Seed Drill In The 1500s
Imagine that it was the 1500s and you were in your garden trying to plant 100 seeds, but out of the
100 seeds you planted, only one actually grew into a plant/vegetable/fruit. This was how farming and
agriculture was before machinery, such as the seed drill, invented in 1566. Farmers/workers would
carry a bag full of seeds and would walk up and down the field randomly throwing seeds into the
ground. Seeds were wasted in the process, so it wasn t very useful, and also took up a lot of energy,
even though it was much cheaper to do. In the 1500s, if you were bad at farming, you weren t so lucky
and would have probably starved/died. So, how did the seed drill help for those that struggled and also
make farming easier? Jethro Tull improved the seed drill in 1782, a horse drawn rotating cylinder that
deposited seeds into the ground. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This meaned less work for farmers and workers because the seed drill deposited seeds in straight lines,
and also covered it after with dirt; it was all done manually.Sandra King quotes, The tiny seed knew

light. To conclude, the seed drill was an important invention that impacted agriculture by introducing a
new and easier method of planting seeds in the

Folk Culture In Bell Hooks s Let The Good Times Roll
With our modern day technology and ever changing society, it is important to keep folk cultures alive
and not allow them to slip away. Piecing it all Together by bell hooks describes how she remembers
her grandmother patiently and skillfully telling the story of her life through the art of sewing a tedious
quilt. Chris Rose in his article Let the Good Times Roll depicts the tragedy, perseverance of a
community, and the total comment from all to rise up and move on and celebrate their heritage and
traditions. Folk cultures are the backbones that shape and mold every individual during their lifetime
blending together traditions and skills, foods, beliefs, heritage and shared values that are taught and/or
passed down from generation to generation, providing a common identity or direction for people
within a family or community.
The preservation of traditions and skills is an important part of our community and family history. As
Rose stated in Let the Good Times Roll , It is the harmonic convenience of our food, our music, our
creativity, our eccentricity, our neighborhoods, and our joy of living. All at once (361). During the fall
of every year, towns across Georgia host a festival of some sort. Whether it be the Yellow Daisy
Festival at Stone Mountain Park or the Friendship Festival in Social Circle, local artist and craftsmen
come together to display and sell their handmade items. Ranging from patch worked quilts to bird
feeders to hand smocked children s

The Psychology Of Games And Gamers
The Psychology of Games and Gamers What is a Gamer? This question is thrown around today with
more accusations and people trying to defend themselves than anyone had thought possible before. A
gamer used to be someone who simply played games, but now it s been branched off into so many
different types of gamers. The main types I will be focusing on are as follows:
The Casual Gamer Someone who primarily plays casual games or plays games less frequently than
others.
The Core Gamer A player with a wider range of interests than a casual gamer. More likely to play
different types of games.
The Hardcore Gamer Players that are usually very competitive, usually are tech savvy, prefer to play
games that have depth and complexity.
The Pro Gamer Players that play on a professional level, usually deeply study one specific genre or
type of game to master and play it in competitions.
These types of gamers are the main builds of the gaming community, and, without them, the
community of gaming as we know it would be non existent.
These gamer types tend to play different types of games stretching from adventure, action, role
playing games (RPGs), and many more. The list is actually too long for me to name in this one paper.
Scientifically, each type of game has been shown to help people on a physiological level. First person
shooting games, for instance, have been shown to increase reflexes, hand eye coordination, and
multitasking skills, while RPGs

The Kite runner is the first novel by Afghan American author Khaled Hosseini, published in 2003 by

The kite runner is a vivid and engaging story that gives a picture of how long Afghanis struggled to

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving
As much as we would like to, we can t plan for everything. Long before we re even aware of them,
these things happen and it s only within our control to make the best of it. One way I ve made the most
out of a decision I couldn t control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a place I
grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of change scared
me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known.
The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my parents
asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of course no,
why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most importantly my
friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn t push much after that, they weren t too serious about it
after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both agreed that with how
young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move.
I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same
high school both of my siblings did with my best friends at my side. I was shocked when sophomore

My family vacationed to Los Angeles when I was eleven years old. I remember the beach, the

would be moving to, but that couldn t be further from the truth. June 29, 2014 is a date forever burned
into mind. After hugging the life out of all of my friends and kissing the walls of my childhood home,
it was time to leave. The plane ride from O Hare Airport to LAX was the longest four hours of my life.

Willy, By William Shakespeare Essay
The most obvious thing about Willy is that he functions off the lies that he has told himself. He has
convinced himself that he is good at his job and well liked, when the truth is, he is neither. Throughout
the play, Willy switches between the present and scenes from the past as he recounts events of the
past. Some believe that this is a sign of dementia, however, it appears to be a way for him to escape
the truth of his situation and the reality of who his sons are.
In the play, Willy puts the expectation of success upon himself and Biff. He desires to have the
American dream and he convinces himself that he has achieved it despite the fact that he has to
borrow money from his neighbour Charley in order to pay his bills each week. When he learns that
Biff has tried to get a loan to start a business, he commits suicide so that Biff will have the money that
he needs. This is the biggest example of the fact that Willy did not live in reality because if he did he
would have realized that the chances of Biff actually using the money to build a business was nil. This
is because Biff is the manifestation of all of Willy s negative attributes both real and imagined.
However, unlike Happy who has embraced the American Dream to his own detriment. Biff cannot
allow himself to do this.
Willy s responsibility for the situation that his family is in is rather substantial. It is his inability to face
the truth that was the cause of his family s downfall. First, he refused to accept

16 December 2015 Over the course of this class I have learned things that I didn t know before and
developing as a writer. I learned different things with each of the assignments I submitted. I learned
things like how to develop my writing and how to transition my writing to flow better together. I
learned to correctly cite in text citations and I learned how to create a profile. Each of these things I
will carry with me as I continue to write for various classes or other reasons in the future and they will
continue to help me better myself as writer. The five student outcomes have helped me to better

I then submitted my final draft to iNet. My topic for my research paper was technology s impact on
today s society. I talked about the positive and negative impacts technology has on our society
everyday and I was able to give evidence of my ideas with information I found when researching. I
explained that technology has helped with finding new ways to teach students including those with
disabilities and how it has helped to advance the health and medicinal field. I also explained some
downsides such as the addiction and absence of face to face interaction that come along with
technology. Each of my assignments for this class included revising and editing at the attempt to hand
in the best possible work. I made sure I read over my work before handing it in to assure that there
were little to no grammatical or spelling errors. My biggest struggle in this area was working on
transitions and organization throughout my assignments to make sure my paper flowed better as a
whole.
Conduct research, which uses traditional and electronic search techniques and integrates source
materials is the second student outcome. I used this a ton when writing my research paper as well as
many other assignments. Bianca Banova, author of the article The Impact of Technology on

Muslim Culture
Exactly what is considered as a Muslim? A Muslim is defined as a believer in Islam, however a Black
Muslim is considered as a member of the nation of Islam. A follower of the religion of Islam, as
Muslims, means one who submits to god. Muslims came in the seventeenth century with slaves from
Africa. The history of Muslim Americans goes back more than 400 years. America is called home for
the Muslims, they present as taxi drivers, homemakers, and also entertainers. Muslim Americans make
up at least one percent of the U.S. population ( Teaching Tolerance ).
Muslims are considered to have unique beliefs and traditions of their culture. For instance, one of their
beliefs is that hard work pays off. Seventy one percent agree that most people who want to get ahead
in the U.S. can make it if they re willing to work. ( Muslim Americans: Middle Class and Mostly
Mainstream ). Muslims were the first to establish awareness of astronomy. Their outlook and values
are extremely religious and very educated. They are worried about their life and how they re living.
Muslims are obligated to pray five times a day such as pre dawn, midday, afternoon, sunset, and night.
They believe that there is only one god, the religion of Abraham. I learned that Muslims who don t
pray five times a day are considered as living an ungodly life. However, I believe the opposite which
is that a person does not have to pray at a specific time every day, but rather when a person feels the
need to pray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From my research, I discovered that this organization is known for saying that they are not connected

We are dealing with evil at its roots and its roots are America. He says that the U.S. has become a

wage war against Muslims. (Mauro, Muslims of the America MOA ). MOA organization is constantly
monitored by Homeland Security. Homeland Security is an American organization considered to keep
America our country safe and secure against terrorism. There are five home secure mission such as,
prevent terrorism and enhancing security, secure and manage our borders, enforce and administer our
immigration laws, safeguard and secure cyberspace and ensure resilience to disasters. Lipton states an
article written by Ryan Mauro states that the Department of Homeland Security says MOA is linked to
Jamaat Ul Fuqra, a Pakistan militant group led by Gilani. In 1998, the State Department said Ul Fuqra
is an Islamic sect that seeks to purify Islam through violence. (Muslims of the America MOA.) I find
this information to be disturbing because in my readings I found out that MOA says Osama Bin Ladin
is a Saudi activist. An activist is someone that fights for their country and its people. I know Osama as

Civic Virtue In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics
Aristotle was a premier Greek philosopher who had some very interesting concepts on ethics, which
are collectively called the Nicomachean Ethics. His collection of work has led to the development of
many theories on the basis for human existence. The main question by Aristotle s series of lectures is
the bane of human existence. According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness (4). If anything promises
happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just as interested in other
areas such as virtue. His opinion of human ethical action is based on the rationality of human beings.
Being rational beings, human beings will always assess situations before making decisions. Virtue is
not only a predisposition found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as
understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community. Without a
sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with other
members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is made up
of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to think of others
when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such element is participation.
In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social activities. Taking part means
contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are socially acceptable. Any
community requires active participation of all its members, which is something that is really not seen
today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens, in addition to being actively
involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be able to be trusted. This is because
participation sometimes being involved means being accorded responsibility of communal assets.
They should be wasted, and they should not be used for individual gain. This is important because
sometimes people misuse things given to them by their communities, and forget that they are not
alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. Lastly, the last aspect of civic virtue

The Social Determinant Of Health
Introduction:
This research paper will focus on the social determinant of health involving access to clean water. We
have focused our research on the accessibility of safe water intake on First Nations Reserves in
Canada, we all know of the issues with limited access to safe water in other countries but we often
forget about our own issues at home here. Over a billion people in the world lack safe drinking water,
something that many of us in the Canada take for granted on a daily basis. As pointed out by Peter
Gleick, nearly three billion people live without access to adequate sanitation systems necessary for
reducing exposure to water related diseases 5. Throughout this paper we will explore different solution
options in order to prevent the spread of dangerous diseases through unsanitary water conditions. Our
research is going to express the importance of focusing on the issue we have at hand here in Canada
and increasing awareness for the issues here before worrying about other countries over seas.
Outbreaks of water borne infections include but are not limited to; E coli, Salmonella, Schistosoma,
Cholera vibrios and Hepatitis A. Thousands of people die every day worldwide from water related
diseases; these deaths include mostly children and elderly, with some of these incidents taking place in
Canada.
Analysis:
We know and hear of the issues in Africa and other developing countries all the time, there are
starving and thirsty children and families living in poor

Winged Victory Of Samothrace Analysis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also referred to as the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic
sculpture of The Greek goddess of victory, Nike. Created in 190 BC by an unknown artist and
constructed with parian marble, it stands at 5.57 meters although the goddess herself stands only at
2.75 meters. The sculpture was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace on a French
exploration led by amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. In its original setting, the Nike was
mounted on the prow of a stone ship in a temple, and was assumed to be overlooking the sanctuary of
the great gods on the island of Samothrace. The sculpture has been displayed at the most distinguished
museum in the world, the Louvre, in Paris, since 1884. Even in its current condition, this sculpture
continues to inspire many across the globe with its vision of victory and triumph. ... Show more

Ethics Of Care Ethics Paper
In 2013, Swift stated a clear majority of Americans (58%) say the drug should be legalized (1). Within
the past three years this number has increased. The Ethics of Care is related to this concept because it
has to do with taking a look at what is right and wrong. This system also takes a look at equality
within all. The development to sanction weed reflects the generally late accomplishment of the
development to legitimize gay marriage, which voters have likewise endorsed now in 14 states. Open
support for gay marriage, which Americans additionally overwhelmingly restricted before, has
expanded significantly, achieving larger part bolster in the most recent two years. The idea of

The Ethics of Care stands for an attempt to change moral intelligent talk from the usual focus on
justice rights, and fairness, to another system that merges clearly feminine qualities for example
focusing too much on relationships, kindness, and the communication between and those for who they
take care of. John Tronto argues that the definition of the term ethics of care is confusing due in part to
the lack of a central role it plays in moral. He argues that moral is engaged with human goodness, then
care would appear to assume a big role in this type of way of thinking. However, this is not the case
and Tronto further stresses the association between care and naturalness . The last thing just
mentioned term refers to the socially and culturally built roles where care is mainly assumed to be the
role of the woman. So, care loses the power to take a central role in moral

Roxane Gay Bad Feminist Summary
Roxane Gay s collection of essays, Bad Feminist, falls under third wave feminism. Third wave
feminists focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and social class. Gay talks about all of
these issues in her book, calling upon her own experiences as a Haitian American to explore the
intersectionality between growing up a woman and growing up biracially in America. More than
anything else in her book, Gay focuses on her imperfections as a human being that cause her to
interpret feminism differently from anyone else. We don t all have to believe in the same feminism,
she writes. Feminism can be pluralistic so long as we respect the different feminisms we carry with us,
so long as we give enough of a damn to try to minimize the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gay writes, A lot of ink is given over to mythologizing female friendships as curious, fragile
relationships that are always intensely fraught. Stop reading and writing what encourages this
mythology. Likewise, Gay challenges the notion that only books by women are given the title of
women s fiction, and that topics of marriage and children, and parenthood are primarily marketed
towards women when they concern both men and women. She argues against the stereotype of angry
feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape humor, they are sensitive
and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall term for women who does not
tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight for their rights, when men have not,
but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that
women might be more ambitious and focused because we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to
vote, to work outside the home, to work in environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the
universities of our choice, and we ve had to prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of
consideration. She also finds great offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon
the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive. This myth is like
heels and purses pretty, but designed to SLOW women down. Like many third wave feminists, Gay
fights to draw attention to these issues in order to change

An Inside Look at Superconducting Qubits Essay
Superconducting Qubits
Introduction and Background
The quantum computation has remarkably improved since the use of quan tum algorithms that have a
run time which is exponentially faster compared to classical algorithms. Implementation of theory for
practical computation presents various technological and scientific challenges. It is required that the
Qubits be entirely free from external noise while at the same time they need to be strongly coupled
amongst themselves using gates for computa tion. We need to construct the qubits such that their
degrees of freedom are independent of the noise in the environment. For example electronic spins or
spins of nuclei are isolated from surrounding noise. In superconduct ing qubits ... Show more content

Superconductivity
On lowering the temperature of some metals (materials) to a scale of few kelvins the electrons
experience a net attractive force amongst themselves.
This is attraction is phonon mediated. As a result of bonding between two electrons near the Fermi
level the net energy decreases. The pair has a spin zero .The pairing process changes the Fermi level
and further formation of pairs takes place which can all occupy the ground state(zero spin state not
affected by Paulis exclusion principle). The entire resistance less flow of cooper paired electrons is
called as supercurrent . The superconducting state is lower in energy from the normal material state by
an amount of energy called the superconducting energy gap. ψ = n0.5 eiθ s Where ns cooper pair
density, θ is the superconducting phase.

Josephson effect
A junction formed by placing two superconducting chips with a thin insula tor in between is called
Josephson junction tunnel. We see that at sufficiently low temperatures such that thermal energy
cannot break the cooper pairs, these pairs tunnel from one superconducting electrode to another, even
in the absence of biasing voltage.

College Is Not For College
Many students do not go to college because of the steep cost to attend. There a lot of students and
families that support this claim, with some experts adding that other socio economic factors also
contribute to this issue. Additionally, there are many that think that not everyone needs to go to
college. Either way, some students still struggle to pay for their college education. Early exposure to
college provides a practical solution to this problem. While ninth grade is typically viewed as a good
time to start thinking about college, it would be more beneficial to students if they started before then
in middle school. Students would receive information about financial aid and admissions. They would
be able to plan which classes to take and activities to join in high school in order to obtain
scholarships and admission. Completing these actions will increase their chances of enrolling in
college. Although some people argue that college is not necessary for every student, it is still helpful
for students to have a plan after high school. Introducing students to college in middle school will
improve college access.
One benefit of early college exposure is that students and parents will receive more information on
financial aid and scholarships. For someone who is not familiar with the process to get to college,
locating and applying for scholarships and financial aid can be confusing. Early exposure eliminates
confusion by making this information available sooner to give

The Epic Quest For Oil, Money, And Power
The United States, once the world s largest producer and still its largest consumer, must import half of
its oil supply, weakening its overall strategic position and adding greatly to an already burdensome
trade deficit a precarious position for a great power (Yergin 14). So said Daniel Yergin in the prologue
of his 1990 bestseller The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power. Today, oil retains its
importance in the hydrocarbon societies of developed and developing countries as a major engine of
economic growth, but the story is not so simple. When Yergin wrote The Prize, the United States
seemed to be on an inevitable path toward instability and crisis as domestic reserves, long depleted,
forced oil imports and exports around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparing this to the world oil price in that same time period, there seems to be an overall positive
relationship between oil price and imports and exports. The price rises about $50/barrel over three
years until a sudden spike in 2007 2008, then drops dramatically before sharply rising again (Figure
2). The drop in total imports and exports in 2012 does not seem to be correlated with price, since there
is an upward trend in price from 2009 2013. Aside from that year, it appears that there is an overall
positive correlation between total imports and exports of oil and the price of oil, suggesting that
because oil is an essential commodity, demand is much more inelastic than supply. Thus, imports rise
when prices are high even though it is disadvantageous for importers because exporters are willing to
provide a larger quantity and importers are less sensitive to price.
To analyze whether this is true for individual countries requires further breaking down of the data. The
United States, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Germany are almost always in the top six for
importers and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates are almost always in
the top five for exporters, with the bottom half of the top ten importers and exporters varying year by
year. The top importers tend to be more static than the top exporters; that is, there are only about
eleven countries that switch up between the ten importing spots over that period whereas

approximate 1920 s, as the story was written forty years later. The tale is moving, in a sense, because
it is centered around a boy, his dogs, and their mutual love for each other. It is also about how Billy
hunts and skins raccoons with his dogs for fun, but if that is something you can overlook, then so be it.
Billy, being the main character, has many good and bad points, and is overall a good person. The story

Analysis Of Mama In A Raisin In The Sun
In the play A Raisin in the Sun Mama has the role of being a mother figure for all of the characters.
She is a very outgoing women who loves her family. Overall, Mama wants her family to succeed in
life. In addition, when it comes to momentous family decisions she does what she believes is best for
everyone. However, other members of family sometimes have contradicting beliefs, which makes
them feel like their house is matriarchal. I believe that their house is Matriarchal, but Mama s
decisiveness is for the best of everyone. In conclusion, Mama is not a tyrant because she makes
decisions for the best of her family, the money belongs to her, and she wants to see her dream come
true.
All of Mama s conclusions are made because she has hope that it will help her family in the future.
When she orders people to do things her reasoning is love. When Travis doesn t do his household
chores. Mama will do it, but not because she wants him to be spoiled, but for him experience a nice
life. Adding to that, she does not want Travis to learn how to work at a young age because then he will
never be able undergo that great life. With him not being able to have a nice live might result and his
dreams getting crushed. Mama once said to Ruth what you fix for his breakfast (Act1 sc2). Ruth then
became very defensive and made sure Mama knew she feeds Travis. In this Ruth is interpreting Mama
s intentions the wrong way. Mama is just checking in, so she knows that not only Travis is getting

Compare And Contrast The Southern Colonies And The New...
There are more differences amongst all the colonies than there are similarities. Two colonies that will
be discussed are the New England Colonies and The Southern Colonies. These two colonies are on
opposite ends of one another and have different obstacles they deal with daily. They both practice
religion; however one worships more than the other and the religious beliefs in the two are different.
Weather is hard to deal with in both colonies as they struggle differently; New England s weather is
brutally cold and The Southern Colonies deal with humid heat. The weather is a large factor when it
comes to their ways of the land and crops that are able to grow. New England was founded in 1630 by
Pilgrims. The layout of the land was mostly made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Farming in the New England colonies was a challenge. Due to the cold, long, and harsh winters, the
growing season was very short. The soil was also rocky, so farmers had to take all the rocks out of the
ground before planting. Due to these shortcomings, the farmers in the New England colonies only
farmed enough for their family, themselves, and their farm animals (Diamond). Due to this issue, they
didn t have much need for slaves because of the lack of crops. They also couldn t afford slaves
because for one they didn t have enough work to keep them busy and two they didn t have enough
crops to share. At first, the south also relied on the forests and the water, but tobacco and cotton later
emerged as cash crops. Initially these crops were harvested by indentured servants, but with the
growth of plantations, planters started to import slaves from Africa (Rosenzweig). So the opposite
goes for The Southern Colonies; they needed slaves to help with the large lands they owned. They
knew that without slaves their own family wouldn t be able to keep up with the land/crops so therefore
they hired several slaves to do

Ceramic Fragments Found At The Tepco Beach
In this project, we are asked to analyze ceramic fragments found at the TEPCO beach, which, in the
mid 20th century, used to be a dump site of the Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company
(TEPCO). Though ceramics seem rather mundane, as Deetz s study on the ceramics used in the
colonial American show, they reveal quite a bit to the careful eyes: he found out that people used
plates symbolically as displays of status rather than utensils, and the ceramic sets after the 18th
century reflected the Georgian mindset of individuality and discipline (Deetz 1996). I am also
interested in studying ceramics in a way that relates to and reveal their meanings a post processual,

Upon initial observation, I noticed that the special pieces seem to have less visual contrast in general a
good, testable hypothesis that I will try to verify. Methodology I wanted to figure out specifically what
data are the most useful in answering my research question: just like Wilkie did in her Mardis Gras
research in which she determined a distinct set of data for each of her research question (Wilkie 2014).
With that in mind, I decided to simply focus on the data needed to verify my rather straightforward
hypothesis, that the special pieces have less visual contrast than the standard ones in general. There are
two attributes, as evident from the hypothesis, that I would need to know for each artifact: its specialty
whether the piece has special or standard decoration and its visual contrast. Given the visual nature of
both attributes, I decided that the only data I would need to collect are pictures of my artifacts. Next, I
needed to decide how I would analyze the photos in order to extract the two attributes, specialty and
contrast, so that I can test my hypothesis. A way of classifying specialty was determined by me as
such: while the standard pieces have decorations

He goes on to explain that effective, proactive people spend most of their time in Quadrant II. To
accomplish this I would take his advice and try to organize my week on Sundays and try to delegate
responsibility with goals in mind not set ways that they have to be done. For the interdependence
section, the idea of making emotional deposits as often as possible will allow one to feel better and
work more efficiently with everyone s needs in mind.
The major emotional deposits Covey talks about are; understanding the individual, attending to little
things, keeping commitments, clarifying expectations, and showing personal integrity. With the help
of these habits I feel like I could improve myself. Understanding someone is very important in
everyday activities and especially in business situations. You need to understand who your consumer
is as well as whom your co workers are. When you understand them on a deeper level you can relate
better and be more productive. Something I ve always believed in is the attention to little things matter
most. It shows people that you do care and pay attention. This ties in well with keeping commitments
because that is something that is not always a big deal but can mean a lot to people.

Absract:
The cell membrane of two strains of Psuedomonas aeruginosa, P22 and P201 were treated the sialic

Questions:
1.It is important to study sialic acid binding lectins because their glyco conjugates on the cell
membrane of microorganisms are usually associated with virulence factors that cause disease eg.
Streptococcus suis which has a high sialic acid content on its cell membrane causes infections in pigs
and humans resulting in cases of meningitis and endocartis. Sialic acid is also associated with P.
aeruginosa and the virulence it normally induces. Other lectins that are also of importance in
microbiology and/or cell biology are mannose binding lectins which are also associated with
virulence.
2.The agglutination is based on binding of the sialic acid to the cell membrane. To confirm that sialic
acid carbohyrates are responsible for the binding the cells can be stripped of sialic acid and the
experiment repeated.
The cells are treated with sialidase from C. Perfringens to remove sialic acid carbohydrates from the
cell surface membrane.
Cell are given a 6 hour growth period
Cells are then centrifuged and re suspended in sialidase and buffer and incubated to remove any sialic
acid carbohydrates.
Cells are then washed in PBS

Benefits Of A Hoodie
Clothing is mandatory in most places in the country. People often choose items they love, never
stopping to think about what their choices say about their personality. Don t let this happen. As many
places now offer custom printed items, a person can have an apparel item they love at less than what
they may imagine.
Printed hoodies remain a great way to stay warm when the weather turns cool. Why settle for a plain
hoodie, however, when a person can have one that truly reflects their interests and personalities?
Anyone can buy a hoodie with a brand name, but only a limited number of individuals will benefit
from wearing one with their school name or a club logo on it. This is a great way to show school spirit
when out and about, and the monies raised from the sale of these items will benefit the organization

hoodie to the gym or an exercise class, and everyone will find it easy to pull a hoodie on when they

Printed hoodies help to raise awareness of the school or club and do so at a very affordable price.

Determining Website Credibility Essay
Determining Website Credibility
Jessica Rojas
Chamberlain College of Nursing
Abstract
Advancements in technology have led people to be affected by an overflow of information. Many
websites contain information that is unmonitored making it difficult for nurses to obtain accurate,
credible information. It is essential for people such as health care professionals to know how to
determine the credibility of a website in order to ensure that the information being provided to the
patients is accurate. Nurses guide their practice by the use of evidence based practice and provide their
patients with information on a routine basis. Thus, it is important for them to ensure a website is
credible before providing the patient with any type of information. By the use of the criteria authority,
information, objectivity, ease of navigation, and privacy/security policies, nurses can more effectively
and efficiently determine website credibility. The criteria was applied to the Center for Disease
Control (CDC) website in order to determine the credibility of this website with satisfactory results.
Determining Website Credibility While advances in technology can be beneficial, the growing need to
have answers at our fingertips has contributed to issues with the credibility of websites. The internet is
bursting with information that can be obtained through search engines or databases. However,
problems arise when it comes to determining the accuracy behind the content obtained because some

Role Of Marketing Using Integrated Marketing...
In recent times, there has been a shift from mass marketing using mass communication to relationship
marketing using Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). This shift has developed an emphasis
on interaction and relationship building. IMC is the dominant communications marketing approach
favoured by many organisations as together the various communication functions create synergy
(Belch Belch, 2012, chapter 1) that consequently builds reputability; short term financial returns and
long term brand value (Schultz Schultz, 2003). This argument will be developed through a discussion
and examples of various IMC communication functions, with reference to the greater strategic results
are possible with the successful use of IMC these include but are not limited to the development of
relationships and brand identity and the ability to target various and specific audiences. The above will
be discussed with reference to theorists Belch and Belch (2012), Percy (2014) and Schultz and Schultz
(2003) among others, and the Tourism New Zealand 100% Pure New Zealand IMC campaign in order
to provide a cohesive and integrated argument.
In order to understand why IMC is the dominant approach; one must first have a cohesive
understanding of what IMC entails. IMC as Schultz and Schultz (2003), Clow and Baack (2007) and
Belch and Belch (2012) explain is a strategic business process whereby all marketing communication
tools and avenues are integrated seamlessly to ensure the greatest

William Blake The Lamb Meaning
William Blake s The Lamb is a part of the Songs of Innocence (1789) and was later accompanied by a
larger work, the Songs of Experience (1794). Blake expressed what he believed, and he wanted to
prove his true understanding of Christianity. His audience for his poem understood Christianity and
were familiar with the Bible. The poem establishes the theme of the vulnerability of innocence and a
vision of the speaker. The child s view is limited on account of unawareness of the total reality of
human knowledge. The voice of the poem is formed from a speaker that seems to be an innocent child,
communicating with a lamb who is unable to answer or respond to the child. The rhyme scheme is
similar to that of Dr. Seuss, it is like a nursery rhyme, and also a riddle. This is one of William s
simpler poems, but with a closer analysis it reveals hidden symbols, meaning, tones, and wordplay.
William Blake writes The Songs of Innocence, so this poem is obviously going to relate to some kind
of innocence. It is revealed in the second stanza when the speaker addresses the lamb as if it knows
who made it, and who gave it all of its features. However, the lamb or child does not answer, but of
course it would not answer. This then causes the speaker to answer his own questions. Which proves
that the lamb is too innocent to answer for itself. Dost thou know who made thee? /Little Lamb I ll tell
thee (10 11). This displays the wordplay in the poem because the reader asks questions and then

Cooper And Garner
Cooper Garner, (2012) speak of the three R s one of them being a relationship, trusting relationships
between teachers and students prime the brain for learning, activate willingness to cooperate, and
encourage excellence p. 4. Securing relationships with students will allow the classroom to develop
and stabilize into a learning classroom . As an educator, the focus can then be on facilitating
advancement in knowledge. I currently find that the development of a respectful relationship with
clinical students and new employees allows the facilitation of a conducive learning environment. Of
course as discussed in Cooper Garner, (2012) I believe that it then leads to a growth mindset allowing
for a more impactful learning experience.
Vygotsky s theories are particularly useful in the clinical setting. For instance, for the student nurse
scaffolding allows for the provision of support until a new skill is learned. Whereas, scaffolding in the
orientation of a new nurse as described in Slavin, (2015) Chapter 2 is part of a concept called
cognitive apprenticeship and entails one on one instruction p. 40. Another concept is that of
cooperative learning this is demonstrated in the nursing simulation laboratory as students learn to
develop critical thinking skills based on each other s actions and questions during simulation
scenarios.
In Slavin Chapter 6 the levels of processing theory are of particular interest as the more meaning or
emphasis placed on details the more likely you are to store it in your long term memory. As an
educator knowing what aspects of material to emphasize would behoove the students long term
memory of the important material. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was the lack of water. One of the things that made the Great Plains difficult to live in was the fact that
homesteaders barely had any water with them. Water was so difficult to find in the Great Plains that
the homesteaders either had the option of going all the way back to town to find water which was a

Character Analysis Of Ark Angel

English 9

Ark Angel Book Report A complex character is a character that has a variety of traits and different
sides to their personality. In this story, the complex character I chose was Alex Rider. This is because
throughout the story, he does many intriguing, engaging, and critical actions. This is what makes him
my complex character. Over the course of the story, Alex learns how to deal with and cope with
people trying to kill him. Analytically and effectively, he interacts with the characters in different ways
as the story goes on when he learns the good and bad people.
The novel starts off with Alex Rider in a hospital recovering from an assassination attempt caused by
the terrorist organization Scorpia. He meets a teen his age named Paul Drevin son of Russian
multibillionare Nikolei Drevin and host of the Ark Angel project and forms an alliance with him. This
action is complex because forming an alliance can be very difficult. Later, one night, a group of four
men arrive in the hospital in an attempt to kidnap Paul Drevin. Alex, in an attempt to rescue Paul,
pretends to be Paul himself and overpowers the four men, before eing knocked out by a fifth man.
This shows how complex he is. Alex is captured by the men and taken to an abandoned apartment.
The men reveal themselves to be Force Three, an eco terrorist group led by a man named Kaspar. Alex
proves that he is not Paul Drevin, but Force Three burns the tower and leaves Alex to die anyway he
escapes using a tightrope. Horowitz describes, I m not afraid of Force Three, he blustered. I m not
afraid of anyone (6). This quote shows how Rider is intriguing. Apparently grateful for Paul being
spared, Nikolei Drevin invites him to come and stay in luxury with him for two weeks. When Alex
arrives in Drevin s house, he befriends Paul, but decides to leave him and Drevin when they arrive in
New York. At the New York airport, Alex is taken to the CIA, who tells him that Drevin is a banker for
numerous criminal organizations. The CIA recruits Alex to continue his vacation with Drevin to
investigate him. When they arrive in Flamingo Bay, Drevin s private island, Drevin discovers that

Throne Of Blood Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa tells the story of a Japanese soldier who, after hearing a prophecy
told to him by an evil spirit, kills the Japanese king to assume his role. The film has been hailed by
many as the greatest rendition of Shakespeare s Macbeth of all time, surpassing even direct
reenactments of the classic in fidelity. Despite the fact that not a single line of dialog is shared
between the two works, Akira Kurosawa has managed to capture the essence of the original play in all
its glory. However, that is not say that the Throne of Blood is a complete carbon copy of Macbeth.
Although the film possesses the same basic storyline, Kurosawa s rendition of Macbeth has a set of
unique qualities that separate it from the original Shakespearean story. The same goes for Roman
Polanski s Macbeth, which, although slightly deviating from the original story, can be considered a
direct performance of the play. The argument of which play is better ... Show more content on

The Throne of Blood takes place in Japan, during a bloody civil war that seems may never stop. Much
like Macbeth, the movie tells the story of two men who meet a spirit in the woods who tells them of
their future. However, the themes present reflect differently in this rendition. Rather than being
centered around betrayal and ambition, most of the film s themes relate to the necessity of loyalty or
an honor of sorts, a trait that was much desired by many Japanese soldiers at that time. This new
loyalty centered theme can be seen vividly in the many scenes between Washizu and his wife, Asaji.
In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth taunts her husband s manhood in order to propel him to commit murder.
This action is in line with European thought at that time, where courage was the most desirable of
traits. Said themes are made evident in this quote; the scene in Macbeth preceding Duncan s

Alyssa Michaelides, a professor at Eastern Michigan University, describes this use of stereotyped sexy
women in ads and how this image [is used] to sell everything from cigarettes to clothing to household
items, and in this instance, cars (1). This ad, in some cases, can be seen as sexist, as the car is being
portrayed as a men s product and encourages the man to compare the value of the car and the woman
and the pleasure brought by both. Furthermore, it has been proven that sex sells, and this ad is
certainly no exception. In How Women Should Be Portrayed in Advertisements, the authors discuss
how women are too often portrayed as decorative [...] sex objects, and unfortunately, this
advertisement depicts just that (Roberts and Koggan 66). The woman in this Audi ad is dressed
somewhat promiscuously, and as mentioned earlier, the way she is dressed and visually portrayed,

Cougars as they talk things over. Hi I m Ryan Hobbes, I bet you re wondering what is happening. Well
I play for the Cougars varsity high school football team in New York. I m in 11th grade and I want to
go all the way. Anyway off of me, I m in a game right now versus our rival team the Dragons. I m the
top wide receiver on our team, but I have not gotten a lot of action this game. It s a close game and I
am listening to my coach in the timeout as he is very confident in us. The Cougars come back onto the
field in their huddle. They have two tight ends, two wide receivers, and a running back. The ball is
snapped quickly,

Dracula Themes
m guessing you probably know this guy. But, there s a lot more to the story of Count Dracula than just
one undead aristocrat biting people and making terrible cloak related fashion choices! In this lesson,
we ll go over the main characters in Bram Stoker s novel, Dracula, and how they relate to the main
themes of the novel.
First, we ll go over a few themes so you know what to look for. The novel Dracula is part of a genre
called Gothic fiction, which explores the breakdown of social order, control, and scientific
understanding. In Dracula specifically, the villain has supernatural powers that threaten science as a
way to understand the world. The heroes defeat Count Dracula by combining modern science with
knowledge of vampire legends, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wants to be closer to modern society, but as a vampire, it s hard for him to travel, and he s limited
by the need to rest near his native Transylvanian soil. In the story, he tries to solve these problems by
buying some land in London and filling it in with Transylvanian dirt, which is how he runs into our
heroes.
The Heroes
Now let s take a look at the good guys:
Jonathan Harker is a young British lawyer who ends up involved in Dracula s attempt to move to
London. He s the one who discovers Dracula s true nature as a vampire, and he leads the group of
heroes who join together to stop the vampire.
Van Helsing is an older scientist and professor who plays the experienced advisor to the other heroes.
He s first called in to save another character, Lucy Westenra, from a mysterious illness that turns out to
be Count Dracula draining her blood. He s done his homework on vampire legends, but he s also a
modern scientist, and he combines the two areas to help the team defeat Dracula. This ties into the
theme of the vampire as a threat to social order and scientific rationality; by defeating Dracula with
science, Van Helsing helps restore the proper order of things.
There are also two women in the group fighting Dracula, Mina and

Access Controls And Access Control
This chapter is basically based on access control in regards to computer information security. Access
control is seen as the fundamental mechanism put in place to help make information security
successful. Access control feature, in a particular system, will control how users can communicate,
access and modify system resources and programs. Access control was described in this chapter as a
very useful tool for the computer information security because it helps with ensuring that unauthorized
person or program have no access to what they are not supposed to. Access control is regarded as the
first line of defense to control, protect and monitor organization s resource s availability,
confidentiality and integrity.
Furthermore, this chapter illustrates how users can be granted access to network resources. It
explained that for a user to be allowed access to a network he must satisfy the condition of
identification and authentication. The identification part could be something of user ID, name or
account number. The identification key is not enough to grant access, but it s simply a way of
introducing yourself by saying who you are. Then, at that point the system will request for you to
authenticate yourself (confirm who you said you are) by requesting for an authentication key. The
authentication key could be password, passphrase, personal identification number (PIN), or a token.
Once, the authentication is verified and the system found it to be correct, then access will be

CRIJ 4330 Seminar on Correctional Problems

My research will be delivered to the Corrections Committee of the Texas House of Representatives.
The current members of the Correction Committee are: Jim Murphy who is the chairman, James
White who is the vice chairman, Alma A. Allen, Mark Keough, Matt Krause, Leighton Schubert, and
Tony Tinderholt ( Corrections , n.d.). The Chairman s (Jim Murphy) email is

Dear Corrections Committee Members, As the administrator of the Texas Prison System, I have been
investigating issues that are currently present in the correctional institutions across Texas. These issues
have come to my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These issues started out as minor issues, but due to the lack of attention they received, they have since
grown into major ones. My recent research is important due to the fact that these issues can no longer
be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to spiral out of
control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also, not only will the
system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not only benefit the
former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice system as well.
Overall, I hope you all understand my stance when it comes to taking action to resolve the issues the
criminal justice system is currently facing. I feel together we can accomplish this major task. Thank
you for your time.
Sincerely,
Linda Zarate, Administrator of the Texas Prison System

Personal Branding
Personal Branding is already conflicting with Company Branding outside the work place. A middle
school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about her students on Face Book
(Norwalk, 2010). A woman was fired after criticizing her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook,
2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the
fat paycheck against the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Entire sites
have been dedicated to helping employees build their personal brands without conflicting with their
company brand (Schawbel, 2009).
However, the issue of employee s personal branding will grow in the minds of middle management as
their private and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments will overlook small
statements against organizations because in the future most everyone will have at least made one
mistake (2010).
Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the individual
company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional level
strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow employees to
communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to
implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle
management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These
strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and talent in
their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the mission
statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities,
threats, and environment).
Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to
compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have to take on a work life that is never
ending, with more responsibilities. In implementing

Summary Of Benito Cardozo
Benito Cardozo contacted me about 10:00 am this morning and said he would bring his uniforms and
equipment to 1900 Main about 10:30 am. I met Cardozo around 10:30 am this morning on the side of
1900 Main and received his uniforms and equipment from him. As you are aware, I was recently
instructed to assign 2 Investigators in plain clothes to every Metro committee meeting and board
meeting until further notice. As before, I still have no idea why we were tasked with sending plain
clothes officers to committee meetings much less 2 Investigators, but I followed the instructions. It
appears that these additional assignments are detrimental to the follow up Investigations we conduct
of criminal incidents that are occurring on the Metro system.

Seed Drill In The 1500s Imagine that it was the 1500s and you were in your garden trying to plant 100 seeds, but out of the 100 seeds you planted, only one actually grew into a plant/vegetable/fruit. This was how farming and agriculture was before machinery, such as the seed drill, invented in 1566. Farmers/workers would carry a bag full of seeds and would walk up and down the field randomly throwing seeds into the ground. Seeds were wasted in the process, so it wasn t very useful, and also took up a lot of energy, even though it was much cheaper to do. In the 1500s, if you were bad at farming, you weren t so lucky and would have probably starved/died. So, how did the seed drill help for those that struggled and also make farming easier? • 4. The Psychology Of Games And Gamers The Psychology of Games and Gamers What is a Gamer? This question is thrown around today with more accusations and people trying to defend themselves than anyone had thought possible before. A gamer used to be someone who simply played games, but now it s been branched off into so many different types of gamers. The main types I will be focusing on are as follows: The Casual Gamer Someone who primarily plays casual games or plays games less frequently than others. The Core Gamer A player with a wider range of interests than a casual gamer. More likely to play different types of games. The Hardcore Gamer Players that are usually very competitive, usually are tech savvy, prefer to play games that have depth and complexity. The Pro Gamer Players that play on a professional level, usually deeply study one specific genre or type of game to master and play it in competitions. These types of gamers are the main builds of the gaming community, and, without them, the community of gaming as we know it would be non existent. These gamer types tend to play different types of games stretching from adventure, action, role playing games (RPGs), and many more. The list is actually too long for me to name in this one paper. Scientifically, each type of game has been shown to help people on a physiological level. One way I ve made the most out of a decision I couldn t control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a place I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known. The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn t push much after that, they weren t too serious about it after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move. • 7. Willy, By William Shakespeare Essay The most obvious thing about Willy is that he functions off the lies that he has told himself. He has convinced himself that he is good at his job and well liked, when the truth is, he is neither. Throughout the play, Willy switches between the present and scenes from the past as he recounts events of the past. Some believe that this is a sign of dementia, however, it appears to be a way for him to escape the truth of his situation and the reality of who his sons are. In the play, Willy puts the expectation of success upon himself and Biff. He desires to have the American dream and he convinces himself that he has achieved it despite the fact that he has to borrow money from his neighbour Charley in order to pay his bills each week. When he learns that Biff has tried to get a loan to start a business, he commits suicide so that Biff will have the money that he needs. This is the biggest example of the fact that Willy did not live in reality because if he did he would have realized that the chances of Biff actually using the money to build a business was nil. This is because Biff is the manifestation of all of Willy s negative attributes both real and imagined. However, unlike Happy who has embraced the American Dream to his own detriment. Biff cannot allow himself to do this. Willy s responsibility for the situation that his family is in is rather substantial. It is his inability to face the truth that was the cause of his family s downfall. First, he refused to accept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness (4). If anything promises happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just as interested in other areas such as virtue. Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community. Without a sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with other members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is made up of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to think of others when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such element is participation. In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social activities. Taking part means contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are socially acceptable. Any community requires active participation of all its members, which is something that is really not seen today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens, in addition to being actively involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be able to be trusted. This is because participation sometimes being involved means being accorded responsibility of communal assets. They should be wasted, and they should not be used for individual gain. This is important because sometimes people misuse things given to them by their communities, and forget that they are not alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. She argues against the stereotype of angry feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape humor, they are sensitive and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall term for women who does not tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight for their rights, when men have not, but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that women might be more ambitious and focused because we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to vote, to work outside the home, to work in environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the universities of our choice, and we ve had to prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of consideration. She also finds great offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive. Additionally, there are many that think that not everyone needs to go to college. Either way, some students still struggle to pay for their college education. Early exposure to college provides a practical solution to this problem. While ninth grade is typically viewed as a good time to start thinking about college, it would be more beneficial to students if they started before then in middle school. Students would receive information about financial aid and admissions. They would be able to plan which classes to take and activities to join in high school in order to obtain scholarships and admission. So said Daniel Yergin in the prologue of his 1990 bestseller The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power. Today, oil retains its importance in the hydrocarbon societies of developed and developing countries as a major engine of economic growth, but the story is not so simple. The price rises about $50/barrel over three years until a sudden spike in 2007 2008, then drops dramatically before sharply rising again (Figure 2). The drop in total imports and exports in 2012 does not seem to be correlated with price, since there is an upward trend in price from 2009 2013. Aside from that year, it appears that there is an overall positive correlation between total imports and exports of oil and the price of oil, suggesting that because oil is an essential commodity, demand is much more inelastic than supply. Thus, imports rise when prices are high even though it is disadvantageous for importers because exporters are willing to provide a larger quantity and importers are less sensitive to price. To analyze whether this is true for individual countries requires further breaking down of the data. The United States, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Germany are almost always in the top six for importers and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates are almost always in the top five for exporters, with the bottom half of the top ten importers and exporters varying year by year. They both practice religion; however one worships more than the other and the religious beliefs in the two are different. Weather is hard to deal with in both colonies as they struggle differently; New England s weather is brutally cold and The Southern Colonies deal with humid heat. The weather is a large factor when it comes to their ways of the land and crops that are able to grow. New England was founded in 1630 by Pilgrims. The layout of the land was mostly made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Farming in the New England colonies was a challenge. Due to the cold, long, and harsh winters, the growing season was very short. The soil was also rocky, so farmers had to take all the rocks out of the ground before planting. Due to these shortcomings, the farmers in the New England colonies only farmed enough for their family, themselves, and their farm animals (Diamond). Due to this issue, they didn t have much need for slaves because of the lack of crops. They also couldn t afford slaves because for one they didn t have enough work to keep them busy and two they didn t have enough crops to share. At first, the south also relied on the forests and the water, but tobacco and cotton later emerged as cash crops. Initially these crops were harvested by indentured servants, but with the growth of plantations, planters started to import slaves from Africa (Rosenzweig). So the opposite goes for The Southern Colonies; they needed slaves to help with the large lands they owned. They knew that without slaves their own family wouldn t be able to keep up with the land/crops so therefore they hired several slaves to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ceramic Fragments Found At The Tepco Beach In this project, we are asked to analyze ceramic fragments found at the TEPCO beach, which, in the mid 20th century, used to be a dump site of the Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company (TEPCO). Though ceramics seem rather mundane, as Deetz s study on the ceramics used in the colonial American show, they reveal quite a bit to the careful eyes: he found out that people used plates symbolically as displays of status rather than utensils, and the ceramic sets after the 18th century reflected the Georgian mindset of individuality and discipline (Deetz 1996). With that in mind, I decided to simply focus on the data needed to verify my rather straightforward hypothesis, that the special pieces have less visual contrast than the standard ones in general. There are two attributes, as evident from the hypothesis, that I would need to know for each artifact: its specialty whether the piece has special or standard decoration and its visual contrast. Given the visual nature of both attributes, I decided that the only data I would need to collect are pictures of my artifacts. Next, I needed to decide how I would analyze the photos in order to extract the two attributes, specialty and contrast, so that I can test my hypothesis. Streptococcus suis which has a high sialic acid content on its cell membrane causes infections in pigs and humans resulting in cases of meningitis and endocartis. Sialic acid is also associated with P. aeruginosa and the virulence it normally induces. Other lectins that are also of importance in microbiology and/or cell biology are mannose binding lectins which are also associated with virulence. 2.The agglutination is based on binding of the sialic acid to the cell membrane. To confirm that sialic acid carbohyrates are responsible for the binding the cells can be stripped of sialic acid and the experiment repeated. The cells are treated with sialidase from C. Perfringens to remove sialic acid carbohydrates from the cell surface membrane. Cell are given a 6 hour growth period Cells are then centrifuged and re suspended in sialidase and buffer and incubated to remove any sialic acid carbohydrates. Cells are then washed in PBS ... In recent times, there has been a shift from mass marketing using mass communication to relationship marketing using Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). This shift has developed an emphasis on interaction and relationship building. IMC is the dominant communications marketing approach favoured by many organisations as together the various communication functions create synergy (Belch Belch, 2012, chapter 1) that consequently builds reputability; short term financial returns and long term brand value (Schultz Schultz, 2003). This argument will be developed through a discussion and examples of various IMC communication functions, with reference to the greater strategic results are possible with the successful use of IMC these include but are not limited to the development of relationships and brand identity and the ability to target various and specific audiences. • 31. William Blake The Lamb Meaning William Blake s The Lamb is a part of the Songs of Innocence (1789) and was later accompanied by a larger work, the Songs of Experience (1794). Blake expressed what he believed, and he wanted to prove his true understanding of Christianity. His audience for his poem understood Christianity and were familiar with the Bible. The poem establishes the theme of the vulnerability of innocence and a vision of the speaker. The child s view is limited on account of unawareness of the total reality of human knowledge. The voice of the poem is formed from a speaker that seems to be an innocent child, communicating with a lamb who is unable to answer or respond to the child. The rhyme scheme is similar to that of Dr. Seuss, it is like a nursery rhyme, and also a riddle. This is one of William s simpler poems, but with a closer analysis it reveals hidden symbols, meaning, tones, and wordplay. William Blake writes The Songs of Innocence, so this poem is obviously going to relate to some kind of innocence. It is revealed in the second stanza when the speaker addresses the lamb as if it knows who made it, and who gave it all of its features. However, the lamb or child does not answer, but of course it would not answer. This then causes the speaker to answer his own questions. Which proves that the lamb is too innocent to answer for itself. Dost thou know who made thee? /Little Lamb I ll tell thee (10 11). I currently find that the development of a respectful relationship with clinical students and new employees allows the facilitation of a conducive learning environment. Of course as discussed in Cooper Garner, (2012) I believe that it then leads to a growth mindset allowing for a more impactful learning experience. Vygotsky s theories are particularly useful in the clinical setting. For instance, for the student nurse scaffolding allows for the provision of support until a new skill is learned. Whereas, scaffolding in the orientation of a new nurse as described in Slavin, (2015) Chapter 2 is part of a concept called cognitive apprenticeship and entails one on one instruction p. 40. Analytically and effectively, he interacts with the characters in different ways as the story goes on when he learns the good and bad people. The novel starts off with Alex Rider in a hospital recovering from an assassination attempt caused by the terrorist organization Scorpia. Alex, in an attempt to rescue Paul, pretends to be Paul himself and overpowers the four men, before eing knocked out by a fifth man. This shows how complex he is. Alex is captured by the men and taken to an abandoned apartment. The men reveal themselves to be Force Three, an eco terrorist group led by a man named Kaspar. This new loyalty centered theme can be seen vividly in the many scenes between Washizu and his wife, Asaji. It explained that for a user to be allowed access to a network he must satisfy the condition of identification and authentication. These issues started out as minor issues, but due to the lack of attention they received, they have since grown into major ones. My recent research is important due to the fact that these issues can no longer be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to spiral out of control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also, not only will the system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not only benefit the former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice system as well. Overall, I hope you all understand my stance when it comes to taking action to resolve the issues the criminal justice system is currently facing. I feel together we can accomplish this major task. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Linda Zarate, Administrator of the Texas Prison System ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A woman was fired after criticizing her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook, 2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the fat paycheck against the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Entire sites have been dedicated to helping employees build their personal brands without conflicting with their company brand (Schawbel, 2009). However, the issue of employee s personal branding will grow in the minds of middle management as their private and public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the individual company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional level strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow employees to communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and talent in their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the mission statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities, threats, and environment). Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have to take on a work life that is never ending, with more responsibilities. In implementing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I met Cardozo around 10:30 am this morning on the side of 1900 Main and received his uniforms and equipment from him. As you are aware, I was recently instructed to assign 2 Investigators in plain clothes to every Metro committee meeting and board meeting until further notice. As before, I still have no idea why we were tasked with sending plain clothes officers to committee meetings much less 2 Investigators, but I followed the instructions. It appears that these additional assignments are detrimental to the follow up Investigations we conduct of criminal incidents that are occurring on the Metro system. ...
