Similarities Between India And Australia s Economy
Type Size of the Economy and Economic Growth:
Australia and India have many similarities but also have many differences. Australia is a developed
country which continues to grow, India was an underdeveloped nation but India has now become a
mixed economy, their economy was laissez faire economy. India is developing into an open market
economy (developed). Australia and India have differences in the market economy, Australia is a
developed country which continues to grow, by 2012, Australia had experienced more than 20
years of continued economic growth with the average of 3.5% a year. Most of the growth in India
from now has been jobless growth. Labour intensive sectors like manufacturing and agriculture, tied

Australia is ranked the world s happiest nation among developed economies due to its overall
strength of its economy. They are ranked the second best country in the world for its quality of
life. Their quality of life is measured by its range of measurements such as education attainment,
life expectancy and gross national income per capita. India s quality of life plays a huge role, their
quality of life is measured by GDP and the human development index (HDI). Australia s quality of
life is better than India s because of their economic situation, education and life expectancy.
Australia is exposed to more education than India, also having the basic

Feminine Mystique Analysis
In Friedan s The Feminine Mystique , she addresses the unspoken problem of women, especially
housewives, in the 1950 s and 60 s. Women were taught to be a mother and wife and to embrace
their femininity. They were also taught to reject academia and pity the neurotic, unfeminine,
unhappy women who wanted to be poets, physicists, or presidents. These women were consuming
what was given to them in pop culture. They dyed their hair blonde and ate chalk to lose weight.
The dream for women during this time was to be the perfect suburban housewife, which included a
good marriage, four children, and nice house in the suburbs.
Friedan states that if a woman had a problem, she knew something was wrong with either herself
or her marriage. Since no one else discussed their dissatisfaction with their wifely duties, the
women who felt this believed they were the only one in this situation and something must be
wrong with them. Friedan calls this the problem that has no name because there was a mass
number of women feeling this way, but no one could put a name to this condition. Women who had
this problem described it as feeling empty and incomplete, as if they didn t exist. Although many
women were feeling this way, the media still portrayed women as happy housewives, further
reinforcing that no other women were feeling that way. Friedan goes on to say that we can no
longer ignore this issue and lists the reasons people had to explain this phenomenon, such as the
loss of femininity, too much education, or the demands of domesticity. She refutes these points, and
at the end, Friedan says there is more behind the problem that has no name and, again, we can no
longer ignore it.
In the Barbara Smith reading, she starts out by talking about figuring out a name for her book
Home Girls , and how many black people who are threatened by feminism argue that you have left
the race and are no longer a part of the black community if you are a feminist. Smith states that
black feminism is a natural part of the black experience despite the separation it appears to have
from the black community. Black women, Smith says, have been reluctant to identify with the
liberation struggle due to a number of reasons, including the

Major Phases Of A Company Growth
9. The three major phases of a company growth are the entrepreneurial phase, the managerial phase
and the consolidation phase. First, in the entrepreneurial phase a company focuses on its core
activities and on which market paths it should follow. Moreover, in terms of their facility, its policy
can be expected to emphasize on its functional needs rather than expending resources on symbolic
features. Additionally, there might be some uncertainty regarding the company future and a lack of
access to professional knowledge of space management, which may cause overcrowding and badly
chosen timing of relocation.
Second, during the managerial phase a company still focuses on its fundamental activities. .
However, now the company can now adopt workspace layout reflecting hierarchical tendencies. In
addition, new problem may occur requiring experts because of special space requirements.
Likewise, because of lack of management focus on the distribution of the space, issues related to
facilities and support services are dealt irregularly.
And third, during the consolidation phase skills in facilities management are available and use
more constantly. Dependence on cross functional teams and calculated experimentation with
teleworking and other alternative work practices can be expected to imply changes on the layout of
the company. Also, companies should consider to exploit the opportunities to introduce facility
management procedures.

Pros And Cons Of The Volunteer Army
Markets are not the best way to achieve a just society. They often allow the wealthy to have more
freedoms and greater opportunities.
This leads to the poor being disproportionately represented in the military, and the very rich are
severely underrepresented in the military. The volunteer army may not be as voluntary as you
would think, if taken into consideration the circumstances of the men and women filling the vast
majority of the military positions. The men and women filling these positions often come from
low to middle income neighborhoods, and join out of economic necessity. While young men and
women from upper class backgrounds have opted out of military service. Only 9 students out of
Princeton s 2006 class, which had 1,108 students in it, enlisted in the military. There are similar
trends to be seen all across America in elite universities and in our capital. Only 2% of Congress
have a son or daughter enlisted in the military. Congressman Charles Rangel, a democrat who
opposed the Iraq war, believes that the war never would have happened if the children of
policymakers had to bear the burden of fighting it. The volunteer army is unfair, because of class
discrimination that entices young people to risk their lives for college educations and other benefits.
Conscription is the solution to inequalities such as these. Conscription would make it fair among
the economic classes, so that everyone would be fairly represented throughout our military. Serving

Farming Is The Nation s Most Important And Noblest...
When you think about farming what comes to mind? Do you think about older gentlemen on
tractors, or young boys helping there father feed the family herd. Maybe you even think about
thousands of acres of corn land in Iowa. Whatever it is I can assure you farming is the nation s
most important and noblest profession. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s
not necessarily the case, it is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year.
In 2012 alone three hundred and seventy four farmers and farmworkers lost there lives due to work
related injuries, and every day a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agricultureworkers suffer a
work related injury(CDC 2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to
farm safety many people are ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment
or even removing a safety shield to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in
our brains that bad things only happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves,
that s not the case. I think that if farmers will take the time to slow down and be more careful and
think things through we will cut down drastically on injuries. If you think about it many farmers
are constantly stressed, they simply don t have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks
at hand so they begin to rush which causes shortcuts to be made which can potentially lead to injury
or death.
Like I mentioned

The 6В°C had a rate of 0.133 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.0015 kPa/sec for Trial 2, which averages out
to 0.06725 kPa/sec. The 24В°C had a rate of 0.083 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.001 kPa/sec for Trial
2, producing an overall average of 0.042 kPa/sec. The 34В°C had a rate of 0.014 kPa/sec for Trial 1
and 0.0008 kPa/sec for Trial 2, which averages out to 0.0074 kPa/sec. In 46В°C, both trials resulted
in 0.00 kPa/sec, producing an average of 0.00 kPa/sec. Compared to 24В°C, 34В°C, and 46В°C,
the 6В°C had the highest rate of enzyme activity. At 46В°C, there is no rate of enzyme activity. The
graph presents a direct relationship between the temperature and rate of enzyme activity. The line of
best fits shows that as temperature increases, the rate of enzyme activity decreases.
Conclusion:
If the enzyme is placed in higher temperatures than its optimal temperature, then the rate of enzyme
activity will decrease or possibly denature. This hypothesis is proven correct throughout the
experiment results and findings. In this experiment, once the enzyme was placed in a temperature
beyond its optimal temperature of 37В°C, the enzyme denatured. This ... Show more content on

This means having a variety of different temperatures rather than just four temperatures. Having
more variables in the experiment will make it easier to see the trend on a graph. Having freezing
temperature to very hot temperatures will help determine the optimal temperature of an enzyme, at
what temperature the enzyme denatures, and how the enzyme rate of activity changes throughout
the temperature range. Another scenario that could have been done differently to improve the
results of the experiment is the agitation of the yeast in test tube should have been done in a more
consistent manner. The tapping was intermittent and some taps were elongated or shortened. It is

Essay On Curling
The sport of curling is steeped in tradition yet on that note it is still changing. Not surprisingly,
Canada has had a great year winning both the men s world championship and the women s world
championship. Canada has always been a force to reckon with and this year was no exception.
They have been very strong all year long with a couple of world class teams in Glen Howard and
Kevin Martin. Kevin played a bit more consistently to earn the right to defend the world title for
Canada this year.
Maybe some news that may be a bit more surprising is the success of China. Both men and women
from China gave what is likely their best ever performances for China in the world championships.
They are showing that the rest of the world must sit up and take notice.
The traditional European teams performed well, but in general ... Show more content on

They found it necessary to bring an older player who is obviously past his peak and the team just
didn t fit well together. It was the only time I had ever heard any trash talk in curling and that
related to events that happened many years ago. That was a lack of class that you rarely see in
curling.
The Canadian team skipped by Kevin Martin however, could easily be labelled the perfect
curling team. They simply do not show a weak position. Every man on the team is doing exactly
what is asked of him through the play. What appears very interesting is the relationship between
the 3 young men and the old guy they call The Old Bear. They work extremely well together and
have learned to work with that Old Bear extremely well.
There exists a level of communication between the boys and the old guy that almost seems like
father and sons. It appears they are quite willing to offer suggestions to a man who at times in the
past, would prefer to be the boss and do it his way. He has become very comfortable with that. His
trust has been earned by them and it is

The Pros And Cons Of The Magna Carta
One might have hoped that the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta would have
provided at least some oxygen to the argument that Bad King John was perhaps not too Bad after
all; and whisper it that in some ways this traditionally most maligned of monarchs was perhaps
really rather Good.
Instead, the anticipated tsunami of popular and learned articles collectively assert, inter alia, that
John was at once cruel and coercive, treacherous and tyrannical, pusillanimous and pitiful, lazy and
lackluster. For the large part it seems that, 800 years later, opinion has broadly backed Matthew
Paris, the 13th century chronicler who alleged that John s greatest achievement was, by dying, to
make yet more foul the existing foulness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Magna Carta of 1215 (it is important to realise that there were many reissues of Magna Carta
after the reign of John, each different to the one presented to John) is better understood as a set of
flawed peace terms designed to heal the incipient civil war between John and an element of
rebellious barons.
In order to try and bind John to their terms, the barons insisted that John accept a committee of 25
of their number empowered to police and enforce Magna Carta by seizing John s castles and assets
when he was judged by them, and against criteria put forth by them to have transgressed.
No medieval monarch could have accepted for any length of time the Magna Carta of 1215, for
it clearly rendered the king a phantom of a monarch. Indeed, so extreme was this impact that it is
not beyond sensible contemplation that the ambition of the rebel barons was not to obtain a
lasting peace, but instead absolutely to provoke John to break the newly agreed terms so that they
could seize his largesse. John did indeed overturn Magna Carta, but arguably any medieval
monarch would have done the same. The Magna Carta of 1215 is not the Magna Carta of popular

Marvel Comics Research Paper
In October 1939, the world required heroes. Hitler had recently attacked Poland. Britain, France,
Australia and New Zealand had proclaimed war. The US remained unbiased but it was already
taking the first steps towards the Manhattan Project and the making of the nuclear bomb. As Nazi
Germany s shadow fell over Europe, it appeared the planet was on the edge of demolition. Who
might save us? The response hit the newsstands when Timely Publications gave us Marvel Comics
#1. Emerging between the usual romance, western and crime magazines that lined the racks,
Marvel Comics was an alternate breed. Its cover demonstrated a gigantic orange figure, The Human

In any case there was, up to this point, one thing that evaded it: Hollywood success. The point
when superhero movies first started to overwhelm the box office, from Superman (1978) to
Batman (1989), they were all DC titles. Marvel never appeared to have the capacity to keep up,
regardless of being purchased by film organization New World Pictures in 1986. Film rights
were lashed to studios yet all we got was super crap as The Punisher (1989) and direct to VHS
Captain America (1990). At that point came sleeper hit Blade in 1998. The character was
basically obscure, didn t even have his own particular comic book, and had been part of Tombs

and prepared for X Men (2000). X men was a massive hit that put the Marvel Cinematic Universe

even set up its own film division Marvel Studios in the in the 90s. With such a rich back list to
work with, it was a No Brainer. Its multi billion dollar deal with The Walt Disney Company
demonstrates exactly how lucrative its characters are to Hollywood. Mouse House CEO Bob Iger

organization that based fortunes on making franchises around notable characters, was a great

Literary Analysis Of A Farewell To Arms
Haunting yet passionate, A Farewell to Arms allows readers to perceive the story from a soldier
s point of view. Hemingway depicts the harsh war with sensory but blunt details. His expression
of words has an emotional appeal on the reader, allowing his or her to put themselves in the shoes
of any character. For example, on page 73 Hemingway writes, There was sunlight coming through
the shutters. I saw the big armoire, the bare walls, and two chairs. My legs in dirty bandages, stuck
straight out of the bed. Hemingway fully describes what is seen and this permits his audience to
have a full picture in their mind.
Hemingway includes important quotes throughout the novel. On page 26, Miss Barkley starts,
You did say you loved me, didn t you? and Henry replies, Yes, I lied, I loveyou. I had not said it
before. Later, she brings up the rotten game they play as their affection isn t completely real.
The men at the mess begin to talk about protesting war on page 61, You are a foreigner. You are a
patriot. And the ones who would not make war? Can they stop it? I don t know. They speak of this
earlier in the book (page 43) as well but they can never fully understand how war starts or ends. On
page 99, Henry and Barkley speak of their love, I only wanted it for you. There isn t a me. I m you.
Don t make up a separate me. Another quote on page 200, Henry explains that he is over his
obligation of being a part of the army by saying, Anger was washed away in

Charles Schaeffer And Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
Introduction Born nearly 70 years apart from each other, Francis Schaeffer and Friedrich Nietzsche
were two very important figures in creating the modern philosophy. Two different men that studied
two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their
many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were
almost identical.
Nietzsche
One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his
native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and
critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem
of morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is
because of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to
be of value by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as
that which is objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral
values, it would seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any
values in the normative sense (652). In Thus Spake Zarathustra, he claims that to value is to create,
and that it is only through valuing that there is value. In the same section it is also claimed that
men did not discover values, nor were they given by a god; rather, human beings

Clean Water Is A Necessity For Living Well On Our Planet...
Clean water is a necessity to live well on our planet there for the teaching resource described here
will be one that can show how our plants help keep our water clean, making the purification
easier for human consumption, the container that holds the grass or plant life will drain water
out that looks a lot clearer than the container with just dirt, showing just one of the ways of how
important plants are to keeping us alive and healthy. The resource includes 2 empty plastic
bottles, a recycled bag filled with enough dirt (collected from someone s yard to save on
processing and packaging) to fill both bottles, 2 recycled plastic cups or dishes, string, grass or
other fast growing plant seeds for the initial experiment, plus a selection of other plant seeds to
plant once the initial experiment is done, a reused spray bottle. The function of plastics in this
resource has been selected due to its strength and ability to obtain water without leaking. All
plastics in the resource have been either recycled or previously used and ready for reuse. For the
dirt it has been collected from a willing participants yard so as not to need to purchase processed
and packaged potting mix style dirt which helps to minimise the effect this activity makes to the
environment. As for the seeds, there will be some packaging and processing that they have gone
through, which will make some impact on the environment, however this is unavoidable due to

Moral Character In The Great Gatsby
The Roaring Twenties was a gilded age. The flourishing economy and the lavish and carefree
mentality shrouds the immorality and corruption. The American Dream progressively becomes
tainted by materialism and individuals covet money to climb up the social ladder. Class divisions
strictly divided society and class disparity becomes apparent among the wealthy during the
formation of the old and new money . F. Scott Fitzgeraldincorporates the elements of the 1920 s in
Jay Gatsbyof The Great Gatsby. During the course of The Great Gatsby, Gatsby becomes the most
immoral character because Gatsby is willing to let go of his morals to ascend the social ladder.
Gatsby becomes the least moral character from his involvement with Meyer Wolfsheim. From his
encounter with Wolfsheim, Gatsby stepped into the business world. To demonstrate this,
Wolfsheim tells Nick, I raised him up out of nothing, right out the gutter... Right off he did some
work for a client of mine up to Albany. We were so thick like that in everything He held up two
bulbous fingers, always together. I wonder if this partnership had included the World Series
transaction in 1919 (Fitzgerald, 179). According to Gatsby, Wolfsheim is the individual that fixed
the World Series. Since Wolfshiem stated that Gatsby and Wolfsheim are always together, Nick
wonders whether Gatsby had any involvement in the baseball game. Gatsby is evidently involved in
shady business, Wolfsheim is a gangster that decorates himself

But which is more influential than the other. Gordie Howe grew up in a hard working family

including being cut from the first travel hockey team he tried out for. He went from not being

Greek Femininity and Love and Sex
To the ancient Greeks, Love and Sex were just as important as to any culture. While their
concepts of what is love and sex and there purposes differed from our modern Western concepts of
the same topics, they were also similar in many ways. One can study Greek literature and art and
find plenty of evidence to support arguments about how the Greeks felt about love, sex, and
homosexuality, it is often a one sided description provided to us from our ancient sources. Nearly
all we have left to us is the reflections of only half of the Ancient Greeks, but surely there was more

To further give evidence that women did indeed have some control in their sex lives, we must
return to Aristophanes who say that many women who are split from the androgynous human
whole are lecherous women who run after men. Much like a modern concept of a woman s sexual
freedom, she would be shamed for chasing after men the same way that a man does a woman.
Therefore, it was very possible for women to have some sexual freedom in the Ancient Greek
world, but in order to be respectable, one must not pursue your own sexual wants, but rather
remain chaste and a virgin until you were married and bore children. The problem with this is
that women were also expected to stay beautiful and sexually attractive, almost to the point of
seduction. We see this in the Homeric Hymn, the Hymn to Aphrodite. One of the three beings that
Aphrodite cannot seduce is the venerable virgin Hestia, who is wanted by and refuses both
Poseidon and Apollo, who in all the temples of the gods she is honored, and among all mortals
she is a venerated goddess. Hestia s virginity not only creates reverence from the Greeks, but it also
causes other gods to pursue her sexually. This isn t the only

Fossil Fuels versus Alternative Energy
The continued use of fossil fuels without seeking alternatives is a very dangerous practice. Earth s
temperature is rising, oceans are rising, polar ice caps are melting, Pacific waves are washing over

that pump carbon dioxide into the air seem hardly controversial. The controversy is about what
can be done to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and how can we get it done. It is already too
late, but how can we reduce the scale of the damage that is already upon us? The argument

emissions, emitting 6017.69 tons of carbon dioxide. In 2006 North America had the second highest
carbon dioxide emissions with 6,954.03 million metric tons. The leading geographic regions are
Asia and Oceania with 11,219.00 million metric tons in 2006 (Casper 39 40). In the United States

Gothic Cinema And The Movie The Conjuring
In life, some people prefer to watch movies, and some people prefer to read books. Then there
are some who love both movies and books. However, when one genre is portrayed in cinema and
in literature, it is easy to compare the two. Are they complementary or are they in opposition to
each other? In terms of gothic cinema and literature, they are both complementary to one another. In
the two movies, The Conjuring and The Skeleton Key, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand
with the style of textual gothic and they both show to have a strong aesthetic force. In the pieces of
gothic literature, The Falls, The Book of Blood, and Amityville Horror, they are all very strong
gothic pieces which all have a strong aesthetic force. In the movie, The Conjuring, gothic cinema
proves to go hand in hand with the style of textual gothic and it has a strong aesthetic force. In this
movie, it portrays many aspects of traditional gothic literature. For example, the element of the
supernatural is the main part of this movie. By making the center of this movie about supernatural
occurrences, it goes hand in hand with textual gothic. In textual gothic, there is almost always some
type of supernatural element, even if it is as small as in The Castle of Otranto. However, instead of
having a small supernatural element, The Conjuring provides the audience with extremely
terrifying and real supernatural components. For example, one terrifying moment in this movie is
when the daughter, Nancy,

Regulatory Bodies of the Education Sector
Explain the roles of regulatory bodies relevant to the education sector which exists to monitor the
legislative framework.
In this essay I plan to define what a regulatory body is, giving examples of the most prominent ones.
I will then highlight the regulatory bodies which are relevant to the education sector which exist to
monitor the legislative framework, with discussion of the role of each and how they affect the
school.
WHAT IS A REGULATORY BODY
A regulatory agency (also regulatory authority, regulatory body or regulator) is a public authority
or government agency responsible for exercising autonomous authority over some area of human
activity in a regulatory or supervisory capacity. An independent regulatory agency is a regulatory
agency that is independent from other branches or arms of the government. (Wikipedia)
Regulatory bodies are set up because there are laws and they ensure legislation is implemented.
Some of the most prominent regulatory bodies would be OFSTED, Office for Fair Trading, Food
Standards Agency, Advertising Standards, Financial Conduct Authority, Civil Aviation Authority,
and General Medical Council.
Regulatory bodies relevant to the education section include; Ofsted (Office for Standards in
Education)/ETI (Education and Training Inspectorate in Northern Ireland), Food Standards Agency,
Health and Safety Executive, Department of Education Northern Ireland/Dept for Education,
NICIE (Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education) and

The Positive Impact Of Television And Its Impact On Children
Television has greatly impacted our society in both negative and positive ways. There are
compelling arguments on both sides from the way some see television as a rich source of
information, education, and entertainment, while others blame it for society s violence, obesity, and
misinformation. It is an inevitable part of modern culture considering that we depend on TV to
keep us updated and informed with news, weather, sports, entertainment, and information.
Televisionhas warped and revolutionized the way individuals view themselves and the
environment around them by portraying unrealistic stereotypes and trying to appeal to the desired
audience. Besides influencing society as a whole, television particularly impacts children and
adolescents. It can be a part of a healthy childhood, but too much screen time is not ideal. In What
are TV Ads Selling to Children? by John J. O Connor, he explains how things haven t changed
much in the television business of children s merchandising considering that TV still feeds children
pitches for sugary cereals, sweet drinks, fruit flavored candies and blond, blue eyed dolls with
fabulous hair and the hottest clothing. For example, on Disney Channel, they showed children
drinking sugary, sweet drinks such as Capri Sun. Also, most of the advertisements were primarily
based on the newest, most up to date toys from Minecraft, to Frozen, to Spider Man Homecoming.
With that being said, when advertisements like that come on TV, children

Alice Amsden Summary
Alice Amsden was an expert in economic development who focused much of her work on the
evolution of East Asian nations from economies relying on agriculture to the development and
innovation of industrialization and technology. Amsden uses the example of a nation like South
Korea and how they have become one of the strongest economies in the world in recent years.
Amsden explains that South Korearealized that instead of capitalizing on its comparative advantage
with rice, they learned to invest in technology for the future. Thus, like Japan before them and
Taiwan and China after, they developed comparative advantages by investing in learning and
innovation. The most educated populations were to be found in Argentina, Chile, Korea, and
Taiwan. In 1950 these countries had the highest mean years of schooling (Amsden 239). Late

Tradition And Modernity In Tsitsi Dangarembga s Nervous...
Early African Literature often puzzled the conflict between tradition and modernity. Western
knowledge was almost automatically associated with modernity while tradition concerned itself
with African cultures and/or histories, the latter often given less value, while Western knowledge
was seen as the obvious path to success and advancement in life. In Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi
Dangarembgapresents this dichotomic association and exposes its toxicity through her main
female characters journeys. In the book, Tambu is plucked from her family with the opportunity
of a colonial education and she is aware from the start that these are unique possibilities that will
allow her to elevate her status. As the story progresses, the effects of Tambu s dissociation from
the homestead start to present themselves and by the end of the novel, the loss of her culture is
crippling. Nyasha undergoes a similar process growing up partly in England, away from her
extended family and her culture. For Tambu, the harmful association of progress with Western
values and culture is revealed through the juxtaposition of the description of her arrival at the
mission in the beginning of her story and her arrival at the Sacred Heart at the end of the novel, as
well as her reaction to the Christian wedding imposed to her parents by her uncle. For Nyasha, her
breakdown at the end of the novel is representative of the toxic dichotomy of modernity and
tradition within African literature. The implication

Montana Wildfires Essay
Montana Wildfires
HELENA, Mont. (AP) Beleaguered firefighters in Montana enjoyed something of a lull in their
battle against dozens of wildfires, but a new blaze near Yellowstone National Park forced the
evacuation of up to 150 homes.
And a firestorm in a remote Idaho forest destroyed most of the buildings at a guest ranch, and
another guest ranch was ordered evacuated.
There were concerns the entire town of Red Lodge, a resort community near Yellowstone in south
central Montana, might have to be evacuated in the face of the blaze. Wind was expected to gust to

Cyber Warfare Techniques And Technology Development...
To address the increasing threats to national security coming from the cyber domain, military
intelligence corps have recognized the need for officers trained in cyberspace counterterrorism
techniques, technologies, and methods. These officers direct and conduct integrated electronic
warfare, information technology, and cyberspace operations, as authorized or directed, to ensure
freedom of action in and through cyberspace and the information environment, and to deny the

In support of the requirement for officers trained in cyber warfare techniques and technologies, the
ROTC Cyber Research program provides cadets with opportunities to research and solve real world
problems in cyber security and cyber counter terrorism.
This first year pilot program research effort focused on the design and deployment of a covert
communications network that can operate at the enemy s operational base and gather intelligence
on enemy communications and activities. This effort is in support of the Year 1 Challenge Problem
of the Cyber Spectrum Research and Technology Development Virtual Environment (CSpec DVE).
The covert communications system design is optimal with regard to detection avoidance,

To rule this virus and many other similar viruses, such as West Nile Virus, Respiratory Syncytial
Virus, and other strains of the influenza virus, out the doctor can perform a number of several
different viral tests. If all of the test come back negative, a chest X Ray or a chest CT scan can be
ordered to detect pneumonia. To further confirm the SARS virus, many standard and advanced
laboratory tests can be conducted. The standard blood tests include: arterial blood tests, blood
chemistry tests, and complete blood count tests. Advanced laboratory tests include a polymerase
chain reaction test, also known as a PCR test, gram staining respiratory mucus (Davis,3), direct
isolation of the virus itself, and antibody tests. While there are many tests in existence that help

Another limitation, is the heightened possibility of false negatives. This is can be because of an

Executive Summary
Introduction
In the paper, the researcher learned about the poor integration system that was created by the
consulted. In order to improve the system there were certain things that had to be enhanced such as
the security within four main department of the campus, so it was necessary to find the best way to
reduce the WAN, include a VLAN structure and reduce broadcast traffic.
Methodology
An IP addressing table that includes routes for Denver and Houston was created to update the
router and link addresses. A multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) will be used to enhance the
security and the label within so that it can make the decision regarding the best option to transfer
data from downstream to upstream. A public client network citizenship will also be linked with the
WAN reduce unwanted network traffic. A VLAN structure will also be implemented to enhance the
security.
Results
After the implementation the new structure. The routing protocol for the router can speech a
language that they can understand to transfer data across links. The public client network
citizenship (GPO) will reduce redundant links. The new IP addresses gives the computer the ability
to communicate anywhere in remote location.
Implications
There are enough IP addresses available for growth. A min. of 20% growth is available with the
network. If they need more IP address they will have to go

The Importance Of My High School Band
I play the French horn in my high school band. Our band is small only 25 30 members but we
are a family. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s
the constant pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person
has to play to the absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong
player in order for our band to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I
was shocked to see that some kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency.
Our size in itself is a challenge. However, I have personal struggles within the band as well. There
have only been two French horn players in my band for the entirety of my high school career:
myself and the number one horn player in the state, Cross. My whole life I have played second to
an amazing musician but while I improved by playing with him, I also never received any
recognition for my personal achievements or was ever granted the primary leadership position.
I often struggle to comprehend how good of a player I am, especially because I have performance
anxiety which hinders me during auditions and most performances. I constantly compare myself to
this amazing player who auditions well, who is regularly being recognized for musical
achievements, and who can never quite understand the concept of humility. He never understood
my struggle, so I was left adrift in an overwhelming sea of ineptitude.

Leader and Managing the Changes in Health Care
Leader and Manager Healthcare is constantly changing and advancing, which requires nurses to
possess complex leadership skills that can be utilized to accomplish the most successful
outcome possible for each individual patient (Titzer, Phillips, Tooley, Hall, Shirey, 2013).
Managing these fundamental challenges necessitates the ability to acquire knowledgeable
research and implement it into a strategic plan of care for individuals and/or communities (Titzer
et al., 2013). In this paper I will explain why I chose the leader and manager role, and I will
examine the challenges and opportunities faced with this role. I will also discuss the theories
related to this role, and I will review the competences and experience that must be achieved for
this role. Leader and Manager Role I personally chose the leader and manager role due to the fact
that I have the desire and ability to empower individuals and communities to achieve the highest
goals possible. As a new nurse, I experienced the negative attitudes of nurses that seemed to be
stagnant in their roles. I witnessed the day to day care that was delivered to the patients without
the incentive to go above and beyond to make a difference. However, my next job exposed me to
a team of nurses that collaborated and strived to make a difference in the lives of their patients on
a daily basis. Being exposed to a caring environment with positive attitudes made me realize what
my role in nursing should be. Challenges and Opportunities

Darwin suggested that females preferred certain phenotypic traits as females could gain direct
benefit from these, for example, certain male characters are able to provide resources or offspring

When discussing female long term mating strategies, it has been identified that there are certain
preferences in which a female desire from a mate (Buss, 2008). Preferences include, a preference
for economic resources, a preference for industriousness and ambition, a preference for a good
physical appearance and health, and also a preference for dependability and stability. Females
prefer someone they can invest in and someone that is willing to invest in them also. And they also
desire a mate that can physically protect them and their children and that is both healthy and
displays compatibility. There are preconditions as too why these preferences have evolved, such as
the idea that resources have been made more defensible and accruable and are more controlled by
men, and the idea that men would have to be different between each other in their willingness to
somewhat invest their resources in both women and their children. Belsky et al (1991) discovered
that some men would rather invest in many women rather than one women and their children as

Australian Society In The Mid-Twentieth Century
Through the presentation of the characters within the novel, London depicts Australian society
as a stagnant, insular society bent upon quarantining people who are disabled and preventing
them from leading a full life. Elsa was the epitome of a healthy Australian, until she was struck
down by polio. London s use of imagery to describe Elsa as a drawing done with fine lead pencil
can be aligned with the image Australia was trying to convey to the rest of the world. That
Australia is a young and robust country that could not be hurt. Although much to their dismay
polio put a dent in both Elsa and Australia s almost perfect image. Elsa at times seems the very

1.INTRODUCTION:
Classical robots are usually single complex pieces of electromechanical hardware designed to
perform a task. They are typically expensive, specialized, and complicated. An alternate approach is
to use a swarm composed of a large number of very simple robots that work together, rather than a
single highly capable robot. In this approach, the strength of the system comes not from the
complexity and power of a piece of hardware, but from the cooperation of a large number of
individuals. As the cost of simple robotic components goes down and availability goes up, this
approach becomes increasingly feasible. It is currently possible, for example, ... Show more content

For successful operation they need appropriate communication strategies that should be
dynamically adaptable to possibly changing environmental requirements. A promising way to
achieve this is through the use of an evolutionary robotics (ER) approach, i.e., using evolutionary
algorithms to evolve the robots controllers. Swarm Robotics is a new approach to the
coordination of multi robot systems which consist of large numbers of usually, but not necessarily,
simple physical robots. It is an interesting alternative to classical approaches to robotics because of
some properties of problem solving by social animals, which is flexible, robust, decentralized and
self organized.

Apple Cell Phones
The Major Event, IPhone Boom! And the Launch of Android In 2007, the remote business took
a dramatic turn. While aficionados and non endeavor clients had discovered different uses for
their cell phones than email and work, the primary capacity of such gadgets was keeping
representatives inside of scope and joined far from the work area. Cell phones were principally
utilized for correspondence and light Web searching on the train. That was all set to change
when Apple declared the iPhone in January 2007 and propelled it months after the fact in June.
Apple s concept of the cell phone joined intense sight and sound capacities with the same email
and Web searching components as all different cell phones already had. It had a huge shading
showcase with a capacitive digitizer, and its client interface was at long last finger friendly.
Furthermore, dissimilar to telephones before it, the iPhone had one and only button all over the
Home button and three around its edges, two for volume up/down and one for force/standby.
Apple s versatile working framework, iOS, was still exceptionally fundamental at the time,
however it was the first look into the new, cutting edge portable cell phone working frameworks
we know and love to. This phone release started a transformation of the perception of cellular and
mobile communication, which is maybe best outlined by a quote ascribed to Steve Jobs, CEO of
Apple Inc., that the phone was not just a communication tool but a way of

Solon Vs Solon
What is the underlying mechanism that causes the downfall of leaders and the collapse of
societies? A superstitious individual could attribute these transitions to the gods. Solon, ancient
Athenian poet and political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is
men themselves who cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and
understand the potential dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain
the best possible choice, one must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and
pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to consider this question and a lack of foresight is where
many go wrong. In both Herodotus representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a
wise man who devotes his entire life to his objectives and warns foolish leaders of their
irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the rise and fall of powerful men and great
empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when he says human prosperity never
abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the representations of Solon are in
some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses anecdotes to teach moral lessons,
while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the Athenian oligarchy and proposes
ways to reform Athens. Solon s reformations brought Athens out of an age of treachery and
lawlessness rife with dishonest, unjust and essentially criminal rulers. He

Analysis Of The Poem Bridget Sproul
Society has defined our conception of success and self worth for the longest time. We have
effectively turned into animals, valued solely for our instrumental value. Today in society, those
who do what they love are not valued. Instead those who make the most money (society s
definition of success) are valued. We are no better that simple honeybees, only living to serve the
hive of society and die away from it when we are no longer efficient and profitable. Through the
constant switching of tone as the poem progresses, the extended metaphor of a scout, and the in
your face irony in the pretense of the poem, Bridget Sprouls in SCOUT depicts the inherent lies

In earlier times, scouts were used to survey the positions of enemies or to survey and chart the
frontier. In the end, scouts were used to learn about thing not known before, to go places not gone
before, and most importantly, to pass on this garnered knowledge to others. In the poem, the speaker
is a scout, but not in the common sense. The speaker is a scout for the underbelly if society, a
scout for those who are shunned by society the prostitutes, the thieves, the voiceless and the
homeless. Having experienced and performed all the vices of society, she has in fact scouted
and explored the side of society that society tries to hide. She has sold her body for sustenance:
bartering my eyelashes (10) and stolen from those who have much to sustain herself: Thank
you, bad shot farmers, for all the pecans (11). She has also faced the sad reality of being invisible
to the well to do. Her cries have gone unheard to the point where she would wake to a sweet
melody grinding / like an ice cream summons (13 14). In search for companionship and the want
to share her story with another person, she recognizes grinding (13) as a sweet melody (13). The
juxtaposition of these two opposite words shows the extent to which she has been ignored. She
equates the rustic, and unpleasant sound of grinding (13) to that produced by an ice cream
summons (14). The music of an ice cream truck causes all of us to have hope, the hope of an ice
cream bar or cone, the hope that we can all be happy. The speaker, after being dragged down to the
streets instead if succeeding, reaches out to any sound for hope as it is fleeting in her situation.
This idea that she latches onto the even most obscure sign of hope is demonstrated through her
trying to answer the phone in a forest (15). She is surrounded by the forest (15) or the concrete

Suide in The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost and Dreams of...
Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, and Dreams of Suicide by
William Meredith are the three poems that connect together in several different ways. Not only do
the poems link together, but the authors do as well. This paper will present biographical
information about the authors, symbols throughout the poems, and the literary elements the authors
chose to use in the poems. It will also explain how the symbols and literary elements that are used
help emphasize the themes that the authors have chosen.
Author of the poem Suicide Note, Janice Miriktani was born in 1941 (Bostian). Her writing
journey began in 1965. Janice published her first volume out of four in 1978. Janice, just like
many other writers, had struggles throughout her life. Janice was sexually abused by her family
and was forced to keep it a secret (Bostian). One out of her four volumes of poetry stemmed from
the tragic events that she had faced. It is Shedding Silence: Poetry and Prose, and contains a
total of 35 poems, a short play entitled Shedding Silence, and some short stories (Bostian).
Because Mirikitani sought to break the cycle of violence created by her past that is set by being
silent, her tone is angry and aggressive in most poems. Her family was also involved in World War
II conflicts (Bostian). Since she was Japanese American, she was often mistreated due to the harsh
stereotype thrust upon her during the World War. Deirdre Lashgare says,

Revision of Master Narratives within Jane Eyre and Wide...
To be able to discuss adequately how the master narratives of Bronte and Rhys time are revised,
one must first understand what those master narratives were and what the social mood of the time
was. From there one will be able to discuss how they were revised, and if in fact they were revised
at all.
Bronte is known as one of the first revolutionary and challenging authoress with her text Jane Eyre.
The society of her time was male dominated, women were marginally cast aside and treated as
trophies for their male counterparts. Their main role in life was to be a mother and a wife,

Any sign of deviancy would be punished by the patriarchal system of that time, especially that of a
deviant girl. As the patriarch was entirely male, the oppression of the female gender was swift and
harsh.
At Lowood Jane ultimately has to conform to the rules and regulations of the male domination to
exist and live. Here she becomes a quiet...disciplined and subdued character. This time in Jane s life,
brings up questions and queries into whether Bronte does in fact revise master narratives, which I
will look at later on.
Throughout the course of the text this female character pulls herself up from no social standing
to somebody with a wealthy inheritance, eventually marrying the man she loves under her
conditions, without having to compromise her beliefs or herself. Jane s relationship with
Rochester is a key element of Bronte s revising the master narrative. She of course falls in love
with Rochester whilst she is a member of his staff, she has no independence of her own, whether
that be financial or otherwise. She ends up fleeing Thornfield, for despite her love of Rochester,
she wants to be equal, and knows he ultimately wants to master her. A sign of what a typical
Victorian marriage was like, in which the woman would submit to the man and obey his orders.
Bronte dissects this notion, as Jane does

roles. The ramblings of Hamlet echo through history, and those same sentiments can be felt to
this day. The true comparison lies in how we handle these tribulations. Kafka, Franz, and
Joachim Neugroschel. The Passenger. The Metamorphosis, in the Penal Colony, and Other
Stories: With Two New Stories. 1st Scribner pbk. fiction ed., New York, Simon Schuster, 2000,
pp. 40 41. In Kafka s The Passenger we are presented with an allegorical story about a person on
a trolley car, watching as life passes. In the introduction I stand on the platform of the trolley car
and am completely insecure about my footing in this world in this city, in my family. Nor could
I indicate even casually what demands I might rightfully make in any direction... we have the
entire basis of this short story. Kafka puts to words the feelings of his and his generation,
feelings of being out of place in a rapidly changing world. Shakespeare and Kafka both abided in
time periods that we re seeing social changes occurring. Shakespeare may have used Hamlet to
vocalize his feelings about being out of place in his world. Kafka used his short story The
Passenger to put to words his feelings of displacement and unfamiliarity with the world around
him. Hamlet s To be, or not to be monologue and Kafka s The Passenger show similar feelings of
confusion and disassociation from their specific worlds. Hamlet debates life and death, action vs
inaction, suffering, an inability to choose a direction; Kafka skips the debate and delves directly to
the heart of the issue, a complete insecurity with no direction in the world. Munch, Edvard. Evening

Social Classes In Hinduism And The Caste System
Hinduism reinforces the caste system, which is a division of society into social classes that are
created by birth or occupation and it is a prevalent social system of Hinduism (Molloy 90). Thus,
class and race are both elements affected by the caste system. There are different castes, or social
classes, and there are also subcastes. Despite the castebeing permanent for one s life, it s not to
say that those in lower castes cannot move up to a higher caste. This is where the concept of
rebirth comes into Hinduism, which is the idea that an individual can make certain choices in their
lives, good or bad, and this can affect what caste they will be reborn into. There are five main
social classes in Hinduism, they are as follows: the priest, the warrior noble, the merchant, the
peasant, and the untouchable. Theses classes are known as Brahmins, Kshayriyas, Vaisyas,... Show

The priest performs vedic rituals and acts as a counselor, the warrior noble has the role of
protecting society, and the merchant includes landowners, moneylenders, and sometimes artisans
(Molloy 91). The males within these three upper caste systems are considered twice born. This is
where gender plays a role within the caste system as well. The peasant does manual labor and is
expected to serve the higher castes, while the untouchable is the lowest caste system and is
expected to do the lowest work, such as cleaning toilets, sweeping streets, collecting animal
carcasses, and tanning animal hides (Molloy 91). Thus, it is evident that these two lower caste

Red Line Lab Report
Figure 1: Line graph plotting the mean changes of blood glucose concentrations recorded (mmol/L)
over timed intervals (30 min) spanning the duration of the two hour experiment. As the associated
figure legend indicates, the red line is the resulting change in mean blood glucose concentration in
response to individuals undergoing the GlucoseRest experimental condition. The blue line is a
recording of the mean capacity for individuals to dispose of glucose load when required to
exercise (Glucose Exercise condition). As an extension of the glucose tolerance test, the green line
is a mean plot of how fructose consumption affects blood glucose concentrations. The last
experimental group Glucose Sip and Spit in orange, displays how to consumption or rather lack of
glucose, affects one s ability to dispose of glucose load, hence affecting the blood glucose
concentrations (mmol/L).
Figure 2: Bar graph of the peak changes in blood glucose concentrations(mmol/L) as recorded
between basal and maximum levels for each experimental group. As the associated figure legend
indicates, the red bar shows the peak change between basal and maximum blood glucose
concentrations for when individuals were exposed to the Glucose Rest experimental condition. The

Increased hunger, thirst, blurred vision and lethargy are common symptoms that are synonymous to
the metabolic disease that is diabetes. Unfortunately, there also exists a pre diabetic stage, to which
can often go undiagnosed for years before any clinical symptoms are apparent. Nevertheless, the
glucose tolerance test compares fasting (basal) levels against tests at various random tests.

Symbolism In The Joker
Why is the Joker so concerned with breaking Jim Gordon? There was a line in the comic where
the Joker said, Don t get ee ee even, get mad! I believe that he was trying to make Jim Gordon go
crazy just like himself. First the Joker shot Barbara in from of him, then kidnapped him and began
the torture. He took pictures of Barbara without her clothes and it is assumed that Jokerraped her.
The pictures are shown to Jim and he feels like he didn t his job as a parent but he didn t let his
break him. He powered through all the torture and it made him stronger. In The Jokers life had
much pain in it and he wanted to inflict that same pain on someone else. There was a flashback
scene where The Jokers wife dies in a household accident with his unborn child. At this point in
his life he was going through a rough patch and was in search of a job. He had a lot of stress and
this just set him off the edge, he always felt like he wasn t good enough. Now he is trying to
punish people to make them feel the pain he did when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is symbolic of how they are both chasing after each other and running away from their true
problems. One of them will succeed (get across to the other building), while the other one is too
scared to follow. The one who makes it (most likely Batman since he s usually trying to help) will
offer the light as a symbol of help. So he says that he will shine the light across the buildings to
make a path for the other. The person that is stuck (The Joker) doesn t know how to trust anyone
in society since he is insane so this is when he says, What do you think I am? Crazy? You d turn
it off when I was half way across! This is a rather crazy joke but I do think there is some value to
it. The Joker must know that something is about to happen and he can t trust what Batman is about
to do. The end of the book was very confusing but it made it seem like Batman killed The

How to Improve the Australian Diet
The Australian government is always looking for ways to improve the Australian diet. Ways that
this has been done is through health campaigns. Two campaigns that the government has used and
could work really effectively is Shape up Australia and Measure Up. Both these campaigns are
aimed at Men and Women. The Shape up Australiacampaign effectiveness cannot be judged as the
campaign has not finished but could have a rough guess on how the campaign is going. The
measure up campaign was about allowing people to understand why having excess weight around
your waist can be unhealthy for you. The campaign was proposed to run from 2006 to 2010 but
then was extended to July 2013. As the Measure up campaign was more heard about it was deemed
to be the more effective campaign.
The Measure up campaign was about allowing people to understand why carrying unhealthy
amount of weight around your hips can be dangerous. When people carry unhealthy amounts of
weight around the waist, they might not realise that it also increase the risks of lifestyle related
chronic diseases such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes and arthritis (Australian Institute of Health
and Welfare, 2013). Throughout the campaign it has been proven that the campaign reached the
target audience and got the aim of the campaign and how to stop this. The campaign reached the
vast majority of the Australian population, and had a very high level of campaign recognition with
91% of the people recognized the campaign. The

They were also taught to reject academia and pity the neurotic, unfeminine, unhappy women who wanted to be poets, physicists, or presidents. These women were consuming what was given to them in pop culture. They dyed their hair blonde and ate chalk to lose weight. The dream for women during this time was to be the perfect suburban housewife, which included a good marriage, four children, and nice house in the suburbs. Friedan states that if a woman had a problem, she knew something was wrong with either herself or her marriage. Since no one else discussed their dissatisfaction with their wifely duties, the women who felt this believed they were the only one in this situation and something must be wrong with them. Friedan calls this the problem that has no name because there was a mass number of women feeling this way, but no one could put a name to this condition. Women who had this problem described it as feeling empty and incomplete, as if they didn t exist. Although many women were feeling this way, the media still portrayed women as happy housewives, further reinforcing that no other women were feeling that way. Friedan goes on to say that we can no longer ignore this issue and lists the reasons people had to explain this phenomenon, such as the loss of femininity, too much education, or the demands of domesticity. She refutes these points, and at the end, Friedan says there is more behind the problem that has no name and, again, we can no longer ignore it. In the Barbara Smith reading, she starts out by talking about figuring out a name for her book Home Girls , and how many black people who are threatened by feminism argue that you have left the race and are no longer a part of the black community if you are a feminist. Smith states that black feminism is a natural part of the black experience despite the separation it appears to have from the black community. Black women, Smith says, have been reluctant to identify with the liberation struggle due to a number of reasons, including the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Major Phases Of A Company Growth 9. The three major phases of a company growth are the entrepreneurial phase, the managerial phase and the consolidation phase. First, in the entrepreneurial phase a company focuses on its core activities and on which market paths it should follow. Moreover, in terms of their facility, its policy can be expected to emphasize on its functional needs rather than expending resources on symbolic features. Additionally, there might be some uncertainty regarding the company future and a lack of access to professional knowledge of space management, which may cause overcrowding and badly chosen timing of relocation. Second, during the managerial phase a company still focuses on its fundamental activities. . However, now the company can now adopt workspace layout reflecting hierarchical tendencies. In addition, new problem may occur requiring experts because of special space requirements. Likewise, because of lack of management focus on the distribution of the space, issues related to facilities and support services are dealt irregularly. And third, during the consolidation phase skills in facilities management are available and use more constantly. Dependence on cross functional teams and calculated experimentation with teleworking and other alternative work practices can be expected to imply changes on the layout of the company. Also, companies should consider to exploit the opportunities to introduce facility management procedures. 10. There are several reasons of why a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pros And Cons Of The Volunteer Army Markets are not the best way to achieve a just society. They often allow the wealthy to have more freedoms and greater opportunities. This leads to the poor being disproportionately represented in the military, and the very rich are severely underrepresented in the military. The volunteer army may not be as voluntary as you would think, if taken into consideration the circumstances of the men and women filling the vast majority of the military positions. The men and women filling these positions often come from low to middle income neighborhoods, and join out of economic necessity. While young men and women from upper class backgrounds have opted out of military service. Only 9 students out of Princeton s 2006 class, which had 1,108 students in it, enlisted in the military. There are similar trends to be seen all across America in elite universities and in our capital. Only 2% of Congress have a son or daughter enlisted in the military. Congressman Charles Rangel, a democrat who opposed the Iraq war, believes that the war never would have happened if the children of policymakers had to bear the burden of fighting it. The volunteer army is unfair, because of class discrimination that entices young people to risk their lives for college educations and other benefits. Conscription is the solution to inequalities such as these. Conscription would make it fair among the economic classes, so that everyone would be fairly represented throughout our military. • 6. Farming Is The Nation s Most Important And Noblest... When you think about farming what comes to mind? Do you think about older gentlemen on tractors, or young boys helping there father feed the family herd. Maybe you even think about thousands of acres of corn land in Iowa. Whatever it is I can assure you farming is the nation s most important and noblest profession. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s not necessarily the case, it is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year. In 2012 alone three hundred and seventy four farmers and farmworkers lost there lives due to work related injuries, and every day a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agricultureworkers suffer a work related injury(CDC 2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to farm safety many people are ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment or even removing a safety shield to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in our brains that bad things only happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves, that s not the case. I think that if farmers will take the time to slow down and be more careful and think things through we will cut down drastically on injuries. If you think about it many farmers are constantly stressed, they simply don t have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks at hand so they begin to rush which causes shortcuts to be made which can potentially lead to injury or death. At 46В°C, there is no rate of enzyme activity. The graph presents a direct relationship between the temperature and rate of enzyme activity. The line of best fits shows that as temperature increases, the rate of enzyme activity decreases. Conclusion: If the enzyme is placed in higher temperatures than its optimal temperature, then the rate of enzyme activity will decrease or possibly denature. Not surprisingly, Canada has had a great year winning both the men s world championship and the women s world championship. Kevin played a bit more consistently to earn the right to defend the world title for Canada this year. Maybe some news that may be a bit more surprising is the success of China. Instead, the anticipated tsunami of popular and learned articles collectively assert, inter alia, that John was at once cruel and coercive, treacherous and tyrannical, pusillanimous and pitiful, lazy and lackluster. For the large part it seems that, 800 years later, opinion has broadly backed Matthew Paris, the 13th century chronicler who alleged that John s greatest achievement was, by dying, to make yet more foul the existing foulness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Magna Carta of 1215 (it is important to realise that there were many reissues of Magna Carta after the reign of John, each different to the one presented to John) is better understood as a set of flawed peace terms designed to heal the incipient civil war between John and an element of rebellious barons. In order to try and bind John to their terms, the barons insisted that John accept a committee of 25 of their number empowered to police and enforce Magna Carta by seizing John s castles and assets when he was judged by them, and against criteria put forth by them to have transgressed. No medieval monarch could have accepted for any length of time the Magna Carta of 1215, for it clearly rendered the king a phantom of a monarch. Indeed, so extreme was this impact that it is not beyond sensible contemplation that the ambition of the rebel barons was not to obtain a lasting peace, but instead absolutely to provoke John to break the newly agreed terms so that they could seize his largesse. Charles Schaeffer And Friedrich Nietzsche Essay Introduction Born nearly 70 years apart from each other, Francis Schaeffer and Friedrich Nietzsche were two very important figures in creating the modern philosophy. Two different men that studied two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were almost identical. Nietzsche One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem of morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is because of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to be of value by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as that which is objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral values, it would seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any values in the normative sense (652). In Thus Spake Zarathustra, he claims that to value is to create, and that it is only through valuing that there is value. In the same section it is also claimed that men did not discover values, nor were they given by a god; rather, human beings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, it was very possible for women to have some sexual freedom in the Ancient Greek world, but in order to be respectable, one must not pursue your own sexual wants, but rather remain chaste and a virgin until you were married and bore children. The problem with this is that women were also expected to stay beautiful and sexually attractive, almost to the point of seduction. We see this in the Homeric Hymn, the Hymn to Aphrodite. One of the three beings that Aphrodite cannot seduce is the venerable virgin Hestia, who is wanted by and refuses both Poseidon and Apollo, who in all the temples of the gods she is honored, and among all mortals she is a venerated goddess. There are compelling arguments on both sides from the way some see television as a rich source of information, education, and entertainment, while others blame it for society s violence, obesity, and misinformation. It is an inevitable part of modern culture considering that we depend on TV to keep us updated and informed with news, weather, sports, entertainment, and information. Televisionhas warped and revolutionized the way individuals view themselves and the environment around them by portraying unrealistic stereotypes and trying to appeal to the desired audience. Besides influencing society as a whole, television particularly impacts children and adolescents. It can be a part of a healthy childhood, but too much screen time is not ideal. O Connor, he explains how things haven t changed much in the television business of children s merchandising considering that TV still feeds children pitches for sugary cereals, sweet drinks, fruit flavored candies and blond, blue eyed dolls with fabulous hair and the hottest clothing. For example, on Disney Channel, they showed children drinking sugary, sweet drinks such as Capri Sun. Alice Amsden Summary Alice Amsden was an expert in economic development who focused much of her work on the evolution of East Asian nations from economies relying on agriculture to the development and innovation of industrialization and technology. Amsden uses the example of a nation like South Korea and how they have become one of the strongest economies in the world in recent years. Amsden explains that South Korearealized that instead of capitalizing on its comparative advantage with rice, they learned to invest in technology for the future. Thus, like Japan before them and Taiwan and China after, they developed comparative advantages by investing in learning and innovation. The most educated populations were to be found in Argentina, Chile, Korea, and Taiwan. In 1950 these countries had the highest mean years of schooling (Amsden 239). • 26. Tradition And Modernity In Tsitsi Dangarembga s Nervous... Early African Literature often puzzled the conflict between tradition and modernity. Western knowledge was almost automatically associated with modernity while tradition concerned itself with African cultures and/or histories, the latter often given less value, while Western knowledge was seen as the obvious path to success and advancement in life. In Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi Dangarembgapresents this dichotomic association and exposes its toxicity through her main female characters journeys. In the book, Tambu is plucked from her family with the opportunity of a colonial education and she is aware from the start that these are unique possibilities that will allow her to elevate her status. As the story progresses, the effects of Tambu s dissociation from the homestead start to present themselves and by the end of the novel, the loss of her culture is crippling. Nyasha undergoes a similar process growing up partly in England, away from her extended family and her culture. For Tambu, the harmful association of progress with Western values and culture is revealed through the juxtaposition of the description of her arrival at the mission in the beginning of her story and her arrival at the Sacred Heart at the end of the novel, as well as her reaction to the Christian wedding imposed to her parents by her uncle. For Nyasha, her breakdown at the end of the novel is representative of the toxic dichotomy of modernity and tradition within African literature. The implication ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Preferences include, a preference for economic resources, a preference for industriousness and ambition, a preference for a good physical appearance and health, and also a preference for dependability and stability. Females prefer someone they can invest in and someone that is willing to invest in them also. And they also desire a mate that can physically protect them and their children and that is both healthy and displays compatibility. There are preconditions as too why these preferences have evolved, such as the idea that resources have been made more defensible and accruable and are more controlled by men, and the idea that men would have to be different between each other in their willingness to somewhat invest their resources in both women and their children. They are typically expensive, specialized, and complicated. An alternate approach is to use a swarm composed of a large number of very simple robots that work together, rather than a single highly capable robot. In this approach, the strength of the system comes not from the complexity and power of a piece of hardware, but from the cooperation of a large number of individuals. As the cost of simple robotic components goes down and availability goes up, this approach becomes increasingly feasible. It is currently possible, for example, ... • 39. Solon Vs Solon What is the underlying mechanism that causes the downfall of leaders and the collapse of societies? A superstitious individual could attribute these transitions to the gods. Solon, ancient Athenian poet and political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is men themselves who cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and understand the potential dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain the best possible choice, one must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to consider this question and a lack of foresight is where many go wrong. In both Herodotus representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a wise man who devotes his entire life to his objectives and warns foolish leaders of their irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the rise and fall of powerful men and great empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when he says human prosperity never abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the representations of Solon are in some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses anecdotes to teach moral lessons, while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the Athenian oligarchy and proposes ways to reform Athens. Solon s reformations brought Athens out of an age of treachery and lawlessness rife with dishonest, unjust and essentially criminal rulers. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are no better that simple honeybees, only living to serve the hive of society and die away from it when we are no longer efficient and profitable. The speaker is a scout for the underbelly if society, a scout for those who are shunned by society the prostitutes, the thieves, the voiceless and the homeless. She has sold her body for sustenance: bartering my eyelashes (10) and stolen from those who have much to sustain herself: Thank you, bad shot farmers, for all the pecans (11). She has also faced the sad reality of being invisible to the well to do. Her cries have gone unheard to the point where she would wake to a sweet melody grinding / like an ice cream summons (13 14). In search for companionship and the want to share her story with another person, she recognizes grinding (13) as a sweet melody (13). She equates the rustic, and unpleasant sound of grinding (13) to that produced by an ice cream summons (14). This paper will present biographical information about the authors, symbols throughout the poems, and the literary elements the authors chose to use in the poems. It will also explain how the symbols and literary elements that are used help emphasize the themes that the authors have chosen. Author of the poem Suicide Note, Janice Miriktani was born in 1941 (Bostian). Her writing journey began in 1965. Janice published her first volume out of four in 1978. Janice, just like many other writers, had struggles throughout her life. Janice was sexually abused by her family and was forced to keep it a secret (Bostian). One out of her four volumes of poetry stemmed from the tragic events that she had faced. It is Shedding Silence: Poetry and Prose, and contains a total of 35 poems, a short play entitled Shedding Silence, and some short stories (Bostian). Because Mirikitani sought to break the cycle of violence created by her past that is set by being silent, her tone is angry and aggressive in most poems. • 43. Existential Crisis In Hamlet In Shakespeare s Hamlet, we are presented with a young man torn asunder after the sudden demise of his father. There is a point in the play where Hamlet vocalizes his feelings of displacement and loss within his world. The To be, or not to be monologue plunges the audience into the confused psyche of Hamlet, allowing us to empathize with Hamlet s existential crisis. This window into Hamlet s dilemma strikes the audience, it is relatable in that we all face moments in our lives where we stand back and question our socially and self imposed roles. The ramblings of Hamlet echo through history, and those same sentiments can be felt to this day. The true comparison lies in how we handle these tribulations. Kafka, Franz, and Joachim Neugroschel. The Passenger. The Metamorphosis, in the Penal Colony, and Other Stories: With Two New Stories. 1st Scribner pbk. fiction ed., New York, Simon Schuster, 2000, pp. 40 41. In Kafka s The Passenger we are presented with an allegorical story about a person on a trolley car, watching as life passes. In the introduction I stand on the platform of the trolley car and am completely insecure about my footing in this world in this city, in my family. Nor could I indicate even casually what demands I might rightfully make in any direction... we have the entire basis of this short story. Kafka puts to words the feelings of his and his generation, feelings of being out of place in a rapidly changing world. Shakespeare and Kafka both abided in time periods that we re seeing social changes occurring. Shakespeare may have used Hamlet to vocalize his feelings about being out of place in his world. Kafka used his short story The Passenger to put to words his feelings of displacement and unfamiliarity with the world around him. Hamlet s To be, or not to be monologue and Kafka s The Passenger show similar feelings of confusion and disassociation from their specific worlds.
