Question 3
What did you learn from audience
feedback?
Throughout the entire project I was creating audience feedback; even when I asked a friend or a member
of my family for advice on a certain element – I was constantly asking for advice and feedback on how i
could improve and target my audience in a more successful way. I feel that i learnt a lot from feedback
and without the feedback that I received my final product would be no where near as successful that it is
now. I mostly asked for feedback via social networking such as Facebook and Twitter etc but mainly
asking my teachers for general feedback – I felt like these two techniques for gathering feedback was a
quick and easy way which allowed me to near enough straight away allow me to make the changes .
When I was asking for feedback I always kept my target audience in mind; as these are the main people I
want to keep intrigued with the whole film. I gathered information from planning and researching to
post-production, I thought that constantly asking people for feedback from my target audience was vital
to allow me to create three products that appealed to my target audience.
My main target audience is primarily females; as most romance films
usually are, without being too stereotypical. The age range i have chosen
for this film is 15-19 year olds – who can in a sense relate to the storyline
of the film as they are both having to face university and having to leave
each other whilst they are both extremely happy in their relationship and
most 15, 16 year olds are falling in love and 17-19 year olds are facing or
have faced what ‘Ellie and Joe’ are facing in their lives. Also, knowing
that most of this age range are popular social media users as I know as I,
myself fit into this age category and this film is defiantly something in
which I can relate to the characters emotions – this is why I knew this
trailer would be a success within this age groups and from the feedback I
have gotten from this.
Here are some screenshots of
some of the feedback I got from
different people in my target
audience:
This feedback defiantly helped
the most as it is all from females
who are in my target audience.
These screenshots include me
asking different types of
questions.
I asked a lot of different types of people in my
target audience, this was a very quick and
easy task and this helped a lot through the
project, the feedback that I gained was very
positive and very helpful. A few of the
feedbacks stated that automatically the
audience could tell from the film poster and
magazine which genre the film was in; which
is something that I was very pleased to hear as
this was a very big focus of mine.
When i showed a friend of mine who is 20
years old – so 1 year out of my target
audience, which I knew didn't matter as this
film genre is something in her style of interest
and I know that she had to face something
similar when she was younger and now can
use this film to reflect on her own path
choices that she made and she knows how the
actors are feeling in the film
I knew that her feedback would be very
helpful. Her one negative was that on the
magazine a more central image would of
worked a lot better and looked more
professional.
When I was in the process of creating my magazine front cover I need
some advice on the title that is on the film poster. The beginning of the
creation process I needed to think of a name. Therefore, I created a survey
in which I asked a question about what my target audience would expect a
romance film to be called – here in the screenshot I have included the
analysed answers I got from this, I used SurveryMonkey to create this
questionnaire, and I feel as though this really helped a lot., as it gave me a
sense of what my target audience was looking for.
When I asked for feedback on a few names this is the feedback that I got,
from an 18 year old female.
When I then began to create my magazine front cover, after
researching into different genres of film magazines, I thought that on
all of the magazines, the mast head stood out the most, and captured
my attention mostly. I found is extremely hard to find out the
conventions of a film magazine in the genre; romance as I couldn't
find any existing ones in the market; this was extremely hard
knowing what to include in mine as i had no idea of the conventions
– instead I looked at a variety of different genres of film magazines
throughout a lot of researched. I also created a questionnaire through
SurveyMonkey asking what my target expected – this helped me a
lot and aided me to create a successful film magazine. When I asked
about the font that I had chosen, I asked my two different media
teachers for some feedback – I got two different results, one
preferred a thicker font - because most film magazines had a thick
and bold font – and the other feedback that I got was to keep the thin
font style as they said ‘it looks more happy’ which love is. After
some debating and researching back over existing film magazines, I
decided to keep the thin text as this was the complete opposite to the
horror and action type film magazines, and of course, romance is the
total opposite. Looking back I thought that this was the correct
choice.
After getting a lot of feedback from my target
audience; I realised that I had only asked females –
which was most successful. After this feedback, I
decided to get some from someone who hadn't
followed any of the development stages and had never
seen any of the products before – and didn’t know
anything about the storyline. I have included a
screenshot of our messages about the film poster and
magazine. I found it very interesting what they had to
say as I know that him personally wouldn’t watch a
film like this and it wouldn’t appeal to him normally –
which is fair enough as most males aren't
stereotypically interested in romance films. I found his
feedback very helpful and interesting.
Next, I decided to ask for feedback from a male who had
followed the whole process of the making of all three
elements, I asked him what he thought about the end
results, his reply was slightly different to someone who
had never seen it before – this male that I asked knew
about everything, the storyline, the characters etc so I
found this piece of feedback very interesting. I sent the
same message as the one I have screenshotted above.
In conclusion, I found that gathering feedback was a vital element
to this entire product as it really helped me on making decisions
and also improving thing to appeal more to my target audience.
From the beginning, the most important part was ensuring that I
appealed to my target audience and gave them something that
they wanted – appealing to my target audience was vital in the
success of my products. I asked many people throughout the
entire project their opinions etc. I even asked for advice many
time from classmates and friends that I didn’t note down – this is
something that I was continuously doing without even realising.
Overall, gathering feedback was very helpful as it aided me the
most in knowing exactly what my target audience wanted.
Without all this feedback I have gathered I know that I wouldn’t
of been able to create products that appeal to my audience and I
don’t think I would of got such positive feedback.

Question 3

  • 1. Question 3 What did you learn from audience feedback?
  • 2. Throughout the entire project I was creating audience feedback; even when I asked a friend or a member of my family for advice on a certain element – I was constantly asking for advice and feedback on how i could improve and target my audience in a more successful way. I feel that i learnt a lot from feedback and without the feedback that I received my final product would be no where near as successful that it is now. I mostly asked for feedback via social networking such as Facebook and Twitter etc but mainly asking my teachers for general feedback – I felt like these two techniques for gathering feedback was a quick and easy way which allowed me to near enough straight away allow me to make the changes . When I was asking for feedback I always kept my target audience in mind; as these are the main people I want to keep intrigued with the whole film. I gathered information from planning and researching to post-production, I thought that constantly asking people for feedback from my target audience was vital to allow me to create three products that appealed to my target audience.
  • 3. My main target audience is primarily females; as most romance films usually are, without being too stereotypical. The age range i have chosen for this film is 15-19 year olds – who can in a sense relate to the storyline of the film as they are both having to face university and having to leave each other whilst they are both extremely happy in their relationship and most 15, 16 year olds are falling in love and 17-19 year olds are facing or have faced what ‘Ellie and Joe’ are facing in their lives. Also, knowing that most of this age range are popular social media users as I know as I, myself fit into this age category and this film is defiantly something in which I can relate to the characters emotions – this is why I knew this trailer would be a success within this age groups and from the feedback I have gotten from this.
  • 4. Here are some screenshots of some of the feedback I got from different people in my target audience: This feedback defiantly helped the most as it is all from females who are in my target audience. These screenshots include me asking different types of questions.
  • 5. I asked a lot of different types of people in my target audience, this was a very quick and easy task and this helped a lot through the project, the feedback that I gained was very positive and very helpful. A few of the feedbacks stated that automatically the audience could tell from the film poster and magazine which genre the film was in; which is something that I was very pleased to hear as this was a very big focus of mine. When i showed a friend of mine who is 20 years old – so 1 year out of my target audience, which I knew didn't matter as this film genre is something in her style of interest and I know that she had to face something similar when she was younger and now can use this film to reflect on her own path choices that she made and she knows how the actors are feeling in the film I knew that her feedback would be very helpful. Her one negative was that on the magazine a more central image would of worked a lot better and looked more professional.
  • 6. When I was in the process of creating my magazine front cover I need some advice on the title that is on the film poster. The beginning of the creation process I needed to think of a name. Therefore, I created a survey in which I asked a question about what my target audience would expect a romance film to be called – here in the screenshot I have included the analysed answers I got from this, I used SurveryMonkey to create this questionnaire, and I feel as though this really helped a lot., as it gave me a sense of what my target audience was looking for. When I asked for feedback on a few names this is the feedback that I got, from an 18 year old female. When I then began to create my magazine front cover, after researching into different genres of film magazines, I thought that on all of the magazines, the mast head stood out the most, and captured my attention mostly. I found is extremely hard to find out the conventions of a film magazine in the genre; romance as I couldn't find any existing ones in the market; this was extremely hard knowing what to include in mine as i had no idea of the conventions – instead I looked at a variety of different genres of film magazines throughout a lot of researched. I also created a questionnaire through SurveyMonkey asking what my target expected – this helped me a lot and aided me to create a successful film magazine. When I asked about the font that I had chosen, I asked my two different media teachers for some feedback – I got two different results, one preferred a thicker font - because most film magazines had a thick and bold font – and the other feedback that I got was to keep the thin font style as they said ‘it looks more happy’ which love is. After some debating and researching back over existing film magazines, I decided to keep the thin text as this was the complete opposite to the horror and action type film magazines, and of course, romance is the total opposite. Looking back I thought that this was the correct choice.
  • 7. After getting a lot of feedback from my target audience; I realised that I had only asked females – which was most successful. After this feedback, I decided to get some from someone who hadn't followed any of the development stages and had never seen any of the products before – and didn’t know anything about the storyline. I have included a screenshot of our messages about the film poster and magazine. I found it very interesting what they had to say as I know that him personally wouldn’t watch a film like this and it wouldn’t appeal to him normally – which is fair enough as most males aren't stereotypically interested in romance films. I found his feedback very helpful and interesting. Next, I decided to ask for feedback from a male who had followed the whole process of the making of all three elements, I asked him what he thought about the end results, his reply was slightly different to someone who had never seen it before – this male that I asked knew about everything, the storyline, the characters etc so I found this piece of feedback very interesting. I sent the same message as the one I have screenshotted above.
  • 8. In conclusion, I found that gathering feedback was a vital element to this entire product as it really helped me on making decisions and also improving thing to appeal more to my target audience. From the beginning, the most important part was ensuring that I appealed to my target audience and gave them something that they wanted – appealing to my target audience was vital in the success of my products. I asked many people throughout the entire project their opinions etc. I even asked for advice many time from classmates and friends that I didn’t note down – this is something that I was continuously doing without even realising. Overall, gathering feedback was very helpful as it aided me the most in knowing exactly what my target audience wanted. Without all this feedback I have gathered I know that I wouldn’t of been able to create products that appeal to my audience and I don’t think I would of got such positive feedback.
