San Francisco 1906 Earthquake
The San Andreas fault line has caused constant development nightmares for large urban areas built on
top of it. Some of the most devastating earthquakes in our modern era have occurred along the San
Andreas fault line, due to dense population that resides near it. The most notable and destructive
earthquake on the San Andreas fault line occurred in San Francisco in 1906. The reason this
earthquake was so deadly was due to its magnitude and the poor preparation by the city. This
earthquake was a wakeup call for San Francisco, forcing the city to revolutionize its knowledge on
earthquakes and protocols on how to protect their city. Today, San Francisco is one of the most well
prepared cities for an earthquake and has made great discoveries in ... Show more content on

They quickly began redoing their basic infrastructures, so they could get the city up and running again
and help people affected by the earthquake and fire. The homeless were given temporary housing and
more than 3 million dollars were given out in relief. Once the homeless were accounted for and the
rubble was cleared, the city started rebuilding. The city seemed to rebuild nearly the same way they
had built the city when it was first founded in 1776, with a few adaptations to their buildings like steel
frames and more modern designs. The reason for the city quickly rebuilding within the fastest way
possible was the fear that if they did not rebuild soon, all of the citizen would leave and the city would
enter an economic collapse. This effort to rebuild quickly paid off, as new business continued to come
to San Francisco. The city was even able to host the Panama Pacific International Exposition, a
celebration of the completion of the Panama Canal. Hosting this Exposition resulted in over 18 million
people coming San Francisco and showed the world that San Francisco was back only 9 years after

Lateral Epicondylitis Research Paper
Introduction
Epicondylitis is one of the most common pathology of both athletes and non athletes.(4) The
prevalence of this condition varies from 1% 3% in the general population and peaks at 23% among
workers. The lateral epicondyle , a pyramidal bony prominence where the anconeus , extensor carpi
radialis brevis (ECRB) ,extensor carpi radialis longus (ECRL) and extensor digitorum communis
(EDC) meets.(5) There is evidence that epicondylitis and forceful work tasks of the upper extremity , a
combination of either forceful or repetitive activities with an extreme nonneutral posture of hand and
arm can be associated with lateral epicondylitis. (3)

There has been a growing number of positive feedback following ART intervention being reported.
However , most include a multi modal treatment approach.
Conclusion
Lateral epicondylitis is a primary ailment , occurring more frequently amongst active athletes and
adults of the working class. Patients afflicted with lateral epicondylitis will typically experience pain
at the origin of extensor muscle , pain when resistance is applied against wrist extension and
tenderness upon palpation at the lateral humeral epicondyle.(5) Therefore , diagnosis is usually fairly
straightforward and classified as a stress overload response.(4)
Successful treatment is defined as measures to alleviate pain and stress surrounding the targeted area.
Active release technique has shown great promise in treating lateral epicondylitis. The approach to the
condition has been lauded by several cases where the patient experienced the most improvement in the
condition. The application of ART in treating this condition definitely warrants further research to
investigate its potential

The Revitalization Of The Sears Concourse Building
Is it possible for a community to entrust artists with the responsibility of redeveloping a
neighborhood? After all, doubts are understandable; artists are better at being artists and developers
are best at being developers. As a matter of fact, does an artist/real estate developer even exist? Just
the mere thought seems impractical. Although this may be true in most cities, Memphis, Tennessee is
currently in the middle of a Renaissance, and artists are leading the way. The anchor of this
Renaissance is the revitalization of The Sears Concourse building. The Art Deco 1.5 million square
foot structure built in 1927 was once a source of pride for the city, attracting 30,000 visitors at its
grand opening to marvel at its decadence and eventually serving as a distribution hub for 50 years.
Employing 1500 people and attracting thousands of visitors per day in the department store, it was an
economic pillar of the Crosstown neighborhood. However, in 2010, the building standing empty for
22 years, became an eyesore that Crosstown co founder Todd Richardson describes as a beacon of
hope that is now a disappointing reminder of unmet expectations for the city . The surrounding
neighborhood would keep hoping sooner or later, someone would eventually solve the dilemma of
what to do with so much space that had been empty for so long. Year after year, businesses boarded
up, houses deteriorated and neighbors lost hope. No one knew what to do; that is to say, until an artist,

Swastika Movie Analysis
This view is completely wrong. The movie does not show a divided community at all. In the later part
of the movie, we see that the majority of the town residents actually supported the removal of the
swastikas from the church s design. When the church reopened after the renovation, a huge number of
people showed up to the church to celebrate the fact that the swastika had been removed. Many were
emotional about it and said that they had wanted the swastika removed from the church for a very long
time but they never said anything.
Another positive thing this movie showed was how easily the Christian and Jewish communities
cooperated about removing the swastika from the church. Officials from the church and temple Israel
campaigned together to get the swastika removed. This shows that the issues involving race and
diversity are not that divisive at all. Almost everyone agrees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Effect of Schema on Memory
The Effect of a Schema on Memory
Psychology MSc, University of Hertfordshire
Abstract
Schema Theory is a principle in which cognitive processes are influenced by social and cultural
factors. According to schema theory the knowledge we have stored in our memory is reorganised into
a set of schemas which is based upon our general knowledge and our previous experience.
Experiments have proved that despite seeing and interacting with an object almost every day, our
ability to remember said object is greatly influenced by the schemas we already have. This experiment
will be conducted in an almost identical way to that of French and Richards and look at the effect of

This experiment will be conducted in an almost identical way to French and Richards experiment and
look to determine the effect of schemas on memory. It was predicted that like French and Richards
experiment the participants use their previous knowledge of Roman numerals to mistakenly draw the
clock.
Method
Participants
The participants in this experiment were recruited through opportunistic sampling, the class members
of a Psychology Masters Course in Hertfordshire University. The class was made up of both male and
female students of a variety of ages.
Design
This experiment used between participants, experimental design as all the participants were in three
separate conditions which were then compared. The Independent Variable in this experiment was the
different condition, whether they were in the surprise memory condition, the forewarned memory
condition or the copy condition. The Dependent Variable is the extent to which they could correctly
recall/copy the clock.
Apparatus
This experiment used an instruction sheet which indicated the relevant instructions for each condition.
(This is included in Appendix 1). The experiment also used an identical clock for all the conditions
with roman numerals depicting the numbers, where four was shown as IIII. (This is included in
Appendix 2). The rest of the apparatus included paper, pens and a stop watch.

Tata Motors began manufacturing commercial vehicles in 1954 with a 15 year collaboration
agreement with Daimler Benz of Germany.
This partnership has led Tata Motors to not only become India‟s largest automobile company but also
India‟s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer; the world‟s top five manufactures of medium and
heavy trucks and the world‟s second largest medium and heavy bus manufacturer. Having just entered
the passenger vehicles market segment in 1991, Tata
Motors now ranks second in India‟s passenger vehicle market.
Tata has enjoyed the prestige of having developed Tata Ace, India‟s first indigenous light commercial
vehicle; Tata Safari, India‟s first sports utility vehicle; Tata Indica, India‟s first indigenously
manufactured passenger car; and the Nano, the world‟s least expensive car.
SWOT analysis of TATA motors:

such as irony and exaggeration can be used to entertain a large audience! Another key reason is so that
your child is aware of what happens and why they treat other people that are different to them in series
such as Summer Heights High. In a perfect school everyone is treated equally and no one is abused
and offended, so learning about Summer Heights High can be used as a guide on what not to do, so
your child becomes more respectful and humble of where he is. Furthermore, we learn about the type
of satire on whether it is Horatian or Juvenalian and what this means. Additionally, how satire can be
used to show different personalities of characters within a public school. From this, we look at the
stylistic features of the characters which includes looks, clothing, physical appearance, and attitude.
These stylistic features give meaning and feeling to what is being shown. Do you really want your

Analysis Of Foucault And Queer Theory
In Foucault and Queer Theory Spargo defines queer theory as a nebulous group of cultural criticism
and analysis of social power structures relating to sexuality . It is these power structures and aspects of
culture that are responsible for the discourse that creates and informs ones understanding of gender,
race, and sexuality. However these aspects of identity do not exist separately from one another, but are
constructed in tandem throughout history. These layers of identity inform each other in a way that is
difficult if not impossible to separate. They do not act independently with an additive effect but
intersect constructing their own unique set of experiences and perspectives. In this paper I will be
exploring queer theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Spargo s interpretation of Foucault the hegemonic ideal sexual subject is that of a
straight man, who is presumably white and middle class. According to Foucault the category of
homosexual emerged in the 19th century out of the development of the field of sexology, when
medicine replaced religion as the primary producer of discourse on sexuality, and enforcer of
(hetero)sexual norms . Foucault argues that despite their relative position individuals categorised as
homosexual were able to create their own discourse (or counter discourses) to the narrative on
unnaturalness promoted by sexology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, thus finding agency
within constraining discourses . In this way sexuality and sexual subjects are constructed, understood
and questioned through the discourse produced by those individuals and institutions with access to
power. Spargo goes on to address some of the criticisms of Foucault and how these failing have been
addressed as queer theory has developed. The most significant of these criticism as addressed by
Spargo was Foucault s focus on masculine sexualities . Spargo explores the relationship of the
production of sexuality to gender through a discussion of Judith Butler. Butler argues that gender is
produced and understood via cultural discourse in the same way as sexuality . Gender according to
Butler is

Genesis Allegory
The Bible in the Christian religion is used as a guide and answer book to any concerns that one might
have. With one concern having in mind about whether evolution happened or not, perhaps Genesis has
a hidden message about this topic. In the beginning of chapter two of Genesis, it starts by God
creating the first man and woman and placing them in the garden of Eden. God told Adam and Eve
that they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of knowledge.
At some time, a snake described as the most intelligent of all the wild animals appeared and told Eve
that probably the reason why the Lord didn t allowed anyone to eat the fruits because they will see
clearly and.. will be like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve, thinking the tree of knowledge
will provide her wisdom, eats the fruit as well her husband Adam. As a result, humanity till now
suffers the consequences of Adam and Eve as same with the snake, it was known as an intelligent
animal to a cursed one. This allegory in Genesis warns humanity about too much knowledge . For
example, the snake was known as the most intelligent creature, but yet it was the cause of the downfall
of Adam and Eve. Eve disobeyed God and took a bite of the fruit from the tree of knowledge, because
she wanted to be like God and obtain the understatement of life. ... Show more content on

negative impact, but for those who don t have a religious belief, Hawking has also stated that

The Rationale For The Choice Of Title Essay
1.0 Title and the Rationale for the Choice of Title The title of this training program is Say No to
Sexual Harassment . Sexual harassment means undesirable or unwelcome sexual conduct which
makes people feel annoyed, embarrassed or scared (University of Minnesota 2015). Normally, female
employees are most likely to be the pity victims of sexual harassment. However, male employees can
be the victims too. Appendix 5 shows the snapshot of statistics about sexual harassment in the
workplace.
For most female today, it is important to get a job in order to be successful and independent women. It
is a transformation from past decades. The amount of female employees in the workplace is getting
more and more. In Malaysia, female employees consist of 38.60 % of total labor force in 2013. By
comparing to 1990, involvement of women in the workplace has increased 1.1% (Trading Economics
2015). Appendix 6 shows the percentages of female workforce in the workplace in Malaysia in
different years. Since involvement of women in the workplace is getting more and more, we believe
that sexual harassment against female employees will increase.
The aim of this training program is to help trainees understand sexual harassment more in the
workplace. Sexual harassment is part of the sex discrimination (Australian Human Rights Commission
2015). Sexual harassment in the workplace becomes a common issue in this world. Therefore, sexual
harassment training must give to all

By having them feed at distinctive trophic levels they are not seeking the same foods. The foods the
adults eat are not the same foods the adolescent eats so they are not encroaching and going up against
one another. That separation in trophic levels helps with the survival of the adolescents to the adult

Cultural Plunge at an Asian Market
As I contemplated on what my cultural plunge was going to be, it made me realize that I am lucky to

and white in the inside and has a grape like texture when eaten. Lastly was the Durian, sadly the worst
one of them. It has hard spiky husk that needed to be cracked opened. I was warned about this one but

Outline on Celiac Disease in the U.S
1. Introduction
Celiac Disease is a digestive condition that makes the small intestines to become inflamed and unable
to absorb nutrients (Kamycheva, Goto, Camargo 2017). The condition affects more than 3 million
Americans. One in 133 American people are known to have the disease. The condition is triggered
when an individual eats gluten. Mostly gluten is found in barley, wheat, rye, and other grains that most
Americans love to eat. What if you couldn t eat sandwiches, pasta, cakes, pies, pizza? Sound terrible,
right? This has been my life for 10 years now.
2. Symptoms and causes
Celiac disease is different from other food allergies. Celiac disease is where the small intestine is
diseased. A person with celiac accidentally consumes something with gluten will be more likely to
have intestinal problems such as constipation, gas, and diarrhea (Liu, Dong, Barón, Taki, Norris,

Emissions Mitigation Essay
Emissions Mitigation Through Provincial and Municipal Policy Development According to Canada s
Emissions Trend report, the two provinces that contributed the most to the country s emissions are the
province of Alberta and Ontario. Alberta has suffered many first hand consequences of high GHG
emissions, notably the massive wildfire in Fort McMurray, a fire that burned 85 000 hectares of land
(MacCleans, n.d.). Ontario on the other hand faced a cooler and wetter summer for 2017. Due to the
high contributions of emissions by Albert and Ontario, these provinces have high priorities to establish
legislation and policies to reduce emissions. However, they have enacted multiple provincial

As mentioned before, Ontario s Planning Act is enforced by a city s Official Plan, a document
outlining and providing guidance for a city s growth and development. However these official plans
do not specify emissions reductions. While there is legislation and action taken by provincial
governments, the same cannot be said for municipal governments. Pathways and Barriers to Emissions
Reductions and Policy As illustrated in Table 1, a large contributor to Canada s emissions is the oil
and gas economic sector, in other words, a large part of the energy production sector. Emissions
reductions policies and legislations have been signed and enacted by by federal, provincial, and
municipal governments. Hughes and Chaudhry analyze the pathways and barriers to emissions
reduction targets that have been set out by the Canadian federal government. The proposed targets are
20% below 2006 levels by 2020 and 60 70% below 2006 by 2050. Hughes and Chaudhry analyze
pathways proposed to non carbon emitting energy sources by the National Round Table on the
Environment and the Economy (NTREE), a Canadian government environmental advisory
organization. One pathway is hydroelectricty. Hydroelectricity, according to Hughes and Chaudhry,
meets ~60% of Canada s electricity needs. In 2008, Canada produced 373 total generation (TWh) of
power through hydroelectricity, and is expected to increase production up to 890

The Importance Of Social Media
Perez 1 Krystal Perez Professor Sharifian GOVT 2305 71432 October 30, 2017 Assignment Two
Social media has been radically changing the way we communicate in recent years.
For government officials, social media has become a helpful tool in outreach to its constituents. 1 Take
the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections, for instance. Candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump used
social media, especially Twitter, as a medium to spread awareness and rally public opinion. However,
with all forms of communication, one must take caution when sending a message. Government
officials are no different than any average social media user, and they too, must use social media sites
wisely. Although social media can make a government official s job easier in communicating with
constituents, it can also be damaging to their career if one is not careful. When using social media,
government officials must think before they post, and they must think carefully when choosing
someone to manage their social media accounts.
Before one posts on social media, they must question the content and the tone of their message. This
tip is not only useful to private citizens, but for government officials as well. There are four
suggestions a government official can follow before they post on social media. First, one should
articulate, or voice out, their ideas. Second, one must choose their words and tone of voice carefully.
Third, one must keep in mind that their social media is being read by others who are not

How To Become A Cna Essay

between rhetoric and identity. When thinking about identity it depends on the person. I would define
identity as the key characteristics about each of us that we define ourselves by. How we want to be
seen by others, and how we think others see us. What parts of ourselves we choose to keep private and
what parts we choose to let people see. What we believe morally and dream wise. Our existence and
worth as a human both soul and body which is not determined or differentiated by anything you do or

Most of the indians have drinking and drug problems which these problems are basic personal
problems that they have. In the stories the characters will often be in one place out of the ordinary,
after that they will be transported back in time to one distinct memory. This sort of thing works in
these stories because, it reminds me of how our minds work. It makes me think about how people are
not always there. In class sometimes I stare off into space as most people probably do because they are
thinking about things. Our dreams and memories drift in and out of our minds throughout the day, and
I believe this is what Alexie is trying to demonstrate with the characters in the various stories because
it makes them seem more real and it makes the stories seem like they are coming to life. If Alexie did
not reply on this rhetoric strategy the characters would collapse and be dull, but the characters is what
gives the story life. In the stories the characters go through several dilemmas such as in the first
chapter families fighting with each other, substance abuse as well as detestable living conditions.
When they search for something it lead many of the characters in his book to imagine, desire, and look

Sports Banquet Observation
Celebration of events of all types occur daily for varying reasons, each of which serves a purpose that
fulfills the needs of the individual hosting it. The type of event I will host is an up scale suit and tie
sports banquet event. This will be a fundraiser used to secure donations for the support of the Hurst
Euless Bedford youth sports program. The purpose or mission of this project is to provide the
necessary monies for the involvement and participation of the youth of the area suffering from

The Special Relationship Between The Uk And The United States
It was only because of the special relationship with the USA that Britain could exert an influence on
international affairs in the years 1951 to 2007. Assess the validity of this view.
The Special Relationship between the UK and the US relates to the unusually close relationship
between these two world powers that has developed over the 20th and 21st centuries. They have an
incredibly tight co operation on such a wide variety of things, ranging from trade and economics to
military power, nuclear weapons and intelligence; one that is almost unprecedented in history for two
separate nations. After the Second World War, when the relationship was crystallised by the term it
became one as much of personal friendships as of political power; and given the closeness developed
between the two nations as a result of wartime, it became a keystone of post war politics in both
countries, having significant impact in both of their subsequent histories, and also those of other
nations. Some of these relationships have been iconic in their pairings: Margaret Thatcher and Ronald
Reagan; Tony Blair and George Bush; Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt (who were in fact related);
whilst others have been less fruitful Anthony Eden, a man previously considered to be the authority of
his time on foreign policy, having been Foreign Secretary for 30 years, had to resign as Prime Minister
following the Suez Crisis and its resultant deterioration of the trust and relationship he had with

The European Union Decision-Making Procedure Essay

Denmark, France, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Slovenia,
Lithuania, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Slovakia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Malta,
Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey.)
Decision making at the European Union comprises three main institutions; the European Commission
(comprises all the member states), the European Parliament (its composition is governed by the
founding treaties, and the Act of September 20, 1976 on election of members of the European
Parliament by direct universal suffrage.) and the Council of the European Union (comprises of

The proposal will then be returned back to the Commission for consideration of the amendments

policy, agriculture, discrimination instances, transport, competition rules, visas, immigration and
asylum cases, enhanced cooperation and European Union citizenship .
The assent procedure reiterates that the European council in reaching a decision alone must obtain the
consent of the European Parliament before hand. The decision on the proposed legislation should not
be one that seeks to amend the proposal but rather accept it as it is or reject it as it is; the majority vote
carries the day. Article 16 of the European Union affirms that the Council must act by a qualified
majority unless waived by a subject treaty. Protocol No. 36 on the Transitional provisions on qualified
majority that is valid till October 2014 proposes that Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom
shall bear 29 votes each while Spain and Poland shall carry 27 votes each. Netherlands have 13 votes,

White Elephant Symbolism
The short story Hills Like White Elephant starts with detailed description of a train station in Spain
which turns into a dialog between an unmarried couple about an abortion. The story setting plays a big
role in how the characters will act and how they will express their feelings. Along with the setting
location, the time also plays an important role in the story. Hemingway uses a lot of symbols and
figurative language of speech, so the time of the story was not clear for most of the readers. However,
the story happened during the mid day during a very hot summer day which has a very important
symbolism in the story. The mid day represents that the day is not over, which symbolizes that they
not have made they decision. The couple were at a critical moment of their relationship, which is
when they must decide whether or not to have an abortion. Certain themes arise from this story such
as choices and their consequences, doubt and ambiguity. The hills across the valley of the Ebro were
long and white. On this side there was no shade and no trees and the station was between two lines of
rails in the sun. [...] The American and the girl with him sat at a table in the shade, outside the
building. It was very hot and the express from Barcelona would come in forty minutes. It stopped at
this junction for two minutes and went to Madrid (Page 176) The girl views having the child as a
blessing and a great gift. However, the American sees it as an expenses and an obligation to

A Reflection On The Bereavement Period
Death may be seen as one s final journey in life. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary (n.d.),
death is the permanent cessation of all vital organ systems, specifically the circulatory and respiratory
systems. Throughout the dying process, nurses play a vital role in caring for both the patient as well as
their family. In order to properly and effectively care for the dying patient and their family, the nurse
must first examine their beliefs and feelings regarding death and the dying process. It is important to
have a deep understanding that while all people may experience grief with the loss of a loved one,
how that grief is expressed may be influenced by many different factors. This paper will define and
explain the bereavement period, the nurse s role in disenfranchised grief, as well as the four tasks of
mourning.
Bereavement Period The bereavement period is the public or external display of mourning following
the death of a loved one. Bereavement is a vital, yet often overlooked, area of care. Cooley (1992)
proves that the earlier interventions are started, negative outcomes of grief are minimized. The
bereavement period is often an unpredictable and complex style of care that requires continuous
adjustment for the nurse (Johnson, 2015). When experiencing bereavement, it can be seen as one
trying to adjust to the loss of a loved one (Cooley, 1992). The length of the bereavement period often
depends on several factors such as the age at the time of loss, the

There is not only one theory that why people become addictive to drugs, however there is always a
combinations of many factors. Here are the major two theories as to why this social problem of drug
abuse exists in the society. Firstly, The genetic theory (Schukit. P.no 452. Theories On Drug Abuse ) is
related to biological aspects. Genetic factor plays a pivotal role in the physiological drive of an
individual. Genetic theory means transmission of genes to children by their parents. An individual
may become addictive to the substance if any of his ancestor was also addicted to that same substance.
Secondly, Self esteem theory (Howar B. Kaplan,Phd. Pno157. Theories On Drug Abuse ), this theory
is based upon self esteem motives. The key variables of self esteem theory are drug availability,
feelings of inferiority or superiority, social pressure/acceptability, coping mechanism, immediate
gratification and life style. People falls under the theory of self esteem become dependents of illicit
substances like hallucinogens, barbiturates, amphetamines, marijuana and alcohol. These substances
are observed as an alternative action to self rejecting attitudes.
At three levels the social issue of drug and addiction can be seen in society. These three levels are
Micro, Macro and Meso. The social issue under Micro level theory of drug abuse and addiction

A Report On The City Of Pakistan
After gazing on Mughal monuments and feeling the beat of pounding drums at Sufi shrines in Lahore,
many travelers choose to head south to Pakistan s financial capital, Karahi for some fun in the sun,
upscale nightclubs, and modern skyscrapers. From rambling through the ramparts of Old Lahore to an
all night beach rave in Karachi, you might be in for a culture shock, but here s how to get there. Train
The cheapest option is the train. The Fareed Express #38DN leaves Lahore every morning at 10:00am
and arrives in Karachi at 12:35pm the next day. That means your train journey will be at least 26 1/2
hours if the train is running on time. Trains in Pakistan are not known to be exceptionally punctual or
safe. There are 5 possible classes for this train, including the full berth AC class for 1810 rupees ($23),
the full berth EC (Economy) for 790 rupees ($10), a full seat in economy for 710 rupees ($8.90), a
half berth for 480 rupees ($6) and a half seat for 400 rupees ($5). Sitting on half of a seat for 26 hours
is certainly not the most comfortable way to travel to Karachi, but it is the cheapest. To see fares,
timetables, and addresses of booking agents, you can check out Pakistan Railways online. Tickets are
usually booked through a travel agent in order to avoid the inevitable chaos on the station. Bus A safer,

Carl Jung s Major Accomplishments
The purpose of this paper is to look into the life and accomplishments of a well known psychoanalyst,

Jung was born in Kesswil, Switzerland on July 26, 1875 and moved to Laufen shortly after (Jung,
1971; Jung, 1989, p. 6). Jung (1989) discusses a night where his father walked back and forth with
him in his arms, singing, while he had a fever and could not go to sleep. He found out later that he had
eczema and believed that this caused marital problems between his parents. Jung speculated that his

Freud on ego. He explains that ego does house our fears, but argues that this is only the case if it does

art, and is to remain influential throughout Korean history up to present history.
Trading with China started at about 100 BC. Up to this time, Korean art remained distinctly different
from its massive neighbor. Korean art reflected or was categorized, prior to Chinese influence, as
Scytho Siberian style. A style that is indigenous in the country of Scythia, near the Black and Aral

into their art. Then trade started with China and escalated, way into the modern period. One sees

his origins, literature, philosophy and history in his art. The world that he presents in his works is a
mixture of natural, human and cultural values. There is constant renewal, experimentation and utter
dedication to the craft of poetry in his works. Of all the poets in our course, WB Yeats is easily our
favorite. His poetry has a dynamic quality. Several aspects of his poetry that appeal the most to us are
the political or polemical dimension to his work, his use of nature as a theme and his reflection on old
age, body and the soul and finally his discussion on mysticism and reincarnation of the ... Show more

One of the most important aims of poetry is to give the reader aesthetic pleasure. But what is more
important is that it should present reality truthfully and defend human values artistically. It should
envision a society where people can live a better life. Yeats did just that. The greatness of his poetry
lies in the fact that it interprets the contemporary political events within the framework of a
philosophical system. All the great poets speak of people and rise above the petty politics of their
class. The cross the boundary of politics and enter into the realm of philosophy. Yeats too rose above
the ephemerality of politics and made an attempt to achieve permanence in poetry by following the
philosophical system. Being from an Anglo Irish family, he could have easily gone to the English side
but what he chose was to represent the repressed Irish people. He was a nationalist but he spoke of all
nations colonized by the British. He had a special sympathy for India. As a poet he was concerned
with human values and believed that there should be a proper balance between the matter and

Ku Klux Klan Essay
Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan is a secret society based on hatred and violence. The Klan claims that it stands for
only law abiding rallies and activities, but the Klan has been known for having hypocritical views
throughout it s existence. No matter where the Klan is headed, violence is sure to be the destination.
The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan claim that the Bible is on their side. They claim that the
Bible condones their activity. Nowhere in the Bible is killing thy neighbor encouraged. They claim
they are not out to destroy America, but rather to save it. How is it possible to save America with hate
and violence? The Klan exists only to hold onto the beliefs of the Confederacy, but hanging on to the

Also, a sentimental thought was present in adopting the color scheme, as white and red were the
Confederate colors. Be it said to the credit of the women of the South who designed and made with
their own hands more than four hundred thousand of these Klan robes for both horses and riders, not a
word was said by these women to anyone about them and not one single secret concerning them was
ever revealed. page 8 of Ku Klux Klan, A Century of Infamy by William Pierce Randel
This account was published in 1924. The six founders were unable to fill a complement of den
officers. At first there was no Grand Scribe. The original den leader, Frank
McCord was called Grand Cyclops; his chief lieutenant, known as Grand Magi, was Captain Kennedy.
James Crowe was chosen
Grand Turk, a kind of marshal or master of ceremonies.
Calvin Jones and Captain Lester were Night Hawks, or couriers, and Richard Reed was the first Lictor
or outer guard. New titles were created for the next few members to join. After these positions were
filled, the new members were to be called Ghouls.
The name of this secret organization was one of the first things that was discussed. They wanted a
name that was original and one that would send a tingle down the spine of their victims. The title
came from a Greek word kuklos which means a band or circle. James Crowe suggested that the word
be split in two and

The Human Brain, And Psychology
Catherine Rhode looked out the window of her studio apartment in New York City. It was dead silent
and the only thing keeping her company were her thoughts. She was looking at a picture of her and
her family, before she had run away. She could remember that night like it was yesterday. She was
only 16. She had been in a serious argument with her family for a few hours about her and her future.
Everyone in her family wanted her to be a doctor, to help save lives. No one had supported her
decision to study the human brain, and psychology. So, that night, she packed a large backpack, and
left when no one was awake.
Screaming from the apartment next door woke her from her thoughts. They must be playing video
games... again. she thought to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thinking back was always painful to Catherine. The clock hit 2:00 pm and she walked out to the
lobby area to greet the mother of three. Just remember, her name is Hadley Johnson, Catherine told
herself, almost forgetting Hadleys name. Hadley Johnson? Catherine called out, scanning the chairs
for Hadley. That s me, a ginger haired woman told her, with warm brown eyes. At around 5 4 , Hadley
only reached Catherine s shoulder. Follow me to my office please, Catherine told the short woman.
When they finally reached her office and sat down, Catherine started to introduce herself. Hello, my
name is Catherine Rhode. But please, call me Cat. Now before we get into anything personal, I want
to make sure that we both know what will be happening. Now, every Tuesday at 2:00 pm we will have
a 45 minute session. That is our baseline, for now. I will end up changing it depending on what we
will end up discussing in a few minutes, and what progress we make after each session. And just
remember, anything you tell me is confidential, unless it puts you, me, or any other person in danger.
Are we clear so far? The woman nodded. Catherine took this as a yes and continued on. Now, putting
that aside, let s being by just doing a short introduction. We will just be getting to know each other a
bit. And where you stand with your situation. Now, can you tell me what happened

Does Better Education Necessarily Lead to a Better...
Education is the key to a greater society. Education has become a necessity in our fast paced
globalizing society and is undoubtedly they key to a greater society. Therefore, in order to understand
if better education leads to a better standard of living, we have to first note that a better standard of
living means an improved condition of which people live by, indicated by factors such as increased
literacy rates, mortality rates and perhaps, a better education referred to as better educational
qualifications in the form of training, certification or knowledge. Hence, we see that education has
become necessary in order to alleviate our living standards and the key to the progress of our society.
However, this does not hold true for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Living standards of these individuals thus remain very low, with education being unable to pull them
out of the poverty they live in.
Better education also does not necessarily lead to a better standard of living as the increasingly
competitive society may act as a barrier to one s ability to find employment in a society where grades
are everything. Many university graduates are finding it increasingly difficult to find a job with an
income that a university graduate with a degree should command and may remain jobless months after
they graduate. An increasingly competitive society has led to the discrimination of those who are not
as smart as others and has left many stranded, struggling to maintain relevant in skills of abilities in
this fast paced society. Hence, a better education can also be a double edged sword, while alleviating
the living standards of some, it has perpetuated the lack of ability for others to survive in a society
with increasing commodity prices and living expenses. Furthermore, better education in an
increasingly affluent society translates to a university education, and those who are unable to receive a
high level of education, and are only able to attain education up to high school are discriminated, only
able to find jobs which pay a low salary. While a high school education may be good enough in some
societies, an increasingly affluent society will not be able to accept such a

Some of the most devastating earthquakes in our modern era have occurred along the San Andreas fault line, due to dense population that resides near it. The most notable and destructive earthquake on the San Andreas fault line occurred in San Francisco in 1906. The reason this earthquake was so deadly was due to its magnitude and the poor preparation by the city. The city seemed to rebuild nearly the same way they had built the city when it was first founded in 1776, with a few adaptations to their buildings like steel frames and more modern designs. • 5. The Revitalization Of The Sears Concourse Building Is it possible for a community to entrust artists with the responsibility of redeveloping a neighborhood? After all, doubts are understandable; artists are better at being artists and developers are best at being developers. As a matter of fact, does an artist/real estate developer even exist? Just the mere thought seems impractical. Although this may be true in most cities, Memphis, Tennessee is currently in the middle of a Renaissance, and artists are leading the way. The anchor of this Renaissance is the revitalization of The Sears Concourse building. The Art Deco 1.5 million square foot structure built in 1927 was once a source of pride for the city, attracting 30,000 visitors at its grand opening to marvel at its decadence and eventually serving as a distribution hub for 50 years. Employing 1500 people and attracting thousands of visitors per day in the department store, it was an economic pillar of the Crosstown neighborhood. However, in 2010, the building standing empty for 22 years, became an eyesore that Crosstown co founder Todd Richardson describes as a beacon of hope that is now a disappointing reminder of unmet expectations for the city . The surrounding neighborhood would keep hoping sooner or later, someone would eventually solve the dilemma of what to do with so much space that had been empty for so long. • 12. Analysis Of Foucault And Queer Theory In Foucault and Queer Theory Spargo defines queer theory as a nebulous group of cultural criticism and analysis of social power structures relating to sexuality . It is these power structures and aspects of culture that are responsible for the discourse that creates and informs ones understanding of gender, race, and sexuality. However these aspects of identity do not exist separately from one another, but are constructed in tandem throughout history. These layers of identity inform each other in a way that is difficult if not impossible to separate. They do not act independently with an additive effect but intersect constructing their own unique set of experiences and perspectives. In this paper I will be exploring queer theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Spargo s interpretation of Foucault the hegemonic ideal sexual subject is that of a straight man, who is presumably white and middle class. According to Foucault the category of homosexual emerged in the 19th century out of the development of the field of sexology, when medicine replaced religion as the primary producer of discourse on sexuality, and enforcer of (hetero)sexual norms . Foucault argues that despite their relative position individuals categorised as homosexual were able to create their own discourse (or counter discourses) to the narrative on unnaturalness promoted by sexology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, thus finding agency within constraining discourses . In this way sexuality and sexual subjects are constructed, understood and questioned through the discourse produced by those individuals and institutions with access to power. Spargo goes on to address some of the criticisms of Foucault and how these failing have been addressed as queer theory has developed. The most significant of these criticism as addressed by Spargo was Foucault s focus on masculine sexualities . Spargo explores the relationship of the production of sexuality to gender through a discussion of Judith Butler. Butler argues that gender is produced and understood via cultural discourse in the same way as sexuality . Gender according to Butler is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God told Adam and Eve that they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of knowledge. The Importance Of Social Media Perez 1 Krystal Perez Professor Sharifian GOVT 2305 71432 October 30, 2017 Assignment Two Social media has been radically changing the way we communicate in recent years. For government officials, social media has become a helpful tool in outreach to its constituents. 1 Take the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections, for instance. Candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump used social media, especially Twitter, as a medium to spread awareness and rally public opinion. However, with all forms of communication, one must take caution when sending a message. Government officials are no different than any average social media user, and they too, must use social media sites wisely. Although social media can make a government official s job easier in communicating with constituents, it can also be damaging to their career if one is not careful. When using social media, government officials must think before they post, and they must think carefully when choosing someone to manage their social media accounts. Before one posts on social media, they must question the content and the tone of their message. This tip is not only useful to private citizens, but for government officials as well. There are four suggestions a government official can follow before they post on social media. First, one should articulate, or voice out, their ideas. • 24. The Special Relationship Between The Uk And The United States It was only because of the special relationship with the USA that Britain could exert an influence on international affairs in the years 1951 to 2007. Assess the validity of this view. The Special Relationship between the UK and the US relates to the unusually close relationship between these two world powers that has developed over the 20th and 21st centuries. They have an incredibly tight co operation on such a wide variety of things, ranging from trade and economics to military power, nuclear weapons and intelligence; one that is almost unprecedented in history for two separate nations. After the Second World War, when the relationship was crystallised by the term it became one as much of personal friendships as of political power; and given the closeness developed between the two nations as a result of wartime, it became a keystone of post war politics in both countries, having significant impact in both of their subsequent histories, and also those of other nations. Some of these relationships have been iconic in their pairings: Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan; Tony Blair and George Bush; Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt (who were in fact related); whilst others have been less fruitful Anthony Eden, a man previously considered to be the authority of his time on foreign policy, having been Foreign Secretary for 30 years, had to resign as Prime Minister following the Suez Crisis and its resultant deterioration of the trust and relationship he had with ... • 27. White Elephant Symbolism The short story Hills Like White Elephant starts with detailed description of a train station in Spain which turns into a dialog between an unmarried couple about an abortion. The story setting plays a big role in how the characters will act and how they will express their feelings. Along with the setting location, the time also plays an important role in the story. Hemingway uses a lot of symbols and figurative language of speech, so the time of the story was not clear for most of the readers. However, the story happened during the mid day during a very hot summer day which has a very important symbolism in the story. The mid day represents that the day is not over, which symbolizes that they not have made they decision. The couple were at a critical moment of their relationship, which is when they must decide whether or not to have an abortion. Certain themes arise from this story such as choices and their consequences, doubt and ambiguity. The hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white. • 28. A Reflection On The Bereavement Period Death may be seen as one s final journey in life. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary (n.d.), death is the permanent cessation of all vital organ systems, specifically the circulatory and respiratory systems. Throughout the dying process, nurses play a vital role in caring for both the patient as well as their family. In order to properly and effectively care for the dying patient and their family, the nurse must first examine their beliefs and feelings regarding death and the dying process. It is important to have a deep understanding that while all people may experience grief with the loss of a loved one, how that grief is expressed may be influenced by many different factors. This paper will define and explain the bereavement period, the nurse s role in disenfranchised grief, as well as the four tasks of mourning. Bereavement Period The bereavement period is the public or external display of mourning following the death of a loved one. Bereavement is a vital, yet often overlooked, area of care. Cooley (1992) proves that the earlier interventions are started, negative outcomes of grief are minimized. The bereavement period is often an unpredictable and complex style of care that requires continuous adjustment for the nurse (Johnson, 2015). When experiencing bereavement, it can be seen as one trying to adjust to the loss of a loved one (Cooley, 1992). The length of the bereavement period often depends on several factors such as the age at the time of loss, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
