Greek literature has been known to utilize dramatic irony, which allows the character s motives clear
to the audience although unknown to the main character itself. Sophocles introduces the Greek tragedy
Oedipus the King using this literary technique moving on to develop the concept of blindness and
sight. In fact, this text deals with the idea of blindness and sight revealed by a character both literally
and figuratively. The play introduces the Greek city state called Thebes, which is suffering a great
plague causing the state to fall apart. A prophecy has been set to recover the plaque by which King
Oedipus must find the killer of Laius, his predecessor. Throughout the play, Sophocles displays an
overarching question of which characters are considered blind, one who remains blind and ignorant to
the truth or one who is depleted of sight embracing the certainty of the circumstances. Based on
Oedipus s motivations, character development, and interactions over the course of the play, Sophocles
develops the theme that when power and ignorance camouflage the truth, agony and despair will
follow as the truth unfolds.

The Little Albert Experiment In 1920, behaviorist John B. Watson and his graduate student Rosalie
Rayner wanted to study classical conditioning in people. Classical conditioning is when two stimuli
are paired and produce an effect off of the second stimulus, but eventually produce the same effect
with the first stimulus individually. Watson believed they were capable of furthering psychologist Ivan
Pavlov s research on conditioning dogs to conditioning humans. Watson was a professor at John
Hopkins University and of course, that was Rayner s alma mater. Watson wanted to justify that
emotions were something learned and not inherently placed in the human mind. According to
Alexander Burgemeester, Watson hypothesized that although it was uncommon for a baby to have a
phobia of animals, if one animal succeeds in arousing fear, any moving furry animal thereafter may
arouse it (Burgemeester). Both, Watson and Rayner fed off of scientist Ivan Pavlov s classical
conditioning experiment. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist who is famously known for his classical
conditioning experiment on dogs, better known as Pavlov s Dogs. Pavlov originated classical
conditioning unintentionally (McLeod). His experiment consisted of a dog, its saliva glands, dog food,
and a bell. Pavlov noticed that dogs had natural reflexes and wanted to point out that they did not need
to be taught certain things (McLeod). The dog s saliva glands were the main implements while

Most reform schools failed to changed problematic behaviors of youths. But the more wealthy and
influential families in Chicago sought to do something about this problem to gain the loyalty of the
poor families. These families feared doing nothing will only bring social unrest which will ultimately

emerged to push a juvenile justice system. The injustice of the current court system was that children

selected Agriculture, Architecture, Religion, and Trade as our categories to analyze the relationship
between American southwest and Mesoamerica. Fair trade, we will focus on scarlet macaws and how
it got traded from Mesoamerica in the American southwest and its significance. For architecture, we
will compare the ball courts of Hohokam and that of Mesoamerica. Significance of ball courts and
how it got introduced into the American southwest from Mesoamerica will be discussed as well.
Religion will be analyzed by focusing on the cosmological beliefs of both groups and the similarities
and differences between Mesoamerican cosmology and American southwest cosmology.

psychotherapy integration, the common factors approach, theoretical, assimilative, systematic
eclecticism, and the unified approach. Each type of psychotherapy has its own uniqueness and hold
value in the sense of providing positive outcomes for clients in psychotherapy. One approach is the
common factors approach. The common factors approach (CF) conceptualizes psychotherapy as a
socially constructed and mediated healing practice (Frank Frank, 1993). The focus of the CF approach
is improving practice outcomes and therapist competence (Laska, Gurman, Wampold, 2014a). A
second type of psychotherapy integration is the cyclical psychodynamic therapy.
Theoretical Perspective

On November 2, 2015, I went to my psych clinical at BHH. I was assigned to the adolescent floor for
the second time this semester. I was eager to go back on this floor because I found it very interesting
the last time I was there. I got the opportunity to go to breakfast with the adolescent patients. I initially
thought that they would not want to talk to me, just because I was in my white attire. It took the
patients more than half the time to warm up and start to feel more comfortable talking to us. A lot of
the patients wanted to know what college was like, if it was hard, and is it expensive. They became
very talkative and wanted us to know what their plans were when they got out of this department.
