For years, the cutting edge of medicine has promised nanobots. Tiny little machines that could run around your body delivering drugs, checking up on arteries, and generally keeping people healthy. But so far, those machines haven’t quite come to dominate the way some people thought they might. The human body is vastly more complicated than any robot we’ve ever made. So creating a miniscule robot to go inside of it, to work with that vast infrastructure, and to do our bidding, is a huge challenge.

1. NANO ROBOTS AND ITS APPLICATION IN MEDICINE

2. INTRODUCTION
 Nanorobotics is the technology of creating machines or
robots at or close to the microscopic scale of a nanometer
(10-9 meters). More specifically, nanorobotics refers to
the still largely hypothetical nanotechnology engineering
discipline of designing and building nanorobots, devices
ranging in size from 0.1-10 micrometers and constructed
of nanoscale or molecular components.

3. DESIGN OF NANO ROBOTS
 The nano robot design is comprised of integrated nano
electronics and components such as molecular sorting
rotors and a robot arm (telescoping manipulator) derived
from biological models.
 The software NCD (nano robot control design) is a
system implemented to serve as a test bed for nano robot
3D prototyping, serving as a fast development platform
for medical nano robots investigation, the NCD
simulations show how to interact and control a nano
robot inside the body.

4. HISTORY
Richard Feynman gives the famous
“There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom”
First use of the concepts of nanotechnology.

5. ELEMENTS OF NANO ROBOTS
 Carbon will likely be the principal element comprising
the bulk of a medical nanorobot, probably in the form of
diamond or diamondoid/fullerene nanocomposites. Many
other light elements such as hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen,
nitrogen, fluorine, silicon, etc. will be used for special
purposes in nanoscale gears and other components. The
chemical inertness of diamond is proved by several
experimental studies.

10. INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT OF NANO
ROBOTS
 It is expected from different sources that the global market of
nanotechnology will expend very fast. This year, it should
reach $1 trillion. Applications in pharmacology are included
in this action, and the National Institutes of Health estimated
that by the year 2010, more than 50% of all biomedical
advances will be in the nanotechnological sector. Several
factors will contribute to the achievement of these previsions.
First, in the move of the present industrial pharmacy’s view,
methods to achieve an efficient drug delivery are considered
as an essential product characteristic.

11. OBSTACLES TO DEVELOPMENTS
 Obstacles to the growth of nanotechnology for medical
applications greatly depend on three major concerns:
cost, registration procedures, and some kinds of fears.
The problem of cost results in funding research. Today,
most developments are carried on by small
entrepreneurial firms including many spin-ups that
cannot support themselves as yet on current revenues,
whereas big pharmaceutical companies seem still
awaiting for more successes.

12. DISADVANTAGES
 The initial design cost is very high.
 The design of the nanorobot is a very complicated one.
 Electrical systems can create stray fields which may activate
bioelectric-based molecular recognition systems in biology.
 Hard to Interface, Customize and Design, Complex
 Nanorobots can cause a brutal risk in the field of terrorism.
The terrorism and anti-groups can make use of nanorobots as
a new form of torturing the communities as nanotechnology
also has the capability of destructing the human body at the
molecular level.
 The design of the nanorobot is a very complicated one.

13. CONCLUSION
 Nanorobots provide the field of medicine promising
hopes for assistance in diagnosis and treatment. Humans
have the potential to live healthier lives in the near future
due to the innovations of Nanorobots. As further research
continues in this field more treatments will be discovered
and many diseases that do not have cures today may be
cured by nanotechnology in the future.
