Human computer interaction chapter 2 interaction Styles.pptxSHEHERYARali12
When considering the interaction styles of computers, it's important to analyze their efficiency, ease of use, and responsiveness. Among various styles like GUI (Graphical User Interface) and CLI (Command Line Interface), GUI stands out as one of the most efficient and user-friendly options. Its advantage lies in its visual representation, allowing users to interact with the system through intuitive icons, menus, and windows. GUIs offer a more natural and accessible way for users to navigate and interact with applications, reducing the learning curve and enhancing productivity. Additionally, GUIs provide immediate feedback, enhancing responsiveness and user satisfaction. Overall, GUIs strike a balance between efficiency, ease of use, and responsiveness, making them a preferred interaction style for most users.

13 Things To Keep In Mind For Enhanced Mobile App UI/UX Design BugRaptors
85% of adults think that a mobile site should be better than the desktop version, while Marketing Charts found that 46.7% of consumers will tell others about a bad experience.
Even though most mobile app development companies, developers, and even mobile app testing services know the aforementioned points of UI significance, they often end up missing very minute details that can affect product performance in the market.
Development must be followed by testing ( mobile as well as usability); learn more about tools and technologies to implement to deliver seamless mobile application functionality here https://www.bugraptors.com/usability-testing-services.php

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

7. Designing for Mobiles Nothing is more fun than seeing your Web page (or application) nestled nicely into a teeny tiny handheld screen; and nothing is more excruciatingly horrendous than trying to figure out how to get it there. Heidi Pollok (WebMonkey)
8.
9.
10. Page design Headers – The terminology & the spelling on the header should be the exact same as on the link which led to the page. Sub-headers – If subheaders are used they need to be differentiated from content and menu items. Separation – If a page contains of a number of rows with just plain text and they are followed by a hyper link, separate the static field from the interactive area with a single dashed line. Fonts – For pages to be scan able, fonts should be clear. Avoid over decoration of fonts – only using decoration when attention is needed. Scrolling – Scroll only when necessary, as the user might not scroll if not prompted and might miss information at the bottom of the page. Clutter – Always try to keep the elements on a page as minimum as possible. The information available should not be too much for the user to process. Using a phone to surf the Internet means taking a huge leap away from the fixation with looks.
11.
12. Use of the keypad Less is more – Users should not be forced to enter information in more than one field. Fields that can be should be drop downs or selection lists. To clear or not to clear – do not let the user clear the input fields herself if performing a new function i.e. new search. The system should clear the fields. And if the screen is a modification of the previous screen i.e. in case of errors – the system should remember the text put in by the user in the next screen also. Signing in – A user should be automatically signed in when possible. URLs – Should be fairly short. Search criteria – While entering search criteria, the system should support common abbreviations as far as possible. Numeric keys – The natural way of interaction with a phone is numeric so fields should be numeric if they can and use of the keypad when navigating through a particularly long page should be supported. Text input is difficult on a mobile phone considering the user relies on a set of numeric keys when writing.
