Video Game Violence Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of video game violence can be a challenging task that requires a
nuanced approach. Firstly, delving into the complex relationship between video games and real-
life aggression demands a thorough understanding of psychological and sociological
perspectives. The literature on this subject is vast, encompassing studies that both support and
challenge the notion that violent video games contribute to aggressive behavior.
Constructing a coherent argument involves synthesizing conflicting research findings and
presenting a balanced perspective. Addressing the potential impact of violent content on different
age groups and considering cultural variations adds another layer of complexity to the task.
Moreover, exploring the evolution of video game content, from pixelated graphics to realistic
simulations, requires a historical perspective.
On the other hand, dissecting the counterarguments that emphasize individual responsibility,
parental guidance, and the lack of conclusive evidence demands critical thinking skills.
Additionally, one must navigate the ongoing debate surrounding censorship, freedom of
expression, and the role of the gaming industry in shaping content.
Crafting a compelling essay also necessitates a strong thesis statement that encapsulates the
essence of the argument. Providing relevant examples and case studies to support claims adds
credibility, but choosing these examples judiciously is crucial to avoid oversimplification.
The conclusion must tie together diverse strands of information while leaving room for
reflection. A well-rounded essay on video game violence should not only present information but
also invite readers to ponder the broader implications for society, culture, and individual
behavior.
In summary, writing an essay on video game violence is challenging due to the need for a deep
understanding of psychological, sociological, and cultural factors. It involves navigating
conflicting research, addressing counterarguments, and exploring the evolution of gaming
content. Crafting a nuanced argument requires critical thinking skills and the ability to present a
balanced perspective. Ultimately, the complexity of the topic requires careful consideration and
thorough research to produce a well-informed and compelling essay.

Methods Of The Collection Of Aerosols
Methods of the collection of aerosols for analysis
Analysis of the composition of aerosols is very important for the development of
many different industries and areas of study; however this analysis is challenging
because aerosol particles can be difficult to collect.1 Aerosol particles can be
collected onto a substrate and then analysed. The collection surface can be a porous
medium such as a filter operating at a low flow rate whereby some or all of the
particles suspended in the aerosol flow are retained. In many applications particles
from the gas flow are extracted by an externally applied force e.g. in a centrifuge or
electrostatic precipitator. The collection process should result in the sample taken
being representative of the aerosol in its original state therefore it should not be
chemically changed in the process. Characteristics such as mass, number
concentration and size distribution of particles should remain unchanged however it
is difficult to prevent these changes.2
Aerosols consist of solid or liquid particles in a gaseous medium; therefore the
particles must be filtered and/or extracted into solution to prepare for chemical
analysis. However carboxylic acid and carbonyl containing compounds present in
aerosols react with commonly used organic solvents such as methanol over a
timeframe of minutes to hours. Although an extraction solvent can be selected so
that it does not react with the aerosol particles, the solvent used will be dependent on

Homophobia in American Beauty
I watched the movie American Beauty a couple of days ago and saw how
homophobia might be a sign that the homophobic might be a homosexual. So I
though I d write about it. American Beauty centers on the last year of Lester
Burnham s life. Lester Burnham, played by Kevin Spacey, is married to Carolyn
Burnham, played by Annette Betting, and their marriage is picture perfect on the
outside, but the perfection is only superficially. Their marriage is based on
projecting one image a picture perfect suburbia lifestyle when it is in fact quite the
opposite. Colonel Frank Fitts played by Chris Cooper, is the new neighbor who is
presented as a homophobic man. He hates on and puts down the homosexual couple
in the neighborhood constantly. So what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men fear humiliation or weakness because they always have to present everyone this
image of being though, dominant and dependent; men despise anything that goes
against these traditional views of masculinity. This traditional thoughts lead to
homophobia. The media is constantly portraying men in a violent or dominant way in
the movies, TV shows, etc. Asians are almost always portrayed as martial artist or
violent criminals and Latinos as boxers, criminals or though gangsters.
Ever since the Colonel moved in he shows this extreme disgust towards
homosexuals around his neighborhood. He even shows this behavior towards his
son Ricky when he becomes suspicious of his (Ricky s) relationship with Lester.
Probably when the Colonel was growing up, being gay was the worse and he tried to
hide it from his parents and thought the army might help straighten him out and got
married to try to appear like a normal man. At the end of the movie Frank believes
he sees his son taking money from Lester for sexual favors and this results in Ricky
leaving the house.

The death of Lester Burnham is simply because he aroused his homophobic
neighbor. Lester appears to be sexually available to men when he tells his neighbor:
Our (Lester s and Carolyn s) marriage is just for show...a commercial for how
normal we are, when we re anything but... He (Frank) attempts to kiss Lester, proving
his hidden desire for men.
In a quick recap of the film: new neighbors move into
Needs Assessment
1. I would use a combination of questionnaires, interviews and observations to
conduct what is needed in the assessments. Questionnaires: This will be an
assessment where they will be anonymous. This will hopefully allow for the people
who do not want to come forward to give their input on the subject without being
identified.
Interviews: By interviewing people who could possibly be involved and alumni who
have taken similar course I should be able to identify areas that need major
improvements along with areas that seemed to work well but might need slight
improvement.
Observation: This will give me the ability to see in action what is working and what
is not. By observing the class and what is happening daily gives great ... Show more

I would address these concerns because the course this course will go further than just
patient care we will talk about safety of the patient and the technologist along with
how to communicate with patients and their concerns in regards to radiation and how
to proceed with the procedure the doctor prescribed.
5. The learners would be anyone that is new to radiology and taking courses to
achieve their license in this field. They will benefit by learning safety protocols for
the patient and technologist, how effective communication is in the x ray room and
how this communication can not only ease tension but can also help to produce a
better exam. There is a lot to learn about people and in Radiology where you only
have a short time to gain their trust and confidence this is necessary.
6. List of goals and topics: Communication: Give better insight on communicating
with different nationalities and ages. Transferring patients: this can cause a lot of
harm to both the patient and technologist if not done properly. We will be going over
proper techniques and requirements to make sure this is done safely Safety: this goes
along with the previous goal and also with protecting the technologist against what
the patients may have contacted. This includes airborne and droplet precautions and
needle/blood safety.
7. The type of curriculum that I want to approach these issues would be a basic
lecture. Then move on to

Treatment Intervention Outcomes for Veterans with PTSD Description and
Summary Post traumatic stress disorder is considered as a psychiatric disorder that
creates impairments in occupational, interpersonal, and social functioning. Although
there are several treatment processes for veterans suffering from this condition, some
intervention may fail to generate desired results. Veterans who fail to show
appropriate recovery should be supported with an alternative treatment plan (Aurora
et al., 2010). Veterans develop the condition because of exposure to traumatizing...

Lack of an effective treatment plan is major problem that is affecting the quality of
medical interventions given to the war veterans with PTSD (Kennedy, Jaffee,
Leskin, Stokes, Leal Fitzpatrick, 2007). This paper will answer the following
research question, what is the effect of the application of Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction (MBSR) to war veterans with PTSD . The paper will contain explanation
of the benefits of MBSR particularly to patients experiencing anxiety and pain. The
study will make a comparison between a standard psychotherapy treatment and
MBSR (Roberts, Kitchiner, Kenardy Bisson, 2009). The research will focus on
generating another treatment option for war veterans after serving in military
operations for many years. It will determine the efficacy of MBSR compared to
PCGT as a treatment option (Bisson, Ehlers, Matthews, Pilling, Richards Turner,

Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Oedipus
The protagonists in the plays Hamlet and Oedipus Rex share a commonality in
terms of serving justice for the death of their past king; however, in terms of free
will, these princes are polar opposites. In the first instance, both protagonists differ
greatly as a result of their fate, while Hamlet is given a task that he can choose to
obey or dismiss, Oedipusis given a prophecy that forecasts how his life will go down.
From this alone, it s clear how Hamlets destiny is in his hands, yet as for Oedipus, he
will fulfill his prophecy whether he likes it or not. As a result of this, Hamlet is
able to think and logically configure how to complete the task, however, Oedipus
acts so impulsively that he is unable to think properly before acting. While Hamlet
is able to conduct himself with such control that he can even trick others that his
mad, Oedipus loses his mind and acts crazily and rashly. Since Hamlet is able to
freely do his task, he is able to die honorably, while Oedipus could not feel satisfied
with his actions because he did them unknowingly and unwillingly. Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus appear to be similar because of their circumstances,
but in terms of their struggle between fate and free will Hamlet is at an advantage.
There is a substantial difference between being foretold what will happen and
receiving a task, this difference comes into play when contrasting with the freedom
Oedipus and Hamlet are given. In Oedipus case he is given a

Divestiture Business Risk As a consequence of the governments intervention, the AT
T lawsuit settlement, as well as the shift in the telecommunication industry, it was
clear that AT Ts local telecommunication business was slowly moving away from a
monopoly franchise environment. It was moving towards a more competitive
environment characterized with more consumer choice and greater competition.
Companies such as IBM saw the divestiture of AT T as an opportunity to provide new
telecommunication equipment and services, which would allow them to gain a
higher market share. AT T s stock had up till then been regarded as a stable utility
type stock because of its steady growth and consistent dividend yield. However, AT T
should have kept in mind that they would not have as much market control in the
future as they did prior the divestiture, much due to the intensifying competition and
regulatory environment changes.
Firstly, the antitrust lawsuit followed by a sudden divestiture could cause
uncertainties towards the company s future and might change the shareholders
perception of AT T in an unfortunate way.
Second, the seven new corporations would be highly independent, and therefore a
major rearrangement of the capital structure would be vital. It is likely
Essay on George Washington Biography
George Washington was born February 22, 1732. He was elected as the first
president by the Electoral College unanimously in 1789. Washington is commonly
called the Father of his country since he played a major role in fighting for
independence and helped form the government we now have. Many of his
leadership practices became the template for the way politics have proceeded
following his terms. For example his use of a group of counselors known as a
cabinet is still in practice today. He only served for two terms and then stepped down
which became, for the most part, the accepted norm for future presidents. George
Washingtonis associated with some folklore tales such as being widely known for
admitting to his father that he chopped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of these experiences and his successes later on he was appointed as the
commander in chief of the Continental Army to fight the British in the American
Revolution. Washington fought in a few wars and many battles throughout his
military career to include the American Revolutionary Warand the French Indian war
(or seven years war). Some of his Revolutionary war battles include the siege at
Boston, Valley Forge, the Battle of Brandywine, the Surrender at Yorktown, and the
Battle of Long Island among others. Washington had a lengthy military career. He
demonstrated his military leadership abilities early on during the siege at Boston. At
Boston he blocked land access to the town and limited British supply missions from
her naval assets. He then sent a man named Henry Knox to bring heavy artillery that
had been captured from the British at Fort Ticonderoga to Boston. In a very difficult
mission, Knox maneuvered many of their cannons to the area surrounding Boston in
January 1776. In March 1776, these cannons were used to overlook
John In Brave New World
Try to imagine yourself in a utopian society where people are drugged to feel happy
and you have no clue what is going on in the outside world around you. John also
known as Savage tries to imagine what life would be like if he lived in the utopian
society instead of the real world only to realize it isn t all that it seems. O brave new
world, he repeated. O brave new world that has so much people in it. Let s start at

In fact , said Mustapha Mond, you re claiming the right to be unhappy. All right
then, said the Savage defiantly, I m claiming the right to be unhappy. (Huxley 240)
John went to Mustapha Mond and requested to leave with Bernard to iceland and
Mustapha Mond replied saying that was like asking to have the right to be
unhappy so John said he wants them all. Even though Mustapha denied his request
to go to iceland with Bernard John left in the helicopter and was dropped off at an
abandoned lighthouse. John was discovered one day whipping himself by
reservation guards they tried to stop him from whipping himself but he frightened
them so they left but sent a reporter, John kicked the reporter and ended up in the
paper giving away where he was staying so one day dozen of people showed up
chanting for him to do the whip stunt again and to whip himself. What do you want
with me? The whip, replied a hundred voices confusedly. Do the whipping stunt.
Let s see the whipping stunt. (Huxley 256) John ended up doing it and in the end
he killed himself, he was different than everyone else, he saw things people didn t
dare to see for themselves. In conclusion John was just an outsider, left alone, no
one included him in things because he was different but at the same time he was
just like everyone else. John was born like everyone else at the reservation but they
still didn t accept him because of his family. All John had was his mother Linda.

Essay Apocalypse Now
The horrors and mental terror should be your friends, or feared enemy.
In the movie, Apocalypse Now from 1979, we are shown, through the characters
changing characterisation and the movies script, the horrors of the Vietnam war,
and how the soldier fighting the war, is affected by it. We are given an idea of what
it takes to fight and win a war.
The first seven minutes of the movie resumes the entire war through captain
Benjamin L. Willard s behaviour while spending a week in a hotel room waiting for
a mission in the Vietnamese city Saigon. At first, we are shown the palm trees and

He listens to Kurtz talking about the essentials of war: Horror and moral terror are
your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. And Kurtz is
convinced that the American army is not strong enough to be friends with the
horror. To explain this to Willard we are told a story, in which the Americans are
inoculating the children of a Vietnamese children. After this the Viet Cong came in
and cut of the inoculated arms of the children. To Kurtz this shows the courage and
the will it takes to win a war. He is sure that the Americans will lose the war. As
Willard listens to the story you get a feeling that he begins to understand Kurtz. He
silently agrees with his views, and perhaps it is exactly these words that makes
him able to kill Kurtz in the end. Kurtz is the captain in Walt Whitman s poem Oh
Captain! My Captain! Willard is the soldier who lost his commander, but in this
scenario Willard is also the killer of the captain. It is Kurtz own words who leads to
his death, and this he is aware of.
Through the main character Captain Willard, we are shown the different physical
and mental states of a soldier during war. In the end, we are told what it takes to win
a war, and how bravery is not based in good ethics, but in will and
Three Evils Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless
midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can
never become a reality (Martin Luther King Jr., Acceptance Speech, 1964).Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 to Martin Luther King Sr.
and Alberta Williams King in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up with his older sister
Christine King and his younger brother Daniel Williams King in Atlanta s Sweet
Auburn neighborhood. He attended a segregated High School and later went on to
study at Morehouse College for medicine and law. He had not intended to be a
pastor but ended up attending Crozer Theological Seminary, earning a Bachelor of
Divinity Degree. Later, he enrolled into Boston University, earning a doctorate in
Systematic Theology. He met his wife Coretta Scott during his time in Boston,
marrying her June 18, 1953; together they had four children:Yolanda Denise King
(1955 2007), Martin Luther King III (born 1957), Dexter Scott King (born 1961)
and Bernice Albertine King (born 1963). King s major ideas revolved around
nonviolence and equality. He had a serious of three evils (Triple Evils): Poverty,
Racism, and Militarism. A second evil which plagues the modern world is that of
poverty. Like a monstrous octopus, it projects its nagging, prehensile tentacles in
lands and villages all over the world. Almost two thirds of the peoples of the world
go to bed hungry at night. They are undernourished,
The Independence Of The Judiciary
Introduction
The independence of the judiciary is based on the doctrine of separation of powers
which talks about the separation of power between the legislature, executive and the
judiciary which means that function of judicial system of country should be
independent from the executive, the legislature and from political pressure of
country. Originating in the writings of the French philosopher Montesquieu and the
American statesmen Madison , the notion of separation of powers stems from the
belief that the best way to control government power is to divide it among the various
branches of government the legislative, executive and judicial branches (Motala,
1995: 506). The three branches of government must be functionally separate and
refrain from interfering with the functions of one another. TAs per the doctrine of
separation of power all the three Executive, Legislation, and Judiciary should work
independently and should not encroach on function of each other. Judiciary should
be free from the influence of the executive so that justice can be provided to the
aggrieved parties. Executive should not interfere or exercise con¬trol over the
working of courts.
Independence of the Judiciary is the sine qua non of democracy. The purpose of
democracy is not served merely by getting laws enacted by democratically constituted
bodies. Machinery for the just interpretation of laws thus enacted is exceedingly
necessary. An independent judiciary alone can fulfill this task. With
Critical Criticism Of Frankenstein
In Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, one major critical theory
revolves around PsychoAnalytic criticism. The novel revolves around this critical
theory because in Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein, a scientist, rejecting old
fashioned theories and credulity, begins to research and makes a gigantic human
structure monster and gives him life. However, his invention goes wrong as the
monster behaves uncontrollably and bringing deaths and destroying Victor and
his family and many other people. As a result, Victor faces core issues, great
anxiety, and deaths of his beloved ones. This critical theory will be expressed
throughout the literary analysis paper, specifically in the Novel summary section,
and Literary criticism sections. PsychoAnalytic criticism relates to the novel
because Victor faces a lot of depression and feels guilty of himself after the monster
brings deaths and devastation in his life because he was the one to create the
monster. The novel starts with narrator Robert Walton, a scientist and explorer
who is on a voyage in the sea and sends letters to his sister, Mrs. Margaret Saville
who is married about his voyage, goals, thoughts and other stuff. He is the Captain
of the ship and wants to discover the north pole and discover things and see places
that no one has found and seen before. Through letters, he informs that he is fine,
describes the weather which is cold and shows his love toward Margaret. He states
how he educated himself and how
The Schools And Public Schools Essay
For children from birth to 5 years of age (Early Years) the childcare centres are
usually community or trust schools, these are mostly run by the school governing
body or by a charitable foundation. Children from the ages of 5 to 16 are entitled to a
free place at state school. The different categories of schools are:
Community schools run by the local authorities, which as owners of the land and
buildings are responsible for upkeep etc. The local authorities are also responsible
for the admissions and they decide who is eligible.
Voluntary Aided Schools or Faith Schools, this kind of school is associated with a
particular religion where the land and buildings belong to a charity or religious
organisation, it can be partly funded by a governing body, by the local authorities or
by charities. The national curriculum must be followed except for the religion
lessons and it is possible that this type of school has a strict staffing policy and
admission criteria but anyone can apply.
Academies are publicly funded schools where the money for the land, buildings and
funding is jointly raised by sponsors from businesses. They are independently
managed schools but have close links with the Local Education authority and the
government covers running costs. Independent schools set out their own curriculum
which together with the admission policies are decided by the Head Teacher and the
governors. These schools are funded privately by parents and investment incomes,
half of which have

A Wrinkle In Time is the story of Meg Murry, a high school girl who goes on an
adventure between dimensions with her younger brother Charles Wallace and

and obedience without any resistance. At the end of the book the children have

back to Camazotz alone to save her brother, using something that she has the IT

We Wear The Mask Betrayal
Deceit, Betrayal, and Resentment When going through life, individuals are put into
difficult and stressful situations. To get out of this predicament, the individual
would resort to using deceptive and deceitful behavior which would ultimately lead
to betrayal. In the words of Paul Laurence Dunbar in the poem We Wear the Mask,
he believes We wear the mask that grins and lies, / ... This debt we pay to human
guile; (534: lines 1 3). This means that people hide his or her true emotions to
disguise what they are feeling. In the short story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte
Perkins Gilman, the narrator throughout the story always hide what she was truly
feeling from her husband John and sister in law Jennie. Since during that time period

In Gilman s short story the first symbol that occurs is the yellow wallpaper. When
the narrator entered the nursery where she was going to reside for the rest of her
stay, she states that the windows are barred and the yellow on the walls were both
flamboyant and lame (78). This is a representation of herself. She feels confined to
the sanctions of what society thinks a woman in that time period should do, hence
the barred windows. The yellow wall color represents her personality. She is a
person who has a very intricate and has a lot of original ideas but this side of her is
masked by the fact that she is a woman who cannot express herself to her full
potential. This symbol helps to move the story forward because it helps express
her individuality and a person she could be. On the other hand, in Poe s literary
work Montresor is described in a unique way. Poe wrote Thus speaking, Fortunato
possessed himself on my arm. Putting on a mask of black silk, and drawing a
roquelaire closely about my person, I suffered him to hurry me to my palazzo (15).
This quotation is describing the attire Montresor is wearing, which the author took
time to explain showing its significance. Montresor is portrayed wearing a black
mask with a cloak, which one can assume is black as well. Montresor is
1950s Popular Culture
When World War II ended most countries began to progress and prosper. Of these
many countries, the United States was ready to take on new challenges that lied
ahead and eventually become one of the most powerful countries on Earth. Popular
Culture and Mass Media had a tremendous impact on people s lives during the 1950 s
which shaped the way that the United States is today. Popular culture and mass media
affected the television, the average American family, teenagers, and people
involved in the red scare. During the 1950 s the television was making its way into
almost everyone s life. The television was not very popular at first until the price
went down and more people purchased it for their homes (McCormack 1). One
source says, By 1962... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The television had a remarkable role in the 1952 election, which was Dwight D.
Eisenhower against Adlai E. Stevenson (Parker 1). For example Richard Nixon,
Dwight D. Eisenhower s vice president, was accused of mishandling funds, but he
was able to cover up his mistakes by giving a televised speech that shifted the focus
away from his mistake to his dog Checkers (Parker 1). This allowed for Richard
Nixon to easily reach out to the majority of voters and convince them that they
should still vote for Eisenhower. Another example of the usage of television in the
1952 election was the tactic of the candidates campaigning with their wives (Parker
1). Joel Parker writes, both Eisenhower and Nixon campaigned very visibly with
their wives ... while Stevenson was vulnerable on this front due to his status as a
divorcГ© (Parker 1). Eisenhower and Nixon both used this advantage to campaign in
a more family friendly style which could be visible almost every time they appeared
on television (Parker 1). This intelligent approach that Eisenhower and Nixon took on
television ultimately led to Eisenhower becoming the 34th president of the United
Theories Of The Mary Celeste
It is a century old mystery that is surrounded with controversy. What happened to The
Mary Celeste? This historical mystery has many theories surrounding what happened
to Captain Briggs and crew. Some more accurate than others like mother nature,
criminal conspiracies and, an explosion. However, the most likely of all the theories
is the alcohol explosion.
The alcohol explosion is the most realistic scenario of what happened to The Mary
Celeste. The Mary Celeste was carrying nine barrels of alcohol, which the barrels
were made of red oak not white oak. This could be a reason why the barrels were
found empty. The reason is red oaks are more porous, which leads to a slow
leakage through them. This creates alcohol vapor in the hold. Along with the
barrels being red oak, the barrels were tied together with steel bands. All the bands
had to do was rub together to cause friction and let off a spark which would create
an explosion. So when captain Briggs heard or saw the start of the explosion, he
would order everybody into the lifeboat. But some may wonder why they couldn t
get back to the boat with the rope that connects the lifeboat to the boat. Well they
may have been in such a frantic that they were not able to tie the lifeboat to the boat
or their rope broke and they were whisked away by mother nature. The only thing that
doesn t confirm this theory is that when the boat was found there were no burn marks.
This would suggest that there was no explosion. However, this is the

Tap Water Hypothesis
Overall, the results mainly do support the original hypothesis. Throughout the 8 days
of experiment, there was no lead, bacteria, or sodium detected by the test kits or the
test strips that were used in any of the waters of the water bottle brands and tap water
in both environments thus proving the hypothesisthat was originally posed, correct.
This was the same for the tap water from Quincy, Massachusetts in both
environments, thus not supporting the original hypothesis of the belief of traces of
lead or bacteria in the tap water of Quincy. However, the original pH estimates for the
different types of water were not correct. The hypothesis about how pH balance
would decrease in the cooler environment and increase in the warmer environment...

A color code was used to tell what the pH of the water was. For example, if the pH
was 6, the pH test paper would turn into the color yellow, and if the pH was 7, the
pH test paper would be a light green. Identifying the pH based on color could have
slight human error as the pH could actually be 6.8, but when the pH of the water
was tested, it could have been seen as a light green instead of a darker yellow
green, thus the pH would be identified as 7 instead of the proper 6.8. Another issue
that could ve been caused from human error was that when measuring the amount of
water by using a graduated cylinder, it could ve been measured a slight bit off.
Originally, the amount of water that was used for testing was 25mL. However, when
measuring the amount of water, the water could ve been 24.9 mL instead of 25mL
due to the miniscus being formed and where the meniscus was believed to be. This
would cause the amount of water being tested not the same for all the types of waters.
Another issue that could ve affected the result was that the refrigerator that held the
test tubes that were in the cooler environment was frequently

Cinematic Conventions In Jane Campion s Bright Star
Jane Campion s Bright Star (2009) is a film critically acclaimed for its use of
cinematic conventions, winning an array of awards such as the 2010 Australian Film
Industry awards for Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Best Costume
Design. Campion utilises such conventions as these to facilitate her exploration of the
relationship between Bright Star s characters, creating a filmthat, according to The
Observer s Critic of the Year Philip French, is in a different class.
Janet Patterson, costume designer for Bright Star, expertly utilises costume to
illustrate costume to display changes in relationships between characters throughout
the three year timeframe this film captures. Contrast between two different styles of

Fanny Brawne notably is presented initially in bright and youthful clothing that is
similar to that of her sister Toots. The opening scene of the film presents both Fanny
and Toots dressed in near matching white dresses, and both sisters wear bonnets upon
their heads. Such presentation of the Brawne sisters is indicative symbolically of the
closeness in their relationship that stems predominately from their shared youth and
maturity. Patterson creates a contrast to this presentation as eventually Fanny
increasingly dresses similarly to her mother as she matures, finding herself more akin
to an adult than to Toots, who, lacking the experience of falling in love with a
terminally ill man such as Keats, retains more childlike qualities. Upon the near end
of the film this costume alteration is apparent, particularly within the scene where
Mrs Brawne comforts her distraught daughter after she hears the news of Keats death.

Empress Wu Power
All throughout history and in different regions of the world, ambitious female
rulers have discovered that their greatest challenge was to overcome society s
negative perception of women gaining power. As did all rulers, female leaders also
had to overcome obstacles in times of political disorder in order to gain power. The
theme of a femaleruler s ability to overcome challenges in times of political turmoil
has manifested similarly and differently in the rule of Chinese Empress Wu and
England s Queen Elizabeth I. The megalomaniacal Empress Wu has garnered sizable
attention for being the first and only empress of Chinaand for her devious methods to

In 2002, Hilary Clinton was one of the senators who voted for the war in Iraq that
resulted in the capture and execution of Saddam Hussein. Clinton s support of the
war stemmed from intelligence that Hussein was building nuclear weapons,
biological weapons, improving missile technology, and assisting and housing al
Qaeda members. Clinton saw Hussein as a further threat to the turmoil in the
Middle East and potentially to safety of the United States and wanted him, as did
many, to be removed from power. As a result, the war resulted in a death toll of six
hundred thousand people and toppled the dictatorial government to create a federal
parliamentary republic. It also assured Americans that the Iraqi government didn t
hold weapons of destructions. The war also provided security to Americans that
Hussein was killed, who was a powerful supporter of al Qaeda, the group that was
responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Clinton s vote in the conflict has negatively
impacted her presidential campaign with often criticism of her decision by the
public and other candidates because of the war s death toll and lack of plan for the
future of Iraq. Clinton s vote is similar in the way Queen Elizabeth and Empress Wu
utilized violence to control turbulent times. Similarly, Queen Elizabeth executed

The Core
Sometimes movies appear to be very scientific but in reality are complete opposite.
Does that necessarily make it bad movie? That is a personal opinion, but to me
personally I can t really get behind a scientific movie that isn t backed up by
science. The Core written by John Rogers and Cooper Layne and directed by Jon
Amiel, is one of the worst movies if you are comparing the movie details to
scientific facts. In the following paragraphs and pages I will compare the movie to
scientific facts, to show how inaccurate the film really is.
So the whole movie is based off that the idea that the earth s core is going to stop
spinning which causes the earth to have terrible disasters, so a team of scientists
have to travel to the center of the earth to bomb it. In the movie it says the earths
magnetic field is caused by the earths spinning outer layer which is true however it
does not spin in one direction, it spins in very complicated circuits. The problem in
the movie is that earths outer layer of the core all of a sudden stops and it never
gives a reason as of why it stops. In order for this layer of the core stop an enormous
force would have to have a great impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That right there tells just how silly the idea of that really is. As if that wasn t bad
enough it gets worse. The character in the mvoie who has to travel to set this bomb

hole in the ship, even though the hole is not very large. The pressure and heat the
ship is in would cause the outside material to flow into the ship with an explosive

both stood glancing back and forth between his massive pile and the small plane.
When we made eye contact, we both burst out laughing. Obviously, we had way
too much to put in the plane. In addition to sheer volume, we needed to be
concerned with Weight and Balance; in other words, total weight and how it s
distributed in relation to the airplane s center of gravity. My weight, Miguel s

Online Failure Forecast For Fault Tolerant Data Stream...
Chapter 5 Online Failure Forecast for Fault Tolerant Data Stream Processing 5.1
Introduction 5.1.1 Historical background of Failure management in Data Stream
Processing In the recent times Data Stream Management Systems (DSMSs) have
been developed to support critical applications that must quickly and continuously
process data as soon as it becomes available. A few of the example applications
include financial stream analysis and network intrusion detection. Fault tolerance and
high availability are the most important for these applications because faults can lead
to losses that are quantifiable. Therefore a DSMS must be equipped with fault
tolerance techniques to handle both node and network failures in order to support
such applications. All of the basic techniques that help to cope with failures involve
some kind of replication. Typically the state of a system s computation is replicated
onto independently failing nodes. The system should then coordinate with the
replicas for accurate recovery from failures. Fault tolerant techniques are most usually
designed to tolerate up to a pre defined number, say k, of simultaneous failures. If
such methods are used, the system is then said to be k fault tolerant. Replication and
coordination have 2 general approaches. Both approaches rely on the assumption that
computation can be modeled as a deterministic state machine. The implication of this
assumption is that two non faulty computations that receive the same input in the
Christianity Came Earlier to Britain and to Beowulf Essay
Christianity Came Earlier to Britain and to Beowulf Christian references/allusions

express erroneous notions regarding the arrival of Christianity into Britain. Janet
Backhouse in her book The Lindisfarne Gospels, says that these gospels, written
about 700AD, were made in north east England less than a century after the
introduction there of Christianity (Backhouse 7). Her view of dating Christianity in
Britain to the time of Pope Gregory the Great in the 590 s is a popularly held
misconception. The truth of the matter is that Christianity, which later Christianized
Beowulf, arrived into Britain very many years earlier than this. The... Show more

This seems reasonable according to what is written by the historian Eusebius
Pamphilus, bishop of Caesarea, in His Ecclesiastical History written in the 300 s.
The Ecclesiastical History is a history of the primitive church from the time of the
apostles until the 300 s when Eusebius died. Eusebius quotes the then existent
works of earlier writers like the Jewish historian Josephus, the philosopher Philo,
Clement, Papias, and church writers like Dionysius of Corinth and Caius who
lived before the year 100. In Book2, chapter14 of the Ecclesiastical History
Eusebius recounts how the anti Christian Simon Magus encountered Peter the
apostle in Rome: He [Simon Magus] undertook a great journey from the East
across the sea and fled to the West, thinking that this was the only way for him to
live according to his mind. Entering the city of Rome, by the cooperation of that
malignant spirit which had fixed its seat there, his attempts were soon so far
successful as to be honored as a god with the erection of a statue by the inhabitants
of that city. This, however, did not continue long; immediately under the reign of
Claudius, by the benign and gracious providence of God, Peter, that powerful and
great apostle, who by his courage took the lead of all the rest, was conducted to
Rome against this pest of mankind. He, like a noble commander of God fortified

The Job Requirements And Importance Of Librarians
The job requirements and importance of librarians
The whole point to the human race is to reproduce and to become civilized is the
ultimate human goal. Libraries are needed in our society as a quiet place to study
and learn the knowledge needed to succeed in the future. Libraries are the structure
of our society, they are the home to countless books and even more knowledge.
Some may say that libraries and, therefore librarians, aren t needed because children
do most of their learning in schools instead of in libraries. Which is a valid point but
most english classes ask students to visit libraries in order to read books that are

Librarians are actually quite qualified to teach classes and handle the responsibilities

usually takes one to two years to complete an MLS program and all MLS programs
include computer related coursework. A PhD can help one get a teaching position

Comparing Horses And Men In Rain
It falls into the dry land and replenish it back to life and serves it s job to clean and
purify life. Drizzling or pouring, rain is why humans are surviving, but some seem
to think otherwise. In the poems, Horses and Men in Rain and The Rainy Day show
two different perspectives of how people view rain. Although rainis needed in our
world to survive, humans interpret the dark and gloomy weatherin many ways.
To many, rain is stunning to witness, how the sky can change its color like one can
change their mood in a split of a second. In the poem Horses and Men in Rain by
Carl Sandburg, it shows the many bright aspects of the dark sky. This type of
weather is where people want to stay home and be with someone they love, cozied

To other individuals, once they witness a dark cloud rolling into the sky, a dark
cloud rolls into their minds as well. Sometimes human s feelings and moods seem
to want to match with the condition it is outside. The day is cold, and dark, and
dreary The poet also uses these exact words for the second stanza, but to describe
the person s life, My life is cold, and dark, and dreary. This signals that the
individual is comparing their life to the rainy weather. The poet describes the rain
from a pessimistic point of view, unlike the first poem. The poem also shows how
life can change just like the weather. It is revealed to be this way in the last stanza
as the person talks about how the sun is always there even when the cloud is
covering it. Into each life some rain must fall, Some days must be dark and dreary

Is it a purely financial venture or do you envisage yourself as being in charge of
your own little kingdom? Doing something useful and productive in the community
can often provide a motive but the figures need to stack up and you must never let

Make Sure your Desirable Dream Home
Personality Tags for Birth Order
Is there a personality tag for each child, depending on their birth order? Does the
family size, or even the parents life styles, affect anything? Birth order is more than
just an old wives tale about predicting the personalities of each child in every
family. Birth order, put in its proper context, is a key that can unlock personalities
and give you a new perspective on human nature. (First born?,1). Every child of every
familyhas a personality tag, just because of their spot on the immediate family tree.
Family size and birth orderare factors that make the personality tag for the first
born, middle child, last born, and only child of each family. Family size affects
every child s personality. Birth order and family size are linked together. For
example, if there are two children in a family, there is a 50% chance of being the
first born. Families with five children give each child a 20% chance of being the
first born child. Every child has a chance at being the first born, but the larger the
family, the lower the chance. Speaking of lower chances, there are fewer resources
as well. If a family has many children, parental resources are spread thinly; for
example, money, time, and attention. Ethnicity, wealth, education, and other social
factors of parents also affect the family size. But, parents that are better educated,
comfortable, and wealthier, usually have fewer children, so does this mean these
children have more resources? The answer is yes. These

Though his possessions were luxurious and plentiful, he loses everything as his
empire spins out of control, ending up in jail and possession less. Though Belfort
had bad intentions in his work life, his greed and selfishness were most evident in
a scene in the film where he endangers the lives of his friends and wife, demanding
to sail to Monaco though the captain advised against it due to rough chop. Belfort
slyly convinces all on board to sail despite the danger in order to save a fraction of
his riches in a Swiss bank, and consequently his yacht capsizes and he loses his
prized possessions, nearly killing himself and his loved ones. After being rescued by
the Italian Navy, Jordan finally realizes that he needs to reform his life if he wants to
live much longer, and states You wanna sign from God, after all this, I finally got the
message. . Jordan and Lot are identical in terms of poor intentions leading them from
lives of riches to ones of nothingness, while conversely Abraham a life of nothingness
to one full of divine fortune, further supporting that intentions undoubtedly connect
with results. Thus, in both the Abraham Saga and The Wolf of Wall Street, its
apparent that greed and bad intentions lead to poor situations, and good intentions to
positive outcomes; implying that the message both authors are trying to convey is
that those who are genuinely good will be blessed with true fortune and wealth, thus
prompting the questioning of what it means to truly live a good
The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth
The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being
used in space age technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices
have also become a part of our daily lives today. However, many people are sceptical
about the use of these handy devices. Many people claim that they will face data
privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement is true? Do
others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that
the person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the
concerned individual.
With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen
security aspects, the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many
families and business owners have started to trust the system and are applying it in
different ways. In fact, these applications have made its way into animal tracking,
farming and even gaming technology. Animal tracking helps in monitoring
endangered species and their behaviour in such way, so they and their habitat can be

The Mona Lis The Identity Of The Individual Essay
The Mona Lisa remains as probably the most famous and most valuable piece of
artwork of all times. It is widely viewed as one of the finest illustration of portrait
work done during the Italian Renaissance. The Mona Lisa was one of the first pieces
of art that I remember looking at in my elementary art class. Leonardo Da Vinci, a
famous Italian artist, created the piece. It is currently held at a museum in Paris,
France. It is believed Leonardo worked on the oil painting during the early 1500 s.
The identity of the individual featured in the portrait has, over the years, sparked
debate all over the world; some even claim it is Leonardo Da Vinci himself. The
identity of the individual, however, is believed to be Lisa del Giocondo. There has
also been debate surrounding the message passed in the painting as it is somewhat
difficult to read the expression on Lisa s face. The Mona Lisadepicts the image of a
female subject sitting upright and tilted sideways. The face and the chest of the
subject are slightly turned to face the viewer. The individual s right arm comes
across the body and rest on top of her left arm. The left arm is resting on the armrest
of the chair she is sitting in. The portrait has a background with a landscape depicting
a vanishing point. The landscape has an imbalance between a rocky horizon that is
high and a flat land stretching all the way from the left. The imbalance in the
background landscape clearly brings out the fantastic atmosphere of the
Community Reflection Paper
I recently had the privilege of spending a week with a community called Furaha
Community Center that provides education, social services, and community action
efforts within a slum community called Haruma located in Nairobi, Kenya. The
community of Haruma has roughly 500,000 people living in the equivalent of 12
square blocks. The communitysuffers from poor sanitation, rampant disease, and
violence. Furaha Community Center serves the poorest and the sickest of the
community in efforts to provide food, education, micro loans, and social services.
The community is defined by some outsiders as poor, sick, dirty, lazy, disease
ridden, gang infested, violent, sexually deviant, uneducated (education is not free
in Kenya so many families cannot afford to send their children to school) and
beyond hope. Although some of these descriptors are partially true, I found the
community to be generous, supportive, hard working, resilient, and joyful. To live
in Haruma and be a member of the community you have a difficult life. Tribal
hierarchy defines your ability to obtain opportunities to better yourself. Religion is a
source of comfort, but is also used by some religious leaders as a way gain power and
influence over the desperate. Most people work as day laborers and live day to day.
They often do not eat every day because they cannot find work. Fires, building
collapses, gang activity, and violence are a part of everyday life. Diseases spread
rapidly while no medical care
Living Green Persuasive
A Persuasive Essay on Ecology: Live Green!
The alarm clock screams in your ear, and you begin your day with a deep breath.
You make your way to the bathroom to turn your shower on so that you will have
hot water. While waiting, you go into the main room of the house and turn your
heat on so that after your shower you will be greeted with warm air in defense from
a cold winter. Your finally ready for the day, you have eaten your breakfast, and ran
out the door. The engine rumbles in the car and you drive straight to work. This is a
normal morning for most Americans, and sadly just this one morning plus the many
others, impacts the environment, future generations, wildlife, and our health in a
dramatically negative way. Living green, will preserve our planet for future
generations, sustain nature and wildlife, keep our bodies healthy, but it can also save
you money. Living green encompasses the following conserving energy, eating smart,
saving water, and of course recycling! Having your alarm clock plugged on all night,
leaving the heat on, and heating your water, along with many other activities is
wasting our energy. We only have a limited source of energy, and it will deplete one
day. When it runs out, it will take millions of years to form again. Not only that, but
it causes air and water pollution, acid rain, global warming, oil spills, loss of
wilderness areas, and risk of international conflict over energy supplies. The primary
effect of over using energy is our
Education And The Childcare Act
Since the government brought Every Child Matters and the Childcare Act 2006,
every child between 3 and 4 years old is entitled to have 15 hours of free early
yearsâ€TM education, over 38 weeks in the year. The entitlement is funded by
government via local authorities. The idea behind this is to make sure all children
have equal opportunities to education regardless of their social status. Also their
parents donâ€TMt have to pay for that 15 hours a week. Children will be learning
through play. For example, children will be learning to count to 10 through nursery
rhyme and role play or they will be learning the names of the colours through
painting. Although there is some literacy targets included within Early Years

The state schools all follow National Curriculum and are inspected by OFSTED.
The differences between the state schools are in the way they are managed.
Although they get government money to some extent, how they spending it, it
depends on what type of school they are. For instance, most voluntary aided
schools are faith schools and the governing body of faith school is linked to a
particular faith or religion. The building or land of the school might be owned by
religious charity or church. They may also have assemblies in school to promote
that particular faith or religious. There are some types of schools that are not funded
by local authorises. These are known as †̃independent schoolsâ€TM and
†̃academiesâ€TM. Below is the list of different type of schools in UK:
Foundation schools These types of schools have governing body and their
admission policy is agreed with local authority. Their building or land usually owned
by governing bode or charitable foundation. Support services are budgeted for and
brought in. Trust schools They are similar to Foundation schools, but they are
different slightly that form a charitable Trust with an outside partner, like a charity or
college. Instead of having their own charitable Trust, they get help from outsider.
Like Foundation schools, support services are brought in school. Community schools
This type of schools are run and owned by local education authority and the support
services are provided by local authority.
Collegiate Athletic Culture
The wisdom and precise role of collegiate athletic programs within a university has
provided major discussion topics for faculty and university administrators throughout
the last century. Collegiate athletics plays an essential part of a university and the
community that are within the area of the university. Collegiate athletics bring an
enthusiastic sports culture that is seen as a way to bring the universityand community
together as a family. However, not all universities find themselves in a situation where
their student bodies and communities are coming together to support the athletic
events. Southern Illinois University (SIU), located in Carbondale, Illinois, lack the
sport culture that one traditionally associated with a power five... Show more content

An alarming trend has started to show over the last five years, where student
attendance at college athletics has been declining. Fewer students are starting to not
show up to home games and even more students are beginning to leave early.
According to a study conducted by the Wall Street Journal, the average student
attendance at college football games has dropped by 7.1 percent since 2009. The
drop of student attendance is extremely unsettling for universities and most
importantly college athletic departments for several reasons to name a few; less
chances of developing new fans, lower amounts of concession stand purchases, and
fewer merchandise sales. Current students are also relied upon as alumni to be future
season ticket holders which is a key driver for collegiate athletics business models.
Along with the business aspect of students attending athletic events, college
administrators and coaches are alarmed in the decline of attendance because the noisy
students help gives their team that home field advantage that is such aspect that helps

My First Bike Research Paper
My First Bike One Tuesday morning, I woke up, but it wasn t like any other
morning. It felt like I was floating on clouds, like I wasn t even in reality. I got up
to put on my pink zebra print footie pajamas. I started my way to the kitchen to eat
breakfast, and that s when I saw it. It was pink and red, with strawberry shortcake
stickers covering it. The seat had little red strawberries on it. It was right in front of
the christmastree that was almost concealed in baby pictures and ornaments we ve
made in school. My two brothers didn t seem to forget it was Christmas as I did, they
had already opened most of their presents when I was just barely waking up. I opened
all of my other presents before I went to grab my bike. The bike was the
Capital Punishment Is The Sanctioned Practice
Committee Name: 6th legal
Committee Topic: Capital Punishment
Country Name: Nigeria BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE TOPIC
Capital Punishment is the sanctioned practice that puts someone to death in response
to crimes. There are many and varied types of execution used around the world today,
including: beheading, electrocution, hanging, lethal injection, shooting in the back of
the head, and by firing squad. People have been working to end executions since
1977, when only 16 countries had abolished the death penalty in law or practice.
Today, the number has risen to 140 nearly two thirds of countries around the world.
Nearly 90% of these happened in just three countries: Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
But these figures exclude China, where numbers remain a state secret. Many
countries around the world continue to hide their practices of capital punishment, for
example Iran continues to execute juvenile offenders those aged under 18 at the time
of the alleged crime in violation of international law. Along with Maldives and
Pakistan, it also sentenced juvenile offenders to death in 2015. Countries continued to
flout other aspects of international law, putting to death people with mental or
intellectual disabilities, as well as those charged with non lethal crimes. Apart from
drug related offences, people were executed for crimes such as adultery, blasphemy,
corruption, kidnapping and questioning the leader s policies . The amount of death
due to capital punishment has
Symbolism And Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The
Awakening
A key aspect in writing an interesting story is having symbolism. It allows the
reader to dive just a little bit deeper into the meaning and core of the work. Birds
are a fairly common symbol, serving as representations of freedom, breaking free,
and not afraid to be loud or to speak their minds. In Kate Chopin s novella, The
Awakening, birds are used to show Edna s true feelings and desires, to explain the
courage required to defy the standards, and to show Edna s final defeat. Many
animals, especially birds, seem to communicate in a language that only they can
really understand. The novella starts by setting a scene with the description of two
birds who do exactly that. Chopin begins by stating, A green and yellow parrot,
which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: Allez vous en!
Allez vous en! Sapristi! That s all right! He could speak a little Spanish, and also a
language which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking birdthat hung on the
other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with
maddening persistence (Chopin 1). The green and yellow parrot represents Edna
Pontellier. She feels as if she is stuck in a golden cage with only one other being
who understands her. She has always had food on her plate and her husband
provides a stable income and life for her. The mocking bird represents Mademoiselle
Reisz, because she is the only other being who understands what Edna, or the parrot,
is feeling and wanting to

Adhesive Patch Test
Melanoma diagnoses are solely dependent on visual assessment of pigmented
lesions, which leaves a margin of error when deciding lesions to biopsy; in turn,
this leads to many invasive biopsies yielding negative results (Ferris et al., 2017).
This wastes valuable resources: money, dermatologists time, pathologists fees
(Gerami et al., 2017). The purpose of my research was to test the effects of a non
invasive adhesive patch test in improving melanoma diagnoses. My research question
was: How does the use of DermTech non invasive adhesive patch test impact overall
melanoma diagnosis in a dermatology clinic? My alternative hypothesiswas that the
DermTech noninvasive adhesive patch test would improve diagnosis. My null
hypothesiswas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, measuring quantitative statistics of negative invasive biopsies was an
appropriate method. I also assumed that there are no other changing factors in the
clinic that impact melanoma diagnosis. This lowered the external validity of my
research and made it harder to generalize it to other clinics, in other parts of the
world. Although, the DermTech adhesive patch test claims to work for all abnormal
/atypical skin lesions (Gerami et al., 2017), I only studied melanoma due to the
limited number of patients at my clinic.
For my research sub question, I compared the results of patients that had lesions
biopsied and had the DermTech test performed on the same lesion. I assumed that the
invasive biopsy always yielded correct results because the noninvasive DermTech was
compared against it. I also had to assume that the any results coming from the
DermTech lab that claim to be indecisive were negative since they have no utility in
the diagnosing procedure.
My external validity was low since I only had access to one pathology lab and one
dermatology clinic. Furthermore, the clinic only had one dermatologist whose
diagnoses I measured. The dermatologist did not account for all age groups, levels of
experience etc.
My research had high internal validity since the same dermatologist and nurses
remained constant throughout the course of the data that I collected. There have also
been no other changes in
Compare And Contrast Seminoles And Florida Crackers
The Battle of the Floridians: Florida Cracker vs Florida Seminoles You are riding
in your car to Disney, but did you know that the road you are taking the Florida
Crackers drove on the exact same road to herd cattle. The Florida Crackers and the
Florida Seminoles are two groups that lived in Florida in the 1800s. These two
groups lived somewhat similar lives. Even though these two groups are self
sufficient and reliable , Florida Cracker and Florida Seminoles each led unique lives.
The Florida Crackers and the Seminole Indians definitely had some cultural
differences. The Florida Crackers only spoke one language, while the Florida
Seminoles spoke two to three different languages. The Crackers are named after the
sound of the whip, that
Plan B One Step Emergency Contraceptive
Plan B One Step emergency contraceptive is a well known form of last minute birth
control among women. It is used as a back up plan if birth control fails or
unprotected sex is had without birth control. The product itself is controversial
because it is considered a form of abortion by many people. This ad was found in
People magazine, a gossip/tabloid magazine commonly found near the registers at
grocery stores, supermarkets and other various convenience stores. Glancing over
the page, it seems harmless enough and like a good thing for those who need it.
Upon further analyzing, this advertisement shows the pressure put upon girls in
America and the problem of lack of proper sexual education. The advertisement
itself takes up a whole page in the magazine. The model posing is in a bedroom,
sitting on the bed with a facial expression like she just accidentally forgot
something or dropped something not necessarily important. She looks to be in her
late teens or early twenties which leads me to believe that is the age group this
advertisement is aimed at. The main caption is Hey, nobody s perfect in two
feminine, almost casual fonts and the word perfect is designed to stand out. There
is also a picture in the bottom right hand corner of the box for Plan B which is said
to be for the perfectly imperfect underneath the picture. The bottom left hand corner
has the fine print along with the larger phrase Millions of Women Have Already
Chosen Plan B One Step . The
As Frederick Douglass Narrates His Story Throughout This
As Frederick Douglass narrates his story throughout this book, he talks a great
deal about what happened to him as a child all the way to his adult life as being a
slave in the United States. We all know that slavery is wrong and disgusting but the
things I ve read opened up my mind to how a slave would feel. The pain of the
whippings, cruelity and starvation is something we might not know exactly but the
story behind it is worth understanding. The expriences and obstacles that he went
through is what made him to be the man that is he today. It shows his point of view
of what a slave would go through and to even being treated as if they weren t even
human themselves. The slaves in the United States didn t have a age limit. From the...

Slaveholders would often use a woman for a breeder. The Master would either sleep
with the woman of color or he would hire another man to breed children with her.
Every children that she has given brith to is not another addition to the family but
instead only to add onto the wealth of the Master. The more children there is the
more slaves they will have to work for them. They were made just so others can
earn money from them too and having more to trade is just exactly what they want.
The children will then be raised to work in the plantations for their entire lives. She
was nevertheless left a slave a slave for life a slave in the hands of strangers; and in
their hands she saw her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren,
divided, like so many sheep, without being gratified with the small priviledge of a
single word, as to their or her own destiny. This quote is what Frederick describes
his grandmother as saying that she has done a lot for her Master by giving him a
lot of fortune through population of children. To be born in a world where you
already have a difficult future in set for you is a cruel thing to do and it must also
be for the mother who is letting their children enter in a world like that. It will not
only affect them physically but also emotionally for the rest of their lives. In the
beginning of the book, Frederick talks about a horrible situation that he experienced
Management Executive Summary
1.Executive Summary
A comfortable atmosphere provides a place where the customer can work, meet,
relax or enjoy a healthy choice of bread. Freshly brewed coffee, expresso drinks,
frozen coffee drinks, specialty teas and other beverages, along with assorted bakery,
lunch and desert items make this a place to go and relax anytime of the day.
2.Current Situation Barriers to Entry
The major barrier to entry for a specialty bakery is the perception that healthy food
tastes worse than unhealthy food. Since the population that would shop exclusively
at a specialty bakery is very limited, it would be a huge disadvantage to exclude the
general population based on this negative public perception. Capital requirements
would also be a barrier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Issue Of Mounting Debt
The lack of sales and higher costs mentioned above led to the obvious internal issue
of mounting debt. It is so obvious we will only touch briefly enough on it to mention
that mounting debt to the tune of over $340,000,000, nearly half that owed to the
parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation, proved to be an insurmountable
mountain to scale (Szczesny, 2012). The last internal factor we will discuss is hardly
a negative aspect of Suzukis business, but it certainly fits the definition of an
internal factor that directly led to the decision to pull out of the States. This
internal factor is their success in other regions of the world. While market share in
the U.S. plummeted to well under 1%, Suzuki was doing quite well in other
regions. They were the leader in India, a country that accounted for 40% overall
sales in early 2012 (Hagiwara Hagiwara, 2012). Other emerging markets in
Southeast Asia were strongholds for the company as well, believed to be because
of the smaller frame of their cars. In markets used to suffocating small roads, these
small, inexpensive and durable cars were in high demand. And because of the
success in these non U.S. markets the decision became clearer, as there was an
alternative place to allocate resources. If other successful markets hadn t existed it is
easy to see how a decision to simply attempt to repair itself and compete in the U.S.
could have been justified.

No Real Verbal Love And Emotional Relationship
We need to be in Chicago around two in the morning , he said to me before every
trip. He liked to put on this big affirmative voice every time we he was trying to be
serious. He looked at me with his arms crossed and his jaw locked. Waiting.
Waiting for a verbal confirmation to come from my mouth. Yes. I d say in a
monotone voice it became a second nature to say yes each time we were traveling.
One of his brows would scrunch up, and a smirk would lay upon his mouth,
knowing I hated verbally conforming to him. He would walk into his room and he
would turn off the light. I would walk to mine as well, no words where said
between us. That is how it was between us for many years, no real verbal love just
mental or emotional. My father and I have always been on a mental and emotional
relationship. He was not the normalfather by any means, but we communicated in a
way no one else could understand.
To say we communicated in a way no one else could understand was correct.
Almost all of our conversations are not said verbally. When I first started high
school this was pretty evident, he was almost like any other father afraid that I
would grow up too fast in high school. So he sat me down at the table, I was at one
end he was at the other. You could hear our separate breathing. The clock began to
tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. The ticks got louder as the silence in the room got bigger.
His eyes held no emotion. I was not scared by any means. I looked up at him, the

Video Game Violence Essay. Research On Video Games and Violence - Free Essay Example PapersOwl.com

  • 1. Video Game Violence Essay Writing an essay on the topic of video game violence can be a challenging task that requires a nuanced approach. Firstly, delving into the complex relationship between video games and real- life aggression demands a thorough understanding of psychological and sociological perspectives. The literature on this subject is vast, encompassing studies that both support and challenge the notion that violent video games contribute to aggressive behavior. Constructing a coherent argument involves synthesizing conflicting research findings and presenting a balanced perspective. Addressing the potential impact of violent content on different age groups and considering cultural variations adds another layer of complexity to the task. Moreover, exploring the evolution of video game content, from pixelated graphics to realistic simulations, requires a historical perspective. On the other hand, dissecting the counterarguments that emphasize individual responsibility, parental guidance, and the lack of conclusive evidence demands critical thinking skills. Additionally, one must navigate the ongoing debate surrounding censorship, freedom of expression, and the role of the gaming industry in shaping content. Crafting a compelling essay also necessitates a strong thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the argument. Providing relevant examples and case studies to support claims adds credibility, but choosing these examples judiciously is crucial to avoid oversimplification. The conclusion must tie together diverse strands of information while leaving room for reflection. A well-rounded essay on video game violence should not only present information but also invite readers to ponder the broader implications for society, culture, and individual behavior. In summary, writing an essay on video game violence is challenging due to the need for a deep understanding of psychological, sociological, and cultural factors. It involves navigating conflicting research, addressing counterarguments, and exploring the evolution of gaming content. Crafting a nuanced argument requires critical thinking skills and the ability to present a balanced perspective. Ultimately, the complexity of the topic requires careful consideration and thorough research to produce a well-informed and compelling essay. If you find the task daunting or need assistance, various resources are available. • 2. Methods Of The Collection Of Aerosols Methods of the collection of aerosols for analysis Analysis of the composition of aerosols is very important for the development of many different industries and areas of study; however this analysis is challenging because aerosol particles can be difficult to collect.1 Aerosol particles can be collected onto a substrate and then analysed. The collection surface can be a porous medium such as a filter operating at a low flow rate whereby some or all of the particles suspended in the aerosol flow are retained. In many applications particles from the gas flow are extracted by an externally applied force e.g. in a centrifuge or electrostatic precipitator. The collection process should result in the sample taken being representative of the aerosol in its original state therefore it should not be chemically changed in the process. Characteristics such as mass, number concentration and size distribution of particles should remain unchanged however it is difficult to prevent these changes.2 Aerosols consist of solid or liquid particles in a gaseous medium; therefore the particles must be filtered and/or extracted into solution to prepare for chemical analysis. However carboxylic acid and carbonyl containing compounds present in aerosols react with commonly used organic solvents such as methanol over a timeframe of minutes to hours. Although an extraction solvent can be selected so that it does not react with the aerosol particles, the solvent used will be dependent on the
  • 3. Homophobia in American Beauty I watched the movie American Beauty a couple of days ago and saw how homophobia might be a sign that the homophobic might be a homosexual. So I though I d write about it. American Beauty centers on the last year of Lester Burnham s life. Lester Burnham, played by Kevin Spacey, is married to Carolyn Burnham, played by Annette Betting, and their marriage is picture perfect on the outside, but the perfection is only superficially. Their marriage is based on projecting one image a picture perfect suburbia lifestyle when it is in fact quite the opposite. Colonel Frank Fitts played by Chris Cooper, is the new neighbor who is presented as a homophobic man. He hates on and puts down the homosexual couple in the neighborhood constantly. So what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men fear humiliation or weakness because they always have to present everyone this image of being though, dominant and dependent; men despise anything that goes against these traditional views of masculinity. This traditional thoughts lead to homophobia. The media is constantly portraying men in a violent or dominant way in the movies, TV shows, etc. Asians are almost always portrayed as martial artist or violent criminals and Latinos as boxers, criminals or though gangsters. Ever since the Colonel moved in he shows this extreme disgust towards homosexuals around his neighborhood. He even shows this behavior towards his son Ricky when he becomes suspicious of his (Ricky s) relationship with Lester. Probably when the Colonel was growing up, being gay was the worse and he tried to hide it from his parents and thought the army might help straighten him out and got married to try to appear like a normal man. At the end of the movie Frank believes he sees his son taking money from Lester for sexual favors and this results in Ricky leaving the house. CastaГ±eda 3 The death of Lester Burnham is simply because he aroused his homophobic neighbor. Lester appears to be sexually available to men when he tells his neighbor: Our (Lester s and Carolyn s) marriage is just for show...a commercial for how normal we are, when we re anything but... He (Frank) attempts to kiss Lester, proving his hidden desire for men. In a quick recap of the film: new neighbors move into

Questionnaires: This will be an assessment where they will be anonymous. This will hopefully allow for the people who do not want to come forward to give their input on the subject without being identified. Interviews: By interviewing people who could possibly be involved and alumni who have taken similar course I should be able to identify areas that need major improvements along with areas that seemed to work well but might need slight improvement. I would address these concerns because the course this course will go further than just patient care we will talk about safety of the patient and the technologist along with how to communicate with patients and their concerns in regards to radiation and how to proceed with the procedure the doctor prescribed. 5. The learners would be anyone that is new to radiology and taking courses to achieve their license in this field. They will benefit by learning safety protocols for the patient and technologist, how effective communication is in the x ray room and how this communication can not only ease tension but can also help to produce a better exam. There is a lot to learn about people and in Radiology where you only have a short time to gain their trust and confidence this is necessary. 6. List of goals and topics: Communication: Give better insight on communicating with different nationalities and ages. Transferring patients: this can cause a lot of harm to both the patient and technologist if not done properly. We will be going over proper techniques and requirements to make sure this is done safely Safety: this goes along with the previous goal and also with protecting the technologist against what the patients may have contacted. This includes airborne and droplet precautions and needle/blood safety. 7. The type of curriculum that I want to approach these issues would be a basic lecture. Then move on to

  • 7. Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Oedipus The protagonists in the plays Hamlet and Oedipus Rex share a commonality in terms of serving justice for the death of their past king; however, in terms of free will, these princes are polar opposites. In the first instance, both protagonists differ greatly as a result of their fate, while Hamlet is given a task that he can choose to obey or dismiss, Oedipusis given a prophecy that forecasts how his life will go down. From this alone, it s clear how Hamlets destiny is in his hands, yet as for Oedipus, he will fulfill his prophecy whether he likes it or not. As a result of this, Hamlet is able to think and logically configure how to complete the task, however, Oedipus acts so impulsively that he is unable to think properly before acting. While Hamlet is able to conduct himself with such control that he can even trick others that his mad, Oedipus loses his mind and acts crazily and rashly. Since Hamlet is able to freely do his task, he is able to die honorably, while Oedipus could not feel satisfied with his actions because he did them unknowingly and unwillingly. Shakespeare s Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus appear to be similar because of their circumstances, but in terms of their struggle between fate and free will Hamlet is at an advantage. There is a substantial difference between being foretold what will happen and receiving a task, this difference comes into play when contrasting with the freedom Oedipus and Hamlet are given. In Oedipus case he is given a

We will further discuss what led to this situation, and give a recommendation on the changes that should have been made prior to the divestiture in 1984. 5. Pre Divestiture Business Risk As a consequence of the governments intervention, the AT T lawsuit settlement, as well as the shift in the telecommunication industry, it was clear that AT Ts local telecommunication business was slowly moving away from a monopoly franchise environment. It was moving towards a more competitive environment characterized with more consumer choice and greater competition. Companies such as IBM saw the divestiture of AT T as an opportunity to provide new telecommunication equipment and services, which would allow them to gain a higher market share. AT T s stock had up till then been regarded as a stable utility type stock because of its steady growth and consistent dividend yield. However, AT T should have kept in mind that they would not have as much market control in the future as they did prior the divestiture, much due to the intensifying competition and regulatory environment changes. Firstly, the antitrust lawsuit followed by a sudden divestiture could cause uncertainties towards the company s future and might change the shareholders perception of AT T in an unfortunate way. Second, the seven new corporations would be highly independent, and therefore a major rearrangement of the capital structure would be vital. It is likely
  • 9. Essay on George Washington Biography George Washington was born February 22, 1732. He was elected as the first president by the Electoral College unanimously in 1789. Washington is commonly called the Father of his country since he played a major role in fighting for independence and helped form the government we now have. Many of his leadership practices became the template for the way politics have proceeded following his terms. For example his use of a group of counselors known as a cabinet is still in practice today. He only served for two terms and then stepped down which became, for the most part, the accepted norm for future presidents. Some of his Revolutionary war battles include the siege at Boston, Valley Forge, the Battle of Brandywine, the Surrender at Yorktown, and the Battle of Long Island among others. Washington had a lengthy military career. He demonstrated his military leadership abilities early on during the siege at Boston. At Boston he blocked land access to the town and limited British supply missions from her naval assets. He then sent a man named Henry Knox to bring heavy artillery that had been captured from the British at Fort Ticonderoga to Boston. In a very difficult mission, Knox maneuvered many of their cannons to the area surrounding Boston in January 1776. In March 1776, these cannons were used to overlook

(Huxley 256) John ended up doing it and in the end he killed himself, he was different than everyone else, he saw things people didn t dare to see for themselves. In conclusion John was just an outsider, left alone, no one included him in things because he was different but at the same time he was just like everyone else. John was born like everyone else at the reservation but they still didn t accept him because of his family. All John had was his mother Linda. • 13. The Independence Of The Judiciary Introduction The independence of the judiciary is based on the doctrine of separation of powers which talks about the separation of power between the legislature, executive and the judiciary which means that function of judicial system of country should be independent from the executive, the legislature and from political pressure of country. Originating in the writings of the French philosopher Montesquieu and the American statesmen Madison , the notion of separation of powers stems from the belief that the best way to control government power is to divide it among the various branches of government the legislative, executive and judicial branches (Motala, 1995: 506). The three branches of government must be functionally separate and refrain from interfering with the functions of one another. TAs per the doctrine of separation of power all the three Executive, Legislation, and Judiciary should work independently and should not encroach on function of each other. Judiciary should be free from the influence of the executive so that justice can be provided to the aggrieved parties. Executive should not interfere or exercise conВ¬trol over the working of courts. Independence of the Judiciary is the sine qua non of democracy. The purpose of democracy is not served merely by getting laws enacted by democratically constituted bodies. Machinery for the just interpretation of laws thus enacted is exceedingly necessary. An independent judiciary alone can fulfill this task. With
  • 14. Critical Criticism Of Frankenstein In Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, one major critical theory revolves around PsychoAnalytic criticism. The novel revolves around this critical theory because in Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein, a scientist, rejecting old fashioned theories and credulity, begins to research and makes a gigantic human structure monster and gives him life. However, his invention goes wrong as the monster behaves uncontrollably and bringing deaths and destroying Victor and his family and many other people. As a result, Victor faces core issues, great anxiety, and deaths of his beloved ones. This critical theory will be expressed throughout the literary analysis paper, specifically in the Novel summary section, and Literary criticism sections. PsychoAnalytic criticism relates to the novel because Victor faces a lot of depression and feels guilty of himself after the monster brings deaths and devastation in his life because he was the one to create the monster. The novel starts with narrator Robert Walton, a scientist and explorer who is on a voyage in the sea and sends letters to his sister, Mrs. Margaret Saville who is married about his voyage, goals, thoughts and other stuff. He is the Captain of the ship and wants to discover the north pole and discover things and see places that no one has found and seen before. Through letters, he informs that he is fine, describes the weather which is cold and shows his love toward Margaret. He states how he educated himself and how

The Schools And Public Schools Essay For children from birth to 5 years of age (Early Years) the childcare centres are usually community or trust schools, these are mostly run by the school governing body or by a charitable foundation. Children from the ages of 5 to 16 are entitled to a free place at state school. The different categories of schools are: Community schools run by the local authorities, which as owners of the land and buildings are responsible for upkeep etc. The local authorities are also responsible for the admissions and they decide who is eligible. Voluntary Aided Schools or Faith Schools, this kind of school is associated with a particular religion where the land and buildings belong to a charity or religious organisation, it can be partly funded by a governing body, by the local authorities or by charities. The national curriculum must be followed except for the religion lessons and it is possible that this type of school has a strict staffing policy and admission criteria but anyone can apply. Academies are publicly funded schools where the money for the land, buildings and funding is jointly raised by sponsors from businesses. They are independently managed schools but have close links with the Local Education authority and the government covers running costs. Independent schools set out their own curriculum which together with the admission policies are decided by the Head Teacher and the governors. These schools are funded privately by parents and investment incomes, half of which have

These evil forces are known as IT, and strive to create uniformity and obedience without any resistance. At the end of the book the children have saved Mr. Murry from imprisonment on Camazotz, but Charles Wallace was taken over by IT, the one who had Mr. Murry, and was left behind. Using her immense love for her brother she frees him from the control of IT and all four of them make it home safely. My ending diverges from the original plot line after Meg lands on Camazotz alone to save Charles Wallace: Meg was standing breathlessly on the same hill that she had landed on the first time she came to Camazotz. The television had a remarkable role in the 1952 election, which was Dwight D. Eisenhower against Adlai E. Stevenson (Parker 1). For example Richard Nixon, Dwight D. Eisenhower s vice president, was accused of mishandling funds, but he was able to cover up his mistakes by giving a televised speech that shifted the focus away from his mistake to his dog Checkers (Parker 1). This allowed for Richard Nixon to easily reach out to the majority of voters and convince them that they should still vote for Eisenhower. Another example of the usage of television in the 1952 election was the tactic of the candidates campaigning with their wives (Parker 1). Joel Parker writes, both Eisenhower and Nixon campaigned very visibly with their wives ... while Stevenson was vulnerable on this front due to his status as a divorcГ© (Parker 1). Eisenhower and Nixon both used this advantage to campaign in a more family friendly style which could be visible almost every time they appeared on television (Parker 1). This intelligent approach that Eisenhower and Nixon took on television ultimately led to Eisenhower becoming the 34th president of the United
  • 19. Theories Of The Mary Celeste It is a century old mystery that is surrounded with controversy. What happened to The Mary Celeste? This historical mystery has many theories surrounding what happened to Captain Briggs and crew. Some more accurate than others like mother nature, criminal conspiracies and, an explosion. However, the most likely of all the theories is the alcohol explosion. The alcohol explosion is the most realistic scenario of what happened to The Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste was carrying nine barrels of alcohol, which the barrels were made of red oak not white oak. This could be a reason why the barrels were found empty. The reason is red oaks are more porous, which leads to a slow leakage through them. This creates alcohol vapor in the hold. Along with the barrels being red oak, the barrels were tied together with steel bands. All the bands had to do was rub together to cause friction and let off a spark which would create an explosion. So when captain Briggs heard or saw the start of the explosion, he would order everybody into the lifeboat. But some may wonder why they couldn t get back to the boat with the rope that connects the lifeboat to the boat. Well they may have been in such a frantic that they were not able to tie the lifeboat to the boat or their rope broke and they were whisked away by mother nature. The only thing that doesn t confirm this theory is that when the boat was found there were no burn marks. This would suggest that there was no explosion. However, this is the

This was the same for the tap water from Quincy, Massachusetts in both environments, thus not supporting the original hypothesis of the belief of traces of lead or bacteria in the tap water of Quincy. A color code was used to tell what the pH of the water was. For example, if the pH was 6, the pH test paper would turn into the color yellow, and if the pH was 7, the pH test paper would be a light green. Identifying the pH based on color could have slight human error as the pH could actually be 6.8, but when the pH of the water was tested, it could have been seen as a light green instead of a darker yellow green, thus the pH would be identified as 7 instead of the proper 6.8. Another issue that could ve been caused from human error was that when measuring the amount of water by using a graduated cylinder, it could ve been measured a slight bit off. Originally, the amount of water that was used for testing was 25mL. However, when measuring the amount of water, the water could ve been 24.9 mL instead of 25mL due to the miniscus being formed and where the meniscus was believed to be. Chapter 5 Online Failure Forecast for Fault Tolerant Data Stream Processing 5.1 Introduction 5.1.1 Historical background of Failure management in Data Stream Processing In the recent times Data Stream Management Systems (DSMSs) have been developed to support critical applications that must quickly and continuously process data as soon as it becomes available. A few of the example applications include financial stream analysis and network intrusion detection. Fault tolerance and high availability are the most important for these applications because faults can lead to losses that are quantifiable. Therefore a DSMS must be equipped with fault tolerance techniques to handle both node and network failures in order to support such applications. All of the basic techniques that help to cope with failures involve some kind of replication. Typically the state of a system s computation is replicated onto independently failing nodes. The system should then coordinate with the replicas for accurate recovery from failures. Fault tolerant techniques are most usually designed to tolerate up to a pre defined number, say k, of simultaneous failures. If such methods are used, the system is then said to be k fault tolerant. Replication and coordination have 2 general approaches. Both approaches rely on the assumption that computation can be modeled as a deterministic state machine. The implication of this assumption is that two non faulty computations that receive the same input in the

  • 36. Personality Tags for Birth Order Is there a personality tag for each child, depending on their birth order? Does the family size, or even the parents life styles, affect anything? Birth order is more than just an old wives tale about predicting the personalities of each child in every family. Birth order, put in its proper context, is a key that can unlock personalities and give you a new perspective on human nature. (First born?,1). Every child of every familyhas a personality tag, just because of their spot on the immediate family tree. Family size and birth orderare factors that make the personality tag for the first born, middle child, last born, and only child of each family. Family size affects every child s personality. Birth order and family size are linked together. For example, if there are two children in a family, there is a 50% chance of being the first born. Families with five children give each child a 20% chance of being the first born child. Every child has a chance at being the first born, but the larger the family, the lower the chance. Speaking of lower chances, there are fewer resources as well. If a family has many children, parental resources are spread thinly; for example, money, time, and attention. Ethnicity, wealth, education, and other social factors of parents also affect the family size. But, parents that are better educated, comfortable, and wealthier, usually have fewer children, so does this mean these children have more resources? The answer is yes. These

Though his possessions were luxurious and plentiful, he loses everything as his empire spins out of control, ending up in jail and possession less. Though Belfort had bad intentions in his work life, his greed and selfishness were most evident in a scene in the film where he endangers the lives of his friends and wife, demanding to sail to Monaco though the captain advised against it due to rough chop. Belfort slyly convinces all on board to sail despite the danger in order to save a fraction of his riches in a Swiss bank, and consequently his yacht capsizes and he loses his prized possessions, nearly killing himself and his loved ones. After being rescued by the Italian Navy, Jordan finally realizes that he needs to reform his life if he wants to live much longer, and states You wanna sign from God, after all this, I finally got the message. . Jordan and Lot are identical in terms of poor intentions leading them from lives of riches to ones of nothingness, while conversely Abraham a life of nothingness to one full of divine fortune, further supporting that intentions undoubtedly connect with results. Thus, in both the Abraham Saga and The Wolf of Wall Street, its apparent that greed and bad intentions lead to poor situations, and good intentions to positive outcomes; implying that the message both authors are trying to convey is that those who are genuinely good will be blessed with true fortune and wealth, thus prompting the questioning of what it means to truly live a good

It is widely viewed as one of the finest illustration of portrait work done during the Italian Renaissance. The Mona Lisa was one of the first pieces of art that I remember looking at in my elementary art class. Leonardo Da Vinci, a famous Italian artist, created the piece. It is currently held at a museum in Paris, France. It is believed Leonardo worked on the oil painting during the early 1500 s. The identity of the individual featured in the portrait has, over the years, sparked debate all over the world; some even claim it is Leonardo Da Vinci himself. The identity of the individual, however, is believed to be Lisa del Giocondo. There has also been debate surrounding the message passed in the painting as it is somewhat difficult to read the expression on Lisa s face. The Mona Lisadepicts the image of a female subject sitting upright and tilted sideways. The face and the chest of the subject are slightly turned to face the viewer. The individual s right arm comes across the body and rest on top of her left arm. The left arm is resting on the armrest of the chair she is sitting in. The portrait has a background with a landscape depicting a vanishing point. The landscape has an imbalance between a rocky horizon that is high and a flat land stretching all the way from the left. Community Reflection Paper I recently had the privilege of spending a week with a community called Furaha Community Center that provides education, social services, and community action efforts within a slum community called Haruma located in Nairobi, Kenya. The community of Haruma has roughly 500,000 people living in the equivalent of 12 square blocks. The communitysuffers from poor sanitation, rampant disease, and violence. Furaha Community Center serves the poorest and the sickest of the community in efforts to provide food, education, micro loans, and social services. The community is defined by some outsiders as poor, sick, dirty, lazy, disease ridden, gang infested, violent, sexually deviant, uneducated (education is not free in Kenya so many families cannot afford to send their children to school) and beyond hope. Although some of these descriptors are partially true, I found the community to be generous, supportive, hard working, resilient, and joyful. Capital Punishment Is The Sanctioned Practice Committee Name: 6th legal Committee Topic: Capital Punishment Country Name: Nigeria BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE TOPIC Capital Punishment is the sanctioned practice that puts someone to death in response to crimes. There are many and varied types of execution used around the world today, including: beheading, electrocution, hanging, lethal injection, shooting in the back of the head, and by firing squad. People have been working to end executions since 1977, when only 16 countries had abolished the death penalty in law or practice. Today, the number has risen to 140 nearly two thirds of countries around the world. Nearly 90% of these happened in just three countries: Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. But these figures exclude China, where numbers remain a state secret. Many countries around the world continue to hide their practices of capital punishment, for example Iran continues to execute juvenile offenders those aged under 18 at the time of the alleged crime in violation of international law. Along with Maldives and Pakistan, it also sentenced juvenile offenders to death in 2015. Countries continued to flout other aspects of international law, putting to death people with mental or intellectual disabilities, as well as those charged with non lethal crimes. Apart from drug related offences, people were executed for crimes such as adultery, blasphemy, corruption, kidnapping and questioning the leader s policies . • 48. Symbolism And Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Awakening A key aspect in writing an interesting story is having symbolism. It allows the reader to dive just a little bit deeper into the meaning and core of the work. Birds are a fairly common symbol, serving as representations of freedom, breaking free, and not afraid to be loud or to speak their minds. In Kate Chopin s novella, The Awakening, birds are used to show Edna s true feelings and desires, to explain the courage required to defy the standards, and to show Edna s final defeat. Many animals, especially birds, seem to communicate in a language that only they can really understand. The novella starts by setting a scene with the description of two birds who do exactly that. Chopin begins by stating, A green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: Allez vous en! Allez vous en! Sapristi! That s all right! He could speak a little Spanish, and also a language which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking birdthat hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening persistence (Chopin 1). The green and yellow parrot represents Edna Pontellier. She feels as if she is stuck in a golden cage with only one other being who understands her. She has always had food on her plate and her husband provides a stable income and life for her. The mocking bird represents Mademoiselle Reisz, because she is the only other being who understands what Edna, or the parrot, is feeling and wanting to

The purpose of my research was to test the effects of a non invasive adhesive patch test in improving melanoma diagnoses. Although, the DermTech adhesive patch test claims to work for all abnormal /atypical skin lesions (Gerami et al., 2017), I only studied melanoma due to the limited number of patients at my clinic. The last internal factor we will discuss is hardly a negative aspect of Suzukis business, but it certainly fits the definition of an internal factor that directly led to the decision to pull out of the States. This internal factor is their success in other regions of the world. While market share in the U.S. plummeted to well under 1%, Suzuki was doing quite well in other regions. They were the leader in India, a country that accounted for 40% overall sales in early 2012 (Hagiwara Hagiwara, 2012). In markets used to suffocating small roads, these small, inexpensive and durable cars were in high demand. And because of the success in these non U.S. markets the decision became clearer, as there was an alternative place to allocate resources.
