WAN reduce unwanted network traffic. A VLAN structure will also be implemented to enhance the

The Importance Of My High School Band
I play the French horn in my high school band. Our band is small only 25 30 members but we
are a family. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s
the constant pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person
has to play to the absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong
player in order for our band to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I
was shocked to see that some kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency.

I often struggle to comprehend how good of a player I am, especially because I have performance
anxiety which hinders me during auditions and most performances. I constantly compare myself to
this amazing player who auditions well, who is regularly being recognized for musical
achievements, and who can never quite understand the concept of humility. He never understood
my struggle, so I was left adrift in an overwhelming sea of ineptitude.

hive of society and die away from it when we are no longer efficient and profitable. Through the

In earlier times, scouts were used to survey the positions of enemies or to survey and chart the
frontier. In the end, scouts were used to learn about thing not known before, to go places not gone
before, and most importantly, to pass on this garnered knowledge to others. In the poem, the speaker
is a scout, but not in the common sense. The speaker is a scout for the underbelly if society, a

to share her story with another person, she recognizes grinding (13) as a sweet melody (13). The
juxtaposition of these two opposite words shows the extent to which she has been ignored. She
equates the rustic, and unpleasant sound of grinding (13) to that produced by an ice cream
summons (14). The music of an ice cream truck causes all of us to have hope, the hope of an ice
cream bar or cone, the hope that we can all be happy. The speaker, after being dragged down to the
streets instead if succeeding, reaches out to any sound for hope as it is fleeting in her situation.
This idea that she latches onto the even most obscure sign of hope is demonstrated through her

the poems link together, but the authors do as well. This paper will present biographical
information about the authors, symbols throughout the poems, and the literary elements the authors
chose to use in the poems. It will also explain how the symbols and literary elements that are used
help emphasize the themes that the authors have chosen.
Author of the poem Suicide Note, Janice Miriktani was born in 1941 (Bostian). Her writing
journey began in 1965. Janice published her first volume out of four in 1978. Janice, just like
many other writers, had struggles throughout her life. Janice was sexually abused by her family
and was forced to keep it a secret (Bostian). One out of her four volumes of poetry stemmed from
the tragic events that she had faced. It is Shedding Silence: Poetry and Prose, and contains a
total of 35 poems, a short play entitled Shedding Silence, and some short stories (Bostian).
Because Mirikitani sought to break the cycle of violence created by her past that is set by being
silent, her tone is angry and aggressive in most poems. Her family was also involved in World War
II conflicts (Bostian). Since she was Japanese American, she was often mistreated due to the harsh

Any sign of deviancy would be punished by the patriarchal system of that time, especially that of a
deviant girl. As the patriarch was entirely male, the oppression of the female gender was swift and
harsh.
At Lowood Jane ultimately has to conform to the rules and regulations of the male domination to
exist and live. Here she becomes a quiet...disciplined and subdued character. This time in Jane s life,

Throughout the course of the text this female character pulls herself up from no social standing

conditions, without having to compromise her beliefs or herself. Jane s relationship with
Rochester is a key element of Bronte s revising the master narrative. She of course falls in love
with Rochester whilst she is a member of his staff, she has no independence of her own, whether
that be financial or otherwise. She ends up fleeing Thornfield, for despite her love of Rochester,
she wants to be equal, and knows he ultimately wants to master her. A sign of what a typical
Victorian marriage was like, in which the woman would submit to the man and obey his orders.

Passenger to put to words his feelings of displacement and unfamiliarity with the world around

Social Classes In Hinduism And The Caste System
Hinduism reinforces the caste system, which is a division of society into social classes that are
created by birth or occupation and it is a prevalent social system of Hinduism (Molloy 90). Thus,
class and race are both elements affected by the caste system. There are different castes, or social
classes, and there are also subcastes. Despite the castebeing permanent for one s life, it s not to
say that those in lower castes cannot move up to a higher caste. This is where the concept of
rebirth comes into Hinduism, which is the idea that an individual can make certain choices in their
lives, good or bad, and this can affect what caste they will be reborn into. There are five main
social classes in Hinduism, they are as follows: the priest, the warrior noble, the merchant, the
