Panic Of 1893 Research Paper
Panic Brian Populists
The significance of this triad is that they all relate to the unlimited coinage of silver in order to balance
the economy during The Depression of 1893, which was overall unsuccessful because William
McKinley (pro gold) won the election in 1896 and President Grover Cleveland made gold the main
money supply of the nation. The panic of 1893 was the worst depression up to that point in the U.S.
Thousands of workers lost their jobs, the economy was falling, and European investors were claiming
funds. President Grover Cleveland made things worse when he made gold the nation s money supply
and repealed the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890. If Cleveland had supported silver currency, the
nation could have had more money

Education Of Cyrus Essay
The Education of Cyrus is Xenophon s account of the development and ascendency of Cyrus, a young
boy who soon become King of Persia, and also a depiction of Persia and her people. Aristotle s
Politics, on the other hand, is a philosophical work, aimed at dissecting the political life and
determining how human beings should organize themselves politically. Yet, at their core, both books
are respectfully critical of the political life. The following will assess two apparent paradoxes that
appear to plague the political life: 1) with respect to Cyrus, the balancing of the noble and the good
and 2) with respect to Aristotle, the struggle between broad political participation and a virtuous
government.
At the heart of the Education of Cyrus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example on page 91 of the Politics can be applied to Persia. Cyrus, the most virtuous of all, ruled
Persia, which is something Aristotle would support: the most virtuous and best should rule. Yet, Cyrus
empire soon becomes a oligarchy as his sons take rule and solely value the goods, not the noble. This
fall from nobility and their dissension eventually led to cities and nations immediately [revolting] and
everything [taking] a turn for the worse (Xenophon 273). While the application of Aristotle s scenario
on page 91 does not perfectly fit this account, the revolting of the cities and nations can be viewed as
similar to the uprising of the multitude over the oligarchs. What is clear, however, is that the
abandonment of real, honest and true virtue in both cases leads to the ignoble and avaricious ruling
class falling at the hands of the discontent and downtrodden many.
What one can take away from both the implicit and explicit criticisms given by Xenophon and
Aristotle is that political life is incredibly messy and problematic and, moreover, the best regime, the
telos of political life, may not be unattainable. Both works indicate that virtue must be a main
component of the regime, yet it appears human beings have difficulty remaining virtuous in the face of
1) material wealth and 2) the allure of

Taking a Look at Slime Mold
INTRODUCTION:
What is a Dictyostelium discoideum? D. discoideum commonly referred to, as slime mold is a species
of amoebas that are soil living; they belong to the phylum Mycetozoa. D. discoideum is a eukaryote
that transitions from a collection of unicellular amoebae into a multicellular slug and then into a
fruiting body within its one lifetime. The unicellular phase consists of solitary amoeba feeding on
bacteria and reproducing by binary fission. When faced with starvation, the amoeba collects into
aggregates and develops into multicellular fruiting bodies. This particular multicellular organism is
only multicellular under the certain environmental conditions that demand of it.
THE LIFE CYCLE:
The life cycle of D. discoideum it is most easily defined as the starting with the spore stage. Spores are
very small, pod shaped, and capable of sprouting a unicellular amoeba when plated on moist agar.
After it has hatched, the amoeba enters a vegetative state during which the amoebae then feeds by
consuming bacteria, and they constantly divide to generate independent daughter cells. Once the
amoeba has reached a certain number it is more dependent on their source of food, they begin to
aggregate and stream toward the next portion called the main collection point. This is now making its
way to the collection point where they form cell streams, which then collect into larger rivers.
Streaming is the product of chemotaxis and in response to the waves of cAMP it began

The Government Of The United States
The government of the United States is divided into three parts the legislative, executive, and judicial
branches. The vast amount of control within this government is split between the aforementioned three
branches; and is also known as power. The definition of power as given by the Merriam Webster
dictionary is [the] ability to act or produce an effect , which in the instance of power within the
government would imply the ability to produce an effect on the economy or wellbeing of the United
States of America. The question is though, is this division of power equal? The Executive branch
employs more than four million people, the most famous being the President and the Cabinet. Their
powers and responsibilities include conducting diplomacy with other countries, the executive order,
nominating Supreme Court justices, and the enforcement of federal laws. Most of the power that the
Executive branch exerts comes from the executive order, an order given by the President in times of
national crisis that overrides almost everything; which can either be taken back by the President
himself or be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, who is indirectly controlled by the
Executive branch. When one of the justices on the Supreme Court dies or is impeached by the
Legislative branch, the President is required to nominate a new justice; who must then be approved by
Congress to advance to the Supreme Court. This is just one of the ways that the Legislative

Body Blows Are Parr
In the article titled, Body blows are par for course, but racist boos hit soul deep written by Robert
Murphy, Murphy contends AFL fans and opposition supporters should stop booing Adam Goodes and
yelling out racist remarks from the stands. Murphy aims this article at those against Adam Goodes and
those who are involved or might be tempted to join in the racial vilification. Firstly, Murphy argues
that while football players train for physical injuries, nobody can prepare to receive that kind of
emotional abuse. Secondly, he believes that when it comes to the game itself, Adam Goodes is one of
the best players of his generation and a hero. Lastly, he compares and points out the similarities
between Muhammad Ali and Adam Goodes, how they both were respected by their fellow athletes and
how they are both fighters.
Firstly, Murphy argues that most football players get used to the physical elements of football, but
struggle to get used to the mental elements. Murphy employs imagery in the phrase take a hit to
describe how footballers prepare for a game. He points ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Going To College
Going to college is a personal decision, not a public one. The decision whether or not to go to college
should only be the student s only, no one else s. Pressuring a high school graduate into going to is
unfair, why? The reasoning being is that not all high school graduates need to go to college in order to
live a happy and secure life. Education is not for everyone. Some high school students cannot stand
being at school at all. Why should people who do not like school go to college? The supporters for this
side, the side that disagrees, can see why people want all graduates to go to college. A lot of great
paying jobs require a college degree, that is a fact that nobody can really deny. The thing is is that a
graduate s number one priority

Case Against Timothy Mcveigh
When it came to the evidence and forensics involved with the Oklahoma City bombing, there was a
plethora of items to be used against Timothy McVeigh to show his guilt. To prove McVeigh s guilt, the
prosecution needed a motive. This was not going to be hard to do when McVeigh himself was so
outspoken against the federal government. As stated earlier, McVeigh was upset regarding Ruby Ridge
and also the raid at the Branch Davidian compound. But McVeigh also had what was known as the
Turner Diaries , which were antigovernment leaflets that the prosecution stated were blueprints for the
bombing ( Prosecutors almost through , 1997). McVeigh s very own sister also testified against him
stating how angry he was at the government, and that he was

My Writing Style Reflection
The only strength that I can think of when it comes to my writing style is expressing my ideas clearly
and concisely. The last assignment was a little bit challenging because not in a million years would I
have thought of active and passive writing styles. It s not that I have not been taught these skills.
However, writing has always been my favorite subject. Moreover, I am grateful that this class is
teaching me about writing on a professional level because this is a paramount skill to have in any
profession. The last assignments, Call and Domestic Violence, I struggled a bit because I classify my
writing style as passive instead of active. When I discovered that active voice was frequently utilized
in police writing, I was supervised. However,

Diane Arbus And Dorothea Lange
Before starting this project, I knew very little about photography, photographers, or exactly how much
impact photographical images have had on our society. I have never taken a photography class, or
researched too in depth about specific pictures or photographers. This project has allowed me to delve
deeper into the world of photography in order to understand just how much influence pictures can
have over society s beliefs, emotions, and understandings . I have have chosen two highly influential
photographers, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, who I have found to both resonate with me and
perfectly capture human emotions in way that moves others. Diane Arbus was a photographer in the
1950 s and 60 s. Starting out as a fashion photographer, Arbus quickly moved on to photographing
more impactful pictures, usually of societal outsiders ( The Cost of Diane, 2016). With striking images
of freaks, as she once named her subject, Arbus perfectly depicted feelings of loneliness and struggles
with identity. I believe Arbus resonates with me so much because of her uncanny ability to showcase
such complex and intense human emotions through photography repeatedly. Each picture tells a
different story with different struggles, yet each share emotions so commonly felt. These unalike, yet
similar photographs each hold a piece of personal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sir Thomas Crapper
Where would we be without the toilet? It s a common fixture in every modern building. Some call it
the latrine, the privy, the water closet, the lavatory, the head, the john, the loo, or even the crapper.
Contrary to popular urban legend, the toilet WAS NOT invented by Sir Thomas Crapper. Although, it
seems Thomas Crapper was a plumber and he was an inventor linguists still debate whether the word
crap originates from this man s name.
The first flushing toilet in recorded history was owned by King Menos of Crete over 2,800 years ago.
The Chinese invented their own form of toilet, as the earliest Chinese toilet was discovered in the
womb of a Chinese king in the Western Han Dynasty, dating back to sometime between 206 BC and
24 AD.

All of the sudden, having toilets and sewer systems that could control human waste became a leading
priority for medical experts, politicians, and the public. In 1829, the first hotel to feature indoor
plumbing was the Tremont Hotel of Boston. It had eight toilets built by Isiah Rogers. Until 1840, only
the rich homeowners and higher class hoteliers had indoor plumbing.
In 1910, toilet designs started evolving into something more like the modern day toilet. Gone were the
days of the elevated water tank, to make way for the close tank and bowl.
Packaged toilet paper is an American invention. In 1857, American Joseph Gayetty inventer, what he
called, Gayetty s Medicated Paper. In 1880 came the paper product used for wiping that came in boxes
of small pre cut squares, like we know today, thanks to the British Perforated Paper Company. The
first toilet paper on a roll was sold by the Scott Paper Company in 1879, however rolls of toilet paper
did not become common until 1907. The first two ply toilet paper was introduced by St. Andrew s
Paper Mill in Great Britain in 1942.
The first toilet brushes were made with animal hair. Squirrel, ox, horse and badger hair were found to
work well for this new household tool. Since then, plant fibers have been used, like the piassava which
comes from a Brazilian palm, and palmyra bassine from the palmyra palm of

At the beginning of the film Forrest Gump, society views disability as the medical model of disability.
When Forrest receives leg braces for his extremely crooked spine, it is then depicted that he is below

stare at him and make stereotypical comments. Although Forrest only carries an IQ of 75, Mrs. Gump

In the recent year and a half, citizens of almost every nation were exposed to information regarding
the mass surveillance used by many governments to spy on their citizens. This information, released
by Edward Snowden, confirms the long held theory that mass amounts of data regarding the personal
habits and communications of individuals were being collected and stored. This revelation has given
rise to a serious new debate: just how many civil liberties and rights should citizens allow their
government to ignore in the name of security ? Continuing this trend, the government of the United
Kingdom has recently enacted legislation that presents an alarming step forward in the world of
government surveillance. This legislation allows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While that may not seem like trouble, much less an invasion on the security and privacy of the user,
the recent revelations regarding the tactics of the National Security Agency and the Government
Communications Headquarters demonstrate that individuals are at risk. These revelations detail how
both intelligence agencies use information regarding the pornography choices of potential dissidents
in order to discredit them (Greenwald, Gallagher, Grim). One of the major fears of users under the
filter is that when they call their Internet service provider to be taken off the filter, they will be put on
a list and their names and browsing habits will be recorded. Sadly, there is no shortage of evidence
suggesting that Internet service providers willingly hand over their users information to governments
without much struggle, and in some cases they get rewarded for the service (Timberg, Gellman). This
threat of being put on a list forces some of the United Kingdoms users to refrain from opting out and
as a result lose the freedom to view certain content on the web. If this filter is extended beyond just
pornography (the example of controversial political views comes to mind), users who are on the opt
out list must then worry about what the government might do if they have a list of all those who
subscribe to alternate viewpoints. Some may scoff at the notion of the government targeting

Human Testing On Human Beings
Since the beginning of time in the medical field, toxicology has always been a profound question.
What is toxic? And what not toxic. This question has pondered medical professionals for years. The
toxicity of anything varies greatly, what can and is toxic to one person may not be toxic to another,
and so on and so forth, this also includes as to what dosage of certain medicines and chemicals fall
into the toxic category as well. What one person can inquest safely might kill another person? So how
do we determine what is toxic, and how certain chemicals effect humans and animals? The answer is,
we must perform test on something that is similar to the human species. Animals having similar traits
and features in the body have often been the experimentation method of choice. By using animals in
testing has raised a lot of concern and controversy over the years, but so has testing on human beings.
One of the most horrifying examples of human testing was during World War II, the Nazi party in its
quest to create the ultimate human species, performed a lot of testing on the Jews that were in the
concentration camps with horrific results. But one good thing did come from this testing and that was
the general knowledge of what a person could endure resulting in the better treatment of any species
being tested for research purposes. The results from various chemical tests have been carried out for
the benefit in the risks for humans, animals and the environment they are

Analysis Of The Book Redeployment By Phil Klay
Through history further and further studies are ongoing into the unseen horror. Some say it is caused
directly in relation to combat; others may say that it is from the images seen. In the book
Redeployment by Phil Klay, he develops several stories from fictitious Marine Corps veterans that
represent veterans one may encounter in the real world. Phil Klay s book contains stories of
relationships at home falling apart all the way to the high stress of patrols as Marines. With these
stories it better shows the unseen horrors of war. Many veterans return home with a serious disorder.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is the by product of war, and people need to know more about it to
help our returning hero s. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD for short, is very real. It does not
solely affect soldiers either. For example, my father, a retired firefighter, relives moments from when
he worked at certain times when images are triggered. However, the modern soldier is more directly
associated and found to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As Dexter Filkins, a former Baghdad
correspondent for the New York Times, stated in his review on Redeployment Armed conflict so
fundamentally alters the environment it takes hold of that no aspect of life escapes undistorted: not
love, not friendship, not sleep, not trust, not conversation. Therefore meaning when most veterans
return home, nothing is seen in the same light again. Phil Klay outlines several examples of this. Phil

Essay on Ethnography on Cambodian Americans
I chose Cambodian Americans for my target culture because it was a place I knew very little about.
My ignorance of that side of the world is laughable to say the least. Cambodian American was a great
choice because both the people and the culture are very captivating to me. While some Cambodian
Americans become very westernized, accepting most of America s cultural norms, some hold strong to
their Cambodian traditions and way of life. Through Geert Hofstede s Taxonomy, I will explore the
dynamics of the Cambodian American culture. Through Identity, Hierarchy, Gender, Truth and Virtue
I will attempt to describe a culture previously virtually unknown to me. I chose Hofstede s Taxonomy

While most Cambodian Americans are loyal to their own family units it is not uncommon for them to
be hesitant about close interaction with strangers even other Cambodians. The hesitation that some
Cambodian Americans face when meeting with strangers is due to the fact that the Cambodian culture
is one of high power distance. Hierarchy is determined usually by age or economic status. Social
hierarchy of age is evident in the greetings. Depending on who you are greeting determines the type of
greeting. If one were to greet someone who is Cambodian, they should do the formal put hands
together and bow. At chest level to someone who is of the same age or status, at mouth level to a
superior such as a boss and at nose level to someone who is an elder, such as a grandparent. (Vorani) If
greeting someone who isn t Cambodian, we just normally do the American hi while waving. It just
really depends. For the Cambodian culture, we have to make sure we greet using again the hands
together while bowing especially to those who are older than your parents. You also have to say a
formal saying in Khmer but I forgot the translation for it in one must to refer them as ming , bou , or
orm . This is based on both age and gender. (Eam) There is a clear delineation between superiors and
subordinates and between the young and the old. (Serpa)

The Importance Of Disengaged Students In Education
Teachers have been struggling with disengaged students for decades. In order to make any positive
strides in American education, educators need to focus on the one factor that can illuminate the
reasons for disengagement, the student. For the purposes of this paper, disengaged students are the
ones who do not exhibit active learning skills during a class period in school. These learners may over
socialize with peers, use digital devices throughout class, cut classes, leave class frequently, sleep, or
fail to submit in class and out of class assignments. In 2001, President Bush signed the No Child Left
Behind Act, instilling hope that the federal government could better hold K 12 schools accountable for
all students to have proficient academic outcomes (Klein, 2017). President Obama made changes to
the No Child Left Behind Act when 42 states needed waivers due to not reaching the proficiency
expectation. In 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act was enacted. This Act provides states with more
flexibility in order to help students meet proficiency. The Act also provides resources to secondary
institutions that struggle to meet graduation requirements ( ESSA Overview, 2017). In an effort to
align education across America, states could opt into utilizing the Common Core State Standards
beginning in 2009. This academic overhaul became the national effort in organizing education in
America by standardizing what is learned and when in K 12 schools. Currently, 42 states and the

Cloughbane Farm Shop Is Run By Lorna Robinson
Cloughbane Farm Shop
Introduction
Cloughbane Farm Shop is run by Lorna Robinson, Sam Robinson and Robert Richard Robinson, Sam
and Lorna s sons. The Robinsons have been farming at Cloughbane for around 150 years and is now
in its fourth generation. Up until 2002, it was, pure and simple, a farm, selling our beef, lamb and free
range eggs to wholesalers.
However in 2002 they were invited to be a founding member of the farm market set up in Dungannon.
At the market they sold their lamb and beef which they reared at the farm. They would leave their
lamb mature for 10 14 days on the bone and this was because they believed this gives it a better taste.
Their beef is left to mature for 28 days and this is to make it tender and also to gives it a better taste.
Thanks to the setup of the Dungannon farm market they decided to start their own business selling
their goods at their own farm in a shop. They converted and old pig house in a shop which features 12
foot butchery serve over counter, three other chill cabinets for their own and other locally sourced
products. They also stocked fruit and vegetables plus some ambient lines.
This year Cloughbane farm shop was nominated for 2 awards at the Grow Make Eat Drink 2016

other award was Best Food / Drink Marketing Campaign.

Irony in this story is a key to upcoming events that take place. The symbols of irony in this story all
represent death in some way or another. The graveyard in the middle of a field, which had six graves

columns right after they passed through Tombsboro. The tower in which the family stopped to eat
(Red Sammy s) looked like a tomb. The car in which The Misfit drove looked lock a black hearse. The

Does Our Increasingly Mechanized World Cause Us You Feel...
Does our increasingly mechanized world cause us to feel alienated?
It can be argued that life has never been so easy. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely
available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing.
Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of
overabundance and the freedom it affords us.
Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and a
sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and
overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher
quality and easier life.
Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result of
our incessant progression towards a brighter future.
Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and
purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I
think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern
times.
I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important but
also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue
within our society.
I will look at Marx and Engels.

It played a major role in causing the French people to express displeasures as well as going on to

Diderot helped revolutionaries lay the foundations of their attempt to remake society. Diderot s careful
criticism of Christianity throughout his work helped spread the ideas that the Church and its power
within the state required much needed reform. Later on during the French revolution, one of the major
factors behind the revolutionaries attack on the church is the criticism of its irrationality caused by the

is because of strong language, racism, sexual violence and others. Fallen Angels, by Walter Dean
Myers, has been banned for racism, violence and offensive language. Books have been banned due to
the contents in the pages (Banned 1). Reasons that books get banned are because of racial issues,
violence, witchcraft, and religion. For the past 25 years, offensive language and sexual content was the
most popular reasons for books banning (Reasons 1). When a book is challenged, it s usually by a
group of people who want to restrict or remove materials (Banned Challenged 1). The American
Library Association wants people to freely express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Grocery Store And A Gas Station
VI. Competition
Wawa is a convenience store and a gas station. In terms of the convenience stores, our main
competitors are 7 Eleven, Heritages, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. In terms of the Gas station, our
competition is against local gas stations with lower prices, and Sunoco. To start listing our competitors
in the convenience e store competition, 7 Eleven has 58, 300 stores in 17 countries. They are also
known for famous for their famous 32, 44, and 64 oz Big Gulp cups. In some locations they even offer
the Bucket Gulp. Some of their disadvantages is that some of their stores are closing and they are not
as popular in today s society as they were in the mid 2000 s. But Wawa however, we have been around
longer and have season deals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of their disadvantages is that if you take away the pharmacy part of Walgreens, it s not really
known for anything nor does it stand out to the corner store next door so Walgreens s main business if
off the drug market. Finally, Wawa s final convenience store competitor is Rite Aid. Rite Aid is a
drugstore chain in the United States and a Fortune 500 company headquartered in East Pennsboro
Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, near Camp Hill. Rite Aid is the largest drugstore chain
on the East Coast and the third largest drugstore chain in the U.S. An offer was presented by
Walgreens Boots Alliance in October 2015. Rite Aid accepted the offer and is currently pending
government antitrust committee approval. If approved Walgreens would form the world s largest retail
pharmacy chain in terms of number of locations. Rite Aid began in 1962 as a single store opened in
Scranton, Pennsylvania called Thrift D Discount Center. After several years of growth, Rite Aid
adopted its current name and debuted as a public company in 1968. Today, Rite Aid is publicly traded
on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RAD. Rite Aid reported total sales of US$ 25.5
billion in fiscal year 2014. In 2008, its market capitalization dropped to
Under $500 million. As of 6 February 2015, the market capitalization of Rite Aid was about
$7.15 billion. Its major competitors are CVS and Walgreens. Walgreens announced on October

Why Is Lady Macbeth To Kill Duncan
Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, the evidence shows that Lady Macbeth compelled Macbeth to
murder King Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame as
Macbeth. The facts of the case are, Macbeth killed Duncan by his own hand, but he hired assassins to
commit the murders of Banquo and Fleance. At the beginning of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth s
marriage the people can see they act as equals, one does not outrank the other. As time progresses her
true colors start to seep through onto the surface. Lady Macbeth portrayed herself as power hungry,
she will do anything and everything to deem the family name as dominant and successful. Lady
Macbeth brainwashed Macbeth into making him feel responsible for the death of Duncan. He truly
thought his fate was to murder Duncan and others in order to gain titles. She mentally abused him by
making him question his manhood. Lady Macbeth clearly said to Macbeth, Are you ... Show more

After Macbeth physically committed the murder with his own hands he felt immediate guilt and his
mind was all over the place. He even took the murder weapon with him instead of planting the
evidence on the chamberlains. When Lady Macbeth learned this information she was outraged. The
record states that she shouted, Coward! Give me the daggers. Dead and sleeping/ people can t hurt you
any more than pictures can./ Only children are afraid of scary pictures. If Duncan/ bleeds I ll paint the
servants faces with his blood. We/ must make it seem like they re guilty (2.2.50 55). Ladies and
gentlemen of the court, the evidence clearly indicates Lady Macbeth made Macbeth murder King
Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame as Macbeth. Not
only was she an accomplice to the murder of Duncan but she tampered with the evidence; it is clear
that she should be convicted of at least a

Ivy League College Selection
An analysis of Ivy League college selection processes among students reveals an alarming trend;
students are selecting college environments based solely upon the prestige of the institution without
regard to the application of their studies. For many people, their goal university would be an Ivy
League University. William Deresiewicz, once a Yale professor, wrote a book explaining how Ivy
League Universities are creating an unequal society amongst students. Mr. Deresiewicz was once on
the inside of the Ivy League institutions and now he is showing people what the Ivy League
institutions are really like from the inside establishing ethos through narratives regarding himself,
students, and society. First, Mr. Deresiewicz makes it known that many people do not realize that
going to the most prestigious university is not always the right ... Show more content on

Deresiewicz shows is once the student has chosen the highest level of college to attend then they won
t stray away from their path. I taught many wonderful young people during my years in the Ivy
League bright, thoughtful, creative kids whom it was a pleasure to talk with and learn from. But most
of them seemed content to color within the lines that their education had marked out for them. Very
few were passionate about ideas. Very few saw college as part of a larger project of intellectual
discovery and development. Everyone dressed as if they were ready to be interviewed at a moment s
notice (Deresiewicz 203). Mr. Deresiewicz included this section for parents and students to see how
the students acted at an Ivy League institution, they were only for earning more money or a job and
not seeing that there is much more than jobs and earning more money in college. If he had not
included this part many would not realize that students at the Ivy League institutions act like that since
it s so common nowadays. Mr. Deresiewicz used narratives about students to show what students are
really like at Ivy League

Effects Of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
A study by Possemato, K., Pratt, A., Barrie, K., Ouimette, P (2015) that showed how PTSD affects
returning veterans and the individuals in contact with them by using a method of a longitudinal study
examining daily fluctuations in PTSD and alcohol use among OEF (Operation Enduring
Freedom)/OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) combat veterans recruited from VA primary care Inclusion
criteria consisted of combat during an OEF/OIF deployment, hazardous alcohol use and symptoms of
combat related PTSD, defined as functional impairment associated with at least one Diagnostic and

avoidance or two arousal symptoms measured by a clinical interview The sample (N 137) comprised
both men (88%, n 120) and women (12%, n 17), with a mean age of 30 (SD 7.2). Most self identified
as White (81.8%, n 112) and reported having at least some college education (70%, n 96). About half

Moderates In French Revolution
Moderates Placing the need of stability over revolutionary reform, the moderates fail to solve the very
everyday issues that the oppressed majority revolted for. Although they have the power to kickstart the
revolution, coming from the better status from the old order; moderates eventually disappoint the
crowd because they do not fully implement the changes they have promised. Moderate groups, such as
France s National Assembly, promote equality among the people but forgot to give themselves enough
power to execute reforms because they are equal to everyone else. The very first articles of the
Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen, passed by the National Assembly in August 1789,
proclaims Men are born and remain free and equal in rights

Quiet Majority
The Worries of a Quiet Majority. (Persuasive Essay Final Draft)
As I walk closer to someone I wish to speak to, the feeling of dread increases at the same rate as my
approach. I start planning exactly what I want to say, with the knowledge that my words will not come
out that way at all. Having reached what is considered the appropriate distance for conversing, I
mentally look over my words one more time before sending them along. As my fear mounts I draw a
breath, let it out, and proceed to breathe again. I tell myself to stop stalling and as the words rise up,
they stop at my throat. I silently yell at myself to get on with it as sweat starts to break out. The words
are in my mouth now, but my mouth does not move. I scream, internally, to just say it, say it, SAY IT!
I ask my friend if I can get a ride home with them, they say, sure thing . On the outside, I am calm and
collected; on the inside, my soul collapses into an exhausted puddle. This is not the first time it has
happened, and it won t be the last, for this is part of being Autistic; and I want people to know more
about the problems it causes and how they can help.

that come with Autism, and how to best help those that have it, socially, mentally, and physically. If
everyone could know a little more about what goes on in the heads of those with Autism, and the
struggles that can be found therein, we can help a large part of the population function better in

Taking a Look at Magazine Advertisements
Companies have been using advertisements in magazines as means of marketing for many decades
now. While the purpose for ads, which is to get the consumer to buy their products, is seemingly
obvious. Most of the messages that ads are sending are being received to the viewer s subconscious
mind. As Jean Kilbourne touches upon in her documentary Killing Us Softly 4, ads not only tell us
what we need to buy, they tell us who we are (Killbourne, 2010). The specific ad I will be analyzing is
an ad that was produced by the marketing executives at BMW. The ad can be found in many different
magazines and the targeted audience for this particular ad is obviously to gain the attention of men.
The ad displays a man and women in bed believed (suggested) to be engaging in intercourse with a
picture of a BMW covering the women s face. Through the knowledge that I ve gained from Jean
Kilbourne s documentary, I can point out that three are three strong messages being displayed in this
ad. The ad sends a message that dehumanizes women, uses sex to sale a product, and shows men that
they can objectify women without consequences. In the ad the image of a car is shown in place of the
women s face. This act of dehumanization can affect women in many ways they may or may not even
be aware of. That simple act of turning the woman into a thing could cause the viewers to experience
distorted self thoughts. An ad like this one can affect the women s self esteem, cause them to devalue
themselves, and

Batman Compare And Contrast Essay
Two Sides of The Same Pin In the world of comic books, there are so much stories of comic book
characters. Whether be it from a positive point of view, or a negative point of view. Whether it s
Spider Man teaching us to not give up when going get bad. Or when Batman teaches it is ok to
remember the past, as long you keep moving forward. The comic book genre offers many points of
view, that sometimes they align themselves for the same common cause in different ways. Or
sometimes the contrast each other drastically where, each view is dramatically different from each
other. Alan Moore s Watchmen ideas of super heroes are realistic, and grounded to the brutal reality if
superheroes existed, compared to Batman: The Long Halloween tackles the idea ... Show more content

Just like how in Watchmen in the end, where everyone in the team except Rorschach, decided to go
with Ozymandias plan to unify people. The both saw the use of necessary evil like Batman relying on
his enemies help, Ozymandias plan, and The Avengers team up before they liked each other due to a
difference in views at first. In the graphic novel of Watchmen, it does not have a happy ending
compared to the episode, Cold Hearted, from Young Justice. In the ending of Watchmen, half of New
York died, and everyone moves on from that impact. In the ending in Coldhearted, Wally West saved
the day and put away the evil villain, Count Vertigo. Watchmen plays with the idea of having a
morbidly and morally wrong happy ending, because of the nature of the whole graphic novel. Where
people have to die from an unknown enemy to unite everyone for the better good. A saying goes, the
brighter something is, the darker the shadow is. In Watchman s happy ending, the colors seemed so
bright, like how everything in the world is, bright. But at the expense of other lives, we could not unite
ourselves in such a fashion. The ending speaks to the readers that humanity is cruel, and selfish. The
only time where we start caring for

Evolution Of The Freeway System Essay
The Evolution of the Freeway System in Los Angeles
Society has always been a continuous community of movement; trying to get from one place to
another. Commuting citizens, cargo and information has always been a significant contributor to the
economic and societal life of many municipalities. From the industrial age, society has been
progressively reliant on different transportation systems in order to accomplish trade, distribution of
supplies, tourism and so on. As the suburban sprawl continues to expand, technology advances. The
resources needed to attain successful transportation has evolved over many historical revolutions to
accommodate a growing population and the immense density of a growing city. Developments in
mechanics has permitted people to move faster with greater amount of supplies and travel longer
distances, but not without challenges. Urban planners have an outlying role in freeway development
that explains the challenges needed to be overcome to excel in successful transportation services.
Urban planners have the duty to conduct political negotiations between different levels of the
government to excel and expand our urban society. Information needed to fully understand the
evolution will demonstrate the importance and impact freeway systems have on urban and suburban
lifestyles.
The decision to start implementing a system that allows automobiles to quickly get through regulated
traffic by using different roads that are composed together, will result in

Panic Of 1893 Research Paper Panic Brian Populists The significance of this triad is that they all relate to the unlimited coinage of silver in order to balance the economy during The Depression of 1893, which was overall unsuccessful because William McKinley (pro gold) won the election in 1896 and President Grover Cleveland made gold the main money supply of the nation. The panic of 1893 was the worst depression up to that point in the U.S. Thousands of workers lost their jobs, the economy was falling, and European investors were claiming funds. President Grover Cleveland made things worse when he made gold the nation s money supply and repealed the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890. • 3. Education Of Cyrus Essay The Education of Cyrus is Xenophon s account of the development and ascendency of Cyrus, a young boy who soon become King of Persia, and also a depiction of Persia and her people. Aristotle s Politics, on the other hand, is a philosophical work, aimed at dissecting the political life and determining how human beings should organize themselves politically. Yet, at their core, both books are respectfully critical of the political life. The following will assess two apparent paradoxes that appear to plague the political life: 1) with respect to Cyrus, the balancing of the noble and the good and 2) with respect to Aristotle, the struggle between broad political participation and a virtuous government. At the heart of the Education of Cyrus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The example on page 91 of the Politics can be applied to Persia. Cyrus, the most virtuous of all, ruled Persia, which is something Aristotle would support: the most virtuous and best should rule. Yet, Cyrus empire soon becomes a oligarchy as his sons take rule and solely value the goods, not the noble. This fall from nobility and their dissension eventually led to cities and nations immediately [revolting] and everything [taking] a turn for the worse (Xenophon 273). While the application of Aristotle s scenario on page 91 does not perfectly fit this account, the revolting of the cities and nations can be viewed as similar to the uprising of the multitude over the oligarchs. What is clear, however, is that the abandonment of real, honest and true virtue in both cases leads to the ignoble and avaricious ruling class falling at the hands of the discontent and downtrodden many. What one can take away from both the implicit and explicit criticisms given by Xenophon and Aristotle is that political life is incredibly messy and problematic and, moreover, the best regime, the telos of political life, may not be unattainable. Both works indicate that virtue must be a main component of the regime, yet it appears human beings have difficulty remaining virtuous in the face of 1) material wealth and 2) the allure of ... • 4. Taking a Look at Slime Mold INTRODUCTION: What is a Dictyostelium discoideum? D. discoideum commonly referred to, as slime mold is a species of amoebas that are soil living; they belong to the phylum Mycetozoa. D. discoideum is a eukaryote that transitions from a collection of unicellular amoebae into a multicellular slug and then into a fruiting body within its one lifetime. The unicellular phase consists of solitary amoeba feeding on bacteria and reproducing by binary fission. When faced with starvation, the amoeba collects into aggregates and develops into multicellular fruiting bodies. This particular multicellular organism is only multicellular under the certain environmental conditions that demand of it. THE LIFE CYCLE: The life cycle of D. discoideum it is most easily defined as the starting with the spore stage. Spores are very small, pod shaped, and capable of sprouting a unicellular amoeba when plated on moist agar. After it has hatched, the amoeba enters a vegetative state during which the amoebae then feeds by consuming bacteria, and they constantly divide to generate independent daughter cells. Once the amoeba has reached a certain number it is more dependent on their source of food, they begin to aggregate and stream toward the next portion called the main collection point. This is now making its way to the collection point where they form cell streams, which then collect into larger rivers. Streaming is the product of chemotaxis and in response to the waves of cAMP it began ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Government Of The United States The government of the United States is divided into three parts the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. The vast amount of control within this government is split between the aforementioned three branches; and is also known as power. The definition of power as given by the Merriam Webster dictionary is [the] ability to act or produce an effect , which in the instance of power within the government would imply the ability to produce an effect on the economy or wellbeing of the United States of America. The question is though, is this division of power equal? The Executive branch employs more than four million people, the most famous being the President and the Cabinet. Their powers and responsibilities include conducting diplomacy with other countries, the executive order, nominating Supreme Court justices, and the enforcement of federal laws. Most of the power that the Executive branch exerts comes from the executive order, an order given by the President in times of national crisis that overrides almost everything; which can either be taken back by the President himself or be declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, who is indirectly controlled by the Executive branch. When one of the justices on the Supreme Court dies or is impeached by the Legislative branch, the President is required to nominate a new justice; who must then be approved by Congress to advance to the Supreme Court. I have never taken a photography class, or researched too in depth about specific pictures or photographers. I have have chosen two highly influential photographers, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, who I have found to both resonate with me and perfectly capture human emotions in way that moves others. Diane Arbus was a photographer in the 1950 s and 60 s. Starting out as a fashion photographer, Arbus quickly moved on to photographing more impactful pictures, usually of societal outsiders ( The Cost of Diane, 2016). With striking images of freaks, as she once named her subject, Arbus perfectly depicted feelings of loneliness and struggles with identity. I believe Arbus resonates with me so much because of her uncanny ability to showcase such complex and intense human emotions through photography repeatedly. One of the major fears of users under the filter is that when they call their Internet service provider to be taken off the filter, they will be put on a list and their names and browsing habits will be recorded. What one person can inquest safely might kill another person? So how do we determine what is toxic, and how certain chemicals effect humans and animals? The answer is, we must perform test on something that is similar to the human species. Animals having similar traits and features in the body have often been the experimentation method of choice. By using animals in testing has raised a lot of concern and controversy over the years, but so has testing on human beings. One of the most horrifying examples of human testing was during World War II, the Nazi party in its quest to create the ultimate human species, performed a lot of testing on the Jews that were in the concentration camps with horrific results. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD for short, is very real. It does not solely affect soldiers either. For example, my father, a retired firefighter, relives moments from when he worked at certain times when images are triggered. • 17. The Importance Of Disengaged Students In Education Teachers have been struggling with disengaged students for decades. In order to make any positive strides in American education, educators need to focus on the one factor that can illuminate the reasons for disengagement, the student. For the purposes of this paper, disengaged students are the ones who do not exhibit active learning skills during a class period in school. These learners may over socialize with peers, use digital devices throughout class, cut classes, leave class frequently, sleep, or fail to submit in class and out of class assignments. In 2001, President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act, instilling hope that the federal government could better hold K 12 schools accountable for all students to have proficient academic outcomes (Klein, 2017). President Obama made changes to the No Child Left Behind Act when 42 states needed waivers due to not reaching the proficiency expectation. In 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act was enacted. This Act provides states with more flexibility in order to help students meet proficiency. The Act also provides resources to secondary institutions that struggle to meet graduation requirements ( ESSA Overview, 2017). In an effort to align education across America, states could opt into utilizing the Common Core State Standards beginning in 2009. Ivy League College Selection An analysis of Ivy League college selection processes among students reveals an alarming trend; students are selecting college environments based solely upon the prestige of the institution without regard to the application of their studies. For many people, their goal university would be an Ivy League University. William Deresiewicz, once a Yale professor, wrote a book explaining how Ivy League Universities are creating an unequal society amongst students. Mr. Deresiewicz was once on the inside of the Ivy League institutions and now he is showing people what the Ivy League institutions are really like from the inside establishing ethos through narratives regarding himself, students, and society. Deresiewicz shows is once the student has chosen the highest level of college to attend then they won t stray away from their path. I taught many wonderful young people during my years in the Ivy League bright, thoughtful, creative kids whom it was a pleasure to talk with and learn from. But most of them seemed content to color within the lines that their education had marked out for them. Very few were passionate about ideas. Very few saw college as part of a larger project of intellectual discovery and development. Everyone dressed as if they were ready to be interviewed at a moment s notice (Deresiewicz 203). Mr. Deresiewicz included this section for parents and students to see how the students acted at an Ivy League institution, they were only for earning more money or a job and not seeing that there is much more than jobs and earning more money in college. If he had not included this part many would not realize that students at the Ivy League institutions act like that since it s so common nowadays. Moderates In French Revolution Moderates Placing the need of stability over revolutionary reform, the moderates fail to solve the very everyday issues that the oppressed majority revolted for. Although they have the power to kickstart the revolution, coming from the better status from the old order; moderates eventually disappoint the crowd because they do not fully implement the changes they have promised. Moderate groups, such as France s National Assembly, promote equality among the people but forgot to give themselves enough power to execute reforms because they are equal to everyone else. • 30. Quiet Majority The Worries of a Quiet Majority. (Persuasive Essay Final Draft) As I walk closer to someone I wish to speak to, the feeling of dread increases at the same rate as my approach. I start planning exactly what I want to say, with the knowledge that my words will not come out that way at all. Having reached what is considered the appropriate distance for conversing, I mentally look over my words one more time before sending them along. As my fear mounts I draw a breath, let it out, and proceed to breathe again. I tell myself to stop stalling and as the words rise up, they stop at my throat. I silently yell at myself to get on with it as sweat starts to break out. The words are in my mouth now, but my mouth does not move. I scream, internally, to just say it, say it, SAY IT! I ask my friend if I can get a ride home with them, they say, sure thing . On the outside, I am calm and collected; on the inside, my soul collapses into an exhausted puddle. • 31. Taking a Look at Magazine Advertisements Companies have been using advertisements in magazines as means of marketing for many decades now. While the purpose for ads, which is to get the consumer to buy their products, is seemingly obvious. Most of the messages that ads are sending are being received to the viewer s subconscious mind. As Jean Kilbourne touches upon in her documentary Killing Us Softly 4, ads not only tell us what we need to buy, they tell us who we are (Killbourne, 2010). The specific ad I will be analyzing is an ad that was produced by the marketing executives at BMW. The ad can be found in many different magazines and the targeted audience for this particular ad is obviously to gain the attention of men. The ad displays a man and women in bed believed (suggested) to be engaging in intercourse with a picture of a BMW covering the women s face. Through the knowledge that I ve gained from Jean Kilbourne s documentary, I can point out that three are three strong messages being displayed in this ad. The ad sends a message that dehumanizes women, uses sex to sale a product, and shows men that they can objectify women without consequences. In the ad the image of a car is shown in place of the women s face. This act of dehumanization can affect women in many ways they may or may not even be aware of. That simple act of turning the woman into a thing could cause the viewers to experience distorted self thoughts. An ad like this one can affect the women s self esteem, cause them to devalue themselves, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The both saw the use of necessary evil like Batman relying on his enemies help, Ozymandias plan, and The Avengers team up before they liked each other due to a difference in views at first. In the graphic novel of Watchmen, it does not have a happy ending compared to the episode, Cold Hearted, from Young Justice. In the ending of Watchmen, half of New York died, and everyone moves on from that impact. In the ending in Coldhearted, Wally West saved the day and put away the evil villain, Count Vertigo. Watchmen plays with the idea of having a morbidly and morally wrong happy ending, because of the nature of the whole graphic novel.
