Modeling of the damped oscillations of the viscous beams structures with swiv...eSAT Journals
Abstract
Mechanic studies realized on the two dimensional beams structures with swivel joints show that in statics, the vertical displacement is
continuous, but the rotation is discontinuous at the node where there is a swivel joint. Moreover, in dynamics, many authors do not
usually take into account the friction effect, modeling of these structures. We propose in this paper, a modeling of the beams structures
with swivel joints which integrates viscosity effects in dynamics. Hence this work we will present the formulation of motion equations
of such structures and the modal analysis method which is used to solve these equations.

Nonlinear Viscoelastic Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates – A Multi Scale...rtme
Laminated composite plates are widely used in modern structures. Resins of composites are almost made of
polymers which show time dependent and and in some cases stress dependent behaviour. In this paper, a
laminated composite plate is analysed using a multiscale method. At first, material properties of a lamina is
obtained using an analytical micromechanical approach called simplified unit cell method (SUCM) and
then in macromechanical level, Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM) is used to analyse
laminated composite plate. Schapery's integral is used to model nonlinear viscoelastic behaviour of the
matrix. Prony series is considered to define the compliance of matrix. Micromechanical process includes
obtaining overall properties of the composite by SUCM. Both geometrical and material nonlinearity are
taken into account in order to multiscale analysis of laminated composite plate.

Minh et al (2003) and Toshihiro Abe et al (2010) proposed a new method to derive circular distributions from the existing linear models by applying Inverse stereographic projection or equivalently bilinear transformation. In this paper, a new circular model, we call it as stereographic circular normal moment distribution, is derived by inducing modified inverse stereographic projection on normal moment distribution (Akin Olosunde et al (2008)) on real line. This distribution generalizes stereographic circular normal distribution (Toshihiro Abe et al (2010)), the density and distribution functions of proposed model admit closed form. In this work, there may be some requirements of finding out the coupling loss factors of system component. It becomes difficult to exactly know the coupling loss factor by looking at the behavior of the system. For this purpose, the numerical solution developed in this work. Initially, one need to extract the displacement, velocity and energy profiles of the system which has got the components installed for which the coupling loss factor need to be determined. Then the numerical simulations can be run for different coupling loss factor of the vibrating system and the coupling loss factor can be found when the simulation results match with the experimental measurements. In this paper the experimentation is carried out i for the model a)Pre-design application of the work developed. b) Post design application of the work developed. The numerical results converge very well towards the experimental results as the coupling loss factor in simulation is varied towards the actual value. Similarly, for the second approach the experimental results converge towards the simulation results of 0.15 as the coupling loss factor of the damper that is installed on the system is varied towards 0.15.

ABSTRACT : In this paper, the simulation of a double pendulum with numerical solutions are discussed. The double pendulums are arranged in such a way that in the static equilibrium, one of the pendulum takes the vertical position, while the second pendulum is in a horizontal position and rests on the pad. Characteristic positions and angular velocities of both pendulums, as well as their energies at each instant of time are presented. Obtained results proved to be in accordance with the motion of the real physical system. The differentiation of the double pendulum result in four first order equations mapping the movement of the system.
A simple multi-stable chaotic jerk system with two saddle-foci equilibrium po...IJECEIAES
This paper announces a new three-dimensional chaotic jerk system with two saddle-focus equilibrium points and gives a dynamic analysis of the properties of the jerk system such as Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits, Kaplan-Yorke dimension and equilibrium points. By modifying the GenesioTesi jerk dynamics (1992), a new jerk system is derived in this research study. The new jerk model is equipped with multistability and dissipative chaos with two saddle-foci equilibrium points. By invoking backstepping technique, new results for synchronizing chaos between the proposed jerk models are successfully yielded. MultiSim software is used to implement a circuit model for the new jerk dynamics. A good qualitative agreement has been shown between the MATLAB simulations of the theoretical chaotic jerk model and the MultiSIM results.

Comparison of a triple inverted pendulum stabilization using optimal control ...Mustefa Jibril
In this paper, modelling design and analysis of a triple inverted pendulum have been done using
Matlab/Script toolbox. Since a triple inverted pendulum is highly nonlinear, strongly unstable
without using feedback control system. In this paper an optimal control method means a linear
quadratic regulator and pole placement controllers are used to stabilize the triple inverted
pendulum upside. The impulse response simulation of the open loop system shows us that the
pendulum is unstable. The comparison of the closed loop impulse response simulation of the
pendulum with LQR and pole placement controllers results that both controllers have stabilized
the system but the pendulum with LQR controllers have a high overshoot with long settling time
than the pendulum with pole placement controller. Finally the comparison results prove that the
pendulum with pole placement controller improve the stability of the system.
VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF AIRFOIL MODEL WITH NONLINEAR HEREDITARY DEFORMABLE SUSP...ijmech
In the present work, the vibratory behavior of an airfoil is discussed. The airfoil is considered as twodegree-of-freedom structure with hereditary deformable suspensions. The weak singular integrodifferential equation is numerically solved using numerical integration method. Finally, numerical results for the creep response and resonance behavior of the viscoelastic materials were analyzed. These results are obtained for the perfect elastic and viscoelastic suspensions with the nonlinearity feature. As demonstrated in the airfoil model, the equation of motion with hereditary and nonlinear terms successfully illustrate realistic vibratory characteristics of two-dimensional viscoelastic problems.

Evaluation of Vibrational Behavior for A System With TwoDegree-of-Freedom Und...IJERA Editor
Analysis of the vibrational behavior of a system is extremely important, both for the evaluation of operating conditions, as performance and safety reason. The studies on vibration concentrate their efforts on understanding the natural phenomena and the development of mathematical theories to describe the vibration of physical systems. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an undamped system with two-degrees-of-freedom and demonstrate by comparing the results obtained in the experimental, numerical and analytical modeling the characteristics that describe a structure in terms of its natural characteristics. The experiment was conducted in PUC-MG where the data were acquired to determine the natural frequency of the system. We also developed an experimental test bed for vibrations studies for graduate and undergraduate students. In analytical modeling were represented all the important aspects of the system. In order, to obtain the mathematical equations is used MATLAB to solve the equations that describe the characteristics of system behavior. For the simulation and numerical solution of the system, we use a computational tool ABAQUS. The comparison between the results obtained in the experiment and the numerical was considered satisfactory using the exact solutions. This study demonstrates that calculation of the adopted conditions on a system with two-degrees-of-freedom can be applied to complex systems with many degrees of freedom and proved to be an excellent learning tool for determining the modal analysis of a system. One of the goals is to use the developed platform to be used as a didactical experiment system for vibration and modal analysis classes at PUC Minas. The idea is to give the students an opportunity to test, play, calculate and confirm the results in vibration and modal analysis in a low-cost platform

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

1. INTRODUCTION
Swivel joint is a spherical mechanical piece used as
articulation in the framework, which allows turning over in all
directions [1]. The swivel joint does not transmit moment. Its
action is reduced to a force passing through its center [2, 3].
The work carried out on the framework in beams with swivel
joints indicates that, in statics there is continuity of the arrow,
but a discontinuity of rotation to the swivel node [4, 5.6]. In
dynamics, frictions are often neglected during the evaluation
of the degrees of freedom of the structures containing swivel
joints. In this work, we propose a technique of calculation
which helps to evaluate the vertical displacement and rotation,
taking into account the frictions in the calculation of the
degrees of freedom of the structures in beams with swivel
joint in dynamics. The evaluation of these degrees of freedom
is based on the setting in equation of these structures in
dynamics and given their solutions by the modal method.
This paper is organized in the following ways: in the first part,
we present the model which enables us to establish the motion
equations of such structures. This step is followed by the
presentation of the solution of these equations by the modal
method of analysis. The last part of this work is related to the
analysis and the discussion of results.
2. THEORETICAL MODEL
When a swivel joint is inserted between two beams, the node
that makes connection between the two points, we can
consider that one of the nodes is embedded in the beam and
the other is a steering joint [1]. As an example let us consider
the structure of the following figure with a swivel joint at node

Figure 2: Modeling the swivel joints, node 2 with swivel
joint, node 4 with embedded node
Study of the swivel joint’s problem consists of determining the
value of displacements and rotations of node 2 and 4. In statics
several works are related to the evaluation of these degrees of
freedom [5, 6]. In these references vertical displacements of
nodes 2 and 4 are identical. The rotation of node with swivel
joint, node 2 is locally evaluated by solving the elementary
system of statics equations. But to determine the rotation of
the embedded node 4, it is initially necessary to make the
assembly of the global stiffness matrix of all the frameworks,
by taking into account the disturbance of the elements with
swivel joint nodes. In this work, we will propose a technique
to evaluate the same degrees of freedom, in dynamics and
introducing viscosity for the swivel joint nodes .The motion
equations of a framework in dynamics with external forces can
be formulated as following:
( )Mu Cu Ku f t+ + =&& & (1)
In equation (1),
M, is the mass matrix;
C, is the damping matrix;
K, the stiffness matrix;
F(t), is the external disturbance.
In general to solve the system of equations (1), inverse
methods are used, which consists of going from physical space
to space modes, to find the solution in modal space and to
come back to physical space [3, 6, 7]. In the case of
framework with viscosity, by considering structure of figure 1
example f, by using modal method analysis, we obtain a
system in the following form:

To calculate the rotation of node 2, we have to solve the
elementary system (1), by writing in the member of the
elementary force ( ) 02 =tf . But to calculate the rotation of
node 4, it is initially necessary to assemble all global matrices
of the structure. In the continuation of this work, we present
the solutions obtained in the evaluation of the rotation of the
node kneecap 2 on the case of figure 1 structure.
3. SIMULATIONS AND ANALYSIS OF RESULTS
For simulations, we will consider identical beams of constant
cross-section S, quadratic moment IZ, density ρ and Young’s
modulus E. The selected beams have the length L, of type IPN

joint under harmonic force against time
When we plotted the rotation curves as a function of time, in
figure 3, for t varying from 0 to 40 s per step of 0.01 s, we
observed the attenuation of rotation, which characterizes the
presence of damping. Beyond 0.12 s, rotation stops probably
because of viscosity. To look further into this phenomenon, it
is necessary to make several tests while varying the damping
ratio.
On figure 4, t varies from 0 to 40 s and we did not observe the
disappearance of signal. This is due to the presence of the
external forces which are supposed to be harmonic. With this
assumption rotation is maintained during the vibration of the

framework. But that in the case of figure 3 (damped free
oscillations) or the case of figure 4 (quenched forced
oscillations) a major analysis of these swivel joints requires
the comparison between the rotation of the swivel node and
the node embedded in order to better understand the influence
of these connections in the structures. This is the direction in
which we will pursue our research in this field.
CONCLUSIONS
The work aims at proposing a method of modeling beams
structures with swivel joints by taking into account the
frictions in dynamics. The Lagrange’s method allowed us to
establish the motion equations of frameworks. The technical
modal analysis permitted to solve the system of motion
equations obtained and the cancellation of the transmission of
moments in swivel nodes to the embedded node enabled.
Graphs of the results give the opportunity to see the behavior
of the deadened and free forced structures. But the completion
of these swivel joints study requires investigation of several
comparison and damping ratios between the behavior of the
swivel nodes and the embedded nodes at the node where there
is a swivel joint.
