We are experiencing a fundamental
transformation of collaboration
The traditional intranet is dead.
Hello?
Is anyone
else here?
Why is the traditional intranet dead?
 Static content
 Lack of functionality
 Poor communication tools and processes
 Failure to adequately capture knowledge
 Insufficient search and discovery
 Inability to identify experts
Your intelligent workplace
Teams are scrambling to find the right tools
and technologies to fit their cultural needs
And end users have more control than ever
before in what is being selected
In short, intranets fail to provide
enterprise-grade collaboration,
communication, knowledge management,
and processes (automation and intelligence)
The ingredients of an intelligent workplace
Communication Collaboration
Knowledge Processes
In November 2013, Benedict Evans published a slide deck titled
"Mobile is eating the world", that went viral almost immediately.
His primary point was that the consumer market is rapidly
evolving, and how the scale of mobile is altering the way people
manage their daily lives.

Editor's Notes

  • #11 The collection perse doesn’t work tools need to be connected and in an intelligent way
  • #17 They may do less, but they can provide a better experience around a subset of the features, making them more effective and engaging.
  • #18 In the corporate world, we are increasingly seeing mobile apps bringing data from multiple source systems, such as SAP, allowing the user to perform some actions on the data provided to their mobile device, and then syncing their changes back to both SAP and SharePoint, for example. Think of the possibilities of Microsoft’s GigJam, as another example.
  • #19 Remember telling people “Hey, I’ll have to check my calendar when I get back to the office”? Those days are long gone. Mobile allows us to work anywhere, anytime.
  • #20 A great example of this is the growth in Facebook usage via mobile devices. In April 2014, Facebook announced that they had surpassed the 1 billion mark for monthly active users on phones and tablets.
