an account of how he traveled the ocean and witness the horrific pollution that the
ocean contains. He encounters many situations of pollution throughout the novel,
including mesh and plastic inside a rotting albatross; and when he falls into the
water he comes to the surface to see a gray smoke sky and is tangled in a fishing
net and coughing up plastic flakes. He is recused and taken into the woods. Then
through Hayes beautiful black and white drawings, he discovers nature and how

characters of Guru Dutt s Pyaasa . This thirst leads to an intertwining network of their
fates where the characters interactions on several intersections complements their
development.
The protagonist Vijay portrayed by Guru Dutt himself, is a struggling poet whose
excellence and art is obscured by his social stature and lack of wealth. The movie
kicks off with the camera panning a supposedly colourful (as the film is black and
white) garden where Vijay is seen restlessly lying and romanticising nature in a

Beauty and Body Image Zadie Smith s On Beauty is filled with characters who all
readers can relate to. The novel focuses primarily on the Belseys, who are a mixed
race family living in Boston. During the novel, the Belsey family members
