Media evaluation question 3.
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Tyana Rodney
In order to gain some audience feedback into my products I decided to design a
questionnaire that people could respond to, and from this I would be able to analyse
the feedback that I received.
I designed two questionnaires one in relation to my music video and the other is
focused on my ancillary product. When creating my questionnaire I decided to keep
it short with simple questions in order to prevent confusion amongst those who
were responding.
On my blog I placed a link to the questionnaire as well as a link to the media that the
questionnaire was to be aimed at.
For my first question I decided to ask ‘did you
watch the music video from start to finish’ I
asked this question in order to establish
whether people felt that my video was
engaging.
The majority of the people who responded to
my survey said ‘yes’ they did watch my video in
full. This was able to inform me that my video
was interesting and able to hold a viewers
attention.
I feel that combination of my narrative, visuals
and song choice was able to make an eye
catching and interesting video which can be
highlighted by the percentage of people that
responded with yes.
As small percentage did say that they did not
watch my video start to finish which suggests to
me that there are areas which could be
improved on such as the length or the story
line.
This question was asked in order for me to see if people enjoyed my music video and I decided to ask it in the style of
an attitudinal scale as way to secure a range of answers. It can be seen that the majority of those asked agreed with the
statement that they enjoyed the music video. A small percentage of the respondents said that they had an indifferent
opinion as to whether they enjoyed my music video or not, this could have been down to the video its self although it
may also be linked to my song choice considering that not all people have the same taste in music which can effect how
someone perceives a video.
None of the people that answered my survey disagreed or strongly disagreed with the stamen ‘you enjoyed this music
video’ which is able to show me that overall my video was enjoyed by the majority. This is also able to show me that
there are no stand out areas that need serious improvement considering that nobody was strongly against the video
after watching it.
I asked this question as a way to see if
my music video was interesting and
engaging enough that it would draw
people in to watch it more than once.
When analysing the results of my survey
I was pleased to see that just under
three quarters of the people asked
would consider watching my music
video again.
This is able to indicate to me that my
video was appealing and likeable and a
video in which people would be
interested in watching more than once.
I fee that this question was important to
ask as when creating a product you want
people to be drawn in leading them to
come back for more as this can lead to
higher levels of recognition and success.
Due to that fact that my ancillary text was made as a way to promote
the band as well as the single ‘sol’ I wanted to gain feedback in order to
see if my website made it clear to an audience member how they
would go about buying the song featured in my video and on the
homepage.
I was please to see that all of the people who took part in survey noted
that from my website homepage it was clear how that would be able to
purchase the single if they wished to do so.
This is able to show me that they way I which I designed and laid out
my homepage was clear and the vital information was not lost in the
appearance.
Considering that my music video is part of a promotional package I wanted to gather
feedback in relation to whether audiences would consider purchasing the song that features
in my music video.
From the bar above it can be seen that from my survey there a varying results which are
fairly even among percentages.
The results are able to show me that my music video was able to get most of those who
watched video to consider later purchasing the song, this indicated to me that my video was
as effective way of showcasing the song of my chosen artist. This can further inform me that
the combination of my video and homepage were and effective mix and were able to get
audiences interested in buying the song.
I should be noted that some people did respond by saying that they probably would not buy
the song after watching my music video however, this may be down to personal musical
preference rather my video itself.
I also wanted to gain audience feedback to see if my website was able to get
people interest into the band in general due to that fact that my home page
featured samples of other songs and further information.
Most people who responded said that after viewing my website they felt that
they had moderate interest into the band followed by 36% saying that they
were considerably interested.
No one who responded said that they had little or no interest into that band
after viewing my website which is able to inform me that my website was
engaging and able to cause interest amongst audiences. This is able to show
that when viewing my home page as a tool of promotion it is able to work
effectively.
For the final question I wanted to see if those who viewed my website found it satisfying and a pleasant experience.
I was pleased to see that all those who responded told me that they found it very satisfying/satisfying.
This is able to inform me that my website was easy to navigate and that people did not have any difficulties which could
have lowered their levels of overall satisfaction.
