This document proposes modifications to existing biogas plant designs to address common inadequacies. It identifies issues such as lack of raw materials like animal dung in sufficient quantities, low fermentation rates in winter, uncontrolled water levels, lack of technology, and oversizing of plants. The proposed solutions include using alternative feedstocks like agricultural waste, insulating plants and storing animal body heat to maintain temperatures, monitoring water levels with a technician, and accounting for uncollected dung in sizing calculations. The presentation aims to improve biogas plant designs and operation to provide more reliable and sustainable renewable energy production.
In this design, the digester chamber is made of brick masonry in cement mortar. A mild steel drum is placed on top of the digester to collect the biogas produced from the digester. Thus, there are two separate structures for gas production and collection. With the introduction of fixed dome Chinese model plant, the floating drum plants became obsolete because of comparatively high investment and maintenance cost along with other design weaknesses.

A TEXT BOOK : Complete and comprehensive inputs in Learning about Biogas and Biogas digestors:We have tried to take the mystery away from biogas.
Biogas is a renewable energy source with many different production pathways and various excellent opportunities to use.
One main advantage of biogas is the waste reduction potential. Biogas production by anaerobic digestion is popular for treating biodegradable waste because valuable fuel can be produced while destroying disease-causing pathogens and reducing the volume of disposed waste products.
Biogas burns more cleanly than coal, and emits less carbon dioxide per unit of energy. The carbon in biogas was recently extracted from the atmosphere by photosynthetic plants. Releasing it back into the atmosphere adds less total atmospheric carbon than burning fossil fuels.
Thus, biogas production kills two birds with one stone: it reduces waste and produces energy. In addition, the residues from the digestation process can be used as high quality fertilizer. This closes the nutrient cycle.

COMPARATIVE STUDY ON BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM COW DUNG, FOOD WASTE AND ORGANIC ...IAEME Publication
Anaerobic digestion is one of the ecofriendly methods to treat and dispose the biodegradable wastes and has more advantages when compared to any other waste treatment methods. Biogas production and composting of slurry from the biogas plant is one of the methods to reduce volume of waste (zero waste discharge) and maximum energy recovery from the organic wastes is possible.
In this study the production potential of biogas from bio degradable organic wastes such as food waste, cow dung and fresh organic wastes under the same operating condition of room temperature between 28ºC to 32ºCare compared. A pilot plant of 0.3 cubic meter gas holding capacity is used as digester.
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources which are replenished
such as wind, wave, solar, biomass and tidal power. Governments and companies around the
world are investing heavily in developing technologies to harness the power of clean
renewable energy sources because of their potential to produce large quantities of energy
without generating greenhouse gases which can contribute to climate change. Most of the
power generation in India is carried out by conventional energy sources, coal and mineral oilbased
power plants which contribute heavily to greenhouse gases emission.
Renewable energy sources consist of solar, hydro, wind, geothermal, ocean and
biomass. The most common advantage of each is that they are renewable and cannot be
depleted. They are a clean energy, as they don't pollute the air, and they don't contribute to
global warming effects. Since their sources are natural the cost of operations is reduced and
they also require less maintenance on their plants.
This is the PowerPoint presentation I used to teach elementary and junior high students about renewable energy. I recommend at least 90 minutes for the presentation, in order to get the most participation and discussion out of the classroom.

Animal manure is often utilized by the American agriculture industry as fertilizer without considering the potential energy production. It is well established that on-farm anaerobic digestion (AD) can be effective in providing energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and controlling air and water pollutions. Knowledge of the ADs on biogas production, digested and stored manure nutrients, and air emissions must reach parties of interest. A modular, pilot-scale, mesophilic AD system is being installed for the new swine finishing facility at University of Missouri-Columbia Research Farm.
How to Start Biogas Production, Biogas – An Intense Opportunity (Landfill Gas...Ajjay Kumar Gupta
Generally, biogas is a renewable fuel. In any country, for cooking or heating purposes biogas can be used as a low-cost fuel. Biogas can be used as a fuel in stationary and mobile engines, to supply motive power, pump water, drive machinery (e.g., threshers, grinders) or generate electricity. It can be used in both spark and compression (diesel) engines. The spark ignition engine is easily modified to run on biogas by using a gas carburetor.

The Biogas Revolution Powering Homes with Sustainable Energy.pptxKingYuvraj1
A biogas plant is a facility that utilizes organic waste materials, such as agricultural residues, food scraps, animal manure, and sewage, to produce biogas through a process called anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic digestion involves the breakdown of organic matter by microorganisms in the absence of oxygen, resulting in the production of methane-rich biogas and a nutrient-rich slurry called digestate.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2. ABSTRACT
Now a days demand of energy becomes a big crisis for world,
in order to compensate the crisis countries are producing
more and more energy and ultimately environmental safety is
becomes the major issue.
This presentation describes one of best renewable energy
source “BIOGAS PLANT” with the inadequacies in all previous
biogas project and some suggestions to compensate the
inadequacies. This presentation also describes the way to
implement the suggestion and the impact of this project in the
country.
3. INTRODUCTION
“BIOGAS PLANT” is one of the best and cheaper ways to
produce energy without affecting the environment. In
biogas plant the organic mass is converted into biogas
and fertilizer by anaerobic digestion.
5. Unavailability of dung
Low fermentation rate in winters
Uncontrolled amount of water
poured into reactor/plant
Lack of technology
Oversized plant
6.
7. 1. Unavailability of dung
Since now a days animal dung may not be
available in required quantities due to
reduced role of animals in agriculture,
various other materials such as molasses,
pressed cane stalks, various kinds of agro
waste can be used with animal slurry.
e.g. for using agro waste in biogas plant an
additional predigestor is to be added, since
decomposition time of agro waste is more
than animal slurry.
8. 2. Low fermentation rate in winter
One of major cause of the failure of Biogas
plant in India is low fermentation rate in winter
due to drop in ambient temperature.
we can overcome this problem by
• Providing a layer of thermal insulation over
plant.
• In case of individual household plant animals
along with their sheds could be shifted
near/over the plant, their body warmth will
keep the Biogas plant temperature higher
than the ambient temperature.
10. For community Biogas plant proposed
mechanism is
• Building a chamber under the Biogas plant
where the water would be stored for warming
purpose.
• A motor to drive water out of under ground
chamber for external heating.
• An external overhead tank to store water for
heating.
• For heating this water a small fraction of
Biogas could be used for heating.
12. • Uncontrolled amount of water poured in
rector/plant
A technician could be hired which would
guide people and check proportions of
water and dung before feeding into
plant/reactor.
13. • Oversized plant
In many case studies it has been found that
20-30% animal dung could not be collected,
so this correction factor should be added
while designing Biogas plant.
