The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore
describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2 types of definitions for Theatre; the
hardware and the software . The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are shown or
metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatre of operations The
software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that
compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators
watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit
everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below. Roman
theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in
the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban
architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of people working
together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies or troupes that tour cities to
present a play. These companies are self contained production units capable of writing, preparing and
presenting works to a point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of
London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

Marketing Strategies For The Service Services
Marketing Strategies Our focus and marketing message will be the services offered. We will develop
our message, communicate it, and fulfill our commitment to excellence.
Websites and Mobile Applications
Many hotels have created their own website and mobile applications. It is definitely something to
consider if a large portion of our target market uses smart phones and computers. We will therefore
customize our hotel mobile application and website. Guests will easily find all important information,
such as hours for check in, location, the room descriptions, upcoming events and they will be able to
take a virtual tour, make reservations, and view the various activities and amenities available, perfume
stores, attractions and dining menus.
Online Discounts
Many hotels and hotel chains offer special rates for online or smartphone bookings. Online bookings
save the time and effort of a real person at the hotel who must answer the phones and take the
reservation. We tend to attract younger customers who are more tech savvy and who have a long life
filled with future hotel stays to come. We will use online discounts as a means of building long term
relationships with our clients.
Social Media Advertising
The first advertising scheme that will be implemented is to create Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and
Instagram accounts, and a personalized website. More and more, technology is affecting where guests

Silverstein s The Giving Tree
Even though there are some similarities between these two books, The Giving Tree was written with
no known religious intention. It was first published in 1964 by Harper Row and was written and
illustrated by Silverstein (Levy). He was a controversial children s book author due to his long
connection with Playboy and his lack of patience around families. Despite this, Silverstein sold more
than ten million copies of The Giving Tree, as it still remains a classic picture book. It has a prominent
green cover but the words and pictures are printed in black and white and displayed in a minimalistic
manner. There are many interpretations of what the actual relationship of the boy and tree is based on.

The apple leaving the tree s branches shows a foreshowing of the sacrifice the tree will give. The boy
is looking up at the tree, smiling in anticipation for what is about to come down. Apples and trees are
constant symbols in The Bible. There are a few tufts of grass growing around the bottom of the tree
and initials that are carved by the boy. These two things never go away, even when just a stump is left.
The ever budding grass and the permanent letters can be seen as a love that never dies for the boy
even when the tree is stripped of life. Psalm 1:3 states He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams
of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither (Holy Bible: King James
Version). This quote from The Bible shows that Jesus Christ is compared to a tree and will always
flourish and be willing to give fruit if possible. The tree that is the main character in the book and is

Roman Engineering
The Romans are known for their contribution to history through their engineering techniques. They
had different constructions such as bridges, roads, tunnels, and aqueducts. Most of these constructions
still exist today, and this proves how superior their engineering skills were (Smith, 20). Roman
engineers used previous inventions to introduce more innovations. They came up with materials and
methods that reformed aqueducts and bridge constructions. They also improved ancient weapons and
invented new machines. The Roman engineering achievements generated wealth and prosperity which
improved their living standards and also helped Rome to continue dominating Europe and the
Mediterranean for a long time. This paper focuses on how Roman engineering ... Show more content

The Romans constructed large and superb stone bridges in Rome. The first bridges were built using
stone blocks held together with iron clamps. The Romans then started using concrete since it increased
the durability and the strength of the bridges. Concrete was also utilized in the construction of piers.
When Piers could not be constructed from rocks, the Roman engineers used cofferdams which were
impermanent enclosures made from wooden piles covered with clay. The cofferdams were directed
into the riverbeds and packed with concrete to make piers. Roman constructors were also the first to
discover the advantages of an arch. They constructed bridges with arches that were longer on one end
than the other to distribute the weight of the bridge equally. The arched structures strengthened and
increased the durability of bridges. An example of the earlier bridges is the ALc antra Bridge that still
exists today (Stambaugh, 80). There are also many Roman bridges that are in Europe today serving as
historical and tourist attraction sites. Modern engineers also borrow from the Roman techniques when
they are constructing

Personal Crime Analysis
Personal Crime Analysis
Personal crimes are crimes committed against a person, which affects the victim in a personal way.
Personal crimes consist of homicide, assault, battery, mayhem, rape, and statutory rape. This paper
will identify, define, and differentiate these types of personal crimes.
Homicide is the killing of one human being by another human being (Schmalleger Dolatowski, 2010).
There are three different types of homicide, which are justifiable, excusable, and criminal. Common
law puts criminal homicide into two groups: murder and manslaughter. The Model Penal Code
categorizes criminal homicide into murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide.
Justifiable homicides are legal killings acceptable by law, and society. ... Show more content on

(1) Murders that is premeditated and committed willfully and deliberately. (2) Murders committed
during perpetration or attempted perpetration of an enumerated felony, such as arson, rape, robbery, or
burglary; and (3) all other types of murder (Schmalleger Dolatowski, 2010)
Manslaughter is the second form of homocide and is defined as the unlawful killing of an individual
without premeditiation and malice. If there was no intent to cause death or bodily harm that is likely to
cause death, but the person that caused the death was negligent then it is considered manslaughter.
There are two types of manslaughter and they are called voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary
manslaughter involves killing in the heat of passion, in self defense, or while commiting a felony.
These are all instances in which the offender had no prior intent to kill. The circumstances caused a
reasonable person to act in manner of being emotionally disturbed. Involuntary manslaughter is the
unintentional killing of an individual during a lawful act. An individual charged with involuntary
manslaughter can still be held criminally liable because of criminal negligence but not to the degree of
murder. An example of involuntary manslaughter would be a lifeguard that failed to attempt to save a
person drowning while he or she was on duty.
Negligent homicide are untentional killins that may constitute involuntary

Racial Stereotypes Essay
As President Abraham Lincoln, one of our country s most idolized figures said,
Achievement has no color . Yet under the power structure of race, the definition of achievement and
success is evermore confined by our racial identity. Therefore, racial stereotypes attacking students of
colors have severe implications on their performance in academic domains. Defined, racism is a false
belief in White supremacy that handicaps society, a system that upholds Whites as superior to all other
groups, and the structural subordination of multiple racial and ethnic groups (Yosso, Critical Race
Counterstories along the Chicana/Chicano
Educational Pipeline 5). However, as a principle racism is ordinary, not aberrational, the usual way
society does business, the common, everyday experience of most people of color in this country,
(Delgado and Stefancic 7) Understanding the concept of racism and its normality in society today is
important when learning about the impacts of stereotypes on race, especially in exploring theories
such as stereotype threat. This principle of racism being normalized is the first of the five tenets
established in a structured outline of a way of thinking called the Critical Race
Theory.
Claude Steele says that he believes stereotype threat is a standard predicament of life .
In saying this he means that by simply being a member of society we know what generalizations are
made about major groups and identities in society. This refers to stereotypes

The Weary Blues Tone
The Weary Blues is a poem by American poet Langston Hughes, written in 1926 which was during the
Jazz age. The poem is a poet telling us about a piano player that is the Negro , he heard some time
ago. This musician is singing about how, even though he s depressed, he s going to put his worries
aside. But then as the poem evolves we gradually see that he loses hope and wishes that he was dead.
The tone which eventually creates the mood of the poem slowly progresses as the poem moves on. It
is a slow, monotonous, interrupted and repetitive tone in the beginning, drowsy syncopated tune on
which the musician is swaying to the soft and calm mellow croon . Moreover, with the personification
of the piano poor piano moan with melody the tone is changed into a more satisfying one yet with
more distress. The piano may also symbolize black and white people and that even though black keys
are less, they make music too and are above the white keys. This gives the musician hope. ... Show

The Relevence of Free Will
Genetics play a huge part in who we are. But we also have free will. Aidan Quinn Basically this quote
is saying how we are raised in the home determines a big factory of how discipline we are however we
still must take into consideration that we are still held accountable for our action regardless. Although
how we were raised in the home play a major role with the choices we make in our entire lives as an
individual. I do believe that morals have a strong factor in free will and determinism. Homes that
teach morals and values in life have a strong factor in with their social behavior skill.
Free Will is relevant within the criminal justice sector because I do believe the vast majority do have
control of what they which is why they should be held accountable for their actions as well. However,
determinism does have a strong relevance within the criminal justice system as well. The reason for
my bias answer is because those who have clinically proven diagnoses of psychological mental
disorder should be taken into consideration when committing crime. When one research the word free
will the word is define as the ability to choose how to act (Free Will, n.d.). Then when researching the
word determinism is defined as a theory or doctrine that acts of the will, occurrences in nature, or
social or psychological phenomena are causally determined by preceding events or natural laws.
Clearly the both are incompatible but they can work with each other in the criminal justice ethics

Brides of Quran and Forced Marriage Essay
Practice of marriage is an institution which has existed for centuries. Mostly marriage is considered as
one of the best form of relationship as kinship between two individuals. Marriage usually occurs when
both parties make their relationship public, official and permanent. The Legal Information Institute in
Cornell University Law School defines marriage as a legal union of a couple on the following
conditions: 1) both parties should be legally able to marry each other 2) mutual consent 3) a lawful
marriage contract (Gangoli et al., 2011: 26) (Marriage). This definition of marriage is ideal for
practice but in reality sometimes this is not the case. Sometimes, the issue of consent is questionable

Marriage with the Quran is one form of marriage practiced in Sindh, a province of Pakistan (Uzma,
2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42,). According to The Friday Times of Pakistan, a large number of
feudals in Sindh have married their daughter or sisters to the Quran(Uzma, 2003) (Akhtar and
Métraux, 2013:43). This marriage is followed by a ceremony where the girl has to take a bath (Uzma,
2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42, 43) and usually her head is covered with white dupatta. After
the marriage she is isolated from any social contact and she must study and recite the Quran everyday
and know it by heart. Additionally, other than reciting Quran, she cannot do anything or live her life
according to her wish (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 43). They also have to hang the text around their
waists with a cord and cannot approach a boy older than 14 years (Uzma, 2003). There are several
justifications given for this practice: 1) when a family cannot find a proper match for their daughter by
the father or brother, and woman remains unmarried forever and 2) this is practice to preserve family
money and property, which might be lost if the girl gets married to another family or when they have
to provide dowry (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). So in this way, the woman is not allowed to marry
a man and will stay forever in their father s home (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). If anyone wants

Reasearch on the Brain Functions of Autistic Children
In the late 1990 s, researchers from the University of California, San Diego wanted to know if there
was connection between mirror neurons and autism.1 They hypothesized that since these neurons play
a role in a person s ability to feel empathy, they found it sensible to think it might be the cause of
autistic symptoms.1 Autism is a disorder found among children where areas of the brain fail to work
thus makes it difficult for individuals to communicate.4
A researcher, Giacomo Rizzolatti at the University of Parma Italy, conducted a study in the 1990 s
studying Macacas. His group studied the motor command neuron from the premotor cortex. The
neuron is part of the frontal lobe that is responsible for voluntary movements. Electrodes were hooked
up to the brain and the macacas had to perform goal oriented actions.1 When a macaca reached for a
peanut, the same exact neuron from another monkey observing them was fired also. This action
surprised Giacomo and his colleagues. They found out the neuron is also found in the same regions as
the human cortex1. Further research of the mirror neurons were shown to be located in different parts
of the brain such as the insular and cingulate cortices. They found out that the neurons at the anterior
cingulate cortex are fired when a person is in pain and the same goes for the person who watches
them1. It was concluded that mirror neurons are seen to be performing similar functions that is found
in autism meaning that if there was a

has introduced audiences to both the beginning and end of this unforgettable tale. It is the story in
which Shakespeare coined the phrase of star cross d lovers and among many of his other
groundbreaking words and phrases, this one has continued with our society today through literature,

whose love is doomed to end in only tragedy, as written in the stars. And as the play moves on from

Still another example is in Act III when Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet s cousin who killed Romeo s best
friend Mercutio. Before entering his duel with Tybalt Romeo says This day s black fate on more days
doth depend;/ This but begins the woe others must end. In this quote, Romeo is saying that this dark
day is the beginning of many to come. After killing Tybalt in revenge, Romeo realizes that he will
have to face consequences for disturbing the peace again, possibly death. Romeo then blames fate for
this instead of his own actions saying O, I am fortune s fool! insisting that fate has made a fool of him.
This pattern of bad decisions made by emotional teenagers who blame the consequences on a larger
force themselves is repeated over and over again throughout the play up until the very end. At this
end, when analyzing the characters decisions in the play and where and when they blame fate, it is
obvious that the stars are not the reason that so many ends up dead in this tragedy. Instead, it is when
Romeo and Juliet decide to throw themselves into life with the mindset that it is not their fault of what
happens, but the fate that controls them and it is too late to change that. It is when Romeo, Juliet, and
the Friar decide to keep a marriage of two lovers from

Prison Overcrowding Research Paper
Does legalizing drugs eliminate the problem of prison overcrowding? If so, how?
I believe that the legalization of drugs would actually come to reduce our issue of prison
overcrowding. I believe this due to the fact that the statistics present in the Federal Bureau of Prisons
demonstrates that 79,190 of inmates in prison as of April 28 of this year, being 46.2% of inmates, are
incarcerated for drug related offenses. That being said, this comes to illustrate that almost half of our
prison population is behind bars due to drug related criminal activity in which legalizing such would
come to signify that not only would this statistic cease to grow, but such could also come to clear up
46% of our prison population if the legalization was to

How Computers Are Essential in Criminal Justice Field
how computers are essential in criminal justice field
Computers take part in a big role in the Criminal Justice Field. So far computers have allowed us to
make it accessible for witnesses to go through and look for a suspect s picture on the screen.
Computers have enabled us to be able to do DNA testing. Which now only takes the labs a short time
to process, and finding criminals from cases 15+ years ago can now be charged for their actions. There
are laptop computers in police vehicles; therefore, police officers can look up information right then

capable than the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space. Simple computers are small

The Importance Of Abstract Alphabet
Picture books can be very influential for younger readers as well as many others. Authors shapes,
colors, and context can create different types of emotions and feelings to be presented. These types of
books appeal to the younger reader because of these types of illustrations can cause the words of the
book come to life. This can be said for the book titled Abstract Alphabet. This book was written and
illustrated by former Caldecott Honor recipient Stephen T. Johnson. It is the perfect picture book for
teaching children the alphabet as well as providing unique and colorful pictures to represent them.
Each picture also provides a unique characteristic that can be appealing for the older reader and the
younger student. Abstract Alphabet is an effective children s picture book because of the color of the
illustrations, the uniqueness of the illustrations, and the text. To begin, the aspect that is of at most
importance in pictures books are clearly the type of illustrations. Effective illustrations set the tone for
the type of book that it will be. To not get misunderstood, the text is essential as well. However when
it comes to young readers, the pictures are what are going to the most impactful. In Abstract Alphabet,
each page provides a colorful visual of the lower and upper case version of each letter. The letters on
each page are also fairly large so it can be easily seen. This is important because this book for children

must take the measurements of the area roped off, and if there is evidence on the ground or anywhere,
that specialist must make a two point measurement, which means, take two unmovable objects of that
area like a door or an outlet and measure how far they are to the evidence. The sketcher must also
draw everything else in the crime scene in order for the computer in the forensics lab to get the most
accurate measurement. If there is a crime in a small town that doesn t have a crime scene unit then a

Nazi Policies
. Working Thesis Statement: Although there is evidence to state that the Catholic Church in Germany
was apathetic to the damages caused the Nazi Policies, during the latter part of the Second World War
the Catholic attitudes towards the Nazis changed from adherence to public disapproval.
This extended research paper will seek to investigate whether the attitudes of Catholics changed
during the Second World War. Through this investigation, I hope to prove that German Catholics were
not apathetic towards the evils associated with Hitler s Nazi policies. The paper will look at two
periods of time focusing on the attitude of German Catholics prior to (1925 1935) and after (1939
1945) Hitler s regime was established. Focusing on these two specific periods of time allows for the
paper to evaluate the baseline attitude of German Catholics during Hitler s ascendency and use it to
compare and contrast the any change in attitudes during World War II. By constructing a baseline, I
can determine from the sources gathered whether or not there was indeed a change in the attitude of
German Catholics towards the Nazi policies.

Student s First Amendment Rights
Student s First Amendment Rights: Kindergarten Student Playing a Game If a student says, I am going
to shoot you during recess to his friends, does the school have a right to take disciplinary actions? Is it
a violation of the student s First Amendment? School officials can restrict speech activities on any
student in a school if it has been established there was harm or threats made against others, including
teachers. Although the First Amendment states freedom of expression, school officials may punish
students for expressing their personal views on school grounds. With the case of S.G. v. Sayreville
Board of Education [1], a school s right to discipline a student was questioned by parental
guardianship. The Case: S.G. v. Sayreville Board of Education (2003) Wilson Elementary School in
Sayreville, New Jersey, began disciplining a number of students for making remarks of threat and acts
of gun violence against teachers and students. Over the course of a week (in early March 2000), three

Roe vs Wade
In 1973, the Supreme Court made a decision in one of the most controversial cases in history, the case
of Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)), in which abortion was legalized and state anti abortion statues
were struck down for being unconstitutional. This essay will provide a brief history and analysis of the
issues of this case for both the woman s rights and the states interest in the matter. Also, this essay will
address the basis for the court ruling in Roe s favor and the effects this decision has had on subsequent
cases involving a woman s right to choose abortion in the United States. The court s decision created
legal precedent for several subsequent abortion restriction cases and has led to the development of
legislation to protect women s health rights. Although the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade
was a historic victory for women s rights, it is still an extremely controversial subject today and
continues to be challenged by various groups. Roe v. Wade Case Law Analysis Before 1973, abortion
access was determined by state legislature for each individual state with no consistency across the
United States. Some states allowed abortions but most state statues heavily restricted or completely
banned abortion. The restricted states would generally only allow abortion in the event of rape, incest,
fetal anomalies, or the woman s life is at risk. The state of Texas enforced a state statute that made it
illegal for an abortion to be performed unless the woman s

Ownership Of Wild And Exotic Animals
Ownership of Wild and Exotic Animals Those who wish to pet and baby wild animals love them. But
those who respect their natures and wish to let them live normal lives, love them more, (Teale). This
quote shows that people who keep wild animals as pets do not realize that the native environment
provides the wild animals with the necessities they cannot receive as a pet. Permits should not be
given to people to own wild and exotic animals as pets because it is inhumane and dangerous.
People who keep exotic animals as pets do not realize the danger they are putting on the animals or

States categorized in B* have a semi ban on exotic animals. This allows their citizens to own some
exotic animals but other animals are forbidden. The type of animals that are forbidden depends on the
different states. The states included under this category are Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana,
Minnesota, Nebraska, Virginia, and West Virginia. ( Summary of State Laws ).
The final two classifications that permits are separated into are the categories of L and N, in which the
states either requires a permit or do not require a permit. In category L, states require exotic pet
owners to receive a license or to at least register with the local authorities to legally own those exotic
animals. Arizona, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Texas are the states that are classified as category L.
The states that do not require an owner to receive a permit or license are specified to be in category N.
However, these states may require similar aspects of a license such as an entry permit or a veterinary
certificate. These states would include Alabama, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and
Wisconsin. ( Summary of State Laws ).
Within these categories of B, B*, L, and N there are smaller subcategories that separate the animals

The Career Of A Nursing Profession
Even though a nursing profession is a time consuming and stressful career, the longing and desire to
be a nurse has always remained in me. There are many different professions in the medical field that I
considered at one point and worked different jobs. The passion I have for nursing has flourished
because of this life changing opportunity that is being given to me. Through the Vocational Nursing
Program, I will be able to receive the education to be able to provide care for my community and
fulfill my calling.
All my life nurses have surrounded me. My mother was diagnosed with Hodgkin Disease while I was
in the womb. She spent most of her early motherhood life in a Galveston, TX hospital. I also, in 2006
was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was given the proper care to battle the cancer and become a
survivor. The flourishing of my desire for nursing was also very clear when I experienced how to care
for another person. My cousin who has different disabilities has been ill since an infant. All her life I
have cared for her when I could and met numerous of nurses who are by her side twenty four seven.
The surrounding of nurses and their environment that I have been exposed to, has assured me that this
desire I have to further my education in this pathway is the right choice. I hope to attain the proper
education to gain closeness to the people in my community through this profession that I have a strong
desire for.

Evolution Of Ballet Research Paper
The Evolution of Ballet
How has ballet evolved since popularized during the Italian Renaissance? Going back to preschool, I
have loved to dance. Ballet was the first style I learned, and it made me fall in love with dance. My
instructor this year often talks about what ballet was like when he danced (in the 1970s,) and also
before then. One day, he explained to my class how girls used to dance on their toes before pointe
shoes were invented. I found it fascinating, so I decided to research more about it after class. As I was
looking up the history of the pointe shoe, I came across some websites that explained the history of
ballet and where it originated. Even after having danced for eleven years, I realized there is so much
that I do not know about it. There is more to ballet than going to class and doing performances. Just as
in any sport or hobby, it helps to know how it first started and how it has evolved. To improve at
anything, one must understand the fundamentals. By doing this research, I can gain ... Show more

Any artist would agree with me in saying that experiencing art is of value to, and almost necessary to

Catherine de Medici was born in Italy during the Italian Renaissance. Her family was a patron of the
arts, which is how she became acquainted with ballet. The ballet at this time was called Ballet de
Cour, or court ballet. During this time only boys danced, but Medici still loved to watch. When she
moved to France to marry King Henry II, she brought her love of dance with her. In 1581 the first
ballet, Ballet Royal de la Reine, was performed in the Medici

Essay on Offshore Drilling
Offshore Drilling
What is it?
Drilling for oil in the ocean is one of the greatest technological breakthroughs in recent decades, and
many new techniques have been developed to profit from the abundance of oil underneath the ocean
floor. While drilling for oil has been around for hundreds of years in one form or the another, the
effective extraction of petroleum from beneath the sea floor did not surface until the last forty years.
The search for oil often turns out to be unproductive, but this practice is vital for the economic future
of many nations.
In order for any drilling to take place, an offshore drilling rig must first be installed. These offshore
platforms can be situated in water up to a several hundred meters in depth. ... Show more content on

These production platforms come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and types, which are dependent on the
dimensions of the field, the depth of the water and how far the oil and/or gas field is from shore.
The platforms are generally made of steel and fixed to the seabed with steel posts. These platforms
harbor all of the processing equipment for the well and can house a maximum of 80 workers. In
addition, platforms have concrete structures large enough to store oil, with gravity keeping them
situated on the seabed
Explanation of Drilling
Drilling begins once the drill bit is lowered to the ocean floor. This first step is referred to as spudding.
There are two types of drill bits: (1) a roller cone or rock bit which usually has three cones armed with
steel or tungsten carbide teeth or buttons; or (2) a diamond bit, imbedded with small industrial
diamonds. The drill bit is attached to drill pipe and rotated by a turntable on the platform floor. As the
hole deepens, extra lengths of drill pipe are attached. (Offshore Drilling)
The diameter of the drill bit varies from a diameter of 36 inches, which is used when the hole in the
ocean floor is first started, to a diameter of 8.5 inches. The total length of a drill pipe is 30 feet. The
time it takes for the drill to reach the oil and gas trap could be weeks.
In order to move the drill cuttings

Implementing A Major Zone Reorganization ( Rosenberg )

Unfortunately, that was half the battle, Christine priority mission and focus was Deregulation . This
meaning is the reduction or elimination of government power in a particular industry, usually enacted

In the insurance industry, the first regulation took place in the 1850 s. By then many insurers had to

A report has been conducted to form literature review on the New York City Subway, an engineering
system, which analyses the systems key elements and interactions as well as the context for its
operations and future challenges it may face.
As the New York City Subway system is an incredibly complex engineering system that involes many
vital subsytems, all of which have an important role in the operation of this system, there is as a result
many issues that can effect and influence this system such as environmental, political, cultural and

The operation process involves constant monitoring of the system in order to allow for a schedule as
well as maintain safety and assure the system is functioning correctly. This all requires many operators
such as traffic controllers, drivers and conductors. Software Engineering is a very important part of the
operation process as it is responsible for developing software to track rail carts, display arrival times
and operate automated train supervision [5].
The final subsystem of this system is the customers or the users. This system includes all the users of
the rail system and as the main purpose this system is to provide customers with transportation this
subsystem like every other relies heavily upon all the other subsystems in order to allow the rail
system to function.

VPNs can be either remote access or site to site. In a corporate setting, remote access VPNs allow
employees to access their company s intranet from home or while traveling away from the office, and
site to site VPNs allow staff member in geographically disparate offices to share one cohesive virtual
network. A VPN also be used to interconnect two similar networks over a dissimilar middle network.
VPN systems may be classified by the protocols used to tunnel the traffic, the tunnel s termination
point location, whether they offer site to site or remote access connectivity, the levels of security
served or the OSI layer they present to the connecting network.
Therefore, in order to prevent exposure of confidential information, VPNs generally allow only
verified remote access and make use of encryption techniques. VPNs provide security by the use of
tunneling protocols and through security procedures such as encryption. The VPN security model give
confidentiality such that even if the network traffic is sniffed at the packet, an attacker would only see
encrypted data, sender authentication to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the VPN and
message integrity to detect any occurence of manipulating with transmitted messages

The Values Based On Interest
The Values Based in Interest Throughout the negotiating process one may get emotional, however
they should take that energy and use it to develop as many great Alternatives as possible. By doing so
they empower themselves as well as create more opportunities for every stakeholders interest to be
satisfactorily served. In Preparation: As we drew closer to the day of our final negotiation, I came to
fully understand and appreciate that the problems we were tasked with addressing were inextricably
snared in the toils of ideology. Over the weeks of rereading the course texts, and revisiting my lecture
notes, I subtly arrived at the conclusion that in a negotiation aimed at resolving conflicts centered on

Moreover, Deikman asserts that sometimes we perceive our emotional reactions as representations of
our true self because they are so powerful as to be felt reverberating through our entire body, and
beyond our ability to control. This suggests these experiences are more at the core of our being, as
well as completely reflecting the personal beliefs that are most important to us (Deikman, 1983, p.93).
Thus, as I worked at reconciling my previous experiences with my expectations for the last values
based negotiation. I did not expect there to be any real opportunities for the two parties to come
together based on shared interest. Not to say that I would not try to promote a discourse predicated on
the value to be reaped by both parties, via an interest centered agenda. But, for this potentially
emotionally charged meeting, I had a few lessons to incorporate, which I had advantageously gleaned
during the semester. For instance, I knew the power of values, which are steeped in emotions, which
posed a challenge to my standard strategically controlled manner of trying to engage the pro interest,
versus positional process. Consequently, assessing outcomes in an objective manner, can become
difficult, and in the worst situations seemingly impossible. This realization also

Animal Symbolism in Native Son by Richard Wright Essay
Animal Symbolism in Native Son by Richard Wright
Two rats and a cat are used as symbols in Richard Wright s Native Son. The rats, one found in an alley
and the other in Bigger s apartment, symbolize Bigger. Mrs. Dalton s white cat represents white
society, which often takes the form of a singular character. Parallels are drawn between these animals
and the characters they represent at key moments during the novel (Kinnamon 118). These parallels
help the reader identify with Bigger and understand why he acts the way he does. The animal imagery
in Native Son explains some of Bigger s behavior and generates sympathy for Bigger and fear of
whites.

Mrs. Dalton s discovery of Bigger is a serious threat to his life, which causes him to frantically search
for safety. He turned and a hysterical terror seized him, as though he were falling from a great
height...It was Mrs. Dalton. He wanted to knock her out of the way and bolt from the room (Wright
97). Like the rat, Bigger is trapped and in danger, with no possibility for escape. In his last, desperate
fight for survival, he suffocates Mary, similar to the rat s wild leap for his pant leg.
The second rat enters the novel to remind readers that the desperate situation of the first rat is the same
situation Bigger faces now. Bigger fears for his life as he is trapped in the city with no escape after
Mary s bones are discovered. His wild movement through the city streets is similar to the first rat
running in a circle, desperately searching for a place to hide. He reeled through the streets, his
bloodshot eyes looking for a place to hide. He paused at a corner and saw a big black rat leaping over
the snow. It shot past him into a doorway where it slid out of sight through a hole. He looked wistfully
at that gaping black hole through which the rat had darted to safety (Wright 288). The second rat runs
across the white snow the way Bigger is running through the white controlled city, both looking for
safety. This rat serves as a reminder of the desperate circumstances that Bigger faces.

This is a terrible hiring strategy and I am not surprised that Yahoo had to later layoff 12 percent of
their workforce. They clearly hired more than what their company could support. It s really sad
because it could have been prevented if each position being posted was more closely evaluated. The
position control process should include input and evaluation from finance and recruitment
departments, and of course contain some form of justification or business case as to why this position
is needed by the requesting manager. Possible Road Blocks Ahead
Implementing a training and development program in a company could be quite a time consuming and
costly task. It takes a great deal of planning and implementation. It might also be challenging in
getting staff to support it and get onboard with the program. This might be countered by involving
current management in the development of the training programs and giving them a say in the training
classes offered since they should have a good idea where their opportunities lay.
With my experience in hiring and position control, I can say that the benefit does outweigh the cons. I
m sure most managers will say it is much easier to hire someone than to fire someone. However, a con
of a position control process is the extra time it takes since it usually involves multiple approvers and
stringent evaluations.

because most of our societies consist of working class individuals and even below the poverty line

Grendel s Presentation Of The Monster In Beowulf
Beowulf is described as the most heroic man of the Anglo Saxons, he was important and needed by his
people, known as courageous and strong. He was their hero, but the movie shows a different side.
Both the story and the poem tell the story of Beowulf sailing all the way from Sweden and is known
as the hero to all Danes when he kills a terrorizing monster named Grendel. Both Genres are based in
Denmark home to Danes.
The biggest differences between the movie and the poem are how the monsters are portrayed and how
Hrothgar is characterized, and also the role of women.
Unlike the novel, the monsters are portrayed differently in the movie. However, in the novel, grendel
represent something more. He was pure evil showing no remorse, angry toward mankind and in the
movie he s more sympathetic, baby like. Grendel s father was Hrothgar in the movie, unlike the story
he was the son of Cain. Secondly, the dragon in the movie is the son of Beowulf which he goes after

The Canada Health Act
All health care in Canada is free for insured services, those provided through hospitals and physicians
(O Neill, 2008). With the enactment of the Canada Health Act, citizens may choose their own family
physician and do not have to pay premiums, deductibles, or co payments. Other services such as
prescription drugs or dental care must be paid for either out of pocket or through private insurances.
Because of this free care, O Neill (2008) argued that the demand for health care becomes unrestrained
causing costs to surge. This inexplicably triggered shortages in all provinces and explicit rationing had
to be implemented in Canada for certain medical treatments and technology (O Neill, 2008). The high
demand and severe shortages caused a large increase in private facilities providing core services.
Private Health Care
While the health care system in Canada covers basic services, including primary care physicians and
hospitals, some of Canada s provinces will provide additional services such as physiotherapy, dental
coverage, and prescription medicines (source). Though, if a citizen is a part of a province that does not
cover additional services or they require services that may not be covered like dental services,

Block s Encounters With Death in The Seventh Seal
A 1957 film, written and directed by Ingmar Bergman, a Swedish writer, producer, and director, The
Seventh Seal concentrates on Antonius Block s journey following his return from the Crusade to
Sweden at a time when the country was plagued by the Black Death. In addition to displaying the
knight on his journey home, the film focuses on the continuous chess match he has against the
personification of Death, who has come to take him away. The use of multiple chess scenes between
Block and Death as a metaphor for Block s attempt to elongate his life to find the meaning in life not
only leads the knight to go on a quest in search of knowledge , but at the same time, allows the
important theme of light against dark to emerge, presenting the constant struggle between hope and
despair as a way to describe Block s struggle and triumph. The film starts in a gloomy mood as wild

Crusades after ten years to his homeland Sweden. To add further darkness to an already hostile
surrounding, Death, whose pale face is covered in black robe, ominously emerges out of nowhere,

household rodents/plants teeter from part of the proletariat to aristocracy, showing that anyone or
anything can easily become part of the aristocracy. Cinderella, who goes into the ball a part of the
aristocracy, and comes out a part of the proletariat shows how easy Perrault makes it to become part of
the aristocracy. Cinderella then again deceives the Prince with her materials possessions showing even
a Prince, a major part of the aristocracy, can mix up beautiful princess and a peasant girl merely based
on their clothing, reassuring that anyone can be associated with the aristocracy as long as they have
material possessions. Also, simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cinderella uses her material possessions to easily become a part of the aristocracy, while also tricking
the Prince into thinking that she is part of the aristocracy. Perrault having Cinderella dynamically
switching from proletariat to aristocracy shows exactly how easy it is to become part of the
aristocracy. Perrault also shows the easy switch from proletariat to aristocracy with the items from
around Cinderella s house, as he changes them from useless items to extravagant items that help
Cinderella become even more accepted into the aristocracy. In the radical Marxist analysis on Charles
Perrault s, The Little Glass Slipper , material possessions help characters and other things bounce from
proletariat to aristocracy, showing how easy it is to become part of the aristocratic part of

Persuasive Essay On Donald Trumps
There are any reasons why hillary clinton should have won. Im am going to state only a few reasons
why donald trump should have lost. Hillary even won the popular vote and still lost the election to a
rapist a sexist and a racist. And the many other horrible things that donald trump is. Donald trump
violates a lot of the constitution not letting people have the same rights. Deporting people who are
citizens just because they look wrong to him. He s a jerk and bully he doesn t care what other people
want just what he wants. When he says he will make america great again no it should be he will make
america bad again . All he ever does is criticize people around him. He doesn t care what they think all
he cares about is himself. He goin got cause a war with someone (most likely iraq).
He s a horrible person and i don t know how he is president. Another reason that donald trump should
have won is the fact the hillary won the popular vote is crazy. That has only happened 5 times in the
entire history of the constitution. Everyone agrees that he is a gigantic asshole. Thousands of people
protest trump being president to this very day because they think he is a threat to this country. Many of
the facts that donald trump states are complete nonsense or utter lunacy is said by many ... Show more

Many people say that they believe in trumps ideas, but they re going to start doubting him when we re
screwed into a nuclear war. Im my opinion hillary should have won because the fact we have the
electoral college is the only reason he won. Also he supports only 2 of the 27 amendments and
disregards all the other ones. He wants to deport people out of the united states just because of their
religion and race or color. donald trump only cares about himself and he want people who don t look
like him out. He a gigantic jerk, bully and asshole in

The stories of Decameron IV, 1 5 and Decameron V, 4 have...
The stories of Decameron IV, 1 5 and Decameron V, 4 have contrasting endings. The disparities of the
endings are due to the relationship between social classes and family acceptance. These significant
factors led to Decameron IV, 1 5 having a tragic ending. These two stories involved lovers being
separated by family members due to social rankings. In Decameron V, 4 the opposite occurred; the
father accepted the relationship because the family of the individual was distinguished in society.
Decameron IV, 1 consisted of the love story of Ghismunda, a young widow that found a lover, named
Guiscardo. Tancredi, the father of Ghismunda, discovers the relationship that his daughter is having
with Guiscardo and knows he must punish them. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She dies of grief when her brother takes away the vase.
In contrast to these two stories ending tragically, Decameron V, 4 the love story of Caterina and
Ricciardo ends on a fortunate note. Caterina s father, Messer Lizio finds Caterina and Ricciardo naked
in bed; contrary to expectations Messer Lizio didn t become outraged as he by this and reacts with
composure. Messer Lizio tells his wife, Ricciardo is a noble and a rich young man; we have only to
gain from such a match. If he wishes to leave this house with my blessing, he will have to marry her
first; thus he shall have put his nightingale into his own cage and not into anybody else s! Caterina s
love affair with Ricciardo resulted in a marriage. This was due to Ricciardo having noble standards in
society and the family acceptance from Caterina s parents.
The parasitic relationship between love and death is common to the first two stories as we see social
ranking and family acceptance resulting in unsuccessful relationships. Society playing a

Concrete was also utilized in the construction of piers. When Piers could not be constructed from rocks, the Roman engineers used cofferdams which were impermanent enclosures made from wooden piles covered with clay. The cofferdams were directed into the riverbeds and packed with concrete to make piers. Roman constructors were also the first to discover the advantages of an arch. They constructed bridges with arches that were longer on one end than the other to distribute the weight of the bridge equally. The arched structures strengthened and increased the durability of bridges. An example of the earlier bridges is the ALc antra Bridge that still exists today (Stambaugh, 80). • 7. Racial Stereotypes Essay As President Abraham Lincoln, one of our country s most idolized figures said, Achievement has no color . Yet under the power structure of race, the definition of achievement and success is evermore confined by our racial identity. Therefore, racial stereotypes attacking students of colors have severe implications on their performance in academic domains. Defined, racism is a false belief in White supremacy that handicaps society, a system that upholds Whites as superior to all other groups, and the structural subordination of multiple racial and ethnic groups (Yosso, Critical Race Counterstories along the Chicana/Chicano Educational Pipeline 5). However, as a principle racism is ordinary, not aberrational, the usual way society does business, the common, everyday experience of most people of color in this country, (Delgado and Stefancic 7) Understanding the concept of racism and its normality in society today is important when learning about the impacts of stereotypes on race, especially in exploring theories such as stereotype threat. This principle of racism being normalized is the first of the five tenets established in a structured outline of a way of thinking called the Critical Race Theory. Claude Steele says that he believes stereotype threat is a standard predicament of life . Although how we were raised in the home play a major role with the choices we make in our entire lives as an individual. I do believe that morals have a strong factor in free will and determinism. Homes that teach morals and values in life have a strong factor in with their social behavior skill. Free Will is relevant within the criminal justice sector because I do believe the vast majority do have control of what they which is why they should be held accountable for their actions as well. However, determinism does have a strong relevance within the criminal justice system as well. The reason for my bias answer is because those who have clinically proven diagnoses of psychological mental disorder should be taken into consideration when committing crime. This marriage is followed by a ceremony where the girl has to take a bath (Uzma, 2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42, 43) and usually her head is covered with white dupatta. After the marriage she is isolated from any social contact and she must study and recite the Quran everyday and know it by heart. Reasearch on the Brain Functions of Autistic Children In the late 1990 s, researchers from the University of California, San Diego wanted to know if there was connection between mirror neurons and autism.1 They hypothesized that since these neurons play a role in a person s ability to feel empathy, they found it sensible to think it might be the cause of autistic symptoms.1 Autism is a disorder found among children where areas of the brain fail to work thus makes it difficult for individuals to communicate.4 A researcher, Giacomo Rizzolatti at the University of Parma Italy, conducted a study in the 1990 s studying Macacas. His group studied the motor command neuron from the premotor cortex. The neuron is part of the frontal lobe that is responsible for voluntary movements. Electrodes were hooked up to the brain and the macacas had to perform goal oriented actions.1 When a macaca reached for a peanut, the same exact neuron from another monkey observing them was fired also. This action surprised Giacomo and his colleagues. They found out the neuron is also found in the same regions as the human cortex1. Further research of the mirror neurons were shown to be located in different parts of the brain such as the insular and cingulate cortices. They found out that the neurons at the anterior cingulate cortex are fired when a person is in pain and the same goes for the person who watches them1. It was concluded that mirror neurons are seen to be performing similar functions that is found in autism meaning that if there was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Evolution Of Ballet Research Paper The Evolution of Ballet How has ballet evolved since popularized during the Italian Renaissance? Going back to preschool, I have loved to dance. Ballet was the first style I learned, and it made me fall in love with dance. My instructor this year often talks about what ballet was like when he danced (in the 1970s,) and also before then. One day, he explained to my class how girls used to dance on their toes before pointe shoes were invented. I found it fascinating, so I decided to research more about it after class. As I was looking up the history of the pointe shoe, I came across some websites that explained the history of ballet and where it originated. Even after having danced for eleven years, I realized there is so much that I do not know about it. There is more to ballet than going to class and doing performances. Drilling for oil in the ocean is one of the greatest technological breakthroughs in recent decades, and many new techniques have been developed to profit from the abundance of oil underneath the ocean floor. While drilling for oil has been around for hundreds of years in one form or the another, the effective extraction of petroleum from beneath the sea floor did not surface until the last forty years. The search for oil often turns out to be unproductive, but this practice is vital for the economic future of many nations. In addition, platforms have concrete structures large enough to store oil, with gravity keeping them situated on the seabed Explanation of Drilling Drilling begins once the drill bit is lowered to the ocean floor.
