 Social Regard in Learning
-teacher serve as positive and powerful
role models of the values of pursuit of
learning.
STRANDS
Acts as a positive model for students
 Implement school policies and procedure.
 Demonstrate punctuality
 Maintains appropriate appearance
 Is careful about the effect of ones behavior on
students
 Shows respect for other person and their ideas
Learning Environment
-providing for social, psychological and physical
environment within which all students, regardless
of their individual differences in learning, can
engage the different learning activities and work
towards attaining high standards of learning.
STRANDS
Create an environment that promotes
fairness
 Maintains a learning environment of courtesy
and respect for different learners
 Provides gender-fair opportunities of learning
 Recognizing that every learner has strengths
Makes the physical environment safe and
conducive to learning
 Maintains a safe, clean and orderly classroom free
from distraction.
 Arrange challenging activities given the physical
environment.
Communicates higher learning
expectations to each learner
 Uses individual and cooperative learning activities to
improve capacities of learners for higher learning
 Encourage learners to ask questions
 Provides learners with a variety of learning experiences
 Provides varied enrichment activities to nurture the
desire for further learning
 Communicates and maintains high standards of learning
performance
Establishes and maintains consistent
standards of learners behavior.
 Handles behavior problems quickly and with
due respect to children's rights
 Give timely feedback to reinforcement
appropriate to learners’ behavior
 Guides individual learners requiring
development of appropriate social and
learning behavior

National Competency-based teacher standards (NCBTS)

  • 2. The Teacher in the Classroom and Community TEACHER CLASSROOM COMMUNITY PUPILS OR STUDENTS TEACHING COMMUNITY COMMUNITY OUTSIDE Fellow teachers , Parents, Colleagues & Superiors Local Official &Alumni
  • 3. National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS)  a set of competencies that each teacher must possess to function effectively and satisfactorily.
  • 5. National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS) DOMAIN1  Social Regard in Learning -teacher serve as positive and powerful role models of the values of pursuit of learning.
  • 6. STRANDS Acts as a positive model for students  Implement school policies and procedure.  Demonstrate punctuality  Maintains appropriate appearance  Is careful about the effect of ones behavior on students  Shows respect for other person and their ideas
  • 7. Learning Environment -providing for social, psychological and physical environment within which all students, regardless of their individual differences in learning, can engage the different learning activities and work towards attaining high standards of learning.
  • 8. STRANDS Create an environment that promotes fairness  Maintains a learning environment of courtesy and respect for different learners  Provides gender-fair opportunities of learning  Recognizing that every learner has strengths
  • 9. Makes the physical environment safe and conducive to learning  Maintains a safe, clean and orderly classroom free from distraction.  Arrange challenging activities given the physical environment.
  • 10. Communicates higher learning expectations to each learner  Uses individual and cooperative learning activities to improve capacities of learners for higher learning  Encourage learners to ask questions  Provides learners with a variety of learning experiences  Provides varied enrichment activities to nurture the desire for further learning  Communicates and maintains high standards of learning performance
  • 11. Establishes and maintains consistent standards of learners behavior.  Handles behavior problems quickly and with due respect to children's rights  Give timely feedback to reinforcement appropriate to learners’ behavior  Guides individual learners requiring development of appropriate social and learning behavior
  • 12.  Communicates and enforces school policies and procedures for appropriate learner behavior  Encourage free expression of ideas from students  Creates stress-free environment  Arrange challenges activities given the physical environment
