1. What does the shell ordinarily do while a command is executing? What should you do if you do not
want for a command to finish before running another command?
While the command is executing, the shell waits for the process to finish. Or sleeps
3. What is a PID number? Why are these numbers useful when you run processes in the background?
Which utility displays the PID numbers of the commands you are running?
PID process identification numbers. Each of these numbers identifies the command running in the
background. You can use the PS (process status) utility to display the PID numbers of running
commands.

$ CDPATH=$(pwd)
$ cd $HOME/biblios
After executing the preceding commands, Zach s working directory is
/home/zach/biblios. When you give cd an absolute pathname as an argument, cd does not use
CDPATH.
8. Enter the following command:
$ sleep 30 | cat /etc/services
Is there any output from sleep? Where does cat get its input from? What has to happen before the shell
displays a prompt?
There is no output from sleep (try giving the command sleep 30 by itself).
The /etc/services file provides input for cat (when cat has an argument, it does not check standard
input). The sleep command has to run to completion before the shell displays a prompt.
Chapter 9, p.357, Advanced Exercises 10,11
10. Write a shell script that outputs the name of the shell executing it.
There are many ways to solve this problem. The following solutions are all basically the same. These
scripts take advantage of the PPID shell variable, which holds the PID number of the shell that is the
parent of the process using the variable. They also use the fact that echo changes multiple sequential
SPACEs to a single SPACE. The cut utility interprets multiple sequential SPACEs as multiple
delimiters, so the script does not work properly without echo.

Mismanaged layoffs can go horribly wrong. The effect of mismanaged LAYOFFs on the remaining
workforce and the effects, lack of management preparation, the human condition, and lack of
mitigation strategies. We think that the problem with this article is that not enough managers or HR
personal, know how to let a person go from their employment effectively. They sometimes don t
realize the impact that it has on the other employees morals. Also, that sometimes companies don t
take a closer look to make sure downsizing will be the answer to cutting costs like they think that it
will. Every HR or manager should be let go in their lifetime so ... Show more content on

Trying to make a bad situation easier is often more disrespectful than being direct. Firing is something
that is done privately and should be kept confident between the manager and the employee being let
go. If a manager is letting, someone go for the right reasons the example should be evident to the
employees as cause and effect; being held accountable for their actions. If the Manager is abusing
their hiring/firing authority that would affect employee morale; forced silence, uncertainty, etc.
Problem Solutions The options that were covered in the group discussion I feel very informative.
When it comes to releasing someone, whether it is a termination or a layoff, it was discussed if
training for those types of situations would be suitable, or if one could even prepare to carry out
something of that delicate nature. You can train someone how to do anything, but that does not
necessarily mean it will be conducted in the manner it was taught. I think it all highly depends on the
situation and the individual who is delivering the news to the employee. The author s best point is one
of the best solutions; transparency. Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting, working
through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. Transparency is the most respectful approach that
management can take as it shows them the truth of the situation and explains the steps being taken and
why. I would add rather than trying to find another position within

Policy Issues in Telehealth Essay
Policy Issues in Telehealth The purpose of telemedicine is to remove distance as a barrier to health
care. While telehealth is an accepted resource to bridge the gap between local and global health care,
integrating telehealth into existing health infrastructures presents a challenge for both governments
and policy makers (HRSA, 2011). Today there are policy barriers that prevent the expansion of
telehealth, including reimbursement issues raised by Medicare and private payers, state licensure, and
liability and privacy concerns. Reimbursement Issues Reimbursement policies prevent the total
integration of telemedicine into health care practice (Prinz, 2008). Today, there is no overall
telemedicine reimbursement policy in the federal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The originating site must be a medical facility and not the patient s home, and Medicare does cover
store and forward applications, such as teleradiology and remote EKG applications. While the Center
for Medicare Services (CMS) has not formally defined telemedicine for the Medicare program
because the federal government does not mandate reimbursement for telehealth under Medicaid, states
have the option to reimburse for Medicaid services through telehealth. For example, in states such as
Alaska and Hawaii Medicare does cover store and forward applications, such as teledermatology,
whereas 35 states allow for at least some reimbursement for telehealth services. Medicaid
reimbursement for telehealth services by psychologists is available in 13 states. Coverage and billing
requirements vary by state. Private Payers Currently, there is no single widely accepted reimbursement
standard for private payers. Some insurance companies value the benefits of telehealth and will pay
for a wide variety of services while other insurance companies have yet to develop comprehensive
reimbursement policies, so payment for telehealth may require prior approval. Reimbursement
policies are also differentiated by states; each state in the United States has various standards by which
Medicaid programs decide on reimbursements for telehealth expenses. To date, 12 states

Dorothea Dix Essay
Dorothea Dix One of the Great Women of the 1800s
Once in a while a truly exceptional person has made a mark on the growth of mankind. Dorothea Dix
was an exceptional woman. She wrote children s books, she was a school teacher, and she helped
reform in prisons. Some of her most notable work was in the field of making mental health institutions
a better place for the patients that lived in them. Dorothea Dix gave a great deal to humanity and her
achievements are still being felt today, especially in the treatment of those with mental disabilities.
Dix started out though with very humble beginnings. Dorothea Dix was born in Hampden, Maine in
1802. Her mother was not very mentally stable and her dad was an abusive alcoholic. The Dix moved

Dix remained there for a couple of years; she seemed to become well adjusted so she returned back to
Boston to a new beginning in her life.
When she returned to Boston she asked her grandmother if she could start another school in her
grandmother s dining room. After a bit of opposition, her grandmother agreed. There, she taught until
1835, but she became sick with tuberculosis and also exhaustion had set in. Because of her illness she
closed the school and then traveled to Europe to recuperate, under the advice of her friends and family.
She again returns to Boston, months later, but this time she found herself with a very large inheritance
that would allow her to love comfortably for the rest of her life.4
She realized that she was not the type to sit back and do nothing, so she accepted an invitation to teach
at a Sunday school at the East Cambridge Jail in East Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1941. That s when
her quest began. She was shocked when she saw that mentally ill patients were being put into the jails,
and even more appalled at the conditions they were put in. This is where Dix helped humanity in a
giant way. She made it public about the ways that those with mental and physical handicaps were
being treated. Dix wrote, Men need knowledge in order to overpower their passions and master their
prejudices. 5
She first appealed to the local courts and though the conditions were mildly improved she was not
satisfied with the outcomes. She traveled

Immigration Policy Essay
In immigration policy, there has been several programs and acts that are represented through
significant moments. The first to discuss is the Chinese Exclusion Act, which was among one of the
first immigration policy to exist within the United States. As stated in American immigration: a very
short introduction, Gerber explains that Dennis Kearney, a Californian politician, had a disdain for
Chinese immigrants and feared they would take over the workforce in California. In 1882, Kearney
succeeds in promoting his agenda and passes the Chinese Exclusion Act, which calls for the
deportation of Chinese immigrant workers (Gerber 35). Furthermore, Gerber quotes historian Mae
Ngai, as she states that this act soughts for massive racial engineering ... Show more content on

As such, the Bracero program is also another immigration policy that is significant in United States
history. Also, this program was created with an intention for Mexicans to return back to Mexico after
the war ended, but several of them stayed which is also why this program is significant in the
immigrant narrative. Lastly, another piece worth noting is the internment of Japanese folk which
happened after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Due to this act, Japanese immigrants and Japanese
Americans were forced into internment camps, revoked of rights as citizens for Japanese Americans,
and lost all their belongings, such as homes, businesses, and cars (Daniels 88). Between the three of
these moments, they have differences, For example, they all targeted different population, the
Japanese were placed in internment camps, the Bracero program encouraged immigration, and the
Chinese Exclusion Act forced Chinese immigrants to leave the country. Some of the similarities that
these moments share is that they all targeted a specific population and sentiments towards these
populations grew after these moments

Scopes Trial Analysis
The Scopes Trial is part of a series most commonly known as the trial of the century. In this series
there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even though
some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their concept and
ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the other. The Scopes
Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case itself but what it actually

In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is a
scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about
creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously neutral.
But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every biology class has
evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if that s the case, now a
days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the churches themselves, though I
am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in several preaching sessions for FCA in
middle school and club preaching in high school and I have also attended church few times; and I
have never heard of creationism until this trial and some of these preachings talked about Genesis but
backed away from many aspects of it, so I believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my
opinion, as humankind is focusing more on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence
of evolution is being argued upon lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist,
agnostics, and sometimes even parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of
things because it is eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s
human nature to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument
and only is taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but
using evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the
rich to not help the

Edward Mcclelland Roll The Middle Class Summary
Has there been a demise in the middle class? Edward McClelland believes there has been. Could he be
right? Since the 1970 s, the middle class has been slowly declining is the assumption that McClelland
makes. Through my life experiences, I believe McClelland has some strong points but could be wrong
in some areas. And I believe where you are located can also makes a difference. In Edward
McClelland s article, RIP, the Middle Class: 1946 2013 , McClelland argues that there has been a
decline in the middle class since the 1980 s. He begins his article remembering times in the 1970 s,
when the middle class was able to live similar to the upper class. He stated I saw the evidence of
prosperity distributed equally among the social classes: speedboats, Corvette Stingrays, waterbeds,
snowmobiles, motorcycles, hunting rifles, RV s, CB radios. This was his evidence that the middle
class was doing well and prospering. He also gave an example of a couple he knew. This couple was
told they would have jobs for life but when the job moved to Singapore in 2004, they were laid ...

degree. The cost of living was equally matched with the wages. My husband and I were able to
provide for my family s necessities and have extra money left over. However, when I moved back to

Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income
During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to
higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer
holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the
investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a
large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the
value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995).
Realization of Capital Income
Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital
gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring
taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income,
long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize
the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a
higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995)
contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a
higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the
artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones

Health Disparities And Health Care
Health disparities are present in our health care system. Whether it be racial, educational, or
environmental, these disparities exist and are detrimental to health care outcomes. While there have
been recent advancements in how to eliminate or reduce these disparities, there is still a major inequity
in health care for all individuals.
This paper will include definitions of health equity and health inequity, steps to reduce health inequity,
and two important decisions used to decrease in health inequity and why this reduction in health
inequity occurs. It will also include further discussion on certain steps and decisions used to decrease
health inequity.
Defining Health Equity and Inequity
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), health equity is achieved when every person has
the opportunity to attain his or her full health potential and no one is disadvantaged from achieving
this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances (U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services, 2015). Satcher (2010) reports that health inequities are systematic,
avoidable, and unjust disparities (p. 6). He also states that the World Health Organization (WHO)
concluded that social conditions are the most important determinant of a person s health. Social
conditions determine access to health services and influence lifestyle choices (Satcher, 2010, p. 6).
These determinants must be addressed in order to reduce health inequity. Inequity can be

Katherine Carroll s Alice s Adventures, Wonderland And...
In most Victorian literature, curious women are severely punished because Victorian society
prohibited women from indulging themselves in curiosity; this idea originates from the fear that
female knowledge would jeopardize patriarchal security (Aikens 29). In contrast, the protagonist of
Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (and What Alice
Found There) does not receive punishment for her curiosity, despite living under Victorian conditions.
Instead, Carroll replaces this prohibitive standard with a standard of freedom entitled to both genders.
Most literary critics, therefore, accept Carroll as a feminist and praise him for challenging gender
stereotypes. Others, however, are hesitant to do the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in Cohen 16)
These gender roles are derived from natural characteristics of men and women: a woman s natural
gentleness provides the best environment for a developing child, and a man s natural intellectual and
fighting superiority make them best suited for the field (Cohen 16). Thus, while men commuted to
their place of work, women stayed home to oversee domestic duties because all Victorians, even those
who idolized women, saw [women] as the weaker sex, requiring protection and support ; they believed
that to subject the female body to any manly tasks would be to abuse it (Cohen 18). Also, Victorian
women strived for motherhood since marriage and reproduction were of utmost importance to them;
they devoted their pre marital lives to obtaining knowledge ranging from music and singing to modern
languages, solely for the purpose of attracting a husband (Corbett 22).
Though based on general characteristics, these standards do not account for every man or woman.
Who is to say that a man cannot be as nurturing or supportive as a woman, or that a woman cannot
excel intellectually or fight adeptly? Is a woman automatically incapable of living up to her male
counterpart, or is the capability to succeed in a field dependent upon the individual and not the
gender? These are the questions Carroll addresses through his depiction of Alice, the empowering
protagonist who inadvertently challenges gender stereotypes.
Unbeknownst to Alice, her most prominent

Assisted Living

is, because one day I plan to be an administrator at an assisted living. I preferably want to be an

video a lot of the issues presented in this video, I did not realize happened as often as presented. Some
of the issues such as the workload being too much for the employees are a major issue. I feel if a lot of
people are aware of this issue it will make a difference for both the residents and the facility. I also
feel the issues presented in this video will shed a light on what really goes on in the facility, so
families that have their loved ones in the facility know some signs to look for. If a family is spending a
lot of money for their loved ones to be in a facility, they need to know they are receiving proper care
for what they are paying for. Lastly I feel this video is going to impact future policies on the training

Violent Crime Research Paper
Violent Crime Research Paper
Nothing does more to tear our families apart than violent crime, guns, gangs, drugs, and the fear that
walks alongside those terrors. Violent crime and victim rights have become a major concern for most
citizens in the United States of America. Statistics indicate a decline in violent crimes in our country
and an increase in our national prison population. Released prisoners commit most violent crimes.
Gun control legislation, reform programs, victim rights awareness, and other programs are abundant in
our country, but do little to alleviate violent crime. In this paper I will try to present the liberal and
conservative views on this issue as well as my own views.
Violent crime is a complex problem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This differential is in part due to a higher rate of violent crime in the U.S. and in part to more severe
criminal justice policies. The reasons why other industrialized nations have less violent crime than in
the U.S. is clearly not because they lock up more offenders and thereby reduce crime. We could debate
the various factors that contribute to our high level of violence but a failure to incarcerate is clearly
not one of them (Mauer 21 24).
In order to analyze the decline in crime in the 1990s in greater detail the project team examined the
relationship between imprisonment and crime at the state level from 1991 to 1998. The reason for
doing so is that national trends often obscure substantial variations among the states in the degree to
which imprisonment is utilized as a response to crime. During the seven year period, for example,
Texas led the nation with a 144% rise in its rate of incarceration. Maine increased its prison population
by just 2%. The national average increase in the rate of incarceration was 47% (Mauer 21 24). The
statistics are significant and they are gratifying. We must be honest, too many families, and too many
communities, still live in fear. Violent crimes may be at their lowest levels in a generation, but even a
single crime is one too many.
Even if statistics indicate a decline in violent crime, citizens are still concerned about becoming a
victim of a crime. Our children cannot

Summary Of The Novel Inside Out And Back Again
Inside out and Back again In the novel Inside Out and Back Again written by Thanhha Lai, it s
explained how a young girl by the name of Ha and her family struggles when fleeing their homes due
to the war. It describes all the new things she has to learn and the struggles she faces during this time.
When they were forced to leave their country they had to adapt to many things such as new culture, a
new language and different new kinds of food. When they find a new home they have to adapt to their
different life styles. This makes the refugees feel like their life is turning upside down. Has life is

Civil War Reconstruction Research Paper
I bet you know about the Civil War but, what about the Reconstruction time period? The
Reconstruction time period was another important part of the Civil War. The reconstruction was the
time period after the Civil War. The Civil War was the war against the north and the south over slavery

differences between the north and south but, that did not mean that the north and south got along well.
The reconstruction started in 1865 and ended in 1877. The Reconstruction time period left a gigantic
impact on northern and southern americans.
During the reconstruction time period the south did not get along very well with the north. The
southerners needed help rebuilding their land. In the Ducksters article it mentioned, Much of the
southern United States were destroyed during the Civil War. Because of this, the north felt that they
should help them rebuild their land. They felt this way because they had just won the war so they
wanted to make it equal. Another reason is they were part of the same country now so they kind of had
to. Those are some facts about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The north was trying to help the south fix their land because they were together now. Also, there were
northerners who tried to make money by rebuilding the south (crops, schools and houses). These
people were called carpetbaggers. They were called carpetbaggers because all they brought with them
to the south was a cheap bag made out of carpets. Carpetbaggers were people who came down to the
south even though the south didn t want their help. The south didn t want the north to help them
because they were going to try to make money while helping them. Though not all northerners tried to
make money off of helping the south. The north helped the south move very far in rebuilding Those

Shrek Movie Analysis
Fairy tales don t always follow the same boring pattern; beautiful princess falls in love with her prince
charming and they live happily ever after. The movie Shrek, an ogre and beautiful princess fall in love,
though this beautiful princess has a secret; her secret is that by day a beautiful princess, and by night
an ugly ogre, at least in her eyes. Shrek thought she was beautiful as a human and as an ogre; this
hidden message is shown as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also in the movie, another implied
message is that people are prejudice to stereotypes. Though, once you truly know some one, it can be
really wonderful and life changing.
In Shrek, Princess Fiona is a beautiful princess who is locked away in a tower awaiting her ... Show

She ends up belching in front of Shrek and Donkey, also catching flies with a spiders web and handing
it to Shrek, and making a snake balloon for Shrek and accepting his frog balloon in return. Shrek and
Fiona end up falling in love, even though they didn t like each other at the beginning because they
assumed the other was not their type when in fact they are just alike.
Friendship is one of the most important things in life. This is also shown in Shrek between Donkey,
Shrek, and Fiona. Shrek and Donkey don t seem to get along at the beginning of the movie when
rescuing Princess Fiona from the dragons keep. After Shrek and Donkey save Princess Fiona, Shrek
overhears Princess Fiona and Donkey talking about her curse and how Princess Fiona thought she was
ugly as an ogre and Shrek wouldn t love her if she was an Ogre. Near the end of the movie, Shrek,
Donkey, and Princess Fiona all end up going their separate ways; Shrek ends up going back to his
swamp, Donkey has nowhere so he ends up just walking around the forest, and Princess Fiona ends up
going off to Duloc to marry Lord Farquaad. Before Princess Fiona and Lord Farquaad are married,
Donkey tells Shrek that they are friends and that Shrek should treat him more like one. In the end,
Shrek and Fiona end up happily together because of Donkey.
Though this fairy tale isn t like the average fairy tale, it still has implied and hidden messages. Shrek

Scamming Plan Research Paper
My Scamming Plan Drake had just hired me after I had left ExxonMobil. His dad had lent him enough
money to start a proper company but this was his last chance. He ordered me to find someplace in the
Everglades to drill oil because there was a newspaper saying that the government had bought the
drilling rights for oil. My boss s plan was to find oil in the everglades and then the government would
pay us a lot of money not to pump it. After a few months, I had gotten a six hundred forty acre lease
from someone named Vincent Trapwick Jr. It was known as Section 21 and I had hired some
geologists to see if there was any oil in there. After months of ground testing, I had come to the
conclusion that there was not enough oil in Section 21 to even ... Show more content on

I thought he had attacked Melton too so I wanted to get him back anyways. I went to his dad s house
and I agreed that I was a tax collector because he thought I was one. For some reason, he held my lips
with a plier and his bird attacked me. I tried to run but he kept me hostage for a few minutes. He
finally let me go and I ran and took his son s backpack. I bought another butane torch from one of my
favorite hardware stores. I then put in in his bag and put it near a fire. Then, I said I found the
backpack and reported it to the fire investigators. Even though I had gotten that taken care of, I still
had a few more problems popping up everywhere. A few months later, some of my pipes went missing
so I got very angry. Even worse, Melton had been assaulted again and the flags that marked where the
pipes would be had been rearranged to spell the word SCAT. Drake and I were getting very very
annoyed. We decided to hire someone or get something to track whoever was doing this to us. We
were in luck. We found a dog handler who had a dog named Horace who was a trained manhunter.
Horace sniffed the flags and looked like he was on a trail. He ran away from us and the handler
shouted his name. We reported the bad news to Drake

Arguments Against Full Inclusion
One of the biggest controversies in the United States education system is whether or not full inclusion
should be practiced in all schools. There are various reasons why people are for or against full
inclusion. The Learning Disabilities Association of America (2012) defines full inclusion as, a popular
policy/practice in which all students with disabilities, regardless of the nature or the severity of the
disability and need for related services, receive their total education within the regular education
classroom in their home school (p. 1). Full inclusion is a policy in which the ultimate goal is to
eliminate the need of pull out programs. Students with disabilities are expected to learn and make
friends in general education classrooms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When children are separated in schools, they begin to believe that one group is better than the other.
More often than not, elementary aged students refer to the special education students as the mental
ones. Although children do not intentionally negatively judge their peers, the segregation in school
systems makes them believe that is why they are separated. Batchelor and Taylor stated, Social
interaction within the peer culture is the basis from which friendships develop (Guralnick, 1981), and
is an important medium through which language, cognitive and social learning takes place (Guralnick
1981; McEvoy Odom, 1987) (p. 1). Students need social interaction with their peers in order to make
friends and develop social skills. When students with disabilities are all in one room together, they are
not being exposed to the people they will talk to in the real world, and therefore will not develop
proper social skills. When regular education students are integrated with students with disabilities,
they become much more accepting of people with differences. They make new friends and learn how
to accommodate for those who need extra help. Keeping children separated plays a role on the
reputation and mental health of those with disabilities. Abrams, Hogg, and Marques (2005) stated,
Whereas the experience of inclusion is frequently accompanied by positive emotions, the experience
of being excluded typically leads to negative emotions, including sadness, loneliness, jealousy, anger,
shame, and anxiety (Baumeister Tice, 1990; Leary,1990) (p. 64). Children are not born with hatred in
their hearts. They are accepting of everyone until they are taught to hate. Keeping students with
disabilities separated from students without them is teaching students that they are different and one
group is more capable than the other. Students with disabilities begin to

Hepatic Steatosis Research Paper
Fatty liver disease is a growing epidemic with a prevalence of 20 30% in the adult global population
[1] and in 70% patients with diabetes due to increased hepatic triglyceride content [2]. In patients with
non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), 50% will evolve to fibrosis, 10 15% to cirrhosis and 5.4% to
hepatic impairment [1] Hepatic steatosis may affect the whole liver diffusely or in focal circumscribed
areas near anatomical landmarks [3]. It can be identified in specific locations such as the gallbladder
fossa, the subcapsular region, and the porta hepatis. Focal hepatic steatosis may attain a wedge shaped
or geographic appearance with absence of a mass effect and visualization of normal vasculature
passing through these fatty regions [4]. The natural prevalence of hepatic steatosis was analyzed in the
abdominal CT scans of 1,425 healthy adults and revealed that fatty infiltration occurred in 9.7%, of
which 68% were diffuse, 9% being focal and solitary, and 22% being focal and multiple in distribution
and the prevalence increases with age suggesting that focal patterns of hepatic steatosis are not rare
mainly in older males with central

Chronicle of a Death Foretold is a novella written by...
Chronicle of a Death Foretold is a novella written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez taking place in
twentieth century Colombia. Marquez recalls the events of a murder twenty years in the past. The
victim, who is named Santiago Nasar in the novella, faces prosecution from his twin friends because
the twins sister states Santiago took her virginity. As honor was greatly valued in the Colombian
society at the time, their worldview led to the requirement for their family s honor to be restored by
killing Santiago. The result is an impending murder that almost everyone, except for a small group
including Santiago himself, knew about. The result is Santiago s death as he never knew what was
coming.

The audience is introduced with Santiago s background. Following the beginning of the tragedy,
Angela Vicario, the bride of a rich and honorable man, had a conflict with her new husband regarding
her virginity. To resolve her issue, she places the blame for her lost virginity on for this issue on
Santiago Nasar. [Clotilde] was certain that the Vicario brothers were not as eager to carry out the
sentence as to find someone who would do them the favor of stopping them (Marquez 57). This leads
to the start of Santiago s downfall as the twins now are determined to restore their family s honor by
murdering Santiago Nasar, which also brings more issues as the twins and Santiago are friends since
their childhood. The ending of the tragedy would be the actual murder of Santiago as it brings an end
to his life and leaves a tragic finish to the plot. All together, these three sections would fulfill the role
of a tragic plot and allows Chronicle of a Death Foretold to be considered a tragedy itself as defined
by Aristotle. Next, a Greek tragedy must contain characters that provide moral lessons to the audience
and must be true to life, or be realistic where they can be related to people. In Chronicle of a Death
Foretold, there is a multitude of characters that give moral lessons in one way or another. For example,
Angela Vicario teaches a basic lesson regarding truth and the power of words. It is most likely that

The debate of religious authority have also affected the Middle East. In the case of Shism, the right
leader of the Islam world comes from the hereditary and bloodline of Muhammad. This has caused the
division between Shi ite and Sunni Muslims. Imams play an important role for Shi ites. An Imam is
recognized to be infallible and sinless group of men that were chosen by Allah. They were gifted with
wisdom and are instilled with knowledge to represent the spirit of Muhammad. For Shi ite Muslims
they are qualified to be leaders. This shows how they differ with Sunni Islam. Shi ites are divided into

Muslims have been labeled with various stereotypes. It is under the assumption that Muslim women
are oppressed, Muslims have a low tolerance of other beliefs, or a Jihadist automatically assumed to
bring terror against Americans. Where are they getting this information from? The media has given the
nation false and exaggerating propaganda against Muslims. Instead of educating oneself on Muslim
culture and Islam, Americans run and digest a lot of outlandish stories and create these stereotypes
against a group of people. On September 18, 2015 at a Donald Trump town hall event in New

The Poem 1943 Annotated
My first thought while reading 1943 was that this poem is about WWII. The first line confirms that the
poem is centered around war. Hall began to compare training for the war to football practice in
highschool, They toughened us for war. In the high school auditorium Ed Monahan knocked out
Dominick Esposito in the first round. I don t believe they are used as central idea, but I believe the
author uses them as a device for making the reader feel a connection to them poem by using characters
full name. That humanizes them. He later mentions, Of the heavyweight finals, and ten months later
Dom died in the third wave at Tarawa. This is kind of unexpected and shocks the reader. These

Wright s Hunger
The reality of the past is that it is one of the few things that remain forever. For some, it is possible to
run from the past temporarily; however, it eventually catches up to the present and impacts a person
positively or negatively. In chapters thirteen and fourteen, Wright s revived childhood hunger for
learning causes him an internal conflict about his identity as an African American man with unique
desires. Following this idea of past meeting present, Wright re encounters his old hunger by
sympathizing with Falk and Mencken, men who have brought down upon [them] the scorn of the
South (308) for their beliefs and opinions, and immersing himself in literature. In doing so, he

Crucible Essay Example
Justice and The Crucible While justice is meant to be directed with upmost fairness and equality,
Arthur Miller s film The Crucible demonstrates that this does not always succeed, and in many
situations the forces of injustices are exposed. From different points of views, justice can be formed or
destroyed. In the film The Crucible, Arthur Miller convinces his audience that reason, emotion, and
character shows injustice throughout the social hardship in a Puritan community. Justice is one of the
main themes that is shown throughout The Crucible. Justice is meant to be administrated with upmost

Abigail Williams is one of the characters who uses reasoning to get people put in jail or put to death.
The court uses inaccurate reasoning to kill people and to get people sent to jail. The court also wants
to see the reactions of the people. They make a big deal of killing witches to make the people of the
town feel more safe and to help the people trust the court. In the end, it is just the opposite effect.
Emotion is how anyone reacts to a certain event or to what someone has to say. In The Crucible,
Miller shows emotion by the way he uses certain characters to over exaggerate things to get the
audience s attention in the court. By using emotion, he shows that through different points of view,
justice can be served or destroyed. In the film, Miller uses Abigail Williams to show how using
emotion can make someone get what they want. Abigail over exaggerates things to get the audience
and the judges to have a larger reaction than normal. In the court, she and her fellow sisters do things
to get the audience s attention. She acts like she sees things and acts like people are torturing her to get
them killed or put into jail. To the court, they feel bad for Abigail which makes them believe that
justice will be served once they put the convicted witches in jail to be put to death. If you looked from
the convicted witches point of view, then justice would not have been served. Character

Introduction Due to stiff competition, marketing has become an essential component in the
management of organizations. According to Turnbull and Paliwoda (2012) marketing revolves around
the manner in which organisations communicate with consumers in the market. There are two main
perspectives towards the understanding of what marketing is. From one perspective, it is the manner in
which organisations communicate with their consumers regarding the existing products and also
commication that is geared towards creating positive perceptions in the consumer market. Thus the
approach points out that marketing is a tool used for value creation. The other perspective of
marketing is more comprehensive as it encompases marketing as a tool and a process in the
organization. with regards to this perspective, Challagalla, Murtha, and Jaworski (2014) define
marketing as: the process of conception planning and execution, pricing, promotion and distribution of
goods, ideas and services. This means that marketing starts from the designing and producing products
and services, to when they are promoted and distributed to the consumers. Marketing strategies of
enhancing sales can be implemented anywhere within the

Swot Analysis Of Cadbury
Different Markets
Cadbury is the leading player in confectionery, with its Dairy Milk brand, as mentioned before,
accounting for over 13% of total confectionery value at the end of the review period overall. This
however wouldn t be possible without the company being highly visible in the mass media channels
with its tagline of kuch meetha ho jaye (let s have something sweet), consumer promotions and
flavorful malt based hot drinks brand Bournvita. Being the key innovator in packaged food in India,
Cadbury strives to maintain its top spot in confectionery in India and effectively expanded its presence

Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people tend to dismiss it
as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and premium, never any less. The
reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a major ingredient, having to be imported, resulting in
several charges and a higher inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural conditions,
for example, heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence cannot store
chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access.
Industrial Production
Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local production units.
Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and
Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is
not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its
mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the Maldives. The
positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be involved in third party
manufacturing.

Recommendations for Nike
NIKE Executive Summary by Lawrence Gimeno Recommendations: Make it count My first
recommendation is directed at Nike s push into digital sports. In my opinion the new accelerometer
based Nike+ technology is the birth of a whole new generation of Nike products and an amazing
innovation to motivate people to include sports into their everyday life. Nike has attained a leading
role in almost every one of the upcoming world wide sporting events, such as the 2012 Olympics, the
2012 Soccer Euro Cup, the NFL Superbowl, the 2014 Soccer World Cup and the 2016 Summer
Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Therefore the time is now for Nike to embed their customers and the fans
of these major sporting events in the experience through their new technology. ... Show more content

Looking at Nike s current flagship products and their presentations (NFL jerseys, Nike FlyKnit, Nike+
Technology it is obvious that the company is trying to move in the same direction as one company
who mastered this strategy Apple. Furthermore I think that publicly announcing these new product
presentations and staging them in an interactive and fancy way as well as making them available for
live streaming around the world on Nike s website or Facebook would quickly educate the potential
customer and create the same kind of demand like Apple is enjoying for their iPhone, iPad and Mac
product lines. Right now Nike is working on the development of a self lacing shoe as seen in the
movie Back to the Future 2 worn by the character Marty McFly . The company has acquired 65
patents in the process of constructing the shoe. The release of the shoe is rumored to take place in
2015, the year in which the movie takes place. Personally I see three potential outcomes of this move
by Nike. First of all, this technology is applicable to the athletic footwear products as well and could
revolutionize the fit of athletic shoes, giving Nike a further advantage over it s competitors by owning
a product that is very hard to emulate. Secondly it boosts the brands aura and identity significantly,
which leads me to my next point of Nike maybe moving into the fashion industry with this cult object.
However Nike has not yet confirmed any of this strategies.

Greek Influence On Society
The impact ancient Greece has on the modern day society, they have influenced the arts, theater,
mythology, architecture and democracy. The greeks have done a lot of things we still do today. We
have so much in common with ancient greek civilization.
Democracy started in greece and demokratia means power of the people. The greeks started
democracy and things like the right to vote and to choose their elected officials also to vote on laws
and other things like that like we do today. Greece was the first place that used a jury in the courtroom
we still use a jury today. Also greece payed the people on jury duty and we have the same concept
with that.

ones that also came up with the slanted rooftop we use still to this day. Also the white house in
washington Dc is a great example as to where we got the idea for the building they used classical ionic

Greece came up with theater as a festival devoted to the gods. Theater is an art of its own and is still

Heat Wave Causes And Effects
Description A heat wave is a period of excessive heat, which last two or more days. Heat Waves lead
to illnesses and could be fatal with prolonged exposure to these extreme conditions. High humidity
can increase the heat even more. Heat is very deadly because it is a silent killer. Heat related illness
and death can occur due to exposure in one day however it has a cumulative effect on the body. It is a
threat to the public health in 1995 between 14 and 20 July 485 Chicago residents died directly from
heat related causes. Over a thousand were admitted to inpatient units in local hospitals due to for heat
related illness like heatstroke, dehydration and heat exhaustion. Heatstroke victims suffered permanent
damaged and loss their independence along with multisystem failure. Thousands of other Chicago
residents were treated at local emergency rooms. When the heat subsided epidemiologist compiled
statistics on the mortality patterns during July. They factored in the deaths of people that had not been
taken to the Medical Examiner s Office. The death count based on medical autopsies determines
between 14 and 20 July 739 more Chicago residents died than in a typical week in July. Heat wave
deaths occur more in cities. The infrastructure of a typical city has brick and mortar buildings, asphalt
streets, and tar roofs. As a result, during the daytime they absorb heat and slowly release it at night.
The temperatures in urban areas are warmer than rural areas by several degrees

What is a PID number? Why are these numbers useful when you run processes in the background? Which utility displays the PID numbers of the commands you are running? Where does cat get its input from? What has to happen before the shell displays a prompt? There is no output from sleep (try giving the command sleep 30 by itself). The /etc/services file provides input for cat (when cat has an argument, it does not check standard input). The sleep command has to run to completion before the shell displays a prompt. The effect of mismanaged LAYOFFs on the remaining workforce and the effects, lack of management preparation, the human condition, and lack of mitigation strategies. We think that the problem with this article is that not enough managers or HR personal, know how to let a person go from their employment effectively. They sometimes don t realize the impact that it has on the other employees morals. Also, that sometimes companies don t take a closer look to make sure downsizing will be the answer to cutting costs like they think that it will. Every HR or manager should be let go in their lifetime so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trying to make a bad situation easier is often more disrespectful than being direct. Firing is something that is done privately and should be kept confident between the manager and the employee being let go. If a manager is letting, someone go for the right reasons the example should be evident to the employees as cause and effect; being held accountable for their actions. If the Manager is abusing their hiring/firing authority that would affect employee morale; forced silence, uncertainty, etc. Problem Solutions The options that were covered in the group discussion I feel very informative. When it comes to releasing someone, whether it is a termination or a layoff, it was discussed if training for those types of situations would be suitable, or if one could even prepare to carry out something of that delicate nature. You can train someone how to do anything, but that does not necessarily mean it will be conducted in the manner it was taught. I think it all highly depends on the situation and the individual who is delivering the news to the employee. The author s best point is one of the best solutions; transparency. Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting, working through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. Transparency is the most respectful approach that management can take as it shows them the truth of the situation and explains the steps being taken and why. I would add rather than trying to find another position within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While telehealth is an accepted resource to bridge the gap between local and global health care, integrating telehealth into existing health infrastructures presents a challenge for both governments and policy makers (HRSA, 2011). Today there are policy barriers that prevent the expansion of telehealth, including reimbursement issues raised by Medicare and private payers, state licensure, and liability and privacy concerns. Reimbursement Issues Reimbursement policies prevent the total integration of telemedicine into health care practice (Prinz, 2008). While the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) has not formally defined telemedicine for the Medicare program because the federal government does not mandate reimbursement for telehealth under Medicaid, states have the option to reimburse for Medicaid services through telehealth. For example, in states such as Alaska and Hawaii Medicare does cover store and forward applications, such as teledermatology, whereas 35 states allow for at least some reimbursement for telehealth services. Medicaid reimbursement for telehealth services by psychologists is available in 13 states. Coverage and billing requirements vary by state. Private Payers Currently, there is no single widely accepted reimbursement standard for private payers. Some insurance companies value the benefits of telehealth and will pay for a wide variety of services while other insurance companies have yet to develop comprehensive reimbursement policies, so payment for telehealth may require prior approval. • 8. Dorothea Dix Essay Dorothea Dix One of the Great Women of the 1800s Once in a while a truly exceptional person has made a mark on the growth of mankind. Dorothea Dix was an exceptional woman. She wrote children s books, she was a school teacher, and she helped reform in prisons. Some of her most notable work was in the field of making mental health institutions a better place for the patients that lived in them. Dorothea Dix gave a great deal to humanity and her achievements are still being felt today, especially in the treatment of those with mental disabilities. Dix started out though with very humble beginnings. Dorothea Dix was born in Hampden, Maine in 1802. Her mother was not very mentally stable and her dad was an abusive alcoholic. The Dix moved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dix remained there for a couple of years; she seemed to become well adjusted so she returned back to Boston to a new beginning in her life. When she returned to Boston she asked her grandmother if she could start another school in her grandmother s dining room. After a bit of opposition, her grandmother agreed. There, she taught until 1835, but she became sick with tuberculosis and also exhaustion had set in. Because of her illness she closed the school and then traveled to Europe to recuperate, under the advice of her friends and family. She again returns to Boston, months later, but this time she found herself with a very large inheritance that would allow her to love comfortably for the rest of her life.4 She realized that she was not the type to sit back and do nothing, so she accepted an invitation to teach at a Sunday school at the East Cambridge Jail in East Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1941. That s when her quest began. She was shocked when she saw that mentally ill patients were being put into the jails, and even more appalled at the conditions they were put in. This is where Dix helped humanity in a giant way. She made it public about the ways that those with mental and physical handicaps were being treated. Dix wrote, Men need knowledge in order to overpower their passions and master their prejudices. 5 She first appealed to the local courts and though the conditions were mildly improved she was not satisfied with the outcomes. • 9. Immigration Policy Essay In immigration policy, there has been several programs and acts that are represented through significant moments. The first to discuss is the Chinese Exclusion Act, which was among one of the first immigration policy to exist within the United States. As stated in American immigration: a very short introduction, Gerber explains that Dennis Kearney, a Californian politician, had a disdain for Chinese immigrants and feared they would take over the workforce in California. In 1882, Kearney succeeds in promoting his agenda and passes the Chinese Exclusion Act, which calls for the deportation of Chinese immigrant workers (Gerber 35). As such, the Bracero program is also another immigration policy that is significant in United States history. Also, this program was created with an intention for Mexicans to return back to Mexico after the war ended, but several of them stayed which is also why this program is significant in the immigrant narrative. Lastly, another piece worth noting is the internment of Japanese folk which happened after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Due to this act, Japanese immigrants and Japanese Americans were forced into internment camps, revoked of rights as citizens for Japanese Americans, and lost all their belongings, such as homes, businesses, and cars (Daniels 88). Between the three of these moments, they have differences, For example, they all targeted different population, the Japanese were placed in internment camps, the Bracero program encouraged immigration, and the Chinese Exclusion Act forced Chinese immigrants to leave the country. In this series there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even though some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their concept and ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the other. The Scopes Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case itself but what it actually standed for. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is a scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously neutral. But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every biology class has evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if that s the case, now a days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the churches themselves, though I am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in several preaching sessions for FCA in middle school and club preaching in high school and I have also attended church few times; and I have never heard of creationism until this trial and some of these preachings talked about Genesis but backed away from many aspects of it, so I believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my opinion, as humankind is focusing more on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence of evolution is being argued upon lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist, agnostics, and sometimes even parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of things because it is eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s human nature to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument and only is taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but using evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the rich to not help the ... Since the 1970 s, the middle class has been slowly declining is the assumption that McClelland makes. Through my life experiences, I believe McClelland has some strong points but could be wrong in some areas. And I believe where you are located can also makes a difference. In Edward McClelland s article, RIP, the Middle Class: 1946 2013 , McClelland argues that there has been a decline in the middle class since the 1980 s. He begins his article remembering times in the 1970 s, when the middle class was able to live similar to the upper class. He stated I saw the evidence of prosperity distributed equally among the social classes: speedboats, Corvette Stingrays, waterbeds, snowmobiles, motorcycles, hunting rifles, RV s, CB radios. This was his evidence that the middle class was doing well and prospering. He also gave an example of a couple he knew. • 12. Capital Gains And Its Effect On Income During inflationary periods, a significant portion of capital appreciation represents at catch up to higher prices as opposed to a real increase in income (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). Therefore, if a taxpayer holds an investment for a significant period of time, the amount of gain realized on the sale of the investment may exceed the investment s cost basis in terms of the actual dollars received, although a large portion of the gain being realized may be due to inflation as opposed to a true increase in the value of the investment (Jones Sommerfeld, 1995). Realization of Capital Income Another argument in favor of the preferential tax treatment of long term capital gains is that capital gains are not recognized annually during the years gains are being accrued. Rather than requiring taxpayers to value their capital assets annually and include the change in value in their taxable income, long term capital gains are taxed only when realized (Slemrod Bakija, 2008). By waiting to recognize the gain at one time during the specific year the gain is realized, the taxpayer risks being taxed at a higher rate. This is due to the progressive design of the tax rate system. Jones and Sommerfeld (1995) contended that had the gain been taxed in increments as the asset appreciated in value, being taxed at a higher rate may have been avoided. The preferential tax rate on long term capital gains offsets the artificially high tax caused by taxing the accumulated gain all at one time (Jones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Health Disparities And Health Care Health disparities are present in our health care system. Whether it be racial, educational, or environmental, these disparities exist and are detrimental to health care outcomes. While there have been recent advancements in how to eliminate or reduce these disparities, there is still a major inequity in health care for all individuals. This paper will include definitions of health equity and health inequity, steps to reduce health inequity, and two important decisions used to decrease in health inequity and why this reduction in health inequity occurs. It will also include further discussion on certain steps and decisions used to decrease health inequity. Defining Health Equity and Inequity According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), health equity is achieved when every person has the opportunity to attain his or her full health potential and no one is disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2015). Satcher (2010) reports that health inequities are systematic, avoidable, and unjust disparities (p. 6). He also states that the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that social conditions are the most important determinant of a person s health. Social conditions determine access to health services and influence lifestyle choices (Satcher, 2010, p. 6). These determinants must be addressed in order to reduce health inequity. • 14. Katherine Carroll s Alice s Adventures, Wonderland And... In most Victorian literature, curious women are severely punished because Victorian society prohibited women from indulging themselves in curiosity; this idea originates from the fear that female knowledge would jeopardize patriarchal security (Aikens 29). In contrast, the protagonist of Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (and What Alice Found There) does not receive punishment for her curiosity, despite living under Victorian conditions. Instead, Carroll replaces this prohibitive standard with a standard of freedom entitled to both genders. Most literary critics, therefore, accept Carroll as a feminist and praise him for challenging gender stereotypes. Others, however, are hesitant to do the ... Thus, while men commuted to their place of work, women stayed home to oversee domestic duties because all Victorians, even those who idolized women, saw [women] as the weaker sex, requiring protection and support ; they believed that to subject the female body to any manly tasks would be to abuse it (Cohen 18). Also, Victorian women strived for motherhood since marriage and reproduction were of utmost importance to them; they devoted their pre marital lives to obtaining knowledge ranging from music and singing to modern languages, solely for the purpose of attracting a husband (Corbett 22). Though based on general characteristics, these standards do not account for every man or woman. Who is to say that a man cannot be as nurturing or supportive as a woman, or that a woman cannot excel intellectually or fight adeptly? Is a woman automatically incapable of living up to her male counterpart, or is the capability to succeed in a field dependent upon the individual and not the gender? These are the questions Carroll addresses through his depiction of Alice, the empowering protagonist who inadvertently challenges gender stereotypes. Unbeknownst to Alice, her most prominent ... Violent crime and victim rights have become a major concern for most citizens in the United States of America. This differential is in part due to a higher rate of violent crime in the U.S. and in part to more severe criminal justice policies. The reasons why other industrialized nations have less violent crime than in the U.S. is clearly not because they lock up more offenders and thereby reduce crime. We could debate the various factors that contribute to our high level of violence but a failure to incarcerate is clearly not one of them (Mauer 21 24). In order to analyze the decline in crime in the 1990s in greater detail the project team examined the relationship between imprisonment and crime at the state level from 1991 to 1998. The reason for doing so is that national trends often obscure substantial variations among the states in the degree to which imprisonment is utilized as a response to crime. During the seven year period, for example, Texas led the nation with a 144% rise in its rate of incarceration. Maine increased its prison population by just 2%. The national average increase in the rate of incarceration was 47% (Mauer 21 24). The statistics are significant and they are gratifying. We must be honest, too many families, and too many communities, still live in fear. Violent crimes may be at their lowest levels in a generation, but even a single crime is one too many. When children are separated in schools, they begin to believe that one group is better than the other. More often than not, elementary aged students refer to the special education students as the mental ones. Although children do not intentionally negatively judge their peers, the segregation in school systems makes them believe that is why they are separated. Batchelor and Taylor stated, Social interaction within the peer culture is the basis from which friendships develop (Guralnick, 1981), and is an important medium through which language, cognitive and social learning takes place (Guralnick 1981; McEvoy Odom, 1987) (p. 1). Students need social interaction with their peers in order to make friends and develop social skills. When students with disabilities are all in one room together, they are not being exposed to the people they will talk to in the real world, and therefore will not develop proper social skills. When regular education students are integrated with students with disabilities, they become much more accepting of people with differences. They make new friends and learn how to accommodate for those who need extra help. Keeping children separated plays a role on the reputation and mental health of those with disabilities. Abrams, Hogg, and Marques (2005) stated, Whereas the experience of inclusion is frequently accompanied by positive emotions, the experience of being excluded typically leads to negative emotions, including sadness, loneliness, jealousy, anger, shame, and anxiety (Baumeister Tice, 1990; Leary,1990) (p. 64). • 31. Swot Analysis Of Cadbury Different Markets Cadbury is the leading player in confectionery, with its Dairy Milk brand, as mentioned before, accounting for over 13% of total confectionery value at the end of the review period overall. This however wouldn t be possible without the company being highly visible in the mass media channels with its tagline of kuch meetha ho jaye (let s have something sweet), consumer promotions and flavorful malt based hot drinks brand Bournvita. Being the key innovator in packaged food in India, Cadbury strives to maintain its top spot in confectionery in India and effectively expanded its presence in confectionery in 2007, launching Bubbaloo its first gum product in India. Notably, Cadbury s product portfolio outside confectionery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people tend to dismiss it as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and premium, never any less. The reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a major ingredient, having to be imported, resulting in several charges and a higher inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural conditions, for example, heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence cannot store chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access. Industrial Production Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local production units. Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the Maldives. The positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be involved in third party manufacturing. Confusion The brand is well known to many around the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Recommendations for Nike NIKE Executive Summary by Lawrence Gimeno Recommendations: Make it count My first recommendation is directed at Nike s push into digital sports. In my opinion the new accelerometer based Nike+ technology is the birth of a whole new generation of Nike products and an amazing innovation to motivate people to include sports into their everyday life. Nike has attained a leading role in almost every one of the upcoming world wide sporting events, such as the 2012 Olympics, the 2012 Soccer Euro Cup, the NFL Superbowl, the 2014 Soccer World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Therefore the time is now for Nike to embed their customers and the fans of these major sporting events in the experience through their new technology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at Nike s current flagship products and their presentations (NFL jerseys, Nike FlyKnit, Nike+ Technology it is obvious that the company is trying to move in the same direction as one company who mastered this strategy Apple. Furthermore I think that publicly announcing these new product presentations and staging them in an interactive and fancy way as well as making them available for live streaming around the world on Nike s website or Facebook would quickly educate the potential customer and create the same kind of demand like Apple is enjoying for their iPhone, iPad and Mac product lines. Right now Nike is working on the development of a self lacing shoe as seen in the movie Back to the Future 2 worn by the character Marty McFly . The company has acquired 65 patents in the process of constructing the shoe. The release of the shoe is rumored to take place in 2015, the year in which the movie takes place. Personally I see three potential outcomes of this move by Nike. First of all, this technology is applicable to the athletic footwear products as well and could revolutionize the fit of athletic shoes, giving Nike a further advantage over it s competitors by owning a product that is very hard to emulate. Secondly it boosts the brands aura and identity significantly, which leads me to my next point of Nike maybe moving into the fashion industry with this cult object. However Nike has not yet confirmed any of this strategies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
