Immigration Policy Of 1924
Immigration is the act of coming to a country of which one is not a native to, usually for permanent
residence. The immigration policy of the united states is very extensive and complicated. The
immigration policy has been disputed by many, those who agree with it and those who do not agree
with it. I for one disagree with the immigration policy ranging from Job displacement, all the way to
the border security, even the Pathway to Citizenship. In 1924 the original priority of border control
was to prevent terrorists and terrorists weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering
the United States, but due to the influx of many illegal aliens trying to escape to a new life, border
control has changed their priorities. Border control

A New Job At The Bay Harbor Yacht Club
This past summer, I landed a new job at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club. There are three restaurants that
were incorporated in the Yacht club; The Lange Center, Quarter Deck, and the Beach House. The
Beach House was where I worked at with two others. Together, we accomplished many things for
ourselves and the restaurant itself. In order to do that, we had certain unsaid rules that all three of us
abided by. At which I will bring up later on. Eventually, we became what you call an activity system.
If you do not know what an activity system is; it is groups of people doing work together, who have
common motives and processes to achieve those motives. That activity system turned us into a well
put together team just through the three months of summer. We had Karl, who was the boss/manager
of the kitchen and Josh who was the other person who ran the kitchen with me. Josh and I were not the
ones in charge but Karl always made sure that we had say in everything that happened because
ultimately, for three people to run a kitchen, you need to all agree on something. Between the three of
us, we made that place make the most members happy, and the most money throughout the summer
for the Yacht club. Not only because of how hard we worked to make sure people were satisfied but
because of how well we communicated with each other. Communication is key in every group to
succeed in their motives, especially for this activity system.
Specifically, I am going to look at the writing that we

Analysis Road Warrior
Analyzing the Road Warrior
The Road Warrior sequence when Max first arrives to Tire City is full of action, sound effects, music,
camera shots, wardrobe symbolisms, and survival instincts. The Road Warrior (George Miller, 1981). I
will be writing about the time that Max rescued a victim (Nathen) and returned him back to his tire
people located deep within the deserts. The scene will continue all the way up to when the refinery
people come to make a deal with the tire peoples. The movie is set in a time where a lack of resources
is desperately needed. The viewer could notice that people in this apocalyptic environment need
resources because of everyone desperately needing fuel. There is also a lot of scraps that are being
used to build towns, clothes, weapons, and cars. The people of this apocalyptic world are trying to
adapt to this environment using up any resource they can. Furthermore, I get a sense that the world
might have gone bad due to rioting, nuclear warfare, or global warming because of the town being all
the way in the dessert and the deprives of resources. These are extremely relatable to the problems
occurring in today s time. In conclusion, the environment is extremely harsh and the humane instinct
kicks in when people have the will to live which was shown within this scene.
Max had just rescued one of the tire people who was left to die by the refinery peoples. The victim
(Nathan) decided to make a deal to return him back to his people and Max will get fuel

Jane Goodall Accomplishments
Jane Goodall was a very successful Ethologists who studied the behavior of Tanzania Chimps. She
was born on April 3rd, 1934 and in London, England. Her father and mother were Mortimer Herbert
Morris Goodall and Margaret Myfanwe Joseph and she had one sister named Judith Goodall. In her
later years she got married to Derek Bryceson and had her son Hugo Eric Louis van Lawick.
Starting at a young age she had a fascination with taking note and sketching the animals she observed
in the wild. She also had a love for reading about animal behavior and zoology. In 1850 she received
her school certificate two years later she received a higher education. She had always dreamed of
going to africa so when she left school at age 28 she started to save up for her long awaited trip to
africa.
The beginning of her career all started due to her meeting the famous anthropologist Louis Leakey and
him inviting her to an anthropological dig. Later on she was sent to study Vervet monkeys who live on
an island in Lake Victoria. Leakey believed primates had an important role in evolution. Getting
research on chimpanzees wild behavior was very difficult for them because either the safari was
frightening and it was causing unnatural behavior or the researchers did not spend enough time
observing them in order to get enough knowledge on them. Leakey had faith ... Show more content on

Magnesium Supplementation Research Paper
Studies show that as many as half of all Americans do not consume enough magnesium. Magnesium
deficits have been tied to allergies, asthma, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, heart disease, muscle
cramps and other conditions.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Magnesium is an extremely important and valuable mineral, whose value for great health and
wellbeing is just now being recognized by conventional physicians.
Nearly, every function in the body requires magnesium for virtually all cellular functions. There is
protein molecule, organic compound, such as vitamin, for example, vitamin B12, and then a charged
mineral, such as copper, zinc, manganese and magnesium. Magnesium is a critical co factor in more
than 300 enzymatic reactions within the system.
In the United States, magnesium supplementation is dramatically under utilized by physicians and is
critical in patient care for both treatment and wellness. There are over 200 published clinical studies
documenting the need for magnesium.
More and more physicians are beginning to recognize the benefits of magnesium supplementation.

Leadership Communication Skills And Effective Leadership
Final Paper
Introduction
Michael Z. Hackman and Craig E. Johnson, co authors of Leadership Communication Skills (1995),
underline leadership as the influential connectivity between humans through the effective
understanding and application of symbols and behavior regulation (p. 428 429). Essentially, leadership
stands possible as motivating others through channels which lead to success, and is accomplished
through meaningful, strategic interaction. Effective leadership, while fundamentally requires technical
knowledge, motivates, develops, and guides others through adept social / people skills. At the core,
leadership is about two way interconnection with others both in self awareness of how language,
behaviors, and actions impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This collision of cultures and social norms stand unique from any in our past. Strong leaders have a
keen sense for connecting with, communicating, and behaving in a manner that allows the best of all
worlds to come forth and prosper. Alon Lisak, Miriam Erez, Yang Sui, and Cynthia Lee authors of The
positive role of global leaders in enhancing multicultural team innovation (2016) for the Journal of
International Business Studies highlight:
The global identity of a leader represents the leader s sense of belonging to and identification with
multicultural teams... leaders with high global identity convey a sense of inclusion and recognize team
cultural diversity to be an asset and therefore, they foster shared team innovation goals. (p. 656.
As an individual who has always been sensitive to the needs and hopes of others, while personally
having a potpourri of ethnic and humble blue collar genes in my family line, my results of a high score
in communicating across cultures stands affirmed by what others have expressed. To further develop
these skills, however, experience in an international assignment would expand and solidify these
capabilities.

Why School Curriculum Should Be A Multicultural Essay
Response to Prompt #1
From this week s reading of Teaching to Change the World, we learned of the demographic shift in
public education. I believe this change is happening for the better. Like many institutions in our
society, we must change with the times to meet the needs of the people we serve. School curriculum
should be something that is always evolving, for the simple fact that students who our public schools
are serving learn differently and at times, come with a different set of cultural norms and experiences
with them that may impact the way they learn.
My K 12 school experience was in an urban environment that was predominantly African American.
In my first three years of teaching my school demographic has been similar to my own school
experience. I believe curriculum should be multicultural in focus. For example, in my first teaching
position at a charter school on the North side of Columbu, OH, my school s population had an
overwhelming number of students from western and eastern Africa. The school represented the
demographic shift that was occurring on the northside of Columbus. First year teaching is already an
overwhelming experience, but add on not having any curriculum guidance and having to make
everything from scratch with limited resources made me think outside of the box. I was teaching
world history that year, my major focus of that year was making connections on how european
colonialism and exploitation of groups around the world have and still

The Concept Of Organizational Learning
Employing professionals and engaging them in organizational learning not only strengthens their
skills and mastery of their professions, but also creates a competitive advantage. Organizations do not
magically develop into learning organizations. As organizations mature over time, they often lose their
ability to be innovative as their structure and ways of thinking become set. Changes developed to
remedy problems more often than not become temporary only to re emerge in the future. In order to
create competitive advantage, organizations must learn faster than their competition and develop an
environment that is ready to respond to customer requirements. This paper defines the concept of
organizational learning and applies it to a real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In summary, a learning organization is one that cultivates an environment that supports learning,
places emphasis on learning practices and processes, and includes leaders who advocates, drives and
models continues learning. (Garvin, Edmondson, Gino, 2008) The Naval Station Weapons Center
(NSWC) Crane Division, Indiana, is a prime example of a learning organization. NSWC Crane
provides United States warfighters with engineering and total lifecycle support for many of their
strategic missions, electronic warfare and special missions systems. NSWC Crane employees are
some of the highest trained, educated and skilled professionals. NSWC Crane is the third largest
United States Naval base in the world. (Naval, 2016) NSWC Crane fosters an environment that
supports both formal and informal continuous learning. Learning begins for their employees on their
first working day. All new government employees are sent through a two week training course called
onboarding. This indoctrination course sets the tone for all new employees. During this intense
training employees are introduced to the myriad of learning opportunities offered to them, which will
allow them to grow and work on their own goals. One such program is the Defense Acquisition
University (DAU) Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Program. (DOD,
2016) This program is a process in which all acquisition workforce employees are required to be
certified in which ensures that its acquisition,

Halo Vs Call Of Duty Essay
Ah, video game debates, a wonderful thing when 2 gamers bond over videos games. which is better?
Which is worse? Its all fun talk until people bring up call of duty vs Halo.
The Call of Duty series vs the Halo series. People often argue that call of duty is better than halo
which is 100% false. Halo is a lot better than call of duty because call of duty makes the same game
over and over and people buy it because is the new call of duty. Thing is the company and publisher
that owns call of duty only makes it because of the money which they have stated before and people
who are into video games dislike that because it shows they do not care about the quality which is

of the best video games ever made based on my opinions because the game is just so well done and

for 3 years straight and its replayability is so great that you just can t get bored while playing it. Call
of duty 1 was absolutely terrible as the same goes for the two that follow, but then Modern Warfare

Royal Dutch and Shell
Background. Royal Dutch Shell Group is one of the world s largest oil corporations and one of the
largest companies in Europe. The company was created as a result of a merge between Netherlands
Royal Dutch and UK s Shell Corporation. The case looks at the issue of price differentials between
several equity listings in different markets from the perspective of investors seeking an arbitrage
opportunity. Royal Dutch trades more actively in the Netherlands and U.S. markets, whereas Shell
trades more actively in the United States. The result is that the Royal Dutch/Shell relative price moves
positively with the Netherlands and U.S. markets and negatively with the U.K. market. Structure. The

For a private investor there would be no difference in the tax treatment between the two investment
opportunities. However, pension funds have different tax treatments in each jurisdiction depending on
whether the investor bought Royal Dutch or Shell. In Exhibit 8 of the case study, Royal Dutch was
trading for $141.368 in Europe and $141.375 in New York (a 7 cent differential). Shell was trading for
$124.222 in Europe and $126.554 in New York (a $2.332 differential). These price differences exist
due to market inefficiencies; however, these differences are small. As shown in the last column of
Exhibit 11, these calculations render small estimates of the impact of these discrepancies. The
percentage would be approximately 1% of the company valuation. The impact of these differences is
calculated with the following formula: Avg. dividend for the group x Difference in tax treatment for
the two entities. Arbitrage. In economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a
price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize
upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. In this case, there is an
opportunity for arbitrage. One arbitrage transaction that could be utilized would be a buy / sell
transaction. An investor could liquidate his holdings of Royal Dutch and

Theme Of The One That Got Away
One of the fundamental themes in Zoë Wicomb s collection of short stories, The One that Got Away,
and that which this essay focuses on, is identity. Wicomb s short stories are interwoven with political
percepts, history and semiotics linking her two homes, Glasgow and Cape Town, as well as the
different stories, together through a extensive network of interconnected identities and settings (Driver
145). By the juxtaposing of settings in a single period of time, Wicomb creates a unique social and
domestic backdrop that reveals elements of the characters identity, and, inadvertently, elements of her
own life. Wicomb strategically makes use of historical and cultural references to produce intra textual
significance to allow the reader to engage in the text and deconstruct conventionalized ideas and
notions (Driver 146). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The name Fotheringay, introduced in the very first line of the story, is not only the surname of one of
the main characters, but a historical reference to Fotheringhay Castle, where Mary, Queen of the
Scots, was imprisoned (Mackie). The name of the castle, or the castle itself, may or may not be of
great significance to the author, but rather a manifest of Wicomb s diasporic experience as a South
African living in Scotland. Boy in the jute sack hood shows the importance of spaces as opposed to
intricate story lines, where Wicomb plays politics and culture against one another through juxtaposing
Grant s study and the garden, illustrating two seemingly different spaces that are loaded with politics
and history (Driver

Essay On Raising The Drinking Age
Whenever there is a social issue, the first thing that people want to do is find a way to fix the problem.
There are many causes and effects of underage drinking along with a few solutions. None of the
solutions are perfect. However, there are small steps that can be made to minimize the amount of
alcohol consumption in adolescents. One of these solutions is raising the drinking age. In 1984, the
drinking age was raised from 18 to 21 by the Drinking Age Act. This makes it illegal for anyone under
21 to purchase and publicly possess alcohol. A study, made by researchers from Boston University,
concluded that raising the drinking age has decreases the amount of drunk driving car crashes and
binge drinking. In 1999, New Zealand lowered their drinking age to 18, and studies showed a spike in
the amount of drunk driving accidents and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raising the cost of alcohol limits who buys it. Teens generally don t have a stable income and don t
have a lot of money, so when the price is high they can t necessarily afford it. When adolescents
cannot afford the alcohol, they are prevented from buying. This reduces who can and can t get a hold
of alcohol. In a report in Maryland, a dime a drink increase in alcohol tax would cause a 4.8 percent
decrease in the amount of alcohol consumed. The tax increase would also raise about $214 million for
the state and also prevent 15,000 cases of alcohol dependence a year ( Alcohol taxes can reduce,
2012). One study [reviewed] 72 papers and report [and] nearly all of which found an inverse
relationship between the tax or price of alcohol and measures of excessive drinking or alcohol related
health outcomes ( Alcohol taxes can reduce, 2012). The results finalized that raising the tax of alcohol

minors from getting a hold of a beer. However, it does control the consumption

Theme Of Love In A View From The Bridge
Love is a powerful motivator that most writers will touch upon in plays and novels. Miller uses the
many kinds of love to drive the major events of the plot of A View from the Bridge, and the different
kinds intertwine as the characters change and the play develops. The play opens with a family scene,
showing the love between Eddie, his wife Beatrice, and Catherine. Eddie is the proud head of the
household and is determined to keep the vow he promised [Catherine s] mother on her death bed ; to
keep Catherine safe, even though at times the others can see that they may be too much love for the
niece . This original family dynamic shows the happy life that could have been lead, and Miller
deliberately wrote this scene to let his audience see what has been lost by the end of the play; a tragic
end is only tragic if there was something to lose. This family love is vital to the way of life that the
people of Brooklyn lead, and it comes from the strong Italian family values and the ways they shape
the justice system, and in America this form of justice mixes with the state law as the residents settle
for half . It is this family love that brings Marco to America, as he is desperately searching for a way
for his family to escape the incredible poverty back in Sicily that leaves them to eat the sunshine .
Marco also brings his brother Rodolfo, who is crazy about New York . The brothers have an incredibly
strong bond, and Marco is willing to defend his brother to the death.

Visual Merchandising in Retail For this assignment I have been asked to describe how visual

Tesco Merchandising techniques In Tesco the merchandising techniques they use are: Senses. A
supermarket like Tesco would use this technique to try and bring more customers into the store by
using smell, sight, sound and taste. They would play music to try and attract people into the store, and
they would also have staff at the front of the store offering free samples to customers to try to try and

This technique influences customers to buy the products as they are usually by the tills and are
sometimes on special offer. Sales and discounts: Tesco uses this technique because it will influence
more people buy the product as it is cheaper. This is very appealing for the customer as it provides a
quick route for those who are shopping for bargains. This also keeps the customers looking at different
parts of the store as this link leads to the display of many of their products. Sales and discounts can
encourage so called trial and repeat purchases. Retailers can use special offers such as buy one get one
offers. Coupons are another way to encourage purchases by offering discounts on products. Free gifts
with purchase also encourage customers to purchase products and increase sales. Sales whether
advertised in the store, online, in newspapers or via some other medium will help get customers into
the store. Retailers can place sales signs in window displays as an incentive for customers to shop.

Capital Punishment In Canada
Capital punishment, within the Canadian context, has enjoyed a long and controversial history. First
enacted as a punishment for the act of murder, its use and subsequent abolition have been the source
of significant legislative debates that have contributed to a shift in penal philosophy. Moving away
from the principle of lex talionis, the Canadian government between 1957 and 1967 began to
commute death sentences across the nation. This desire to limit the use of capital punishment would
finally culminate in its removal form legislation in 1976. It is my opinion that Canada should not
return to the principles of lex talionis and reinstate capital punishment. For submission, I offer the
following arguments:

Justice, as properly understood within western legal tradition, must, as necessary condition, seek to
establish truth, ensure the protection of liberties and have in place procedural safeguards to ensure that
only those who are guilty of a crime are punished. While this may seem to be only an ideal in the
broadest sense justice cannot, and indeed must not, stray to far from these principles. Yes, it is
acknowledged that in some instances there will be individuals and cases that fall through the cracks
however, it is precisely for this reason that capital punishment must not be reinstated.
In the interest of justice that is reputable, it is my opinion that the reinstatement of capital punishment
poses to great of a risk as it relates to an innocent individual being sentenced to death. When this
unfortunate event occurs, the justice in its entirety is brought into question and is ill equipped to
provide sufficient remedies.

Opportunity: U.S. seafood market grew rapidly in recent years, and the biggest part of seafood sales is
fresh seafood, which is 54% of all seafood retail sales. The king crab of Phillips belongs to fresh
seafood, which means it has huge market potential. Customers tend to buy food that is easy cooked
and fresh, which is a feature of the king crab product. The IBSS is a nation wide trade show which
could attract a lot of exhibitors and attendance. Making use of this platform could help Phillips to
build its reputation and promote its products at the same time. Threat: Just because the IBSS could
attract a large amount of exhibitors, the competition during the trade show is fierce. Though there are
so many potential customers would appear at the trade show, how could Phillips beat the competitors

Sales Tax Errors
To error is human, and that fact is never so apparent than when dealing with taxes. Recently, several
states have publicized the most common sales tax management errors experienced by their residents in
an effort to help business owners comply with complicated sales tax laws.
Each state has its own rules when it comes to sales tax errors, but generally jail time is reserved for
those who willfully and knowingly report incorrect sales tax. However, it can be difficult for an
auditor to distinguish an innocent accident from intentionally dishonest bookkeeping. So, it is best to
catch the errors you can before an audit and document all your business in an easy to follow and
organized manner as to not incriminate yourself.

Technology can be a great help in this respect. Using a reliable sales tax software to manage rate
changes in real time can greatly reduce rate errors and lower your audit risk.
Incorrect Returns Filing: Return filing is one of the many hurdles of sales tax compliance. Many
jurisdictions penalize for late filing or incorrect forms or missed extension deadlines. To combat this
stay organized, know your filing information, and know your filing dates.
Failing to Register In The Correct Jurisdictions: Business are sometimes surprised by the fact that they
must register in the states where they do business. What they don t realize is that not registering is a
huge red flag to auditors that indicates fraudulent bookkeeping. Not only that but failure to register
can make a material difference for the business as well. For example, in Ohio registered companies are
only required to provide four years of documented transactions; for the unregistered, auditors need to

The owners did not allow the crew to touch anything, which was difficult for setting up lighting
equipment and necessary props. Deakins felt that balloon lights to light the interior would work the
best, however, the ceilings were very low and there was no room. These kinds of lights are also broad
sources that do not create the soft, selective wash that Roger Deakins was looking for. The chief
lighting technician of this crew, Chris Napolitano, had previously worked with Deakins on No
Country for Old Men and True Grit. He remembered a favourite lighting solution to the lighting
predicament and helped employ it for the shoot. This technique required clear, 60 watt globes to be put
into large ring lights that are fitted with forty to sixty standard, medium base sockets. They would then
install these light units around chandeliers that already exist in the mansion s ceilings. This technique
was the perfect solution to Deakins problem because it helped create a soft pool of light around the
existing fixtures and did not intrude on the space on the floor. Deakins wanted to shoot 360 degrees,
which required an empty floor, so this solution was the best approach. The only time Deakins brought
in floor lighting was to light the occasional

Analysis Of The Movie I Marry A Millionaire, Marilyn...
In How to Marry a Millionaire, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable play three young,
posh models who live together in a luxurious New York City apartment. The girls have but one
mission: marry a wealthy man no matter how old, boring, or ugly he may be. The film possesses a
certain comedic quality similar to that of the Three Stooges. Shatze Page, the central character played
by Lauren Bacall, appears to be the brains of the trio while the two other women are portrayed as dim
witted blondes who are simply following along with a scheme concocted by the seemingly ever stern
brunette. In fact, throughout the film the women are depicted as weak, simple, and generally inferior
to the men that they pursue. Their absolute goal in life is to impress men. They had no desire to
advance their careers or further their education, they simply wanted to marry a wealthy man and spend
their remaining days living in ignorant luxury. This could reflect the fact that many women were not
working at the time of production, most attended to the home and children full time. In 1953, only
25% of women in the country were working. Pola Debevoise, the character played by Marilyn
Monroe, requires glasses to see. She describes herself as blind as a bat without them. Yet, she spends a
large amount of the film bumping into walls and speaking to inanimate objects because she refuses to
wear them around men. The harsh censorship of the 1950s is glaringly apparent when states, men aren

Properties of Ammonium Compounds
All ammonium compounds, which contain an ammonium ion (NH4+) and a negative ion, are
thermally unstable. A. Discuss two ways that ammonium compounds decompose when they are
heated. What chemical reaction is involved in the thermal decomposition of ammonium persulfate?
The ammonium ion is known for exhibiting unique thermal decomposition reactions when heated
because there are a considerable number of stable crystalline salts of the ammonium ion [14798 03 9]
NH+4 (Clintern, 2007). Ammonium acetates emit toxic ammonia fumes when heated, while
ammonium bicarbonate decomposes below its melting point, dissociating into ammonia, carbon
dioxide, and water (Clintern, 2007). There are some ammonium salts, such as ammonium dichromate,
ammonium permanganate, ammonium nitrate, and ammonium nitrite, which undergo an oxidation
reduction reaction after being heated: (NH 4 ) 2 Cr 2 O 7 ( s ) Cr 2 O 3 ( s ) + 4H 2 O ( g ) + N 2 ( g )
In the case of ammonium persulfate, (NH4)2S2O8, it has been observed under laboratory conditions
that upon thermal decomposition ... ammonium persulfate can potentially generate NOx species upon

Taking a Closer Look at Interracial Realtionships Essay
It has long been said that only people of the same race should be allowed to date, marry, and
reproduce. Although everyone has their own opinion on the subject, there is honestly no right, or
wrong. In today s day and age the relationships held by people of different races are better accepted
than they were in earlier ages when people lived strictly by morals. Interracial relationships have
always been frowned upon for religious or moral reasons, but they should be treated with the same
respect as a relationship between the same races.
On a religious note, Genesis 3:20 says that Eve was the mother of all living. In other words, all

Raising a biracial child should be no different than raising an all white child. There are though some
different aspects of raising a biracial child such as cultural differences. An article written by Lori A.
Selke covers several issues that one might encounter while raising their biracial child. One issue
would be that your own child would have a different color skin leading some people to believe that
you adopted, rather than birthing the child yourself. Lori claims, Don t be surprised if you re assumed
to have adopted your child (Selke). Although biracial children are nothing new, they are still
somewhat of a taboo to society. Children from extremely different backgrounds may be confused as to
which one to follow and learn. The answer is simple, both. If a child had a white mother and a
Hispanic father it might be confusing as to what to teach the child, and in what language to teach it to
them in, Spanish or English? One thing is for certain, they are family, and that is the same in every
culture. Your child and family are outside the statistical norm. Don t cover that up (Selke). What Selke
is suggesting is that no matter the race of a child, they need to be loved just the same. Don t be
ashamed or your family just because it is a little different compared to others.
Interracial children have been born since the days in American when slavery took place. Many slave
owners would rape their slaves and conceive children with them. Some slave

Edward The Elder Research Paper
Very little is known about Edward the Elder s childhood. His exact birth is unknown, but some say it
was around 871 A.D. in Wessex. He was the son of King Alfred the Great and Ealhswith of Mercia.
He was educated at court and his father trained him to be a warrior. Edward the Elder was married 3
times and had fourteen children.
Edward the Elder became King in 899 A.D. when his father King Alfred died. He was crowned King
on June 8, 900 A.D. He reigned as King from 900 A.D. to 924 A.D. After King Alfred s death, a
rebellion broke out against Edward the Elder. His cousin Aethelwold did not support Edward as King
and he looked to The Norse Kingdom of York as an ally. Aethelwold and his allies attacked Mercia
and Wessex and he was killed at the Battle of Holme. Edward continued to expand his territory and
made peace with the north by 909 A.D. Along with Mercia, his armies raided the northwest the
following year. The West Saxons and the Mercians defeated the Northern Vikings. Edward the Elder
then focused on conquering the Danes. Along with his sister, Lady Aethelflaed of Mercia, Edward the
Elder continued to push the boundaries of Wessex and Mercia northward. They achieved this with a

Memorandum On Firearm Policies While Answering The Four...
This memo is to provide an institutional analysis of my memorandum on firearm policy while
answering the four main questions you provided. First, I will explain how I approached this problem
by using frameworks from class. Second, I will analyze how the audience shaped my proposal and
whether they are likely to accept what I have outlined. Third, I will explain why my proposal work
will achieve the desired outcome while analyzing the mechanisms I considered. Finally, I will provide
arguments as to why this is the right memo at the right time for the right people.
1. I ve used various frameworks from class to approach this issue. I applied concepts from Alinsky,
Cobb Elder, and lessons from Sinclair. I based my work on Alinsky theory of limited wins. My
objective is to gradually implement firearm control policies. In this case my policy was limited to
prevent criminal from purchasing firearms and documenting private firearm transactions. Even if this
policy is implemented, other issues such as mentally ill people and potential domestic terrorist having
access to all kinds of weapons, including assault rifles, will still loom society.
Alinsky argues that power is built through establishing and shaping an organization to reach policy
objectives (Sinclair 2016 Lecture 5, s52). In other words, power is the reason for being of
organizations (Alinsky 1971). As part of this assignment I assumed that I worked for an established

A Career In Law Enforcement

enforcement officers are given.
The history of law enforcement began long ago but it hasn t always been as regulated as we re used to
in today s society. A source says In ancient societies, there was no official law enforcement function

enforcement roles and responsibilities have evolved to the point that anyone entering a law

The Outbreak Of Wwi And World War II
The Outbreak of WWII World War II, a war that was fought globally to get revenge from each country
that Germany has lost from World War I, but this whole war was unexpected for any country. This

incidental part of Hitler s program? Adolf Hitler, Chancellor of Germany, overturned the democratic
government, created the Third Reich, persecuted millions, and ultimately led Germany and the world
into World War II (definition from the book). There were several objectives for Hitler, such as, the end
of Jewish race, taking over Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland, thus leading to a war globally again.
However, this war was an incidental part of his program, but Hitler was very enthused with war from
the experience of World War I. This essay will discuss about Nazi foreign policy, Hitler s ultimate
objectives, and if the war was essential or incidental. First of all, a foreign policy is a government s
policy relating to matters beyond its own jurisdiction, its usually relations with other nations and
international organizations. However, the Nazi foreign policy was mostly made up of two ideas, the
need for the space (Lebensraum) and race, Germany wanted to expand its nation and its living space.

this is called the Social Darwinism. Nazi foreign policy was a debate between politicians to

The Godfather Essay examples
The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the family.
Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business. When his father

lifestyle. When his older brother is murdered, Michael ascends to become the boss of the family, and

There are no special camera angles, with the exception of a few close ups. The camera remains
stationary. The meaning of the scene is inferred through the editing and the content. Coppola uses this
montage in order to give the audience an insight into Michael. He contrasts religion and murder in
order to show the complexity of Michael. The newly baptized baby is without sin, and Michael is his
guardian into life. Michael is extremely sinful; he has ordered murder as he is taking the godfather
vows. The use of religion and murder contrasted is representative of Michael himself. It is used to
show the mix of good and evil in him. In Hegel s dialectic, Michael is the synthesis, a twisted mix of
good and evil. The line between the two has become blurred for him. He claims to reject Satan yet he
commits the worst sin. He claims to believe in god, yet does not follow the tenets of religion. He is the
guardian of this child without sin, and he is full of sin.
Coppola chose to use a montage in this segment.
The hard cuts between such polar opposites as baptism and murder reflects on the contrasts in the
main character. Overall, Coppola used this segment to communicate how twisted Michael has become.
Michael can no longer distinguish between good and evil or right and wrong. He only evaluates his
actions on whether or not they help him. It also shows the changes he has made in the movie. The

Marxism and Communism Christian Communism
Introduction
Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled,
as well as a political philosophy and social movement that advocates and aims to create such a
society.Karl Marx, the father of communist thought, posited that communism would be the final stage
in society, which would be achieved through a proletarian revolution and only possible after a socialist
stage develops the productive forces, leading to a superabundance of goods and services.
Pure communism in the Marxian sense refers to a classless, stateless and oppression free society
where decisions on what to produce and what policies to pursue are made democratically, allowing
every member of society to participate in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other writers described by Marx as utopian socialists included Saint Simon.
In its modern form, communism grew out of the socialist movement of 19th century Europe.[citation
needed] As the Industrial Revolution advanced, socialist critics blamed capitalism for the misery of
the proletariat a new class of urban factory workers who labored under often hazardous conditions.
Foremost among these critics were the German philosopher Karl Marx and his associate Friedrich
Engels. In 1848, Marx and Engels offered a new definition of communism and popularized the term in
their famous pamphlet The Communist Manifesto.Engels, who lived in Manchester, observed the
organization of the Chartist movement (see History of British socialism), while Marx departed from
his university comrades to meet the proletariat in France and Germany.
Growth of modern communism
In the late 19th century, Russian Marxism developed a distinct character. The first major figure of
Russian Marxism was Georgi Plekhanov. Underlying the work of Plekhanov was the assumption that
Russia, less urbanized and industrialized than Western Europe, had many years to go before society

General Partner (Gp). If A Fund Is Created Then Obliviously
General Partner (GP)
If a fund is created then obliviously you need a person to manage it. This is done by General Partner
(GP). GP makes all decisions about the private equity fund and is also in charge of managing the fund
s portfolio. The portfolio will contains all of the fund s investments.
General partner is paid either by way of a management fee or it can be by way of compensation.
Management fee is a fixed percentage of total amount of the fund s capital. Generally this fee range
from 1% to 2% annually of the capital committed.
For example if Assets under management is 100bn than a 2% management fee would be $2bn. These
fees are utilised for admin purpose and to cover expense such as salaries, deal fees paid to investment

So GP contributed only 5% in the fund.
The GP agter receiving funds would invests all of the capital in acquiring companies. As few years
pass by, they exit all their portfolio companies for $2B total. The LPs get $ 860Mn back first that s
returning their capital. That leaves $1.14 B left, and it s divided up 80 / 20 between LPs and GP. So
the LPs get $ 912M and the GP gets $228M. So the GP invested $40M at the start, but gets back
$200M in profits. GP thus made a 5x return in this fund.
Sometimes carried interest is in form of equity.
Interest in a fund is allocated as shares. This interest is based on each Limited Partner s capital
contribution, with a certain percentage of these shares (which would be typically 20%) allocated to the
General Partner as carry. Carry shares more often than not have a multi year vesting period that tracks
investments made.
Equity carry is split between senior executives at the private equity firm. There are many flavors of
carried interest so doing an apples to apples comparison of two different carry packages is often
difficult.
Performance fees motivate the private equity firms to generate superior realized returns. These fees
are intended to align the interests of the general partner and its LPs.
Hurdle Rate
However, many PE firms allow this performance fee post Hurdle rate. So the General Partner will
receives the carry that is performance fee only when the fund generates profits above a certain

Structure Properties Of The Polymers
I. Concept Properties of the polymers are determined by the molecular structure that comprises these
polymers (Structure Property Relationships).
A precise conclusion of the properties can be obtained if we have exact information about its chemical
structure and the force that prevails between the atoms and the molecules (intermolecular and
intramolecular forces)
Structure of the polymer can be described at various levels. From the chemical structure (i.e. its
molecular formula) it can be determined which elements are present and in what ratio.
Properties that can be determined based on their chemical structure
i. From backbone Linearity, Flexibility, Strength, Oxidation stability, etc.
Examples:
C ¬ C: helps determine flexibility, Low barrier to torsion, but sensitive to chemical attack.
C = C: helps determine Stiffness, Higher Strength, and High barrier to torsion in solids.
Aromatic Rings: Helps determine rigidity in liquids, and higher strength in solids.
Aromatic Ladder: Helps determine Ultimate rigidity. Etc.
ii. From side groups Solubility, Crystallinity, Surface properties, Steric properties, Polar interaction
between same chain or different chains, etc.
Examples:
Hydrogen as side group
C H: Helps determine hydrophobic, sensitive to free radicals, insensitive to various chemicals. If side
group with backbone C C than determines minimum barrier to torsion, etc.
Alkyl groups as side units
Aryl groups as side units

My Life Changed For The Worst
I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other
year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every
summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting
him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get
them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody
expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic
was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day,
probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing
quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how
much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes

Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside
of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go

about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down

Athletes use substances before or during their performance to increase their ability (Marzilli 12 13).
Student athletes will use steroids to increase their strength for a better outcome in their competition.
Testosterone is a common hormone in the body that most athletes abuse (Marzilli 12). Testosterone is
produced naturally in the body of any animal ( Steroids in Sports ). It creates alertness and
aggressiveness to improve performance ( Steroids in Sports ). That is why early athletes used to take
some form of medication to boost the production of testosterone in their body. Both males and females
will consume steroids to increase testosterone in their body. Due to all the medical advantages that
steroids have to an individual, athletes use them to achieve and to sharpen their performance. Apart
from fatigue and letting athletes train for hours, steroids also act as a compound to lactic acid which
causes muscle pain during physical struggles ( Steroids in Sports ). Steroids also contain the hormones
that can increase quickly to recover from injuries ( Steroids in Sports ). Since steroids can increase
endurance levels several times, athletes find it simple to run faster and improve their performance in
sports. According to Gary Becker, performance enhancers, like steroids and other types of doping,

Candide, a Novel by Voltaire
Candide Essay Voltaire was a philosopher that many people would not forget. Candide lives in the
castle of Baron Thunderten Tronckh in Westphalia. The circumstances that Candide was born was that
he combined a true judgement with simplicity of spirit. Voltaire satirizes the optimism espoused by the
philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment. This was a story of a young man s adventure throughout
the world and had seen many evil and disasters. Throughout his journey, he sticks to the teachings that
Pangloss taught him, believing that, All is for the best in the best of all possible worlds. Though
Voltaire was no pessimist, he refused to believe that what happens is always for the best. Throughout
Candide s adventure, Candide was got tricked into joining the Bulgarian Army by these two
uniformed men which they use two different techniques into tricking him. The first technique that the
uniformed men was that they invited Candide out to dinner and the second technique that the
uniformed men was that they were complimenting on his height and that he was the perfect man of the

Essay on Tay-Sachs
Tay Sachs
Abstract
Tay Sachs is a disease caused by a mutation to the gene which codes for Hex A. Without Hex A, a cell
cannot degrade GM2 ganglioside into GM3 ganglioside. This results in a build up of ganglioside s in
lysosomes of neurons. The result is varying degrees of mental deterioration. New DNA based
screening is currently being developed to replace the enzyme based screening techniques that have
been used since 1969. This will not only speed up the diagnosis, but also allow for earlier detection of
Tay Sachs by using the parents genotypes.

Ganglioside
Fig. 1 Shows the action of Hex A cleaving the GalNAc off of the GM2 ganglioside and converting it
to the GM3 ganglioside. This is the blocked reaction in Tay Sachs disease. (GalNAc=N
acetylgalactosamine; Gal=Galactose; Glc=Glucose; Cer=Ceramide; NANA=Sialic Acid ) [ 6 ]
There is also a third protein required for GM2 ganglioside hydrolysis called the GM2 activator. It has
been demonstrated that the GM2 activator extracts ganglioside GM2 from micelles or liposomes and
forms a ganglioside activator complex. This complex is required for the Hex A enzymatic activity [ 4 ]

The GM2 gangliosidose
There are three forms of GM2 gangliosidoses associated with either of the three gene products
necessary for GM2 hydrolysis. Tay Sachs disease is caused by mutations in the HEXA gene which
affect the a subunit unique to Hex A. Patients with Tay Sachs disease retain the ability to produce

How Rock N Roll Changed America Essay
Rock n roll has played a major role in some known historical developments post World War 2. Music
plays a significant part in America s Cold War culture. Music gave us a sense of new technologies and
helped the world to prosper. It also is linked with African Americans living in the South. Music was
known for shaping the lives of the people during the 1950s and 1960s. Music was geared towards the
youth, race, ethnicity, gender and class. All Shook Up: How Rock n Roll Changed America by
Altschuler, Glenn C, tells us the story of the birth of rock and roll during the concrete years of 1955 to
1965. Altschuler gives us a overview of how rock n roll has an historical context. For two years the

The rise of rock n roll and the reception of it, in fact, can tell us a lot about the culture and values of
the United States in the 1950s. According to historians James Gilbert, there was a struggle throughout
the decade over the uses of popular culture to determine who would speak to what audience, and for
what purpose . At the center of that struggle, rock n roll unsettled a nation had been living in an age of
anxiety since 1945 (p.15). Altschuler talks about how music and race interlock with one another. Rock
had become a highly visible and contested arena for struggles over racial identity and cultural and
economic empowerment in the United States (p.35). Other chapters within the book state the battles
involving sexuality, generational conflicts, as well as other social issues. The author states ideas that
are somewhat problematic. For example, he states that there is a myth that rock n roll went into a lull
following the payola hearings (the practice of record promoters paying DJs or radio programmers to
play their labels songs) of 1959 and did not come about again until the arrival of the Beatles in 1964.
Rock n roll presented us with the emergence of a cultural phenomenon, which the book lays out for
us. Altschuler sees rock as a metaphor for integration, as the focal point for anxiety that cultural life in
the U.S. had become sexualized , a catalyst

Merce Cunningham
Before Cunningham was invited to join the Martha Graham Company in 1939, he had already
established himself as a gifted dancer and choreographer at Cornish School of Fine Arts in Seattle
America. The school witnessed the first three works created by Cunningham Unbalanced March
(1938), Jazz Epigram (1938) and Skinny Structures (1939). Unbalanced March signified the dawning
of Cunningham and Cage due to Cage being the class accompanist (Dance Detail Merce Cunningham
Trust, 2017). He spent several years touring, creating and performing lead roles with the Graham
company before opening his own company working collaboratively with his life partner and musician,
John Cage. Cunningham s used the method of chance during his choreographic process displayed ...

His divergence from typical dance technique has allowed for him to become a worldwide success
within the contemporary dance industry, however he does not label himself as a chorographer, but
instead as a realiser. He uses the term realizer rather than choreographer to describe himself. While
choreographer, he says, concerns on setting steps and movements into sequences, what he himself
does more concerned with ideas and concepts. (Bremser, M. and Sanders, L. 2011, 42) 1994 saw Bel s
first choreography take to the stage in a work entitled: Nom donné par l ateur, translating as Name
given by the author. His works really mirrored his abstract thought process and uniqueness. Working
with the language of movement he is able to preview minimalism on stage without compromising the
integrity of his intentions. The way in which he portrays his work to have a simultaneous link between
the choreography, performance quality and audience really evokes thought and question on a different
plane to which and audience has been subjected to before. One of the

Dubliners Concept Of Paralysis
Dubliners:the concept of paralysis
James Joyce was an Irish, modernist writer who wrote in a ground breaking style that was known for
its complexity and explicit content.1 Joyce was and is one of the most respected writers of the 20th
century. Among his works there is Dubliners, a collection of fifteen short stories, first published in
1914 , that is often reffered as one of the finest works ever written. This particular short story
collection had to be submitted 18 times to a total of 15 publishers before actually getting published.
I call the series Dubliners to betray the soul of that hemiplegia or paralysis which many consider a
city. 2
The main theme of the Dubliners short story collection is centered around the concept of paralysis . ...

The Father s death creates an atmosphere of silence, solemnity and stillness in which the young
narrator is captured. The narrator can be seen as being paralysed because of the control and influence
Father Flynn had over him.
It can be said that The Dead , the last story of the volume is the greatest story of all the stories in
Dubliners. The story sustains the paralysis theme of the whole short story collection volume through
the disfunctional relationships between the characters. The repetitive events present in this story also
contribute to the theme: the party is repeated year after year, Gabriel holds a speech, Freddy causes a
scandal and then they dance and sing. This repetitive and predictable party sets the characters in a state
of paralysis. The relationship between Gabriel and his wife is also paralysed. As Gabriel learns about
Gretta s former lover he has as epiphany: he will never truly know his wife. The fact that he cannot
compete with a dead person places him in a state of paralysis. He is saddened because another man
could once feel real love for Gretta, his wife, and he couldn t do it

Chipotle Vs Del Taco Research Paper
Chipotle vs. Del Taco Here are two restaurants that may make you become hungry when they come to
mind. One, Chipotle which some of you may know for their humongous burritos and classy, cozy
wooden tables. The other, Del Taco where their tacos are extremely crunchy and have convenient
hours. Some people may believe that since Chipotle and Del Taco are both Tex Mex restaurants that
they are similar but based on their menus, environment, and prices one can tell how they differ from
one another. The menus at both of these restaurants differ significantly. At Chipotle, people are given
four main food entrees to choose from: a burrito, a salad, a bowl or tacos. After deciding what entrée
they want, one gets to choose what ingredients they want on their meal. For example, say that Sarah
decided to get a bowl, now she can decide what type of meat, beans, rice, salsa etc. she wants on it. As
for Del Taco the menu is completely different, there are more options to choose from. There is
quesadillas, crunchy tacos, soft tacos, regular size burritos, and combo meals. Del Taco not only
serves Tex Mex food but they also bring an American flavor to their menu by also serving burgers and
fries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Chipotle, instead of ordering and then waiting for your food to be ready you tell the employees
want you want and they make the food in front of you while you are in line. There is no waiting, you
get your food at that moment and can leave or eat it there. Unlike most fast food restaurants Chipotle
doesn t have a drive thru and is only open eleven hours a day. As for Del Taco, it is completely
different. You can choose to get your food from either their twenty four hour drive thru or from a
cashier inside. Sadly at Del Taco you do have to wait for your food to be ready after ordering

Biblical Explanations Regarding A Global Flood
The biblical passages regarding the flood make it clear that it was global. Genesis 7:11 states that all
the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. Genesis 1:6 7
and 2:6 tell us that the pre flood environment was much different from that which we experience
today. Based on these and other biblical descriptions, it is reasonably speculated that at one time the
earth was covered by some kind of water canopy. This canopy could have been a vapor canopy, or it
might have consisted of rings, somewhat like Saturn s ice rings. This, in combination with a layer of
water underground, released upon the land (Genesis 2:6) would have resulted in a global flood. The
clearest verses that show the extent of the flood are Genesis 7:19 23. Regarding the waters, They rose
greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters
rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living thing that moved on
the earth perished birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all
mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Every living thing on
the face of the earth was wiped out; men and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

global, there would have been no need for an

Figurative Language In Under Milk Wood
We do not deliberately associate poetry and advertising as related concepts nor do we acknowledge
these mediums to be of equal significance. Universally, poetry is identified to be one of the greatest
accomplishments of the creative arts, attributable to the complex diction and manipulation of
figurative language presented in the nature of these literary works. Conversely, advertising is
measured as far from being an independent art it is frequently represented as abundant in deceptive
connotations to persuade a specific audience through the use of wheedling subject matter to promote a
product or company s commercial image. Despite that, it is advertising which surrounds us today
through modern day technology, while the presence of poetry ... Show more content on

Additionally, this is owing to the fact that the images have already been established by the commercial
and therefore, the aesthetics are easier to perceive. This commercial follows a filmic approach, where
the quiet, landscape of the city at night is delivered by Richard Burton s ominously articulated radio
performance of Dylan Thomas s play, Under Milk Wood and overlapped with a minimalistic and
hypnotising tune from the movie Solaris. The application of a poetic transcription and simplistic music
flawlessly accentuates the thrilling commercial spot. What makes this advertisement so individual
from others of its kind and so incredibly emotive is the use of visual language, in the absence of a
concrete script. Empty classrooms, bare roads, the scenes depicting the desolated surroundings would
expectantly evoke feelings of negativity. However, the dismal theme and subdued hues meets the
expected emotional response in relation to the impression that driving at night is liberating etc. In the
graphically prepossessing imagery of vast solitude, there is no apparent narrative; yet the tagline
resonates in our minds. This feeling of enlightenment is kindled, similar to poetry, where the aesthetics
and representations of specific ideologies involves audiences on an emotional

Five Walt Whitman poems. Metaphors, diction, syntax, form,...
Walt Whitman s poetry is relatively formless and his random patterns have a significant effect on the
meaning evoked from the poems. Whitman has a constant theme of the link between nature/natural
experience and humans. He expresses his emotions and opinions through his poems. Some of his
poems are very personable, which makes them very easier to understand and more enjoyable to read.
Crossing Brooklyn Ferry is a poem about the sharing of experiences. All humans are somehow
connected through the common experiences they encounter. It has no rhyme scheme or form and it is

Active Hope By Joan Macy Quotes
Active Hope, written by Joan Macy, is an interesting read that discusses many topics regarding social
and environmental change in the modern world. Joan Macy employs many ideas to engage the reader
into her point of view and outlines the book in a very different way that distinguishes it from other
books.
(Quote 1) To begin with Reflecting on Success on page 226; this part of the book inspired me. Her
quote If the change we want doesn t happen in our lifetime, does that mean we will never experience
success? For the encouraging boost we get when we know we re moving forward, we need to find
markers of progress we can spot more easily and often. Not only is this quote important but it can be
relevant to many things we live through and foresee daily. For example, if one is trying to achieve a
certain fitness goal, it is not the brightest outlook to just select a very far fetched goal and not track
small points of progress beforehand. In fact, if one was to do such a thing, it would be rather
challenging since frustration and injury would occur before one could even see any results since the
results are not being analyzed closely enough. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without closely analyzing certain key points, success is rather construed to be a challenging task.
Personally, if I was to complete a task at hand, it is best to try to tackle the task through breaking it
down into small goals. Whether it is an essay I am writing or a 2 mile run, it is important to recognize
this relativity. I think if we can apply this to the issues and problems within the world of
environmentalism, then hope and change as Macy believes will occur, however, on a relatively
microscopic scale not foreseeable with the human

On the other hand, if the multipath scattering is adequate, then the numerous sub streams are all
scattered marginally in an unexpected way, since they start from diverse transmit receiving antennas
that are situated at different points. By utilizing modern sign preparing, these slight contrasts in
scrambling permit the sub streams to be distinguished and recouped. As a result, the unavoidable
multipath is abused to give an extremely valuable spatial parallelism that is utilized to significantly
enhance data transmission rates.
b. Array Architecture Massive MIMO demands uniquely large base station arrays. Challenge was to
transporting signals between the source and the antenna. Any array architecture requires partitioning
the transceiver functions into those implemented close to the respective antennas and those

The Lord Of Pop By Michael Jackson
At the point when one considers fanciful specialists, it would shock no one that the names of
Beethoven and Michael Jackson would emerge in the discussion. On one hand, you have the Lord of
Pop , who is most generally known for his commitments to contemporary music and move
everywhere throughout the world. While, on the other, you have an expert arranger and musician; a
musical wonder from a youthful age. Both were masters in their privilege. In this paper, we will make
an examination of two individual pieces particular to both men and the effect they had upon society on
a more general level.
It starts with the fundamental topic, a straightforward serious song played sweetly above arpeggiated

In itself, the idea presented was touted as a fine tune. Disco music has what topped the outlines amid
the 80s. Keeping in mind the end goal to defeat this powerful society wave, Quincy had unequivocally
recommended making another harmony in the middle of R B and pop, disco and shake, and funk and
songs.
Backtracking almost over a century, we now have Ludwig van Beethoven and his magnum opus, Für
Elise. In 1810, when Beethoven was 40 years of age and right now broadly known as one of the best
authors ever, he made For Elise. It is still speculated as to whom this piece was made in honor out of,
yet in any case it doesn t melt away on the current level of sythesis. Written in A minor for solo piano,
Für Elise is named a bagatelle. These are short bits of music, commonly for the piano, and typically
light and smooth in character. In prior periods, the bagatelle had likewise been composed for an
assortment of instrument arrangements, yet by and large they are heard as solo piano exhibitions. In
reality, the score was not distributed until 1867, 40 years after the passing of the writer. It is presently
realized that analyst; Ludwig Nohl guaranteed to have seen this devotion on the first signed an
original copy, which had after been missing. In this way, the adaptation of Für Elise we listen to the
present day is the prior rendition

  • 2. Immigration Policy Of 1924 Immigration is the act of coming to a country of which one is not a native to, usually for permanent residence. The immigration policy of the united states is very extensive and complicated. The immigration policy has been disputed by many, those who agree with it and those who do not agree with it. I for one disagree with the immigration policy ranging from Job displacement, all the way to the border security, even the Pathway to Citizenship. In 1924 the original priority of border control was to prevent terrorists and terrorists weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering the United States, but due to the influx of many illegal aliens trying to escape to a new life, border control has changed their priorities. • 3. A New Job At The Bay Harbor Yacht Club This past summer, I landed a new job at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club. There are three restaurants that were incorporated in the Yacht club; The Lange Center, Quarter Deck, and the Beach House. The Beach House was where I worked at with two others. Together, we accomplished many things for ourselves and the restaurant itself. In order to do that, we had certain unsaid rules that all three of us abided by. At which I will bring up later on. Eventually, we became what you call an activity system. If you do not know what an activity system is; it is groups of people doing work together, who have common motives and processes to achieve those motives. That activity system turned us into a well put together team just through the three months of summer. We had Karl, who was the boss/manager of the kitchen and Josh who was the other person who ran the kitchen with me. Josh and I were not the ones in charge but Karl always made sure that we had say in everything that happened because ultimately, for three people to run a kitchen, you need to all agree on something. Between the three of us, we made that place make the most members happy, and the most money throughout the summer for the Yacht club. Not only because of how hard we worked to make sure people were satisfied but because of how well we communicated with each other. Communication is key in every group to succeed in their motives, especially for this activity system. Specifically, I am going to look at the writing that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Road Warrior Analyzing the Road Warrior The Road Warrior sequence when Max first arrives to Tire City is full of action, sound effects, music, camera shots, wardrobe symbolisms, and survival instincts. The Road Warrior (George Miller, 1981). I will be writing about the time that Max rescued a victim (Nathen) and returned him back to his tire people located deep within the deserts. The scene will continue all the way up to when the refinery people come to make a deal with the tire peoples. The movie is set in a time where a lack of resources is desperately needed. The viewer could notice that people in this apocalyptic environment need resources because of everyone desperately needing fuel. There is also a lot of scraps that are being used to build towns, clothes, weapons, and cars. The people of this apocalyptic world are trying to adapt to this environment using up any resource they can. Furthermore, I get a sense that the world might have gone bad due to rioting, nuclear warfare, or global warming because of the town being all the way in the dessert and the deprives of resources. These are extremely relatable to the problems occurring in today s time. In conclusion, the environment is extremely harsh and the humane instinct kicks in when people have the will to live which was shown within this scene. Max had just rescued one of the tire people who was left to die by the refinery peoples. The victim (Nathan) decided to make a deal to return him back to his people and Max will get fuel ... Johnson, co authors of Leadership Communication Skills (1995), underline leadership as the influential connectivity between humans through the effective understanding and application of symbols and behavior regulation (p. 428 429). Essentially, leadership stands possible as motivating others through channels which lead to success, and is accomplished through meaningful, strategic interaction. • 8. Why School Curriculum Should Be A Multicultural Essay Response to Prompt #1 From this week s reading of Teaching to Change the World, we learned of the demographic shift in public education. I believe this change is happening for the better. Like many institutions in our society, we must change with the times to meet the needs of the people we serve. School curriculum should be something that is always evolving, for the simple fact that students who our public schools are serving learn differently and at times, come with a different set of cultural norms and experiences with them that may impact the way they learn. My K 12 school experience was in an urban environment that was predominantly African American. In my first three years of teaching my school demographic has been similar to my own school experience. I believe curriculum should be multicultural in focus. For example, in my first teaching position at a charter school on the North side of Columbu, OH, my school s population had an overwhelming number of students from western and eastern Africa. The school represented the demographic shift that was occurring on the northside of Columbus. First year teaching is already an overwhelming experience, but add on not having any curriculum guidance and having to make everything from scratch with limited resources made me think outside of the box. I was teaching world history that year, my major focus of that year was making connections on how european colonialism and exploitation of groups around the world have and still ... • 12. Theme Of The One That Got Away One of the fundamental themes in Zoë Wicomb s collection of short stories, The One that Got Away, and that which this essay focuses on, is identity. Wicomb s short stories are interwoven with political percepts, history and semiotics linking her two homes, Glasgow and Cape Town, as well as the different stories, together through a extensive network of interconnected identities and settings (Driver 145). By the juxtaposing of settings in a single period of time, Wicomb creates a unique social and domestic backdrop that reveals elements of the characters identity, and, inadvertently, elements of her own life. There are many causes and effects of underage drinking along with a few solutions. None of the solutions are perfect. • 15. Theme Of Love In A View From The Bridge Love is a powerful motivator that most writers will touch upon in plays and novels. Miller uses the many kinds of love to drive the major events of the plot of A View from the Bridge, and the different kinds intertwine as the characters change and the play develops. The play opens with a family scene, showing the love between Eddie, his wife Beatrice, and Catherine. Eddie is the proud head of the household and is determined to keep the vow he promised [Catherine s] mother on her death bed ; to keep Catherine safe, even though at times the others can see that they may be too much love for the niece . This original family dynamic shows the happy life that could have been lead, and Miller deliberately wrote this scene to let his audience see what has been lost by the end of the play; a tragic end is only tragic if there was something to lose. This family love is vital to the way of life that the people of Brooklyn lead, and it comes from the strong Italian family values and the ways they shape the justice system, and in America this form of justice mixes with the state law as the residents settle for half . It is this family love that brings Marco to America, as he is desperately searching for a way for his family to escape the incredible poverty back in Sicily that leaves them to eat the sunshine . Marco also brings his brother Rodolfo, who is crazy about New York . The brothers have an incredibly strong bond, and Marco is willing to defend his brother to the death. ... The outside of Azalea s house was just as nice as the inside. She had a miniature garden and a spiffy, wooden patio. Tall, old, oak trees were all around Azalea s house; they swayed in a mysterious rhythm. Now what tree could it be? Madeline, asked the group. Let s try the massive one at the top of the hill. Azalea, proclaimed. It was a hike, but the kids reached the top of the hill. When they reached the massive oak tree Azalea noticed a door. The door had a keyhole. Put the key, Put the key, Brad yelled! Don t rush me. Are you guys sure of this? Azalea asked her friends. I mean this could be risky. Everyone just stood there and looked at each other for a second. We re sure, piped Max. Just like Peanut Butter and Jelly, we ll all stick together. Ok, you guys here goes nothing. The chief lighting technician of this crew, Chris Napolitano, had previously worked with Deakins on No Country for Old Men and True Grit. He remembered a favourite lighting solution to the lighting predicament and helped employ it for the shoot. This technique required clear, 60 watt globes to be put into large ring lights that are fitted with forty to sixty standard, medium base sockets. They would then install these light units around chandeliers that already exist in the mansion s ceilings. This technique was the perfect solution to Deakins problem because it helped create a soft pool of light around the existing fixtures and did not intrude on the space on the floor. Deakins wanted to shoot 360 degrees, which required an empty floor, so this solution was the best approach. The only time Deakins brought in floor lighting was to light the occasional ... In How to Marry a Millionaire, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable play three young, posh models who live together in a luxurious New York City apartment. The girls have but one mission: marry a wealthy man no matter how old, boring, or ugly he may be. The film possesses a certain comedic quality similar to that of the Three Stooges. Shatze Page, the central character played by Lauren Bacall, appears to be the brains of the trio while the two other women are portrayed as dim witted blondes who are simply following along with a scheme concocted by the seemingly ever stern brunette. In fact, throughout the film the women are depicted as weak, simple, and generally inferior to the men that they pursue. Their absolute goal in life is to impress men. They had no desire to advance their careers or further their education, they simply wanted to marry a wealthy man and spend their remaining days living in ignorant luxury. This could reflect the fact that many women were not working at the time of production, most attended to the home and children full time. In 1953, only 25% of women in the country were working. Pola Debevoise, the character played by Marilyn Monroe, requires glasses to see. She describes herself as blind as a bat without them. Discuss two ways that ammonium compounds decompose when they are heated. What chemical reaction is involved in the thermal decomposition of ammonium persulfate? The ammonium ion is known for exhibiting unique thermal decomposition reactions when heated because there are a considerable number of stable crystalline salts of the ammonium ion [14798 03 9] NH+4 (Clintern, 2007). Ammonium acetates emit toxic ammonia fumes when heated, while ammonium bicarbonate decomposes below its melting point, dissociating into ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water (Clintern, 2007). There are some ammonium salts, such as ammonium dichromate, ammonium permanganate, ammonium nitrate, and ammonium nitrite, which undergo an oxidation reduction reaction after being heated: (NH 4 ) 2 Cr 2 O 7 ( s ) Cr 2 O 3 ( s ) + 4H 2 O ( g ) + N 2 ( g ) In the case of ammonium persulfate, (NH4)2S2O8, it has been observed under laboratory conditions that upon thermal decomposition ... ammonium persulfate can potentially generate NOx species upon thermal decomposition (UNEP Publications, 2005). Finally, I will provide arguments as to why this is the right memo at the right time for the right people. 1. I ve used various frameworks from class to approach this issue. I applied concepts from Alinsky, Cobb Elder, and lessons from Sinclair. I based my work on Alinsky theory of limited wins. My objective is to gradually implement firearm control policies. In this case my policy was limited to prevent criminal from purchasing firearms and documenting private firearm transactions. Even if this policy is implemented, other issues such as mentally ill people and potential domestic terrorist having access to all kinds of weapons, including assault rifles, will still loom society. Alinsky argues that power is built through establishing and shaping an organization to reach policy objectives (Sinclair 2016 Lecture 5, s52). • 41. How Rock N Roll Changed America Essay Rock n roll has played a major role in some known historical developments post World War 2. Music plays a significant part in America s Cold War culture. Music gave us a sense of new technologies and helped the world to prosper. It also is linked with African Americans living in the South. Music was known for shaping the lives of the people during the 1950s and 1960s. Music was geared towards the youth, race, ethnicity, gender and class. All Shook Up: How Rock n Roll Changed America by Altschuler, Glenn C, tells us the story of the birth of rock and roll during the concrete years of 1955 to 1965. The rise of rock n roll and the reception of it, in fact, can tell us a lot about the culture and values of the United States in the 1950s. According to historians James Gilbert, there was a struggle throughout the decade over the uses of popular culture to determine who would speak to what audience, and for what purpose . At the center of that struggle, rock n roll unsettled a nation had been living in an age of anxiety since 1945 (p.15). Altschuler talks about how music and race interlock with one another. Rock had become a highly visible and contested arena for struggles over racial identity and cultural and economic empowerment in the United States (p.35). Other chapters within the book state the battles involving sexuality, generational conflicts, as well as other social issues. The author states ideas that are somewhat problematic. For example, he states that there is a myth that rock n roll went into a lull following the payola hearings (the practice of record promoters paying DJs or radio programmers to play their labels songs) of 1959 and did not come about again until the arrival of the Beatles in 1964. Rock n roll presented us with the emergence of a cultural phenomenon, which the book lays out for us. Altschuler sees rock as a metaphor for integration, as the focal point for anxiety that cultural life in the U.S. had become sexualized , a catalyst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merce Cunningham Before Cunningham was invited to join the Martha Graham Company in 1939, he had already established himself as a gifted dancer and choreographer at Cornish School of Fine Arts in Seattle America. Dubliners Concept Of Paralysis Dubliners:the concept of paralysis James Joyce was an Irish, modernist writer who wrote in a ground breaking style that was known for its complexity and explicit content.1 Joyce was and is one of the most respected writers of the 20th century. Among his works there is Dubliners, a collection of fifteen short stories, first published in 1914 , that is often reffered as one of the finest works ever written. This particular short story collection had to be submitted 18 times to a total of 15 publishers before actually getting published. I call the series Dubliners to betray the soul of that hemiplegia or paralysis which many consider a city. 2 The main theme of the Dubliners short story collection is centered around the concept of paralysis . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Father s death creates an atmosphere of silence, solemnity and stillness in which the young narrator is captured. The narrator can be seen as being paralysed because of the control and influence Father Flynn had over him. It can be said that The Dead , the last story of the volume is the greatest story of all the stories in Dubliners. The story sustains the paralysis theme of the whole short story collection volume through the disfunctional relationships between the characters. The repetitive events present in this story also contribute to the theme: the party is repeated year after year, Gabriel holds a speech, Freddy causes a scandal and then they dance and sing. This repetitive and predictable party sets the characters in a state of paralysis. The relationship between Gabriel and his wife is also paralysed. As Gabriel learns about Gretta s former lover he has as epiphany: he will never truly know his wife. The fact that he cannot compete with a dead person places him in a state of paralysis. He is saddened because another man could once feel real love for Gretta, his wife, and he couldn t do it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Chipotle Vs Del Taco Research Paper Chipotle vs. Del Taco Here are two restaurants that may make you become hungry when they come to mind. One, Chipotle which some of you may know for their humongous burritos and classy, cozy wooden tables. The other, Del Taco where their tacos are extremely crunchy and have convenient hours. Some people may believe that since Chipotle and Del Taco are both Tex Mex restaurants that they are similar but based on their menus, environment, and prices one can tell how they differ from one another. The menus at both of these restaurants differ significantly. At Chipotle, people are given four main food entrees to choose from: a burrito, a salad, a bowl or tacos. After deciding what entrée they want, one gets to choose what ingredients they want on their meal. For example, say that Sarah decided to get a bowl, now she can decide what type of meat, beans, rice, salsa etc. she wants on it. As for Del Taco the menu is completely different, there are more options to choose from. There is quesadillas, crunchy tacos, soft tacos, regular size burritos, and combo meals. • 45. Biblical Explanations Regarding A Global Flood The biblical passages regarding the flood make it clear that it was global. Genesis 7:11 states that all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. Genesis 1:6 7 and 2:6 tell us that the pre flood environment was much different from that which we experience today. Based on these and other biblical descriptions, it is reasonably speculated that at one time the earth was covered by some kind of water canopy. This canopy could have been a vapor canopy, or it might have consisted of rings, somewhat like Saturn s ice rings. This, in combination with a layer of water underground, released upon the land (Genesis 2:6) would have resulted in a global flood. The clearest verses that show the extent of the flood are Genesis 7:19 23. Regarding the waters, They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living thing that moved on the earth perished birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. Universally, poetry is identified to be one of the greatest accomplishments of the creative arts, attributable to the complex diction and manipulation of figurative language presented in the nature of these literary works. Conversely, advertising is measured as far from being an independent art it is frequently represented as abundant in deceptive connotations to persuade a specific audience through the use of wheedling subject matter to promote a product or company s commercial image. Additionally, this is owing to the fact that the images have already been established by the commercial and therefore, the aesthetics are easier to perceive. This commercial follows a filmic approach, where the quiet, landscape of the city at night is delivered by Richard Burton s ominously articulated radio performance of Dylan Thomas s play, Under Milk Wood and overlapped with a minimalistic and hypnotising tune from the movie Solaris. The application of a poetic transcription and simplistic music flawlessly accentuates the thrilling commercial spot. What makes this advertisement so individual from others of its kind and so incredibly emotive is the use of visual language, in the absence of a concrete script. Empty classrooms, bare roads, the scenes depicting the desolated surroundings would expectantly evoke feelings of negativity. However, the dismal theme and subdued hues meets the expected emotional response in relation to the impression that driving at night is liberating etc. In the graphically prepossessing imagery of vast solitude, there is no apparent narrative; yet the tagline resonates in our minds. Walt Whitman s poetry is relatively formless and his random patterns have a significant effect on the meaning evoked from the poems. Whitman has a constant theme of the link between nature/natural experience and humans. He expresses his emotions and opinions through his poems. Some of his poems are very personable, which makes them very easier to understand and more enjoyable to read. Crossing Brooklyn Ferry is a poem about the sharing of experiences. Joan Macy employs many ideas to engage the reader into her point of view and outlines the book in a very different way that distinguishes it from other books. (Quote 1) To begin with Reflecting on Success on page 226; this part of the book inspired me. Her quote If the change we want doesn t happen in our lifetime, does that mean we will never experience success? For the encouraging boost we get when we know we re moving forward, we need to find markers of progress we can spot more easily and often. Not only is this quote important but it can be relevant to many things we live through and foresee daily. For example, if one is trying to achieve a certain fitness goal, it is not the brightest outlook to just select a very far fetched goal and not track small points of progress beforehand. In fact, if one was to do such a thing, it would be rather challenging since frustration and injury would occur before one could even see any results since the results are not being analyzed closely enough. ...
