Evaluation Question 3
What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Survey Monkey
Within my Audience Feedback, I created a
Survey on surveymonkey.com to see what
audiences would respond what answers to what
questions I created. The type of questions I
created had specific answers to what my
audiences could answer so that I knew
specifically what I could learn from my feedback.
What is your Gender?
For my first question I asked what
gender they were. With this basic
and simple question, I found that my
main target audience were aimed at
male rather than female.
With the previous survey that we
had created, we found that
previously showed a male target
audience as well. Because now with
my audience feedback
questionnaire, it shows that it is
consistent and that our previous
target audience was correct.
What is your Age?
With my second question I asked
about what age they were. With the
results that I collected, I found that
the majority of my most common
age groups were ages ranging from
16 - 18, and 19 - 24 years of age.
With these results, I have learnt that
our music video is targeting young
adults, and people who are also
students. I have also learnt that we
were consistent about what our
target audience age range was from
our previous questionnaire, proving
our target audience had a age range
from 16 – 25.
How would you rate our music Video?
With another question I produced
for my audience feedback, I asked if
they believed our music video was
either a high rating or a low rating;
this included different levels of
rating; such as excellent, very good,
OK, could have been better, or not
good. I found that with in my
feedback, that the majority of my
feedback either opted for excellent,
or very good. With this, I have
learned that our music video was a
success and we achieved a
successful music video, purely by
following the correct codes and
conventions to a music video.
Did it fit in with our Genre of music?
(Experimental & Electronic)
I asked my audiences for my
feedback questionnaire if they
believed our music video fitted in
with our genre of music. I found that
0ver 90% opted for the ‘yes’ option.
With this I have learnt that our music
video does portray the experimental
format of a music video and it does
fit in with our chosen genre. We
believe that this is due to the quick
cut editing and due to our
continuous editing techniques we
have used in our music video.
With did you find most interesting
about the Music Video? What caught
your attention more?
Here, I asker my audience what did
they find most interesting about our
music video and what caught their eye
through out. With the feedback I have
gathered, I have learned that is was in
fact due to our editing techniques
included in our music video, such as
the quick cuts, the double exposures
and so on. With this I have also
learned that by following the codes
and conventions due to our research
on different editing techniques, that
our experimental music video was a
success, and made it look more
interesting.
What editing techniques did you find
worked well with our type of Music
Video?
Here, I asked what types of specific editing
techniques that my audience were more drawn
to, and what they found worked well. With my
feedback, I learned that it was mainly due to the
editing technique of double exposing different
angles of different footage of our actor from
different angles and view points. With this being
one highest option from our feedback, I have
also learned that by following research of this
specific technique, it has become a success in
creating an interesting development. I have also
learned from my feedback that the Kaleidoscope
effect and the use of quick cuts were also a
success as well. With this feedback I have
learned that by using a variety of different
editing techniques have been a success and been
good decisions in our editing process.
What types of footage worked well?
With one of my following questions,
I asked what types of footage
worked well. With my results, I
learned that the majority of my
audience liked the footage using the
‘Bouquet’ effect. With these results,
I learned that my audience for this
questionnaire enjoyed the bright
lights and the ‘bubbles of lights’
shown in this music video. This also
links in with the use of combining
imagery for my ancillary tasks, and
using imagery with the use of the
‘bouquet’ effect. With my audience
feedback I have learned that by
using the bouquet effect it has been
a success.
What didn’t work well for our genre of music through our editing
and footage taken? What could be improved on?
With this question, I asked about what my
audience didn’t like about our music
video, and what could be improved on. We
found that it was mainly aimed at the lack
in variety in shots, and the repetition in
footage that we used. With this, we knew
when we started editing that we realized
we didn’t have enough different types of
footage, and that they were all similar with
each other.
With this feedback, I have learned that
even though we want a specific style and
specific footage, that we should still take a
variety on footage.
Would you watch the Music Video
again?
With my final question, I asked if my
audience if they would watch my
music video again. With my
feedback, I found that the majority of
my audience would either watch it
again, or they might watch it again,
and no one opted for no. with this,
because the majority of my audience
selected yes, I have learned that
because of our decisions made and
because we followed the correct
codes and conventions in creating a
successful experimental and
electronic music video.
Conclusion
Overall I have learned from my audience
feedback that because we created a previous
questionnaire, we then had that to follow on
with what we believed our target audience
was, which was then reflected in its
consistency in this questionnaire. Also,
because we did back up research on different
experimental music videos, this helped us
develop our editing techniques for our own
music video.
