Flannery O Connor Essay
Crafting an essay on the works of Flannery O'Connor can be a challenging yet intellectually
rewarding task. The difficulty lies not only in summarizing and analyzing her intricate narratives
but also in grasping the profound themes that permeate her stories. O'Connor's writing often
delves into complex aspects of human nature, morality, and the intersection of the mundane and
the divine.
To write a compelling essay, one must navigate the layers of symbolism and religious undertones
that characterize O'Connor's work. Understanding her Southern Gothic style, with its blend of
grotesque elements and dark humor, adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
Additionally, O'Connor's characters are often morally ambiguous, making it crucial for the
essayist to explore the nuances of their motivations and actions.
Moreover, addressing the broader context of O'Connor's life, the societal issues she grappled
with, and the religious influences that shaped her work can further complicate the essay-writing
process. Connecting these elements cohesively while presenting a fresh perspective requires in-
depth research and analytical skills.
Despite the challenges, the opportunity to engage with Flannery O'Connor's profound literary
legacy is a journey worth undertaking. It demands a thoughtful exploration of her unique
storytelling, an appreciation for the complexities of her characters, and a keen understanding of
the cultural and religious backdrop against which her narratives unfold.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of Flannery O'Connor is a task that demands
dedication, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of her literary contributions. For those
seeking assistance or looking to explore similar topics, various resources are available. From essay
writing services to online platforms, like HelpWriting.net, one can access a wealth of
information and support to navigate the challenges of such literary analyses.

Of Studies By Francis Bacon Summary
Life Lessons
(An analysis of Francis Bacon s Of Studies and the three messages derived from it)
Studies serve for Delight, for Ornament, and for Ability (Lynch). Those are the
three purposes of studies in the eyes of a man by the name of Francis Bacon.
Francis was just absolutely brilliant, and is easily considered one of the smartest
men who has ever lived. During his time, he was a philosopher as well as a
scientist in the United Kingdom. He was best remembered for his classic essays,
and one of his finest ones was Of Studies. Francis Bacon, the first major English
essayist, comments forcefully in Of Studies on the value of reading, writing, and
learning (Nordquist). In Francis Bacon s Of Studies, there were a few take home
messages that could not be overlooked. First of all, Of Studies provides us with the
take home message that, studies develop into habits. This idea is one that stood
out to me the most due to its accuracy, especially in sports activities. Before any one
person can go participate in a game of basketball, they must first study the rules
and learn about the game. For instance, a person could learn to dribble on his own
with two hands and then go attempt to play with others, but they will be quick to
tell him that what he is doing is against the rules. The poor boy would have no idea
why what he is doing is wrong, and this is why we all must study before being
actively involved in something. Practice can make permanent because by repeating
ways of acting, a young person forms habits (patterns of recurrent behavior) for good
and for ill (Pickhardt). Now when you study before participating in events, you have
a much better chance to develop good habits and succeed. Most certainly, Francis
Bacon hit the head on the nail in Of Studies, with the message that knowledge is
power. Knowledge sets us free, and makes us less dependent on others (Rai).
Freedom is truly the first step to obtaining real power, which derives from the
knowledge we obtain. Knowledge really provides people with a feeling of self
fulfillment and confidence, which in hindsight will boost your self esteem. We
could be at any point in our lives, but if we have knowledge then people are going to
respect us for

racial harmony and national integrity, to from positive character through moral value,
to develop volunteerism, and to create younger generation who are active physically,
mentally and filled with self confidence. This research was undertaken to evaluate the
program from the perspective of a national service trainee, before, during, and after
attending the whole program. Result in the research cannot be generalized due to the

Butterfly
A butterfly is a mainly day flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, which includes the
butterflies and moths. Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly s life cycle
consists of four parts: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies
have large, often brightly coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight.
Butterflies comprise the true butterflies (superfamily Papilionoidea), the skippers
(superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). All the
many other families within the Lepidopteraare referred to as moths. The earliest
known butterflyfossils date to the mid Eocene epoch, between 40 50 million years
ago.

As Lepidoptera, butterflies have four wings that are covered with tiny scales (see
photo). The fore and hindwings are not hooked together, permitting a more graceful
flight. An adult butterfly has six legs, but in the nymphalids, the first pair is reduced.
After it emerges from its pupal stage, a butterfly cannot fly until the wings are
unfolded. A newly emerged butterfly needs to spend some time inflating its wings
with blood and letting them dry, during which time it is extremely vulnerable to
predators. Some butterflies wings may take up to three hours to dry while others
take about one hour. Most butterflies and moths will excrete excess dye after
hatching. This fluid may be white, red, orange, or in rare cases,
Manufacturing Output Rises in the Us
An economic revival is here according to an article in The Atlantic titled America s
Coming Manufacturing Revolution . In the author s own words, The combination of
lower energy prices, innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics
and materials science are powering a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate
the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold words considering the recent
financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there enough evidence to
back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Several news outlets are
reporting gains in manufacturing operations such as increases in labor and use of
factory space. Using this information, I hope to describe the elements used to... Show

The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and
utilities in the U.S. reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national
average from 1980 until now is 79.4 percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to
an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity utilization since June 2008.
(Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more efficiently,
manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory
space are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within
the United States. However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means
because most of the data suggests this is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t
changed any aspects of business. Although, if this upward trend continues, we can
expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more made in the US
products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t
paid to forecast so my essay ends here.

Tutoring Halls Essay
Gradation also have became a key component of discussions about accountability in
higher education, said Bryan Cook and Terry Hartle. Students striving towards higher
education opportunities is the goal. However, our graduation rates where they re
suppose to be? According to CCPS Department of Communication, in 2012, the
county, state, and nation s graduation percentage was 53.63%, 72.5%, and 81%. Even
though the graduation quota at state and national level are distinctly larger than
Clayton County s, increasing the students interest in their learningenvironment and
creating tutoring halls will certainly aid in the progression to elevate graduation rate.
First and foremost, it s significant to embrace the students interest in their educational
surroundings. As noted in these articles, improving instruction has refined
standardized test scores on national level. In Atlanta, Georgia, Rob Clark Academy

The Parking Lot, Mont And I Got Into His Porsche
In the parking lot, Mont and I got into his Porsche. When he started the engine,
Avant s Read Your Mind made its way through the speakers. The smooth voice of
the singer gave me chills. Then Mont took my hand and held it gently. As he
backed up out of the parking space with one hand on the steering wheel, I looked in
the direction of my car. I wondered if we were going to his house or a nearby hotel.
My question was answered when he pulled onto the interstate and took the next exit
ramp.
The signs for lodging had four hotels listed Staybridge Suites, Holiday Inn,
Candlewood Suites, and Best Western. My heart thumped as the sweet music
continued to play. After holding Mont s hand, I was ready to give it up. I couldn t

After he swiped the card in the door, a green light flashed, and we entered the
room. The set up was usual. A king size bed, television, microwave, mini fridge,
small table, vanity area, and full bath. I started taking off my shoes, and Mont did
the same. When I unbuttoned my pants and slid them down over my hips, he
watched me. I gave him a little smile and took off my blouse next. Come here, he
commanded, as he stood up with a very erect penis. I walked over and embraced
him. His lips tasted like the peppermint drink he drank back at the coffee house.
Then we fell onto the bed and slow grinded on one another until we couldn t take it
anymore. As he fondled my private areas, my thoughts ran wild. My bangles
clinked as I reached down and guided his thick erection into my wetness. Damn, I don
t ever remember it feeling this good, I thought to myself as I wrapped my legs
around his lean body. I felt so good; I felt like drooling. I called for Mont as he
slowly savored every plunge into my juicy love box until my cell phone rang.
Mont stopped moving for a moment, and I stopped moaning. I should get that; it
may be you know who, I said, as I rolled my eyes. No, I think that you know who
can wait, he said, with a serious face, then he started to grind slowly against me
again. Just as I was about to climax the phone went off again, and I got worried.

The Letter Of The Visa Card
I did something crazy this weekend and traveled two states away to see my brothers
and their families.
I have a BP visa card from Chase. I was filling our van up with gas in Pennsylvania
and it got declined.
Ironic Occurrence Number 1: My BP Visa Card was declined when I was filling up
with gas at a BP station!
Actually, I didn t know it was declined at the time. The readout at the pump said see
cashier . So, I tried again and it failed again and told me to see cashier again.
So, ya know what I did? I went and saw the cashier.
He was a nice guy with a Indian accent. Who d a thunk it? A guy from India at a gas
station? Yep. He was very helpful and told me I vas sviping it too vast . So, he
came out with me and showed me how to svipe it slower. And after he did...the result
was still see cashier .
Ironic Occurrence Number 2: The gas pump told the cashier he should see himself.
So, I used my other credit card and it worked fine.
I immediately called the phone number on the back of the card and I spoke to
another person from India. This time I think the person was actually located in
India! She told me my credit card was placed on hold for security reasons. She then
asked me all sorts of verifying questions; mother s maiden name, last four digits of
my social security number, whether I was circumcised or not and then told me
everything was okay and my purchases should go through from now on.
And, that s not what happened.
Ironic Occurrence Number 3: That
Judicial Review
Introduction
The controversy of judicial review which at extreme points, is called judicial
activism, is a concept new to India. Judicial review can be defined as the judiciary,
in the exercise of its own independence, checking and cross checking the working of
the other organs of the government, while trying to uphold the ideal of the rule of
law . Judicial activism more reformist in character is often confused with judicial
review. According to Black s Law Dictionary, judicial activism is a philosophy of
judicial decision making whereby judges allow their personal views about public
policy, among other factors, to guide their decisions, usually with the suggestion that
adherents of this philosophy tend to find constitutional ... Show more content on

The first sporadic effort to incorporate the power of judicial review was in
Germany in 1848. However, it took till 1920 when the first serious attempt was
made in Australia to make judicial review a reality. The European Union, in present
times, also provides for judicial review in the European Court of Justice. Many
countries like Germany also have strong Supreme Courts which reflect public
opinion and can review laws.5 Most civilian law countries, however, do not have
their judiciaries interfering with the legislative process and believe in the separation
of powers but not in the checking of unlawful use of power. It is mainly in common
law countries, where courts are obligated to judge according to justice, equity and
good conscience , where the courts took it upon themselves to convert this maxim
into reality.
Constitutionality India is a constitutional democracy which believes in the rule of
law. The Constitution of India is the basic framework which must be followed to
prevent a collapse of law and order. The judiciary is often called the guardian of the
Constitution . This gives the judiciary the power to interpret the Constitution in order
to hold up its basic ideals. This power of interpretation is at the
Imaging Of Musculoskeletal Disorders And The Early 1900
s...
Imaging of musculoskeletal disorders began in the early 1900 s with the invention
and utilization of radiography and fluoroscopic equipment (McKinnis, 2014).
Evolutions in imaging now allow for clearer digital recorded images of fluoroscopy,
radiographs, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging
(McKinnis, 2014). From the beginning, imaging has not been an isolated or sole
diagnostic tool. The clinician s expertise in the evaluation process, the
comprehensive evaluation and assessment of the patient, documented and reported
patient history, associated signs and symptoms, and the additional medical test
results along with red flags must be taken into account when considering referral
for imaging (Dutton, 2012; McKinnis, 2014). There are several clinical prediction
rules and guidelines, which have been created to assist health care providers in
managing the utilization and prevention of inappropriate imaging (Dutton, 2012;
Gan, Harkey, Hemingway, Hughes, Duszak, 2016; Gidwani et al., 2016; McKinnis,
2014). Based on the aforementioned information, not all spinal patients will require
or should receive spinal imaging. MRIs and other forms of imaging can produce
false negatives, false positives, and reader interpretation and assessment errors,
therefore the results of a MRI or any other form of imaging should not be the sole
reason for any diagnosis or intervention (Dutton, 2012; Fu et al., 2016; Gan, Harkey,
Hemingway, Hughes, Duszak, 2016; Gidwani et

What Does Yellow Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald there are several symbols that appear all
throughout the book. The symbols are things such as the green light, weather, eyes,
but the one that stands out the most is color. Specifically, the color yellow pops up
in many situations, and appears on different objects to give insight to how the
characters will be affected at that time. Yellow has many meanings some main ones
are: how money can affect people, to caution characters that danger is afoot, and to
protect certain characters.
During the 1920s money was the revolving factor of everyone s lifestyle whether
an individual has money or not he/she always desired more. At Gatsby s party
Nick sat down at a table with two girls in yellow (43). Having the girls in yellow
shows how people want to fit in with the wealthy part of society. The women
especially want someone who is rich in order to fulfill their materialism. Still, when
people did have money they would put one facade to give others the idea they were
happy and perfect even if that wasn t the case. ... Show more content on

peering down at the [yellow] car (124). Myrtle is like a deer that is blinded by the
bright lights, which in her case is Tom s wealth, and she doesn t realize how
dangerous it can be. The color is used to give insight that Myrtle should stay away
from Tom because everytime she tries to get closer to him the outcome becomes
worse. Every time a character, not just Myrtle, encounters the color yellow the end
result becomes even more severe. Regardless of the circumstances yellow is used as
a precaution to warn characters to stay away, and that money can dangerous if not

The Crucifixion By Brecht Durer Analysis
Brecht Durer once said, What beauty is, I know not, though it adheres to many
things. Brecht Durer was a German painter, print maker, and theorist who was born
on May 21, 1471 and died on April 6, 1528 in Nuremberg, Germany. His extensive
work in printmaking established his reputation in Europe, making him one of the
leading artists of the Renaissanceperiod. A print is a work of art made up of ink on
paper and existing in multiple examples. Durer s woodcut prints often depicted
religious subjects and revealed technical skills that had never before been seen.
Woodcut is a technique in printmakingwhere the artist carves images from a piece

during the Northern Renaissance period. This print is one out of a series... Show more

There was a darkness that fell across the land from noon to three o clock. When the

Implementing lean six sigma for process improvement Essay
IMPLEMENTING LEAN SIX SIGMA FOR PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Lean Six Sigma approach is recognized widely and has been implemented
predominately in manufacturing rather than other industries. To illustrate the point,
this paper draws attention to the adoption of Lean Six Sigma in various industries
with a case study. The combination of Lean tools and Six Sigma methodology is
used to improve the process and quality by eliminating the variations and creating
workflow in a process. The hypothesis of this study was that the Six Sigma

3.2 Six Sigma
The concept of Six Sigma was developed in the early 1980 s at Motorola
Corporation (Harry and Schroeder, 2000). Six Sigma can be defined as a statistical
measure of the performance of a process or product (Kumi et. al., 2006). It is used as
a quality control mechanism, which seeks to reduce defects or variations in a process
to 3.4 per million opportunities thereby optimizing output and increasing customer
satisfaction (Sambhe, 2012). Sigma is representing the standard deviation, a unit of
measurement that designates the distribution or spread about the mean of a process
(Six Sigma Academy, 2002). In addition, the Six Sigma uniquely driven by close
understanding of customer needs, disciplined use of fact, data, and statistical
analysis, and diligent attention to managing improving, and reinventing business
processes (Pande, P., et. al. 2000). The Six Sigma methodology uses statistical tools
to identify the factors that matter most for improving the quality of processes and
generating bottom line results. The Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure,
Managing Behaviours in the Learning Environment

in different learning situations. Provide an analysis of the impact of those behaviours
on others and yourself, with particular reference to the impact of learning. Making
reference to relevant reading, review factors which may influence the behaviours that
you have identified.
I could argue that some Trainees don t realise or know they are behaving
inappropriately, and it can be a frightful shock when it is realised that the tolerance
within a civilian classroom and a military classroom are vastly different and due to
the army philosophy, very few Trainees continue to be disruptive. Before... Show

The Instructor felt he couldn t do any more and simply referred the matter for their
Troop Commander to deal with. I felt that the Instructor should have dealt with this
matter within the classroom and not pass it up the chain of command; this would
have showed his authority publicly, and his Trainees would understand that
misconduct will not be tolerated.
3. Provide a review of ways of promoting behaviour that is appropriate to learning,
as well as to ways of managing disruptive behaviour. Include a reflection on the ways
in which you have managed behaviours. Based on your strengths and development
needs, outline ways in which you can improve your approach to managing
behaviours. Your review should make clear reference to relevant reading.
Reading through a number of civilian case studies, carried out within the classroom
environment I have found that we, within the military, are incredibly fortunate to
have a very detailed document which lays down the procedures to deal with
disruptive behaviour. This is known as AGAI 67 (Army General and Administrative
Instructions 67); this comprehensive document informs the instructor of the
administrative procedure and which punishments and suggested for which misdeed.
As I have mentioned, the most effective incentive not to misbehave is to take away
The Earthquake Of Central Nepal
1. Introduction A Mw7.8 earthquake struck the Gorkha region of central Nepal on
the 25th April 2015 (11:56 am local time). The initial tremor was followed by a
series of Mw 6 aftershocks including a Mw7.3 event on the 12th May 2015.
Together, this series of earthquakes have been termed the Gorkha earthquake
sequence (Collins and Jibson, 2015). The Mw7.3 aftershock killed an estimated
160 people, which is in addition to a ~8,600 death toll for the main Mw7.8 event
(Kargel et al., 2016). Up to 6% of these deaths were attributed to the secondary
hazard of landsliding (CEDIM, 2015). The advent of satellite imagery coupled with
Geographic Information Systems has enabled the quick mapping of earthquake
induced landsliding (Xu et al., 2013).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, in future hazard surveys remote sensing could identify the land
characterises of landslides in cloud free areas and use this data to direct traditional
methods of field data collection (i.e. helicopters) to hot spots of greater landslide

dataset collected during the Gorkha earthquake series , Nepal, 2015.

Don Trump Persuasive Speech
During the 2016 elections, I supported Trump. It all started that one day after
Bernie Sanders dropped out of the election. Everyone in school was talking about
who they supported. I usually am not afraid to speak my mind so I casually said, If
I could vote I would vote for Trump! As soon as those words escaped my mouth, I
regretted it. Almost immediately based on this statement made by me, everyone
around started making assumptions about me. People made comments of That s
racist! and So you are a bully and racist? or Oh nice joke! I was just shocked. I never
made comments about the people the person they supported and I never judged them
for it.
Right after the elections a fellow classmate came up to me and said I hate you
because Donald Trump won. This really hurt my feelings.
My situation however wasn t as bad the one faced by Andi Moritz, a college student
at Bryn Mawr. It all started when she put a post online asking for a ride to Trump
rally. The comments she received and the bullying after that were so bad she called
her college suicide hotline where she found no consolation. ... Show more content on

them to say things to certain people just because they support Trump. But the fact
that they supported Trump doesn t make them any less human than others. They still

Thematic Essay On The Painted Bird
A thematic research paper on the novel of The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski In
Jerzy Kosinski s novel, T he Painted Bird, marginalisation creates genocide, a
crimeВridden second class, and vast amounts of psychological torment. Jews were
massacred during World War II causing the young boy to flee from village after
village to avoid being sent to a concentration camp. The young boy s plea for safety
lands him in various situations, many of which cause him to be tortured and/or
abused. Psychological torment from marginalisation causes the young boy to
believe God holds disdain toward those without blond hair and blue eyes, causing
the young boy to feel depressed. Marginalisation of society in World War II causes
a genocide; this genocide forces the young boy to flee from his home and make an
endless journey in search of a place of sanctuary. During World War II, Jews were
sent to concentration camps and extermination camps in an effort to promote their
marginalisation and genocide; the young boy knew this reality and fled from many
villages to escape persecution. After causing mischief at his previous village, the
young boy decided to flee into the woods in search of a new home. I wandered for
several days in the woods and made attempts to approach the villages.... Show more

The young boy s lust for a safe environment lead him to abusive situations. Jews at
that time were demonized, causing society to shun them. Psychological torment
from marginalisation lead many dark hair and dark skinned people to feel
ashamed of themselves, the young boy in T he Painted Bird was an example of
this. The young boy s psychological torment forced him to hold disdain for God
since God would not answer his prayers. The torment forced upon the young boy
was the harsh reality for Jews and other minorities during World War II. By reading
this book one is able to temporarily step into the shoes of a genocide
Delta Airlines Evaluation
For my news report I turned to the website Prnewsonline.com and I supplemented my
research with information from the BET website. These websites were incredibly
helpful in my research gathering process. I feel that these sources were reliable and
for the most part unbiased news sources in which I could gather accurate and relevant
information to my issue.
In early October, Delta Airlines was accused with racial profiling after a flight
attendant refused to believe that a black woman, Tamika Cross, was a doctor. During
a flight from Detroit, a man went unconscious and his wife cried out for help. A
representative for the airline went on the speaker and asked if anyone aboard was a
doctor, Dr. Tamika Cross immediately responded. The flight attendant showed clear
doubt that Tamika Cross was a doctor and reportedly said to her that they were
looking for actual physicians or nurses or some type of medical personnel. Once
again the cockpit asked if there were any medical personnel on board, and once again
Dr. Cross responded. Once again Dr. Cross was greeted with disbelief and was even
asked to prove her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through utilization of justification, Delta airlines minimizes their crisis by stating
that they are still taking action in order to investigate what happened. Delta never
fully acknowledges that there is an issue and instead tries to make it right through
the reduction of offensiveness. Through utilizing this strategy they reduce the
severity of Dr. Cross s allegations by discussion how their flight attendants are
trained and how ultimately it comes down to a judgment call. The biggest issue with
Delta s statement is that it lacks an apology and never acknowledges that there was
an issue of racial profiling. Although Delta did issue a statement, it was not effective
in making their issues go away, and was not a sincere

Analysis Of John Gardner s The And The Brave Universe
John Gardner s cleverly composed Grendel is a critique on the benefits and blemishes
of both sorts of perspective: the existentialist significance free universe, and the brave
universe, where each activity is saturated with reason and power. In reality, the book
brings up numerous philosophical issues as to the importance of life and in addition
to the way people characterize themselves. Furthermore, Gardner depicts persistent
examination, and last endorsement, of existentialist perspectives as one watches that
the principle character, Grendel, is an existentialist.
In the wake of having completely perused the book, there is doubtlessly Grendel
indicates confirmation of backing in existentialism. The novel takes after the life of a

Through his eyes are demonstrated the worthlessness of a sentimental standpoint
and the obliteration of a fantasy. On the off chance that the Shaper s vision of
goodness and peace is a piece of himself, not sit out of gear rhymes, then nobody
comprehends him by any means, thinks Grendel, perceiving the difference amongst
reality and the courageous perfect (53). His annihilation of Unferth imprints the
typical pulverization of valor, at any rate in his mind; Such a great amount for
courage, he finishes up (90). Indeed, even Grendel s presence would appear to
invalidate the ideas of the Shaper, who lectures the excellencies of honor and
fearlessness. On the off chance that the world depends on good and bad, by what
method can Grendel keep on surviving? By what means would he be able to
slaughter illogically consistently, convey so much distress and torment to people, but
nothing happen to it? It s all the same at last, matter or movement, basic or complex,
whether he murders or not (73). In the first place, Grendel chooses that life must be
without significance. Agnosticism is, of condemnation, a somewhat discouraging, if
freeing, approach to experience life, however such would appear to be the finish of
the book.
With a specific end goal to comprehend what Gardner expects by this, one must take a
gander at the procedure through which Grendel turns skeptic. Mentally, Grendel is an
intriguing character.
Analysis Of A Long Walk To Water
The lost boys. That was what they were being called in America the boys who had
lost their homes and families because of the war and had wandered, lost, for weeks
or months at a time before reaching the refugee camps (91). Linda Sue Park wrote a
novel based on one of these boys called A long walk to water. Salva Dut was a boy
alone in Sudan and becomes a survivor by also becoming a leader, adapting to
situations, and overcoming dangerous obstacles. Salva was a lost boy in a big
world that had many problems, but he overcomes them by helping others as a
leader (91). Salva s uncle was the leader of the group he was staying in and he
shared all the food he got to the group, but it seemed they had all forgotten that, for
now Salva now had to beg for scraps, which were given grudgingly (67). Salva was
alone now because his uncle was killed in the war, so after he died, the group did
not treat him with the same respect that Salva had to his uncle. Much later, after
Salva became alone again and was left to fend for himself, Salva had become the
leader of a group of about fifteen hundred boys (80). After Salva got older the
group looked to him to lead them to the new refugee camps because the camps in
Sudan were closing. As Salva became the leader of the boys he didn t just walk
with them, he helped them personally Salva would talk to them, encourage them,
coax and persuade them (81). Salva was a true leader because he actually helped
the group like his uncle by talking to them, sharing with them, and showing them
the way to get what they need, he also showed them how to adapt to situations.
Salva was one of the many who faced multiple situations in America and to
overcome them he adapted to them. Salva was in so many camps that he heard the
aid workers talk and get a little english down but after so many years in the camps,
Salva could understand a little english (86). Michael was an Irish aid worker that
helped Salva a little english and teach him some letters to memorize. Salva had
gone to America because he was chosen to go now Salva s arms were piled with new
clothes. Underwear, socks, sneakers. A pair of long pants. A t shirt and a long
sleeved shirt to wear on top of it (92). Salva got into America
Essay on Old Man And The Sea
Old Man and The Sea
quot; The great DiMaggio is himself again! quot;(21), in Ernest Hemingway s novel,
The Old Man and the Sea, which takes place near Havana, Cuba in the Caribbean
Sea, a very old, unlucky, fisherman sets out for the big catch. The great
DiMaggio is seamed throughout the novel to symbolize the old man and his struggle
to catch the big fish, yet also he poses as a role model for Santiago
(the old man).
The old man is using the great DiMaggio for a role model. At a certain point in the
struggle to catch this great fish, the old man begins to cramp up in his left hand, do to

When thinking of the great DiMaggio, the old man remembers to give himself more
confidence, and in doing so thinks back to his younger years when he was referred
to as the champion because of an arm wrestling match. This gave the old man more
strength and will to push on and fight the fish until he wins.
Also this image of DiMaggio reminds him he must be very strategical, and do
everything right, despite any cramps in his hand.
There is hard evidence that shows that DiMaggio symbolizes the old man.
Previously Joe DiMaggio had been struggling in his profession of baseball, due to
a bone spur in his heel. The whole team struggled because DiMaggio was the main
hope to the Yankee s team. Now in the case of the old man, who had previously
struggled to catch a fish because of his newly developed unluckiness, struggles in
his life because he has not caught a fish and in turn, has no money to buy the
necessities for life. Well as soon as DiMaggio picked up his game and started to
play at a whole new level, the old man hooked into a great big marlin, and started a
fight that would change his life. Not to mention the fact that DiMaggio played
outstanding even though he suffered from a bone spur in his heel. As did the old man
out struggle and out think the fish even though he suffered from a temporary cramp
in his left hand. All of this shows how
DiMaggio quot;is quot; the old man quot; The great DiMaggio is himself again

Essay about E. J. Gallo Winery Case Study

Introduction The dessert wine industry realized huge success during the great
depression years when buying regular wine was a luxury that few could afford.
Characterized by its sweet taste, high alcohol content, and cheap price it was until
the 80 s an easy to buy alcoholic beverage that gave people with lower income the
opportunity to have wine on their table. The 1980 s was a decade of change in people

Nevertheless, despite the criticism, the company still produces and sells its signature
type of dessert wines; Thunderbird and Night Train.
Discussion According to the Wine Institute the dessert wine segment is 8% of the
total U.S. wine sales, with Gallo controlling 16.1% of the segment (Wine Institute).
The key success factors in the dessert wine segment have been the placement of
this product. Supermarkets, corner liquor stores, and warehouse clubs all carry it.
These wines were the beginning of Gallo and it was not until the late 70 s that
Gallo started producing premium wines and wine coolers. At first the premium
wines were marketed without Gallo s name on them but as years have passed and
Gallo s various premium wines have won major awards, the Gallo name became
associated with the premium wines, and not the dessert wines. While there is not a
strategic fit per se between the two there is an economy of scale present and both
Gallo and the liquor distributors/ retailers benefit by the company offering a wide
range of products, which helps with bracket buying, merchandise assistance, and
signage. According to Times Magazine, Gallo s dessert wine accounts only for 3%
of its total wine sales ever since the company transitioned to higher quality wine
products (Times Magazine). However, dessert wines, despite the criticism they
encounter, have a sweet and more palatable taste which allows for an easy entry for
new drinkers to the wine
Research Paper On The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
PLASTIC ISLANDS IN THE OCEAN
For thousands, maybe even millions, of years, marine debris has built up on these
little islands in the pacific ocean. However one may know it as the Great Pacific
Garbage Patch. ?The Great Pacific Garbage Patch spans waters from the West Coast
of North America to Japan? (Great Pacific Garbage Patch). Marine Debris is litter that
ends up in oceans, and other large bodies of water. This in turn makes the Great
Pacific Garbage Patch.
The patch also includes the Western and Eastern regions between Hawaii and
California. There is also a convergence zone in which warm water and cool water
meet up from the South Pacific and the Arctic. In this zone, the debris moves from
warm water to cool water. So in turn the debris is able to move freely throughout
these zones. They are also able to travel through and into the Pacific ocean.
That leads us to our second topic, an ocean gyre. ?An ocean gyre is a system of
circular ocean currents formed by the Earth?s wind patterns and the forces created by
the rotation of the planet? (Great Pacific Garbage Patch). The gyre that we will be
talking about is the one in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. California, North
Equatorial, Kuroshiro, and North Pacific currents interact with the gyre. As ... Show

Gender Roles And Sex Segregation In The United States
Gender roles play a huge part in society. Gender plays a role in shaping an
individuals identify and beliefs. It also helps identify what is masculine and what is
feminine. Certain tasks, duties, and jobs are classified by gender. However, gender
appropriate behavior should not be enforced in our society for numerous reasons and
can be seen on an individual level and be demonstrated by social learning theory and
sexsegregation. Within and across different cultures, we can find great consistency in
standards of anticipated genderroles. In the United States, like many other countries,
males are expected to be independent, assertive, and competitive. Females are
expected to be more passive, sensitive, and supportive. For example, when a
woman gives birth, she is the one that is expected to stay home and take care of
her children while the father goes to work and is the breadwinner for the family.
In society, it is more acceptable and common to see the women stay home and take
care of the house and children while the husband goes to work instead of the other
way around. Stay at home dads are not as common as stay at home moms.
However, it is up to the individuals on what they decide as a couple. Because of
this, gender appropriate behaviors can be seen because of sex segregation and
starting at young ages. Sex Segregation, according to Erving Goffman (1977) is far
from total, and is a more complex and dynamic process than the portrayal of separate
worlds. He

for selected countries, based on National Footprint Accounts. The online calculator
asked questions to determine how to distribute the ecological footprint into
different categories based on the country s average consumption profile. In
addition to calculating the amount of carbon a person is responsible for through
their daily activities, the calculator also estimated a total ecological footprint to

Urban Legends Essay
We have all heard of strange and gory stories that are supposedly true, experienced
by a friend of a friend. Whether true or not these so called urban legends tend to
circulate throughout society thriving on each individual s fears and curiosity. What
most people don t realize is, within these tales lies the attitudes and values of a
community. These tales do not survive throughout the years solely on the basis of
their entertainment level, but due to the fact that they reflect society s fears and
anxieties. In dissecting these tales one can indefinitely find the social fallacy against
females that has existed for decades, as well as the fears women have against men.
However, more importantly, the values that society hold are... Show more content on

Not very often, because it is uncommon. Males are accepted to be able to protect
themselves against such crimes, because they are strong physically and mentally.
This tale also implies that females often play the role of the victim while males are
the perpetrator of these violent crimes. The predator male seeks and stalks its innocent
female prey. If Jane was a man then the story would seem less frightening and
interesting. However she is a female whose antagonist is a demented and neurotic
male, thus greater fear and anxiety is created. This dominant attitude, though sexist,
is a recurring theme that has existed in our society for centuries and continues to
prevail till this day. The theme of violence is a popular route for most urban
legends. Violence can mean the threat of one s life to the threat of one s innocence.
Society dearly values life, whether due to religious or cultural influences life is
sacred and precious. Thus when hearing of others life threatening stories it gets the
heart racing. That could happen to me. This connection is immediate because it asks
for no suspension of belief. That is, it is very possible that the tale has some truth to
it and that the actions of the tale are quite believable, distinct, and real.

XBOX 360 and Wii have multiple differences when it comes to the way each
console looks. The Nintendo Wii is a very small and compact device. The console
developers managed to keep the Wii as small as possible by incorporating only one
Universal Serial Bus also known as a USB port. The Wii console is available in a
variety of colors, but the most common and standard color is white. Compared to
the small size and compact aspects of the Wii, the XBOX 360 is extremely
different. The XBOX is close in size to a toaster oven and can be purchased in
black and white. Unlike the Wii, the XBOX has multiple USB ports. When
designing the XBOX 360, Microsoft kept the gamer in mind and tried to provide
them with an easy and resourceful device. The overall appearance of both consoles

How Employees Make Investment, Saving And Manage
Their...
A number of aspects have emerged in the last ten years regarding the behaviors of
employee in making retirement decisions. This dissertation investigates various
insights from previous studies about how employees make investment, saving and
manage their retirement plans. The purpose of this study understands the behavior
adopted by the individuals while making economic decisions and the reaction of the
market towards these decisions. Past studies demonstrate that majority of employees
make little savings towards while others make poor choices and other use their
accumulated investments quickly when they retire. The behavioral basis for these
trends is overconfidence, restricted regulation, and so forth. Providing detailed
understanding on the reasons why employees do no attain ideal results of their
retirement plans, presents practical basis for policymakers and sponsors in charge of
designing, controlling an assessing organisations that offer financial security when
employees retire. In particular, literature shows that the design of pension plans
should be made in a way that it s automatic for employees unwilling to exercise
control of their savings in old age. Table of Contents Abstract2 1.0 Introduction3 1.1

Acme Minerals Extraction Company
Acme Minerals Extraction Company A long time ago, work used to be assigned only
to one person and that person was in charge of doing only that task. Then, with the
new technology innovations, we start seeing how companies started to trained some
employees to be what they usually called multi tasking employees . Since technology
kept changing and became more advanced companies realized that having multi
tasking employees was not enough to satisfy the market demands and the production
problems they were having at that moment. In other to solve these problems, group
of employees were assigned different tasks, and without probably knowing, they
started to form what we know today teams . Nowadays, big and small companies

We don t know how bad the situation was at the Lubbock plant between employees
neither. All I know, and in what I can base my answer, is that at the Wichita plant
the employees had somebody, from their own family , to trust while the Lubbock
employees had only the new threat to trust, and I said threat because based on my
own experience working with other people, that was the way my co workers used
to see new managers or supervisors at work. While I was working at the Hewlett
Packard Company at Puerto Rico, I had the chance to work with two different
supervisors. When I first started, the supervisor at that moment was a supervisor
that had been there for a long time, so the relation supervisor employee was a really
nice one. Under his supervision I got to be shift leader of my shift. Everything was
working fine, when one day the supervisor told us he got promoted so he was
going to be moved to other plant here in the United State. Right away, my co
workers started feeling that they will have to work more because of the new
supervisor, that they will not go to have the same benefits they had before, and all
kind of thoughts that I had not think about until that moment. They even thought they
were going to be fired. Probably, the Lubbock plant employees felt the same way or
had questions that needed to be answered but they did not have somebody they could
trust to ask. I also think

2. The Impact of Bond Market on European Government Debt Problems
2.1. Bond Market
The bond market is one of the fixed income markets that it is deals in with transaction
of long term fixed income securities. Moreover, the bond is one of the financial
instruments and then the financial instruments are generally regarded as securities. In
the bond market, there are two bonds familiar to mass investors. One is called
government bonds, and another one is called corporate bonds. Firstly, as its name,
government bonds are issued by government with maturities up to about 30 years.
Usually, medium term bonds and long term bonds pay out fixed amounts of coupon
payments in semi annually during the repayment period. But, the index linked bonds
pay out alterable amounts of coupon payments in semi annually because of the
changes in inflation. The reason of government bonds are always have a lot of
attraction to investors is that investors are generally referred to government bonds as
bonds being free from default risk. With this characteristic, government bonds are
safer than most other financial instruments to invest. However, the high return always
with the high risk and vice versa that government bonds offers lower yields. Secondly,
the corporate bonds is the another one that are concerned more by investors in daily
transaction activities. There are three main sources for corporates to raising finance
for their investment projects, they are: retained earnings, non marketable debt

Effect of Temperature on Solubility of Potassium Chloride in Water
Research question
How does temperature affect the solubility of potassium chloride in water?
Hypothesis
As the temperature of water increases, the particles of solid Potassium chloride, KCl,
which are absorbing energy from its surrounding, start moving more easily between
the solution and its solid state because. According to the second law of
thermodynamics, the particles will shift to the more disordered, more highly
dispersed solution state. I predict that as the temperature of a KCl and water mixture
increases, then the solubility of the KCl will also increase.

The use of different syringes for the extraction of the Potassium chloride and
distilled water solution from each beaker avoids the possibility of contamination in
the case where the same syringe was used in all 6 beakers.
The needle of the syringe should be placed at the midpoint between the surface of
the solution and the bottom of the beaker upon extraction. This is because of it were
placed at the surface of the solution some air particles might enter the syringe, and if
it were placed at the bottom of the beaker some undissolved particles might be
extracted, thereby leading to an increase in the actual concentration of the dissolved
salt.
The weight of each 50ml beaker (used for weighing the mass of dissolved Potassium
chloride after the evaporation of water) should be recorded. If the experimenter
were to weigh the mass of one beaker and take it as a default mass, the latter may be
a source of error.
In order to minimize errors and to place the solutions in the same environment, the
same volume should be extracted from each solution using the syringes.
After heating the extracted solution in the 50ml beaker for weighing purposes, some
of the water might condense back into the liquid state (in the form droplets), thereby
leading to an increase in the calculated weight of Potassium chloride. Therefore

Computer Systems Working Around Us
Today, as a society, we all seem to accept the trend of doing multiple things at the
same time because of the limited amount of time we are given on a daily basis. We
find ourselves juggling many tasks at once; whether it is time with family, work,
or even a favorite hobby, we all have to find time to manage all of these things
while maintaining some kind of balance. It can be very difficult today to find time
to do all of these things and one way to make it a lot easier is by using computers.
While scientifically proven that it is impossible for our brains to do multiple tasks at
the same time, we still seem to try. But now that we have so many amazing mini
computer systems working around us, we can now do the multi tasking that our
hearts desire. Our computers can do many processes simultaneously, allowing us to
do many things that we want at the same time. But how do these computers handle
all of these processes and applications at the same time? Well, in short, computer
memory. To describe the way that memory works, I will be explaining a few of the
many components of computer memory and how it is managed. Memory
management is the act of managing computer memory. The topics that I will include
in the paper will consist of the following: Dynamic memory allocation, Virtual
memory, memory leaks and stale references, fragmentation, large memory and cache
systems.
The essential requirement of memory management is to provide ways to dynamically
allocate portions of memory to

The Issue Of Identity Politics
Identity Politics means to separate problems based upon race, class, religion, gender,
ethnicity, ideology, nation, sexual orientation, culture, information preference,
History, musical or literary preference, medical conditions, professions or hobbies. It
is most
Notably be found in class movements, feminist movements, gay, lesbian and bisexual
movements. The
Presidential candidates promise things just to get a vote. They might target the poor
population
Promising to help by assisting with housing, food, clothes, and other essentials. On
the flip side, they might go to other States to where there are more financially fit
individuals promising them the total opposite of what was just promised to others.
Identity politics is a form of Divide and
Conquer , which refers to sociology and economics, a strategy to gain or maintain
power. Since identity political arguments that focus on interest and perspectives of
groups people can identify themselves with, it could be fair to say that not all
members of any given group. For example: sexual orientation, class, religion,
nationality, cultures, and ethnicity are necessary involved in identity politics. Unless,
the identity politicians include the ways in which people s politics may be affected
by these loosely combined factions. Although it can be limited to earlier involvement.
Identity politics has made its way into the 20th century in class movement like
feminist, gay, lesbian, bisexual, disabled, and ethnic movements.

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the analytical methods that are available for
detecting, measuring, and/or monitoring chlorine dioxide and chlorite, its
metabolites, and other biomarkers of exposure and effect to chlorine dioxide and
chlorite. The intent is not to provide an exhaustive list of analytical methods. Rather,
the intention is to identify well established methods that are used as the standard
methods of analysis. Many of the analytical methods used for environmental samples
are the methods approved by federal agencies and organizations such as EPA and the

The absorbance is proportional to the concentration of the chlorine dioxide in water.
Indicators used for this technique include N,N diethyl p phenylenediamine,
chlorophenol red, and methylene blue (APHA 1998; Fletcher and Hemming 1985;
Quentel et al. 1994; Sweetin et al. 1996). For example, chlorophenol red
selectively reacts with chlorine dioxide at pH 7 with a detection limit of 0.12 mg
/L. The interferences from chlorine may be reduced by the addition of oxalic acid,
sodium cyclamate, or thioacetamide (Sweetin et al. 1996). APHA Method 4500
CLO2 B, iodometric titration analysis, measures the concentration of chlorine
dioxide in water by titration with iodide, which is reduced to form iodine. Iodine is
then measured colorimetrically when a blue color forms from the production of a
starch iodine complex. The detection limit for this method is 20 Вµg/L (APHA 1998).

Analysis Of Internal Conflict, The Dark Battlefield
Internal Conflict, The Dark Battlefield
He hesitation or decision making issue within the characters mind is regarded as a
suspense. In Just Lather, That s All , the barber struggled with whether or not to kill
the enemy who now infront of him. In the end, the barber did not want blood on his
hand. Meanwhile, in The sniper, two snipers who were from different sides fought
against each other in a war. While examining the corpse, the sniper discovered that the
enemy was his brother. Also The Black Cat narrates the process of the protagonist
from normal to committing a crime step by step. Internal conflict moves the story s

and it goes on like this until everything is a sea of blond (Tellez 3). When faced
cruel enemy, he should kill him. However, in the barber s view, murder is not the
way to stop violence and war. It only lets the violence continue, with killing the
second, third and so on. This point is the transition of the plot from thinking about
murdering to hesitation. The second thought of the border is that: I do not want

We Shall Remain Summary
1.Having had the opportunity to watch the entire series of We Shall Remain , it is
my educated opinion that United States history books need to be rewritten in order to
display the magnitude in which the founding fathers of the United States were
nothing more than liars, thieves, and murders to the Native Americans. The signing
of the Peace Treaty in March 1621 marked the first of more than 350 Peace Treaties
by the United Statesand Native Americans that would later be overturned by the
United States. It appears that once the Colonists began actually outnumbering the
Wampanoag, the Colonists conceit, gluttony, and bigotry had come to the top of their
agenda and it began to show their true intentions.
It is appalling that over the next two hundred years the United States was determined
to keep expanding its borders, without concern to the Native Americans. When I
think about how Tecumseh, the Shawnee, and many Native Americans were forced
to move from one area to another because the United States Government. The U.S.
fundamentally professed war on the Native Americans by forcing them out of the
areas they occupied for countless years in order to advance the U.S. s monetary gain

American Loyalist Failure
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that contributed to the
failure in the British Southern Campaign in the American Revolutionary war. This
paper will examine British and American Southern Loyalist defeat in the Battle of
Kings Mountain, and discuss assumptions the British made, including loyalists
support, logistics, long rifle, and terrain advantage. It is important to study past
military actions to identify mistakes and apply lessons learned to current U.S.
military operations. Background The Battle of Kings Mountain took place on
October 7, 1780 between the borders of Blackburn, South Carolina and Kings
Mountain, North Carolina. Major Patrick Ferguson, a British commander, led a unit

Campbell and Shelby had successfully surprised Ferguson s men. The Patriots
advanced in a methodical manner and picked off Ferguson s men on the exposed
heights. Ferguson s men returned fire, the Patriots fortunate Loyalists shooting
downhill with their Brown Bess muskets tended to shoot high. (Jones, 2009)
Ferguson countered and ordered a bayonet attack down the mountain. The Patriots
then retreated to the base of the mountain, waited until the Loyalists disbursed, and
returned to the top. The Patriots regrouped and resumed their attack, picking off more
and more loyalist. Both sides repeated this maneuver three times during the battle.
Some of Ferguson s Loyalists ran out of ammunitions. Ferguson realized the
impending loss, attempted a breakout with his men, and advanced. In the attempt to
escape with his men, Ferguson died on the mountain. (Hickman, 2015) The Loyalist
consequently surrendered. The battle lasted an hour. Out of 1,200 men, 300 killed,
at least 120 wounded, and at least 680 taken as prisoners. The Patriots out of the 900
men had approximately 65 wounded and 28 killed. (U.S. Army War College,
A Time For Change Again !
A Time for Change; Again! With the way this election has turned out and the
thoughts that are had by most, change of the election process has come up multiple
times by all kinds of people. We see this is the posts on social media, the protest
that have happened across the nation, and the speeches from politicians to give the
president elect a chance. There are family and friends that are no longer talking to
each other and rules that have been set for holiday gatherings that certain topics are
not allowed in conversation. In talking to people both inside and outside of my
family, I have come to realize that most people do not know how the primary
system works. They do not know the difference between a primary or a caucus or
even how the delegates during this process are divided up amongst the candidates.
The two parts of the process that seem to be questioned the most are the primary
system and the use of the electoral college. Both processes seem unfair and outdated.
I believe a change to the primary system should happen because most Americans do
not get to vote for the candidate they want, the first two states to vote in the primaries
are not representative of the population, and voter turnout is very low due to the dates
and times they are held.
Americans do not always get to vote for the candidate that they want during the
primary election. For instance, states like California who vote later in the primary
election, may find that they are forced to choose

Flannery O Connor Essay

  • 1. Flannery O Connor Essay Crafting an essay on the works of Flannery O'Connor can be a challenging yet intellectually rewarding task. The difficulty lies not only in summarizing and analyzing her intricate narratives but also in grasping the profound themes that permeate her stories. O'Connor's writing often delves into complex aspects of human nature, morality, and the intersection of the mundane and the divine. To write a compelling essay, one must navigate the layers of symbolism and religious undertones that characterize O'Connor's work. Understanding her Southern Gothic style, with its blend of grotesque elements and dark humor, adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. Additionally, O'Connor's characters are often morally ambiguous, making it crucial for the essayist to explore the nuances of their motivations and actions. Moreover, addressing the broader context of O'Connor's life, the societal issues she grappled with, and the religious influences that shaped her work can further complicate the essay-writing process. Connecting these elements cohesively while presenting a fresh perspective requires in- depth research and analytical skills. Despite the challenges, the opportunity to engage with Flannery O'Connor's profound literary legacy is a journey worth undertaking. It demands a thoughtful exploration of her unique storytelling, an appreciation for the complexities of her characters, and a keen understanding of the cultural and religious backdrop against which her narratives unfold. • 2. Of Studies By Francis Bacon Summary Life Lessons (An analysis of Francis Bacon s Of Studies and the three messages derived from it) Studies serve for Delight, for Ornament, and for Ability (Lynch). Those are the three purposes of studies in the eyes of a man by the name of Francis Bacon. Francis was just absolutely brilliant, and is easily considered one of the smartest men who has ever lived. During his time, he was a philosopher as well as a scientist in the United Kingdom. He was best remembered for his classic essays, and one of his finest ones was Of Studies. Francis Bacon, the first major English essayist, comments forcefully in Of Studies on the value of reading, writing, and learning (Nordquist). In Francis Bacon s Of Studies, there were a few take home messages that could not be overlooked. First of all, Of Studies provides us with the take home message that, studies develop into habits. This idea is one that stood out to me the most due to its accuracy, especially in sports activities. Before any one person can go participate in a game of basketball, they must first study the rules and learn about the game. For instance, a person could learn to dribble on his own with two hands and then go attempt to play with others, but they will be quick to tell him that what he is doing is against the rules. The poor boy would have no idea why what he is doing is wrong, and this is why we all must study before being actively involved in something. Practice can make permanent because by repeating ways of acting, a young person forms habits (patterns of recurrent behavior) for good and for ill (Pickhardt). Now when you study before participating in events, you have a much better chance to develop good habits and succeed. Most certainly, Francis Bacon hit the head on the nail in Of Studies, with the message that knowledge is power. Knowledge sets us free, and makes us less dependent on others (Rai). Freedom is truly the first step to obtaining real power, which derives from the knowledge we obtain. Knowledge really provides people with a feeling of self fulfillment and confidence, which in hindsight will boost your self esteem. We could be at any point in our lives, but if we have knowledge then people are going to respect us for

Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly s life cycle consists of four parts: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. Butterflies comprise the true butterflies (superfamily Papilionoidea), the skippers (superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). As Lepidoptera, butterflies have four wings that are covered with tiny scales (see photo). The fore and hindwings are not hooked together, permitting a more graceful flight. An adult butterfly has six legs, but in the nymphalids, the first pair is reduced. After it emerges from its pupal stage, a butterfly cannot fly until the wings are unfolded. A newly emerged butterfly needs to spend some time inflating its wings with blood and letting them dry, during which time it is extremely vulnerable to predators. Some butterflies wings may take up to three hours to dry while others take about one hour. Most butterflies and moths will excrete excess dye after hatching. This fluid may be white, red, orange, or in rare cases,

In the author s own words, The combination of lower energy prices, innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics and materials science are powering a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold words considering the recent financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there enough evidence to back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Several news outlets are reporting gains in manufacturing operations such as increases in labor and use of factory space. Using this information, I hope to describe the elements used to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and utilities in the U.S. reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national average from 1980 until now is 79.4 percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity utilization since June 2008. (Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more efficiently, manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory space are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within the United States. However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means because most of the data suggests this is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t changed any aspects of business. Although, if this upward trend continues, we can expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more made in the US products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t paid to forecast so my essay ends here. According to CCPS Department of Communication, in 2012, the county, state, and nation s graduation percentage was 53.63%, 72.5%, and 81%. Even though the graduation quota at state and national level are distinctly larger than Clayton County s, increasing the students interest in their learningenvironment and creating tutoring halls will certainly aid in the progression to elevate graduation rate. As he backed up out of the parking space with one hand on the steering wheel, I looked in the direction of my car. I wondered if we were going to his house or a nearby hotel. When I unbuttoned my pants and slid them down over my hips, he watched me. I gave him a little smile and took off my blouse next. Come here, he commanded, as he stood up with a very erect penis. Judicial review can be defined as the judiciary, in the exercise of its own independence, checking and cross checking the working of the other organs of the government, while trying to uphold the ideal of the rule of law . Judicial activism more reformist in character is often confused with judicial review. However, it took till 1920 when the first serious attempt was made in Australia to make judicial review a reality. Many countries like Germany also have strong Supreme Courts which reflect public opinion and can review laws.5 Most civilian law countries, however, do not have their judiciaries interfering with the legislative process and believe in the separation of powers but not in the checking of unlawful use of power. • 10. Imaging Of Musculoskeletal Disorders And The Early 1900 s... Imaging of musculoskeletal disorders began in the early 1900 s with the invention and utilization of radiography and fluoroscopic equipment (McKinnis, 2014). Evolutions in imaging now allow for clearer digital recorded images of fluoroscopy, radiographs, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (McKinnis, 2014). From the beginning, imaging has not been an isolated or sole diagnostic tool. The clinician s expertise in the evaluation process, the comprehensive evaluation and assessment of the patient, documented and reported patient history, associated signs and symptoms, and the additional medical test results along with red flags must be taken into account when considering referral for imaging (Dutton, 2012; McKinnis, 2014). There are several clinical prediction rules and guidelines, which have been created to assist health care providers in managing the utilization and prevention of inappropriate imaging (Dutton, 2012; Gan, Harkey, Hemingway, Hughes, Duszak, 2016; Gidwani et al., 2016; McKinnis, 2014). Based on the aforementioned information, not all spinal patients will require or should receive spinal imaging. MRIs and other forms of imaging can produce false negatives, false positives, and reader interpretation and assessment errors, therefore the results of a MRI or any other form of imaging should not be the sole reason for any diagnosis or intervention (Dutton, 2012; Fu et al., 2016; Gan, Harkey, Hemingway, Hughes, Duszak, 2016; Gidwani et

The symbols are things such as the green light, weather, eyes, but the one that stands out the most is color. Specifically, the color yellow pops up in many situations, and appears on different objects to give insight to how the characters will be affected at that time. Yellow has many meanings some main ones are: how money can affect people, to caution characters that danger is afoot, and to protect certain characters. During the 1920s money was the revolving factor of everyone s lifestyle whether an individual has money or not he/she always desired more. At Gatsby s party Nick sat down at a table with two girls in yellow (43). Having the girls in yellow shows how people want to fit in with the wealthy part of society. ABSTRACT Lean Six Sigma approach is recognized widely and has been implemented predominately in manufacturing rather than other industries. To illustrate the point, this paper draws attention to the adoption of Lean Six Sigma in various industries with a case study. The combination of Lean tools and Six Sigma methodology is used to improve the process and quality by eliminating the variations and creating workflow in a process. Six Sigma can be defined as a statistical measure of the performance of a process or product (Kumi et. al., 2006). It is used as a quality control mechanism, which seeks to reduce defects or variations in a process to 3.4 per million opportunities thereby optimizing output and increasing customer satisfaction (Sambhe, 2012). Sigma is representing the standard deviation, a unit of measurement that designates the distribution or spread about the mean of a process (Six Sigma Academy, 2002). In addition, the Six Sigma uniquely driven by close understanding of customer needs, disciplined use of fact, data, and statistical analysis, and diligent attention to managing improving, and reinventing business processes (Pande, P., et. al. 2000). The Six Sigma methodology uses statistical tools to identify the factors that matter most for improving the quality of processes and generating bottom line results. Making reference to relevant reading, review factors which may influence the behaviours that you have identified. • 18. The Earthquake Of Central Nepal 1. Introduction A Mw7.8 earthquake struck the Gorkha region of central Nepal on the 25th April 2015 (11:56 am local time). The initial tremor was followed by a series of Mw 6 aftershocks including a Mw7.3 event on the 12th May 2015. Together, this series of earthquakes have been termed the Gorkha earthquake sequence (Collins and Jibson, 2015). The Mw7.3 aftershock killed an estimated 160 people, which is in addition to a ~8,600 death toll for the main Mw7.8 event (Kargel et al., 2016). Up to 6% of these deaths were attributed to the secondary hazard of landsliding (CEDIM, 2015). Furthermore, Gardner depicts persistent examination, and last endorsement, of existentialist perspectives as one watches that the principle character, Grendel, is an existentialist. His annihilation of Unferth imprints the typical pulverization of valor, at any rate in his mind; Such a great amount for courage, he finishes up (90). Indeed, even Grendel s presence would appear to invalidate the ideas of the Shaper, who lectures the excellencies of honor and fearlessness. By what means would he be able to slaughter illogically consistently, convey so much distress and torment to people, but nothing happen to it? That was what they were being called in America the boys who had lost their homes and families because of the war and had wandered, lost, for weeks or months at a time before reaching the refugee camps (91). Linda Sue Park wrote a novel based on one of these boys called A long walk to water. Salva Dut was a boy alone in Sudan and becomes a survivor by also becoming a leader, adapting to situations, and overcoming dangerous obstacles. Salva was a lost boy in a big world that had many problems, but he overcomes them by helping others as a leader (91). Salva s uncle was the leader of the group he was staying in and he shared all the food he got to the group, but it seemed they had all forgotten that, for now Salva now had to beg for scraps, which were given grudgingly (67). Salva was alone now because his uncle was killed in the war, so after he died, the group did not treat him with the same respect that Salva had to his uncle. Much later, after Salva became alone again and was left to fend for himself, Salva had become the leader of a group of about fifteen hundred boys (80). After Salva got older the group looked to him to lead them to the new refugee camps because the camps in Sudan were closing. As Salva became the leader of the boys he didn t just walk with them, he helped them personally Salva would talk to them, encourage them, coax and persuade them (81). Salva was a true leader because he actually helped the group like his uncle by talking to them, sharing with them, and showing them the way to get what they need, he also showed them how to adapt to situations. Salva was one of the many who faced multiple situations in America and to overcome them he adapted to them. Salva was in so many camps that he heard the aid workers talk and get a little english down but after so many years in the camps, Salva could understand a little english (86). Michael was an Irish aid worker that helped Salva a little english and teach him some letters to memorize. Salva had gone to America because he was chosen to go now Salva s arms were piled with new clothes. Underwear, socks, sneakers. A pair of long pants. Also this image of DiMaggio reminds him he must be very strategical, and do everything right, despite any cramps in his hand. There is hard evidence that shows that DiMaggio symbolizes the old man. Previously Joe DiMaggio had been struggling in his profession of baseball, due to a bone spur in his heel. The whole team struggled because DiMaggio was the main hope to the Yankee s team. Now in the case of the old man, who had previously struggled to catch a fish because of his newly developed unluckiness, struggles in his life because he has not caught a fish and in turn, has no money to buy the necessities for life. Well as soon as DiMaggio picked up his game and started to play at a whole new level, the old man hooked into a great big marlin, and started a fight that would change his life. As did the old man out struggle and out think the fish even though he suffered from a temporary cramp in his left hand. The key success factors in the dessert wine segment have been the placement of this product. Supermarkets, corner liquor stores, and warehouse clubs all carry it. These wines were the beginning of Gallo and it was not until the late 70 s that Gallo started producing premium wines and wine coolers. • 30. Gender Roles And Sex Segregation In The United States Gender roles play a huge part in society. Gender plays a role in shaping an individuals identify and beliefs. It also helps identify what is masculine and what is feminine. Certain tasks, duties, and jobs are classified by gender. However, gender appropriate behavior should not be enforced in our society for numerous reasons and can be seen on an individual level and be demonstrated by social learning theory and sexsegregation. Within and across different cultures, we can find great consistency in standards of anticipated genderroles. In the United States, like many other countries, males are expected to be independent, assertive, and competitive. Females are expected to be more passive, sensitive, and supportive. For example, when a woman gives birth, she is the one that is expected to stay home and take care of her children while the father goes to work and is the breadwinner for the family. In society, it is more acceptable and common to see the women stay home and take care of the house and children while the husband goes to work instead of the other way around. Stay at home dads are not as common as stay at home moms. However, it is up to the individuals on what they decide as a couple. Because of this, gender appropriate behaviors can be seen because of sex segregation and starting at young ages. Sex Segregation, according to Erving Goffman (1977) is far from total, and is a more complex and dynamic process than the portrayal of separate worlds. He

Whether true or not these so called urban legends tend to circulate throughout society thriving on each individual s fears and curiosity. What most people don t realize is, within these tales lies the attitudes and values of a community. These tales do not survive throughout the years solely on the basis of their entertainment level, but due to the fact that they reflect society s fears and anxieties. In dissecting these tales one can indefinitely find the social fallacy against females that has existed for decades, as well as the fears women have against men. However, more importantly, the values that society hold are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not very often, because it is uncommon. Males are accepted to be able to protect themselves against such crimes, because they are strong physically and mentally. This tale also implies that females often play the role of the victim while males are the perpetrator of these violent crimes. The predator male seeks and stalks its innocent female prey. If Jane was a man then the story would seem less frightening and interesting. However she is a female whose antagonist is a demented and neurotic male, thus greater fear and anxiety is created. This dominant attitude, though sexist, is a recurring theme that has existed in our society for centuries and continues to prevail till this day. The theme of violence is a popular route for most urban legends. Violence can mean the threat of one s life to the threat of one s innocence. Society dearly values life, whether due to religious or cultural influences life is sacred and precious. Thus when hearing of others life threatening stories it gets the heart racing. That could happen to me. This connection is immediate because it asks for no suspension of belief. That is, it is very possible that the tale has some truth to it and that the actions of the tale are quite believable, distinct, and real. This dissertation investigates various insights from previous studies about how employees make investment, saving and manage their retirement plans. The purpose of this study understands the behavior adopted by the individuals while making economic decisions and the reaction of the market towards these decisions. Past studies demonstrate that majority of employees make little savings towards while others make poor choices and other use their accumulated investments quickly when they retire. The behavioral basis for these trends is overconfidence, restricted regulation, and so forth. Providing detailed understanding on the reasons why employees do no attain ideal results of their retirement plans, presents practical basis for policymakers and sponsors in charge of designing, controlling an assessing organisations that offer financial security when employees retire. Bond Market The bond market is one of the fixed income markets that it is deals in with transaction of long term fixed income securities. Moreover, the bond is one of the financial instruments and then the financial instruments are generally regarded as securities. In the bond market, there are two bonds familiar to mass investors. One is called government bonds, and another one is called corporate bonds. Firstly, as its name, government bonds are issued by government with maturities up to about 30 years. Usually, medium term bonds and long term bonds pay out fixed amounts of coupon payments in semi annually during the repayment period. But, the index linked bonds pay out alterable amounts of coupon payments in semi annually because of the changes in inflation. The reason of government bonds are always have a lot of attraction to investors is that investors are generally referred to government bonds as bonds being free from default risk. With this characteristic, government bonds are safer than most other financial instruments to invest. However, the high return always with the high risk and vice versa that government bonds offers lower yields. IB Chemistry Lab Report Design Example Effect of Temperature on Solubility of Potassium Chloride in Water Research question How does temperature affect the solubility of potassium chloride in water? Hypothesis As the temperature of water increases, the particles of solid Potassium chloride, KCl, which are absorbing energy from its surrounding, start moving more easily between the solution and its solid state because. According to the second law of thermodynamics, the particles will shift to the more disordered, more highly dispersed solution state. The use of different syringes for the extraction of the Potassium chloride and distilled water solution from each beaker avoids the possibility of contamination in the case where the same syringe was used in all 6 beakers. The needle of the syringe should be placed at the midpoint between the surface of the solution and the bottom of the beaker upon extraction. This is because of it were placed at the surface of the solution some air particles might enter the syringe, and if it were placed at the bottom of the beaker some undissolved particles might be extracted, thereby leading to an increase in the actual concentration of the dissolved salt. The weight of each 50ml beaker (used for weighing the mass of dissolved Potassium chloride after the evaporation of water) should be recorded. If the experimenter were to weigh the mass of one beaker and take it as a default mass, the latter may be a source of error. In order to minimize errors and to place the solutions in the same environment, the same volume should be extracted from each solution using the syringes. After heating the extracted solution in the 50ml beaker for weighing purposes, some of the water might condense back into the liquid state (in the form droplets), thereby leading to an increase in the calculated weight of Potassium chloride. Therefore

Computer Systems Working Around Us Today, as a society, we all seem to accept the trend of doing multiple things at the same time because of the limited amount of time we are given on a daily basis. We find ourselves juggling many tasks at once; whether it is time with family, work, or even a favorite hobby, we all have to find time to manage all of these things while maintaining some kind of balance. It can be very difficult today to find time to do all of these things and one way to make it a lot easier is by using computers. While scientifically proven that it is impossible for our brains to do multiple tasks at the same time, we still seem to try. But now that we have so many amazing mini computer systems working around us, we can now do the multi tasking that our hearts desire. Our computers can do many processes simultaneously, allowing us to do many things that we want at the same time. But how do these computers handle all of these processes and applications at the same time? Well, in short, computer memory. To describe the way that memory works, I will be explaining a few of the many components of computer memory and how it is managed. Memory management is the act of managing computer memory. The topics that I will include in the paper will consist of the following: Dynamic memory allocation, Virtual memory, memory leaks and stale references, fragmentation, large memory and cache systems. The essential requirement of memory management is to provide ways to dynamically allocate portions of memory to

The interferences from chlorine may be reduced by the addition of oxalic acid, sodium cyclamate, or thioacetamide (Sweetin et al. 1996).
