Employment Relationship Within The Usa
The USA is one of the only some countries where employment is principally at will. All states apart
from Montana assume such relationship of employment in the U.S (2005, Ewing, North, Taylor). The
majority countries of the world let employers to release employee simply for cause. A number of the
reasons specified for the retention of the at will assumption comprise employer deference, respect for
autonomy of contract, and the faith that equally employers and employees support an at will
employment relationship above security of job. At will denotes that an employer can fire an employee
at whatever time for any cause apart from some biased reasons, or for no reason devoid of sustaining
legal accountability. Likewise, an employee has right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agreements of Collective bargaining typically offer that represented employees might merely be
terminated for a cause. Cause usually comprises reasons for instance poor employee misconduct,
employee performance, or economic necessity. A contract of employment might exclusively delineate
the situations or employee actions that would direct to termination for cause.
Courts above the years, have carved out exemptions to the Employment at will (EAW) assumption to
lessen its sometimes inconsiderate outcomes (Karen, 2005). The 3 foremost exceptions of common
law are implied contract, public policy, and implied convention of good faith. The presumption of at
will is strong, on the other hand, and it can be hard for an employee to establish that his circumstances
fall in one of the exemptions. Additionally, not all of the exceptions are distinguished by all
jurisdictions.
Employees Scenarios
Now let s appraise the acts of employees :
Joe threatening to sue the company for privacy invasion subsequent to being disciplined for criticizing

In this situation I would utilize the utilitarian theory. Initially, Joe has no grounds to take legal action
for incursion of privacy, owing to signing the Employee Electronic Device Policy. I might not fire him
owing to the retaliation exception to the doctrine of at will. Laws of Federal and/or state forbid

Chad
Chad is the biggest of Africa s 16 landlocked nations measuring 495,755 square miles slightly larger
than three times the size of California. Chad is located deep in the heart of Africa and is surrounded by
6 countries. Officially known as the Republic of Chad, the country is also called the Dead Heart of
Africa due to its closeness to the deserts (WorldMaps.com). According to the CIA World Fact Book,
the GDP of Chad is was estimated to be $29.53B USD in 2014, the population is estimated to be
11,631,456 in 2015 and 40.2% are considered to be literate. Over 65% of the population is under the

For most of the people, conditions are difficult and desperate. Chronic food shortages are widespread,
and starvation levels among young children are high (Ruralpoverty.org). Chad fairs poorly with regard
to the four generic factors of production. As much of Chad is positioned within the hot and dry Sahara
Desert made up of barren land, most of the country is a limiting resource. Natural resources are
limited and or under developed. As there is very little manufacturing, there is little improvement in
improving production processes for turning natural resources into consumer goods. The labor pool is
small, young and uneducated. 80% of the workforce is employed in labor intensive farming. Just 20%
of the workforce is employed in the higher skilled areas of manufacturing and providing technical
services (CIA.gov). Much of Chad s workforce is one dimensional and not able to be flexible enough
to move to other areas as training is limited and the education system is almost non existent.
Regarding capital, like other countries in poverty lacking in natural resources, Chad must import
goods and is reliant on on foreign aid. Investors are frightened by the challenging business climate in
Chad. In 2012, Chad was ranked last in the world in ease of doing business by the World Bank.
Entrepreneurship is present in Chad, however, most are black market businesses that feed on
governmental bureaucracy and corruption. Very few entrepreneurs

The Role Of Urbanization In A Northern Suburb
The poem A Northern Suburb portrays urbanization as the main proponent of the distress that the
lower class are facing. One method Davidson uses to communicate this message is by surrounding
urbanization with feeding imagery. It is urbanization s whetted fangs (5) that devour (6) the rural
suburb, which portrays its change on society as consuming. The lower class is being viewed as food,
which further strengthens this idea of hunger. The poor now live in small houses that are described as
Ovens (16), Ice chests (15) and cupboards (14). These descriptions lead to an idea of the community
as food living in various parts of a kitchen and with urbanization as the head chef. This consumption
imagery leads to a view of the lower class

Communicating Through Numbers in Toni Morrison s Beloved...
Communicating Through Numbers in Beloved
Humanity uses numbers as a way to communicate beyond words, evoking ideas more readily than
words alone are able to. All religions and cultures have significant numbers that communicate an
essence or idea more quickly and completely than words can. It is in this manner that Toni Morrison
uses numbers in Beloved. Significant numbers occur starting with the first symbols of the text and the
words on the pages before the body of the text starts.
124. The first thing to appear, and we already have a significant number. Sethe has four children. The
third one is dead. Numbers 1, 2, and 4 remain. Another number that stands alone in its significance is
twenty eight. Twenty eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than tell Sethe with words that trying to kill her children was inhuman, Paul D uses numbers:
You got two feet, Sethe, not four (165). There are thirty women that arrive to remove Beloved. Thirty
is a symbol of justice and order, according to Marianne Schimmel. When schoolteacher arrives with
his party, they are described as the four horsemen (148). In fact, the only time a number occurs by
itself as a sentence is to describe them: All the while it was coming down the road. Four. Riding close
together, bunched up like, and righteous (157). Each of these is a powerful symbol, though none of
these numbers recur in the text, at least not with these meanings.
Two is duality, a pair, a division. It is also a unity, two halves of the same whole. Sex is expressed in
many cultures as a duality, the yin and yang, father sky and mother earth. In Beloved, twos, fours, and
even twenties occur in situations related to sex and children. Baby Suggs has eight children (209), four
girls, four boys. Sethe has four. Two boys, two girls. 124 has two stories, and Sethe and Paul D have
sex on the second floor. At Mrs. Garner s wedding, they ate four sheep (59). From the two buckets of
blackberries he picked, Stamp Paid put two into the mouth of four week old Denver (170). At Baby
Suggs revival, after talking about your life holding womb and your life giving private parts, the crowd
sings in four part harmony (89). Such a performance

Racism At The University Of Mississippi
Imagine being a student of low economic status that has always dreamed of going to a world
renowned university but the stench of racism still looms at the well known college. The racism
displayed at this university is undeniable and very visible which in result scares away many diverse
students. Colleges claim to be diverse but with the lack of minorities due to the recognizable racism
issues and problems this proposes an important matter. Racism at The University of Mississippi can be
solved by raising awareness of racial problems and also the increase of mandatory diversity classes.
The University of Mississippi has its share of racial issues, which result in bad media coverage and
lessening the number of diverse students even more. The University of Mississippi has recently had an
incident involving race which ended with a protest and the voluntary withdrawal of a student. The use
of the peaceful protest made the University become aware of the severity of the racial comment. The
use of protests are to demand that colleges be aware and to demand punishment for the racial crime
committed. Peaceful Protest usage seem to result in positive outcomes such as within the situation at
the University of Missouri. This situation involved racial inequality and the lack of action from
university authorities (Rhoden). The unfair treatment of a minority and lack of punishment for the
racial matter caused the students to begin protesting. Regular students began protesting but with

Essay about Love and Person
Love has a definition a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person but yet has so many
different meanings. Thesauruscoping demonstrates the different meanings in which the word Love can
deliver. The synonym of Love, Adoration, does not necessarily mean that these words have the same
meaning. The definition of Adoration is the act of paying honor, as to a divine being or to worship.
These words can be isolated from each other by meaning because they are two different descriptions.
Love is an emotion and Adoration is a way of acting towards another. For example, there may be
someone who loves to go to church every Sunday, being a part of their daily routine, but has adoration

This kind of Love that is being expressed is illustrating the emotional kind of love towards another
person rather than an object. Loving an object rather than a person is different because an object doesn
t reveal emotion and personality, nothing but the physical features. Emotion and personality are the
major components of why a person loves another, but physical attraction is also a reason but very
minor. By analyzing the different ways in which Love can be used, the distinctive meanings of this
word is additionally known.
Personification is the method in which a certain emotion is given a human like quality. There are
endless numbers of ways in which Love can be personified. Love is used and/or seen in a person s
every day life. Love is a person that is seen to be always happy go lucky, full of life, and caring about
other people rather than himself. Love texts his girlfriend saying goodnight before he sleeps and good
morning as soon as he wakes. He comes to her home, knocks on the door, and brings flowers and soup
when his girlfriend is sick. Love is not able to sleep at night, knowing that his loved one is out with
her friends; because he is afraid something will happen to her and would die if he lost her, emotionally
or physically. He calls her back after she hangs up on him because of a silly argument that was

High Stakes Projects Need All Start Teams
Virtuoso Teams High stakes projects need all start teams. But all starts often play by their own rules
and fight like cats and dogs. Fisher and Boynton. In all the humans goal, you can find those group

from the other teams. They have characteristics that pursue the admiration from the companies.
Virtuoso teams aren t similar because they play by a set of rules completely different like the regular
groups. They use a criteria according each member skills. Well as the rest of the teams would you
think, and that is not the same way that they look. For example, traditional team s members are
typically selected randomly. In Virtuoso teams members are handpicked selected those who play a
specific role with high quality performance. Even though their potential, companies avoid these teams.
Due to the fact that their risks are high. It is complicate to keep a virtuoso team work together for they
are looking for new challenges, so if they achieve one, they start to look for another one. Also, leader
of virtuoso teams are more than compromise with their teams. They spent a ton of time and abilities in
their time as leaders. When earning start comes, virtuoso teams are the principal to get those starts.
The reason of this is the ability to find the goal, analyze their plan and built strategies. Some of their

Competitiveness In America
Over the period of study, the relative strength in the Peripheral South diminished as the Republican
Party became more competitive in the Deep South. Over time, one should see both the national and
state indexes increase with the state party index lagging behind the national party index. While this is
far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in Republican
Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the competitiveness of elections
to lower level political offices. A major reason that the state score index lags behind the national index
is that the state index includes state legislative offices (and not votes as we have for the other offices
included in the MPI) which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

previous research, that increases in voter turnout in the South was not confined to African Americans.
Several scholars saw an increase in white voter turnout from the early 1950s to the 1970s of about 70
percent. Voting was no longer for the populations better people, but instead became more universal.
Looking at figures 3.3 and 3.4, it is evident that there is an upward trend in the data, but that the
increase is much larger in the Deep South than in the Peripheral South. The midterm effects is present

The Monk by Matthew G. Lewis Essay
The Female and Male Gothic in Austen s Northanger Abbey and Lewis The Monk
The gothic novel is characterized by mystery and supernatural fear, usually involving evil villains, and
victimized protagonists. These elements are recognized in both Austen s novel, Northanger Abbey, and
Lewis The Monk. The novels are composed of male and female gothic characteristics, involved in
gendered portrayals of supernatural events. The gothic genre is used in these novels in unique ways,
however they both portray gendered depictions of the gothic genre. Austen and Lewis use their
characters to frame the text, and abide by conventions of the male and female gothic genres. Through
the use of these gendered gothic qualities, they expose how characters, ... Show more content on

Catherine responds, I should be too much frightened to do such a thing (Austen 178). Catherine
identifies with the female gothic here, as she is terrorized by the idea of such events, even though they
are simply made up by the villainous General.
Coinciding with the theme of the damsel in distress is the oppressed female and powerful male in
accordance with the female gothic. When Henry Tilney addresses Catherine, ensuring that there is no
hope of a relationship, she returns to her room. Austen describes Catherine as, most bitterly did she
cry...she hated herself more than she could express (Austen 224). This intense emotional distress is a
characteristic of the female gothic in which sensibility overpowers rationality. Mr. Tilney holds power
over Catherina, as he is her love interest, and destroys any hope of a life together. Catherine s
obsession with Henry s denial is attributed as she, wondered over the repetition of a disappointment
for nine successive mornings (Austen 227). This focus on love rather than reality is a characteristic of
the female gothic, where the powerless heroine is controlled by sentiments and passion rather than
logical dilemmas.
Another element of the female gothic is the explained supernatural, in which ordinary events are
explained by supernatural occurrences, combined with secret passageways within the castle. This is
made evident by Austen in a humorous way, as Catherine walks

Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?

Abstract
The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl
and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002)
Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students.
Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between
primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with
cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship.
Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?
Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy
and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl,
Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability to
understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as an
individual who shows traits of

Harry In Micheal Crichton s Sphere
In the novel quot;Sphere by Micheal Crichton, it entails of a psychatrist sent to the underwater site of
a quot;plane crash quot; where they later find the craft is from the future or a alien power. Once they
later inspect the ship more they see that it contains a sphere like object that has the power to manifest
the thoughts (or in the crew apos;s case nightmares) of whoever interacted and went inside of it.
Although this novel is, of course, a science fiction, it does possess some biological facts. Small details
such as the stings of jellyfish venomous stings killing their crew member, a cold water rush having the
ability to kill Norman, a series of glasses breaking around Norman once the oxygen was removed
from the room, not being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though these are just details these are some things that i noticed that were left in the novel and not
brought into the movie. In the novel the ship was attacked multiple times by a squid were in the movie
they only showed one attack. They also removed some fun from the novel too because the reader was
allowed to figure the code out but in the movie Harry solved the code all by himself. Even the
characters main story points were changed like how Beth was left conscious and only anxious when
she set the bomb but in the novel she was unconcious not allowing them to change the time setting.
But even though they had many differences they kept some parts similar like they both included the
code, destruction of habitats, and forgetting completely about the bomb.
This novel gave inspiration for some technology that can be made in the future such a deep
submarines which were fiction around the time the novel was written but later were adopted for
normal use. This novel presents inventions that i believe will be normalized in thr future such as

Negative And Negative Effects Of Marijuana
Negatives of Marijuana Marijuana is a dangerous drug and should not be legalized. Marijuana can
damage lungs, it can affect cardiovascular shape and it puts you at higher risk for heart attack or
stroke, raises blood pressure and many other harmful effects. You can also end up getting addicted to
marijuana (Watson4). It s a very dangerous drug especially if driving. There are many DUI s and
deadly accidents that are marijuana related each year (gray1). That s why marijuana is illegal in almost
every state. Nevertheless, the number of teenagers partaking in marijuana does appear to be on the
rise, at least partially due to a reduced perception of risk among teens who have been following the
various legal debates around the country around legalization of medicinal and recreational marijuana.

fair poll is a question without any hint of personal opinions or judgements. A poll must also be
unbiased, meaning not supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of
personal opinions to influence your judgements. There are several different types of bias however the
main ones are; analytical bias, cognitive bias, confounding bias, consistency bias, experimenter bias,
omitted variable bias, recency bias, reporting bias, selection bias and systematic bias. Firstly analytical

Confounding bias occurs when two factors are associated and the effect of one is confused with or
distorted by the effect of the other. Consistency bias refers to the relation of terms to one another; it is
the tendency to keep one response consistent with prior response. Next consistency bias is similar to
social desirability bias, except that the latter term refers to a tendency to answer a given item in a
social acceptable. Experimenter bias is when the measurements obtained in a study are influenced by
the experimenter s expectations regarding the outcome of the study. A researcher knows the predicted
outcome of a research study and is in a position to influence the results, either intentionally or
unintentionally. Omitted variable bias is the bias that appears in estimates of parameters in a
regression analysis when the assumed specification omits an independent variable that should be in
the model. Recency Bias is a cognitive predisposition that causes people to more prominently recall
and emphasize recent events and observations than those that occurred in the near or distant

The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Privacy
There are many laws that outline workplace privacy. Although, legal protections for employee privacy
rights are established in the constitution, common laws, and statutes, it is complex to prove in the
courts (Walsh, 2013). Typically, most employees have a reasonable expectation of privacy at the
workplace. Consequently, an employee s interpretation of what is reasonable, and not reasonable, may
not be defined the same by one s employer (Barendt, 2016). The principle concept most employees
have, in respect to reasonable expectancy of privacy, is also applicable to invasion of privacy claims
(Barendt, 2016). According to the text, if an employee cannot be said to have had a reasonable
expectation of privacy under the circumstances , then they will not be successful with a privacy claim
(Walsh, 2013, p. 582). Nevertheless, most employers notify and/or have policies in place, which
identify that employees are subject to monitoring, searches, and other possible invasive actions
(Walsh, 2013). Thus, in this case, an employee would not be deemed to have reasonable expectations
of privacy. Needless to say, if an employer does not have existing policies in place to establish an
expectation of privacy, a privacy claim would be warranted (Walsh, 2013). Furthermore, the United
States continues to adapt laws to protect privacy rights (King, 2016). Silicon Valley is generating new

Key Performance Indicators Analysis
Key Performance Indicators
The validity and effectiveness of the patient advocacy program can be measured using key
performance indicators or KPIs. KPIs are defined as a set of quantifiable measures that a company or
industry uses to gauge or compare performance in terms of meeting their strategic and operational
goals (Investopedia, 2015). The KPIs chosen for JPS should reflect its goals. As shown in the
Fishbone diagram, healthcare providers are tasked with multiple moving parts such as patient care,
facility management (environment) and emergency room conditions. Therefore, the three KPIs that
will support this process change and continuously measured to success are time to healthcare, lab
turnaround time, and ER waiting times.
KPI#1 The Time to Healthcare Service KPI will help JPS measures its ability to provide incoming
patients with healthcare service in a appropriate manner. This is a vital indicator as it measures
multiple services that patients will receive after check in such as the time it takes to see a nurse or how
long it takes to get discharged. Awareness of wait trends can provide additional data which will
support onboarding the patient advocacy program. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

time for JPS is 52 minutes in comparison to 25 minutes at Texas Health Harris Methodist, which is

patients are currently waiting before being seen by an attending physician. This metric will be a clear
indication of JPS performance and its ability to provide quality patient care. To be effective, JPS can
use different iterations of this indicator: one can monitor the current status of JPS emergency room in
real time and the second can monitor the wait times over different periods i.e. weeks or

implications will be discussed and finally a reflective conclusion will be drawn. Where appropriate the
paper will be written in the first person (Webb 1992).
Nurse prescribing was first recommended, by the RCN, in 1980 and became part of the government s
policy agenda in 1986 with the Cumberlege Report (DH 1986). Further, the Crown Report (DH 1989)
advocated prescribing by trained community nurses from a limited formulary. Legislation was
introduced in 1992 The Medicinal Products: Prescription By Nurses Act, 1992 followed by secondary

Jane presented with a wound to her lower left leg which, following a holistic assessment (appendix 2),
was diagnosed as a venous leg ulcer. The assessment was conducted in accordance with Local PCT
Leg Ulcer Guidelines (appendix 3) as well as RCN Guidelines (RCN 2006) to rule out other possible
aetiology such as arterial ulceration, diabetes or malignancy (Moloney and Grace 2004). Although
traditionally considered uncommon, recent studies suggest that malignant ulcers are more prevalent
than previously thought (Miller et al 2003, Taylor 1998) therefore even though initial assessment
suggests an uncomplicated venous ulcer, if Jane s wound fails to heal following appropriate treatment
then specialist advice will be sought. Between 17% and 65% of people with a leg ulcer experience
severe or continuous pain with a major impact on quality of life (Briggs and Nelson, 2003) and
effective pain relief is important to maximise quality of life, to enable mobilisation and improve
appetite to facilitate wound healing. Fortunately, Jane experienced no pain from the leg ulcer prior to
or at the time of assessment. However, careful review and monitoring of any pain will be important
throughout the treatment process as the first line of treatment for uncomplicated venous leg ulcers are
compression systems (RCN 2006) and although compression counteracts the harmful effects of
venous hypertension and

Treatment Of Recurrent Erythema Multiforme
Apremilast for Treatment of Recurrent Erythema Multiforme
Introduction
Recurrent erythema multiforme (EM) is an uncommon skin condition with unclear etiology
considered to be a hypersensitivity reaction presenting commonly in young adults with distinctive
targetoid skin lesions with or without mucosal lesions. These cases are typically treated with antiviral
therapies or immunosuppressive agents in more extreme cases. We present a case of recurrent EM in a
young adult that resolved completely after treatment with Otezla (apremilast), an oral medication
originally developed for the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
Case report
A 21 year old African American female with a history of recurrent skin lesions on lips, tongue and soft
palate for over ten years. She was initially diagnosed at age 6 with Behcet s syndrome due to presence
of recurrent oral and genital ulcers as well as joint pain and swelling. She stated that she has about six
episodes per year with recurrence after treatment. For acute episodes, she was given treatment with
prednisone for management of oral and genital lesions, which has been used intermittently. She was
additionally treated with colchicine, dapsone and hydroxychloroquine with no response. It is unclear
when these treatments were administered or for what duration the patient adhered to these regimens.
Lesions resolved completely with no new lesions after one month of therapy on Otezla. There has not
been a recurrence for 4 months.

Swing Voters Research Paper
Have you ever had noticed how easily it is for someone to influence and change your decision when
you re on the fence about an issue? Due to their inexperience in the electorate teens may also be easily
swayed and have their opinions changed. This would just enlarge the number of swing voters. A swing
voter is a voter who has no allegiance to any political party and whose unpredictable decisions can
swing the outcome of an election one way or the other. There s a vicious fight for these precious
voters, as they re the ones who can change the direction of an election. Swing voters can be especially
vulnerable during the weeks leading up to an election when voters who have not yet pledged

Louis Zamperini Unbroken
A modern Christian s life, calling and service draws on the examples of Jesus Christ and biblical
personalities. Although over 2,000 years has elapsed since Christ s response to gods call, there are
many who have continued to respond to god s call on their lives to serve him and others. Louis
Zamperini from the biography Unbroken written by Laura Illenbrad is a specific example of the
modern man who has responded to gods call through key events that has changed his view towards
god. Similarly, Abraham from the bible was also called to do gods work but in a different set of
circumstances. Louis Zamperini was born into a vastly different family environment to Abraham.
Louis Zamperini was born to Italian immigrant parents in America. Louis family were middle class
however money did not come easy to them. Abrahams family is not mentioned in the bible however
he is a man that is well off will plenty of life stock and servants. Louis grew up with god as he grew

Racist Mascots Research Paper
Native Americans are often offended by racist nicknames, logos, and stereotypes in sports. The
Washington Redskins and many other teams are facing this. this makes teams look ignorant. Mascots
imply that all Natives have to be a dark brown color, have big noses, and long wavy black hair.
Examples of these stereotypical mascots are the Washington Redskins, FSU, Cherokee Braves, and
any other school with a racist mascot. Native Americans find that when we use their people as mascots
we are making them look like savages. Native Americans are offended by racist nicknames, logos, and
stereotypes in sports. Using Native American images and names in professional, collegiate, and high
school sports teams does reinforce and perpetuate stereotypes.

Online Gambling And Online Casino
Blog 4 What can players expect more of when it comes to online casino gaming in 2016?
Considering it s January, it is no shock to see that online casino industry analysts are clambering over
themselves to issue predictions for the upcoming 12 months. While some of the predictions are
obvious, it seems that some online casino operators are focussing more on what players want.
Speaking on the matter, we have headed to both the polls and the online casino portals to discover
exactly what that is.
Calls for Anonymity
Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about less
than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns regarding
privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. What this has brought attention to is
the fact that some online casinos just weren t doing enough to safeguard valued members. While steps
have been made to close the curtains as it were, it seems that online casino players are calling for more
of the same in 2016. Privacy was a hot topic last year and it looks like it will remain so this year too.
Calls for a Challenge
In what was a huge reveal by Caesars Entertainment, it was detailed that millennial players found a
large percentage of online casino slot games boring. Gary Thompson said in his statement, Through
Caesars Entertainment backed research we have located a serious problem within the industry. Reports
show that younger players feel that

Setting the Short-Term and Long-Term Goals for Newlyweds
Setting the Short term and Long term Goals for Newlyweds
It is important for the newlyweds to have a financial plans set up as it helps them have a focus in life
and have a reason for saving money. The short term goals would involve things that would not require
a lot of money and thus would be achieved in a short time. The long term goals on the other hand
would entail things that require a lot of money to accomplish and thereby take more time to complete
(McKeown, 2012).

Long term Goals
One of the long term goals that I would advise the couple to set is building a house. They would have
to decide they year they want to build the house and the size of the house they would prefer. This
would help them estimate the amount they would need to save monthly. Including retirement funds as
one of the long term goals is also important. The couple should thus set a specific amount monthly to
cater for this (Hallman Rosenbloom, 2003).
The couple should decide the number of children they wish to have. This would help them plan for
their education expenses and thereby make the burden light when they finally go to college. Setting
aside a specific amount of money monthly is highly advised. I would also advise the couple to come
up with a business idea that they would invest in and manage. They would therefore need to save
monthly towards this course (Hallman Rosenbloom, 2003).
Building a house save $1500 monthly for the next 10 years
Retirement funds save $100 monthly until they retire
Children s college fees save $ 500 monthly until the children have completed college

Analysis Of Jay Z s August 4th
Jay Z s December 4th was the first song on his Black Album, which was released in 2003, during one
of the many peaks in the rapper s career. The song includes his mother talking about his childhood in
between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his life up until he
formed the persona that is Jay Z. Although December 4th is thought to have been about the rappers s
presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career, instead, the December 4th is
about the artist s transition from Shawn Carter to Jay Z. He tells the story, not of the end, but of the
beginning of Jay Z and he does this by separating himself from his former self, Shawn Carter;
examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay Z was born and continues to live.
This song is very indicative of a speaker who is narrating and advising his former self and showing the
importance of accepting and how one came to be. The song begins almost as a confessional, telling his
audience about the decisions and choices he made leading up to the creation of Jay Z . When he says, I
m leaving after this song/ So you ain t gotta feel no way about Jay so long/ At least let me tell you why
I m this way, the rapper is letting his audience know that this song is about his life and the aspects of
his upbringing that lead him to his present life as Jay Z. It is also important to note that the lines above
are being told from the point of view of Carter

Teaser: Horseradish may be more effective than pharmaceuticals for fighting infections.
Photo 1
Article: The more science studies whole foods the more we learn that they may ultimately be our
salvation when it comes to curing major, life threatening illnesses. Even a humble root vegetable like
horseradish mainly used as a condiment is now being studied for it s many health benefits. Now, for
the first time science has identified and measured cancer fighting compounds, known as
glucosinolates, noting that horseradish contains approximately 10 times more glucosinolates than its
superfood cousin, broccoli.
More than just heat and flavor
Powerful and pungent horseradish is well known for adding heat to dishes. But this plant is also
connected to a wide variety of health benefits, including its ability to aid weight loss, lower blood
pressure, alleviate respiratory conditions, build strong bones, improve immune system health, promote
heart health, stimulate healthy digestion and most notably, horseradish can prevent cancer due to its
extremely high levels of glucosinolates. A recent study published in the Journal of Agriculture and
Food Chemisty shows glucosinolates could help detoxify and eliminate cancer causing free radicals in
the body. We knew horseradish had health benefits, said University of Illinois scientist Mosbah
Kushad, but in this study,

The Innocent Man Book Response Essay
The Innocent Man Book Response In today s society the criminal justice system that we live in is
flawed in so many ways. Some say that it works while others go to prison or jail for crimes that they
didn t commit. In this paper I will be covering specific examples from the book, The Innocent Man,
where the defendant s rights were violated. John Grisham talks about innocent men being innocent
and convicted for murder and sent to unlawful court proceedings. In this paper I will be focusing
mainly on the violations of his 6th amendment. The 6th amendment is the right to effective assistance
of counsel. Now Mr. Williamson was a very indigent or poor man and because of that he couldn t
afford a great attorney. Therefore he was assigned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This violation being in the form of a videotape, which could have completely changed the outcome of
the case. On this videotape there was a full confession from Ricky Simmons. Barney Ward knew all
about this videotape (as it was shared with him along with all other information) yet he chose not to
bring this evidence to the table and share it with the jury. Judge Jones ruled that the tape was not a
Brady violation. The tape was not really hidden; it was handed over after the trial, sort of a delayed
submission (Grisham pg. 258) .This one piece of evidence alone would have been enough to change
the opinions of the jury and change the outcome of the trail. However because Barney Ward did NOT
show this video, this is a clear violation of Mr. Williamson s 6th Amendment, which guarantees that in
all criminal prosecutions there must be an effective assistance of counsel (Cole and Smith pg. 84). In
my opinion at no point in this trial was Ron Williamson s attorney an effective assistance of counsel .
Now the last example of how Ron Williamson s 6th Amendment was violated was as the very
beginning of all this. During the investigation of the crime scene, the police conducting the search had
found two hair samples. There was no proof that either of these belonged to Mr. Williamson, however
they still claimed that it had come from the scalp of Mr. Williamson. However this is just a claim and
Barney Ward knew that and should have jumped on this opportunity. Mr. Ward

From 1960, when Somalia got its independence, Somalia Republic was a constitutional democratic
state with a constitution approved by a referendum. From 1960 to 1969, the constitution got rid of a
civilian, legislative governance structure and protected human rights under the rule of two consecutive
and democratically voted governments. In 1969, bloodless military takeover took place and suspended
the constitution. As a result of the oppressive rule of Siyad , there was massive dissatisfaction and

The successful MPs subsequently elected the Speaker, Mohamed Osman Jawari and President Hassan
Sheikh Mohamud. The country has adopted a federal system of governance which is still at an early
stage, and laden with confusion and constitutional ambiguities. Only one federal member state
(Puntland) is in existence, and there are several emerging states although the processes and
commissions through which federal states should be formed are yet to be fully formed. The
international community and foreign diplomats assigned to Somalia play an integral role in facilitating
dialogue among the key political actors, and their interventions have huge impacts in the future of the
country. In order to have a functional federal Somalia, several issues should be tackled and addressed:
Clarifying and amending the ambiguous and inconsistent constitutional clauses in the constitution,
determining and agreement on the federal state boundaries, and putting in place resources and power
sharing mechanisms. Therefore, given these challenges and potential opportunities, the role of the
international community, especially the regional bodies (IGAD, AU and others) should be based on a

Why Safe Spaces Are Bad For America Analysis
Trigger Warnings on College Campuses
According to the Harvard Political Review, a safe space regarding a college campus is defined as
protection from emotional discomfort. Although being comfortable about yourself and your opinions
is a good thing, having designated spaces where people can not voice their opinion because it could
hurt someone is not. In an interview with political and civil rights activists and former advisor to
former president Barack Obama, Van Jones. He was asked where he stood on the subject of safe
spaces on college campuses. Van Jones responded with,

This is important because without this we are left with only what we ourselves have experienced, and
limits our knowledge of different subjects. Later in the article it goes on to say If we truly want to
change the world, we have to reach out for those with whom we profoundly disagree. We have to
understand where each individual s beliefs stem from. We cannot risk dividing the country. This is
important because we cannot isolate ourselves with only people that share our beliefs. This makes the
country counterproductive, and does not let us progress as a society. Another reason why safe spaces
should not be implemented in colleges is because the majority of students don t mind the subjects. In

How Does Darcy Develop In Pride And Prejudice
In the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, the characters progressed throughout the course of the
story. For instance, two of the main characters, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Beginning with Mr.
Darcy. At the rise of the story, Darcy is perceived as a very arrogant and fairly obnoxious human
being. This is mostly due to his, well, arrogant and obnoxious behavior at the ball. He firmly refused
to dance with Elizabeth, though later in the story he is very taken by her, because she was not pleasing
to his eyes and did not live up to his standards. Darcy later tries to justify this as, in a way, him being
shy and having a difficult time introducing himself to and becoming comfortable with new people. In
contrast to the beginning, as the story progresses, Darcy falls more in love with Elizabeth Bennet and
proposes marriage to her, though she declines. At that point in the book, Elizabeth was still thinking of
Darcy based off of her first impression of him as a rich, arrogant snob. Later Darcy begins to show his
true colors, not only to the reader, but to Elizabeth as well. This prompt Elizabeth to see just how

Elizabeth s loath towards Mr. Darcy. Although Elizabeth, as most everybody else at the ball did, got
the impression of Darcy being arrogant and obnoxious. Surely Darcy refusing to dance with her

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening And Desert Places
Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and Desert Places are complementary works
which coincide with the naturesque elements most commonly ascribed to Frost. The two poems were
published over a decade apart in a period after the first World War where feelings of lack of
community and self worth had grown in precedents amongst the general public. The early years of
Frost s literary career were spent on his poultry farm in Derry, New Hampshire as he toiled his land.
Although Frost made for a bad farmer and suffered many difficulties and losses, it was during that
time when he developed his colloquial style of poetry. Of his numerous works, Stopping by Woods on
a Snowy Evening and Desert Places both share a common wintertime setting and similar, but
contrasting, language and themes.
From the features that draw on the distinctness between the poems is their linguistic style. In Stopping
by Woods , the language used is more rhythmic and sing song like than the gloomy, earnest
descriptions portrayed in Desert Places . The duo was also written with four stanzas in iambic meter
with similar rhyme schemes, however the difference between the two lies in the verbatim used to
illustrate nature as an omnipresent force. In Desert Places , Robert Frost s persona describes the snow
as engulfing the landscape, And the ground almost covered smooth in snow/And a few weeds and
stubble showing last. (3 4). On the other hand, in Stopping by Woods the snow has a

First of all, Mr. King got his first job as an auto shop repairer when he was a junior, this job was a part
time job. He had learned many skills from this first job, he mentions that the first job was important
and unforgettable because it built a path of his career. However, he found some difficulties of this job,
such as the communication was a big issue because when students enter to workforce, the way that
people communicate is different than the way that students learn in colleges.
Just right after graduate, some students might have hard time to find a professional position as an
engineer. During the interview, this engineer suggests that from the different perspectives, the students
should get employed first, then, think about their career. In Your First Job Doesn t (Really) Matter,
Jodi Glickman, a contributor to the Harvard Business Review, describes the pre job training and
knowledge that people learn should not be all for their professional learning. Indeed, she says what
she did do is learn a whole lot about myself, about relating to others, about adjusting expectations and
managing difficult workplace environments (Glickman). Same as what Glickman describes, Mr. King
did not suggest that student should immediately get into their professional working when they get their
first job or do not be too concerned about whether their first job is related to their major. For them, the

Essay on Cause and Effect
Cause and Effect of Price Wars
When large sums of money are at stake, many companies bend and flex to their limits to guarantee
defeat over the competition. Sometimes they take a loss in one area for a gain in another area. There is
a cause for every action the company makes, and in return for their action there is an effect. Although
the effect can sometimes be pre determined, no one is really sure what the outcome is going to be until
the time comes.
There are millions of cars on the road today and they all require tires. When an owner replaces the
tires on his or her vehicle, they can decide what make and model will be on the car. But when a buyer

They ran them at 90 miles per hour for 200 miles at and average temperature of 90 degrees, which is
not exactly considered every day driving. The effect of these cheaper, lower quality tires was tread belt
separation. This occurs when the tread of the tire peals away from the rest of the tire (http://archives
. ) The effect of the tire separation caused many more problems. Firestone was forced to recall 6.5
million tires. The tires that were affected buy the recall were the Radial ATX, Radial AXT II, and
some Wilderness AT tires. Only the versions of these tires that have VD at the beginning of the serial
number are affected. These tires are found mainly on the Ford Explorer and the Mercury Mountaineer.
We made some bad tires and we take full responsibility for those said Firestone executive John Lampe
(Naughton). The effect of these 6.5 million recalled tires is starting to show through. We have seen an
alarming number of serious accidents from rollovers of the Explorer after a tire failure said Firestone s
Lampe while arguing his defense in front of the supreme court. Evidence directly relates 103 deaths
and 400 injuries to these tires. These statistics were based on 2226 consumer complaints. There are
also over 600 deaths alone from the Explorer rolling over, but not all have been investigated to
determine if the tires were the cause. Unfortunately the number of deaths and injuries is rising every
day due to

The Awakening By Edna Is A Symbol Of Hope For Women
In today s society, all across the globe, women are treated as less than men. Despite how far our
society has come, we still have much more to conquer. On average, men make 30% more money on
their paychecks and are often treated like they deserve more than their counterparts. In The
Awakening, Edna is a representation of women as a whole, as she is not treated with the respect a
woman deserves. She is overlooked and ignored by her husband, which leads her to doing some
questionable things. Edna is then looked at as the bad person in the relationship even though she was
the one being pushed around in the situation. Specifically, Edna represents women s mistreatment
throughout time, but her character also shows how this slave like treatment has led women to have a
lack of individualism. In addition, Edna is a symbol of hope for women in the future. Edna shows that
women don t always have to listen to men, as amazing things can happen if a woman listens to herself.
Edna s portrayal as a female character who is often mistreated reveals that women throughout time
have been forced to conform to man s opinion, thus leading to a lack of individualism. When in fact
women should be listening to themselves and not second guessing their beliefs.
Despite how far our society has come in treating women as equals to men, we still have many more
mountains to climb before both genders are completely equal. Since the dawn of time, women have
been treated as less than men and in

Confronting an ongoing world economic recession and very high rates of unemployment throughout
certain parts of the world such as Europe, the EEC was looking for many new ways to get the most out
of its union. June, 1984, a meeting in Fontainebleau, France, established a Committee on Institutional
Affairs under the chairmanship of Irish Senator James Doodge. The committee proposed not only that
the EEC work harder toward achieving the already stated goal of abolishing frontiers with the
common market, but also that the European Parliament be given more decision making power and the
European Community be allowed a greater role in security and defense matters. Lord Arthur
Cockfield, Who was responsible for preparing a detailed program and timetable for completing the
internal market, took a more cautious approach that centered on economics, but that went far beyond
the current customs union. Space he oversaw the writing of completing the internal market: White

  • 2. Employment Relationship Within The Usa The USA is one of the only some countries where employment is principally at will. All states apart from Montana assume such relationship of employment in the U.S (2005, Ewing, North, Taylor). The majority countries of the world let employers to release employee simply for cause. A number of the reasons specified for the retention of the at will assumption comprise employer deference, respect for autonomy of contract, and the faith that equally employers and employees support an at will employment relationship above security of job. At will denotes that an employer can fire an employee at whatever time for any cause apart from some biased reasons, or for no reason devoid of sustaining legal accountability. Likewise, an employee has right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agreements of Collective bargaining typically offer that represented employees might merely be terminated for a cause. Cause usually comprises reasons for instance poor employee misconduct, employee performance, or economic necessity. A contract of employment might exclusively delineate the situations or employee actions that would direct to termination for cause. Courts above the years, have carved out exemptions to the Employment at will (EAW) assumption to lessen its sometimes inconsiderate outcomes (Karen, 2005). The 3 foremost exceptions of common law are implied contract, public policy, and implied convention of good faith. The presumption of at will is strong, on the other hand, and it can be hard for an employee to establish that his circumstances fall in one of the exemptions. Additionally, not all of the exceptions are distinguished by all jurisdictions. For most of the people, conditions are difficult and desperate. Chronic food shortages are widespread, and starvation levels among young children are high (Ruralpoverty.org). Chad fairs poorly with regard to the four generic factors of production. As much of Chad is positioned within the hot and dry Sahara Desert made up of barren land, most of the country is a limiting resource. Natural resources are limited and or under developed. As there is very little manufacturing, there is little improvement in improving production processes for turning natural resources into consumer goods. The labor pool is small, young and uneducated. 80% of the workforce is employed in labor intensive farming. Just 20% of the workforce is employed in the higher skilled areas of manufacturing and providing technical services (CIA.gov). Much of Chad s workforce is one dimensional and not able to be flexible enough to move to other areas as training is limited and the education system is almost non existent. Regarding capital, like other countries in poverty lacking in natural resources, Chad must import goods and is reliant on on foreign aid. Investors are frightened by the challenging business climate in Chad. In 2012, Chad was ranked last in the world in ease of doing business by the World Bank. • 4. The Role Of Urbanization In A Northern Suburb The poem A Northern Suburb portrays urbanization as the main proponent of the distress that the lower class are facing. One method Davidson uses to communicate this message is by surrounding urbanization with feeding imagery. It is urbanization s whetted fangs (5) that devour (6) the rural suburb, which portrays its change on society as consuming. The lower class is being viewed as food, which further strengthens this idea of hunger. The poor now live in small houses that are described as Ovens (16), Ice chests (15) and cupboards (14). These descriptions lead to an idea of the community as food living in various parts of a kitchen and with urbanization as the head chef. This consumption imagery leads to a view of the lower class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Communicating Through Numbers in Toni Morrison s Beloved... Communicating Through Numbers in Beloved Humanity uses numbers as a way to communicate beyond words, evoking ideas more readily than words alone are able to. All religions and cultures have significant numbers that communicate an essence or idea more quickly and completely than words can. It is in this manner that Toni Morrison uses numbers in Beloved. Significant numbers occur starting with the first symbols of the text and the words on the pages before the body of the text starts. 124. The first thing to appear, and we already have a significant number. Sethe has four children. The third one is dead. Numbers 1, 2, and 4 remain. Another number that stands alone in its significance is twenty eight. Twenty eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than tell Sethe with words that trying to kill her children was inhuman, Paul D uses numbers: You got two feet, Sethe, not four (165). There are thirty women that arrive to remove Beloved. Thirty is a symbol of justice and order, according to Marianne Schimmel. When schoolteacher arrives with his party, they are described as the four horsemen (148). In fact, the only time a number occurs by itself as a sentence is to describe them: All the while it was coming down the road. Four. Riding close together, bunched up like, and righteous (157). Each of these is a powerful symbol, though none of these numbers recur in the text, at least not with these meanings. Two is duality, a pair, a division. It is also a unity, two halves of the same whole. Sex is expressed in many cultures as a duality, the yin and yang, father sky and mother earth. In Beloved, twos, fours, and even twenties occur in situations related to sex and children. Baby Suggs has eight children (209), four girls, four boys. Sethe has four. Two boys, two girls. 124 has two stories, and Sethe and Paul D have sex on the second floor. At Mrs. Garner s wedding, they ate four sheep (59). From the two buckets of blackberries he picked, Stamp Paid put two into the mouth of four week old Denver (170). At Baby Suggs revival, after talking about your life holding womb and your life giving private parts, the crowd sings in four part harmony (89). Such a performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The racism displayed at this university is undeniable and very visible which in result scares away many diverse students. Colleges claim to be diverse but with the lack of minorities due to the recognizable racism issues and problems this proposes an important matter. The University of Mississippi has its share of racial issues, which result in bad media coverage and lessening the number of diverse students even more. While this is far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in Republican Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the competitiveness of elections to lower level political offices. The novels are composed of male and female gothic characteristics, involved in gendered portrayals of supernatural events. The gothic genre is used in these novels in unique ways, however they both portray gendered depictions of the gothic genre. When Henry Tilney addresses Catherine, ensuring that there is no hope of a relationship, she returns to her room. Catherine s obsession with Henry s denial is attributed as she, wondered over the repetition of a disappointment for nine successive mornings (Austen 227). Aisha Atherton 300335111 Tutor s Name: Nick Allan Tuesday, 5.10 7pm, EA404A Abstract The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002) Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students. Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship. Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy? Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl, Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability to understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as an individual who shows traits of ... • 18. The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Privacy There are many laws that outline workplace privacy. Although, legal protections for employee privacy rights are established in the constitution, common laws, and statutes, it is complex to prove in the courts (Walsh, 2013). Typically, most employees have a reasonable expectation of privacy at the workplace. Consequently, an employee s interpretation of what is reasonable, and not reasonable, may not be defined the same by one s employer (Barendt, 2016). The principle concept most employees have, in respect to reasonable expectancy of privacy, is also applicable to invasion of privacy claims (Barendt, 2016). According to the text, if an employee cannot be said to have had a reasonable expectation of privacy under the circumstances , then they will not be successful with a privacy claim (Walsh, 2013, p. 582). Nevertheless, most employers notify and/or have policies in place, which identify that employees are subject to monitoring, searches, and other possible invasive actions (Walsh, 2013). Thus, in this case, an employee would not be deemed to have reasonable expectations of privacy. Needless to say, if an employer does not have existing policies in place to establish an expectation of privacy, a privacy claim would be warranted (Walsh, 2013). Furthermore, the United States continues to adapt laws to protect privacy rights (King, 2016). KPIs are defined as a set of quantifiable measures that a company or industry uses to gauge or compare performance in terms of meeting their strategic and operational goals (Investopedia, 2015). The KPIs chosen for JPS should reflect its goals. As shown in the Fishbone diagram, healthcare providers are tasked with multiple moving parts such as patient care, facility management (environment) and emergency room conditions. Between 17% and 65% of people with a leg ulcer experience severe or continuous pain with a major impact on quality of life (Briggs and Nelson, 2003) and effective pain relief is important to maximise quality of life, to enable mobilisation and improve appetite to facilitate wound healing. The song includes his mother talking about his childhood in between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his life up until he formed the persona that is Jay Z. Although December 4th is thought to have been about the rappers s presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career, instead, the December 4th is about the artist s transition from Shawn Carter to Jay Z. He tells the story, not of the end, but of the beginning of Jay Z and he does this by separating himself from his former self, Shawn Carter; examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay Z was born and continues to live. Judge Jones ruled that the tape was not a Brady violation. The tape was not really hidden; it was handed over after the trial, sort of a delayed submission (Grisham pg. 258) .This one piece of evidence alone would have been enough to change the opinions of the jury and change the outcome of the trail. However because Barney Ward did NOT show this video, this is a clear violation of Mr. Williamson s 6th Amendment, which guarantees that in all criminal prosecutions there must be an effective assistance of counsel (Cole and Smith pg. 84). Later in the article it goes on to say If we truly want to change the world, we have to reach out for those with whom we profoundly disagree. We have to understand where each individual s beliefs stem from. We cannot risk dividing the country. This is important because we cannot isolate ourselves with only people that share our beliefs. This makes the country counterproductive, and does not let us progress as a society. Another reason why safe spaces should not be implemented in colleges is because the majority of students don t mind the subjects. • 41. How Does Darcy Develop In Pride And Prejudice In the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, the characters progressed throughout the course of the story. For instance, two of the main characters, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Beginning with Mr. Darcy. At the rise of the story, Darcy is perceived as a very arrogant and fairly obnoxious human being. This is mostly due to his, well, arrogant and obnoxious behavior at the ball. He firmly refused to dance with Elizabeth, though later in the story he is very taken by her, because she was not pleasing to his eyes and did not live up to his standards. Darcy later tries to justify this as, in a way, him being shy and having a difficult time introducing himself to and becoming comfortable with new people. In contrast to the beginning, as the story progresses, Darcy falls more in love with Elizabeth Bennet and proposes marriage to her, though she declines. At that point in the book, Elizabeth was still thinking of Darcy based off of her first impression of him as a rich, arrogant snob. Later Darcy begins to show his true colors, not only to the reader, but to Elizabeth as well. This prompt Elizabeth to see just how wrong she was about Darcy ... Her mother is ill mannered and only concerned with finding her 5 daughters eligible bachelors to marry. Her father is completely withdrawn from his wife and children, though he is quite close to Elizabeth due to their very similar personalities. It is well shown in the book that Elizabeth has a tendency to rash decisions and therefore jumps to pretty reckless conclusions. This is thought to be one of the main reasons in Elizabeth s loath towards Mr. Darcy. Although Elizabeth, as most everybody else at the ball did, got the impression of Darcy being arrogant and obnoxious. • 43. Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening And Desert Places Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and Desert Places are complementary works which coincide with the naturesque elements most commonly ascribed to Frost. The two poems were published over a decade apart in a period after the first World War where feelings of lack of community and self worth had grown in precedents amongst the general public. The early years of Frost s literary career were spent on his poultry farm in Derry, New Hampshire as he toiled his land. Although Frost made for a bad farmer and suffered many difficulties and losses, it was during that time when he developed his colloquial style of poetry. Of his numerous works, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and Desert Places both share a common wintertime setting and similar, but contrasting, language and themes. From the features that draw on the distinctness between the poems is their linguistic style. In Stopping by Woods , the language used is more rhythmic and sing song like than the gloomy, earnest descriptions portrayed in Desert Places . The duo was also written with four stanzas in iambic meter with similar rhyme schemes, however the difference between the two lies in the verbatim used to illustrate nature as an omnipresent force. In Desert Places , Robert Frost s persona describes the snow as engulfing the landscape, And the ground almost covered smooth in snow/And a few weeds and stubble showing last. (3 4). On the other hand, in Stopping by Woods the snow has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the effect can sometimes be pre determined, no one is really sure what the outcome is going to be until the time comes. • 48. The Awakening By Edna Is A Symbol Of Hope For Women In today s society, all across the globe, women are treated as less than men. Despite how far our society has come, we still have much more to conquer. On average, men make 30% more money on their paychecks and are often treated like they deserve more than their counterparts. In The Awakening, Edna is a representation of women as a whole, as she is not treated with the respect a woman deserves. She is overlooked and ignored by her husband, which leads her to doing some questionable things. Edna is then looked at as the bad person in the relationship even though she was the one being pushed around in the situation. Specifically, Edna represents women s mistreatment throughout time, but her character also shows how this slave like treatment has led women to have a lack of individualism. In addition, Edna is a symbol of hope for women in the future. Edna shows that women don t always have to listen to men, as amazing things can happen if a woman listens to herself. Edna s portrayal as a female character who is often mistreated reveals that women throughout time have been forced to conform to man s opinion, thus leading to a lack of individualism. When in fact women should be listening to themselves and not second guessing their beliefs. Despite how far our society has come in treating women as equals to men, we still have many more mountains to climb before both genders are completely equal.
