The Common Sexually Transmitted Infections
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States
(CDC, 2013). People are having unprotected sex and passing these viruses from one parent to another
every day and they don t even know it s happening. There is a vaccination called Gardasil that can
prevent HPV for teenage girl, woman and teenage males now. Gardasil should be mandated for
parents for vaccinating their children for these viruses. For all ages between 9 26 years, this
vaccination is the best method to prevent HPV infection and the risk of HPV related diseases (CDC
2014). Gardasil should be a required immunization for getting into middle school or high school
requirements. This vaccine is saving people from different kinds of ... Show more content on

Parents in the United States need to decide if they want to have their children have cervical cancer,
genital warts or male teenagers passing HPV to every partner they have. Education parents are the
main goal for health care workers and schools so parents get the correct and accurate information on
the human papillomavirus or for any vaccine for that matter. One way to protect us from getting a
sexually transmitted disease at such a young age and also having a vaccine out there that can teenagers
can get to prevent the human papillomavirus. Parents are thinking that if they give them the HPV
vaccine that they are giving permission to have intercourse. We should educate early teenagers in
school about safe sex and waiting till marriage, then we can see how almost eliminating HPV
altogether. Education is all in all the main point of mandating the HPV vaccine and parents getting the
true facts in vaccines in general. There are over a 100 strands of human papillomaviruses and more
that they are still researching. Human papillomaviruses are small, double stranded DNA viruses that
infect the epithelium and turns into cells that are infected. About 79 million Americans are currently
infected with HPV. About 14 million will be infected with it annually. With millions of people getting
these strands of HPV, Parents need to think twice about not vaccinating their children on this and look

Brandon Teen Driving In The Night
SUMMARY The film opens with Brandon Teena (Hilary Swank) driving in the night. He is going
with his cousin, Lonny (Matt McGrath), an older boy who is gay, to a skating rink. Lonny warns
Brandon against behaving dangerously. Brandon ignores him and enters the rink, which seems
magical to him. There Brandon meets with a girl. Later, we see them kissing outside her home, and
Brandon chivalrously tells her he won t leave until he knows she is safely inside. But later, Brandon is
chased by a group of young men, one of whom is related to the girl, and all of whom are yelling
homosexual related insults and threats. Brandon seeks protection in Lonny s trailer, and if the

They find a newspaper that talks about the arrest of Teena Brandon, and show it to Lana s mother.
Meanwhile, Brandon has written Lana to tell her that he s in jail. She asks why Brandon is in the
female section, and he lies: he tells her he was born a hermaphrodite, but will soon receive a sex
change operation to correct his condition. Lana declares her love for Brandon, no matter what she is
and the two leave the jail joyously, and then have sex in her car. Nissen and Lotter are extremely
angered by the discovery that Brandon is really a girl in their opinion, she is a lesbian. They are on a
rampage looking for Brandon, whom they find at Lana s mother s house, together with Lana. They
force Brandon to strip off his pants, to reveal to Lana his true identity. Lana only looks when forced to.
Later, Nissen and Lotter pursue Brandon and violently rape him in Nissen s car. They return with
Brandon to Nissen s house. Although injured, Brandon escapes from Nissen s bathroom by climbing
out the window. Lana convinces him to file a police report, though Brandon had been warned by
Nissen and Lotter to remain silent. Brandon, in distress files a report. Later, in a drunken rage, Nissen
and Lotter set out to kill Brandon. They find Brandon hiding in a farm house with Candace and her
baby. Brandon and Candace are fatally shot, while Lana is screaming desperately. Lana falls

Long Term Memory Research
Learning is to gain or acquire knowledge or skill by study, experience, or being taught. This leads to
long term changes in our behavior. Psychological studies in learning normally occupy laboratory
experiments and thus use animals as participants. It is commonly known that learning applies not just
to humans, but also for animals. If you have ever owned a pet, you probably noticed that they pick
things up fairly easily. For example, if you have a particular feeding time and location for a dog, they
usually become familiar with the location of where they need to go in order to be fed. For us humans,
our brain capacity enables us to critically think faster and better; as a result, our learning capability
extends beyond the range of necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, there are debates as to whether we actually forget anything at all, or whether it just
becomes increasingly difficult to access or retrieve certain items from our memory. Short term
memories can become long term memory through the process of consolidation; this involves
participation and significant association. However, there is some evidence that long term memory also
record to sound to some extent. For example, when you cannot quite remember the words to a certain
song, but it is on the tip of my tongue, this is usually based on the sound of a word; not it s meaning.
But what does our memory have to do with the way that we learn new information? We lose and
acquire information through an information processing system in our brain. This system identifies
how we store, encode, and retrieve information. So when we learn, this entails converting the new
information into long term memory. Much of what we believe we have learned is soon forgotten or
was never really learned in the first place, due to short term memory. The specific strategies you use to
store and remember information in your long term memory affects how likely it is that you will
actually remember it. This is where we begin to study the information that is needed to be learned to
prevent it from fading over time. By re analyzing the information that is needed to be learned, we
repetitively update and renew the information already know until we no longer need to. According to
Aaron S. Benjamin s The Psychology of Learning, we lose about fifty percent of what we learn within
a twenty four hour period because of our short term memory. Therefore, unless you frequently study
and review the information over and over again, it will be lost. This all plays into how we truly receive

Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from
various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in
the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment
with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past.
Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated
with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while
all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than
depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and
inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear
to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the
infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to
believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems
to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often
turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead
experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John

Susan Cain Introverts
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can t Stop Talking In Quiet, Susan Cain (2013) argues
that we undervalue introverts, and therefore she attempts to show us how much we lose by doing so.
She describes the rise of the extrovert culture in the 21st century and explains how deeply it has
influenced our culture. Additionally, she introduces an example of successful introverts from a high
figure who recharges in loneliness after his talks then to a record breaking sales associate who taps
into the questioning power. Passionately argued and well researched, Quiet attempts to permanently
change our perspectives towards introverts, and most importantly, make introverts change how they
see themselves. In this task, I am going to summarize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is seeking compensation from a lottery jackpot and enjoying and evening with close
friends. Rewards motivate individuals to apply for sex and money, social status and, influence.
However, sometimes people are too sensitive to rewards, which is an overdrive that gets people into
all forms of trouble. Extroverted clients are more likely to be reward sensitive while introverts are
likely to pay more attention to warning signals. They are more successful in regulating their behavior,
and usually, they protect themselves from the downside. Extroverts are characterized by their tendency
to seek reward from top status to sexual rewards and cold cash. Most importantly to introverts, they
socialize because human connection is gratifying. Extroverts rush for energized and anxious feelings.
Cain describes dopamine as the reward chemical released in response to anticipated pleasures. The
Dopamine of extroverts appears to be more active than those of introverts. Also, Cain argues that
introverts are better than extroverts in delaying gratification. Reward sensitive extroverts focus on
achieving their goals and don t want any challenge to get in their way. They speed up to meet their
goals on time and to eliminate challenges along their way. In contrast, introverts are programmed to
downplay reward and scan for problems. They tend to compare new information with

Mamy Kochiyama Analysis
Mary Yuri Kochiyama (later taking her middle name Yuri in the 1960s) was born on May 19th, 1921,
in San Pedro, CA. San Pedro is a port town lying southbound of Los Angeles; in the 1920s, it
consisted of predominantly working class Italian and Yugoslavian immigrants. However, the
Nakaharas never experienced the ostracization other Asian Americans did, for most residents shared
the centripetal immigrant experience. Kochiyama and her brothers lived an expressedly American
existence in their early years, in essence bleeding red, white, and blue. Mary Kochiyama volunteered

In October 1963, she befriended Malcolm X whilst being arraigned inside a Brooklyn courthouse; her
arrest had stemmed from her participance in a Brooklyn protest at the Downstate Medical Center,
where she and hundreds of other protesters blocked a construction site entrance, demanding jobs for
black and Puerto Rican workers. She felt apprehensive when she first saw Malcolm, as he was
encircled by a circle of black men, and she didn t know if she could approach him because she wasn t
black. Despite this, she introduced herself to him, and boldly inquired if he might support integration,
( Yuri Kochiyama , Densho Encyclopedia). Malcolm and Kochiyama began to foster a friendship that
would drastically change Kochiyama, both ideologically and politically. Later in 1964, Malcolm broke
with the Nation of Islam, founding the Organization for Afro American Unity, which Kochiyama
quickly became a part of. She was incredibly drawn to Malcolm s political beliefs. She began inviting
him to her many apartment gatherings. Kochiyama regarded Malcolm as both fellow colleague and
exemplar to follow. He instilled in her a fervent politic of racism s hold in U.S. as well as world
policies and actions. She took a marked respect for Malcolm: his adherence to his principles, as well
as a supplicatory respect to grow as a person, bonded the two strongly. Kochiyama s friendship with
Malcolm further radicalized her and she joined the most militant of black nationalist organizations,

The Legal Drinking Age Of The United States
The Legal Drinking Age
The legal drinking age in the United States is 21, while in other countries the legal age ranges from 16
18. The argument in the United States is, Should the United States lower its drinking age? There are
many sides to this argument but research has given many good points to back up both sides of the
question. First issue is the difference between a teen s brain with alcohol and an adult s brain with
alcohol. Another concern is that drinking at a younger age can help teach culture. Lastly, the more
alcohol that people are exposed to, there is an increase in death rate. I believe that it is a good idea to
keep the legal drinking age at age 21 because in our past we have had many problems with increased
deaths due to the drinking age being at different ages. My research used uses pathos, logos, ethos and
kairos to help persuade the reader that 21 should stay the legal drinking age.
First, one reason the drinking age is 21 is because the United States Mothers Against Drunk Driving
program wants to make sure a teen s brain develops to maturity in order for them to be able to drink
alcohol. The argument that congress had in the 70 s was, If young Americans could be entrusted to
vote, serve on a jury and fight in Vietnam, why couldn t they order a beer? (Griggs). If Americans are
allowed to vote, fight in the wars and serve on jury all at the age of 18, what is the difference in them
being able to go out and buy some alcohol? This side of the argument

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up.. Being grown up isn t as fun as the idea of growing up. AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do grownup
things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally grew up , and
here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven t made up our mind of what it is we will
do when we grow up. We ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it ll be like when we
eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into
action, it s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is
optional. Anonymous We all have the choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives
them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise. Alden Nowlan As we
continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced
ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact
grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought
growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our
youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow
up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it
and no one could do a thing about it. A grownup is a child with layers on. Woody

Summary Of The Novel Collapse By Jared Diamond
Collapse, a novel by Jared Diamond, discusses current and future problems on Earth to warn readers
of what is happening around them. Diamond goes into detail about specific societies, and then
analyzes its meaning in the final chapter. Using the title The World as a Polder, he examines twelve
major issues that are expected to worsen in the future. These issues include deforestation, overfishing,
loss of diversity of species, loss of soil, growth of the human population, and the effect of more
people. The limit on energy, freshwater, and sunlight is also mentioned, as well as the challenges
brought up by toxic chemicals, alien species, and atmospheric gases. These environmental challenges
are so hard to overcome because different people do not want to spend money and time fixing the
same dilemmas. A common belief is that these problems are not going to matter anytime soon, so we
have no reason to care. However, this is incorrect. We need to act now in order to move past ... Show

However, the theory that these disasters are not going to become a reality anytime soon is putting a
roadblock on this. Despite Diamond s research, society pictures a year such as 2037 to be unreal.
Diamond himself pictured it this way, but suddenly realized, It s not an imaginary year! (523). Along
with this statement, Diamond says, ...rises in living standards in Third World countries whose
inhabitants see and covet First World lifestyles; and immigration, both legal and illegal, of individual
Third World inhabitants into the First World, driven by political, economic, and social problems at
home (505). This poses a problem to the current First World citizens, because it can lower their living
standards as well as creating a larger carbon footprint, less food and water, and more crowded cities.
The only way to solve this is with a long term solution, which costs much more than a short term

Rosalind Franklin Dna Replication
Because of her discovery of the B form of DNA, recognition that two states of the
DNA molecule existed and defined the conditions for the transition, essentially being literally only
two steps away from discovering the structure of DNA herself, Rosalind
Franklin deserved to be a co winner of the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Prize in
Medicine for elucidating the structure of DNA in such a way that the mechanism for genetic
replication was revealed. The x ray, or photograph that James Watson, Francis
Crick and Maurice Wilkins used, and was extremely viable in all three of their research, was a direct
result of work carried out by Rosalind Franklin while at King s College in
London. Instead, the three men received the recognition and Rosalind ... Show more content on

From these photographs, or x rays, she was able to draw a logical conclusion to the basic dimensions
of DNA strands. Rosalind actually presented these findings at a lecture in King s College at which one
of the eventual Prize winners, James Watson, were in attendance. Franklin tried to figure out how the
double helix worked but wasn t able to. Without her permission,
Franklin s co worker, Maurice Wilkins, secretly showed her photos to the American scientist Watson.
He and Francis Crick, his British research partner, were trying to build a DNA model. When Watson
saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two were able to
complete the model.
In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on their

The Greek Hero Of Fame
Greek Hero Essay
Why should Perseus be in the Greek Hall of Fame?
Who was given gifts by gods and goddesses? Who was almost killed by his grandfather? Whose father
was the biggest man on campus? Well, that was Perseus, son of Zeus, and killer of Medusa. Perseus
was a descendant of Zeus and Danae, Acrisius, his grandfather did not like him, so he sent him and his
mother away in a chest in the ocean. Perseus should be in the Greek Hero Hall of Fame, for multiple
different reasons. When considering why he should be in the Greek Hero Hall of Fame, Perseus must
be important because if he wasn t why would there be so many books and movies, all about him. For
example, Percy Jackson book series and movies, and The Clash of the Titans. Perseus is a Greek hero
because he was born of a royal birth, had extreme feats, and died a usual death.
To begin, Perseus was born a son of Zeus and Danae, and from the royal families of the Olympians,
from Zeus, and Libians, from Danae. Even though, he was born into a royal family, he wasn t wanted
in the royal family, since Acrisius sent him away, he really didn t get any power to the royal family.
Perseus, was basically excluded from the family. One piece of evidence is, according to Ancient
origins.net, it states, His grandfather was the king of Argos, Acrisius, who with his wife, Eurydice, had
a daughter Danae. But Acrisius wanted a son. He went to the Oracle of Delphi who told him that, not

The article entitled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Technology; Sales Demand, Manufacturing
and Market Interface (Sharma, 2013) begins by pointing out the importance of businesses being
sensitive to customer demand across a variety of markets around the world in order to maintain
competitiveness. The responses of increasing capacity or simplifying production are not proving as
useful as the strategy of improving the integration of sales demand, manufacturing, and marketing
(SDM M), thus making the company more intimately and rapidly responsive to demand. This
increased integration involves certain basic questions, such as what process to use to integrate and
how to do so. Large companies use ERP technology to achieve SDM M ... Show more content on

In spite of these gaps in the research, there is still evidence of the positive effect of the SDM M
interface and the speed and quality of information to overcome uncertainties about demand,
unpredictable competitors, the timing and novelty of new products, and other relevant questions.
Research recommends that dedicated employee positions exist that integrate the three areas, such as a
sales and distribution specialist who is expected to provide the materials departments with updates.
Companies have been spending large amounts of money on systems that integrate SDM M, making it
possible to survey the success of an IT based strategy to address this challenge. By its nature, ERP is a
well integrated, cross functional system which lends itself to the types of functions required for
integration of the three business functions, demand, manufacturing, and marketing. (Sharma, 2013).
There are two basic types of ERP research, implementation oriented and performance oriented. The
first type studies what factors foster success in implementing ERP, while the second investigates
factors in ERP that affect performance. Research has shown that companies that use ERP outperform
those that do not in functional efficiency, productivity, stock market, and financial metrics.
Interestingly, ERP is found to have a neutral or negative effect on customer satisfaction and operating
expenses. More predictably, general performance dips

Let the test tube sit undisturbed for 2 5 minutes. You should begin to see air bubbles form at the
boundary line between the ethanol and the filtered fruit solution. Bubbles will form near the top, and
you will eventually see the DNA float to the top of the ethanol. Gently insert the stir stick into the test
tube. Slowly raise and lower the tip several times to spool and collect the DNA. If there is an
insufficient amount of DNA available, it may not float to the top of the solution in a form that can be
easily spooled or removed from the tube. However, the DNA will still be visible as white/clear clusters
by gently stirring the solution and pushing the clusters around the top. Post Lab Questions What is the
texture and consistency of the DNA DNA is viscous and greasy. Why did we use a salt in the
extraction solution High salt makes DNA less soluble in water. In order to dissolve, the water needs to
interact with the DNA. Since DNA is quite large, it needs to interact with lots of water for this
purpose. When you add salt, the water preferentially interacts with the salt (its small, and can move
around in solution easier than the DNA can). This makes it so there is less water available to interact
with the DNA and it becomes less soluble. Is the DNA soluble in the aqueous solution or alcohol DNA
is less soluble in an alcohol such as isopropanol than it is in water. This is because alcohols are non
polar, whereas water is polar. The polar

The Golden Age of Sports The 1920s was a great decade for the economy because of the popularity in
sports. The number of fans increased, which created the need for new stadiums and raised the salary
for sports stars. Sports in the 1920s went through many changes in the time period known as the
Roaring Twenties. New heroes, new teams, and new leagues were emerging in sports. Some sports
were just starting, some were broadening their horizons, while others were just becoming more
popular. The media helped to make sports become more popular in the 1920s. Movie houses showed
videos of sports contests, which helped create stars. Newspapers and magazines gave the sports
reporter a new authority as the media brought information about athletes and athletics to large
audiences. Radio broadcasts of college football and professional baseball began early in the 1920s.
The media supplied news but also manufactured it and, in the process, created and satisfied an eager
audience. The decade was the Golden Age of Sports . The 1920s were a starting foundation for
football. The most popular league, the NFL, was formed in the 1920s. On August 20, 1920, the owner
of four Ohio league teams met to form a new professional league. On September 17, the team met
again, changing its name to APFA (American Professional Football Association). By 1923, the name
was changed to the National Football League (NFL). The 20 s brought in new styles of plays, such

Physics of Skydiving Essay
The Physics of Skydiving
What Is Skydiving?
Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually
out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This
safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the
skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal.
This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving. First we will
explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before his jump, second we will try
and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show

Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation.
One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is in the plane. The
normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram
mass (this is getting close to the maximum weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces
in the y, or upward direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the
acceleration of Joe must be zero.
Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to take his first jump.
Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe
is now instantly accelerating in the downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to
travel at a rapid rate. But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this
knowledge, Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s
velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation:
X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2
Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the acceleration due to
gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the acceleration of gravity is always 9.8
m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has traveled at any point in time. Lets examine the new free body
diagram for this situation.

The Media And Its Impact On The Entertainment Industry Essay
The mass media has developed into a highly influential platform that relays information to audiences
all around the world, but are the images seen in advertisements and television, devaluing individuals
by labeling them under stereotypes? In order to truly understand the core of such a question, it is
important to first define and solidify some key terms. To begin with, what mediums of mass media
will be considered in the analysis of this issue? Specifically, I will attempt to highlight the use of
gender stereotypes in the form of visual advertisements, such as magazines and television
commercials. I will also be considering the use of gender stereotypes in the entertainment industry,
particularly in the making of TV shows and movies.
The power of the media in transcending gender related information is well described by Tom Bogt, an
interdisciplinary social science researcher, in his scholarly article, Shake It Baby, Shake It, as the fact
that the media has become an important source of knowledge for physical, social, and emotional
aspects of an individual s development of sexual attitudes, values, and practices (Bogt, 844). Bogt
emphasizes that advertisements and media entertainment present a rather unrealistic and skewed
account of human romance and sexuality and this account is what forms the attenuating gender
stereotypes (Bogt, 844). Now the question arises, what exactly are gender stereotypes? Gender
stereotypes are dramatized, overused, and precise

Future Technological Impacts and Influences on News...
Future Technological Impacts and Influences on News Reporting and Presentation
Forms of technology have always had a significant influence on the way news is both reported and
presented; there is no reason to suppose this situation will change as new technologies develop and
mature in the future.
Examples from the past are legion, but a couple of particularly striking ones may serve to illustrate the
extreme impact changes in technology have upon what we regard as news .
The development of the printing press (in Europe in the mid Fifteenth Century) allowed for the first
time the widespread and low cost dissemination of written material. Reading was no longer the sole
preserve of educated elite; the ramifications of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the images are a closer reflection of ourselves than are words on a page.
One further example of the past impact of technological change on news reporting and presentation,
likewise, is still very much present (or perhaps, dominant) today: live television broadcast from the
scene of news events. Developed from the 1960 s onwards, due to a number of converging
technologies, for example, smaller cameras, satellite communications, portable power, it is now a
given that any significant news event will have instantaneous live television coverage. Indeed, entire
networks (CNN, Sky News, BBC World) now exist based upon this foundation of live news.
But is this unending live news good news? Former political correspondent of The New York Times,
and editor for New York magazine and Esquire, Richard Reeves, believes ...today s high tech fusion of
cable television, electronic information services and pop culture, has removed the filtering process of
reporting, editing and writing that separates journalism from the raw act of communication. (as cited
in Martin, 1997). And Bob Jobbins, chairman of the UK s Rory Peck Trust (a journalist s charity) says:
The power of technology can lead to the homogenisation of content and originality is the hardest thing
to protect... (as cited on BBC News Web page, 2002).
Given these quite fundamental examples of how new developments in technology have

Willy Loman, many reader s see him as a hero in the novel Death of a Salesman , while others see him
as a villain. Though Willy killed himself for his family, so Biff can get his insurance money to start a
business; readers can see him as being a villain because he put his wife and kids in pain. But he can
also be seen as a hero for thinking of his family rather than himself. It is not stated if he is either a
villain or a hero, the evidence show s he can be one or the other. Willy could be seen as a villain
because he never faced his issues, and never got helped. He was so caught up trying to live the
American Dream; he never noticed how much he affected Linda, Biff and Happy. She hides what she
feels for his sake, in the novel she says that With great difficulty: Oh, boys, it s so hard to say a thing
like this! He s just a big stupid man to you, but I tell you there s more good in him than in many other
people. She chokes, wipes her eyes. I was looking for a fuse. The lights blew out, and I went down the
cellar. And behind the fuse box it happened to fall out was a length of rubber pipe just short. (Arthur
Miller, 59). Linda tries to help Willy with his mental illness and he just brushes her off, she tries to
keep herself and him together, and bottles up her emotions. Willy ensures success in both the boy s

Adversity Negative Effects
Intro: Adversity; misfortune, disaster and trauma. We have seen adversity on both the major and minor
levels of the past, present and in fiction. We often see in all aspects the negatives that adversity leads
to. So this begs the question, does adversity lead to growth? We see adversity from the Columbian
exchange through growing populations and new technology. In the New York Times article by Andrew
E. Kramer, one reads about the financial growth Russia faces after a long time of recession. Likewise,
in Catherine Hyde s Pay it Forward One will read about the emotional and mental growth people have
after Trevor dies which essentially causes the movement to flourish. We see adversity everywhere in
life, and although there are many negative consequences that go along with adversity, eventually, it
will lead to development and a rise in success.
The Columbian exchange had many moving parts to it, however, a largely known negative impact was
the massive fatalities diseases spread by trade and exploration had on both Europeans and native
societies; these massive epidemics slowly brought growth to the world. The Columbian Exchange by
Alfred W. Crosby, is an article that shows the statistics and impacts that the Columbian exchange had
on those who lived during it, as well as the people who came generations after. Crosby explains how
these diseases impacted Native Americans by saying,Qte 1: Smallpox was the worst and most
spectacular of the infectious diseases mowing down the

What Role Does Keee s Baby Play In Children Of Men
Children of Men, a film directed by Alfonso Cuaron, is about what happens when society is faced with
overwhelming despair through the knowledge that the human race will soon come to an end because
they are no longer able to reproduce. The film explores themes such as hope and faith. While Children
of Men, is not a religious film it has religious undertones and much of the symbolism in the movie is
related to Christianity.
The film focuses on the journey of Theo Faron, an everyday man and also former political activist, as
he tries to restore hope in humanity by protecting Kee, a miraculously pregnant woman in an infertile
world. Theo s name is the same for the Greek word God but he also has many similarities to Jesus as a
messiah. His character is loved by animals, they gently approach him and throughout the film he is

She can represent the Virgin Mary. It can be said that they cannot be compared because Kee is not a

of the final scenes in the film. Kee walks out of a building under attack with Theo by her side and her
newborn child in her arms. When people in the building see her child, something that they haven t
seen in eighteen years, they immediately begin to pray. When they step out of the building and the
soldiers see the baby in Kee s arms they order to seize fire. This signifies how Kee s child is a messiah
because she is saving humanity and reassuring them there is still hope for the human race. Another
example of her character representing the Virgin Mary can be Kee naming her daughter after Theo s
deceased son. With Theo representing God, Kee s baby can be seen as being named after the son of

Qualitative Data Collection Methods Paper
Qualitative data collection method is the method I would use to answer my research question: How
does text messaging effect teen literacy? I would choose this method over quantitative because
qualitative methods are lead with first hand observations for a wide range of behaviors. The
hypothesis is broad and looks to describe the entire picture. It helps us to understand the world we live
in and explains why things are the way they are. This type of research is primary gathering
information for the early stages of a question. One of the major reasons for doing qualitative research
is to become more experienced with the phenomenon you are interested in.
Qualitative data collections are particularly helpful when the event is not of importance, but rather
how the event may influence a sequence of other actions. Describing the complicated phenomena is
not the goal of a qualitative research, but rather to distinguish ideas as to why and how a specific
phenomenon operates as it does in a precise situation.
Qualitative research involves capturing the complexity of behavior that occurs in natural settings
while the opposite goal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Trojan War
Did the Trojan War occur?
The existence of a war in Troy is undeniable; however it is not the Trojan war of Homer s Iliad. It is
believed that Homer s account may have been based on a real event therefore having some truth but
due to the mythological nature of the source, the unreliability of oral transmission and the exaggerated
romantic theme, the account is not a valid source for historians. Written evidence such as the Hittite
records and the different theories presented by archaeologists Schliemann, Dorpfield, Blegen and
Korfmann strongly suggest the occurrence of a war in troy and have some links to the Iliad. Despite
these links, there is only enough evidence to support the existence of a war in Troy but not explicitly

Heinrich Schliemann was one of the first archaeologists who discovered the site based on geological
descriptions in Homer s Iliad. Through the excavation of the site, Schliemann uncovered nine major
layers on the mound and concluded that level 2 was Homer s Troy. Archaeologists who came later
criticised Schliemann s amateurish excavation methods and concluded that level two was too early to
be the Homeric Troy. Despite Schliemann s destruction and false claims of the site, his discovery of
Hissarlik proved that there is some truth to Homer s account and deserves some credit for setting the
foundation for archaeologists such as Blegen, Dorpfield and Korfmann. Schliemann s discovery of the
site proved that there is no doubt Troy existed and that the city s destruction was definite.
Wilhelm Dorpfield was one of many archaeologists who began excavations and studies at Hissarlik.
Level VI was the level that Dorpfield believes is the legendary Troy. He argued that Level VI fitted
Homer s description as being a grand city surrounded by high limestone walls. However, there was no
evidence of Greek camps outside the walls of the city that supported Homer s account of a ten year
siege, thus leading us to conclude that Level VIIa must ve been the Homeric Troy. Layers of charcoal
uncovered by Korfmann that dated to roughly 1250 BC, the approximate end of Homer s Troy is

Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple Analysis
The Hsi Lai Buddhist temple is located in Hacienda Heights and is the largest Buddhist temple in the
West. The building was constructed to be a religious site by a Buddhist organization in Taiwan. The
first thing that catches the attention, is the Chinese architecture of the temple and all of the Chinese
words on the outside of the temple. The words on the four pillars of the gate, represent the four
Bodhisattva vows the Buddhists take to complete enlightenment. There are many rooms on the outside
of the temple that look like they may be used for teaching or for programs being run at the temple.

The temple contains the images of many bodhisattvas,Buddha s, and disciples. The images of the
Buddha s and bodhisattvas are the focus of the rooms and outside. For example, in the main shrine and
Bodhisattva hall, the focus are the images. Another example is the garden of the eighteen arhats in
which the Buddha is surrounded by his first disciples. The other garden that is in the temple is the
Vessel of Compassion for Universal Liberation. The main image in this garden is that of
Avalofitesvara Bodhisattva. The other images depicted are of heaven kings. The bodhisattva is
important because the vows of this Bodhisattva are of a compassionate mind and the power of
wisdom. This bodhisattva answers the prayers of sentient beings no matter where they are and
manifests in different forms. These eighteen arhats extinguished all defilements and afflictions. They
had reached nirvana and their righteousness is exemplary to all Buddhists. Comparatively, symbols
play an important role in buddhism and we can see this through the offers made to the Buddha s and
bodhisattvas. For example, incense symbolizes inner peace, a lamp offering symbolizes the
brightening of our vision and the enhancement of our wisdom. In addition, in the images, mudras or
certain objects are a symbol of important rules to follow. Such as in image of the Bodhisattva
Samantabhadra, the elephant symbolizes practice. The sounds that are used are that of instruments
during the service in the main shrine and the sound of bells which usually mark the initiation of a
service or other announcements. Furthermore, the smells that are used throughout the temple are
incense. Incense is used as an offering and it is meant to help the Buddhist concentrate and focus on

The Theme Of Madness In Hamlet And Shakespeare s Hamlet
Shakespeare is known for the many reoccurring themes in his tragedies. One such theme is that of
love causing madness. One prime example of this is Ophelia s downfall in Hamlet. Hamlet has been
transformed into motion pictures any times, and two show the theme of madness in Ophelia in
different ways: the 1990 version of Hamlet created by Zeffirelli and the 1996 version by Branagh.
While both actresses that played Ophelia conveyed the madness well, they took different approaches
in terms of vocal inflections and movements. The directors also took different approaches to portray
madness like costumes and settings. Lastly, while Bonham Carter s Ophelia in 1990 shows some
ambiguity in the reasons behind her madness, Blanchett s Ophelia in 1996 does not.
The major scene that shows the madness Ophelia has descended into is in act four scene five. The two
portrayals by Helen Bonham Carter and Kate Blanchett are quite different as shown by their acting of
this scene. First, Bonham Carter s movements appear much more calculated than Blanchett s
movements, as Blanchett primarily lies on the ground trashing out in a random manner. Bonham
Carter, on the other hand, walks around the set with a purposeful stride (witchywoman4u12, 2011).
Next, they also speak quite differently. Blanchett screams the majority of the speech and speaks with
an inflection that speaks of unsureness. Bonham Carter speaks with a calmer tone like she knows
exactly what she is saying. Lastly, when Ophelia has interactions between herself and another
character like her conversations with Gertrude and Claudius, Blanchett s Ophelia appears to be
unaware of her surroundings and other people initiate the conversations (Aaron Bradford, 2013).
Unlike the 1996 version, Bonham Carter gets up close to people when she is talking to them, and
initiates the conversations between herself and Claudius and Gertrude. This happens during Ophelia s
lines, Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark...How should I your true love know From another
one? By his cockle hat and staff, And his sandal shoon...Say you? nay, pray you, mark. He is dead and
gone, lady, He is dead and gone; At his head a grass green turf, At his heels a stone, (IV.v,

Utilitarianism By John Stuart Mill
Analysis Paper 2 In the essay Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill, he explains his support for
utilitarianism and argues any misconceptions of it. In his essay he talks about the difference between
higher and lower pleasures and what significance they have in his utilitarian moral theory. His theory
is based on the rule that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as
they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. Many people experience different kinds of pleasure and
he talks about how they can differ in quality and quantity. Mills talks about higher and lower pleasures
and what they mean. Higher and lower pleasures are two things that bring someone pleasure but
pleasure one brings greater pleasure than pleasure 2. Although pleasure 2 brings the person happiness,
pleasure 1 has a greater affect on their happiness and the person will always choose pleasure 1. Even
is the quantity is greater in pleasure two they will still choose pleasure one because of the quality.
Typically when someone experiences the higher pleasure they will not choose the lower pleasure
when given the option. Once people have experienced a higher pleasure they will never want to go
back to choosing the lower pleasure except in extreme circumstances. For example someone might get
pleasure from eating McDonalds, but one day they decide to go to chipotle instead and find out that
they like it much better than McDonalds. The next time that person is hungry and having to

Trans Between Trans And Trans Students
Historically, trans students have had a difficult time in having adequate bathroom access. Many
schools do not have policies that allow trans students to use the bathroom that matches their gender
identity. This creates a difficult learning experience for the trans student, because they are put into
uncomfortable situations. Trans students are more often than not to use the bathroom and locker that
matches their biological sex and not their gender identity. They are then placed into a bathroom that is
not for their gender, it is the same as forcing a man to use the women s restroom. It further enforces
that there is a gender binary, that is a socially accepted norm, and that trans students are not a part of

Ethics Involved. Ethics play an important role in leadership, they allow for service organizations to
work towards the common good. (Manning, 2003). What is a social good? The social goods produced
through the human service sector strengthen individuals, families, organizations, and communities
through the services provided in health and mental health care, education, social welfare, criminal
justice, and many other fields of practice (Manning, 2003). Where do ethics come into play for the
transgender students, who no longer have adequate bathroom and locker room access? Who decides
what is ethical when decisions like this are made? In this case it is President Donald Trump is the
leader. It is the responsibility of the leader to make ethical decisions that benefit the good in society.
(Manning, 2003). When President Trump made his ruling to make trans bathroom access in schools a
state decision instead of a federal one, he is putting 150,000 students in harms way. Now that trans
bathroom access in schools is in the hands of the state, it is now their responsibility to shoulder the
blame for the consequences of the removal of trans students from Title IX. By not allowing trans

who suffers from insomnia.
If the normal rhythm of sleeping time is impaired, our body needs time to regain it. Also, we should be

as accurate as the other group. This study concludes that action video game players brains are more
efficient at collecting visual and auditory information and make faster and just as accurate decisions
(Video Games Lead to Faster Decisions). The study stated that the reason why action video game

My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay
My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis
My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a
portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his
former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the
duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up
reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely,
kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant.
The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader
a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking
as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses
clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in
which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is
written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The
reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a
cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess.
But, what did the duchess do that disturbed him so

concern over espionage diminished with the demise of the U.S.S.R. These past threats were concerns
over the use of technology by governments that had sufficient resources to use the technology for
sinister purposes. The new threat is not technology in the hands of government, it is technology alone.
What once required massive manpower, now requires merely a personal computer. Technology has
made the power to monitor others widely available, whether to governments, private enterprise or
individuals. This article discusses some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ECPA prohibits the interception by (1) unauthorized individuals or (2) individuals working for a
government entity, acting without a proper warrant. The ECPA is mostly concerned with the
unauthorized access by employees or corporate competitors trying to find out valuable information.
However, while there is no specific prohibition in the ECPA for an employer to monitor the e mail of
employees, the ECPA does not specifically exempt employers. The ECPA has several exceptions to the
application of the prohibition of interception of electronic communications. The three most relevant to
the workplace are (1) where one party consents, (2) where the provider of the communication service
can monitor communications, and (3) where the monitoring is done in the ordinary course of business.
The first exception, consent, can be implied or actual. Several courts have placed a fairly high
standard for establishing implied consent. For example one court held that knowledge of the capability
of monitoring alone cannot be considered implied consent. Accordingly, for an employer to ensure the
presence of actual consent, it should prepare, with advice of counsel, a carefully worded e mail Policy
Statement which explains the scope of employer monitoring. This Policy Statement should be signed
by the employees. One example of how this

Buchnera Aphidicol Southern Blot Analysis
Aphids possess bacteriocytes that are specific to its obligate mutualist, Buchnera aphidicola. It seems
that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis, Nikoh and
Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome. Through
detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts were
determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to multiple
bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria (E. Coli)
possess these genes. Nikoh and Nakabachi were able to conclude that they found several pieces of
evidence that show that aphids are indeed able to acquire genes from bacteria through lateral gene
transfer. They also claim that these genes are used to maintain their obligate mutualistic relationship
with the bacteria, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
show similar results in another study. The same species as the one mentioned before, Buchnera
aphidicola has a highly reduced genome, which increases the chances that gene transfer occurred from
the bacteria to the aphid. Using the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, they were able to provide
stronger support of the transfer of 12 genes from the bacteria to the aphid genome. While they were
able to identify this transfer between the pea aphid and the bacteria, they found that none of these
genes were transferred between Buchnera and the aphid, just like in the previous study. Sandstrom et
al. looked at different ways this gene transfer could have occurred. Insects in general usually host
secondary bacterial symbionts along with primary endosymbionts. Both symbionts are maternally
transmitted. Their results showed that a community of bacteria invades aphid cells and are transmitted
both vertically and horizontally among other aphid lineages. They present other potential possibilities
of transfer through ingestion from plant surfaces and plant

Abominations In Frankenstein
Nobody has ever truly seen this elusive, sleek, and enigmatic hero yet stories of his magnificent deeds
used to spread among the darkness like wild fire in a forest lush with trees. They say he only appears
in the high tide of midnight where his costume is utterly obscure and furtive; The cover of darkness
and all of its inhabitants who dwell are abominations who d scare even the most seasoned heroes are
frightened by the monstrous booming of his every step and his whirlwind like breath. Shockingly, he
isn t an evil hero as he keeps those abominations at bay through either his silver tongue or his
unfathomable sheer strength that can rival that of ten thousand tanks. Although most of his deeds are
done in the blind spot of humans he nonetheless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man then suddenly glistened with joy as he thought his efforts bore fruition. The joy was short
lived however as The Shadow began to speak with a thunderous voice and said, you have become the
embodiment of the crass blob like creature that tried to kill you once. You are now a creature of the
night as your heart is foul and forever wretched. And just as The Shadow said his final word he melted
into the shadows and back into the shadowy dominion in which he reigned. The man apparently took
no heed to The Shadow s words as all of the guilt and regret he had felt earlier had just washed away
like a shell on the sand of a shore. He laughed hysterically and madly as he planned to meet The
Shadow once again and again. The Shadow now aware of the man s sinister future efforts decided to
take matters into his own hands. He arose once more from the shadows and confronted the man just as
he was about to reach for the door handle which led outside and towards his next victim. The Shadow
thunderously said I have vowed to never harm or kill a human being, however you are no longer
human and must be stopped. I regret saving your life. The Shadow then proceeded to raise both of his
hands and grip the man s neck with enough force to easily break his neck and drop his already soulless
body onto the hardwood floor. After that incident The Shadow hasn t mentally been the same and is
now referred among the darkness and its abominations as the Grim

The Corruption Of Saddam Hussein
Throughout history corruption has been laid upon many countries changing it in numerous ways. This
corruption derives through certain people, creating a havoc for those having to follow orders set by
leaders they blindly follow. In Iraq, citizens have been tortured, forced to relocate their families,
arrested and murdered. All of this happened under the control of Saddam Hussein and we have neither
found, nor did he offer an explanation to these actions. He has been notorious for attacking people
who disagreed with his opinions, especially other politicians that would give any sort of competition
to access leadership for Iraq. He is responsible for persecuting and denying his own citizens human
rights. Not only physically but financially, spending all of the countries money on monuments and
palaces as he watches his people die from malnutrition and lack of medical attention.
Saddam Hussein was born on April 28, 1937 in a village called Ouja, near Tikrit in Northern Iraq, He
grew up in a broken home, His family was poor, they were peasants who did not have a home. He
grew up without a father, it is unknown if his father died or disappeared when he was younger. When
he was still a child, he was sent to live with his uncle, Khairallah Tulfah, who made a deep impact on
what Hussein later did in his life. There is proof that Saddam was connected to violence at an early
age. There are several reports that link him to the murders of a school teacher and/or a

Menstruation History
During menstruation throughout history, the progression of menstrual products has subjugated women
to unimaginable methods. In ancient Egypt, women used softened papyrus tampons, while the Greeks
utilized lint wrapped around small pieces of wood, and the Romans wore pads and tampons made of
soft wool. Considered impure in the Jewish culture during biblical times, the proclivity of physically
separating women from men during menstruation is habitual, as well as any object they touched or sat
on. These fads were perpetuated in Europe in the 1800s. With a more natural approach, women during
this period allowed their menstruation to bleed into their clothing. Creatively, women used homemade
pads in America, during the 1900s, similar to baby diapers: Others wore menstrual pad belts secured
by suspenders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three major organic companies that sell natural menstrual products are GladRags, Natracare, and
Organic Essentials. On the go, these small companies offer disposable cotton pads and organic
tampons. While others may consider as taboo, reusable alternatives are made of Cloth, sponge or
menstrual cup; safer for the environment and the consumer. Many of these non commercialized
menstrual products do not contain dioxin or pesticides, unfortunately, they vary in price as well as
accessibility, from limited marketing and awareness. Ruminating the options by consumers, cultural
and economic factors play a role. For over a decade, commercialized products have conveniently been
available through the media and advertising. Even more important to note, natural feminine hygiene
products are available and considered a safer approach to menstruation. Preserving the health of the
female anatomy should be considered, for the benefit of future

Apartheid In South Africa Dbq
During the period of Apartheid in South Africa between 1948 and 1994 the reactions of the South
African citizens towards the legal separation of races varied depending on race, ideals and time period.
After gold and diamonds were fud inSouthAfrica both the dutch and British wanted the land to
themselves, leading to the Boer War from which the Dutch farmers emerged victorious. Following the
Boer War and the creation of the Union of South Africa in 1910, the Dutch Boers gained control over
the majority of the land in the previously British Cape Colony along with the settlements they had
already built, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. Blacks in South Africa made up about eighty
percent of the population but only lived on ten percent of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Archbishop Desmond Tutu was one of these people and Doc 7 showed a 1984 speech to the United
Nations Security Council where he addressed the possibility of a new society for all people in South
Africa. 1984 was the year P.W. Botha became president and began his police state and South Africa
was still yet to see the worst atrocities of the Apartheid struggle. Tutu believed that the only reason the
whites in South Africa were cruel to the blacks was because they were scared; they were outnumbered
and after the ancestors of the white population had fought against the natives for decades their fear
was only reinforced through stories of the barbaric Africans. They were also scared that if given the
opportunity the blacks would drive them out of South Africa and out of their land of birth. Tutu
suggested a new nation in which all people were equal as they were created in the image of god and
where the government was truly democratic. Because Desmond Tutu had lived through the entire
period of Apartheid and was a leader of the back christian community in South Africa he would have
seen and understood the feelings the people of South Africa had toward Apartheid. He would have
also strived to implicate Christian beliefs of equality back into the hearts of the white people and end
the use of violence. One year before Desmond Tutu s speech a new political party formed called the
United Democratic Front. This party was a non racial and anti Apartheid organization which
specifically opposed the Tricameral parliament which allowed coloured and asian south Africans
minimal representation while the black population was still excluded. The Poster for the United
Democratic front shown in Doc 9 gave an image to the blacks in South Africa that

The Secret to Being a Graphic Designer
Graphic designers are the people who make logos and pictures for companies. For example, some
graphic designers might make the picture for a restaurant logo. If a picture is made badly, and doesn t
attract you to it, that company is probably not going to get a lot of negative effects on their company.
Graphic designers should be good with computers and art. Many graphic designers develop things for
advertising related things, and they need to create things that really stand out. Most graphic designers

Knowledge is an intangible asset for any organization,...
Knowledge is an intangible asset for any organization, composed of both a tacit and explicit aspects
that are developed in a continuum throughout the life of a organization (Nonaka, Krogh, 2009). This
process can serve as; a competitive advantage, creator a superior financial value, enhancer of
creativity, developer of novel products or techniques, or functioning as a transformational vector
inside a corporation. Being a collective and individual activity working through socialization,
externalization, combination, and internalization (Nonaka, Takeuchi, 1999), tacit and explicit

Complementing this social process is the theory elaborated by Hofstede (1980) regarding the cultural
dimensions of respective national culture influencing the behaviours of individual and group inside
organizations. Based initially on four principles later enhanced with a fifth element detailed as
follows, power distance (PDI), individualism/collectivism (IDV), uncertainty avoidance (UAI),
masculinity/femininity (MAS), and long term orientation (LTO). Those have been studied in a horde
of diverse contexts and analysed in a multiplicity of different angles. For the purpose of this study and
to avoid a theoretical dispersion in the realm of this complex and vast theory only two aspects have
been retained to be the central emphasis of the exploration. Power distance (PDI) and individualism
(IDV) were recollected to evaluate their impact on the process of knowledge transfer (KT) within the
cohort of young Chinese people born after 1980.
China possesses a vast territory composed of an extensive range of ethnicities and has been influenced

Evaluation Of Single Cylinder Direct Injection Essay
This paper presents exergetic evaluation of single cylinder direct injection, water cooled diesel engine
at varying operating conditions. Normally, first law of thermodynamics has been used to analyze the
engine cycle process. However recent research indicates that the first law of thermodynamics is
inadequate to study the diesel engine performance. Exergy analysis is used to determine in detail the
amounts of losses in a system and locations where they occur, and the processes that cause them so the
application of exergy analysis for diesel engine allows determining the sources of irreversibilities and
obtaining more accurate information about engine efficiency. An Exergy based performance analysis
is based on the second law of thermodynamics that overcomes the limitation of an energy based
analysis.
Consider the advantages of second law of thermodynamics over first law, this study includes exergy
analysis of single cylinder, 4 stroke, water cooled, on a single cylinder 8.1 kW direct injection, diesel
engine. In this study first and second laws of thermodynamics ae applied to analyze the quantity and
quality of energy in diesel engine cycle. The experimental data were collected using steady state test
condition which enables the accurate measurements of air, fuel, and cling water flow rates, engine
load, and all relevant temperatures. Each experiment was performed at five different speeds between
1300 rev/min and 2400 rev/min at intervals of 300 rev/min for five different

People are having unprotected sex and passing these viruses from one parent to another every day and they don t even know it s happening. There is a vaccination called Gardasil that can prevent HPV for teenage girl, woman and teenage males now. Gardasil should be mandated for parents for vaccinating their children for these viruses. For all ages between 9 26 years, this vaccination is the best method to prevent HPV infection and the risk of HPV related diseases (CDC 2014). Gardasil should be a required immunization for getting into middle school or high school requirements. This vaccine is saving people from different kinds of ... • 4. Long Term Memory Research Learning is to gain or acquire knowledge or skill by study, experience, or being taught. This leads to long term changes in our behavior. Psychological studies in learning normally occupy laboratory experiments and thus use animals as participants. It is commonly known that learning applies not just to humans, but also for animals. If you have ever owned a pet, you probably noticed that they pick things up fairly easily. For example, if you have a particular feeding time and location for a dog, they usually become familiar with the location of where they need to go in order to be fed. For us humans, our brain capacity enables us to critically think faster and better; as a result, our learning capability extends beyond the range of necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, there are debates as to whether we actually forget anything at all, or whether it just becomes increasingly difficult to access or retrieve certain items from our memory. Short term memories can become long term memory through the process of consolidation; this involves participation and significant association. However, there is some evidence that long term memory also record to sound to some extent. For example, when you cannot quite remember the words to a certain song, but it is on the tip of my tongue, this is usually based on the sound of a word; not it s meaning. But what does our memory have to do with the way that we learn new information? We lose and acquire information through an information processing system in our brain. This system identifies how we store, encode, and retrieve information. So when we learn, this entails converting the new information into long term memory. Much of what we believe we have learned is soon forgotten or was never really learned in the first place, due to short term memory. The specific strategies you use to store and remember information in your long term memory affects how likely it is that you will actually remember it. This is where we begin to study the information that is needed to be learned to prevent it from fading over time. By re analyzing the information that is needed to be learned, we repetitively update and renew the information already know until we no longer need to. According to Aaron S. Benjamin s The Psychology of Learning, we lose about fifty percent of what we learn within a twenty four hour period because of our short term memory. Therefore, unless you frequently study and review the information over and over again, it will be lost. This all plays into how we truly receive the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Depression In William Wordsworth I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. • 6. Susan Cain Introverts Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can t Stop Talking In Quiet, Susan Cain (2013) argues that we undervalue introverts, and therefore she attempts to show us how much we lose by doing so. She describes the rise of the extrovert culture in the 21st century and explains how deeply it has influenced our culture. Additionally, she introduces an example of successful introverts from a high figure who recharges in loneliness after his talks then to a record breaking sales associate who taps into the questioning power. Passionately argued and well researched, Quiet attempts to permanently change our perspectives towards introverts, and most importantly, make introverts change how they see themselves. In this task, I am going to summarize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example is seeking compensation from a lottery jackpot and enjoying and evening with close friends. Rewards motivate individuals to apply for sex and money, social status and, influence. However, sometimes people are too sensitive to rewards, which is an overdrive that gets people into all forms of trouble. Extroverted clients are more likely to be reward sensitive while introverts are likely to pay more attention to warning signals. They are more successful in regulating their behavior, and usually, they protect themselves from the downside. Extroverts are characterized by their tendency to seek reward from top status to sexual rewards and cold cash. Most importantly to introverts, they socialize because human connection is gratifying. Extroverts rush for energized and anxious feelings. Cain describes dopamine as the reward chemical released in response to anticipated pleasures. The Dopamine of extroverts appears to be more active than those of introverts. Also, Cain argues that introverts are better than extroverts in delaying gratification. Reward sensitive extroverts focus on achieving their goals and don t want any challenge to get in their way. They speed up to meet their goals on time and to eliminate challenges along their way. In contrast, introverts are programmed to downplay reward and scan for problems. They tend to compare new information with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

San Pedro is a port town lying southbound of Los Angeles; in the 1920s, it consisted of predominantly working class Italian and Yugoslavian immigrants. However, the Nakaharas never experienced the ostracization other Asian Americans did, for most residents shared the centripetal immigrant experience. Kochiyama and her brothers lived an expressedly American existence in their early years, in essence bleeding red, white, and blue. In October 1963, she befriended Malcolm X whilst being arraigned inside a Brooklyn courthouse; her arrest had stemmed from her participance in a Brooklyn protest at the Downstate Medical Center, where she and hundreds of other protesters blocked a construction site entrance, demanding jobs for black and Puerto Rican workers. She felt apprehensive when she first saw Malcolm, as he was encircled by a circle of black men, and she didn t know if she could approach him because she wasn t black. Despite this, she introduced herself to him, and boldly inquired if he might support integration, ( Yuri Kochiyama , Densho Encyclopedia). Malcolm and Kochiyama began to foster a friendship that would drastically change Kochiyama, both ideologically and politically. Later in 1964, Malcolm broke with the Nation of Islam, founding the Organization for Afro American Unity, which Kochiyama quickly became a part of. She was incredibly drawn to Malcolm s political beliefs. She began inviting him to her many apartment gatherings. Kochiyama regarded Malcolm as both fellow colleague and exemplar to follow. He instilled in her a fervent politic of racism s hold in U.S. as well as world policies and actions. She took a marked respect for Malcolm: his adherence to his principles, as well as a supplicatory respect to grow as a person, bonded the two strongly. • 8. The Legal Drinking Age Of The United States The Legal Drinking Age The legal drinking age in the United States is 21, while in other countries the legal age ranges from 16 18. The argument in the United States is, Should the United States lower its drinking age? There are many sides to this argument but research has given many good points to back up both sides of the question. First issue is the difference between a teen s brain with alcohol and an adult s brain with alcohol. Another concern is that drinking at a younger age can help teach culture. Lastly, the more alcohol that people are exposed to, there is an increase in death rate. I believe that it is a good idea to keep the legal drinking age at age 21 because in our past we have had many problems with increased deaths due to the drinking age being at different ages. My research used uses pathos, logos, ethos and kairos to help persuade the reader that 21 should stay the legal drinking age. First, one reason the drinking age is 21 is because the United States Mothers Against Drunk Driving program wants to make sure a teen s brain develops to maturity in order for them to be able to drink alcohol. The argument that congress had in the 70 s was, If young Americans could be entrusted to vote, serve on a jury and fight in Vietnam, why couldn t they order a beer? (Griggs). If Americans are allowed to vote, fight in the wars and serve on jury all at the age of 18, what is the difference in them being able to go out and buy some alcohol? This side of the argument ... AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do grownup things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally grew up , and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven t made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it ll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. • 10. Summary Of The Novel Collapse By Jared Diamond Collapse, a novel by Jared Diamond, discusses current and future problems on Earth to warn readers of what is happening around them. Diamond goes into detail about specific societies, and then analyzes its meaning in the final chapter. Using the title The World as a Polder, he examines twelve major issues that are expected to worsen in the future. These issues include deforestation, overfishing, loss of diversity of species, loss of soil, growth of the human population, and the effect of more people. The limit on energy, freshwater, and sunlight is also mentioned, as well as the challenges brought up by toxic chemicals, alien species, and atmospheric gases. These environmental challenges are so hard to overcome because different people do not want to spend money and time fixing the same dilemmas. A common belief is that these problems are not going to matter anytime soon, so we have no reason to care. However, this is incorrect. We need to act now in order to move past ... Along with this statement, Diamond says, ...rises in living standards in Third World countries whose inhabitants see and covet First World lifestyles; and immigration, both legal and illegal, of individual Third World inhabitants into the First World, driven by political, economic, and social problems at home (505). This poses a problem to the current First World citizens, because it can lower their living standards as well as creating a larger carbon footprint, less food and water, and more crowded cities. Rosalind Franklin Dna Replication Because of her discovery of the B form of DNA, recognition that two states of the DNA molecule existed and defined the conditions for the transition, essentially being literally only two steps away from discovering the structure of DNA herself, Rosalind Franklin deserved to be a co winner of the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Prize in Medicine for elucidating the structure of DNA in such a way that the mechanism for genetic replication was revealed. When Watson saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two were able to complete the model. In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on their X ray data in the same journal issue with Watson and Crick s paper on the structure of DNA. • 12. The Greek Hero Of Fame Greek Hero Essay Why should Perseus be in the Greek Hall of Fame? Who was given gifts by gods and goddesses? Who was almost killed by his grandfather? Whose father was the biggest man on campus? Well, that was Perseus, son of Zeus, and killer of Medusa. Perseus was a descendant of Zeus and Danae, Acrisius, his grandfather did not like him, so he sent him and his mother away in a chest in the ocean. Perseus should be in the Greek Hero Hall of Fame, for multiple different reasons. When considering why he should be in the Greek Hero Hall of Fame, Perseus must be important because if he wasn t why would there be so many books and movies, all about him. For example, Percy Jackson book series and movies, and The Clash of the Titans. Perseus is a Greek hero because he was born of a royal birth, had extreme feats, and died a usual death. To begin, Perseus was born a son of Zeus and Danae, and from the royal families of the Olympians, from Zeus, and Libians, from Danae. Even though, he was born into a royal family, he wasn t wanted in the royal family, since Acrisius sent him away, he really didn t get any power to the royal family. Perseus, was basically excluded from the family. One piece of evidence is, according to Ancient origins.net, it states, His grandfather was the king of Argos, Acrisius, who with his wife, Eurydice, had a daughter Danae. But Acrisius wanted a son. The article entitled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Technology; Sales Demand, Manufacturing and Market Interface (Sharma, 2013) begins by pointing out the importance of businesses being sensitive to customer demand across a variety of markets around the world in order to maintain competitiveness. The responses of increasing capacity or simplifying production are not proving as useful as the strategy of improving the integration of sales demand, manufacturing, and marketing (SDM M), thus making the company more intimately and rapidly responsive to demand. This increased integration involves certain basic questions, such as what process to use to integrate and how to do so. Large companies use ERP technology to achieve SDM M ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spite of these gaps in the research, there is still evidence of the positive effect of the SDM M interface and the speed and quality of information to overcome uncertainties about demand, unpredictable competitors, the timing and novelty of new products, and other relevant questions. Research recommends that dedicated employee positions exist that integrate the three areas, such as a sales and distribution specialist who is expected to provide the materials departments with updates. Companies have been spending large amounts of money on systems that integrate SDM M, making it possible to survey the success of an IT based strategy to address this challenge. By its nature, ERP is a well integrated, cross functional system which lends itself to the types of functions required for integration of the three business functions, demand, manufacturing, and marketing. (Sharma, 2013). There are two basic types of ERP research, implementation oriented and performance oriented. The first type studies what factors foster success in implementing ERP, while the second investigates factors in ERP that affect performance. Research has shown that companies that use ERP outperform those that do not in functional efficiency, productivity, stock market, and financial metrics. Interestingly, ERP is found to have a neutral or negative effect on customer satisfaction and operating expenses. More predictably, general performance dips ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let the test tube sit undisturbed for 2 5 minutes. You should begin to see air bubbles form at the boundary line between the ethanol and the filtered fruit solution. Bubbles will form near the top, and you will eventually see the DNA float to the top of the ethanol. Gently insert the stir stick into the test tube. Slowly raise and lower the tip several times to spool and collect the DNA. If there is an insufficient amount of DNA available, it may not float to the top of the solution in a form that can be easily spooled or removed from the tube. However, the DNA will still be visible as white/clear clusters by gently stirring the solution and pushing the clusters around the top. Post Lab Questions What is the texture and consistency of the DNA DNA is viscous and greasy. Why did we use a salt in the extraction solution High salt makes DNA less soluble in water. In order to dissolve, the water needs to interact with the DNA. Since DNA is quite large, it needs to interact with lots of water for this purpose. When you add salt, the water preferentially interacts with the salt (its small, and can move around in solution easier than the DNA can). This makes it so there is less water available to interact with the DNA and it becomes less soluble. Is the DNA soluble in the aqueous solution or alcohol DNA is less soluble in an alcohol such as isopropanol than it is in water. This is because alcohols are non polar, whereas water is polar. The number of fans increased, which created the need for new stadiums and raised the salary for sports stars. Sports in the 1920s went through many changes in the time period known as the Roaring Twenties. New heroes, new teams, and new leagues were emerging in sports. Some sports were just starting, some were broadening their horizons, while others were just becoming more popular. The media helped to make sports become more popular in the 1920s. Movie houses showed videos of sports contests, which helped create stars. Newspapers and magazines gave the sports reporter a new authority as the media brought information about athletes and athletics to large audiences. Radio broadcasts of college football and professional baseball began early in the 1920s. The media supplied news but also manufactured it and, in the process, created and satisfied an eager audience. The decade was the Golden Age of Sports . The 1920s were a starting foundation for football. The most popular league, the NFL, was formed in the 1920s. On August 20, 1920, the owner of four Ohio league teams met to form a new professional league. On September 17, the team met again, changing its name to APFA (American Professional Football Association). By 1923, the name was changed to the National Football League (NFL). • 16. Physics of Skydiving Essay The Physics of Skydiving What Is Skydiving? Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal. This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving. First we will explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before his jump, second we will try and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation. One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is in the plane. The normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram mass (this is getting close to the maximum weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces in the y, or upward direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the acceleration of Joe must be zero. Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to take his first jump. Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe is now instantly accelerating in the downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to travel at a rapid rate. But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this knowledge, Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation: X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2 Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the acceleration due to gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the acceleration of gravity is always 9.8 m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has traveled at any point in time. • 17. The Media And Its Impact On The Entertainment Industry Essay The mass media has developed into a highly influential platform that relays information to audiences all around the world, but are the images seen in advertisements and television, devaluing individuals by labeling them under stereotypes? In order to truly understand the core of such a question, it is important to first define and solidify some key terms. To begin with, what mediums of mass media will be considered in the analysis of this issue? Specifically, I will attempt to highlight the use of gender stereotypes in the form of visual advertisements, such as magazines and television commercials. I will also be considering the use of gender stereotypes in the entertainment industry, particularly in the making of TV shows and movies. The power of the media in transcending gender related information is well described by Tom Bogt, an interdisciplinary social science researcher, in his scholarly article, Shake It Baby, Shake It, as the fact that the media has become an important source of knowledge for physical, social, and emotional aspects of an individual s development of sexual attitudes, values, and practices (Bogt, 844). Bogt emphasizes that advertisements and media entertainment present a rather unrealistic and skewed account of human romance and sexuality and this account is what forms the attenuating gender stereotypes (Bogt, 844). Now the question arises, what exactly are gender stereotypes? Gender stereotypes are dramatized, overused, and precise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We often see in all aspects the negatives that adversity leads to. So this begs the question, does adversity lead to growth? We see adversity from the Columbian exchange through growing populations and new technology. In the New York Times article by Andrew E. Likewise, in Catherine Hyde s Pay it Forward One will read about the emotional and mental growth people have after Trevor dies which essentially causes the movement to flourish. We see adversity everywhere in life, and although there are many negative consequences that go along with adversity, eventually, it will lead to development and a rise in success. The Columbian exchange had many moving parts to it, however, a largely known negative impact was the massive fatalities diseases spread by trade and exploration had on both Europeans and native societies; these massive epidemics slowly brought growth to the world. The Columbian Exchange by Alfred W. The hypothesis is broad and looks to describe the entire picture. It helps us to understand the world we live in and explains why things are the way they are. This type of research is primary gathering information for the early stages of a question. One of the major reasons for doing qualitative research is to become more experienced with the phenomenon you are interested in. Qualitative data collections are particularly helpful when the event is not of importance, but rather how the event may influence a sequence of other actions. • 29. The Theme Of Madness In Hamlet And Shakespeare s Hamlet Shakespeare is known for the many reoccurring themes in his tragedies. One such theme is that of love causing madness. One prime example of this is Ophelia s downfall in Hamlet. Hamlet has been transformed into motion pictures any times, and two show the theme of madness in Ophelia in different ways: the 1990 version of Hamlet created by Zeffirelli and the 1996 version by Branagh. While both actresses that played Ophelia conveyed the madness well, they took different approaches in terms of vocal inflections and movements. The directors also took different approaches to portray madness like costumes and settings. Lastly, while Bonham Carter s Ophelia in 1990 shows some ambiguity in the reasons behind her madness, Blanchett s Ophelia in 1996 does not. The major scene that shows the madness Ophelia has descended into is in act four scene five. The two portrayals by Helen Bonham Carter and Kate Blanchett are quite different as shown by their acting of this scene. First, Bonham Carter s movements appear much more calculated than Blanchett s movements, as Blanchett primarily lies on the ground trashing out in a random manner. Bonham Carter, on the other hand, walks around the set with a purposeful stride (witchywoman4u12, 2011). Next, they also speak quite differently. Blanchett screams the majority of the speech and speaks with an inflection that speaks of unsureness. Bonham Carter speaks with a calmer tone like she knows exactly what she is saying. Lastly, when Ophelia has interactions between herself and another character like her conversations with Gertrude and Claudius, Blanchett s Ophelia appears to be unaware of her surroundings and other people initiate the conversations (Aaron Bradford, 2013). Unlike the 1996 version, Bonham Carter gets up close to people when she is talking to them, and initiates the conversations between herself and Claudius and Gertrude. This happens during Ophelia s lines, Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark...How should I your true love know From another one? • 30. Utilitarianism By John Stuart Mill Analysis Paper 2 In the essay Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill, he explains his support for utilitarianism and argues any misconceptions of it. In his essay he talks about the difference between higher and lower pleasures and what significance they have in his utilitarian moral theory. His theory is based on the rule that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. Many people experience different kinds of pleasure and he talks about how they can differ in quality and quantity. Mills talks about higher and lower pleasures and what they mean. Higher and lower pleasures are two things that bring someone pleasure but pleasure one brings greater pleasure than pleasure 2. Although pleasure 2 brings the person happiness, pleasure 1 has a greater affect on their happiness and the person will always choose pleasure 1. Even is the quantity is greater in pleasure two they will still choose pleasure one because of the quality. Typically when someone experiences the higher pleasure they will not choose the lower pleasure when given the option. Once people have experienced a higher pleasure they will never want to go back to choosing the lower pleasure except in extreme circumstances. • 31. Trans Between Trans And Trans Students Historically, trans students have had a difficult time in having adequate bathroom access. Many schools do not have policies that allow trans students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. This creates a difficult learning experience for the trans student, because they are put into uncomfortable situations. Trans students are more often than not to use the bathroom and locker that matches their biological sex and not their gender identity. They are then placed into a bathroom that is not for their gender, it is the same as forcing a man to use the women s restroom. It further enforces that there is a gender binary, that is a socially accepted norm, and that trans students are not a part of it. Students should all feel ... The social goods produced through the human service sector strengthen individuals, families, organizations, and communities through the services provided in health and mental health care, education, social welfare, criminal justice, and many other fields of practice (Manning, 2003). Where do ethics come into play for the transgender students, who no longer have adequate bathroom and locker room access? Who decides what is ethical when decisions like this are made? In this case it is President Donald Trump is the leader. It is the responsibility of the leader to make ethical decisions that benefit the good in society. (Manning, 2003). When President Trump made his ruling to make trans bathroom access in schools a state decision instead of a federal one, he is putting 150,000 students in harms way. This study concludes that action video game players brains are more efficient at collecting visual and auditory information and make faster and just as accurate decisions (Video Games Lead to Faster Decisions). The study stated that the reason why action video game players can make faster decisions is because they use a process that is probabilistic inference. • 34. My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely, kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant. The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess. • 39. Buchnera Aphidicol Southern Blot Analysis Aphids possess bacteriocytes that are specific to its obligate mutualist, Buchnera aphidicola. It seems that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis, Nikoh and Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome. Through detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts were determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to multiple bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria (E. Coli) possess these genes. Tutu believed that the only reason the whites in South Africa were cruel to the blacks was because they were scared; they were outnumbered and after the ancestors of the white population had fought against the natives for decades their fear was only reinforced through stories of the barbaric Africans. Normally, first law of thermodynamics has been used to analyze the engine cycle process. However recent research indicates that the first law of thermodynamics is inadequate to study the diesel engine performance. Exergy analysis is used to determine in detail the amounts of losses in a system and locations where they occur, and the processes that cause them so the application of exergy analysis for diesel engine allows determining the sources of irreversibilities and obtaining more accurate information about engine efficiency. An Exergy based performance analysis is based on the second law of thermodynamics that overcomes the limitation of an energy based analysis. Consider the advantages of second law of thermodynamics over first law, this study includes exergy analysis of single cylinder, 4 stroke, water cooled, on a single cylinder 8.1 kW direct injection, diesel engine. In this study first and second laws of thermodynamics ae applied to analyze the quantity and quality of energy in diesel engine cycle. The experimental data were collected using steady state test condition which enables the accurate measurements of air, fuel, and cling water flow rates, engine load, and all relevant temperatures. Each experiment was performed at five different speeds between 1300 rev/min and 2400 rev/min at intervals of 300 rev/min for five different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
