Introduction
We will be exploring and providing insight into the structure of the 82nd Airborne Division. The
time frame that we will be analyzing for will be 1940 1945. The reason that I chose this time frame
was because it heavily influenced the structure, tactics and methods of employment of an
experimental fighting formation in the United States Army. We will explore the organization using

After the Airborne operation in support of the beach landings in Sicily on D day resulted in
Paratroopers and units being spread across a hundreds of miles as well as multiple aircraft being
shot down by friendly forces. Many of the senior leaders were applying vertical thinking, calling
for the scraping the 82nd and sending its personnel out to reinforce their ground forces on the
front lines. The leaders of the division utilized a problem solving model. Whetten and Cameron?s
(2014) problem solving model consists of four steps; define, generate solutions, evaluate those
solutions, and then follow up and refine (p.175). James Gavin defined the problem on D day as
aircraft becoming disoriented preventing the accurate delivery of Paratroopers. He then generated
solutions with the Air Force pilots and his fellow Paratroopers. After they evaluated the solutions
they selected the one that all thought would the best fix to the issue. The final solution was that
they would develop Pathfinder units that would be dropped anywhere from 24 to 48 hours prior to
the units airborne operation. Once on the ground the pathfinders would move to the selected drop
sites and turn on beacons that would help guide the pilots into the drop zones. James Gavin just
needed a way to test his new tactics in combat. On September 9th, 1943 he got his chance the

Class Structure In Ivanhoe
The classic tale of Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott describes the middle ages in English history, where
England was ruled by Richard the First who was a greater warrior than administrator and spent
most of his time away from his kingdom, fighting battles and the Crusades alike. The next in line
Prince John in the mean time had taken over the throne and along with his council of advisors had
wrecked havoc in England, especially for the Anglo Saxonsand Jews.
The novel, Ivanhoe, tells the reader about a medieval period of knights in shining armour, damsels
in distress, codes of conduct, the Church, chivalry and classic romances. Scott portrays the
medieval setting of Ivanhoe by describing events that are characteristic of that time. Many of his ...

Each noble classified his land into different divisions which would be administered by vassals or
nobles of a lower standing. These vassals paid rent to their overlords and supplied them with men
to fight their battles. Under these vassals were Anglo Saxons who had not managed to retain their
lands and surfs who served the noble and did their menial tasks. Apart from this there were
Franklins who had managed to retain their lands and not bow under the pressure from the
Normans. Cedric the Saxon was such an Anglo Saxon. Scott poses a contradiction of sorts
regarding the class structure in society. He protest the feudal system in which the Norman
overlords oppress and exploit those under them, especially the Anglo Saxons and force the
Franklins to come under their rule. At the same time we see that Franklins like Cedric the Saxon
and Athelstan profit from this system and enjoy having thralls or slaves under them. Gurth, the son
of Beowulph is the born thrall of Cedric if Rotherwood. Another part of the class structure is the
position of women, because at the end of the tournament, in the pageant Prince John hold, it seems
that a women is only take into consideration because of their beauty. Both Rowena and Rebecca are
only given the importance that they are because of their fairness. It appears that had they not been
beautiful, their role in the story would have been

Total Quality Management Essay
Total Quality Management The emergence of the global marketplace demands that a company act
on a global scale to be competitive. Competing on this level requires that a company provide a
superior product and superior service. Companies desiring to achieve international quality status

organizations will adhere.

ISO 9001 encompass all of the elements listed in ISO 9002 and ISO 9003. This standard contains
twenty clauses that address issues such as management responsibility, process control, and
corrective and preventative actions. These clauses are designed to promote conformity of processes
such as design, production, and servicing by striving towards the goal of total quality management.
ISO 9000 1 addresses quality management and quality assurance standards. This document defines
the primary concept of the series such as principal objectives and responsibilities, the process of an
organization, and the roles of documentation. This document also provides a definition of
terminology and provides guidance needed for all ISO 9000 series issues.
ISO 9004 1 addresses internal procedures such as organizational goals, management responsibilities,
training, and servicing. As in the ISO 9001 series, this series also contains twenty clauses. This is
also the standard, which provides for the most misunderstandings. It is important that companies
completing the certification process understand the relationship of this standard to the other ISO
9000 family standards. Clauses within the ISO 9004 1 standard provide the foundation for
completing certain ISO 9001 requirements.

Female Circumcision
The western world has a very bad wrap when it comes to looking at foreign practices objectively;
so it s really up for debate whether or not female genital mutilation is a morally sound practice.
Afterall, why does anyone in America have the right to judge this practice or to intervene,
especially with the presence of male circumcision in our own culture? The means by which they
received these circumcisions however, are totally different than a third world countries female
genital circumcision procedure. Male circumcision is largely done in a clean, organized and safe
environment while female circumcision is done mostly in third world countries without the
capability/tools necessary to create such an environment. There are three basic types of genital
circumcision that vary widely depending on the reliability of whoever performs the surgery. The...

More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the
Middle East and Asia. Like many other trends rooted in misogyny and patriarchal design,
opposition to the idea creates a considerable social pressure for families and their loved ones. In
Kenya, men consider uncircumcised girls unclean, immature and unfit for marriage. Girls are
generally circumcised at age 14 or 15, usually just before they are married. In Sierra Leone,
female genital mutilation is explicitly a sacrifice for the fertility both of the individual and her
community and is believed to ensure that women will desire only post marital relations over
masturbation, and thus guarantee reproduction. To say this trend is only dragged on by males
would be a lie because statistically, elderly women often do the most to perpetuate the custom as
well as the victims themselves. Some of them voluntarily and joyfully partake in the ritual,

Essay: Circle of Faith In Action
Through the story of the king and the sparrow, we come to realize the implications that social
justice has on a community. In following the circle of faith in action, we realize the king became
aware, analyzed, and acted only after his death. The circle of faith in action began with the king s
awareness of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by
removing his jewels to help those in need. Although the king directly supported those in need
through monetary donations, he effectively neglected their long term needs to survive. In relation

From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor,
or minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and
wealth the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is
known for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history;
although these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled.
America s poor seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational
opportunities, and employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with
a background of poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through
the nation s ideals, America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can
contribute .
In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming
paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one
usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. In
terms of respect America seems to be lacking; the disrespect of America seems to be a
manifestation of our own problems. Harvard Medical School psychiatry professor Alvin Poussaint
takes it one step further, I think it s a

Literary Analysis Of The Poem Morte DArthur
At first the poem Morte d Arthur, or the The Epic. The speaker says he is going to or is at the
home of Francis Allen on Christmas Eve. Also there are the people and Holmes; the poet,
Everard Hall; as the host. They gather around the wassail bowl (hot mulled cider) and discuss
how the honor seems gone from Christmas. The speaker is tired from his day of ice skating and
falling, and he dozes off, waking to the parson lamenting the general lack of faith throughout the
world. Francis jokes and says he holds faith in Everard, and Everard responds by saying he has
faith in the cider. The speaker asks Everard what became of his great gift of poetry that was so
evident in college, and Francis says that Everard had been working on twelve books about King
Arthur but threw them into the fire. It seems that Everard thought nothing new was said and the
books were mere Homeric echoes, nothing worth. Francis says he has saved one book from the
fire. The speaker s ears prick up, and he remembers the talent of his friend. After some urging, the
poet begins to read. The noise of battle goes on all day. All of the men of the Round Table have
fallen in Lyonesse. King Arthur has also been wounded, and his last knight, Sir Bedivere, brings
him to a chapel near the field in the barren land. The King speaks to Bedivere about the severing
of the company of knights, the men he loved, and how they will never talk again of lordly deeds
in Camelot. He tells Bedivere to take his sword

The Emotional Abuse Woman Summary
The Emotionally Abuse Woman by Beverly Engel, a therapist with sixteen years of experience
and a victim of emotional abuse herself, is a book geared towards women who are involved with
friends, family members, bosses or any one significant in their life who is emotionally abuse
towards them. Her goal of those reading who are also in emotional abusive relationships is to
share her knowledge and experience of others to educate the abused woman, leaving her with
skills on how to cope, move on and avoid future abusive relationships. Engel starts out her book,
with a definition of abuse, defining it as verbal, physical or emotional attacks directed at an
individual in order to control him/her, humiliate him/her, or to cause fear. She explains... Show more

One aspect is the role that society plays in acclimatizing women to be a victim. Engel (1990 p.
44) explains that women have been taught by society to become martyrs. As children, boys are
encouraged to stick up for themselves and girls are urged to accept what is and to be passive,
conditioning women to have a victim mindset (Engel, 1990, p. 44). This psychological theory is
also supported by Hyde and Else Quest (2013 p. 298), identifying it the learned helplessness
theory. In this theory, when individuals are exposed to disagreeable situations with no hope of
avoidance, they learn to accept the circumstance and become helpless (Hyde Else, 2013, p. 298).
When a woman stays in an abusive relationship, she feels powerless, losing hopefulness and
accepts the despair (Engel, 1990, p. 143). This can be one of the reasons why women stay in abusive

I. THE MAIN FACTORS LED TO THE COLLAPSE
When the words spread about the large size of fishery, fleets from all over the world joined the
hunt. Every year, the size of the fleets got bigger and every year, the size of the catch increased. In
the late 50s the arrival of large factor ships from other countries hailed the first onslaught to the
finely balanced renewable cod fishery. These factory trawlers came from England, the U.S., the
Soviet Union, East and West Germany, Portugal, Poland, and some Asia nations such as Japan and

In Newfoundland over 35,000 fishers and plant workers from over 400 coastal communities
became unemployed in 1992 (Collapse of the Atlantic Northwest Cod Fishery). * ECOLOGICAL:
The Atlantic cod fishery collapse left terrible ecological consequences. As mentioned above, the
fishing technology was a major destruction to the ecological system by using deployment and
draggers. The huge nets that were dropped and dragged along the bottom of the ocean destroyed
the underlying eco system in the process. The effect of selective fishing on spawning grounds
that is, selectively over exploiting one species in an ecosystem had disastrous effect on the
feeding relationships in that ecosystem. This contributes to the overall reduction of spawning
stock biomass of the targeted species, but also an increase in the number of invertebrate and
vertebrate predators such as crustacean and fish which will prey on cod eggs, larvae, and
younger fish. It is a little wonder that a species like cod, would eventually run into difficulties
struggling to survive when its habitat is being continuously destroyed and the balance of their
food chain had been wiped out. III. CANADIAN CONTEXT COMPARED WITH OTHER
COUNTRIES

Home Theater Research Paper
When you visit your home theater store in your local area, you ll encounter a wide variety of
ultra technical sounding cable names, such as Mega, Monster, and Uber Cables. The growing
numbers of home theater cable types in boutiques is often a hot topic among technology and
home theater enthusiasts. However, you may ask yourself, how much of a difference does the
right cable actually make? Is it actually worth differentiating between them? In spite of the
pitfalls that tend to pop up as soon as this subject is mentioned, I ll make an attempt to make a
valuable contribution to this matter. The most critical matter to appreciate is that a cable is
unable to to improve upon a home stereo system s sound, just like an electrical wire won t
generate more electricity when you plug the wire into an electric plug socket in a wall. With this
being a very closely related analogy, consider when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keeping this notion in mind, sense can now be made when you consider that low grade wires
are unable to physically alter the sounds played on your home theater system, stereo, or other
device. Alternatively, the manner in which wires affect home theater or stereo playback is
analogous to a game of telephone , during which the musicians tell the CD a message, the CD
conveys this message to the audio device, the audio device relays this message to the wires, and
the wires convey these previous messages to a home theater or other audio device s speakers,
which can account for sound quality loss each time the sound is conveyed to another subject.
Therefore, if the original message was, Big girls don t cry. , the message that arrives as output
might be, I like apple pie, or what could be an amazing live recording conveyed as distant, tinny, or

The Ancient Egyptian Revolution And The Religious Services
For nothing irrational or fabulous or prompted by superstition, as some believe, was embodied in
the religious services, but ideas which either had moral and necessary causes or were not devoid
of historical or physical plausibility (De Iside et Osiride. Plutarch. 8.353e). The Ancient Egyptians
craving for Ma at over Isfet is most prevalent in this perception, with that being said the irrational as
well as the fabulous have no reason to exist in the Egyptians, or any, ordered world, thus allowing
the creation of the essentiality of sensible reasons for events of calamity, such as those of plague
and disease; the calendars of lucky and unlucky days being a primary example of the contradictory
effort. It could be thought that the calendars of lucky and unlucky days are just indicators of pure
superstition, but the Ancient Egyptians did not see it that way, therefore this thought cannot work
in this example. Henceforth, it may be that the Egyptians saw the epagomenal days as outstandingly
wicked since their prominence was that of being called the five days in addition to the year ,
disrupting the order the calendar had of being twelve thirty day months. For the duration of the
epagomenal days, the Ancient Egyptians assumed that time, neheh, remained stagnant and fearing
that djet, best described by J. Assmann as being the unchanging continuation of that which is
completed , might persist evermore, thus forever upsetting Ma at, unless particular rituals were
performed.

Molybdenum Essay
Molybdenum is a chemical element with symbol Mo and atomic number 42. The name is from
Neo Latin molybdenum, from Ancient Greek ОњПЊО»П…ОІОґОїП‚ molybdos, meaning lead,
since its ores were confused with lead ores. The mass number is 95.94, number of neutrons is 54,
the electron configuration is [Kr]4dвЃµ5sВ№. Molybdenum is used as glass furnace electrodes due
to its high melting point. It is also used in the petroleum industry, to catalyze the removal of
organic sulfur compounds in coal liquification and gas liquification processes. Molybdenum is an
essential trace element for animals and plants. molybdenum can cause diarrhea, growth
retardation, infertility, low birth weight, and gout; it can also affect the lungs, kidneys, and liver.
The Climax Mine is located approximately 13 miles northeast of Leadville, Colorado and is a
porphyry molybdenum deposit with molybdenite as the primary sulfide mineral. The other major
source of molybdenum is by product from copper mines in the western part of the United States,
Canada, Chile, Mexico and Peru. Molybdenum is a valuable alloying agent, contributing to

Analysis Of Helen Keller In The Chosen By Chaim Potok
Helen Keller was deaf and blind and even mute girl when she first came into the world. Despite
the fact, that she had several disabilities, she grew as one of the most respectable author, political
activist, and lecturer in the history. She grew well mainly because of the guidance and care of
Anne Sullivan her teacher, mentor, and leader. The story of Helen Kellerproves the importance of
admirable leader to people and individuals. In Chaim Potok s book The Chosen, Mr. Malter s wise
advice to Danny, Reb Saunders s strong will, and Mr. Galanter s heart for Reuven prove that the
three characters are excellent leaders. The characteristics that three men revealed in the story helped
those who were under their guidance.
First, Mr. Malter s wisdom to give appropriate advice in right circumstances demonstrates his
wonderful guidance. When Mr. Malter realized that Danny, the son of Reb Saunders, came to
library to read secular books, he guided him in wisdom. Danny s father Reb Saunders, a Hasidic
religious leader, forbid his son to read any other than their religious and school books. However,

Descriptive Writing In Catcher In The Rye

boy Named Holden who is in a mental hospital. Having a flashback about what happened last
December when he was 16 and just got kicked out of Pence prep in the story he is trying to
discover the world. Confused about everything does poorly in school and shows depression in
hatred for everyone and everything. Throughout the story he meets people that impact his life like
Mr. Spencer and Robert Ackley. Mr. Spencer a seventy year old man
, who is Holden s history
teacher. You may still wonder why he is even teaching at his age if you really think about it. Old
and gross two words that come out of readers mind s when reading the story. The minute I went
in, I was sorry of I d come he was reading the Atlantic monthly , and there were pills and medicine
all over the place and everything smelled like Vicks Nose Drops it was pretty depressing I m not
too crazy about sick people anyway what made it more depressing , old spencer had on this very
sad , ratty old bathrobe that he was probably born in it or something I don t much like to see old
guys in their pajamas and bathrobes anyway this introduces us to the way adults view Holden and
they he views them in return this a big lack of understanding Mr . Spencer dosen t know what s
wrong with Holden but he wants to help by lecturing Holden.
Mr. Spencer is a very nice teacher the character in the story seems to have a connection with him.
Even if he failed Holden for not writing his essay on the Egyptians like he should ve have old
Spencer cares for him deeply. I d like to put a sense in that head of yours boy I m trying to help you
If I can Holden thought different of all the teachers Mr spencer made a big difference but that didn t
mean he would change that still gives the reader a thought on Mr. Spencer never giving up and
having faith that someday things would change.
Robert Ackley a former roommate of Holden s has many weaknesses. Ackley is dirty, pimply,
and all around unhygienic he s annoying. He ll come into your room and pick your personal stuff
and put it back in the wrong place. He thinks being two years older than Holden makes him

The Relationship Between Density And Sugar Content
The Relationship Between Density and Sugar Content

Lab Performed 03/11/15 Lab Report 04/07/15
Abstract:
Using solutions of sugar and water alongside cola, density and percent sugar can be related. The
purpose of this lab is to discover how and with what benefit these factors can be related. Using
assorted measurements and the standard curve of the calculated densities and percentages of sugar
solutions, it was learned that cola has an approximate percent sugar of four percent, according to the
calculations of the lab. Other results included actual percent sugar of soda and various statistics on
measured sugar solutions. Introduction
The purpose of this lab is to explore how density can be used to measure sugar content and percent
sugar of beverages not only in the lab, but in the real world. Using the standard curve of the
percent sugar and density of the solutions in the lab, the percent sugar of regular Coke was
determined. The standard curve represented the general trend in the correlation of the values
calculated in the lab. Using the data from the experiment, the actual amount of sugar in the soda
could be calculated by using the percent sugar found by using the standard curve. (If the soda has
a mass of x and the percent sugar is the value y, x в—Џ y = mass of sugar.)
Of course, the simple calculation of percent sugar dividing the mass of the sugar by the mass of the
solution can be

The Effects Of Injury Assessment On Athletes Participating
Soccer like other popular sports has a risk of injury for the athletes participating. As a part of the
sports medicine team it is crucial to be able to treat these injuries effectively and ultimately have
the athlete returning to play as soon as possible. Injuries to the lower extremities are the most
common in soccer. These injuries may be traumatic, such as a kick to the leg or a twist to the knee,
or result from overuse of a muscle, tendon, or bone (1). This information will be helpful when
assessing an injury. The three steps of injury assessment are, determine the type and extent of the
injury, locate signs and symptoms, and finally compare bilaterally to notice any deformities (2).
Our injury assessment is aided by the popular acronym H.O.P.S. Which stands for history,
observation, palpation, and special tests. History is crucial for diagnosing an injury and would
usually be found out by asking questions such as, what happened? , Has it happened before? .
Asking this can locate any repetitive motions or actions that have been causing this injury.
Observation is looking for signs, which are observable deformities such as a rash, swelling, or
dislocation. Next is palpation, which is touching to look for pain or unusual textures on the skin.
Finally, special tests, these are used to rule in/rule out injuries based on specific joint tests. One of
the most important things for any sports medicine team to know is the emergency actions plan for
their facility. This is a

The Photographer Into Afghanistan With Doctors Without...
In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes
evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they
actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the
people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in
that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also
portrays Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book
there are examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page
176. It displays Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with
the follow up panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents
both the humanitarian and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first
panel, is the image itself confirms racial ambiguities. The men shown are of darker complexions,
which is perceived as being inferior to whites. On top of that, it confirms that non whites are
violent, as one of the men are holding a gun. They are all men, wearing turbans and hats and worn
down jackets. Peering at the first panel makes readers think Lefevre failed his mission to humanize
Afghanis, but a closer look at the narrator s block tells another story.

Nietzsche Vs Kierkegaard
Existentialism is a philosophical theory or approach that emphasizes the existence of the individual
person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.
In other words existentialism is saying your a free individual and your actions define what you are.
Many people see the the philosopher Jean Paul Sartre as the father of existentialism, but
existentialism was founded in the 1800s by Friedrich Nietzsche, soren kierkegaard. The ideas
accredited to Sartre are in many ways the ideas of Nietzsche and kierkegaard presented in a
different way. Those that parctice existentialism to its strictest interpretation being you should live

In Fyodor Dostoyevskys novel Notes from Undergroud an unamed man is ill with too much
conscious, he is aware of his environment to such an extend that to him there is no rigth or wrong
and he doesn t do anything because when people are faced with all angles to the answer of a
question without having a predetermined sence of rigth and wrong it becomes very difficult to
take action. I could not become anything; neither good nor bad; neither a scoundrel nor an honest
man; neither a hero nor an insect. And now I am eking out my days in my corner, taunting myself

existentialism was an extremely lonely man he thought solitude was needed to beacuse in his
mind being around other people would trigger the herd instinct of morality, according to
Nietzsche to become your self you must be by yourself. The individual has always had to
struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and

Introduction.
Organizational change management is a three word three word term that refers to a framework
used to manage the effects brought through business processes, organizational structure changes or
changes found in an organization. On the other hand, the psychological contract, developed by a
scholar named Denise Rousseau, involves informal arrangements, mutual beliefs, common ground
and perceptions between an employee and the employer. The theory behind it, according to
Rousseau s article (1998), defines the state of the relationship and defines detailed practility of the
work to be done. This paper emphises on the importance of organizational change agents to
understand the psychological contract theory, the barriers to organizational change and the methods
and techniques involved in organizational change management
Organizational change theory.
It s a fact in today s fast moving environment any business whose pace of change is slow is likely
to be sorely disappointed. It s therefore important for businesses to embrace change so as not to

Flat Roof Inspection
If you own or manage a commercial building with a flat roof, your roof is one responsibility that
you cannot afford to neglect. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than the peaked roofs commonly
found on homes. Although there are some signs of a leaking roof that would be hard to miss,
there are a number of warning signs that are far less obvious. Here are some tips on how you can
ensure that your roof has the ability to protect what lies beneath it.
Have Regular Roof Inspections
The best protection is to hire a trained roofing professional to inspect your roof. You or your
contractor should inspect your roof every six months as well as after an unusually heavy rain has
fallen.
Look for Signs of Damage
When inspecting your roof, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Look for standing water, which can indicate a drainage problem that increases your risk of a leak
developing. Check for nails protruding through the membrane; they can rust and allow water to
penetrate. Press on seams to see if water is forced out from underneath the membrane, indicating a
failed seam.
When to Call a Reputable Roofing Company
There are times when professional assistance is needed to repair or maintain your flat roof. A
professional roof inspection can help you avoid additional damage and catch small problems before
they become major issues. It is also a good idea to call a professional if your flashing is damaged or
missing. If you have a drainage problem, an experienced roofer can offer solutions. You should
also ask a reputable roofing contractor to advise whether it is better to replace an aging roof or
repair torn membranes and failed seams.
Who to Call

deal of experience with flat roofs, flashing and gutters for commercial buildings. We also install
metal roofing systems, asphalt shingles and skylights and offer many other services. We are
committed to outstanding customer service and exceptional workmanship at competitive rates. If

Tattooing Women And Women
It is a shocking reality that, while since 2012 more women in the US have tattoos than men, only
one in six tattoo artist s is a woman. While there are many women featured in magazines such as
Inked, it is rare to see any working in shops as artists. Since the rise of tattooing as prominent
industry in the mid twentieth century, it has almost always been a male dominant field. With the
progressive nature of modern society, the tattooindustry can become more inclusive of femaleartists
if they can be respected more as being serious and talented. The tattooingfield today is extremely
exclusive and difficult to break into, as well as being highly male dominated. Machismo and
strength are greatly valued in shops as becoming an artist (and having completed an apprenticeship)
is notoriously difficult. An apprenticeship, the two to three year period of training under an
established artist, is necessary to become an independant artist and consists of sweeping, cleaning
stations, scrubbing bathrooms, making appointments, and everything that is required to maintain a
shop. Unfortunately, apprentices are usually known as the shop b**ch and are hazed mercilessly in
order to weed out the weak and instill the thick skin necessary to work as an artist. For women
apprenticing, this hazing can easily take the form of sexual harassment and misogyny in the
workplace. This diminutive harassment that remains unquestioned and is considered required in the
industry contributes to the low

Coco Mademoiselle Ads
The Coco Mademoiselle ad by Chanel incorporates many explicit messages from the First Order of
Signification which can be deconstructed to reveal manipulative implicit meaning through the
Second Order of Signification . In the first explicit message the viewer sees that the signifier is
that the model is naked and is cover herself with maleclothing. The signified meaning is that it is
showing that the male presence is dominant as she is covering herself with men s suspenders. This
shows that even though this is an ad meant for women the male presence influences unrealistic
standards on how everyone sees beauty towards women. The next explicit image that can be seen in
the ad is the item that they are trying to sell the bottle of perfume... Show more content on

By being able to deconstruct these image based ads it has changed my reaction when I see them
now, now I m more wary of how I see them because I see the model or models as a tool to get
across a message. An example of this is when we had to deconstruct the Vogue ad what this did was
show the female model was submissive, an item to the male model and that the male is in control
of the female model as he clinches her and is in control of a yonic symbol the ball showing his
dominance. It has made me see things that are usually innocent like a beautiful model and a
renowned NBA star into seeing how he owns her and she is completely oblivious to the fact that
she is being controlled by a man and is okay with it. Another thing that this course has impacted
on future ads that I ll see is the colours in these ads. Now when I see all of these colours in these
ads I would be wondering what the ad really meant as the colours give all of the symbols more
meaning. So this has showed me how much the simplest thing like colours can have the biggest
effect on the ad to make it have a completely different meaning then what we original saw it for.
The last point is how I would caution other people about how they get manipulated by what the ad
is communicating to us. I would say that these ads are now

Impact Of The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The most transformative piece of legislation relating to a minority culture group in America is the
Voting Rights Act of 1965, also known as the VRA. This piece of legislation has nearly 150 years
of history to prove that its affect on minorities, mainly African Americans, has had a major impact
on American civil rights and is still in the spotlight today. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was
signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnsonon August 6, 1965, and was designed to overcome
legal barriers at both the state and local levels of government that prevented African Americans
from exercising their right to vote. ( Voting Rights Act of 1965 ) The 15th Amendment to the U.S.
Constitution ratified on February 3, 1870 granted African Americanmen the right to vote declaring
that the right of citizens of the United Statesto vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United
States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. (Primary
Documents...) Sadly, the promise of the 15th Amendment was not realized for nearly a century
because of government use of poll taxes, literacy tests and other means used by the Southern states
to disenfranchise African Americans. The passing of the VRA helped completely change history
giving African American citizens a voice. Beginning with the passing of the 15th Amendment in
1869, minority voting rights has had a lengthy history in America. In 1896, Louisiana grandfather
clauses kept former slaves and

The Importance Of Teamwork And Learning Processes After...
In studying and learning about human behaviour in organisation unit at University of Canberra, it
is compulsory to review the aspect of teamwork and learning processes after completing the video
project assignment. Students should critically analyse about the teamwork experience as part of
their learning processes and put it in the form of individual essay. This essay briefly discussed
about my personal experiences associated with the related teamwork. Generally speaking, the team
has done a great job in terms of goal achievement. However, the problem that I observed during the
teamwork process learningis about the lack of cohesion in group due to conflict among the members
. On the other hand, the good experience about the group is the commitment of all members of the
group to accomplish the project on time. In other words, the positive experience outweighs the
negative one, especially when all members keep their commitment towards the goal of the group.
Teamwork is the number of people who work together to achieve a goal, which they have rules
and a clear working mechanism and interdependent with each other (Andrzej and David 2013). In
general, there are five stages in the evolution of a team including forming, storming, norming,

Violence And Death In Romeo And Juliet
Is Romeo and Juliet a Shakesperian play full of love at first sight or just rash and consequential
decisions? In this play we meet two star crossed lovers who meet at a party on one night and
then, almost instataneously, plegde themselves for each other and plan to marry, which then
leads to six people dying including themselves. Romeo and Juliet should have taken it slow with
their affairs in order to eliminate the violence and death that ensued from them falling in love,
encourage a healthier road to peace in order to unite both families, and to better encourage a
more joyful relationship, as mentioned by Friar Lurence. Juliet and Romeo s love at first sight

Integrated Reporting Of Nigeri Where We Are Coming From
4.0 INTEGRATED REPORTING IN NIGERIA: WHERE WE ARE COMING FROM 4.1
PRACTICES PLAYERS Accounting principles as practiced in Nigeria has its origin in Britain
due to the colonial influence and the early influence of accountants of Nigerian origin who were
practising in the UK. These accountants were made a move to institutionalize accounting in
Nigeria and therefore designed the framework of accounting practice based on their current
inclination. Association of Accountants in Nigeria (AAN) [1] the progenitor of ICAN was
formed in 1960. ICAN herself did not come into existence until September 1, 1965 [ 2]. This
officially set the ball rolling for the regulation of accounting practice in Nigeria. ICAN is not the
only professional accountancy association regulating the practice of the profession in Nigeria
though it has remained dominant over the years. The other being Association of National
Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) which was chartered on 25th August, 1993 [3]. Relations
between the two bodies has been anything but cordial as ICAN sought to void the decree
establishing the other body in order to have sole control over the regulation of accountants and
accounting profession in Nigeria. In November 2007 this attempt failed as the Federal High court
in Lagos dismissed the suit. [4] 4.2 POOR REGULATIONS AND REGULATORY FRAME
WORK Despite the controversies in the practice of accounting profession, in roads were made

Act II Of William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Act II of William Shakespeare s Macbeth is about how Lady Macbeth meets her spouse in the
lower patio as he rises up out of the ruler s room itself. Macbeth s still, small voice is
unmistakably irritated by what he has done, and again his wife scrutinizes his absence of
immovability. The accomplishment of their plot is likewise in peril in light of the fact that Macbeth
has carried the knifes with him. Lady Macbethcomes back to the scene of the homicide keeping in
mindthe end goal to put the knifes and to spread the ruler s dozing hirelings with blood, a deed that
gives her none of the loathsomeness that now influences Macbeth. As the scene closes, we listen,
with the Macbeth s, an uproarious and relentless thumping at the entryway.... Show more content on

The way that simply offer voice to the Macbeth s lethargic desire would appear to affirm this
thought, however this is countered by the way that Banquo additionally sees the same witches
and hears them talk. The dagger of the mind is one and only of numerous mental appearances in
the play. As the bodyguards murmur God bless us in their smashed trance, Macbeth finds that he
can t articulate the request to God word Amen. A mental abstract investigator may see this as a
physical failure to talk, created by Macbeth s deadening uncertainty about the accuracy of the
homicide. The inward universe of the mind in this way forces itself on the physical world. The
same can be said for the voice that Macbeth hears crying Macbeth shall sleep no more . A
staggering feeling of blame will avert guiltless rest from giving Macbeth break from his tormented
soul. While he has dispatched Duncan to unceasing rest, he himself lives now in everlasting
uneasiness. Notwithstanding his vexed presence, Macbeth s bothered rest can likewise be perused
as an illustration for the grieved condition of the nation. In Macbeth as with numerous other
Shakespearean plays there is a nearby and reflected relationship in the middle of lord and the
nation. In scene 4, for instance, Ross reports that by the clock tis day,/And yet dark night strangles
the traveling light (II iv 6 7). This picture of the dimness

Pentecostal Movement Its Impact Among the Dalits and...
I. Introduction
The prime focus of this paper is to explore the modern Pentecostal or charismatic movement and its
impacts among the Dalits and the tribal in India. In this paper the presenter will also try to bring
out a brief origins and historical development of Pentecostalism, in order to understand the
movement and its impact on the Dalits and the tribal in India.
1. Etymology of the term Pentecostal
The term Pentecostal is derived from the Greek word pentekostГ© which literally means fifty . It
is the Greek name for the Jewish festival known as the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament, which
celebrates the fiftieth day after Passover observances. The New Testament used the term to refer to
the established Jewish feast. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Azusa Street revival on April 1906, Azusa Street soon became the Mecca for thousands
of visitors around the world. The people who visited this place went back to their homelands spread
this new experience and spread the Pentecostalism to other parts of the world and formed
Pentecostal churches. From the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles, Pentecostalism spread rapidly
around the world and began its advance toward becoming a major force in Christendom.
5. Pentecostalism Movement in India
We have observed the modern Pentecostal movement in the 20th century that sparked out of the
revivals that took place at Azusa Street, Los Angeles, which spread rapidly to the ends of the earth.
Most of the scholars traced back the origin of Pentecostalism to the Azusa Street revival in 1906.
However, it is not yet firmly established as to when the Pentecostalism started in India because prior
to the coming of Pentecostal missionaries in the 20th century there were Pentecostal like events in
the history of Christianity in India.
According to Gary McGee, the eminent historian of Assemblies of God, Pentecostalism had already
established itself in India long before word of Azusa reached the subcontinent. He validated by
showing the documentary evidence that Pentecost, with all the associated phenomena, came

Operating System Security Flaws POS/355 November 3, 2014 Distributed System Failures: As
basic users, security is one feature that most of us overlook when it comes to operating systems
until it is too late. In this paper we will discuss the security flaws within the Windows Operating
system, and then discuss countermeasures to fix the system flaw. We will first look at some
known flaws in Windows 7 and Windows 8. An Information Security Engineer at Google had
decided to reveal a flaw that affected two of Microsoft s newest operating systems that allowed
attackers to obtain higher privileges on an unpatched computer. The vulnerability was caused due to

Microsoft is advising customers that there is no patch currently available for this vulnerability;
they have supplied a fixit tool that decreases the attacks. While the present exploits are using
PowerPoint files to deliver the malware, given the type of flaw, they may start using different
office files such as word documents or excel spreadsheets. The second zero day vulnerability is
CVE 2014 4113, which is a local elevation of privilege vulnerability; this flaw has been seen in
attacks against Windows Server 2003/R2, 2008/R2, Windows 2000, Windows Vista and
Windows XP SP3. This flaw cannot be used on its own to compromise a victim s security. The
attacker would need to gain access to a remote system running any of the above lists operating
systems before they could execute code within the context of the Windows Kernel. ( Sandworm

Compare and Contrast Tumor Suppressor Genes and...
Compare and contrast tumour suppressor genes and proto oncogenes. Discuss an example of how
recent advances in our understanding of these genes have led to the development of a novel therapy
that is being used in the treatment of human cancer.
Cancer known in medicine as a malignant neoplasm is one of the biggest killers worldwide. In
2007, cancer caused roughly 13% (7.9 million) of the planet s deaths (Jemal, 2011). This will
more greatly affect an aging society such as ours in years to come, and yet it is already the
foremost cause of death in the developed world. The main reason cancer causes so many fatalities
the body s inability to mount an effective response to the failure of DNA replication within the
body. This results in a mass... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mutations (for most cancers) must appear in both tumour suppressing genes and oncogenes for
cancers to form. The tumour suppressing genes and oncogenes act in complementary fashion to one
another; one pulls forward, and the other pushes back ensuring that the cell cycle occurs in a
controlled manner (Sherr, 2004).
Oncogenes were discovered in the 1960s, when it was discovered that some animal cancers such
as lymphomas were caused by viruses. Some of these viruses were notable due to the simplicity
of their RNA genome. These viruses only had three distinct transcription units, involved in the
replication of the virus (coat proteins and reverse transcriptase etc.), and an extra gene. This was
an oncogene. When oncogenes are properly functioning they are termed proto oncogenes (Todd
R, 1999). Their normal function is to control cell proliferation. These function in growth
signalling pathways, and conversely to tumour suppressing cells are activated through a gain in
function rather than a loss of it. This occurs in two ways, by producing more of a product, or
producing a subtly different product, as a result of a mutation similar to tumour suppressor genes
(Croce, 2008). Oncogenes play a particularly strong role in the development of breast cancers.
Often the normal ERBB2 and other related genes are amplified in late stage neuroblastomas and
rhabdomyosarcomas. ERBB2 encodes HER2 which is a member of the epidermal growth factor

Catholic Marriage Vs Anglican Marriage
Marriage is the unification between a man and a woman, instituted and ordained by God, for the
lifelong relationship between one man as husband and one woman as a wife. This is what the
ritual of marriage means in Christian churches. Many people choose not to marry in the Christian
church due to the strict format you have to follow. However, based on my ethnographic results and
research, there are wide ranges of options where marriages in Catholic and Anglican religions can
be adapted to, however; it is directed by their Church authorities to a certain degree.
The introductory rites are similar in both Catholic and Anglican marriages, with some differences.
Catholics have two options on how they walk in. They can either walk down the aisle ... Show more

It is where a couple makes sacred promises to one another and consent to get married to that
particular person. Rings are also exchanged during this time. This richly symbolic action seals
commitment to one another. The giving of consent means you marry each other and that you
make the promise to each other to be ever loving and faithful and bear children. Vows can only
be adapted slightly. This can be the case of my interviewee who chose not to put the word obey
in their vows. The vows were chosen from guides or booklets where they can pick from a
selection of marriage vows. In Anglican weddings, the consent is asked by the celebrant,
addressing the groom and then the bride to love, comfort, honour and protect each other. Couple
with joined hands, facing one another, then exchange vows. They should include keywords
such as to love and to cherish as long as we both live . Rings are also exchanged. My Anglican
interviewees used the church s vows and adapted it a little bit. The exchange of vows and rings
is the main feature for couples, which shows that they are now married and that they are husband
and wife. There is a limited range in changes in Christian weddings. However, there are some
options for people who want to personalise it but only to a certain degree such as the vows. The
church vows are more favourable since it consists of all the necessary things a husband and

Division Of Labor In The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith
The Wealth of Nations written by Adam Smith, father of the economics, stated that the division of
labor, different tasks assigned to each individual in order to improve proficiency, has resulted in the
greatest improvement in the industry. Although division of labor can be seen in most industries,
the system are more noticeable and often work betterin larger corporations. For example, One man
draws out the wire, another straights it, a third cuts it, a fourth points it, a fifth grinds it at the top
for receiving the head... (pg.11). In this excerpt, each individual might be able to make one pin by
themselves, however, if ten individual divide up the labor, they can produce up to thousand pins per
day. Another excerpt, In every improved society, the farmer is generally a farer; the manufacturer,
nothing but a manufacturer... (pg.12), however, display a disadvantage view on divisionof labor.
While the division of labor are goodfor industries like the pin industry, the farmers whose tasks of
plowing the field and reaping the harvest can not be divided because they are seasonal in nature.
Also, the agricultural labor can not be more productive with the division of labor. For example, corn
in the undeveloped countries is similar in price as the ones in the developed countries, although
manufactured goods are much cheaper in the latter. In addition, there are three main factors
contributing to the success of the division of labor. One, each individual spend considerable amount

The Management, Economy, and Politics has Created Changes...
Higher education in the United States has changed considerably. The idea of providing
professional pedagogue has been diverged to capital accumulation . The number of non tenure
professors has increased while the number of tenured professors has decreased. According to John
Lombardi, thirty five years ago nearly 75 percent of all college professors were tenurable but today
those proportions have reversed. (John Lombardi, Your Problem is My Problem, pg 2). Despite this
reduction of tenured professors, tuition is drastically increasing. Consequently the number of
undergraduate students in college has declined. These recent changes in higher education, is caused
by the management, the economy and politics. The managements have contributed to theses
changes by neglecting the concept of employing professional and experience professors. Instead
they have adopted the concept of employing professors who are willing to accept the job for low
income irrespective of their experience and professionalism. In colleges today, it is rare to pass
through two sessions without been taught by one or two non tenureprofessors. Most non tenure
professors do not have the experience and effectiveness and the same level of educationa tenured
teacher has but to economize capital, the management prefer these non tenure teacher than the
experience tenured professors. This concept does not improve the technicality of students rather it
deprive and discourages students from learning. According to

The Naturalist Known as Theodore Dresier Essay
The Naturalist known as Theodore Dreiser
Throughout history there has been many great authors that have created even greater works, and
some people refer to these as classics. However, what truly makes an authors work a classic? The
idea of a classic implies something that has continuance and consistence, and which produces unity
and tradition, and transmits itself, and endures. A true classic, is an author who has expressed his
thought, and who has spoken to all in his own peculiar style (Hutchins). Theodore Dreiser is the
epitome of this very definition. Dreiser drew upon his upbringing, life experiences, and the
situations of his family members and transformed these collective experiences into his very first
novel, Sister ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much like many of his other themes and symbols, this one also came as a result of his
experiences, most notably his childhood. Before he was born, his father owned a mill that
eventually burned down. This event caused him to turn into a cynical, bitter man who abused and
tortured his family mentally. This led to Dreiser coming to the conclusion that man is a pawn in
the hands of a blind or malevolent fate (Warren 11). This idea of fate can be further explained as
Dreiser accepting that no one can change the future and whatever is meant to happen to them will
happen, whether it be good or bad. This quote shows him coming to grips with the idea of human
suffering, which he later in life proves to be true in his quest for achievement in the big industrial
cities. Blind fate exists heavily in the Sister Carrie and can be a positive or negative thing. For
example, the main character Carrie becomes an immensely successful person while trying
simply because of fate (where she and others happen to be at certain times). Another example is
George Hurstwood who cheated on his wife and subsequently abandoning her by having an affair
with Carrie (Dreiser). Blind fate plays its hand here by eventually leading to Hurstwood s suicide
after being abandoned by Carrie, much like he abandoned his wife and child. This is an example
of blind fate simply because it was by chance that he met Carrie and ultimately because of that same
chance that

Language In To The Lighthouse, By Virginia Woolf
Virginia Woolf (1882 1941) was a prolific writer, whose style changed with each new novel, and her
work represented the historical moment when art was integrated into society. Her modernist novel
To the Lighthouse stray s from the conventional forms of writing, concentrating not on the plot but
on the characters consciousnessand physical development, producing an innovative type of
narrative which depicts realities beneath appearances, and at the same time brings about a deep
exploration of the human mind. To the Lighthouse was written in 1927 and it is considered a
masterpiece due to the way in which Woolf experimented with the stream of consciousness as well
as with the emotional feelings of her characters. The composition has relatively... Show more

This game of back and forth between what Lily and Mr. Ramsey are thinking, and what they are
actual saying is clarified with the help of the parentheses, which signal the sudden switches in
perspective. Thus at moments it is one character s consciousness, at others it is the narrative voice,
and afterwards another character s consciousness is introduced, all of these being combined within
one sentence. These aspects are psychological elements that constitute the basis for a modernist
writing, and as Virginia Woolf said in her essay Modern Fictionfor the moderns the point of
interest lies very likely in the dark places of psychology. (11) Though the novel contains a
multitude of conventional narration and descriptions, the interior monologue is very often
employed so as to give the novel its special character of seeming to be always within the
consciousness of the characters. A good example of WoolfВґs technique can be seen in the fallowing

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adicie Essay
Single Stories are Problematic
In the world we live in now it has become easy to stereotype and create a single story about
certain people and situations, whether it s intentional or not. In 2009, a Nigerian novelist
named Chimamanda Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called The Danger of the Single Story
. A single story more or less means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture
based on a story created from a single experience. When one hears the same story over and over
again, we start believing only that story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic
and rely on power, a single story I decided to present is how people believe police officers are
abusing their power, and I believe the media is at fault. For one to truly understand a story we
must listen to the root of the story. Her speech made me realize and view things differently. In
the The Danger of a Single Story , Chimamanda Adicie tells her own personal experiences of a
single story and how that can become challenging. She talks about when she started reading and
writing at a young age. She read British and American children s books. When she started
writing all her characters were white and blue eyed just like in the books. It wasn t until writers
Chinua Achebe and Camara Laye that she realized people like her, people of color, could exist in
literature. Adichie s says what the discovery of African writers did for me was this: It saved me
from having a single story

Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities Context: As soon as Charles Darnay arrives at France, he becomes
a prisoner and is taken to a prison named La Force. After learning about Charles departure, Lucie
and Dr. Manette follows Darnay to France. Dr. Manette tells Lucie about a window in the prison

The Suv Automobile Market From 2000-2016
This coursework is going to focus on Chinese SUV automobile market from 2000 2016 as the
SUV segment has been one of the most active consumer markets. In fact, passenger vehicle sales
rose by 19% to 1.7 million units in China in 2016 and sport utility vehicles and multipurpose
vehicles climbed 9.5 percent to 10.8 million units in the January June period, according to the
China Passenger Car Association (Bloomberg News, 2016). More recently, the abolition of one
child policy has brought about increasing demand for more spacious vehicles, which provided a
tailwind for sales of mid sized SUVs (ibid). As Leggett (2016) reports, SUV sales in China
surged by 40% as the segment gained a tremendous share of the overall passenger vehicle market
38.8%. Its popularity can be attributed to SUV s unique features and characteristics which
include: high ground clearance, high centre of gravity, high H point, and boxy body design
(marketsandmarkets.com, 2015); also, SUVs provide a safer environment for occupants and
drivers due to the higher vehicle mass, less absorbed energy and resulting instructions in a crash,
as officially tested (Margaritis et al, 2015). This coursework is divided into three main parts
including demand and supply sides of the Chinese SUV market respectively and Chinese central
government s role in it. Demand Side of Chinese SUV Market Four factors affecting consumers
demand are analysed in this section, including price, income, advertising and marketing, and

  • 2. 82nd Airborne Division Research Paper PAGE 1 Running Head: ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE An Organizational Profile of 82nd Airborne Division during World War II Jon L Clark University of Louisville Dr Bradley Carpenter ELFH 490 98 29 May 2015 ? Introduction We will be exploring and providing insight into the structure of the 82nd Airborne Division. The time frame that we will be analyzing for will be 1940 1945. The reason that I chose this time frame was because it heavily influenced the structure, tactics and methods of employment of an experimental fighting formation in the United States Army. We will explore the organization using Bolman and Deal?s (1997) four frames as a guiding conceptual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Airborne operation in support of the beach landings in Sicily on D day resulted in Paratroopers and units being spread across a hundreds of miles as well as multiple aircraft being shot down by friendly forces. Many of the senior leaders were applying vertical thinking, calling for the scraping the 82nd and sending its personnel out to reinforce their ground forces on the front lines. The leaders of the division utilized a problem solving model. Whetten and Cameron?s (2014) problem solving model consists of four steps; define, generate solutions, evaluate those solutions, and then follow up and refine (p.175). James Gavin defined the problem on D day as aircraft becoming disoriented preventing the accurate delivery of Paratroopers. He then generated solutions with the Air Force pilots and his fellow Paratroopers. After they evaluated the solutions they selected the one that all thought would the best fix to the issue. The final solution was that they would develop Pathfinder units that would be dropped anywhere from 24 to 48 hours prior to the units airborne operation. Once on the ground the pathfinders would move to the selected drop sites and turn on beacons that would help guide the pilots into the drop zones. James Gavin just needed a way to test his new tactics in combat. On September 9th, 1943 he got his chance the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Class Structure In Ivanhoe The classic tale of Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott describes the middle ages in English history, where England was ruled by Richard the First who was a greater warrior than administrator and spent most of his time away from his kingdom, fighting battles and the Crusades alike. The next in line Prince John in the mean time had taken over the throne and along with his council of advisors had wrecked havoc in England, especially for the Anglo Saxonsand Jews. The novel, Ivanhoe, tells the reader about a medieval period of knights in shining armour, damsels in distress, codes of conduct, the Church, chivalry and classic romances. Scott portrays the medieval setting of Ivanhoe by describing events that are characteristic of that time. Many of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each noble classified his land into different divisions which would be administered by vassals or nobles of a lower standing. These vassals paid rent to their overlords and supplied them with men to fight their battles. Under these vassals were Anglo Saxons who had not managed to retain their lands and surfs who served the noble and did their menial tasks. Apart from this there were Franklins who had managed to retain their lands and not bow under the pressure from the Normans. Cedric the Saxon was such an Anglo Saxon. Scott poses a contradiction of sorts regarding the class structure in society. He protest the feudal system in which the Norman overlords oppress and exploit those under them, especially the Anglo Saxons and force the Franklins to come under their rule. At the same time we see that Franklins like Cedric the Saxon and Athelstan profit from this system and enjoy having thralls or slaves under them. Gurth, the son of Beowulph is the born thrall of Cedric if Rotherwood. Another part of the class structure is the position of women, because at the end of the tournament, in the pageant Prince John hold, it seems that a women is only take into consideration because of their beauty. Both Rowena and Rebecca are only given the importance that they are because of their fairness. It appears that had they not been beautiful, their role in the story would have been ... More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In Kenya, men consider uncircumcised girls unclean, immature and unfit for marriage. Girls are generally circumcised at age 14 or 15, usually just before they are married. In Sierra Leone, female genital mutilation is explicitly a sacrifice for the fertility both of the individual and her community and is believed to ensure that women will desire only post marital relations over masturbation, and thus guarantee reproduction. Circle of Faith in Action 12/8/09 Christian Service Learning Essay: Circle of Faith In Action Through the story of the king and the sparrow, we come to realize the implications that social justice has on a community. In following the circle of faith in action, we realize the king became aware, analyzed, and acted only after his death. The circle of faith in action began with the king s awareness of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by removing his jewels to help those in need. From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor, or minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and wealth the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is known for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history; although these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled. America s poor seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational opportunities, and employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with a background of poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through the nation s ideals, America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can contribute . In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. • 9. Literary Analysis Of The Poem Morte DArthur At first the poem Morte d Arthur, or the The Epic. The speaker says he is going to or is at the home of Francis Allen on Christmas Eve. Also there are the people and Holmes; the poet, Everard Hall; as the host. They gather around the wassail bowl (hot mulled cider) and discuss how the honor seems gone from Christmas. The speaker is tired from his day of ice skating and falling, and he dozes off, waking to the parson lamenting the general lack of faith throughout the world. Francis jokes and says he holds faith in Everard, and Everard responds by saying he has faith in the cider. The speaker asks Everard what became of his great gift of poetry that was so evident in college, and Francis says that Everard had been working on twelve books about King Arthur but threw them into the fire. It seems that Everard thought nothing new was said and the books were mere Homeric echoes, nothing worth. Francis says he has saved one book from the fire. The speaker s ears prick up, and he remembers the talent of his friend. After some urging, the poet begins to read. The noise of battle goes on all day. All of the men of the Round Table have fallen in Lyonesse. King Arthur has also been wounded, and his last knight, Sir Bedivere, brings him to a chapel near the field in the barren land. Engel (1990 p. 44) explains that women have been taught by society to become martyrs. As children, boys are encouraged to stick up for themselves and girls are urged to accept what is and to be passive, conditioning women to have a victim mindset (Engel, 1990, p. 44). This psychological theory is also supported by Hyde and Else Quest (2013 p. 298), identifying it the learned helplessness theory. In this theory, when individuals are exposed to disagreeable situations with no hope of avoidance, they learn to accept the circumstance and become helpless (Hyde Else, 2013, p. 298). When a woman stays in an abusive relationship, she feels powerless, losing hopefulness and accepts the despair (Engel, 1990, p. 143). This can be one of the reasons why women stay in abusive ... In Newfoundland over 35,000 fishers and plant workers from over 400 coastal communities became unemployed in 1992 (Collapse of the Atlantic Northwest Cod Fishery). * ECOLOGICAL: The Atlantic cod fishery collapse left terrible ecological consequences. As mentioned above, the fishing technology was a major destruction to the ecological system by using deployment and draggers. The huge nets that were dropped and dragged along the bottom of the ocean destroyed the underlying eco system in the process. The effect of selective fishing on spawning grounds that is, selectively over exploiting one species in an ecosystem had disastrous effect on the feeding relationships in that ecosystem. This contributes to the overall reduction of spawning stock biomass of the targeted species, but also an increase in the number of invertebrate and vertebrate predators such as crustacean and fish which will prey on cod eggs, larvae, and younger fish. It is a little wonder that a species like cod, would eventually run into difficulties struggling to survive when its habitat is being continuously destroyed and the balance of their food chain had been wiped out. Home Theater Research Paper When you visit your home theater store in your local area, you ll encounter a wide variety of ultra technical sounding cable names, such as Mega, Monster, and Uber Cables. The growing numbers of home theater cable types in boutiques is often a hot topic among technology and home theater enthusiasts. However, you may ask yourself, how much of a difference does the right cable actually make? Is it actually worth differentiating between them? In spite of the pitfalls that tend to pop up as soon as this subject is mentioned, I ll make an attempt to make a valuable contribution to this matter. The most critical matter to appreciate is that a cable is unable to to improve upon a home stereo system s sound, just like an electrical wire won t generate more electricity when you plug the wire into an electric plug socket in a wall. With this being a very closely related analogy, consider when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ancient Egyptian Revolution And The Religious Services For nothing irrational or fabulous or prompted by superstition, as some believe, was embodied in the religious services, but ideas which either had moral and necessary causes or were not devoid of historical or physical plausibility (De Iside et Osiride. Plutarch. 8.353e). The Ancient Egyptians craving for Ma at over Isfet is most prevalent in this perception, with that being said the irrational as well as the fabulous have no reason to exist in the Egyptians, or any, ordered world, thus allowing the creation of the essentiality of sensible reasons for events of calamity, such as those of plague and disease; the calendars of lucky and unlucky days being a primary example of the contradictory effort. It could be thought that the calendars of lucky and unlucky days are just indicators of pure superstition, but the Ancient Egyptians did not see it that way, therefore this thought cannot work in this example. Henceforth, it may be that the Egyptians saw the epagomenal days as outstandingly wicked since their prominence was that of being called the five days in addition to the year , disrupting the order the calendar had of being twelve thirty day months. For the duration of the epagomenal days, the Ancient Egyptians assumed that time, neheh, remained stagnant and fearing that djet, best described by J. Assmann as being the unchanging continuation of that which is completed , might persist evermore, thus forever upsetting Ma at, unless particular rituals were performed. ... The Relationship Between Density And Sugar Content The Relationship Between Density and Sugar Content Danielle Shaub Partners: Emily Alexander, Bill Dempsey, Shayla Ho Lab Performed 03/11/15 Lab Report 04/07/15 Abstract: Using solutions of sugar and water alongside cola, density and percent sugar can be related. The purpose of this lab is to discover how and with what benefit these factors can be related. Using assorted measurements and the standard curve of the calculated densities and percentages of sugar solutions, it was learned that cola has an approximate percent sugar of four percent, according to the calculations of the lab. Other results included actual percent sugar of soda and various statistics on measured sugar solutions. Introduction The purpose of this lab is to explore how density can be used to measure sugar content and percent sugar of beverages not only in the lab, but in the real world. Using the standard curve of the percent sugar and density of the solutions in the lab, the percent sugar of regular Coke was determined. The standard curve represented the general trend in the correlation of the values calculated in the lab. Using the data from the experiment, the actual amount of sugar in the soda could be calculated by using the percent sugar found by using the standard curve. (If the soda has a mass of x and the percent sugar is the value y, x в—Џ y = mass of sugar.) Of course, the simple calculation of percent sugar dividing the mass of the sugar by the mass of the solution can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Injuries to the lower extremities are the most common in soccer. These injuries may be traumatic, such as a kick to the leg or a twist to the knee, or result from overuse of a muscle, tendon, or bone (1). This information will be helpful when assessing an injury. The three steps of injury assessment are, determine the type and extent of the injury, locate signs and symptoms, and finally compare bilaterally to notice any deformities (2). Our injury assessment is aided by the popular acronym H.O.P.S. Which stands for history, observation, palpation, and special tests. History is crucial for diagnosing an injury and would usually be found out by asking questions such as, what happened? , Has it happened before? . Asking this can locate any repetitive motions or actions that have been causing this injury. Observation is looking for signs, which are observable deformities such as a rash, swelling, or dislocation. Next is palpation, which is touching to look for pain or unusual textures on the skin. Finally, special tests, these are used to rule in/rule out injuries based on specific joint tests. In The Photographer Into War Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders, one of the themes evident within the book is the difference between the stereotypes of Afghan people and who they actually are. The photographer, Didier Lefevre, is fueled by, a profound respect and love for the people of Afghanistan, and a belief in the importance of their work ( Lefevre x). The importance in that work was to show humanity in the faces the media portrays as terrorists. The media also portrays Afghanis for being uneducated, sheltered, and driven by religion. Throughout the book there are examples of Afghans that deserve empathy, but one page stood out from the rest: page 176. It displays Bassir Khan s businessmen and bodyguard sitting unamused in the first panel, with the follow up panels of them leaving Didier in the room. The first panel in specific represents both the humanitarian and sheltered themes of the book. What is most interesting about the first panel, is the image itself confirms racial ambiguities. The men shown are of darker complexions, which is perceived as being inferior to whites. On top of that, it confirms that non whites are violent, as one of the men are holding a gun. They are all men, wearing turbans and hats and worn down jackets. Since the rise of tattooing as prominent industry in the mid twentieth century, it has almost always been a male dominant field. With the progressive nature of modern society, the tattooindustry can become more inclusive of femaleartists if they can be respected more as being serious and talented. An apprenticeship, the two to three year period of training under an established artist, is necessary to become an independant artist and consists of sweeping, cleaning stations, scrubbing bathrooms, making appointments, and everything that is required to maintain a shop. In studying and learning about human behaviour in organisation unit at University of Canberra, it is compulsory to review the aspect of teamwork and learning processes after completing the video project assignment. Students should critically analyse about the teamwork experience as part of their learning processes and put it in the form of individual essay. This essay briefly discussed about my personal experiences associated with the related teamwork. Generally speaking, the team has done a great job in terms of goal achievement. However, the problem that I observed during the teamwork process learningis about the lack of cohesion in group due to conflict among the members . On the other hand, the good experience about the group is the commitment of all members of the group to accomplish the project on time. In other words, the positive experience outweighs the negative one, especially when all members keep their commitment towards the goal of the group. Teamwork is the number of people who work together to achieve a goal, which they have rules and a clear working mechanism and interdependent with each other (Andrzej and David 2013). In general, there are five stages in the evolution of a team including forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning (Tuckman and Jensen as cited in Andrzej and David 2013). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mutations (for most cancers) must appear in both tumour suppressing genes and oncogenes for cancers to form. The tumour suppressing genes and oncogenes act in complementary fashion to one another; one pulls forward, and the other pushes back ensuring that the cell cycle occurs in a controlled manner (Sherr, 2004). Oncogenes were discovered in the 1960s, when it was discovered that some animal cancers such as lymphomas were caused by viruses. Some of these viruses were notable due to the simplicity of their RNA genome. These viruses only had three distinct transcription units, involved in the replication of the virus (coat proteins and reverse transcriptase etc.), and an extra gene. This was an oncogene. When oncogenes are properly functioning they are termed proto oncogenes (Todd R, 1999). Their normal function is to control cell proliferation. These function in growth signalling pathways, and conversely to tumour suppressing cells are activated through a gain in function rather than a loss of it. This occurs in two ways, by producing more of a product, or producing a subtly different product, as a result of a mutation similar to tumour suppressor genes (Croce, 2008). Oncogenes play a particularly strong role in the development of breast cancers. Often the normal ERBB2 and other related genes are amplified in late stage neuroblastomas and rhabdomyosarcomas. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like many of his other themes and symbols, this one also came as a result of his experiences, most notably his childhood. Before he was born, his father owned a mill that eventually burned down. This event caused him to turn into a cynical, bitter man who abused and tortured his family mentally. This led to Dreiser coming to the conclusion that man is a pawn in the hands of a blind or malevolent fate (Warren 11). This idea of fate can be further explained as Dreiser accepting that no one can change the future and whatever is meant to happen to them will happen, whether it be good or bad. This quote shows him coming to grips with the idea of human suffering, which he later in life proves to be true in his quest for achievement in the big industrial cities. Blind fate exists heavily in the Sister Carrie and can be a positive or negative thing. For example, the main character Carrie becomes an immensely successful person while trying simply because of fate (where she and others happen to be at certain times). Another example is George Hurstwood who cheated on his wife and subsequently abandoning her by having an affair with Carrie (Dreiser).
