Essay On How I Spent My Holidays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "How I Spent My Holidays" may initially seem like a
straightforward task, but as one delves deeper into the process, the complexity becomes
apparent. The challenge lies not in the recounting of events but in weaving a narrative that
captivates the reader while offering a unique perspective on the holiday experience.
The difficulty arises in striking a balance between providing vivid details and avoiding a
mundane, list-like account of activities. It requires the artful use of language to transform a
sequence of events into a compelling story that engages the reader's imagination. Juggling
descriptive elements, emotions, and reflections demands a keen sense of storytelling.
Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and generic expressions, ensuring that the
essay stands out among countless others on the same theme. It's not merely a recounting of
events but an opportunity to showcase one's writing style, creativity, and the ability to convey a
personal experience in a relatable manner.
The difficulty is heightened when attempting to convey the essence of the holidays, capturing
the joy, introspection, or personal growth that may have occurred during that time. Striking the
right tone to convey the emotional journey without becoming overly sentimental or detached
adds another layer of complexity.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "How I Spent My Holidays" demands more than just
recounting events; it requires the skill to transform those experiences into a captivating narrative.
It's a challenge that involves balancing descriptive elements, emotions, and reflections to create a
unique and engaging piece. However, with careful attention to detail and a thoughtful approach
to storytelling, one can successfully navigate the complexities of this seemingly simple topic.

Trolling In Social Media
The media industry is constantly growing and converging through every American
household, so does the number of online trolls. Trolling is a behavior within the
internet that is considered a form of bullying and harassment. This behavior can be
seen all over the social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and
anywhere a comment can be left. These trolls leave negative or cruel comments to
aggravate a person for a response in hopes it will escalate. Some instances they will
escalate to the point a person will fear for their life due to the threating comments.
For example, Caroline Criado Perez, a feminist campaigner from the UK, was
viciously trolled for successfully campaigning women to be on England notes.
Online the trolls were sending her rape and death threats, also posting what they
thought was her address. Trolling has become an epidemic that should be monitored
because as Americans we have rights, it has a damaging effect on society, and it will
force society to conform.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the trolling done online stems from people having their own opinion and
ideas. When someone posts a video, a picture, or a post that is even a little
controversial, others will start posting there take on it. Eventually it turns into a
nasty argument and the trollers begin there trolling instead of having an adult
debate. The definition of arguing is an exchange regarding opposite views done in
a hostile manner. Arguing is not an effective way to express points of view. On the
other hand, debating is the smarter way to state one views. When one debates they
are expressing their views and beliefs in a formal manner. Society knows the
difference between but believes both are acceptable because of the trolling that is
allowed online. If the comments on line were removed it would force society to had
controversial situations

Organizational Structure Of The Organization
Nowadays, with the rapid modernization of daily life and living standards increase
quickly, people s needs for quality of products and services therefore also increase.
For this reason, enterprises need to set up the structure and policies to suit the
changes of the market. One of the essential and most important factors to achieve that
is the organizational structure. Organizational structure theory is especially useful for
people who manage organizations, or who aspire to do so in the future. It enables the
manager to see that his or her organization and its problems are rarely wholly unique.
Usually, much of value can be learned from examining the behavior of other
organizations in broadly similar circumstances. Organizations,... Show more content

I. Organizational structure:
1. Definition:
An organizational structure is defined as the formal system of task and reporting
relationships that controls, coordinates and motivates employees so that they can
achieve an organization s goals . It consists of activities such as task allocation,
coordination and supervision, which are directed towards the achievement of
organizational aims. 2. The classification of organizational structure
a) Pyramidal structure:
Pyramidal structure (also called hierarchical or line structure) is one of the simplest
structures with one person or a group of people at the top and number of people
below them. All the people in the organization know who their superior and
immediate subordinates are. This kind of structure is suitable for small businesses
where there are few subordinates or organizations where there is largely of routine
nature and methods of operations are simple. Advantages

Promotes prompt decision making
Easy to control
Communication is fast and easy as there is only vertical flow of communication Lack
of specialization
Managers might get overloaded with too many things to do.

Summary Of Susan Cain s Quiet
Susan Cain s Quiet argues for the power of introverts. In her book, introverts are the
main subject of her book. Who are introverts? What makes them different? Those
where the main questions I had while reading this book. In this book Susan Cain
tells her experience being an introvert, how she once puked before a presentation, she
also tells the story of other introverts, how they maintained being introverts in a
world filled with extroverts that can do what for introverts seems impossible without
having to think twice about it. Introverts are often mistaken as shy or quiet, mostly
because they keep themselves, they see thing in a different light. Introverts and
others often view their quietness or the way they like to be alone as a second class
personality trait, somewhere between a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

introverted child to orchids, orchids are need to be attended to carefully in other to
grow to its full limits. When I think about her opinion on introverts even though she
s one herself she prescribes them as scared, and that may not be the message she s
trying to get through, but even with the introverts she describe in the book, they are
often hiding, or mimicking the people/environment surrounding them and don t
show who they are until presented with a challenge. I however disagree with this
point, many of the most successful people in our world are introverts ranging from
Abraham Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt to Albert Einstein, Bill Gates and Rosa Parks.
These are strong spoken respected people in our society today and while they choose
to do thing differently, it doesn t mean there are not content with who they are, and
because she had a different experience with being introverted doesn t mean the same

Compare And Contrast Low Carb Diet Vs. Low Fat Diets
Compare and Contrast : Low Carb Diets vs. Low Fat Diets Nowadays health and
weight loss programs has become integrated in many Americans everyday lives.
Two popular ways to lose weight are through, low carb diets like the Atkins diet,
and low fat diets. They both are in sheer contrast when talking about the type of
foods linked to the diet, the low carb diet limits a person to only consuming foods
that are high in carbs, such as rice, bread, and pasta, on the contrary, the low fat diet
only limits a person to consuming foods that are in high in fat like milk, beans, and
meats. Although the two diets sound very different, they share correlations with
each other. The low carb diet and the low fat diet both claim they re a great tool for
weight loss. Even though their goal is to achieve weight loss and good health they

Low fat dieters need some fats in their diet to stay healthy. In an online article, it
was stated that Fats supply energy and essential fatty acids and promote absorption
of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K . In contrast with the good fat , there is also
the opposite end of the spectrum which is the bad fat , and has been linked to high
cholesterol and heart disease. It is mostly found in milk and other milk based
products. Therefore, the low fat diet encourages the reduction of saturated fat sense it
is the main cause of high cholesterol

is a piece of artwork made by Diego VelГЎzquez in 1656 in the Cuarta del Principe
in AlmcГЎzar in Madrid. It is one of the most famous paintings in the Spanish history.
Velazquez was trying to bring this paintingcloser to Spanish History. The artwork is
a painting of the infanata and her attendants. She has two maids around her, and
JosГ© Nieto in the doorway. Behind the infanata there is a canvas, on the canvas is
a picture of Mari BГЎrbola and Nicolasito Pertusato. The infanatas parents, Philip IV
and Mariana de Ulloa, reflections are in the mirror. The artist also includes himself in
the painting, painting a huge canvas. When VelГЎzquez was painting the portrait, he
was trying to paint like the technique called Baroque. This technique is the style used
to exaggerate motion in order to produce drama and tension in paintings, sculptures,
literature, dance and music. He was trying to make a complex and credible
composition that would convey a sense of life and reality. Velazquez limits between
reality and painting.. The composition combines unity and variety. This painting has
a specific location, and identified figures, and its a group portrait.
Pablo Picasso made many interpretations of this painting. He has made a series of
58 paintings. He wasn t trying to create a copy or variation of Velazquez s work,
but to create his own unique painting. He made these paintings in memory of
Jaume SabartГ©s. He wanted to show all the different feelings and ideas inside her
mind. He changed the face structure of the infanata because he was trying to show
the difficulty it was for her to balance her feelings, emotions, and ideas. The two
paintings by the two different artists are very similar to each other, just as they are
different. One of the main similarities are the princess, both of the paintings include
the princess even though they look very different. They both also show how the
princess is focused on the light. In velazquez painting she is looking at the light,
while in Picasso s painting it shows the brighter colors to show the light. Both of the
paintings have many different reasoning to why they made this
Causes Of The Revolutionary War
Causes of the Revolutionary War The relationship between Americans and British
got tense right after the French Indian War in 1754, where British won, fighting on
the side of the colonies, however, lost a lot of money. They decided to take
advantage of the Americans and imposed the series of acts, such as Sugar Act of
1764 and Stamp Act of 1765, which was not well taken by colonists. Consequently,
British desire to control the colonies and make a profit from them, by establishing
taxes and laws, led the colonies to resist and turned into the Revolutionary War. To
begin with, the lack of the money for the British troops led to setting the taxes and
laws, such as Quartering Act of 1765. The main idea of that act was that colonists

As a result, five colonists were killed. Consequently, the governor ordered British
troops to be removed from Boston. Eight soldiers were sent to trial for the murder.
John Adams, a colonist, agreed to be an advocate for them. Only two of the accused
were found guilty of manslaughter. The importance of the Boston massacre is that it
showed the British desire to take the control over the colonists, and in their
intention, they would be able to use the physical force against people. Since
townspeople were actually killed, the colonial inhabitants got angry. Despite the fact
that troops were removed, Boston Massacre gave colonists the idea, that if they
would not obey the British, soldiers will use the weapons to control them. Further,
the Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774. It was
convened as a response to the Intolerable Acts of the same year. Colonists were
enraged about the closure of the Boston s port. Fifty five delegates from twelve
colonies were there, except for those from Georgia, which was dependent on the
supplies from British. During the convention, the Declaration of Colonial Rights was
adopted, which deprived British Parliament of the right to tax the colonies. In
addition, Americans completely boycotted the trade with British, which included
both exporting and importing of goods. The First Continental Congress gave
colonists the confidence that working together they would be able to release the
colonies

The -for and Against Argument with Regards to Innate and...
Q.1 In your own words, detail the for and against argument with regards to innate
and learned behaviour. Feel free to include your own opinion, but be sure to justify
it. Try to include an equal amount of information for the both sides. Use at least 500
words for your answer. For many years psychologists have been researching
behaviour patterns from birth. This is where the Nature vs Nurture debate begins.
Nativists believe that humans are born with various skills needed to survive, where as
Empircist believe that humans acquire all or almost of all their behavioural traits
from nurture . Some behaviours are innate, unlearned and instinctive. From the
moment we are born there are instinctive motions that we do. An example of this...

months apart we shared the experience for a short period of time. My sister
struggled, with my niece unable to latch onto her for several weeks. Feeding time
soon became a very traumatic experience for both parties, however my daughter
and I had a completely different experience. From the first feed we had success, it
continued that way for many months. Later my sister learnt that her daughter had
had colic , which is a condition in which an otherwise healthy baby cries or
displays symptoms of distress frequently and for extended periods of time, without
any discernible cause. With this information in mind, it left me wondering whether
it in fact took my niece a longer period of time to learn how to breast feed, or if the

Voltaire s Candide Essay
Candide On November 21, 1694, Francois Marie Arouet, otherwise known as
Voltaire, was born in Paris. The youngest of five, son to Francois and Marie Arouet,
Voltaire grew up in a household that had come to know the pleasantries of upper class
french society.
Marie, his mother, had gained the family access to Louis XIV court through her
realtives. Because of Voltaires priviledged lineage he was able to study under the
Abbe de Chateaneuf, at the Louis le Grand Jesuit College in Paris. Voltaire spoke
very highly of his Abbe in later years. After ten years at school, he was sent to study
law in Paris under his fathers orders. Early the following year, 1715, Frances most

The man in blue, later takes Candide and fits him with a Bulgar army uniform. His
companions find him to be a prodigy because the lashes he recieves decrease
rapidly each day. Once Candide is facing battle he says, Nothing could have been
more splendid, brilliant, smart or orderly then the two armies. The trumpets, fifes,
oboes, drums and cannons produced a harmony whose equal was never heard in hell.
(pg 22)
Though Voltaire may not have had this personal experience, the story had been
heard many times. Go to war fight and die for the power of a far off monarch.
Candide may be simple, but he is not stuipid. Once he sees the equal attrocities
caused by the Bulgars and enemy Avars he takes the opportunity, provided by
chaos, to flee. Many of Voltaires writings are inclusive of the theme of wrongful
war. In Charles XII, one of his earlier works, he addresses the lust for conquest and
its consequences. At the age of eighteen, Charles XII had learned his talent for
conquest and by the end of the book he had lost more than he had gained. (green
voltaire) Voltaire finds war to be the same everywhere, his use of the words,
international law, and, natural law, prove this. The Bulgars burned the Avars village
in accordance with International law. ( ) It was declared, by the old woman, that
international law involved searching for diamonds where, ...we women usually allow
nothing but the nozzle of an enema.

Now my shiny week and a half old thing had an owie and I was crestfallen.
The next day I found myself thinking about the accident in a weird context. I found
myself thinking about it in the association of my sweet young friend who was
fighting for her life after being in a car accident of her own. I thought about it in the
context of a brave and strong man who had been felled by a back injury which

good people?
As I drove along on that road that morning without the knowledge of what would
happen to me that night the only answer I could find came from the humbling verse,
What are you oh pot to say to the potter why have you made me this way? If that wasn

Professor Kraychir A motivated workforce can be a significant success when
employees are motivated to work at a higher levels of productivity. Also this means
the whole organization is more effective at reaching it s goals. Rewards can be a
positive outcome when it comes to boosting your organizations self confidence and
higher employee satisfaction. Having a reward system can always be a good
outcomes because this shows how much your workers are willing to work to
achieving a goal in order to receive something in return. This not only gets things
done but brings out another side of your organizations as a whole. Of course when
using a reward systems and you decide to put one in place for your organization,
there should be a good enough reward placed. Just for example a worker will not
work two times as hard for something they do not want. The reward has to get your
organization, employees motivated to achieve the goal you have set. There are
aligned organizational goals, when an employee helps achieve one of its goals a
heft reward often follows. And that s what get the worker bees running, seeing that

The Pros And Cons Of Sexual Assault
Harvey Weinstein, Ben Affleck, John Besh, James Toback,
Kevin Spacey and Bill Cosby are just a few well known public figures that have
been accused of sexual assault. One controversial issue that comes up about the
assaults on some of the victims is why did they wait so long to report the assaults.
Some even question whether the victims were, in fact, assaulted at all. While the
media and press reported the alleged assaults, the attention seemed to focus on the
public figure, and not the victim. The victim is never perceived the victim.
It s very easy to draw conclusions or voice opinions about sexual assault and why
victims wait so long to come forward looking from the outside in. However, it is a
totally different situation for the victim. I know all too well because I am a victim
of sexual assault. I was sexually assaulted not once but twice by two brothers on
two separate occasions. The first occurrence happened when I was a thirteen year
old virgin. I was a junior in high school and needed materials and other supplies to
complete a home economics project. My mother did not have a car, so I asked a
young man I knew to take me to K mart to get the supplies I needed. On the way
back from K mart, he decided to take a different route home. He took me to a very

Fluorescence Spectroscopy And The Emission Wavelength
Of...
Abstract Fluorescent properties are used to study protein and small molecule
interactions. Fluorescent spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of
eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its emission wavelength was 545 nm.
Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation wavelength was 330
nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be
indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction
between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid
(ANS) was studied through fluorescenceand fluorescence resonance energy transfer
(FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of 358 nm which could also be indicative
of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the emission wavelength
was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow FRET.
Introduction
Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic
acids of a macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain
wavelengths and then emit it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light
it is excitation and the light released is emission. The light particles, photons, hit a
fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013). Excitation occurs by the
valence electrons of the molecule receiving energy and moving to a higher energy
state from the ground state. The excited electrons will later return to the ground state
because they
The Necessity to Swap Ethnic Profiling for Behavioral...
Humanity has always strived to become more civilized . Whether it was the
manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the
exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our
predecessors. We think of civilization as the opposite of brutality and we associate
the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this reason, we are unable to
deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. However, civilization
doesn t abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and
bestows it into the hands of a separate entity (like the military). (Lancaster)
Historically, civilization has demonstrated the greatest degree of violence ... Show

For this reason, ethnic profiling should carry less weight in the decision making of
law enforcement agents and in the realm of criminal justice. In turn, the criminal
justice system should promote the use behavioral profiling, a more effective
alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests.
There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists
admit that ethnic profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no
one has attempted to eradicate it until recently. This is because America s
imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate until a couple of decades
ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its
root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration.
When you analyses the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation
between the impact of ethnic profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In
other words, as people become more scared the likelihood that they will perform or
tolerate racial profiling increases.
Fear and violence go hand in hand, and the 50 s and 60 s left America trembling with
fear. During this period we observed the height of the Cold War and the Civil Rights
Movement. Apparently, the threat of communism and the empowerment of blacks
turned out to be a poor combination
The Theory Of Power And Leadership Ideas
Ideas are beliefs and desires constructed in organized pattern with its creation,
components and impact that define the political structure and bind the ruling
authority in a set of complying characteristics of that idea. There are unexplained

political, economic or religious ideas. Democracy, power, freedom and rights,
citizenship and protest, social justice and equality are all ideas based on which
institutions make policies and rules. As abstract and non specific element of thought

In today s world, it has to be admitted that more and more power is being given to the
people and the hypothesis that power belongs to the people, and they govern
themselves has undoubtedly established liberal democracy as the most appropriate
form of governance. Ideas of equality, justice and freedom are secured by democratic
regimes and therefore over centuries, from French revolution to Arab springs in 2010.
Today s governments are liberal but modern democratic territories. They preach
supremacy and freedom of individuals provides fundamental rights, rule of law and
security but at the same time the system representing people takes the leading role.
Modern states have to incorporate various interests, requirements and political
requirements and thus look at collective interests idealizing stability, international
image, and maintaining balanced political structure.
The constitutional framework of a state bases its policies, decisions on the ideas and
ideologies enshrined by the supreme law of the land constitution. All political, social
and economic laws, policies are formulated due to the ideological guidelines and
principals inculcated by states. The ideas of freedom, security, justice, rule of law,
peace, protest, etc. are the building blocks of governance, though ever changing in
their meaning. Berlin, discussing J.S. Mill, distinguishes between negative liberty,
Mediterranean Basin Polytheism
The Mediterranean Basin experienced many political and cultural changes from the
8th century BC to the 5th century CE. First, religious views in the Roman Empire
that spread throughout the Mediterranean changed from polytheism to monotheism
over time because people were unsatisfied with the lack of spiritual passion in their
current beliefs. Second, political structures and forms of government changed from
independent city states and republics to empires due to expanding political entities,
trade, and colonization. Lastly, architecture and art continued to improve society by
promoting political organization and public welfare.

Greece had many city states with acropolises, agoras, and temples. Greek architects
constructed acropolises on fortified hilltops for citizens to discuss government
business. The agora was strategically designed to be in the center of a city state as a
marketplace for the general public to shop and gather. Many Greek city states built
temples and monuments to honor their patron deity and serve as religious structures.
The most famous of those temples was the Parthenon in Athens, which was
considered a massive architectural feat at the time. Approximately one century after
the Parthenon was constructed, Alexander the Great began to spread Hellenistic art.
Two major statues of Hellenistic art were the Colossus of Rhodes and Nike of
Samothrace. The sculptures honored the two gods and commemorated war victories.
Similar to Greece, Ancient Rome s architects designed structures benefiting the
general public, political religion, and religion. Many government buildings and the
Twelve Tables were located in the Forum, an intricately designed plaza in the
center of Rome. The Pantheon, constructed in 27 BC, honored all the Roman gods
and displayed the brilliance of Roman architects. Other structures to provide
entertainment and promote public health were constructed from Julius Caesar s
rule to the end of the Roman Empire, 476 AD. Public baths, aqueducts, and roads
were created to promote a healthier and more efficient lifestyle for the people of the
Roman Empire. The Colosseum was a source of entertainment for many people and
incorporated advanced technology, such as arches and drainage systems. As the
Roman Empire gradually declined, architecture was used for defense purposes.
Multiple defensive walls were built to protect Roman Empire from invaders. One of

included in the Felidae family, or big cat family. Snow leopards were formerly
classified as Leo uncia but were placed in the genus Panthera with the other big cat
species due to their common ancestors. Snow leopards are closely related to tigers, or
Pantheratigris. Both species separated from the big cat family around 3.9 million

3.2 million years ago, which shows their close tie to tigers (Encyclopedia Britannica,

Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan

range areas. The natural diet of snow leopards consists primarily of wild blue
sheep and Siberian ibex, but also includes pikas, hares, and game birds. An average
of 1.5 kilograms of meat is required per snow leopard daily, which is equivalent to
3.3 pounds (Lyngdoh et. al, 2014). With much of the land being developed for
livestock production, the natural source of food for snow leopards has depleted
from their natural habitats. The decrease in prey resources has contributed to an
estimated 20 percent decline in the overall snow leopard population in the past 20

livestock and domestic animals as the snow leopard s new prey source. Although
human density of the land is low, much of the land used for livestock overlaps snow
leopard territory, causing an issue between humans and snow leopards (Jackson,
2015). This issue has contributed to their continued list as an endangered
Psychological And Physical Aspects Of Science
Philosophy of science has long studied the psychological and physical aspects of
scientific knowledge, where situational factors inescapably influence researchers and
outcomes of scientific studies and knowledge in general (reference). This idea is
reflective in philosophy by the term situated knowers (Stamford), broadly explained
by considering how the same object can be interpreted differently by others in terms
of their individual relation to it.
An explanation of an object is reflective of, but not limited to location in space and
time, emotions, attitudes, cognitive approach, worldviews and childhood. Ultimately,
these factors represent the extent to which a person believes a claim is significant
and valuable. The feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminism in science will be proved significant in the sense of providing a paradigm
for exposing human values suppressed within scientific work by demonstrating how
assumptions of gender have influenced scientific practice. As science is not and can
never be wholly objective, it will be argued that the feminist critique does not
undermine the objectivity of science, nor does its contributions make it more
objective as science was never objective to begin with. It will then be discussed how
feminist theories that are based on objectivity diverge from the crux of this matter
and can be seen as detrimental to the field. Exemplified Sexism in Science
Science is argued to have long come up with examples for the discrepancy of
achievements between men and women within biology, evolution and psychology,
exhibiting a long history of gendered bias. Under the guise of biology, sexism has
often emerged to explain female oppression, citing the influence of the sperm and egg
sleeping beauty/prince charming (Okruhlik 1994, p. 147) rendition of reproduction.
Science has presumably portrayed the female egg as an inactive participant within
reproduction, allowing the sperm take on an active heroic role that soley endures the
journey to fertilization. Science then ignored contrary evidence found in 1895 that
the egg produces fingerlike projections to actively guide the sperm, which has only

This means that whatever is said about the nature of God and God s being in the
world must be based on the biblical account of God s revelatory activity. We are not
free to say anything we please about God. Although scripture is not the only source
that helps us to recognize divine activity in the world, it cannot be ignored if we
intend to speak of the Holy One of Israel.
(2)The doctrine of God in black theology must be of the God who is participating
in the liberation of the oppressed of the land. This hermeneutical principle arises
out of the first. Because God has been revealed in the history of oppressed Israel
and decisively in the Oppressed One, Jesus Christ. It is impossible to say anything
about God without seeing him as being involved in the contemporary liberation of all
oppressed people.
Therefore, the God in black theology is the God of and for the oppressed, the God
who comes into view in their liberation. Any other approach is a denial of biblical

Havisham Review
Havisham Havisham is a 16 line and four stanza poem with four lines making up
each stanza. This poem shows the nature of an old woman after being devastated
after being left at her wedding day and having lost her fortune to the man who left
her. The four stanza poem is a harsh reflection of anger, pain, and disbelief; it s a
sad tale of a wedding and life gone horribly wrong that still haunts the character. In
my review, I will explore the poem through each line and comment on the literary
terms and the meaning of each line. The title of the poem is very important in
understanding the poem. The title is the name of a character from Charles Dickens

clearly a sexual connotation with Ms. Havisham feeling erotic by his thoughts,

him. Lines 11 and 12 are clearly sexual connotations as Ms. Havisham describes
what she does to the body with my fluent tongue in its mouth in its ear then down

Software Development Methodologies For Software

Software development methodologies A software development methodology in
software engineering is a framework that is used to structure, plan, and control the
process of developing an information system. A wide variety of such frameworks
have evolved over the years, each with its own recognized strengths and weaknesses.
One software developing methodology will not suit all projects requirements, and
best suited should be chosen based on various technical, organizational, project and

stages of software development: Analyzing the problem Market research Gathering

traditional approach to software development can be illustrated through the waterfall

Precarious Work Vs Single Women Essay
Secondly, precarious work affects the living state of women financially as single
mothers and how they were seen dependent primarily on their husbands wages and
occupational choices. Now as single mothers they are unable to escape the
debilitating effects of impoverishment which is shown through Ann Duffy and Nancy
Mandell s article. This article articulates that a women s income drops by 20 to 40
percent as single motherbecause they do not have a male as a breadwinner for the
family(Duffy and Mandell, 253). Females are more likely to experience this
situation because if they do go into the work workforce they are payed less than
men. Single mothers tend to be stigmatized when they receive social assistance in

and protected job, thus forcing them into the dangerous workforce. Moreover, Duffy

affects their children and how they are at risk of likely going into poverty like their
mothers. I believe being financially unsettled has an major impact on one s life
considering that these single mothers have to experience situations in life that they
had never thought of and live a life of misfortune through hazardous work in order to

On June 7, 1494, the growing powers of Spain and Portugal signed the Treaty of
Tordesillas. This treaty would precisely divide the newly discovered Americas
between the two influential empires who competed for absolute domination. The line
of demarcation resolved any potential conflict, yet it failed to acknowledge the fifty
million natives already established in the Americas. As illustrated by the treaty, these
power driven motivations that floated around Europe would result in the birth of
chaos as the conquistadors, through violence, disease, and slavery, would bring the

overwhelming effect both the pre Columbian natives and the Spanish had on the
land. The pre Columbian natives living in the northern Peruvian coast had
accidentally created an armour for their ridges. They would discard their mollusk
shells which protected the ridges from erosion for nearly 4700 years and produced
a vast corrugated landscape that is visible from space, says archaeologist Dan
Sandweiss of the University of Maine, Orono, one of the paper s authors. This
coincidental protection of the landscape, however, came to a quick end with the
arrival of the conquistadors. The conquistadors decimated the population of the
natives through war, disease, and violence, and there was no one left to build this
protective layer for the ridges. So the ridges simply eroded and vanished. The
research shows how the pre Columbian natives affected their land, protecting it from
the winds and erosion, and also emphasizes the brutal actions of the
A Short History Of Self Esteem
A Short History of Self Esteem
The history of self esteem can be traced back throughout time. In this section we
have a critical look at the self esteem movement. Though an overweening conceit of
our own merit be vicious and disagreeable, nothing can be more laudable than to
have a value for ourselves, where we really have qualities that are valuable . . . it is
certain that nothing is more useful to us, in the conduct of life, than a due degree of
pride, which makes us sensible of our own merit, and gives us a confidence and
assurance in all our projects and enterprises.

century Scottish Enlightenment thinker David Hume shows, the idea that it is ... Show

Seligman argues that the 1960s changed all this. First the rise of wealth and
consumerism meant that it was easier to conceptualise the individual at the centre of
his/her destiny. And psychology, partly as a result of Seligman s own learned
helplessness experiments, created theories which put the self directed individual at
the centre of his or her own life. The rise of the self esteem movement From the late
1960s on self esteem became a fashionable and influential idea. One of the first
exponents was a young psychology professor called Stanley Coopersmith from
California. A more influential figure was Nathaniel Branden. Branden was a
psychotherapist and devotee of the philosopher Ayn Rand. He has written countless
books on self esteem and is considered the intellectual father of the self esteem
movement. As we shall see in another section, Branden s work is sophisticated and
his definition of self esteem, and notions of how it can be boosted, is a far cry from
the exhortations to feel special that have come to characterise self esteem building
exercises in American schools.
Self esteem may simply have remained a psychological and philosophical concept,
debated by academics, if it had not been taken up by politicians in California in the
late 1980s. John Vasconcellos was a state assemblyman who believed that low self
esteem was the cause of crime, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and

to a boarding school due to their country being at war. On their way to the school,
their plane is shot down and the group of boys land on a deserted island with no

Assemblies are called and the conch is used to establish order. But as tensions rise,
the boys lose faith in being rescued, and their humanity fades. This causes the boys
to rise to a different level, where civilization is forgotten, rules don t matter, and
everyone does as they please. Kill the pig, cut its throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in

order, humans cease to be humans. Golding uses his characters to represent the
conflict between order and chaos. Ralph, Piggy, Simon, and Sameneric who all
represent order, rules, and human civilization opposed to Jack and Roger who
represent chaos, savagery, and anarchy. Without rules and order the boys bring out
their inner beasties, children that started out as humans have now turned into
Race To The Polar Sea
Book Arrangement: Race to the Polar Sea has an obscurely intricate design
complete with three parts, individually asunder by roughly ten chapters. Including
38 chapters may seem substantial and futile, but after having read Ken McGoogan
s thrilling, but informative, narrative recounting all the miniscule yet meaningful
details of Elisha Kent Kane s life, the reader realizes all 361 pages are eminently
imperative. Part I commences with a bit of a biography over the main character in
the book, Elisha Kent Kane. Subsequently after comes Part II, the longest of the
three parts, which delineates Kane s gallant and portentous journey to save Sir John
Franklin. Part III provides a brief synapses into Elisha Kane s life after pursuing,
ultimately unsuccessfully, Sir John Franklin and his deceased crew. Ensuing Part III

Politicians constantly disagree and dispute whether or not it is in America s best
interest to extricate American citizens who have been taken prisoner in the Middle
East: we all know they are truly speaking of their own personal best interests and
debating how the American populous would react to such a decision. After reading
Race to the Polar Sea, specifically Part III, the reader is able to recognize Dr. Elisha
Kane confounded the world with his infamous rescue mission, and the people of this
country loved it. Audience Ken McGoogan clearly intends to attract an intellectually
advanced, insightful reader with an adoration for adventure: in addition to being
engrossed in American history, the quintessential reader of Race to the Polar Sea
needs to be exceedingly astute and well read. Someone lacking a formal education
would not be the felicitous reader of this book, as McGoogan uses an avant garde
style syntax, which, when coupled with his sophisticated and urbane diction make
this book a difficult read.
The Positive Effects Of Growing Up With Autism
Children are largely shaped by the outside world. Their friends, family, and
community determine their attitudes about life in a major way. However, when a
child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is born there are predetermined aspects
to their health and personality. Large biological differences makes environments that
are beneficial to atypical children potentially harmful to children who have autism.
Autism directly impacts socialization and learning aspects that come easy to children
who do not possess autism. Thus, large amount of social services are used to adjust
the child to their environment. Growing up in a ruralenvironment has many positive
effects on an autistic child s mindset and wellbeing, but these positive effects can
often be outweighed by the risks associated with living in such a sparsely populated
area.
Children who have autism require many aspects of life to be accommodated to
their biological condition. One out of 68 people have been diagnosed with a form
of ASD, and this number only continues to grow (Mello, Goldman, Urbano Hodapp
2016). Growing up with autism is not an easy feat. Thus, large family ties are
needed to support the child. However, in rural environments this is not always
possible. In rural environments families make $50,000 or less each year in 53.6%
cases; while urban families made less than $50,000 in 35.6% cases. A struggle for
economic stability creates stress in all households. Thus, the autistic children see at

Relationship Between Age And Cognitive Functions
We enter this world with an immense potential and what is felt as an abundance of
opportunities. We grow older and we learn through everything we do and encounter
in life. With the new knowledge we acquire we make decisions, we see the world
different and we adapt to changes. As we continue to grow older, these Cognitive
functions start declining and the way we problem solve or the way our minds work
start to slow down. Therefore, research has been very intrigued in better
understanding the higher levels of functions in cognitionin adults and later in life for
a certain reasons (Salthouse, 2012). Salthouse (2012), mentions in his article a brief
review on studies focused on the relationship between age and cognitive functions. It
is stated in the article that with higher levels of cognition the better an individual will
function on the job, for example, training and achievements in job performance.
Additionally, as an individual grows older they begin to use more fluid problem
solving skills rather than crystallized measure of cognition (Salthouse, 2012).
Additionally, Kemper and McDowd (2008) also conducted a study of the was aging
can affect an individuals cognitive abilities. They did cognitive measures that were
more centered on the verbal fluency of the individual. Verbal fluency is one of the
executive functioning skills that concentrates on the individuals ability to make more
than one item that meet one single criteria. Based on the scores of these tests,
Analysis Of The Movie Big Two Hearted River
With the availability of mass media in these times, we can view the horrors of war
on a daily basis. During World War I (WW I) these were only in the minds of our
veterans. Mr. Hemingway s story of a returning WW I soldier, Big Two Hearted
River , parts one and two, actually may be representative of his own life
experiences. The story starts as Nick, returns to his home after presumably
fighting for his country in WW I. He decides to return to a favorite place of his
youth to go fishing and decompress from the toils of war. Throughout this short
story, he uses symbols of how war can influence the environment, man s internal
struggles, and one man s struggle to return to normalcy. Many know of the
negative effect war has on human s, but we must also consider the environmental
side. Mr. Hemingway effectively describes this negative impact on nature. He
paints a picture of his place of solace that is partially charred and closely resembles
how a WW I battlefield is depicted in most textbooks. He notices that there are no
buildings left of a town that he once knew. No trees were left standing and it even
appeared that, Even the surface had been burned off the ground (Perkins 164). This
resulted in the black soot that Nick noticed on the grasshoppers. He noticed that
they were not like were not the big grasshoppers with yellow and black or red and
black wings whirring out from their black wing sheathing (Perkins 164). They were
covered in the black soot and he

Additionally, without interview data, most psychological assessments are virtually
meaningless. 2. Psychological Tests/Assessments: These measures typically identify
a wide range of explicit information about the client, such as attitudes, opinions,
beliefs, and knowledge/facts. They also help evaluate the client s level of functioning
in comparison to the norm group. This is particularly important in informing the
diagnosis and treatment of the client. 3. Informant Reports: This involves
interviewing people who know the client, such as family members, friends, and
teachers. These reports can be helpful because they can provide different perspectives
of the client. They may also inform the clinician if the client s behaviors generalize
across settings. 4. Records: By obtaining client records, whether previous mental
health records, medical records, legal records, or school records, the clinician may
find important information that the client did not report. Overall, incorporating
several different sources of information allows for a more comprehensive
understanding of the client, which leads to more accurate and effective diagnosis and
treatment. An empirically grounded approach uses the method of contrasted groups
in order to create a measure that differentiates between groups. This typically involves
administering several items to two different groups, such as patients with depression

My Final Artwork Project Was Produced And Inspired By
The...
My final artwork project was produced and inspired by the reading of Herbert
Marcuse. It is a glass puppet. This puppet came to life due to the reflection of his
book, titled One Dimensional Man. Marcuse was a German American philosopher,
sociologist, and political theorist. He was associated with the Frankfurt Schoolof
critical theory; a social and political philosophical movement of thought. Also
during the 60 s and 70 s, he became a major theorist of the New Left. This was a
broad political movement against capitalism and communist society. His goals were
to implement a broad range of reforms on issues such as civil rights, gay rights,
abortion, gender roles, and drugs.
Marcuse critiqued capitalist social structures, as well as the impositions made on
human freedom expression and joy. He expressed how we may see ourselves as free,
but we are really living in a false democracy and false sense of freedom which subtly
masks an authoritarian rule. In his written works, he criticized capitalism, modern
technology, historical materialism and entertainment culture, arguing that they
represent new forms of social control. These modern cultures strictly divide,
brainwash and influence the way we should live. They really do not represent the real
world. Specifically the entertainment business. Entertainers live their millionaire life
behind a wall and totally forget and ignore the common folks. They are constantly
selling us things we cannot afford, how thin we should
Gold Fish Hypothesis
The null hypothesis of this study is that there is no difference in metabolic rate of
gold fish before and after increasing environmental temperature.
The alternative hypothesis of this study is that metabolic rate of gold fish changes
after increasing environmental temperature.
Results
From a sample size of eight measurements taken from eight different gold fish
population, a two tailed, paired t test was conducted to determine the relationship
between the metabolic rate of gold fish before and after the increase of environmental
temperature. As shown in table 1, for the control group, or the population before the
increase of environmental temperature, the mean amount of oxygen consumed per
hour per kilogram of fish was 267 delta[O2]/(hour*kg), with a ... Show more content

Discussion
The data received from the experiment displayed a p value of 0.001, which was
smaller than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected. In other words, the
data showed that the metabolic rate of gold fish changed after increasing
environmental temperature. The metabolic rate of gold fish was measured by the
change in Oxygen concentration consumed by gold fish per unit of time per
weight of fish, which was delta [O2]/(hour*kg). The result of this study was
significant because it contributed to a previous gold fish study. According to a
gold fish study conducted by F. E. J. Fry and J. S. Hart, the cruising speed of gold
fish was related to water temperature. More specifically, Fry and Hart concluded
that as water temperature increased, the cruising speed of gold fish also increased
until when the temperature became lethal to the fish (41 degree Celsius). Relating
to Fry and Hart s finding, this study suggested that gold fish s behavior related to
water temperature in either one out of two possible ways (Figure 1a and 1b). In the
first case, as water temperature increased, gold fish received heat or energy from the
environment, resulting in
The Pearl The Red Pony And Of Mice And Men
John Steinbeck is the author of The Pearl, The Red Pony, and Of Mice and Men.
Within these three books, Steinbeck uses a creative technique of writing and allows
his characters to learn life lessons. These books tell us about each character and the
struggles they are going through. In The Pearl, The Red Pony, and Of Mice and
Men, Steinbeck uses many examples of characters learning new lessons about life.
In The Pearl, the main life lesson Steinbeck writes about is to not be greedy. Kino,
the main character, finds an unrealistically large pearl that forever changes his life.

act of immaturity when He struck again and again, until the buzzard lay dead, until
its head was red pulp. He was still beating the dead bird when Billy Buck pulled
him off and held him tightly to calm his shaking (RP 37). Jody didn t know how to

the air ahead of him (RP 79). Instead of creating another act of violence, Jody
accepted the loss and was just upset that another horse passed. Jody gained maturity
and learned how to accept loss. Jody learned a huge lesson in life over the course of

The Negative Impact Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
A turning point is a point at which a significant change occurs. In United States
history, there has been many turning points which have dramatically impacted the
development of the nation.Beginning on October 29, 1929, there was a stock
market crash in the United States which was a significant turning point because it
halted the considerable economic success from the roaring 1920s, leading to a
nationwide depression. This event took place during the presidency of Herbert
Hoover, and it resulted in a drastic change of the United States political, economic,
and social structure. This event also spurred the interest of many political figures to
try to save the economy including Franklin Delano Roosevelt who issued many
reforms for the protection of the people and to restore the vitality of the nation. The
Stock Market Crash of 1929 was a major turning point in United States History
because it represented the negative impacts of the changes derived from the roaring
20 s, and the events that occurred after this event strongly impacted the structure of
society leading up to today. There were many historical circumstances that caused
the failure of the stock market in 1929. One of the major reasons for this collapse
was speculation and irrational exuberance of the stock market in the 1920s. The stock
market boosted the confidence of many individuals in the United States for gaining
tremendous wealth because of its growing success in the economy. Therefore, many
people placed
The Ten Plagues In The Book Of Exodus
Exodus, the second book of the New International Version of the Bible, begins with
the end of Joseph s generation. Exodus I:6, Now Joseph and all his brothers and all
that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and
become exceedingly numerous so that the land was filled with them. The new king
of Egypt, who did not know Joseph, came into power. He declared to his people that
the Israeliteshad become too plentiful and would eventually join their enemies in
war, the king decided oppressive slave labor would keep their numbers slim. The
opposite proved true; the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and
spread further escalating the fear of the Egyptians who worked them ruthlessly in

According to P, God was known to the patriarchs as El Shaddai, God Almighty
(Gen 17:1, 35:11, 48:3) and only at Sinai revealed his true name, Yahweh. (JBC)
The Ten Plagues occur from a major battle between Yahweh and the Pharaoh for
the service of the Hebrews . Service, in both Hebr and Eng, means both work and
worship. The redactor has skillfully arranged and augmented old traditions about
seven plagues (cf. the seven in Pss 78:43 51; 105:26 36 and the fact that there are
only seven plagues in J) into three triplets, and the climatic tenth plague is outside
the series. (JBC) As the Israelites are initially given consent to leave, the actual route
they took is discussed within the commentary, The best route for the people is not
the Way of the Philistines the most direct, but guided by the fortress at Zilu but
rather a route through the wilderness at the Sea of Reeds, a swampy area around
Lake Balah. (JBC) The climactic battle in which the Egyptian army comes after the
Israelites and Moses parted the sea, is conceived by each source differently.
According to P, Moses divided the sea by the rod and Israel walked through on dry
land, the waters being a wall to their right and left. When Israel got to the other side,
Moses raised his hand and the walls of water crashed in on the Egyptian army,
wiping them out. According to J, Yahweh the storm god drove back the sea long
enough for Israel to cross in the night and then the sea returned to its wonted flow in
the morning.
The Nonconformity Of Albert Einstein
Have you ever heard of nonconformity? I got a better question. Have you ever heard
of Albert Einstein? Well, Albert Einstein was a nonconformist born on March 13,
1879, he was born in the south of Germany in the city of Ulm. His family was
middle class. Albert Einstein and his family were Jewish. Albert Einstein was
known for making theories and how smart he was. He represents nonconformity by
the way he acted and by the way he dressed the way he had his hair and how he had
little interest in money. A nonconformist is a person who stands out in society.
Albert Einstein showed he was a nonconformist by the way he acted and how he
treated other people. Albert Einstein was super rude to his peers and did not show
a lot of respect to anyone. He often disagreed with what other people said. Albert
Einstein once actually got into a really bad argument with one of his peers when
talking about science. This lead to him getting sent out of the science fair. Ever
since Albert Einstein was little he would have an interest in science and math. He
lacked in the amount of respect he had towards people he knew. Albert Einstein didn
t care who you were he treated all the people the same no matter what. This is a
quote by Albert Einstein I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the
garbage man or the president of the agreement with the way things were and how
things were authorized.Albert Einstein also said the quote Unthinking respect for
authority is the greatest enemy of

Essay On How I Spent My Holidays Crafting an essay on the topic of "How I Spent My Holidays" may initially seem like a straightforward task, but as one delves deeper into the process, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies not in the recounting of events but in weaving a narrative that captivates the reader while offering a unique perspective on the holiday experience. The difficulty arises in striking a balance between providing vivid details and avoiding a mundane, list-like account of activities. It requires the artful use of language to transform a sequence of events into a compelling story that engages the reader's imagination. Juggling descriptive elements, emotions, and reflections demands a keen sense of storytelling. Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and generic expressions, ensuring that the essay stands out among countless others on the same theme. It's not merely a recounting of events but an opportunity to showcase one's writing style, creativity, and the ability to convey a personal experience in a relatable manner. • 2. Trolling In Social Media The media industry is constantly growing and converging through every American household, so does the number of online trolls. Trolling is a behavior within the internet that is considered a form of bullying and harassment. This behavior can be seen all over the social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and anywhere a comment can be left. These trolls leave negative or cruel comments to aggravate a person for a response in hopes it will escalate. Some instances they will escalate to the point a person will fear for their life due to the threating comments. For example, Caroline Criado Perez, a feminist campaigner from the UK, was viciously trolled for successfully campaigning women to be on England notes. Online the trolls were sending her rape and death threats, also posting what they thought was her address. Trolling has become an epidemic that should be monitored because as Americans we have rights, it has a damaging effect on society, and it will force society to conform.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the trolling done online stems from people having their own opinion and ideas. When someone posts a video, a picture, or a post that is even a little controversial, others will start posting there take on it. Eventually it turns into a nasty argument and the trollers begin there trolling instead of having an adult debate. The definition of arguing is an exchange regarding opposite views done in a hostile manner. Arguing is not an effective way to express points of view. On the other hand, debating is the smarter way to state one views. When one debates they are expressing their views and beliefs in a formal manner. Society knows the difference between but believes both are acceptable because of the trolling that is allowed online. If the comments on line were removed it would force society to had controversial situations

Organizational Structure Of The Organization Nowadays, with the rapid modernization of daily life and living standards increase quickly, people s needs for quality of products and services therefore also increase. For this reason, enterprises need to set up the structure and policies to suit the changes of the market. One of the essential and most important factors to achieve that is the organizational structure. Organizational structure theory is especially useful for people who manage organizations, or who aspire to do so in the future. Those where the main questions I had while reading this book. In this book Susan Cain tells her experience being an introvert, how she once puked before a presentation, she also tells the story of other introverts, how they maintained being introverts in a world filled with extroverts that can do what for introverts seems impossible without having to think twice about it. Introverts are often mistaken as shy or quiet, mostly because they keep themselves, they see thing in a different light. When I think about her opinion on introverts even though she s one herself she prescribes them as scared, and that may not be the message she s trying to get through, but even with the introverts she describe in the book, they are often hiding, or mimicking the people/environment surrounding them and don t show who they are until presented with a challenge. I however disagree with this point, many of the most successful people in our world are introverts ranging from Abraham Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt to Albert Einstein, Bill Gates and Rosa Parks. These are strong spoken respected people in our society today and while they choose to do thing differently, it doesn t mean there are not content with who they are, and because she had a different experience with being introverted doesn t mean the same goes for everyone

  • 7. Summary Of The Las Meninas Page 1 of 4 ZOOM Harlie UnderhillDecember 4, 2017Spanish 1B HudsonLas MeninasThe Las Meninas is a piece of artwork made by Diego VelГЎzquez in 1656 in the Cuarta del Principe in AlmcГЎzar in Madrid. It is one of the most famous paintings in the Spanish history. Velazquez was trying to bring this paintingcloser to Spanish History. The artwork is a painting of the infanata and her attendants. She has two maids around her, and JosГ© Nieto in the doorway. Behind the infanata there is a canvas, on the canvas is a picture of Mari BГЎrbola and Nicolasito Pertusato. The infanatas parents, Philip IV and Mariana de Ulloa, reflections are in the mirror. The artist also includes himself in the painting, painting a huge canvas. When VelГЎzquez was painting the portrait, he was trying to paint like the technique called Baroque. This technique is the style used to exaggerate motion in order to produce drama and tension in paintings, sculptures, literature, dance and music. He was trying to make a complex and credible composition that would convey a sense of life and reality. Velazquez limits between reality and painting.. The composition combines unity and variety. This painting has a specific location, and identified figures, and its a group portrait. Pablo Picasso made many interpretations of this painting. He has made a series of 58 paintings. He wasn t trying to create a copy or variation of Velazquez s work, but to create his own unique painting. He made these paintings in memory of Jaume SabartГ©s. He wanted to show all the different feelings and ideas inside her mind. He changed the face structure of the infanata because he was trying to show the difficulty it was for her to balance her feelings, emotions, and ideas. The two paintings by the two different artists are very similar to each other, just as they are different. One of the main similarities are the princess, both of the paintings include the princess even though they look very different. They both also show how the princess is focused on the light. In velazquez painting she is looking at the light, while in Picasso s painting it shows the brighter colors to show the light. Both of the paintings have many different reasoning to why they made this
  • 8. Causes Of The Revolutionary War Causes of the Revolutionary War The relationship between Americans and British got tense right after the French Indian War in 1754, where British won, fighting on the side of the colonies, however, lost a lot of money. They decided to take advantage of the Americans and imposed the series of acts, such as Sugar Act of 1764 and Stamp Act of 1765, which was not well taken by colonists. Consequently, British desire to control the colonies and make a profit from them, by establishing taxes and laws, led the colonies to resist and turned into the Revolutionary War. To begin with, the lack of the money for the British troops led to setting the taxes and laws, such as Quartering Act of 1765. The main idea of that act was that colonists should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, five colonists were killed. Consequently, the governor ordered British troops to be removed from Boston. Eight soldiers were sent to trial for the murder. John Adams, a colonist, agreed to be an advocate for them. Only two of the accused were found guilty of manslaughter. The importance of the Boston massacre is that it showed the British desire to take the control over the colonists, and in their intention, they would be able to use the physical force against people. Since townspeople were actually killed, the colonial inhabitants got angry. Despite the fact that troops were removed, Boston Massacre gave colonists the idea, that if they would not obey the British, soldiers will use the weapons to control them. Further, the Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774. It was convened as a response to the Intolerable Acts of the same year. Colonists were enraged about the closure of the Boston s port. Fifty five delegates from twelve colonies were there, except for those from Georgia, which was dependent on the supplies from British. During the convention, the Declaration of Colonial Rights was adopted, which deprived British Parliament of the right to tax the colonies. In addition, Americans completely boycotted the trade with British, which included both exporting and importing of goods. The First Continental Congress gave colonists the confidence that working together they would be able to release the colonies

To start off, Brian s favourite colour is green. Thankfully I got to know more about him than just his favourite colour. Brian is definitely an extrovert. Feel free to include your own opinion, but be sure to justify it. Try to include an equal amount of information for the both sides. Use at least 500 words for your answer. For many years psychologists have been researching behaviour patterns from birth. This is where the Nature vs Nurture debate begins. Nativists believe that humans are born with various skills needed to survive, where as Empircist believe that humans acquire all or almost of all their behavioural traits from nurture . Some behaviours are innate, unlearned and instinctive. From the moment we are born there are instinctive motions that we do. An example of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were both encouraged to breast feed and having had daughters only a few months apart we shared the experience for a short period of time. My sister struggled, with my niece unable to latch onto her for several weeks. Feeding time soon became a very traumatic experience for both parties, however my daughter and I had a completely different experience. From the first feed we had success, it continued that way for many months. Later my sister learnt that her daughter had had colic , which is a condition in which an otherwise healthy baby cries or displays symptoms of distress frequently and for extended periods of time, without any discernible cause. With this information in mind, it left me wondering whether it in fact took my niece a longer period of time to learn how to breast feed, or if the natural motion was there but her colic condition prevented this from happening. Nurture, historically was referred to as the care given to children by their parents, with a mothers role being of particular importance. This term is now regarded as any environmental factor including external family, their peers, as well as extending influences such as media. BINNS (1965) demonstrated this experimentally. He studied babies less than 5 days old and found clear differences in a babies reactions to being suddenly disturbed. [ref1] (Ahrens 1954), stated that from the 2nd to the 7th month of

  • 12. Voltaire s Candide Essay Candide On November 21, 1694, Francois Marie Arouet, otherwise known as Voltaire, was born in Paris. The youngest of five, son to Francois and Marie Arouet, Voltaire grew up in a household that had come to know the pleasantries of upper class french society. Marie, his mother, had gained the family access to Louis XIV court through her realtives. Because of Voltaires priviledged lineage he was able to study under the Abbe de Chateaneuf, at the Louis le Grand Jesuit College in Paris. Voltaire spoke very highly of his Abbe in later years. After ten years at school, he was sent to study law in Paris under his fathers orders. Early the following year, 1715, Frances most famous absolutist monarch died and five year old ... The trumpets, fifes, oboes, drums and cannons produced a harmony whose equal was never heard in hell. (pg 22) Though Voltaire may not have had this personal experience, the story had been heard many times. Go to war fight and die for the power of a far off monarch. Candide may be simple, but he is not stuipid. Once he sees the equal attrocities caused by the Bulgars and enemy Avars he takes the opportunity, provided by chaos, to flee. Many of Voltaires writings are inclusive of the theme of wrongful war. In Charles XII, one of his earlier works, he addresses the lust for conquest and its consequences. At the age of eighteen, Charles XII had learned his talent for conquest and by the end of the book he had lost more than he had gained. While the media and press reported the alleged assaults, the attention seemed to focus on the public figure, and not the victim. The victim is never perceived the victim. It s very easy to draw conclusions or voice opinions about sexual assault and why victims wait so long to come forward looking from the outside in. Fluorescent spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through fluorescenceand fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of 358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow FRET. Introduction Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is emission. The light particles, photons, hit a fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013). Excitation occurs by the valence electrons of the molecule receiving energy and moving to a higher energy state from the ground state. The excited electrons will later return to the ground state because they

Whether it was the manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our predecessors. For this reason, we are unable to deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. In turn, the criminal justice system should promote the use behavioral profiling, a more effective alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests. There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists admit that ethnic profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no one has attempted to eradicate it until recently. This is because America s imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate until a couple of decades ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration. When you analyses the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation between the impact of ethnic profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In other words, as people become more scared the likelihood that they will perform or tolerate racial profiling increases. Software Development Methodologies For Software Engineering Software development methodologies A software development methodology in software engineering is a framework that is used to structure, plan, and control the process of developing an information system. A wide variety of such frameworks have evolved over the years, each with its own recognized strengths and weaknesses. One software developing methodology will not suit all projects requirements, and best suited should be chosen based on various technical, organizational, project and team considerations. Most methodologies share some combination of the following stages of software development: Analyzing the problem Market research Gathering requirements for the proposed business solution Plan and design the software based solution Implementation (coding) of the software Testing the software Deployment Maintenance and bug fixing. The goal of this section is to conduct overview of the most widely used software development methodologies. Waterfall methodology The traditional approach to software development can be illustrated through the waterfall model which is time tested and easy to understand. The waterfall model approaches software development in sequential manner, completing one activity before the other. It brakes up project in stages: requirement analysis, design, coding and testing, operation and maintenance (see fig. 1 below). This article articulates that a women s income drops by 20 to 40 percent as single motherbecause they do not have a male as a breadwinner for the family(Duffy and Mandell, 253). Females are more likely to experience this situation because if they do go into the work workforce they are payed less than men. The line of demarcation resolved any potential conflict, yet it failed to acknowledge the fifty million natives already established in the Americas. The pre Columbian natives living in the northern Peruvian coast had accidentally created an armour for their ridges. They would discard their mollusk shells which protected the ridges from erosion for nearly 4700 years and produced a vast corrugated landscape that is visible from space, says archaeologist Dan Sandweiss of the University of Maine, Orono, one of the paper s authors. This coincidental protection of the landscape, however, came to a quick end with the arrival of the conquistadors. The conquistadors decimated the population of the natives through war, disease, and violence, and there was no one left to build this protective layer for the ridges. So the ridges simply eroded and vanished. The research shows how the pre Columbian natives affected their land, protecting it from the winds and erosion, and also emphasizes the brutal actions of the

First the rise of wealth and consumerism meant that it was easier to conceptualise the individual at the centre of his/her destiny. And psychology, partly as a result of Seligman s own learned helplessness experiments, created theories which put the self directed individual at the centre of his or her own life. The rise of the self esteem movement From the late 1960s on self esteem became a fashionable and influential idea. One of the first exponents was a young psychology professor called Stanley Coopersmith from California. A more influential figure was Nathaniel Branden. Branden was a psychotherapist and devotee of the philosopher Ayn Rand. He has written countless books on self esteem and is considered the intellectual father of the self esteem movement. As we shall see in another section, Branden s work is sophisticated and his definition of self esteem, and notions of how it can be boosted, is a far cry from the exhortations to feel special that have come to characterise self esteem building exercises in American schools. Self esteem may simply have remained a psychological and philosophical concept, debated by academics, if it had not been taken up by politicians in California in the late 1980s. John Vasconcellos was a state assemblyman who believed that low self esteem was the cause of crime, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and

However, when a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is born there are predetermined aspects to their health and personality. Large biological differences makes environments that are beneficial to atypical children potentially harmful to children who have autism. Autism directly impacts socialization and learning aspects that come easy to children who do not possess autism. Thus, large amount of social services are used to adjust the child to their environment. Growing up in a ruralenvironment has many positive effects on an autistic child s mindset and wellbeing, but these positive effects can often be outweighed by the risks associated with living in such a sparsely populated area. Children who have autism require many aspects of life to be accommodated to their biological condition. One out of 68 people have been diagnosed with a form of ASD, and this number only continues to grow (Mello, Goldman, Urbano Hodapp 2016). Growing up with autism is not an easy feat. Thus, large family ties are needed to support the child. However, in rural environments this is not always possible. In rural environments families make $50,000 or less each year in 53.6% cases; while urban families made less than $50,000 in 35.6% cases. A struggle for economic stability creates stress in all households. Thus, the autistic children see at least one

  • 51. The Ten Plagues In The Book Of Exodus Exodus, the second book of the New International Version of the Bible, begins with the end of Joseph s generation. Exodus I:6, Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and become exceedingly numerous so that the land was filled with them. The new king of Egypt, who did not know Joseph, came into power. He declared to his people that the Israeliteshad become too plentiful and would eventually join their enemies in war, the king decided oppressive slave labor would keep their numbers slim. The opposite proved true; the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread further escalating the fear of the Egyptians who worked them ruthlessly in retaliation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to P, God was known to the patriarchs as El Shaddai, God Almighty (Gen 17:1, 35:11, 48:3) and only at Sinai revealed his true name, Yahweh. (JBC) The Ten Plagues occur from a major battle between Yahweh and the Pharaoh for the service of the Hebrews . Service, in both Hebr and Eng, means both work and worship. The redactor has skillfully arranged and augmented old traditions about seven plagues (cf. the seven in Pss 78:43 51; 105:26 36 and the fact that there are only seven plagues in J) into three triplets, and the climatic tenth plague is outside the series. (JBC) As the Israelites are initially given consent to leave, the actual route they took is discussed within the commentary, The best route for the people is not the Way of the Philistines the most direct, but guided by the fortress at Zilu but rather a route through the wilderness at the Sea of Reeds, a swampy area around Lake Balah. (JBC) The climactic battle in which the Egyptian army comes after the Israelites and Moses parted the sea, is conceived by each source differently. According to P, Moses divided the sea by the rod and Israel walked through on dry land, the waters being a wall to their right and left. When Israel got to the other side, Moses raised his hand and the walls of water crashed in on the Egyptian army, wiping them out. According to J, Yahweh the storm god drove back the sea long enough for Israel to cross in the night and then the sea returned to its wonted flow in the morning.

She has her own personal office computer, one in the children s room, and one in adult section of the gym. There is electronic and handwritten documentation. Each patient has a folder, which the OT brings with her to each session. This is the patient s chart. It has the patient s referral, evaluation, and any progress notes. The OT writes what they do in therapy on a piece of paper that includes how many repetitions the client does for each motion and at which bands/weights. The OT uses the computer some during the session, but she told me it was just for the easy parts. Afterwards, the OT writes the therapy session down
