The Effects Of Social Media On Teens
What effects does social media have on on teens? After reading the book Mediated by Thomas de
Zengotita I had realized the over the too use of social media, by teens today, social media is leading to
unhealthy mental and physical side effects. It is important to publicly state these effects in order to
alert parents of what is happening to their teen. Through reading several articles on the subject, I
quickly found and examined these unfavorable side effects, by constantly using social media people
are becoming more isolated, loosing interest in their education, relationships, and experiencing several
other psychological issues. Social media has taken over our county. According a study done by
Georgia State University in 2013 around 50% of teens used social media sites the number grew
dramatically from 25% in 2009. Social media has both good aspects and bad aspects, social media
allows you to connect with friends and family across the world, social media gives you a chance to
create stronger relationships and to build new relationships. However, the drawback from using social
media is that it doesn t allow teens to have the real human interaction that you get when you talk to
someone face to face. In addition, using social media demonstrated to spread untruthful, and
sometimes personal information. There are some discussions about social media actually being
positive, speaking from personal experiences I can see the both positive or negative effects of social
media in

Betrayal In The Count Of Monte Cristo
Revenge Can be Bitter In the book The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas there are many
acts of betrayal against one another. Fernand is quick to betray people for his own gain; especially
Edmond, which led to a harsh grudge against him. Fernand s act of betrayal was the harshest against
Edmond. From the beginning, Fernand envies Edmond s relationship with Merccédès and betrays him
to get her. Fernand kept bugging Mercédès from the start about her love and devotion for Edmond,
trying to dig out a false answer (Dumas 12). Edmond calls Fernand an enemy at first, not hesitant to
strike him down until Mercédès explained who he was (Dumas 13). Fernand said, How can I get rid of
him! What can I do? What can I do (Dumas 13)? Fernand is very jealous of Edmond s relationship
with Mercédès, and Fernand s act of betrayal is the worst of all the acts of betrayal. He is not afraid to
step on people to push himself higher in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fernand lies to many people of his status, not yet fooling the Count, who proceeded to call him out as
Fernand rather than Morcerf (Dumas 393). Fernand! Roared Monte Cristo. One of my names is
enough to strike terror into your heart, but I don t have to tell you what it is, do I? You ve already
guessed it, haven t you (Dumas 393)? Just as the carriage was passing beneath the arch of the gate, a
shot rang out and dark smoke floated out through one of the bedroom windows, which had been
shattered by the force of the explosion (Dumas 394 395). When Edmond calls out Fernand, he doesn t
just tell him who he is, but he also calls him out, stating how he wasn t who he was supposed to be.
The Count jabs at Fernand, saying how he is supposed to be a soldier, bound by the law, who exhibits
honor, trust and loyalty. The Count knows that he was not doing any of these

Is Iago An Orator In Othello
Who is Iago? How does one arrive at such evil intentions? How does one succeed in playing out these
intentions? Iago is a true orator. Or is he? Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator
and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his
outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of
embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess
may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. Iago proves himself an orator through his ability to speak on
any occasion, with success, and bases his rhetoric on imagination and subtlety. On the other hand, his
rhetoric s intention, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why, say they are vile and false (III, iii) to imply that he is saving Othello from hearing such awful
thoughts. Then he tells Othello You cannot, if my heart were in your hand;/ Nor shall not, whilst tis in
my custody (III, iii) know about his thoughts in order to make Othello first curious and then concerned
that the information Iago is withholding is crucial to know. Once Othello essentially begs Iago, he
asserts that now I shall have reason/ To show the love and duty that I bear you (III, iii). This ruse baits
Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid
than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications
that Iago is making. This line also plays upon Othello s assumption and belief that Iago wants not only
what is best for him, but that Iago would sacrifice himself for him. Therefore, Iago uses rhetoric to
make imaginary faults plausible. Next, Iago is a character who adapts to each event, occasion, and
position that he find himself in. He is able to speak to the advantage of his master plan regardless of
the situation that presents itself. Iago proves himself a chameleon of rhetoric. He is able to fit his plan
into all points of his rhetoric without a fault, just as Quintilian stated that an orator

Symphony Orchestra Performance Analysis Essay
Performance Analysis of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine An analysis of a performance
by The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine proves that the concert is an example of three types
of classical music. Classical music features numerous instruments played by skilled experts. The
instruments used can belong to a range of instrumental groups, including: brass, string, percussion,
and woodwind. As the name implies, the instrumental groups used by this ensemble exhibit elements
of a symphonic orchestra. Examples of the types of instruments heavily used throughout the concert
include: violin, cello, clarinet, flute, trombone, drum, harp, and numerous other percussions. For each
instrument, there are multiple players. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people came dressed in formal attire and the largest groups were older listeners and families. As
being a Symphony Orchestra from the Ukraine, there was a large number of Ukrainian people in the
audience. Before the concert began, I spoke to an older gentleman in front of me. He was Ukrainian,
and was excited to hear the concert. Many other people came up to him to greet him before the show.
Seemingly, there was a close community of Ukrainian people in the surrounding area, that all came to
see the concert. As America has so many different nationalities within such a large country, it is
evident how a concert like this may affect communities and help Americans honor their ancestors.
There was a large number of female musicians in the orchestra. Although mostly string, it is important
to note this and many seemed very young, while other players seemed older. The orchestra was widely
diverse in terms of age and gender. Putting aside the newer suite, two of the compositions played were
played historically accurate to what could ve been played in the nineteenth century. It was an Eastern
European orchestra, but the famous compositions played have meaning in American music as well.
Mostly being introduced in the twentieth century, classical concert European concert music like those

Leo Africanus Accomplishments
Born in the Renaissance era as al Hassan ibn Muhammad al Wazzam, Leo Africanus came from
Granada, a city found at the bottom of the mountains in Andalusia, Spain. Even though he was not
technically raised here, this is the place that he always acknowledged and claimed to be his true city.
His name literally means the son of Muhammad the weigh master. Shortly after his birth, this city was
conquered by the Catholics, Isabella and Ferdinand. The once diverse city, where Muslims, Jews,
Christians, etc coexisted, became divided. The Kings apparently decided, around 1492, that they

Article Summary of to Spin a Yarn Essay
We can begin to explore the lineage of women as tale tellers in a history that stretches from Philomela
and Scheherazade to the raconteurs of French veillees and salons, to English peasants, governesses,
and novelists, and to the German Spinnerinnen and the Brother s Grimm. (53 54) In the chapter To
Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tale from Fairy Tales and Society: Illusion and
Paradigm, Karen E. Rowe explores the depth and history of voicelessness of women and how the
combination of spinning and tale telling was their way of speaking in a society that would not let
them. She takes the reader on a tale of a complex history that starts in ancient history with the Greeks,

Spinning is an ancient practice, showing up in biblical writings, such as in Proverbs expressing a
spinner as a virtuous woman. She who spins is the model of the good woman and wife and
presumably in many cultures of the subservient woman who knows her duty that is to remain silent
and betray no secrets. (57) Philomela takes something that is so harmless and domestic and uses it to
speak and break the silence that has been enforced upon her, speaking in another mode. This mode she
is familiar with and has grown up doing. Ovid s account of what happened to Philomela is without a
doubt a retelling, taken from a woman s narrative through the medium of weaving. This is also how
fairy tales are regarded in later centuries, and Philomela became the prototype for female storytellers
in later traditions. We move on to Arabian Nights, in which Scheherazade is the character of interest.
Most people read this book as a tale of masculine adventures, and tend not to notice who is behind the
telling of these tales. Scheherazade is a hero in the fact that she saves both virgins from slaughter and
the King from his madness after he vows to marry virgins and kill them the next morning. She keeps
him entertained with stories, stopping her tale midway through in the evening with a promise to finish
it the next night. After a thousand and one nights, he realizes that she is pure and tis changes his mind
about women. In this story, Scheherazade seems to represent the

Cleaver offers a shift of analysis of the international debt crisis by examining it through class terms.
International debt crisis was seen as the inability/failure of capital to control working class power.
Cleaver explains this by analyzing the origins/genesis of debt, locates the continuation of the crisis as
the failure of capital to deal with working class power, and on why working class should focus on the

Althusser (1970) forwarded the idea of Ideological State Apparatuses that function through ideology.
He identified these various ISAs as religious, educational, family, legal, political (includes political
system and parties), trade unions, communications (media), and cultural (literature, sports etc). These
ISAs represses working class mobilization not through violence but through ideology. Cleaver failed
to see that working class self valorization is hindered by equally powerful forces: the Ideological State

Gap In The World Short Story
Gap in Their World
Hmm, gloomy as usual. Sneered Olivia. Olivia and her friends arrived to school, called Jennifer s
School for Girls, located in lousy Philadelphia. Their ugly, tan uniforms were so hot, as usual. The
cameras were top notch, so the girls couldn t take their stupid jackets off. The girls wondered what
school would be like in some other place, where it wasn t so hot and unfair. The principal walked by
and all of the girls ran off. Olivia and all of her friends feared that horrible lady.

The only problem was: it was still 9 am. School ends at 3:30. The day went by as slow as a snail.
Every day was so miserable because it was all girls. At recess, Olivia, Sophia, Claire, and Elora
watched the boys school. They had equipment and sports, something they didn t have. They always
watched, and thought, watched, and thought, until the bell rang. The rest of the day Olivia wondered,
Boys are so lucky... They have everything... Why are we so neglected? What did we ever do?
Everything was so confusing to a second grade girl in an unfair world.
Olivia and her friends talked to Mrs. Lark, We don t deserve this, it s like we are forgotten, broken off
from everything. Mrs. Lark sat for a minute, and thought about what to say, Well, I don t know why
women are treated differently, but I can tell you to do what is right. Don t let anyone stop you from
getting what you need to succeed. Now run along home, I need to do some things. Do me one favor,
though, never forget my words. They will come in handy one day. So, Olivia promised to never forget
and they all went home.
The next two years went by, but Olivia never forgot Mrs. Lark s words. Olivia knew what she had to
do. On Friday night after school, Sophia, Claire, and Elora came over. Olivia had a surprise. She went
in the bathroom, cut her hair, and changed into boy s clothes. She walked back into her room filled

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mesopotamia

Part I: Compare and Contrast Mesopotamian and Egyptian Cultures The two most significant
civilizations in ancient history are Mesopotamia and Egypt, They both developed environmental,
political, religious and social patterns as well as architecture and art. Although they had a lot of things
in common, they were also different in a lot of ways. Mesopotamia and Egypt were using river to
develop their own agriculture systems. Mesopotamia encompasses the land between the Tigris and
Euphrates rivers, while Egypt is settled along the Nile River. In Mesopotamia, the weather was not as
well as Egypt did. It was flooding frequently and unpredictably. Furthermore, it was a place that
lacked of natural barriers and limited natural resources. In order to solve the problems, Sumerians dug
irrigation ditches, built city walls and traded with other people in order to get enough natural
resources. In Egypt, the flooding of the Nile was predictable and also helped to renew the farmlands.
Egyptians stayed close to the river because it provided enough natural resources which were good for
growing crops such as wheat, flax and papyrus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nomads Of Brazil
Brazil was inhabited for at least 8000 years ago by Amerindian nomads and semi nomads. Eventually
some of the nomads settled down to farm and eventually formed cities. They lived like this for
thousands of years until the Europeans arrived. In the 16th century, Portugal began to colonize Brasil.
The Portuguese brought many diseases which resulted in the deaths of the majority of the natives. The
surviving natives were decided to be civilized by the Portuguese. This meant mixing with their
women, forcing their culture on them and converting them to Christianity. From 1580 to 1640 Brasil
was slightly neglected along with other Portuguese colonies due to the Hapsburg ownership of

Punishment And Punishment In Education
One of the basic human functions is to learn, whether it be a specific school subject or a behavior
through observation. As one grows up, it is important to see how he or she was taught to treat people
good, bad, honest, fair? How can violence be eliminated very early on in development? One form of
learning is through punishment. Many times, punishment is used to inform a child or even an adult to
not do a certain thing again while educating them on what is good or bad behavior considering the
circumstance. Therefore, punishment is not only a teaching tool, but also a process that decreases the
likelihood reoccurrence of a behavior (Hockenbury, S. E., Nolan, S. A, Hockenbury, D. H. 2015). As a
young child, a punishment may have included taking away a desired toy or a treat that we wanted to
obtain, such as going to the movies or getting McDonalds for dinner. It is easy to look back and reflect
on past experiences of punishment that shaped us into who we are today. However, punishment is not
simply a negative consequence of being a child; it can happen to people of all ages. For example, a
punishment can be directed at adults who don t dress properly or arrive late to work. Punishment can
be effective for all age groups because human beings are an imperfect species. It is never too late to
improve one s behavior. Overall, the main purpose of punishment is to stop wrongdoings among all
ages from happening repeatedly. When thinking of punishment regarding psychology,

The Need to Update and Revolutionize The Church
It was difficult for me to get past the first page of reading Willimon s The Pastor as Preacher. The first
sentence which struck me was most of those who are under authority refuse to treat preachers as their
instructors. These words hit me squarely in the face, because I have been struggling with my current
endeavors for my supervised ministry
The one great preacher...is the Church. I agree vehemently with this statement. This is why when I
drive pass the Church day, after day, seeing no activity going on. No cars, no influx of people coming
in and out of the doors. No pastor there on standby for any lonely, lost soul who is looking for solace
within the confines of the Church doors. I become more and more disenchanted with the Church. The
ideas I am trying to implement and initiate are often meet with great dissention from the people. They
think fish fry s and car washes are ministry. They struggle with treating me as instructor, someone
there to help teach them. I have never been so conflicted in my life. I want to see the Church grow. I
want to see the Church standing in the community as the greatest pontificator of the Gospel, yet it lies
dormant. It lies like a sleeping giant who is yet to understand the true power it possess. I think my
greatest opposition stems from the fact the previous pastor was an idealist. He had great ideas and a
great vision for the Church. The new pastor, a well grounded and well respected figure in our
denomination, seems

The prices of these seats however tend to change in accordance with the days that the bookings of
these flights are made available till the date of departure (Koenigsberg, Muller and Vicassim, 2008).
All bookings for easyJet are made straight from either telephones or the internet; this made it very
easy to incorporate the web into its central booking system. By achieving this, there were no possible
channel conflicts with other intermediaries, for example with travel agents Easyjet s website illustrates
their pricing policy as being based on supply and demand, and prices usually increase as seats are sold
on every flight. Basically the sooner a person books, the cheaper the flight ticket would be . The web
also states that the low cost scheme of easyJet is not tickets, no ties to other networks, no travel agents
and no on flight meals. (easyJet plc., 2010). A pin code is also given for each customer s booking that
is done on the website which is given to travellers upon arrival at the airport.

To gain a competitive advantage, most companies tend to implement a brand strategy. What makes
easyJet stand out amongst its competitors is their image of a low budget airline and no frills services;
this brand strategy is simple but strong. EasyJets whole company is recognised by their unique orange

Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay
Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion
people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch
water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is
found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases.
Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted
sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water:
astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every
dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent
a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including
sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not
equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which
are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water
filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered
its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to
the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and
bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers,
these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the
other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge
when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by
the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by
using membranes with small pores so

The Culture Of The Caribbean
The Caribbean is a widely known tourist attraction, and in the center of the Caribbean is a small island
named Haiti. Home to about ten million people, this island country serves as a exports a variety of
goods from cocoa to clothing around the world but mainly to the United States. But behind their
massive amounts of exports there is plenty of history behind how the country was formed and
important events that led to its independence and creation of the Government. Haiti was unexpectedly
found by Christopher Columbus. While trying to sail and find a faster route from Europe to India, he
ran into the Caribbean Islands instead. Haiti s first name was Hispaniola, named by the native Taino
that lived there before French and Spanish settlers that landed there. During the 18th century Haiti was
one of the wealthiest islands in the Caribbean due to its exportation of sugar. During that time there
was also a large population of slaves that lived there. Nearly a half a million slaves lived in Haiti
during that time. Due to the amount of slaves and the way they were treated by the European slave
owners, a rebel group led by Toussaint l Ouverture ended slavery in Haiti and gained independence in
1804. The Western Imperialism in Haiti turned out to be a mishap and ended up dismantling and
dividing the country.
Due to the small size of the country, Christopher Columbus was able set up a settlement on the north
coast of Hispaniola easily, although it was later destroyed by the natives.

Little Skate Fishes Research Paper
Little skate fishes are known to be one of the dominant members of the demersal fish community in
the northwestern Atlantic. They live deep in the ocean, sitting in the ocean floor most of times. They
use these organs called spiracles as I mentioned above, they help the little skate to function oxygen to
reach internal respiratory organs and still intake oxygenated water over their gills. These spiracles are

antibiotic is always needed when treating sinus symptoms Taking antibiotics when there is no bacterial
infection to treat can actually do more harm than good. Many think that their sinus problems are
actually due to a bacterial infection, when the most common scenario is a viral infection. Viral
infections do not require antibiotic treatment, and typically resolve on their own. If you find that your
symptoms last more than 7 to 10 days, see your doctor to check if an antibiotic is the appropriate

BTK Story
BTK: The Story Abstract Dennis Lynn Rader was born to Dorothea Mae and William Elvin Rader on
March 9, 1945. Otero was found murdered in his home alongside three of his family members. Joseph
Otero s wife was beaten, choked and bound before Rader killed her. Rader s next BTK victim was a
21 year old named Kathryn Bright. Similarly to Rader s first set of victims, she had been bound with
a cord, somewhat clothed and had been choked and stabbed numerous times. Rader s last two victims
were 28 year old Vicki Wegerle, and 62 year old Dolores Davis. Rader s killing spree had come to a

Next, there was 25 year old Nancy Fox. It was reported that Fox had been strangled at her home with
her own stockings. Rader also left his famous fingerprint on her body, which was partially clothed and
strangled with a telephone cored. Marine Hedge, who lived on the same street as Rader, was reported
missing by her loved ones back in April of 1985. Investigators found her body eight days later on an
abandoned road. Hedge had been strangled, and then chocked with a pair of women s pantyhose.
Hedge was 53. Rader s last two victims were 28 year old Vicki Wegerle, and 62 year old Dolores
Davis. Wegerle s husband discovered her strangled body in bed. Wegerle was abducted from her
hometown in January of 1991 and found thirteen days later underneath a bridge. Davis had been
strangled, and her feet, knees, and hands were all bound with pantyhose. Rader s killing spree had
come to a halt shortly after his last two victims, Vicki Wegerle, and Dolores Davis. In 2004 the
investigation became interesting after Rader sent an anonymous letter to the authorities, declaring
accountability for a killing that had not formerly been recognized as the work of the BTK killer.
Investigators took DNA samples from underneath the victim s fingernails. DNA tests started soon
afterwards along with hundreds of male samples of DNA in hopes of finding the serial killer. Overall,
around 1,300 samples of DNA were acquired then a court later

Reflection About Communication Technology
The Communications Technology course serves as a base to introduce a student to the photography as
well as the Communication Technology aspect of the field. Over this semester, I am content with what
I have learned are improved upon. When entering the class on this first day, I did not know what I was
going to expect. I thought this course was all about photography as it is mainly known as photography
; but after a brief introduction by Mr. Oseivhi, I learned that there is much more components to it. This
course focused on every little basic detail you absolutely need to know before entering the
Communication Technology industry. The company project where we were asked to make up a
business and develop a business card, letterhead, video and logo made me realized that it isn t easy to
work together. You really need to be patient and corporate with others instead of giving up. When my
team mates weren t being respectful and doing the work they were assigned, it got me frustrated and
infuriated. I preferred working by myself and as a result separated myself from them and worked
individually. But once Mr. Oseivhi made us realize that situations like these will mostly likely occur in
our future jobs we needed to learn how to adapt to others circumstances and work as a team. So
therefore, that did happen and at the end we got what we accomplished and as well as learned a
valuable lesson. When using all these new software s for the first time, I was shocked at how easy I

The brain is often exposed to various disturbance during the perioperative period in all age groups.
Neurobehavioral disturbances during the perioperative period may manifest as: Emergence delirium
postoperative delirium postoperative cognitive decline.
Delirium is defined as a disturbed state of mind which is accompanied by confusion, restlessness,
illusions, incoherence sometimes hallucinations.
There are many causesof delirium:
a. Due to medical condition
b. Due to Substance abuse
c. Intoxication
d. Delirium due to non specified reasons
Emergence delirium occurs on emergence from anesthesia. There is no lucid interval. Emergence
delirium usually lasts for less than 30 minutes. Emergence agitation or delirium is mostly seen in the
pediatric age group, is mostly associated with the administration of general anesthesia and usually
resolves without any cosequences[1]. Emergence delirium in the pediatric age group is thought to be
in someway associated with separation anxiety therefore premedication to prevent separation anxiety
might help in preventing it.[2]
Postoperative cognitive decline (POCD) refers to a more fine change in cognition noted during

International Organisations, Agreements And Governance
No man [or woman] is an island is a sentence that captures humanity s need for interaction in order to
secure its best interests. In the context of international trade, supranational structures are necessary for
all parties best interests. With globalisation proceeding at an ever increasing pace, the frequencies and
magnitudes of economic interactions between actors of different states increases exponentially (Nye,
298). Growing complex interdependence creates a common interest for cooperation, in terms of
pursuing a common framework of regulation and establishing a common standard (Nye, 299 301). As
such, this begs the question of how the above can be implemented and achieved. International
organisations, agreements and governance is the functionalist answer to the above question (Rourke,
165), even under the framework in which states only consider self interests. Throughout the course of
time, these instruments have grown in number and complexity. Examples of their more rudimentary
forms are the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU),
which were both established more than one and a half centuries ago, providing a common technical
standard among states (Rourke, 137). In the past century, more sophisticated forms of international
governance in political economy evolved. For example, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade
(GATT) Uruguay Round in 1996 established the current World Trade Organisation (WTO) and an

Innate Response Essay
The immune system is composed of two parts firstly the innate system and secondly the adaptive
system. The innate response is the first line of defence and relies on pattern recognition receptors
(PRRs) to recognise specific pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and provide a rapid
response to the recognised pathogen. This system also has the complement system and phagocytic
cells as its disposal. Pathogens expresses PAMPs which activate antigen presenting cells (APC), such
as dendritic cells (DC), through ligation of PRR (e.g. Toll like receptors) found on the APC surface.
The adaptive immune system, is the specific response against the pathogens. This response begins

DC are crucial in pathogen recognition and initiating specific immune responses to destroy pathogens.
DC phagocytose a diverse selection of antigens and present them to cells as peptides bound to MHC
I/II products.
DCs can be immature or mature, immature DCs are found in tissues throughout the body allowing
them to monitor the surrounding environment for pathogens and can provide a rapid response to any
foreign bodies. DCs become mature when they receive a danger signal through PRRs, during the
maturation process the cells T cell stimulating capacity will increase, it will also increase in size
allowing an increase in levels of cell surface antigens (e.g. MHC class I/II and CD40) which is
important in T cell activation.
DCs will uptake the antigen causing inflammatory cytokines production (e.g. IL 2, INFµ, TNFα) and
chemokines allowing the antigen loaded DC to migrate to lymphoid organs. Once there the naïve T
cells have; the antigen that stimulated specific TCRs and polarising factors that determine which T cell

Use of Attics in Literature Essay
The Phenomenology of Space Attic Memories and Secrets
Since Gilbert and Gubar s The Madwoman in the Attic, critics have assumed that attics house
madwomen. But they use that concept as a metaphor for their thesis, that women writers were isolated
and treated with approbation. In most literature, attics are dark, dusty, seldom visited storage areas,
like that of the Tulliver house in The Mill on the Floss a great attic under the old high pitched roof,
with worm eaten floors, worm eaten shelves, and dark rafters festooned with cobwebs a place thought
to be weird and ghostly. Attics do not house humans (not even mad ones) they warehouse artifacts that

Attics make us think of history, interesting artifacts, old toys, books, clothes, linens, jewelry, and other
treasures but, most of all, of deep, dark, and significant family secrets. It was in the attic of the house
that I grew up in that, as a snooping teenager, I found the packet of letters from my mother to her first
husband. Her FIRST husband. I had never dreamed that she had had but one husband my father. And
had I not ferreted out those letters, I probably still would not know. Then, that night, my father took
me aside I m sure at my mother s urging and confessed that he too had been married and divorced
before he met my mother. Whether particular attics hide such secrets hardly matters. What matters is
that psychologically we believe that they do. In fact, attics frequently house just the sort of
information I unearthed facts that one is too attached to to throw away, but which one very much
wants to remain secret.
Before a discussion of attics can begin, it is essential to define what is meant by attic and to
distinguish attics from upper rooms. Not all third floor spaces are attics, because many larger houses
have and had third floor rooms that were normal living spaces, sometimeshaving bedrooms and
sometimes having a huge, finished room used for balls and other parties. Such rooms were furnished,
and comfortably habitable. Such is the case with a room that is often cited as an attic that incarcerates
a madwoman, the upper room in The

Plastic Surgery Becomes More Popular
As time progresses, plastic surgery becomes more popular. Plastic surgery isn t just what s seen on TV
and on social media; plastic surgery is much more than facelifts, rhinoplasty, and breast
enhancements. In fact, plastic surgery is anything that undergoes the process of reconstructing or
repairing parts of the body. (Reconstructive Surgery) The facelift Kris Jenner recently just had done is
equally considered plastic surgery as an ordinary person getting an extra finger removed. These are
both types of plastic surgery, but they re treated completely differently. A woman who gets cosmetic
surgery gets scorned for getting the procedure done, yet the person who went in to remove their extra
finger does not. In reality, these issues are quite similar. Plastic surgery is often the last resort for those
who want to desperately change how they look; those who get plastic surgery done are quickly judged
for doing so; however, both men and women should consider the reasons why a person might want
plastic surgery; the reasons behind this may be deeper than one thought. Those who get plastic surgery
get it for numerous reasons; one reason they get it done is for serious medical purposes. Those who
seek plastic surgery for medical purposes are doing it to fix abnormalities caused by accidents, birth
defects, and medical issues developed over time. An example of this would be a driver in a serious car
accident getting their finger ripped off by the force that hit them.

Essay about Comparing and Contrasting the Men of Jane Eyre
Comparing and Contrasting the Men of Jane Eyre
Love and companionship means different things to different people. Sometimes one searches for it in a
person much like himself; a mate who upholds their own values and thinks the same thoughts. Other
times, people yearn for someone with fresh ideas and an opposite personality to bring new emotions to
his life. But in either case, the person that sometimes ends up being the mate one is attracted to is not
always a choice that is conventionally upheld by society or perfect in every way. Charlotte Brontë s

John and Mr. Rochester throughout the novel, and each offers Jane something very different. As it is
commonly remarked in the novel, Mr. Rochester is not a handsome man, and Jane is rather plain
herself. When she is asked by him, You examine me, Miss Eyre, do you think me handsome? she
quickly responds, No, sir, without the slightest bit of restraint. Obviously, the aspect of physical
perfection is not important to Jane, as she rises above this superficial quality and still loves him for the
man he is inside. She herself has never been flattered by others about her beauty and perhaps the less
attractive physique of her lover makes her more comfortable around him and less pressured to
conform and accept the conventional characteristics of beauty, which she does not possess. St. John
boasts physical qualities that are very much the opposite of Mr. Rochester. As Jane describes him, St.
John dresses well. He is a handsome man: tall, fair, with blue eyes, and a Grecian profile. Although
Jane depicts him as an almost godlike figure, these perfections of physical stature are not things that
make Jane feel comfortable or attracted to him. During her life she has not had much contact with
beauty and handsome features, and has become accustomed to this acceptance of natural appearance
and does not have the desire to search for a life companion that has such an ideal outward

Why DonT We Complain By William F Buckley Analysis
The Answer to William F. Buckley s Why Don t We Complain? William F. Buckley created an essay
in 1961 capturing the reluctance of todays society to complain about the things that things that are
irksome. He divulges his opinion on why Americans are so unwilling to share their opinion on matters
that are concerning to them irrespective of how trivial they may seem, or how enlarged the situation
may be. Buckley describes several accounts in his essay from the temperature on a train not being the
ideal setting, the strains of having to deal with a blurry picture at the movies, and the failures of a
waitress to respond to his needs of more milk with his breakfast. He also speaks about having to take
an airline attendances word as only script while he waits for the removal of his tray from his lap
before continuing his writing, and awaiting a tool at a ski counter to sort out his own adjustments as he
watches the worker sit and smoke. Buckley summarizes his experiences to share his opinion on why
people, including himself, choose to shy away from the confrontation that is typically brought on by a
simple complaint. But what are the true reasons for one s inability to complain in even the simplest of
situations? William F. Buckley argues the answer to his own titled question within his essay being
that; one: most people are far too reluctant to create negative attention to themselves; two: people
always expect that someone else will speak up; and three: even if one has voiced their concern for a
resolve more often than not the resolve is ignored or does not fall in line with the normal flow of
things. The first experience Buckley shares with his readers is his commute on an overly crowded
train where the temperature was exceedingly hot for the bulk of passengers. He witnessed his own
transformation by losing his overcoat, then his jacket, and later his tie only to notice that the car was
flecked with the white shirts of the passengers (7). He recounts his thoughts as to why he or anyone
else didn t just let the conductor know their discomfort and attributed this discomfort to a rational
explanation of an overstocked furnace, valve turned too high, or a maladjusted thermostat (29). All of
these reasons

Immigration American Immigration
Why did so many immigrants leave home? What were their expectations? From where? Many
Europeans decided to come to America for many reasons. All of them, immigrated because the
European continent was living in a bad economic and religious situation. America experienced a
massive immigration that occurred from around 1800s to 1900s. Most of these newcomers came from
Northern and Western Europe. Many came from Ireland and Germany, which experienced a massive
potato famine in the mid 19th century. Some Escaped religious persecution and came to search for
freedom to practice their faith (Catholics and Jews) looking for refuge and renewal. Also, a huge
number of immigrants came to America for wealth, seeking economic opportunities (economic
betterment and the desire for cash). According to Professor Young, she argued that immigrants were
often feared for bringing foreign and radical influences to the U.S. I totally agree with this statement
because many Americans were so scared of communism (Leninism and Bolshevism), cultural
changes, and fear in general. Americans was afraid of immigrants in general because according to
them immigrants were bringing radical influences to the U.S and were dragging down the American
life, but in my analysis this image challenges the argument stated by professor Young. This image

The Visible And Invisible In Edo Japan
The Visible and Invisible in Edo Japan The Edo period in Japan was the result of strict social control
and economic growth resulting in a burgeoning artistic scene. Art was a way of expressing the feelings
and desires that was denied by social norms imposed by an authoritarian government. As a result,
there was a clash of ideas that pushed artists to focus on subtle refinement of traditional styles and the
values therein. This sentiment not only applied to religious art, but to secular art forms as well due to
the wealthy patrons being a part of the systems that restricted society. However, this restriction created
a unique environment that birthed art and ideas that are unique to their time and place as the lack of
outside influences forced all to turn inwards for inspiration. Therefore, the balance between the visible
and the invisible is represented in the design of the art. The first artwork is Pair of Phoenix Overdoor
Panels (Ramma) which was designed in the 19th century during the Edo period for a Buddhist temple.
The elaborate wooden carving derives its aesthetics from the ideas and symbolism that are attached to
the phoenix. Being a mythical creature, the phoenix brought over much of its symbolism from China
when Buddhism was introduced to Japan during the 7th century. This example is carved of wood that
is lacquered and painted with metal accent inlays. Buddhist temples of the time had architecture that
resembled their Chinese counterparts, but reinterpreted to

When an album enters into the realm of reverence, it is attached with an increasingly difficult to break
shield. The idea that an album established as great could have any sort of faults becomes something to
be scoffed at or ignored. We lose the ability to critique when some sort of consensus has been
achieved. The critical hivemind encourages us to move forward and accept the established
masterpieces as masterpieces. And without a potential for hindsight, the worst portions of albums
belonging to this universal canon are left without scrutiny. This is not to say that a classic album is
automatically bad when it contains a weak moment, either. Though it certainly brings the album in

India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity
Introduction:
India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine. Several
dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples of these
indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on.
The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation
Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy event globally and
the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of being the leading
producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country, nearly 40 50% is
converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into Indian tradition. The
processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and
fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese
prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural
protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey.
The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened
unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It
shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese. As with the entire food industry within
the country, the

Analysis Of Miss Peregrine s Home For Peculiar Children By...
Society often creates an unspoken set of standards on what defines normal . Then, we imprint these
ideals into the brains of children and they live their lives conforming and never thriving. Tim Burton,
an advocate for individuality, uses his films to break these standards. Burton incorporates Misfit
protagonists and Motherly/Fatherly figures in Alice in Wonderland and Miss Peregrine s Home for
Peculiar Children to display that young people truly find themselves when they deviate from the path
society chose for them.
Burton often integrates misfit protagonists who, throughout the movie, find themselves. For instance,
in the film Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children, Jake, a young man struggling to find himself,

It is in Wonderland that Alice discovers her true path of slaying the Jabberwocky. Alice is looked
down upon for her whimsical thinking and wacky comments in a society that strives for prim and
proper. Luckily, for Alice, Wonderland shares her whimsical and wacky ways. Alice is not only
accepted; she is cherished for she is the chosen one. She is no longer a misfit. Just like Jake, she finds
her path by disregarding the one already chosen for them but that would not have happened without
the help of Motherly/Fatherly figures.
Burton frequently uses Motherly/Fatherly Figures to help push the main character towards reaching
their full potential. For example, in the film Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, a middle aged man
going through a mental break, guides Alice as she navigates her way through Wonderland. High key
lighting and medium shots help to create a halo effect on him, for he is a light in the darkness. In the
tea party scene, there are many dark colors and shadows, but not on the Hatter to show the contrast
between him and the setting. Hatter is very protective of Alice just as a father would be of his
daughter. He has watched her mature. Hatter also lost his family tragically, which leads him to crave
the love and affection of family. Alice fills this void for Hatter. Likewise, Alice lost her father and is
looking for someone who understands her. They complete one another. Furthermore, in the film Miss

Secondary Traumatic Stress Research Paper
Introduction
We Define secondary traumatic stress as the natural, consequent behaviors and emotions resulting
from knowledge about a traumatizing event experienced by... other[s]. It is stress resulting from
helping or wanting to help a traumatized or suffering person (Stamm, 1999, p. 10) This comes from
Dr. Charles Figley, director of the Traumatology Institute, chair in the Disaster Mental Health and
Associate Dean at Tulane University. While secondary traumatic stress (STS) can affect people in a
variety of different careers and positions. It is most apparent in the lives of medical professionals due
to the emotional and physical trauma they witness people going through daily.
Three major symptoms of secondary traumatic stress include lack of sleep, decreased job satisfaction,
and compassion fatigue (American Counseling Association., n.d.) all of which are can be life
threatening if an MD is treating a patient while experiencing these symptoms. This problem is
prevalent in the lives of many medical professionals across the nation but unfortunately, there is
currently not enough being done to combat this serious issue.

Near-Death Experience Theory
Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is inevitable.
Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So many people have
gone through near death experiences, which is why those people look at life like it is so precious.
Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near death experiences. While there are some
differences between a spiritual hypothesis and a physiological hypothesis, the similarities are evident.
According to Oxford Dictionary, a near death experience is an unusual experience taking place on the
brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically and out of body experience or a
vision of a tunnel of light . According to howstuffworks.com, ... Show more content on

on the seventh day, when the doctors discussed whether or not they should continue treatment, his E.

be full of light, with many spiritual beings, and the whole place was filled with love and peace.

Persuasive Essay On Into The Wild
Understanding oneself is one of the most important factors in living a free life, and living on the road
can be a big part of this process. In the novel, Into The Wild, Jon Krakauer writes about a boy who
ventures into the wilderness and inevitably learns more about himself on a journey right before he
dies. In order to avoid his problematic family, Chris McCandless journeys into danger where he meets
people who help him learn more about the world. Although he does eventually meet his end in Alaska,
he leaves the world without worries or regrets. By living on the road and in nature, Mccandless is able
to live the life that he wants and be free from the clutches of society. While living on the road can
prove fatal, it allows a person to find themselves and avoid the problems of society; therefore, people
should look to nature in order to better understand themselves. By living in nature, a person is able to
truly understand what they want in life, and how to achieve it. Nature allowed McCandless to reflect
and understand that it was the place that he wanted to be submersed in. Similar to many romantics,
McCandless was a person who saw the beauty in nature and wanted to experience it for himself. He
was tired of society and all the pressure that was put upon him by it. McCandless states to his father, I
ve decided that I m going to live this life for some times to come. The freedom and simple beauty of it
is just too good to pass up (92). Even before he enters the wild, McCandless has a sense that living in
the wild is what is right for him. He knows that he wants to be free within the plains of nature instead
of being confined by the walls that his parents placed him in. After his adventures through the country
during college, he eventually saw it best to give up everything and seek himself within nature. What
Mccandless wants more than anything is to be free from his uneventful life with his family that had
high expectations for him. By being in nature and on the road, he is able to achieve this because he has
no real connections to society. By being given the possibility of entering the beautiful and simple
space given by nature, nothing can stand in the way of Chris s dreams and aspirations. Although

Similarities Between Hamlet And Lion King
Hamlet Vs. Lion King
The Lion King is watched by children all over the world. It is a classic Disney movie that many watch

very similar to Shakespeare s play, Hamlet . Some similarities include the lives of Simba and prince

Each character in The Lion King connects with a character in Hamlet . Simba plays as prince Hamlet,

Ophelia, Rafiki plays as Horatio, hyenas plays as Laertes, and Timon and Pumbaa plays as

Before prince Hamlet and Simba could complete their missions, they had to find their way back home
because Scar and king Claudius had sent Simba and Prince Hamlet away. After the process of making
their way back home, both princes end up with fighting with their uncles. In The Lion King , Simba
fights with Scar and Scar gets killed by the hyenas. Prince Hamlet in Hamlet kills king Claudius with
a poisonous knife. Both The Lion King and Hamlet allows the main character to overcome a moral
struggle. In The Lion King , Simba must act and be the king of his palace for sake of the animals of
the kingdom and his father instead of running from what happened in the past. In Hamlet , prince
Hamlet must decide to kill his uncle and take the risk of getting himself killed, or to keep the secret of
King Claudius killing King Hamlet and live with it for the rest of his life. Some differences between
Shakespeare s play and Disney s movie are the ages of Simba and prince Hamlet, Simba s story is
happy overall, most of the characters in Hamlet die but only one died in The Lion King , Simba lives
happily ever after while price Hamlet died in the process of his revenge, Simba has help with his
friends while prince Hamlet was forced to keep things to himself, prince Hamlet s mother got
remarried to her husband s brother, and obviously, the species are different. The only sad part in The
Lion King was when Simba s father died, but

Elements of Design

ENG 225: Introduction to Film
Prof. XXX
December 23, 2013
Designing a film is something not everyone can do. It takes a lot of patience and attention to detail to
ensure the creators of films make the best possible scenes with zero to minimal mistakes. Every scene
needs to be spot on with elements such as setting, lighting, costuming, and temporal elements. When
watching a movie for the first time, people don t normally pay much attention to the small details but
when a film is a considered a favorite, people tend to spot small mistakes within films. Let s take a
look on how these artists focuses on making films a detailed and enjoyable. Christmas movies are the

Elf (2003) is a Christmas movie and with saying that, people expect to see Christmas decorations,
lights, music, and costumes to make the audience feel like it really is Christmas. In this scene of the
film, you notice that it takes place in the mall and is completely decorated with Christmas decorations
everywhere. Buddy has on his signature elf costume and the fake Santa has on a traditional Santa
outfit. The scene itself screams Christmas and no one can argue that. Film scenes don t make itself
come to life; this specific job is designated to the art director. The art director is Kelvin Humenny and
this man help collaborate with the director and production designer to produce the overall look and
feel of Elf (2003). Humenny delegated tasks to production, set, electrical and lighting designers,
unifying those roles in the effort to bring directors aesthetic vision to life. Again, this is a Christmas
movie and the set up is suppose to make the audience feel the Christmas spirit. This scene was a
success in my eyes. The set and lighting was spot on as you look at the details of the scene, all you can
notice is Christmas decorations and lights. The lighting itself wasn t overwhelming but just right and
what people expect for Christmas decorations. Costumes and the set up a scene stand out most to
people but makeup and hair styling are some details that help make scenes become complete as well.

Answer a) To prove that the BUBBLESORT actually sorts, we need to show that the A and A contains
the same elements. Since the only operation that we perform during bubblesort is swapping of
elements within the array, it is pretty straightforward to conclude that the A and A contains same
elements.
Answer b) Loop Invariant: At the start of each iteration (j) of the for loop (lines 2 4), A[j] contains the
smallest element in the range (j ... A.length). Also, the elements in the range (j... A.length) are the
rearrangement of the original elements in the range (j... A.length).
Initialization: At the first iteration when j = A.length, the only element present in the range (j ...

Termination: At the termination, all the elements in the original array are now in the sorted order.
Answer d) Since for each iteration of the outer loop, there is an inner for loop which runs for (n i)
iterations , we can conclude that the worst case running time of the bubble sort algorithm is Θ (n2).
Both the insertion sort and the bubble sort has the worst case running time of Θ (n2).
Question 2 4
Answer a) The five inversions of the array (2, 3, 8, 6, 1) are (2, 1) , (3, 1), (8, 1), (6, 1) and (8, 6).
Answer b) Set A = {1, 2, 3, 4...... n}
The number of inversions for an array is maximum when the array is sorted in decreasing order.
So, for the given set A, the number of inversion will be maximum when it is sorted in decreasing
order.
Array with maximum inversions, A = [n, n 1, n 2, n 3 ......... 1]
To calculate the number of inversions, we should keep in mind that the array is in descending order
and for every pair of elements in the array, we will have 1 inversion.
Number of inversions = ((n 1)+ (n 2)+ ( n 3)+ ......... + 1) = (n ( n 1))/2
Answer c) The running time of insertion sort is proportional to the number of inversions. By careful
analysis of the inner while loop in the insertion sort, we can see that each iteration of while loop is
equal to 1 inversion in the array. We can conclude that the total number of inversions is

  • 3. The Effects Of Social Media On Teens What effects does social media have on on teens? After reading the book Mediated by Thomas de Zengotita I had realized the over the too use of social media, by teens today, social media is leading to unhealthy mental and physical side effects. It is important to publicly state these effects in order to alert parents of what is happening to their teen. Through reading several articles on the subject, I quickly found and examined these unfavorable side effects, by constantly using social media people are becoming more isolated, loosing interest in their education, relationships, and experiencing several other psychological issues. Social media has taken over our county. According a study done by Georgia State University in 2013 around 50% of teens used social media sites the number grew dramatically from 25% in 2009. Social media has both good aspects and bad aspects, social media allows you to connect with friends and family across the world, social media gives you a chance to create stronger relationships and to build new relationships. However, the drawback from using social media is that it doesn t allow teens to have the real human interaction that you get when you talk to someone face to face. In addition, using social media demonstrated to spread untruthful, and sometimes personal information. There are some discussions about social media actually being positive, speaking from personal experiences I can see the both positive or negative effects of social media in ... • 4. Betrayal In The Count Of Monte Cristo Revenge Can be Bitter In the book The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas there are many acts of betrayal against one another. Fernand is quick to betray people for his own gain; especially Edmond, which led to a harsh grudge against him. Fernand s act of betrayal was the harshest against Edmond. From the beginning, Fernand envies Edmond s relationship with Merccédès and betrays him to get her. Fernand kept bugging Mercédès from the start about her love and devotion for Edmond, trying to dig out a false answer (Dumas 12). Edmond calls Fernand an enemy at first, not hesitant to strike him down until Mercédès explained who he was (Dumas 13). Fernand said, How can I get rid of him! What can I do? What can I do (Dumas 13)? Fernand is very jealous of Edmond s relationship with Mercédès, and Fernand s act of betrayal is the worst of all the acts of betrayal. He is not afraid to step on people to push himself higher in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fernand lies to many people of his status, not yet fooling the Count, who proceeded to call him out as Fernand rather than Morcerf (Dumas 393). Fernand! Roared Monte Cristo. One of my names is enough to strike terror into your heart, but I don t have to tell you what it is, do I? You ve already guessed it, haven t you (Dumas 393)? Just as the carriage was passing beneath the arch of the gate, a shot rang out and dark smoke floated out through one of the bedroom windows, which had been shattered by the force of the explosion (Dumas 394 395). When Edmond calls out Fernand, he doesn t just tell him who he is, but he also calls him out, stating how he wasn t who he was supposed to be. The Count jabs at Fernand, saying how he is supposed to be a soldier, bound by the law, who exhibits honor, trust and loyalty. The Count knows that he was not doing any of these ... • 5. Is Iago An Orator In Othello Who is Iago? How does one arrive at such evil intentions? How does one succeed in playing out these intentions? Iago is a true orator. Or is he? Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. Iago proves himself an orator through his ability to speak on any occasion, with success, and bases his rhetoric on imagination and subtlety. On the other hand, his rhetoric s intention, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why, say they are vile and false (III, iii) to imply that he is saving Othello from hearing such awful thoughts. Then he tells Othello You cannot, if my heart were in your hand;/ Nor shall not, whilst tis in my custody (III, iii) know about his thoughts in order to make Othello first curious and then concerned that the information Iago is withholding is crucial to know. Once Othello essentially begs Iago, he asserts that now I shall have reason/ To show the love and duty that I bear you (III, iii). This ruse baits Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications that Iago is making. This line also plays upon Othello s assumption and belief that Iago wants not only what is best for him, but that Iago would sacrifice himself for him. Therefore, Iago uses rhetoric to make imaginary faults plausible. Next, Iago is a character who adapts to each event, occasion, and position that he find himself in. He is able to speak to the advantage of his master plan regardless of the situation that presents itself. Iago proves himself a chameleon of rhetoric. He is able to fit his plan into all points of his rhetoric without a fault, just as Quintilian stated that an orator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the name implies, the instrumental groups used by this ensemble exhibit elements of a symphonic orchestra. (53 54) In the chapter To Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tale from Fairy Tales and Society: Illusion and Paradigm, Karen E. Rowe explores the depth and history of voicelessness of women and how the combination of spinning and tale telling was their way of speaking in a society that would not let them. Spinning is an ancient practice, showing up in biblical writings, such as in Proverbs expressing a spinner as a virtuous woman. She who spins is the model of the good woman and wife and presumably in many cultures of the subservient woman who knows her duty that is to remain silent and betray no secrets. (57) Philomela takes something that is so harmless and domestic and uses it to speak and break the silence that has been enforced upon her, speaking in another mode. This mode she is familiar with and has grown up doing. Ovid s account of what happened to Philomela is without a doubt a retelling, taken from a woman s narrative through the medium of weaving. This is also how fairy tales are regarded in later centuries, and Philomela became the prototype for female storytellers in later traditions. We move on to Arabian Nights, in which Scheherazade is the character of interest. Most people read this book as a tale of masculine adventures, and tend not to notice who is behind the telling of these tales. Scheherazade is a hero in the fact that she saves both virgins from slaughter and the King from his madness after he vows to marry virgins and kill them the next morning. She keeps him entertained with stories, stopping her tale midway through in the evening with a promise to finish it the next night. • 15. Punishment And Punishment In Education One of the basic human functions is to learn, whether it be a specific school subject or a behavior through observation. As one grows up, it is important to see how he or she was taught to treat people good, bad, honest, fair? How can violence be eliminated very early on in development? One form of learning is through punishment. Many times, punishment is used to inform a child or even an adult to not do a certain thing again while educating them on what is good or bad behavior considering the circumstance. Therefore, punishment is not only a teaching tool, but also a process that decreases the likelihood reoccurrence of a behavior (Hockenbury, S. E., Nolan, S. A, Hockenbury, D. H. 2015). As a young child, a punishment may have included taking away a desired toy or a treat that we wanted to obtain, such as going to the movies or getting McDonalds for dinner. It is easy to look back and reflect on past experiences of punishment that shaped us into who we are today. However, punishment is not simply a negative consequence of being a child; it can happen to people of all ages. For example, a punishment can be directed at adults who don t dress properly or arrive late to work. Punishment can be effective for all age groups because human beings are an imperfect species. It is never too late to improve one s behavior. Overall, the main purpose of punishment is to stop wrongdoings among all ages from happening repeatedly. I agree vehemently with this statement. This is why when I drive pass the Church day, after day, seeing no activity going on. No cars, no influx of people coming in and out of the doors. No pastor there on standby for any lonely, lost soul who is looking for solace within the confines of the Church doors. I become more and more disenchanted with the Church. The ideas I am trying to implement and initiate are often meet with great dissention from the people. They think fish fry s and car washes are ministry. They struggle with treating me as instructor, someone there to help teach them. I have never been so conflicted in my life. I want to see the Church grow. I want to see the Church standing in the community as the greatest pontificator of the Gospel, yet it lies dormant. It lies like a sleeping giant who is yet to understand the true power it possess. I think my greatest opposition stems from the fact the previous pastor was an idealist. He had great ideas and a great vision for the Church. • 18. Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by using membranes with small pores so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Home to about ten million people, this island country serves as a exports a variety of goods from cocoa to clothing around the world but mainly to the United States. But behind their massive amounts of exports there is plenty of history behind how the country was formed and important events that led to its independence and creation of the Government. Haiti was unexpectedly found by Christopher Columbus. While trying to sail and find a faster route from Europe to India, he ran into the Caribbean Islands instead. Haiti s first name was Hispaniola, named by the native Taino that lived there before French and Spanish settlers that landed there. During the 18th century Haiti was one of the wealthiest islands in the Caribbean due to its exportation of sugar. During that time there was also a large population of slaves that lived there. Nearly a half a million slaves lived in Haiti during that time. Due to the amount of slaves and the way they were treated by the European slave owners, a rebel group led by Toussaint l Ouverture ended slavery in Haiti and gained independence in 1804. The Western Imperialism in Haiti turned out to be a mishap and ended up dismantling and dividing the country. Due to the small size of the country, Christopher Columbus was able set up a settlement on the north coast of Hispaniola easily, although it was later destroyed by the natives. ... • 30. International Organisations, Agreements And Governance No man [or woman] is an island is a sentence that captures humanity s need for interaction in order to secure its best interests. In the context of international trade, supranational structures are necessary for all parties best interests. With globalisation proceeding at an ever increasing pace, the frequencies and magnitudes of economic interactions between actors of different states increases exponentially (Nye, 298). Growing complex interdependence creates a common interest for cooperation, in terms of pursuing a common framework of regulation and establishing a common standard (Nye, 299 301). As such, this begs the question of how the above can be implemented and achieved. International organisations, agreements and governance is the functionalist answer to the above question (Rourke, 165), even under the framework in which states only consider self interests. Throughout the course of time, these instruments have grown in number and complexity. Examples of their more rudimentary forms are the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which were both established more than one and a half centuries ago, providing a common technical standard among states (Rourke, 137). In the past century, more sophisticated forms of international governance in political economy evolved. • 31. Innate Response Essay The immune system is composed of two parts firstly the innate system and secondly the adaptive system. The innate response is the first line of defence and relies on pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) to recognise specific pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and provide a rapid response to the recognised pathogen. This system also has the complement system and phagocytic cells as its disposal. Pathogens expresses PAMPs which activate antigen presenting cells (APC), such as dendritic cells (DC), through ligation of PRR (e.g. Toll like receptors) found on the APC surface. The adaptive immune system, is the specific response against the pathogens. This response begins with the activation of T cells, CD4+ T helper (TH) cells, CD8+ ... But they use that concept as a metaphor for their thesis, that women writers were isolated and treated with approbation. In most literature, attics are dark, dusty, seldom visited storage areas, like that of the Tulliver house in The Mill on the Floss a great attic under the old high pitched roof, with worm eaten floors, worm eaten shelves, and dark rafters festooned with cobwebs a place thought to be weird and ghostly. It was in the attic of the house that I grew up in that, as a snooping teenager, I found the packet of letters from my mother to her first husband. Her FIRST husband. I had never dreamed that she had had but one husband my father. And had I not ferreted out those letters, I probably still would not know. Then, that night, my father took me aside I m sure at my mother s urging and confessed that he too had been married and divorced before he met my mother. In fact, attics frequently house just the sort of information I unearthed facts that one is too attached to to throw away, but which one very much wants to remain secret. Before a discussion of attics can begin, it is essential to define what is meant by attic and to distinguish attics from upper rooms. Not all third floor spaces are attics, because many larger houses have and had third floor rooms that were normal living spaces, sometimeshaving bedrooms and sometimes having a huge, finished room used for balls and other parties. Such rooms were furnished, and comfortably habitable. Such is the case with a room that is often cited as an attic that incarcerates a madwoman, the upper room in The ... Buckley created an essay in 1961 capturing the reluctance of todays society to complain about the things that things that are irksome. He divulges his opinion on why Americans are so unwilling to share their opinion on matters that are concerning to them irrespective of how trivial they may seem, or how enlarged the situation may be. Buckley describes several accounts in his essay from the temperature on a train not being the ideal setting, the strains of having to deal with a blurry picture at the movies, and the failures of a waitress to respond to his needs of more milk with his breakfast. He also speaks about having to take an airline attendances word as only script while he waits for the removal of his tray from his lap before continuing his writing, and awaiting a tool at a ski counter to sort out his own adjustments as he watches the worker sit and smoke. Buckley summarizes his experiences to share his opinion on why people, including himself, choose to shy away from the confrontation that is typically brought on by a simple complaint. But what are the true reasons for one s inability to complain in even the simplest of situations? William F. Buckley argues the answer to his own titled question within his essay being that; one: most people are far too reluctant to create negative attention to themselves; two: people always expect that someone else will speak up; and three: even if one has voiced their concern for a resolve more often than not the resolve is ignored or does not fall in line with the normal flow of things. The first experience Buckley shares with his readers is his commute on an overly crowded train where the temperature was exceedingly hot for the bulk of passengers. He witnessed his own transformation by losing his overcoat, then his jacket, and later his tie only to notice that the car was flecked with the white shirts of the passengers (7). He recounts his thoughts as to why he or anyone else didn t just let the conductor know their discomfort and attributed this discomfort to a rational explanation of an overstocked furnace, valve turned too high, or a maladjusted thermostat (29). Most of these newcomers came from Northern and Western Europe. Many came from Ireland and Germany, which experienced a massive potato famine in the mid 19th century. The Visible And Invisible In Edo Japan The Visible and Invisible in Edo Japan The Edo period in Japan was the result of strict social control and economic growth resulting in a burgeoning artistic scene. Art was a way of expressing the feelings and desires that was denied by social norms imposed by an authoritarian government. As a result, there was a clash of ideas that pushed artists to focus on subtle refinement of traditional styles and the values therein. This sentiment not only applied to religious art, but to secular art forms as well due to the wealthy patrons being a part of the systems that restricted society. However, this restriction created a unique environment that birthed art and ideas that are unique to their time and place as the lack of outside influences forced all to turn inwards for inspiration. Therefore, the balance between the visible and the invisible is represented in the design of the art. The first artwork is Pair of Phoenix Overdoor Panels (Ramma) which was designed in the 19th century during the Edo period for a Buddhist temple. The elaborate wooden carving derives its aesthetics from the ideas and symbolism that are attached to the phoenix. The sniper looked at his enemy falling and he shuddered. The lust of battle died in him. He became bitten by remorse (O Flaherty 166). Throughout the short story, of Horseman in the Sky , the reader obtained many character traits about Carter including, how he enjoys the outdoors, comparing it to a piece art, an while the sniper is a flat character, who we don t learn much about him, besides him being strikingly arrogant. The idea that an album established as great could have any sort of faults becomes something to be scoffed at or ignored. We lose the ability to critique when some sort of consensus has been achieved. The critical hivemind encourages us to move forward and accept the established masterpieces as masterpieces. And without a potential for hindsight, the worst portions of albums belonging to this universal canon are left without scrutiny. While Here Comes Your Man pulls off its musical and lyrical simplicity, La La Love You is so bogged down by keeping it simple that it is falling apart from the very beginning. Some may say that the sexually simple Hot Freaks is the weak point of GBV s 1994 lo fi classic, but the misguided swagger and self confidence guides the flow of the other opening tracks well enough. This song, which would work better split into three different songs placed elsewhere on the album, brings the momentum of Bee Thousand to a halt. It s something of a riff on a Post Punk sound, but bookended by a drum loop on one end and a sitar inflected verse on the other. The drastic difference between the three sections feels rushed and incomplete certainly something that Guided by Voices is familiar with, but the strength of their greatest albums allows these incomplete tracks to hide behind the bigger songs. The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation Flood Programme. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. Then, we imprint these ideals into the brains of children and they live their lives conforming and never thriving. Tim Burton, an advocate for individuality, uses his films to break these standards. Burton incorporates Misfit protagonists and Motherly/Fatherly figures in Alice in Wonderland and Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children to display that young people truly find themselves when they deviate from the path society chose for them. It is in Wonderland that Alice discovers her true path of slaying the Jabberwocky. Alice is looked down upon for her whimsical thinking and wacky comments in a society that strives for prim and proper. Luckily, for Alice, Wonderland shares her whimsical and wacky ways. Alice is not only accepted; she is cherished for she is the chosen one. She is no longer a misfit. Just like Jake, she finds her path by disregarding the one already chosen for them but that would not have happened without the help of Motherly/Fatherly figures. Burton frequently uses Motherly/Fatherly Figures to help push the main character towards reaching their full potential. For example, in the film Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, a middle aged man going through a mental break, guides Alice as she navigates her way through Wonderland. High key lighting and medium shots help to create a halo effect on him, for he is a light in the darkness. In the tea party scene, there are many dark colors and shadows, but not on the Hatter to show the contrast between him and the setting. Hatter is very protective of Alice just as a father would be of his daughter. He has watched her mature. Hatter also lost his family tragically, which leads him to crave the love and affection of family. Alice fills this void for Hatter. • 47. Persuasive Essay On Into The Wild Understanding oneself is one of the most important factors in living a free life, and living on the road can be a big part of this process. In the novel, Into The Wild, Jon Krakauer writes about a boy who ventures into the wilderness and inevitably learns more about himself on a journey right before he dies. In order to avoid his problematic family, Chris McCandless journeys into danger where he meets people who help him learn more about the world. Although he does eventually meet his end in Alaska, he leaves the world without worries or regrets. By living on the road and in nature, Mccandless is able to live the life that he wants and be free from the clutches of society. While living on the road can prove fatal, it allows a person to find themselves and avoid the problems of society; therefore, people should look to nature in order to better understand themselves. By living in nature, a person is able to truly understand what they want in life, and how to achieve it. Nature allowed McCandless to reflect and understand that it was the place that he wanted to be submersed in. Similar to many romantics, McCandless was a person who saw the beauty in nature and wanted to experience it for himself. He was tired of society and all the pressure that was put upon him by it. McCandless states to his father, I ve decided that I m going to live this life for some times to come. The freedom and simple beauty of it is just too good to pass up (92). Even before he enters the wild, McCandless has a sense that living in the wild is what is right for him. He knows that he wants to be free within the plains of nature instead of being confined by the walls that his parents placed him in. After his adventures through the country during college, he eventually saw it best to give up everything and seek himself within nature. What Mccandless wants more than anything is to be free from his uneventful life with his family that had high expectations for him. By being in nature and on the road, he is able to achieve this because he has no real connections to society. By being given the possibility of entering the beautiful and simple space given by nature, nothing can stand in the way of Chris s dreams and aspirations. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
