How Is Hope Shown In The Hollow Men
As the world was trying to find hope during a time of adversity, T.S. Eliot s poem, The Hollow Men,
presents the World War I soldiers as having an unprecedented loss of faith as well as emotional human
value. Primarily, Eliot illustrates the soldiers initial emotions after returning from war and creates an
environment that still sees hope in such negative circumstances. Most notably, the soldiers still seem
to have the strength to find signs of wishful thinking that still portrays the hope in their lives. The
soldiers are still leaning together and their dried voices are still able to whisper together (5 8). Here,
Eliot proves that the actions that the soldiers are still able to do, demonstrate the hope that is still
present. Had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly, the soldiers start to imagine what life may be like if they were dead, as their life as
living humans must feel similar. The soldiers ask if it is like this in death s other kingdom, walking
alone all while they are trembling with tenderness, (47 50). Here, Eliot considers the soldiers as
steadily losing hope in ever finding their faith that they so desperately need. The allusion of what hell
must be like also crosses the soldiers minds, a sure sign that their thoughts are not where they should
be. Just as important, are the soldiers continued thoughts of losing hope and faith, in the midst of such
critical times for them. The soldiers feel sightless and unless the eyes reaper they will only have the
hope only of empty men, (66 69). At this moment, Eliot reiterates the soldiers feelings, and how they
are content with despair. The soldiers are unwilling to open their eyes and search for their own faith,
and are set on the fact that someone else has to return their faith to them. The soldiers even consider
themselves as empty men instead of hollow which can allude to the fact that they believe they will
never be able to fill their

An Argument Against Atheism Based On The Existence Of Evil
William Rowe tries to provide answers for three interrelated questions. 1) Are there arguments for
atheism based on the existence of evil that may rationally justify someone in being an atheist? 2) How
can a theist defend this position against the argument for atheism based on the existence of evil? 3)
What position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of their belief?
Rowe makes sure the reader known what kind of evil is being dealt with or is being used in the
argument which is the central concept of the whole argument. He asserts that in order to develop the
argument for atheism based on the existence of evil; it is necessary to look at some sort of evil that out
world contains in great quantity. He states that this abundance of evil is the suffering humans and
animals.
Rowe sets out the problem by provide an argument that he believes can be used to rationally justify
someone being an atheist, William Rowe states the argument goes as follow:
1. There exist instances of intense suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have
prevented without thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse
2. An omniscient, wholly good being would prevent the occurrence of any intense suffering it could,
unless it could not do so without there by losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally
bad or worse
Therefore
3. There does not exist an omnipotent, omniscient, wholly good being.

Space Shuttles Lab Report
This report is to investigate the heat flow across the insulating tiles on the space shuttle, find the
appropriate thickness of it, and to find a suitable method and parameters to solve the problem. Crank
Nicolson method was most suitable to solve the problem as it has the highest accuracy and stability
compare to the other methods. The parameters (nx, nt) were found to be 21 and 268 to give an
accurate and quick respond. An insulating tile with 5.79cm thickness was used to provide a maximum
inner surface temperature of 176oC.
Introduction
Every space shuttles were required to travel between the Earth and space a couple of times in its entire

The Treaty Of Versailles Was A Prime Minister Of France
The Treaty of Versailles was signed June 28th, 1919 after the Big Three had argued for months about
the consequences and negotiations of the treaty. The Big Three were David Lloyd George, Georges
Clemenceau, and Woodrow Wilson. Vittorio Orlando was the Prime Minister of France and had some
say in the treaty because he was one of the victor. He eventually walked out of the meeting because he
wasn t getting his way and gave up his position. Each had a different approach to the treaty and had
their own ideas about the consequences of Germany. Lloyd George was the Prime Minister of Britain
and more of a subtle approach to the treaty, but still believed Germany should pay for what they did.
He knew the treaty couldn t be too harsh; otherwise, Germany would try to get there revenge, and he
also water to keep Germany as a trading partner, so he didn t want Germany s economy too weak to
trade and was afraid that communism to spread to Germany. Georges Clemenceau was the Prime
Minister of France and was the harshest of the Big Three and wanted Germany to suffer. Germany
destroyed France killed hundreds of thousands. He believed Germany should brought to its knees and
never be strong enough to start war again. He wanted Germany to pay to rebuild France and all of the
damage they caused during the war. Woodrow Wilson was the President of USA and was the least
harsh. He wanted total world peace and didn t understand the hatred France and Britain had towards
Germany. He had

Conflict in Employment Relationship with Reference to the...
The aim of this assay is to discuss the statement Conflict is inherent within the employment
relationship with reference to the Unitarist, Pluralist and Marxist perspective. Firstly, I will give the
definitions of employment relations, industrial conflict the three main conflict frames of reference in
employment relations. Then I will explain the conflict in the three perspectives individually. Lastly, I
will make a simple comparison about the three perspectives.
Dunlop states that the industrial relations system is seen to be comprised of certain actors, certain
contexts and ideology which bind the industrial relations system together and a body of rules created
to govern the actors at the workplace (Blyton Turnbull, 2004, P27). And ... Show more content on

As the expression of employees dissatisfaction and differences with employers, conflict is regarded as
bad and irrational for the organization and should be kept down through some forcible ways. Conflict
can arise from employees misunderstanding of the direction of the organisation or the poor
communication between the staff and the management, enabling employees to substitute alternative
agendas instead of the organisation s agenda (Bray, Deery, Walsh and Waring, 2005). Moreover,
conflicts can arise from the poor management that caused by the management s failure to identify and
meet employees basic needs.
From this perspective, trade union is perceived not necessary and the role of it is creating conflict, and
it is seen an unwelcome intrusion into the organization from outside competing with management for
the loyalty of employees (Rose, 2004). Trade unions exist either as the result of wickedness or
perverseness of individual employees, or because of a failure of management to anticipate and
incorporate worker needs and concerns (Bray, Deery, Walsh and Waring, 2005).
Fox argues that the importance of the unitary perspective is declining and has been superseded by the
pluralist superseded by the pluralist perspective (Rose, 2004).
The pluralist approach recognizes that different groups exist within an organization and that conflict
can, and does, exist between employer and employees. (Gennard and Judge, 2002, P208)The pluralist
perspective is

A Study At The Library Alone Essay
The main argument of this paper is that most people are socialized to study at a specific spot. We will
be focusing on people who come to study at the library alone. Most people become comfortable at a
specific space in the library because of a general habitus of finding a space that is considered their
own place to study at. In Becoming a firefighter, Matthew Desmond describes a general habitus as a
system of dispositions and ways about and acting in the world that is constituted early on in life
(Desmond, Ethnograhy, 391). Humans are disposed to studying in the same secluded spot because we
take ownership of the space. Charles Horton Cooley writes in The looking glass self that if we think of
a secluded part of the woods as ours , it is because we think, also that others do not go there (Cooley,
The Presentation of Self in Everday Life ,32). People often think of their usual study space as theirs.
Therefore, when entering the library, they often head straight for their space. When I was writing this
paper, it was harder for me to separate my habits from other people`s and just sticking to my
observations. I also struggled with identifying a phenomenon because many of the behaviors
displayed would be considered normal behaviors. After reading Desmond`s theory on habitism in
Becoming a firefighter, I came to the conclusion that they were normal because at Bard we are
socialized to act a certain way. I believe that the strongest aspect of my paper is how I analyze the

I Watched A Fair Amount Of Television
Growing up, I watched a fair amount of television. Being the late 1990s and early 2000s, some of my
favorites included Sesame Street, The Rugrats, Veggie Tales, and Little Bill. All of which, starred
mostly male characters. At the time, I didn t think much of it; it made sense for boys to be the stars.
All of my teddy bears had boy names, the gender neutral characters in my books were boys, and I
even called my female cat a boy. It wasn t until later when I became more educated on gender
inequality and stereotypes that I noticed the problem on television and in other aspects of my
childhood that affected the way that I thought.
In 1991, Katha Pollitt, a poet and essayist, published Hers; The Smurfette Principle. She starts her
essay off by telling the readers about her personal experience raising a daughter in a male dominated
world. Pollitt mentions how she struggled with finding a children s movie starring a female with more
than just a nice figure, a pretty face, and a damsel in distress personality to give to her daughter for
Christmas. She finally chose Disney s The Little Mermaid . Ariel, despite looking like the
stereotypical princess, is brave, determined, and the hero of her own story unlike most Disney
princesses. Pollitt considered Ariel role model material for her preschool age daughter and other
young girls alike. Pollitt claims that television networks, movies, and books that are mostly male
dominant send negative messages to the developing mind of

Economic Inequality In The United States
The subject of equity has ascertained that the economic prowess of a nation is insufficient as a
measure of progress. The United States is among the worst in the matter of wealth distribution, and yet
it is one of the world s leading economies. The inequality situation has been worsening over the years
and has been a keen campaign theme for the liberals in the American politics. The nation has thrived
economically since the 1980s, and the levels of inequality have grown over the same period. The
government through its public policies is a key factor in the growth of the economy as well as the
level of inequality. The capitalistic market in the US is vital in the economic prowess of the economy.
The key failure of the capitalistic market lies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The law of demand and supply is a key basis for the wage determination in the capitalistic economy.
The more the demand for employment is present, the lesser the employers, in this case, the rich, are
willing to pay. This point of view suggests that the employer seems to have leverage in setting the
wages, especially where the economy has no full employment. In the US, there is always need for
employment and that gives the employers a reason to lower wages since people are desperate for jobs.
Karl Marx suggested that the employer will only give the employees just enough so that they might
get back to work the next day. There is also the aspect of the rich having the monopoly of employment
in the economy. Rich industrialist essentially has an influence on the employment rate of the economy.
Given the recent decade, the labor rate in the country has been on the rise prompting businesses to
take their work to countries with cheaper labor like India. Since the US government pushed for more
wages, the labor market which seems to be monopolistic took the employment overseas leaving most

Abstract
A new methodology for customer knowledge management in the female central library in the
University of Dammam is needed because of the big amount of customers information that exist there.
Customers include employees, students, faculty members and researchers in the university. so, the
purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for organizing customer knowledge in this library.
In general, the proposed methodology is for developing a customer knowledge taxonomy model
(CKT). By using and applying this model the customer knowledge can be classified into three
categories: knowledge about customers, knowledge from customers and knowledge for customers. in
addition, this paper proposes a strategy of merging the first and second categories of customer
knowledge to form the third category. As a result of this case study, the librarians are expected to use
the CKT model to organize customer knowledge which will help in facilitating the knowledge
management activities including storing and sharing the knowledge. That will help them also to
understand the preferences and the requirements of their customers so they can provide better services
for them. Finally, it s expected that the proposed methodology can be used by

Lamar Jackson s Brutality
Louisville Cardinals sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson had a spectacular freshman campaign in
2015. The dual threat quarterback from Boynton Beach, Florida, passed for 1,840 yards and 12
touchdowns and rushed for 960 yards and 11 touchdowns in Bobby Petrino s spread offense. Simply
put, he was unstoppable. On Thursday night, Jackson and the No. 19 ranked Cardinals opened up the
2016 regular season against the Charlotte 49ers. The last time we saw Jackson on the field was against
Texas A M in the Music City Bowl. In that game, Jackson had 453 yards of total offense and four total
touchdowns. With that performance still fresh in the minds of many college football fans, Jackson
reinforced those thoughts on Thursday night with record breaking

How Did King Phillip War Change Over Time
King Phillip s War was a conflict that arose in Massachusetts in 1675 and lasted until 1676. It was a
war that was fought between the Wampanoag and the English, and the specific reasons for it are
always contested. Perceptions of this historical event have been challenged over time. The
historiography of King Phillip s war not only shows us how the events changed over time. The events
changed over time from being a struggle over land for expansion for the Puritains, as well as power.
That, over time evolved to a power struggle and then progressed to the idea that the Native Americans
were an barrier in the way of the Puritains land access, wanting to be able to gain more access to land
for their growing population size . Religion was also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The English were arriving in large numbers, and as more and more of them came, there was more
need for land for them to settle. Another belief that scholars had was that the war was fought over
religion and that it was a holy war to gain more followers in the Christian faith, and bring the Native
Americans to praying towns. Earlier accounts of the war focus on the first interpretations of the event,
which were more ethnocentric based, and these perceptions of the war are put into a box, and are what
historians base their research of. Later interpretation from the 1850 s onward until up until the 1960 s
led to different interpretations, shaped by society and culture of the 19th century. Now the war was
being viewed as a conquest of a civilization, instead of it being fought as a war. This difference in
interpretation is due to The English were afraid that the native Americans were a threat to them,
because of their ethnocentric views, and the Natives felt that they were being threatened as well,
because By the nineteenth century, King Phillip and his war had become romanticized, due to the
World War s romanticism. From the 1960 s on, Native Americans were now starting to have a voice in
American History, and becoming a part of the historical narrative, which was due to the American

Club Drugs Essay
It s 6 o clock on a Saturday morning and while some teenagers are enjoying the extra hours of sleep,
many are still bouncing around to the sounds of techno music. Thousands of teenagers and even some
adults gather into clubs decorated with black lights, disco balls, and tons of smoke machines. Their
hearts are pounding and their pulse is racing at the speed of light, all compliments of designer drugs
known as club drugs (National Institute on Drug Abuse). Changing the molecular structure of an
existing drug or drugs to create a new substance creates designer drugs (Kusinitz 151). The all night

Ecstasy, the risk of death and permanent brain damage are heightened when some substances are
combined (NIDA). The bottom line with this drug is you never know what is in the $5 $20 pill you
just bought, so the safest bet would be to do without it. The use of Ecstasy has led to more powerful
drugs such as Ketamine, known on the streets as Special K, or K. Special K emerged as a recreational
drug in the 1970 s and was known as Vitamin K in the underground club scene in the 1980 s (Kusinitz

form, it is converted to powder and re packaged into small ziplock bags or capsules (46). This
powerful hallucinogen is generally snorted, and is occasionally sprinkled on tobacco or marijuana and
smoked (NIDA). Special K is usually combined with other drugs, such as Ecstasy or cocaine, to
enhance the high. The high, called the K Hole , can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and can
produce hallucinations that include visual distortions and a lost sense of time and identity (NIDA).
Sold by the vials, K runs around $10 $30 and is available widely throughout raves (Mass 16). The
most common form of hallucinogen and the easiest to get at raves, is LSD. Commonly known as acid ,
it is sold for $3 $5 a hit and can last up to 12

Essay on History and Philosophy of Science
History and Philosophy of Science
The world of science, as we know it today, is a difficult subject to grasp. So many new ideas are
present and these new ideas are not interchangeable. Some parts do work together although as a whole
they don t fully coincide with each other. The three basic ideas that science is now based upon come
from Newton, Einstein, and Hawking. I call these ideas/theories new based on what I classify the state
of the scientific community of today. After looking at what is going on in science, it is clear to me that
the scientific world is in a crisis state. According to Kuhn, a crisis state is when science is in the
middle of choosing a particular paradigm to work under. For scientists, there is a general theme ...

Newton had given the world what we now know as physics. For the past three hundred years
Newtonian Mechanics have been taught to every student aspiring to elevate their minds. Newtonian
Mechanics were the end all to the questions that had plagued thinkers since the beginning of time. The
key difference is that Newton was never exposed to the world of science that technology had made
prevalent to the likes of an Einstein or Hawking, or even my colleague studying neuro surgery at John
s Hopkins University. When Newton was sitting under his apple tree conjuring up ideas for how and
why he did not fly off into space or why the harder you hit something the farther it goes, technology
was moving along at the rate of most people s grandmothers in their walkers. The scientists that had
surrounded Newton knew only of what they could see. Their were no people looking to the far ends of
the galaxies and their were no people looking in to the unseen cells that make up everything that we
can see. Basically, Newton did not have a reason to explain what he was not aware of. He did have
quite good reason, however, to explain why he got a bump on his head from that ripe apple that no
longer needed the shelter of the tree. According to Shlain, Newton set the world he knew to mechanics
and set the parameters for the new and final, well what was thought to be the final paradigm of the
world. Then in 1905,

Cultural Hegemony In The American Dream
Peter Carey has applied the motif of the American Dream to illustrate the issue of cultural hegemony,
and the potential consequences of it in terms of a specific nation s cultural identity. The outcomes of
cultural hegemony may appear if a society is heavily affected by another one and endeavours to adopt
its culture in the pursuit of a better life. In American dreams, Carey depicts idealized utopian scenario
and corresponding loss of townspeople s cultural identity this fantasy of the American dream emerges
like one of the story s main motifs. Parallel to their mystification of the American way of life, the
people of a place called Bacchus Marsh develop a negative attitude towards their own town, being dull
and insignificant, as depicted in the words of the narrator s father: nothing more than a stopping place.
Somewhere on the way to somewhere else (Edelson).
The exact location of the Carey s remote, no one wants to live in town is unknown, even though there
are some indications that it is in rural Australia. Carey uses figurative language and magic realism to
achieve a sense of hidden meaning. Some toponyms really exist, like the fictional Bald Hill and actual
ones with the same purpose of serving as lookouts On Bald Hill are half a dozen telescopes through
which the Americans can spy on the town... (Edelson). The situational irony takes the reader to the
opening of the story and the narrator s depiction of the locals at the Roxy for years we have watched

The Maltese Falcon is a classic mystery film that came out in 1941 starring Humphrey Bogart and
Mary Astor directed by John Huston. The movie is based on the novel which came out in 1929. This
film is a classic because of its excellent writing and videography for its time. The movie begins with a
pan across San Francisco s City skyline getting shots of iconic buildings and structures. Then the
camera fades to Spade and Archer s office. This is when we are introduced to the main character, Sam
Spade and the posthumous character Miles Archer. Instantly you know they are serious, unbothered
detectives. Sam has a deep voice and speaks with authority to everyone and Miles has confidence.
Next, a woman by the name of Ruth Wonderly enters the room.

The Philadelphia Museum Of Art Museum
The Philadelphia Museum of Art was my first time to an art museum, and overall I think it was a good
experience. When I thought of an art museum, I thought it was going to be all paintings. But as it turns
out, that idea was wrong. There were lots of other forms of art there as well. The exhibit that I enjoyed
the most was the International Pop exhibit. But there were also many other exhibits that I enjoyed as
well. Some of those include; European, American, Arms and Armor. All every interesting exhibits that
everyone should see. But those are not all, when going to this museum, every exhibit should be looked
at, all have very interesting things in them. The International pop exhibit was one of my favorite out of
all the exhibits. The International Pop navigates a fast paced world packed with bold and thought
provoking imagery, revealing a vibrant period shaped by social, political, and cultural changes . One
piece of art that I found interesting was Still Life by Tom Wesselmann, American, 1931 2004 . When
looking at this piece if reminds me of different time. This piece reminds me of other art works that I
have seen with the same kinds of things on it as well. Another work of art that I enjoyed was the
20th/21st Century Tribute by Antônio Henrique Amaral , this painting makes the viewer actually stop
and look at it. There are many different parts to this painting too look at. When walking through the
museum, this was definitely something that catches ones eye.

The Poor Laws And The Problems Of The Old Poor Law
According to the University of York Social Policy is the Study of the causes of social problems and
what Governments attempt to do about them. The Poor Law that was introduced in 1834 was a Law
that was put in place to support the poor. The law was introduced because it was getting increasingly
expensive to look after the poor so parliament introduced it in hopes it would diminish the cost of
looking after the poor and to get the poor out of the streets and into workhouses. Parliament promised
that this new law was to give the poor Clothes, free education, food and a place to stay.
The Poor Law was introduced because it was too much money to pay to look after the poor, so in
hopes to take the poor off the streets and to stop money going to the poor the government introduced
the law in 1834. The law was also put in place to embolden the poor to get back into work and support
themselves, There was a law before 1834 called the Old Poor Law this was found to be insufficient
because there was nothing in place to help the poor because even though they set up workhouses for
the poor they didn t offer accommodation for the poor. There was an act passed in 1795 called The
Speenhamland System which allowed employers to pay their workers exceptionally low wages during
these years the middle and the upper classes were getting more angry because they were the ones
paying for the poor who would avoid not going to or do any work.

Holden Caulfield Character Analysis
Many authors express themselves through their characters within their books. They create a writing
piece through their eyes of the world. They often reflect their own personal experiences through a
character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand. A reader can make
connections to the story, if there are real world experiences within a character. J.D Salinger s The
Catcher in the Rye, serves as an example for this. Holden Caulfield, the main character, is very
opinionated and rebellious. Holden has a rough childhood, and experiences many ups and downs. He
has a hard time staying at one school, and staying out of trouble. J.D. Salinger has many similarities in
his life to Holden. Salinger uses many of his personal life experiences to form Holden s character and
personality. To begin with, The Catcher in the Rye begins with Holden at a football game against
Saxon Hall. Holden is getting kicked out of Pency Prep, and leaving fencing equipment on the subway
did not help. The dean had warned him once before, but Holden did not care. He was flunking all of
his classes except one, and failed to bring them up. Holden does not like his roommate, Stradlater.
Stradlater is a tall, handsome, fit, and perfect on the outside guy but not so perfect in secret. Holden
thinks Stradlater is a secret slob, and a phony. Stradlater shaves his face with dirty razors and passes
gas. This is why Holden calls him a secret slob. Next, Stradlater takes out

Mountains stand tall in the background as waterfront views of Mead paint an unforgettable scene. This
desert abode served as host for early prehistoric inhabitants, Native Americans, early pioneers,
Spanish miners, and presently outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurists have the opportunity to explore over

most precious secrets for decades. This elegant desert hides only an hour and a half drive east of Las
Vegas and just south of Mesquite, Nevada. Gold Butte s ecosystem is comprised of diverse organisms,
many of which are sacred and protected plants and animals. Joshua trees sit nestled deep in the
mineral enriched sand, while the bighorn sheep and tortoise roam the vast desert terrain. The almost
350,000 acres of public land is sculpted with rugged mountains, sandstone outcroppings, yucca
forests, slot canyons, and flat top mesas. Is it possible that a place with such a unique array of wildlife
and history can exist and remain a secret? Unfortunately, due to many factors over the past 20 years,
Gold Butte has been on center stage, but not just for tourism.

Values And Beliefs Of Professional Nurses
Nursing philosophy is a set of values and beliefs that guides the actions of the organization and thus
serves as the basis of all planning (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 294). As professional nurses, it is up to each
individual to determine their own values and beliefs of how they would like to or do provide care and
compare this against the organization of which one chooses to work (Cherry Jacob, 2014). Once an
organization is found that coincides with a nurse s own values, it makes it easier to work within the
organization as a team. The nurse knows what is expected of them and the type of care that should be
provided to the patient. This is why it is asked of Magnet hospitals to make their philosophy known to
the employees. Not only does

soul from damnation to salvation and saw Christ s purpose in the events of their daily lives. Their
purpose of preaching was to enlighten others and arousing in their audience the desire for
``sanctification. Sanctification means to be set apart for God and to the work of his service in the
Truth. Their religious commitment was severe and fundamentalist: they express a horror for dancing,
the theater, and other worldly pleasures. As freeborn women who lived in the North, all three had
mystical visions and preached to large congregations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are very real lives of women that we can relate to in the 21st century as we stay focus on our
call to preach and never give up. The other book that I selected to read was the memoir of Dorothy
Height, Open Wide the Freedom Gates, which details her lifelong struggle for equality. Dignity,
discretion and delicacy where the elements that made her such an effective agent for social
change.Height explains that the book s title came from fellow crusader Mary McLeod Bethune, who
once told Height, The freedom gates are half ajar. We must pry them open. Height was born on March
24, 1912, in Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of a building contractor and a nurse who later
moved to Rankin, Pennsylvania, in her youth. There, she attended racially integrated schools. Dorothy
Height, who died at the age of 98, spent more than 80 years battling for equal rights for African
Americans and for women. Height served as president of the National Council of Negro Women from
1957 to 1997. She was also an executive of the Y.W.C.A. and one of the founders of the National
Women s Political Caucus. Height was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in

Nowadays, plenty of women are investing in fake eyelashes or buy different types of mascaras, just to
make their lashes look longer and thicker. Whether you think or not, all these products will tend to do
more harm than good in the long run. However, there are a few solutions for rich and long lashes. Opt
for a professional lash growth serum We all know that lack of enough vitamins is the most common
causes of eyelash thinning and loss. As such, one of the best ways to regain your eyelashes and make

Argumentative Essay On Meat
Meat is under attack in our society today. The media is full of articles highlighting the negative effects
of meat, an army of people are trying to tarnish the reputation of meat in any way possible. More
people are cutting meat from their diet now then ever before. I guess you could say then that meat is
not in a good place. I recently read an article on the negative effects of meat on the human body and
on the environment. The essay was good and the argument compelling by the time I finished reading I
was almost persuaded to give up eating meat and live the vegetarian life style. I spent sometime
mulling over the idea of giving up my some of my favorite foods, what it would be like to never again
taste a warm, tender juicy steak, or bite down it to a succulent buffalo burger. I decided that if I was
going to change my life in such a drastic way I had to be sure that the benefits were all that people
worked them up to be. Did I give up meat then and join the ranks of the vegetarian? While researching
the topic I found that although meat does have many negative effects these effects come from over
eating and gorging ourselves on meat. If meat is eaten in moderation it actually has positive effects on
the body. The nutriance found in meat is vital to help the body function properly, maintain brain tissue
and make our minds sharper and more alert. Meat is an essential part of our diets and should be eaten
(in moderation) by every one who wants to live the healthiest life

The Debate Over the Morality of the Death Penalty Essay
Senator for Utah Orrin Hatch once said, Capital punishment is our society s recognition of the sanctity
of human life, (Brainy Quote). While the arguments for both sides of the debate over the morality of
the death penalty are vast, the bottom line is that the death penalty does not disregard human life, but
rather it reveres it, as Hatch said. Morality is defined as, The quality of being in accord with standards
of right or good conduct, (The Free Dictionary). One who seeks to protect a person who has
committed a heinous crime such as murder is arguably not in accords with what is right and wrong.
Therefore, although killing is generally accepted as being wrong, the death penalty is sometimes the
only solution to bring justice to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though electrocution, hanging, and being shot at by a firing squad would seem to have instant results,
it is possible for the person to suffer immensely if they are initially done wrong, for example, if the
shocks are not strong enough the first time, if the noose is not placed correctly, or if the heart is not
struck in the first round of shooting. As a result, the person may have to endure multiple jolts of shock,
suffocate gradually, or slowly bleed to death (DPIC). As for the gas chamber, unconsciousness does
not occur immediately and, According to former San Quentin, California, Penitentiary warden, Clifton
Duffy, At first there is evidence of extreme horror, pain, and strangling, (DPIC). Another argument is
that taking another life will not avenge the victim s family, as it will not bring their loved one back,
and Gandhi s famous saying, An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, applies as well. Finally,
anti death penalty advocates may say that it is wrong to kill a mentally ill person, as it is widely
believed that anyone who would commit a crime worthy of the death penalty must have some kind of
disorder, because they are not fully in control of what they are doing and they are suffering too. At the
end of the day, adversaries of capital punishment believe that all life is sacred, including that of severe
criminals, and it should be preserved regardless of the circumstance.

Understanding The World Through The Study Of Knowledge
ABSTRACT: Understanding the world through the study of knowledge, the investigation of
knowledge, more thoroughly known as Epistemology, is the realm of philosophy that studies the
sources, nature, limitations, and rationality of knowledge. The most incisive expression of disapproval
of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with
standards and inquiries of justification. Epistemology without such norms, is supposed to be an
endeavor not worth achieving. (Stroud,Alemder). What one induces of this is depends on whether
epistemology is worth doing at all. Nevertheless, I shall verbally dispute, it is possible to reckon for
justification within a naturalistic structure widely interpreted alongside with Quinean lines. In addition
to, I shall propose a corrective to Quine s acclaimed pronouncement that the Humean condition is the
human condition.
1. Descriptive versus Traditional Epistemologies Three perspectives The most incisive expression of
disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing
with standards and inquiries of justification. Naturalized epistemologies questions the tradition in
arguing that the sort of cognitive processes is more of a central epistemological interest than the search
for elements and justification. However, Traditionalists have replied by challenging the logic of the
descriptivist s assertion to be epistemologists to some extent (i.e

Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Summary
This article describes the black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys Ludovocianus) and their coteries.
Coteries are polygynous social groups that black tailed prairie dogs live in (Hoogland 1983). In these
groups, the one adult male reproduces with genetically similar females. The main purpose of this
article is for the author (John L. Hoogland) to communicate and defend his earlier work on prairie
dogs. These prairie dogs exist where some females and pups, within the coteries, do not breed
(Hoogland 1983). Moreover, black tailed prairie dogs behave parentally towards non offspring
(Hoogland 1983). In addition, Hoogland classifies black tailed prairie dogs as cooperative breeders;
however, they do not help breeders to the same degree as cooperative breeding birds (Hoogland 1983).

Thus, there is no evidence shown that support Hoogland original prediction (stated in the former
paragraph). Michener and Murie (1983) also argue that Hoogland s grounded assumption is on
outdated information. Hoogland refutes Michener and Murie (1983) argument by stating that the
direct relationship between helper size and long term reproductive success of females is an
assumption; thus, it should not solely decide if black tailed prairie dogs are cooperative breeders
(Hoogland 1983). I find Hoogland s last argument inadequate because he creates a prediction based
off statistics that do not support black tailed prairie dogs having an increased success from having
more helpers. Although it is acceptable, it does not support his argument; and, consequently, taken
advantage of by fellow researchers. The determination if black tailed prairie dogs are cooperative
breeders needs further research on the females long term reproductive success. These are only a few of
the examples that occur in this

Self-Harm, Self Injury, And Nonsuicidal Self Suicide
Self harm, self injury, and nonsuicidal self injury (NSSI) are all terms that describe the act of
intentional infliction of tissue damage or pain to oneself without the intent of dying by suicide (Briere
Gill, 1998; Andover et al., 2005; Nock Favazza, 2009; Klonsky, 2011; Young Stark, 2011; Makowska
et al., 2016). The cases of self injury has doubled over the past ten years in adolescents (Makowska et
al., 2016). Self injury is experienced by 4% of the general population, however, self harm was
reported by 21% of individuals in clinical settings, and those individuals reported the behavior is often
done compulsively or repetitively (Briere Gill, 1998).
Studies have found that individuals with severe mental illnesses are more likely to engage in
dangerous behavior including self injury and suicide attempts;, and people diagnosed with
schizophrenia and mood disorders have the highest rates of suicide among all mental illnesses
(Klonsky, 2011; Victor Klonsky, 2014; O Hare et al., 2015). The DSM 5 classifies Nonsuicidal Self
Injury as a separate diagnostic criteria (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Klonsky, 2011),
suggesting that self injury itself is considered a mental illness.
Although most individuals who self injure do not have the intent to die by suicide, some experience
suicide ideation; and instances of self harm in individuals contemplating suicide could be a trial of self
destructive behavior, which could lead to attempting suicide (Briere Gill,

Traditional Schools Vs. Year-Round Schools
Would you rather be home playing video games or going on vacations during the summer or in
school? Year round schools are TERRIBLE. They spend way too much money, and they have to run
their AC all summer long. They have to pay a lot of money to keep bus drivers and other staff
members.
Year round schools are 230 days and traditional schools are 180 days. Year round schools have 9
weeks of school and then a 2 3 week break. Traditional schools have breaks near the holidays and a 2
3 month break in the summer. Traditional schools don t have to run there A/C all summer long. Year
round schools do because they have to go through the summer.
My first reason that I am against year round schools is that they spend way too much money. They

Holy Grail
The Holy Theatre versus the Holy Grail
Within these ramblings I will put forward, with pond skater like depth, my musings and personal
reflections on the reluctant guru, rebel and acknowledged genius of modern theatre Peter Brook and
his fabled hand grenade of a 60 s essay The Holy Theatre .
The concept of the Holy Theatre comes from Peter Brook s the Empty Space, in which he separates
theatre into four testaments: Deadly, Holy, Rough, and immediate though the lines between said
factions blur, overlap and interplay throughout.
Held by many to be the holy grail of modern theatre texts, almost sacred in many quarters. The Holy
Theatre essay is a way of seeing theatre: creating and attending theatre as if it were a holy rite, a myth
based ritual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

That alchemy has proved transcendently effective over the centuries since the plays were first written.
The bard has a way of saying simple things and for others a simple way of saying complex things. For
Brook, theatre is very much the latter; and, in a late work like Tierno Bokar, he is seeking, in his own
phrase, to go beyond the immediate present. This likewise philosophy treats theatre less as a product
than as a process: a collaborative means of exploring life s mystery. I can though picture Brook
throwing down his manuscript upon its completion, screaming at his beloved Shakespeare for
covering it all within his works, where genius glints from every page and line with a nonchalant ease.
In Brook s concept of theatre, the audience is essential; without it, nothing happens. The relationship
between the actor and the audience is the only theatre reality, he once told an interviewer
Brook s concepts of the deadly, the holy, the rough, the immediate, the dirty, are amazingly relevant to
more areas of art and thought than just solely theatre. Maybe applicable to life itself when the layers
are peeled

Plessy V. Ferguson Case Study
In 1892, the Plessy v. Ferguson case had emerged from a conflict from Louisiana s Separate Car Act.
The law required that railroads have separate but equal accommodations, prohibiting African
American and White passengers from entering besides the one they were assigned to based on race.
Homer Plessy, a seven eighths White and one eighth African American bought a rail travel ticket in
Louisiana for the White car and took a seat. He was later told to move to the African American car,
after refusing to move he was arrested and charged for not complying with the Separate Car Act. In
the U.S. District Court, Judge John H. Ferguson dismissed Plessy s argument that the act was
unconstitutional. The majority who went with Associate Justice Henry Billings Brown jilted Plessy s
arguments that it opposed the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendment. The dissenting opinion was with
Associate Judge John Marshall Harlan who said that the court was neglecting the purpose of the
Separate Car Act, which said under the guise of giving equal accommodation for whites and blacks, to
compel the latter to keep to themselves while traveling in railroad passenger coaches. Plessy was
brought before the recorder of the city for preliminary examination and committed for trial to the ...

His arguments were that it violated the Thirteenth amendment, which prohibited slavery, and the
Fourteenth amendment, which granted equal rights. According to Associate Justice Henry Billing
Brown the Thirteenth amendment did not clash with the Act because it did not in any way restore
slavery. And for the Fourteenth amendment, he argued that the amendment only protected legal
equality, but not social equality. It was said that it was legally equal because accommodations were
provided for both races and it was the racial discrimination by the people it did not simply imply the

  • 2. How Is Hope Shown In The Hollow Men As the world was trying to find hope during a time of adversity, T.S. Eliot s poem, The Hollow Men, presents the World War I soldiers as having an unprecedented loss of faith as well as emotional human value. Primarily, Eliot illustrates the soldiers initial emotions after returning from war and creates an environment that still sees hope in such negative circumstances. Most notably, the soldiers still seem to have the strength to find signs of wishful thinking that still portrays the hope in their lives. The soldiers are still leaning together and their dried voices are still able to whisper together (5 8). Here, Eliot proves that the actions that the soldiers are still able to do, demonstrate the hope that is still present. Had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most importantly, the soldiers start to imagine what life may be like if they were dead, as their life as living humans must feel similar. The soldiers ask if it is like this in death s other kingdom, walking alone all while they are trembling with tenderness, (47 50). Here, Eliot considers the soldiers as steadily losing hope in ever finding their faith that they so desperately need. The allusion of what hell must be like also crosses the soldiers minds, a sure sign that their thoughts are not where they should be. Just as important, are the soldiers continued thoughts of losing hope and faith, in the midst of such critical times for them. The soldiers feel sightless and unless the eyes reaper they will only have the hope only of empty men, (66 69). At this moment, Eliot reiterates the soldiers feelings, and how they are content with despair. The soldiers are unwilling to open their eyes and search for their own faith, and are set on the fact that someone else has to return their faith to them. The soldiers even consider themselves as empty men instead of hollow which can allude to the fact that they believe they will never be able to fill their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. An Argument Against Atheism Based On The Existence Of Evil William Rowe tries to provide answers for three interrelated questions. 1) Are there arguments for atheism based on the existence of evil that may rationally justify someone in being an atheist? 2) How can a theist defend this position against the argument for atheism based on the existence of evil? 3) What position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of their belief? Rowe makes sure the reader known what kind of evil is being dealt with or is being used in the argument which is the central concept of the whole argument. He asserts that in order to develop the argument for atheism based on the existence of evil; it is necessary to look at some sort of evil that out world contains in great quantity. He states that this abundance of evil is the suffering humans and animals. Rowe sets out the problem by provide an argument that he believes can be used to rationally justify someone being an atheist, William Rowe states the argument goes as follow: 1. There exist instances of intense suffering which an omnipotent, omniscient being could have prevented without thereby losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse 2. An omniscient, wholly good being would prevent the occurrence of any intense suffering it could, unless it could not do so without there by losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse Therefore 3. • 5. The Treaty Of Versailles Was A Prime Minister Of France The Treaty of Versailles was signed June 28th, 1919 after the Big Three had argued for months about the consequences and negotiations of the treaty. The Big Three were David Lloyd George, Georges Clemenceau, and Woodrow Wilson. Vittorio Orlando was the Prime Minister of France and had some say in the treaty because he was one of the victor. He eventually walked out of the meeting because he wasn t getting his way and gave up his position. Each had a different approach to the treaty and had their own ideas about the consequences of Germany. Lloyd George was the Prime Minister of Britain and more of a subtle approach to the treaty, but still believed Germany should pay for what they did. He knew the treaty couldn t be too harsh; otherwise, Germany would try to get there revenge, and he also water to keep Germany as a trading partner, so he didn t want Germany s economy too weak to trade and was afraid that communism to spread to Germany. Georges Clemenceau was the Prime Minister of France and was the harshest of the Big Three and wanted Germany to suffer. Germany destroyed France killed hundreds of thousands. He believed Germany should brought to its knees and never be strong enough to start war again. He wanted Germany to pay to rebuild France and all of the damage they caused during the war. Woodrow Wilson was the President of USA and was the least harsh. He wanted total world peace and didn t understand the hatred France and Britain had towards Germany. He had ... The aim of this assay is to discuss the statement Conflict is inherent within the employment relationship with reference to the Unitarist, Pluralist and Marxist perspective. Firstly, I will give the definitions of employment relations, industrial conflict the three main conflict frames of reference in employment relations. Then I will explain the conflict in the three perspectives individually. Lastly, I will make a simple comparison about the three perspectives. Dunlop states that the industrial relations system is seen to be comprised of certain actors, certain contexts and ideology which bind the industrial relations system together and a body of rules created to govern the actors at the workplace (Blyton Turnbull, 2004, P27). And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the expression of employees dissatisfaction and differences with employers, conflict is regarded as bad and irrational for the organization and should be kept down through some forcible ways. Conflict can arise from employees misunderstanding of the direction of the organisation or the poor communication between the staff and the management, enabling employees to substitute alternative agendas instead of the organisation s agenda (Bray, Deery, Walsh and Waring, 2005). Moreover, conflicts can arise from the poor management that caused by the management s failure to identify and meet employees basic needs. From this perspective, trade union is perceived not necessary and the role of it is creating conflict, and it is seen an unwelcome intrusion into the organization from outside competing with management for the loyalty of employees (Rose, 2004). Trade unions exist either as the result of wickedness or perverseness of individual employees, or because of a failure of management to anticipate and incorporate worker needs and concerns (Bray, Deery, Walsh and Waring, 2005). Fox argues that the importance of the unitary perspective is declining and has been superseded by the pluralist superseded by the pluralist perspective (Rose, 2004). The pluralist approach recognizes that different groups exist within an organization and that conflict can, and does, exist between employer and employees. • 7. A Study At The Library Alone Essay The main argument of this paper is that most people are socialized to study at a specific spot. We will be focusing on people who come to study at the library alone. Most people become comfortable at a specific space in the library because of a general habitus of finding a space that is considered their own place to study at. In Becoming a firefighter, Matthew Desmond describes a general habitus as a system of dispositions and ways about and acting in the world that is constituted early on in life (Desmond, Ethnograhy, 391). Humans are disposed to studying in the same secluded spot because we take ownership of the space. Charles Horton Cooley writes in The looking glass self that if we think of a secluded part of the woods as ours , it is because we think, also that others do not go there (Cooley, The Presentation of Self in Everday Life ,32). People often think of their usual study space as theirs. Therefore, when entering the library, they often head straight for their space. When I was writing this paper, it was harder for me to separate my habits from other people`s and just sticking to my observations. I also struggled with identifying a phenomenon because many of the behaviors displayed would be considered normal behaviors. After reading Desmond`s theory on habitism in Becoming a firefighter, I came to the conclusion that they were normal because at Bard we are socialized to act a certain way. I believe that the strongest aspect of my paper is how I analyze the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. I Watched A Fair Amount Of Television Growing up, I watched a fair amount of television. Being the late 1990s and early 2000s, some of my favorites included Sesame Street, The Rugrats, Veggie Tales, and Little Bill. All of which, starred mostly male characters. At the time, I didn t think much of it; it made sense for boys to be the stars. All of my teddy bears had boy names, the gender neutral characters in my books were boys, and I even called my female cat a boy. It wasn t until later when I became more educated on gender inequality and stereotypes that I noticed the problem on television and in other aspects of my childhood that affected the way that I thought. In 1991, Katha Pollitt, a poet and essayist, published Hers; The Smurfette Principle. She starts her essay off by telling the readers about her personal experience raising a daughter in a male dominated world. Pollitt mentions how she struggled with finding a children s movie starring a female with more than just a nice figure, a pretty face, and a damsel in distress personality to give to her daughter for Christmas. She finally chose Disney s The Little Mermaid . Ariel, despite looking like the stereotypical princess, is brave, determined, and the hero of her own story unlike most Disney princesses. Pollitt considered Ariel role model material for her preschool age daughter and other young girls alike. The United States is among the worst in the matter of wealth distribution, and yet it is one of the world s leading economies. The inequality situation has been worsening over the years and has been a keen campaign theme for the liberals in the American politics. The nation has thrived economically since the 1980s, and the levels of inequality have grown over the same period. The law of demand and supply is a key basis for the wage determination in the capitalistic economy. The more the demand for employment is present, the lesser the employers, in this case, the rich, are willing to pay. This point of view suggests that the employer seems to have leverage in setting the wages, especially where the economy has no full employment. In the US, there is always need for employment and that gives the employers a reason to lower wages since people are desperate for jobs. Karl Marx suggested that the employer will only give the employees just enough so that they might get back to work the next day. There is also the aspect of the rich having the monopoly of employment in the economy. Rich industrialist essentially has an influence on the employment rate of the economy. Given the recent decade, the labor rate in the country has been on the rise prompting businesses to take their work to countries with cheaper labor like India. Customers include employees, students, faculty members and researchers in the university. so, the purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for organizing customer knowledge in this library. In general, the proposed methodology is for developing a customer knowledge taxonomy model (CKT). By using and applying this model the customer knowledge can be classified into three categories: knowledge about customers, knowledge from customers and knowledge for customers. in addition, this paper proposes a strategy of merging the first and second categories of customer knowledge to form the third category. As a result of this case study, the librarians are expected to use the CKT model to organize customer knowledge which will help in facilitating the knowledge management activities including storing and sharing the knowledge. That will help them also to understand the preferences and the requirements of their customers so they can provide better services for them. The last time we saw Jackson on the field was against Texas A M in the Music City Bowl. In that game, Jackson had 453 yards of total offense and four total touchdowns. It was a war that was fought between the Wampanoag and the English, and the specific reasons for it are always contested. Perceptions of this historical event have been challenged over time. The historiography of King Phillip s war not only shows us how the events changed over time. The events changed over time from being a struggle over land for expansion for the Puritains, as well as power. That, over time evolved to a power struggle and then progressed to the idea that the Native Americans were an barrier in the way of the Puritains land access, wanting to be able to gain more access to land for their growing population size . Another belief that scholars had was that the war was fought over religion and that it was a holy war to gain more followers in the Christian faith, and bring the Native Americans to praying towns. Earlier accounts of the war focus on the first interpretations of the event, which were more ethnocentric based, and these perceptions of the war are put into a box, and are what historians base their research of. Later interpretation from the 1850 s onward until up until the 1960 s led to different interpretations, shaped by society and culture of the 19th century. Now the war was being viewed as a conquest of a civilization, instead of it being fought as a war. This difference in interpretation is due to The English were afraid that the native Americans were a threat to them, because of their ethnocentric views, and the Natives felt that they were being threatened as well, because By the nineteenth century, King Phillip and his war had become romanticized, due to the World War s romanticism. So many new ideas are present and these new ideas are not interchangeable. Some parts do work together although as a whole they don t fully coincide with each other. The three basic ideas that science is now based upon come from Newton, Einstein, and Hawking. I call these ideas/theories new based on what I classify the state of the scientific community of today. For the past three hundred years Newtonian Mechanics have been taught to every student aspiring to elevate their minds. Newtonian Mechanics were the end all to the questions that had plagued thinkers since the beginning of time. The key difference is that Newton was never exposed to the world of science that technology had made prevalent to the likes of an Einstein or Hawking, or even my colleague studying neuro surgery at John s Hopkins University. When Newton was sitting under his apple tree conjuring up ideas for how and why he did not fly off into space or why the harder you hit something the farther it goes, technology was moving along at the rate of most people s grandmothers in their walkers. The scientists that had surrounded Newton knew only of what they could see. Their were no people looking to the far ends of the galaxies and their were no people looking in to the unseen cells that make up everything that we can see. Basically, Newton did not have a reason to explain what he was not aware of. He did have quite good reason, however, to explain why he got a bump on his head from that ripe apple that no longer needed the shelter of the tree. According to Shlain, Newton set the world he knew to mechanics and set the parameters for the new and final, well what was thought to be the final paradigm of the world. Then in 1905, ... Cultural Hegemony In The American Dream Peter Carey has applied the motif of the American Dream to illustrate the issue of cultural hegemony, and the potential consequences of it in terms of a specific nation s cultural identity. The outcomes of cultural hegemony may appear if a society is heavily affected by another one and endeavours to adopt its culture in the pursuit of a better life. In American dreams, Carey depicts idealized utopian scenario and corresponding loss of townspeople s cultural identity this fantasy of the American dream emerges like one of the story s main motifs. Parallel to their mystification of the American way of life, the people of a place called Bacchus Marsh develop a negative attitude towards their own town, being dull and insignificant, as depicted in the words of the narrator s father: nothing more than a stopping place. Somewhere on the way to somewhere else (Edelson). The exact location of the Carey s remote, no one wants to live in town is unknown, even though there are some indications that it is in rural Australia. Carey uses figurative language and magic realism to achieve a sense of hidden meaning. Some toponyms really exist, like the fictional Bald Hill and actual ones with the same purpose of serving as lookouts On Bald Hill are half a dozen telescopes through which the Americans can spy on the town... • 17. The Philadelphia Museum Of Art Museum The Philadelphia Museum of Art was my first time to an art museum, and overall I think it was a good experience. When I thought of an art museum, I thought it was going to be all paintings. But as it turns out, that idea was wrong. There were lots of other forms of art there as well. The exhibit that I enjoyed the most was the International Pop exhibit. But there were also many other exhibits that I enjoyed as well. Some of those include; European, American, Arms and Armor. All every interesting exhibits that everyone should see. But those are not all, when going to this museum, every exhibit should be looked at, all have very interesting things in them. The International pop exhibit was one of my favorite out of all the exhibits. The International Pop navigates a fast paced world packed with bold and thought provoking imagery, revealing a vibrant period shaped by social, political, and cultural changes . One piece of art that I found interesting was Still Life by Tom Wesselmann, American, 1931 2004 . When looking at this piece if reminds me of different time. This piece reminds me of other art works that I have seen with the same kinds of things on it as well. Another work of art that I enjoyed was the 20th/21st Century Tribute by Antônio Henrique Amaral , this painting makes the viewer actually stop and look at it. There are many different parts to this painting too look at. When walking through the museum, this was definitely something that catches ones eye. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Poor Laws And The Problems Of The Old Poor Law According to the University of York Social Policy is the Study of the causes of social problems and what Governments attempt to do about them. The Poor Law that was introduced in 1834 was a Law that was put in place to support the poor. The law was introduced because it was getting increasingly expensive to look after the poor so parliament introduced it in hopes it would diminish the cost of looking after the poor and to get the poor out of the streets and into workhouses. Parliament promised that this new law was to give the poor Clothes, free education, food and a place to stay. The Poor Law was introduced because it was too much money to pay to look after the poor, so in hopes to take the poor off the streets and to stop money going to the poor the government introduced the law in 1834. The law was also put in place to embolden the poor to get back into work and support themselves, There was a law before 1834 called the Old Poor Law this was found to be insufficient because there was nothing in place to help the poor because even though they set up workhouses for the poor they didn t offer accommodation for the poor. There was an act passed in 1795 called The Speenhamland System which allowed employers to pay their workers exceptionally low wages during these years the middle and the upper classes were getting more angry because they were the ones paying for the poor who would avoid not going to or do any work. • 20. Holden Caulfield Character Analysis Many authors express themselves through their characters within their books. They create a writing piece through their eyes of the world. They often reflect their own personal experiences through a character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand. A reader can make connections to the story, if there are real world experiences within a character. J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, serves as an example for this. Holden Caulfield, the main character, is very opinionated and rebellious. Holden has a rough childhood, and experiences many ups and downs. He has a hard time staying at one school, and staying out of trouble. J.D. Salinger has many similarities in his life to Holden. Salinger uses many of his personal life experiences to form Holden s character and personality. To begin with, The Catcher in the Rye begins with Holden at a football game against Saxon Hall. Holden is getting kicked out of Pency Prep, and leaving fencing equipment on the subway did not help. The dean had warned him once before, but Holden did not care. He was flunking all of his classes except one, and failed to bring them up. Holden does not like his roommate, Stradlater. Stradlater is a tall, handsome, fit, and perfect on the outside guy but not so perfect in secret. Holden thinks Stradlater is a secret slob, and a phony. Stradlater shaves his face with dirty razors and passes gas. This is why Holden calls him a secret slob. Next, Stradlater takes out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Photo By: Michael Iverson, Virgin Mountains 2016 Where the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead collide, sits an ecological and historical oasis. The Virgin Mountains stand tall in the background as waterfront views of Mead paint an unforgettable scene. This desert abode served as host for early prehistoric inhabitants, Native Americans, early pioneers, Spanish miners, and presently outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurists have the opportunity to explore over 800 miles of intertwining roads that braid the landscape. Gold Butte has remained one of Mojave s most precious secrets for decades. This elegant desert hides only an hour and a half drive east of Las Vegas and just south of Mesquite, Nevada. Gold Butte s ecosystem is comprised of diverse organisms, many of which are sacred and protected plants and animals. Joshua trees sit nestled deep in the mineral enriched sand, while the bighorn sheep and tortoise roam the vast desert terrain. The almost 350,000 acres of public land is sculpted with rugged mountains, sandstone outcroppings, yucca forests, slot canyons, and flat top mesas. Is it possible that a place with such a unique array of wildlife and history can exist and remain a secret? Unfortunately, due to many factors over the past 20 years, Gold Butte has been on center stage, but not just for tourism. Once an organization is found that coincides with a nurse s own values, it makes it easier to work within the organization as a team. • 25. Argumentative Essay On Meat Meat is under attack in our society today. The media is full of articles highlighting the negative effects of meat, an army of people are trying to tarnish the reputation of meat in any way possible. More people are cutting meat from their diet now then ever before. I guess you could say then that meat is not in a good place. I recently read an article on the negative effects of meat on the human body and on the environment. The essay was good and the argument compelling by the time I finished reading I was almost persuaded to give up eating meat and live the vegetarian life style. I spent sometime mulling over the idea of giving up my some of my favorite foods, what it would be like to never again taste a warm, tender juicy steak, or bite down it to a succulent buffalo burger. I decided that if I was going to change my life in such a drastic way I had to be sure that the benefits were all that people worked them up to be. Did I give up meat then and join the ranks of the vegetarian? While researching the topic I found that although meat does have many negative effects these effects come from over eating and gorging ourselves on meat. If meat is eaten in moderation it actually has positive effects on the body. The nutriance found in meat is vital to help the body function properly, maintain brain tissue and make our minds sharper and more alert. • 26. The Debate Over the Morality of the Death Penalty Essay Senator for Utah Orrin Hatch once said, Capital punishment is our society s recognition of the sanctity of human life, (Brainy Quote). While the arguments for both sides of the debate over the morality of the death penalty are vast, the bottom line is that the death penalty does not disregard human life, but rather it reveres it, as Hatch said. Morality is defined as, The quality of being in accord with standards of right or good conduct, (The Free Dictionary). One who seeks to protect a person who has committed a heinous crime such as murder is arguably not in accords with what is right and wrong. As a result, the person may have to endure multiple jolts of shock, suffocate gradually, or slowly bleed to death (DPIC). As for the gas chamber, unconsciousness does not occur immediately and, According to former San Quentin, California, Penitentiary warden, Clifton Duffy, At first there is evidence of extreme horror, pain, and strangling, (DPIC). Another argument is that taking another life will not avenge the victim s family, as it will not bring their loved one back, and Gandhi s famous saying, An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, applies as well. Finally, anti death penalty advocates may say that it is wrong to kill a mentally ill person, as it is widely believed that anyone who would commit a crime worthy of the death penalty must have some kind of disorder, because they are not fully in control of what they are doing and they are suffering too. • 27. Understanding The World Through The Study Of Knowledge ABSTRACT: Understanding the world through the study of knowledge, the investigation of knowledge, more thoroughly known as Epistemology, is the realm of philosophy that studies the sources, nature, limitations, and rationality of knowledge. The most incisive expression of disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with standards and inquiries of justification. Epistemology without such norms, is supposed to be an endeavor not worth achieving. (Stroud,Alemder). What one induces of this is depends on whether epistemology is worth doing at all. Nevertheless, I shall verbally dispute, it is possible to reckon for justification within a naturalistic structure widely interpreted alongside with Quinean lines. In addition to, I shall propose a corrective to Quine s acclaimed pronouncement that the Humean condition is the human condition. 1. Descriptive versus Traditional Epistemologies Three perspectives The most incisive expression of disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with standards and inquiries of justification. Naturalized epistemologies questions the tradition in arguing that the sort of cognitive processes is more of a central epistemological interest than the search for elements and justification. However, Traditionalists have replied by challenging the logic of the descriptivist s assertion to be epistemologists to some extent (i.e ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coteries are polygynous social groups that black tailed prairie dogs live in (Hoogland 1983). In these groups, the one adult male reproduces with genetically similar females. The main purpose of this article is for the author (John L. Hoogland) to communicate and defend his earlier work on prairie dogs. These prairie dogs exist where some females and pups, within the coteries, do not breed (Hoogland 1983). Moreover, black tailed prairie dogs behave parentally towards non offspring (Hoogland 1983). In addition, Hoogland classifies black tailed prairie dogs as cooperative breeders; however, they do not help breeders to the same degree as cooperative breeding birds (Hoogland 1983). ... I find Hoogland s last argument inadequate because he creates a prediction based off statistics that do not support black tailed prairie dogs having an increased success from having more helpers. • 29. Self-Harm, Self Injury, And Nonsuicidal Self Suicide Self harm, self injury, and nonsuicidal self injury (NSSI) are all terms that describe the act of intentional infliction of tissue damage or pain to oneself without the intent of dying by suicide (Briere Gill, 1998; Andover et al., 2005; Nock Favazza, 2009; Klonsky, 2011; Young Stark, 2011; Makowska et al., 2016). The cases of self injury has doubled over the past ten years in adolescents (Makowska et al., 2016). Self injury is experienced by 4% of the general population, however, self harm was reported by 21% of individuals in clinical settings, and those individuals reported the behavior is often done compulsively or repetitively (Briere Gill, 1998). Studies have found that individuals with severe mental illnesses are more likely to engage in dangerous behavior including self injury and suicide attempts;, and people diagnosed with schizophrenia and mood disorders have the highest rates of suicide among all mental illnesses (Klonsky, 2011; Victor Klonsky, 2014; O Hare et al., 2015). The DSM 5 classifies Nonsuicidal Self Injury as a separate diagnostic criteria (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Klonsky, 2011), suggesting that self injury itself is considered a mental illness. The concept of the Holy Theatre comes from Peter Brook s the Empty Space, in which he separates theatre into four testaments: Deadly, Holy, Rough, and immediate though the lines between said factions blur, overlap and interplay throughout. This likewise philosophy treats theatre less as a product than as a process: a collaborative means of exploring life s mystery. I can though picture Brook throwing down his manuscript upon its completion, screaming at his beloved Shakespeare for covering it all within his works, where genius glints from every page and line with a nonchalant ease. In Brook s concept of theatre, the audience is essential; without it, nothing happens. The relationship between the actor and the audience is the only theatre reality, he once told an interviewer Brook s concepts of the deadly, the holy, the rough, the immediate, the dirty, are amazingly relevant to more areas of art and thought than just solely theatre. Homer Plessy, a seven eighths White and one eighth African American bought a rail travel ticket in Louisiana for the White car and took a seat.
