Earlier this month on the 6th of August 1945, the United States dropped the first ever atomic bomb on
Hiroshima to end the war and save over one million American lives. The bomb called the Little Boy a
uranium gun type bomb exploded with about thirteen kilotons of force. About 280,000 290,000

Skipping Class Is The Best Years Of Your Life
School is boring, says half of American students who routinely skips (Azuz). Many students think
skipping class is awful, while others think skipping class is a part of the college life. Skipping class
wastes money, more likely causes students to get a lower grade, and forces some students to play catch
up. Furthermore, skipping class can be a part of the college life. People say College is the best years of
your life. Students can t spend all their time behind walls. People are supposed to explore, find their
spot on this earth, and make the best of it. Skipping class produce more negative outcomes, but can
produce some beautiful positive outcomes. Skipping is not denying the education, but choosing what
type of education students want to receive.
Last year, I was the skipper of the freshman class. Sometimes, I just didn t feel like going to class, or
listening to the long boring lecture. I skipped each course at least three times. I m dropped a total of 3
classes last year, because I failed to go to class. I used to skip one class every week. English 101 class
was so long causing me to lose interest in the class. I would rather watch a documentary on how to
make napkins than sit in his class. I had to drop the class because I skipped so much, that I wasn t
going to pass the course. Another class, Politics 101 wasn t interesting to me. After I took the final
exam, I should have attended class every time. I only needed three points to pass with a C. The teacher

Recruitment Proposal For Senior Level Talent
MEMORANDUM
TO: CEO, HSS
FROM: Alyise Johnson, HR Director
DATE: April 29, 2015
SUBJECT: Recruitment and Staffing Proposal for Senior Level Talent As requested during our last
meeting, you shared with me your personal desire and HSS s need to establish a new recruitment and
selection process for employing senior level staff. Below I have provided a few of the top options that
the organization can easily put in place for the use of recruiting and selection new senior level staff.
Recruitment Methods Recruiting suitable candidates that are able to adequately handle and manage
senior level positions of the organization takes a great deal of time and patience. Placing
inexperienced individuals into advanced positions within HHS could ... Show more content on

2. Recruiters. For organizations that do not have the time or the resources to find suitable candidates,
they hire headhunters and recruiting companies to do the searching for them. These headhunters and
recruiters hunt down the best individuals in their particular fields, having thoroughly researched their
complete background, including their experience and accomplishments, and basically sell these
individuals to the appropriate organization. (Sutton, 2009) These companies also certify the candidates
they recommend, providing a money back guarantee if an organization is not completely satisfied after
a specific period of time.
3. Gamification. Gamification is the use of gaming principles and design in non gaming situations and
identifies potential employees by posing virtual challenges that require the skills necessary for a given
job. Gamification is effective because it can test a skill set, associate the company with something
people enjoy and produce a virtual feel for the culture of a particular workplace.
Selection Methods Selecting suitable candidates for senior level positions of the organization is also
an essential undertaking. There are several considerations an organization must take into an account
about a candidate before hiring them.
1. Credentials Assessment. It is very important to know what experience and skillset a candidate
brings with

What Would Happen If The Us In Singer By Peter Singer
It is not the responsibility of individuals to help their fellow man. Our resources are dwindling, and
there s no room to share. People and countries should learn to mend their own ways, and with reliance
on others for aid, they won t be able to do that. Garrett Hardin sees the world as a lifeboat. The people
inside of the boat are the rich, and the ones swimming outside of the boat are the poor. The population
of the people in the water is less than that of those in the boat. Hypothetically, there s 50 people in a
boat that s capable of withstanding a maximum capacity of 60. Swimming outside of the boat is 150
others. If the people in the boat were to let everyone on, it would sink; everyone drowns. This is what
would happen if The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But while it looks easy on paper, it is much harder than it appears. Singer uses unrealistic scenarios to
guilt the reader into donating. For example, he refers to a Brazilian film Central Station. A woman,
Dora, can make $1,000 if she can persuade a homeless 9 year old to follow her to an address, where
the boy is to be adopted by foreigners. She delivers the boy, and buys a new TV set with the money
she has made. Later on the woman learns that the boy has been sold to organ peddlers, and he will
soon be killed. The inference Singer is trying to make is that there s no difference between someone
who sells a child to organ peddlers, and an American upgrading their television set, because both are
ethically wrong due to the fact that the money could have been donated. But is passive selfishness
really on the same level as the direct murder of an innocent child? Despite the fact that the money for
a TV set could save a child s life, it is far different, than the brutal murder of a small boy. The
comparison is simply absurd, and this is not the only time he uses it. In another scenario, a man is on
the train tracks and is torn between saving a child or his Bugatti from a runaway train. The man
throws the switch, redirecting the train and saving his Bugatti. The boy is killed. These two, farfetched
scenarios were used to show that we too have the chance to save a child s life. Writers, politicians,
philosophers, religious leaders, try and guilt you into donating. And according to Singer, those who
choose not to give away their money, are compared to the many Germans who looked away when the
Nazi horrors were being committed, which is another outlandish

How Different Attitudes and Perceptions Are Shown Between Generations in the Play An Inspector
Calls
Older and younger generations perceptions on different aspects of day to day life vary greatly in the
play An Inspector Calls . Priestly uses character manipulation to highlight the conflicting opinions,
morals and social standards between the two generations. He uses their emotions to unravel their
attitudes towards their positions in society, and roles in Edwardian society, through the death of
someone they all allegedly knew and whose life they affected negatively.

should be handed everything on a plate. He wants Eric to learn to take responsibility but how can he

the things they say.
Arthur considers male s the dominant sex, they have to go to work, they have to lay down the laws
and the women stay at home and care for the children and make sure the husbands needs are attended
to. As an employer he knows he has a certain authority and uses this against his employees, overriding
their proposals. His analysis on his status in society is slightly higher than that of the actual situation.
Sybil is the more withdrawn of the two parental figures, she agrees with her husband on most aspects
and although some of her characteristics vary from her husbands she still has a high opinion of herself
and a low opinion of working class citizens.
Sybil dismisses the prospect of war just as her husband does and looks forward to a flourishing future.

Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Massachusetts Bay Colony
On paper, both Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay Colony were founded by charter companies in
hopes of finding silver and gold in North America. However, the real reasons each colony was
founded differed. Jamestown was founded by the Virginia Company of London, while the
Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded by the Massachusetts Bay Company. Both colonies ran into
similar difficulties after establishment. In the end, both were able to find a way to prosper.
The charters for both colonies stated they wanted to find silver and gold. In reality, the settlers did
want to find riches, but also had other motives. Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement
in North America and was founded in 1607. England wanted a settlement in the New World.
Jamestown settlers went in search of gold and silver deposits as well as river route to Pacific Ocean.
The hope was the river route would allow for easier trade with Asia. The Jamestown settlers included

The settlers were 1000 well educated Puritan refugees from England. They left England due to
increasing pressure against religious dissenters. The Puritans created the Massachusetts Bay Company
and convinced the king to give them a charter. The king was unaware of their religious views and they
sold him on the chance of finding gold and silver. Even though the king thought the reason for
settlement was finding silver and gold, the real reason was religious freedom. The Puritans wanted to
be able to practice religion as they saw fit.
The initial failures faced by both settlements were very similar. Early problems included hunger,
illness, harsh winters, and attacks by local Indian tribes. Additionally, the Massachusetts Bay Colony
lacked fresh water and arrived later in the year than they wanted. This late arrival gave them less time

counselling may help spouses to communicate the problems within their relationship and make their

Executive Summary
The attack performed on the network had the intention of making the online services provided to

acquiring the Administrator password for the systems and using each system to perform a large
quantity of requests for service to the web servers. By dissecting what occurred steps can be put in
place to prevent such an attack in the future. This attack can be summarized in a few bullets:

These programs detect when keystroke input is being directed to another location besides the currently

for early detection and removal before sensitive data is obtained.
For the actual attack that took place there are changes that need to be performed on both the client s
side as well as the server s side. These changes involve limiting the quantities of request either side
can make. For the client s I would recommend a firewall placed between them and the server which
would be configured to limit the amount of requests to be made to any outside source and either notify
and administrator or outright blocking additional requests beyond the threshold.
The same implementation should be made for the server as well. In the server s case the firewall
placed between it and any client should limit the quantity of connection from a source IP. The
unfortunate side of this, and why the client firewall be implemented, is that many clients can be
located behind one source IP address. This means that the server s firewall configuration needs to be
more lenient the the client firewall.
In addition to adding a firewall, the server itself should only allow a certain amount of it s CPU,
memory, and available bandwidth to processing these requests. The reason for this is that the
remaining resource availability allows for an administrator to gain access and

Subject: Technical Writing Audience Assessment
Date: 21 September 2017
________________________________________
The purpose of this memo is to define technical writing, relate it to my field of healthcare
management, and describe the audience (or audiences) for technical communication in the healthcare
setting.
Summary
Technical writing is used daily when communicating between professionals and consumers within a
business. Specifically, in a healthcare setting, technical writing must be successfully implemented for
a hospital to run smoothly. It must be easily understood and address a wide range of audiences that
require different forms of writing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A technical writer s principal task is to assist users who need specific information about a product and
provide directions on how to accomplish a task or other types of activities. Technical writers also
translate complex ideas and procedures into simpler writing, making it easier for the audience to
understand. The main objectives of technical writing include:
To be clear
To be concise
To be comprehensive
As a healthcare management and leadership major, technical writing plays a very important role in
running and operating a hospital or assisted living facility. Without a clear and concise method of
communication between the writer and other healthcare professionals, a hospital will not function
properly. Some methods of technical writing in healthcare include:
Communicating through printed documents or technology, such as medical forms, emails, text
messages or social media
Providing written directions about how to do a specific, such as a medical procedure
Translating complex medical terminology into simpler writing, making it easier for employees and
patients to comprehend

Supernatural Elements In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
The famous literary work of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a classic example of Medieval
Romance because it includes quests and tests, supernatural elements, and is set within a vast, fairytale
like landscape. One of the most obvious reasons why Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a Medieval
Romance is because the hero of the story is sent on a quest. In the first few pages, the story describes
how the Green Knight challenges King Arthur to a game. However, Arthur cowers from the thought of
doing it. So, Sir Gawain, King Arthur s nephew, volunteers to play the game for him, and the court
allows him to do so. The court assays the claim, /And in counsel all unite, /To give Gawain the game,
/And release the king outright (Lines 135 138). When in comes close to New Year s Day, Sir Gawain
heads out on his quest to find the Green Chapel. However, he finds a lord and his castle. He stays with
the lord and his wife for quite some time because the lord assured him that he would take him to the
Green Chapel when the day came. During his stay, the wife of the lord visits Gawain inside his
bedroom multiple times and tempts him. As the days progressed, Gawain received more and more
kisses from her, along with her magical green sash. Little did he know, that it was a test set up by the
Green Knight, who was disguised as the lord, to see if he would restore the gifts he got to him as well
and fulfill his part of their deal. You kissed my comely wife each kiss you restored. /For

Bon Fires. Bon fires were set across the nation to guide airplanes as visual reference points. That idea
only last two years as in 1923, the Postal Service installed rotating beacon lights along their routes to
guide airplanes, which are still used today to aid pilots in finding an airport at night time. Jumping
ahead to 1926, Congress passed the Air Commerce Act of 1926 which established rules for pilots to
follow, established airway, and operating aids to navigation (NATCA). A few years later, the city of St.
Louis hired the nation s first air traffic controller Archie W. League. He controlled airplanes with
colored flags indicating them to go or to hold (NATCA). Later these flags would be replaced by light
guns aimed at the pilot to indicate the same information. Flying (no pun intended) through to 1930 s,
1940 s, and 1950 s, the aviation industry exploded with advancements to control facilities and two
way radio communications to keep tabs on where pilots were. It wasn t until a crash in 1956 over the
Grand Canyon that radar surveillance was upgraded to verify airplanes were where they said they

Summary Of John Winthrop s A Model Of Christian Clarity
John Winthrop was born around the 1500 s in England which at the time had corruption due to
overpopulation and not enough money. He decided that it needed to be more peace against prosecution
of religion and joined a group called the Puritans. He and his group decided that they should be the
ones to have a safe community as Puritans. He and his fellow people set out on a voyage where a book
was written called A Model of Christian Clarity. For example, A Model of Christian Clarity says that
All men being thus (by divine providence) ranked into two sorts, rich and poor; under the first are
comprehended all such as are able to live comfortably by their own means duly improved; and all
other are poor according to the former distribution (Winthrop 178). This means that the Puritans
should be able to live the way they choose whether it be religion or rich/poor. He also emphasized
helping people and not wanting anything in return. He also wanted to emphasize that the land should
not be based on status and that everyone should help each other to have a more Puritan life. Winthrop
believes that everyone should live a more Christian life and have compassion to the poor if you are
wealthy by selling all of your things soon in order for them to eat. In A Model of Christian Clarity ,
Winthrop concludes with Deuteronomy 30 which says Beloved, there is now set before us life and
food, death and evil, in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one
another,

Explain Why My Religion Does Not Control Me
My religion does not control me. The authors E.L. Doctorow, Rushdie, and Paul who wrote in part of
Corinthian all have written that debate against one another. Doctorow is an American author is well
known for historical writing and wrote about how America is not full of infidels. Rushdie is an atheist
who had a bounty on his head from the Islamic state for years; he is known for his writing against
religion. Paul wrote the first epistle of Corinthian, which was directed towards the, the church of God,
in Corinth, Greece; he wrote about how love has do with the individual not God. These authors
contradict each other s claim: Doctorow disproves Rushdie s claim with religion causes freedom to

Doctorow claims the people of the United States want religion because it is an escape from society s
issues. In addition, the word infidels means one who doubts or rejects central trends of one s religion,
but this word is used more towards Christianity and Islam. However, the United States is made of
many different religions that people look over, such as: The Shakers, Swendenborgians, and
Adventists. Due to the religious freedom in America the nation is filled with a variety of praying,
singing and studying that are practiced by millions. Because of these varieties, many religions
developed in the U.S such as: Mormonism, Christian Science and Native American
Anthropomorphism. It s not about the United States being full of infidels it s about how the United
States decided to keep religion and politics separate. A lot of what Doctorow mentions goes against
what Rushdie ideas of religion are. Rushdie mentions in a sarcastic way that victors of war can t be
close minded because they have God on their side. Basically, saying that those who believe in God
tend to be close minded. In addition, Rushdie things freedom is restricted by religious rule. Doctorow
argues that a country that has freedom of religion gives people the freedom to believe and not believe
in anything they want; without the pressure of religious control. On the other hand, having freedom of
religion in a country allows people to have an open mind by accepting

after escaping from vicious enemies in Berea. In this city, the great philosophers, Socrates, Plato,
Aristotle, Epicurus, and Zeno lived and taught.
However, Paul viewed the city through the lens of Scripture. Instead of seeing the magnificent
buildings and the fine art, he saw a city full of idols. Paul saw the city as most unappealing and
distressed filled his heart. He took advantage of the opportunity to speak to the situation in the
synagogue and in the Market Place. In the market place, he encountered two groups of ... Show more

I see that you are extremely religious in every respect. With much wisdom, he commended them for at
least having a concept of religion. He did not accuse them of their philosophy or idolatry. By
beginning on a positive note, you avoid alienating your audience at the very outset. People who are
genuinely interested in others will often look for the positive in every negative situation and focus on
the positive instead of the negative. Yet, despite being religious, the Athenians were not saved by the
grace and blood of Jesus Christ. Just because a person attends church every Sunday does not make
him a Christian. Religion is empty without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
2. Connect with your audience (v:23).
Here we see the art of effective communication. Paul began his discourse where the people were by
referring to their altar dedicated to the unknown god. He used the altar to build a bridge to reach the
intellectual unbelievers. In other words, it became his launching pad to present his argument for the
monotheistic God. There were many altars in the city dedicated to different gods and for fear of
offending some deity of whom they were unaware, the Athenians erected an altar to this unknown
god. The fact that they established an altar to an unknown god, proved their ignorance. Paul said to
them, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. Here, Paul took the opportunity to

Dotus Variation Lab Report
Introduction
For the past few weeks in Biology 107, the class has been touching on the subject of evolution and
how it is brought about through various processes. Evolution is a concept that has been researched
extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day.
According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution)
first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents of
evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and nonrandom
mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural selection. According to
Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this
simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes (colors)
that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by predators. For
example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection pressure for the most part
were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the environment, more specifically the
green and clear colors who most likely blended with the grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were
subjected to negative selection pressure were much of the bright colored dots that stood out in the
environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange, and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many
similar documented cases and scenarios that go to show that these types of results are likely in the
wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in
response to predators. According to Herzog, Rabus, Ribeiro and Laforsch (coauthors of Inducible
Defenses with a Twist : Daphnia barbata Abandons Bilateral Symmytry in Response to an Ancient
Predator, ) the body torsion likely contributes to the increased survival rate of Triops induced
D.barbata. These two examples, although not even a fraction of experiments performed, show strong
evidence of the effects

Effects Of Reading Instruction On The Literacy Development...
The Effects of Reading Instruction on Students of Low Socioeconomic Status
Amelia K.L. Reynolds
Edmond, Oklahoma
Abstract
This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading
instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review the
methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more advantageous
method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is
to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and
how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected from peer review
journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers Library website. The majority of the
researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal
Storage. Given the findings of this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics
instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among
young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton Gillingham Approach,
promotes literacy growth for students who are at risk, however, its impact within a whole language
classroom are undetermined. This literature review suggests that multisensory phonics should be
utilized in a whole language classroom to determine if its use promotes growth in

Computers And The Field Of Computer Engineering
Electrical engineering is a wide field of study and the field of computer engineering is very intriguing.
Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100 years which is
a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and finding
advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always something new that
s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent advancements in what could
shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a new age of computing. That great
leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two years theirs been a lot of new and
exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first came up with the idea was Feynman
a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers. That they just couldn t handle the
amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with the first concepts of a quantum
computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward that can be attributed to a few
factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like google, Intel and IBM have started
to or have increased their resources and manpower on making quantum computing a reality. In 2014
John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara were working to make
qubit gates more reliable and controllable. During their research and experimentation, they got a

Nuclear Rocket Research Papers
July 20th, 1969. The day man landed on the moon. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin
made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our
celestial neighbour. Almost eight years prior President John F. Kennedy made his proclamation to the
American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an enormous one.
To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth was very costly.
Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocket is very costly and very inefficient.
There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost and increase the
efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is the use of nuclear
power.
A rockets is more or less a controlled explosion. This explosion is directed through a nozzle that
accelerates the super hot gas and creates a huge amount of thrust. This thrust is what lifts super heavy
rockets into space. This is basically how a chemical rocket works. Unfortunately, do to the nature of
an explosion there are two very important materials that are required for any explosion to occur. These
components, fuel and oxygen, are combined to create a combustion and thus thrust. There is a major
drawback to this. Spacecraft operate in space and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could not be further from the truth. Nuclear power production is a dangerous field that could
have extremely negative side effects if it is used wrong, but over that past five decades we have
greatly honed our skill of harnessing the atom to accomplish more productive tasks than negative.
There are various forms of nuclear power that run at an assortment of efficiency level; however we
humans only really have access to one form and it so happens to be the worst. It is known as nuclear

Role Playing Paradigm
Discussion The present research set out to test Nail et al (2010, March) theory that using a role playing
paradigm instead of deception as an adequate way of testing cognitive dissonance. To do this we
replicated Nail et al. (2010, March) experiment using the paradigm of being stood up by Chris who
was in a car accident (sufficient justification) or being stood up by Chris who received another
invitation for dinner by a different friend (insufficient justification). Our findings were in support of
Nail et al. (2010, March), with sufficient participants level of dissonance at (M= 2.49) and insufficient
participants level dissonance at (M= 8.05). The research also tested the theory that having social
support would reduce the dissonance. To do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meeting friends after being stood up was a form of positive social support. That support benefited
Chris in getting a higher rating. But what if the friends were a negative influence and during dinner
down graded Chris or even suggested you lash out? How much lower would Chris be rated even with
sufficient justification? Now consider if your political party did not win the election. If you surround
yourself with positive social support; people who agree and support your candidate; over dinner the
conversation could include ideas for reform, the next plan of action and the way to make the best out
of the next four years. This could benefit the country as a whole. But what would the conversation be
with negative social support? The same like minded people in a dinner conversation could end up in
violent outburst in the streets. What is going to happen to the country if the negative social support out
number the positive? The same theory could be applied to drug addicts. Most addicts understand that
doing drugs is harmful to themselves and those that love them. This causes cognitive dissonance. To
relieve this they search for social support; usually finding friends who use the same type of drug.
Since this is encouraging the poor behavior it is not positive social support. Positive social support
would be finding friends in group meetings

Transit Space After The Diavolo Performance
The interests of the theatrical criticism should involve telling the arts done by dancers, communicating
their message, and appraising their arts. The fundamental components of the art of dance are based on
the operations that the critic can perform. Some of them include the description of the dance, the
feeling, interpretation of the message, as well as the contextual explanation of the dance. The transit

The Theory Of A Paradigm Shift
Traditionally, the scientific community viewed progress developing cumulatively within a framework
of accepted facts. However in The Structure of Scientific Revolution, Thomas S. Kuhn argues science
also advances episodically rather than only continuously. Kuhn creates the concept of paradigm shifts
that changed science by transforming fundamental structures. Although Kuhn only attributes
paradigms shifts to natural sciences, many have applied this idea to other fields. In Discipline and
Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the rapid shifts in penal systems and the larger social implications
of such change. Foucault attributes the rise of prisons due to modifications in perceptions about
punishment and power. These reformations mirror paradigm shifts, since they fundamentally change
existing frameworks. Both Kuhn and Foucault demonstrate the importance of structural changes in the
history of ideas. To prove this claim, I will explain Kuhn s idea of a paradigm shift and relate it to
Foucault s analysis of how modern prisons emerged. In order to understand paradigm shifts, one must
look at normal science and how its impact on the scientific community. Kuhn defines normal science
as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements, achievements that some
particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further
practice (Kuhn 10). Normal science builds facts and knowledge within a set of guidelines, or
paradigms.

George Gascoigne s For That He Looked Not Upon Her
For That He Looked Not Upon Her is a poem written by 16th century poet George Gascoigne. In the
poem, Gascoigne uses sonnet form to organize his work. Next, he uses strong diction to help convey
the attitude of the speaker. Finally, Gascoigne uses imagery to bring the words to life through vivid
analogies. Gascoigne effectively uses form, strong diction, and active imagery to develop the complex
tone of the speaker. Gascoigne uses form to develop the complex attitude of the speaker. This poem
takes the form of a Shakespearean Sonnet. Because of the form he chooses to use, this poem can be
broken into three quatrains with a couplet to end the poem. In each of the quatrains, Gascoigne depicts
a different tone, which adds to the complexity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second and third quatrains, the speaker uses analogies to describe why he wouldn t return to his
lover. In each of the analogies, Gascoigne uses an animal longing for their object of desire. In the first
second quatrain, it is a mouse that doesn t not fall for the same trap it once escaped from. In the third
quatrain, it is the fly that will not be scorched by the same flame twice. In both analogies, the subjects
escape from a dangerous conflict, only to want to return to that conflict again, as the desire is one that
the subject needs to survive. By using this type of application to show the speaker s conflict, the
speaker better shows and develops their attitude towards the main subject of the poem. The imagery in
these analogies helps to create the complex attitude of the speaker because by using the analogy, the
reader is able to connect the speaker s feelings to a real life situation. The audience is able to better
understand the scenario because the author compared it to an everyday scenario that can be easily
pictured. Gascoigne skillfully uses imagery in the form of analogies to convey the complex attitude of

  • 3. Skipping Class Is The Best Years Of Your Life School is boring, says half of American students who routinely skips (Azuz). Many students think skipping class is awful, while others think skipping class is a part of the college life. Skipping class wastes money, more likely causes students to get a lower grade, and forces some students to play catch up. Furthermore, skipping class can be a part of the college life. People say College is the best years of your life. Students can t spend all their time behind walls. People are supposed to explore, find their spot on this earth, and make the best of it. Skipping class produce more negative outcomes, but can produce some beautiful positive outcomes. Skipping is not denying the education, but choosing what type of education students want to receive. Last year, I was the skipper of the freshman class. Sometimes, I just didn t feel like going to class, or listening to the long boring lecture. I skipped each course at least three times. I m dropped a total of 3 classes last year, because I failed to go to class. I used to skip one class every week. English 101 class was so long causing me to lose interest in the class. I would rather watch a documentary on how to make napkins than sit in his class. I had to drop the class because I skipped so much, that I wasn t going to pass the course. Another class, Politics 101 wasn t interesting to me. After I took the final exam, I should have attended class every time. I only needed three points to pass with a C. The teacher ... Below I have provided a few of the top options that the organization can easily put in place for the use of recruiting and selection new senior level staff. Placing inexperienced individuals into advanced positions within HHS could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Doyle) 2. Recruiters. For organizations that do not have the time or the resources to find suitable candidates, they hire headhunters and recruiting companies to do the searching for them. These headhunters and recruiters hunt down the best individuals in their particular fields, having thoroughly researched their complete background, including their experience and accomplishments, and basically sell these individuals to the appropriate organization. (Sutton, 2009) These companies also certify the candidates they recommend, providing a money back guarantee if an organization is not completely satisfied after a specific period of time. 3. Gamification. Gamification is the use of gaming principles and design in non gaming situations and identifies potential employees by posing virtual challenges that require the skills necessary for a given job. Gamification is effective because it can test a skill set, associate the company with something people enjoy and produce a virtual feel for the culture of a particular workplace. Selection Methods Selecting suitable candidates for senior level positions of the organization is also an essential undertaking. There are several considerations an organization must take into an account about a candidate before hiring them. 1. Credentials Assessment. It is very important to know what experience and skillset a candidate brings with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. What Would Happen If The Us In Singer By Peter Singer It is not the responsibility of individuals to help their fellow man. Our resources are dwindling, and there s no room to share. People and countries should learn to mend their own ways, and with reliance on others for aid, they won t be able to do that. Garrett Hardin sees the world as a lifeboat. The people inside of the boat are the rich, and the ones swimming outside of the boat are the poor. The population of the people in the water is less than that of those in the boat. Hypothetically, there s 50 people in a boat that s capable of withstanding a maximum capacity of 60. Swimming outside of the boat is 150 others. If the people in the boat were to let everyone on, it would sink; everyone drowns. This is what would happen if The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But while it looks easy on paper, it is much harder than it appears. Singer uses unrealistic scenarios to guilt the reader into donating. For example, he refers to a Brazilian film Central Station. A woman, Dora, can make $1,000 if she can persuade a homeless 9 year old to follow her to an address, where the boy is to be adopted by foreigners. She delivers the boy, and buys a new TV set with the money she has made. Later on the woman learns that the boy has been sold to organ peddlers, and he will soon be killed. The inference Singer is trying to make is that there s no difference between someone who sells a child to organ peddlers, and an American upgrading their television set, because both are ethically wrong due to the fact that the money could have been donated. But is passive selfishness really on the same level as the direct murder of an innocent child? Despite the fact that the money for a TV set could save a child s life, it is far different, than the brutal murder of a small boy. The comparison is simply absurd, and this is not the only time he uses it. In another scenario, a man is on the train tracks and is torn between saving a child or his Bugatti from a runaway train. The man throws the switch, redirecting the train and saving his Bugatti. The boy is killed. These two, farfetched scenarios were used to show that we too have the chance to save a child s life. Writers, politicians, philosophers, religious leaders, try and guilt you into donating. And according to Singer, those who choose not to give away their money, are compared to the many Germans who looked away when the Nazi horrors were being committed, which is another outlandish ... Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Massachusetts Bay Colony On paper, both Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay Colony were founded by charter companies in hopes of finding silver and gold in North America. However, the real reasons each colony was founded differed. Jamestown was founded by the Virginia Company of London, while the Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded by the Massachusetts Bay Company. Both colonies ran into similar difficulties after establishment. In the end, both were able to find a way to prosper. The charters for both colonies stated they wanted to find silver and gold. In reality, the settlers did want to find riches, but also had other motives. Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in North America and was founded in 1607. Even though the king thought the reason for settlement was finding silver and gold, the real reason was religious freedom. The Puritans wanted to be able to practice religion as they saw fit. These changes involve limiting the quantities of request either side can make. For the client s I would recommend a firewall placed between them and the server which would be configured to limit the amount of requests to be made to any outside source and either notify and administrator or outright blocking additional requests beyond the threshold. The same implementation should be made for the server as well. In the server s case the firewall placed between it and any client should limit the quantity of connection from a source IP. The unfortunate side of this, and why the client firewall be implemented, is that many clients can be located behind one source IP address. This means that the server s firewall configuration needs to be more lenient the the client firewall. In addition to adding a firewall, the server itself should only allow a certain amount of it s CPU, memory, and available bandwidth to processing these requests. • 16. Supernatural Elements In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight The famous literary work of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a classic example of Medieval Romance because it includes quests and tests, supernatural elements, and is set within a vast, fairytale like landscape. One of the most obvious reasons why Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a Medieval Romance is because the hero of the story is sent on a quest. In the first few pages, the story describes how the Green Knight challenges King Arthur to a game. However, Arthur cowers from the thought of doing it. So, Sir Gawain, King Arthur s nephew, volunteers to play the game for him, and the court allows him to do so. The court assays the claim, /And in counsel all unite, /To give Gawain the game, /And release the king outright (Lines 135 138). When in comes close to New Year s Day, Sir Gawain heads out on his quest to find the Green Chapel. However, he finds a lord and his castle. He stays with the lord and his wife for quite some time because the lord assured him that he would take him to the Green Chapel when the day came. During his stay, the wife of the lord visits Gawain inside his bedroom multiple times and tempts him. As the days progressed, Gawain received more and more kisses from her, along with her magical green sash. Bon fires were set across the nation to guide airplanes as visual reference points. That idea only last two years as in 1923, the Postal Service installed rotating beacon lights along their routes to guide airplanes, which are still used today to aid pilots in finding an airport at night time. Jumping ahead to 1926, Congress passed the Air Commerce Act of 1926 which established rules for pilots to follow, established airway, and operating aids to navigation (NATCA). A few years later, the city of St. Louis hired the nation s first air traffic controller Archie W. League. He controlled airplanes with colored flags indicating them to go or to hold (NATCA). Later these flags would be replaced by light guns aimed at the pilot to indicate the same information. Flying (no pun intended) through to 1930 s, 1940 s, and 1950 s, the aviation industry exploded with advancements to control facilities and two way radio communications to keep tabs on where pilots were. It wasn t until a crash in 1956 over the Grand Canyon that radar surveillance was upgraded to verify airplanes were where they said they were. Now the controllers have everything they need They have voice with pilots, and they have radar on pilots, but things weren t all smooth sailing for long. Her enthusiastic personality continues to inspire me to pursue a career in this field. After explaining my career goals and the details of this assignment, she gladly accepted when I asked if she would be willing to conduct an interview to help me complete this interview report. Professor Wilkerson received her Master s degree in Taxation from Georgia State University. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and has considerable experience in the field of accounting. A few of the topics we discussed were: the importance of teamwork, the way technology is changing accounting, the value of understanding finance and economics in relation to accounting, and the usefulness of receiving a degree in accounting and earning a CPA license. During the interview, Professor Wilkerson stressed that teamwork is a desirable skill to possess when entering the accounting field. She stated that it is important to provide examples of experiences working with teams or leading teams during the interview process, because most employers will place entry level accountants in groups or teams. The importance of teamwork is twofold; engaging in teamwork is an opportunity to show leadership skills while simultaneously meeting the challenge of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Summary Of John Winthrop s A Model Of Christian Clarity John Winthrop was born around the 1500 s in England which at the time had corruption due to overpopulation and not enough money. He decided that it needed to be more peace against prosecution of religion and joined a group called the Puritans. He and his group decided that they should be the ones to have a safe community as Puritans. He and his fellow people set out on a voyage where a book was written called A Model of Christian Clarity. For example, A Model of Christian Clarity says that All men being thus (by divine providence) ranked into two sorts, rich and poor; under the first are comprehended all such as are able to live comfortably by their own means duly improved; and all other are poor according to the former distribution (Winthrop 178). This means that the Puritans should be able to live the way they choose whether it be religion or rich/poor. He also emphasized helping people and not wanting anything in return. He also wanted to emphasize that the land should not be based on status and that everyone should help each other to have a more Puritan life. Winthrop believes that everyone should live a more Christian life and have compassion to the poor if you are wealthy by selling all of your things soon in order for them to eat. In A Model of Christian Clarity , Winthrop concludes with Deuteronomy 30 which says Beloved, there is now set before us life and food, death and evil, in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one another, ... Doctorow, Rushdie, and Paul who wrote in part of Corinthian all have written that debate against one another. Doctorow is an American author is well known for historical writing and wrote about how America is not full of infidels. Rushdie is an atheist who had a bounty on his head from the Islamic state for years; he is known for his writing against religion. Paul wrote the first epistle of Corinthian, which was directed towards the, the church of God, in Corinth, Greece; he wrote about how love has do with the individual not God. Doctorow claims the people of the United States want religion because it is an escape from society s issues. In addition, the word infidels means one who doubts or rejects central trends of one s religion, but this word is used more towards Christianity and Islam. However, the United States is made of many different religions that people look over, such as: The Shakers, Swendenborgians, and Adventists. Due to the religious freedom in America the nation is filled with a variety of praying, singing and studying that are practiced by millions. Because of these varieties, many religions developed in the U.S such as: Mormonism, Christian Science and Native American Anthropomorphism. It s not about the United States being full of infidels it s about how the United States decided to keep religion and politics separate. A lot of what Doctorow mentions goes against what Rushdie ideas of religion are. Rushdie mentions in a sarcastic way that victors of war can t be close minded because they have God on their side. Basically, saying that those who believe in God tend to be close minded. In addition, Rushdie things freedom is restricted by religious rule. Doctorow argues that a country that has freedom of religion gives people the freedom to believe and not believe in anything they want; without the pressure of religious control. As we open the text this morning, remember Paul is now in the intellectual city of Athens (show map) after escaping from vicious enemies in Berea. In this city, the great philosophers, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, and Zeno lived and taught. However, Paul viewed the city through the lens of Scripture. Instead of seeing the magnificent buildings and the fine art, he saw a city full of idols. Paul saw the city as most unappealing and distressed filled his heart. People who are genuinely interested in others will often look for the positive in every negative situation and focus on the positive instead of the negative. Yet, despite being religious, the Athenians were not saved by the grace and blood of Jesus Christ. Just because a person attends church every Sunday does not make him a Christian. Religion is empty without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. 2. Connect with your audience (v:23). Here we see the art of effective communication. Paul began his discourse where the people were by referring to their altar dedicated to the unknown god. He used the altar to build a bridge to reach the intellectual unbelievers. In other words, it became his launching pad to present his argument for the monotheistic God. There were many altars in the city dedicated to different gods and for fear of offending some deity of whom they were unaware, the Athenians erected an altar to this unknown god. The fact that they established an altar to an unknown god, proved their ignorance. Paul said to them, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. Evolution is a concept that has been researched extensively for over a century now and continues to bring interesting findings day after day. According to the Hardy Weinberg law (a principle that contributes to the understanding of evolution) first introduced by Godfrey Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg states that there are five possible agents of evolutionary change, including: natural selection, genetic drift, mutations, gene flow, and nonrandom mating. Nonetheless, the mechanism of interest for this particular lab is natural selection. According to Mader, Natural Selection is the mechanism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is only one case the results all seem to give a reasonable explanation to how this simulation can be applied in natural environments. It is logical to assume that the phenotypes (colors) that stand out in the environment (map) will most likely be the ones selected (eaten) by predators. For example, in this experiment the phenotypes subjected to positive selection pressure for the most part were dark colored dots or dots that were better blended into the environment, more specifically the green and clear colors who most likely blended with the grasses or trees. The phenotypes that were subjected to negative selection pressure were much of the bright colored dots that stood out in the environment, more specifically the hot pink, orange, and yellow colors. Furthermore, there are many similar documented cases and scenarios that go to show that these types of results are likely in the wild. One example is that of the tadpole fish who alter their body symmetry (the way they look) in response to predators. According to Herzog, Rabus, Ribeiro and Laforsch (coauthors of Inducible Defenses with a Twist : Daphnia barbata Abandons Bilateral Symmytry in Response to an Ancient Predator, ) the body torsion likely contributes to the increased survival rate of Triops induced D.barbata. Reynolds Edmond, Oklahoma Abstract This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This literature review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole language classroom to determine if its use promotes growth in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100 years which is a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and finding advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always something new that s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent advancements in what could shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a new age of computing. That great leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two years theirs been a lot of new and exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first came up with the idea was Feynman a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers. That they just couldn t handle the amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with the first concepts of a quantum computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward that can be attributed to a few factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like google, Intel and IBM have started to or have increased their resources and manpower on making quantum computing a reality. In 2014 John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara were working to make qubit gates more reliable and controllable. At 20:18 UTC Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made their historical landing on the lunar Sea of Tranquility and made the first footsteps on our celestial neighbour. Almost eight years prior President John F. Kennedy made his proclamation to the American people, that we would land on the moon. Despite the success the task was an enormous one. To launch a fiveteen ton capsule, send it to the moon, and then land it back on Earth was very costly. Even now, half a century later, launching any chemical rocket is very costly and very inefficient. There have been a multitude of ideas that have been proposed to alleviate the cost and increase the efficiency of the rockets and one of the more promising, albeit risky, methods is the use of nuclear power. A rockets is more or less a controlled explosion. This explosion is directed through a nozzle that accelerates the super hot gas and creates a huge amount of thrust. This thrust is what lifts super heavy rockets into space. This is basically how a chemical rocket works. Unfortunately, do to the nature of an explosion there are two very important materials that are required for any explosion to occur. These components, fuel and oxygen, are combined to create a combustion and thus thrust. There is a major drawback to this. Spacecraft operate in space and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To do this we replicated Nail et al. Our findings were in support of Nail et al. (2010, March), with sufficient participants level of dissonance at (M= 2.49) and insufficient participants level dissonance at (M= 8.05). Meeting friends after being stood up was a form of positive social support. That support benefited Chris in getting a higher rating. But what if the friends were a negative influence and during dinner down graded Chris or even suggested you lash out? How much lower would Chris be rated even with sufficient justification? Now consider if your political party did not win the election. If you surround yourself with positive social support; people who agree and support your candidate; over dinner the conversation could include ideas for reform, the next plan of action and the way to make the best out of the next four years. This could benefit the country as a whole. But what would the conversation be with negative social support? The same like minded people in a dinner conversation could end up in violent outburst in the streets. What is going to happen to the country if the negative social support out number the positive? The same theory could be applied to drug addicts. Most addicts understand that doing drugs is harmful to themselves and those that love them. This causes cognitive dissonance. To relieve this they search for social support; usually finding friends who use the same type of drug. Since this is encouraging the poor behavior it is not positive social support. Positive social support would be finding friends in group meetings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Theory Of A Paradigm Shift Traditionally, the scientific community viewed progress developing cumulatively within a framework of accepted facts. However in The Structure of Scientific Revolution, Thomas S. Kuhn argues science also advances episodically rather than only continuously. Kuhn creates the concept of paradigm shifts that changed science by transforming fundamental structures. Although Kuhn only attributes paradigms shifts to natural sciences, many have applied this idea to other fields. In Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the rapid shifts in penal systems and the larger social implications of such change. Foucault attributes the rise of prisons due to modifications in perceptions about punishment and power. These reformations mirror paradigm shifts, since they fundamentally change existing frameworks. Both Kuhn and Foucault demonstrate the importance of structural changes in the history of ideas. To prove this claim, I will explain Kuhn s idea of a paradigm shift and relate it to Foucault s analysis of how modern prisons emerged. In order to understand paradigm shifts, one must look at normal science and how its impact on the scientific community. Kuhn defines normal science as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements, achievements that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further practice (Kuhn 10). Normal science builds facts and knowledge within a set of guidelines, or paradigms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finally, Gascoigne uses imagery to bring the words to life through vivid analogies. Gascoigne effectively uses form, strong diction, and active imagery to develop the complex tone of the speaker. In both analogies, the subjects escape from a dangerous conflict, only to want to return to that conflict again, as the desire is one that the subject needs to survive. By using this type of application to show the speaker s conflict, the speaker better shows and develops their attitude towards the main subject of the poem. The imagery in these analogies helps to create the complex attitude of the speaker because by using the analogy, the reader is able to connect the speaker s feelings to a real life situation.
