Multimedia content based retrieval slideshare.pptgovintech1
information retrieval for text and multimedia content has become an important research area.
Content based retrieval in multimedia is a challenging problem since multimedia data needs detailed interpretation
from pixel values. In this presentation, an overview of the content based retrieval is presented along with
the different strategies in terms of syntactic and semantic indexing for retrieval. The matching techniques
used and learning methods employed are also analyzed.
This is a powerpoint presentation about one of the I.T Based Project which is the Guided Hypermedia Project, it's one of the topics in MS4Ed Educational Technology 2, I hope that this would help pre-service teachers out there and also the ones who are exploring Educational Technology.
As the name implies, multimedia is the integration of multiple forms of media. This includes text, graphics, audio, video, etc. For example, a presentation involving audio and video clips would be considered a "multimedia presentation." Educational software that involves animations, sound, and text is called "multimedia software." CDs and DVDs are often considered to be "multimedia formats" since they can store a lot of data and most forms of multimedia require a lot of disk space.
Computer based interactive media creates a wonderful learning environment that utilizes the power of on screen video and instructions aided by computer processing power.

Week 6 Lecture Summary Teaching with Multimedia and Hypermedia
Anabel Caraza Cruz
Lecture Summary
Multimedia and hypermedia differ in different aspects. The multimedia is a multiple media. It is a combination of media to communicate in multiple ways (still graphics, photos, sound, video, animation, text). The hypermedia is a linked media. It is and interactive media (hypertext, Internet browsers, new media).
Types of hypermedia systems are commercial hypermedia software and authoring tools (design & development). Within the latter are included presentation software, video production and editing systems, hypermedia design & development software, virtual reality environments, and Web 2.0.
Current and future impact of hypermedia on education included increased motivation, flexible learning modes, develops creative & critical thinking skills, and improved writing and process skills.
The design and development procedures follow a sequence of six steps: review existing products, perform research first, storyboard, develop individual frames and segments, add links and/or scripts, and test and revise the product.
Student-developed hypermedia/multimedia projects are evaluated taking into account content, instructional design, organization and navigation, appearance, graphics, videos, and sound.

Teaching with Multimedia and Hypermedia:
Multimedia is a combination of media to communicate, such as photos, graphics, videos, sound, animation. Hypermedia is linked media and interactive media, such as hypertext, browsers. Two type of Hypermedia Systems are commercial software and authoring tools (design and development).
Impact of hypermedia in education: it is used to increase motivation, to present flexible learning models, to develop creative and critical thinking skills, and improve writing and process skills.
Benefits of the use of Hypermedia: greater comprehension of a problem, more creative solutions, and multiple channels to process information.
Authoring resources (design and development) Audio, Video, Photographs, Graphic images, and Text. Important skills to develop over time: media literacy, using music and art, graphic design and video principles, creativity, and novel thinking, and considering the audience.
How to evaluate student hypermedia projects: Look at content, instructional design, organization and navigation, appearance, and used of graphics, videos, and sound.
Integration Strategies for Web 2.0 Authoring Tools assists student to share reflections on topics, explore community gene.
1. LEARNING A SECOND LANGUAGE WITH MULTIMEDIA AND
HYPERMEDIA MATERIALS
By: M. Bassante
2. MULTIMEDIA: it s the presentation of text, graphics, animations, audio and
video using the computers in an integrated manner. With multimedia systems
nonlinear media are interacting with the user and responds to the inputs of
user. A slide is an example, where information is presented in form of graphs
or animations, sound and video.
3. HYPERMEDIA:It is the use of text, data, graphics, audio and
video as part of an extended hypertext system in which all
elements are related, in that the content is accessible through
hyperlinks. Hypermedia is a subset of multimedia.
4. HYPERTEXT; It is a subset of hypermedia, and can be
developed using specific software, such as Adobe
Flash, Adobe Director and Macromedia Author ware.
5. People who are learning a second language, the goal is to
develop several core competencies that allow them to develop
and maintain social relationships and communicate ideas.
6. The supports embedded in a multimedia instructional
approach should guide what students notice in a word,
sentence, passage, or image, It can also be accomplished
through immediate and focused teacher feedback
7. When students have access to images, sentences, and
pronunciations for vocabulary terms, their comprehension of
the content increases
8. Advance organizers and graphic organizers are effective
ways to facilitate this task because they can provide an
overview of a new topic and visually represent links between
the concepts to be learned.
9. The teacher can also create shared experiences for the entire class
through virtual field trips or other cooperative activities through a
digital multimedia environment
10. In conclusion Multimedia and Hipermedia materials help us to learn
a Second Language in a clear and funny way , making use of
Digital library such as I show in a following image.
