The President Of The United States Of America
Chris Puente
Being President of the United States of America is one of the most appreciative
and humbling experience, which also comes with a lot of responsibilities. With
that being said, to be the first African American president of the most powerful
country in the world says a lot about how far we have come as a country and
racism is no longer a factor in today s world. Barack Hussein Obama ll is the 44th
president of the United States of America. He was born in Honolulu Hawaii on
August 4th, 1961. President Obama graduated from Columbia University and later
enrolled in Harvard Law School.

The Similarities And Differences Between The Federalists...
The Federalists and the Democratic Republicans were the first political parties in the
United States. The Federalists were founded in 1790 and the Democratic Republicans
were founded in 1792. They had two different views on the constitution and how it
should be interpreted. The Federalists wanted the constitution to be interpreted
loosely, while the Democratic Republicans believed the constitution needed to be
followed very strictly, almost word for word. There were many other differences
between the two parties, but one of the main ones was the way each of them
interpreted the constitution.
The two political parties views were different. Alexander Hamilton s party saw the

How Medicare Is Financed By The Social Security...
How Medicare is financed
Medicare is funded by the Social Security Administration, which means it s
generally financed by taxpayers. Payroll taxes paid by most employers,
employees, and people who are self employed help finance Medicare. There are 4
parts of Medicare, each part is funded differently. Part A, the Hospital Insurance
(HI) Trust fund is paid by taxpayers. Employees pay 1.45% of their earning into the
Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA), which goes into the trust fund.
Employers pay an additional 1.45% into FICA. Those who are self employed pay
2.9% towards FICA. Individuals making $200,000 or more and couples making

Eligibility for Medicare
Medicare coverage is available for most people who are 65 years old or older.
Individuals may find that Medicare offers better coverage at a lower cost than the
coverage they had previously (CPA Client Bulletin, 2012). However, a person is
automatically permitted to Part A, if the participant or their spouse are eligible for
Social Security payments and have made payroll tax contributions for more than 10
years. To be eligible, the person must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal
resident. There are no income or asset tests, and the participant qualifies without
concern of their medical history or preexisting conditions. Participants do not pay
premiums for covered services under Medicare Part A. However, if an individual is
65 years old or older, and has not paid enough Medicare taxes for more than 10 years,
they pay a monthly premium to receive Part A coverage.
Specific groups of people who are not 65 are also eligible for Medicare. Adults under
the age of 65 with permanent disabilities are eligible for Medicare after receiving
Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) for 2 years. Adults with End Stage Renal
Disease (ESRD) or Lou Gehrig s (ALS) disease are likewise eligible for Medicare

Microsoft Azure And Google App Engine Essay
Data location and data segregation are of importance in the cloud, given the
disparate physical location of shared computing resources. It is a possibility that
cloud users be under statutory, regulatory or contractual obligations to ensure that
data is held and managed in a certain way. To understand where the data is stored in
the cloud, a person must what type of cloud deployment models there are in use.
There are four different cloud deployment models that are used in the cloud
computing environment. The four models are private cloud, public cloud, hybrid
cloud and community cloud. A private cloud can be owned or leased and managed
by the organization or a third party and exist at on premises or off premises. A
public cloud is an infrastructure is provided to many customers is managed by a
third party and exist beyond the company firewall, examples would be Microsoft
Azure and Google App Engine. A hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more
cloud deployment models, which links data in such a way that the data transfer
takes place between them without affecting each other. An example of a hybrid
cloud would be Amazon Web Services (ABS). The community cloud is a model
that is shared by several organizations for a shared cause and may be managed by
them or a third party service provider and rarely offered cloud model. The cloud
environment operating according to this model may exist locally or remotely. An
example of a Community Cloud includes Facebook. Most customers
Symbolic Interactionism
Sociology 10
Professor Arkadie
Symbolic Interaction Perspective There are several sociological perspectives
including functionalism, conflict, social exchange, and sociological imagination.
The one that will be talked about within this paper is called symbolic interaction.
Symbolic interaction does not focus on social structure like other sociological
perspectives do, symbolic interaction is based on small, mostly person to person
ideas and perspectives on what symbols mean between people in cultures, what
interaction is like, and how interaction between people can impact or reflect upon
society as a whole. (Gingrich) Symbolic interaction is defined as How people act
toward things based on the meaning those things have for them; ... Show more content

Social groups act differently amongst themselves versus as a whole within a societal
environment. Someone within a certain social group may feel importance, power
and control. Within the subgroups, individuals define themselves and their place in
society. They sometimes hope to influence others to partake in their society and
their norms. Symbolic interaction theory describes the family as a unit of
interacting personalities and focuses attention on the way people interact through
symbols. One example of this theory is gang members. Gang members act as a
family in their own society and there are certain words, gestures, rules and roles that
they abide to in this man made society. Some of the norms that are in this created
society might be understood when a person steps out into regular society, because we
have different norms and roles. When someone steps into our society, they might feel
discomfort, have no sense of self, or may even turn to violence because they are
dysfunctional because they have been immersed in their society for so long and
cannot easily adapt to the outside world. If a gang member throws up a gesture that is
common in there sub culture, other members will relate or understand the meaning of
this nonverbal que, whereas nonmembers of the society may not. From a symbolic
interactionism s perspective, it is important to understand their symbols in order to
understand this sub group s behavior. In this particular

was psychologically manipulated. Her defense stated that she had no choice but
to act as she did. The prosecution denied her brainwashing claim and said that she
was one of their expert witnesses a rebel in search of a cause. The prosecution
emphasized the fact that Hearst had been rebellious prior to the kidnapping and
this was just another act of her rebellion. After a 5week trial, the jury convicted
Hearst of bank robbery. Heart s very famous defense lawyer, F. Lee Bailey, said that
they lost the case for two reasons, the judge improperly allowed evidence into the
trial about Hearst s behavior after the robbery, and the government, the jurors, and
many Americans felt that Patty Hearst had become a

people would just listen to trans people then there would be less issues. To help

what is happening in today s world. I will show you some of the issues trans people
face in the public eye. Even with talking about all of theses different experiences
they are still not everyone s point of view and can not be taken as something every

Transgender is a human who does not identify with the sex that they were assigned at

Little Brother Book Response
I am writing my journal response on Little Brother by Cory Doctorow, which is a
fiction book about cyberterrorism. The Department of Homeland Security
kidnapped Marcus, the main character, and his 3 best friends immediately after a
terrorist attack, keeping them there for 6 days, and then releasing all of them
except Darryl, his very best friend. Even worse, Darryl was stabbed while trying to
run to shelter after a series of explosions from the terrorist attack. After that attack,
it seems that Marcus is being watched by cameras and bugged on his computers. He
no longer has any privacy, and he wants revenge on the DHS for taking it from him.
The beginning of the book is pretty James Bond esque. It s pretty much showing off
Marcus skills.

Paparazzi
As citizens of the United States, we have the right to safety, privacy and freedom of
self expression. Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock and lots of other celebrities pay a steep
price to be in the public s eye. Some would argue that the price they pay is their
loss of privacy. Paparazzi can both work as freelancers and sell their photographs to
magazines or online sites, or they can for agencies (Murray 5). The public s interest
to celebrity exploitation has become increasingly avid in the past decade. Many
paparazzi have tried to justify their behavior by saying that as long as people are
going to pay for the magazines and view the websites; they will continue to take the
picture. With little to no help from the judicial system, celebrities have had to take

There is another side to this debate, including the perspective of the media.
Paparazzi argue saying family and private issues are privileged within the interest
of private life, and reality televison. The writer s point has some validly, but it s not
easy to establish in a legal perspective a boundary between public visibility as
recognition of their identity of public figures and the disrespect of their right to
privacy. If the paparazzi s pictures are not authorized they are unlawful interference
with their privacy.
The First thing to remember is all people have a right to privacy. The government
should protect the right to privacy and set boundaries while privacy has been
recognized as a protected right under the First Amendment, it has been protected only
by stat statues and common law. The concern is that while most existing statues and
the common law protect actions

The Super Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
When the word hero comes to mind people usually think of some super hero that
they read about in a book or saw in a movie, but the literal definition of a hero is a
person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Fearless by Eric Blehm contains many examples of real life heroes. Adam Brown is
undoubtedly the main heroin Blehm s novel, but other members of the Brown family
also displayed many notable heroic qualities.
The main hero in Fearless was Adam Brown. Adam was born on February 5, 1974,
in Hot Springs, Arkansas. When he was a child, he enjoyed playing football and
spending time with his friends and family. As he grew older, Adam became friends
with the wrong crowd, and he began to make poor life choices. Fearless is the story
of how Adam overcame his demons in life and became an amazing father and a well
known hero.
Adam struggled with a drug addiction early in life. Drugs totally destroyed him, and
his relationship with his family. He was no longer the son that Larry and Janice
Brown raised. After Adam met Kelley, he started to make an effort to turn his life
around. Adam became a totally different person. He became someone that the world
could admire and look up to.
Many soldiers die every single day, and their story never gets told. The question is
what makes Adam s story so different and worth sharing. It could have something to
do with Adam s unique personality. After he turned his life around, Adam became a

Analysis of Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake Essay
Tchaikovsky is one of the most popular of all composers. The reasons are several and
understandable. His music is extremely tuneful, opulently and colourfully scored, and
filled with emotional passion. Undoubtedly the emotional temperature of the music
reflected the composer s nature. He was afflicted by both repressed homosexuality
and by the tendency to extreme fluctuations between ecstasy and depression.
Tchaikovsky was neurotic and deeply sensitive, and his life was often painful, but
through the agony shone a genius that created some of the most beautiful of all

Historical Analysis of Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act (1765)
The Stamp Act that was passed by Parliament in 1765 caused the first major split
between England and the American Colonies. Great Britain had incurred a large loss
due to the outcome of the Seven Years war. Parliament decided to raise taxes directly
through the colonists instead of doing it through the usual regulation of trade. The
Stamp Act required all printed material in the colonies to require a stamp bought from
the authorities. The colonists felt this was extremely unconstitutional, against their
liberties and their rights. In 1765, this motivated the Virginia s House of Burgesses
orator, Patrick Henry, to write a document titled Virginia Resolutions on the Stamp
Act . In this document Henry wrote seven resolutions to Virginia s House of
Burgesses regarding the Stamp Act, but only four were approved; the rest were
deemed too radical. Regardless of how many resolutions were approved, all seven
were reprinted in the colonial newspapers, which is important for the intention of the
document, because it will be what the colonists read. This paper will analyze the
document and argue why the Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act started to fuel
the fire behind the revolution. The Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act embodied
the ideas of the colonies that led the start of the American Revolution because it
caused merchants in the colonies to boycott British goods, it also reminded the
colonists that

Essay about A National Tradegy
Tragedy
In September 11th A National Tragedy, James Peck writes about how the tragic event,
September 11th has affected our world today. Peck states that tragedy is a word that
has commonly been overused by Americans throughout news articles and magazines
when a significant event happens. When referring to September 11th, the crashing of
the twin towers, this is a tragic event.
Peck states, I do know life is life and theatre is theatre (735), but we as Americans
immediately turn life events into narrations where we ourselves play the roles of the
characters and the plot is the problem that is affecting us in our life. Turning
significant events into narrations allows Americans to replay events and go over
them constantly throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The attacks dramatize the destruction and construct America as the wealthy super
power it is, clearly these attacks were criminal acts and the attackers must be brought
to justice through the Supreme Court and internationally.
The world knows America better than us Americans know of it. Through emotion
and painful events such as this one America has came to better understand itself and
the strengths that it has. America has one of the strongest military personal in the
world, allowing us to be able to react to attacks such as this one. Peck states Since
September 11th, I believe we ve been living out a national melodrama (737). A
western movie was created by President Bush Wanted: Dead or Alive casting Osama
bin Laden causing the defining moment of Americas melodrama allowing people to
be aware of the attacker by posting posters throughout the United States. America has
sent military troops over to Iraq in search of the attackers killing innocent citizen in
order to voice our opinions on this matter. The best assurance that the US will not
again be the object of comparably horrific terrorist attack is an equitable distribution
of global capital that moves wealth more evenly though out the world and generates

The Indigenous Populations of Australia
The Indigenous Populations of Australia In recent years, there has been an apparent
growth of the Indigenous population of Australiadriven, in part, by an increasing
willingness on the part of many Australians to acknowledge/assert their Aboriginality
(ABS, 2003). As at 30 June 2001, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders(ATSI)
population of Australia was estimated to be 458,520, or 2.4 per cent of the total
population. Persons identifying as Aboriginal origin comprised about 90 per cent of

Unemployment rates were comparatively high among young people aged 15 17
years (32%) and 18 24 years (27%), roughly double the non Indigenous rate. In the
25 34 years and the 35 44 years age groups the Indigenous unemployed rate was
nearly three times the non Indigenous rate. (ABS, 2004)
Indigenous Australians are less likely to be working in higher paying/more prestigious
jobs (e.g. as mangers, administrators or professionals) that their non Indigenous
counterparts. In general, the less prestigious and lower paying the job the more
common it is that Indigenous workers are employed in that occupation compared
with their non indigenous counterparts (ABS, 2004). These figures are improving but
Community Development Programs are not enough to address all the issues of
employment in remote areas, let alone all the employment issues for indigenous
persons.
Low levels of employment and high unemployment contribute to the economic
disadvantage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples relative to other
Australians. For many Indigenous Australians, lower levels of educational attainment
and greater geographic isolation act as inhibitors to securing skilled jobs and high
wages. (ABS, 2004)
A high proportion of Indigenous males are on relatively low individual incomes
compared with their non Indigenous counterparts. The incidence of relatively low

BANKING INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
History:
Banking in India has its origin as carry as the Vedic period. It is believed that the
transition from money lending to banking must have occurred even before Manu,
the great Hindu jurist, who has devoted a section of his work to deposits and
advances and laid down rules relating to the interest. During the mogul period, the
indigenous bankers played a very important role in lending money and financing
foreign trade and commerce. During the days of East India Company, it was to turn

Teaching Phonics And Teach Phonics
One of the tasks required by teachers is to teach children to read and write, with this
comes different approaches that teachers need to be aware of. Phonics is one of the
approaches adopted by teachers when teaching children to read and write. Teachers
adopt different methods to teaching phonics its what makes them effective teachers
and adaptive. This essay aims to look closer at phonicsand some of the different
approaches used to teach phonics in the classroom. Phonic approaches that will be
discussed in this paper include synthetic phonics, Analytic phonics, Linguist phonics
and Word building.
Phonics is a method that teaches reading and writing, it aims to enhance
investigation into sound letter relationships and the understanding of the alphabet
(Hill, S., 2012, p. 241). Phonics is used to assist with the decoding of words.
However, it should be also used in conjunction with other approaches to allow
readers to comprehend what they are reading not just decode the words. Phonics is
valuable, but not the whole part of learning to read and write. Understanding what
readers are reading is a very important role and should not be overlooked. Gough,
Hoover and Peterson conclude (citied in Damianou, 2016, p. 128) that a child who
cannot decode cannot read; a child who cannot comprehend cannot read either .
Research has found that there are six elements that benefit children who are starting
school that must firstly be fully understood, included are the alphabetic code
The Status Of The Ideal American Family
Change is inevitable, and history has shown us that change in family status has been
both positive and negative. Historically, the flux in family diversity can be traced
back for centuries, and we see many different practices that have had successes and
failures amongst families in the United States. Over the last six decades, the image of
the ideal American familyhas changed, as well as the political and economic status of
women. The development of relative economic power for women has led to a change
in family structure. The evolution of families can be seen in the media and television
shows, and the contrast between shows in the mid 20th century and now, is shell
shocking. As new developments in human society continue to grow, family... Show

In the show, the father was seen giving advice and lecturing the children while the
wife was folding laundry, or setting the table for a meal. The viewers were exposed
to the show, which enforced the societal norm of male dominated gender
stratification. However, the rushed marriages and desire for children following the
war was no longer the American dream. In the early 1960 s the employment of
women increased exponentially and their economic status increased. A national poll
of American housewives claimed, 90 percent of them said they did not want their
daughters to follow in their footsteps, and to postpone marriage longer and get more
education and work experience. (Coontz, 51) By 1970, fifty percent of the women
in the United States were employed. Women became independent from a
breadwinning husband and divorce rates increased with about half of all marriages
end[ing] in divorce. (Rutter, 329) Women liberation movements promoted the
liberating feelings of new family possibilities with a visions of independent success.
Throughout the 70 s the expansion of social freedoms and economic opportunity for
women led to a difficult time for families to function. Women began to feel a new
sense of power and were the mostly the decision makers when it came to divorce.
These patterns continued up into the 90 s with more than two thirds of the women in

The onus on notification of infectious disease is still seen today in the Control of
Disease Act 1984 and the Regulation of the Infectious Diseases 1988. This may have
positive benefits to public health, limiting illnesses such as food poisoning and rapid
identification of outbreaks of bacterial meningitis, measles and other illnesses through
prompt notification and medical or environmental intervention. The role of social
conscience however and its manifestation in social control may have been responsible
for dividing communities through encouraging individuals to report their apparently
ill neighbours.

The tradition of public health and inherent understanding of the term, dates back as

Multiagency Coordination System Analysis
A system within a system is what comes to mind after reading this week s reading
from the textbook. Multiagency Coordination Systems (MAC S) is defined as a
system of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications
integrated into a common system that is responsible for coordinating and supporting
domestic incident managementactivities (Walsh,2012). It has been interesting
reading the information because it relates so much to the military. Because of that
experience the information is relatable and exciting, that previous part of life is
missed and will always be a part of life for me. The Multiagency Coordination System

This area requires effective and reliable communication because of the type of
information transmitted through the center. The EOC will only be successful
with the use of mutual aid agreements and joint communications protocols among
participating agencies (Walsh,2012). An interesting factor is that it has a Policy

The Philadelphia Convention
The Philadelphia Convention in 1787 was one of the most significant events in the
United States history. The Convention happened with a lot of arguments, but the
result was incredible the creation of the United States. Among proposals, the three
plans which had the strongest impacts on the outcomes of the Convention were the
Virginia Plan, the New Jersey Plan and the Connecticut Plan.
The first plan is Virginia Plan, which was drafted on May 29, 1787, by James
Madison and his fellow Edmund Randolph in the form of 15 resolutions. It was
proposed to the Constitutional Convention by James Madison, who was a political
theorist, American statesman, and the well known fourth President of the United
States. He was also the father of checks and balances, which helps to prevent the
abuse of power between the branches. The Virginia Plan suggested that we should
have a bicameral legislature in which contains two chambers. Besides, each state
would have representatives based on the population according to the Plan. This
proposal is clearly an advantage for the large states because of their high population.
More than that, they are going to have more representatives which means more power.

there should only have one representative in the unicameral legislature. This proposal

is follwed the Articles of Confederation. Moreover, the New Jersey Plan suggested
that we should amend the Articles of Confederation. This plan also added more
power to the Congress, which is the authority to raise funds via

Hip Injury And Ulnar Collateral Ligament Essay
Introduction
Hip injury and ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries among baseball players has
become a high area in study (Cheatham, S. W., Kumagai Shimamura, K., Kolber, M.
J., 2016). Athletes in the field of baseball may be at high risk for injury due to the
high volume of repetitive motion in throwing and pitching because of comprehensive
training schedules and games in the season. It is commonly believed that the presence
of limited hip mobility, throwing biomechanics are changed and may lead to both hip
and shoulder alteration. With both hip and shoulder mobility affected can result
compromising throwing form in biomechanics and may force the core muscles
(abdominals, shoulders, and upper extremities) to compromising and work even
harder. More importantly, the range of motion (ROM) maybe conceding excessively
which results increasing potential risk of future injuries. The individual s
biomechanics in pitching or throwing must be monitor for muscular endurance,
strength, or power for speed and numbers of repetition when contributing towards
velocity. Studying a player s mechanics especially their genetics of length and size
plays a major role on the changes in their body and correlates the throwing velocity
in fine coordination. Every pitch thrown is one of the most important factors in a
baseball or softball game because the velocity can change the outcome of the game.

She was intelligent and compassionate and insightful. This insight is clear to us
from the beginning, as the curtains open on a bedroom, in which Figaro is

Their duet begins and Figaro is measuring dimensions of furniture to a bourree
pattern 6 with strong beats, while Susanna sings a gavotte 7 which is quick and
lively, about her beautiful headdress. She calls to Figaro to admire it, and breaks
his pattern. The third beat accent of her melody unsettles Figaro s deliberate
downbeat... interfere[ing] with the valet s concentration... throwing his vocal
tallying out of sync. 8 She fills in his space with a delicate melody that gets him
back on tempo and turns his attention towards her, where he finally acknowledges
her headdress and remarks about the practicality of the room, leading into the
second duet. Here we draw the parallel between Figaro s masculine rhythm and his
rationality. His steady downbeats match the logic he uses to take the Count s gift of
the room as an advantage, because it is close to both the Count and Countess s
quarters. Similar to the way Susanna was able to sing Figaro back into place, she
uses her global perspective of the situation to realize the Count wants her close to his
room for easier access. Susanna leads Figaro to this realization, and brings him to the
reality of the situation. Using her insight, Susanna demonstrates

come from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows

This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the
green expanse that is similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but
also includes things such as railroads and power lines that show that the area is
populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated landscape and fear of
isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse that
gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or
directly noticed. The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries
of Udolpho and The Turn of the Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through
their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers to the rest of civilization. The
idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in The
Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of
the Screw hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is
not as lucky. The effect of the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the
reader and viewer to become suspicious of their surroundings and uneasy with the
sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is residing within it and
give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic

Criricism of Wilkie Collins’ Woman in White Essay
Criricism of Wilkie Collins Woman in White
To Mr. Collins belongs the credit of having introduced into fiction those most
mysterious of mysteries, the mysteries which are at our own doors. So said Henry
James in an unsigned review of another author s work. But his view was certainly
not shared by all those who cast their opinions into the fray. An unsigned review in
the Saturday Review said of Collins work, Estimated by the standard of great novels,
the Woman in Whiteis nowhere. Somewhere between these two points are friends

Another is a good natured family lawyer of the old school. A third is a brave and
determined lady. Playing on Collins own comparisons to a court trial this reviewer
wrote, They are not staring at the spectators, or, if they are, they are staring listlessly
and vacantly, like witnesses who are waiting to be called before the court, and have
nothing to do until their turn arrives.
Of course many positive critiques of the novel existed. One was written as a direct
reaction to the Saturday Review piece. This anonymous reviewer of the Spectator
cried out , The vivid and manifold emotions with which we read her story are still
fresh in our memory, and we retain a lively sense of the personality of every actor
in it from Marian and Laura down to the old parish clerk. Yet we are told that the
author `does not attempt to paint character or passion. He is not in the least

best thing of its kind because it is not something else is a convenient mode of
detraction, and, when done with assurance and a certain degree of literary tact, it
may pass with the unwary for authoritative criticism; but it seems a pitiful thing after
all when once the trick of it has been discovered.
And once again a middle road emerged from between the two extreme views. An
unsigned in The Times praised Collins, but with restraint. We must be content to ask,

Coral Reef Essay
Coral reefs are diverse underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium
carbonate structures secreted by corals. Reefs are built by colonies of different
species that are found in marine water. Reefs are home to a variety of creatures such
as fish, urchins, sponges, sharks, turtles, jelly fish, and thousands of other species and
plants. Coralreefs are the most diverse of all marine eco systems and often called
the rainforest of the sea. The total area of the world s coral reefs amount to less
then one quarter of 1% of the entire marine environment. Which is crazy because
coral reefs are home to 25% of all marine life on the planet. Coral reefs have
survived tens of thousands of years of natural change, but major threats from
mankind, pollution, and climate change have caused this under water eco system to
have serious threats in the future. Coral reefs are dying around the world. Already
human activity and climate change have destroyed a quarter of the world s coral

and colorful underwater habitats flourish all around the world, there are many factors
that can affect coral reefs and cause devastating outcomes to marine life. Climate

Muslim Contributions Dbq Essay
From around 750 to 1350, Muslims were able to contribute in the making of how our
world. It started when the Muslims inherited, adopted, and made advancements
through people they have conquered, Greece, Rome, and India. Their advancement
allowed Muslim achievements to stand out and make a lasting impact on world
cultures; their contributions affected various areas including art, architecture,
medicine, agriculture, music, language, and technology. The Muslims were able to
make such great contributions because of their preserved knowledge, their
civilization, and their ability of simplification. These contributions impacted the
world by helping medicine advance, building a trade network, and the growth of
mapmaking. Muslims both preserved existing knowledge and extended it, which
allowed Muslims to make their great contributions. Muslims had many practical
reasons for learning, including, the advancement of science, qualified physicians to
treat illness, and mathematicians and astronomers to calculate time. Muslims had
practical reasons for supporting the advancement of science. Rulers wanted qualified
physicians treating their ills...relied on mathematicians and astronomers to calculate
the times of prayer... (Doc. 1) Around A.D. 476, Europeentered an era where

According to document 4, Al Khwarizmi, a Muslim mathematician wrote a textbook
in the 800 s about algebra which was later adopted throughout Europe. Muslim
mathematicians also adopted Arabic numerals from Indians and used them in place

yet complicated structures. Also, after using their observations and their
understanding of mathematics, Muslim scholars were able to make an advancement
in mapmaking. They used astrolabe and armillary sphere to help study skies and

2012 Presidential Elections
The results of both the 2004 and 2012 Presidential elections were the same as both
incumbents were able to capitalize on the voters being comfortable with them.
Additional, since both incumbents had access to national assets, four years of on the
job training, and insider information they were able to speak in depth on a wide
range of issues both foreign and domestic. In 2004, the largest and most important
issue to the nation was the war in Iraqi and in 2012 it was the nation s economy.
Given the incumbents access to firsthand information on the issues at large, they
were able to weaken their opponents in the nation s eyes by dismantling the candidate
s strategies on the issues. History has shown that nations trend to focus more on

Campaign Strategies used by the incumbents in both the 2004 and 2012 presidential
elections were direct and aggressive, using media outlets to launch phased targeting to
discredit candidates by highlighting indecisiveness and lacking of understand on
controversial issues. In both elections the candidates that successful used the media
were able to garnered support from nation as they were able to stay steps ahead of
their opponents, forcing them to constantly defend themselves and legalize their
campaigns. For example, President Obama used ads to undermine Mitt Romney s
time running the investment firm Bain Capital (strength of Romney s campaign)
against him, stating that because of Mitt Romney s time at Bain he would be unable
to relate to average. This forced Romney to alter his campaign strategy as more
Americans began to question Romney stance on multiple issues, especially taxes,
during an election in which the primary issue was the nation s economy. Similar
strategies were utilized in the 2004 and 2012 elections, giving the incumbents a huge
advantage from day one. When you combine the election results and campaign
strategy with the voter turnout with only a 2 5 percent difference in voting age
population turnout, it is clear why both elections resulted in the incumbent being
reelected. I believe that the nation applied the old saying, if it is not broke, then don t
fix it during both the 2004 and 2012 presidential
Summary On The Conflict Of Conflict
SUMMARY ON Smith, Amy L. and Smock, David R., Managing a Mediation
Process, pp. 37 61. Crocker, Chester A., Taming Intractable Conflicts, 119 145.
Taming Intractable Conflicts During negotiation, there are times when sudden
incidents during a negotiation can lead to mistrust, rapid accusation and violence.
These incidences can be terrorist attack, death of a key leader and others. Both
parties might even terminate talk in these cases. In this case, the mediator can face
personal attacks and public ridicule for leading the parties to the direction they did
not want to go or shouldn t have gone. When a conflict gets complicated, the author
suggests to follow certain choices, which are Hanging on, Hunker down and Bail
out. In case of a crisis, any mediator has to take up one of these choices. The choice
of hanging on works when peacemaking seems to break apart and when there is
tremendous support from the external agents. But due to change in ground situation,
this option might not work. Sometimes, the parties are unwilling to respond. In these
cases, the mediator acts defensively to protect the process of negotiation what has
already been achieved. But when nothing works and if it seems that the process of
negotiation is going nowhere and the political cost of staying is going high and the
ultimate solution the parties want is violence, then, bailing out is the option. But
hunkering down doesn t always work. In case of emotionally charged atmosphere or
bad peace process,
United States And The European Union
China R D in numbers and main areas of expenditure
Japan, the United States and the European Union are reducing their levels of
investment in research and development (R D), leaving China on the way to
establish itself as the first investor in R D towards 2019, according to a report the
Organization for Economic Growth and Development (OECD, 2014).
According to the Science Technology and Industry Outlook 2014, the share of
OECD countries in global R D fell from 90 to 70 percent in the last decade. The
annual growth of R D among OECD countries was 1.6 percent during 2008 2012
half the rate of 2001 2008, as budgets of public R D stagnated or declined in many
countries, like private investment. The R D of China for its part has doubled since
2008 2012. Spending on R D in 2012, was 257 billion in China, 397 billion dollars in
the United States, 282 billion dollars in the European Union and 134 billion in Japan,
said the OECD.
The amount of money spent on research and development (R D) in China grew 12.4
percent in 2014, which is an encouraging trend in the country, trying to find a new
growth model driven by innovation.
The Report on Economic and Social Development in 2014 of the National Bureau of
Statistics show that China spent 1.33 billion yuan ($216,800 million) on R D last
year, $140,600 million more than in 2013.
Funding for this area represent 2.09 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in
China corresponding to the previous year, 0.01 percentage points higher
Why Coal Is Responsible For Destroying The World
As far back as the Roman Empire, and indeed probably long before then, coal has
been used by humans as a source of heat, providing many advantages over wood,
charcoal and other fuels. However, it wasn t until the introduction of the steam engine
that coal became a major part of shaping the world. Fueling the industrial revolution,
the high energy concentration of coalmade it the standard source of everything from
trains to power plants. Coal companies claim that coal, though not perfect, is the best
source of energy at this moment, and the negative effects are being mitigated even
as we speak. Consumers have a high demand of energy, that cannot be sated by other
sources. To this very day, coal continues to drive forward the world, but... Show more

They are focused on finding ways to make coal cleaner for the environment, and
have outreach programs to get youth involved in this process as well. Their main
claims are that they recognize inextricable linkage between energy, the economy
and the environment and support policies that promote the use of coal . They
resolve these two seemingly conflicting goals by supporting investments..including
capture and storage of CO2 emissions . Coal, they argue, provides the energy
security that the United States relies upon. The United States have more coal
reserves than the Middle East has oil reserves, and could power the United States
for the next 290 years at the current rate of consumption. Even though Coal is
becoming less relied upon, they expect coal to remain dominant through at least
2040. The reason for this is low energy costs. States with large coal reserves pay, on
average, $0.88 per kilowatt hour (kWh), while states that lack reserves pay $0.1244
per kWh. And outside of the states, consumption is on the rise. There was a 39%
increase in demand by 2012, and they are expecting an 80% increase by 2035. But
with all this coal, there is going to be more emissions. The ACCCE is attempting to
develop new technologies to implement, having spent one hundred thirty billion
dollars so far and planning on investing

Grand Canyon Essay Outline
Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is one of the greatest natural creations our planet has to offer.
Have you ever been mesmerized by the giant cliffs, massive ridges, or the wide
array of beautiful colors? If you answered yes, this paper is just for you! After
reading this, you will be well educated about the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is in the northwest corner of Arizona, bordering Utah and Nevada.
Did you know that more than five million people visit Grand Canyon National Park
per year? The Grand Canyon is roughly 280 miles long, 18 miles wide, and in some
places more than 1 mile deep! The volume of this enormous park is estimated to be
over 5.5 trillion cubic yards, now that is impressive! While the Colorado River
carved this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, these rocks undergo erosion, which is the process of moving sediments from
one place to another. Then, these sediments are deposited all at one place and over
time they start to converge and cement as layers which are also known as strata. As
time keeps going, new sediments deposit and cement together over old ones forming
new layers. This is a repetitive process that eventually build up layers to make up a
Sedimentary rock. Approximately 40 major sedimentary rock layers exposed in the
Grand Canyon National Park area range in age from about 200 million to nearly 2
billion years old. As you can see, sedimentary rock formation takes an excessive
amount of time. So you now know how sedimentary rocks are formed and how the
Colorado River majorly eroded all the rock creating canyons. But here comes the
million dollar question: where did all the rocks come from? The answer to that
question is The Continental Drift. The Earth s continents are not fixed in place, but
rather float on a sea of molten rock, meaning that they move around quite a bit.
Over 250 million years, that quite a bit can turn into land masses moving thousands
of miles. Moreover, the Earth is made up of 20 Tectonic plates. Seven of these plates
are very large and consist of entire continents or sea floors. The plate that the Grand
Canyon is located on is called The North American Plate . At one time, this plate was
considerably further south and consequently had a very different climate than

Historical Analysis of Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act (1765) The Stamp Act that was passed by Parliament in 1765 caused the first major split between England and the American Colonies. Great Britain had incurred a large loss due to the outcome of the Seven Years war. Parliament decided to raise taxes directly through the colonists instead of doing it through the usual regulation of trade. The Stamp Act required all printed material in the colonies to require a stamp bought from the authorities. The colonists felt this was extremely unconstitutional, against their liberties and their rights. In 1765, this motivated the Virginia s House of Burgesses orator, Patrick Henry, to write a document titled Virginia Resolutions on the Stamp Act . In this document Henry wrote seven resolutions to Virginia s House of Burgesses regarding the Stamp Act, but only four were approved; the rest were deemed too radical. Regardless of how many resolutions were approved, all seven were reprinted in the colonial newspapers, which is important for the intention of the document, because it will be what the colonists read. This paper will analyze the document and argue why the Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act started to fuel the fire behind the revolution. The Virginian Resolutions on the Stamp Act embodied the ideas of the colonies that led the start of the American Revolution because it caused merchants in the colonies to boycott British goods, it also reminded the colonists that

Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the combination of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray the transition of the untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of the gothic transition come from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows untouched nature that gives a feeling of the sublime. This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed. The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work

Criricism of Wilkie Collins’ Woman in White Essay Criricism of Wilkie Collins Woman in White To Mr. Collins belongs the credit of having introduced into fiction those most mysterious of mysteries, the mysteries which are at our own doors. So said Henry James in an unsigned review of another author s work. But his view was certainly not shared by all those who cast their opinions into the fray. An unsigned review in the Saturday Review said of Collins work, Estimated by the standard of great novels, the Woman in Whiteis nowhere. Of course many positive critiques of the novel existed. One was written as a direct reaction to the Saturday Review piece. This anonymous reviewer of the Spectator cried out , The vivid and manifold emotions with which we read her story are still fresh in our memory, and we retain a lively sense of the personality of every actor in it from Marian and Laura down to the old parish clerk. Yet we are told that the author `does not attempt to paint character or passion. He is not in the least imaginative! Mashallah! This critic ends his or her review stating, To sneer at the best thing of its kind because it is not something else is a convenient mode of detraction, and, when done with assurance and a certain degree of literary tact, it may pass with the unwary for authoritative criticism; but it seems a pitiful thing after all when once the trick of it has been discovered. And once again a middle road emerged from between the two extreme views. An unsigned in The Times praised Collins, but with restraint. We must be content to ask, in the name of

In both elections the candidates that successful used the media were able to garnered support from nation as they were able to stay steps ahead of their opponents, forcing them to constantly defend themselves and legalize their campaigns. For example, President Obama used ads to undermine Mitt Romney s time running the investment firm Bain Capital (strength of Romney s campaign) against him, stating that because of Mitt Romney s time at Bain he would be unable to relate to average. This forced Romney to alter his campaign strategy as more Americans began to question Romney stance on multiple issues, especially taxes, during an election in which the primary issue was the nation s economy. • 47. Summary On The Conflict Of Conflict SUMMARY ON Smith, Amy L. and Smock, David R., Managing a Mediation Process, pp. 37 61. Crocker, Chester A., Taming Intractable Conflicts, 119 145. Taming Intractable Conflicts During negotiation, there are times when sudden incidents during a negotiation can lead to mistrust, rapid accusation and violence. These incidences can be terrorist attack, death of a key leader and others. Both parties might even terminate talk in these cases. In this case, the mediator can face personal attacks and public ridicule for leading the parties to the direction they did not want to go or shouldn t have gone. When a conflict gets complicated, the author suggests to follow certain choices, which are Hanging on, Hunker down and Bail out. In case of a crisis, any mediator has to take up one of these choices. The choice of hanging on works when peacemaking seems to break apart and when there is tremendous support from the external agents. But due to change in ground situation, this option might not work. Sometimes, the parties are unwilling to respond. In these cases, the mediator acts defensively to protect the process of negotiation what has already been achieved. But when nothing works and if it seems that the process of negotiation is going nowhere and the political cost of staying is going high and the ultimate solution the parties want is violence, then, bailing out is the option. But hunkering down doesn t always work. In case of emotionally charged atmosphere or bad peace process,

Why Coal Is Responsible For Destroying The World As far back as the Roman Empire, and indeed probably long before then, coal has been used by humans as a source of heat, providing many advantages over wood, charcoal and other fuels. However, it wasn t until the introduction of the steam engine that coal became a major part of shaping the world. Fueling the industrial revolution, the high energy concentration of coalmade it the standard source of everything from trains to power plants. Coal companies claim that coal, though not perfect, is the best source of energy at this moment, and the negative effects are being mitigated even as we speak. Consumers have a high demand of energy, that cannot be sated by other sources. To this very day, coal continues to drive forward the world, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are focused on finding ways to make coal cleaner for the environment, and have outreach programs to get youth involved in this process as well. Their main claims are that they recognize inextricable linkage between energy, the economy and the environment and support policies that promote the use of coal . They resolve these two seemingly conflicting goals by supporting investments..including capture and storage of CO2 emissions . Coal, they argue, provides the energy security that the United States relies upon. The United States have more coal reserves than the Middle East has oil reserves, and could power the United States for the next 290 years at the current rate of consumption. Even though Coal is becoming less relied upon, they expect coal to remain dominant through at least 2040. The reason for this is low energy costs. States with large coal reserves pay, on average, $0.88 per kilowatt hour (kWh), while states that lack reserves pay $0.1244 per kWh. And outside of the states, consumption is on the rise. There was a 39% increase in demand by 2012, and they are expecting an 80% increase by 2035. But with all this coal, there is going to be more emissions. The ACCCE is attempting to develop new technologies to implement, having spent one hundred thirty billion dollars so far and planning on investing

Next, these rocks undergo erosion, which is the process of moving sediments from one place to another. Then, these sediments are deposited all at one place and over time they start to converge and cement as layers which are also known as strata. As time keeps going, new sediments deposit and cement together over old ones forming new layers. This is a repetitive process that eventually build up layers to make up a Sedimentary rock. Approximately 40 major sedimentary rock layers exposed in the Grand Canyon National Park area range in age from about 200 million to nearly 2 billion years old. As you can see, sedimentary rock formation takes an excessive amount of time. So you now know how sedimentary rocks are formed and how the Colorado River majorly eroded all the rock creating canyons. But here comes the million dollar question: where did all the rocks come from? The answer to that question is The Continental Drift. The Earth s continents are not fixed in place, but rather float on a sea of molten rock, meaning that they move around quite a bit. Over 250 million years, that quite a bit can turn into land masses moving thousands of miles. Moreover, the Earth is made up of 20 Tectonic plates. Seven of these plates are very large and consist of entire continents or sea floors. The plate that the Grand Canyon is located on is called The North American Plate . At one time, this plate was considerably further south and consequently had a very different climate than
