Sample College Admissions Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Sample College Admissions Essay" can be a challenging yet
rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling narrative about
oneself but also in striking the delicate balance between showcasing personal achievements,
ambitions, and character without coming across as boastful or insincere.
Firstly, the writer must navigate the fine line between confidence and humility. It's essential to
highlight achievements and experiences that make one stand out, but too much self-promotion
can be off-putting to readers. Striking this balance requires a keen understanding of one's
strengths and a thoughtful approach to presenting them.
Furthermore, the essay should be a genuine reflection of the writer's personality and aspirations.
Crafting a narrative that is both authentic and captivating demands introspection and self-
awareness. Delving into personal experiences and lessons learned can add depth to the essay, but
translating these reflections into eloquent prose is no small feat.
Additionally, the task involves tailoring the content to align with the specific requirements and
values of the targeted college. This necessitates thorough research into the institution's ethos,
programs, and culture. The challenge here lies in seamlessly integrating this information into the
narrative without compromising the essay's flow and coherence.
The writing process also involves multiple drafts and revisions to refine the language, structure,
and overall impact of the essay. This iterative process demands patience and a willingness to
critically evaluate and rework the content. Crafting a memorable and impactful essay requires
not just writing skills but also a commitment to continuous improvement.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing a compelling "Sample College Admissions Essay" is
no small feat. It involves navigating the complexities of self-presentation, authenticity, and
alignment with the college's values. However, with dedication, introspection, and a keen eye for
detail, a writer can successfully convey their unique story and make a lasting impression on
admissions committees.
If you find yourself seeking assistance in this endeavor or similar tasks, various resources are
available, including professional writing services. Platforms likeHelpWriting.net offer support
in crafting essays and more, providing a valuable option for those who may benefit from
additional guidance in the writing process.

Half Life Research Paper
Half Life, everybody loves Half Life right? One of the most successful games in
history, it s been given countless awards in the time since it s release. With people
to this day still developing Half Life mods you d expect them to have built upon
the original to try to improve its quality. Some, like Black Mesa have, others, like
Sven Co op have most certainly not. Now don t get me wrong, it has nothing bad
about it in principle, the idea was to add multiplayer missions to Half Life and
allow players to combine their strength against bots. On paper the idea of
multiplayer Half Life sounds amazing, however all things come at a cost, and this
mod paid that cost dearly. In terms of its original function Sven co op serves its
purpose fine, with players all on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found the AI had much higher numbers than the players on every server, reaching
upwards of 300 enemies in 10 minutes on some. The servers actually had at most 32
or so players but that many can cause a lot of damage. So much havoc was caused
in fact, that the players could lag the server to a halt. Unfortunately for the game
this took very little to manage, because when such a large group of people are all
causing explosions and banging on walls, or all trying to fit down one passageway
while trying to hit each other with crowbars. So the servers lag out too easily, of
course, I imagine a lot of games would have this problem if the players could run
amok too. However part of the blame for this rests with Half Life, its engine wasn t
built to support 32 living players working together and heavy instances of AI beside
them. There were other errors and problems that aren t the fault of Valve, like the
fact that there was no way to mute players spamming the voice and text chat (and
boy did they), or that the guns either did virtually no damage to enemies or would
one shot them every

I never imagined myself transferring, it just wasn t part of my plan, and habitually
when transformation or transitioning occur, I adapt. Usually. As my reserved
personality highlights, I ve never been one to take extraordinary risks or be bold
when something isn t quite right. But during this first year of my collegeexperience,
being bold is becoming more substantial to my success.
Louisiana Tech Universityinitially appeared to be satisfactory in suiting my wants in
a higher education. Considerately, scholarships were offered, as well as the
opportunity to explore a region of which I was unfamiliar with. LA Tech also had a
specific Graphic Design major program, of which caught most of my attention. The
excitement to take on the differences that come with attending a university out of
state was inviting. Looking from the outside in, there was nothing that raised any
significant flags as to why I should have avoided the school and venture somewhere
else.

Gradually, this expectation became a looming thought in my mind; What would I
be getting out of my education, if expectations were low, and pushing the
boundaries of these expectations in place was ground I had already covered? I
craved more intense challenges, intellectually and creatively creativity
corresponding with my chosen field of study. The school itself isn t inadequate in
offering these challenges, but as someone who came from a beginning of
competition, I felt out of place, and that I had more potential to discover and to
explore. Following suit, I realized I simply needed a place that would have me use
that potential, and then to go beyond that. I never wanted an easy degree; I have the
ambition to struggle and to be pushed forward in new directions to find the best of

George Washington Military Life Essay
The Military Life of George Washington
George Washington, a man of many military achievements, brought ragtag farmers to
military men, and destroyed the most powerful army in the world. Washington was
appointed the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775.
Washington, who had military experience before serving in the Continental Army, had
never commanded an army of this size. He was appointed leader of the Continental
Army because John Hancock, president of the Second Continental Congress, thought
of him as a man of great character who would help unite the colonies. Brilliant
character and leadership help George Washingtonwin battles over the British, and
make farmers into true military men.

Training the farmers was a hard task for George Washington since there is only one of
him and thousands of other farmers who did not know what to do. Also, the colonies
had a poor track record of working together effectively. During the Battle of Saratoga,
Ben Franklin created a military alliance with the French. The French in return sent
Marquis de Lafayette, a high ranking general in the French military, to meet with
George Washington. Lafayette was sent over to give the farmers supplies, and to help
train to become true military men. Training the farmers took a lot of hard work to get
them prepared for the war they were entering. An example of farmers being turned
into fighters to defeat the British Army occurred during the winter of Valley Forge.
The farmers were forced to overcome adversity such as disease, starvation, and lack of
warmth. They needed motivation which George Washington gave them. Washington
encouraged them that they have what it takes to defeat the greatest army in the
world. The only thing that Washington could not help with was the pain. Mind over
matter. A positive attitude can accomplish anything. Washington could not stress that
enough. Another way that the farmers became military men was their fight at the
Battle of Bunker Hill. They did significant damage to the British. giving them self

A Speech On Women s Rights
I wonder why we take from our women why we rape our women, do we hate our
women? I think it s time to kill for our women (Tupac) this is a line from Tupac s
song titled Keep your head up where he talks about all the wrong men do to
women. Women have always been look at as less than a man and in the 1960 s the
women were at an all time high with being fed up with being looked at as less and
fought for equal rights for women. Shirley Chisholm was one of the biggest leaders
for women s rightsbut not only did she fight women s rights she was a black women
so he was also apart of the civil rights movements. May 21st 1969 Shirley Chisholm
delivered a speech in front of the house of representatives where she points out all the
wrongs that are being done to women in the job force.
Mrs. Shirley Chisholm starts her speech with a very strong point in my opinion by
saying that when a young women graduates from college and goes off to look for
work the the thing that she will be asked is if she can type. Now that question is
obviously disrespectful to a young lady who just put in a lot of work to graduate
college to just be a receptionist without a proper interview. Women are not allowed to
hold higher positions in the workplace they Chisholm say that The unspoken
assumption is that women are different. They do not have executive ability orderly
minds, stability, leadership skills, and they are too emotional. (Chisholm) Women
have never been given the chance to prove that the
Why Undertale Is Bad

which got popular around the world for its morals, clever story, goofy characters
and humour. However, many people who haven t played Undertale already cringe
at the name and call it overrated. Before I explain, there are a few reasons why
Undertale is hated on. People hate the fans for them being everywhere and being too
loud and they believe that the game is bad if the fans are bad. The game is actually

It also shows that fictional characters don t have perfect lives and they suffer from
problems. The main characters are Flowey, Toriel, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne,
Alphys, Mettaton and King Asgore. Flowey the flower sounds nice enough, but
instead, a murderous plants who holds countless bullets. It seems horrible, but the
only reason why it wants to kill is because it can t feel any emotion, so it tries to
feel something. Toriel protects you from danger but is lonely and worried for your
safety. The next character, Sans, is a pun telling skeleton who is always unhappy
for knowing about timelines and how nothing matters since you ll reset the world.
Papyrus, his brother, is cheerful but wants to capture you to achieve a gal that may
never happen. The captain of the Royal Guard, Undyne, is determined but easily
gets angry for the humans trapping her kind underground. A close friend of
Undyne is Doctor Alphys, the royal scientist who is very anxious for the accidents
she has made in the past. She is also the creator of Mettaton, an entertainment robot
who tries to kill you but wants to entertain people too. King Asgore seems like a
happy, caring guy but is a miserable creature because of his wife leaving him and
for his biological child and adopted child dying on the same night. An imperfect
character is important in a game because having many characters who are perfect

Parenting style in countries such as China, Japan, and Korea have different views

styles from two women s point of view Hanna Rosin and Amy Chua.
Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior Amy Chua, a professor at Yale Law School who
wrote a memoir named Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, believes that parenting
style should be strict parenting is the key to successful child rearing. In addition, she
believes that hardened child rearing approach with the methods of close monitoring
and behavioral restrictions. Also, Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior, Chua wrote
that parents should override their children preferences such things as hobbies and
academic performance. Moreover, she thinks the vast majority of the Chinese
mothers said that they believe their children can be the best students and that
academic achievement reflects successful parenting, and that if children did not excel
at school then there was a problem and parents were not doing their job. According to
Chua, through close monitoring and disciplines, children will be able to
The Nuclear Predicament
In recent times, the issue of sustainable energy has resurfaced frequently in politics.
The current popular energy sources used today include gasoline, coal, and other fossil
fuels. These fossil fuels pollute the environment and contribute to various harmful
effects. This energy source has sustained not only America, but also the entire world
population for well over a century and has proven to have a very high energy output.
Despite this output, the supply of fossil fuels is finite and becoming a rapidly
depleted source. This is where various alternate energy sources begin to come into
question. Nuclear energy tends to have a negative connotation amongst many general
populations, however it could be the answer to this economic,... Show more content

Only a mere six years later, one of the largest meltdowns in history occurred at
Chernobyl, because the Soviet Union was so caught up in the ends they were not
focused on the means. Unfortunately, greed and time restraints were directly
responsible for the inefficient and unstable production of nuclear energy at
Chernobyl, Ukraine. Now that these meltdowns have occurred in various areas of the
globe, amongst different populations, and with differentiating causality, experts have
been able to closer pinpoint the sources of the meltdowns. Roland Schenkel, of the
European Commission, proposes that new legally binding safety precautions are put
into action with several international peer reviews in areas concerning design safety,
independence competence and functioning of national regulators, and operational
reactor safety (358). This proposal is one that many governments are coming to
terms with and have no problem following through with. Of course, the field of
nuclear energy is still relatively new compared to most other sources, and by far the
most complex method of obtaining energy. The changes in safety and regulation of
these facilities will not happen overnight, but it seems that precautions are taking a
step in the right direction which leads to a hopeful future for nuclear acceptance.
Nuclear energy can fill in the absence of fossil fuels

When the America was given their independence from the Great Britain, Americans
have created a government that were distinct from the previous governments. The
writers of the Constitution were worried about Tyranny, since The Articles of
Confederation had numerous weaknesses. It gave too much power to the King and
the King had the absolute power, tyranny: a form of government in which the ruler is
an absolute dictator. The meeting that the writers of the Constitutions, delegates,
were called the Constitutional Convention. The Constitutional Convention was held
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May of 1787, at the State House. All proceeding

powerful, each branch has some control over the actions of the other branches. In

that the legislative can override the president s veto (kills a bill). The power over

The U.S benefitted Latin America through the implementation of the Monroe

sovereignty were in the U.S s intentions for involvement in Latin America, while
many European governments saw benefits in overturning independence and thereby
acquiring resources and global power. This paper will use examples of European
colonialismin, Africa, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, to support my claim.

A third incentive of European colonialism was nationalism. Europe wanted to
prove its superiority by colonizing and being in control of as much land as possible.
During the period 1850 to 1871, the nation state achieved its mature status in
Europe. Nationalism clearly became the principal basis for the organization of
western civilization. This fact had earlier been demonstrated in England and in
France during the course of their political revolutions. In this period, it became
manifest throughout Europe. Nationalism is a primary motivating element, which
determined the course of events in France during the regime of Napoleon III, Italy
where unification was achieved, Germany, where unification was achieved, Russia
where important steps towards modernization were taken, and the United States,
which experienced the Civil War, a war to preserve the union. [7] Nationalism is
the equivalent of American Patriotism and in the same way creates a sense of
unification. It appeals to every member of a nation and regardless of race, gender,
social class; it was the promise of benefitting the entire nation. There were also
several incentives for the U.S to get involved in Latin America. The main focus for
the U.S was to keep communism out of the Western Hemisphere. There are several
examples of U.S involvement in Latin America due to the threat of communism. The

they previously did not have access to or at least not as much as they now do given

Step C: Record your observations of your breath with the limewater.
As I blow gently into the limewater with a straw, the limewater turned into opaque
white color.
Conclusion:
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate some physical and chemical
properties of gases and to use these properties to identify these gases when they are
encountered.
I could learn how to identity Hydrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, and hydrogen and
oxygen mixture when they are present through this experiment. Before conducting
this experiment, I should know the combustion chemical reaction first to predict
right results. The most interesting thing was the experiment for gases of hydrogen
and oxygen mixture. Through the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, H2O is
produced. H2O is water as we know. So I just expected that flame would blow out
due to the water vapor. But it was wrong. The flame grew bigger with a pop and a
flash.
To reduce error for this experiment, it was crucial to collect right amounts of gases
from the reaction and handle it quickly for the next step due to properties of gases.

Project Management Methodology For The Uk
Prince 2 is a widely recognised project management methodology in the UK. For
this task you are required to provide an overview of Prince 2, critically evaluate this
methodology and identify the types of project it is best suited to.
It is essential that you appropriately reference your work using APA referencing. In
the absence of appropriate referencing marks cannot be allocated for this task.
What is a project?
A project is a temporary endeavour designed to produce a unique product, service or
result with a defined beginning and end (usually time constrained, and often
constrained by funding or deliverables), undertaken to meet unique goals and
objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value
(Lewis R. Ireland ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who developed it? It was originally developed by the CCTA, which is part of the
Office of Government Commerce, which in part is the UK Government.
The methodology can be described as a process based approach to project
management; which is built up of key elements such as inputs, outputs and objectives
of which are clearly identified through the project
PRINCE2 is considered very effective in its ability for monitoring progress as it
adopts a stage by stage approach, which we will come to expand on in the later parts
of this presentation.
By adopting PRINCE2, the entire project is driven by the requirements of the
business. This means that the project managers are encouraged to include suppliers
and customers to make the process inclusive
So is it just intended for IT projects? No. The original version of PRINCE was
intended for IT, but the scope expanded, and the PRINCE2 methodology is now
intended for all types of projects.

Essay about Code Changes After the Mgm Grand Fire
William Hammond Fire 2 Prevention Report Sam Lanier 24 March 2011 MGM
Grand Fire and Subsequent Code Changes On the Morning of November 21, 1980,
a fire burned that killed 85 people, and ultimately injured more than 700 others.
Typically, it has come to be known that in order for a new law, regulation, and/or
ordinance to be put into place, there has to be a previous event that causes death or
injury, makes the news, or basically anything that stirs the voices of the public. The
1980 MGM Grand Fire was just that. Most people remember a lot of people died in
the fire and that it was the catalyst for Nevada s tough fire codes and retrofit laws
that make the state s resorts among the safest places to stay (Morrison). The 1980 fire

Their reasoning for this was that the average cost of the retrofit was usually no less
that two million dollars in cost. Ultimately, it took another loss of life and injury
causing fire to force these retrofits to take place. While the state of Nevada and the
rest of the world was still caught in the wake of the MGM Grand fire, an arsonist
set fire to the Las Vegas Hilton Casino on February 10, 1981. Eight people perished
and more than 200 were injured. Opposition to the expensive retrofitting
disappeared. At the time of the MGM Grand Fire, it was not required that fire
department personnel had to be part of the building construction plan review
process. The fire department is now largely involved in the construction and plan
review process before a building is built. Also, construction materials used are
more fire resistant. Ventilation systems have also been improved, and are very
helpful in removing the smoke, rather than allowing it to make its way to upper
floors of a high rise structure, which was a large cause of loss of life in the MGM
Grand fire due to smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. Have there
been fires in hotels and casinos since the disastrous MGM Grand Fire in 1980? Of
course there has. The reason why you may not hear about them as much or there isn
t a loss of life is that most fires are confined to a single room and contents fire, and
are extinguished before they
Texas Government
Texas is the second most populous state as well as the second largest state in the
United States of America (Brown, Langenegger, Garcia, Lewis, Biles, 2014). With a
huge number of people currently calling Texas their home, it would make sense to
draw the conclusion that the Texas government must make this state a great place to
live by serving its citizens to the best of its abilities. However, it is best not to make
assumptions and in order to ascertain whether the local governmentactually fulfills
this role we must look at multiple aspects of the government. To assess how well the
government of Texas meets the needs of its citizens we first must look at the
document that delegates power to the state government and outlines the rules... Show

This is an area where public opinion and public policy match in that they both
heavily favor regressive taxation (Brown et al., 2014). Tausanovitch and Warshaw
(2013) have developed a means of understanding political preference in comparison
with public opinion and public policy to determine whether a government is best
serving the desires of its people. This type of tool would be very useful for the
state of Texas to use to determine whether the government is serving the desires of
its constituents. But, just because public opinion and public policy line up doesn t
mean that the interests of citizens are best served because some groups may still be
left out and those groups may have more needs than others. Texas current
operational stance of pay as you go makes for a very tight budget where the
government cannot always afford to spend money on things the citizens of Texas
may need. For instance, Texas operates its roads with the same pay as you go
mentality by opting for toll roads (Brown et al., 2014). Toll roads receive some
government funding through state issued bonds and the collection of tolls after
completion. This system is hardly fair for the citizens who do not use the toll roads
but still must subsidize them through taxpayer dollars when the toll revenue does not
meet the projected earnings. There are also many more citizens in Texas who live
below the poverty line, 18.4% for Texas in comparison to 15.1% for the entire United
States (Brown et al., 2014). With a larger proportion of citizens in poverty the
burden to the state becomes greater, especially when funding remains low (Insert
citation). Texas is just hurting its citizens by not being able to provide as much
support and assistance to them as possible. Texas was given the opportunity, along
with every other state in the union, to expand its offering of Medicaid under the
Affordable Care Act. A sample of public opinion was obtained
Telecommunication Is The Real Face Of The Advances Of...
Telecommunications
Telecommunication is the real face of the advances in Information Technology (IT).
In fact, the overwhelming advances that humankind has seen in the last decades in IT
(internet, telephone, television and radio broadcasting, satellite communication) are
effects of the advance of Telecommunications(normally the word is used in plural
because it encompasses different types of means of transmission). From the electrical
telegraph of Samuel Morse (1837) to the transmission of voice and image over the
Internet (Skype, Hangout etc.), the Telecommunications has developed too much and
affected the world and the human being behavior.
Telecommunications means the transmission of information between two stations.
Basically, a transmitter, a receiver and an electrical mean channel are enough to
complete a telecommunication process. The channel can be a cable, electromagnetic
waves or fiber optics. This system is interconnected in a very large network on which
all communications in the world is done. A simple fixed telephonecall, a cellphone
call, a satellite transmission, an e mail, a download of a music, everything is possible
because of this network.
Even though the main goal of this network is the communication, it can go beyond
this. Actually, this large system supports the international trade, the online education,
the exchanging of messages (e mail, short message), the Internet, the bank
transactions and many other services. Besides, a new kind of

In contrast, the lack of economic growth in the poorest countries of the world has
meant that living conditions for hundreds of millions of people are appalling by

human race has become so much wealthier and why our wealth is shared so

inflation, or in real terms, which are adjusted for inflation. For comparing one
country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita should be used as
these take into account population differences between countries. Economic growths

An increase in an economy s productive potential can be shown by an outward shift
in the economy s production possibility frontier. A country s economic growth is
usually indicated by an increase in that country s gross
U.s. Constitution And The Constitution
The U.S. Constitution, as adopted by the Philadelphia Convention on September 17,
1787, sets out three distinct branches of national government and provides powers to
each that serve as a check on the others. The branches include the executive branch:
the president, the legislative branch: congress and the judicial branch: the Supreme
Court. The Constitution is referred to as a living document because it is open to
constant change. Additionally, the Constitution is open to constant interpretation by
the Supreme Court. When the document was written over 200 years ago, abortion
and automatic weapons were not issues, but the Constitution can be interpreted to
protect or restrict rights on an assortment of issues. Article 5 of the United... Show

The first ten amendments to the Constitution, called the Bill of Rights, were ratified
as a group by December 15, 1791(Bianco, 2013). Within the Bill of Rights only three
amendments stand out in today world. Amendment One states that each citizen has
the right to the freedom of religion, speech, and press and is allowed to assemble
and petition the government (Bianco, 2013). While we all have the right of the
freedom of religion we at the same token have taken religious freedoms a bit too far
at times. We have removed it from schools, yet we allow religious rights to those that
are terrorizing our country. The second amendment states that everyone has the right
to have a gun (for lawful purposes) and the right to form as a militia (Bianco, 2013).
While this amendment is good for law abiding citizens the argument remains for
those that obtain guns illegally or possess weapons that should not be possessed by
an ordinary person. Gun advocates debate that many of the issues with guns in
America are not those of law abiding citizens but of those obtained illegally or in
possession of those that should not have them. Amendment nine states that citizens
hold rights that are not stated in the Constitution, and that those not stated have the
right to be protected (Bianco, 2013). In other means the Bill of Rights state that the
government can t violate every liberty not specifically outlined in the constitution

I also filled the graduated cyliner with 5.0mL of water, and placed the same bolt
under water, and the volume increased to 6.0mL of water, which is a 1.0mL water
displacement equaling the same (1.0mL). It is also significant to tare the scale to
zero when obtaining the weight of certain objects. For instance, I had to tare the
scale after I put a beaker half full of water on the scale; by doing this it keeps the
weight at 0.0g, then I submerge the object to retrieve the volume. Exact
measurements are essential. One must be aware of the upward curve of liquids in
the graduated cylinder, and always measure the low point (bottom) of the meniscus.
It would be of good practice to measure at eye level, thus insuring a more accurate
and precise measurement. In addition, I had to make sure that I used the pipet as

Popular Song
Literature:
During the Vietnam War, so many people were opposed to it they began to write
articles and stories to address their community and fellow Americans. They tried to
express their views on America s involvement in the VietnamWar. Most of the middle
classed youths were destined to be drafted and through these articles and stories they
tried to sway the public opinion. In the early seventies they began to make pamphlets
and magazines, which contained pictures and information about the young men at
war who had lost their lives in the conflict. These radical youths were most definitely

Back in the time of the war televisions became an everyday object in the average
household. There were very few channels but on these channels was the news. This
newsreel had a very important role to play in the shift of opinion from the public s
perspective, although it did not intentionally do so. Because the television was
relatively new there was no such thing as censorship, so when footage of a peaceful
antiwar demonstration turned into disaster people were horrified. This demonstration
was at Kent State University, were young flower power students were protesting
against Americas efforts in the War but when the students resisted and stood up for
what they believed in a small number of them were shot dead on the spot by the
national guard. Many people thought that these demonstrations were unpatriotic and
that there was no place for it in America but after these deaths antiwar protests were
seen in a whole new light.
Then came the shocking images of Vietnam itself. Clips and videos of everything
that was happening in the battlefield was being broadcast all around the world to

Technological Advancements of World War !
Advancements in technology and science contributed to one the most gory and
bloodiest war in the annals of human existence. These new technological
advancements revolutionized how people regarded war. War was no longer where
the opposite forces fought in a coordinated battle. War evolved into game of
cunning strategy where the side with the bigger, powerful, and smarter toys played
better. This led to a fierce competition where each side tried to create the smarter
machines and better weapons, leading to deadly mass killing weapons in the process.
One weapon or machine was created and an even better one was made. New

was the most feared, the barbed wire and the machine gun was the most deadly.
Barbed wire, a simple yet destructive weapon was made in DeKalb, Illinois by a
Joseph Glidden who originally planned to keep control of his flocks. A seemingly
harmless item used for fencing in America, it was the devil s tool on the battlefield.
Miles of barbed wire were strung along the trenches. Then as the unsuspecting
soldiers charged across the shell cratered hell of No Man s Land, they would become
tangled in the wire, easy pickings for the machine gunners in the opposing trench
(Shmoop Editorial). Trying to eliminate the wires, opposing forces used enormous
amounts of artillery fire to cut the wires, an attempt at which they failed miserably at.
Even though there were several different designs of machine guns, Hiram Maxim was
the man that originally invented the machine gun. Before the machine gun were
invented, there was the hand cranked Gatling gun that which was capable of mass
quick firing. However, these guns easily jammed due to overheating and constantly
needed reloading, exposing the person reloading to danger. These new and improved

(Belhaven, 2015). In other terms, leaders prepare and make sure that their followers
are ready to take on the tasks that they are to be presented with. The model has strong
purposes currently in fields such as athletic coaching and in the military. Coaches
work to prepare their athletes for competition by practicing and repeating techniques.
They also scout their opponents and then use the information found while scouting to
help prepare their their team for the upcoming opponent. In the military, numerous
tasks and tests are presented to members to make sure they are prepared for the
dealings they will have when they are on their own and in battle.
This leadership model has strong ties to the greatest leader of all, Jesus Christ.
Christ used this type of modeling when he prepared his apostles for their ministry
work in Matthew. Christ began by laying out the the mission, gave them authority
over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to cure every disease and every sickness.
(Matthew 10:15, New Revised Standard Version). He gave them that authority in
order to prepare them for the unclean cities and people they were to encounter. As
He continue to address these 12, Christ explained to them they were to proclaim the
good news, The kingdom of heaven has come near. (Matt. 10:7, NRSV). By
addressing the people of the cities to this news, the apostles would also use a form of

Gene Therapy for Cancer Essay
Cancer occurrs by the production of multiple mutations in a single cell that causes it
to proliferate out of control. Cancer cells often different from their normal neighbors
by a host of specific phenotypic changes, such as rapid division rate, invasion of new
cellular territories, high metabolic rate, and altered shape. Some of those mutations
may be transmitted from the parents through the germ line. Others arise de novo in
the somatic cell lineage of a particular cell. Cancer promoting mutations can be
identified in a variety of ways. They can be cloned and studied to learn how they can
be controlled.

It may be possible to correct an abnormality in a tumor suppressor gene such as P53
by inserting a copy of the wild type gene; in fact, insertion of the wild type P53
gene into P53 deficient tumor cells has been shown to result in the death of tumor
cells (3). This has significant implications, since P53 alterations are the most
common genetic abnormalities in human cancers. The over expression of an
oncogene such as K RAS can be blocked at the genetic level by integration of an
antisense gene whose transcript binds specifically to the oncogene RNA, disabling
its capacity to produce protein. Experiments in vitro and in vivo have demonstrated
that when an antisense K RAS vector is integrated into lung cancer cells that over
express K RAS their tumorigenicity is decreased (4).
Despite the promise of such approaches, a number of difficulties remain to be
overcome, the most important of which is the need for more efficient systems of
gene delivery. No gene transfer system is 100% efficient, unless germ line therapyis
contemplated. During the past two decades, there have been major advances in our
understanding of how cancer develops, proving that cancer has a genetic basis (2). A
series of genetic abnormalities that accumulate in one cell may result in a pattern of
abnormal clonal proliferation. Our growing understanding of the genetic basis of
cancer offers new opportunities for the molecular prevention and treatment of cancer.

Information Security And Network Security
In information security, computer security and network security an Asset is any data,
device, or other component of the environment that supports information related
activities. Assets generally include hardware (servers and switches), software (e.g.
mission critical applications and support systems) and confidential information.
Assets should be protected from illicit access, use, disclosure, alteration, destruction,
and/or theft, resulting in loss to the organization. Securityassets are quite helpful for
large or small companies and have many different ways of protecting one s
information.
It is quite common to find many individuals involved in compromising a company s
intellectual property. Suspects would most likely be a current/former employee,
trusted customers, or competitors. Therefore security assets are major in protecting
and securing a company s information. The first step to securing intellectual Property
is management structure. This will guarantee that your Intellectual Property will run
with a few protection measures implemented. The second step is Operational
Security. This will enable a background check on vendors and third parties. Also,
this will go over existing hiring and departure policies for employees. The third and
final step to securing intellectual property is Cyber security. This will put a stop to
network intrusion, safeguard mobile device security, and remote access security.
Protecting a company s intellectual property is very important.
Francisco Goya Essay
Francisco Goya s The Third of May1808: Principles of Art Design
Great insights went into the intricate composition of Francisco Goya s painting The
Third of May 1808, his painting utilizes the principles of art and design which
displays all six principles: unity and variety; emphasis; balance; rhythm and
movement; perspective; and proportion and scale. All six principles could also be
identified and critically analyzed within his painting The Third of May 1808 which
ultimately resulted in a whole cohesive composition.
Goya s use of the principle of art design, unity is evident as the shapes and sizes he
painted in The Third of May 1808 are easily recognizable when looking at the
prisoners and soldiers, the viewer can notice that all the human bodies represent mass
equally in the painting. Unity is defined as a method of organizing artwork to bring
all the parts together to make one integrated whole by repeating elements in it.
Furthermore he adds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emphasis is exemplified by Goya when he painted a horizontal line to represent death.
Convergence is when many elements point to one thing, again this is exemplified
when he painted the riffles horizontally pointing at one of the prisoners brightly
painted in yellow. Moreover it focuses the attention of the viewer to that one prisoner
painted brighter than the others and is easily notice when the painting is first viewed.
Goya integrates the design principle balance in The Third of May 1808 when he
utilizes informal balance and is evident when he painted the soldiers and building on
the right of the painting and prisoners and hill on the left side of the painting which
created a balanced visual weighted artwork Informal Balance is defined as the
elements of art and design used to create the same comfortable feeling as with formal
balance, but in a much more subtle way, using unlike objects that have equal visual

The colors are demonstrated in such a way that symbolize the double personality

Analysis Of The Poem A Key Of Salonika By Jorge Luis...
It Seems That All Keys Are Keys
A key possesses as many definitions as the number of cuts it has. A Key in Salonika
is a sonnet composed by Jorge Luis Borges that presents the reader with three keys.
All serve to symbolize the reaction of the Jewish community to three different events.
Even though the speaker writes a series of stanzas adorned by literary devices and
words, the reader must keep in mind the degree to which the speaker is feeding to us
an effective representation of these historical events. Although the details and
language of Borges sonnet reveal that there is an ongoing tension within the Jewish
community about how to respond to the hatred of their existence, it does not

Just as the first historical event presented by the poem, the second one depicts the
misery that the Jews underwent in an earlier era. The speaker writes Like the other
temple key (line 11) . Upon reading this line, it brings to mind two important
temples that were turned to dust. The first of which was named Solomon s Temple
and destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar I. The second temple was destroyed by the
Roman army under Titus. The speaker clears up this ambiguity by writing, when
Roman soldiers bent / And charged with dreadful flames and discipline (line 12
13) . This points to the Roman retaliation against the Jews when they rebelled in
year 66 AD. The Romans fought in two ways. The first was with dreadful flames .
The Romans did not simply set the temple ablaze, they captured thousands of people,
regardless of age, class, and gender, and slaughtered them for amusement. The
second manner was with discipline . The other half of Jews that were not killed were
tormented and forced to work in the Egyptian mines ( The Romans Destroy... ).
The second key suggests that the Jews have accepted and forgiven the Romans for
destruction of the second temple. When the speaker discusses the first key, there is
an overwhelming amount of mixed emotions that accompany the event related to it.
This is evident with the use of words such as hope , terror , calm , and so on.

In Figure 2 it is evident that Indonesia s cost of living, as reflected by the CPI, has
been significantly deteriorating over the last 8 years. Although research argues
that CPI may not be an effective indicator of the cost of living for a developing
country such as Indonesia (East Asia, 2015). In contrast measuring the percentage
of a household budget that goes to food is could be a good indicator. Since 2000,
the percentage of household budget spent on food has declined, meaning higher
expenditure on discretionary goods and services. This indicates that Indonesia s
urban regions are getting richer faster than the impression expressed with the CPI
(East Asia, 2015). This is also reflected in figure 1, as the significant increase of
mobile phone subscriptions is a good proxy of increased living standards as a
mobile phone is a discretionary living cost. This is a result of the Indonesian growth

Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin Essay
Sonny s Blues is a narration about two siblings brothers who choose very different
routes in life in order to accomplish the zenith of individualism, expressionism and
recognition. In doing so, they take a glimpse into one another s spheres and learn to
assent and appreciate each other for who they are. In 1951, Baldwin wrote Sonny s
Blues, a story of the ills that Harlem provided its youth. In Baldwin s telling of the
narration, it forms a nous of liberation, an atmosphere of therapeutic acceptance for
the author, in which Baldwin develops to express his own state through his virtuoso
of storytelling. To put it inanely, Baldwin has such a fine grasp of the linguistic and
such great urge to interpret that he can move even his stoutest detractors to emotion

Walter Dean Myers (2014), a famous New York Times journalist wrote that ...I read a

Use cleaning products that are specifically formulated for alligator leather. The wrong

To be added under ADVANTAGE OF CAIMAN SKIN heading:
As we have mentioned earlier, caiman leather is relatively cheaper compared to
crocodile and alligator leather. This does not mean that caiman skin is of inferior
quality, though. Part of the reason caiman leather is more affordable is that caimans
are not as hard to find. There are farms where caimans are grown specifically for their
skin.
The fact that caiman leather is not as soft or pliable as crocodile and alligator
leather does not make caiman skin low quality. In fact, its rigid body is highly ideal
for boots, handbags, and other items that need to hold their shape.
Also, although caiman leather has smaller tiles, it does have deeper ridges that give
it more character and personality. The Hornback, for instance, is favored by some
manufacturers and designers because of their distinctive scales, which add to the
final product s appeal.
Finally, caiman leather has a rich history behind it. Back in the 30 s and the 40 s, it
became a popular raw material for women s handbags, briefcases, and small
Persuasive Speech On Prayer In School
Prayer in school should have been a big part for those who believe in it, but why
take it out of the schools when the majority of students take religion seriously?
Well, I m going to tell you how is happened and when and by who started this
controversy. So is this considered a joking or serious m matter? What do you
think, is prayer and religion going to be handled as a joke or serious matters in
schools? What is prayer? Prayer is the act of oneself who believe in Christianity or
any type of religion. It is the act of talking or sending your thoughts and worries
and asking for support through ones god. It s like talking to a friend but receiving
answers through ones faith or belief for anyone s issues they might upon their
heart. So would this be considered a joking a matter? Honestly if you were a cold
hearted closed off to the world type of person then you probably wouldn t take
someone s beliefs serious, other people however do. Prayer has always been a
controversial topic from the people who study Scientology from the people who
have a really deep faith in the word of the lord and how the earth was created and
how we all came about. Well that idea and the meaning of prayer soon changed all
because of one atheist woman who believed prayer was corrupting children and
changed prayer in school and its involvement in the curriculum forever. Well here
is the hand that holds the answers! Let s ask ourselves though, how well will prayer
and religion be handled in schools? Before we answer that question, if you are a firm
believer of God the man who created all humanity and all thing let us try to
understand who he is or what he is. So who is God? While most people would like a
straight forward answer of who god is, no one has yet to answer this question, it is
strictly based on one s belief and how they perceive the image of their lord and savior.
No one can explain what he looks like or even when he was born or when he died.
Most Christians and other of other religions all believe he died on a cross, but there
are many perceptions of who he is and how he died and was born. If you do believe
in the lord and savior then you ultimately understand he is who holds all the answers.
Let s ask ourselves how is prayer

April of 1963, as he sat, as the title states, in a Birmingham, Alabama jail. King had
been jailed for his participation in a peaceful protest of segregation in public

King read a criticism of the protest by a group of white ministers, who felt such
demonstrations directed and in part led by outsiders were unwise and untimely ,
suggesting that blacks should wait for the court system to work. (Statement by
Alabama clergymen, 1963). Dr. King s letter was written as a response to the

Colors can be interpreted differently in a variety of genres. The colors green and
gold in Oz the Great and Powerful and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, suggest
the mystery, wealth, and greed in each story. Oscar and Charlie journey through
magical worlds in order to acquire knowledge about the true meaning of values and
ethics in life and where they can be found, a lesson that continues to speak today.
The archetypal mystery in a quest must have a defined set of events in a narrative.
This standard quest involves the departure, which involves the character to have a
certain goal set in mind to accomplish, it also involves a return which is bringing
back what they found and accomplished once they have fulfilled their journey. In

Although before he was successful Oz was tempted to flee, but he realized that it
was his one and only duty to save the magical kingdom of Oz and he must use his
creativity to trick and do his superior motive of misleading people in order to
defeat the witches. He sneaks into a room full of the royal s treasure and pretend
to escape with all the gold, causing one of the witches to throw a fireball to sink the
balloon leading everyone to think that Oz is dead, but he ends up tricking them
again using a machine to make his face appear big in smoke and the witches can t
use their powers to defeat him and he releases fireworks that terrify the witches
resulting in them fleeing. Oz is now the ruler of Oz and is beloved by the people,
he is no longer working only for power and wealth because he learned that there are
better and more important things in life that should be taken care of and he offers
friendship and is willing to work with the
Upgrading Data Communication At The Classroom
Upgrading data communication in the classroom would be an appropriate
technological advantage because research indicates that broadband and cloud
computing are transforming education. The outdated teaching tools that we grew up
with (i.e. chalkboards and hardback books) are now being replaced with interactive
digital content delivered through high speed broadband using blackboard and e
books. This means elementary school students can explore the surface of the sun
through high definition video as they learn about the solar system. Furthermore,
middle schoolchildren can experience history lessons through interactive videos and
high schoolstudents can discover geometry through gaming (Robyler, M. D. Edwards,
J., 2000, p. 79). Consequently, accessing broadband for digital learning is a necessity
for students to have a chance to compete in todays technological society. From a
pedagogical standpoint, updating communications in the classroom creates an
environment of enrichment and engages students actively in the learning process.
Upgrading the data communications in the classroom from a programmatic
perspective enables students and teachers to quickly access the database, monitor
seismographic data, and establish electronic pen pals in Latin America (Picciano,
2011, p. 110).

The Controversies Of Owning A Pet
I am sick with an unknown illness, and just like you would when you have the flu, I
have good days and bad days. I also have a dog named Zeke, who lays with on me
during fever days. I ve grown up around pets my entire life, so therefore, I may be
slightly bias when I say: I strongly believe, with all my being, that owning a pet
teaches you, and shows you, Loyalty, Responsibility, and to Care for someone
something other than yourself. Owning a pet helps you learn some of the necessary
goals, attitudes, and benefits of life. First up is loyalty. My illness has many
symptoms, but the main ones are these: Abdominal pain, inability to breathe or pain
while breathing, and lightheadedness or headaches. When the pain in my chest gets
so bad, in the
What Happens If You Expose Individuals To Web Pages
Essay
What happens if you expose individuals to web pages for short periods of time?
First impressions of web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been
shown as powerful in a variety of contexts which include studying personal
character attributes. There has been multiple research and experiments where
individuals were exposed to web pages for 50 milliseconds and how individuals
formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of Lindgaard et al 2006 this
study is where the participants were exposed to a website twice when viewing the
website for only 50 milliseconds. The study showed that individuals can form a
reliable first impression whilst only viewing the website for 50 milliseconds. Within
the second study conducted by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the research showed us that the relationship between visual
appealing ratings fell below par for twenty two participants for the first and second
phase. There was a high correlation between visual appeal and other characteristics
such as the participants noted the web pages were boring, good design, bad
design, bad colour etc... However, there was a rather low correlation amongst
visual appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst attractiveness
and clear confusing judgements. By only viewing web pages for 50 milliseconds
individuals can form a first impression. The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes
of web page design and how design affects attractiveness is vital for HCI designers
which will enable them to implement and produce a suitable system for users which
meets their requirements. It is imperative that the HCI designer takes into
consideration the necessary factors related to attractiveness and unattractiveness of
websites. It is imperative that the design of the website must include technical and
low level aspects making sure that it interacts with each other. There has been
research relating to design concepts. The work of Kim et el., 2003; Park et al., 2004
where they found out that design features that relate to websites objects, backgrounds

Company C fits the first set of description, and Company D fits the second set of
description. Company D has higher current ratio and quick ratio, which is higher
2.43x and 2.3x respectively. This was because Company D had higher cash and short
term investment, which was 55.6% while Company C, only has 1.4%. It proves that
Company D is financially conservative and it matches with the second described
company.
Beside that, Company D keep more stock which is 11.9% compare with Company
C 4.3% because their company produces seasonal and year round beers with smaller
production volume and their beers demand is not whole year long. Hence slower
sales in Company D will have lower inventory turnover with higher inventory.
There was no dividend payout for Company D whereas the Company C they have
high dividend payout ratio due to stable product sales which not affected by the
seasonal event. The goodwill for Company C is higher than Company D of about
6.1%, this may be due to the Company C is a national brewer of mass market
consumer beers sold under a variety of brand names, so the Company C can match
with the first described company.

Civic Engagement Project
I had the pleasure to volunteer with Adopt a Rescue Pet with the most wonderful
and passionate people for my civic engagement project. I also had the opportunity to
work with the founder of the organization Elizabeth Davis Rubin. Not only did I
had the chance to work with Elizabeth, but she also gave me the opportunity to
come to her office to talk to her about the organization. I learn many things from this
project, I got to see the behind the scenes of an organization and all the challenges
they come across. On this small journey I also learn about the opportunities some
employers give to their employees. After a casual conversation with my manager to
request a Saturday off to be able to volunteer, he mentions The Suited for Service

The number one priority for the organization is to remove the pets from the kill

State Sponsored Terrorism Analysis
Terrorism is the systematic use of violence by a group of people in order to
intimidate a population or coerce a government into granting its demands. There are
different types of terrorism like, State, Foreign, and Domestic. State terrorism is the
systematic use of terror by a government in order to control its population.
Additionally, there is religious terrorismwhich is terrorism that is motivated by
religious ideologies. Foreign terrorism is committed outside the US, while Domestic
is committed inside the US. The Palestinian Liberation Organization is the first
terrorist organization in the middle east (PLO). The organization was led by Yassir
Arafat until his death in 2004. Created in 1964, the main goal of the organization was
the liberation of Palestine. Additionally, the Palestinian fight against Israel has been
coordinated by the PLO. Israel has permitted the organization a limited form of
government in much of the West Bank and Gaza, called the Palestinian Authority.
Most Palestinians are not satisfied with either the territory or the power granted to
them by Israel. They want to continue fighting for control of the entire territory

Critique Of The Nutcracker
On November 25, 2017 I attended The Nutcracker ballet performance at the
Eisemann Center. The dance was adapted from a story by E.T.A Hoffman with the
music by Tchaikovsky. The show was a faithful adaptation of The Nutcracker with the
dancers, costumes, sets, and Tchaikovsky s music all playing an integral part in
depicting the story in an entertaining way. Overall, the presentation was successful in
portraying the holiday classic that is The Nutcracker, and the majestic sets and
costumes along with the music allowed for sustained attention and spectacle that was
still true to the narrative of The Nutcracker. The production did this by having grand,
bright costumes and sets that resembled the time period of The Nutcracker and
depicted the setting of the dances, the original music by Tchaikovsky which was able
to produce the emotions that come with the story, and lighting techniques that
showed the weather and time of day which helped show what scenes were being told
throughout the performance. While observing this dance ballet, there were many
things that caught my attention. First, the theater itself was extremely large, and the
stage itself was big, and the dancers had plenty of room to move across the stage
and perform their routines. There were many dancers, and they all played various
roles that ranged from Clara, Fritz, Herr Drosselmeyer, the Rat King, the Nutcracker,
the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, and many more. All of the performers wore
vivid costumes

What A Woman Is Not Born, By Simone De Beauvoir Essay
One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. French existentialist writer, Simone
de Beauvoir, states in The Second Sex (1949), powerful analysis of what a woman
should be in the West. She goes into detail on how femininity is a social construct
and was constructed for the male gaze, the patriarchy (Nigel Warburton, 2014). This
is an argument in both Sandra Lee Bartky s Foucault, Femininity, and the
Modernization of Patriarchal Power, according to her, you are born into your gender,
not the characteristics of it (2010, 27). And in Rosalind Gill s Supersexualize Me!:
Advertising and the Midriffs , she discusses how advertisements are a major factor
in shaping our views on what is masculine and feminine (2007, 95). In this essay, I
will compare each chapters arguments, this includes power and femininity and who
is to blame for disciplining women s bodies to fit a narrow spectrum of femininity;
and the similarities of the arguments when discussing how femininity is being
shown in the size, movement and appearance of a women s body and how they
both reject societal meanings of femininity. As for the first difference, power and
femininity are shown in very different lights. Gill argues that women in our
modern media portray a form of sexual power , which is an active subject for the
male gaze (2007, 100). She discusses the shift of society s definition of femininity
from child like passive individuals to an active sexual subject for the male gaze. And
when portrayed as
The Tricky Goblin And The Green Goo
CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR
The Tricky Goblin and the Green Goo
I must have lost my footing somehow during my slip through the mirror because I
fall out of it and crashed with a with a painful thud on my bedroom floor. I looked
up. My room was dark, but a door was ajar in the kitchen, and light from a fixture
stretched across the hallway. I untangled my feet and rose. Then silently crept into
the living room, hid behind the sofa, and peeked over the top. Gordok sitting at the
table eating some kind of green gunk and giggling with a group of witches. I stood
up and the look in his eyes made my blood run cold! You u u ... he hissed his face
even brighter green then the goo. One of the witches picked up a glop off the plate
and threw it at me. It landed on my forehead and dripped off my nose and onto my
chin. Eww ... what is this disgusting stuff? I asked wiping it off with the back of
my sleeve. The goblin bared his fangs and his beady eyes began to glow. Shut up and
hand it over boy! I suppose you want this? I said daggling the key out in front of me.
The witches scramble to their feet. I ran down the hall and into my room,
slamming the door and locking it behind me. Gordok started to pound on the door.
The jig is up boy. Just give us what we want and I ll let your Parent s go. Why am I
running I thought as I pulled the wand out from beneath my vest. How do I know
that you re not just say that, I shouted back. Have I ever lied to you? he laughed and

A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager
In the gambling world bets are made based on odds, the probability or likelihood
that something would happen. In the court of law, cases are decided upon by the
weight of evidence presented by the respective parties. The common link between
these general scenarios is that decisions are made based on some outside evidential
factor. The more probable something is likely to happen, or the more evidence
presented in favor or opposed to something, the greater the tendency that a decision
will coincide with that probability or evidence. This kind of logic has also been used
when arguing about the existence of God. It has been argued that God s existence is
necessary based on the logic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pascal starts off his essay by stating that, If there is a God, He is infinitely
incomprehensible...He has no affinity to us. (Pascal, 78) This already poses a
problem with the argument he is about to present in support of believing that God
exists. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is
incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being
a actually exists? It would obviously follow that we would never come to a full
understanding of this god, and any efforts to believe in or worship him would be
in vain. Are we just to believe that this god exists and that s all, or is there a code of
conduct that is to follow this belief? How do you act in a manner that is pleasing
to being that you do not and never will wholly understand? Pascal goes on to state
that once we have made this rational decision to believe in God then we start to act
like we believe in this god and from practicing these actions habitually your belief
will strengthen Pascal, 78). The problem here lies in the basis of the strength for
this belief. To make a decision and then act on that decision seems pretty consistent;
but, to make a decision and have that decision become a belief based on habitual
actions does not follow at all. Is this belief that your holding to a product of sincerity
of habit? If you start to act you
Essay On Judeo-Christian Worldviews
Man will either be governed by the Bible or the bayonet, John Adams once said.
The world is classified into many different worldviews, but two opposing
worldviews are: Judeo Christian and Humanism. From Matthew 28: 18 19, we see
that Judeo Christian is a worldview based on Biblical Truth, which Jesus Christ is
the Creator of all, and that stewardship is our duty. The proponents of this
worldview think that man is corrupt. On the other hand, Humanists believe that
man is perfectible. Man is not born with a sinful nature and could choose to be
good. Man has chosen which way he wants to be governed. They have elected
which path he will take; either the Bible or themselves. The Judeo Christian
worldview of economics or power believes what is taught in the Bible. In the
Bible, God reveals that man was born sinful, does not do well by injustice, should
work, shouldn t depend on other people, and respect other people s private
property, through diligence they prosper, not become envious by other people s
property, man is created equal even if they are rich or poor, debt creates bondage,
and being righteous can help your life. They believe that God is the directed
government and that He is the internal force. If they need to come to a decision,...

Through Christ, internal liberty is restored. So external liberty is possible for all.
The state is instituted by God to protect man, which is why God gave us a
government, so we can be protected. Being protected means that we can provide
peace for man s progress. On the other hand, Humanism believes in cruelty. They
have slavery, taxes, and brutality to inferiors. That is no sympathy to the poor and
suffering. While Judeo Christians believe that all men are created equal, Humanists
believes that there is a class system. In this class system, only the upper classes enjoy
the measure of freedom that the government gave them. Making this external

  • 2. Half Life Research Paper Half Life, everybody loves Half Life right? One of the most successful games in history, it s been given countless awards in the time since it s release. With people to this day still developing Half Life mods you d expect them to have built upon the original to try to improve its quality. Some, like Black Mesa have, others, like Sven Co op have most certainly not. Now don t get me wrong, it has nothing bad about it in principle, the idea was to add multiplayer missions to Half Life and allow players to combine their strength against bots. On paper the idea of multiplayer Half Life sounds amazing, however all things come at a cost, and this mod paid that cost dearly. In terms of its original function Sven co op serves its purpose fine, with players all on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found the AI had much higher numbers than the players on every server, reaching upwards of 300 enemies in 10 minutes on some. The servers actually had at most 32 or so players but that many can cause a lot of damage. So much havoc was caused in fact, that the players could lag the server to a halt. Unfortunately for the game this took very little to manage, because when such a large group of people are all causing explosions and banging on walls, or all trying to fit down one passageway while trying to hit each other with crowbars. So the servers lag out too easily, of course, I imagine a lot of games would have this problem if the players could run amok too. However part of the blame for this rests with Half Life, its engine wasn t built to support 32 living players working together and heavy instances of AI beside them. There were other errors and problems that aren t the fault of Valve, like the fact that there was no way to mute players spamming the voice and text chat (and boy did they), or that the guns either did virtually no damage to enemies or would one shot them every

As my reserved personality highlights, I ve never been one to take extraordinary risks or be bold when something isn t quite right. But during this first year of my collegeexperience, being bold is becoming more substantial to my success. Louisiana Tech Universityinitially appeared to be satisfactory in suiting my wants in a higher education. Considerately, scholarships were offered, as well as the opportunity to explore a region of which I was unfamiliar with. LA Tech also had a specific Graphic Design major program, of which caught most of my attention. The excitement to take on the differences that come with attending a university out of state was inviting. The school itself isn t inadequate in offering these challenges, but as someone who came from a beginning of competition, I felt out of place, and that I had more potential to discover and to explore. I never wanted an easy degree; I have the ambition to struggle and to be pushed forward in new directions to find the best of myself, especially in the career field I

George Washington Military Life Essay The Military Life of George Washington George Washington, a man of many military achievements, brought ragtag farmers to military men, and destroyed the most powerful army in the world. Washington was appointed the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775. Washington, who had military experience before serving in the Continental Army, had never commanded an army of this size. He was appointed leader of the Continental Army because John Hancock, president of the Second Continental Congress, thought of him as a man of great character who would help unite the colonies. Training the farmers was a hard task for George Washington since there is only one of him and thousands of other farmers who did not know what to do. Also, the colonies had a poor track record of working together effectively. During the Battle of Saratoga, Ben Franklin created a military alliance with the French. The French in return sent Marquis de Lafayette, a high ranking general in the French military, to meet with George Washington. Lafayette was sent over to give the farmers supplies, and to help train to become true military men. Training the farmers took a lot of hard work to get them prepared for the war they were entering. An example of farmers being turned into fighters to defeat the British Army occurred during the winter of Valley Forge. The farmers were forced to overcome adversity such as disease, starvation, and lack of warmth. They needed motivation which George Washington gave them. Washington encouraged them that they have what it takes to defeat the greatest army in the world. The only thing that Washington could not help with was the pain. Mind over matter. A positive attitude can accomplish anything. Washington could not stress that enough. Another way that the farmers became military men was their fight at the Battle of Bunker Hill. They did significant damage to the British. giving them self confidence and knowledge that

May 21st 1969 Shirley Chisholm delivered a speech in front of the house of representatives where she points out all the wrongs that are being done to women in the job force. Mrs. Shirley Chisholm starts her speech with a very strong point in my opinion by saying that when a young women graduates from college and goes off to look for work the the thing that she will be asked is if she can type. Now that question is obviously disrespectful to a young lady who just put in a lot of work to graduate college to just be a receptionist without a proper interview. Women are not allowed to hold higher positions in the workplace they Chisholm say that The unspoken assumption is that women are different. • 9. The Nuclear Predicament In recent times, the issue of sustainable energy has resurfaced frequently in politics. The current popular energy sources used today include gasoline, coal, and other fossil fuels. These fossil fuels pollute the environment and contribute to various harmful effects. This energy source has sustained not only America, but also the entire world population for well over a century and has proven to have a very high energy output. Despite this output, the supply of fossil fuels is finite and becoming a rapidly depleted source. This is where various alternate energy sources begin to come into question. Only a mere six years later, one of the largest meltdowns in history occurred at Chernobyl, because the Soviet Union was so caught up in the ends they were not focused on the means. Unfortunately, greed and time restraints were directly responsible for the inefficient and unstable production of nuclear energy at Chernobyl, Ukraine. Now that these meltdowns have occurred in various areas of the globe, amongst different populations, and with differentiating causality, experts have been able to closer pinpoint the sources of the meltdowns. Roland Schenkel, of the European Commission, proposes that new legally binding safety precautions are put into action with several international peer reviews in areas concerning design safety, independence competence and functioning of national regulators, and operational reactor safety (358). This proposal is one that many governments are coming to terms with and have no problem following through with. Of course, the field of nuclear energy is still relatively new compared to most other sources, and by far the most complex method of obtaining energy. The changes in safety and regulation of these facilities will not happen overnight, but it seems that precautions are taking a step in the right direction which leads to a hopeful future for nuclear acceptance. Nuclear energy can fill in the absence of fossil fuels

This fact had earlier been demonstrated in England and in France during the course of their political revolutions. In this period, it became manifest throughout Europe. Nationalism is a primary motivating element, which determined the course of events in France during the regime of Napoleon III, Italy where unification was achieved, Germany, where unification was achieved, Russia where important steps towards modernization were taken, and the United States, which experienced the Civil War, a war to preserve the union. Typically, it has come to be known that in order for a new law, regulation, and/or ordinance to be put into place, there has to be a previous event that causes death or injury, makes the news, or basically anything that stirs the voices of the public. The 1980 MGM Grand Fire was just that. Eight people perished and more than 200 were injured. Opposition to the expensive retrofitting disappeared. The fire department is now largely involved in the construction and plan review process before a building is built. Also, construction materials used are more fire resistant. Ventilation systems have also been improved, and are very helpful in removing the smoke, rather than allowing it to make its way to upper floors of a high rise structure, which was a large cause of loss of life in the MGM Grand fire due to smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. Have there been fires in hotels and casinos since the disastrous MGM Grand Fire in 1980? Of course there has. The reason why you may not hear about them as much or there isn t a loss of life is that most fires are confined to a single room and contents fire, and are extinguished before they

With a huge number of people currently calling Texas their home, it would make sense to draw the conclusion that the Texas government must make this state a great place to live by serving its citizens to the best of its abilities. However, it is best not to make assumptions and in order to ascertain whether the local governmentactually fulfills this role we must look at multiple aspects of the government. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an area where public opinion and public policy match in that they both heavily favor regressive taxation (Brown et al., 2014). Tausanovitch and Warshaw (2013) have developed a means of understanding political preference in comparison with public opinion and public policy to determine whether a government is best serving the desires of its people. This type of tool would be very useful for the state of Texas to use to determine whether the government is serving the desires of its constituents. But, just because public opinion and public policy line up doesn t mean that the interests of citizens are best served because some groups may still be left out and those groups may have more needs than others. Texas current operational stance of pay as you go makes for a very tight budget where the government cannot always afford to spend money on things the citizens of Texas may need. For instance, Texas operates its roads with the same pay as you go mentality by opting for toll roads (Brown et al., 2014). Toll roads receive some government funding through state issued bonds and the collection of tolls after completion. This system is hardly fair for the citizens who do not use the toll roads but still must subsidize them through taxpayer dollars when the toll revenue does not meet the projected earnings. There are also many more citizens in Texas who live below the poverty line, 18.4% for Texas in comparison to 15.1% for the entire United States (Brown et al., 2014). With a larger proportion of citizens in poverty the burden to the state becomes greater, especially when funding remains low (Insert citation). Texas is just hurting its citizens by not being able to provide as much support and assistance to them as possible. Texas was given the opportunity, along with every other state in the union, to expand its offering of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. A sample of public opinion was obtained

Telecommunications means the transmission of information between two stations. Basically, a transmitter, a receiver and an electrical mean channel are enough to complete a telecommunication process. The channel can be a cable, electromagnetic waves or fiber optics. This system is interconnected in a very large network on which all communications in the world is done. A simple fixed telephonecall, a cellphone call, a satellite transmission, an e mail, a download of a music, everything is possible because of this network. Even though the main goal of this network is the communication, it can go beyond this. Actually, this large system supports the international trade, the online education, the exchanging of messages (e mail, short message), the Internet, the bank transactions and many other services. Besides, a new kind of

What is Economic Growth? An increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to another. Economic growth can be measured in nominal terms, which include inflation, or in real terms, which are adjusted for inflation. For comparing one country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita should be used as these take into account population differences between countries. Economic growths is an increase in what an economy can produce if it is using all its scarce resources. An increase in an economy s productive potential can be shown by an outward shift in the economy s production possibility frontier. A country s economic growth is usually indicated by an increase in that country s gross

Within the Bill of Rights only three amendments stand out in today world. Amendment One states that each citizen has the right to the freedom of religion, speech, and press and is allowed to assemble and petition the government (Bianco, 2013). While we all have the right of the freedom of religion we at the same token have taken religious freedoms a bit too far at times. We have removed it from schools, yet we allow religious rights to those that are terrorizing our country. The second amendment states that everyone has the right to have a gun (for lawful purposes) and the right to form as a militia (Bianco, 2013). While this amendment is good for law abiding citizens the argument remains for those that obtain guns illegally or possess weapons that should not be possessed by an ordinary person. Gun advocates debate that many of the issues with guns in America are not those of law abiding citizens but of those obtained illegally or in possession of those that should not have them. Amendment nine states that citizens hold rights that are not stated in the Constitution, and that those not stated have the right to be protected (Bianco, 2013). They also scout their opponents and then use the information found while scouting to help prepare their their team for the upcoming opponent. In the military, numerous tasks and tests are presented to members to make sure they are prepared for the dealings they will have when they are on their own and in battle. Some of those mutations may be transmitted from the parents through the germ line. Others arise de novo in the somatic cell lineage of a particular cell. It may be possible to correct an abnormality in a tumor suppressor gene such as P53 by inserting a copy of the wild type gene; in fact, insertion of the wild type P53 gene into P53 deficient tumor cells has been shown to result in the death of tumor cells (3). This has significant implications, since P53 alterations are the most common genetic abnormalities in human cancers. The over expression of an oncogene such as K RAS can be blocked at the genetic level by integration of an antisense gene whose transcript binds specifically to the oncogene RNA, disabling its capacity to produce protein. Experiments in vitro and in vivo have demonstrated that when an antisense K RAS vector is integrated into lung cancer cells that over express K RAS their tumorigenicity is decreased (4). Despite the promise of such approaches, a number of difficulties remain to be overcome, the most important of which is the need for more efficient systems of gene delivery. No gene transfer system is 100% efficient, unless germ line therapyis contemplated. During the past two decades, there have been major advances in our understanding of how cancer develops, proving that cancer has a genetic basis (2). A series of genetic abnormalities that accumulate in one cell may result in a pattern of abnormal clonal proliferation. Our growing understanding of the genetic basis of cancer offers new opportunities for the molecular prevention and treatment of cancer. There has been a

The colors green and gold in Oz the Great and Powerful and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, suggest the mystery, wealth, and greed in each story. Oscar and Charlie journey through magical worlds in order to acquire knowledge about the true meaning of values and ethics in life and where they can be found, a lesson that continues to speak today. The archetypal mystery in a quest must have a defined set of events in a narrative. This standard quest involves the departure, which involves the character to have a certain goal set in mind to accomplish, it also involves a return which is bringing back what they found and accomplished once they have fulfilled their journey. Upgrading Data Communication At The Classroom Upgrading data communication in the classroom would be an appropriate technological advantage because research indicates that broadband and cloud computing are transforming education. The outdated teaching tools that we grew up with (i.e. chalkboards and hardback books) are now being replaced with interactive digital content delivered through high speed broadband using blackboard and e books. This means elementary school students can explore the surface of the sun through high definition video as they learn about the solar system. Furthermore, middle schoolchildren can experience history lessons through interactive videos and high schoolstudents can discover geometry through gaming (Robyler, M. D. Edwards, J., 2000, p. 79). Consequently, accessing broadband for digital learning is a necessity for students to have a chance to compete in todays technological society. From a pedagogical standpoint, updating communications in the classroom creates an environment of enrichment and engages students actively in the learning process. Upgrading the data communications in the classroom from a programmatic perspective enables students and teachers to quickly access the database, monitor seismographic data, and establish electronic pen pals in Latin America (Picciano, 2011, p. 110). • 44. What Happens If You Expose Individuals To Web Pages Essay What happens if you expose individuals to web pages for short periods of time? First impressions of web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been shown as powerful in a variety of contexts which include studying personal character attributes. There has been multiple research and experiments where individuals were exposed to web pages for 50 milliseconds and how individuals formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of Lindgaard et al 2006 this study is where the participants were exposed to a website twice when viewing the website for only 50 milliseconds. The study showed that individuals can form a reliable first impression whilst only viewing the website for 50 milliseconds. Within the second study conducted by... Furthermore, the research showed us that the relationship between visual appealing ratings fell below par for twenty two participants for the first and second phase. There was a high correlation between visual appeal and other characteristics such as the participants noted the web pages were boring, good design, bad design, bad colour etc... However, there was a rather low correlation amongst visual appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst attractiveness and clear confusing judgements. By only viewing web pages for 50 milliseconds individuals can form a first impression. The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes of web page design and how design affects attractiveness is vital for HCI designers which will enable them to implement and produce a suitable system for users which meets their requirements. It is imperative that the HCI designer takes into consideration the necessary factors related to attractiveness and unattractiveness of websites. It is imperative that the design of the website must include technical and low level aspects making sure that it interacts with each other. There has been research relating to design concepts. The work of Kim et el., 2003; Park et al., 2004 where they found out that design features that relate to websites objects, backgrounds and the

The dance was adapted from a story by E.T.A Hoffman with the music by Tchaikovsky. The show was a faithful adaptation of The Nutcracker with the dancers, costumes, sets, and Tchaikovsky s music all playing an integral part in depicting the story in an entertaining way. Overall, the presentation was successful in portraying the holiday classic that is The Nutcracker, and the majestic sets and costumes along with the music allowed for sustained attention and spectacle that was still true to the narrative of The Nutcracker. The production did this by having grand, bright costumes and sets that resembled the time period of The Nutcracker and depicted the setting of the dances, the original music by Tchaikovsky which was able to produce the emotions that come with the story, and lighting techniques that showed the weather and time of day which helped show what scenes were being told throughout the performance. While observing this dance ballet, there were many things that caught my attention. First, the theater itself was extremely large, and the stage itself was big, and the dancers had plenty of room to move across the stage and perform their routines. There were many dancers, and they all played various roles that ranged from Clara, Fritz, Herr Drosselmeyer, the Rat King, the Nutcracker, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, and many more. French existentialist writer, Simone de Beauvoir, states in The Second Sex (1949), powerful analysis of what a woman should be in the West. She goes into detail on how femininity is a social construct and was constructed for the male gaze, the patriarchy (Nigel Warburton, 2014). This is an argument in both Sandra Lee Bartky s Foucault, Femininity, and the Modernization of Patriarchal Power, according to her, you are born into your gender, not the characteristics of it (2010, 27). And in Rosalind Gill s Supersexualize Me!: Advertising and the Midriffs , she discusses how advertisements are a major factor in shaping our views on what is masculine and feminine (2007, 95). In this essay, I will compare each chapters arguments, this includes power and femininity and who is to blame for disciplining women s bodies to fit a narrow spectrum of femininity; and the similarities of the arguments when discussing how femininity is being shown in the size, movement and appearance of a women s body and how they both reject societal meanings of femininity. As for the first difference, power and femininity are shown in very different lights. Gill argues that women in our modern media portray a form of sexual power , which is an active subject for the male gaze (2007, 100). She discusses the shift of society s definition of femininity from child like passive individuals to an active sexual subject for the male gaze. And when portrayed as

The Tricky Goblin And The Green Goo CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR The Tricky Goblin and the Green Goo I must have lost my footing somehow during my slip through the mirror because I fall out of it and crashed with a with a painful thud on my bedroom floor. The goblin bared his fangs and his beady eyes began to glow. Shut up and hand it over boy! I suppose you want this? I said daggling the key out in front of me. The witches scramble to their feet. I ran down the hall and into my room, slamming the door and locking it behind me. Gordok started to pound on the door. The jig is up boy. Just give us what we want and I ll let your Parent s go. • 52. A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager Essay... A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager In the gambling world bets are made based on odds, the probability or likelihood that something would happen. In the court of law, cases are decided upon by the weight of evidence presented by the respective parties. The common link between these general scenarios is that decisions are made based on some outside evidential factor. The more probable something is likely to happen, or the more evidence presented in favor or opposed to something, the greater the tendency that a decision will coincide with that probability or evidence. This kind of logic has also been used when arguing about the existence of God. It has been argued that God s existence is necessary based on the logic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pascal starts off his essay by stating that, If there is a God, He is infinitely incomprehensible...He has no affinity to us. (Pascal, 78) This already poses a problem with the argument he is about to present in support of believing that God exists. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being a actually exists? It would obviously follow that we would never come to a full understanding of this god, and any efforts to believe in or worship him would be in vain. Are we just to believe that this god exists and that s all, or is there a code of conduct that is to follow this belief? How do you act in a manner that is pleasing to being that you do not and never will wholly understand? Pascal goes on to state that once we have made this rational decision to believe in God then we start to act like we believe in this god and from practicing these actions habitually your belief will strengthen Pascal, 78). The problem here lies in the basis of the strength for this belief. To make a decision and then act on that decision seems pretty consistent; but, to make a decision and have that decision become a belief based on habitual actions does not follow at all. Is this belief that your holding to a product of sincerity of habit? If you start to act you
  • 53. Essay On Judeo-Christian Worldviews Man will either be governed by the Bible or the bayonet, John Adams once said. The world is classified into many different worldviews, but two opposing worldviews are: Judeo Christian and Humanism. From Matthew 28: 18 19, we see that Judeo Christian is a worldview based on Biblical Truth, which Jesus Christ is the Creator of all, and that stewardship is our duty. The proponents of this worldview think that man is corrupt. On the other hand, Humanists believe that man is perfectible. Man is not born with a sinful nature and could choose to be good. Man has chosen which way he wants to be governed. They have elected which path he will take; either the Bible or themselves. The Judeo Christian worldview of economics or power believes what is taught in the Bible. In the Bible, God reveals that man was born sinful, does not do well by injustice, should work, shouldn t depend on other people, and respect other people s private property, through diligence they prosper, not become envious by other people s property, man is created equal even if they are rich or poor, debt creates bondage, and being righteous can help your life. That is no sympathy to the poor and suffering. While Judeo Christians believe that all men are created equal, Humanists believes that there is a class system. In this class system, only the upper classes enjoy the measure of freedom that the government gave them. Making this external
