During the developmental stage of the company and the product, the market must be examined the

Teachers and Students -Roles and Relationships
The student teacher establishes a routine that students understand and respect. Activities reflect
careful thought, take into account student developmental levels, learning styles and diversity, and
create situations in which students construct knowledge. The student teacher exhibits respect and
consideration toward colleagues, particularly in team situations, supports colleagues work and
contributes an equal share to team efforts, The studentteacher encourages and elicits interaction
with parents and community and makes herself available to those constituencies when and where
appropriate. She clearly demonstrates leadership in the classroom, guiding and directing activities

This worksheet demonstrates another way I asked my students to construct knowledge; by
examining a document (in this case a difficult, non narrative poem) for its details, to try to sum
those details to meaning (comprehension) and to try to figure out how the student knew how to
sum those details (metacognition). While the practical, classroom end of this worksheet was a
brainstorm regarding the details of the poem and an increasingly specific investigation of the
diversity of potential meanings in the poem, by allowing my students to write before speaking to
gather their thoughts and ideas before even a spoken brainstorm I allowed each of my students to
feel as though they had something to contribute to the class and to the classes construction of a
reading (or a series of readings!) of the poem. Allowing students to chart the known, this activity
ultimately allowed my students to make the leap to charting a small section of ideas that were,
before this activity, unknown. Before students can trust each other enough to share their ideas and
to construct knowledge with each other the teacher must engage students in activities to foster
classroom community. During Brown Summer High School, my co teachers (Jen Fordyce and
Jenny Morse) and I started each of our classes with what we called an AGFA (an Attention Grabbing
Focusing Activity) that had a twofold intent:

Unit 217 Organise and Report Data Essay
Understand How to Organise and Report Data That Has Been Researched. 1.1Describe different
ways of organising data that has been researched. Data is a group of information that are used
for various purposes like analysis, evaluations and to arrive at certain results or conclusions.
Data reporting is a process where data is extracted form a source or many sources and then
converted into a format that can be used for a purpose. It is usually presented in the form of a
report in tables, charts, statistics, and graphs or on spread sheets etc. This data may be used to
arrive at important decisions within the organisation or with external organisations. So the data
report has to be produced in such a way that it meets the aims and... Show more content on

1.3Describe the purpose of presenting data to the agreed format and within the agreed
timescale. The value and benefits of agreeing the format and deadline for data is that everybody
knows what they are doing and when it is due. If you have been given a task to complete, with
details of how it should be done and when it needs to be completed by and there is a different
member of the team who cannot complete their task in till you have completed yours and you
do not get it finished within the time frame and/or it has not be formatted in the agreed way,
then you will hold up the project. This will not show you in a professional light. You will be
considered unreliable, non productive, and could potentially affect your employability. It also
avoids work having to be redone at the last minute if the format is agreed beforehand. Be Able
To Organise Data 2.1 Organise data so that it can be reported Well organized file names and
folder structures make it easier to find and keep track of data files. A system needs to be practical
and used consistently. Without organization, you cannot report data effectively. Good file names
can provide useful cues to the content and status of a file, can uniquely identify a file and can help
in classifying files.

Electronic Arts 1995
Elevator Pitch: This case illustrates the strategic challenges currently faced by one of the giants in
the video game industry, Electronic Arts. It also surfaces the industry s characteristics and
explains us, that in this fast paced tech savvy world, you have to keep running just to stay where
you are. EA, in 1995 is looking for its next move that would maintain its leading position in the
industry. The changes over the past 15 years had led the industry to a very converged sophisticated

My Guest Star Featured Is Sara Picklesimer
Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we
communicate in our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted
by Professor Stephen Stifano focused on this subject and its attributes. Our guest star featured is
Sara Picklesimer, a University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the
University of Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky,
and started off as a biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her
first public speaking course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found
that she actually enjoyed and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and
communication course here at the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music
and a variety of other aspects in relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two
primary topics related to perception: thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in
which we communicate.
Professor Stifano mentioned some of the foundations of perception that we have discussed in our
lecture, including selective attention and perceptual filters. The other aspects revealed in this
podcast are thin slicing and gender. All of these elements tie into each other in terms of
communicating effectively and making decisions, and what make up perception. We learned that
perception is selecting, organizing, and

Slavery In The Ancient Era Essay
Slavery in the Ancient Era
In this magnificent universe created by god which put us humans the only species in the world.
Being the only species, you would think everyone would treat each other equal. Some people treat
other people like they re not the same as them. In the ancient time, for instance in the 4th century,
people were preserved as slaves. Those people were treated way below humans and sometimes even
worse than animals. Slaves were sold to people just like how you would sell things.
They were forced to do hard labor, women s rapped, separated families and their owners did
many other horrendous things to them. Many of the slaves ended up either being killed or their
harrowing lives killed them. The proportion of slaves absorbed by domestic service must at all
periods have been considerable, for by and large, personal servants were always slaves, and they
were employed in numbers which by modern standards seem very lavish. Slavery was an efficient
system back in the ancient era especially in two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these city states profoundly dealt with slavery violently. In Athens, which was a
democratic state, they made decisions by the majority rule. Political oratory suggest that slaves
were regarded as natural enemies of the political order. They were kept in bondage in accordance
with the laws and customs of the city and they were, therefore, expected to hate the system that
maintained their servile status. The citizens in Athens had in mind that the slaves were not that
dangerous, so no one really commiserated them. Even though this may seem like they didn t
belong there, they had no major problems with their slaves. Slaves were to be found in most
households occupied with almost any kind of service, some were trusted to live in their own or
even to take charge of their master s affairs. Athens was actually the only city that treated them less

The Southern Gothic Is A Subgenre Of Gothic Fiction. The
The Southern Gothic is a subgenre of Gothic fiction. The Southern Gothic is best defined as a story
filled with irony, characters who fit the grotesque factor, social issues, violence, southern settings,
decay, outsiders, Civil War, and even slavery and race. Throughout Modern Southern Fiction, these
factors which create the Southern Gothiccan be found in almost every literary work. In the novel by
Dorothy Allison titled Bastard Out of Carolina which was published in 1922, nearly every factor
that plays a role in the Southern Gothic can be found within, specifically the southern setting, social
settings, outsiders, the grotesque, and violence. In Bastard Out of Carolina, the setting in which the
characters reside in is a small town of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None of them are quite the same, in actuality, they are all quite different from one another, but the
one thing that makes them not outsiders to one another is the idea that all Boatwrights look the
same, that is, not all do, which causes there to be some type of outsider feel to some in the family.
The Boatwrights are looked down upon and it stems from the fact that nobody in the town likes
them. There is a grandmother who curses and chews snuff, there are two crazy aunts who dive
into the theory of witchcraft, there is an aunt who ran off with the carnival, there are uncles who
are beating up men left and right, there is Bone s mother who becomes pregnant at fourteen, and
there is even Bone and a cousin of hers who are quiet and that differentiates them from the rest of
the family. One can argue that Bone s mother, Anney, while unlike the other Boatwrights, meaning
that she is not wild and not running off to beat up whoever gets in her way, is the biggest
outsider in the town and causes the most abject social issues. Due to falling pregnant at the age of
fourteen, Anney was instantly looked down upon. The town saw those who gave birth to bastards
as being the worst of anything, therefore when Anney had to go downtown every year to sign the
paperwork for Bone, those who were in the courthouse looked down upon her, but she did not let
that phase her. She was a Boatwright and she was going to hold her

The Street Gang In LETB
In LETB, Harry is scapegoated by the roving street gang. Harry commits the horrendous act of
molesting a young boy, however that is not grounds for dismissing his death as justice according to
Girard s theory. This is further proved because Selby has the street gang murder him. Throughout
the section Strike , they show constant disdain for Harry and use him for beer and food. The
importance of the street gangs role as the scapegoaters , is that they show homosexual tendencies
throughout the novel. However here, they call Harry a freak and abuse him (176). After they
crucify him, they go into the bathroom of the Greeks, seemingly happier than they had been since
they beat a sailor up in Another Day, Another Dollar . In both the incident with the sailor and with
Harry, questions of masculinity and impotence were the forefront causes for the street gang s
violence. This suggests that Selby shows their inability to come to terms with their own
sexuality; and how it is much easier to strike out than accept their feelings, as seen in above in
the chapter on Hypermasculinity . The rape of the prostitute Tralala is also suggestive of this, as
it seems to include most of the males in Sunset Park. They come together to violently rape her,
seemingly to take out their own feelings of inferiority and impotence on her. Like with Girard s
sexually aggressive goat , Tralala is chosen because she is seen as an abject woman. In the
conservative conforming world of 1950s America ,

The Diamond Necklace, By Maupassant
Social classes exists since the years. Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all
the time, while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other
people who move from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual
effort. In the Diamond Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born
poor and was not happy with her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she
tried for all occasion to appear as rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different
ways why Mathilde should recognize and accept her social class and live in the level of her
class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not
depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her class because happiness does not depend
on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her social class to avoid the deterioration
of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend
on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually capacity. People are not respected
because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is determinant in how people will respect
him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was neither caste nor rank, for beauty,
grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant). Since Mathilde had a natural
beauty, she should not care about her class. Her

Similarities Between The Captivity And Slave Narrative
The captivity narrative and the slave narrative are two types of literary works, which were very
common during the 17th and the 18th century. The captivity narrative usually involves an innocent
white woman who is taken captive by an Indian tribe, who the woman describes as savages in most
of the cases. On the other hand, the slave narrative focuses on the quality of life that slaves were
facing before the time of the abolishment of slavery. Although the captivity narrativeand the slave
narrative show some similarities, they are completely different. We can observe the differences by
analyzing two literary works, A Narrative of The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary
Rowlandsonby Mary Rowlandson and From The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah
Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself by Olaudah Equiano. A Narrative of
The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is a narrative written by Mary
Rowlandson herself, which sheds light on her own experiences revolving captivity. The Interesting
Narrative of The Life of Olaudah Equiano gives the reader insight into the life of a slave, the
treatments they endure, and usually their freedom, whether it be through escaping or other means.
Both narratives usually include real life accounts, however, the differences lie in the structure of the
narrative, the purpose that the narrative is trying to lay out and the treatment of the parties who are
living these experiences. To begin, the

As the 19th century rolled into the 20th , WWI was imminent and life was changing. The romantic
era had flourished and passed, impressionistic music was well into its lifespan, but arising from
amid the rubble of the romantic era was the Verismo movement! Verismo was a movement or new
school of thought embodied in the operas of composers like Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo,
Umberto Giordani, Giacomo Puccini. Verismo is virtually synonymous with realism. It was an
attempt made by composers to inject into opera, the real life pains and experiences that so easily
worked their way into drama, poetry and the spoken arts, but seemed to fall short when it came to
opera.

opera. It is said that Mascagni s opera Cavalleria rusticana single handedly ushered in the Verismo
movement.
Premiered on May 17th, 1890, Cavalleria Rusticana is a one act opera adapated from a short
story about a young villager who had returned from military duty to find that his long time love
had forsaken him and married someone else. The young man, Turiddu is furious and takes
revenge by beginning a seductive relationship with another village girl to make his finacee
jealous. His plot is successful, and the rage of jealousy begins when Turiddu once again lies
with his true love in a now adulterous relationship. The story develops into a tangled web of
passion, lust, revenge and hate. The whole town is enraged and look on with curiousity as the
unruly secrets are discovered. The plot comes to a climax when Turiddu, is challenged to a duel
by his lover s husband. As was the Sicillian custom, the two men embrace, and Turiddu proceeds
to bite his opponent s ear, signifying that it would be a duel to the death. The story comes to a
close when Turridu, unsuccessful in his fencing skills, tragically dies. His lover weeps, and his
mother collapses into the arms of the village women in grief. This opera is very short but it
embodies, to the core, the driving passion of Verismo. The heart of the Verismo movement was to

Themes Of Johnny Tremain
Esther Forbes published Johnny Tremain in 1943, when the United States was in the middle of
World War II, in which the United States and the United Kingdom ,yet another way to refer to
Great Britain, were allies. But that s okay because Forbes makes it clear that England is not the real
enemy but the real enemy is any government that threatens the liberty of its people or just doesn t
stand up for them. So, in a roundabout way, Johnny Tremainis partly about the importance of
workman s comp laws. Johnny Tremain, the book and the movie, were very different because of
the events and the characters; and similar because of the plot, and timeline. Johnny Tremain, an
orphan is apprenticed to silversmith Emphraim Lapham. When we meet Johnny, his entire identity
is wrapped up in being a fantastic silversmith. He s career driven since he is only an apprentice,
but he s running his master s shop. Johnny s natural arrogance will always be his downfall, but he
slowly learns to control it, along with his naturally quick temper. From believing that he knows it
all, he comes to realize how much he doesn t know, through his journey through Bostons Sons of
Liberty. He violates the Sabbath laws by working on Sunday, suffers an injury to his hand by
burning it with silver, and that ends his career as an artisan. He then goes to the home of rich

Memo to Martha Stewart, CEO of Martha Stewart Omnimedia
Dear Ms. Stewart,

Omnimedia (MSO). Perhaps the one issue that you are grappling with at present is about the
Imclone scandal. You have been accused of selling $227,000 worth of Imclone stock based on
inside information. Because of these charges of insider trading, your critics have summarily
associated you with other disgraced company directors: Kenneth Lay of Enron and Bernard Ebbers

However, it is perhaps not entirely right to say that your actions, or what you have been accused
of, have nothing to do with MSO. Joan Didion, in her essay Everywoman.com, suggests how
your reputation is integral to MSO, and she quotes from MSO s 1999 prospectus: Our (MSO s)
business would be adversely affected if Martha Stewart s public image or reputation were to be
tarnished (146). Indeed, a New York Times article by Constance L. Hays, dated 1 May 2003,
reports that MSO s total revenue fell 14.6 percent in the first quarter and that the share price,
battered after Ms. Stewart s name surfaced in connection with the ImClone insider trading
investigation last summer, fell another 11.3 percent. One could argue that MSO s poor
performance is necessarily due to the difficult state of the economy at present, but according to
MSO s accounts, your company was in fact posting growing revenue figures until you were
implicated in the Imclone scandal. So as you can see, your public image is closely intertwined with
the survival and prosperity of MSO. Your actions do indeed affect your stakeholders.
Your public image has always

What Is The Real Impact Of Geographical Factors On...
Research Design In examining the empirical data of post Communist reform, I hope to exhibit the
real impact of geographical factors on political and economic reform in an effort to abandon
conventional explanations of this discussion. My intent with this research is to introduce the notion
that spatial issues can be as much of a determinant of state behavior, as any other factor. This is not
to prove that certain explanations are better than others, but rather to underscore the validity in
geographical explanations; even if variables are not exclusively affiliated to the central subject of
my study, they can still hold powerful implications. My research design would organize a

Second, Polity IV offers a much more detailed signal of change than most other indicators of
democracy. The data set ranges from 10 to +10, in which a Polity Score is determined through a
country s placement in one of three categories: autocracies ( 10 to 6), anocracies ( 5 to 5), and
democracies (6 to 10). In this, a 20 point measurement of political class is produced of each
country, every year. To measure economic reform, I chose the Index of Economic Freedom; an
annual index and ranking system created in 1995 through the Heritage Foundation and The Wall
Street Journal. This particular tool evaluates countries on ten economic factors:
1.trade policy6. property rights
2.taxation7. banking

4.monetary policy9. regulation
5.capital flows and foreign investment10. black market

issues of post Communist legacies and overall geographical access namely, how close they are to a

Harold Henthorn Pushes Wife From Cliff Analysis

analyzing the content, format, and context of the article, it becomes clear how Inquisitr conveys
their own message and intends for the crime to be represented in a particular, calculated way. First,
while every news article has content, the important factor in the reporting of this information is the
perspective that the source maintains in telling the story. In this story, Inquisitr s angle relies on the

The context of production and the context of consumption are the two dimensions that are relevant
to the reason the message is being communicated. The fact that the only information about the
writer of the article is a first name at the bottom of the page signifies that who wrote the article is
not significant, but who owns it may be. Inquisitr, the media outlet producing the representation, is
a news website whose goal is to publish the latest trending news and to ensure that readers never
miss the internet s hottest stories. According to the available audience demographics, the most
popular section that readers browse is the celebrity and entertainment section and the site s target

Evidently, Inquisitr is built and branded as a site for the every day internet user. As a result,
substantial, quality news is not the priority, but rather quick and compelling articles that have the
potential to go viral. The story of Harold Henthorn and the death of his wife then is not written as
the tragedy that it is, or even as a legal recount of the case, but as a brief, flashy murder mystery
story that intrigues and engrosses the reader. Production and consumption of a representation,

Changes in Consumer Behaviour Essays
Executive Summary
Consumer behaviours have changed over the years; this is shown by consumers today purchasing
a more healthy variety of products, as information today is known about products that was not
known many years ago. Factors such as these, change the way we perceive and value products, as
we now are more knowledgeable as well as manufacturers having by law to print the ingredients and
content of the products ingredients on the back of most food products, allowing consumers to
become more educated. The typical consumer today watches what they eat; they are more aware

And also in some cases going to the extreme in stating that parents are slowly killing their children
with feeding them specific foods. This is a huge factor that has brought about changes in the way
consumers purchase and behaviour. Other factors are current events, such as when the 9/11 incident
occurred; a lot of patriotic Americans bought and consumed American made products to help the
American economy grow. The American government also put out campaigns to promote American
produced and made products to the public to change the views of consumer purchases. Just another
example of factors that support change in consumer behaviours.
Governments and consumer groups control or filter what information is known about certain
products. The Australian consumers association or ACA produces a magazine that informs
consumers about their rights and about the value and safety of products. The government on the
other hand works in conjunction with the health department to reveal the real truths about products,
such as the smoking campaign, that informs us of what really is in a cigarette and how much
damage it is doing to your body. These groups play a vital role in educating the consumers about
certain truths that need to be made aware to the consumers of today s health concise age.

Ivory Coast Imperialism
The European invasion of the Ivory Coast started in the early 19th century when a group of French
traders created establishments in the country. They obtained territorial concessions from local
tribes. By doing this, they spread French influence throughout the nation to other cultural groups
that existed during the time. During the late 1800s, other European explorers ventured throughout
the Ivory Coast in an attempt to create treaties with local chiefs. By the year 1893, France
colonized the Ivory Coast as their own. (14) Cultural groups of the Ivory Coast were greatly
affected by the colonization of France. These groups were offered no human rights and were forced
to work in mines, on plantations, or to work on public projects. This intensive... Show more content

The first round of voting was against Gbagdo and Alassane Ouattara. The results of the first

palace of the Ivory Coast. Another civil war erupted when militias that supported Ouattara began
attacking Gbagbo s forces. The violence eventually peaked in March 2011. The Human Rights

The Death Penalty And Capital Punishment
The Death Penalty Many people begin their morning with a cup of coffee and the daily news,
whether attained by social media, television, or the radio. News coverage of death penalty cases,
grabs the attention of an audience. The death penalty is an emotional issue for individuals to
ponder. In fact, America s opinion of capital punishmentdepends on its constitutionality, deterrence,
retribution, and the irrevocable mistakes made by sending an innocent defendant to death row. The
death penalty also known as capital punishment is legal in thirty one states and illegal in nineteen
states, to include the District of Columbia, ( History of, 2015.) There has been 1,418 executions in
the United States since 1976, the most recent execution was in Texas on October 2015, (

penalty. Second, consider the pros and cons of the death penalty as a deterrent to murder and
retribution, not revenge, ( Top 10, 2009.) Third, the lethal injection drugs that are available for
some states to use are brought before the U. S. Supreme court because of the complaint of inmates
on death row of the risk of severe pain, ( Lethal Injection, n.d.) The death penalty is an allowed form
of punishment for defendants that are convicted of murder or other capital crimes as long as it does

Analyzing The Movie The Magnificent Seven
A good majority of us have seen Old westerns before. We ve grown to love and know them so
well. They are relics of how life was in the old west and even more show what we think the old
west should be life. The revitalized western movie The Magnificent Seven is only a remake that
shows you everything you love about a western movie, it does not reinvent or add anything special
to the genre.
Usually in a remake movie with up to date actors and even better special effects and editing skills
you would think that it makes the movie better. I ve come to realize now that the old movies we
ve all come to love cannot be made with the same magic a second time. They were for their time
and you lose something when you remake it. For this movie the only thing significantly better was
the camera resolution. Everything else seems to be the same. Especially the epic final battle or in a
western movie it s called the final shoot out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But to the trained eye you start to notice that there isn t anything special about it. The director of
the film Antoine Fuqua basically just uses an old movie and remakes it with actors that we can
connect with because we ve seen them before. There is a scene in the movie where denzel s
character Chisolm shoots up a saloon and kills for a bounty. Chris Pratt makes his interjection and
it s interesting to see these two different actors act together in a space. The only thing interesting
about the whole entire movie is that they have actors from all genres of

The Gulf War
The Gulf War is often remembered as an easy victory by most Americans. Perceived as an intense
military campaign intended to bring about a swift victory, and often referred to as a battle between
good and evil. In reality, the U.S. military had a host of troubles in the conflicts of Operation
Desert Shield and Operation Desert Sheild which became known as the Gulf Warof 1990 91, many
of troubles were caused by the unnecessary deaths of allied troops, and the Iraqi civilians alike.
Other catastrophes were avoided purely by luck or incompetence of the Iraqi Military. What new
military strategies, procedures and technologies are now in place as a result of lessons learned.
Hopefully to ensure that some of the worst mistakes that were made evident by the Gulf War will
not be repeated in a subsequent war in Iraqor elsewhere. The intense reality of the actual battle
fought by the United Statesand its allies against Iraq, left many a U.S. military spokesmen were
scoffing at the Iraqi forces as the fourth largest army in the world. And the second largest army in
Iraq by the world at the end of the Gulf War,
In 1993, John Keegan, the world s most prominent military historian, called the war a triumph of
incisive planning and almost faultless execution. Colin Powell, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of

Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography
Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of
time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed.
Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of
human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s
9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence
is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch
singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose
colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world
turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think
the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and
Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into
several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different
genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was
drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafГѓ on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118).
Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage
play and surprisingly successful

Over the course of this semester in Operation Management, I have obtained a wealth of

a handful of ancillary support sites. I manage eight Tech 1s and two Tech 2s, which requires me to

Scheduling
At the beginning of this school year, the technology department increased from five techs to the
current eleven techs. This was both a blessing and a curse, because I am new to the whole
management position that is very unofficial! However, I was up to the task and started off by
looking at the schedule and making changes. Most of the courses strategies and suggestions for
scheduling are focused on demands, inventory, delivery times and sub contracting none of which
are scheduling concerns for me. In my particular case, demand for help is the greatest concern. The
techs here do not deal with an inventory or sub contracting; they have two four hour shifts in a day
to cover two sites. Below is the current schedule that is being used.

Author, John Steinbeck, in his novel, Grapes of Wrath, narrates the life of people in Oklahoma
during the time of the Dust Bowl, when no one has everything, but everyone has nothing.
Steinbeck s purpose with this novel is to show different people s point of view and way of life

Dr. Louis Pasteur was a forward thinking individual who made numerous contributions to society

of a radical experiment where Dr. Pasteur took the spinal cord from dogs who had died from rabies

curing rabies in animals it was not proven to work on humans. With nothing to lose Dr. Pasteur

Pasteur process was to take the spinal remains of infected animals and lessened the virality of the
rhabdovirus to almost nonexistent by dehydrating them (Louis Pasteur, 2017). Furthermore, the
dehydrated spinal cord provided a neutralized source of rabies via antibody proteins that are able
to attach to the rabies antigen (Antibody, 2017). Also, known as B lymphocytes (B cells) these
antibodies reproduce countless exact replicas that move throughout the body. This provided the
child s system with antibodies that already recognized the rhabdovirus, and allowed them to affix
and neutralize the virus. Through numerous injections, Dr. Pasteur s inactivated vaccine restrained
rabies from wreaking havoc on the child s nervous system (Louis Pasteur, 2017). Whereas, this is

Plumbing Renovations
2 Plumbing Renovations To Consider For Your Retirement Home
If you re renovating a home to use after you retire, you probably want to make it senior friendly
so you can stay in it well into your golden years. One room that will need special consideration is
the bathroom. You may have trouble stepping over the tub to take a bath or showerwhen you get
older. You could have a walk in tub and walk in shower installed to make the bathroom safer for the
time you may develop mobility issues. Here s why these are good choices for senior living.
A Walk In Shower Provides Room For A Wheelchair
Although you may not like to think about it, you or your spouse may be in a wheelchair in your
advanced age. Even if you re not, you may need to sit in the shower or have a helper in the
shower to make sure you re safe. A walk in shower usually has more room than a standard shower
in a bathtub. This makes it easier for someone to help you, and for you to take in a shower seat or
wheelchair. Install a shower without a rim around the shower pan and you ll be able to roll a
wheelchair inside and continue to shower by yourself. When the plumber installs the handles and ...

allow you to soak in hot water in a seated position so you can stand up and exit the tub easier too.
Plus, some tubs have water jets for massaging and relaxing your muscles and easing joint pain.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s I have a Dream speech seems to echo the very sentiment of the
narrator, whom we find out later is Mama and Mrs. Johnson, in the short story Everyday Use by
Alice Walker. She alludes to her eldest daughter Dee and says sometimes I dreama dream in which

and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man. My fat keeps me hot in zero weather (60). This description
does not bold well for Mama capturing her role in her dream.
The disparity of the outward imageries by Mama is a small manifestation of her cloaked
animosity and resentment as compared to her hyperbolic soliloquies. Even in her dreams she
says Dee wants her to be a hundred pounds lighter, [her] skin like an uncooked barley pancake;
[her] hair [glistening] in the hot bright lights (60). Mama refers to Dee being embarrassed and
ashamed of her mother s appearance. Mama indicates that she can never be what Dee wants her

Mama s admission that she never had an education [herself]. After second grade the school was
closed down (61). However, Mama shunned Dee s quick tongue, acquired from her education;

WWII Home Front: The Key to Victory
The path to Allied victory in World War II wasn t solely due to the soldiers fighting on the
frontline, but also a result of the people fighting at the home front as well. When Pearl Harbor was
attacked on December 7 of 1941, the United States were forced to enter the war and panic gripped
the country as a whole and made many fear of plausible attacks to the United States. However,
instead of just cowering in fear, the majority of Americans converted this fear into their acceptance
that the only way to win this war, was to fight back through their very own, home front. The home
front was the war efforts back in the United States, in which many Americans made imperative
sacrifices that turned the tide of victory in favor of the United States and Allies. This is evident in
the fact that Americans resorted to the rationing of supplies at home, employing women in the
defense plants, and buying war bonds to pay for and support the war effort. Thus, the home front
was crucial in the United State s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Social And Economic Issues Around Small Farms
Since the founding of America, the small family farm has been a pillar of United States culture and
economics. These small generational farms were known for molding very capable, independent
families that were known for their morality, strong character, and high work ethic. Urbanization,
industrialization, the growth of U.S. agribusiness, and other economic factors have slowly chipped
away at the presence of the U.S. small family farm. Technology and mechanization developed by
colleges, agribusinesses, and other government sponsored research programs have caused farm
supply to increase exponentially while farm demand grows at roughly the rate of population
growth. Most modern small farmsare too commodity focused to compete in niche... Show more

Many of these younger workers often see farming as an antiquated profession and relatively
unprofitable. The draw of higher education and the bright lights of city life are constant
distractions pulling them away from the less exciting rural life of farming. Without a generation of
farmer to replace the last many small farms are sold and developed commercially or absorbed by
larger commodity driven farms that surround them. Technological advancements have been a strong
driver of change in agriculture over the last 100 years. Technology is, in fact, the key force driving
the shift of farm activities off farms (Smith, 1992, p. 8). After the World Wars, mechanical
advancements were made at a rapid pace. Advances in mechanization and increasing availability
of chemical inputs led to ever increasing economies of scale that spurred rapid growth in average
farm size, accompanied by an equally rapid decline in the number of farms and in the farm and
rural populations (Dimitri, Effland, Conklin, 2005, p. 6). Essentially, the use of mechanization has
dramatically increased the supply of agricultural products while also drastically reducing the size
of the necessary workforce. The amount of capital used per farmworker increased 15 times
between 1930 and 1980, permitting a fivefold increase in the amount of land cultivated per farmer

Robot s failure to be inclusive toward a wide audience should have been detrimental. How then,
did such a show manage to become loved by so many? The pilot should have been turning
viewers away, but instead Mr. Robot was so well accepted that it was awarded two Emmys and
received four additional nominations. The reason for Mr. Robot s success lies in the fact that Elliot
Alderson is an empathetic main character in whom the audience easily becomes emotionally
invested.
One of the most heart breaking scenes in the pilot of Mr. Robot, is when Elliot comes back from
work to his empty apartment, and begins to cry. Sometimes I dream of saving the world... Elliot
says in the voiceover, but I can t....I m not special. I m no one. In that moment Elliot is overcome
with helplessness. He wants to make the world a better place but he doesn t believe he has the
ability to, and it causes him to despair. He is alone, with no friends or family to comfort him, and
so he turns to morphine.
While Elliot s actions in response to his suffering are specific, his circumstances are universal.
Feelings of helplessness, especially in a world filled with terrorism and poverty, are not uncommon,
and loneliness is an emotion with which all can identify. It is easy then, for the viewer to relate to
Elliot in this moment, and to understand why he would feel the need to self medicate. Through this
scene a powerful emotional connection is fostered, and one cannot help but to empathize with Elliot.

By exploring the interactions of Newton with his colleagues about his ideas and Darwin s letters to
Lyell and his grandfather s influence in theory of evolution, this essay will attempt to demonstrate
that lone geniuses in science history are illusions to make up for a good story to tell to engage
students in class. Even during his time, Isaac Newton was recognized and greatly respected by
people within various scholarly fields. Alexander Pope claimed Newton as the light to the dark and
mysteriousness laws of nature in his poem. (1 Pg. 161) However, it is rarely glorified that Newton
was not a distinguished scholar when he was younger, except in mathematics, and as an adult, he
had diverse interests, such as alchemy, and theology. As a scientist, Newton s ideas were discussed,
criticized and appreciated constantly within the scientific societies of the time. Edmund Halley, the

Theoretical Modeling Of Resource Depletion
The original work in theoretical modeling of resource depletion was by Harold Hotelling (1931).
Hotelling provided a method for analyzing producer behavior when extracting a scarce, non
renewable resource. In this modeling framework, the owners of a resource choose the extraction
rate so as to maximize the present value of the profit. The main conclusion of Hotelling s rule, in
its straightforward form, is that the resource price rise over time at the rate of interest. Indeed, if
the resource price increased faster than the interest rate, producers would choose to delay
extracting and selling the resource till its price had arose, since the resource owners could make
more profit by delaying the sale. If the resource price were declining or going up slower than the
rate of interest, owners would decide to sell more of the resource early and invest their returns at
the going rate of interest.
The efficient point occurs when prices are rising at exactly the rate of interest, making resource
owners indifferent between extracting now or holding reserves for the future. The Hotelling model
depends on several assumptions. The price path can be adjusted with more extensions of the
original model. One common assumption is to allow the extraction cost to be different based on the
cumulative extraction of the resource or the quantity of the resource remained in the ground, to
reflect the fact that as the resource becomes more depleted, the resources that remain get more
costly to

Analysis Of The World We Have Lost
History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the
past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter
Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre
industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history.
Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife,
children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked
together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men
ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of
related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the
past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for
a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the
best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I
am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely
different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father
s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be

used to scan external environment that are the components of the strategic management. This is
used for external analysis while conducting market research and it gives the outline of the different
environmental factors. It is a tool that is strategic in nature to understand the growth or decline in
the market, the current position of a business and also provide directions for future successful
information (Gupta, 2013).
1.1.1 Political Environment
The political factors are all about how much and to a degree the government can intervene in an
economy of a country. This may include the government policies; the stability or instability in the
political system; trade policies of the foreign countries; tax regulations; labor market law; laws
related to the environmental factors and the restrictions on trade etc. ... Show more content on

This can be considered as a most significant change in the social system of UK and other countries
of the world and will have impact on the performance of Starbucks.
As Starbucks is going to expand its customer base by including the middle and lower class
customers so, it has to face a Socio Cultural challenge as it has to lower down the prices by not
compromising on the quality of its products. The trend for CSR and green related concepts are
increasing among the consumers so, it needs to consider these factors while operating in the
modern business environment. Lastly, the baby boomers are retiring which means their spending
habit will also shift so, to overcome this issue the company should have to look out on how to tap

The Contributions Of Ernest Rutherford And The Gold Foil...
Ernest Rutherford was born in New Zealand and died in Britain, however during his life he
worked McGill University in Canada ( Ernest Rutherford Biographical , 2014). During
Rutherford s life he made significant contributions to Science; in 1998 when studying Uranium
he discovered Alpha and Beta radiation ( Ernest Rutherford: Father of nuclear science , n.d.). In
1903, Rutherford saw that a French chemist, Paul Villard, had discovered a new type of
radiation coming from radium, upon discerning that this new radiation was different then the
ones he had already discovered due to its greater penetrating power, Rutherford named it Gamma
radiation ( Ernest Rutherford , 2017). Using his previously found out types of radiation, he
discovered the concept of half life, how long it takes for a sample of an element to decay to half
its size. However, the most infamous experiment he did, was the Gold Foil Experiment. In 1910, in
order to confirm JJ Thomson s model on an atomErnest Rutherford conducted an experiment
along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden where a thin piece of gold was bombarded with
Alpha particles, while most went through (meaning that an atom is mostly empty space), some
were deflected, and a few even bounced backwards. This led to the discovery of the neutron, a
positively charged area of the atom which was responsible for Alpha particles being deflected and
bouncing back. With this new information disproving JJ Thomson s model, Rutherford created a
new atomic

Meteo 470: Climate Dynamics Fall 2014
December 15, 2014
Introduction:
The changing climate has become a very important amongst the science and political communities
over the past 30 years. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its First
Assessment Report in 1990 as a means of taking a global initiative to study the changing climate
and how to respond to these changes. Their Fifth Assessment Report, which is their most recent,
was issued in 2014. The IPCC reports in its fifth assessment that they are 95 percent confident that
current global warming trends are caused by humans (Cubasch et al,
2013). While the greenhouse gas effect and carbon dioxide emissions are commonly reported on,
there are other, natural forcings that have effects on the global climate. A few of these natural
forcings would be solar radiation, clouds and volcanoes. Solar radiation and volcanic effects have
been more easily studied; however throughout the IPCC assessments clouds have contributed the
largest uncertainty to understanding the global energy budget (Boucher et al,
2013).
Volcanoes have existed on planet Earthsince the beginning of time. It is likely that over the lifespan
of the Earth that there were hundreds of thousands eruptions. There are scientists who theorize that
volcanic eruptions could have been the cause for the extinction of dinosaurs millions of years

What Was The Causes Of The Anglo-Boer War
The Anglo Boer War remains the most terrible and destructive armed conflict in the history of
South Africa. It shaped the history of South Africa in the 20th Century and therefore left a legacy
marking the end of the long process of British conquest of South African societies. Conflicting
political ideologies of imperialism and republicanism, including the tension between the political
leaders, like the Boer leader Paul Kruger and the British leader, Cecil Rhodes. These were some
of the causes of the war. The discovery of diamonds in Johannesburg and gold on the
Witwatersrand also pricked the British interest in South Africa, especially after the Global
Financial Panic of 1873. The Anglo Boer War or also known as The First South African

Boer commandos ambushed British forces, and was conducted across forbidding distances along
barely navigable terrain (Nasson, 2006). But this was the advantage of the Boers as they knew the

Examples Of Capstone Reflection
This capstone course has helped me tie together all the material I have learned thus far in the
program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working
on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength based language
and be conscious of how I describe my client s when presenting them to others. It can be a habit
to use negative language to describe a problem saturated story and unintentionally describe a
patient s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and
tactful of how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient s
case to the class and practice being thoughtful on how I portrayed my... Show more content on

There is a variety of evidence based research on varying cultures and each culture s perspective
regarding medical care. Evidence based practice will be extremely helpful among the hospital
setting because it will allow for one to acquire knowledge from reliable resources. Using
evidence based practice is important because it allows social workers to utilize well researched
interventions which will best serve the patient s. I will continue to work within the hospital
setting and need to be sensitive of how different cultures feel about the medical system as well as
treatment options. At times, I have found myself wondering why my patient does not want to go
a certain treatment route and have used evidence based practice to form a better understanding
and approach. Social workers can use evidence based practice to educate themselves as well as
the whole treatment team. In conclusion, evidence based practice has allowed for me to share
articles with coworkers and have dependable evidence to fall back on when advocating for my
patient within team meetings. In week five, I found the topic of suicide to be very helpful because I
have discovered that I need to gain skills for working with patients who are suicidal or facing death.
Many cancer patients have to think a great deal about death and often times contemplate suicide.
Throughout my capstone presentation, it became evident how difficult it was to process death with

The camera is frozen on a still frame of Perello pointing his gun. From here, the film is reversed
and a flashback is shown to demonstrate where he had picked the gun up before. Afterward, a
flash forward shot speeds through back to the original frozen frame the film then resumes to
Perello firing off his firearm. In addition to the aforementioned camera cinematography, Running
Scared also uses a variety of subjective and cross cut shots. In one of the film s scenes, Gazelle s
family is shown sitting at their dinner table eating a meal. Gazelle says softly, Hey Nick, throw
me some bread. just when a bullet flies through the window from their neighbor s home
interrupting their meal. When Gazelle goes to investigate and discovers what had occurred, a
flashback is shown alongside a cross cut shot that shows the viewpoint of the bullet entering the
window and whizzing past him and his family. This allows viewers to see more than one
viewpoint of the bullet s trail to piece together the entire scene. Furthermore, just after the
starting scene, a subjective shot is used to show Gazelle s viewpoint as he looks forward while
riding the back seat of a moving car. The camera constantly cuts out from his viewpoint showing
his face looking off in another direction. Just after Gazelle is calming down, we are returned back

Floor Hockey Research Paper
Floor hockey is a stick and ball game played indoors on a flat floor. Players typically wear indoor
sports shoes. There are several different variations of floor hockey. Floor hockey evolved from ice
hockey. British soldiers invented modern ice hockey in the 1950 s when they were stationed in
Canada. The first organized indoor hockeygames took place in Battle Creek Michigan in 1962. Tim
Harter is responsible for refining the rules of the game. The sport is popular among both boys and
girls. Floor hockey is played between two teams of six players to a side on a flat surface the size of
a basketball court which is 94 ft by 50 ft. The object of the game is to score points by hitting the

around for a while now and the other one just started about 2 years ago. These radio stations
have programs that are local meaning the that the DJ/broadcaster is from Milwaukee, but they
also have programs that are very popular in other states which most of the time are from
California. I was listening to the radio personalities, which includes two women one from El

In an effort to extend Andreasen s (1968) typology to computer mediated environments, we assert
that information sources can be sorted into one of four groups: (1) Personal source providing
personalized information (e.g., My sister says that this product is best for me. ); (2) Personal
source providing non personalized information (e.g., A renowned expert says that this product is
the best. ); (3) Impersonal source providing personalized information (e.g., Based on my profile,
the recommender system suggests this product. ); (4) Impersonal source providing non
personalized information (e.g., According to Consumer Reports, this is the best product on the
market. ). In consumer research, studies on personal influence, social influence, or WOM, can
be categorized as studies investigating personal sources providing personalized or non personalized
information. Furthermore, studies dealing with reference groups encompass such sources as well
as impersonal sources that provide non personalized information. Thus, a new area has emerged in
consumer research, arising mainly from information technologies such as the Internet: that of
impersonal sources that provide personalized information (Alba et al., 1997; Ansari et al., 2000;

Activities reflect careful thought, take into account student developmental levels, learning styles and diversity, and create situations in which students construct knowledge. The student teacher exhibits respect and consideration toward colleagues, particularly in team situations, supports colleagues work and contributes an equal share to team efforts, The studentteacher encourages and elicits interaction with parents and community and makes herself available to those constituencies when and where appropriate. This worksheet demonstrates another way I asked my students to construct knowledge; by examining a document (in this case a difficult, non narrative poem) for its details, to try to sum those details to meaning (comprehension) and to try to figure out how the student knew how to sum those details (metacognition). While the practical, classroom end of this worksheet was a brainstorm regarding the details of the poem and an increasingly specific investigation of the diversity of potential meanings in the poem, by allowing my students to write before speaking to gather their thoughts and ideas before even a spoken brainstorm I allowed each of my students to feel as though they had something to contribute to the class and to the classes construction of a reading (or a series of readings!) of the poem. Allowing students to chart the known, this activity ultimately allowed my students to make the leap to charting a small section of ideas that were, before this activity, unknown. Before students can trust each other enough to share their ideas and to construct knowledge with each other the teacher must engage students in activities to foster classroom community. During Brown Summer High School, my co teachers (Jen Fordyce and Jenny Morse) and I started each of our classes with what we called an AGFA (an Attention Grabbing Focusing Activity) that had a twofold intent: ... • 4. Unit 217 Organise and Report Data Essay Understand How to Organise and Report Data That Has Been Researched. 1.1Describe different ways of organising data that has been researched. Data is a group of information that are used for various purposes like analysis, evaluations and to arrive at certain results or conclusions. Data reporting is a process where data is extracted form a source or many sources and then converted into a format that can be used for a purpose. It is usually presented in the form of a report in tables, charts, statistics, and graphs or on spread sheets etc. This data may be used to arrive at important decisions within the organisation or with external organisations. So the data report has to be produced in such a way that it meets the aims and... The value and benefits of agreeing the format and deadline for data is that everybody knows what they are doing and when it is due. If you have been given a task to complete, with details of how it should be done and when it needs to be completed by and there is a different member of the team who cannot complete their task in till you have completed yours and you do not get it finished within the time frame and/or it has not be formatted in the agreed way, then you will hold up the project. This will not show you in a professional light. You will be considered unreliable, non productive, and could potentially affect your employability. It also avoids work having to be redone at the last minute if the format is agreed beforehand. Be Able To Organise Data 2.1 Organise data so that it can be reported Well organized file names and folder structures make it easier to find and keep track of data files. A system needs to be practical and used consistently. Without organization, you cannot report data effectively. Good file names can provide useful cues to the content and status of a file, can uniquely identify a file and can help in classifying files. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. My Guest Star Featured Is Sara Picklesimer Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we communicate in our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted by Professor Stephen Stifano focused on this subject and its attributes. Our guest star featured is Sara Picklesimer, a University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the University of Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky, and started off as a biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her first public speaking course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found that she actually enjoyed and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and communication course here at the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music and a variety of other aspects in relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two primary topics related to perception: thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in which we communicate. Professor Stifano mentioned some of the foundations of perception that we have discussed in our lecture, including selective attention and perceptual filters. The other aspects revealed in this podcast are thin slicing and gender. All of these elements tie into each other in terms of communicating effectively and making decisions, and what make up perception. We learned that perception is selecting, organizing, and ... • 7. Slavery In The Ancient Era Essay Slavery in the Ancient Era In this magnificent universe created by god which put us humans the only species in the world. Being the only species, you would think everyone would treat each other equal. Some people treat other people like they re not the same as them. In the ancient time, for instance in the 4th century, people were preserved as slaves. Those people were treated way below humans and sometimes even worse than animals. Slaves were sold to people just like how you would sell things. They were forced to do hard labor, women s rapped, separated families and their owners did many other horrendous things to them. Many of the slaves ended up either being killed or their harrowing lives killed them. The proportion of slaves absorbed by domestic service must at all periods have been considerable, for by and large, personal servants were always slaves, and they were employed in numbers which by modern standards seem very lavish. Slavery was an efficient system back in the ancient era especially in two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these city states profoundly dealt with slavery violently. In Athens, which was a democratic state, they made decisions by the majority rule. Political oratory suggest that slaves were regarded as natural enemies of the political order. They were kept in bondage in accordance with the laws and customs of the city and they were, therefore, expected to hate the system that maintained their servile status. The citizens in Athens had in mind that the slaves were not that dangerous, so no one really commiserated them. Even though this may seem like they didn t belong there, they had no major problems with their slaves. • 8. The Southern Gothic Is A Subgenre Of Gothic Fiction. The The Southern Gothic is a subgenre of Gothic fiction. The Southern Gothic is best defined as a story filled with irony, characters who fit the grotesque factor, social issues, violence, southern settings, decay, outsiders, Civil War, and even slavery and race. Throughout Modern Southern Fiction, these factors which create the Southern Gothiccan be found in almost every literary work. In the novel by Dorothy Allison titled Bastard Out of Carolina which was published in 1922, nearly every factor that plays a role in the Southern Gothic can be found within, specifically the southern setting, social settings, outsiders, the grotesque, and violence. In Bastard Out of Carolina, the setting in which the characters reside in is a small town of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... None of them are quite the same, in actuality, they are all quite different from one another, but the one thing that makes them not outsiders to one another is the idea that all Boatwrights look the same, that is, not all do, which causes there to be some type of outsider feel to some in the family. The Boatwrights are looked down upon and it stems from the fact that nobody in the town likes them. There is a grandmother who curses and chews snuff, there are two crazy aunts who dive into the theory of witchcraft, there is an aunt who ran off with the carnival, there are uncles who are beating up men left and right, there is Bone s mother who becomes pregnant at fourteen, and there is even Bone and a cousin of hers who are quiet and that differentiates them from the rest of the family. One can argue that Bone s mother, Anney, while unlike the other Boatwrights, meaning that she is not wild and not running off to beat up whoever gets in her way, is the biggest outsider in the town and causes the most abject social issues. Due to falling pregnant at the age of fourteen, Anney was instantly looked down upon. The town saw those who gave birth to bastards as being the worst of anything, therefore when Anney had to go downtown every year to sign the paperwork for Bone, those who were in the courthouse looked down upon her, but she did not let that phase her. • 9. The Street Gang In LETB In LETB, Harry is scapegoated by the roving street gang. Harry commits the horrendous act of molesting a young boy, however that is not grounds for dismissing his death as justice according to Girard s theory. This is further proved because Selby has the street gang murder him. Throughout the section Strike , they show constant disdain for Harry and use him for beer and food. The importance of the street gangs role as the scapegoaters , is that they show homosexual tendencies throughout the novel. However here, they call Harry a freak and abuse him (176). After they crucify him, they go into the bathroom of the Greeks, seemingly happier than they had been since they beat a sailor up in Another Day, Another Dollar . In both the incident with the sailor and with Harry, questions of masculinity and impotence were the forefront causes for the street gang s violence. This suggests that Selby shows their inability to come to terms with their own sexuality; and how it is much easier to strike out than accept their feelings, as seen in above in the chapter on Hypermasculinity . The rape of the prostitute Tralala is also suggestive of this, as it seems to include most of the males in Sunset Park. They come together to violently rape her, seemingly to take out their own feelings of inferiority and impotence on her. Like with Girard s sexually aggressive goat , Tralala is chosen because she is seen as an abject woman. In the conservative conforming world of 1950s America , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Diamond Necklace, By Maupassant Social classes exists since the years. Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all the time, while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other people who move from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual effort. In the Diamond Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born poor and was not happy with her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she tried for all occasion to appear as rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different ways why Mathilde should recognize and accept her social class and live in the level of her class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her class because happiness does not depend on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her social class to avoid the deterioration of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually capacity. People are not respected because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is determinant in how people will respect him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was neither caste nor rank, for beauty, grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant). • 12. Similarities Between The Captivity And Slave Narrative The captivity narrative and the slave narrative are two types of literary works, which were very common during the 17th and the 18th century. The captivity narrative usually involves an innocent white woman who is taken captive by an Indian tribe, who the woman describes as savages in most of the cases. On the other hand, the slave narrative focuses on the quality of life that slaves were facing before the time of the abolishment of slavery. Although the captivity narrativeand the slave narrative show some similarities, they are completely different. We can observe the differences by analyzing two literary works, A Narrative of The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandsonby Mary Rowlandson and From The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself by Olaudah Equiano. A Narrative of The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is a narrative written by Mary Rowlandson herself, which sheds light on her own experiences revolving captivity. The Interesting Narrative of The Life of Olaudah Equiano gives the reader insight into the life of a slave, the treatments they endure, and usually their freedom, whether it be through escaping or other means. Both narratives usually include real life accounts, however, the differences lie in the structure of the narrative, the purpose that the narrative is trying to lay out and the treatment of the parties who are living these experiences. The romantic era had flourished and passed, impressionistic music was well into its lifespan, but arising from amid the rubble of the romantic era was the Verismo movement! Verismo was a movement or new school of thought embodied in the operas of composers like Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Umberto Giordani, Giacomo Puccini. Verismo is virtually synonymous with realism. It was an attempt made by composers to inject into opera, the real life pains and experiences that so easily worked their way into drama, poetry and the spoken arts, but seemed to fall short when it came to opera. Premiered on May 17th, 1890, Cavalleria Rusticana is a one act opera adapated from a short story about a young villager who had returned from military duty to find that his long time love had forsaken him and married someone else. The young man, Turiddu is furious and takes revenge by beginning a seductive relationship with another village girl to make his finacee jealous. His plot is successful, and the rage of jealousy begins when Turiddu once again lies with his true love in a now adulterous relationship. The story develops into a tangled web of passion, lust, revenge and hate. The whole town is enraged and look on with curiousity as the unruly secrets are discovered. The plot comes to a climax when Turiddu, is challenged to a duel by his lover s husband. As was the Sicillian custom, the two men embrace, and Turiddu proceeds to bite his opponent s ear, signifying that it would be a duel to the death. The story comes to a close when Turridu, unsuccessful in his fencing skills, tragically dies. His lover weeps, and his mother collapses into the arms of the village women in grief. Themes Of Johnny Tremain Esther Forbes published Johnny Tremain in 1943, when the United States was in the middle of World War II, in which the United States and the United Kingdom ,yet another way to refer to Great Britain, were allies. But that s okay because Forbes makes it clear that England is not the real enemy but the real enemy is any government that threatens the liberty of its people or just doesn t stand up for them. So, in a roundabout way, Johnny Tremainis partly about the importance of workman s comp laws. Johnny Tremain, the book and the movie, were very different because of the events and the characters; and similar because of the plot, and timeline. Johnny Tremain, an orphan is apprenticed to silversmith Emphraim Lapham. When we meet Johnny, his entire identity is wrapped up in being a fantastic silversmith. He s career driven since he is only an apprentice, but he s running his master s shop. He violates the Sabbath laws by working on Sunday, suffers an injury to his hand by burning it with silver, and that ends his career as an artisan. Research Design In examining the empirical data of post Communist reform, I hope to exhibit the real impact of geographical factors on political and economic reform in an effort to abandon conventional explanations of this discussion. My intent with this research is to introduce the notion that spatial issues can be as much of a determinant of state behavior, as any other factor. This is not to prove that certain explanations are better than others, but rather to underscore the validity in geographical explanations; even if variables are not exclusively affiliated to the central subject of my study, they can still hold powerful implications. Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different genres. When Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7 of 1941, the United States were forced to enter the war and panic gripped the country as a whole and made many fear of plausible attacks to the United States. However, instead of just cowering in fear, the majority of Americans converted this fear into their acceptance that the only way to win this war, was to fight back through their very own, home front. The home front was the war efforts back in the United States, in which many Americans made imperative sacrifices that turned the tide of victory in favor of the United States and Allies. The reason for Mr. Robot s success lies in the fact that Elliot Alderson is an empathetic main character in whom the audience easily becomes emotionally invested. One of the most heart breaking scenes in the pilot of Mr. Robot, is when Elliot comes back from work to his empty apartment, and begins to cry. Sometimes I dream of saving the world... Elliot says in the voiceover, but I can t....I m not special. I m no one. In that moment Elliot is overcome with helplessness. He wants to make the world a better place but he doesn t believe he has the ability to, and it causes him to despair. He is alone, with no friends or family to comfort him, and so he turns to morphine. While Elliot s actions in response to his suffering are specific, his circumstances are universal. Feelings of helplessness, especially in a world filled with terrorism and poverty, are not uncommon, and loneliness is an emotion with which all can identify. It is easy then, for the viewer to relate to Elliot in this moment, and to understand why he would feel the need to self medicate. Through this scene a powerful emotional connection is fostered, and one cannot help but to empathize with Elliot. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. A Historical Background On Science And Mathematics Time and again, when referring to a historical background of a topic in science or math, we have been exposed to only a handful of key figures and even fewer notable events without any social or cultural context behind it. Such details are often overlooked and taught without the perspective of the era and why it occurred at the time. There maybe several reasons for such dismissal. Within the STEAM subjects, especially scienceand mathematics, the content strives to be empirical and concrete without influence of culture, race, gender or era in time. It maybe useful to only highlight few historical figures and events to maximize time in knowledge content. However, often times, the analysis of historical context and how or why the events... By exploring the interactions of Newton with his colleagues about his ideas and Darwin s letters to Lyell and his grandfather s influence in theory of evolution, this essay will attempt to demonstrate that lone geniuses in science history are illusions to make up for a good story to tell to engage students in class. Even during his time, Isaac Newton was recognized and greatly respected by people within various scholarly fields. Alexander Pope claimed Newton as the light to the dark and mysteriousness laws of nature in his poem. (1 Pg. 161) However, it is rarely glorified that Newton was not a distinguished scholar when he was younger, except in mathematics, and as an adult, he had diverse interests, such as alchemy, and theology. As a scientist, Newton s ideas were discussed, criticized and appreciated constantly within the scientific societies of the time. Edmund Halley, the discover of comet and Newton s colleague, communicated about elliptical orbits and angular momentum of planets with Newton (Pg137). This made Newton questions his own theories about planetary motion and thus eventually lead him to publish Philosophiae Nauturalis Principia Mathematica . In the book, he structured his argument to disprove Descartes theory and referred to Galileo s work to explain universal gravitation. The incorporation of previous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Theoretical Modeling Of Resource Depletion The original work in theoretical modeling of resource depletion was by Harold Hotelling (1931). Hotelling provided a method for analyzing producer behavior when extracting a scarce, non renewable resource. In this modeling framework, the owners of a resource choose the extraction rate so as to maximize the present value of the profit. The main conclusion of Hotelling s rule, in its straightforward form, is that the resource price rise over time at the rate of interest. Indeed, if the resource price increased faster than the interest rate, producers would choose to delay extracting and selling the resource till its price had arose, since the resource owners could make more profit by delaying the sale. If the resource price were declining or going up slower than the rate of interest, owners would decide to sell more of the resource early and invest their returns at the going rate of interest. The efficient point occurs when prices are rising at exactly the rate of interest, making resource owners indifferent between extracting now or holding reserves for the future. The Hotelling model depends on several assumptions. The price path can be adjusted with more extensions of the original model. One common assumption is to allow the extraction cost to be different based on the cumulative extraction of the resource or the quantity of the resource remained in the ground, to reflect the fact that as the resource becomes more depleted, the resources that remain get more costly to ... The young kids bounced around like popping popcorn, babbling noisily as Mr. Eddie s desperate attempts to get them to listen to him went nowhere. However, once Mr. Eddie noticed me, he introduced me to the children as an older dancer who is one of the best dancers in the studio , and the bright room went still as they stared, intrigued, like mice, up at me. As the class proceeded, I perched myself on a folding chair and contemplated the budding dancers having fun. They glanced over at me for approval every now and then, at times disregarding Mr. Eddie s directions, much to his vexation. • 40. Analysis Of The World We Have Lost History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be decided before I was born. Ernest Rutherford was born in New Zealand and died in Britain, however during his life he worked McGill University in Canada ( Ernest Rutherford Biographical , 2014). During Rutherford s life he made significant contributions to Science; in 1998 when studying Uranium he discovered Alpha and Beta radiation ( Ernest Rutherford: Father of nuclear science , n.d.). In 1903, Rutherford saw that a French chemist, Paul Villard, had discovered a new type of radiation coming from radium, upon discerning that this new radiation was different then the ones he had already discovered due to its greater penetrating power, Rutherford named it Gamma radiation ( Ernest Rutherford , 2017). Using his previously found out types of radiation, he discovered the concept of half life, how long it takes for a sample of an element to decay to half its size. However, the most infamous experiment he did, was the Gold Foil Experiment. In 1910, in order to confirm JJ Thomson s model on an atomErnest Rutherford conducted an experiment along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden where a thin piece of gold was bombarded with Alpha particles, while most went through (meaning that an atom is mostly empty space), some were deflected, and a few even bounced backwards. This led to the discovery of the neutron, a positively charged area of the atom which was responsible for Alpha particles being deflected and bouncing back. With this new information disproving JJ Thomson s model, Rutherford created a new atomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its First Assessment Report in 1990 as a means of taking a global initiative to study the changing climate and how to respond to these changes. Their Fifth Assessment Report, which is their most recent, was issued in 2014. The IPCC reports in its fifth assessment that they are 95 percent confident that current global warming trends are caused by humans (Cubasch et al, 2013). While the greenhouse gas effect and carbon dioxide emissions are commonly reported on, there are other, natural forcings that have effects on the global climate. A few of these natural forcings would be solar radiation, clouds and volcanoes. Solar radiation and volcanic effects have been more easily studied; however throughout the IPCC assessments clouds have contributed the largest uncertainty to understanding the global energy budget (Boucher et al, 2013).
