This document outlines the organization of Module 1 of a MOOC on open education and OER repositories. The module introduces key concepts related to open education including the open source movement, open education, open educational resources (OERs) and open licenses, and open courses from OCW to MOOCs. It is organized into 5 subunits that include a pretest, videos and readings on each topic, research activities, and a final quiz. The module aims to explain the applications of open source, different OER licenses, and the impact of open courses on open education.
