WHAT'S MELTING POINT APPARATUS?
Melting point apparatus is a tool used to
measure the melting point or melting point of
a compound
is melting point
This
apparatus. It has electricity,
eyepiece, tube slot, display
panel display, heat
panel,
control knob and extendible
feet. plugs connect to
electricity. the tube slot
contains a capillary tube to test
its melting point Component of melting point
apparatus
HO W TO U S E MELTING PO IN
T APPARATU S
1.Insert the capillary tube which already contains the fine sample into the tube slot.
Usually the melting tool has a capacity of 3 – 6 tube slots so you can test more than one
sample.
2.Press the ON button to turn on the appliance, adjust the heating level by turning the
heating control knob.
3.Observe the melting point through the eye piece, you can see the sample which can be
enlarged with the eye piece scaler.
4.When the melting point is obtained, the heating temperature is 20°C below the desired
melting point, then slow the heating rate so that the temperature increases no more than
1°C every 30 seconds.
5.Meanwhile, if the melting point is not found, you can heat the sample with a high
heating rate until the substance can melt.
6.Record the first temperature from the melting point range which is indicated by the
presence of the first liquid drop visible through the eye piece.
7.Then record again the second temperature of its melting point range when the sample
melts completely or turns into a liquid.
8.If you want to repeat again with a different sample, you should first remove the first
sample from the capillary tube and allow the tool to cool.
