My Career Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "My Career" might seem like a straightforward task, but delving
into the intricacies of one's professional journey can be surprisingly challenging. The difficulty
arises from the need to strike a balance between personal reflection and professional aspirations
while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative.
Firstly, exploring one's career path necessitates introspection and self-analysis. This involves
delving into personal experiences, decisions, and milestones that have shaped one's professional
trajectory. It can be emotionally charged, requiring the writer to navigate through their successes,
failures, and the lessons learned along the way.
Crafting an engaging and compelling essay demands not only self-awareness but also effective
storytelling skills. Connecting the dots between different phases of your career in a seamless and
interesting manner is essential. The challenge lies in avoiding a mundane, chronological account
and instead, infusing the narrative with a sense of purpose, passion, and growth.
Moreover, articulating future career goals can be daunting. Forecasting where one sees
themselves professionally requires thoughtful consideration and a realistic approach. Balancing
ambition with a practical understanding of the industry and personal capabilities adds another
layer of complexity to the writing process.
In addition to content, the writer must also pay attention to the essay's structure, coherence, and
overall flow. Ensuring that each paragraph contributes to the overarching theme while
maintaining clarity is crucial. This task can be time-consuming and demanding, requiring
multiple drafts and revisions to achieve the desired result.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the topic of "My Career" involves navigating the
intricate web of personal and professional experiences, weaving them into a captivating
narrative, and articulating future aspirations with clarity and realism. It's a task that requires not
only self-reflection but also effective storytelling and organizational skills. For those seeking

The Importance Of Names In Song Of Solomon
People choose names for a reason, whether it is so that the child takes on a certain
personality, based on who they are named after, or so that he or she may carry on
the name of a beloved family member. Many names that are popular today are
names from the Bible, since most of the biblical characters possess characteristics
that parents would want their child to have. Names like Noah, Jacob, David, and
Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are
all biblical names. Names from the Bibleare also found in many works of literature,
like Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, a coming of age story about a young man
during the mid twentieth century. The reader is introduced to multiple characters
with biblical names, which correspond to the characters personalities. In the book
Song of Solomon, the characters take on the role of their biblical names. Reba,
Milkman s mother, can most closely be associated with Rebecca from the Bible, as
their names are nearly identical. In the Bible, Rebecca is known for her loyalty and
devotion to her son Jacob, whom she favors over her other son, Esau. She willingly
ruins her relationship to one of her sons and also her husband, Isaac, both of which
she loves dearly. In Song of Solomon, Reba cherishes her daughter Hagar, and
makes sacrifices to please her, one of which includes the donation of her diamond
ring, which she miraculously wins when she walks into a Sears store. The winning of
the ring shows Reba s
International Student And High Tuition Essay
Studying with those from another background other than our own provides
opportunities for greater discovery, understanding, and cooperation. International
students bring a variety of ideas and new perspectives to the classroom, aiding in the
educational process for all and are an important component to many universities
campus climate. Beyond the important cultural components they bring to campus,
International students are also a source of high tuition revenue for universities.
Students are often charged multiple times the rate of tuition that in state domestic
students pay, such as the Universityof Washington, where international students pay
almost three times as much per year (Lewin, 2012). The retention and graduation
rates of all students are important to universities; however, research on international
studentpersistence has largely been missing in the literature (Andrade 2009; Andrade
and Evans 2009). Interestingly enough, the Institute of International Education (IIE)
and other government agencies do not report data on international studentpersistence
rates (Evans et al, 2009). The majority of universities report their student graduation
and retention rates on their websites, with many universities including their
percentages by ethnic groups; however, very few universities identify the specific
rates for the international student population. According to the IIE, the international
student population in the United States comprises only about 3.5% of the total
Military Forces in Vietnam Fighting for the Survival of...
The term ARVN many times is used to describe all military forces in Vietnam
fighting for the political survival of South Vietnam. It refers to the army within the
Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces (RVNAF), which includes the air force, navy,
marines, rangers, regional and popular forces, and civil defense forces. There are
four conventional field divisions and six light divisions which the ARVN were
structured into in 1956. In 1959 this was reorganized into seven infantry divisions
and three corps headquarters. This reorganization was to essentially better deal with
the communist led insurgency and to make the most of U.S. advisory efforts. From
there, there was an increase in the ARVN force structure which was comprised with
ten infantry... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, the ARVN lived up to these negative views. They lost over 200,000 men
in combat, some of whom must have been committed to counterrevolutionary
alternatives. Ground commanders treated the notion of rotation the ARVN units to
the frontlines as a joke of sorts. For example, an attempt was made to transfer the
ARVN 18th Division in July 1969 to hot delta border regions for invaluable combat
experience. This meant that the ARVN were secondary players in terms of strategy,
tactics, and logistics. In other words, like Huei (2006) states the ARVN simply just
did what they were told (Huei, 2006). Based on the books we were provided about
the Vietnam War, I wanted to focus on the relationship the Americans and NVA had
with the ARVNs. More specifically, I wanted to examine how the ARVNs
relationship with both sides of the war shaped our perception of the Vietnam War. I
was inspired not only for personal reasons but to also see it through the lenses of the
Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) in South Vietnam.
What were the relationships like among the American soldiers and the ARVN
soldiers? What were the ARVN s duties and did they help accomplish anything?
Information about the ARVN soldiers is not clearly mentioned that we are unaware
of what they did during the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, from the guest speakers in
class they did not have much to say about their relationship with the ARVN nor if
they even had a relationship. Instead they proudly

In review of the data collected for this assignment, I have gained greater insight into
the population I serve. Much of the data simply reinforced my assumptions, but
others; like the information on race, has given me a better understanding about the
population I serve and has given me greater insight into the social tension and
conflict that appears to be at the forefront of concerns for many of my students
(Moore, Bagin Gallagher, 2013, p.18). Race is always an issue for many of my
students. After reviewing the census data I noticed that most of the population
identifies themselves as one race, and the racial divide is almost 50/50 between
blacks and whites. There is also a constant reference to skin color among ... Show

St. Louis city is home to several outstanding hospitals and universities. In fact, BJC
healthcare is the largest employer in St. Louis, employing almost 25,000 people
(St. louis regional chamber, 2013). According to the 2007 2011Census, the average
household income for St. Louis city is, however, $33,652. I believe that it is safe
to assume that the majority of the individuals who live in the city do not hold
many the high paying jobs at this institution. If I look at the community through
the eyes of my students, I would probably equate success with being white as well,
simply because the majority of individuals I see in positions of success are
Caucasian. The campus of St. Louis University and Washington University are
flooded with a Caucasian majority. The Doctors and Nurses at BJC may not all be
Caucasian, but they are certainly not African American. Even at my school, the
majority of the teachers are Caucasian. In my district, it appears that the best High
Schools have the fewest number of African American teachers. I am sure that this
model holds true for elementary and middle schools within the district as well. Also,
I know of very few teachers who actually live within the boundaries of the School
District. An analysis of average household income by race, could offer a

Grace Throughout the Bible Essay
I will look at the lives of Moses, Haggai and Ester who with God s grace overcame
huge obstacles in their families, situations, and beliefs to further God s Kingdom in
amazing ways. In Philip Yancey s Book What s so Amazing About Grace? Yancey
says that grace, Contains the essence of the gospel as a drop of water can contain
the image of the sun. (Yancey, 12) This and Gods promise that his grace will never
leave us makes grace an incredible theme throughout the Bible. Grace is an incredible
thing that is defined in a variety of ways. In the book Learning About Grace from
the Woman of the Bible by Debbie Morris; Morris defines grace as the Influence or
Spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them. (Morris, 6) This

In The Butterfly Effect of Grace by Rex G. Russell the idea that grace is one of the
most important words in the Bible is widely discussed. Russell says that grace is the
single most important word to describe God s love for us. When God speaks to
Moses and fills him with his grace God is showing us how much he loves us. Russell
challenges his reader to live a life overflowing with grace. Much like how Moses
lived his life. In such a way that the people around him couldn t help but take notice
that Moses was chosen by God and with his grace was able to do work for his
kingdom.
Ester overcomes her place as a woman and saves the Hebrews. In the book Flawed
Families of the Bible by David Diana Garland we see the connections between
family struggles and the grace that surfaces within. Yet it is in these broken places
that we catch glimpses of God s grace and healing, of God silently reaching in to
touch the wound, and broken people stepping up to do what is right. (Garland, 14)
God s grace works in people and situations that have imperfections. Esther came
from a small village, was orphaned as a child, was raised by her cousin Mordecai and
was Jewish. She had a broken family and the deck was stacked against her but she
had favor with God and was given not only his grace but also the grace of the king.
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained
Ouija Board Essay
Ouija Board An Unexpected Way To Reach The Afterlife
(#1) add picture
Have you seen an Ouija board before? Have you tried working with it?
This board is claimed to be very mystical, mysterious and a tad intimidating. Not
many experienced psychic mediums think of using it in their reading session; even
some may feel nervous with this idea.
Rightfully so, Ouija is not something that you can take lightly. Indeed, it MUST be
used with the responsibility and utmost care.
Nonetheless, if putting the fear aside, the Ouija board is an extremely powerful
divination tool. It is believed to be able to connect you with the afterlife when utilized
correctly.
What is Ouija?

In order to interact with Ouija, you should have a small heart shaped pointer
(planchette) of wood or plastic, firstly.
Place your fingers on the planchette and start asking your questions. The planchette
itself will move or slide to the on board letters. Put those letters into words and
sentences and you ll get what the Ouija board wants to tell you.
Definitely not a toy, this device, according to the most genuine intuitive, is likely to
connect to entities in the spiritual realm.
What to Remember When Using Ouija?
Never bring the negative energy into the session whether you use the spirit board
alone or in a group. Instead, for enlightening insight, everyone is supposed to stay in
the positive state of mind.
Like any spiritual reading method, your energy is very important. The Ouija board
will operate based on the radiated energy of the individual who is using it. If you
interact with Ouija with fearful, scared, angry or possessive attitudes, then everything
you receive in return will be in the same
Compare And Contrast Beast And The Harlot
After elementary school, my mom and dad separated. At the time, I was thirteen
years old and still had a strong notion that my dad would eventually come and join
us in Bel Air, Maryland, where we had moved to during the summer of 2006.
However, towards the end of the summer, I slowly came to terms with the fact that
I would not be living with my father the way I had before. Through interactions
with my new predominantly white middle school friends, I was exposed to a
wider variety of genres such as metal, rock (classic and new age), punk, and pop.
At the time, I believed I just listened to this new genre music because it was new
and what my friends listened to, however, now I realize it was a potential
mechanism for me to separate myself from the familial turmoil I was facing at the
time. In essence, I was shifting my focus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In particular, I remember hearing the song Beast and The Harlot by Avenged

only did it have dynamic rhythms, but the song also had a lot of contrast in the
melodic elements as well, a musical idea that, according to Mike Rugnetta, is
responsible for the emotional we feel in response to music. In addition, I believe I
honed in on this song and the surrounding genre because of the masculinity
associated with the song. Beast and Harlot , in music at least (the video had some
feminine elements, however, the video was not released at the time), had all the
elements of masculinity similar to elements we discussed in class. The dynamic

The Global Automobile Industry in 2009
1To have a thriving and growing economy you have to have a strong manufacturing
base that is outputting quality goods in large quantities. In the case of the United
States much of the economy in the past has been built on housing sales and the
automotive industry. America s modern automotive industry is being hurt by two
things: Unionized labor and cheaper imports from Asia. Why build cars in North
America where unionized automotive wages are $20+/hour when you can build
them in Asia for less than $4/hour and still get the same quality? And in some cases

Cars from Ford, Chrysler and GM weren t as good as their competitors .
New rivals like Kia entered the market.
Import friendly areas added population, and sales grew faster than in domestic

The market for sport utility vehicles collapsed, hammering a profitable market the

African Americans have had a long history in the American motion picture industry.
Early depictions of African American men and women were limited to demeaning
stereotypical images of people of color. During the first decades of the 20th century,
many films depicted idealized vision of life in the South. These films glorified the
image of the Old South .African American characters, in keeping with the dominant
stereotypes, were portrayed as incompetent, child like, hyper sexualized, and criminal.
Even the roles for African Americans such as loyal servants, mammies, and butlers
reinforced a belief that the proper social position for Blacks was that of a servant
who was unswervingly devoted to his/her White masters and to upholding the current
social order.
The growing momentum of the Civil Rights Movement brought more changes in

This figure is important because it seems about to move as it is poised and has a

Mycenaean art from Mycenae, Greece. It is from Grave Circle A, is made of

Just Society For The Common Good
What does it mean to form a more just society for the common good? I will be
examining Dr. Martin Luther King s Letter from a Birmingham Jail, as well as
Gustavo Gutierrez s essay, The Option for the Poor Arises from Love of Christ. Dr.
King examines the facets of social injustice through a letter that he wrote while
imprisoned for a nonviolent public protest. King s letter is in response to a letter
from eight fellow clergymen. In the letter from the clergymen they criticize King s
due process in seeking justiceand his social injustice movement, so King responds
with what I believe to be one of the greatest examples of a man who personifies
what it means to form a more just society for the common good. He does not only
speak on his behalf, but he speaks out all of humanity. Likewise, Gustavo Gutierrez
examines specifically the poor in a similar manner, but believes that these poor
people have found the ultimate meaning in life and we should all seek to have that
same spiritual connection to God, for it would make our society a better place. The
preferential option for the poor is seeking a deeper connection to God by bringing
justice to light. Gutierrez and Dr. King both exemplify men who have truly set an
example on how to form a more just society for the common good of humanity. Dr.
King begins his letter deliberately and without emotion, he addresses their first
criticism of him, which is him being an outsider and that he has no place in
Birmingham. This is where

The better wine you drank, meant the more money you made to purchase the wine,
thus creating your caste in society. What effects does wine have on the
development of Christianity and Islam? The banning of wine in Islamic culture
would be the basic start for the banning of many other foods. The prophet
Muhammad s ban on alcohol is said to have started from a fight between two men
who were under the influence. When Muhammad sought divine help from the one
and only Allah, Allah s reply was to ban alcohol so that such a thing could not
happen again. As for wine, it had a different story for the development of
Christianity. Wine drinking was a tradition of Greeks and Romans. When barbarians

Comparing The Matrix And Plato s Allegory The Cave
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one , Albert Einstein. This quote
from Einstein touches on how reality is not something that one can fully grasp
without questioning the reality that you are in presently and both Plato and the
Matrix address through their work. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, he discusses how
society controls information so that the people know only what they need to know
and nothing more. In the Matrixthey show how society has used the control of
information to create an illusion of a dreamworld as Morpheus calls it, to crete a
false sense of security and happiness. This illusion was supposed to keep the people

Which in society you have the choice to question society and look deeper into
society and find all the information that has been kept from you. This control of

dreamworld that they have created to keep the people happy. Or you can just
accept everything as you believe it to be and continue living in the dreamworld
that was created for you to live in. The next similarity is when Neal is in a womb
like container and he had numerous tubes connected to him, all of these tubes
symbolize our need for and ties to society. As an individual we are tied to society
through the necessities of life such as; clothing, housing, food, and jobs, and
through these same aspects we are contributing to society so it creates a cycle of
dependency. We are dependent because we are unable to create most of these
things by ourselves without the help of society. for example to build a house in
order to get wood or lumber to build it you would need someone to manufacture it
so that you would have boards for siding and roofing, and beams and boards for
walls and supports. This one necessity is just an example of our dependency on
society as an individual. Since we are so dependent on society that corporations
know that they can exploit us without us knowing it. An example of this from the
matrix would be when Morpheus is apologizing to Neal for having to retrain his
mind and he tells him it had to be done, I had no choice. He is talking about how
Neal is seen to be the Chosen one and so Morpheus felt like he had no choice but to
make Neal retrain his mind even though he is technically too old

Pet Work Discussion
There are many pros and cons about bringing the your pet to work discussion. On
one side many people believe benefits of pets in the office would create a less
stressful workplace and give many the chance to work longer hours. Others believe
that the possible allergenic properties, sanitary issues and probable lawsuits will be a
nightmare for companies and owners alike. I would like to bring both arguments to
the table and weigh them both out.
I think we can all agree that many workplaces can be stressful at times and having
your pet there would certainly help ease tensions for the owner. Personally i think
its a great idea for myself but would never expect an employer to allow me to do so.
The possible advantages to that are not likely to outweigh the chances that ... Show

There are certain times we all have the need to rush home to either let our pets out
and feed them but I don t think that my choosing to get a pet should require
employers to pay for my choices. Once I recieved a free complimentary room at a
casino and decided to leave my dog at home while leaving newspapers down for
him. I returned the next day to find that he was so upset with me that he used the
bathroom right in the middle of my bed. Problems like that happen with any pet and
we can t have an office full of them.
That leads me to my next topic on sanitary issues. I m certainly guilty of feeding
my dog table scraps and in return he stares at me like I m a steak while I eat
anything, friends of mine let their pet jump in their laps and feed them like a baby.
That being said can you imagine a workplace full of people with similar habits? I
certainly can and I don t think I want to work there. Can you imagine the possible
sanitary problems that could arise from such things? It doesn t sound like a very
good idea for me to put others at risk from my dog and I would hope others feel the
Mandate Of Heaven Research Paper
The Mandate of Heaven (Tianming), which is the concept of legitimatizing a
dynasty after it has conquered a previous dynasty, is a very interesting subject.
Although I have studied Chinese history and have heard of the Mandate of Heaven
the detail surrounding it origins eluded me. The Zhou dynasty which defeated the
Shang dynasty used the Mandate of Heaven as a way to legitimize their reason for
attacking the village/kingdom. There was some discussion about the last King of
Shang being corrupt, unfair, and unvirtuous. He was a killer of virtuous ministers.
Basically calling the last King of Shang a tyrant, dictator and every horrible thing one
can think of even a cannibal. But this account of the last Shang King was written by
the Zhou leaders and it stands to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tianming was a way of explaining why a dynasty that had been strong and
prosperous is suddenly downtrodden and suffering corruption. Why it was necessary
for the failing dynasty to be overthrown. It is interesting that the Mandate can only be
used after the previous dynasty has been successfully overthrown. Although the Zhou
overthrew the Shang, their dynasties still had many common elements. They both
relied on the spiritual world and their deceased ancestors to dictate how they should
handle their earthly affairs. The was still a tie between the heavenly world and the
earthly realm, so much so that it decided which dynasty had the right to rule.
Difference lie in the fact that there are more written records of the Zhou and a reader
can see that not only the king and nobles follow ancestor worship. In the Shang, the
turtle shells mostly came from the upper families like the King and noble houses. In
the Zhou, the written come from the King to the common people. The Zhou also used
different ways of divination. It is apparent that like the Shang, the Zhou was a bronze,

Christine Mitchell s When Living Is A Fate Worse Than
Death
Imagine having your child taken away from you due to an illness. There was
nothing more to do for them, but you just have to let them go. People start feeling
upset and feel like they could have done more. In the story, When Living Is a Fate
Worse Than Death by Christine Mitchell explains to us how people felt after
Charlotte has died. She made this very persuasive due to her taking the side of the
doctors. Through the story the narrator starts with explain how charlotte died from
few brain cells. This caused her to stop breathing and pull away from pain. The next
thing we know is that the doctors where worried about why the parents chose to put
their child and them through pain of the death. The parents asked them to do cruel
stuff to keep their child alive. The doctors refused to do it. They wanted to have a
rule where if the baby was dying again they would resuscitate her. The hospital was
also worried about the parents suing them due to previous cases. This helped other

She explains how they felt after the death of charlotte. For example, she says, We
tried to resuscitate her for over an hour. It s the worse thin I ve ever done. I
actually felt sick (Paragraph 7). This is how one of the doctors felt after the death of
this baby. Another strength is she explains the problems that charlotte had and how
they tried to resuscitate her. In the beginning of the story Christine Mitchell says,
Little Charlotte lay on a high white bed, surrounded by nurses and doctors pushing
drugs into her veins, tubes into her trachea and needles into her heart, trying as hard
as they could to take over for her failing body and brains. (Paragraph

A View From The Bridge by Arthur Miller
A View From The Bridge is a play written and directed by Arthur Miller A writer

concentrates on a particular community full of Sicilian immigrants. This community
has responsibilities towards one another, they look out for each other, but soon a
character s betrayal casts a shadow on the rest of the community, the same character
that is led by fate towards a destiny that cannot be escaped.

This tells us that Eddie wants to face up to Marco, that he s not afraid of him, even
though we found out that Marco is stronger than Eddie in the past scenes.
Just before Marco comes in, Beatrice plays an interesting role. Miller uses her
character to make the tension, by her trying to get Eddie to calm down and to play
the peacemaker, but the main role she plays in this scene is that what she tries to
get out of Eddie. She comments on how Eddie wants something. Eddie yells that
Marco s got my name , but Beatrice realises that Eddie wants something else. The
tension breaks out when Beatrice yells to Eddie, you can never have her! This is
what Eddie really wanted, Catherine, to be his and not anyone else s, including
Rodolfo, even though she id his niece. The way Eddie is shocked, horrified and has
his fists clenching , shows that he is angry with Beatrice for saying that. At this point,
the audience are shocked and worried to how Eddie will react to this.
As Marco enters calling for Eddie, we can feel the tension mount up, because when
Marco calls out for Eddie, all characters stand transfixed for an instant , as if they
don t know how to react to this. But as the characters realise what is going on, Eddie
emerges from the apartment to get back his name and show the neighbourhood what
a liar Marco is. The audience would start to worry when the two characters (Marco

How the Internet has Affected the US Postal Service
Is the Internet Hurting the US Postal Service, or Helping?
The United States Postal Service has been around since 1775. Over the years the
United States Postal Service has grown and changed with America (USPS). In the
Last 230 years the Postal service has evolved greatly. Mail has been delivered from
foot to horseback, then to stagecoach. From stagecoach to railroad, and from railroad
to Air. Now due to the advances in the internet, mail is being delivered by e mail
(Kamarck, Para 1). Many believe that the internet may very well be the down fall of
the United States Postal Service. Since 1970 the Unites States Postal Service has
been self sufficient. The Post Office generates its revenue from selling stamps and
other postage, and the many other services that it offers (Nocera, Para 5). The only
thing is that the Post Office is loosing money instead of making money. The
internet began to have an effect almost as soon as Americans went online. Between
1998 and 2002 the pieces of first class mail dropped from 54.3 billion to 49 billion
pieces. This has only continued to accelerate over the years. In 2004 the Postal
Service delivered 48 billion pieces of first class mail and in 2008 they delivered 39
billion pieces. (Kamarck, Para 5). In 2005 the lost cost the Postal Service $20
Billion (Nocera, Para 2). The dramatic reduction of first class mail is due to the
internet moving personal and business correspondence from paper mail to e mail

Nerve Impulse Research Paper
5i when the human body comes into contact with something hot, the instant reaction
is to quickly pull away. This action is called the reflex action. When one touches a
hot stove with one s hand the body creates a response, at the point that one s hand
touches, skin receptors quickly send electrical nerve impulses up the spinal cordvia
sensory neurons. It is in the spinal cord, the nerve impulses move from sensory
neurons to the interneurons (also known as relay neurons). The nerve impulses are
then carried to motor neurons that cause muscles to contract, which then influences
one to pull the hand away from the hot stove. This response is known as a reflex

King Kong Remake Analysis Essay
Movies have shown throughout our time that there is a strong underlying theme or
message that can be unseen to most. It can be a minuscule significance to some,
who focus on the violence and special effects, but once you start looking back at
the big picture of certain films, there is so much more. A lot of people tend to focus
on what is being filmed instead of how it s being filmed. The difference is
remarkable between the two films King Kong(1933) and the remake of King Kong
produced in 2005. The perspective of how the story played out is very different
between the two films. On one end, in the original, Kong is portrayed as a violent
beast similar to a Godzilla type figure that is a huge threat to civilization. In the
remake, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The newer film shows this by longer drawn out scenes between Ann and Kong that
are almost intimate. Even though Kong cannot talk, the audience can tell how he s
thinking by facial expressions, along with his grunts and roars. It s understandable
the older film wasn t able to show these certain sides of Kong due to technology
and outdated special effects, but they still repeatedly display Kong s actions and
intentions strictly out of violence. In the original Kong, he is captured and put on
display in New York City; he breaks out and is immediately enraged by the
situation. He begins to run around the city damaging buildings, killing innocent
civilians, and causing complete chaos. This again shows how Kong is a problem
with society and a huge threat to anyone near him. Putting his image as this out of
control beast brings the element that we have to conquer nature to express our true
power with weapons and technology. This scene dramatically differs in the new
film. Once Kong breaks free of captivity while being put on display on the stage, his
focus is not on destroying and causing harm. His motivation is fully on being reunited
with his love Ann. When he finally gets back together with her, they show just the
two of them playing together in the snow at central park. They are laughing and
enjoying themselves in a peaceful setting, showing that Kong means no harm at all.

Asimov s Three Laws
In Asimov s fictional universe, the Three Laws of Robotics are built most deeply
into a robot s positronic brain(Asimov 37) in order for robots not to cause harm to
humans or to other robots. They are not mere suggestions or guidelines they are
embedded into the brain that governs their behavior. Some may think that the
Three Laws as software; that they are just programmed into the robot s brain. You
could program the Laws and have a good robot or not program the Laws and have
an evil robot. In Little Lost Robot, Calvin says if you modify the Three Laws, you
would be left with complete instability, with no non imaginary solutions to the
positronic Field Equations (Asimov 119). The Laws aren t just programs; they are a
necessary part of how you build a positronic brain. Calvin says in Evidence that...

As we see in the short story Robbie, the robot causes Gloria emotional harm when
he leaves. Some may not believe that causing emotional harm is what Asimov
considered harm when constructing the Laws, but indeed Robbie did cause her

the story Liar! Dr. Susan Calvin develops a crush on a co worker and asks Herbie
to find out if her feelings are reciprocated. It turns out they aren t but Herbie lies,
reasoning that the truth might upset Calvin, and allow her to come to harm.

What has given the Prius continued growth has been the ever growing trend of
higher gas prices that has led many gas guzzling Americans to take a second look at
the Toyota Prius, this is evident by recent trend in increase in the U.S. Prius sales in
which there were 15,556 in 2001. They increased to 20,119 in 2002, from 2003 to
2004 the Prius saw a 110% increase in sales.
We Got Company: Competition
Toyota has been able to prove that the Hybrid vehicle is not the vehicle equivalent
of the pet rock. Creating this opening for the hybrid market has given Toyota a lot
of competition. The Prius s closest competitor came from Toyota s chief rival
Honda, which a year after the introduction of the Prius saw the arrival of the Honda
Insight in the Asian markets. The Insight provides consumers with a more fuel
economic vehicle at 61 / 70 mpg, which are at about the same price, with a 10 mpg
advantage in city miles over the Prius and a 25 mpg advantage in highway travel.
What the Insight does not have is the Space, the Honda Insight has an overall space
of 155.1 inches while the Prius has an additional twenty inches

If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? A Reader
Oriented approach to Edgar Alan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart The Titular question is
an old philosophical riddle for which a wide range of metaphysical and non
metaphysical solution has been offered. The answers differ based on the
perspective of the interpreter. Judging these answers is neither possible nor
desirable for us, but the riddle and the ensuing debates attest to the veracity of one
of the most basic tenets of reader response theory: If a text does not have a reader,
it does not exist or at least, it has no meaning. It s reader, with whatever experience

The narrator is a psychopath with wacky motivations. If we accept this convenient
explanation then we have to deal with another question: could a madman talks
with such lucidity and exactness? The answer that Ken Frieden gives to this
question is a positive one. He downplays the contrast between the sane narrative
and mad narrator: The discrepancy between sane narrator and madman perhaps
shows the error of assuming that linguistic normalcy implies psychological
normalcy. Friedan took it for granted that the narrator is mad because he kills an
old man for no reason. He is doubly mad, Friedan said, when he imagines he hears
the pounding of the dead man s heart and gives away the crime he had concealed.
Yet the narrator tells a coherent tale, as if to demonstrate out of spite that he is
sane, refuting the ordinary belief that he must be mad. On the other side of the
road, there are critics who are sympathetic toward the narrator and dismiss any
suggestion of madness. Daniel Hoffman, for instance is willing to believe the
narrator s claim about the Old man s eye. Hoffman reads the vulture like eye as a
Freudian Father Figure. He takes the old man as a father figure; whose Eye becomes
the all seeing surveillance of the child by the father. (Bloom 53) . This surveillance is,
Hoffman writes, the inculcation into his soul

The Mystery Date
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner, Joe, my father hollered
up the stairs, it s for you. It s Jackie, and she sounds upset. As I came downstairs to
pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice
quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie. Thirty minutes
later, however, Jackie s silver Mustang convertible swung into our driveway, and
Jackie was leaning on the horn before the car came to a full stop. Grabbing my
coat from the couch, I walk out my front door with all the enthusiasm of a man
going to stand before a firing squad. We head off down the road, I fretted, Where
are we going? To a mystery movie and then a mansion with a bunch of people we
don t know, she replied. Ten minutes later, we were in the theater to watch this
movie. The movie was about a mysterious man who hosted a dinner party at his
mansion. He had invited a bunch of people who lived in the city. These people
were from his high school and were the ones who had bullied and hurt him. When
his party began, he was not at his own party, but instead was hiding in his
elaborately built mansion so that he could hide almost anywhere without being seen
or heard. The mystery host intended to kill all of his guests for revenge. He
murdered all, but one person who was a private detective. The host was caught while

The House On Mango Street Analysis
The Novel, The House on Mango Street, was based on the writer Sandra Cisneros.

Throughout the novel, Esperanza tells us that she doesn t like the house on

we lived on Keeler. Before Keeler it was Paulina, and before that I can t remember

parents had to find jobs that are closer to them. Meaning that they are learning things
that could have learned before or they are just now learning the material and not

can get it most of the time. In the canteen, which was nothing special, lots of boys
and girls watched while I cried and ate my sandwich, the bread already greasy and
the rice cold (45). This just shows that begging your parents for something it not
always a good idea. Greasy bread and cold rice does not seem too appealing for a
lunch meal. Even though Esperanza and her family seem like they have a poor life,
they are not really that poor. At least they have a

conclusion on the subject of interest that is derived from actions, emotions, and
attitudes. Many contemporary psychologists have distinguished five clusters of
personality traits called the Big Five. The results of the research from the paper
identify the answer to the question about personality. The conclusion recognized that
everybody has a different personality developed by different components that includes
both inherited traits and learned traits. Plus, how those traits modify personalities.
The Origin of Personality: Nature or Nurture?
Personality is debated over what factors influence and shape it the most. Is it a person
s nature including genes and temperament or nurture with the environment and
culture? Do they both have an effect in the development of a personality? The main
purpose of this research paper will address these questions and examine how these
factors impact personalities.
Sonnet 30
The Disney film Frozen may seem innocent on the surface, but it disguises child
abuse and solitary confinement with a whimsical fantasy world containing trolls
and magical powers. Throughout her childhood, the older sister, Elsa, remains
confined to her room, unable to play with her sister and forced to repress her
magic. In one of the film s most heart wrenching moments, Elsa sits on the opposite
side of the door from her sister, just inches away from her, yet sobbing because she
lives isolated from the rest of her family. Elsa s parents ultimately abandon her to
deal with her emotional turbulence and growing powers alone, and when they die,
Elsa lacks someone with whom she can share her grief. Thus, Elsa spends her
childhood alone,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though line 1 and the beginning of line 2, where the speaker summon[s] up
remembrance (2), describe the speaker in the temporal present, the reference to
things past (2) marks the first mention of the past occurrence for which the speaker
grieves. Due to the sonnet s constant shifts between past and present, literary critic
Helen Vendler argues that Sonnet 30 participates in a form of temporal hop
scotching, whereby the poet s present self deliberately and habitually [makes] the
tears flow again... willingly [calling] up the griefs of the past (165). Specifically,
Vendler contends that the first quatrain introduces two of five major periods of time
from Sonnet 30 the speaker s present thoughts and his past losses. The wordplay in
the third line, where the speaker sigh[s] for things sought (3) spotlights this tension
between past and present, as Shakespeare [invents] a new verb (Vendler 167) to
distinguish the two. In the fourth line, Shakespeare delves deeper into his flashback,
recounting his old woes (4) to depict a time of sorrow. Similarly, the metrical
variation present in Shakespeare s dear times waste (4) emphasizes the ambiguity of
the sonnet s past the poet could mean a single catastrophic event or an entire lifetime,
rendering the entire sonnet an

The Role Of Paracelius In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
it takes more than just book knowledge to know how to do something, I cannot
describe to you the agony that these reflections inflicted upon me; I tried to dispel
them, but sorrow only increased with knowledge (Shelley 141). Victor Frankenstein
was very well educated, he attended The University of Ingolstadt, where he, as stated
before, studied natural philosophy and chemistry. Along with university, Frankenstein
was an avid reader of Paracelsus and Albert Magus, both philosophers who Victor
got a lot of his inspiration from. It was at this point in Frankenstein s life that he
decided he wanted to find the secret of life. His journey to find the secret of life led
him to trying to create the perfect human, which he failed at (Pahl 17). The
American Liberalism Essay
The idea of Liberalism, especially in the United States, is centered about the
unalienable rights of an individual such as the freedoms found in the United States
Bill of Rights. In the book, The Strange Death of American Liberalism by H.W.
Brands, Brands says that liberalism in the United States could only survive during
times of war. The United Statesretreats into liberalismwhen there is a war going on
and they need the federal government s assistance. On the other hand, the book,
Liberalism: The Genius of American Ideals by Marcus G. Raskin, argued that there
was no escaping from liberalism. According to Raskin, liberalism has not faded into
history like many people think. Liberalism is important in the United States because

To help recover the nation, the New Deal was designed to bring the economy back
to its pre depression levels. It achieved that by deficit spending, dropping the gold
standard, and increasing foreign trade. To reform the nation, the New Deal made it
possible for the economy to be stabilized. The reform measures that President
Roosevelt proposed included the NIRA or the National Industrial Recovery Act, the
regulation of Wall Street by the SEA or Security Exchange Act, the AAA or
Agricultural Adjustment Act that was intended for farm programs, the FDIC or the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation that dealt with insurance for bank deposits, as
well as the Wagner Act, which dealt with labor management relations.
Then liberalism in the United States was also expanded through President Lyndon B.
Johnson during the 1960s with his Great Society. Liberalism under President Johnson
became a form of social liberalism, which meant that President Johnson thought that
liberalism should include social justice. So he expanded liberalism through the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, the Community Reinvestment Act, as well as the Voting Rights
Act of 1965. He transferred liberalism into neoliberalism, meaning that it became
more focused on the business aspect of the nation that would help determine the
political and economic priorities

Gold Fish Experiment Hypothesis
Hypothesis:
The null hypothesis is that subjecting goldish to darkness instead of ambient light
will not have an effect on the metabolism of goldfish, measured by levels of oxygen
concentration. The alternative hypothesis is that subjecting the goldfish to darkness
instead of ambient light will have an effect on the goldfishes metabolism, changing
the level of oxygen consumption.
Results:
The sample size for four groups measuring control and experimental subjects was
eight (n=8). The fishes varied in weight ranging from an average of about 7.2 to 10.1
grams, and out of eight trials, one consisted of two fish undergoing control and
experimental conditions to measure changes in oxygen concentrations. The goldfish
in darkness had a higher oxygen consumption rate of 347 mgO2/(L*hr) than goldfish
in ambient lighting, a rate of 259 mgO2/(L*hr). The standard deviations for the
control and experimental groups undergoing darkness was 81 mgO2/(L*hr) and 105
mgO2/(L*hr) respectively. An unpaired t test was recorded, and the p value was 0.081.
Discussion:
Due to a p value of 0.081, larger than 0.05, the null hypothesis fails to be rejected.
This means that a dark environment around the goldfish does not have a significant
effect on oxygen consumption. The consumption rates between goldfish under
ambient lighting and goldfish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Hippocrates Affect The World Today
Hippocrates affecting the world today Hippocrates is a very significant figure in the
history of medicine that is still helping our society today. Hippocrates is known for
the oath which physicians still use today. His ideas have also greatly improved and
advanced medicine to help other. Also, his research of the four humours in the
classics period helped other physicians further explore the cures for sickness/diseases.
Hippocrateslived 460 377 BCE, during the Golden Age, (Lawerence, Hippocratic
Galenic Medicine). Everyone knows who Hippocrates is, but I believe there is not
one single thing he is known for because he has done so much. The Hippocratic Oath
is extremely important because doctors today still use it every day in hospitals
Christopher Booker s Essay
Christopher Booker, an English journalist from telegraph, made a controversial
claim about the reality of global warming (aka climate change). In his article from
the op ed section, Booker expresses a conservative view by asserting the warmist
were wrong about the effects of climate change that include rising sea level as result
of melting glaciers.
To backup his claim, Booker states, The European Space Agency in 2013 and 2014
revealed that after years when the volume of Arctic ice had been diminishing, it
increased again by as much as 33 percent (Booker 2015). While some may be
thrown off by his statistic, we must look at how accurate his fact is regarding to the
European Space Agency s claim. In fact on European Space Agency s website, the
agency actually claimed that between 2011 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In one of the anecdote about Al gore s trip to North Pole to measure ice thickness,
Booker reported, The men going on this expedition had to be airlifted back because
the ice was too thick to measure with an electronic instrument (Booker, 2015). In
addition, Booker also provide another anecdote that shows Canadian scientists
studying the effect of climate change on Arctic ice ..had to suspend their research
because their vessel was trapped in the thickest summer ice (Booker 2015). With
these two anecdotes, Booker believe the Arctic has not experienced the effects of
climate change because the Arctic is still seen as a very cold, dangerous place.
Empirically speaking, it is difficult to conduct research by sending humans to
measure glaciers thickness in the Arctic, but this difficulty does not disprove any of
the satellites data supporting the effects of climate change. The informations we have
yet to find can not dismiss the evidences we do have that support how climate
change is affecting ocean sea levels and
Mission Statement On Community And Community Service
In...
I hope you are doing well. As one of the members of the youth, I would like to
address a concern of mine involving the youth group. Our church s mission
statement is experience, equip, and severe. As a whole, I feel that the youth group is
lacking in the area of service. Not only is community service important to our church,
I also believe it is crucial to have our youth involved in communityoutreach to
promote emotional and spiritual growth. I believe our youth should participate in
more community outreach because it will counter selfish tendencies, allow the youth
to feel helpful, and promote our church s presence in our community.
Let s face the fact, in general, the youth today are very selfish and narcissistic. It s all
about having the coolest clothes, the newest iPhone, or how many likes and retweets
they can get. It sometimes seems as if caring for others has completely disappeared
from their thought process. They have very much embraced the selfie lifestyle. Along
with selfishness and narcissism, the youth also seem to have become somewhat
ungrateful. Although some may say that this is how typical teenagers act, I think
over the past few years it has become more and more prevalent. Despite that fact, is
it not our job as a youth group to try to work against the negative stereotypes and
better ourselves. To overcome and rise above the low expectations we typically have.
This is why I believe creating and promoting community outreach opportunities is so
important.
Lord Voldemort Essay
In the book Harry Potter and the philosopher s stone, Lord Voldemort was presented
as a bad guy whose name you are not allowed to say out loud. What if he was so
called tragic hero ? To be convinced by my claim, the first thing a reader needs to
know is that this is based on opinions and evidence such as Voldemort is not just a
bad guy, he is a very clever figure and a huge part of the whole series, therefore, you
can t just call him a bad villain . I have read an extended essay made by Latoya C. In
her essay, she proves us how we can perceive Lord Voldemort as a tragic hero rather
than just a villain that he is usually portrayed for. I started reading the book: Harry
Potterand The Philosopher s Stone a month ago, at the start it wasn t... Show more

It might have been eroded, repressed, suppressed or somehow distorted with in him
after he was really damaged. He is claiming that Voldemort wasn t blatantly bad, he
means that there was something good in Voldemort after all. What if when
Voldemort was about to kill Harry Potter as a baby, but started feeling bad and left
him alive. I agree with Ralph Fiennes that there is not a single person who is fully
bad, there must be a spark of kindness/hope, light, etc. in everyone.
In a conclusion, in this essay, I have shown proof of how many other ways you can
think of Lord Voldemort, not just as a villain, more like how you can think of him
as a tragic hero. Also, I found proof of the actress saying, Voldemort is not blatantly
evil. I thought about a couple of options for why Voldemort didn t success in killing
Harry Potter, perhaps he felt guilty of killing his parents or Harry Potter just had
magical skills to resist
The Absolutely True Story Of A Part-Time Indian
Many people use humor to manage miserable situations in their life. In the book,
The Absolutely True Story of a Part Time Indian, Junior works through many tough
situations using humor. He works through situations such as death, poverty, and
conflict. This essay will show how Junior manages all of these situations using
humor. Junior manages death using humor. An example of this would be on page
170, which has the comic, How to get the last sip of wine from the bottom of the
beer bottle . This comic how you can get the last sip of wine from a beer bottle. It
also shows how Junior s dad s best friend, Eugene, might have died. It displays some
absurd ways to obtain the last sip of wine. It makes the seriousness of the situation
somewhat amusing.

  • 1. My Career Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "My Career" might seem like a straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of one's professional journey can be surprisingly challenging. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between personal reflection and professional aspirations while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative. Firstly, exploring one's career path necessitates introspection and self-analysis. This involves delving into personal experiences, decisions, and milestones that have shaped one's professional trajectory. It can be emotionally charged, requiring the writer to navigate through their successes, failures, and the lessons learned along the way. Crafting an engaging and compelling essay demands not only self-awareness but also effective storytelling skills. Connecting the dots between different phases of your career in a seamless and interesting manner is essential. The challenge lies in avoiding a mundane, chronological account and instead, infusing the narrative with a sense of purpose, passion, and growth. Moreover, articulating future career goals can be daunting. Forecasting where one sees themselves professionally requires thoughtful consideration and a realistic approach. Balancing ambition with a practical understanding of the industry and personal capabilities adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. • 2. The Importance Of Names In Song Of Solomon People choose names for a reason, whether it is so that the child takes on a certain personality, based on who they are named after, or so that he or she may carry on the name of a beloved family member. Many names that are popular today are names from the Bible, since most of the biblical characters possess characteristics that parents would want their child to have. Names like Noah, Jacob, David, and Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are all biblical names. Names from the Bibleare also found in many works of literature, like Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, a coming of age story about a young man during the mid twentieth century. The reader is introduced to multiple characters with biblical names, which correspond to the characters personalities. In the book Song of Solomon, the characters take on the role of their biblical names. Reba, Milkman s mother, can most closely be associated with Rebecca from the Bible, as their names are nearly identical. In the Bible, Rebecca is known for her loyalty and devotion to her son Jacob, whom she favors over her other son, Esau. She willingly ruins her relationship to one of her sons and also her husband, Isaac, both of which she loves dearly. In Song of Solomon, Reba cherishes her daughter Hagar, and makes sacrifices to please her, one of which includes the donation of her diamond ring, which she miraculously wins when she walks into a Sears store. The winning of the ring shows Reba s
  • 3. International Student And High Tuition Essay Studying with those from another background other than our own provides opportunities for greater discovery, understanding, and cooperation. International students bring a variety of ideas and new perspectives to the classroom, aiding in the educational process for all and are an important component to many universities campus climate. Beyond the important cultural components they bring to campus, International students are also a source of high tuition revenue for universities. Students are often charged multiple times the rate of tuition that in state domestic students pay, such as the Universityof Washington, where international students pay almost three times as much per year (Lewin, 2012). The retention and graduation rates of all students are important to universities; however, research on international studentpersistence has largely been missing in the literature (Andrade 2009; Andrade and Evans 2009). Interestingly enough, the Institute of International Education (IIE) and other government agencies do not report data on international studentpersistence rates (Evans et al, 2009). The majority of universities report their student graduation and retention rates on their websites, with many universities including their percentages by ethnic groups; however, very few universities identify the specific rates for the international student population. According to the IIE, the international student population in the United States comprises only about 3.5% of the total
  • 4. Military Forces in Vietnam Fighting for the Survival of... The term ARVN many times is used to describe all military forces in Vietnam fighting for the political survival of South Vietnam. It refers to the army within the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces (RVNAF), which includes the air force, navy, marines, rangers, regional and popular forces, and civil defense forces. There are four conventional field divisions and six light divisions which the ARVN were structured into in 1956. In 1959 this was reorganized into seven infantry divisions and three corps headquarters. This reorganization was to essentially better deal with the communist led insurgency and to make the most of U.S. advisory efforts. From there, there was an increase in the ARVN force structure which was comprised with ten infantry... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meanwhile, the ARVN lived up to these negative views. They lost over 200,000 men in combat, some of whom must have been committed to counterrevolutionary alternatives. Ground commanders treated the notion of rotation the ARVN units to the frontlines as a joke of sorts. For example, an attempt was made to transfer the ARVN 18th Division in July 1969 to hot delta border regions for invaluable combat experience. This meant that the ARVN were secondary players in terms of strategy, tactics, and logistics. In other words, like Huei (2006) states the ARVN simply just did what they were told (Huei, 2006). Based on the books we were provided about the Vietnam War, I wanted to focus on the relationship the Americans and NVA had with the ARVNs. More specifically, I wanted to examine how the ARVNs relationship with both sides of the war shaped our perception of the Vietnam War. I was inspired not only for personal reasons but to also see it through the lenses of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) in South Vietnam. What were the relationships like among the American soldiers and the ARVN soldiers? What were the ARVN s duties and did they help accomplish anything? Information about the ARVN soldiers is not clearly mentioned that we are unaware of what they did during the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, from the guest speakers in class they did not have much to say about their relationship with the ARVN nor if they even had a relationship. Instead they proudly

  • 6. Community Observation Paper Conclusion In review of the data collected for this assignment, I have gained greater insight into the population I serve. Much of the data simply reinforced my assumptions, but others; like the information on race, has given me a better understanding about the population I serve and has given me greater insight into the social tension and conflict that appears to be at the forefront of concerns for many of my students (Moore, Bagin Gallagher, 2013, p.18). Race is always an issue for many of my students. After reviewing the census data I noticed that most of the population identifies themselves as one race, and the racial divide is almost 50/50 between blacks and whites. I believe that it is safe to assume that the majority of the individuals who live in the city do not hold many the high paying jobs at this institution. If I look at the community through the eyes of my students, I would probably equate success with being white as well, simply because the majority of individuals I see in positions of success are Caucasian. The campus of St. Louis University and Washington University are flooded with a Caucasian majority. The Doctors and Nurses at BJC may not all be Caucasian, but they are certainly not African American. Even at my school, the majority of the teachers are Caucasian. In my district, it appears that the best High Schools have the fewest number of African American teachers. I am sure that this model holds true for elementary and middle schools within the district as well. Also, I know of very few teachers who actually live within the boundaries of the School District. An analysis of average household income by race, could offer a

  • 8. Grace Throughout the Bible Essay I will look at the lives of Moses, Haggai and Ester who with God s grace overcame huge obstacles in their families, situations, and beliefs to further God s Kingdom in amazing ways. In Philip Yancey s Book What s so Amazing About Grace? Yancey says that grace, Contains the essence of the gospel as a drop of water can contain the image of the sun. (Yancey, 12) This and Gods promise that his grace will never leave us makes grace an incredible theme throughout the Bible. Grace is an incredible thing that is defined in a variety of ways. Russell the idea that grace is one of the most important words in the Bible is widely discussed. Russell says that grace is the single most important word to describe God s love for us. When God speaks to Moses and fills him with his grace God is showing us how much he loves us. Russell challenges his reader to live a life overflowing with grace. Much like how Moses lived his life. In such a way that the people around him couldn t help but take notice that Moses was chosen by God and with his grace was able to do work for his kingdom. Ester overcomes her place as a woman and saves the Hebrews. In the book Flawed Families of the Bible by David Diana Garland we see the connections between family struggles and the grace that surfaces within. Yet it is in these broken places that we catch glimpses of God s grace and healing, of God silently reaching in to touch the wound, and broken people stepping up to do what is right. (Garland, 14) God s grace works in people and situations that have imperfections. Esther came from a small village, was orphaned as a child, was raised by her cousin Mordecai and was Jewish. She had a broken family and the deck was stacked against her but she had favor with God and was given not only his grace but also the grace of the king. And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained

At the time, I was thirteen years old and still had a strong notion that my dad would eventually come and join us in Bel Air, Maryland, where we had moved to during the summer of 2006. However, towards the end of the summer, I slowly came to terms with the fact that I would not be living with my father the way I had before. Through interactions with my new predominantly white middle school friends, I was exposed to a wider variety of genres such as metal, rock (classic and new age), punk, and pop. At the time, I believed I just listened to this new genre music because it was new and what my friends listened to, however, now I realize it was a potential mechanism for me to separate myself from the familial turmoil I was facing at the time. In particular, I remember hearing the song Beast and The Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold for the first time and it instantaneously became a favorite for me. Not only did it have dynamic rhythms, but the song also had a lot of contrast in the melodic elements as well, a musical idea that, according to Mike Rugnetta, is responsible for the emotional we feel in response to music. In addition, I believe I honed in on this song and the surrounding genre because of the masculinity associated with the song. Beast and Harlot , in music at least (the video had some feminine elements, however, the video was not released at the time), had all the elements of masculinity similar to elements we discussed in class. The dynamic vocals combined with the loud and brash music was representative of my temperament at the time, the lyrics also discussed religious in an impious fashion, which tied into my efforts to separate myself from my

  • 14. Just Society For The Common Good What does it mean to form a more just society for the common good? I will be examining Dr. Martin Luther King s Letter from a Birmingham Jail, as well as Gustavo Gutierrez s essay, The Option for the Poor Arises from Love of Christ. Dr. King examines the facets of social injustice through a letter that he wrote while imprisoned for a nonviolent public protest. King s letter is in response to a letter from eight fellow clergymen. In the letter from the clergymen they criticize King s due process in seeking justiceand his social injustice movement, so King responds with what I believe to be one of the greatest examples of a man who personifies what it means to form a more just society for the common good. He does not only speak on his behalf, but he speaks out all of humanity. Likewise, Gustavo Gutierrez examines specifically the poor in a similar manner, but believes that these poor people have found the ultimate meaning in life and we should all seek to have that same spiritual connection to God, for it would make our society a better place. The preferential option for the poor is seeking a deeper connection to God by bringing justice to light. Gutierrez and Dr. King both exemplify men who have truly set an example on how to form a more just society for the common good of humanity. Dr. King begins his letter deliberately and without emotion, he addresses their first criticism of him, which is him being an outsider and that he has no place in Birmingham. This is where

Beer might have/had influenced the transition from hunting and gathering to agricultural based societies. One way beer could have done this was that after the discovery of beer, the demand for beer began to increase. With increase demand for beer, farming would increase taking away time to hunt and gather for food. With less hunting and gathering, farmers eventually settled down in small areas around the Fertile Crescent to create beer. The banning of wine in Islamic culture would be the basic start for the banning of many other foods. The prophet Muhammad s ban on alcohol is said to have started from a fight between two men who were under the influence. When Muhammad sought divine help from the one and only Allah, Allah s reply was to ban alcohol so that such a thing could not happen again. As for wine, it had a different story for the development of Christianity. Wine drinking was a tradition of Greeks and Romans. When barbarians took over Rome and Greece, wine drinking seemed to have halted. But as time went on, barbarians began to take up wine drinking again, sort of assimilating themselves into Greek culture. Barbarians soon became civilized, all thanks to the tradition of wine drinking. Spirits in the Colonial Period (Chapters 5 and 6) How did spirits advance/accelerated colonialism? In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, he discusses how society controls information so that the people know only what they need to know and nothing more. In the Matrixthey show how society has used the control of information to create an illusion of a dreamworld as Morpheus calls it, to crete a false sense of security and happiness. Or you can just accept everything as you believe it to be and continue living in the dreamworld that was created for you to live in. The next similarity is when Neal is in a womb like container and he had numerous tubes connected to him, all of these tubes symbolize our need for and ties to society. As an individual we are tied to society through the necessities of life such as; clothing, housing, food, and jobs, and through these same aspects we are contributing to society so it creates a cycle of dependency. We are dependent because we are unable to create most of these things by ourselves without the help of society. for example to build a house in order to get wood or lumber to build it you would need someone to manufacture it so that you would have boards for siding and roofing, and beams and boards for walls and supports. This one necessity is just an example of our dependency on society as an individual. Since we are so dependent on society that corporations know that they can exploit us without us knowing it. An example of this from the matrix would be when Morpheus is apologizing to Neal for having to retrain his mind and he tells him it had to be done, I had no choice. He is talking about how Neal is seen to be the Chosen one and so Morpheus felt like he had no choice but to make Neal retrain his mind even though he is technically too old

They both relied on the spiritual world and their deceased ancestors to dictate how they should handle their earthly affairs. The was still a tie between the heavenly world and the earthly realm, so much so that it decided which dynasty had the right to rule. Since 1970 the Unites States Postal Service has been self sufficient. When one touches a hot stove with one s hand the body creates a response, at the point that one s hand touches, skin receptors quickly send electrical nerve impulses up the spinal cordvia sensory neurons. It is in the spinal cord, the nerve impulses move from sensory neurons to the interneurons (also known as relay neurons). It can be a minuscule significance to some, who focus on the violence and special effects, but once you start looking back at the big picture of certain films, there is so much more. A lot of people tend to focus on what is being filmed instead of how it s being filmed. The difference is remarkable between the two films King Kong(1933) and the remake of King Kong produced in 2005. The perspective of how the story played out is very different between the two films. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The newer film shows this by longer drawn out scenes between Ann and Kong that are almost intimate. Even though Kong cannot talk, the audience can tell how he s thinking by facial expressions, along with his grunts and roars. It s understandable the older film wasn t able to show these certain sides of Kong due to technology and outdated special effects, but they still repeatedly display Kong s actions and intentions strictly out of violence. In the original Kong, he is captured and put on display in New York City; he breaks out and is immediately enraged by the situation. He begins to run around the city damaging buildings, killing innocent civilians, and causing complete chaos. This again shows how Kong is a problem with society and a huge threat to anyone near him. Putting his image as this out of control beast brings the element that we have to conquer nature to express our true power with weapons and technology. This scene dramatically differs in the new film. Once Kong breaks free of captivity while being put on display on the stage, his focus is not on destroying and causing harm. His motivation is fully on being reunited with his love Ann. When he finally gets back together with her, they show just the two of them playing together in the snow at central park. They are laughing and enjoying themselves in a peaceful setting, showing that Kong means no harm at all. Until all of the sudden police and military forces interrupt the two

Yet the narrator tells a coherent tale, as if to demonstrate out of spite that he is sane, refuting the ordinary belief that he must be mad. On the other side of the road, there are critics who are sympathetic toward the narrator and dismiss any suggestion of madness. Daniel Hoffman, for instance is willing to believe the narrator s claim about the Old man s eye. Hoffman reads the vulture like eye as a Freudian Father Figure. He takes the old man as a father figure; whose Eye becomes the all seeing surveillance of the child by the father. (Bloom 53) . This surveillance is, Hoffman writes, the inculcation into his soul

Our church s mission statement is experience, equip, and severe. As a whole, I feel that the youth group is lacking in the area of service. Not only is community service important to our church, I also believe it is crucial to have our youth involved in communityoutreach to promote emotional and spiritual growth. I believe our youth should participate in more community outreach because it will counter selfish tendencies, allow the youth to feel helpful, and promote our church s presence in our community. Let s face the fact, in general, the youth today are very selfish and narcissistic. It s all about having the coolest clothes, the newest iPhone, or how many likes and retweets they can get. It sometimes seems as if caring for others has completely disappeared from their thought process. They have very much embraced the selfie lifestyle. Along with selfishness and narcissism, the youth also seem to have become somewhat ungrateful. Although some may say that this is how typical teenagers act, I think over the past few years it has become more and more prevalent. Despite that fact, is it not our job as a youth group to try to work against the negative stereotypes and better ourselves. To overcome and rise above the low expectations we typically have. This is why I believe creating and promoting community outreach opportunities is so important.
