Accounting Standard AASB 112 (Income Taxes) prescribe the accounting treatment for income
taxes. As stated by Leo, Hoggett, amp; Sweeting (2012), transactions undertaken by an entity and
other events affecting the entity have two separate effects, which are current and future tax
consequences. This is because accrual principal is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Development cost is capitalised over future period in determining accounting profit but deducted
in the period they are incurred when calculating taxable income (IAS 12, 2012). This will cause
Gravatt Ltd to pay more taxes in the future. Moreover, the company actually had a deferred tax
liability of $80million. This is considered material when comparing to equity of $570million. Thus,
it should be disclosed in annual report as required by AASB 1031.
2.2.3 Tax losses Directors believed that neither current tax liability nor a deferred tax liability
was necessary as the company was making tax losses because of huge allowable deductions
available for exploration and development costs. According to Leo, Hoggett, amp; Sweeting
(2012), tax loss provides future deduction for the company, hence deductible temporary
difference exists and deferred tax asset arises. In facts, Gravatt Ltd had an income tax expense of
$24.3million instead of tax losses if it followed the accounting standard. This might be due to its
taxable income was still more than tax deduction after considering the development costs.
Therefore, argument of directors is invalid as according to AASB 112, tax loss arises when a
company s tax deductions exceeds its taxable income.
2.3 Information utility to users of financial report of deferred tax liabilities AASB 112 provides
disclosure requirement in relation to tax in general purpose of financial statement prepared for

Assess Sociological Explanations Of The Benefits Of Social...
All of a sudden, I found myself thinking sociologically when I started wondering about how get
payed differently. As a society we have set up many barriers around people that makes them feel
that they have very little that they can do. We have divided society into social classes that
arranged from the upper class to the middle class then lower class. These classes that are set
make some people feel like they are at a disadvantage when it comes to many things. After having
a long thought about this I think that removing the social classes will be very beneficial to many
people. Some the rich people will say that they like how it is now because they are getting lots of
benefits from the social classes and that it s not their fault they have more than others.
The social classes have been a part of history for a very long time. When we look back into
history we see that the social classes has been around for more than 5,000 years. It changes but it
never goes away. I think that taking it away will open up more chances for people who are not
privileged enough to do certain things because knowledge and wealth is power. When you have the
money you can have any kind of education that you want. The rich have ... Show more content on

Karl Marx (1818 1883) wrote there were two great classes which are the owners who are the
ones who opens the businesses and then the workers who only know how to work. He said the
since the owners know the businesses they can decide how much the workers get payed and
since the workers need the job they can t choose not to work. To me I think that if the owners
were to give out some of their money that can be put to setting up places that will allow the
workers to put their children into learning so that they can also help improve on what is been
done. Doing this will help us build a better society where anyone can come up with an idea then

Using Kerberos Integrated Windows Authentication Adapters
1) One principle of error reduction is to reuse information already in the computer whenever
possible. Describe an experience where you had to re input information that should have been
stored and reusable.
From my experiences as a software developer, reuse of information already existing in the
computer can exist in situations such as logging into different applications using the same user id.
For example, I had to sign in to my windows workstation and then again sign into different
applications like sales force, security central, IBM web sphere administration server console etc..
This was time consuming and also annoying. I had to re input my employee ID into all the above
applications and had to sign in before using them. Currently, ... Show more content on

The product of ad hoc analysis is typically a statistical model and a analytic report (Ad Hoc
Analysis, n.d.). They are also used to create a report that drill deeper into the static report to get
details about the accounts or records.
The main goal of ad hoc reporting is to empower end users to ask their own questions of the
company data. Ad hoc reporting stands in contrast with managed reporting, in which the technical
user and the report developer create and distribute the report (Ad Hoc Reporting, n.d.).
3) Discuss why both manual procedures and computer integrity controls are required to prevent
fraud.
Computer Integrity controls include processing control on application programs, network access
security on browser and internet transport, input and output controls on input and output devices,
operating system security, data encryption over data and internet transport. Manual procedures
include physically counting stuff, checking transactions manually, checking consistencies between
two related things, random checks etc.
Following are the factors affecting fraud risks and tips to counter these factors (Procedure Manual,
2013):
Separation of duties it is countered by creating separated forms, access controls for all tasks of
requesting, approving and generating expenditures. This technique uses control on application
programs.
Inadequate audit trails for this, transaction logging is to be included and also ability of manipulating

Solving The Highest Level Of An Interest Approach
1. Creating a felt need is a saying used to explain the highest level of an interest approach. This
term is best explained by a desire to know more. The felt need interest approach forces students
to take action, contains a provocative situation, and challenges students to a higher level than the
lower level interest approaches. A felt need is successfully created when the students feel
personally connected to the lesson to follow (Moore, 2015). 2. In a Principles of AFNR course I
plan to use an interest approach that relates to problem solving and critical thinking. I will play the
song, That s the Night the Lights Went out in Georgia. The students will be asked to listen to the
song with the instructions of trying to determine the murderer, narrator, and victim. At the end we
will compare answers and discuss the importance of paying attention, listening to context clues,
and thinking deeper before making certain decisions. I think this will be an effective interest
approach because it puts the students into a provocative situation and forces them to make a
decision (Moore, 2015). Because most students relate well to music, they will feel a personal
connection that will lead them to being interested in the lesson. The second interest approach I
plan to use relates the food topic in Principles of AFNR. I will have the students list what they had
for breakfast, lunch, dinner. They will then take each food item and write down where they think it
came from. I will then ask

The Dark Stories By Sylvia Plath
Do you ever wish you could take the worst moment of your life and experience it like it never
happened? In Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer that is exactly what happened to five teenagers. These
teens attended the Wooden Barn a school for the fragile. Casey, Sierra, Griffin, Marc, and Jam
were all chosen to be in an odd class, Special Topics English. Mrs. Quenell their teacher had
chosen the dark stories by Sylvia Plath the only author they were going to read the semester.
When the students finally began to use their journals they were given, they began to experience
this state of Belzhar. The students were whisked back to the time of their life where they had not
experienced their trauma. Each of these students went through something like Sylvia Plath that
differentiated them from normal teens but because of Belzhar they were healed emotionally.
Sierra s brother was missing, Jam s boyfriend had died, and Casey is paralyzed but they got
through it thanks to Belzhar. Sierra Stokes is from Washington, DC and loves her little brother
AndrГ©. One night he went to the store to buy and never returned. Sierra s family was
devastated and Sierra was constantly contacting the detective even three years later. When Sierra
went to Belzhar she experienced time with her brother. Worst of all no one really knew what she
was going through. In Sierra s final time in Belzhar she had to experience losing AndrГ© again
and she could not leave him, so she stayed in Belzhar. Sierra was found in what

Coming Of Age Throughout Mississippi
Deandra Green
Professor Joshua Jeffers
United States History II
3 November 2015
Coming of Age in Mississippi The book Coming of Age in Mississippi goes into detail about a
very prominent time in United States history. The book takes us back to a time where the issue of
civil rights began to rise eventually reaching its peak marking this an unforgettable time in history
for that generation and for generations to come. During this time the south in general was already
a tough place to be in, but the in the Deep South things were even worse, which is where the story
takes place. Not only was race a huge issue other things factored into these trying times such as
huge levels of poverty, and various acts of violence. Although all of these factors played a crucial
part to the make up of the Civil Rights Movement, the one that stands out the most is prejudice
with the other factors such as unfair gender roles and poverty falling suit behind. Anne Moody
shares different stages of her life throughout the book, starting from her childhood documenting life
changing events all the way through her adult life. We learn in the beginning that Moody had
many difficult times during her childhood. From her home life to the way she was treated outside
of her home. Her family was torn apart when she was young, and for many children that can be
extremely tough leaving a life long impression. Moody s father left, basically abandoning them
during a time where they should have been getting

The Caliph Harun Al Rashid
Aside from this general emphasis on the value of cleverness and intelligence however, the story of
the Caliph Harun al Rashid and his much exalted qadi Abu Yusuf also highlights an interesting point
about religion and the works to follow or otherwise remain within the confines of certain religious
mandates while simultaneously being able to pursue whatever personal ends one desires. Though
the qadi claims that the actions of the Caliph all fall within accordance with the Qur an and the
teachings of Islam, the series of events required to allow the Caliph to consummate a marriage
with the slave girl which involve such workarounds as the ordering of her marriage to a male
slave in order to divorce them and avoid the three month period of legal purification (Schroeder,
1955) required for sexual conduct, as well as ordering the male slave to become the property of
the girl in order to annul their marriage when the male slave refuses to divorce her on his own it
certainly seems that these actions probably violate the spirit of the law, even if they avoid
violation of the letter. The story itself makes a somewhat humorous and sly mention of this fact
towards the end of the tale, confirming that as to the expiation of the oaths, Abu Yusuf s ruling
would hardly be confirmed by jurists of the Shafi i school, (Schroeder, 1955) but noting that Abu
Yusuf treated it in accord with the views of his own, the Hanafi school. In other words, whether or
not the actions of the qadi

Inequality And Oppression
The aim of this essay is to address the problem of inequality and oppression through three separate
texts, The Second Sex, The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage. The Second Sex focuses on the
woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts
that describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these
texts and how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each
mean. Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand.
Oppression is the state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined
as lacking equality, equality is the state of being equal especially in status,... Show more content on

Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be
this other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of
women is different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to
man and yet man has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are
the absolute and women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the
inequality of minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected.
Racism is strong and deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after
constant unjust treatment, it is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a
passion for freedom. I think a passion for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for
freedom can be connected to each author. A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent
otherness women have faced and continue to face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in
pay and the way women are viewed. Simone de Beauvoir s text brought up important and relevant
inequalities women and minorities face. Patricia Williams text focusing on the inequality blacks
face is relevant and important. Again a passion for freedom from oppression and inequality should
be expressed. By Patricia Williams continually

Article Summary of to Spin a Yarn Essay
We can begin to explore the lineage of women as tale tellers in a history that stretches from
Philomela and Scheherazade to the raconteurs of French veillees and salons, to English peasants,
governesses, and novelists, and to the German Spinnerinnen and the Brother s Grimm. (53 54) In
the chapter To Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tale
from Fairy Tales and
Society: Illusion and Paradigm, Karen E. Rowe explores the depth and history of voicelessness of
women and how the combination of spinning and tale telling was their way of speaking in a
society that would not let them. She takes the reader on a tale of a complex history that starts in
ancient history with the Greeks, goes to the French, the English, German and... Show more content

Spinning is an ancient practice, showing up in biblical writings, such as in Proverbs expressing
a spinner as a virtuous woman. She who spins is the model of the good woman and wife and
presumably in many cultures of the subservient woman who knows her duty that is to remain
silent and betray no secrets. (57) Philomela takes something that is so harmless and domestic
and uses it to speak and break the silence that has been enforced upon her, speaking in another
mode. This mode she is familiar with and has grown up doing. Ovid s account of what happened
to Philomela is without a doubt a retelling, taken from a woman s narrative through the medium of
weaving. This is also how fairy tales are regarded in later centuries, and Philomela became the
prototype for female storytellers in later traditions. We move on to Arabian Nights, in which
Scheherazade is the character of interest. Most people read this book as a tale of masculine
adventures, and tend not to notice who is behind the telling of these tales. Scheherazade is a hero in
the fact that she saves both virgins from slaughter and the King from his madness after he vows to
marry virgins and kill them the next morning. She keeps him entertained with stories, stopping her
tale midway through in the evening with a promise to finish it the next night. After a thousand and
one nights, he realizes that she is pure and tis changes his mind about women. In this story,
Scheherazade seems to represent the

The Absurd Nagel Analysis
The Absurd Jourdan P Response Nagel believes that a myriad of the public have been impelled
to believe that their lives are meaningless or absurd due to the face that what happens now won t
matter in a million years. Nagel argues that our lives will not matter in a million lives and
therefore the lives we live are absurd. Nagel disputes that even if this is true, that shouldn t give
us the perception that our lives our absurd. He explains this by restating that our lives will not
matter in the future and in that case then what happens in the future does not matter now. I agree
his premise because we won t be alive in the future, a million years, so it is irrational to live life on
a daily basis as if it did. Nagel concludes that due to above... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He claims that many activities in life, presently, require a chain of justification, i.e. When I feel
thirsty, I drink. If this chain of justification continuously led to another justification, it would be an
infinite regress. This leads the reader to accept that it should end in life if anything else at all. Yet,
Nagel still believes that our lives our absurd and gives several reasons that he thinks support this
idea. Nagel depicts that the sense that life as a whole is absurd comes from the realization that we
are incapable of dispelling doubts, even towards things we are inherently sure about. This leads us
to learn that if we can t rid ourselves of these doubts, we are unqualified to justify our most central
commitments, and in turn without a justification to our most central commitments, our lives are
absurd or meaningless. Nagel claims that with this information, we can come to the conclusion that
life is absurd and how should we handle this? Nagel ends it with a simple answer, sub species
aeternitatis, nothing matters. Remarkably, sub species aeternitatis, it does not matter that sub
species aeternitatis, nothing matters. By recognizing the situation, there is no longer a need

Comparative Essay Comparing Frankenstein And Splice
Both Frankenstein by Marry Shelly and Splice directed by Vincenzo Natali have a common theme
between them, both of their horror develops a result of neglectful parenthood. This occurs when the
Creators abandon their creations, show abusive tendencies and treat them as a lesser creature. In
Splice, the scientists treat their creation as if they were a pet or an experiment. They do not regard
their emotions, which leads to Dren ends up raping Elsa. While similarly FrankensteinVictor
neglects his Monster, he illustrates his unwillingness to create a companion for The Monster which
results in The Monster going on and murdering his family. Specific instances from the stories
include the moments in Splice when Elsa and Clive Move Dren around in a box and when Elsa
cuts off Drens stinger. In Frankenstein, the first moments of The Monster s life when Frankenstein
cannot look at The Monster out of disgust and when Frankenstein rips apart The Monster s mate.
These actions all display poor parenthood which inevitably lead to the horror.
The First poor act of parenthood in Splice is the transportation of Dren in a box. In the film Elsa

elements of civilization, her dress and make up. Then she removes her stinger and takes away
her phallic symbol and symbolically castrates her. This horrendous act Elsa commits is never

Kill Garden Pesticides Experiments
Abstract: In this experiment, I want to investigate the effectiveness of different organocides in
their ability to kill garden pests. I am interested in testing this because all of the organocides
claim to be organic pesticides. This means they are safe for use on plants and contain natural
ingredients. Since they are made with all natural ingredients and do not contain any harmful
chemicals, I want to see how that will affect their ability to kill insects. My investigation will
expand knowledge in this area by determining what type of organocides are most effective in their
ability to kill. The fungus Beauveria Bassiana will be the most effective in killing garden pests
because of its ability to create spores that will spread quickly from... Show more content on

Insecticidal soaps have many advantages when compared to other insecticides. They are
inexpensive to use, are among the safest pesticides, leave no harsh residue, are natural products
that are virtually non toxic to animals and birds, and can be used on vegetables up to harvest
(Williamson). Most beneficial insects are not harmed by soap sprays. Soaps are fatty acids that
can degrade or dissolve the protective layers of the insect cuticle, causing the insect to desiccate.
Insecticidal soaps kill by suffocation. They disrupt the cellular membranes of the insect, and they
remove protective waxes that cover the insect, resulting in dehydration (Williamson). Insecticidal
soaps are considered nontoxic to humans and many beneficial insects, but selectively kill certain
pest insects (Murray 6). Insecticidal soaps breakdown easily in the environment, and therefore
they do not stay in the environment (Pundt). It is less likely that resistance to insecticidal soaps
will develop as quickly as to the more traditional pesticides. Resistance within the insect tends to
develop more quickly with materials that have a very specific mode of action (Pundt). My
investigation will expand knowledge in this area by determining what type of organocides are most
effective in their killing ability. It

The Mousetrap Car Project
When we began the project, The MouseTrap Car project, we originally split up the workload
between our idealistic engineer, Justin Phan, and our mechanical builder, Beckett Wanamaker. Our
engineer was in charge of designing each of the potential sketches and our sketches include three
designs. Design 1, the bike, was a mousetrap car based off of the engineeringdesign of a bicycle.
The bike would have two main wheels, one in the front and one in the back. The design would also
consist of two more smaller wheels, one wheelattached on each side of the car similar to training
wheels . This model was designed to be the safest of the three and was going to give our group a
safe way of building a car that might not be the prize winning design but... Show more content on

Our consult was from Anthony DeGenova and he was able to give us the best design, his
design, for the project. After evaluating all of the potential designs from Valerie Nguyen,
Christopher Martinez and Anthony DeGenova, we decided to go with Anthony DeGenova s
simple design. This design is a simple aluminum 10 inch rod that extrudes from a CD on one end
and another CD on the other end. Each CD is approximately 1 inch in from the end of the rod.
The rod is hollowed out to provide minimum weight which allows for the mousetrap to give
more power to the mechanism. This design allowed for a quick build that gives the best results
according to the previous engineers that did this project last year. I completely defend this idea
because it allowed for our group members Beckett Wanamaker and Justin Phan to efficiently and
quickly build a model that represents a better version of DeGenova s model. Our model is more
efficient than DeGenova s because it uses less glue and tape to allow for a smaller and lighter
model and an aluminum rod which allows for the maximum weight to be barely under 4

Why I Want To Write A Personal Essay On Tractoring
As a small, rural town in Montana, Fairfield has helped me to find who I am and what I am
supposed to do with my life. I have seen many teachers give up their personal time to help students
who need help, or maybe need a shoulder to cry on. I have seen parents go to important games to
watch other students when the students parents were not able. Watching the teachers around me
during my life in Fairfield has inspired me to become one of the unselfish people. As I have helped
younger students with either schoolwork and/or life struggles, it has given me a sense of
accomplishment. Whether I was at Greenfield or here in Fairfield, I have seen the same thing,
teachers who want the best for their students and will do anything to get them there. Some of the
service I have done at Fairfield High Schoolis tutoring students, working the concessions during
home games, and managing for the boys basketball team. I have found great joy in all of the
service activities I have done at the school. Even if it were waking up an hour or two earlier than
usual to go to a highway cleanup, or going around the town to pick up trash.

newspapers to be on a normal standard distribution; stating that daily demand will have a mean of
500 newspapers per day with a standard deviation of 100 newspapers per day. Using the function

To find the optimal profit level, you would set $10 = to the marginal benefit, or: $10= ((0.8 *50)
/ (2h)) and solve for H which = 4 hours. C. Using a table to compare the difference between
problem #1 and problem #2, respectively, we can see the obvious differences between the optimal
stocking quantity and daily expected profit figures.
| Stocking Quantity| Daily Expected Profit| 1| 584| 331.44| 2| 685| 371.33|
The stocking quantity and expected profits are higher in the second scenario because of the extra
time spent to improve the quality of profile section. By spending the extra time to improve the
profile section, Anna Sheen increased the overall quality of her newspaper, which will, most likely,
lead to an increased probability of demand for her newspaper around the area. This increased
demand will raise Anna Sheen s stocking quantity and the daily expected profits that are associated
with that individual stocking quantity.
Problem #3 A. Assuming the number of hours Anna Sheen will spend developing the profile
section will = 4; Ralph Armentrout s optimal stocking quantity is 516, as portrayed in the table
below: Stocking Quantity| Daily Expected Profit| 513| 62.131| 514| 62.139| 515| 62.143| 516|

In both his works of fiction, A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Greenleaf , Flannery O Conner
paints a rather grim picture. The protagonists in both the short stories share several common traits.
In the story, A Good Man Is Hard To Find, the Grandmother, who remains unnamed throughout, is
a vile woman, who is also selfish and a complete hypocrite. Yet, she continues to judge other
people for what she perceives to be their shortcomings. She is a woman who has seen hardships,

efforts, discarding the efforts put in by the rest of the family and the farm help. Her rise from
penury to the success of her farm makes her oblivious to the fact that she had help. Instead, she
sees this as an opportunity to put on airs and tell the world of her prowess in business. She brags
about herself being penniless and inexperienced when she first came about the rundown farm, and
takes great pride in the fact that the farm is now successful. She not only forgets the contribution
of the farm help, but blames them of being against her. She even goes on to the extent of blaming
the elements of being against her. So engrossed is she in her own success that she forgets that it is
only the elements of nature that allow the farm to be successful. She also forget the help of Mr.

Why Your Brand Should Be On Users
Why your brand should be on Snapchat...
When Snapchat first launched, it quickly gained a lot of bad press. In 2014, 4.6million of its user
s personal details were leaked, with usernames and partial phone numbers being made available
online. This was in addition to the controversy already being created by users who latched onto the
quick photo gone forever premise to share their personal moments... unfortunately for the app, it
didn t take long for others to recognise the ease of a screenshot. Suddenly Snapchat was being
lambasted across all media for poor security, enabling bullying and encouraging users to send
images that they wouldn t want shared.
I m not here to spark a debate over this well covered subject again. It s in the past. 2014 is a long
time ago in the digital landscape. I m here instead to convince those of you who still see Snapchat
in this light that things have changed. Better still, I m here to make you realise why you should be
using Snapchat for your brand.
To whet your appetite, here are a few Snapchat facts:
Snapchat s 100 million users share over 400 million Snaps daily. That is more than images being
loaded to either Facebook or Instagram
There is an average 9,000 Snaps being shared every second
Mark Zuckerberg has twice tried to purchase Snapchat, once for $1bn, and a second time for $3bn.
Both times the offers were rejected
Snapchat generates an average 10 billion video views per day
54% of Snapchat users will use the app daily

Adoption Debate
When we speak about adoptions, we commonly think about a couple going into a legal contract
to care for a child that they themselves did not bear or we may think about a pet. With both of
these cases there are careful considerations that we need to take into account. For a child the
parents to be may be thinking about if they want a boy or a girl, what kind of diapers and
formula to purchase, and how to furnish the room, just to mention a few things. For a pet we will
take into consideration the species and the breed. Do we want a dog, cat, fish, snake, and what are
the implications of having that pet. What is the best type of nourishment, shelter, and care is
widely researched. If we spend so much time researching all of these things for children and pets;
why are we not spending the time that we need in researching our plants? After all, without the
proper shelter, nutrition and care plants will not be able to flourish.... Show more content on

This raises the question: How is this possible? In order to understand the validity of the statement
we must first understand our past. If anyone were to state that there is an African influence in
Egyptian history most of us would not think to challenge this statement due to the close proximity
of Egypt and Africa. When you take that into account, it would be hard to grasp the concept that
there would be an African influence in America before Columbus due to the distance in between
Africa and America. It is interesting to know that the negroid element is well proven by the large
Olmec stone mountains (Sertima, 1976 p. 21), therefore we must take into account that there was
an African influence in America before Columbus had arrived. For many of us this is a hard
concept to grasp, after all it does go against everything we were taught in history class as a

There are many alternatives product such as fax, email, and internet which enhance the bargaining
power of buyer to the mobile service provider.
For the moment, high level of competition between the major telecommunication companies that

provider. Customers are highly price sensitive and easy to switch brand. It also means that
customer will not be faithful to Maxis if they find out other brand provides better services than
Maxis so they will change brand.
As a result, this contributes to concentration of the buyers industry. Besides this, the buyers have
high switching cost in this industry. As a result, the industry is more profitable when the buyers

Promises of liberation were made by Japan but after a few years, it was clear that Japan did not
wish for Burmese autonomy. Recognizing this fact, Aung San hurried quickly to negotiate a
deal with the British. He convinced the British to give them their national freedom if they were

Since these care givers are the first people that a child interacts with, and are often the primary
interaction for a child until the beginning of school, they are inherently the sole role model for a

the same way that their initial care givers have voted. By this logic, if a child grows up in a

How Did Classical Music Influence Mozart s Life
Most people, when they hear the first notes of Symphony No. 40 in g minor, instantly recognize

Over the past decade, the Department of Defense (DoD) has transitioned from its older public
switched telephone network (PSTN) network to an almost total Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

lower costs than the traditional PSTN infrastructure. However, VoIP systems also represent a higher
complexity in terms of architecture, protocols, and implementation, with a corresponding increase
in the potential for misuse. This case study examines the current state of affairs on DoD VoIP

A signaling protocol, such as session initiation protocol (SIP), performs the legwork: locating users,
call parameters, modifications and building or ending a session. A media transport protocol, like

VoIP communication can take occur on both LANs or on WANs, as is the case with internal

they are fully aware of it or not. As a result, some children feel forced to conform to the
stereotypical gender roles and identities defined by society. For me, however, that was never a
problem.
The many experiences I faced throughout my childhood played a significant and defining role in the
shaping of my gender identity. As a young child my favorite toys were dolls and stuffed animals,
and quite often my parents found me setting up tea parties or playing house. While my parents did
provide me with cars and other gender neutral toys, I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although most of the time it was never a major problem, as we got older we found that we had
increasingly less in common due to the kinds of toys we played with and our differing interests
overall. He was into trains and anything sports related, whereas I loved arts and crafts and playing
with dolls. While we were always able to find something to do, it was if we had to cross a barrier of
discomfort to get to that point. In a sense, it was almost like those other toys were foreign to us.
As a child, I was under the impression that as a girl you wore dresses, loved the colors pink and
purple, and played with dolls. I am not sure if that was because those are the thing I chose to do
as a child, or if it was a result of the things I was surrounded by and heard while growing up,
although it was probably a combination of both. I distinctly remember the day my mom asked
me whether I wanted to take ballet or soccer. I adamantly told her that I wanted to take ballet
because soccer was for boys. She told me that both boys and girls played soccer, however, that
didn t change my mind. I was a girlie girl, and I don t believe anything anyone could have done
would have changed that. In third grade, there was a boy in my ballet class. While we were told
by our ballet teacher that many boys take dance classes, many of us girls found it strange at first.
He continued dancing at our studio for a few years, and I later

Therapeutic Leadership Skills
There are several leadership skills that are needed to run an effective and therapeutic group. The
primary skills are cutting off; drawing out; and holding, shifting, and deepening the focus (Jacobs,
2016). As the group moves into the middles stage sessions other skills can be beneficial for the
leader (Jacobs, 2016). These skills include use of progress reports, introducing topics, inspiring
thoughts, changing the format, varying the style of leadership, restructuring the group, varying the
tone of voice, utilization of resources and projects, meeting one on one with the members, and
communicating with the group prior to the groups ending (Jacobs, 2016). This skillcan aid in

I am often very engaged with speaking with people and have a hard time taking a step back and

Leaders bring their own vulnerabilities, blind spots and misapprehension into the group; they
are human (Cole, 2013). Leadership is present to provide support and connectiveness in order to
explore feelings (Cole, 2013). The leader needs to recognize their own vulnerabilities, and that
these vulnerabilities are okay and accept these as part of the leadership of a group (Cole, 2013).

The New Deal and the Civil Rights Legislation of the 1960 s
The New Deal of the 1930s and the civil rights legislation and movements of the 1960s were very
different in what they did, but shared a common goal of bettering the country when they were
introduced, and making the country better in the future. The New Deal of the 1930s and its
programs were able to help millions of Americans get their feet back on the ground after the Great
Depression. Civil rights legislation of the 1960s helped African Americans get the respect and
equality they deserved after slavery had been eradicated. Prior to the 1960s, there were a few
attempts to pass civil rights bills. During the early 1960s, many believed it was time to finally
pass civil rights bills that would make a serious impact on the country as a whole. The goal of
civil rights legislation was to completely desegregate the blacks and whites, and had a vision of
peace of equality. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted a demonstration, or protest, of the situation of the
blacks and whites to be held in the most segregated city in the United States, Birmingham, Alabama.
The Birmingham March took place between April and May of 1963. The protests and rallies were
both peaceful and nonviolent. However, the police got tired of the daily protests and arrested
hundreds that they found to be responsible for taking part in them and used unnecessary force, such
as high pressured water hoses. As a result of these protests, President Kennedy made an
announcement speaking out against racism

The Key to Being a Vegan
For hundreds of thousands of years humans were hunter gatherers, living off the sources of the land
for necessity. Only ten thousand years ago did the human species discover agriculture and the
domestication of other species. The welfare of domesticated animals, used for their exploitation of
products, has drastically diminished since the industrial revolution. Animals are now able to be
mass slaughtered and crammed by the hundreds into cold, metal buildings, quite opposite to their
natural habitat of grass covered feels. Not only are the animals being exploited in horrendous
conditions, they are fed better than the eight hundred and fifty million people in the world how are
suffering from severe undernourishment (worldhunger.org). The animal agriculture business
accounts for a staggering fifty one percent of the greenhouse gas emissions every year (peta.org).
With the all the astounding information on the topic of inhumanity in the animal exploitation
world, has left people with the question, Is cutting out animal bi products worth it? There is a
small, yet growing, number of people who have agreed to cut out any and all animal bi products, be
that in food, cosmetology, or fashion. Individuals who have taken the pledge of veganism can be
comforted in their health, ethics, and humanity. The key to a healthy, nutritionally sound vegan diet
is variety. A healthy vegan diet consists of fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, whole grains, seeds,
and legumes

Walt Disney s Intellectual Property Rights
Sophie s business name needed to be unique enough where it doesn t actually infringe on any of
Walt Disney s intellectual property rights. Even though he name is not exactly Walt Disney and the
title of her business is DisneyHartford , the fact that she still included Disney in her title is a
problem. When you think of the word Disney , you automatically think of children s entertainment;
as a result, this goes to show that consumers typically link the word Disney to a specific origin.
Since the purpose of her business was to make an entertainment center for children, she is violating
their rights because both companies are too similar. Consumers will assume that her entertainment

situation because she was not a part of the contract initially.
Property refers to tangible and intangible items. Ownership is a concept that means the right to
exclude others (pg. 233). Goodwin secretly owning properly without disclosing this information
with other people or students to the least is a little sketchy. However, I guess if they legally do
own this real property than Sophie has to give it back to them. The legal system protects the
right to own, acquire, protect and divest of real and personal property (pg. 235). If they have
never sold this properly it still belongs to Goodwin. It was her fault that she purchased this
property without researching it. Sophia is also at fault for purchasing real property without
getting a title that the properly belonged to her. Ownership rights are transferred by titles (pg.

ownership towards it so it still belonged to Goodwin. Sophia got herself involved with a scammer.

State Of Ww2 ( Background )
State of WW2 (Background)
By 1945, the war between the Allies and Germany was slowly reaching its end. To the west, Nazi
leader Adolf Hitler s desperate counteroffensive against the Allies in Belgium s Ardennes forest
had ended in a total failure . As well as in the east, it looked very hopeless for Germany
(History.com Staff.). Meanwhile, the Western Allies began considering the use of strategic bomb to
fight against Germany s stubborn defense. In January 1945, the Royal force began to consider
plans for the widespread bombing of cities in eastern Germany against Dresden and two other
cities(Hickman, Kennedy.). Also on February, the three leaders of the Allies, Franklin Roosevelt,
Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill met at Yalta in the USSR and compromised on their visions of
the postwar World (History.com Staff. Bombing of Dresden. ). The background is very significant
because it shows the initial cause of the bombing of Dresden.
The Yalta Conference
The topic of area bombing certain parts of Germany to end the World War II was finalized in the
Yalta Conference. The conference involved the Deputy Chief of the Soviet General Staff, and
General Aleksei Antonov . They had a talk about the possibility of area bombing Germany and the
possible cities they would target if they were to bomb them. Some of the targets they discussed
were Berlin and Dresden. In the end, they ended the meeting with the final decision to bomb
Dresden even though much of Dresden s industry

Internal System Unit Components:
Central processing unit
A processor or also known as a micro processor is a small chip that goes inside a computer and
some other electronic devices. The job of a processor is very important as it has to receive input
and provide the appropriate output. This component can handle trillions of calculations per second.
The main processor in a computer system is called a central processing unit which handles all the
simple instructions that the computer gives. For example it gives instructions for processing output
features like the mouse and keyboard and running applications. The processor fits on the
motherboard and is known as the heart of the computer system as it controls everything that takes
place in the computer system. The central processing unit contains the circuitry which processes the
instructions in the computer programs by interpreting them into actual movements of bits of data
within the computer memory. Motherboard
The motherboard is the most important component within a computer system. The motherboard is
a printed circuit board where the majority of the essential parts of the PC belongs. Connections
between the actual PC and peripherals go through the motherboard. The motherboard houses
components like the CPU, RAM and other hardware components. BIOS

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay
In Achebe s book, Things Fall Apart , the life of a Nigerian man named Okowkwo is depicted. At
first look, it may seem that Okowkwo s story is the main theme of the book, but upon further
examination it is easy to see that the plight of his indigenous Igbo people are the main theme
representing what really fell apart.
Achebe introduces the reader to the intricate culture of the Igbo people from the earliest chapters in
the book. He describes rituals, laws, and religion of these people with great attention to detail
allowing the reader to further understand and identify with the Igbo people on a personal level. An
example of this is the tradition of kola nut and how it is shared when welcoming someone into a
home. Achebe writes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His punishment for this is a seven year exile for his entire family. For the reader this presents as
a sign that things are about to change and that the dynamics of the book are heading in a
different direction. At this point the reader may believe that this is the turning point in the
book, but it is merely a sign of things to come. Achebe also provides readers with another sign of
things to come in the destruction of Abame, a neighboring village located near the village of
Okonkwo s exile. A white man arrived at Abame and was later killed by the people of the Abame
village who feared he would bring about the destruction promised by the Oracle (Achebe, 1994).
The destruction of the Abame village is Achebe s first signal to readers that the people of the Igbo
may never be the same. After the destruction of Abame, missionaries arrive in Mbanta to spread the
message of their Christianity bringing along with them, the English government system (Achebe,
1994). Achebe describes the arrival in such a manner that the reader can visualize the distinct
differences between the two groups of people. The Christians are visibly more modern with a
religious foundation that is extremely different from that of the Igbo people. They also bring with
them laws that function in no way close to the Igbo culture s form of crime and punishment. When
Okonkwo hears this news he feels like

Essay On The World Revolution Of 1968
ORIGIN OF THE UPRISALS
There have been many speculations on the fundamental origins of the World Revolution of 1968.
Although these speculations agree on the background reasons of political protests centering the
year, arguments vary on the attribution to the social changes during the two decades that followed
the World War II. The World Revolution of 1968 was not something that materialized out of thin
air; it was an epicenter of social changes that took place over the course of two decades.
With the great help of United States, the world especially Europe was recovering from the
disasters of the World War II. The status quo of the west seemed on the way to restoration if not
actually already rejuvenated. The stimulated economic growth saw many young adults pursuing
their studies to university level as the world strived to survive the aftermath of the World Wars.
The endeavors to move forward and focus on ensuring the sustainability formulated a silent
consensus to give way to peaceful prosperity and low tolerance to any fabrications of war. Thus,
the continual engagement of wars definitely exhausted the world system into an arena of a period
of basically crafting the main characteristics of the then ensuing Cold War.
The era was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Primo Levi s Quaestio De Centauris
Primo Levi s Quaestio de Centauris centers on Trachi the centaur and his relationship with the
narrator. Between these two characters, a friendship forms: Living together causes them to grow

at a climactic moment, and here we see a great shift occur. One day Trachi expresses that he has
feelings for Terese, a family friend of the narrators, but later the narrator goes away and has sex

This story is entirely linked by Trachi, because if you were to remove this central figure, there
would be no relation between these events. Trachi s existence is relied on to tell the story. He is
the reason Levi spends much of this story detailing the history of Centaurs. Then Trachi links us
to the person speaking. This story is a string of episodes all linked by Trachi, they are not linked
by outside actions or causes. For example, the way that we get from the blacksmith to the
veterinarian or the story of the great flood to the first centaur birth is Trachi. These moments are
linked by this one person. However this story is not merely episodic, there is more to the story.
Upon picking apart each individual episode, it becomes clear that these single events contain a
more unified action. One example is the episode about the great flood. Once you pick apart this
moment we can see how each episode contains a unified action. This instance begins by saying
that an ark was built because a great flood was coming. Since everything died in the flood, the
deceased formed a fertile mud around the earth, and this caused a great ecstasy where life and love
sprung forth. This meant that new species could arise, like the centaur. By sectioning off each
episode, the speaker is able to craft similar motifs within them. For example, the motif within this
episode of new creatures being

The Effects Of Food Irradiation Practices On The United...
Overview of the history of food irradiation practices in the United States from World War II era to
the end of the 20th century, and speculation about its future commercial prospects. Researchers in
the United States and Great Britain filed patents in 1905 for using ionizing radiation to kill food
borne bacteria (Spiller, J. (2004)). Therefore, food irradiationhas over 100 years of history.
Food irradiation (the application of ionizing radiation to food) is a technology that improves the
safety and extends the shelf life of foods by reducing or eliminating microorganisms and insects (
U.S. Food and Drug Administration 1). If food is not irradiated correctly, there may potentially be
health hazards.
The process where food is exposed from nuclear sources consists of food irradiation, which is
limited to high energy gamma rays, X rays and accelerated electrons. Ionizing is source of
radiation because of the high energy free electrons from atoms and molecules. The electrically
charged particles are converted to ions. Microwaves are example of gamma rays. Accelerated
electrons can transfuse to treat the food only to a depth of three centimeters. Due to thickness of x
rays may pass through the food.
Radiation dose is the quantity of radiation energy bored by the food as it passes through the
radiation field during processing. Needless to say the radiation for
poultry and meat were approximately 800 1400 times that dose, of fruits and vegetables. A
radiation dose of about

Orientation Of Intrauterine Chord Attachment
Orientation of Intrauterine Chord Attachment in Equine Effects On Viability
According to the Jockey Club Registry for Thoroughbred horses, horses are given the birthday
of January 1 on the year of birth (Jockey Club). Producers are looking to maximize production of
pregnancy and look to have mares foal at or after January 1 to give their colts an age advantage
while racing. Because of the 11 month gestations of the mare, this means she must be bred between
February and March to achieve a foaling date on or after January 1. During the low day light levels
in the February and March, melatonin secretions from the pituitary are increased, which will inhibit
the kisspeptin neurons as well as GnRH secretrions from the hypothalamus and in turn will inhibit
ovulation (Maquivar, 2016). Producers have overcome this and have used light stimulation and
hormone therapies successfully in stimulating estrus during the normal anestrus period. The next
step towards creating reproductively efficient mares is to study the orientation of placentation and
chord attachment from the fetus to uterine walls and chorionic villi and determine if position can
effect the viability of the fetus.
Dependence from the oocyte and embryos in equine have been found to be more dependent upon
follicular factors and intrauterine attachment than ever before. The mare s unique gestation begins
from the point of ovulation, the ovulation fossa (Maquivar, 2016). The mare will reach a luteinizing
hormone (LH) peak

Gojira Symbolism
As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954,
director Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear
weapons play out. Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of
the monster as the atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners
viewing the film. The film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic
attacks that took place almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of
nuclear weapons by the United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons
and the censorship that encased Japan after the United States occupation. As... Show more content

Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties
over the threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued
use and testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the
United States dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the
United States dropped another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo FukuryЕ« Maru, and its
crew to high amounts of radiation. (Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening
scene of Gojira, a scene that would be recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like
many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized
that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by
showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship laws under the occupation. This censorship did
not allow media to criticize the United States, (Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly
made a film of the aftermath of the United States attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There
was no outlet for these concerns because this, which lingered even after they left the country, hence
why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his

It wasn t until 1972 that Diana Kennedy s work helped popularize the phrase Tex Mex .Tex Mex
food is found all across the US and some of Mexico, but there are a few specific locations where
it is extremely popular. Often times, Tex Mex food is associated with the cuisine of the
southwestern united states, where Tex Mex is the most popular. Tex Mex is most obviously
found in the state of Texas because it is part of the name. The cuisine is also found in other states
than Texas. The states where it is most popular include Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Utah. Tex Mex is also a very apparent cuisine in northern Mexico
near the border. However, the further you go into the heart of Mexico, you will find less and
less Tex Mex style food. In most of Mexico, there is, what we Americans call, authentic Mexican
food. Of course, there will still be some authentic Mexican restaurants in the US too. There are
many restaurants in our own community that serve Tex Mex and Mexican style food, and many
of them are labeled as Mexican . Restaurants that use those labels are On the Border Mexican
Grill and Cantina and QDOBA Mexican Eats. Other Tex Mex Restaurants include Tex Mex,
Roscoe s Tacos, Nada, and Moe s Southwest Grill. Even though Indianapolis is long ways away
from Mexico, we still have authentic Mexican restaurants too. Some of those would be Guerreros

As stated by Leo, Hoggett, amp; Sweeting (2012), transactions undertaken by an entity and other events affecting the entity have two separate effects, which are current and future tax consequences. This is because accrual principal is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Development cost is capitalised over future period in determining accounting profit but deducted in the period they are incurred when calculating taxable income (IAS 12, 2012). This will cause Gravatt Ltd to pay more taxes in the future. Moreover, the company actually had a deferred tax liability of $80million. This is considered material when comparing to equity of $570million. Thus, it should be disclosed in annual report as required by AASB 1031. 2.2.3 Tax losses Directors believed that neither current tax liability nor a deferred tax liability was necessary as the company was making tax losses because of huge allowable deductions available for exploration and development costs. According to Leo, Hoggett, amp; Sweeting (2012), tax loss provides future deduction for the company, hence deductible temporary difference exists and deferred tax asset arises. In facts, Gravatt Ltd had an income tax expense of $24.3million instead of tax losses if it followed the accounting standard. This might be due to its taxable income was still more than tax deduction after considering the development costs. Therefore, argument of directors is invalid as according to AASB 112, tax loss arises when a company s tax deductions exceeds its taxable income. 2.3 Information utility to users of financial report of deferred tax liabilities AASB 112 provides disclosure requirement in relation to tax in general purpose of financial statement prepared for ... • 3. Assess Sociological Explanations Of The Benefits Of Social... All of a sudden, I found myself thinking sociologically when I started wondering about how get payed differently. As a society we have set up many barriers around people that makes them feel that they have very little that they can do. We have divided society into social classes that arranged from the upper class to the middle class then lower class. These classes that are set make some people feel like they are at a disadvantage when it comes to many things. After having a long thought about this I think that removing the social classes will be very beneficial to many people. Some the rich people will say that they like how it is now because they are getting lots of benefits from the social classes and that it s not their fault they have more than others. The social classes have been a part of history for a very long time. When we look back into history we see that the social classes has been around for more than 5,000 years. It changes but it never goes away. I think that taking it away will open up more chances for people who are not privileged enough to do certain things because knowledge and wealth is power. When you have the money you can have any kind of education that you want. The rich have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Karl Marx (1818 1883) wrote there were two great classes which are the owners who are the ones who opens the businesses and then the workers who only know how to work. He said the since the owners know the businesses they can decide how much the workers get payed and since the workers need the job they can t choose not to work. To me I think that if the owners were to give out some of their money that can be put to setting up places that will allow the workers to put their children into learning so that they can also help improve on what is been done. Doing this will help us build a better society where anyone can come up with an idea then that idea can be improved on by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Using Kerberos Integrated Windows Authentication Adapters 1) One principle of error reduction is to reuse information already in the computer whenever possible. Describe an experience where you had to re input information that should have been stored and reusable. From my experiences as a software developer, reuse of information already existing in the computer can exist in situations such as logging into different applications using the same user id. For example, I had to sign in to my windows workstation and then again sign into different applications like sales force, security central, IBM web sphere administration server console etc.. This was time consuming and also annoying. I had to re input my employee ID into all the above applications and had to sign in before using them. Currently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The product of ad hoc analysis is typically a statistical model and a analytic report (Ad Hoc Analysis, n.d.). They are also used to create a report that drill deeper into the static report to get details about the accounts or records. The main goal of ad hoc reporting is to empower end users to ask their own questions of the company data. Ad hoc reporting stands in contrast with managed reporting, in which the technical user and the report developer create and distribute the report (Ad Hoc Reporting, n.d.). 3) Discuss why both manual procedures and computer integrity controls are required to prevent fraud. Computer Integrity controls include processing control on application programs, network access security on browser and internet transport, input and output controls on input and output devices, operating system security, data encryption over data and internet transport. Manual procedures include physically counting stuff, checking transactions manually, checking consistencies between two related things, random checks etc. Following are the factors affecting fraud risks and tips to counter these factors (Procedure Manual, 2013): Separation of duties it is countered by creating separated forms, access controls for all tasks of requesting, approving and generating expenditures. This technique uses control on application programs. Inadequate audit trails for this, transaction logging is to be included and also ability of manipulating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Solving The Highest Level Of An Interest Approach 1. Creating a felt need is a saying used to explain the highest level of an interest approach. This term is best explained by a desire to know more. The felt need interest approach forces students to take action, contains a provocative situation, and challenges students to a higher level than the lower level interest approaches. A felt need is successfully created when the students feel personally connected to the lesson to follow (Moore, 2015). 2. In a Principles of AFNR course I plan to use an interest approach that relates to problem solving and critical thinking. I will play the song, That s the Night the Lights Went out in Georgia. The students will be asked to listen to the song with the instructions of trying to determine the murderer, narrator, and victim. At the end we will compare answers and discuss the importance of paying attention, listening to context clues, and thinking deeper before making certain decisions. I think this will be an effective interest approach because it puts the students into a provocative situation and forces them to make a decision (Moore, 2015). Because most students relate well to music, they will feel a personal connection that will lead them to being interested in the lesson. The second interest approach I plan to use relates the food topic in Principles of AFNR. I will have the students list what they had for breakfast, lunch, dinner. They will then take each food item and write down where they think it came from. I will then ask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Dark Stories By Sylvia Plath Do you ever wish you could take the worst moment of your life and experience it like it never happened? In Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer that is exactly what happened to five teenagers. These teens attended the Wooden Barn a school for the fragile. Casey, Sierra, Griffin, Marc, and Jam were all chosen to be in an odd class, Special Topics English. Mrs. Quenell their teacher had chosen the dark stories by Sylvia Plath the only author they were going to read the semester. When the students finally began to use their journals they were given, they began to experience this state of Belzhar. The students were whisked back to the time of their life where they had not experienced their trauma. Each of these students went through something like Sylvia Plath that differentiated them from normal teens but because of Belzhar they were healed emotionally. Sierra s brother was missing, Jam s boyfriend had died, and Casey is paralyzed but they got through it thanks to Belzhar. Sierra Stokes is from Washington, DC and loves her little brother AndrГ©. One night he went to the store to buy and never returned. Sierra s family was devastated and Sierra was constantly contacting the detective even three years later. When Sierra went to Belzhar she experienced time with her brother. Worst of all no one really knew what she was going through. In Sierra s final time in Belzhar she had to experience losing AndrГ© again and she could not leave him, so she stayed in Belzhar. Sierra was found in what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Coming Of Age Throughout Mississippi Deandra Green Professor Joshua Jeffers United States History II 3 November 2015 Coming of Age in Mississippi The book Coming of Age in Mississippi goes into detail about a very prominent time in United States history. The book takes us back to a time where the issue of civil rights began to rise eventually reaching its peak marking this an unforgettable time in history for that generation and for generations to come. During this time the south in general was already a tough place to be in, but the in the Deep South things were even worse, which is where the story takes place. Not only was race a huge issue other things factored into these trying times such as huge levels of poverty, and various acts of violence. Although all of these factors played a crucial part to the make up of the Civil Rights Movement, the one that stands out the most is prejudice with the other factors such as unfair gender roles and poverty falling suit behind. Anne Moody shares different stages of her life throughout the book, starting from her childhood documenting life changing events all the way through her adult life. We learn in the beginning that Moody had many difficult times during her childhood. From her home life to the way she was treated outside of her home. Her family was torn apart when she was young, and for many children that can be extremely tough leaving a life long impression. Moody s father left, basically abandoning them during a time where they should have been getting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Caliph Harun Al Rashid Aside from this general emphasis on the value of cleverness and intelligence however, the story of the Caliph Harun al Rashid and his much exalted qadi Abu Yusuf also highlights an interesting point about religion and the works to follow or otherwise remain within the confines of certain religious mandates while simultaneously being able to pursue whatever personal ends one desires. Though the qadi claims that the actions of the Caliph all fall within accordance with the Qur an and the teachings of Islam, the series of events required to allow the Caliph to consummate a marriage with the slave girl which involve such workarounds as the ordering of her marriage to a male slave in order to divorce them and avoid the three month period of legal purification (Schroeder, 1955) required for sexual conduct, as well as ordering the male slave to become the property of the girl in order to annul their marriage when the male slave refuses to divorce her on his own it certainly seems that these actions probably violate the spirit of the law, even if they avoid violation of the letter. The story itself makes a somewhat humorous and sly mention of this fact towards the end of the tale, confirming that as to the expiation of the oaths, Abu Yusuf s ruling would hardly be confirmed by jurists of the Shafi i school, (Schroeder, 1955) but noting that Abu Yusuf treated it in accord with the views of his own, the Hanafi school. In other words, whether or not the actions of the qadi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second Sex focuses on the woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts that describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these texts and how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each mean. Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand. Oppression is the state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined as lacking equality, equality is the state of being equal especially in status,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be this other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of women is different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to man and yet man has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are the absolute and women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the inequality of minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected. Racism is strong and deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after constant unjust treatment, it is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a passion for freedom. I think a passion for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for freedom can be connected to each author. A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent otherness women have faced and continue to face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in pay and the way women are viewed. Simone de Beauvoir s text brought up important and relevant inequalities women and minorities face. Patricia Williams text focusing on the inequality blacks face is relevant and important. Again a passion for freedom from oppression and inequality should be expressed. By Patricia Williams continually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Article Summary of to Spin a Yarn Essay We can begin to explore the lineage of women as tale tellers in a history that stretches from Philomela and Scheherazade to the raconteurs of French veillees and salons, to English peasants, governesses, and novelists, and to the German Spinnerinnen and the Brother s Grimm. (53 54) In the chapter To Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tale from Fairy Tales and Society: Illusion and Paradigm, Karen E. Rowe explores the depth and history of voicelessness of women and how the combination of spinning and tale telling was their way of speaking in a society that would not let them. Spinning is an ancient practice, showing up in biblical writings, such as in Proverbs expressing a spinner as a virtuous woman. She who spins is the model of the good woman and wife and presumably in many cultures of the subservient woman who knows her duty that is to remain silent and betray no secrets. (57) Philomela takes something that is so harmless and domestic and uses it to speak and break the silence that has been enforced upon her, speaking in another mode. This mode she is familiar with and has grown up doing. Ovid s account of what happened to Philomela is without a doubt a retelling, taken from a woman s narrative through the medium of weaving. This is also how fairy tales are regarded in later centuries, and Philomela became the prototype for female storytellers in later traditions. We move on to Arabian Nights, in which Scheherazade is the character of interest. Most people read this book as a tale of masculine adventures, and tend not to notice who is behind the telling of these tales. Scheherazade is a hero in the fact that she saves both virgins from slaughter and the King from his madness after he vows to marry virgins and kill them the next morning. She keeps him entertained with stories, stopping her tale midway through in the evening with a promise to finish it the next night. The Absurd Nagel Analysis The Absurd Jourdan P Response Nagel believes that a myriad of the public have been impelled to believe that their lives are meaningless or absurd due to the face that what happens now won t matter in a million years. Nagel argues that our lives will not matter in a million lives and therefore the lives we live are absurd. Nagel disputes that even if this is true, that shouldn t give us the perception that our lives our absurd. He explains this by restating that our lives will not matter in the future and in that case then what happens in the future does not matter now. If this chain of justification continuously led to another justification, it would be an infinite regress. This leads the reader to accept that it should end in life if anything else at all. Yet, Nagel still believes that our lives our absurd and gives several reasons that he thinks support this idea. Nagel depicts that the sense that life as a whole is absurd comes from the realization that we are incapable of dispelling doubts, even towards things we are inherently sure about. This leads us to learn that if we can t rid ourselves of these doubts, we are unqualified to justify our most central commitments, and in turn without a justification to our most central commitments, our lives are absurd or meaningless. Nagel claims that with this information, we can come to the conclusion that life is absurd and how should we handle this? Comparative Essay Comparing Frankenstein And Splice Both Frankenstein by Marry Shelly and Splice directed by Vincenzo Natali have a common theme between them, both of their horror develops a result of neglectful parenthood. This occurs when the Creators abandon their creations, show abusive tendencies and treat them as a lesser creature. In Splice, the scientists treat their creation as if they were a pet or an experiment. They do not regard their emotions, which leads to Dren ends up raping Elsa. In Frankenstein, the first moments of The Monster s life when Frankenstein cannot look at The Monster out of disgust and when Frankenstein rips apart The Monster s mate. Insecticidal soaps have many advantages when compared to other insecticides. They are inexpensive to use, are among the safest pesticides, leave no harsh residue, are natural products that are virtually non toxic to animals and birds, and can be used on vegetables up to harvest (Williamson). Most beneficial insects are not harmed by soap sprays. Soaps are fatty acids that can degrade or dissolve the protective layers of the insect cuticle, causing the insect to desiccate. Insecticidal soaps kill by suffocation. They disrupt the cellular membranes of the insect, and they remove protective waxes that cover the insect, resulting in dehydration (Williamson). Insecticidal soaps are considered nontoxic to humans and many beneficial insects, but selectively kill certain pest insects (Murray 6). Insecticidal soaps breakdown easily in the environment, and therefore they do not stay in the environment (Pundt). It is less likely that resistance to insecticidal soaps will develop as quickly as to the more traditional pesticides. Promises of liberation were made by Japan but after a few years, it was clear that Japan did not wish for Burmese autonomy. Recognizing this fact, Aung San hurried quickly to negotiate a deal with the British. He convinced the British to give them their national freedom if they were to fight the Japanese on behalf of the British. The allied powers won and Britain started the process of halting its operations in Burma. Aung San was hailed for his achievement of independence from Britain though the future of Burma was not to be so lucky. Even though he was seen as a controversial figure due to his communist politics, he was able to unite the minority groups of Burma and secure the writing of a constitution, agreeing to officially end British control. In July of 1947, a year before the official independence of Burma, Aung San and most of his cabinet were sadly murdered by an enemy party (Badertscher). For example, the way that we get from the blacksmith to the veterinarian or the story of the great flood to the first centaur birth is Trachi. These moments are linked by this one person. However this story is not merely episodic, there is more to the story. Upon picking apart each individual episode, it becomes clear that these single events contain a more unified action. One example is the episode about the great flood. Once you pick apart this moment we can see how each episode contains a unified action. This instance begins by saying that an ark was built because a great flood was coming. Since everything died in the flood, the deceased formed a fertile mud around the earth, and this caused a great ecstasy where life and love sprung forth. This meant that new species could arise, like the centaur. By sectioning off each episode, the speaker is able to craft similar motifs within them. For example, the motif within this episode of new creatures being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Effects Of Food Irradiation Practices On The United... Overview of the history of food irradiation practices in the United States from World War II era to the end of the 20th century, and speculation about its future commercial prospects. Researchers in the United States and Great Britain filed patents in 1905 for using ionizing radiation to kill food borne bacteria (Spiller, J. (2004)). Therefore, food irradiationhas over 100 years of history. Food irradiation (the application of ionizing radiation to food) is a technology that improves the safety and extends the shelf life of foods by reducing or eliminating microorganisms and insects ( U.S. Food and Drug Administration 1). If food is not irradiated correctly, there may potentially be health hazards. The process where food is exposed from nuclear sources consists of food irradiation, which is limited to high energy gamma rays, X rays and accelerated electrons. Ionizing is source of radiation because of the high energy free electrons from atoms and molecules. The electrically charged particles are converted to ions. Microwaves are example of gamma rays. Accelerated electrons can transfuse to treat the food only to a depth of three centimeters. Due to thickness of x rays may pass through the food. Radiation dose is the quantity of radiation energy bored by the food as it passes through the radiation field during processing. Needless to say the radiation for poultry and meat were approximately 800 1400 times that dose, of fruits and vegetables. A radiation dose of about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Orientation Of Intrauterine Chord Attachment Orientation of Intrauterine Chord Attachment in Equine Effects On Viability According to the Jockey Club Registry for Thoroughbred horses, horses are given the birthday of January 1 on the year of birth (Jockey Club). Producers are looking to maximize production of pregnancy and look to have mares foal at or after January 1 to give their colts an age advantage while racing. Because of the 11 month gestations of the mare, this means she must be bred between February and March to achieve a foaling date on or after January 1. During the low day light levels in the February and March, melatonin secretions from the pituitary are increased, which will inhibit the kisspeptin neurons as well as GnRH secretrions from the hypothalamus and in turn will inhibit ovulation (Maquivar, 2016). Producers have overcome this and have used light stimulation and hormone therapies successfully in stimulating estrus during the normal anestrus period. The next step towards creating reproductively efficient mares is to study the orientation of placentation and chord attachment from the fetus to uterine walls and chorionic villi and determine if position can effect the viability of the fetus. Dependence from the oocyte and embryos in equine have been found to be more dependent upon follicular factors and intrauterine attachment than ever before. The mare s unique gestation begins from the point of ovulation, the ovulation fossa (Maquivar, 2016). The mare will reach a luteinizing hormone (LH) peak ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Gojira Symbolism As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954, director Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear weapons play out. Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of the monster as the atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners viewing the film. The film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic attacks that took place almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of nuclear weapons by the United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons and the censorship that encased Japan after the United States occupation. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties over the threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued use and testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the United States dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the United States dropped another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo FukuryЕ« Maru, and its crew to high amounts of radiation. (Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening scene of Gojira, a scene that would be recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship laws under the occupation. This censorship did not allow media to criticize the United States, (Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly made a film of the aftermath of the United States attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There was no outlet for these concerns because this, which lingered even after they left the country, hence why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Mexican Food Research Paper Page 1 of 5 ZOOM There are about one million foreign immigrants each year that move to the USA, and there were over 42.4 million US immigrants in 2016. The United States of America has many cultures, ethnicities, and nationalities, hence the nickname, the melting pot. From all of the immigrants that the US has taken in over the years, there is bound to be some mixing of religion, cuisine, and other traits that define a culture. Mexico is a bordering country of the United States, and it has an extremely differing culture from most of US. When people from Mexico move to the US, there is going to be mixing of cultures, and even food. Tex Mex, melding of the two words Texan and Mexican, is the combination of Mexican and United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t until 1972 that Diana Kennedy s work helped popularize the phrase Tex Mex .Tex Mex food is found all across the US and some of Mexico, but there are a few specific locations where it is extremely popular. Often times, Tex Mex food is associated with the cuisine of the southwestern united states, where Tex Mex is the most popular. Tex Mex is most obviously found in the state of Texas because it is part of the name. The cuisine is also found in other states than Texas. The states where it is most popular include Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Utah. Tex Mex is also a very apparent cuisine in northern Mexico near the border. However, the further you go into the heart of Mexico, you will find less and less Tex Mex style food. In most of Mexico, there is, what we Americans call, authentic Mexican food. Of course, there will still be some authentic Mexican restaurants in the US too. There are many restaurants in our own community that serve Tex Mex and Mexican style food, and many of them are labeled as Mexican . Restaurants that use those labels are On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina and QDOBA Mexican Eats. Other Tex Mex Restaurants include Tex Mex, Roscoe s Tacos, Nada, and Moe s Southwest Grill. Even though Indianapolis is long ways away from Mexico, we still have authentic Mexican restaurants too. Some of those would be Guerreros Mexican Restaurant, El Azabache, and Fiesta Ranchera ...
