Research Proposal on Database Usability Issues
There are different types of database usability issues; you could talk about the problems that occur
when a user views a database system .i.e. the user will see different from what the database contains.
But with the advance in design of highly interactive computer systems continues at an ever increasing
pace, with new developments in hardware and software being announced more frequently than ever
before. (Lawson, J. Yull, S. Anderson, H. Knott, G. Waites, N. 2005, pg 258)
So with the increasing interactive computer systems, within this research proposal I am going to talk
about the problems that a user may come across in the form of virtual reality VR, graphical user
interface GUI and human computer interaction / interface HCI.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel as if people recognise images before text. For example if we look at YouTube, people
automatically recognise videos before even reading its title or description. On a website your eye is
drawn to an image. So by having a program that incorporates high quality images, and maybe even
videos, you will be catching the audience s attention.
HCI or Human Computer Interaction is a process that evaluates the interaction between the user and a
program. For example does the user take advantage of features a program may have, do they use
headphones when using a program. Everything that is used to create a VR (virtual reality) or create
GUI (graphical user interface) is put into play at HCI.
According to (Dix, A. Finlay, J. Abowd, G. Beale, R. 2004) Human computer interaction is the study
of how people interact with computers and to what extent computers are or are not developed for
successful interaction with human beings.
So HCI takes into account both sides of the computers users. It looks at things like the computer
graphics, operating system, and programming language and on the human side according to (Cairns, P.
Cox, A. 2008) communication theory, graphic and industrial design disciplines, linguistics, social
science, cognitive psychology, and human performance are relevant.
So for a program to incorporate good HCI, it could contain features such as movable interfaces with
pull down menus, dialog books, check boxes, scroll bars etc. By

Digital Classroom Plan Analysis
The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it s Digital Classroom Plan. This plan
was created to support the instructional shifts required by Florida Standards through the use of digital
tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011), which
requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a requirement for
high school graduation. The plan also included professional development and curriculum resources for
teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards, online assessments and other
technology tools (Volusia County Schools, 2015).
Currently the district has the Virtual Online, a charter school, which uses Moodle ... Show more

To help with the implementation of training, two new positions will be created at the district level:
Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator position s
salary would be $69,000 for 12 month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000 for 10 month
position. These positions would oversee training during professional development and troubleshooting
issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These costs would be similar to
the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which will be eliminated after
Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through a grant through the State of
Florida for implementing a Digital Classroom Plan and would not be added to the district s current
budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and tracked by the Director of
Technology Services.
This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District.
Currently, the district is using the free access to look at the features of Canvas. Extant data was used
from the Digital Learning Plan to create this proposal. Canvas will eliminate the problem of training
for multiple software and allow accessibility through mobile devices. The cost figures are based on
information collected

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Honda
The appeal and policy of Honda advertisement We all need a vehicle at some point in our lives. The
variety of cars makes it hard to choose one particular vehicle. The online Honda advertisement
consists of images and text that delivered meanings and hidden messages to an audience looking to
buy a car. The article is trying to convince an audience to buy such quality vehicles. The messages
mainly aim for consumers, who need a basic and reliable car, for which applies to the majority of
Americans especially teens. The article reads, no down payment necessary. By engaging of consumers
wants in particular ways. The advertisement delivers information about Honda vehicles being better in
quality, reliability, and affordability than most vehicles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The image attracts a reader attention without actually reading the actual text. The articles talk about
several different models of Hondas, yet all models tend to have a picture drawn for them. The author
wants to assure audience know the models name and the evolution of Honda. The narrator establishes
ideas to keep in mind before buying a vehicle such as, look into financial risks and how to avoid debt.
Also the actual text goes very well along the image. The text provides examples and support of the
image, for the article talks about each model and what is equipped with. For instance, Honda civic lx
2013, Honda CVT and Honda accord. The models differentiate in size, mileage, engine specs and fuel
efficiency etc. Also the amount of horsepower in certain models. Americans cars on a national scale

Dissociative Disorder
Somatic and Dissociative Syndromes
Let us start by defining somatic symptom disorder, malingering, factitious disorder, and dissociative
disorders according to the DSM 5. A somatic symptom disorder is a disorder in which persons become
excessively distressed, concerned, and anxious, about bodily symptoms they are experiencing.
Malingering is intentionally faking to achieve some external gains, such as financial compensation or
military deferment. Factitious disorder is a disorder in which an individual feigns or induces physical
symptoms, typically for the purpose of assuming the role of a sick person. A dissociative disorder is a
disorder marked by major changes in memory that do not have clear physical causes. Are all of these
disorder legit? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is mental disorder where an individual overthinks about his/her symptoms. Thoughts are harder
to control than physical actions in my opinion and this is a disorder that is brought up because of
thoughts and emotions. When discussing conversion disorder, a disorder in which medically
unexplained bodily symptoms affect voluntary motor and sensory functions, the emotions that are so
hard to get rid of actually induce physical symptoms. Our mind and bodies are connected more than
we think and this disorder proves it. I find this disorder difficult to question is legitimacy because the
symptoms are real. Even though the doctors cannot find physical causes, they can find physical proof
of the disorder.
The last disorder to discuss is dissociative disorder. A dissociative disorder is similar to a conversion
disorder in that there are no physical reasons for the symptoms but the symptoms are real. Even
though clinicians cannot find physical causes, there must be something that happens with patients of
this disorder because most of the time the disorder appears more than once in patients. Whether there
is a small biological defective or a mental mishap, there is something that happens to patients that
makes them adopt the symptoms of this

Examples Of Motif In The Miracle Worker
Motif in The Miracle Worker The book The Miracle Worker is about a young girl, Helen Keller, who
was diagnosed as blind, deaf, and mute when she was 19 months old. Helen s family doesn t know
how to help her, so they hire Annie Sullivan to come and try to teach her. Helen had no discipline and
got away with almost anything, such as throwing tantrums, locking Annie in a room, and eating off of
other people s plate with her hands. Helen s family often doubted Annie and her ability to teach Helen,
but she still had hope for her. Annie insisted on getting two full weeks alone with Helen to teach her
discipline and to spell. When Helen s family finally got to see her again, Annie bragged about how
much progress she had made, but at dinner Helen acted up again. Annie took Helen outside to the
water pump and she spelled water. Helen finally understood that the finger game meant something.
One motif that fit this story is keys/locks. Two examples of this motif are Annie locking her and Helen
in the house alone for two weeks and how understanding that things had names was the key to Helen s
communication. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were locked into spending two weeks alone with each other. Annie knew that the only way to
teach Helen discipline and to spell would be to spend some time alone with her. The two weeks they
spent together in the house was the key to Helen learning to tolerate Annie. Annie said, Give up, why,
I only today saw what has to be done, to begin! I want complete charge of her. I ll have to live with
her somewhere else. Till she learns to depend on and listen to me. This quote shows Annie s
perseverance towards wanting time alone with Helen and how much she believes it will help. Annie
knew that the only way to get Helen to rely on her was to spend time alone with her and teach her

Colored People in Jazz by Toni Morrison
Toni Morrison chose the title Jazz of this book because jazz symbolize increasing complex styles and
that fits in the title because of the parts that happened throughout the story. It also symbolizes
movement because jazz is fast pace music and fast dancing so that is another reason why Toni
Morrison picked the title of this book. It was a lot of movement in the book with some of the main
characters in the story and their movement was fast just like jazz. I believe she also picked this title
because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high inspirations and that is what
some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can also tie into the story because some
of them showed a control over others affairs. The sitting and genre of this novel takes place in Virginia
during the Harlem Renaissance in the early mid 1900 s. Basically most of the events in the story took
place on a street called Lenox Ave. I can tell that this street of Virginia has a lot of excitement and is
always busy. Everybody knows everyone business. The people in Virginia very friendly too during
this time period. One of the main characters have a lot of friends that she can go to for information
about people around the neighborhood. Just like any other television show or movie from the early
1900s in the black neighborhoods every female can always go to the beauty shop to get the latest dirt
on people in town. My idea about the first main character

Foreign Exchange And Foreign Currency
Foreign Exchange foreign currency is the elastic link between various independent political states. The
Central Bank of a country frames the monetary policy to maintain a desirable Foreign exchange rate
regulate the flow of foreign currency in an economy.
Now let us understand the correlation interplay between foreign currency the various economic
parameters. In a floating regime of exchange rates, the interest rates in the country are adjusted so as
to vary its real exchange rates also as a measure to control inflation. Therefore a developing capitalist
country will have its Central Bank adopt the policy of keeping its interest rate as low as possible. This
will enable the entrepreneurs the various economic actors to obtain capital at a cheaper rate. It will
also help to maintain a low real exchange rate hence boost domestic exports. Growing exports will see
a positive trade balance or a Current Account Surplus. With a current account surplus the country can
make strategic investments in the foreign markets or acquire factories. This will result in a negative
Capital Account while indicating the presence in foreign markets. Such a cycle when sustained can
provide a drive to the economy increase the country s GDP improve the standard of living in it.
The sources in which a foreign currency enters a domestic economy are either by the way of Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI) or by the way of Exports. Foreign Reserves can also build up due to the

The Importance Of Animal Uses In Animals
Humans have used animals for food, transport, companionship and experimental research to develop
medicine and investigate the structure and function of the body. This dates back to 130 AD, where the
commonly used animals were pigs, monkeys, and dogs (Vaumans, 2005). Dogs are the species most
frequently used in the animal models and are referred to as default non rodent (Smith et al., 2002).
Especially, in toxicology studies, dogs are the preferred choice due to their similarities of human
toxicity (Smith et al., 2002). Today, 75 100 million vertebrates are used per year worldwide for
research, teaching, and testing (Vaumans, 2005). In many countries it is mandatory to grade the level
of discomfort and pain for the laboratory animal. Animals suffering from discomfort and/or stress can
have a change in their endocrinology and immunology results (Vaumans, 2005). By testing oxytocin
concentrations in dogs can help facilitate the transition into new social settings and into new
laboratory settings (Stallings, 2015). In addition, oxytocin plays a role in non social observations such
as learning, anxiety, feeding, and pain (Stallings, 2015). All laboratory animals fall under the Animal
Welfare Act, which promotes animal welfare of research and laboratory animals and promotes anti
cruelty laws. Currently, according to American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, (AALAS)
animal welfare and assess laboratory animals pain and distress is conducted by a trained laboratory

terrorism in the 90 s decade. At 9:02 a.m. CST, a rental truck filled with explosives is detonated
outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was all planned by two
former US army soldiers Timothy McVeigh, and Terry Nichols. Approximately, 500 people were
injured, 168 people were dead including 19 children who were in the daycare of the building. This
bombing shook the whole country. Luckily, the Army veteran Timothy McVeigh is arrested in a traffic

Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood Essay
Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood
Fraternities have been a major part of student life at universities all over the world since the beginning
of the 20th century. For many students they have offered an improvement in social life, more friends,
opportunities for athletics, and a great sense of brotherhood. Unfortunately, since their beginning
fraternities have been questioned about their activities. Many people today think that they subject their
members to harmful acts better known as hazing. Massachusetts General law defines hazing as:
[A]ny conduct or method of initiation into any student organization, whether on public or private
property, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any ... Show more

Fraternity issues like this one are very ugly and truly bring out the worst in everyone. I am completely
shocked that a lawyer would even take a case such as this one where a fraternity member is obviously
guilty. In another incident, university police have arrested three men on the charge of battery. Two of
the men alleged that they were hit on the buttocks 30 times with a 2 by 4, and another student said he
was hit approximately 10 times. The incident has raised numerous questions about the Omega Psi Phi
fraternity, according to campus officials. The event became public knowledge when Edward Pratt, the
dean of students spoke on the topic. Pratt summed the course of events as This incident is particularly
bad because it is part of a secret organization (Anderson). Pratt describes the situation as Underground
organizations feel more immune to regular laws and regulations and any kind of policing....They feel
they can violate peoples rights (Anderson). Pratt says many of the undergraduate pledges initially
would not speak about any of the incidences, because they were maintaining their code of secrecy
(Anderson). This code of honor is one of the main obstacles that investigators have to overcome when
trying to find the truth. What the school and the investigators have to understand is that no fraternity
member wants to be responsible for the possible end of their organization. This act of treason

Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States
Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a
disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to STEM
than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage, this will
help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two thirds of all
minimum wage workers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wage i.e. $7.25 per hour, someone
working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with minimum wage is
still below the poverty threshold for any family with children and single person is also not far above
the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would help increase the
wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage gap.
Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers. The
federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers $2.13 per
hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped workers and
are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than half of the tipped
workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers, and 46 percent rely on
government assistance to make ends meet.
As women account for two thirds of tipped workers, raising tipped minimum wage will help
decreasing the

Common Sense And The Crisis Paper By Thomas Paine
In Thomas Paine s pamphlet, Common Sense, he explains that the British government has broken its
contract with the American people by quartering their troops in the Americans homes and by unjustly
raising taxes, therefore requiring that the colonies secede from Britain. On the other hand, Paine s The
Crisis Papers serve to boost the morale of George Washington s Continental Army by using dramatic
and emotive language. Paine s differing tones in Common Sense and The Crisis Paper is a direct
reflection of their respective audiences: the former utilizes both pathos and logos to influence all
Americans, while the latter primarily uses pathos to affect the revolutionary forces. Common Sense
and The Crisis Papers share an overlying theme of monarchy, especially Britain s, being an
unnecessary evil that must be removed from society. In both works, Paine portrays England s King
George III as the reason for all the colonies struggles, falsely claiming that the British had unrightfully
raised taxes and that he had no intention of restoring the relationship between the colonies and their
mother country as there was an ever growing number of British soldiers ... Show more content on

In Common Sense, the Revolutionary War had not officially begun, and he attempts to convince the
entire nation that secession from Britain is their only logical option. The title, Common Sense,
displays this especially. It implies that anyone with common sense should grasp the necessity of
America s separation from Britain, as the British had made no effort to reconcile with the colonies.
Pain, in contrast, wrote The Crisis Papers after the war began, so his focus was to convince the people
that the war must continue, regardless of their initial defeats and the difficulties that the war caused

In Alabama, in the country, next to a dirt road and a muddy lake that was full of green water, where
you couldn t go to sleep because the frogs croaked too loud, there was a large house. The large house
was made of splintery wood, and was inhabited by only one person. Now, the lake that his house was
built on had been where a boy named Ronald Pratt had been ran over after removing the bricks from
in front of the wheels of a flaming portable, saving the lives of many kids after the portable rolled into
the lake and the fire was extinguished. One day, the man who owned the house was in his bed at 8:30

in the house. He claimed that there was a ghost in the lake, and that the officer must have been killed
by it! The detectives found this preposterous, and dismissed the man as crazy. At 11:00, the detectives
were still there. They heard the whispering. Maybe the man was right! They thought. Maybe there

the man moved away from his old house by the lake. The county renamed the lake from Lake Fletcher

Saint Augustine s Role Of Women In The Fall Of Man
Early Christian theologian and philosopher Augustine of Hippo once declared that we ought to wish
ours (teachings) to conform to that of sacred scripture. In this essay, we will be analyzing theological
perspectives of Saint Augustine and will discuss his ideas about the role of women in the Fall of Man,
his views on intentionality and the nature of evil, and the ways in which his teachings influenced C.S.
Lewis and his literally works in The Chronicles of Narnia. To begin, Saint Augustine had a utilitarian
view of women, and his writings would influence the early Catholic and Protestant churches for
centuries to come. In addressing the Fall of Man, Augustine believes that Adam and Eve had different
motives for eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden and is forced to explain these different
roles because of 1st Timothy 2:14, which states, Adam was not deceived, but the woman being
deceived was in the transgression. Augustine theorized that Eve ate the fruit because she saw it as
pleasing to the eye, and when she was approached by the snake had neither the wisdom nor the
prowess to avoid falling into temptation. She was, after all, only a companion to Adam and in the end,
Adam chose her companionship over the will of the Lord. There is also an early Christian theology
that supports the idea that beautiful women are temptresses, and modest beauty is much more pleasing
to God. We see this idea in many of C.S. Lewis works, but we will draw on an example from The

The Moon Landing Was Not a Hoax Essay
The Moon Landing Was Not a Hoax
Some Americans now ask, Was the moon landing a hoax? Is this actually possible; would the U.S.
government lie to our nation, let alone the whole world? The answer, no, should jump out. Hoax
believers (HBs) thought they researched this thoroughly and gained enough evidence to prove that the
moon landing was a hoax, but they don t know jack! Their whole case can be compared to a brick
house with one difference. It seems like the bricks have all the corners, sides, and shape of a house.
The evidence seems to be very strong, but the bricks are only one dimensional. All the supposed
evidence crumbles after a little research. In this report I will show HBs falsified case along with the

This case does not hold truth on the moon. Since there is no air on the moon, only the dust that is
physically touched is blown (Bad). This means that footprints not directly affected by the rockets can
still be. What else can possibly be brought up dealing with the absence of atmosphere on the moon?
The flag ripples in the photographs taken by the astronauts; therefore, the force of wind causes this.
This assumption is entirely false. In most of the photos, the astronauts are placing the pole of the flag
into the moon which of course is causing movement of the flag. Now, the biggest kicker is the
photograph showing the astronaut standing on the side of the flag. The design of the flag can explain
this. To compensate for the lack of an atmosphere on the lunar surface, the flag assembly included a
horizontal crossbar to give the illusion of a flag flying in the breeze (NASA). Now it is time for some
more nonsense. How did the astronauts survive the trip to the moon if they needed to pass through Van
Alen s Ring? For everyone that does not know, Van Alen s Ring is a ring of radiation that completely
surrounds Earth 500 miles above it s surface. Yes, they would have been affected if the metal
surrounding the spaceship did not protect them , but that s the thing the metal blocked must of the

In this experiment, Eisenberger, Master, Inagaki, Taylor, Shirinyan, Lieberman, and Naliboff further
research the hypothesis that attachment figures may act as safety signal to an individual during a
threatening experience observing changes in neural mechanism to support this theory, specifically the
ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the neural region involved in signalling safety and reducing stress and
threat. The researchers inflicted painful stimuli upon female participants who were involved in a long
term romantic relationships and observed activity in the participants respective ventromedial
prefrontal cortex as the participants were shown control images and images of their loved ones. The
results to this experiment were that the participants themselves reported less pain while viewing
partner pictures, reduction in pain related neural activity and increased activity in the ventromedial
prefrontal cortex, the VMPFC Activation is associated with reduced pain ratings and reduced pain
related neural activity. The researchers note that the greater the VMPFC activity, the longer the

Consumerism Has Changed Our Society
Consumerism over centuries has shaped our society into the world we live in today. Throughout our
history, the American dream has been to become the most successful person you can possibly become
given the opportunities presented to you. Consumerism has provided our country with a lot of jobs and
efficient sources of income for the general population. Consumerism gives our country an upside
unlike many other countries in that you could grow up in a hardworking blue collar family and
become the most successful person in America. Even though consumerism has a lot of positive effects,
it also could be the reason for a lot of society s issues that people have to live through day in and day
out.
A positive effect that consumerism has had on our society is that consumerism has made our society
more hard working and driven. Consumerism has also shaped our society to be more free spirited
because our society has been able to produce a lot of products, giving us choices like the type of
clothes we can wear or the type of house we can buy. Another positive effect that consumerism has
had on our society is that it has made us more competitive. On most suburban streets, you can see
numerous fast food chains right next to each other; this competition makes us become more creative
and more efficient thinkers. When a person has to make a critical decision like finding something to
eat for dinner, they have many options and maybe their decision can come down to being best tasting
food.

Reflection Paper On Medical Futility
Reflection Assignment #3:
In correspondence to Wicclair s testament to a pretense of scientific objectivity, comparative to a
patient s refusal of treatment, medical futility refers to conflicts between physicians and patients or
surrogate decision makers, predominantly parents, regarding the non provision of life sustaining
treatment with respect to palliative care. (p. 359. The juxtaposition of medical futility serves to
implicate the incapacity to perform the very purpose of medicine, which is to save life itself.
Questions regarding such provisions or the lack of, relative to medical futility, are inclusive to whether
a practicing and licensed physician has the moral right and duty to refuse to provide treatment judged
to be futile as well as whether the patient or parent has the moral and legal right to insist on treatment
whilst the doctor has a corresponding duty to provide such treatment? According to Daniel Sulmasy,
The notion of medical futility is a lightning rod, attracting all the static in an atmosphere charged with
rising patient expectations, rocketing healthcare costs and attacks on professional judgment.
Therefore, in deliberating Wicclair s article, it is imperative that we analyze the nature of the ethical
conflict surrounding medical futility with specific references to claims based on patient/parental
autonomy as well as identifying and justifying relevant professional norms that would normally
ground a duty to limit futile treatment.

Colony Collapse Disorder
The Buzz on Colony Collapse Disorder Denise Collins According to the National Geographic News
website, the domestic honey bee population has decreased 50% in as many years (Roach, 2004). Many
reasons are blamed for the decrease in honey bee numbers including diseases and pesticides. Scientists
have given the decline in honey bee population phenomenon a name, Colony Collapse Disorder.
While some experts maintain that Colony Collapse Disorder is a nuisance and not a catastrophe, it is a
serious problem affecting domestic honey bees worldwide. Colony Collapse Disorder is a
phenomenon affecting domestic and wild honey bee colonies worldwide. Basically what is happening
is worker bees are leaving the hive and not coming back but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Spanish researchers have recently announced they have found the cause of Colony Collapse Disorder.
The scientists are suggesting that the honey bees are being attacked by a fungus called Nosema
ceranae. Through further testing of infected hives, the researchers may have also found a cure. Simply
enough, an antibiotic has been found to be effective in curing the colony (Ford, 2009). I believe that
more research needs to be done to further evaluate the Colony Collapse Disorder. We need to make
sure that all possible causes have been checked and rechecked. There could be more than one cause to
the devastating disorder. There could also be more than one remedy to the problem. The first item that
needs to be completed is do extensive study of the both the wild and domesticated honey bee. This
study of both types is to be done to see why commercial honey bee colonies are affected more often
than wild hives. A healthy hive needs to be quarantined for the control. When a colony is suspected of
being on the verge of collapsing, miniature transponders will be attached to worker bees to track its
movements. Every aspect of the honey bees life needs to be studied and documented. The first sign of
a colony in danger of collapse needs to be documented. When a remedy is found it can be treated as
soon as possible. This step needs to be completed as quickly as possible before it becomes critical. I

Colin Powell Visionary Leadership
A lifetime of service to his country, Colin Powell had become a national hero right before our eyes. He
was selected as the only African American Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff to lead the strongest
military in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm War. His leadership was showcased as the Secretary of
State advising President Bush. Colin Powell was viewed the The most trusted man in America
(DeYoung, 2006) to American people. He was considered a visionary and ethical leader because of
wise leadership from his positions at highest level of government for four presidential administrations.
He has helped guide the nation through some of it most heart wrenching hours. Colin Powell is
considered a visionary because he developed the Powell Doctrine by using idealized influence to
persuade President Bush to use overwhelming force to essential win the war in 4 days. Also, he was an
ethical leader by challenging the Republican Party on race against African Americans as he supported
Barack Obama during the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns. Because of this support he fell into
the ethical trap of the loyalty syndrome to Barack Obama or the Republican party. I ll also discuss my
personal relevance to visionary leadership for leading the Fitness Improvement Program (FIP). I too

Who Failed Phoebe By Alyssa Giacobbe
The difficulty of creating a new and effective idea is immense in today s society, and establishing a
code of conduct is no exception. A code of conduct is important material that can be used to solve
many cases, but it is not a comprehensive solution when left on its own. There are many factors that
lead to the code to result in being completely defective, and one being that schools lack the necessary
ideas to help accommodate all specific needs and individuals. The code of conduct is a constant
debatable topic that has to be updated frequently in order to appeal to the alternating societal issues
that are bullying and harassment. This has become a substantial problem in society in the past
decades, ever since the introduction of social media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One important and unforgettable case is that of 15 year old Phoebe Prince. Phoebe was a vibrant,
intelligent, and popular Irish girl who had come to America to live the great American dream, but all
that took a turn for the worst when she began to endure online bullying and harassment from her ex
boyfriend s new girlfriend, and four other individuals. According to the online article, Who Failed
Phoebe Prince by Alyssa Giacobbe, Phoebe was constantly attacked, taunted and bullied by a group of
six students for a long period of time. The individuals accused Phoebe of many different ordeals
including the idea that Phoebe had taken another girl s boyfriend and called her heinous names.
Phoebe resulted in going to school officials, administration, and the school principal hoping that
someone, anyone of those adults would come to her aid, but none did anything to help her. The
constant name calling continued on all social media platforms and Phoebe felt like her world was
tumbling down. On the day of January 14, 2010, Phoebe decided that she would no longer want to live
life with six people constantly taunting so she decided to take her own life once and for all. Justice for
Phoebe s death consisted of all six individuals facing criminal charges in court and serving sentences,
not just legal, but life worthy. Even after Phoebe s death many of the same people continued to post
and comment terrible things about her and this was the time in which many students from the school
began to speak up. All students asserted that the school officials failed to help or even empathize with
any student with the ordeals that were endured and it was a great matter of neglect that was faced.
Inaction was a common plague at this high school because the administration did nothing and refused

Neoliberalism
As transnational corporations (TNCs) grow more powerful than some nations and dominate the world
market, governments favor neoliberal policies. Neoliberalism, a movement toward less government
involvement in the regulation of markets, illustrates the push for open markets and free trade by core
countries. (Knox, 299) Since the core countries already gained wealth and power, they possess the
means to adopt neoliberal policies without the fear of being exploited. Without state intervention, the
TNCs form monopolies and outsource labor to the cheapest bidder without concern for the factory
conditions. Many allege social goals and standards must be abandoned for the profitability of
business. (Knox, 299). Others claim making the markets open and ... Show more content on

The consumer must be aware of what they are buying and how this affects the planet. By making the
consumer more aware, they will be able to make decisions on which transnational corporation to

believe that since they are far away from the people in the sweatshops that it does not affect their
everyday lives. However, everyday one uses something that was made in an overseas factory without
thinking about it. If the cognitive distance between the workers and the consumers were diminished,
the consumer may think twice about what they are using. Another way to save the planet would be to

The Short Life Of Francis Macomber Analysis
In the short story The Short Life of Francis Macomber, Hemingway portrays many emotions and
motivating forces behind the characters intentions. Ernest Hemingway experienced many historical
events in his lifetime. Throughout these experiences, he endured humiliation and disappointment from
wanting to join the military, but unable to due to a health condition. Hemingway also underwent a
divorce four times. These experiences help influence Hemingway s writing style, especially in The
Short Life of Francis Macomber when he demonstrates the challenges the characters undergo
throughout the short story. This story is about the experience of an American married couple who go
on an adventure in Africa. This adventure focuses on the big game hunt. If Francis were to kill the lion
he would enter into his manhood. When things do go as planned for Francis he faces his wife Margot
who is extremely judgmental of him. She never lets him forget about how humiliating he was to her.
This couple argues and manipulate each other. In Hemingway s The Short Life of Francis Macomber,
the use of interchanging personalities of Margot Macomber s reveal her true intentions in her marriage
between her and Francis. First and foremost, Margot Macomber is introduced as a beautiful person but
her personality is not initially described but the reader finds out that her relationship with her husband
comes with a deeper meaning. In the beginning, Margret Macomber is described by the narrator as ,

Italy Cultural Awareness
Culture gets defined as the shared behavior that usually exists within a given group of people, and is
known to have learned and develop with time through socialization in the families, social groups, and
schools. This group of people has to reach an agreement for that culture to exist. Culture awareness,
therefore is the understanding that someone has about the difference between themselves and other
groups of people from other countries or even other backgrounds. It could be differences regarding
their behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, norms and their values. Different people do things in a particular
way; they view the world in various manners and even react to things in a variety of ways (Whittaker,
A. 2010 ). Culture awareness in Italy is the focus of this paper.
Broadly discussed, Italian culture entails, arts, family issues, food, architecture, and music. Although
other ethnicities live in this country, it becomes known that about 96% of Italy is composed of Italians.
The country s official language is Italian, and majority speaks it as their primary language. The Italian
family became viewed as a significant value. Most dwell in extended families rather than the nuclear
family who are only composed of father, mother, and children. The families gather for multiple
occasions throughout the year, and even more for no special occasion at all except to be with one

The Importance Of My Best Friend
When I was younger I always wanted a friend, a best friend, a friend that I could confide in and would
always be there for me. Throughout the years I ve had several male and female friends but none scared
me as bad as my so called best friend my 12th grade year. In summer of 2007 I moved from Jackson
to Crockett county because my mother got a divorce. At the time, I didn t have my license so I could
drive myself to school so I had to change schools. There was this girl named Nicole who lived down
the street from my grandmother. Me and her had grown close to throughout the years because on the
weekends or during the summertime I would spend a lot of time at my grandmothers. During the
summer Nicole and I would spend a lot of time hang out and she eventually got me a job at the local
dairy queen where she worked. By the time school started Nicole and I were inseparable, we were
always together. One night when we were at work a group of boys she knew came in. They kept
asking who I was but she told them I didn t want them and for them to stop looking at me. After they
left I asked her what did they say and she said that one of them liked me. After that she got very quit
and didn t say anything the rest of the night. When we got off we did I normal routine, we would ride
around for a while and talked about the latest gossip, listen to music and then go home. But for some
weird reason Nicole wasn t as talkative as she normal was, she most sat back and listened to what I
said and nodded when she agreed with something. After we got tired of riding around I dropped her
off and went home. The next day when I got to school one of my classmates said that a girl named
Ashley was looking for me. I was like why? I knew who she was but I didn t talk to her. Well
apparently,, somebody had lied and told her I called her ugly and a hoe. I was confused because I
never said that about her. After Ashley and I talked she said she didn t have a problem with me and
wonder what she did for me to call her that and I told her I did say anything. After that conversation,
everything was fine between us and we moved on. The next week when I got to school there was as
rumor about me being a gold digger and hoe going around the school, and

The Importance Of St. Bernard Of Clairvaux
Proverbs 5:23 says, For lack of discipline they will die, led astray by their own great folly (NIV). This
statement does not only seem to be the foundation of St. Bernard s teachings, but it is also provides a
glimpse to a life without Christian mysticism. St. Bernard of Clairvaux lived from 1090 1153 AD and
lived as a Cistercian abbot, acting as the mouthpiece for Christian mysticism during the Middle Ages.
Mysticism is defined, The spiritual discipline that enables an individual to experience union with God
or a divine principle (Quinn). Throughout St. Bernard s letters and teachings, he wanted the reader to
grasp the meaning and necessary steps to have an established relationship with Christ. St. Bernard of
Clairvaux was a mediator for Christian Mysticism because his teachings reflected mysticism s values
of discipline, obedience, and selflessness. St. Bernard stressed the importance of discipline, as it is not
only beneficial for someone to strengthen their relationship with Christ, but it is necessary for
someone to discipline themselves in order to draw closer to Christ. St. Bernard says in Some Letters of
Saint Bernard, Abbot of Clairvaux, Thus I have determined to follow him as master always and
everywhere, but on the condition never to deviate from the authority of the Rule, which, as he himself
is witness, I have sworn and determined to keep (St. Bernard). In this excerpt of St. Bernard, he is
illustrating that the person must refrain from things that are

Aesthetic Sentiment and Judgement According to David Hume, a great philosopher in 18th century,
Beauty in things exists in the mind which contemplates them. As a result, good art is the judgement of
individual base on their positive sentiment toward an artwork, and that is called the taste of art.
Besides, David Hume also believes there is something will make an artwork better than others. To
experience that belief, after falling in love with two artworks A Bull Fight and The Bonaventure Pine
in the exhibition at Museum of Fine Art Houston, based on the personal taste of art to state that A Bull
Fight is better artwork than The Bonaventure Pine even though both are beautiful.
The first interesting artwork is A Bull Fight by Jacquez Raymond Brascassat (1804 1867), who is a
French artist. A Bull Fight is a European art, painted with oil on canvas medium, and published in
1855. Its dimensions are about 57x75 inches, which show a close ratio to the real objects. This is a

Persuasive Essay For Education
If you don t use it, you lose it. This saying is a 100% true about knowledge from education over the
years. The brain is a muscle that must be exercised like any other muscle. We have to continue to grow
and strengthen our abilities. One way we do this is by attending college to extend our knowledge in a
field of study. I decided to finish my bachelors after years of not knowing what to complete it in. Not
everyone takes the same path to achieve their goals, but it is a good idea for everyone at some point to
continue learning and perfecting their skills. The worst thing a person can do is to become content and
comfortable in their ways. We work every day to make ourselves better. We exercise and do things to
improve your physical appearance. Why would we not do the same for our minds? There are many
sayings and clichés out there about why we should continue learning. These sayings aren t in vein,
without knowledge we are doomed to make mistakes of the past or miss out on new opportunities .
Knowledge gives us the confidence to step out of our comfort zone and try new ideas; it also helps us
not make the same mistakes of previous people. We grow and try to perfect our crafts so we are
adaptable, forward focused employees. In this paper I will discuss why I decided to continue my
education and why I think it is a good idea for everyone else too. My path was not a traditional one. I
went to college right out of high school, which sounds traditional, but I did not finish. I took classes
for two years. I was young and thought I knew what I wanted to do, but I really had no idea. I bounced
around from field to field. I started my freshman year majoring in Zoology and ending my time there
in Public Relations. After $40,000 in student loan debt, I decided it was best if I took time off to figure
out what I wanted to get my degree in. I moved home and worked odd jobs just trying to figure out
what I wanted to do in life. It wasn t until 2008 when I started working for an industrial supply
company that I realized I needed to finish my bachelors. It was the first job I had that I saw potential
and growth. The position I took was a sales/management role. The position involved inventory
management, billing,

  • 2. Research Proposal on Database Usability Issues There are different types of database usability issues; you could talk about the problems that occur when a user views a database system .i.e. the user will see different from what the database contains. But with the advance in design of highly interactive computer systems continues at an ever increasing pace, with new developments in hardware and software being announced more frequently than ever before. (Lawson, J. Yull, S. Anderson, H. Knott, G. Waites, N. 2005, pg 258) So with the increasing interactive computer systems, within this research proposal I am going to talk about the problems that a user may come across in the form of virtual reality VR, graphical user interface GUI and human computer interaction / interface HCI. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel as if people recognise images before text. For example if we look at YouTube, people automatically recognise videos before even reading its title or description. On a website your eye is drawn to an image. So by having a program that incorporates high quality images, and maybe even videos, you will be catching the audience s attention. HCI or Human Computer Interaction is a process that evaluates the interaction between the user and a program. For example does the user take advantage of features a program may have, do they use headphones when using a program. Everything that is used to create a VR (virtual reality) or create GUI (graphical user interface) is put into play at HCI. According to (Dix, A. Finlay, J. Abowd, G. Beale, R. 2004) Human computer interaction is the study of how people interact with computers and to what extent computers are or are not developed for successful interaction with human beings. So HCI takes into account both sides of the computers users. It looks at things like the computer graphics, operating system, and programming language and on the human side according to (Cairns, P. Cox, A. 2008) communication theory, graphic and industrial design disciplines, linguistics, social science, cognitive psychology, and human performance are relevant. So for a program to incorporate good HCI, it could contain features such as movable interfaces with pull down menus, dialog books, check boxes, scroll bars etc. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Digital Classroom Plan Analysis The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it s Digital Classroom Plan. This plan was created to support the instructional shifts required by Florida Standards through the use of digital tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011), which requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a requirement for high school graduation. The plan also included professional development and curriculum resources for teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards, online assessments and other technology tools (Volusia County Schools, 2015). To help with the implementation of training, two new positions will be created at the district level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator position s salary would be $69,000 for 12 month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000 for 10 month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which will be eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a Digital Classroom Plan and would not be added to the district s current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and tracked by the Director of Technology Services. This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District. Currently, the district is using the free access to look at the features of Canvas. Extant data was used from the Digital Learning Plan to create this proposal. Canvas will eliminate the problem of training for multiple software and allow accessibility through mobile devices. • 5. Dissociative Disorder Somatic and Dissociative Syndromes Let us start by defining somatic symptom disorder, malingering, factitious disorder, and dissociative disorders according to the DSM 5. A somatic symptom disorder is a disorder in which persons become excessively distressed, concerned, and anxious, about bodily symptoms they are experiencing. Malingering is intentionally faking to achieve some external gains, such as financial compensation or military deferment. Factitious disorder is a disorder in which an individual feigns or induces physical symptoms, typically for the purpose of assuming the role of a sick person. A dissociative disorder is a disorder marked by major changes in memory that do not have clear physical causes. Are all of these disorder legit? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is mental disorder where an individual overthinks about his/her symptoms. Thoughts are harder to control than physical actions in my opinion and this is a disorder that is brought up because of thoughts and emotions. When discussing conversion disorder, a disorder in which medically unexplained bodily symptoms affect voluntary motor and sensory functions, the emotions that are so hard to get rid of actually induce physical symptoms. Our mind and bodies are connected more than we think and this disorder proves it. I find this disorder difficult to question is legitimacy because the symptoms are real. Even though the doctors cannot find physical causes, they can find physical proof of the disorder. The last disorder to discuss is dissociative disorder. A dissociative disorder is similar to a conversion disorder in that there are no physical reasons for the symptoms but the symptoms are real. Even though clinicians cannot find physical causes, there must be something that happens with patients of this disorder because most of the time the disorder appears more than once in patients. Whether there is a small biological defective or a mental mishap, there is something that happens to patients that makes them adopt the symptoms of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Motif In The Miracle Worker Motif in The Miracle Worker The book The Miracle Worker is about a young girl, Helen Keller, who was diagnosed as blind, deaf, and mute when she was 19 months old. Helen s family doesn t know how to help her, so they hire Annie Sullivan to come and try to teach her. Helen had no discipline and got away with almost anything, such as throwing tantrums, locking Annie in a room, and eating off of other people s plate with her hands. Helen s family often doubted Annie and her ability to teach Helen, but she still had hope for her. Annie insisted on getting two full weeks alone with Helen to teach her discipline and to spell. When Helen s family finally got to see her again, Annie bragged about how much progress she had made, but at dinner Helen acted up again. Annie took Helen outside to the water pump and she spelled water. Helen finally understood that the finger game meant something. One motif that fit this story is keys/locks. • 7. Colored People in Jazz by Toni Morrison Toni Morrison chose the title Jazz of this book because jazz symbolize increasing complex styles and that fits in the title because of the parts that happened throughout the story. It also symbolizes movement because jazz is fast pace music and fast dancing so that is another reason why Toni Morrison picked the title of this book. It was a lot of movement in the book with some of the main characters in the story and their movement was fast just like jazz. I believe she also picked this title because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high inspirations and that is what some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can also tie into the story because some of them showed a control over others affairs. The sitting and genre of this novel takes place in Virginia during the Harlem Renaissance in the early mid 1900 s. Basically most of the events in the story took place on a street called Lenox Ave. I can tell that this street of Virginia has a lot of excitement and is always busy. Everybody knows everyone business. The people in Virginia very friendly too during this time period. One of the main characters have a lot of friends that she can go to for information about people around the neighborhood. The Central Bank of a country frames the monetary policy to maintain a desirable Foreign exchange rate regulate the flow of foreign currency in an economy. Now let us understand the correlation interplay between foreign currency the various economic parameters. In a floating regime of exchange rates, the interest rates in the country are adjusted so as to vary its real exchange rates also as a measure to control inflation. Therefore a developing capitalist country will have its Central Bank adopt the policy of keeping its interest rate as low as possible. This will enable the entrepreneurs the various economic actors to obtain capital at a cheaper rate. It will also help to maintain a low real exchange rate hence boost domestic exports. Growing exports will see a positive trade balance or a Current Account Surplus. With a current account surplus the country can make strategic investments in the foreign markets or acquire factories. This will result in a negative Capital Account while indicating the presence in foreign markets. Such a cycle when sustained can provide a drive to the economy increase the country s GDP improve the standard of living in it. • 9. The Importance Of Animal Uses In Animals Humans have used animals for food, transport, companionship and experimental research to develop medicine and investigate the structure and function of the body. This dates back to 130 AD, where the commonly used animals were pigs, monkeys, and dogs (Vaumans, 2005). Dogs are the species most frequently used in the animal models and are referred to as default non rodent (Smith et al., 2002). Especially, in toxicology studies, dogs are the preferred choice due to their similarities of human toxicity (Smith et al., 2002). Today, 75 100 million vertebrates are used per year worldwide for research, teaching, and testing (Vaumans, 2005). In many countries it is mandatory to grade the level of discomfort and pain for the laboratory animal. Animals suffering from discomfort and/or stress can have a change in their endocrinology and immunology results (Vaumans, 2005). By testing oxytocin concentrations in dogs can help facilitate the transition into new social settings and into new laboratory settings (Stallings, 2015). In addition, oxytocin plays a role in non social observations such as learning, anxiety, feeding, and pain (Stallings, 2015). All laboratory animals fall under the Animal Welfare Act, which promotes animal welfare of research and laboratory animals and promotes anti cruelty laws. Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood Essay Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood Fraternities have been a major part of student life at universities all over the world since the beginning of the 20th century. For many students they have offered an improvement in social life, more friends, opportunities for athletics, and a great sense of brotherhood. Unfortunately, since their beginning fraternities have been questioned about their activities. Many people today think that they subject their members to harmful acts better known as hazing. In another incident, university police have arrested three men on the charge of battery. Two of the men alleged that they were hit on the buttocks 30 times with a 2 by 4, and another student said he was hit approximately 10 times. The incident has raised numerous questions about the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, according to campus officials. The event became public knowledge when Edward Pratt, the dean of students spoke on the topic. Pratt summed the course of events as This incident is particularly bad because it is part of a secret organization (Anderson). Pratt describes the situation as Underground organizations feel more immune to regular laws and regulations and any kind of policing....They feel they can violate peoples rights (Anderson). Pratt says many of the undergraduate pledges initially would not speak about any of the incidences, because they were maintaining their code of secrecy (Anderson). This code of honor is one of the main obstacles that investigators have to overcome when trying to find the truth. What the school and the investigators have to understand is that no fraternity member wants to be responsible for the possible end of their organization. This act of treason ... • 12. Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage, this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two thirds of all minimum wage workers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wage i.e. $7.25 per hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with minimum wage is still below the poverty threshold for any family with children and single person is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage gap. Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers. The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers $2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than half of the tipped workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers, and 46 percent rely on government assistance to make ends meet. • 14. Common Sense And The Crisis Paper By Thomas Paine In Thomas Paine s pamphlet, Common Sense, he explains that the British government has broken its contract with the American people by quartering their troops in the Americans homes and by unjustly raising taxes, therefore requiring that the colonies secede from Britain. On the other hand, Paine s The Crisis Papers serve to boost the morale of George Washington s Continental Army by using dramatic and emotive language. Paine s differing tones in Common Sense and The Crisis Paper is a direct reflection of their respective audiences: the former utilizes both pathos and logos to influence all Americans, while the latter primarily uses pathos to affect the revolutionary forces. Common Sense and The Crisis Papers share an overlying theme of monarchy, especially Britain s, being an unnecessary evil that must be removed from society. In both works, Paine portrays England s King George III as the reason for all the colonies struggles, falsely claiming that the British had unrightfully raised taxes and that he had no intention of restoring the relationship between the colonies and their mother country as there was an ever growing number of British soldiers ... • 16. Saint Augustine s Role Of Women In The Fall Of Man Early Christian theologian and philosopher Augustine of Hippo once declared that we ought to wish ours (teachings) to conform to that of sacred scripture. In this essay, we will be analyzing theological perspectives of Saint Augustine and will discuss his ideas about the role of women in the Fall of Man, his views on intentionality and the nature of evil, and the ways in which his teachings influenced C.S. Lewis and his literally works in The Chronicles of Narnia. To begin, Saint Augustine had a utilitarian view of women, and his writings would influence the early Catholic and Protestant churches for centuries to come. In addressing the Fall of Man, Augustine believes that Adam and Eve had different motives for eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden and is forced to explain these different roles because of 1st Timothy 2:14, which states, Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Augustine theorized that Eve ate the fruit because she saw it as pleasing to the eye, and when she was approached by the snake had neither the wisdom nor the prowess to avoid falling into temptation. She was, after all, only a companion to Adam and in the end, Adam chose her companionship over the will of the Lord. There is also an early Christian theology that supports the idea that beautiful women are temptresses, and modest beauty is much more pleasing to God. We see this idea in many of C.S. Lewis works, but we will draw on an example from The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now, the biggest kicker is the photograph showing the astronaut standing on the side of the flag. The design of the flag can explain this. To compensate for the lack of an atmosphere on the lunar surface, the flag assembly included a horizontal crossbar to give the illusion of a flag flying in the breeze (NASA). Now it is time for some more nonsense. How did the astronauts survive the trip to the moon if they needed to pass through Van Alen s Ring? For everyone that does not know, Van Alen s Ring is a ring of radiation that completely surrounds Earth 500 miles above it s surface. Yes, they would have been affected if the metal surrounding the spaceship did not protect them , but that s the thing the metal blocked must of the radiation from entering. Also, they passed through the ring in about a hour so there was not much time for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Article Summary Observation In this experiment, Eisenberger, Master, Inagaki, Taylor, Shirinyan, Lieberman, and Naliboff further research the hypothesis that attachment figures may act as safety signal to an individual during a threatening experience observing changes in neural mechanism to support this theory, specifically the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the neural region involved in signalling safety and reducing stress and threat. The researchers inflicted painful stimuli upon female participants who were involved in a long term romantic relationships and observed activity in the participants respective ventromedial prefrontal cortex as the participants were shown control images and images of their loved ones. The results to this experiment were that the participants themselves reported less pain while viewing partner pictures, reduction in pain related neural activity and increased activity in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the VMPFC Activation is associated with reduced pain ratings and reduced pain related neural activity. • 21. Consumerism Has Changed Our Society Consumerism over centuries has shaped our society into the world we live in today. Throughout our history, the American dream has been to become the most successful person you can possibly become given the opportunities presented to you. Consumerism has provided our country with a lot of jobs and efficient sources of income for the general population. Consumerism gives our country an upside unlike many other countries in that you could grow up in a hardworking blue collar family and become the most successful person in America. Even though consumerism has a lot of positive effects, it also could be the reason for a lot of society s issues that people have to live through day in and day out. A positive effect that consumerism has had on our society is that consumerism has made our society more hard working and driven. Consumerism has also shaped our society to be more free spirited because our society has been able to produce a lot of products, giving us choices like the type of clothes we can wear or the type of house we can buy. Another positive effect that consumerism has had on our society is that it has made us more competitive. On most suburban streets, you can see numerous fast food chains right next to each other; this competition makes us become more creative and more efficient thinkers. When a person has to make a critical decision like finding something to eat for dinner, they have many options and maybe their decision can come down to being best tasting food. ... • 23. Reflection Paper On Medical Futility Reflection Assignment #3: In correspondence to Wicclair s testament to a pretense of scientific objectivity, comparative to a patient s refusal of treatment, medical futility refers to conflicts between physicians and patients or surrogate decision makers, predominantly parents, regarding the non provision of life sustaining treatment with respect to palliative care. (p. 359. The juxtaposition of medical futility serves to implicate the incapacity to perform the very purpose of medicine, which is to save life itself. Questions regarding such provisions or the lack of, relative to medical futility, are inclusive to whether a practicing and licensed physician has the moral right and duty to refuse to provide treatment judged to be futile as well as whether the patient or parent has the moral and legal right to insist on treatment whilst the doctor has a corresponding duty to provide such treatment? According to Daniel Sulmasy, The notion of medical futility is a lightning rod, attracting all the static in an atmosphere charged with rising patient expectations, rocketing healthcare costs and attacks on professional judgment. Therefore, in deliberating Wicclair s article, it is imperative that we analyze the nature of the ethical conflict surrounding medical futility with specific references to claims based on patient/parental autonomy as well as identifying and justifying relevant professional norms that would normally ground a duty to limit futile treatment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spanish researchers have recently announced they have found the cause of Colony Collapse Disorder. The scientists are suggesting that the honey bees are being attacked by a fungus called Nosema ceranae. Through further testing of infected hives, the researchers may have also found a cure. Simply enough, an antibiotic has been found to be effective in curing the colony (Ford, 2009). I believe that more research needs to be done to further evaluate the Colony Collapse Disorder. We need to make sure that all possible causes have been checked and rechecked. There could be more than one cause to the devastating disorder. There could also be more than one remedy to the problem. The first item that needs to be completed is do extensive study of the both the wild and domesticated honey bee. This study of both types is to be done to see why commercial honey bee colonies are affected more often than wild hives. A healthy hive needs to be quarantined for the control. When a colony is suspected of being on the verge of collapsing, miniature transponders will be attached to worker bees to track its movements. Every aspect of the honey bees life needs to be studied and documented. The first sign of a colony in danger of collapse needs to be documented. This statement does not only seem to be the foundation of St. Bernard s teachings, but it is also provides a glimpse to a life without Christian mysticism. St. Bernard of Clairvaux lived from 1090 1153 AD and lived as a Cistercian abbot, acting as the mouthpiece for Christian mysticism during the Middle Ages. Mysticism is defined, The spiritual discipline that enables an individual to experience union with God or a divine principle (Quinn). Throughout St. Bernard s letters and teachings, he wanted the reader to grasp the meaning and necessary steps to have an established relationship with Christ. St. Bernard of Clairvaux was a mediator for Christian Mysticism because his teachings reflected mysticism s values of discipline, obedience, and selflessness. St. Bernard stressed the importance of discipline, as it is not only beneficial for someone to strengthen their relationship with Christ, but it is necessary for someone to discipline themselves in order to draw closer to Christ. St. Bernard says in Some Letters of Saint Bernard, Abbot of Clairvaux, Thus I have determined to follow him as master always and everywhere, but on the condition never to deviate from the authority of the Rule, which, as he himself is witness, I have sworn and determined to keep (St. Bernard). The brain is a muscle that must be exercised like any other muscle. We have to continue to grow and strengthen our abilities. One way we do this is by attending college to extend our knowledge in a field of study. I decided to finish my bachelors after years of not knowing what to complete it in. Not everyone takes the same path to achieve their goals, but it is a good idea for everyone at some point to continue learning and perfecting their skills. The worst thing a person can do is to become content and comfortable in their ways. We work every day to make ourselves better. We exercise and do things to improve your physical appearance. Why would we not do the same for our minds? There are many sayings and clichés out there about why we should continue learning. These sayings aren t in vein, without knowledge we are doomed to make mistakes of the past or miss out on new opportunities . Knowledge gives us the confidence to step out of our comfort zone and try new ideas; it also helps us not make the same mistakes of previous people. We grow and try to perfect our crafts so we are adaptable, forward focused employees. In this paper I will discuss why I decided to continue my education and why I think it is a good idea for everyone else too. My path was not a traditional one.
