Cathedrals
Construction of cathedrals started around the 11 century. The first cathedrals were built in France and later its style and
architecture extended across Europe. During the medieval times people were going through economic tribulations.
There was absolutely no trade going and people where ingrained in the manors they served. It was as if all that existed
was just what was behind the castle walls. Until the construction of cathedrals came forth this gave people faith and
hope that their lives will prosper. People traveled outside and went on pilgrimages to savor the elegant and massive
cathedrals. Towns were being established and the feudal system was diminishing. The towns offered freedom and job
opportunities for people so they set out to move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A young boy named Pierre saves the veil of the Virgin from the flames. Afterwards plan for the construction of a new
cathedral are implemented by the Bishop Phillipe, Pierre, and members of the chapter. Bishop Phillipe awards Pierre
chronicle of the construction of North Dame. The Bishop donates funds for the construction of the cathedral and he and
Pierre manage to receive funds from the Merchant Thibaut. Merchants in this time were somewhat wealthy. Pierre and
the Bishop hire a construction manager by the name of Master Guillaume who is responsible for many cathedrals that
have been built around France. Master Guillaume explains the foundations and structure of the cathedral to Pierre and
the Bishop and they are eager to begin construction and relish the holy cathedral. Each and every year Pierre writes the
advancements in the construction and says that the cathedral will be a blessing by God. Years later Bishop Phillipe dies
and the new Bishop Gervais comes. Bishop Gervais is the exact opposite of Phillipe he is materialistic and can care less
for the construction of the cathedral. During this time the construction problems arise because there is a shortage of
materials manly stones and there are now funds available. Members of the chapter discover that Bishop Gervais is
using funds for his personal use and plan on writing a letter to the Pope about this matter. Bishop Gervais somehow
finds out and gives funds to Master Guillaume for stones but for low quality ones. Years pass and Pierre is now a
Father Pierre. As the years go by the characters grow older and Master Guillaume now supervises the construction of
the cathedral from the lower level. As Master Guillaume is in the lower level an accident occurs and part of the
cathedral collapses and Guillaume is killed by it. It is discovered that the cause of the accident was due to using

Josef Mengele s Research
Throughout World War II, multiple Nazi researchers and physicians experimented upon thousands of concentration
camp prisoners, in painful and often deadly ways. Arguably the most horrific of them all was Dr. Josef Mengele and his
experiments conducted on twins, dwarfs, and prisoners with physical abnormalities. Mengele s primary aim in research
was to prove that certain traits such as eye colour, obesity, and nasal features were inherited and thusly could be bred
out of existence. This interest stemmed from the Nazi obsession with a pure race, which ultimately led to the extreme
violation and sterilization of undesirable groups . (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84)
The Ethics

One of the main issues is whether or not it is ethically sound to use the results of the medical research that the Nazi s
conducted during World War II; there is much debate on this topic, with some saying that the research should not be
used because most of the experiments were not well designed, which would result in data that is valueless. Others
argue that although the data may have value, it is not ethical to use it because of the horrible ways in which the data
was obtained. (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84). Another lesson that can be imparted from the occurrences of the Holocaust is the
need for some type of regulation on a global scale of the research and medical practices taking place all over the world;
although this is a very complicated and difficult practice, and although the vast majority of researchers would never
commit such atrocities, if researchers such as Josef Mengele are left to carry out any experiments and procedures that
they wish, the consequences could be terrible. Research cannot be carried out unchecked; there have to be ethical
guidelines in place and these guidelines have to be enforced in some

Hultgren Construction Collapse Case Study
Summary: On December 2nd around 10:30 a.m., a building in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota collapsed. Fear
stuck the hearts of many as they heard the deafening collapse of a downtown building on 10th Street and Phillips
Avenue. Many first responders and police quickly moved to try and find survivors. Hundreds of people waited for
survivors to be pulled out from the debris. Cheers erupted when three hours after the collapse, firefighters found Emily
Fodness alive underneath the rubble. Sadly, Ethan McMahon, a construction worker, was found dead underneath the
rubble almost five and a half hours after Emily was rescued. Hultgren Construction is under investigation for causing
the collapse.
Response:

They were only allowed to move things out of the bar area where they were doing the construction. The permit they
received did not allow for any structural work to be done, yet they posted a picture on Facebook of themselves working
on a load bearing wall. They were blatantly disobeying the law by working on the wall. Others with a construction
background and had seen a picture of the construction on the wall say that Hultgren Construction did not have i beams
and other equipment that are necessary when working with a load bearing wall. It appears that they did not know how
to do their job properly. It is sad that the Hultgren Construction company went against the law and others had to pay for
the company s mistake. Hultgren Construction has had not previous safety violations. It is unfortunate that their first
violation caused a fatality.
There was many things that happened as a result of this building collapse and many things will happen in the future as
a result of it. This catastrophic event caused the area surrounding the collapsed building to close down as there were
fears that the surrounding buildings damaged from the rubble might also collapse. This event lead to Ethan McMahon s
death. His death may spur South Dakota legislatures to create stricter construction laws and have more restrictions on
permits. The collapse might prompt people to tear down the neighboring buildings due to the fears that they are
unstable and may also

A Short Note On The E Commerce Market
1. Critically analyze the factors that led to Alibaba sustaining its leadership position in the Chinese e commerce market.
During the late 1990 s and early 2000 s, the internet was not very popular in China and people were ignorant to its
proper use. Knowing this, Jack Ma decided to start this internet user friendly company that would allow his clients to
perform business transactions with other businesses/suppliers in China. He first started the company on a local level
and as Alibaba has seen success it has been expanding to the global market. Some of the factors that contributed to the
success of Alibaba in the Chinese e commerce industry were:
First mover advantage: Alibaba has a first mover advantage that makes it very hard for competitors to chip away at
their lead in the market. (Dick Wei, Analyst, J.P. Morgan Securities Inc.,2 in 2007). Alibaba started its operations when
e commerce in China was in its infancy stage. Considering the potential of the budding e commerce market, Alibaba
started with operations that concentrated on providing B2B services to SMEs that were aspiring to go global.
Smart competitive and marketing strategies: From an early stage, Alibaba had been focusing on differentiating itself by
providing better services to its customer. It put an innovative business model in place where customers could try out its
services without any cost. Over time, it was able to generate revenue from alternative streams and increase revenue as

Essay On The Nurse In Romeo And Juliet
In the tragedy play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main comical characters is the Nurse who is
an old lower class servant for the Capulet s. She wears a houppelande (an outer clothing, with a long, full body and
flaring sleeves) and is indicated to be ugly and old by Mercutio in Act two scene four. In about the beginning of the
play, the Nurse appears to be a close friend and a mother figure to Juliet although she betrays her at the end when
telling her to forget Romeo and marry Paris. The Nurse has a very funny personality since she s always making these
inappropriate jokes. For example one of her dirty jokes are To fetch a ladder by which your love Must climb a bird s
nest soon when it s dark . Here she is telling Juliet about a ladder that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start, Shakespeare s opinion of what must be done for love is clear through the attempts the Nurse makes to try and
keep the relationship Romeo and Juliet were having a secret. The Nurse is the only other person who knows about
Romeo and Juliet s love for each other asides from Friar Lawrence, she kept it a secret and supported Juliet s decisions
even in times she didn t want to out of her love for Juliet. The play Romeo and Juliet would not be able to function
without the Nurse in many ways. To start, the Nurse technically raised Juliet because of Lady Capulet s absences if she
wasn t around and some other servant or Juliet s mom raised Juliet, Juliet may not be the person she is, she may never
marry or even meet Romeo and the story would ve been exclusively different. Secondly, the Nurse is a comical
character which means she is a character who makes the audience laugh in the play Romeo and Juliet with her
inappropriate nurse jokes. Also, Nurse acts as a go between for Romeo and Juliet without her the messages Romeo and
Juliet sent to each other would have gone

Argumentative Essay On The Fortune Teller
Thank you, if not for you I would never know that my love life would be so romantic!
The fortune teller did her best to stop her urge to smile slyly. She watched the maiden exit the tent as she gathered her
cards and pondered. She would need to wait for her last client before she packs up and go home. Massaging her stiff
neck, she sighs as she thought about how hard it is to earn money these days. The grandchild, her daughter had left her
might be starving right now, and as the child s grandmother, she can t help but feel a little guilty.
The old woman suddenly felt exhausted in a matter of seconds.
The high days of fortune telling are over; she can t help but recall when she was famous in her younger days. Those
days where her wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the good side, at least she s not selling drugs and dragging unfortunate youths with her misery.
The client sat on the seat in front of the fortune teller. The old lady spoke, Tarot cards, crystal or hand reading?
Raising her head for the second time, the fortune teller watches as the woman replied, Hand reading.
The woman s face was full indifference as if she could not be bothered by measly things. Her skin appeared dazzling
under the dimly lit tent, the cold face of hers reminded the old woman of the fairies sculpted and showcased in theme
parks. Now that she studied her client s face, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Sadly the old lady knows beauty is but a
paltry desire.
The client offered her hand, the woman suddenly felt indescribable fear with her action. The fortune teller was hesitant
to touch her hand, but she resolved her will as her wrinkly hands reached for hers. The old woman glanced at the
woman s eyes and was amused to know that she cannot read anything.
The old lady smiled, the fear inside her disappeared. But deep inside her, a strange emotion was stirred. It had been
hundred of years since this sensation struck

Laura Ingalls Wilder Research Paper
Have you ever wondered about how people lived in the late 1800s in America? Historians aren t the only ones who can
teach you about those times. Laura Ingalls Wilder lived in those days and experienced all of the joys, pain and hardship
of living the pioneer life. She decided to write about her experiences later in life, and those writings became famous for
providing a window into what life was like then. This paper will detail the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her
contributions to literature and recording american history as the writer of the Little House book series.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Stress Relief By Paul Lieberstein
In the American television series The Office , the main purpose of the show is to entertain audiences. The episode
Stress Relief written by Paul Lieberstein is no exception. This episode was first aired on the 1st of February, 2009 to
national audiences. One of the main scenes of the episode was the fire drill where a main character, Dwight Schrute,
unhappy with the office s competence of fire safety decides to take matters in his own hands. He simulates a fire by
burning some paper, creating chaos in the office. He blocks all exits and cuts the phone lines only further panicking his
coworkers. Eventually, as his coworkers are breaking windows and climbing into the ceiling, he blows his air horn and
announces that it was just a drill testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time of writing of the episode, he had over 10 years of experience in the television business. He also plays the
character Toby Flenderson in the show itself, meaning he gets to see both the writer s side and the actor s side of the
show. As such as knowledgeable about the business and the show, his ethos is very apparently. Yet, he is technically
behind the scenes as the writer of the show, meaning this credibility would not do much for the audience. Instead, he
creates ethos for the show itself. His rhetorical strategy to do so relies heavily on creating an authentic image of what
the average workplace looks like. Excluding this aspect would not only change the entire premise of the show but also
tremendously weaken the satire he aims to present. Lieberstein persuades his audience by creating a realistic office
based on his acknowledge of contemporary workplaces. With the help of the crew, he creates a set that is primarily in
an antiseptic office building full of fluorescent lighting, nondescript cubicles, and buzzing fax machines (Birthsiel),
much like a standard office. Additionally, the Office uses a mockumentary approach to their filming style. Rather than
the standard recording format of shows, the filming style is designed to emulate a documentary. By doing this, the
rather unconvincing idea of pointless daily recordings of an office becomes disguised with the façade of a film crew
creating a documentary. This explanation of the recording makes the office seem natural and realistic. Ultimately,
Lieberstein s use of the show s design is what gives himself and the show

P3: Describe the potential effects of discriminatory practice on those who use health or social care services.
Discrimination has the potential to affect individuals in wide ranging ways. In health and social care, the effects of
discrimination can be catastrophic and even end in the death of a service user. Anyone planning a career in health and
social care should be aware of the potential negative effects caused by discrimination. We will explore them here.
Marginalisation As you might expect, marginalisation means being pushed to the margins of society. In other words,
you are unable to participate fully in the health and social care services that are available. Marginalisation can occur at

Restricted opportunities Discrimination, as we have already seen, has the potential to prevent access to health and
social care services. This could be through the attitudes and beliefs of the health care workers who fail to value all
individuals or it could be through the effects of low self esteem. Negative behaviours including aggression and
criminality Another effect of discrimination can be seen in the behaviour of individuals. This is particularly noticeable
in children, who often display negative behaviours in order to gain attention, even when that attention is negative!
Adults and young people as a result of discrimination and low self esteem can also display negative behavioural traits.
However, in these cases the behaviour can take on a much more sinister appearance. It may manifest itself as
aggression towards those holding power (including health care professionals or those working in the employment and
judicial services) and through criminal activity such as drug taking, burglary and physical violence. Loss of rights
There have been cases in the national media of care homes, secure or forensic units (places of security for people with
dangerous psychiatric behaviours) and individual carers being accused of systematically discriminating against the
people in their care and overriding their individual rights by the use of power or force. Older, vulnerable

The Candy Diet Analysis
Simple thinking in a complex world is bound to bring disaster. The author, Seth Godin, wrote The Candy Diet, a short
blog published in 2017. He argues that we have been making society a place where we think that it is okay to simplify
non complex things. The blog utilizes some of the very same tactics of today s writers to make his argument. Godin
begins building his credibility by informing men and women with supporting examples, then moves on to a reliable
quote that has been misinterpreted. However, at the end of the argument, his statement about being led back to curiosity
fails to inform the readers with enough information to reshape our failing society.
Godin first begins his blog by stating examples of how the media has been declining. He states that it is important to
realize that our best selling novels have been replaced by coloring books. Cable channels like TLC and the History
Channel show populist, non educational shows. Not only that, but even newspapers inform their audience with
information they do not care to hear. This has resulted in the increase of general population not even purchasing
newspapers. Seth Godin goes on to inform the reader that the decline of thoughtful media has been discussed for a
century stating that the decrease is not anything new. The new information is, A fundamental shift not just in the profit
seeking gatekeepers, but in the culture as a whole. This shows the readers that Godin has done his research. It also
shows that he is passionate about the lack of depth and complexity in our modern communications. The readers start to
build trust in what he wrote because of his strong illustrations about the topic.
To further build his thesis, Godin adds another strong example. He states that the media has an algorithm. He uses an
effective metaphor, we re on the edge of a breakneck race to the bottom, with no brakes and no break in sight. This
explains that we are quickly declining to the bottom. Although the metaphor is fitting, the sentences building up to it
are useless and weak. He could have either taken them out or made them stronger by making the paragraphs longer.
This might make the reader question if Godin really knows what he is writing about.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg School System
Background: 1. The Charlotte Mecklenburg school system, which includes the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, had
more than 84,000 students in 107 schools in the 1968 1969 school year. Approximately 29% (24,000) of the pupils
were Negro, about 14,000 of whom attended 21 schools that were at least 99% Negro. 2. A desegregation plan was
approved by the District Court in 1965, at the commencement of this litigation. In 1968, petitioner Swann moved for
further relief based on Green v. County School Board, 391 U.S. 430, which required school boards to come forward
with a plan that promises realistically to work now, until it is clear that state imposed segregation has been completely
removed. 3. The District Court ordered the school board in April 1969 to provide a plan for faculty and student
desegregation. Finding the board s submission unsatisfactory, the District Court appointed an expert to submit a
desegregation plan. 4. In February 1970, the expert and the board presented plans, and the court adopted the board s
plan, as modified, for the junior and senior high schools, and the expert s proposed plan for the elementary schools. 5.
The Court of Appeals affirmed the District Court s order as to faculty desegregation and the secondary school plans,
however vacated the order respecting elementary schools, fearing that the provisions for pairing and grouping of
elementary schools would unreasonably burden the pupils and the board. 6. Till the case reached the Supreme

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Fact School
This is a number operation lesson for Kindergarten 2nd grade. This lesson might be used in conjunction with lessons
involving fact families. The goal of the lesson is to help the students gain an understanding of fact families. The
students will start with one number, 7, and find the different addition and subtraction fact families for each number.
After the students have used the counters/cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first
number, the students will count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families.
Strengths Weaknesses:
The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different properties of fact families
involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being the beginning of learning and using fact
families, is the fact that the students are using manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The
students are also recording their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows
the students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of writing out the
information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use of manipulatives and writing in
conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in learning number combinations. The questions that are
related to this lesson will help the students

Summer Research Report
The first weeks of the summer fellowship in the VDS stream was a bit hectic. They consisted of learning protocols and
techniques. Three plates of PNiC BSa4 colonies were grown by my partner and me that week. These were later used by
the majority of lab students who had reached the cloning stage. My first PCR with plasmid pgbr22 failed, but the
second was successful. PCR with pmCherry had to be completed 3 times to get a successful result and PNIC BSa4
PCR had to be completed twice to get a successful result. The three practice PCRs were completed the 5th week of lab.
Protein expression using PfDXR was started in week 3 and the sample of protein was purified the following week. I

process that prepares the column filter for maximum DNA binding. PCR2 and PCR clean up were completed again and
the concentration of the sample was averaged to be 147.9ng/ul. Since the concentrations of the samples were adequate,
I moved onto PNiC BSa4 cloning and prepared a sample to be DNA sequenced. RE digest was completed on two
PNIcBSa4 prep samples, with the gel indicating that both samples were successfully cut and nano drop results
indicating high purity levels with low concentrations (~32ng/uL). Results from sequencing were nucleotide blasted and
confirmed to be PNiCBSa4. I talked to a mentor about my samples and was told that I probably needed a higher
concentration ≥100ng/uL, for cloning to be successful. In order to increase the concentration 4 samples of 50uL each
were cut and PCR clean up into one sample that had a concentration of 123.5ng/ul. The cloning protocol was
completed that week and when the plated were checked, no colonies were present on either of the two plates. My first
attempt at cloning failed. The process was completed again, and the sample concentration was averaged to be

The Stem Field Is No Stranger For Advancement And Innovation
The STEM field is no stranger to advancement and innovation. In a thriving age of technology and science, one could
argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated
technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of
STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number
of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers.
The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation during her collegiate
years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that
there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that
the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of
resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus,
Black Girls Code was created.
Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. They do so by
training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known as coding. By launching Black Girls
Code, stated Bryant, I hope to provide young and

Metropolis Mise En Scene
Metropolis is a German silent film directed by Fritz Lang that was released in 1927. It has received a 99% rating on
Rotten Tomatoes...and it is a film that I absolutely cannot stand. Despite having grown up in the digital age, my disdain
for this film is not contributed to the fact that the film is silent (although this may be an underlying factor that
contributes to other reasons that I do not like this movie). Rather I think my dislike for this film is rooted in genre.
Metropolis is a science fiction film, and science fiction is not a genre that I particularly fancy. But there are elements of
mise en scene that also make me not like this film.
The film is set in the future, and yet the costumes of the actors do not reflect this whatsoever. The actors are still in the
attire that represents the time that the movie was made in 1927. But because Metropolis was one of the first movies
made within the science fiction genre, it may not have been a custom to try and make clothing match the futuristic
setting and scenery of the film. Another reason I do not like the film in terms of aesthetics is ... Show more content on

However, this may have been done because the actors have to compensate for the fact that there is no sound in the film.
But as we discussed in class, acting styles have changed over time and this may be why I dislike the acting in this film.
But because I find the score in the film good at expressing the emotions of characters and setting the tone of the movie,
I do not think that the way the actors act is necessary. While I do believe that the score did a good job at reflecting the
emotions of actors and the overall tone of the film, in general I find the score to be repetitive. There are a couple of
songs that are repeated throughout the film, which may be viewed as a musical motif but to me the use of the same
songs over and over again becomes

The Cultural Differences Of Irish Identity And Individual...
Many countries and people from different parts of the world established individual identities throughout the course of
the twentieth century which greatly impacted globalization. Identity relates to self image and is crucial for the
development of culture. A person s identity is defined as the totality of one s self construal, in which how one construes
oneself in the present expresses the continuity between how one construes oneself as one was in the past and how one
construes oneself as one aspires to be in the future, (Weinreich, 1986). The way that people view themselves in the
past, present and future can alter the course of history for generations and dictates international relations for years to
come. Globalization, or the way that people interact with one another whether through ideas, culture, money or socially
is dependent upon preserving individualism which has not proven to be the easiest task to master. The cultural
differences related to the Irish living on the British Isles, the Basque population in Spain, Serbs under Ottoman rule, as
well as Moroccans under French control can still be felt in many ways today and have impacted people and nations
around the globe.
Analysis
The Irish have a longstanding history of struggle when it comes to establishing identity and independence. As we
witnessed with Irish immigrants coming to the United States in the 1800s, difficulties were experienced in the British
Isles which created a sense of tension and brought about

According to Deci (1975), intrinsic motivation can be described as a psychological condition caused when individuals
consider themselves capable and able to decide things by themselves. A person suffering from high intrinsic motivation
should be able to do something favored as driving a car, visiting places is preferred, choose accommodation and choose
the desired food. If he is given a gift such as a visit to the places designated by the organizing body, the accommodation
and food types are determined by the parties, he did not get a chance to decide everything on your own. Therefore,
intrinsic motivation becomes too low.

Geyer, Sherree. (2016). Rethinking clinical documentation for the EHR era. Healthcare IT News,
In this article, Sherree Geyer analyzes how clinical documentation in this EHR (electronic health record) era is
affecting care, and what that means moving forward. Geyer takes a look into what is at the core of the problem that has
physicians not connecting the dots on clinical documentation. She also addresses what can be done to ease the situation
as we move forward in this EHR era.
The article discusses a recent study by Annals of Internal Medicine that showed physicians spend 37 percent of their
time on clinical documentation in their electronic health records. This was attributed to the fact that a number of people
have use for clinical documentation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one issue not addressed in this article is the fact that at this stage in EHRs most of those responsible for developing
EHRs are people not familiar with healthcare, so they don t quiet have the understanding of what is necessary. There is
no denying how critical clinical documentation is to healthcare. According to Health Information Management
Technology: An Applied Approach (pg120), the documentation found in health records is crucial as evidence of
services provided and the quality of those services. This has become so important that many healthcare setting have
initiated clinical documentation improvement programs. With a growing and ageing population in need of quality
healthcare, timely and accurate clinical documentation is critical to a successful healthcare system. However, I think it
is important for everyone to remember that these things take time, as stated in the article we re still in the early days of

A Summary Of The Apache Girl s Rite Of Passage
Despite the different time period there are still things that stay the same, whether it s technology, education, or culture
bits and pieces of history are still here in the modern world. Like, in the Medicine Bag, even though the tradition was
generations old it was still passed down to the males in the family. Or in the video Apache Girl s Rite of Passage, the
ritual was centuries old and yet it was still used today in the reservation as the transformation from adolescence to
adulthood. Inca s ritual had evolved over time based on something that had changed. In this essay, all the similarities
and differences will be identified in all three rites of passage. This essay also includes the advantages and
disadvantages of text versus video.
There are many similarities among the Lakota, Apache, and Incan coming of age ceremonies for the boys of the tribe.
Each tribe had a ritual that tested the strength and endurance of the boys in their tribe. Boys in the Lakota tribe,
particularly around the age of 11, experience a test of endurance and strength that requires them to fast, pray, and
survive for a bare minimum of twenty four hours, in the wilderness. By doing so, successfully, they will be fully
recognized as a working member of the community. The Apache tribe also does a test of endurance and strength to help
their boys become strong warriors. The elders of the community tell the boys to run to the top of a mountain and come
back again without stopping. As they become older,

The Effects Of The Balance Of Power
The Effects of the Balance of Power
Introduction
In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain peace and stability
among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully eliminate war and aggression. However,
the scope of international relations is to create an effort to minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and
strategies. The best way to create diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The
balance of power is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting
states.
The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the amount of actors who
possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to classify the allocation of power in the
international community. The three systems include a unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar world. Many realists theorists
correlate multi polar systems as destructive and problematic in causing wars. Meanwhile, it is widely agreed that
bipolarity encourages stability and a unipolar world is the most ideal in maintaining peace. The objective of this paper
is to analyze these three concepts of distribution of power and how it has affected the international stage after World
War II.
Conceptualization: Balance of Power
The balance of power theory is considered a rudimentary concept in the field of

Susan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers And Flannery O ...
The oppression of women has occurred all throughout history across the world in the thousands of years that patriarchy
has existed. During recent times as social standards have progressed, the voices of women are heard more often than
long ago. Nonetheless, it is often overlooked that women of decades before used their voices in other ways in order to
speak out against oppression. One of the ways these women did this was in their literary writing. Despite the progress
made today to stand up against oppression of women, there is much that can be learned by looking back at problematic
situations portrayed by women writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Out of all of the texts written by women only
three will be discussed; Rebecca Harding Davis s Life in the Iron Mills, Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers and
Flannery O Connor s Good Country People, in which specific symbols are used as representations of the ways in which
women were oppressed and how important it is to study these texts today. By narrowing down the number of literary
texts to three as well as discussing only one literary device from each, one can begin to understand the importance of
learning about the American women s literary tradition. Beginning with Rebecca Harding Davis s Life in the Iron
Mills, readers can find within the text a clear oppression of lower class peoples that is also an indirect oppression of
women as lower class individuals. Davis tells this story with a man named Hugh Wolfe as her main

Construction Of Male Sexuality In Catullus
In Skinner s article Ego Mulier: The Construction of Male Sexuality in Catullus, she shares her knowledge on Roman
ancient gender protocol. Skinner talks about the Roman sexual ethics and how the Roman males conduct themselves
under this protocol. Skinner illustrates how Catullus uses poetry to express his feelings, and what was Catullus s life
like under this type of protocol in ancient Rome. Catullus poetry at times is difficult to understand, precisely what he is
trying to tell his audience about his life, but as Skinner explains it clearly in her article she explains that in Rome, free
boys were considered objects of desire, but it was not acceptable for a man to act upon that desire. Romans masculinity
can always be put into question:

Football Concussion Essay
Throughout time, football has been known for its insane amount of damage it causes to its players. It has ranged from a
little scrape on your arm to almost lying on your deathbed after having a concussion that you thought was just a
headache. Although football is seen as a great sport to watch, no one actually knows the truth behind the actual game.
Many have tried to make the sport involve more safe strategies, but it is just one of those sports that has gained their
reputation from being involved with pushing, hurting, and sometimes even fighting . I would not allow my son to play
football, because it has ways of leaving multiple health issues throughout your lifetime. It may also be one of the roads
to cause traumatic injuries and it gives a more likely chance of death. In this sport, there are multiple data tables that
include the amount of concussions that have happened throughout the years of the game. One reason why I would not
allow my son to play football is because it leaves the chance of having long time health issues. According to Sandomir

The Eight Stages Of Erikson s Theory Of Identity And Identity
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be focusing on Erikson s theory of psychosocial development. There are eight stages in which
only the fifth stage identity versus role confusion will be discussed. Aspects such as identity crises, exploration of
autonomy whilst developing a sense of self, factors that may contribute to identity formation as well as the
successful/unsuccessful resolution of this particular stage will be discussed thoroughly. James Marcia s identity statuses
will be also highlighted. This essay will then progress into a case study based on Anna Monroe in connection to the
difficulties she was confronted with such as gender, sexuality, peer pressure, suicide and the experimentation with
different identities she encountered.

Identity is first confronted in adolescence between the ages 12 19 years old, due to physical and hormonal changes in
the body. An introduction to formal operations in cognitive development and societal expectation contributes to an
individual s identity to be explored and established (McAdams, 2009), this also leads to the discovery of one s identity,
however the (internal and external) forces that promote identity development, usually creates a sense of tension within/
for the individual. The basic task is, in Erikson s terms, fidelity or truthfulness and consistency to one s core self or
faith in one s ideology , in a nutshell: Who am I and where am I going? (Fleming, 2004:

Essay on Alternative Sources of Energy
ESSAY ON ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF ENERGY
The law of conservation says that energy is neither created nor destroyed. When we use energy, it doesn t disappear. We
change it from one form of energy into another. A car engine burns gasoline, converting the chemical energy in
gasoline into mechanical energy. Solar cells change radiant energy into electrical energy. Energy changes form, but the
total amount of energy in the universe stays the same. Scientists at the Department of Energy think they have
discovered a mysterious new form of energy called dark energy that is actually causing the universe to grow!
The simplest way to define energy is said by: the capacity to do work by moving matter against an opposing force. If

CNG ranks relatively high in convenience and availability. CNG may be the preferred clean, alternative fuel for use in
vehicles to travel on specified routes, such as delivery trucks, and return to a central yard where they can be slow filled
overnight. CNG powered vehicles use natural gas the same fuel that is used by stoves, water heaters and clothes dryers
stored in cylinders at pressures of 2,000 to 3,500 pounds per square inch. Compressed natural gas is used in light duty
passenger vehicles and pickup trucks, medium duty delivery trucks, and in transit and school buses. LNG, on the other
hand, is favored for heavy duty applications, such as transit buses, train locomotives and long haul semi trucks.
Fossil fuels come under non renewable sources of energy because we burn the fossil fuel to obtain coal, oil, natural gas,
petrol and etc and one day these resources will get over. Nevertheless, these fossil fuels also cause global warming
because of the increasing soil and air pollution on burning.
Take for example the case of our city Power Station which runs on coal. A fuel that is obtained from wood, by
chopping tress and leads to deforestation. This fuel is also difficult and hence expensive to transport. Now burning of
coal also leads to air and land pollution, which leads to major problems to the

The Golden Ass Literary Analysis
The beloved tale of Cupid and Psyche takes up a large portion of The Golden Ass, relative to the other anecdotal
interludes. Given the central placement, length and style, many readers have questioned its relevance to the overarching
story. Is it an artistic interlude providing a reprieve from harsher circumstances, like the long description of Achilles
shield in the Iliad, or does it advance the story? While it is tempting to view the tale as an artistic interlude, the Tale of
Cupid and Psyche perpetuates the demonization of women in The Golden Ass, draws parallels between Psyche and
Lucius, and foreshadows the tragic fate of Charitë. Firstly, in the story of Cupid and Psyche, Psyche s two sisters
embody Lucius reoccurring view of women as evil and sexually insatiable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Cathedrals Construction of cathedrals started around the 11 century. The first cathedrals were built in France and later its style and architecture extended across Europe. During the medieval times people were going through economic tribulations. There was absolutely no trade going and people where ingrained in the manors they served. It was as if all that existed was just what was behind the castle walls. Until the construction of cathedrals came forth this gave people faith and hope that their lives will prosper. People traveled outside and went on pilgrimages to savor the elegant and massive cathedrals. Towns were being established and the feudal system was diminishing. The towns offered freedom and job opportunities for people so they set out to move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A young boy named Pierre saves the veil of the Virgin from the flames. • 3. Josef Mengele s Research Throughout World War II, multiple Nazi researchers and physicians experimented upon thousands of concentration camp prisoners, in painful and often deadly ways. Arguably the most horrific of them all was Dr. Josef Mengele and his experiments conducted on twins, dwarfs, and prisoners with physical abnormalities. Mengele s primary aim in research was to prove that certain traits such as eye colour, obesity, and nasal features were inherited and thusly could be bred out of existence. This interest stemmed from the Nazi obsession with a pure race, which ultimately led to the extreme violation and sterilization of undesirable groups . (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84) The Ethics Josef Mengele was a product of the eugenics movement. The Eugenics theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main issues is whether or not it is ethically sound to use the results of the medical research that the Nazi s conducted during World War II; there is much debate on this topic, with some saying that the research should not be used because most of the experiments were not well designed, which would result in data that is valueless. Others argue that although the data may have value, it is not ethical to use it because of the horrible ways in which the data was obtained. (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84). Another lesson that can be imparted from the occurrences of the Holocaust is the need for some type of regulation on a global scale of the research and medical practices taking place all over the world; although this is a very complicated and difficult practice, and although the vast majority of researchers would never commit such atrocities, if researchers such as Josef Mengele are left to carry out any experiments and procedures that they wish, the consequences could be terrible. Research cannot be carried out unchecked; there have to be ethical guidelines in place and these guidelines have to be enforced in some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fear stuck the hearts of many as they heard the deafening collapse of a downtown building on 10th Street and Phillips Avenue. Many first responders and police quickly moved to try and find survivors. Hundreds of people waited for survivors to be pulled out from the debris. Cheers erupted when three hours after the collapse, firefighters found Emily Fodness alive underneath the rubble. The permit they received did not allow for any structural work to be done, yet they posted a picture on Facebook of themselves working on a load bearing wall. Others with a construction background and had seen a picture of the construction on the wall say that Hultgren Construction did not have i beams and other equipment that are necessary when working with a load bearing wall. It appears that they did not know how to do their job properly. It is sad that the Hultgren Construction company went against the law and others had to pay for the company s mistake. Hultgren Construction has had not previous safety violations. It is unfortunate that their first violation caused a fatality. There was many things that happened as a result of this building collapse and many things will happen in the future as a result of it. This catastrophic event caused the area surrounding the collapsed building to close down as there were fears that the surrounding buildings damaged from the rubble might also collapse. • 5. A Short Note On The E Commerce Market 1. Critically analyze the factors that led to Alibaba sustaining its leadership position in the Chinese e commerce market. During the late 1990 s and early 2000 s, the internet was not very popular in China and people were ignorant to its proper use. Knowing this, Jack Ma decided to start this internet user friendly company that would allow his clients to perform business transactions with other businesses/suppliers in China. He first started the company on a local level and as Alibaba has seen success it has been expanding to the global market. Some of the factors that contributed to the success of Alibaba in the Chinese e commerce industry were: First mover advantage: Alibaba has a first mover advantage that makes it very hard for competitors to chip away at their lead in the market. (Dick Wei, Analyst, J.P. Morgan Securities Inc.,2 in 2007). Alibaba started its operations when e commerce in China was in its infancy stage. Considering the potential of the budding e commerce market, Alibaba started with operations that concentrated on providing B2B services to SMEs that were aspiring to go global. Smart competitive and marketing strategies: From an early stage, Alibaba had been focusing on differentiating itself by providing better services to its customer. It put an innovative business model in place where customers could try out its services without any cost. Essay On The Nurse In Romeo And Juliet In the tragedy play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main comical characters is the Nurse who is an old lower class servant for the Capulet s. She wears a houppelande (an outer clothing, with a long, full body and flaring sleeves) and is indicated to be ugly and old by Mercutio in Act two scene four. In about the beginning of the play, the Nurse appears to be a close friend and a mother figure to Juliet although she betrays her at the end when telling her to forget Romeo and marry Paris. The Nurse has a very funny personality since she s always making these inappropriate jokes. To start, Shakespeare s opinion of what must be done for love is clear through the attempts the Nurse makes to try and keep the relationship Romeo and Juliet were having a secret. The Nurse is the only other person who knows about Romeo and Juliet s love for each other asides from Friar Lawrence, she kept it a secret and supported Juliet s decisions even in times she didn t want to out of her love for Juliet. The play Romeo and Juliet would not be able to function without the Nurse in many ways. To start, the Nurse technically raised Juliet because of Lady Capulet s absences if she wasn t around and some other servant or Juliet s mom raised Juliet, Juliet may not be the person she is, she may never marry or even meet Romeo and the story would ve been exclusively different. Secondly, the Nurse is a comical character which means she is a character who makes the audience laugh in the play Romeo and Juliet with her inappropriate nurse jokes. Her skin appeared dazzling under the dimly lit tent, the cold face of hers reminded the old woman of the fairies sculpted and showcased in theme parks. Now that she studied her client s face, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Sadly the old lady knows beauty is but a paltry desire. The client offered her hand, the woman suddenly felt indescribable fear with her action. The fortune teller was hesitant to touch her hand, but she resolved her will as her wrinkly hands reached for hers. • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Stress Relief By Paul Lieberstein In the American television series The Office , the main purpose of the show is to entertain audiences. The episode Stress Relief written by Paul Lieberstein is no exception. This episode was first aired on the 1st of February, 2009 to national audiences. One of the main scenes of the episode was the fire drill where a main character, Dwight Schrute, unhappy with the office s competence of fire safety decides to take matters in his own hands. He simulates a fire by burning some paper, creating chaos in the office. He blocks all exits and cuts the phone lines only further panicking his coworkers. At the time of writing of the episode, he had over 10 years of experience in the television business. He also plays the character Toby Flenderson in the show itself, meaning he gets to see both the writer s side and the actor s side of the show. As such as knowledgeable about the business and the show, his ethos is very apparently. Yet, he is technically behind the scenes as the writer of the show, meaning this credibility would not do much for the audience. Instead, he creates ethos for the show itself. His rhetorical strategy to do so relies heavily on creating an authentic image of what the average workplace looks like. Excluding this aspect would not only change the entire premise of the show but also tremendously weaken the satire he aims to present. Lieberstein persuades his audience by creating a realistic office based on his acknowledge of contemporary workplaces. With the help of the crew, he creates a set that is primarily in an antiseptic office building full of fluorescent lighting, nondescript cubicles, and buzzing fax machines (Birthsiel), much like a standard office. Additionally, the Office uses a mockumentary approach to their filming style. Rather than the standard recording format of shows, the filming style is designed to emulate a documentary. By doing this, the rather unconvincing idea of pointless daily recordings of an office becomes disguised with the façade of a film crew creating a documentary. This explanation of the recording makes the office seem natural and realistic. Ultimately, Lieberstein s use of the show s design is what gives himself and the show ... Discrimination has the potential to affect individuals in wide ranging ways. In health and social care, the effects of discrimination can be catastrophic and even end in the death of a service user. Anyone planning a career in health and social care should be aware of the potential negative effects caused by discrimination. We will explore them here. Restricted opportunities Discrimination, as we have already seen, has the potential to prevent access to health and social care services. This could be through the attitudes and beliefs of the health care workers who fail to value all individuals or it could be through the effects of low self esteem. Negative behaviours including aggression and criminality Another effect of discrimination can be seen in the behaviour of individuals. This is particularly noticeable in children, who often display negative behaviours in order to gain attention, even when that attention is negative! Adults and young people as a result of discrimination and low self esteem can also display negative behavioural traits. However, in these cases the behaviour can take on a much more sinister appearance. It may manifest itself as aggression towards those holding power (including health care professionals or those working in the employment and judicial services) and through criminal activity such as drug taking, burglary and physical violence. • 11. The Candy Diet Analysis Simple thinking in a complex world is bound to bring disaster. The author, Seth Godin, wrote The Candy Diet, a short blog published in 2017. He argues that we have been making society a place where we think that it is okay to simplify non complex things. The blog utilizes some of the very same tactics of today s writers to make his argument. Godin begins building his credibility by informing men and women with supporting examples, then moves on to a reliable quote that has been misinterpreted. However, at the end of the argument, his statement about being led back to curiosity fails to inform the readers with enough information to reshape our failing society. Godin first begins his blog by stating examples of how the media has been declining. He states that it is important to realize that our best selling novels have been replaced by coloring books. Cable channels like TLC and the History Channel show populist, non educational shows. Not only that, but even newspapers inform their audience with information they do not care to hear. This has resulted in the increase of general population not even purchasing newspapers. Seth Godin goes on to inform the reader that the decline of thoughtful media has been discussed for a century stating that the decrease is not anything new. The new information is, A fundamental shift not just in the profit seeking gatekeepers, but in the culture as a whole. This shows the readers that Godin has done his research. It also shows that he is passionate about the lack of depth and complexity in our modern communications. The readers start to build trust in what he wrote because of his strong illustrations about the topic. To further build his thesis, Godin adds another strong example. He states that the media has an algorithm. He uses an effective metaphor, we re on the edge of a breakneck race to the bottom, with no brakes and no break in sight. This explains that we are quickly declining to the bottom. Although the metaphor is fitting, the sentences building up to it are useless and weak. He could have either taken them out or made them stronger by making the paragraphs longer. This might make the reader question if Godin really knows what he is writing about. ... The Charlotte Mecklenburg school system, which includes the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, had more than 84,000 students in 107 schools in the 1968 1969 school year. Approximately 29% (24,000) of the pupils were Negro, about 14,000 of whom attended 21 schools that were at least 99% Negro. 2. A desegregation plan was approved by the District Court in 1965, at the commencement of this litigation. In 1968, petitioner Swann moved for further relief based on Green v. County School Board, 391 U.S. 430, which required school boards to come forward with a plan that promises realistically to work now, until it is clear that state imposed segregation has been completely removed. 3. The District Court ordered the school board in April 1969 to provide a plan for faculty and student desegregation. Finding the board s submission unsatisfactory, the District Court appointed an expert to submit a desegregation plan. 4. In February 1970, the expert and the board presented plans, and the court adopted the board s plan, as modified, for the junior and senior high schools, and the expert s proposed plan for the elementary schools. 5. • 15. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Fact School This is a number operation lesson for Kindergarten 2nd grade. This lesson might be used in conjunction with lessons involving fact families. The goal of the lesson is to help the students gain an understanding of fact families. The students will start with one number, 7, and find the different addition and subtraction fact families for each number. After the students have used the counters/cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first number, the students will count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families. Strengths Weaknesses: The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different properties of fact families involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being the beginning of learning and using fact families, is the fact that the students are using manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The students are also recording their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows the students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of writing out the information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use of manipulatives and writing in conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in learning number combinations. The questions that are related to this lesson will help the students The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a thriving age of technology and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers. The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus, Black Girls Code was created. Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known as coding. By launching Black Girls Code, stated Bryant, I hope to provide young and ... It has received a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes...and it is a film that I absolutely cannot stand. Despite having grown up in the digital age, my disdain for this film is not contributed to the fact that the film is silent (although this may be an underlying factor that contributes to other reasons that I do not like this movie). Rather I think my dislike for this film is rooted in genre. Metropolis is a science fiction film, and science fiction is not a genre that I particularly fancy. But there are elements of mise en scene that also make me not like this film. The film is set in the future, and yet the costumes of the actors do not reflect this whatsoever. The actors are still in the attire that represents the time that the movie was made in 1927. But because Metropolis was one of the first movies made within the science fiction genre, it may not have been a custom to try and make clothing match the futuristic setting and scenery of the film. • 19. The Cultural Differences Of Irish Identity And Individual... Many countries and people from different parts of the world established individual identities throughout the course of the twentieth century which greatly impacted globalization. Identity relates to self image and is crucial for the development of culture. A person s identity is defined as the totality of one s self construal, in which how one construes oneself in the present expresses the continuity between how one construes oneself as one was in the past and how one construes oneself as one aspires to be in the future, (Weinreich, 1986). The way that people view themselves in the past, present and future can alter the course of history for generations and dictates international relations for years to come. Globalization, or the way that people interact with one another whether through ideas, culture, money or socially is dependent upon preserving individualism which has not proven to be the easiest task to master. The cultural differences related to the Irish living on the British Isles, the Basque population in Spain, Serbs under Ottoman rule, as well as Moroccans under French control can still be felt in many ways today and have impacted people and nations around the globe. The Effects Of The Balance Of Power The Effects of the Balance of Power Introduction In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain peace and stability among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully eliminate war and aggression. However, the scope of international relations is to create an effort to minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and strategies. The best way to create diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The balance of power is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting states. The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the amount of actors who possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to classify the allocation of power in the international community. The three systems include a unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar world. Many realists theorists correlate multi polar systems as destructive and problematic in causing wars. Meanwhile, it is widely agreed that bipolarity encourages stability and a unipolar world is the most ideal in maintaining peace. • 25. Susan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers And Flannery O ... The oppression of women has occurred all throughout history across the world in the thousands of years that patriarchy has existed. During recent times as social standards have progressed, the voices of women are heard more often than long ago. Nonetheless, it is often overlooked that women of decades before used their voices in other ways in order to speak out against oppression. One of the ways these women did this was in their literary writing. Despite the progress made today to stand up against oppression of women, there is much that can be learned by looking back at problematic situations portrayed by women writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Out of all of the texts written by women only three will be discussed; Rebecca Harding Davis s Life in the Iron Mills, Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers and Flannery O Connor s Good Country People, in which specific symbols are used as representations of the ways in which women were oppressed and how important it is to study these texts today. By narrowing down the number of literary texts to three as well as discussing only one literary device from each, one can begin to understand the importance of learning about the American women s literary tradition.
