Benefits Of Immunizations
Not only does immunizations save parents money, it saves the government money. Not all people are
wealthy enough to pay for insurance, or have jobs that provide families with health insurance. Some
children are on government insurance like Medicaid or All Kids, vaccinations are paid for when on
government insurances. If a parent chooses not to vaccinate their children that are on Medicaid or All
Kids, and they become sick; the government will have to pay for the expenses of treatment. To me,
that is not fair because if the child is getting free health insurance, he or she should have to get
vaccinated to help prevent disease. If a parent cannot afford insurance or does not qualify for
government insurance, they are programs that will help

Compare And Contrast Anja And Vaedek
1. Observation In panel #5 on page 125, Anja and Valdek are depicted holding hands as they journey
to Sosnowiec. The path they take forms a Swastika, however, the path is lined with trees, and houses.
Mountains and factories line the horizon. Other people are traveling further along the path, taking
different routes, however, Valdek and Anja wonder which path to take. The white path creates a
contrast to the dark background. Anja and Valdek are drawn in black, creating a contrast between the
two and the path. In the foreground contains a house from which the couple seems to be exiting from.
The contrast of the mice against the path and the path against the background pull the reader s focus.

Digging Seamus Heaney Analysis
The poem Digging, is an explorative revelation into the identity of the poet, Seamus Heaney. The
poem reflects upon the author s journey to veer from but ultimately honor his rich family traditions.
The author s family, one of dedicated potato and turf diggers, pass on the ideals of commitment and
diligence through their work from generation to generation. Seamus Heaney, the first man in the past
three generations has chosen not to dig in such a way. Rather, Heaney trades the family spade in for an
ink pen. Through the symbolism of the poet s pen to record the memories of his father and
grandfather, Heaney proves that one s identity is not defined by heritage, but rather by interests and
strengths. The author first introduces his pen as symbolic of discovering his personal identity despite
the expectations of heritage when he says, Between my finger and my thumb/ The squat pen rests;
snug as a gun. (Heaney 1). This line is suggestive that the author did not chose his as a writer identity
for himself, rather it was destined for him. Heaney describes the pen as resting between his finger and
thumb rather than his hand holding the pen. This word choice gives a sense of greater power to the
pen rather than his hand. The pen in this case is symbolic of the notion that the author s passion and
strength in writing was destined for him in such a way that heritage and tradition could not sway the
course of his life. The author further solidifies that it is his destiny to embrace his identity as a writer
when he mentions, The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. (Heaney 1). The image of the gun being snug
resting in the author s hand is suggestive that the pen belongs in his hand, and fits well. The
symbolism of the pen being snug in the poet s hand is evocative of the author being content with his
decision to be a poet. The reader is comfortable with the idea of the pen being snug in the poet s hand
but the author immediately instills unease in the reader s mind when he says, snug as a gun, (Heaney
1). The poet utilizes this simile to contribute to the symbolism of the pen as the author s quest to verify
his identity. A gun is powerful, permanent, and commands attention. The author uses this simile to

Geographic Distortion Lab Report
Project 1: Plotting Coordinates and Projections

Part A: Reference Map Projection
Moon Township, PA: 80.2072W 40.5081N
Map showing Moon Township, Pennsylvania in a Robinson projection format.
This is a Robinson projection that is centered at coordinates 80.2072°W and 0°N. Scales are true at
38°N and S and are equal at all corresponding latitudes that are equal distance from equator. I chose it
because it is a good compromise and is easy on the eyes. The amount of distortion is low within 45° of
the equator and greater towards the poles.

The standard parallels are 20 and 60 and between these distortion is minimal. This projection would
be particularly good as the base of a poverty map because the size of any area on the map is a true
proportion to its size on the earth. Poverty rate per 10,000 can be displayed in a dot density map. A dot
density shows the concentration of a quality in an area. One dot can represent every 10,000 people.
The map will not represent the results correctly if the areas are not in true proportion. Also, if areas are
not in the right proportion, countries that are larger will look less dense and countries that are smaller
will look too dense.

Dialectic Journal The Road Essay
Dialectical Journal Entry #1
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Quotation:
Look at me, the man said.
He turned and looked. He looked like he d been crying.
Just tell me.
We wouldn t ever eat anybody, would we?
No. Of course not.
Even if we were starving?
We re starving now.
You said we weren t.
I said we weren t dying. I didn t say we weren t starving.
But we wouldn t.
No. We wouldn t.
No matter what.
No. No matter what.
Because we re the good guys.
Yes.
And we re carrying the fire.
And we re carrying the fire. Yes.

Quotation:
He d come down with a fever and they lay in the woods like fugitives. Nowhere to build a fire.
Nowhere safe. The boy sat in the leaves watching him. His eyes brimming. Are you going to die,
Papa? he said. Are you going to die?
No. I m just sick.
I m really scared.
I know. It s all right. I m going to get better. You ll see.
His dreams brightened. The vanished world returned (186 187).
Response:
(CL) The last prediction made, foresaw an early death for the man leaving the boy on his own.
The man tells his son earlier in the story that there is nothing wrong with having nightmares, for if
they are having good dreams it means they have given up and he doesn t want the boy to give up. The
man s dreams are becoming brighter and the world before the fire is coming into his head. The man is
giving up. The prediction made earlier is coming true. (S) Cormac McCarthy
doesn t use quotes at all in this novel which implies a world so inhuman, hopeless and desiccated there
is no need or use of this punctuation. This style is very apparent in this quote as the man continues to
give up and becomes fatigued. Also, McCarthy adding the fact that the man s dreams are becoming
more lighthearted and content right after it is revealed he his becoming sick adds a large sense of
foreshadowing.

The Role Of Class In The Gilded Age And Progressive Era
Class
To begin, class influenced the Gilded Age and Progressive Era in the changing working conditions as
a response to industrialization. Class was also apparent in Gilded Age politics and in the changing
political culture that foreshadowed the bureaucratic government of the Progressives. Middle Class
Progressives played a vital role in America by seeking reform and influence among the upper and
working class. Thus, class assumed a prominent role in influencing the Gilded Age and Progressive
Era. Changing Working Conditions
In the 19th century, there were several structural changes in the nature of work. These changes
included deskilling of jobs, which led to the decline of the heroic artisan and economic depressions.
All these factors contributed to tense strikes between workers and employers. During the Antebellum
period, most white American workers were self reliant, but the nature of work and production began to
shift after the Civil War, as the industrial workplace increased in size, immigration swelled, and the
number of wage workers surpassed that of self employed men. Thus, heroic artisans experienced
threats with the emergence of a class of permanent wage workers, which killed their republic dreams
for American economic self sufficiency, property ownership, and self employment. Nevertheless, the
real challenge for white wage Americans began in the 1870s and 1880s, as xenophobic anxieties of
Chinese workers emerged. [1]
Additionally, the late 19th century was

The United States V. Paramount Pictures (1948)
After World War II, the filmmaking industry experienced a dramatic change. The Paramount decision
and the development of the Hollywood Blacklist created a hostile environment and a tumultuous time
for the filmmaking industry. Although the effects would rattle the industry to its core, it was
instrumental in shaping the filmmaking business into what we know today. United States v. Paramount
Pictures (1948) was a landmark United States Supreme Court case that changed the way filmmakers,
producers and theaters would operate forever. It was seen as the proverbial first nail in the coffin of
the old Hollywood studio system. Under this system, film studios also owner the theaters where their
pictures were shown. Therefore, specific theater chains would only show the films that were produced
by the studio that owned them. Further, the studios that created the film also had the directors, writers,
actors, set designers, etc. under contract. To take it even further, the studios also owned the
development laboratories and distribution channels. Basically, the studios were vertically integrated
and created a de facto oligopoly. The federal government had no choice but to step in. The studios
unfair practices led to the suing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Communists in the film industry was real and should be taken seriously. For an example of how this
affected successful careers, we could take a look at Adrian Scott. He was a famed producer who

Saving innocent people and exposing the bad guys is what heroes do. Bradley Manning did just that
when he leaked United States government cables and videos to WikiLeaks. His intent was to expose
the killing of innocent civilians as part of the Iraqi war and to inform citizens so that they could take
action. He is now imprisoned and facing twenty two felony counts, all of which incriminate him as a
traitor to the U.S. and that could result in him serving fifty two years behind bars. Manning believed
that the U.S. government was committing war crimes and that the world should know about the

Manning was identified as the individual who leaked the horrifying Collateral Murder video, widely
distributed and viewed on the Internet, in which several innocent Iraqis as well as two Reuters
journalists are gunned down by a U.S. Apache helicopter. The trove of information leaked also
contained The Iraq War Logs and Afghan War Diary (Lucas). The Iraqi War Logs and the Afghan War
Diary are a compilation of documents about the cover up of information pertaining to civilians
tortured and killed by international forces (Karhula). The documents released include both classified
and unclassified documents. The released information show evidence of clear war crimes and torture
of which the U.S. had full knowledge (Madar 2). Manning s actions were not rewarded as those of a
patriot whistleblower but treated as those of a war time spy or criminal. The twenty two charges, the
most serious of which is aiding the enemy who was identified by the prosecution in his case as Al

protection against reprisals as a result of disclosing evidence of improper or illegal activities on the
part of the federal government (Whitaker 2). Consequently, persons disclosing the information should

Essay on Raphael Sanzio s Life and Accomplishments
Raffaello Sanzio was an amazing artist from the late 1400 s to the early 1500 s, who created many
amazing paintings that helped change the style of medieval art to Renaissance art. Without him, the
style of art now would most likely be more primitive and not as advanced as it should be. This is
because he made many advances including more realistic painting. His most important paintings
include The School Of Athens , the Sistine Madonna , and the Marriage of the Virgin . Not only are
those some of his most famous paintings, they also show the realisticness that changed the world.

cultural center that encouraged the arts. The arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was his apprentice at the town of Perugia. Since Perugino was a master painter this greatly
influenced Raphael s young life and encouraged him to become an artist. Raphael, before exiting
apprenticeship, made a few amazing paintings. These include the Mond Crucifixion, The Three
Graces, The Knight s Dream, and The Marriage of the Virgin, which I will mention later.
Raphael made many very detailed paintings. My choices for his most contributing paintings are The
School of Athens, The Sistine Madonna, and The Marriage of The Virgin. They were just a few of the
many amazing paintings that Raphael has painted. The School of Athens was possibly Raphael s most
popular painting. It shows representations of many mathematicians, philosophers, and scientists of the
Renaissance. The two people walking down the middle of the hall are Aristotle and Plato who were
very important contributors to the way of western thinking, and in different ways, their philosophies
were incorporated into Christianity. Plato is holding the book called The Timaeus. Plato points up
because in his philosophy the changing world that we see around us is just a shadow of a higher, truer
reality that is eternal and unchanging (and include things like goodness and beauty). Aristotle holds
his hand down, because in his philosophy, the only reality is the reality that we can see and

The Varsity Crew Team
Our presentation will summarize the Army Crew Team Case, discussing the differing leadership
characteristics between the Varsity Crew and the Junior Varsity Crew. In 1852, Harvard and Yale had
their respective crews compete against one another, which began the tradition of sports in American
universities. Today s standards require that crewmates make a year long commitment to the team.
However, the racing that we commonly associate with crew does not occur until Spring. The ultimate
goal of a crew team is to win against its opponents in these races, which focuses on the task pressures
within a crew team. In addition, crewmates must move at the same pace, because the outperformance,
or hubris, of one crewmate could slow down the shell. The US Olympic Committee surveyed dozens
of crew coaches indicating which dimensions they thought were most important for achieving top
performance. They asked coaches with little and lots of experience to indicate the importance of ...

The paradox is that the Varsity team is comprised of athletes with the best technical and conditioning
skills. Team members should have both strong technical and interpersonal skills. However, reality
does not always match to theory as in the case of the Varsity Crew, which lacked the interpersonal
skills to mesh well as a team. This aforementioned concept is a component of the Characteristics of
Team Excellence, created by Larson and LaFasto, and we will discuss more components from this
model during our presentation. Further, The Hill Model for team leadership states that effective team
performance is dependent on the leader, which suggests that it was Coach P s responsibility to ensure
that the interpersonal relationships between team members were healthy and that any conflict was

Descriptive Essay About The Walk
The Walk 25, 24, 23, 22 as I m watching the numbers drop on the screen, the anticipation and nerves
build up on the elevator. I look around for other girls dressed in the mandatory emerald green shirts,
but only the red and yellow shirts obligatory for other choirs. My mind races as I envision about the
doubts people had when I told them I was going. My teachers asking me if it was worth it to travel all
the way to Philadelphia for some choir. Or my friends questioning me if this singing thing was
substantial enough to miss a week of school right before exams. Is this really worth the experience?
Scenarios start making themselves up in my mind. Are the girls going to be nice? Is everyone going to
know someone else? Will I sit next to someone who hates my personality? Ding! The elevator doors
open to a chaotic scene in the lobby. Red and yellow shirts run around like swarms of little ants.
Bumblebee parents, dressed in Kodály shirts like fans at a football game, only stare at their cell
phones looking at the rigorous schedule that s set for their kids in the next few days. Blue shirts from
the exclusive choir are like fireflies; They show up here and there, but there are never as many as
people believe there are. Then there are the ladybugs in the green shirts. They are sporadically placed
as if someone had tossed them up into the air and did not care where they would land. I squirmed past
the crowd of solemn business men who look uncomfortable with the disarray happening behind them
and came face to face with the ocean of colored shirts As I forced my way through the mass of colored
shirts towards the giant glass doors on the other side, I begin to think about how I got to this place. I
can remember being a little 5th grader ecstatic with the thought of getting my yellow shirt and being
in a national choir. The irony is that people say you feel more confident with yourself as you get older.
Back then, however, I wasn t nervous at all and felt completely confident with myself. Now, I am so
distressed I cannot even eat any food because of the butterflies in my stomach. Of course maybe that
is because this is was my 6th time auditioning and 3rd time getting accepted. There were 3 whole

The history of mental illness in the United States as for other parts of the world is ever changing.
Mental illness have been seen as insanity, source of sorcery, treated through the church, seen as
genetic based etc. through the centuries. For example, due to the belief that mental illness was caused
by evil spirit during the stone age, the cure was trepanation (History of mental illness lecture). We no
longer see the use of trepanation because over time, knowledge of mental illness has evolved. In the

psychologists has achieved their own work to better the field. However, I believe that the use of
psychoactive drugs will remain the most significant throughout the twenty first century. I say this
because, our generation has become quite dependent on drugs. For example, according to a
publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 59 percent of all U.S. adults are
currently on at least one prescription drug, and 15 percent of all U.S. adults are on at least five
prescription drugs (Snyder 2016).Futhermore,we find over the counter medicine, there are numerous
painkillers available on the market, and most of all as we evolve, scientist will eventually find a way
to better than and lessen the negative effects that comes with them. We live in a society were money
and time is of importance and in my opinion, psychoactive drugs is the most cost effective and fastest
method to deal with mental illness; Because of that, with work, it has the most potential of remaining

Roman Polanski s Memoirs Of A Pianist
Roman Polanski s heartfelt and honorable interpretation of the true horrors of the Holocaust, (based on
the memoir of famed Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman,) appears at face value as just another
blockbuster period piece. Yet it offers so much more. Polanski expertly crafts filmmaking artistry with
true life, allowing the viewer to be completely immersed in a time previously known to them only
through history books. Upon the first viewing I was restless, overwhelmed and unsuspecting of the
sheer weight of what I had previously considered to be another film pandering to an audience of mock
sympathy. By watching it a second time, I was fully capable of appreciating the stunning and
emotionally demanding story of one man s (at times, reluctant) ... Show more content on

One scene in particular achieved this goal completely. During one of the final scenes of the film,
Szpilman is in hiding, and attempts to open a can of soup. He creeps out of his hiding spot in an old
abandoned house to find something to open the can with. As he attempts to pry the can open, he falls
directly in the sight of an SS Officer. Instead of shooting him, the officer asks Szpilman a few
questions, resulting in Szpilman playing piano for the Nazi. As tense and emotional as this scene is to
watch, the audience also receives a moment of joy. Polanski uses a high angle to give the audience the
impression that they too are looking down on Szpilman as he plays the piano, making him look even
weaker and trapped than he already was. However, the camera angle then alternates, showing the
audience the Nazi officer and Szpilman on the same level, allowing us a brief moment of tenderness in
an otherwise violent and depressing world. As Szpilman plays, direct sunlight illuminates him,
highlighting the pain and anguish written on his face. (2:01 2:07) This scene is certainly romanticized
from the original version as told to us by Szpilman. In his memoir, he declares, Do what you like to
me. I m not leaving from here. (Page 177) It is hard to distinguish truth from fiction in this account.
Did Szpilman really speak with such courage, with such

Brown Recluse Research Paper
While almost all spiders have venom and possess the ability to bite, most arachnids found in New
Jersey pose little to no risk to humans. With that said, a few potentially dangerous species do reside in
Jersey, and knowing the habit and appearance of these venomous spiders can help you avoid them.
Brown Recluse Spider
An adult brown recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) measures between 6 and 11 millimeters with a dark
brown to dull yellow coloring. The most distinctive characteristic is the violin or fiddle shape mark
located on the cephalothorax. Unlike other spiders who have 8 eyes, the brown recluse only has six.
However, counting the eyes of a spider can be a bit difficult without a magnifying glass or
microscope. The brown recluse dwells in barns, homes, basements, storage boxes, woodpiles, behind
furniture and various other dark, sheltered areas. The brown recluse hunts for its food and doesn t use
its web for catching prey.
A bite from the brown recluse may go undetected until symptoms start to appear several hours later. In
serious cases, tissue damage, necrosis or open wounds that won t heat can occur from the bite of this
spider. The bite also poses a fatal risk to children, the elderly and individuals suffering from a weaken

Modern State Of The People s Republic Of China
Since 1949, the developed intrusive modern state of the People s Republic of China or PRC has

to be populated with over 95% Muslim Turkic speaking residents known as the Uyghurs . Though the
Uyghurs speak and practice their own language and culture, they are politically citizens of the PRC
and the use of terms such as Han and Uyghur people, are only used as constructions to generalize
groups that are contradictory. With migration of Han Chinese flowing into this area and conductive

The PRC has recurrently emphasized the importance of interethnic integration of the Uyghurs into a

undermined by the central government. Compared to the Muslims that are living in eastern and central
China, the Uyghurs face more restrictions on their religious expression and way of life (Poh) such as
praying in schools, women being criticized on wearing headscarves, and even studying the Qur an in
Arabic is controlled. Furthermore, since more Han Chinese have been moving into the Xinjiang area,
economic contingencies as well as the dominant use of Han Chinese has been gradually phased out in
most educational institutions in Xinjiang (Poh). While Beijing has incessantly asserted that the
developments made to the area has significantly improved the Uyghur s livelihood, the minority group
cannot help but to still resonate the deep seated bitterness stemmed from decades worth of
discrimination, perceived religious and cultural suppression, and economic disparities (Poh). These
increasing ethnic tensions have resulted in significant inter ethnic violence in Xinjiang such as the

cost, relative abundance of materials, and quality product performance. The majority of developing
countries are today faced with an ever increasing problem of providing sufficient yet low cost housing
in sufficient numbers. In the last few decades, shelter conditions have been worsening: resources have
remained insufficient, housing demand has increased and the urgency to provide immediate practical
solutions has become more critical.

Domesticity of Giraffes and Fox in a Tree Stump
THE DOMESTICITY OF GIRAFFES AND FOX IN A TREE STUMP SPEECH. Good
morning/Afternoon class, in my speech I will be discussing my understanding of the poems
Domesticity of Giraffes and Fox in A Tree Stump by Judith Beveridge. Moral values and meanings are
portrayed through these two poems by expressing and clarifying the value of life and exploring
humanity s relationship with animals. The two poems clarify the value of life through both active and
passive roles. In Fox in a tree stump an active role is portrayed which gives the reader a strong affect

Thankyou. Good morning/Afternoon class and Mr. Edwards, in my speech I will be discussing my
understanding of the poems Domesticity of Giraffes and Fox in A Tree Stump by Judith
Beveridge.Moral values and meanings are portrayed through these two poems by expressing and
clarifying the value of life and exploring humanity s relationship with animals. | The two poems
clarify the value of life through both active and passive roles. In Fox in a tree stump an active role is
portrayed which gives the reader a strong affect on how much the victim who has their life threatened,
values life. The passive role, as in Domesticity of giraffes , gives the reader a strong affect of the value
of life on the observer s perspective in watching the actions of the victim. | The Domesticity of giraffes
is about freedom. The Phrase, The domesticity of giraffes is a metaphor for life without life, the
enclosure where the giraffe lives is a metaphor for no life as her life is very lonely and restricted. On
the other hand, her natural habitat is a metaphor for life , as is identified in she could be a big slim bird
just before flight , essentially meaning freedom. | The poem also portrays the agony and grief of the
giraffe confined in captivity suffers, the poet dramatises the loneliness the giraffe experiences by using
metaphors such as She languorously swings her tongue, this metaphor implies the giraffe is tired and
weary and has become lazy, complacent and bored

Compare And Contrast Bud Light And Coor Light
There are many light beers out there in today s market that have their very own unique taste and
exquisite way to advertise their product. Within the light beer market the two well known beers are
Bud Light, and Coors Light. Bud Light advertising appeals more to being a very social and party
intended beer, Whereas Coors Light takes more of a traditional stance. Bud Light on the other hand
advertise towards today society by giving us a summertime feeling with the cruise ship and the group
of people drinking while having a live band. Coors Light keeps a traditional look as being winter time,
with the Rocky Mountains, and bold letters that says, GIVE HEAT THE COLD SHOULDER. I
myself find I m more drawn into the Bud Light advertisement because of the season it s representing,
the color, and even the social event that s going on. Both Bud Light and Coors Light make excellence
light beers, but an appropriate choice depends on the beer drinker taste, finances, and household
accommodations. In the Bud Light advertisement the colors is the main thing you notice. Its many
different shades of blue with a hint of white which gives off a warm feeling almost like summertime.
Bud Light stays true to their colors whether it is in magazine to even their web page. The colors
remain blue like their cans and bottles. The text within it picture are not very big but the name of the
product which is Bud Light appears in five places throughout the advertisement. The name is pretty

Analysis Of The Poem Dream Deferred
Pursuing Dreams
The overall meaning of this poem is about the consequences of not pursuing your dreams. For some
this can be a horrible thing while for others, it can be a blessing in disguise. The poem begins with a
simple question, What happens to a dream deferred (line 1)? What occurs when an individual goes in
another direction from a goal or ambition they had once desired? Does it cause a weight to be lifted?
Does it cause fear and anxiety? This poem focusing on the consequences or benefits that are the result
of a dream that goes unachieved. The speaker lays out the possible different outcomes that would
occur when someone gives up on their dreams. The first of the possible scenarios is listed as Does it
dry up / like a raisin in the sun (lines 3 4)? The dream begins as a youthful, ambitious goal for life.
This goal slowly begins to fade as the person ages. Whether this is due to shifts in priorities or
unforeseen circumstances, things have changed over time. A dream that once seemed to be very
achievable is now nothing more than a small memory in the back of ones mind. The metaphor that is
used here is a grape drying up to become a raisin, just like their dreams can shrink down into a
fraction of what they once were. The next scenario is a how a deferred dream can affect you a little
more harshly. The speaker asks, Or fester like a sore / And then run (lines 4 5)? The sore that is
mentioned can be thought of as more of a wound. It is not so much the result

Camera Angles In X-Men
A Visual Analysis of the Effects of Camera Angles in the film X Men 2000
The X Men is a science fiction action movie that tells the story of humans born with extraordinary
abilities, called mutants, and the conflict they encounter fitting in with ordinary humans. The story
describes shifting power dynamics between the two groups, as the mutant population is growing,
which results in certain factions of humans attempting to enforce stricter controls and regulations over
the mutants, because they are fearful of the mutant s strength. The film X Men, belongs to a series of
nine movies, the first film was created in 2000. The movie used multiple camera angles to express the
incongruity in levels of power between between the humans and mutants, and to show the
relationships among the characters and to make the audience feel empathy for some of the characters.

Qualitative And Quantitative
Introduction
This chapter aims in pertaining to the ways of producing and analysing data so that theories can be
tested, accepted and rejected. Since, this study is based on Form V repeaters disposition to study
mathematics in the Mauritian schools, the only way to assure the latest update associated with validity
and reliability of the data is to conduct a research. In order to have a deep understanding of the second
year students, a mixture of different method will be used which include both the qualitative and
quantitative methods.
Qualitative and quantitative research
In a nutshell, there are two main broad approaches used in the investigation of phenomenon which
include; the qualitative and the quantitative approach. One of the main objectives of qualitative
research is to provide a specific and detailed description of the research topic as it is more explanatory
in nature. The qualitative research mainly deals with verbal data rather than measurements and the
employed are mostly observation and interviews. It also has a subjective approach as it seeks to
identify human behaviour and the reasons that direct such behaviour. However, since the researcher is
heavily involved in the process, he or she tends to interpret the data obtained according to their own
biased views which skews the data gathered. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes use of tools such as questionnaires, surveys, measurement and other measureable data. The
quantitative research is mainly objective in its approach in the sense that it only seeks precise
measurements. It has to be noted the structure of the quantitative research design has remained static
for centuries. Therefore it has kept its standardise format across many scientific fields and disciplines.
The main strength of making use of this approach is that, it is an excellent way of finalising results
while proving or disapproving a

What Accounting Considerations Are There For Companies...
E) What notable accounting considerations are there for companies in this industry? Most companies
in the telecommunication industry rely heavily on assumptions and estimations when dealing with
their number one assets: telecommunication licenses and Goodwill. A summary of the critical
accounting estimates used in preparing Verizon financial statements is as follows: Wireless licenses
and Goodwill are a significant component of the company s consolidated assets. Both wireless
licenses and Goodwill are treated as indefinite lived intangible assets and, therefore are not amortized,
but rather are tested for impairment annually in the fourth fiscal quarter, unless there are events
requiring an earlier assessment or changes in circumstances during an interim period that indicate
these assets may not be recoverable. Verizon believes its estimates and assumptions are reasonable and
represent appropriate marketplace considerations as of the valuation date. Although the company uses
consistent methodologies in developing the assumptions and estimates underlying the fair value
calculations used in its impairment tests, these estimates are uncertain by nature and can vary from
actual results. It is possible that in the future there may be changes in the assumptions, including
estimated cash flow projections, margins, and growth rates and discount rates which could result in
different fair value estimates and an impairment charge. F) Is the company in a highly regulated
industry?

Impulsivity And Its Effect On The Risk Of A Reward
Impulsivity has been defined numerous ways, but it is best explained as behavior without adequate
thought and can be commonly assessed using a number of different measures. Two measures
frequently used are the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS 11) and delayed discounting tasks. The BIS 11
is a self report questionnaire that produces global impulsivity scores and scores on three second order
factors: attentional, motor, and non planning. Each subscale of the BIS 11 assesses a different type of
impulsivity. The attentional subscale measures an individual s inability to focus attention or
concentrate on one subject, motor impulsivity tests action without thinking, and non planning refers to
the lack of future orientation.
On the other hand, delayed discounting is a behavioral assessment. It is considered a functional
measure because it gauges the participants choice in actual scenarios, it does not just ask about it.
Discounting pertains to the decrease in the subjective value of a reward as its uncertainty increases or
as the delay until its receipt increases (Du et al. 2002). For example, if a reward with the same value
can be obtained immediately or after some delay, the individual deciding will choose the immediate
reward.
Since the Barratt Impulsivity Scale and delayed discounting tasks differ in that the BIS 11 is a self
report questionnaire and delayed discounting is a behavior assessment, there is not enough evidence to
say they measure the same thing. Therefore, several

The Age Of Enlightenment And The American Government
The U.S government although created in the late 18th century incorporates ideas about government
originating back to the early 11th century. The American Founders were influenced immensely by
preceding government philosophy and authoritative documents. The Age of Enlightenment,
specifically, was a period of political novelty and innovation leading to vast governmental and societal
advancements. The American FOunders were part of the ENlightenment and adapted an abundance of
the innovated ideas to formulate our government. Similarly, the principles established in the Magna
Carta and English Bill of RIghts are paramount to the formation of the Constitution. Collectively they
formulated concepts such as limited governments and challenged many dubious institutions and
notions.
When creating the American government the founders looked to many examples of both good and bad
government for guidance, learning from the past as well as their own experiences at self government.
They were curious about what type of government would work best, so when late 18th century Europe
found themselves in a social as well as intellectual revolution the founders were intrigued. The Age of
Enlightenment threatened established institutions and authority by advancing the belief in science and
reason which led to the study of human nature and questioned the traditional government. The
founders begun to follow the admirable philosophers of the era as the created concepts ambivalent to
the pre existing

Evolution By Natural Selection
Evolution is the change of traits of a species over several generations. A famous biologist named
Charles Darwin, theorized that evolution happens by natural selection. Many people believe that
evolution requires millions of years but scientists believe that evolution can occur rather quickly. In
Today s world, we have better health care, food, shelter and hygiene. Some might question if our
advanced medicine and technology can lead to a stop in evolution, but in fact we are still evolving
according to some scientists (Neild). There has been much debate and controversy over this statement
but there is no concrete proof to say that humans are not evolving. In fact, there is evidence that
evolution is happening at this very moment. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the past 30,000 years, human brains have decreased about ten percent which is said to be
equivalent to a tennis ball. Wilkens states, Based on skulls found in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East,
the human brain was about 1,500 cubic centimeters 30,000 years ago, and now it s down to about
1,359 cubic centimeters. It might seem like a slow process but losing that much brain mass can surely
affect humans one way or another. Although some people might think that humans are getting dumber
because of the shrinking of the brain, some scientists strongly believe that is not the case. There are
several theories that explain why this phenomenon is happening. One theory states that humans now
tend to rely more on society and smaller brains help us work together. It also states that smaller brains
cause humans to be less aggressive, giving us many social advantages (Hullinger). Another and more
interesting theory states that the reason behind the loss of the human brain mass is because,
Domestication leads to smaller brains. (Alban) Humans learned how to cultivate, find food and shelter.
People no longer need to learn survival skills like our ancient ancestors once did which means that that
location in our brain in no longer being used. A good example of this are domestic animals. Pet

New Media Expands Old Philosophy Essay
This famous quote summarizes the gloomy philosophy of existentialism. Schopenhauer, using this
philosophy, believed that the universe was meaningless and irrational, and that his irrational life was
full of choices that brought him in contact with the nothingness of the universe. Existentialism has no
definite description because individuals create their own meaning by making sense of the world as it
pertains to the individual. While individuals create their own meaning, there are several common
themes that are followed. These themes fall under the general idea that reality is absurd and it is the
responsibility of humans to make their own choices and accept the consequences of these choices in
regard to the individual s experience. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I suppose I shall have to get back behind the pattern when it comes night... I ve got out at last, in spite
of you and Jane. And I ve pulled off most of the paper, so you can t put me back! (Gilman 9) Jane, in
anti existentialism ideology, allowed her anxiety of the wallpaper to drive her crazy. Had Jane been an
existentialist, she would have realized that this anxiety meant that she needed to get away from the

In the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the main character, Charlie, experiences dread and

he still respected her despite what she did. Charlie knew that the dread was a sign that the thoughts
were not good and that suppressing them was the wrong choice, however, he never tried to change it

The Stranger, by Albert Camus, also demonstrated how the main character, Meursault, found
temporary dread and anxiety in little things along his journey from the time of his mother s death to
his conviction. Upon learning of the passing of his mother, Meursault follows existentialist

Howl The Loud Mournful Cry Of The Beat Generation Poem...
The very title is quite explicit: howl, the loud, mournful cry of the wild beast. Published in (1956) by
Allen Ginsberg (1926 1997), this poem might certainly be one of the best known examples of the Beat
Generation literature. Not only does it express all the symptomatic behaviours of this counter culture
movement, but also it gives us a fascinating insight into the various Beat Generation s artists minds
and experiences at least, as reported by Allen Ginsberg. How does the author manage to translate the
feeling of otherness and anxious protestations of an entire generation of artists ? We will first analyse
the form of expression and identity of the individual described in the poem before focusing on the use

Ginsberg does admit that he and Salomon share the same invisible humor (Part III, l.9) , and the words
and expression used in the poem might aim to exaggerate the absurdity of a situation, not only to
highlight the contrast between them and the rest of the world, but also to make the reader laugh and
the audience did laugh during Ginsberg s first reading. But perhaps the irony is even deeper than that,
and Ginsberg jokes not at the expense of their own absurd behaviour, but on the mainstream people s
ignorance on what normality should

how bad they smell? Small things like not wearing deodorant will put up a barrier from a girl being
able to get to know how great the guy can be. So some wear deodorant; that s great, but what good
does deodorant do if they don t look clean? To clarify, showers are these amazing inventions that
makes everyone nice and clean instead of rundown, sketchy, and disgusting.Hence, a guy who looks
clean and nice has a stronger chance of a girl talking to them and/or like them on a daily basis. Now,
for all the boys out there, cherish this advice; All the girls see a clean cut guy and say wow....did you
see him today? or he looks really cute . There happens to be this feeling that most guys would like for
this to happen to

  • 2. Benefits Of Immunizations Not only does immunizations save parents money, it saves the government money. Not all people are wealthy enough to pay for insurance, or have jobs that provide families with health insurance. Some children are on government insurance like Medicaid or All Kids, vaccinations are paid for when on government insurances. If a parent chooses not to vaccinate their children that are on Medicaid or All Kids, and they become sick; the government will have to pay for the expenses of treatment. To me, that is not fair because if the child is getting free health insurance, he or she should have to get vaccinated to help prevent disease. The path they take forms a Swastika, however, the path is lined with trees, and houses. Mountains and factories line the horizon. Other people are traveling further along the path, taking different routes, however, Valdek and Anja wonder which path to take. The white path creates a contrast to the dark background. Anja and Valdek are drawn in black, creating a contrast between the two and the path. In the foreground contains a house from which the couple seems to be exiting from. The contrast of the mice against the path and the path against the background pull the reader s focus. 2. Interpretation Spiegelman s depiction of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Digging Seamus Heaney Analysis The poem Digging, is an explorative revelation into the identity of the poet, Seamus Heaney. The poem reflects upon the author s journey to veer from but ultimately honor his rich family traditions. The author s family, one of dedicated potato and turf diggers, pass on the ideals of commitment and diligence through their work from generation to generation. Seamus Heaney, the first man in the past three generations has chosen not to dig in such a way. Rather, Heaney trades the family spade in for an ink pen. Through the symbolism of the poet s pen to record the memories of his father and grandfather, Heaney proves that one s identity is not defined by heritage, but rather by interests and strengths. The author first introduces his pen as symbolic of discovering his personal identity despite the expectations of heritage when he says, Between my finger and my thumb/ The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. (Heaney 1). This line is suggestive that the author did not chose his as a writer identity for himself, rather it was destined for him. Heaney describes the pen as resting between his finger and thumb rather than his hand holding the pen. This word choice gives a sense of greater power to the pen rather than his hand. The pen in this case is symbolic of the notion that the author s passion and strength in writing was destined for him in such a way that heritage and tradition could not sway the course of his life. The author further solidifies that it is his destiny to embrace his identity as a writer when he mentions, The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. (Heaney 1). The image of the gun being snug resting in the author s hand is suggestive that the pen belongs in his hand, and fits well. The symbolism of the pen being snug in the poet s hand is evocative of the author being content with his decision to be a poet. The reader is comfortable with the idea of the pen being snug in the poet s hand but the author immediately instills unease in the reader s mind when he says, snug as a gun, (Heaney 1). The poet utilizes this simile to contribute to the symbolism of the pen as the author s quest to verify his identity. A gun is powerful, permanent, and commands attention. The author uses this simile to justify ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Geographic Distortion Lab Report Project 1: Plotting Coordinates and Projections Patrick Barcaskey pvb5192 Part A: Reference Map Projection Moon Township, PA: 80.2072W 40.5081N Map showing Moon Township, Pennsylvania in a Robinson projection format. This is a Robinson projection that is centered at coordinates 80.2072°W and 0°N. Scales are true at 38°N and S and are equal at all corresponding latitudes that are equal distance from equator. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The standard parallels are 20 and 60 and between these distortion is minimal. This projection would be particularly good as the base of a poverty map because the size of any area on the map is a true proportion to its size on the earth. Poverty rate per 10,000 can be displayed in a dot density map. A dot density shows the concentration of a quality in an area. One dot can represent every 10,000 people. The map will not represent the results correctly if the areas are not in true proportion. Also, if areas are not in the right proportion, countries that are larger will look less dense and countries that are smaller will look too dense. Sources Getty Research Institute (2000). • 7. (CL) The last prediction made, foresaw an early death for the man leaving the boy on his own. The man tells his son earlier in the story that there is nothing wrong with having nightmares, for if they are having good dreams it means they have given up and he doesn t want the boy to give up. The man s dreams are becoming brighter and the world before the fire is coming into his head. The man is giving up. The prediction made earlier is coming true. (S) Cormac McCarthy doesn t use quotes at all in this novel which implies a world so inhuman, hopeless and desiccated there is no need or use of this punctuation. This style is very apparent in this quote as the man continues to give up and becomes fatigued. Also, McCarthy adding the fact that the man s dreams are becoming more lighthearted and content right after it is revealed he his becoming sick adds a large sense of foreshadowing. • 8. The Role Of Class In The Gilded Age And Progressive Era Class To begin, class influenced the Gilded Age and Progressive Era in the changing working conditions as a response to industrialization. Class was also apparent in Gilded Age politics and in the changing political culture that foreshadowed the bureaucratic government of the Progressives. Middle Class Progressives played a vital role in America by seeking reform and influence among the upper and working class. Thus, class assumed a prominent role in influencing the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. Changing Working Conditions In the 19th century, there were several structural changes in the nature of work. These changes included deskilling of jobs, which led to the decline of the heroic artisan and economic depressions. All these factors contributed to tense strikes between workers and employers. During the Antebellum period, most white American workers were self reliant, but the nature of work and production began to shift after the Civil War, as the industrial workplace increased in size, immigration swelled, and the number of wage workers surpassed that of self employed men. Thus, heroic artisans experienced threats with the emergence of a class of permanent wage workers, which killed their republic dreams for American economic self sufficiency, property ownership, and self employment. Nevertheless, the real challenge for white wage Americans began in the 1870s and 1880s, as xenophobic anxieties of Chinese workers emerged. [1] Additionally, the late 19th century was ... • 9. The United States V. Paramount Pictures (1948) After World War II, the filmmaking industry experienced a dramatic change. The Paramount decision and the development of the Hollywood Blacklist created a hostile environment and a tumultuous time for the filmmaking industry. Although the effects would rattle the industry to its core, it was instrumental in shaping the filmmaking business into what we know today. United States v. Paramount Pictures (1948) was a landmark United States Supreme Court case that changed the way filmmakers, producers and theaters would operate forever. It was seen as the proverbial first nail in the coffin of the old Hollywood studio system. Under this system, film studios also owner the theaters where their pictures were shown. Therefore, specific theater chains would only show the films that were produced by the studio that owned them. Further, the studios that created the film also had the directors, writers, actors, set designers, etc. under contract. To take it even further, the studios also owned the development laboratories and distribution channels. Basically, the studios were vertically integrated and created a de facto oligopoly. His intent was to expose the killing of innocent civilians as part of the Iraqi war and to inform citizens so that they could take action. He is now imprisoned and facing twenty two felony counts, all of which incriminate him as a traitor to the U.S. and that could result in him serving fifty two years behind bars. Manning was identified as the individual who leaked the horrifying Collateral Murder video, widely distributed and viewed on the Internet, in which several innocent Iraqis as well as two Reuters journalists are gunned down by a U.S. Apache helicopter. The Iraqi War Logs and the Afghan War Diary are a compilation of documents about the cover up of information pertaining to civilians tortured and killed by international forces (Karhula). The documents released include both classified and unclassified documents. The released information show evidence of clear war crimes and torture of which the U.S. had full knowledge (Madar 2). Manning s actions were not rewarded as those of a patriot whistleblower but treated as those of a war time spy or criminal. The twenty two charges, the most serious of which is aiding the enemy who was identified by the prosecution in his case as Al Qaeda (Marshall), could result in life in prison. The Military Whistleblowers Protection Act outlines protection against reprisals as a result of disclosing evidence of improper or illegal activities on the part of the federal government (Whitaker 2). • 11. Essay on Raphael Sanzio s Life and Accomplishments Raffaello Sanzio was an amazing artist from the late 1400 s to the early 1500 s, who created many amazing paintings that helped change the style of medieval art to Renaissance art. Without him, the style of art now would most likely be more primitive and not as advanced as it should be. This is because he made many advances including more realistic painting. His most important paintings include The School Of Athens , the Sistine Madonna , and the Marriage of the Virgin . Not only are those some of his most famous paintings, they also show the realisticness that changed the world. Raffaello Sanzio had a very interesting young life. Since Perugino was a master painter this greatly influenced Raphael s young life and encouraged him to become an artist. Raphael, before exiting apprenticeship, made a few amazing paintings. These include the Mond Crucifixion, The Three Graces, The Knight s Dream, and The Marriage of the Virgin, which I will mention later. Raphael made many very detailed paintings. My choices for his most contributing paintings are The School of Athens, The Sistine Madonna, and The Marriage of The Virgin. They were just a few of the many amazing paintings that Raphael has painted. The School of Athens was possibly Raphael s most popular painting. It shows representations of many mathematicians, philosophers, and scientists of the Renaissance. • 12. The Varsity Crew Team Our presentation will summarize the Army Crew Team Case, discussing the differing leadership characteristics between the Varsity Crew and the Junior Varsity Crew. In 1852, Harvard and Yale had their respective crews compete against one another, which began the tradition of sports in American universities. Today s standards require that crewmates make a year long commitment to the team. However, the racing that we commonly associate with crew does not occur until Spring. The ultimate goal of a crew team is to win against its opponents in these races, which focuses on the task pressures within a crew team. In addition, crewmates must move at the same pace, because the outperformance, or hubris, of one crewmate could slow down the shell. The US Olympic Committee surveyed dozens of crew coaches indicating which dimensions they thought were most important for achieving top performance. They asked coaches with little and lots of experience to indicate the importance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This aforementioned concept is a component of the Characteristics of Team Excellence, created by Larson and LaFasto, and we will discuss more components from this model during our presentation. • 13. Descriptive Essay About The Walk The Walk 25, 24, 23, 22 as I m watching the numbers drop on the screen, the anticipation and nerves build up on the elevator. I look around for other girls dressed in the mandatory emerald green shirts, but only the red and yellow shirts obligatory for other choirs. My mind races as I envision about the doubts people had when I told them I was going. My teachers asking me if it was worth it to travel all the way to Philadelphia for some choir. Or my friends questioning me if this singing thing was substantial enough to miss a week of school right before exams. Is this really worth the experience? Scenarios start making themselves up in my mind. Are the girls going to be nice? Is everyone going to know someone else? Will I sit next to someone who hates my personality? Ding! The elevator doors open to a chaotic scene in the lobby. Red and yellow shirts run around like swarms of little ants. Bumblebee parents, dressed in Kodály shirts like fans at a football game, only stare at their cell phones looking at the rigorous schedule that s set for their kids in the next few days. Blue shirts from the exclusive choir are like fireflies; They show up here and there, but there are never as many as people believe there are. Then there are the ladybugs in the green shirts. They are sporadically placed as if someone had tossed them up into the air and did not care where they would land. I squirmed past the crowd of solemn business men who look uncomfortable with the disarray happening behind them and came face to face with the ocean of colored shirts As I forced my way through the mass of colored shirts towards the giant glass doors on the other side, I begin to think about how I got to this place. I can remember being a little 5th grader ecstatic with the thought of getting my yellow shirt and being in a national choir. The irony is that people say you feel more confident with yourself as you get older. Back then, however, I wasn t nervous at all and felt completely confident with myself. Now, I am so distressed I cannot even eat any food because of the butterflies in my stomach. Of course maybe that is because this is was my 6th time auditioning and 3rd time getting accepted. • 15. Roman Polanski s Memoirs Of A Pianist Roman Polanski s heartfelt and honorable interpretation of the true horrors of the Holocaust, (based on the memoir of famed Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman,) appears at face value as just another blockbuster period piece. Yet it offers so much more. Polanski expertly crafts filmmaking artistry with true life, allowing the viewer to be completely immersed in a time previously known to them only through history books. Upon the first viewing I was restless, overwhelmed and unsuspecting of the sheer weight of what I had previously considered to be another film pandering to an audience of mock sympathy. He creeps out of his hiding spot in an old abandoned house to find something to open the can with. As he attempts to pry the can open, he falls directly in the sight of an SS Officer. Instead of shooting him, the officer asks Szpilman a few questions, resulting in Szpilman playing piano for the Nazi. As tense and emotional as this scene is to watch, the audience also receives a moment of joy. Polanski uses a high angle to give the audience the impression that they too are looking down on Szpilman as he plays the piano, making him look even weaker and trapped than he already was. However, the camera angle then alternates, showing the audience the Nazi officer and Szpilman on the same level, allowing us a brief moment of tenderness in an otherwise violent and depressing world. As Szpilman plays, direct sunlight illuminates him, highlighting the pain and anguish written on his face. (2:01 2:07) This scene is certainly romanticized from the original version as told to us by Szpilman. In his memoir, he declares, Do what you like to me. I m not leaving from here. Most companies in the telecommunication industry rely heavily on assumptions and estimations when dealing with their number one assets: telecommunication licenses and Goodwill. A summary of the critical accounting estimates used in preparing Verizon financial statements is as follows: Wireless licenses and Goodwill are a significant component of the company s consolidated assets. Both wireless licenses and Goodwill are treated as indefinite lived intangible assets and, therefore are not amortized, but rather are tested for impairment annually in the fourth fiscal quarter, unless there are events requiring an earlier assessment or changes in circumstances during an interim period that indicate these assets may not be recoverable. Verizon believes its estimates and assumptions are reasonable and represent appropriate marketplace considerations as of the valuation date. Although the company uses consistent methodologies in developing the assumptions and estimates underlying the fair value calculations used in its impairment tests, these estimates are uncertain by nature and can vary from actual results. It is possible that in the future there may be changes in the assumptions, including estimated cash flow projections, margins, and growth rates and discount rates which could result in different fair value estimates and an impairment charge. • 29. Impulsivity And Its Effect On The Risk Of A Reward Impulsivity has been defined numerous ways, but it is best explained as behavior without adequate thought and can be commonly assessed using a number of different measures. Two measures frequently used are the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS 11) and delayed discounting tasks. The BIS 11 is a self report questionnaire that produces global impulsivity scores and scores on three second order factors: attentional, motor, and non planning. Each subscale of the BIS 11 assesses a different type of impulsivity. The attentional subscale measures an individual s inability to focus attention or concentrate on one subject, motor impulsivity tests action without thinking, and non planning refers to the lack of future orientation. On the other hand, delayed discounting is a behavioral assessment. It is considered a functional measure because it gauges the participants choice in actual scenarios, it does not just ask about it. Discounting pertains to the decrease in the subjective value of a reward as its uncertainty increases or as the delay until its receipt increases (Du et al. 2002). For example, if a reward with the same value can be obtained immediately or after some delay, the individual deciding will choose the immediate reward. Since the Barratt Impulsivity Scale and delayed discounting tasks differ in that the BIS 11 is a self report questionnaire and delayed discounting is a behavior assessment, there is not enough evidence to say they measure the same thing. Over the past 30,000 years, human brains have decreased about ten percent which is said to be equivalent to a tennis ball. Wilkens states, Based on skulls found in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the human brain was about 1,500 cubic centimeters 30,000 years ago, and now it s down to about 1,359 cubic centimeters. It might seem like a slow process but losing that much brain mass can surely affect humans one way or another. Although some people might think that humans are getting dumber because of the shrinking of the brain, some scientists strongly believe that is not the case. There are several theories that explain why this phenomenon is happening. One theory states that humans now tend to rely more on society and smaller brains help us work together. It also states that smaller brains cause humans to be less aggressive, giving us many social advantages (Hullinger). Another and more interesting theory states that the reason behind the loss of the human brain mass is because, Domestication leads to smaller brains. (Alban) Humans learned how to cultivate, find food and shelter. People no longer need to learn survival skills like our ancient ancestors once did which means that that location in our brain in no longer being used. A good example of this are domestic animals. Pet owners provide their animals with food, shelter and love. They are no longer out in the wilderness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The colonies of Virginia and Massachusetts were both established during the same time, but the ways that they were established were very different .The Virginia colony had many failures and close calls, while on the other hand Massachusetts landed a successful first settlement. Virginia began to create plantations for tobacco and Massachusetts was a seaport, both began to suffer from the increase of immigrants. The immigrants created a lot of competition for work. Both societies were engulfed with an increase of immigrants, creating a competition for jobs. Boston was in bad shape and people looked to the community for help. Virginia made its money through tobacco, and along with that came an increase in slavery. On the other hand Massachusetts did not have as great of a demand for slaves. Though both of the settlements had different tactics, neither of them could avoid the problems from increase of immigration and both relied on their separate means of making profit. To conclude, it can be seen that both colonies, had similar goals as to what needed to be done to make their colonies last, but the methods that were used were very different. From Virginia and Massachusetts it can be determined that two colonies with the same goal can come to two separate political systems based off of their economic ... • 35. New Media Expands Old Philosophy Essay This famous quote summarizes the gloomy philosophy of existentialism. Schopenhauer, using this philosophy, believed that the universe was meaningless and irrational, and that his irrational life was full of choices that brought him in contact with the nothingness of the universe. Existentialism has no definite description because individuals create their own meaning by making sense of the world as it pertains to the individual. While individuals create their own meaning, there are several common themes that are followed. These themes fall under the general idea that reality is absurd and it is the responsibility of humans to make their own choices and accept the consequences of these choices in regard to the individual s experience. And I ve pulled off most of the paper, so you can t put me back! (Gilman 9) Jane, in anti existentialism ideology, allowed her anxiety of the wallpaper to drive her crazy. Had Jane been an existentialist, she would have realized that this anxiety meant that she needed to get away from the room. However, she followed her husband s orders and stayed, therefore proving what results from not forming existentialist beliefs. In the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the main character, Charlie, experiences dread and even blackouts when he relives flashbacks of his Aunt Helen raping him as a child (Perks). Charlie represses these memories, and therefore he feels dread knowing that it should not have happened but he still respected her despite what she did. Charlie knew that the dread was a sign that the thoughts were not good and that suppressing them was the wrong choice, however, he never tried to change it and the dread continued. The Stranger, by Albert Camus, also demonstrated how the main character, Meursault, found temporary dread and anxiety in little things along his journey from the time of his mother s death to his conviction. Upon learning of the passing of his mother, Meursault follows existentialist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavior Change Assignment Analysis Behavior Change Assignment My goal for this behavior change assignment is to get at least seven hours of sleep for at least five nights a week for at least two weeks. I set my goal to be at least seven hours because that is the recommended number of hours of sleep a adult should have each night. I wanted to make this behavior change because I find myself feeling tired and exhausted throughout the day because of the lack of sleep I get. I also wanted to make this behavior change because I began to take naps in the afternoon. After waking up from these naps, I felt even more exhausted and tired than before I took the nap. I m hoping that by getting more sleep at night that I can eliminate naps so I can use my time for something more productive. This behavior goal wasn t a easy habit for me to change. What influenced me in order to implement this goal was that I was getting sick of always feeling exhausted and tired when I didn t get enough sleep. I originally thought that this goal on a scale from 1 10, 1 being the easiest and 10 being the hardest, would be a 6. I knew the goal was going to be a little challenging because I enjoy staying up late, however, I knew the goal could be attainable. I had to make a lot of changes to my daily activities in order to meet this goal. • 38. Howl The Loud Mournful Cry Of The Beat Generation Poem... The very title is quite explicit: howl, the loud, mournful cry of the wild beast. Published in (1956) by Allen Ginsberg (1926 1997), this poem might certainly be one of the best known examples of the Beat Generation literature. Not only does it express all the symptomatic behaviours of this counter culture movement, but also it gives us a fascinating insight into the various Beat Generation s artists minds and experiences at least, as reported by Allen Ginsberg. How does the author manage to translate the feeling of otherness and anxious protestations of an entire generation of artists ? We will first analyse the form of expression and identity of the individual described in the poem before focusing on the use of non conforming behaviour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The true message of the poem is complex, and does let the reader perplex on whether Ginsberg was trying to incense or deplore these individual s state. But is it truly such a dark, depressing work of art ? The Hippie movement that the Beat Generation inspired was after all a movement of peace and hope. Ginsberg does admit that he and Salomon share the same invisible humor (Part III, l.9) , and the words and expression used in the poem might aim to exaggerate the absurdity of a situation, not only to highlight the contrast between them and the rest of the world, but also to make the reader laugh and the audience did laugh during Ginsberg s first reading. But perhaps the irony is even deeper than that, and Ginsberg jokes not at the expense of their own absurd behaviour, but on the mainstream people s ignorance on what normality should ... In truth, a teenage girl would make her bed, listen to music, or watch tv, while her teenage brother would sit there and eat pizza while playing video games. Honestly, it might exist as an art, because who knew someone could be so good at being disgusting. They lay out the whole plan. First they order the pizza. Then, they take their clothes off and throw them on the floor (yes ladies, this includes dirty underwear). Afterwards, they order the pizza......and wala! Here occurs the room of a messy teenage boy. Such an amazing piece right? Of course, because every girl wants to enter a guy s room and see their underwear and week old pizza boxes on the ground .
