Political Campaign Contributions Is Not A New Practice
Bribing government officials running for office by way of political campaign contributions is not
a new practice. A business donates a significant amount of money to a politician who then gives
them a government contract they want in return whether it be monetary gain by way of the
taxpayer or allowing them to break laws for the sake of their business. These practices come out
of the pockets of taxpayers and many politicians serve jail time for them. There are several
regulations put in place by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Boardand by individual states.
Recent studies in the past year, one done by Harvard University, have both suggested and concluded
that the United States of America is no longer a democracy, but an oligarchy. An oligarchy is a
form of government in which the richest people have the most power. It dates back to the time of
the first colonies. Part of the United States being reclassified as an oligarchy may be due to the
amount of government bribes the nation has going on at the present time. In the last presidential
election in 2012, there was talk about large corporations giving the political candidates campaign
contributions in order to buy them and it is a commonly discussed topic as of this day. Bribes
given to the government are common in underdeveloped countries where the government is
corrupt as this is an example of a corrupt practice. All levels of government from federal down to
local have been caught in some sort of

Homeless Youth Case Study
Many of the health issues faced by homeless youth are similar to those faced by anyone
experiencing homelessness. However, as adolescents, homeless youth are still developing
psychologically, cognitively and physically and may make choices that are not in the best interest
of their health. Before becoming homeless, these youth may have endured a chaotic and often
violent home life and they may be distrustful of authority and adults. For these reasons, homeless
youth can benefit from services that are specific to their needs rather than incorporated into services
for the adult homeless population.

In addition, homeless, unaccompanied youth face several barriers to obtaining an education. They
are often prevented from enrolling in school because of liability concerns, legal guardianship
requirements and curfew laws. In 1987, the Stewart B. McKinney Act established the Education of
Homeless Children and Youth Program. Unfortunately, the program has not yet received the full
funding authorized in 1987. Only 3 percent of local education agencies receive funding. The link
between a lack of education, unemployment and poverty is obvious. In addition to needing to
complete high school successfully, homeless youth need job training skills to be successful in the
job market. In some communities, the lack of appropriate employment opportunities is seen as
contributing to the incidence of street crime by at risk and homeless

Contrary to Coca Cola executives beliefs, the Pepsi Challenge didn t necessarily prove that
people preferred Pepsi to Coke; it just suggested that, when blindfolded, people preferred a small
amount of Pepsi to the same amount of Coke. Louis Cheskin s success as an advertiser is
notable because it proves that people don t always know what they want; they have to be told. In
the case of margarine, for instance, people weren t consciously aware that they would respond to
margarine wrapped in attractive gold foil it wasn t until Cheskin released margarine of this kind
that people discovered their attraction to such a product. It s also important to notice that Cheskin
didn t change the taste of margarine; rather, he only altered the product s presentation. Good
packaging can be very important because it catches customers eyes and convinces them that the
product itself is good, too. Cheskin s research into marketing and packaging has been very
influential, inspiring hundreds of companies to revamp their products. Once a new package or
advertisement is proven to be successful, many other companies will try to imitate that package or

Global Financial Crisis By The Wall Street Crisis
The purpose of this report is to study Global Financial Crisis 2008.This study is inspired by the
Wall street crisis and it covers why s and after effects of the crisis. After this crisis many of the
roots causes were observed like speculation, fragility of the system, greed of the managers which
adversely affected the market. The global financial crisisof 2008 is a major ongoing financial crisis,
the worst of its kind since the Great Depression (The Great Depression originated in the United
States occurred on October 29, 1929, known as Black Tuesday.). It became prominently visible in
September, 2008 with the failure of several large United States based financial firms. The
underlying causes leading to the crisis had been reported in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As demand for the CDOs started growing across the global investment community, the investment
bankers (like Lehman) who were meant to sell these instruments also started investing a significant
portion of their own capital in these.
As Wall Street firms like Lehman were churning more and more home loans into CDOs and
selling them or investing their own money, there was a pressure on the banks to issue more loans
so that they can be sold to the Wall Street firms in return for a commission. Slowly banks started
lowering the credit quality for availing a home loan and aggressively used agents to source new
loans. This slippery slope went to such an extent that in 2005, almost anyone in the U.S could buy a
home worth $100,000 (45 lakhs INR) or more without income proof, without other assets, without
credit history, sometimes even without a proper job.
The U.S. housing market went into a classic speculative bubble. Home loans were easy to get, so
more and more people were buying houses. The increased demand for houses caused the price to
increase. The rising prices created even more demand, as people started to look at homes as
investments investments that never went down in value.
In late 2006, Mortgage lenders noticed that people would choose a house, sign all the mortgage
papers, and then default on their very first payment. Although no one could really hear it, that was
probably the moment when one

Essay on Hiroshima by John Hersey
Hiroshima by John Hersey
The non fiction book Hiroshima by John Hersey is an engaging text with a powerful message in
it. The book is a biographical text about lives of six people Miss Sasaki, Dr. Fujii, Mrs.
Nakamura, Father Kleinsorge, Dr. Sasaki and Rev. Tanimoto in Hiroshima, Japan and how their
lives completely changed at 8:15 on the 6th of August 1945 by the dropping of the first atomic
bomb. The author, John Hersey, through his use of descriptive language the in book Hiroshima
exposes the many horrors of a nuclear attack.

radiation and burns caused by the dropping of the atomic bomb Hersey exposes to the reader the

In the book Hiroshima the author not only exposes the physical impacts right after the bomb but
also weeks and years after the nuclear attack. The effect of radiation caused by the atomic bomb
on people for most lasted for the rest of there live and often was the cause of the death and for
those who had children affected some of there children. One of the six people interviewed,
Father Kleinsorge who had only suffered minor cuts when the bomb had been dropped, a month
later they still hadn t healed and was suffering from high fever and abdominal pain and low
white cell count. But his character couldn t receive the one thing which would have probably
helped, a blood transfusion because with atomic bomb patients they weren t sure that if you stick
needles in them they ll stop bleeding. By telling the reader about Father Kleinsorge Hersey shows
the reader that the nuclear attack caused many people to suffer from radiation sick months after
the actual bombing and the irony is that one of thing that could save them could also kill them.
The author also tells us that by 1950 the incidence of leukemia in hibakusha (survivors of the
atomic bomb) was between ten and fifteen time above the normal, this was five years after the
bomb had hit Hiroshima. Hersey does this to show the reader that even for those that are lucky
enough to escape death and the terrible burns from the bomb they still are affected physically by

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by...
Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one
is forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to
situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though,
Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost
quality that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme
though which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought
provoking perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of
senses or the mind. In his poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is
now part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just
like a river...moving (Stevens 48). A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up
to the top a couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the
individuals the speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the
fifth part on the other hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the
bird becomes an objectified beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches,
the readers once again return to the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular
pattern can now be seen with the seasons. Another hint of a continuous process occurring the
process of perception.
In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks
about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet
of the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? Loazi, a philosophical
author, wrote in his book that one should Know the masculine, keep to the feminine. With that
being said, when the lines from the poem are re evaluated, it can be seen that the

Examples Of Healing In The Kite Runner
Healing takes courage sometimes that courage can be hard to find. The Kite Runner is a novel that
shows immense amounts of healing. The main character Amir goes through a deep struggle to find
self healing. After a long journey that is his life he has to overcome mistakes he had made in the
past in order to redeem himself from it.
What does it mean to heal? By definition the act of healing is the process of making or becoming
sound or healthy again. It is a form of recovering. The novel begins at Amir s childhood and
through his growth his struggle to heal is overcome. Amir lived in Kabul, Afghanistan with his
father, better known as Baba a long with their two servants Ali and his son Hassan. Amir and

He must conquer the favour asked of him by Rahim to recover Sohrab, Hassans son. It is on this

Assef being the twisted man that he is beats Amir leaving him heavily wounded. Amir finds
solace through his self sacrifice for Sohrab. He feels he has made up all the troubles with Hassan,
through Hassans son. While being beaten, rather than being filled with feeling of anger or
frustration, he is overwhelmed with happiness. I felt healed. Healed at last. A weight long sitting
on his shoulders in now relieved, he is no longer the coward he had been before.
Evidently the theme of redemption and healing highlights the book. Amir s growth from
beginning to end is so substantial. In the start we see Amir as a selfish brat and in the end he is a
kind hearted man with good morals and the ability to sacrifice himself for others. Through clear
mind, clear conscious and learning from mistakes characters were able to heal. Amir shows the
greatest ability to change for the better, making one hopeful in

Problem: How to process and harness large amount of data and use that information effectively.
Solution: The solution involves multiple components:
Continually develop solutions to organize and compress information so that large swaths of data
take up less and less space.
Use technology to increase time and speed.
Develop and foster a balanced system environment that effectively uses power, storage, and
networks to efficiently return desired query results.
Take advantage of innovation in external business environments and ensure system compatibility.

Introduction Innovations in computer processing, data storage, analytics software coupled with
reduced costs have contributed to the emergence of big data as a mainstay in the world of
Information Technology. It is no secret that businesses have been looking for ways to parse and
effectively convert the vast amounts the data they ve been able to collect since technology has
allowed them to do so. However, until recently, that has proven either too expensive or arduous
of a process. Peter Sloot, in a call for papers referring to this very topic addresses what is known as
the Big Data problem,
Such Data Explosions has led to one of the most challenging research issues of the current
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era: how to effectively and optimally manage
such large amount of data and identify new ways to analyze large amounts of data for unlocking
information. The issue is also known as the Big Data problem, which is defined as the practice of
collecting complex data sets so large that it becomes difficult to analyze and interpret manually or
using on hand data management applications. From the perspective of real world applications, the
Big Data problem has also become a common phenomenon in domain of science, medicine,
engineering, and commerce
With emerging analytic capabilities, however, businesses are able to use the data to better predict,

Analysis Of Dutchman And The Ethics Of Living Jim Crow

authors are trying to convey become clear through their effects on the reader. In my essay I will
explain how the authors use literary terms to help the reader gain a better knowledge in their
work. In Amira Baraka s work Dutchman symbolism has a major effect on the overall message
as a whole. Although, we see many forms of symbolism there are two that really jump out to me.
First, when Lula murders Clay. That to me is a symbol of the racism and what it does to its
victims especially back in that time period. Clay puts in a great effort to fit in with the people

The train in the story may be a symbol of the life of a black man in today s society. We live make
a mistake or fall into an unknown trap then you die. Basically, opportunities and chances don t
come often for the minority male species. The long train ride allows a man to feel the freedom
he so desires and ends once that freedom is no longer available. On the other hand Richard
Wright writes about life experiences living under the Jim Crow laws. The informative and
chronological style of writing Richard uses deeply affects the reader while taking in what is really
happening during this time. He begins by giving us the harsh reality behind the racism he s
dealing with. Wright begins by describing the land to show us how not only did the South have a
plethora of racist acts but, the towns were also set up in a racist manner. Wright linked anything
green to white people because the only green in town was found where the white people lived.
Blacks didn t get quite good as their yards were filled with cinders. The blacks and whites were
also separated by railroad tracks. Of course, the blacks were behind the railroad tracks maybe to
emphasize white supremacy. The Jim Crow laws simply meant that white people could treat
blacks any way they wanted to and blacks couldn t retaliate. We received this message very clearly
when Richard began to talk about the play wars he and his friends had

Dawn and the film District 9 describe slavery in the sense of learning and rejection from both

are the black South African humans that were emerged to look into survival during the time of
Apartheid. The black South African was the humans that were inside district 9 with the prawns.
The black African people were treated the same as the prawns under their own oath. Another sign
of slavery is how the black Africans used their goods for trading with the prawns. The black
Africans also had a sort of power over them especially when they had cat food.

Comparing Invictus And Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
People in life like to cope with hard challenges in different ways, a way people like to deal with
there hardships are by writing poems like Invictus by William Ernest Henley and Do not go
gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas. Do not go gentle into that good night is about a
poet whose father is on his deathbed. Dylan is a struggling alcoholic and the only person to
believe in him was his father. Invictus is about William who has tubercular arthritis and is writing
about how he must stay positive to keep fighting for his life. Both Invictus and Do not go into that

is self motivation and more inspiring. Invictus is a poem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poems are different for Invictus is a self motivating poem telling you to not fear deaf and to
not fear living under circumstances that do not work for you. Do not go into that gentle night is
different from it because it is Son to father and talks more about fighting against death and doing
whatever it takes to survive. On the other hand, both poems are very similar as they talk about
fighting whatever challenges are thrown at you no matter what the circumstances are. The second
theme is similar because they both talk about death and it is a HUGE theme in the book. Invictus
talks about death when it says Under the bludgeonings of chance/ My head is bloody but
unbowed. (7,8) which is saying that even though he is down he is still fighting and will not give
into death. In Do not go into that gentle night it talks about death when Dylan says Do no go
gentle into that good night (6) and what he is saying here is do not die without putting up a fight
first. The final and last similar theme is resilience, it talks about recovering fast and wanting to get
better. That is what makes the poems so similar and

The Structural Strain Theory Has Occurred
When socially accepted goals cannot be reached through legitimate means, the structural strain
theory has occurred. A mismatch that occurs between legitimate means and socially promoted
goals has a typology of responses in the strain theory. Merton s typology extends the functionalist
perspective. He believed that larger deviancy rates were because of social conditions and the
varying responses. One of the responses to social strain that accepts legitimate means of pursuing
socially promoted goals is conformity. Another response to social strain is ritualism. People reject
or give up the socially approved goal, but continue pursuing other goals through the same
legitimate means (MindEdge, 2015).

College is time consuming. You must make time out for your class study and homework time. I

ideologies with regards to what is positive and negative in the world that we live in. A part and
parcel of human nature has always been an individual desire to be a part of the perfect world
which unfortunately is mainly stimulated by individuals in power. Therefore this bore a
disagreement and critique among minorities and has been exploding over the centuries in different
forms of cultural movements. One of the greatest cultural trends began in Zurich and it is known as
Dadaism. During World War I a group of individuals created Dadain reaction to what they
perceived to be negative and opposite of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The message that Dada and Punk tried to achieve through their work in the context of desired
reality is very similar as both of them bore from a social outburst. Punk was a form of artistic
anarchy against system control and specific pattern of society, whereas Dada was an Anti War
movement . However, very interesting is the fact that they were relatively unrelated and occurred
around 50 years apart. Although the vocalist of a very controversial punk rock band Sex Pistols ,
Johnny Rotten said he had never heard about Dada there can be found the same themes of
inspirations as in Dadaism. Therefore assuming that the group Sex Pistols did not model on
Dadaism and any other movements or trends, this might be associated with a human nature. The
nature, that does not like to be manipulated, controlled or skipped as a microscopic minority.

According to Griel Marcus, the author of Lipstick Traces book, both movements are completely
nihilistic and propagating belief in nothing and the wish to become nothing. Punk was against
everything and at the same time finding its equilibrium in nihilism. This was clearly exposed by
Sex Pistols in song Pretty Vacant which involves the Dada cry of nothing is true; everything is
permitted . Moreover, freedom and fighting against the stereotypical art were the keys in

Is Doing The Right Thing Wrong By David Montero
Child Labor
Your child is the person you have taken care of since birth. That does not change around the
globe. What does change is how the child lives their life. Do they spend their evenings dancing to
a popular tune bought on a $200 iPod, enough to buy food for a month for a poverty stricken
family, or sewing the seams of shoes together so they can earn money, only for some childthe same
age to wear it once and forget about it. Would you stop buying these products just because they
were made by someone around the age of your child? Do you really think you ll be helping them by
not buying these products instead of donating to the nearest charity? People should not halt their
consumption of products just because children were the manufacturers.
Many children work in factories to help support their families. As Americans, we always say to
help others in need, but when we find out children are working to support the family, we believe
not buying the products made is beneficial and just when in reality it hurts the child. According to
the article Is Doing the Right Thing Wrong? by David ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, the occupation of adolescents is not coming closer to an end but perhaps just
farther away from factories. In actuality, the responsibility does not lie with the company but with
the government, according to Is Doing the Right Thing Wrong? by David Montero. Why must we
boycott the establishments instead of the rГ©gime? After all, the government is the force of action
that allows child labor. If someone is to be punished for child labor, it should not be the companies
nor should the retribution be preventing consumers from buying a certain brand. The issue should
be handled politically and with the representative of the nation, not some basic corporation that

What Is The Theme Of Society In Fahrenheit 451
As society progresses, technology and customs often progress proportionally. Social customs, and
the way a group of people function as a whole are often altered by significant events or a change
in societal variables. Occasionally, this leads to situations in which certain facets of society begin
to drastically differ from their original form. Take for example, the abolition of slavery in the
United States in 1865. Slavery had been a vastly unchallenged component of American society until
that point (excluding the period of abolition efforts). When this changed, the government had to
implement a number of laws that reversed prior legislation concerning slavery. In many ways, Ray
Bradburys fictional society in his dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451mirrors this by presenting a
repressive community in which many factors contribute to mass apathy and a passive state of
perpetual passive occupation. Social contact is central to human happiness, but as our technology
increases in its proficiency, there tends to be a disconnect in interpersonal contact. This feature of
society is predicted 64 years ahead of time, and is highlighted frequently throughout the book,
manifested in Mildred s ear seashells and talking walls for entertainment. On a walk with Montag,
Clarisse mentions that she is often ostracized from her peers due to her antisocial tendencies.
However, the audience must pause to consider what she means by antisocial here to fully grasp the
gravity and relevance of her

Chinese Influence in Japan
In the early seventh century, Japan borrowed heavily from China, taking many ideas and
philosophies. It was instituted by Prince Shotoku, the crown regent in Japan at the time. He sent
emissaries to China during the reign of the Tang Dynasty, in a movement known as the Taika
Reforms. During this time, Japan was influenced by China to unify the country in order to design a
more developed country, evident with new infrastructure being created and a new system of

To begin with, Chinese influence in Japan gave the idea of infrastructure available to the people.

Analysis Of Late Night With Seth Myers-Harvey Weinstein...
The me too hashtag has been used on social media, after many of Hollywood s most famous
actresses came forward with allegations against movie producer, Harvey Weinstein. The hashtag
encourages women and men to speak up about their personal experiences with sexual harassment
to promote awareness. A recent article published by Fortune Magazine addressed how important it
is to have a voice, more than half of all American women 54% have experienced unwanted and
inappropriate sexual advances at some time in their lives . The article states that 33 million U.S
women have been sexually harassed and 95% of maleperpetrators of this type of abuse usually go
unpunished. The video Late Night with Seth Myers Harvey Weinstein Apology conveys a
compelling message. The footage efficiently encourages their audience to be aware of sexual
harassment, be mindful that their actions could be interpreted as sexual harassment and be aware
that if a woman or manis being subjected to sexual harassment that it is their responsibility to
support and assist the victim not the alleged perpetrator. With humor, the women of Seth Myers
writing team convey this message with expectancy violation theory, cognitive dissonance and the
persuasive theory of planned behavior. Although the message conveyed in the video is strong, it
would be more useful if it could reach a broader and more diverse audience through narrative
paradigm, lead member exchange and the artistic proof of logos.

Toulmin Analysis of Attraction Essay
Toulmin Analysis of Attraction
In The Mystery of Attraction, Harville Hendrix claims that attraction between human beings is
based on a number of factors that ultimately leave human beings baffled on exactly how humans
experience such intense emotions as seen in romantic love and why so many couples tend to have
complementary characteristics. He supports this claim by explaining several theories of attraction.
His biological theory of courtship states that we instinctively select mates who will enhance the
survival of the species (483). This theory suggests instinctive evolutionary attraction such as a

The backing for his warrants takes the form of a list which depicts ten main characteristics of a
marriage. Most of the characteristics are based around the subconscious mind of humans, placing
much emphasis on the basic needs and desires of a person. The results of a poll are also included
at the end of the essay which reinforces the author s exchange theory.
As a qualifier, Hendrix states that Although these three theories help explain some aspects of
romantic love, we are still left with our original questions (484). He says that despite a plentitude of
research, the answers remain a mystery.
Critique: I found this essay to be enlightening in several ways. Not only was the information
presented in an organized way, but it was also very interesting. I agree with the author s statements
about the trials and tribulations of relationships, and I find myself agreeing most with his
biological theory of attraction. I especially liked the psychological direction of the essay, as it
remained fairly objective and scientific while still presenting new and different ideas as witnessed
by his inclusion of historical facts with the addition of his own unique analysis and commentary

... what mystery, that broke out, now in fire and now in blood, at the deadest hours of the night?
What creature was it, that masked an ordinary woman s face and shape, uttered the voice, now of
a mocking demon, and anon of a carrion seeking bird of prey? (BrontГ« 221). A brief synopsis of
Charlotte BrontГ« s novel, Jane Eyre, is present in this short quote, which describes the mystery that
is present within the novel. As well as its gothic sensation, romanceis present as well, giving the
novel its feminine characteristics. Foreshadowing is a main aspect which helps prolong the
suspense in the novel. The element of foreshadowing helps the reader foresee the upcoming events
in the novel. These gothic elements create a mysterious plot within the novel, which escalates
during the climax. Novels in the Gothic Romance genre include many mysterious events, as well as
a twisted love story. Jane Eyre is classified as a Gothic Romance due to its gloomy setting, elements
of mystery and suspense, and supernatural components.
In like manner, Jane Eyre contained a gloomy setting that follows throughout the novel. The first
main indication of Jane Eyre being a Gothic Romance was when Jane was living at Gateshead
Hall. When Jane was sent to the red room, imagery was presented which links the room to the
idea of death. . . .. it was in this chamber he breathed his last; . . . and, since that day, a sense of
dreary consecration had guarded it from frequent intrusion (BrontГ« 8). Having a

A Comparison Of Nicholas And The American Restoration...
Allen Diles, in A Comparison of Nicholas of Pelhrimov and the Taborite Restoration with Alexander
Campbell and the American Restoration Movement, attempts to relate religious movements that
occurred more than four centuries apart: the Taborite Restoration and the American Restoration.
Further focus is place on the leaders of these movements, Nicholas of Pelhrimov and Alexander
Campbell. A connection between these two men is scarcely made; moreover, many students of
religion are ignorant to the existence of the Taborite Restoration and Nicholas of Pelhrimov. Diles
endeavor to connect these men and the reformation movements they were involved in was
lucrative, as it connected a semi modern movement with a little known medieval movement, but his
presentation of the connection between these movements prevents the connection from emerging in
a manner as compelling as it possibly could have. Diles composes his article in response to the
neglect of the Hussite movement, of which the Taborites formed the radical wing of, in modern
times and the often exclusion of Nicholas of Pelhrimov, an individual whom he feels was critical,
when the Hussite movement is studied. In his thesis, Diles states, Although Nicholas himself is
obscure to Americans and among scholars of the Stone Campbell Movement, the Taborite
movement is rarely mentioned, and examination of Nicholas and his movement reveals striking
similarities in thought, if not in form, between the medieval Taborite reform and that

Buddhist Art in Japan Essay
Buddhist Art in Japan
Buddhism had an important role in the development of Japanese art between the sixth and the
sixteenth centuries. Buddhist art and religion came to Japan from China, with the arrival of a
bronze Buddhist sculpture alongside the sutras. Buddhist art was encouraged by Crown Prince
Taishi in the Suiko period in the sixth century and Emperor Shomu in the Nara period in the eighth
century. In the early Heian period Buddhist art and architecture greatly influenced the traditional
Shinto arts, and Buddhist painting became fashionable among the wealthy class. The Amida sect of
Buddhism provided the basis for many artworks, such as the bronze Great Buddha at Kamakura in
the thirteenth century. Many of the great artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of Buddhist art was helped greatly by crown prince Shotoku Taishi (573 621) who
travelled around the country, establishing Buddhist temples and appointing painters to paint the
images to decorate them. In fact, one of the main reasons Buddhism became popular was due to his
efforts. Without [Shotoku s] inspiring patronage Buddhist art could hardly have flourished so
successfully among his countrymen. (Anesaki 1975: 20) The main temple he built was the Horyu ji
temple near Nara, now the oldest wooden structure in the world. Inside the kondo, or golden hall, sit
large statues of Buddha and two Buddhist saints (bodhisattvas). Also at Horyu ji are carved wooden
Guardian Kings of the Four directions, and the Tamamushi shrine. Similar temples appeared at this
time through the Kinai provinces, or western Japan, where Shotoku travelled.
Buddhist art continued to flourish under the reign of Emperor Shomu in the eighth century, who
built the enormous sculpture of Buddha at Todai ji. This 16 metre high sculpture used up all the
copper in Japan, which for several hundred years had no bronze production because of it. The
construction of this temple, and similar temples in Japan s provinces was inspired by a fervent
desire on the part of secular leaders of the time to create in Japan the ideal Land of the Buddha.

Holden s Red Hunting Hat Analysis
On the departure of childhood innocence and on the brink of adulthood, J.D. Salinger s The

1950 s teen between the child and adult world. Stationed in a mental hospital, Holden tells a

to Holden. Holden tells a journey of him navigating through New York City meeting old friends

Holden is outspoken about his anger and frustrations, but Holden is also a confused teen that is
apprehensive about people s view of him. When describing his hat, Holden subtly divulges his
insecurities when he says, It only cost me a buck. The way I wore it, I swung the old peak
around to the back very corny, I ll admit, but I liked it that way (18). Holden expresses that he has
a particular style of wearing the red hunting hat; he has his own unique and individual identity.
However, Holden knows that his corny and bizarre way of wearing his hat is unfashionable under
societal norms. Therefore, Holden is pressured into doubt and suppressed of his definitive character
by the superficiality and phoniness of adult society. Again, the red hunting hat manifests Holden s
ambivalence about his individuality and character as Holden puts on his red hunting hat after he

consciousness about encountering a person he knows when he his donning his red hunting hat as
he fears judgement and criticism about his unusual sense of style and character. Internally, Holden
is insecure and doubtful about who he is in society so he is cautious in showing his red hunting hat

Insurgent Definition Essay
Insurgent is defined as a movement or political effort with a specific aim while defining terrorism
into a simple definition is not as easily accomplished (Spindlove Simonsen.) For the purposes of
this paper, terrorism will be defined as the use and/or threat of repeated violence in support of, or in
opposition to, some authority, where violence is employed to induce fear of similar attack in as
many non immediate victims so that those so threatened accept and comply with the demands of
the terrorists (Spindlove Simonsen.) It is possible to have an insurgency without resorting to

the case of Afghanistan, the country has a long history if insurgency against occupying forces and

Not only does the U.S. produce wine to be sold in the U.S. but last year they exported around 403
million liters of wine, the majority was exported to Canada and the United Kingdom.
The price of grapes depends based on how the grapes were treated prior to being sold. This has
an effect on how much it cost to produce the wine, but it also affects how much the wine will
cost to the consumer. There is a price different between fresh grapes and grapes that have been
processed. In 2009 the average price for one ton of grapes was around $505. When examining the
cost of producing wine there are many factors in which you have to look at. Factors many include
but are not limited to, the grapes, the process of fermentation, the storage, the labor and time, the
bottling/packaging, and of course the shipping of the products to the customers. The total cost of
wine in California in 2009 was around 1.7 billion dollars, which included the production of 3.4
million tons of wine grapes.
The pricing for the products themselves are harder to approximate. There are many factors that go
into deciding the price for a certain type of wine, with a certain name, from a certain company,
containing a certain type of grape, that was processed a certain way. Many wine companies
throughout the US have a high end wine and a low end wine. This allows the company to enter the

Anglo Saxon culture consisted of receiving fame, glory, and wealth through acts of vengeance and

Through acts of vengeance, a never ending war occurs.
It is said in Beowulf that old tongues poke and prod youngsters to wars with incendiary
comments like, That sword, that previous old blade over there, I think you know it friend. Your
father carried it, fought with it the time he could swing a sword; The Danes killed him and many

In this quote, Beowulf believes that it would be cowardly to fight Grendel with a sword and that
facing him with only his hands is the only way to do it right. The word struggle really shows
how an Anglo Saxon life must be lived. In Anglo Saxon culture, you had to show signs of
struggle for everything you owned or else it would seem as though it were illegitimate and
others would look down upon you if items or positions were just given to you. Those who take
vengeance with courage are thought deserving of the wealth they get from those of high social
status according to Anglo Saxon culture. A courageous warrior can earn quite a lot and you can
see this after the defeat of Grendel and Hrothgar states And take, in return, whatever you may

and honored, though they fought no enemy like yours. Glory is now yours forever and ever; your

Gaius Julius Caesar Analysis
The Things Which are Caesar s
Gaius Julius Caesar was a military commander, a Roman consul, and Dictator of Ancient Rome.
His military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in
Rome. Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In
representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesarsketches a picture of his influence
on his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same
period. Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s
influence emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman
Senators and inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens.
In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as
unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander.
Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts
that the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman
Senate is using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were
advocated; and the more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar
s enemies (pg.36 40). This account paints Caesar s opponents as harboring a vendetta which will
result in destruction for Rome. Caesar portrays the Senate s persecution

Sam Patch s Leap into the Great Divide
Some things can be done as well as others , the famous line of Sam Patch became a well known
saying amongst U.S. citizens especially Jeffersonian and Jacksonian democrats (Johnson, 163).
Sam Patch was many things in his lifetime from a famous falls jumper to a destitute mill worker to
also the first American born boss spinner. He however was viewed different amongst social groups
in America. The common folk and Jeffersonian democrats viewed Patch as a good man and
somewhat of a folk hero, while the middle class and Hamiltonians viewed him as a drunkard and a

On the other hand; the middle class who was most often associated with Hamiltonian views
viewed Sam Patch as a simple drunkard and a symbol of the decay and immoralities of American
society. Journalists during his time wrote Sam Patch like many other great geniuses is a greater
friend to the bottle than the bottle is to him (Johnson, 115). The middle class viewed themselves
as respectables and the wage earning class was inferior to them, which is evident in the
celebration ceremonies in Paterson on the Fourth of July. Celebrations started off with a parade,
banquet, and fireworks where all Patersonians were welcome to participate, but gradually
transitioned to a more exclusive celebration of a large group of respectable Young Men where
toasts weren t based on patriotism anymore yet based on entrepreneurial progress (Johnson, 65).
Sam Patch s celebrity and life not only showed growing social and political differences, but it
showed the increasing gap that was growing between the wage earning and middle class as a result
of the market revolution.
The wage earning class was the debtors, debtors who owed money and had to work to make a
living for creditors, most of whom made up what would be known as the middle class. The
tradition of fathers passing their land on down to their sons was slowly dying such as with Mayo
Greenleaf Patch and his sons. Mayo Patch s life was riddled with owing debts to the middle

Head Hair In Ancient Egypt
In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a
shaven head with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were
worn by older people to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an
easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status
to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius
s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s
body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut
head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class
status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried
woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up
in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles
hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding
each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women would shave their heads when they are married

Three Main Factors Leading To The Fall Of Mayan Civilizations
Mayan civilization, as one of the most dominant indigenous societies throughout the history, has
never been forgotten either by historians or normal people. With its vigorous development, an
era of Golden Age began during the Classic Period. However, once untouchable, Mayan
civilization crashed in such a short time as if it had never appeared before. The collapse of
Mayan civilization is like a mystery for historians today, so they never give up searching for
evidence that caused the dramatic reversal in history. Since there was not a decisive cause led to
the fall of Mayan civilization, three main factors possibly could bring about the Maya collapse
contemporarily: drought, warfare between city states, and overpopulation. Foremost, drought plays
a dominant role in leading to the fall of Mayan civilization. Drought has always been connected
with a part of extinction because the living environment is one of the most crucial points for
survival. Drought is caused by prolonged shortages of water supply and there is no species can live
without water, so all the living factors are depending on the living environment. Mayan civilization

and not given the happily ever after that the godly women did. Jane, in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
, places her loveof Rochester above her love and devotion to God, which drags her down a spiral
of despair. According to Katherine Bubel s Transcending the Triangle of Desire: Eros and the
Fulfillment of Love in Middlemarch and Jane Eyre, this idolation of Rochester is why Jane s life
takes the plunges it does, as her transcendancy to a higher state of living is threatened by her
devotion to the metaphysical. The imprisonment of triangular desire , as Bubel claims, is trapping
Jane, Rochester, and St. John, and in order to have a healthy relationship with Jane they all, Jane
included, must ren[ounce] deviated transcendancy (Bubel 296). While Bubel is correct in that the
relationships between both Jane and Rochester and Jane and St. John are strained due to their
obsessions with possessing her as their own, I do not concur with the conclusion that this is due to
a lack of morality; rather that the selfish motivations of both Rochester and St. John are deleterious
to Jane s psyche and prey upon

Romanticism In Eugene Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People
Eugene Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People is an oil painting that stands at 8′ 6″ x 10′
8″, commemorating the July Revolution of France in 1830. The painting, when first displayed
at the 1831 Salon, an annual exhibition of French Art, was met with strong reactions of
disapproval due to his Romanticism influences and was later banned from public viewing. The
19th century experienced a transition from the Enlightenment Period of logic and reason, to the
Romanticism artistic movement, of which Eugene Delacroix was a leading figure. Romanticism,
as explained by Kathryn Calley Galitz, emphasized subjectivity, imagination, and emotion, much
of which is evident in Liberty Leading the People. Delacroix, instead of painting an actual scene
of warfare, chose to balance out the chaotic nature of battle by incorporating both realism and
idealism into his painting. Zelazko explains that Delacroix did not participate in the uprising
because of his dependence on royal commissions, but instead chose to take part by creating a
work of art that overwhelmingly encompasses all aspects of that historic day. Posthumously, the
painting was moved to the Louvre in Paris, France where the response was more favorable, and
today critics regard his work as a masterpiece with a unique take on this historical event. In Liberty
Leading the People, the unification of civilian fighters that form the rising French Republic march
through the ruins of the fallen empire of King Charles X. The Encyclopedia

Is Okonkwo Sympathetic
Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are
many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and
all of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is
afraid of him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwohates his familybut he doesn t,
he really loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters
that can prove this.
One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the
characters that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said,
Okonkwo s first son, Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great
anxiety for his incipient laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to
correct him by constant nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced
youth. Nwoye proves that his father (Okonkwo) is a sympathetic character because Okonkwo wants

Ezinma proves Okonkwo to be sympathetic because of his actions towards her, of what he does
and doesn t do to her. Ekwefi and her only daughter, Ezinma, sat near the fireplace waiting for the
water in the pot to boil. Ekwefi, she said, Is it true that when people are grown up, fire does not
burn them? Ezinma unlike most children, called her mother by her name. This shows that
Okonkwo was sympathetic towards towards Ezinma because Ezinma was very close to her
family, especially her mother. She even called her mother by her name instead of calling her
mother which just proves how close she was to her family. Okonkwo sometimes had thought and
wished Ezinma was a boy because since she is a perfect daughter he thinks if she is a boy than she

The Bottlenose Dolphin Essay
Have you ever wondered how the Tursiops Truncatus dolphin got its name? It got its name because
it s nose, which is short and stubby. The Tursiops Truncatus coloring is different from other
dolphins. Their physical appearance is intriguing and distinctive. They have fascinating family life
and eating habits. You can even see bottlenose dolphins in many places in the U.S.A. Their main
home is the Pacific Ocean, but they also live in many other places. The coloring of the bottlenose
dolphinis unique. It is light gray on top and pale pink on bottom. This coloring helps disguise itself
from its predators. The light gray coloring helps it be camouflaged with shadows in the water. The
underside coloring, a pale pink, helps the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydrodynamic motion is impressive water movement or quickly moving water. The bottlenose
dolphin s head allows for twenty to twenty four sharp, conical teeth on each side of the upper
jaw, and eighteen to twenty four teeth on each side of the lower jaw. That gives the bottlenose
dolphin seventy six to ninety eight teeth in all! Conical means cone shaped. These teeth might
compare to the human incisors. The teeth are used mainly for catching food and holding the
food so it won t get away. The eating habits of the dolphin can vary by habitat, location and the
food accessibility and availability. Bottlenose dolphins may eat many various aquatic organisms.
Usually bottlenose dolphins eat fish and crustaceans. They also may eat octopus, mackerel, cod,
herring, mullet, squid and eels, along with shrimp. The adult dolphins take in about four to five
percent of their body weight in food each day! The average bottlenose dolphin will consume
seven to ten pounds of food a day. Of course, the male will eat more than the female. A nursing
mother will eat more than the standard dolphins; she takes in about eight percent of her body
weight. When hunting for food dolphins may corner the prey in shallow water. The bottlenose
dolphin will usually swallow the prey s head first. For larger fish, such as the impressive
hammerhead shark, several bottlenose dolphins will kick it out of the water with their flukes. This
injures and stuns the large fish and the

Theme Of Freedom In Fahrenheit 451
Have you ever wished that something wasn t true that in in fact very true? Take basic math for
example. If I was asked, what is 2+2 and I answered 5 , I wouldn t be correct and I would have
gotten the problem wrong. But imagine being in a world where 2+2 could be whatever you
wanted it to be. A world in which no one could tell you that you were wrong. One in which no one
would be able to hurt your feelings because no one was allowed to. We come to this world in the
book named Fahrenheit 451. In this book, readers are summered into a world in which the author,
Ray Bradbury, describes what the society is and how it was made through the life of Guy Montag.
Our main character sets out to discover many things about his society including what it truly
means to be free and how he and his neighbors really aren t really free. Yet they are safe from
harm. Is this balance worth it? In order for one to understand the suppression of freedom in this
culture of F451, readers must first have a good understanding in what freedom really is.
What is freedom? Well, according to the Oxford Dictionary it is having the power or right to act,
speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Keeping this definition in mind, it is
very disheartening for one to see the suppressed freedom is in F451. Yes, the people do enjoy the
ability to eat, wear, and do what they want, but there is more to life than just doing these things.
Take the United States of America for example.

Interviewing Is The American Common Man
Interviewing is the method of qualitative research that normally comes first to people s mind. It is
much more than merely asking premeditated question after question. Interviewing is an art that
requires the ability to quickly create a relationship between two people in order to gain knowledge.
There are many techniques when it comes to conducting valuable interviews. Not every technique
works for every interviewer and there is more than one right way to interview. For instance, while
both Robert Lane, author of Political Ideology: Why the American Common Man Believes What
He Does, and Judith Kestenberg author of Children During the Nazi Reign, used interviewing to
gain knowledge for the writing of their books, these two authors prove... Show more content on

Kestenberg s participants were offered nothing, but most described a feeling of emotional healing
from letting their deeply hidden feelings and experiences out which is an unseen reward in of itself.
Deciding a sample size is a vital aspect of researching. Lane gathered all of his information from
only 15 people. This is a narrow sample in comparison to Kestenberg who along with her
colleagues, collectively interviewed over people who had some relation with the Holocaust.
While Lane s interviews served as the main material for his book meaning he relied on
information from only 15 people. He interpreted the responses from the interviews to find the
roots of the political belief from his subjects. Kestenberg took her interviews and then analyzed
them psychologically, and her broad sample gave her much more information to work with. Of
the 15 people that Lane interviewed, all of them were white, male, and married fathers. Eleven
out of the fifteen were Catholic and 11 were either Italian or Irish (Western Political Quarterly).
This sample is obviously not very diverse in comparison to Kestenberg who interviewed people
of both genders from over sixteen countries. Some of her participants were actual child survivors,
others were children of child survivors and even more were former Nazi members during the
Holocaust. This wide array of participants adds different perspectives to her research, while Lane s

Usage of Marketing Communication and Digital Marketing
To market Kia, I shall recommend doing internal marketing, face to face, digital marketing and

The Marketing Model Canvas As An Analytical Framework
Critique
Our group has used the Business Model Canvas as an analytical framework to evaluate The Fun
Center and generate recommendations to further improve the delivery of its value proposition.
The Fun Center aims to provide children with an exciting and safe place to have fun by
providing an array of arcade games, food and beverages, and event hosting. We made no changes
to the general premise of the Business Plan, but rather we fine tuned the aspects we felt lacked
clarity. The gaps that we originally identified in the first version of the Business Plan were minor
and posed little threat to the company s overall success. However, we felt that The Fun Center s
lack of distinctiveness would limit the company in terms of potential growth. ... Show more content

Recommendation 1: Market to Children and Parents
Our analysis of the Business Model Canvas has revealed a minor hole in the channels section. We
feel as though the company s business plan failed to account for a very significant customer
segment: kids. Currently, marketing is directed towards arcade enthusiasts and middle to upper
class adults. The hope is that parents will be intrigued by the company s value and bring their
children to the arcade. However, considering that the value proposition seeks to serve children
ages 5 12 as a target customer segment, the Business Model Canvas would suggest that a channel
should exist to directly connect The Fun Center s value to children. In addition to advertising to
adults with traditional methods, we recommend that The Fun Center also market directly to
children in order to improve reputation and garner more interest. For example, advertising The
Fun Center on children s shows and radio stations will communicate to children in ways that are
already familiar and comfortable to them. According to small business advice from Hearst
newspapers, it would cost 200 to 1,500 dollar to commercially advertise The Fun Center on a local
station, a small investment for a large long term benefit (Wagner, 2015). In in the same way they
react to new toys and cereal, they will ask their parents to bring them to The Fun Center. Further, to

Reasons For Mass Shootings
It was a quiet morning of December 14, 2012 in Newtown, CT, USA during the usual winter
weather in New England state, with people preparing for the Christmas holidays. What happened
next has triggered consequences of starting the major debate on gun control with the creation of a
presidential task force charged with recommending solutions to the problem of gun violence, and
more specific, public mass shootings. That is when 20 year old tall and lanky man named Adam
Lanza made his way to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and cold bloodedly murdered 20
children between six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. Minutes before, he
shot dead his own mother at their Newtown home... It was not neither first nor last of wanton mass
killings of strangers/innocent bystanders (children) with deliberate attempt to deprive them of their
lives without any tangible gain or explainable reasoning, motives happening in the US.
This paper will look into, the constituting factors to the mass shootings in the US. It will examine

Cultural Context
Cultural Context Part B
To study the cultural context of Sive and Children of Men means to examine the world of each
and the values and attitude of the people in these worlds. The worlds created in Sive and Children
of Men are very distinct but also have many parallels. Both texts explore the concepts of family,
love, fear and control.
The setting of each text was paramount in informing me about the attitudes and values of that
time. Each text depicts an oppressive and controlled society. Children of Men is set in the year
2027, in the future, which contrasts to Sive which is set in the 1950 s, in the past. Children of
Men is set in urban London in the future. On the contrary Sive is set in 1950 s Ireland in a very ...

Similarly in Sive , Sive is a young girl growing up in 1950 s Ireland. There is nothing special
about Sive. Both protagonists receive motivation to stand up for what they believe in. In
children of Men , Theo needs to be bribed at first before he gets motivated. However after he is
bribed Theo learns something which gives him hope and drives him on. Kee the lady he is
protecting is pregnant with the first baby in 18 years, your baby is the miracle the world has
been waiting for . This displays Theo s newfound hope; it is this hope that gives him purpose.
Similarly Sive also receives a reason to hope which also gives her purpose. Liam Scuab and Sive
fall in love. After being matched with Sean Dota it is her love for Liam Scuab that drives her to
rebel against the match. Sive, I love you are the words that give Sive purpose to rebel against
society. Both Alfonso Cuaron and John B. Keane have created situations for the protagonists where
they are forced to rebel in order to get what they believe in.
Both texts explore the ideas of love and marriage. In Children of Men Theo was married to
Julian and they had a son called Dylan. However baby Dylan died and their grief drove them apart
and destroyed their family. In contrast to this, in Sive Sive and Liam are only beginning their
relationship and face many problems together. In Children of Men Julian and Theo were allowed to

Comparing Nature To Transcendentalism
British Romanticism has many similar ideas to Transcendentalism in many ways. Both literary
movements talk and express nature in some ways similar or different that will be talked about
throughout this essay. The excerpt, Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Tintern Abbey by
William Wordsworth both express a sense of passion, love, excitement, tranquility, and happiness
of nature in many ways throughout these literary works. According to, Ralph Waldo Emerson s
Nature excerpt he talks about nature as leaving society and going out to learn and explore in
nature. The excerpt from Nature also shows ideals of how nature is heavenly and tranquil.
Emerson says that he s seen in the streets of cities (line 5), and explains how great they are, but still
he says nothing compares to nature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth talks about how nature is an escape, a teacher, a healer, a reminder, and so much
more. Wordsworth explains his first time at the River Wye and that it was the most beautiful thing
he s ever seen and that the nature there is perfect. He also talks about his second trip in this poem
to explain that the second time he went, he felt the nature there was more beautiful and tranquil. In
Tintern Abbey , Wordsworth brings his sister, Dorothy his second time at the River Wye.
Wordsworth says that he hopes the trip will be a reminder of how amazing nature truly is.
Wordsworth talks about nature as a metaphor, saying nature is an anchor that holds him in place.
Nature makes him calm, secure, and happy because he is in his favorite place. Wordsworth
explains that nature makes him feel more alive than ever, and being back in the same beautiful spot
five years later, makes it even better. The theme of Tintern Abbey shows that nature is many things
like an escape for Wordsworth, which explains how much that nature has done for

things such as religious toleration, political representation, and large grants of land. With workers

The Scum Also Rises Analysis
In my view, the most significant time period in the development of literary journalism is the 1960 s
through early 1980 s; also known as the period of New Journalism. The innovative journalistic style
is a combination of fact and fiction writing. The literary journalists of this time period wrote about
real life situations using vivid descriptions and literary devices such as, characterization, scene
setting, and dialogue. They wrote longer and more complex pieces similar to novels, consisting of
more than one larger truth. The journalists pursued sources in the same manner as a conventional
journalist; however, they would spend months, or even years gathering the facts. The narrative form
plus the truth made the writing strong, allowing the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Flat Roof Inspection
If you own or manage a commercial building with a flat roof, your roof is one responsibility that
you cannot afford to neglect. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than the peaked roofs commonly
found on homes. Although there are some signs of a leaking roof that would be hard to miss,
there are a number of warning signs that are far less obvious. Here are some tips on how you can
ensure that your roof has the ability to protect what lies beneath it.
Have Regular Roof Inspections
The best protection is to hire a trained roofing professional to inspect your roof. You or your
contractor should inspect your roof every six months as well as after an unusually heavy rain has
fallen.
Look for Signs of Damage
When inspecting your roof, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Look for standing water, which can indicate a drainage problem that increases your risk of a leak
developing. Check for nails protruding through the membrane; they can rust and allow water to
penetrate. Press on seams to see if water is forced out from underneath the membrane, indicating a
failed seam.
When to Call a Reputable Roofing Company
There are times when professional assistance is needed to repair or maintain your flat roof. A
professional roof inspection can help you avoid additional damage and catch small problems before
they become major issues. It is also a good idea to call a professional if your flashing is damaged or
missing. If you have a drainage problem, an experienced roofer can offer solutions. You should
also ask a reputable roofing contractor to advise whether it is better to replace an aging roof or
repair torn membranes and failed seams.

In Central Texas, the best roofing company to call is Alpha Roofing Industries. We have a great
deal of experience with flat roofs, flashing and gutters for commercial buildings. We also install

  • 2. Political Campaign Contributions Is Not A New Practice Bribing government officials running for office by way of political campaign contributions is not a new practice. A business donates a significant amount of money to a politician who then gives them a government contract they want in return whether it be monetary gain by way of the taxpayer or allowing them to break laws for the sake of their business. These practices come out of the pockets of taxpayers and many politicians serve jail time for them. There are several regulations put in place by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Boardand by individual states. Recent studies in the past year, one done by Harvard University, have both suggested and concluded that the United States of America is no longer a democracy, but an oligarchy. An oligarchy is a form of government in which the richest people have the most power. It dates back to the time of the first colonies. Part of the United States being reclassified as an oligarchy may be due to the amount of government bribes the nation has going on at the present time. In the last presidential election in 2012, there was talk about large corporations giving the political candidates campaign contributions in order to buy them and it is a commonly discussed topic as of this day. Bribes given to the government are common in underdeveloped countries where the government is corrupt as this is an example of a corrupt practice. All levels of government from federal down to local have been caught in some sort of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Homeless Youth Case Study Many of the health issues faced by homeless youth are similar to those faced by anyone experiencing homelessness. However, as adolescents, homeless youth are still developing psychologically, cognitively and physically and may make choices that are not in the best interest of their health. Before becoming homeless, these youth may have endured a chaotic and often violent home life and they may be distrustful of authority and adults. For these reasons, homeless youth can benefit from services that are specific to their needs rather than incorporated into services for the adult homeless population. In addition, homeless, unaccompanied youth face several barriers to obtaining an education. They are often prevented from enrolling in school because of liability concerns, legal guardianship requirements and curfew laws. In 1987, the Stewart B. McKinney Act established the Education of Homeless Children and Youth Program. Unfortunately, the program has not yet received the full funding authorized in 1987. Only 3 percent of local education agencies receive funding. The link between a lack of education, unemployment and poverty is obvious. In addition to needing to complete high school successfully, homeless youth need job training skills to be successful in the job market. In some communities, the lack of appropriate employment opportunities is seen as contributing to the incidence of street crime by at risk and homeless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contrary to Coca Cola executives beliefs, the Pepsi Challenge didn t necessarily prove that people preferred Pepsi to Coke; it just suggested that, when blindfolded, people preferred a small amount of Pepsi to the same amount of Coke. Louis Cheskin s success as an advertiser is notable because it proves that people don t always know what they want; they have to be told. In the case of margarine, for instance, people weren t consciously aware that they would respond to margarine wrapped in attractive gold foil it wasn t until Cheskin released margarine of this kind that people discovered their attraction to such a product. It s also important to notice that Cheskin didn t change the taste of margarine; rather, he only altered the product s presentation. Good packaging can be very important because it catches customers eyes and convinces them that the product itself is good, too. Cheskin s research into marketing and packaging has been very influential, inspiring hundreds of companies to revamp their products. • 5. Global Financial Crisis By The Wall Street Crisis The purpose of this report is to study Global Financial Crisis 2008.This study is inspired by the Wall street crisis and it covers why s and after effects of the crisis. After this crisis many of the roots causes were observed like speculation, fragility of the system, greed of the managers which adversely affected the market. The global financial crisisof 2008 is a major ongoing financial crisis, the worst of its kind since the Great Depression (The Great Depression originated in the United States occurred on October 29, 1929, known as Black Tuesday.). It became prominently visible in September, 2008 with the failure of several large United States based financial firms. The underlying causes leading to the crisis had been reported in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As demand for the CDOs started growing across the global investment community, the investment bankers (like Lehman) who were meant to sell these instruments also started investing a significant portion of their own capital in these. As Wall Street firms like Lehman were churning more and more home loans into CDOs and selling them or investing their own money, there was a pressure on the banks to issue more loans so that they can be sold to the Wall Street firms in return for a commission. Slowly banks started lowering the credit quality for availing a home loan and aggressively used agents to source new loans. This slippery slope went to such an extent that in 2005, almost anyone in the U.S could buy a home worth $100,000 (45 lakhs INR) or more without income proof, without other assets, without credit history, sometimes even without a proper job. The U.S. housing market went into a classic speculative bubble. Home loans were easy to get, so more and more people were buying houses. The increased demand for houses caused the price to increase. The rising prices created even more demand, as people started to look at homes as investments investments that never went down in value. In late 2006, Mortgage lenders noticed that people would choose a house, sign all the mortgage papers, and then default on their very first payment. • 6. Essay on Hiroshima by John Hersey Hiroshima by John Hersey The non fiction book Hiroshima by John Hersey is an engaging text with a powerful message in it. The book is a biographical text about lives of six people Miss Sasaki, Dr. Fujii, Mrs. Nakamura, Father Kleinsorge, Dr. Sasaki and Rev. Tanimoto in Hiroshima, Japan and how their lives completely changed at 8:15 on the 6th of August 1945 by the dropping of the first atomic bomb. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book Hiroshima the author not only exposes the physical impacts right after the bomb but also weeks and years after the nuclear attack. The effect of radiation caused by the atomic bomb on people for most lasted for the rest of there live and often was the cause of the death and for those who had children affected some of there children. One of the six people interviewed, Father Kleinsorge who had only suffered minor cuts when the bomb had been dropped, a month later they still hadn t healed and was suffering from high fever and abdominal pain and low white cell count. But his character couldn t receive the one thing which would have probably helped, a blood transfusion because with atomic bomb patients they weren t sure that if you stick needles in them they ll stop bleeding. By telling the reader about Father Kleinsorge Hersey shows the reader that the nuclear attack caused many people to suffer from radiation sick months after the actual bombing and the irony is that one of thing that could save them could also kill them. The author also tells us that by 1950 the incidence of leukemia in hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bomb) was between ten and fifteen time above the normal, this was five years after the bomb had hit Hiroshima. Hersey does this to show the reader that even for those that are lucky enough to escape death and the terrible burns from the bomb they still are affected physically by the effect of ... • 7. Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by... Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one is forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though, Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost quality that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme though which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought provoking perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of senses or the mind. In his poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is now part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just like a river...moving (Stevens 48). A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up to the top a couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the individuals the speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the fifth part on the other hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the bird becomes an objectified beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches, the readers once again return to the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular pattern can now be seen with the seasons. Another hint of a continuous process occurring the process of perception. In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet of the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? Introduction Innovations in computer processing, data storage, analytics software coupled with reduced costs have contributed to the emergence of big data as a mainstay in the world of Information Technology. It is no secret that businesses have been looking for ways to parse and effectively convert the vast amounts the data they ve been able to collect since technology has allowed them to do so. However, until recently, that has proven either too expensive or arduous of a process. Peter Sloot, in a call for papers referring to this very topic addresses what is known as the Big Data problem, Such Data Explosions has led to one of the most challenging research issues of the current Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era: how to effectively and optimally manage such large amount of data and identify new ways to analyze large amounts of data for unlocking information. The issue is also known as the Big Data problem, which is defined as the practice of collecting complex data sets so large that it becomes difficult to analyze and interpret manually or using on hand data management applications. From the perspective of real world applications, the Big Data problem has also become a common phenomenon in domain of science, medicine, engineering, and commerce With emerging analytic capabilities, however, businesses are able to use the data to better predict, communicate, ... In Amira Baraka s work Dutchman symbolism has a major effect on the overall message as a whole. Although, we see many forms of symbolism there are two that really jump out to me. • 21. What Is The Theme Of Society In Fahrenheit 451 As society progresses, technology and customs often progress proportionally. Social customs, and the way a group of people function as a whole are often altered by significant events or a change in societal variables. Occasionally, this leads to situations in which certain facets of society begin to drastically differ from their original form. Take for example, the abolition of slavery in the United States in 1865. Slavery had been a vastly unchallenged component of American society until that point (excluding the period of abolition efforts). When this changed, the government had to implement a number of laws that reversed prior legislation concerning slavery. In many ways, Ray Bradburys fictional society in his dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451mirrors this by presenting a repressive community in which many factors contribute to mass apathy and a passive state of perpetual passive occupation. Social contact is central to human happiness, but as our technology increases in its proficiency, there tends to be a disconnect in interpersonal contact. This feature of society is predicted 64 years ahead of time, and is highlighted frequently throughout the book, manifested in Mildred s ear seashells and talking walls for entertainment. Further focus is place on the leaders of these movements, Nicholas of Pelhrimov and Alexander Campbell. A connection between these two men is scarcely made; moreover, many students of religion are ignorant to the existence of the Taborite Restoration and Nicholas of Pelhrimov. Without [Shotoku s] inspiring patronage Buddhist art could hardly have flourished so successfully among his countrymen. Not only does the U.S. produce wine to be sold in the U.S. but last year they exported around 403 million liters of wine, the majority was exported to Canada and the United Kingdom. The price of grapes depends based on how the grapes were treated prior to being sold. This has an effect on how much it cost to produce the wine, but it also affects how much the wine will cost to the consumer. There is a price different between fresh grapes and grapes that have been processed. In 2009 the average price for one ton of grapes was around $505. When examining the cost of producing wine there are many factors in which you have to look at. Factors many include but are not limited to, the grapes, the process of fermentation, the storage, the labor and time, the bottling/packaging, and of course the shipping of the products to the customers. The total cost of wine in California in 2009 was around 1.7 billion dollars, which included the production of 3.4 million tons of wine grapes. The pricing for the products themselves are harder to approximate. • 34. Gaius Julius Caesar Analysis The Things Which are Caesar s Gaius Julius Caesar was a military commander, a Roman consul, and Dictator of Ancient Rome. His military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in Rome. Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesarsketches a picture of his influence on his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same period. Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s influence emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman Senators and inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens. In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander. Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts that the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman Senate is using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were advocated; and the more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar s enemies (pg.36 40). He however was viewed different amongst social groups in America. The middle class viewed themselves as respectables and the wage earning class was inferior to them, which is evident in the celebration ceremonies in Paterson on the Fourth of July. Celebrations started off with a parade, banquet, and fireworks where all Patersonians were welcome to participate, but gradually transitioned to a more exclusive celebration of a large group of respectable Young Men where toasts weren t based on patriotism anymore yet based on entrepreneurial progress (Johnson, 65). Sam Patch s celebrity and life not only showed growing social and political differences, but it showed the increasing gap that was growing between the wage earning and middle class as a result of the market revolution. Head Hair In Ancient Egypt In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a shaven head with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were worn by older people to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe. Three Main Factors Leading To The Fall Of Mayan Civilizations Mayan civilization, as one of the most dominant indigenous societies throughout the history, has never been forgotten either by historians or normal people. With its vigorous development, an era of Golden Age began during the Classic Period. However, once untouchable, Mayan civilization crashed in such a short time as if it had never appeared before. The collapse of Mayan civilization is like a mystery for historians today, so they never give up searching for evidence that caused the dramatic reversal in history. Since there was not a decisive cause led to the fall of Mayan civilization, three main factors possibly could bring about the Maya collapse contemporarily: drought, warfare between city states, and overpopulation. Foremost, drought plays a dominant role in leading to the fall of Mayan civilization. Drought has always been connected with a part of extinction because the living environment is one of the most crucial points for survival. Drought is caused by prolonged shortages of water supply and there is no species can live without water, so all the living factors are depending on the living environment. • 39. Literary Criticism Of Jane Eyre Psychoanalytic Literary Criticism of Jane Eyre: Deviated Transcendancy De Keukelaere, a respected literary criticist, defines deviated transcendancy as idolatry that detracts from the relationship between the subject and God. Especially in the Victorian era, God was mandated to be the main focus of a life lived well. Those who put others before Him were shunned as heathens, and not given the happily ever after that the godly women did. Jane, in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre , places her loveof Rochester above her love and devotion to God, which drags her down a spiral of despair. According to Katherine Bubel s Transcending the Triangle of Desire: Eros and the Fulfillment of Love in Middlemarch and Jane Eyre, this idolation of Rochester is why Jane s life takes the plunges it does, as her transcendancy to a higher state of living is threatened by her devotion to the metaphysical. The imprisonment of triangular desire , as Bubel claims, is trapping Jane, Rochester, and St. John, and in order to have a healthy relationship with Jane they all, Jane included, must ren[ounce] deviated transcendancy (Bubel 296). While Bubel is correct in that the relationships between both Jane and Rochester and Jane and St. John are strained due to their obsessions with possessing her as their own, I do not concur with the conclusion that this is due to a lack of morality; rather that the selfish motivations of both Rochester and St. John are deleterious to Jane s psyche and prey upon ... • 40. Romanticism In Eugene Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People Eugene Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People is an oil painting that stands at 8′ 6″ x 10′ 8″, commemorating the July Revolution of France in 1830. The painting, when first displayed at the 1831 Salon, an annual exhibition of French Art, was met with strong reactions of disapproval due to his Romanticism influences and was later banned from public viewing. The 19th century experienced a transition from the Enlightenment Period of logic and reason, to the Romanticism artistic movement, of which Eugene Delacroix was a leading figure. Romanticism, as explained by Kathryn Calley Galitz, emphasized subjectivity, imagination, and emotion, much of which is evident in Liberty Leading the People. Delacroix, instead of painting an actual scene of warfare, chose to balance out the chaotic nature of battle by incorporating both realism and idealism into his painting. Zelazko explains that Delacroix did not participate in the uprising because of his dependence on royal commissions, but instead chose to take part by creating a work of art that overwhelmingly encompasses all aspects of that historic day. Posthumously, the painting was moved to the Louvre in Paris, France where the response was more favorable, and today critics regard his work as a masterpiece with a unique take on this historical event.
