Ambiguity In The Scarlet Letter
In the Puritan society the outlandish mindset of the leaders caused more harm than good with the
witch trials in Salem to the events mentioned in The Scarlet Letter. Sin and evil the new world cloud
the vision of the citizens, yet they are two separate actions and have different definitions. Hawthorne
explains the difference between the two in the novel and also shows off his famous skill of
questioning a society s rules, regulations, and social structure. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel
Hawthorne uses his writing style of ambiguity, and ornate word choice to relay his opinion of the
puritan society. Characters, quotes, and symbols give us a snapshot of the time and thoughts on events
and ideas during the era. Hawthorne s characters are a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using such extensive imagery can hide symbols within objects and places.
The three main characters in the novel are Hester Prynne, Roger Chillingworth, and Dimmesdale.
Hester is an adulteress and has a baby named pearl and she is convicted and her punishment is to wear
a scarlet letter a upon her chest and to wear it until her death where it will be marked upon her grave
as well. Her husband who she cheated on was Roger Chillingworth, which was his alias in the new
world. He discovers Hester s ignominy and is set on finding her partner in the crime they committed
against him. Dimmesdale is the man who Hester had an affair, although he is the minister and that is a
huge scandal for the preacher who speaks against infidelity. Hawthorne makes the relationship
acceptable by showing that Hester and Dimmesdale actually love each other opposed to Chillingworth
and Hester s fake love.Chillingworth convinced Hester into marrying him which she never wanted to
do in the first place, he only wished to own someone not love them. Chillingworth can be associated
to evil because of his wish for revenge and torture to Dimmesdale which are considered the worst kind
of sins. Chillingworth is also referred to as a leech which is what

Examples Of Hierarchy Of Apple
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Most of successful organization share a common attribute that
employees play a significant role in business performance. Therefore, even each firm has their
different strategy to motivate their employee, these strategies still mainly focus on the Maslow s
hierarchy of needs. As Apple Inc., a leader in technology industry, has proved the efficiency in their
strategy of worker s encouragement by turning into the most innovative and admired company in the
world. There are many methods Apple employs to motivate its employees. According to Maslow s
theory, low order need should be taken as priority. Apple Inc. fulfills the employees physiological

A Method Of Using Mrf Model
A method of using MRF model in image segmentation
Abstract
Machine vision is a high speed developing field in AI, and image identification is becoming more and
more important with higher and higher requires of AI. As a big part of image identification, it is
abviously necessary to develop better solution in image segmentation, thus machine could identity
objects easier. The division technique for pictures based on Markov Random Field (MRF)
demonstrate ready to combine the contextual information from label pictures and statistical properties
of pictures to be segmented.
In this paper, we start from MRF theory, described the principle and methods of MRF model, and
discussed the advantages of using MRF model in image processing, also concluded researches and
experiences all of the world. And we summarized some types of iterative algorithms of MRF models,
also the features of these algorithms are analyzed and compared. We also did some simulations of
some typical algorithms and the results were compared with traditional methods which demonstrated
that using MRF model could have better performance in segmentation.
Key words: Markov random field, image segmentation, adaptive neighborhood, prior information
Projection description
What is the problem to be addressed?
The specific problem to be addressed is one modified segmentation method using MRF model, the
neighborhood of pixels, this is a little improving in neighborhood model choosing which is really
efficient. As there are

Patent Rights, And Foreign Patent Protection
In the encyclopedia excerpt on the patent it explains what may be patented, obtaining a patent, the
nature of patent rights, and foreign patent protection. To begin, this article describes what maybe
patented. There are three types of patents utility patents, design patents, and plant patents. Each of
these give the inventors ownership of their idea or invention. The utility patent is created for the
usefulness of the invention. The utility patent is the most common patent used. A design patent is how
the invention looks over how it works. Lastly, the plant patent, which is granted to a developer or
discoverer and new variety of plant, reproduced by cuttings, grafting, or other asexual means. All
types of patent are governed under title 35 of the United States codes. Under this code it explains that
all patents are under the patent statues. Getting approval on a patent does not meant that it is a new
invention all the time it could just be an improvement or just a new way of doing something. In
addition, obtaining a patent is a long and challenging process. It takes time to apply for a chance to
submit an application to the examiners. After the application is approved it is then published into the
public. The invention has to be a new or novel invention. Being novel means that it is nonobvious.
Furthermore, the patent holder has 17 years to exclude others from making, using, or selling the
invention throughout the United States. A patentee can give people some rights to the

Winn versus Trans World Airlines
Winn v. Trans World Air
There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be
discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it
was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the
military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for
promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First
Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at
for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what
they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt
confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the
10 made it. He was sure one of the names was his. To his disbelief his name was not on it. He was
very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more
competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it.
With research he found out they had not been in as long or had any special assignments, or leadership
time. This was upsetting to know that the military has to promote based on gender and race. I always
thought and believed a company would want

The Theory Of Natural Selection
A theory discovered by Charles Darwin, and released to the public in 1859, answered many questions
for scientists who weren t able to figure it out. Using the Theory of Natural Selection, he came up with
the Theory of Evolution. In the Evolution theory, it states the genes that allow a species to thrive are
passed down from parent to offspring and it also provides us with an insight of the changes an
organism goes through over time, in which it relies on Natural Selection to do so. Despite doubters
and opposers, there has been lots of evidence to prove it such as Biogeography, Biochemistry, relative
dating, embryology, and homology. Biogeography refers to the distribution of plants and animals,
while biochemistry refers to DNA similarity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to do so, I had to find the opisthocranion opisthion distance and the opisthocranion orale
distance for the bipedalism, the maxillary angle for prognathism, and the height, length, and width of
the skull to find the cranial capacity. The ardipithecus ramidus has an opisthion index of 32, the
australopithecus aethiopicus is 27.3 cm, the australopithecus afarensis is 22.2222 cm, the
australopithecus africanus is 27.58 cm, the australopithecus boisei is 28.12 cm, the homo erectus is
34.5 cm, the homo habilis is 30.8 cm, the homo heidelbergensis is 26.7 cm, the homo neanderthalensis
is 43.75 cm, the homo sapiens are 72.72727272 cm, and the sahelanthropus tchadensis is 23.333 cm.
Based on MY data, all of the tested skulls were bipedal organisms who could walk on two legs. Using
the same order as a while ago, the maxillary angle were 27, 39, 85, 102, 47, 56, 90, 59, 75, 42, and 70
degrees. So out of the fourteen skulls, about 6 of them were prognathic, meaning they have the lower
jaw sticking out. Using the same order as a while ago, the cranial capacity of the skulls were about
622.04, 1,431.13, 850.85, 975.46, 1,884.96, 1,744.64, 964.86, 1,446.45, 1,979.21, 2,243.102, and
942.48cm^3. The skull with the biggest capacity are the homo sapiens, while the ardipithecus ramidus
had the smallest. My data shows how the current human skull has evolved a lot from our ancestors in

the essay Private Language, Public Language , introduces how he was raised and lived as well as how
he felt growing up in the States as an immigrant family. After reading the Rodriguez s essay, there are

Walking down the sidewalk, under the canopy of talk trees, I d warily notice the suddenly silent

who did not have the confidence and felt comfortable in English. In public, my father and mother
spoke hesitant, accented, not always grammatical English (Rodriguez 536). They were not ashamed of
where they came from but because they were well aware of the fact that they did not sound like
gringos. Their voice and the tones were lower compared to when they spoke in Spanish. I was unable
to hear my own sounds, but I know very well that I spoke English poorly (Rodriguez 536). He was
never too embarrassed about how his parents did not speak English fluently because they went about
with their life very well and coped with their issues on their own. However, he could not hide the fact
that he got nervous when he was at presence with his father. Hearing them, I d grow nervous, my
clutching trust in their protection and power weakened (Rodriguez, 537). The very first chance that I

Computer, Robotics, And Automation Are Driving More And...
Computers, robotics, and automation are driving more and more of production. In turn this is leading
to an enormous impact on the number and type of jobs. An Australian report released in June 2015
found that 40 per cent of the Australian workforce or around 5 million jobs are at high risk of being
replaced by computers in the next 10 15 years. This backs up the Oxford Martin School s 2013 study
finding 47 per cent of jobs in the United States are at risk of being automated using artificial
intelligence. We need to move urgently from a discussion about protecting the jobs of today, to
creating the jobs of the future.1 3.2 Commercialisation and innovation There are significant emerging
opportunities and challenges for commercialisation and innovation resulting from technological
changes to becoming a more sustainable, broad based economy: Reducing the tyranny of distance,
boosting trade and creating new business models but also promoting outsourcing of work overseas.
Internationalising labour markets are expanding the skilled labour pool. Developing commercially
functional goods and services from new technologies often takes a lot longer than expected.

constraints for Kiwi companies. Addressing slow uptake of new technology due to redundancy risks or
ease of sticking with the status quo and supporting workforce mobility. Managing business change in

Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Corruption can do many things. It can lead to unstable lifestyles, pollute minds and bring on the
downfall of just about anything or anyone. One of the best examples would be from the story, Dorian
gray by Oscar Wilde. This story showed a young Dorian living his innocent life, only to be surrounded
and influenced by the corrupt society around him and would ultimately lead to his demise. It is not
easy to define corruption as a whole. But to narrow it down, corruption is mainly associated with
bribery and it takes many forms. Corruption has been a part of human society since the earliest times.
Fraud, embezzlement, theft, bribes are all great examples. Corruption has progressively increased and
is now just about everywhere in our society, the evil nature of it will only lead to failure and collapse.
In The Picture of Dorian Gray, The author Oscar Wilde demonstrates the corruption of youth by taking
the initial innocence of Dorian and turning his values completely immoral under the control of Lord
Henry, Dorians friend mainly through the use of symbolism. Even though he looks as youthful and
innocent his portrait reveals his truly aging and corrupt soul, this and failure in Dorian not taking
responsibility for any of his own actions is what ultimately drives him insane and leads to his death.
Dorian s transition from an innocent character to a degraded and corrupted being can be shown by the
author s use of showing his true color. It demonstrates the pureness of Dorian s

Magical realism is a type of literature that encompasses a range of different concepts while blending in
magical elements into the the rational world.Three major books that are apart of the magical realism
genre are Like water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, Green Angel by Alice Hoffman, and 100 years
of solitude by Gabriel Garcia. Many patterns seen across all three of these books are magical
elements, symbolism, and metaphors. Like water for chocolate and 100 years of solitude both revolve
around the theme of tradition and maintaining culture. The novel Green Angel emphasizes the theme
of isolation. Magical realism portrays magical elements while being able able to blend into a real

Analysis Of In The Next Room Or The Vibrator Play
The Ohio University Theater Division s production of In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play
explored the use of vibration therapy in the early 20th century as a way to cure hysteria. The
playwright Sarah Ruhl beautifully uses the intertwining lives lives of a doctor his patients and his wife
to examine female sexuality, male incompetence, science, marriage, and love. Most of the plot has to
do with female and male patients being treated for hysteria and what outcome the vibrator has on the
lives of the characters in medical and domestic ways. This play really highlights the personal
discovery of sexuality and of women beginning to achieve marital sex that isn t only for their husband
s pleasure. This production of the vibrator play used the contrast of a parlor and a doctor s laboratory
on a rotating set to help the audience understand the constant blend of science and society in a
historical setting.
The rotating set was a unique challenge for this production and while it was a bit distracting at times it
did add a lot to the quality of the production as a whole. There are many instances where the focus
should be on one of the rooms and not the other and to help achieve this very specific blocking is
implemented. For example, there is a scene in the first act where Mrs. Givings sits in the parlor and
hears Mrs. Daldry s moans for the first time as she is being treated in the laboratory. The focus of the
scene is on Mrs. Givings s reaction to the moaning and the flickering

Marine Engineer Was Robert Fulton
Ships have been around for thousands of years, we used them to conquer other countries, to transport
food and people, and for our enjoyment. Every ship that has been made, was unique. The Vikings
made ships in different sizes, shapes, and made out of different types of wood. Ships have evolved
from a huge row boat, to a steam boat, to a huge engine and with lots of little changes in between. We
always need someone to make sure that those ships are running perfect and that it will make it home
safe. Those people that work in the ships are called Marine Engineers they are the ones that make sure
the ships will make it home. One very important marine engineer was Robert Fulton he was the person
who created the steam boat and first to try and put an engine on a boat. Even though we have been
making bigger and better ships we still look back at the older ships and how the Marine Engineering
began and how our ships have changed.
Boats were made before 4000 BC but most of these boats were rafts, logs of bamboo, bundles of
reeds, air filled animal skins tied together to float down the river or any little body of water. The first
boat was a hallowed out log that was like a canoe. That was estimated to be made around 8000 BC.
The sail boat was made around 4000 BC it was made out little logs tied together with intestine and
leaves. They made a sail out of reeds, this boat was called the Egyptian reed boats. By 2500 BC the
Egyptians started to make ships bigger and out of wood that

Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and conflict. Though
this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely and utterly accurate. In society,
people run into all sorts of oppositions without realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk
into a darkened room and flip on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and
dark . These examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and cold
water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these types of oppositions
seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist these distinct concepts are imperative in
deconstructing a text. When people describe deconstructing a text, they are referring to the
postmodern deconstructionism which focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship
they share. When referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be
found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice Walker s Everyday
Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on lifestyle and heritage differences
displayed between the main characters. Though one can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting
the two binary aspects of a traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent,
modern, yet forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can

Overcoming Obstacles In Rocky Balboa s Life
The movie Rocky is based on a boxer who has overcome tough times in his life but works for
everything he has and loves. Sylvester Stallone wrote and produced every Rocky movie and also
played the main character in the films. In almost every Rocky movie, Rocky Balboa faces a big
opponent in the ring. Balboa must train hard and overcome the situation and challenges before the
fight. Balboa then steps in the ring and gives his all for the win. Rocky has inspired me to never give
up and fight for the dreams you set your mind to. Balboa has a different system of training for each
fighter in the movies. In each fight he must study the opponent and attain the skills necessary to
dominate the fight. Throughout training he faces obstacles of doubt and uncertainty on how he could
possibly overcome such an opponent. After being broken down to the feeling he could never train
enough to win this fight he finds his moment that lifts him up and gives him the determination to
overcome. As in life, many of us will face scary challenges that we may doubt and be scared. But, like
balboa we find our path and step up to the plate. We study how to better ourselves and prevail the
challenge we face. Our minds take us to a place that we feel we could never return from, and we must

to create a simple strategic plan outline to be used to guide us on a personal project. According to the

This entails the development of a process by which projects are selected based on their relevance to
the strategic plan (Wideman, 1999). This of course is much easier said then done. However after

Who will do the work? Are there any building permits that are needed? What do you do with the old
fence marital? Are there any government programs that can be used to assist in paying for this project?
Which way is the smooth side of the fence going to face? Yes, there are a lot of questions that must be
answered and a great deal to think about so let s get started with the obvious... talking to the neighbor.
After doing some basic cost analysis, (cost of supplies, workers vs. self instillation, and time) a
tentative agreement was reached to share the cost and a work assignment was reached. One member of
this new team will price the materials, call for building permit information, and inquire into pre
packaged fence designs that may be at this fledgling team s disposal. The other member of this team
will inquire about government programs that may be available, cost of workers, and old fence material
disposal information. Normally, when creating a project there is a structured formula that a project
manager will use through each stage of the project. From the project intention stage, to getting the

Impact Of Climate Change On The Environment
Introduction: Climate change is an issue that is currently threatening the entire world, it is occurring as
a result of human activity intensifying the greenhouse effect and concentration of carbon dioxide in
the atmosphere, resulting in negative changes to the global climate (Lohmann, 2002). Tourism is
particularly vulnerable to the direct and indirect impacts of climate change as the climate influences
the appeal, attractiveness and suitability of a destination (Rutty Scott, 2014). Moore (2010) states that
the impact of the climate can be physical, physiological and psychological, and it also threatens
economic, environmental and social sustainability (Moreno Becken, 2009). Coastal tourism is the
largest component of the global tourism industry with hundreds of millions of people visiting coasts
and participating in marine activities (Moreno Becken, 2009). More than 60% of Europeans choose
beach holidays and 80% of US tourism revenue is generated by beach tourism (IPCC, 2014). Coastal
tourism is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and faces more serious challenges
than inland operations (Hyman, 2014). The following report will discuss the potential impacts climate
change will have on beach resorts; including extreme weather and global temperature rise, sea level
rise and coastal erosion, coral bleaching, an increase in natural disasters AND MORE. Rising Sea

The Product Of The Oreo Product
Q1)
Ans) Oreo has an incredible website which includes every single detail of their product and also about
their upcoming products. For example: they have a wide variety of products which are organized
perfectly and can be easily accessed. The information about the product s ingredients and their calories
are listed nicely. In Facebook oreo is considered as a smart cookie and also a smart way of marketing
the oreo product by the means of social media. In Twitter Oreo started advertising their different sort
of products like designing their own packs of Oreo s and linking that to the shopping site.
Pricing of the oreo product s reasonably attract s the customer s in the market. It is one important
value proposition.
Production and supply of products to the stores.
Making available everywhere by the means advertising.
Taste and quality of the oreo product s and their stylish packing is also one among their major value
propositions. Value proposition consistent across all communication vehicles because as I see official
twitter or Facebook pages how perfectly they articulated their intention in providing a quality oriented
product s with affordable prices. It is important because the product can grow initially in the market
only by means of social media and advertising. A standard value proposition and best use of
communication vehicles will lead the product at a higher position in the market. Q2) Ans) Oreo thins

The Silence And Serenity Of The St. Joseph s Abbey Property
From the moment that I stepped out of the car and onto the St. Joseph s Abbey property I noted that
there was a silence, which was peaceful and unusual for me. The dichotomy between the loud sounds
of students walking out of Hogan and cars speeding by at Holy Cross and the silence of the monastery
apart from our group of students conversing with one another was particularly striking. This really
surprised me because it was unusual for me to be in such a calm and silent place and I instantly felt a
feeling of peace come over me. I think that this silence and serenity is indicative of a simpler and
purer life in which one is able to block out all the distractions of the world around them and focus on
their connection with God, which is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reminded me of the humility and simplicity that governs monks lives and was outlined in the
Rule of Saint Benedict. Also, as we entered the church I noted that the seats faced each other, which I
thought was different from my own Catholic church where the pews face the front of the church. The
striking of the bells in the bell tower prompted the monks and other visitors to enter the church. The
order of the service consisted of readings from various scriptures. The first part of the prayer consisted
of the readings of the introductory verse, followed by the hymn of the Office of Holy Virgins, Psalm
134, Canticle: Christ the Image of God, the Magnificat Antiphon, the Canticle of Mary, and finally the
Commemoration of the Blessed Virgin. Prior to entering the church for the service, Brother Francis
pointed out that Cistercian monasticism s prayer service was highly influenced by Gregorian chants.
Accordingly, the service consisted of a Gregorian chant like singing and the monks often stressed
syllables for long periods of time, which made it initially difficult to follow. Moreover, the chanting of
the prayers was accompanied by one of the monks playing an organ in a very repetitive pattern
consisting of only several notes. During the service there was a constant transition between standing
and sitting which occurred during the first reading and

Stanley Kubrick s The Shining
Although the movie I have chosen to argue as the greatest film of all time to me is not currently on
AFI s top 100 films. It is considered as one of the greatest horror films of all time. Stanley Kubrick is
one of the most talented filmmaker s in history. He has made several great movies and his vision
stands out. He is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential directors of all time. His films are
noted for their unique cinematography, attention to detail in realism. Kubrick was also known for
being a demanding perfectionist, using painstaking care with scene staging, camera work and working
closely with his actors.

The Shining pushed the camera s uses even further, Stanley Kubrick made use of the camera to shoot
a scene barely above the floor. The inventor of the Steadicam, Garrett Brown was quoted saying that
One of the most talked about shots in the picture is the eerie tracking sequence which follows Danny
as he pedals at high speed through corridor after corridor on his plastic Big Wheel tricycle. The
soundtrack explodes with noise when the wheel is on wooden flooring and is abruptly silent as it
crosses over carpet. We needed to have the lens just a few inches from the floor and to travel rapidly
just behind or ahead of the bike . There are many examples of innovative camera shots and the
Steadicam was used in the maze scene as well.
Kubrick put so much effort into making this film it s incredible. It was originally supposed to be shot
in 17 weeks but ended up taking 46 weeks. This film to me is one of the best examples of mise en
scene I have ever seen. Which help express this film s story by making a sense of time and space,
setting a mood, and showing a character s state of mind. Kubrick artfully directed the positioning and

The Titanic s Tragic End
The Titanic The orchestra belonging to the first cabin assembled on deck as the liner was going down
and played Nearer My God to Thee. Miss C. Bounnell, first class survivor (Deitz). The Titanic wined
and dined the elite in all of its extravagance, but soon came to a tragic end with its mysterious sinking.
The ship was proclaimed to be unsinkable and that no known accident of the sea could ever sink the
ship; however, we all know that was proven wrong (SV; CA, SV.). Life on the ship was nothing short
of spectacular with the most expensive ticket costing $4,350, around $100,000 today ( Titanic ).
Everything with the ship was smooth sailing until the one fateful night in April. This event helped lead
to more changes and better technology for ships. Life on the Titanic was marvelous and exquisite;
most of the wealthiest people in the world were among those on board the Titanic (SV; SV.). Built in
Belfast, Ireland, in 1909, the Titanic, said to be as long as four city blocks , was loaded with amenities
such as pools and elegant features like supreme wood and extravagant chandeliers (Deitz; Goodman).
The ship was a whopping 882.5 feet long, about the length of three football fields, 92.5 feet wide,
about 11 stories tall with its smokestacks, and carried 2,200 passengers (Rattini). Because of the
Titanic s extravagance, the wealthy people were favored and treated with the utmost respect. The rich
lived on the upper deck while the middle and lower class slept on the

Database Management Systems and the Growth of the Internet...
Recent inventions and technical advancements have changed the appearance and indeed, the entire
capability of the internet as most people know it. Many events have contributed to this change, but
none so much as the processing method known as Database Management Systems (DBMS). From its
birth in the last century, the way computers process information has grown and expanded to a point
that would have been hard to imagine for the early programmers. This growth actually spurred on the
growth of the telecommunications industry. Carrier systems have grown with the advancing march of
computers in general, but the huge amount of data required by DBMS created a need for massive
carrier capability and the birth of what we call the internet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With guidance from Watson, the concept of a database was created during the 1920 s. IBM and DBMS
was literally born out of a spark flamed on by the Bell system (Newton, 2004).
About 1930, the Bell System started the data communication revolution by testing various carrier
system technologies and releasing a remote calculation device known as the Complex Number
Calculator (CHMT, n.d.). While the initial transmissions only carried numeric data, development of
alpha numeric coding would open the door to the carrier systems advancements. Clearer circuits were
required to allow error free service to the new computing systems. While the Bell System advanced
the carrier capability, the data itself became increasingly complex as well. In the early years, the
circuits were simple dialed telephone circuits that eventually graduated to dedicated or non switched
connections that let the machines interact directly. Claude Shannon s paper The Mathematical Theory
of Communications showed engineers how to code data so they could check for accuracy after
transmission between computers. Shannon identified the bit as the fundamental unit of data and,
coincidentally, the basic unit of computation (Shannon, 1948).
The database science grew in leaps and bounds, from the early file systems, to hierarchical and
networked architectures, to the first relational style systems like IBM s

Emotion socialization and child physiology predict Early Prosocial Development
The study was done to show the effects of intrapersonal maternal or being shaped by your mother, and
intrinsic physiological regulation or emotional self regulation on the development of early prosocial
development.(Scrimgeour, Buss, Davis, 2015, p.102) The participants of the study were (125) 2 year
old children 65 of them being female and their parents which averaged in age to be 32.49 years of age.
Only one of the participant s fathers participated in the study so they were all considered mothers for
the purpose of the study. The majority of the children were non Hispanic(90.4%) as well as the parents
(92.8) who participated (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Chamberland, Lacharite, Clement, Lessard , 2015, p.1) The requirements for the participants of this
study was that they had to be less than 9 years of age and exposed to multiple risk factors for child
maltreatment, These risk factors included behavior problems, victimisation, and general family
dysfunction. A total of 81 children baseline and 73 children at post test were from child preventive
services. In contrast 88 were from child protective services. (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, p.3) The average
age of the children who participated were 50 months of age. Approximately one half of the families
were single parent families, more than a third of the families had 3 or more children and nearly six out
of ten responded having education less than ninth grade. The data collection for the experiment was
done in two parts, Time one before or during the intervention, and Time two after the intervention.
Two researchers assisted in meeting with each of the families, one met with the parents and made
observations and an interview. While the other used assessment tools with the children. The results
showed a strong correlation in both Time one and two with low parental stress, and low child abuse
potential for socioemotional development. The last variable however good quality of home
environment, only correlated with Time one. Cognitive/language development had a positive
correlation in both Time one and two. (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, p.6) The study did a great job in
showing potential correlations in households where children might be at risk for hindered
development. It is unknown how applicable the results since the ethnic demographic wasn t given and
might influence the results through cultural differences, As a whole though it seems reliable.

Analysis Of The Toy Industry, Making The Threat Of New...
Analysis External Threat of New Entrants
There are many barriers to new organizations in the toy industry, making the threat of new entrants
low. Lego and other big toy companies like Mattel benefit from economies of scale. An economy of
scale is achieved by lower costs through large volume production (Textbook glossary). Economies of
scale can occur in many departments within the organization including production, marketing,
research and development, and finance. Some manufacturing of Lego products was shifted to Central
Europe and Mexico in order to benefit from lower wages and to shorten product supply chains (p. 13
of case). The management of Lego additionally holds expertise on production, distribution and
customer needs; which are absent in a new organization. To enter the toy sector a potential entrant
needs to calculate the start of production at a level that will give a competitive position and production
costs lower than the market.
The high brand equity of Lego and other well established organizations offer another disadvantage to
new entrants. Collaborations with the film industry helped Lego sustain market share and increase
sales volume in the toy industry through franchise agreements on Harry Potter and Star Wars. Rivalry
among existing Firms
The competitive rivalry in the toy industry is intense. Organizations try to sell through their own
retailers and online instead of solely through other retailers. Flexibility and responsiveness to the
market are

Rna Interference ( Rnai )
Introduction RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological process where a double stranded RNA (dsRNA)
activates the degradation of the sequence dependent RNA target cell, causing a posttranscrip tional
gene silencing mechanism or inhibition of cellular gene expression. 1 This mechanism was first
discovered in Caenorhabditis elegans in 1998 by Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello, where they
observed that the introduction of the dsRNA in the animal cell resulted in an inhibition expression of
the homologous gene, and this phenomenon opened new possibilities on modulat ing gene sequences
in the medical industry. 2 However, there are some major setbacks with the ongoing research of this
siRNA molecules as therapeutic applications, including a possibility of silencing the healthy genes
other than the target ones when the siRNA binds to the complementary mRNA strand. There are also
some studies that have shown that with the application of the siRNA as a drug, it produces some
unwanted side effects where it could be lethal if there s an overdose or can cause immunity to the
siRNA, leading to the question: is siRNA as a form of a drug for medicinal purposes actually safe?
Mechanism of the RNAi in action
The RNAi mechanism (Figure 1) is triggered with the introduction of the small interfering RNA
(siRNA) molecules via enzyme (Dicer) breakdown of the double stranded RNA (dsRNA), following
an incorporation of these siRNA into an RNA induced silencing complex (RISC). When the siRNA is

Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos
Ethos, pathos and logos influence every part of our lives from the time we wake up to the moment we
fall asleep. These three advertising tactics are also the pillars of political speeches and other rhetorical
media. In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, ethos, pathos and logos are
used to persuade many of the characters views on the conspirators plot and Caesar s subsequent death.
My independent speech, Tear Down this Wall, was given by Ronald Reagan on June 12, 1987 in
Berlin, Germany. This speech was given during the Cold War, which separated the Democratic from
Communist countries. Reagan s objective was to convince Mr. Gorbachev, the leader of Communist
Soviet Union to tear down the wall separating East and West Berlin. Both of these texts use ethos,

This is one of the most notable uses of rhetoric in Tear Down This Wall. Reagan states,t [that he] finds
in Berlin a message of hope, even in the shadow of this wall, a message of triumph . This quote is a
powerful example of pathos because it validated the dreams of so many people, the hope for freedom.
The wall itself not only was a military boundary, but it also separated families and friends. Reagan s
use of pathos was so powerful in this speech because of the hate and oppression the wall symbolized
for so many years. TRANSITION In Marc Antony s funeral speech he calls Caesar s stab wounds the
unkindest cut of them all. In this line he creates an emotional connection with the crowd. Through that
connection he is able to impart a feeling of distrust towards Brutus, furthering the crowds agreement
with his argument. Reagan uses a similar tactic in his speech, several times he addresses specific
groups of people in German. By speaking to the people in their native language Reagan wanted to
show that he respects their culture and is willing to spend time

Humanity lives in an age of new and exciting technologies that enables people to improve their
writing skills and enhance their reading abilities. This digital age where communication is instant and
knowledge is just a Google search away has mean that language has had to evolve and change with
the times. The digitalisation of books in inventions such as an e book reader, the rise of new
technologies such as mobile phones with their use of emoticons, the use of the internet in the
development of the English language through communication on social media, and the use of spell

Abbreviations, acronyms and emoticons have all been put into use through billions of text messages.
The one hundred and sixty character limit has meant that proper spelling and grammar has to give way
to a more practical form of communicating. Daily Mail columnist John Humphrys in his article I H8
txt messages: How English is ruing our language thinks that people who text are doing what Genghis
Khan did to his neighbours eight hundred years ago. (Humphrys 2007). However, as author Henry
Hitchings in his book A History of Proper English (Hitchings 2011) points out the comparison ...is not
the same in fact or in spirit.... (Hitchings 2011 p 296) as people who text know the difference between
writing for schoolwork and writing for their friends (p. 296). Although mobile messaging may be
crude compared to the more civilised form of English, it still has some benefits. For example the
asterisk symbol has been used as a way of correcting mistakes (Collister 2015). It is a way to avoid a
conversational detour. (Collister 2015). People can use the asterisk symbol instead of wasting precious
time trying to fix their mistake. The asterisk symbol, adopted by the technologically minded (Collister
2015), is a great and quick way of fixing mistakes but still maintaining that flow of conversation. An
emoticon can also help to ...add meaning to a message or express meaning all on their own. (Collister
2015). People can use emoticons to express a range of emotions from happiness to anger and people
will be able to understand what they mean. The invention of mobile phones, through the use of
symbols and emoticons to express emotions or fix mistakes, have helped language to evolve, and
thereby improving writing and reading skills through the promotion of flexibility, by ensuring that not
all communications is just through

Why I Become A Naturopathic Physician
I want to become a Naturopathic Physician because I wish to help people choose how to be healthy.
Growing up, I dealt with several health problems, one of which I was able to manage with ibuprofen,
but I desired a solution instead of a temporary fix. As a result, I sought the help of my conventional
physician. Instead of working to discover the root of the problem, she simply prescribed a stronger
pain reliever. I then turned to a Naturopathic Physician, because many of my friends were suggesting
that I look into that profession. Thankfully, my Naturopathic Physician and I discovered that daily
supplements would control my major health problem, and we found solutions to my more trivial
problems. The experience taught me that when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a young age, I wanted to be a conventional physician, but as I grew older, I became more
disillusioned with our current medical system. As I became more disillusioned, I was more drawn to
the naturopathic field and the opportunities it presented to treat problems naturally. In addition, I felt
that the naturopathic field offered more personalized care to the patient as they struggled with their
different health problems. The way that conventional medicine practices tries to treat as many patients
as possible in the shortest amount of time. The field seems not to respect the patient as a person, and I
feel like every person should experience a favorable level of respect when interacting with medical
professionals. In addition, I feel that patients should know that their doctor cares for them and their
health, and that is difficult to convey in a 15 minute appointment, especially when compared with a 45
minute appointment. As a Naturopathic Physician, I feel that I will be able to provide my patients with
the care that they deserve.
The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Program at National vigorously prepares students for life as

The Practice Of Music And Enables Artists And Guest Curators
Preface Introduction
Have you ever rushed around Newcastle, totally preoccupied with the hectic hustle and bustle of city
life? Passersby are often too busy or late for something to really take in their surroundings. The
practice of busking has given Newcastle a soundtrack, a musical backdrop to the chaos of city life.
However, street performers are often restricted to limited areas in order to oblige the regulations set
out by the council.
This book introduces the aim of the project whereas to promote the practice of music and enables
artists and guest curators to explore their creativity while participating and engaging with music. A
platform provided to become the mass populist entertainment for the population.

The lack of interesting places for concert has affected people to have less interest in visiting music
spaces and there should be a suitable one for the use, enjoyment and also benefit the people of this
vibrant city.
It may not be the ultimate music space, but the premise of this project is to unite musicians with
supported facilities and give them the opportunity to promote their own music. Audiences will be
offered with a fully immersive ambience and a complete program of professional cultural
entertainment.
The book will demonstrate the intention of creating the music hall through its position first and
foremost as an entertainment, and secondly as a cultural presence that is increasingly seen as a key
element in regeneration plans.3
Nature of Subject / Topics
A lot of people s perception of buskers is both brutally frank and ironic despite this artistic practice
has always been as part of the contribution to this culture. They are far less appreciative of these
performances that are carried out with a genre which they could never normally encounter. In
consideration of the addressed matter, the music hall services as a stage that nurtures homegrown
talent and accommodates wandering players.
Given a few successful real life examples showing that there are indeed some of the world s most
famous artists started as street performers, from

Criticism Of Media Convergence
Media convergence in the digital era constructs a global flat earth , allowing for interaction of old and
new mediums across various media platforms. Technology has become an increasingly dominant
means of communication as it allows for information to be stored and shared across great distances.
Flew (2005) suggests that this globalisation permissible through digital and online communication has
effected cultural change. Individuals can communicate from any part of the world, irrespective of
physical and geographic barriers via an interactive digital media environment across networked ICT
Devices. Thus he suggests that new media is synonymous with digital media and therein digitisation

Kindle s remediate books but improve certain features, inclusive of altering typography style and size,
offering highlighting tools, built in dictionaries and allowing the reader to purchase new books
through the device (Hitt 2013). Since its introduction in 2007, approximately 43.7 million Kindle e
readers have been sold as of late 2014 (Trefis Team 2014). The Kindle does not seek to replace
physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information on small,
portable physical spaces. This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats altogether;
on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate.
One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted the
incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto 2015, pp.
4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact across different
media forms and platforms. Jenkins asserts that new media technologies enabled the same content to
flow through many different channels and assume many different forms (2006, pg. 10). Acland (2007)
echoes this sentiment, reiterating that new digital media refashion old media formats. Vogue is a

Ambiguity In The Scarlet Letter In the Puritan society the outlandish mindset of the leaders caused more harm than good with the witch trials in Salem to the events mentioned in The Scarlet Letter. Sin and evil the new world cloud the vision of the citizens, yet they are two separate actions and have different definitions. Hawthorne explains the difference between the two in the novel and also shows off his famous skill of questioning a society s rules, regulations, and social structure. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses his writing style of ambiguity, and ornate word choice to relay his opinion of the puritan society. A Method Of Using Mrf Model A method of using MRF model in image segmentation Abstract Machine vision is a high speed developing field in AI, and image identification is becoming more and more important with higher and higher requires of AI. As a big part of image identification, it is abviously necessary to develop better solution in image segmentation, thus machine could identity objects easier. The division technique for pictures based on Markov Random Field (MRF) demonstrate ready to combine the contextual information from label pictures and statistical properties of pictures to be segmented. In this paper, we start from MRF theory, described the principle and methods of MRF model, and discussed the advantages of using MRF model in image processing, also concluded researches and experiences all of the world. And we summarized some types of iterative algorithms of MRF models, also the features of these algorithms are analyzed and compared. We also did some simulations of some typical algorithms and the results were compared with traditional methods which demonstrated that using MRF model could have better performance in segmentation. Key words: Markov random field, image segmentation, adaptive neighborhood, prior information Projection description What is the problem to be addressed? The specific problem to be addressed is one modified segmentation method using MRF model, the neighborhood of pixels, this is a little improving in neighborhood model choosing which is really efficient. Patent Rights, And Foreign Patent Protection In the encyclopedia excerpt on the patent it explains what may be patented, obtaining a patent, the nature of patent rights, and foreign patent protection. To begin, this article describes what maybe patented. There are three types of patents utility patents, design patents, and plant patents. Each of these give the inventors ownership of their idea or invention. The utility patent is created for the usefulness of the invention. The utility patent is the most common patent used. A design patent is how the invention looks over how it works. Lastly, the plant patent, which is granted to a developer or discoverer and new variety of plant, reproduced by cuttings, grafting, or other asexual means. All types of patent are governed under title 35 of the United States codes. Under this code it explains that all patents are under the patent statues. Getting approval on a patent does not meant that it is a new invention all the time it could just be an improvement or just a new way of doing something. In addition, obtaining a patent is a long and challenging process. It takes time to apply for a chance to submit an application to the examiners. After the application is approved it is then published into the public. The invention has to be a new or novel invention. Being novel means that it is nonobvious. Furthermore, the patent holder has 17 years to exclude others from making, using, or selling the invention throughout the United States. A patentee can give people some rights to the ... • 6. Winn versus Trans World Airlines Winn v. Trans World Air There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the 10 made it. He was sure one of the names was his. To his disbelief his name was not on it. He was very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it. With research he found out they had not been in as long or had any special assignments, or leadership time. This was upsetting to know that the military has to promote based on gender and race. I always thought and believed a company would want ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In turn this is leading to an enormous impact on the number and type of jobs. An Australian report released in June 2015 found that 40 per cent of the Australian workforce or around 5 million jobs are at high risk of being replaced by computers in the next 10 15 years. This backs up the Oxford Martin School s 2013 study finding 47 per cent of jobs in the United States are at risk of being automated using artificial intelligence. We need to move urgently from a discussion about protecting the jobs of today, to creating the jobs of the future.1 3.2 Commercialisation and innovation There are significant emerging opportunities and challenges for commercialisation and innovation resulting from technological changes to becoming a more sustainable, broad based economy: Reducing the tyranny of distance, boosting trade and creating new business models but also promoting outsourcing of work overseas. One of the best examples would be from the story, Dorian gray by Oscar Wilde. This story showed a young Dorian living his innocent life, only to be surrounded and influenced by the corrupt society around him and would ultimately lead to his demise. It is not easy to define corruption as a whole. But to narrow it down, corruption is mainly associated with bribery and it takes many forms. Corruption has been a part of human society since the earliest times. Fraud, embezzlement, theft, bribes are all great examples. Corruption has progressively increased and is now just about everywhere in our society, the evil nature of it will only lead to failure and collapse. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, The author Oscar Wilde demonstrates the corruption of youth by taking the initial innocence of Dorian and turning his values completely immoral under the control of Lord Henry, Dorians friend mainly through the use of symbolism. Even though he looks as youthful and innocent his portrait reveals his truly aging and corrupt soul, this and failure in Dorian not taking responsibility for any of his own actions is what ultimately drives him insane and leads to his death. • 17. Analysis Of In The Next Room Or The Vibrator Play The Ohio University Theater Division s production of In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play explored the use of vibration therapy in the early 20th century as a way to cure hysteria. The playwright Sarah Ruhl beautifully uses the intertwining lives lives of a doctor his patients and his wife to examine female sexuality, male incompetence, science, marriage, and love. Most of the plot has to do with female and male patients being treated for hysteria and what outcome the vibrator has on the lives of the characters in medical and domestic ways. This play really highlights the personal discovery of sexuality and of women beginning to achieve marital sex that isn t only for their husband s pleasure. This production of the vibrator play used the contrast of a parlor and a doctor s laboratory on a rotating set to help the audience understand the constant blend of science and society in a historical setting. The rotating set was a unique challenge for this production and while it was a bit distracting at times it did add a lot to the quality of the production as a whole. There are many instances where the focus should be on one of the rooms and not the other and to help achieve this very specific blocking is implemented. For example, there is a scene in the first act where Mrs. Givings sits in the parlor and hears Mrs. Daldry s moans for the first time as she is being treated in the laboratory. The focus of the scene is on Mrs. Givings s reaction to the moaning and the flickering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Marine Engineer Was Robert Fulton Ships have been around for thousands of years, we used them to conquer other countries, to transport food and people, and for our enjoyment. Every ship that has been made, was unique. The Vikings made ships in different sizes, shapes, and made out of different types of wood. Ships have evolved from a huge row boat, to a steam boat, to a huge engine and with lots of little changes in between. We always need someone to make sure that those ships are running perfect and that it will make it home safe. Those people that work in the ships are called Marine Engineers they are the ones that make sure the ships will make it home. One very important marine engineer was Robert Fulton he was the person who created the steam boat and first to try and put an engine on a boat. Even though we have been making bigger and better ships we still look back at the older ships and how the Marine Engineering began and how our ships have changed. Boats were made before 4000 BC but most of these boats were rafts, logs of bamboo, bundles of reeds, air filled animal skins tied together to float down the river or any little body of water. The first boat was a hallowed out log that was like a canoe. That was estimated to be made around 8000 BC. The sail boat was made around 4000 BC it was made out little logs tied together with intestine and leaves. They made a sail out of reeds, this boat was called the Egyptian reed boats. • 19. Postmodern Deconstructionism In Alice Walker s Everyday Use No matter what age or generation, people live in a world filled with opposition and conflict. Though this sounds harsh and unforgiving, this description is completely and utterly accurate. In society, people run into all sorts of oppositions without realizing it at all. For example, a person could walk into a darkened room and flip on the light without stopping to ponder the conflict between light and dark . These examples in our daily lives drones on and on from the difference between hot and cold water to the difference between your phone when it is on or off. Though these types of oppositions seem mundane to the average person, to a deconstructionist these distinct concepts are imperative in deconstructing a text. When people describe deconstructing a text, they are referring to the postmodern deconstructionism which focuses mainly on these oppositions and the type of relationship they share. When referring to these oppositions, a deconstructionist uses the word binary which can be found in literature of all types and through all sorts of literary interpretations. Alice Walker s Everyday Use is no exception to this concept with its story focusing on lifestyle and heritage differences displayed between the main characters. Though one can interpret Everyday Use as a story presenting the two binary aspects of a traditional, heritage based, yet impoverished lifestyle and an affluent, modern, yet forward thinking lifestyle as completely opposing concepts, one can ... Impact Of Climate Change On The Environment Introduction: Climate change is an issue that is currently threatening the entire world, it is occurring as a result of human activity intensifying the greenhouse effect and concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, resulting in negative changes to the global climate (Lohmann, 2002). Tourism is particularly vulnerable to the direct and indirect impacts of climate change as the climate influences the appeal, attractiveness and suitability of a destination (Rutty Scott, 2014). Moore (2010) states that the impact of the climate can be physical, physiological and psychological, and it also threatens economic, environmental and social sustainability (Moreno Becken, 2009). Coastal tourism is the largest component of the global tourism industry with hundreds of millions of people visiting coasts and participating in marine activities (Moreno Becken, 2009). More than 60% of Europeans choose beach holidays and 80% of US tourism revenue is generated by beach tourism (IPCC, 2014). Coastal tourism is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and faces more serious challenges than inland operations (Hyman, 2014). The striking of the bells in the bell tower prompted the monks and other visitors to enter the church. The order of the service consisted of readings from various scriptures. Prior to entering the church for the service, Brother Francis pointed out that Cistercian monasticism s prayer service was highly influenced by Gregorian chants. Accordingly, the service consisted of a Gregorian chant like singing and the monks often stressed syllables for long periods of time, which made it initially difficult to follow. From its birth in the last century, the way computers process information has grown and expanded to a point that would have been hard to imagine for the early programmers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With guidance from Watson, the concept of a database was created during the 1920 s. IBM and DBMS was literally born out of a spark flamed on by the Bell system (Newton, 2004). About 1930, the Bell System started the data communication revolution by testing various carrier system technologies and releasing a remote calculation device known as the Complex Number Calculator (CHMT, n.d.). While the initial transmissions only carried numeric data, development of alpha numeric coding would open the door to the carrier systems advancements. Clearer circuits were required to allow error free service to the new computing systems. While the Bell System advanced the carrier capability, the data itself became increasingly complex as well. In the early years, the circuits were simple dialed telephone circuits that eventually graduated to dedicated or non switched connections that let the machines interact directly. Claude Shannon s paper The Mathematical Theory of Communications showed engineers how to code data so they could check for accuracy after transmission between computers. Shannon identified the bit as the fundamental unit of data and, coincidentally, the basic unit of computation (Shannon, 1948). Analysis External Threat of New Entrants There are many barriers to new organizations in the toy industry, making the threat of new entrants low. Lego and other big toy companies like Mattel benefit from economies of scale. An economy of scale is achieved by lower costs through large volume production (Textbook glossary). Economies of scale can occur in many departments within the organization including production, marketing, research and development, and finance. Some manufacturing of Lego products was shifted to Central Europe and Mexico in order to benefit from lower wages and to shorten product supply chains (p. 13 of case). The management of Lego additionally holds expertise on production, distribution and customer needs; which are absent in a new organization. To enter the toy sector a potential entrant needs to calculate the start of production at a level that will give a competitive position and production costs lower than the market. The high brand equity of Lego and other well established organizations offer another disadvantage to new entrants. • 31. Rna Interference ( Rnai ) Introduction RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological process where a double stranded RNA (dsRNA) activates the degradation of the sequence dependent RNA target cell, causing a posttranscrip tional gene silencing mechanism or inhibition of cellular gene expression. 1 This mechanism was first discovered in Caenorhabditis elegans in 1998 by Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello, where they observed that the introduction of the dsRNA in the animal cell resulted in an inhibition expression of the homologous gene, and this phenomenon opened new possibilities on modulat ing gene sequences in the medical industry. 2 However, there are some major setbacks with the ongoing research of this siRNA molecules as therapeutic applications, including a possibility of silencing the healthy genes other than the target ones when the siRNA binds to the complementary mRNA strand. There are also some studies that have shown that with the application of the siRNA as a drug, it produces some unwanted side effects where it could be lethal if there s an overdose or can cause immunity to the siRNA, leading to the question: is siRNA as a form of a drug for medicinal purposes actually safe? Mechanism of the RNAi in action The RNAi mechanism (Figure 1) is triggered with the introduction of the small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecules via enzyme (Dicer) breakdown of the double stranded RNA (dsRNA), following an incorporation of these siRNA into an RNA induced silencing complex (RISC). This isn t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate. One could argue that the decline of traditional media at the hands of media convergence prompted the incorrect presumption that old media was being superseded by the new (Lugmayr Dal Zotto 2015, pp. 4). Conversely, modern commentators have argued that new and old media interact across different media forms and platforms.
