Impact of the Cognitive Distortion
The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving in. I feel
pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation . After this kind of
thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry at myself but the next

This past Sunday I spent a few hours at the Port of Miami aboard Carnival s Vista cruise ship for the
release of four new beers that will be served aboard the Carnival Horizon. The new beers will be
served in Guy s Pig Anchor Bar B Que Smokehouse|Brewhouse. The restaurant will combine the best
of both worlds, a restaurant featuring BBQ developed by Food Network star Guy Fieri and a brewery
whose beers are built around the smokey BBQ laden menu. The Brewhouse portion will be under the
control of Master Brewer Colin Presby who has spent the last couple of years manning the Brewhouse

As part of the festivities, a firkin of the Farmhouse Ale was tapped by Carnival Vice President of
Beverage Operations Edward Allen. Out of the four, the Farmhouse was my favorite. It had just
enough barnyard funk to keep me coming back for more. The malts for the Smoked Porter are smoked
on board using the ships smoker. The smoke wasn t overpowering and I think it will pair nicely with
the smoked BBQ. The West Coast IPA is hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial hops. While
the aroma and taste of pine and citrus begin to blast your senses it finishes with a malty backbone. The
refreshing Toasted Amber Ale gives off notes of lite caramel and biscuity malts. I m sure all four
offerings will be welcomed with open arms aboard the Horizon. While they are all tasty in their own
right, I think the flavor profile was dialed back a touch to appeal to a wider audience. Craft beer

On 4/25/18 I met Ms. Bambrick for her follow up an appointment with Psychiatrist Dr. Hillenberg.
Ms. Bambrick wants a provider to work with her in coping with the life changing the aspect of this
injury and recovery and coordinating her pain medications during her recovery. Her goal is to reduce
her pain and her pain medication needs at some point. Unfortunately, Dr. Hillenberg is going to retire
and is focusing more on the management end of his practice. He did, however, make some
recommendations. Ms. Bambrick needs a psychiatrist and a psychologist who will work with her PCP
Dr. Horrigan in managing her pain medications. He is providing her with a pain recovery workbook,

In Barn Burning, Faulkner s usual style of long sentences and detailed descriptions continues.
Although the run on sentences are not quite as complicated or abundant as those of the other Faulkner
works we have read, I still found myself wondering to some extent what the story was really about.
Was it just about a bitter man s spitefulness toward Colonel de Spain as a result of his jealousy of the
colonel s status? Or was there more to it? I also was left wondering why Faulkner did not refer to
Sarty by name most of the time, but rather as the boy. Did he want the reader to be less identified with

Faulkner uses he said to connotate the dialogue, but since there are two he characters in this particular
case, it is difficult to figure out which one Faulkner is referring to.
On a different note, I did notice that Faulkner once again placed several references and emphasis on
eyes, especially the father s. On page 16, the narrator says the gray eyes glinted coldly in reference to
the father s eyes. The father s cold eyes are again described on page 19. The reference to people s eyes
remingded me of descriptions of Dilsey s eyes from The Sound and the Fury and Charlotte s eyes
from The Wild Palms. I thought it was interesting to see the recurrence of emphasis on the character s
eyes.
Shingles for the Lord much easier to read than even Barn Burning. The story was very straight foward
and simplified, unlike much of Faulkner s other work we have read. I found myself reading through it
very quickly without having to stop to reread something. The language was easy to understand, the
characters were clearly identified, and there was not an abundance of run on sentences.
I found Pap to be a quite intriguing character. It was strange that every action he took was motivated
by spite and his contempt for the other characters, much like the father from Barn Burning. The two
men almost sound as though they could be the same character. The story is told from the familiar first

Maureen walked into his head when she looked at his Disney drawing. She was able to know how he
was feeling when he drew his pictures. She caused him to step out of his world and to interact with
others in the class. Once again Disney helped him again with another social hurdle. Owen began
talking to a girl, which is something that he was incapable of controlling his senses. This was a bridge
that was beginning to build with art from Owen s world to the outside world (Suskind, 2015). This is
when he let his families know that he wanted to go to college and he started at Riverview that is a
