Music industry unit evaluation done!
1. Music Industry unit evaluation:
I feel as though I have successfully met the brief by creating a believable new UK band and a
digipak and print advert for them. My work met the legal and ethical requirements as it had
everything it needed on it, such as the barcode, legal information, band name, album name
and song titles. The strengths of my work were a good choice of band name, album name
and song titles, as they all sound like what you would expect an indie rock band’s
album/band/song name(s) to sound like. My models were also a good choice because
together they really did look like a very good indie rock band, cool but not annoyingly
“edgy”, like some modern “rock” bands. In terms of editing, I think it was quite good,
especially on the back cover, which looks really cool and eye catching. On reflection I do
think that, although the front and inside covers aren’t bad or unprofessional, maybe could
have been a bit snazzier and more creative. As well as this, the writing next to the social
media tabs on the print poster annoys me as it is slightly hard to read because I couldn’t find
a colour of font that didn’t somewhat blend into the background.
This unit acted as a good “refresher” to photoshop for me, as I’m not the greatest editor
and hadn’t done it for a while, meaning I’m now a bit more confident when using photoshop
than I was before. Now I’ve (mostly) got to grips with the basics of photoshop, I would like
to develop my skills further so I can make future projects more jazzy, eye catching and
creative.
