Narrative Essay On Life
Writing a narrative essay on the topic of life is no small feat; it's akin to capturing the essence of
existence within the confines of a few pages. Life, being an intricate tapestry of experiences,
emotions, and reflections, poses a considerable challenge to encapsulate in a coherent and
engaging narrative. The difficulty lies not only in selecting and organizing the myriad moments
that constitute one's life but also in articulating them with the depth and resonance they deserve.
Crafting a compelling narrative necessitates a delicate balance between introspection and
storytelling. The writer must delve into the recesses of their memories, extracting the meaningful
episodes that have shaped their journey. This introspective process, though rewarding, can be
emotionally taxing, requiring the author to confront the highs and lows, joys, and sorrows that
have woven the fabric of their existence.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the art of storytelling itself. The narrative must be more than
a mere chronological recollection; it should be a vivid portrayal that captures the reader's
imagination and empathy. The language must be evocative, the pacing well-calibrated, and the
transitions seamless. It involves the intricate dance of words, where each sentence contributes to
the overall melody of the narrative.
In essence, writing a narrative essay on life requires not just writing skills but a profound
understanding of one's own experiences and the ability to distill them into a narrative that
resonates universally. It's a journey of self-discovery and expression, demanding both
vulnerability and literary finesse.
At the intersection of life's complexity and the art of storytelling, the writer grapples with the
challenge of encapsulating the ineffable. Yet, in this struggle, there lies the potential for a
narrative that transcends the personal and speaks to the shared human experience.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this formidable task, it's worth noting that similar
essays and a plethora of writing services can be explored. One such avenue is HelpWriting.net,
where writers with expertise in various genres stand ready to transform life's stories into eloquent
narratives.

Why I Chose A Fitting Career Choice For Me
The most asked questions throughout everyone s young adulthood or childhood is
what career have you decided on? or What are you going to college for? . For me,
the question that comes after announcing my career choice is What made you
decide to enter that field? . My response is always the same. The answer I give is
because of my passion for helping others and the satisfaction of knowing I
succeeded in assisting families and the deceased. I believe I have skills which are
ideal for employment in the field. My skills include: organization, dedication, time
management, compassion for others and my work, adaptability, responsibility, detail
oriented, professional, and self motivation. I believe I chose a fitting career choice

The profession also has negatives. One of the negatives is dealing with emotional
families and difficult cases. Each family has their different ways of grieving, some
are not the greatest ways. The hardest part is having to watch them go through the
pain they are in. As a funeral director, it is part of the job to help them cope as best
as you can and to make sure the funeral runs smooth while having all the
components the family wanted. The second negative is trying to make the hard
wishes of the deceased family come true. Sometimes their religion or preferences
requires extraordinary tasks in which you may have to find a way to make them
happen or find an alternative to the wishes. The third negative is planning your
personal schedule and not being able to have time off to do personal tasks, like
spending time with family or going to events. This will affect me more when I decide
to have children. Although this is a negative, I knew about the circumstance before
entering the field. Death does not occur just because the time is convenient for me.
The fourth negative is having early mornings and calls throughout the middle of the
night. This is a profession where constant alert is required at all times. Services and
deaths do not stop just because I had a call in the middle of the night. Others lives
still go on and the world does not revolve around when I need sleep. Although the
career has negatives and positives, I

Mr. Covey seemed now to think he had me, and could do what he pleased; but at
this moment from whence came the spirit I don t know I resolved to fight; and,
suiting my action to the resolution, I seized Covey hard by the throat; and as I did
so, I rose. (Douglass 112, chapt. 10)
In Chapter 10 of Frederick Douglass Narrative of the Life of... an American Slave,
Douglass describes an important incident in which he forces backward the standard
master slave hierarchy of beating privileges against his temporary master, Mr. Covey.
The victory proves for Douglass a remarkable source of renewed yearning for
freedom and of self confidence; as he rose physically, standing up to fight, he rose in
spirit. Covey did not have Douglass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An examination of the Narrative through a signification sensitive lens, as defined by
Abrahams and discussed by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in The Signifying Monkey, with
attention to narrative detail, will reveal how Douglass both achieves and reflects
through his Narrative a powerful independence of self and spirit which itself is
independent of both Northern allies and legal and bodily freedom.
Many would argue with justification that Frederick Douglass has adopted, to forge
his narrative voice, a strong tool of the white, educated society which, in its
Southern substantiation, has held him captive. Douglass in part takes the reins of
his destiny by (eventually and initially nervously, according to the Narrative)
addressing an audience which would once have been unaddressable. When
Douglass was a slave the most contact he had with the abolitionists was, at best,
their addressing of him, in small, distant doses, through the literature of which
Douglass managed to get a hold. A slave can take orders from Southern whites and
occasionally receive information or ideas from Northern whites (or abolitionists),
but a certain degree of power or status, springing out of ability and freedom to
articulate, is required to address them in return. The power to address is, in a small
way, a sign of equal intellectual and social footing.
Literacy and articulation are very closely linked for Douglass. During his struggle to
learn how to read, he says, some anti slavery arguments

Essay on The Use of Appetite Suppressants
The Use of Appetite Suppressants
In the past two decades, Americans and most of the Western world have become
obsessed with losing weight. Countless diets, weight loss strategies and gimmicks
have been and remain on the market and cost Americans billions of dollars every
year. The media perpetuates this ideal of thinness and so people continue in desperate
attempts to shrink their bodies. People have gone to extreme measures such as
stomach stapling, liposuction and starvation diets to try and take off excess weight.
Many Americans are willing to do whatever is necessary to look a certain way, no
matter what the cost. Sometimes these costs outweigh the benefits of losing weight.
Oftentimes, when people diet and lose weight, ... Show more content on

The hypothalamus helps to tell the body when to give off hunger signals. PPA
interrupts this system and thus, the individual s appetite is somewhat curbed.
Because the appetite is curbed, the individual desires less food and ultimately loses
weight. Appetite Suppressants have been around for a number of years. Some people
have actually taken them for years and years in attempt to curb their appetite. One
main appetite suppressant that has been around since the early 1900 s is
Phenylpropanolamine. Phenylpropanolamine, also known as PPA is the main
ingredient in common appetite suppressants like Dexatrim, Vitaslim, Hungrex and
Acutrim. PPA is a non methylated form of Ephidrine (Morgan, p.3). PPA first became
known as a nasal decongestant and is still used in these over the counter drugs today.
Although PPA is the substance found in a number of cough/cold remedies, it is also
the active ingredient in most appetite suppressants.
Numerous studies have been done surrounding the effects of PPA on weight loss.
Most studies show that using the appetite suppressant, PPA along with diet and
exercise will promote weight loss. PPA has been shown to be extremely effective in
helping people eat less and achieve the ultimate goal of losing weight. In 1975, a
study with 70 volunteers concluded the subjects lost three times as much weight
while taking PPA than while taking the placebo (Lasagna, p.393). Another
Drinking Age Essay
Drinking Age When teen agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are
sent into the world. They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They
do grown up things like vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can t go to
the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are still just kids. Where s
the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law? First, it is necessary to question this
law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to
consume alcohol? Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would be
perfectly able to drink responsibly. This seemingly arbitrary number is associated
with adulthood, as if the day a person turns 21 they know everything and... Show

When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner
because drinking by these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority
and a symbol of adulthood. Clearly, this kind of devious attitude does not
encourage responsible drinking. While young people in foreign countries learn to
regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social activity, young Americans view it
as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds do not have legal
access to even a beer in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the
responsibilities that come with drinking when they do have the right. The drinking
age should be lowered because the current age has no real basis. With a lowered
drinking age, fewer problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught,
along with drinking in moderation. All of the arguments for having a raised
drinking level or retaining the current one are weak. The problems that make a
drinking age limit necessary are better solved through a lowered drinking level.
Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be broken
and people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The
answer to the problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it
is simple: get rid of the underage part. With the thrill of breaking the law gone and
the access to the bar granted, people, especially college
External Locus Of Control
There are two different locus of control. One is internal and one is external. If you
have an internal locus of control you feel in control of your life and the events that
occur in them. If you have an external locus of control you feel that you do not have
control over your life or the events that occur in them. Depending on which locus of
controlyou have can be directly related to your self esteem and self concept. People
who have high self esteem and self concept are going to have an internal locus of
control. Whereas, people who have low self esteem and self concept will most
likely have an external locus of control (Lamberton Minor, 2014). I think that most
people do not have an internal locus of control in all situations. For example, in a
natural disaster or personal tragedy, you cannot control the events happening
around you. The only thing you can control is your reaction to these events. I
myself am a bit of a control freak. I like to be in control of my life and the situations
or experiences I may be involved in. In situations where I have no control I can get
very upset. It has taken me a long time to realize that I cannot control everything
and everyone in my life. All I can control is my reaction to the people in my life and
the situations I may be faced with where I do not have control. Getting... Show more

control in these situations I still had control over how I reacted. Just because I did

Meditation Essay On Meditation
Buddhist Meditation is a practice that consists of the channeling of the flow of the
mind. Habitually, our mind is consistently trying to create certain habits and patterns
and many of the time these patterns are developed without our knowledge. Yet,
meditation makes us aware of these habitual patterns through mindfulness, right
concentration, and the middle way fostering the goals of knowing the mind, shaping
the mind, and freeing the mind.
One of the main goals of Buddhist meditation includes the idea of the middle way the
creative and outgoing counterbalance that transcends the two extremes of self
punishment and overindulgence of the senses. This is depicted in Chapter 1 of Sarah

Mindfulness uses direct observation to see through perverted conceptions/views and
invalidate them, which leads to clarity of intention (the aim being to be aware of all
experience). Right Mindfulness incorporates being aware, scrutiny, and wisdom
leading to what we refer to as insightful meditation . Right Concentration, also
referred to in the Eightfold Path, incorporates the unification of the mind, settling,
and tranquility leading to what we refer to as calm meditation . The significance of
these two practices are that they allow us to achieve the four factors for spiritual
growth: association with admirable people, listening to the Dhamma (the teaching of
Buddha), wise reflection, and practice in accordance with the Dhamma. Mindfulness
is not simply an incorporation of the body, mind, feeling, and Dhamma it involves
distinguishing what is wholesome and what is unwholesome, as well as the
discernment of impermanence. The contribution of such practices allows us to be
aware of our habitual patterns and alter the usual way that mind operates which
produces dissatisfaction/ suffering with conscious

Academic Achievement Gap
INTRODUCTION
Background
The National Assessment for Educational Progress (2015) reported that there is an
academic achievement gap between black and white students. The academic
achievement gap refers to the statistical difference between the scores of students
with different backgrounds such as: race/ethnicity, gender disability and income.
Strategies to close the academic achievement gap are still being explored and
smaller class sizes could be an option (Achievement gaps, 2015). Class size refers to
the number of students in one class, and it varies by school district and grade. In
2003, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development reported that

When Buffett made a decision in expanding into insurance, the insurance industry

Berkshire s insurance companies from their competitors. Again this proves his market
acumen and visionary ability which helped to see future trend and understand
business well ahead of other rivals.
After Warren Buffettconverted Berkshire Hathaway from a textile to an insurance

Be fearful when others are greedy; be greedy when others are scared for their capital .
Mr. Buffett started expanding Berkshire Hathaway s business into life, accident and

The Impacts And Effects Of Pop Music In Korea
Pop music in Korea, as known as K pop, is in vogue. It is not only popular in Korea,
but countries all over Asia and even in Europe. Every teenage has heard one or two K
pop songs. In fact, similar tread occurred before. Canto pop (Hong Kong pop music)
and J pop (Japanese pop music) also become popular in the world since 1980s and
1970s. In this essay, backgrounds of the pop musicwill be discussed. The differences
in pop music among these three places and the impacts made will be included.
In the 1980s, Canto pop started its golden age. Stars like Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung,

When speaking of the difference of pop music between Hong Kong, Korea and

sentimental lyrics, the melancholic melody, and the banality of romance . Love
ballad became the mainstream in Hong Kong since 1970s so it is not a surprise that
people have a stereotypical impression on Canto pop. Famous singers like Eason

Plan For Successful A Registered Nurse
Success is achieved by setting a goal and taking steps towards that goal. Asking a
simple question like what do I want to do when I grow up? can start the
brainstorming process. The plan for success is much like creating a plan of care in
nursing. Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate. The key 5 steps for
achieving success are goalsetting, making an action plan, stay focused, reward
yourself, and be flexible (My success plan, 2015). Everybody is different and will
have different plans but this is my plan for success. My goals have changed quite a
few times since I initially set my goal to become a registered nurse. In high school
I participated in Instant Admit day which waived the application fee for SUNY
Canton and I would be instantly accepted. I was accepted into the pre nursing
curriculum which was two semesters of pre requisites that I needed in order to be
accepted into the RN program. I did well in the pre nursing curriculum so I applied
for the RN program first and then my second option was the LPN program. I did not
get accepted into the RN program for fall of 2014 but I was accepted into the LPN
program. My goals changed in order to be successful in the LPN program. I put all
my effort into the LPN program and passed the program and the NCLEX. I once

Comcast and Time Warner Cable Merger
Most everyone subscribes to some type of cable service. When Comcast
announced plans to merge with Time Warner Cable back in February, Congress
was quick to criticize the deal (Popelka). Many members of Congress were not in
favor of the merger, and rumors of an antitrust review were imminent (Popelka).
This is a great example of how U.S. antitrust policy has turned into a political game (
Popelka). Politicians may gain supporters, but no one is going to decrease the cost of
cable service to consumers (Popelka). Antitrust laws were put into place for a reason.
The Sherman Antitrust Actwas created to prevent monopolistic activities that
diminish consumer choice or competition (Popelka). In this case, the merger
between these two companies will not take away consumer choice because they
operate in different geographies (Popelka). Cable companies are struggling to keep
up with the demands of younger consumers who are interested in online services
instead of cable (Popelka). Politicians who oppose this merger are using the
Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI) to evaluate monopolystatus (Popelka). Comcast
has found a way around this so they can stay below a mythical 30 percent HHI
market share threshold (Popelka). Comcast will be appearing before the Senate
Judiciary Committee in April to answer questions about the merger with Time
Warner Cable (Carr). Many want to know how it is possible for the largest cable
company to acquire the second largest cable company (Carr).
Skeleton Key Quotes
First off, Alex is clever and curious in the book Skeleton Key. He was clever
throughout the book so far. At the start of the book it says, He ran on tip toe...
Now was the time to move (Horowitz 135 136). This quotes explains that he was
on a yacht and saw that one of his partners was in trouble and being held hostage.
Alex thought a diversion quickly, which was to set the yacht on fire. His goal was
to get everyone outside to help put out the fire while Alex and his partner escaped
without being seen. It went exactly as planned, but the boss was still in the room
and he had to kill him to save his partner. Further, the second reason he is clever is
how he fought the security guard. During the fight he is thinking how is he going to
attack the enemy and defend him while trying to find an escape during the fight....

The last reason he is clever was for a situations on the plane. The book says, Wait a
minute... asking him to carry it (Horowitz 148 149). The quote explains that he
was undercover with a couple of CIA agents and the woman who was acting as the
mother said he should keep is seatbelt because the seatbelt light was still on and
instead of saying no and make a scene with his fake mom he said ok mother and
put his seatbelt back on. Also at the start of the plane flight they have him a
Gameboy, which he thought was just a nice gift, but he realized they gave it to him
because he would look the least suspicious with it because it had gadgets in it which
would help them on the mission. The second word that describes Alex is curious.
Towards the beginning of the book it states, He was in a underground... telephone
conversation in his mind (Horowitz 46 47). The quote is about when he followed the
guard around the tennis courts to see whom he was going to meet. Later, he realized
that it was a trap, which led to the fight where he knocked out the security
Essay on The English Civil War
The English Civil War The English Civil War was a complicated, intellectual war
between the two most powerful forces in England: Parliament and the King.
Conflicts between the two powers began when King Charles I dissolved Parliament
in 1625 because they would not give him the money he demanded to fund his war
against Spain. Parliament, who was lead by John Pym, felt that the King was
showing favouritism towards the Roman Catholics, especially since Charles had
recently married the Roman Catholic French Princess. Although Charles recalled
Parliament in 1626, he proceeded to dissolve the second Parliament mainly because it
attempted to impeach him. John Pym, who had been prevented from being elected to
the second Parliament, was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While there were minor reforms to the system, the people, the Church and the
Monarchy of England went back to living their lives relatively the same as they
had before the start of the English Civil War. Violence during the English Civil war
effected hundreds of thousands of English civilians. However, while violence
killed thousands of people...the impact of the war as a war was surprisingly
limited. Casualties during the war were high: 190 000 people died in England and
868 000, or 11.6% of the population, perished within the British Isles. This number
was only a third of the amount of people who died in England during the great
plague of 1570 1670. King Charles II was content with putting things aside and
starting over again, and it seemed like the people of England were too. Although
women and children lost husbands and fathers, their loses were quickly replaced
by new husbands or relatives to help out. By the end of the war, most people
simply wanted to get on with their lives since there was nothing that they could
about the people they lost during the war. Many people forgot their differences and
were found even marrying across the barriers which were created during the war.
Damaged property was quickly repaired since it created jobs for civilians looking for
work. Buildings were destroyed, but since the war was not as explosive
No-Touch Rules Should Be Changed In Schools
Pda no touch rules should be changed in schools. For years kids have been being
taught the meaning of good touch bad touch now they are being taught to not touch
at all, kids cannot learn anything beneficial from this unusual rule. Some kids need
the hugs. And there isn t any reason why children should not be able to hug or even
high five a friend or teacher.
My first reason to support my topic is there isn t a reason why children cannot give
or receive hugs in school. We have been taught the meaning of good touch and bad
touch and now we are expected to not touch at all. Children cannot learn anything
from that. Kids need to be taught what the right way to touch someone and what is a
bad way to touch someone is. Let us say the person ... Show more content on

KAHFOOTY ( keep all hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself) bands all
hugging or contact . Banning bad touch is better than banning all touch, it is a
school that children learn in so they should be taught the difference between when
is ok to hug someone and when it isn t ok to hug someone. Let s say that Ben hugs
his best friend Megan when she is crying over a loss in the family, this is a
appropriate time to hug someone. But say Ben then goes into his classroom late
during a test and sees his other buddy Josh, and goes up and hugs him and makes
all sorts of noise. This is an example of a inappropriate time for hugging. they
should be taught how it is ok to hug someone and how it isn t. Like if Caleb goes
and hugs Ben from the side or a traditional hug, this is a right way and a appropriate
way to hug someone. But if Caleb goes and hugs Ben and also touches his backside
to be funny, this is a wrong way to hug someone. Banning hugging isn t needed
because children are going to hug their friends and getting a detention because you
hugged your friend would cause the parents to be a little more than agitated. Some
angry parents expressed their feelings online saying that the schools have bigger
issues than to worry about a child hugging another, like fights, or school shootings.
Another mother says There are bigger crimes than two children showing affection for
each
Pro Vaccination Cons
Another pro of vaccinations are that they protect others too. Imagine a child coming
to school who has an active case of Whooping Cough. (By the way, a school nearby
recently closed for a few days due to an outbreak of Whooping Cough.) The infected
child, (whose parents did not vaccinate) comes to school and infects other students in
his/her class. The teacher is also infected by the student. The students go home and
infect their parents and their younger siblings. The teacher goes home and infects her
children and her aging parents that she cares for. It s a domino effect. When we
vaccinate our children, we are protecting others that we love and care for. We protect
others in the community that has not been vaccinated themselves. It protects babies
who are too young to be vaccinated, the elderly, pregnant women, and persons in the
community with weakened immune systems for reasons such as chronic illnesses.
Are vaccinations safe? This is perhaps the biggest debate concerning vaccinations.
We have all heard stories in the news of the great controversy of vaccinations being
unsafe and possibly being the cause of Autism. What does the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) say about this matter? In order to be FDA approved, the
vaccination must go through an extensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On My Dream Of My Life
From Faulkner to Line December 23rd, 2015 was the day I dreamed of my whole
life. My boyfriend, Austin, was in town for Christmas from Fort Riley where he
was stationed with the army. After Austin picked me up from work we had to rush
home to eat dinner and change because we were going to take Christmas photos. I
had no idea where we were taking the photos at, Austin picked out the place. He was
going to wear his uniform for the photos, but he realized he forgot his tan under shirt
back in Kansas. I was upset because I really wanted him to wear his uniform for
some of our photos. I finished getting ready and we rushed to the closest and only
military apparel store hoping they would have a shirt in his size. They didn t have
a short sleeve shirt in his size but thankfully they had a long sleeve tan shirt that fit
him. We arrived at the destination for the photos and I fell in love. It was a
beautiful castle from the 1800s. I have lived right down the road from this castle
my whole life and never knew it existed. When we first arrived the guy that owned
it took us on a tour, to pick out the best place I wanted the photos taken. I saw this
beautiful Christmas tree and I fell in love with it. I told Austin that s where I wanted
the photos taken. We were taking photos just goofing off and Austin was shaking and
looked like he was about to cry then suddenly Austin

A new era of wrestling was born called the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling
Federation). The WWWF was founded by Vince McMahon Sr. and Toots Mondt
in the year of 1963 when Capital Wrestling broke away from the NWA. The
WWWF performed in the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston,
Washington D.C., Baltimore, and other smaller towns as well (Strongbow). A
man named Buddy Rogers was selected to be the very first WWWF champion in
1963. He was veteran wrestler at the time and was defeated by Bruno Sammartino
after only holding the title for only a few months. Sammartino held the title until
1971 until he was defeated by Ivan Koloff, who later on defeated Koloff in 1973
(Strongbow). The company was renamed from WWWF to WWF (World Wrestling
Federation) in 1979 ( Online World Of Wrestling ). Vince McMahon Sr. sold the
company to his son Vince McMahon Jr. in 1983 (Cohen). Vince set out to conquer
the wrestling world with his new company. One of Vince s first moves was signing
legend Hulk Hogan who is still considered one of the greatest WWF wrestlers to
this very day. He signed Hulk Hogan as an ambassador for his wrestling brand.
Vince had found out it was costing him a lot of money to be on TV. and needed to
do something big for his company. In 1985 the WWF made their first impact by
Vince getting Mr. T the main event match for the first Wrestlemania event; the WWF
was unstoppable.
The Importance Of Urban Graffiti Or Street Art
When is it appropriate to arrest someone for graffiti or street art?
Sometimes just a few words can get someone fined for graffiti. In the newsela
article Is urban graffiti a force for good or evil? it talks about how a city official
thought of a manchester graffiti artist as The next Banksy , while a tagger had to go
to jail for vandalism. Someone can get into trouble just by tagging something or
doing really great, beautiful art. This shouldn t happen. There are some people who
do deserve getting into trouble, but sometimes opinions shouldn t have to do with
any arrest; and sometimes a person can go to jail for graffiti when they don t deserve
it and sometimes a person can get away with graffiti when they shouldn t get away
with it.
There is a fine line between being allowed to do graffiti and not being allowed when
really, it s not as confusing and hard as it has to be.
For one example, when it should be allowed is when a person or company invites
you to come paint or do graffiti on a build that company or person owns. Like how
it is stated in the Newsela article Is urban graffiti a force for good or evil? . In this
article it says In 2008, the Tate Modern museum in London, England, invited six
artists to decorate its building with enormous, eye catching murals. It was the world
s first major public museum display of graffiti and street art. Another would be if a
person isn t harming anyone or thing and the building isn t owned and is abandoned.

The Problem Of The Assembly Division
Definition of Problem The problem for this module, concerns the less than
satisfactory production from the skilled assembly workers. The company states
they are not overworked and do not need anymore people to effectively do the job
that is required of them. Upon closer investigation into the assembly division, it is
found that workers are quite slow, but they are also quite disgruntled about the job
they are doing. The workers complain about the conditions in which they work,
their job security and the money they make. Moreover, it is also determined that
there is no feedback, reward system in place to compliment the subjects work, or
even goals for them to achieve. There is no passion within this division and the
workers only see their jobs as tasks to make money, they do not find their work
rewarding. In conclusion, these workers are not motivated. Workers find nothing
passionate about their tasks. They are not urged to do their best, but are asked to
accomplish goals which have not been explained. The only importance they see with
this job is that it provides a pay check.
Concepts that Address the Problem
Intrinsic Motivation
A major cause of the present issues with the workers within the assembly division is
in the area of motivation. It is written that there might no better factor in determining
the willingness of a person to give all they can than something entitled Intrinsic
Motivation. (Ryan, 2000) This type of motivation entails those things

Observing Wyatt s development in the life at seven and nine videos, it is evident
that there are many risk and strengthening factors that impacts a child s schooling

The environment in which we grow up in is one of them, development feeds of

headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas and was founded by Sam Walton. Wal
Mart is the world s largest company by revenue, according to Fortune Global 500
list in 2014 and the biggest private employer in the world with over two millions

Analysis Of The Man In Richard Wright s The Man Who
Was...
In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Dave finds himself
throughout the course of the story. Throughout the story, Dave is constantly seeking
the pleasure of obtaining and then eventually shooting a gun in order to be a man
and find himself. However, Dave does not expect the consequences that are to follow
the pursuit of pleasure. The moral of the story pertains to the role pleasure and its
consequences have in development and finding oneself. The story narrates a
common, but little talked about problem, that runs rampant in today s society. In the
story The ManWho Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright illustrates Dave s
development, or lack thereof, through the symbols of the gun, the train, and the mule.
The most obvious symbol mentioned in this story is the gun. Throughout the story,
the gun is constantly shown as a symbol for power, as well as masculinity and
independence. Several times throughout the course of the story the narrator states, If
anybody could shoot a gun, he could (Wright 222). In the fields, Dave is treated as a
child, and he believes that he is an adult and should be treated as once, which
includes owning a gun. Dave is disillusioned by the gun, and believes that it will
solve all of his problems and strengthen his weaknesses, including granting him
independence. Dave fails to realize that not being able to properly operate a gun only
relinquishes freedom. This can be further evidenced when Dave accidentally shoots
Jenny, the mule. This situation should have put an end to Dave s obsession with
power and guns, but instead he was still fascinated, demonstrating his lack of maturity
and development. Overall, the gun demonstrates the maturity, independence, and
developmental level that Dave wishes to achieve, but severely lacks.
Mr. Hawkins s mule, Jenny, represents Dave. Overall, Dave fears working on the
fields under everyone else for the rest of his life, constantly being treated as a child.
Dave connects with the mule and consciously draws connections between the two of
them such as the time Dave states, They treat me like a mule, n then they beat me
(Wright 221). Dave believes he is treated like a mule, and believes there is little hope

The Importance Of Mistreatment And Abuse Of Zoos
On average about 175 million people visit a zoo per year. However, the majority of
these people fail to notice a relative issue that is lying in front of their faces. That
these animals within these zoos are suffering every day from mistreatment and
abuse. Most of the society ignores the many factors that are displayed out in front of
them every time they enter a zoo. Instead, society focuses in on issues that are
happening right now, the issues that draw out the media and are on the cover of every
newspaper. However, these animals facing this mistreatment are relevant and do
impact society. Every time an animalis taken from the wild and placed in the
captivity of a zoo it impacts the mental healthof the animal and endangers everyone
and everything around it. Zoos are to blame for this endangerment, yet so is the
public for overlooking mistreatment such as an early death in animals, mental illness,
and being imported illegally from the wild.
When most of the society thinks of a zoo, they think of family fun and a weekend of
their childhood. However, what society fails to notice is that zoos are a deathtrap for
the animals living inside of them. Most animals in zoos die much earlier than they
do in the wild. One factor that causes this early death is entertainment for the
visitors. For example, according to the article, Killing Animals at the Zoo by Ian
Parker reveals two biology students were scheduled to dissect a young lion in front of
a family audience for a

A Structural and Vocabulary Analysis of John Donne s The Flea
In his poem The Flea , John Donne shows his mastery in creating a work in which
the form and the vocabulary have deliberately overlapping significance. The poem
can be analyzed for the prominence of threes that form layers of multiple meanings
within its three stanzas. In each of the three stanzas, key words can be examined to
show (through the use of the OED) how Donne brilliantly chose them because of the
various connotations they had to his audience. Finally, each of the three stanzas
contains completely different moods that reflect the speaker s emotions as the
situation changes.
Upon knowing some of John Donne s personal history, especially of his eventual high

According to the OED, anything that caused surprise or alarm was referred to as a
flea. Another common usage for the word flea was as an adjective. Something was
like a flea if it was small and contemptible. The third relevance was as a popular
phrase saying that there was a flea in one s ear. The OED definition of this saying
is, stinging or mortifying reproof, rebuff, or repulse, which sends one away
discomfited. It is easy to see the evolution of the word flea to the verb, to flee.
The second stanza can be summed up by the word jet. Jet also has several layers of
meaning. Donne writes, Though parents grudge, and you, we are met,/
And cloistered in these living walls of jet. The speaker is trying to convince a lady
to have an illicit tryst with him, and this line shows that he is being sneaky and sly
because they are somewhere dark and secretive. Jet literally means black and
shiny, just like a flea, but according to the OED, it also represents an action. A jet is
a sudden, darting movement and the speaker actually makes a jet towards the lady.
It is in this stanza that he makes his most ambitious argument to the lady, and
because this is obviously a sexual proposition, Donne s clever word selection
reveals why the third meaning of jet is especially relevant. Jet also has a phallic/male
connotation as the root of the word jetty (an outcropping of rocks

360 Peer Review
While reflecting on my time at the Chief Petty Officer s Academy (CPOA), three
elements of learning most impacted my persona and changed me as a leader. These
elements of learning include both class room presentations and personal interactions
with fellow attendees. The three elements of learning that will be discussed in this
paper are 360 peer review report, understanding generational gaps, and recognition
that everyone has different experiences within the mess. Each element has changed
how I view the Coast Guard and will shape my future interactions with others. The
first element of learningthat impacted me was that of the 360 peer review. I feared
and most anticipated this section because I value the constructive feedback I knew
it would give. I sent the survey to a mix of people, but more favored members in
which I was in a supervisor role while they were experiencing a personal hardship.
Therefore I was unsure of the response I would receive, but valued the input I
receive. It was great to know that I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This presentation was interesting to me because I have done my own studies on
the subject in order to become a better leader and father. The most interesting
aspect of the conversation was the input from others in the class. It was nice to
know that others were feeling the same way that I was when attempting to relate to
the up and coming generation. My roommate put it best to me in the form of an
analogy; a professional coach in sports does not ask their players to conform to
their rule, they conform to what works for the players. This analogy helped me
understand that I need to be more open to changing to my crew, other than requiring
my crew to change to my style. The end goal is to complete the mission, just like a
sports team if to win the game. We must work together and achieve the same goal. I
found this same concept valuable when working within the Chiefs
Cleisthenes As An Opportunist
Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520
BC and to c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person
who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning
or principle . For many, this sums up the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of
the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was given to improve the position
of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue that although
Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in
nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and
events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking
advantage of the opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family.
To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be
opportunistic is during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient
Greek author Herodotus, and in parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two
ancient authors with semi opposing views, with Herodotus being a stronger source
for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most historians believe
that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus
histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals
for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his
Achoo Syndrome Research Paper
Have you ever sneezed two to four times or maybe 40 times when you went out for a
walk, or when you went to the picture studio to have your picture taken and just could
not take a picture without sneezing? Achoo Syndrome or Autosomal Dominant
Compelling Helio Ophthalmic Outburst Syndrome is a condition that causes
uncontrollable sneezing because of bright light or intense sunlight. Achoo Syndrome
is also known as photic sneezing which means too much sunlight or too much light
can cause a person to sneeze multiple times or maybe once. This syndrome is a
dominant trait so therefore if one parent has the syndrome there is 50% chance that
their child could have it too. Achoo syndrome has not been yet evidentially or
clearly researched. Scientists do not understand how sunlight or light flashes can
cause a person to sneeze, every time a person is exposed to it. Some researchers
think Achoo syndrome is caused by a malfunction in the nerve which is connected to
the trigeminal nerve, and that could be connected to the visual nerve which makes
people sneeze when exposed to direct sunlight or light. Achoo syndrome affects about
18 35% of the population in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drivers and Piolets could lose control over the car and plane by sneezing. Players
could miss their chance in their games. People could get run over by cars if they
were crossing the road. Sneezing multiple times can be annoying to other people and
can cause attention to oneself. Achoo syndrome could be very dangerous but there
are somethings that could help prevent the syndrome. Sunglasses and umbrellas could
help prevent sneezing; also known as photic sneezing, and can bring safety to people

New Generation Of Ships For The Merchant Marine
Despite extensive renovations and unsympathetic additions to her superstructure,
The Emerald, as she was known for her final years of service, was in fact a
significant ship in maritime history. She was one of the last American built
passenger ships and steamships, able to survive years of obscurity and the
bankruptcy of two owners to have a long career.
Starting her life as Santa Rosa, her story began as part of the United States
Government s post World War II initiatives to encourage development of a new
generation of ships for the merchant marine. A beneficiary of these efforts, in 1954
Grace Line entered into a $286 million agreement for one of the largest ship
replacement programs in American history.
Grace Line was a storied firm, tracing its roots back to William Russell Grace, who
was born in 1832 in County Cork, Ireland. He established a trading business between
Peru, Europe and the United States, operating magnificent clipper ships before
transitioning from sail to steam. By the 1950s, Grace Line s fleet consisted of twenty
three passenger and cargo vessels operating on three Latin American trade routes,
including two 1932 built 10,000 gross ton sister ships, Santa Rosa and Santa Paula,
that offered fortnightly service from New York with stops in the Caribbean en route
to Columbia and Venezuela.
Grace s new passenger ships would be designed by America s preeminent naval
architect, William Francis Gibbs. His plans called for two, very solid looking 15,000

The haemostatic system is a process that keeps the blood in balance between
bleeding and thrombosis. In a healthy individual, blood is maintained in a stable
flowing state and is able to rapidly form a haemostatic plug that will prevent
unrestricted bleeding when a vessel is ruptured. The coagulation cascade is involved
in fibrin formation and it consists of the common, intrinsic and extrinsic ... Show

patients who have been diagnosed with venous thrombosis and its association with
activated protein C resistance.
COAGULATION
Coagulation is a process where there is a blood clot formation at the site of an
injured blood vessel. Once there has been an injury to the blood vessel wall,
vasoconstriction immediately occurs, and then we get primary haemostasis. Platelet
activation occurs in this process and they adhere to the subendothelial complex.
There is a formation of fibrin in this process and this leads to a haemostatic plug
being formed at the site of injury. Secondary haemostasis also occurs simultaneously
with primary haemostasis. In this process, tissue factors are involved in the initiation
of the coagulation cascade. The end result of the coagulation cascade is the activation
of thrombin. Thrombin is an important enzyme in haemostasis as it is needed for the
conversion of fibrinogen to an insoluble fibrin monomer to form the matrix of the
clot and also it is important for further platelet activation. (Khan and Dickerman,

Heart Rate Zone Training Research Paper
Heart rate zone training is a great way to train. This training method involves
tracking heart rate and determining heart rate zones in order to maximize workout
efforts. All that is required is some drive, a heart rate training app, a HR (heart rate)
monitor and an exercise plan. The key is knowing your numbers and knowing how to
train with a heart ratemonitor. Here s why heart rate zone training is so important.
Intensity Awareness
Using a HR monitor and linking it to a heart rate fitness app like MOTIFIT will
increase intensity awareness. When it comes to fitness, most people are either
working too hard or not working hard enough. Without the help of a monitor and a
heart rate training app it is impossible to know if you are working at

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if soft drinks manufactured by Coca
Cola use phosphoric acid in their product formula. An analysis of their product
concentrations of HCl and H3PO4 was performed using the potentiometric titration
method, with a standardized 0.1002 M NaOH solution. The molarities of HCl and
H3PO4 were determined by plotting the titration data, the first derivative, and the
second derivative of this data. The results of our analysis of the three trials found
the molarities of HCl to be 0.1232 M, 0.1232 M, and 0.1230 M, with a mean of
0.1231 M and an average deviation of 0.8 parts per thousand. We are 95%
confident that for this set of data, the true mean lies within the range of 0.1228 and
0.1234 M. The molarities of H3PO4 were found to be 0.1709 M, 0.1706 M, and
0.1702 M, with a mean of 0.1706 M and an average deviation of 1 part per
thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true mean lies within
the range of 0.1698 and 0.1714 M. These values compare well to literature values for

The Challenges Of A Reflection In Writing A Writing
Process

Reflection Essay I would describe my writing process as a fairly simple one. First I
would choose a topic that appealed to me. Secondly, I would just sit down and start
writing. Lastly, I usually wrote my paper in parts. I d skip the introduction and
conclusion till the very last tasks, so I always wrote my body paragraphs first. A
challenge I faced would be that I had writer s block for a few of my projects because
I did the writing structure out of order; specifically in The Texas Chain Saw
Massacre and Language and Power essays. The struggle was that I didn t create a
thesis before writing the body paragraphs, so I had no idea what I was writing.
Most of the time I came up with my points on the spot, which was quite
challenging. Sometimes I couldn t express what I wanted on paper clearly. The
ideas were in my head, but I didn t know how to form a sentence for them. I got
through the writer s block by looking through the readings and doing research if
needed. Doing this helped my papers reach the requirements for completion. The
benefit of writing my body paragraphs for these essays was that I had a few ideas
on what I could form my thesis on. Another challenge I encountered would be that
I often started a paper late or I didn t give myself enough time to finish a writing.
This was applicable to my satirical piece and rhetorical analysis. I m pretty sure I
came up with my idea a few days before my first
Irrational Decisions In Huck Finn
Through the novel we notice that both characters have a tendency to make
irrational and irresponsible decisions. Such as Pap who is not a good role model
to Huck as he beats his son and tends to be drunk most of the time throughout the
novel. This shows Pap as an irresponsible human being making irrational decisions.
Another good example is Although Huck is not a drunk or fights with others, he
still makes ignorant mistakes. Such as in chapter 10, Huck kills a rattlesnake to
play a prank on Jim by leaving it on Jim s bed but the snakes mate joins the dead
partner and when Jim gets into bed it bites him. Huck later realizes he had forgot
about placing the snake there and to make it worst he says that all comes of my

In the story we find that Huck has been living with a lady named Willow Douglas,
who happens to be his legal guardian. She is the reason Huck is civilized but he is
truly agitated by her because he cannot live freely and always has to follow her
rules and manners. In chapter 8 Pap tells Huck that people think there should be
another trail so your guardian can be the Widow, Huck is shaken by this through
and says I didn t want to go back to the widow s any more and be sivilized (Twain
134). Huck also wants to free from his father because he does not like the way his
old man treats him by locking him up and physically abusing him. We notice the
insane violence when Huck says Pap chased me round and round the place, with a
clasp knife, calling me the Angel of Death and saying he would kill me and then I
couldn t come for him no more (Twain 138). Pap Finn is also on the same boat of
wanting freedom because all he wants is the money that his son has to buy alcohol.
He does not care of about his son and he does not want to take any responsibilities
for anything, he just wants to be intoxicated and waste his life. The best criticism
towards Pap is given by Jim when he tells Huck Yo ole father doan know, yit, what
s he s a gwyne to do (Twain 131). This means that Pap does not have his life figured
out because he does not want to take responsibility and thus be
Assessing the Performance of Compute Unified Device...
The academic paper at hand aimed at assessing the performance of Compute Unified
Device Architecture (CUDA) programming for machining simulation. It has three
main dimensions, introducing the machining simulation algorithm parallelization,
discussing the main constraints related to the use of the CUDA architecture
proposing different solutions to the problem of parallelization with CUDA. Authors
have argued that the main purpose of machining simulations in Computer Aided
Manufacturing (CAM) software is to detect collisions between the tool and the part
on the whole part surface of manufactured goods. Such surfaces are employed to
provide sealing or friction functions, optical or aero dynamics properties. This task
requires specific geometrical deviations to be executed within a given manufacturing
process. More specifically, reducing the cycle time of developing a product will rely
on how to simulate the evolution of geometrical deviations of surfaces throughout the
manufacturing process.
The literature reveals that there are many methods to perform machining simulations.
For instance, methods based on a partition of the space by lines, by voxels or by
planes, methods based on meshes ... etc. However, simulations of the machined
surfaces in CAM software are very limited, purely geometric and don t include any
characteristic of the actual process that may damage the surface quality during
machining. Furthermore, these simulations do not provide the required accuracy

Tell All Truth But Tell It Slant Poem Analysis
Poetry is defined as writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness
of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional
response through meaning, sound, and rhythm (CITE) There are many great poets
but one of the most highly regarded is Emily Dickinson. Dickinson is considered
the recluse of Amherst, little did everyone know, she would turn out to be one of
the most influential poets of not only her time but forever. Two of her poems This
is my letter to the world, and Tell all truth but tell it slant both deal with society and
people s emotions. In the poem this is my letter to the world Emily writes about the
feeling she has as she leaves society. Tell all truth but tell it slant is a piece about how
the truth is not meant for everyone. Emily Dickinsonuses poetic devices such as
personification, rhymescheme, and metaphor to accurately convey the unique themes
of her pieces.
In Dickinson s poem This is My Letter to the World, she is expressing her
reclusiveness towards the world. What Emily means by this is that she wrote a
letter to the world, but the world does not know who she is since she never leaves
her home. She also writes about what nature has taught her in hopes to teach other
people lessons. In the closing of the poem she asks the readers to not judge her
harshly on what she has written. The overall theme of this poem is that if people
were to judge, they should judge by the truth. She does not want to be judged harshly
for separating herself from the world, she just wants to belong. She uses many
devices through all of her poems to help convey the overall theme. In the poem This
is My Letter to the World, Dickson uses the personification of nature, rhyme scheme,
and metaphor to show her overall theme.
Within the poem, Dickinson writes, The simple news that Nature told, With tender
majesty. Dickinson is using personification because nature cannot literally speak to
her and tell her the basic truths about life. In this poem, Dickinson communicates
with the world, though the message from Nature. She views nature as her friend,
which stresses to the reader that nature is personified. Dickinson uses slant rhyme
within the poem, she also uses

Neurobiology of Aging and the Diagnosis of Generalized...
The neurological deficits of aging may be viewed from a developmental perspective.
That is, the decline in functional efficiency and deterioration of highly specialized
non dividing neuronal cells is the end point of a maturation process that occurs
throughout adult life. Involution to senescence is a normal, inevitable, and
inexorable physiological march; the end phase of which is expressed in generally
predictable and specifically unpredictable ways. The earliest of these developmental
changes occurs long before senescence and the effects of these physiological events
quietly accumulate toward expression late in life. There is a relationship between
chronological age and the developmental dimensions of human life, including
behavior... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fetal Development Neuronal multiplication, differentiation, and migration are
occurring by the third week of embryonic life. Germinal cells proliferate in the matrix
layer adjacent to the neuroaxis lumen and undergo transformation into neuroblasts
which periodically migrate with great predictability to the marginal layer, which will
later becomes the cortex. Migration is completed near the fifth fetal month and
mitotic figures disappear by the end of the sixth fetal month. Thus by twenty four
weeks, the embryo has its full quota of neuronal mass. Further gross brain
development continues to birth with the enfolding of the surface to form sulci and
gyri and this predictable pattern is a reliable estimate of fetal age. Definitive
cytoarchitectural patterns are evidenced at birth, which are the products of
myelination having occurred at various levels at specific times, as well as the growth
of glial cells. Visual tracts become myelinated soon after birth, and the corticospinal
tracts continue to myelinate into the second year of postnatal life, after which time
most myelination of the cerebrum is becoming complete. Brain growth continues at a
slowing pace postnatally until the fifteenth year, when the average adult female brain
weighs 1230 to 1275 g. and the average adult male brain weighs 1350 to 1410 g.
Myelination continues throughout the period, also at a declining rate. Studies of
ontogenic myelination demonstrate different rates of
Kongo Diffusion
Ivory, gold, silver, kola nuts, cloth and enslaved people were wanted from the rest of
the world from Africa. Swahili City States and Kongo were two African civilizations
that had changed through cultural diffusion due to trade. Swahili City states were
located on the East coast of Africa, where they traded many fascinating goods and
products through the Indian Ocean. During the MIddle Ages, they traded with Persia,
India, Arabia and other inland African countries. In the Great Zimbabwe, there was
gold located in the ground and Arabic traders ventured through the disasters of the
Indian Ocean, for example monsoons, so they could trade their knives for products
from ivory, gold, and slaves. The monotheistic religion of Islam was converting
people because of cultural diffusion and trade. Islamic traders brought their faith and
belief with them as they traded with the Swahili people. Soon... Show more content

The arrival of new seen and unseen culture, like new goods and enslaved people,
were some ways Kongo was affected by cultural diffusion. The Portuguese traded
china plates, guns and knives for enslaved people. The African Kingdom traded
with the Europeans because it was socially accepted and promoted. What the
African country didn t realize was that trading with the Portuguese would demolish
the country. It was estimated that by 1680, nearly one million enslaved africans
were taken by the Kongo region to be traded as slaves exploitation. In addition to
new goods through trade, christianity was also introduced to the Congolese people.
The Mani Kongo , who was the king of the region, was converted from the
Portuguese Missionaries. Not only did the missionaries convert the king, but as
well as his son, who later got baptized and given the first christian name, Affonso

Narrative Essay On Life. Step-by-Step Guide How to Write Narrative Essay 2023 Update

  • 1. Narrative Essay On Life Writing a narrative essay on the topic of life is no small feat; it's akin to capturing the essence of existence within the confines of a few pages. Life, being an intricate tapestry of experiences, emotions, and reflections, poses a considerable challenge to encapsulate in a coherent and engaging narrative. The difficulty lies not only in selecting and organizing the myriad moments that constitute one's life but also in articulating them with the depth and resonance they deserve. Crafting a compelling narrative necessitates a delicate balance between introspection and storytelling. The writer must delve into the recesses of their memories, extracting the meaningful episodes that have shaped their journey. This introspective process, though rewarding, can be emotionally taxing, requiring the author to confront the highs and lows, joys, and sorrows that have woven the fabric of their existence. Moreover, the challenge extends to the art of storytelling itself. The narrative must be more than a mere chronological recollection; it should be a vivid portrayal that captures the reader's imagination and empathy. The language must be evocative, the pacing well-calibrated, and the transitions seamless. It involves the intricate dance of words, where each sentence contributes to the overall melody of the narrative. In essence, writing a narrative essay on life requires not just writing skills but a profound understanding of one's own experiences and the ability to distill them into a narrative that resonates universally. It's a journey of self-discovery and expression, demanding both vulnerability and literary finesse. At the intersection of life's complexity and the art of storytelling, the writer grapples with the challenge of encapsulating the ineffable. Yet, in this struggle, there lies the potential for a narrative that transcends the personal and speaks to the shared human experience. For those seeking assistance in navigating this formidable task, it's worth noting that similar essays and a plethora of writing services can be explored. One such avenue is HelpWriting.net, where writers with expertise in various genres stand ready to transform life's stories into eloquent narratives. Narrative Essay On Life Narrative Essay On Life

  • 4. Why I Chose A Fitting Career Choice For Me The most asked questions throughout everyone s young adulthood or childhood is what career have you decided on? or What are you going to college for? . For me, the question that comes after announcing my career choice is What made you decide to enter that field? . My response is always the same. The answer I give is because of my passion for helping others and the satisfaction of knowing I succeeded in assisting families and the deceased. I believe I have skills which are ideal for employment in the field. My skills include: organization, dedication, time management, compassion for others and my work, adaptability, responsibility, detail oriented, professional, and self motivation. I believe I chose a fitting career choice for me.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The profession also has negatives. One of the negatives is dealing with emotional families and difficult cases. Each family has their different ways of grieving, some are not the greatest ways. The hardest part is having to watch them go through the pain they are in. As a funeral director, it is part of the job to help them cope as best as you can and to make sure the funeral runs smooth while having all the components the family wanted. The second negative is trying to make the hard wishes of the deceased family come true. Sometimes their religion or preferences requires extraordinary tasks in which you may have to find a way to make them happen or find an alternative to the wishes. The third negative is planning your personal schedule and not being able to have time off to do personal tasks, like spending time with family or going to events. This will affect me more when I decide to have children. Although this is a negative, I knew about the circumstance before entering the field. Death does not occur just because the time is convenient for me. The fourth negative is having early mornings and calls throughout the middle of the night. This is a profession where constant alert is required at all times. Services and deaths do not stop just because I had a call in the middle of the night. Others lives still go on and the world does not revolve around when I need sleep. Although the career has negatives and positives, I

Mr. Covey seemed now to think he had me, and could do what he pleased; but at this moment from whence came the spirit I don t know I resolved to fight; and, suiting my action to the resolution, I seized Covey hard by the throat; and as I did so, I rose. (Douglass 112, chapt. 10) In Chapter 10 of Frederick Douglass Narrative of the Life of... an American Slave, Douglass describes an important incident in which he forces backward the standard master slave hierarchy of beating privileges against his temporary master, Mr. Covey. The victory proves for Douglass a remarkable source of renewed yearning for freedom and of self confidence; as he rose physically, standing up to fight, he rose in spirit. An examination of the Narrative through a signification sensitive lens, as defined by Abrahams and discussed by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in The Signifying Monkey, with attention to narrative detail, will reveal how Douglass both achieves and reflects through his Narrative a powerful independence of self and spirit which itself is independent of both Northern allies and legal and bodily freedom. Many would argue with justification that Frederick Douglass has adopted, to forge his narrative voice, a strong tool of the white, educated society which, in its Southern substantiation, has held him captive. Douglass in part takes the reins of his destiny by (eventually and initially nervously, according to the Narrative) addressing an audience which would once have been unaddressable. When Douglass was a slave the most contact he had with the abolitionists was, at best, their addressing of him, in small, distant doses, through the literature of which Douglass managed to get a hold. A slave can take orders from Southern whites and occasionally receive information or ideas from Northern whites (or abolitionists), but a certain degree of power or status, springing out of ability and freedom to articulate, is required to address them in return. The power to address is, in a small way, a sign of equal intellectual and social footing. Literacy and articulation are very closely linked for Douglass. During his struggle to learn how to read, he says, some anti slavery arguments

  • 9. Essay on The Use of Appetite Suppressants The Use of Appetite Suppressants In the past two decades, Americans and most of the Western world have become obsessed with losing weight. Countless diets, weight loss strategies and gimmicks have been and remain on the market and cost Americans billions of dollars every year. The media perpetuates this ideal of thinness and so people continue in desperate attempts to shrink their bodies. People have gone to extreme measures such as stomach stapling, liposuction and starvation diets to try and take off excess weight. Many Americans are willing to do whatever is necessary to look a certain way, no matter what the cost. Sometimes these costs outweigh the benefits of losing weight. Oftentimes, when people diet and lose weight, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hypothalamus helps to tell the body when to give off hunger signals. PPA interrupts this system and thus, the individual s appetite is somewhat curbed. Because the appetite is curbed, the individual desires less food and ultimately loses weight. Appetite Suppressants have been around for a number of years. Some people have actually taken them for years and years in attempt to curb their appetite. One main appetite suppressant that has been around since the early 1900 s is Phenylpropanolamine. Phenylpropanolamine, also known as PPA is the main ingredient in common appetite suppressants like Dexatrim, Vitaslim, Hungrex and Acutrim. PPA is a non methylated form of Ephidrine (Morgan, p.3). PPA first became known as a nasal decongestant and is still used in these over the counter drugs today. Although PPA is the substance found in a number of cough/cold remedies, it is also the active ingredient in most appetite suppressants. Numerous studies have been done surrounding the effects of PPA on weight loss. Most studies show that using the appetite suppressant, PPA along with diet and exercise will promote weight loss. PPA has been shown to be extremely effective in helping people eat less and achieve the ultimate goal of losing weight. In 1975, a study with 70 volunteers concluded the subjects lost three times as much weight while taking PPA than while taking the placebo (Lasagna, p.393). Another
  • 10. Drinking Age Essay Drinking Age When teen agers turn 18, they are told that they are adults and are sent into the world. They go to college, get a job, marry or join the military. They do grown up things like vote, pay taxes and become parents. But they can t go to the pub for a beer because when it comes to liquor, they are still just kids. Where s the fairness in the 21 and older drinking law? First, it is necessary to question this law. Why is 21 the magical age that makes one intelligent and mature enough to consume alcohol? Surely, some adults abuse alcohol and some teenagers would be perfectly able to drink responsibly. This seemingly arbitrary number is associated with adulthood, as if the day a person turns 21 they know everything and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When they have the opportunity to drink, they do so in an irresponsible manner because drinking by these youth is seen as a badge of rebellion against authority and a symbol of adulthood. Clearly, this kind of devious attitude does not encourage responsible drinking. While young people in foreign countries learn to regard moderate drinking as an enjoyable social activity, young Americans view it as something they have to sneak around to do. If 18 year olds do not have legal access to even a beer in a public place, they are ill equipped to deal with the responsibilities that come with drinking when they do have the right. The drinking age should be lowered because the current age has no real basis. With a lowered drinking age, fewer problems will be present. Safe drinking needs to be taught, along with drinking in moderation. All of the arguments for having a raised drinking level or retaining the current one are weak. The problems that make a drinking age limit necessary are better solved through a lowered drinking level. Tightening the laws on underage drinking is wrong, as laws will still be broken and people 20 years, 364 days and younger will continue to consume alcohol. The answer to the problem of underage drinking is not to add more restrictions, rather, it is simple: get rid of the underage part. With the thrill of breaking the law gone and the access to the bar granted, people, especially college
  • 11. External Locus Of Control There are two different locus of control. One is internal and one is external. If you have an internal locus of control you feel in control of your life and the events that occur in them. If you have an external locus of control you feel that you do not have control over your life or the events that occur in them. Depending on which locus of controlyou have can be directly related to your self esteem and self concept. People who have high self esteem and self concept are going to have an internal locus of control. Whereas, people who have low self esteem and self concept will most likely have an external locus of control (Lamberton Minor, 2014). I think that most people do not have an internal locus of control in all situations. For example, in a natural disaster or personal tragedy, you cannot control the events happening around you. The only thing you can control is your reaction to these events. I myself am a bit of a control freak. I like to be in control of my life and the situations or experiences I may be involved in. In situations where I have no control I can get very upset. It has taken me a long time to realize that I cannot control everything and everyone in my life. Habitually, our mind is consistently trying to create certain habits and patterns and many of the time these patterns are developed without our knowledge. Asking a simple question like what do I want to do when I grow up? can start the brainstorming process. The plan for success is much like creating a plan of care in nursing. When Comcast announced plans to merge with Time Warner Cable back in February, Congress was quick to criticize the deal (Popelka). Many members of Congress were not in favor of the merger, and rumors of an antitrust review were imminent (Popelka). This is a great example of how U.S. antitrust policy has turned into a political game ( Popelka). Politicians may gain supporters, but no one is going to decrease the cost of cable service to consumers (Popelka). Antitrust laws were put into place for a reason. The Sherman Antitrust Actwas created to prevent monopolistic activities that diminish consumer choice or competition (Popelka). In this case, the merger between these two companies will not take away consumer choice because they operate in different geographies (Popelka). Cable companies are struggling to keep up with the demands of younger consumers who are interested in online services instead of cable (Popelka). Politicians who oppose this merger are using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI) to evaluate monopolystatus (Popelka). Comcast has found a way around this so they can stay below a mythical 30 percent HHI market share threshold (Popelka). Comcast will be appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in April to answer questions about the merger with Time Warner Cable (Carr). Many want to know how it is possible for the largest cable company to acquire the second largest cable company (Carr).

Conflicts between the two powers began when King Charles I dissolved Parliament in 1625 because they would not give him the money he demanded to fund his war against Spain. Parliament, who was lead by John Pym, felt that the King was showing favouritism towards the Roman Catholics, especially since Charles had recently married the Roman Catholic French Princess. Let s say that Ben hugs his best friend Megan when she is crying over a loss in the family, this is a appropriate time to hug someone. But say Ben then goes into his classroom late during a test and sees his other buddy Josh, and goes up and hugs him and makes all sorts of noise. This is an example of a inappropriate time for hugging. they should be taught how it is ok to hug someone and how it isn t. Like if Caleb goes and hugs Ben from the side or a traditional hug, this is a right way and a appropriate way to hug someone. But if Caleb goes and hugs Ben and also touches his backside to be funny, this is a wrong way to hug someone. Banning hugging isn t needed because children are going to hug their friends and getting a detention because you hugged your friend would cause the parents to be a little more than agitated. Some angry parents expressed their feelings online saying that the schools have bigger issues than to worry about a child hugging another, like fights, or school shootings. Distinctive capability set Walmart apart from competitors and made them successful in the market place. For example Wal Mart distinctive capability is supply chain, professional sports is choosing the right players, Netflix is predicting customer movie preferences etc. Without distinctive capability you cannot be analytics competitor because there is no clear process or activity for analytics support. Secondly, Walmart has adopted enterprise level approach to management, this ensures that the data and analysis are made available broadly
  • 33. Analysis Of The Man In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was... In Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Dave finds himself throughout the course of the story. Throughout the story, Dave is constantly seeking the pleasure of obtaining and then eventually shooting a gun in order to be a man and find himself. However, Dave does not expect the consequences that are to follow the pursuit of pleasure. The moral of the story pertains to the role pleasure and its consequences have in development and finding oneself. The story narrates a common, but little talked about problem, that runs rampant in today s society. In the story The ManWho Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright illustrates Dave s development, or lack thereof, through the symbols of the gun, the train, and the mule. The most obvious symbol mentioned in this story is the gun. Throughout the story, the gun is constantly shown as a symbol for power, as well as masculinity and independence. Several times throughout the course of the story the narrator states, If anybody could shoot a gun, he could (Wright 222). In the fields, Dave is treated as a child, and he believes that he is an adult and should be treated as once, which includes owning a gun. Dave is disillusioned by the gun, and believes that it will solve all of his problems and strengthen his weaknesses, including granting him independence. Dave fails to realize that not being able to properly operate a gun only relinquishes freedom. This can be further evidenced when Dave accidentally shoots Jenny, the mule. This situation should have put an end to Dave s obsession with power and guns, but instead he was still fascinated, demonstrating his lack of maturity and development. Overall, the gun demonstrates the maturity, independence, and developmental level that Dave wishes to achieve, but severely lacks. Mr. Hawkins s mule, Jenny, represents Dave. Overall, Dave fears working on the fields under everyone else for the rest of his life, constantly being treated as a child. Dave connects with the mule and consciously draws connections between the two of them such as the time Dave states, They treat me like a mule, n then they beat me (Wright 221). Dave believes he is treated like a mule, and believes there is little hope for anything

  • 35. The Importance Of Mistreatment And Abuse Of Zoos On average about 175 million people visit a zoo per year. However, the majority of these people fail to notice a relative issue that is lying in front of their faces. That these animals within these zoos are suffering every day from mistreatment and abuse. Most of the society ignores the many factors that are displayed out in front of them every time they enter a zoo. Instead, society focuses in on issues that are happening right now, the issues that draw out the media and are on the cover of every newspaper. However, these animals facing this mistreatment are relevant and do impact society. Every time an animalis taken from the wild and placed in the captivity of a zoo it impacts the mental healthof the animal and endangers everyone and everything around it. Zoos are to blame for this endangerment, yet so is the public for overlooking mistreatment such as an early death in animals, mental illness, and being imported illegally from the wild. When most of the society thinks of a zoo, they think of family fun and a weekend of their childhood. However, what society fails to notice is that zoos are a deathtrap for the animals living inside of them. Most animals in zoos die much earlier than they do in the wild. One factor that causes this early death is entertainment for the visitors. For example, according to the article, Killing Animals at the Zoo by Ian Parker reveals two biology students were scheduled to dissect a young lion in front of a family audience for a

A Structural and Vocabulary Analysis of John Donne s The Flea In his poem The Flea , John Donne shows his mastery in creating a work in which the form and the vocabulary have deliberately overlapping significance. The poem can be analyzed for the prominence of threes that form layers of multiple meanings within its three stanzas. In each of the three stanzas, key words can be examined to show (through the use of the OED) how Donne brilliantly chose them because of the various connotations they had to his audience. Finally, each of the three stanzas contains completely different moods that reflect the speaker s emotions as the situation changes. According to the OED, anything that caused surprise or alarm was referred to as a flea. Another common usage for the word flea was as an adjective. Something was like a flea if it was small and contemptible. The third relevance was as a popular phrase saying that there was a flea in one s ear. The OED definition of this saying is, stinging or mortifying reproof, rebuff, or repulse, which sends one away discomfited. It is easy to see the evolution of the word flea to the verb, to flee. The second stanza can be summed up by the word jet. Jet also has several layers of meaning. Donne writes, Though parents grudge, and you, we are met,/ And cloistered in these living walls of jet. The speaker is trying to convince a lady to have an illicit tryst with him, and this line shows that he is being sneaky and sly because they are somewhere dark and secretive. Jet literally means black and shiny, just like a flea, but according to the OED, it also represents an action. A jet is a sudden, darting movement and the speaker actually makes a jet towards the lady. It is in this stanza that he makes his most ambitious argument to the lady, and because this is obviously a sexual proposition, Donne s clever word selection reveals why the third meaning of jet is especially relevant. Jet also has a phallic/male connotation as the root of the word jetty (an outcropping of rocks

  • 41. Cleisthenes As An Opportunist Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up the rule of Cleisthenesas he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family. To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his

COAGULATION Coagulation is a process where there is a blood clot formation at the site of an injured blood vessel. Once there has been an injury to the blood vessel wall, vasoconstriction immediately occurs, and then we get primary haemostasis. Platelet activation occurs in this process and they adhere to the subendothelial complex. There is a formation of fibrin in this process and this leads to a haemostatic plug being formed at the site of injury. Secondary haemostasis also occurs simultaneously with primary haemostasis. In this process, tissue factors are involved in the initiation of the coagulation cascade. The end result of the coagulation cascade is the activation of thrombin. Thrombin is an important enzyme in haemostasis as it is needed for the conversion of fibrinogen to an insoluble fibrin monomer to form the matrix of the clot and also it is important for further platelet activation. First I would choose a topic that appealed to me. Secondly, I would just sit down and start writing. Lastly, I usually wrote my paper in parts. I d skip the introduction and conclusion till the very last tasks, so I always wrote my body paragraphs first. A challenge I faced would be that I had writer s block for a few of my projects because I did the writing structure out of order; specifically in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Language and Power essays. The struggle was that I didn t create a thesis before writing the body paragraphs, so I had no idea what I was writing. Most of the time I came up with my points on the spot, which was quite challenging. Sometimes I couldn t express what I wanted on paper clearly. The ideas were in my head, but I didn t know how to form a sentence for them. I got through the writer s block by looking through the readings and doing research if needed. Doing this helped my papers reach the requirements for completion. The benefit of writing my body paragraphs for these essays was that I had a few ideas on what I could form my thesis on. Another challenge I encountered would be that I often started a paper late or I didn t give myself enough time to finish a writing. This was applicable to my satirical piece and rhetorical analysis. I m pretty sure I came up with my idea a few days before my first

It has three main dimensions, introducing the machining simulation algorithm parallelization, discussing the main constraints related to the use of the CUDA architecture proposing different solutions to the problem of parallelization with CUDA. Authors have argued that the main purpose of machining simulations in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software is to detect collisions between the tool and the part on the whole part surface of manufactured goods. Such surfaces are employed to provide sealing or friction functions, optical or aero dynamics properties. This task requires specific geometrical deviations to be executed within a given manufacturing process. More specifically, reducing the cycle time of developing a product will rely on how to simulate the evolution of geometrical deviations of surfaces throughout the manufacturing process. The literature reveals that there are many methods to perform machining simulations. For instance, methods based on a partition of the space by lines, by voxels or by planes, methods based on meshes ... etc. However, simulations of the machined surfaces in CAM software are very limited, purely geometric and don t include any characteristic of the actual process that may damage the surface quality during machining. Furthermore, these simulations do not provide the required accuracy within a

Tell All Truth But Tell It Slant Poem Analysis Poetry is defined as writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm (CITE) There are many great poets but one of the most highly regarded is Emily Dickinson. Dickinson is considered the recluse of Amherst, little did everyone know, she would turn out to be one of the most influential poets of not only her time but forever. Two of her poems This is my letter to the world, and Tell all truth but tell it slant both deal with society and people s emotions. In the poem this is my letter to the world Emily writes about the feeling she has as she leaves society. Tell all truth but tell it slant is a piece about how the truth is not meant for everyone. Emily Dickinsonuses poetic devices such as personification, rhymescheme, and metaphor to accurately convey the unique themes of her pieces. In Dickinson s poem This is My Letter to the World, she is expressing her reclusiveness towards the world. What Emily means by this is that she wrote a letter to the world, but the world does not know who she is since she never leaves her home. She also writes about what nature has taught her in hopes to teach other people lessons. In the closing of the poem she asks the readers to not judge her harshly on what she has written. The overall theme of this poem is that if people were to judge, they should judge by the truth. She does not want to be judged harshly for separating herself from the world, she just wants to belong. She uses many devices through all of her poems to help convey the overall theme. In the poem This is My Letter to the World, Dickson uses the personification of nature, rhyme scheme, and metaphor to show her overall theme. Within the poem, Dickinson writes, The simple news that Nature told, With tender majesty. Dickinson is using personification because nature cannot literally speak to her and tell her the basic truths about life. In this poem, Dickinson communicates with the world, though the message from Nature. She views nature as her friend, which stresses to the reader that nature is personified. Fetal Development Neuronal multiplication, differentiation, and migration are occurring by the third week of embryonic life. Germinal cells proliferate in the matrix layer adjacent to the neuroaxis lumen and undergo transformation into neuroblasts which periodically migrate with great predictability to the marginal layer, which will later becomes the cortex. Migration is completed near the fifth fetal month and mitotic figures disappear by the end of the sixth fetal month. Thus by twenty four weeks, the embryo has its full quota of neuronal mass. Further gross brain development continues to birth with the enfolding of the surface to form sulci and gyri and this predictable pattern is a reliable estimate of fetal age. Definitive cytoarchitectural patterns are evidenced at birth, which are the products of myelination having occurred at various levels at specific times, as well as the growth of glial cells.
