Company s Csr Efforts With Customer Base
As mentioned throughout the previous sections, Target has a very inclusive CSR program that
covers most areas under this field. Because of this, there is little for the company to do in terms
of expanding into any brand new components of CSR; therefore, it would be most beneficial to
fine tune some of its programs to align with the company s customer base more closely. Moreover,
some of Targets current CSR efforts are rather broad and the company could benefit by really
specializing within some of the areas and establishing more detailed goals. Although Target seems
to emphasize its dedication to supporting the community and collaborating with other
organizations, there seems to be a disconnect between this and some of the company s decisions.
3.2 Aligning Company s CSR Efforts with Customer Base Target recently released its third
quarter financial statements for 2016, where the company recorded an 11% increase in EPS over
last year. CEO Brian Cornell credited much of this growth to its strong back to school shopping
sales. He went on to say that Target has invested much effort in differentiating themselves from
other competitors like Walmart by offering a more family focused selection, particularly with
children s apparel and educational toys. While it seems this strategy is currently paying off for
Target, I believe Target could benefit even more by aligning its CSR efforts to connect with these
shoppers. However, it seems that Target has other plans in mind, as the

Discipline Is Vital To Parenting In Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Discipline is Vital to Parenting In today s society, parents that do not discipline their children are
perceived as nonchalant, or carefree. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer, disagrees with this
concept. Instead, Bradbury would say that discipline is a vital component of parenting, and
without it, children will commit awful acts. With the use of foreshadowing and allusion in his
short story, The Veldt , Bradbury depicts that a lack of discipline leads to horrendous, potentially
deadly consequences. Bradbury foreshadows the parents fatal deaths to develop the
repercussions they face for not disciplining Wendy and Peter. For instance, after the Hadleys
have dinner, the parents head to the nursery and find George s old wallet with drops of saliva and
blood smears on both sides (Bradbury 8). The disturbing state George and Lydia find the wallet in
hints that something is wrong with the nursery and that the virtual animals can affect real life
objects. Bradbury also adds the following dialogue between the parents: Those screams they sound
familiar. Do they? Yes, awfully (9). The two screams Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heard were strikingly
familiar because they were their own screams, hinting that the children wanted them dead and that
the lions in the nursery were going to kill them. Throughout The Veldt , the parents hardly
discipline their children, or care for them, causing the children to despise them and develop a rotten
character. Had the parents properly ruled

Reflection Of The Bean Trees
The Bean Trees Reflective Paragraph 1 Throughout the reading of The Bean Trees, by Barbara
Kingsolver, I noticed a numerous amount of times where Lou Ann seemed to somewhat change
her personality in some way or another and I started to wonder why throughout different
situations in the novel, she would do this. As we all know, Lou Ann is one of the sweetest, well
mannered young lady in this novel who also has high respect and a lot of worrisome towards her
family. When I first realized that she was having a hard time with self confidence, I couldn t quite
figure out why until later on when I realized that she was sacrificing herself for others constantly.
This is where I understood more about how she was having a hard time standing up and... Show

As I look back, I still feel somewhat sorry and thankful for where I stand today as an individual.
In Chapter 9 (Ismene), there was a scene where a method of torture during interrogation was
using an old style telephone as a crank to get answers while being tortured. I couldn t ever
imagine being tortured like this and if I was ever in a situation where I was, more than likely I
would do everything in my power to stop it from happening. I remember reading They
disconnect the receiver wires and tape the two ends to your body and imagining the process of
that and how that is so cruel to do to another human being. Although this is a method of torture to
get answers from someone, I still can t figure out why it was brought up in the book. All I can
think of is maybe that s how it was back then; but then again I thought that wouldn t there just be a
death penalty. I feel that a death penalty would ve been more appropriate since it s either life or
death depending on how you go about answering the questions. Torture just seems a little bit harsh
in my opinion, but I did like how the author brought that way up and demonstrated how it was used
as it clearly got my attention, and most definitely my

The Time Of The End
To understand the end time, or the end of this present age as we know it, you must first
understand that in the Bible the time of the end spans from the book of Genesis to the book of
Revelation. Since it is often difficult for most people to find the time to study the Bible from
cover to cover, it will be my job to highlight one of the most important threshold moments of the
end time era for your understanding, and let that serve as a quick reference to knowledge that you
so desperately need. Time is of the essence! In Last Call for The Church, you will get a truly unique
understanding of the Raptureas it applies to a collective body of believers, referred to in the Bibleas
a bride, or better known as the church. Every effort has been made to presentprecept upon precept
from the viewpoint of a Pre Tribulation Rapture.
Let me begin by saying, I did not want to write this book. I pleaded with God for five years to
please find someone else to give this call to the church. I begged Him just like Moses did, please
find someone else, someone more qualified than me, someone who speaks better than me,
(Exodus 4:13 NIV). I was clearly having my very own burning bush moment with God. I was
denying my calling by coming up with every excuse possible, and I knew it! God had caught my
attention, and He might as well have been speaking to me from a burning bush. It was just that
unreal! I mean, I saw it in the spirit; I heard it in the spirit; and I just could not believe

Social Medi Destroying The American Youth Of Today Essay
Jocelyn Lizardo Mr. Somers ERWC 18 November 2014 Social Media Social media might be
destroying the American youth of today. Social media are several websites and applications
created so people may commutate, collaborate, or share information through social networking.
Enough though social media sounds great, there are big issues such as, cyber bullying, lower
grades, and wasting an incredible amount of time. These are things we should all be cautious
about when we allow younger folks enter the world of social media. Initially, social media is
commonly used as a weapon to attack others on their opinions or simply because they despite

The Virtue Of Silence Essay
THE VIRTUE OF SILENCE
Of all the virtues that most men and women disregard, it is silence. People go about in their
everyday lives not even noticing the beauty of one s quot;inner silence. quot; Try an experiment:
Close your eyes. Tune out the sounds from everything that s surrounding you, and focus on what
is going on inside you. Take a deep breath and just listen. How many inner voices did you hear?
Most people do not even realize the amount of noise that is carried around in the human body. As
you can see, even in the remarkably noisy age we live in, the real noise is on the inside. But even
these noises can dissappear if one wishes. All one needs to do is study one of many religions, such
as Buddhism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One has to be able to drown out all sounds so that there is no sound to be heard. It s as though it
doesn t exist.
The Christian and Jewish methods, however, differ greatly. These two separate religions believe
that to go about reaching a state of perfect silence and meditation, one must pray to God. Both of
these religions teach that if a person wanted to drown out the rest of the world, including one s own
self, that person must pray. A meditative prayer where people fall into a trance, allowing only
thought to occur. No sound can penetrate their thoughts. Absolute, utter silence.
Christianity, and mainly Monasticism, believe that silence keeps the heart and soul pure. By not
speaking, one may not taint their lips with quot;evil quot;. Hence, in monasteries, monks take on
vows of silence. They believe that with the help of God they can overcome the urge to speak
evil against anyone else, thus keeping there souls pure. This, however, is much harder than it
seems. Jews and Buddhists do not always need to keep silent. Jews meditate and pray on a
weekly basis. Buddhists, too, don t feel as though they need to take on a full time vow like the
monasteries demand. It is detrimental to a monastic lifestyle that a vow of silence be kept. Its
importance is to help a monk concentrate on his prayers and his love of God. People who disregard
this important rule of monasticism are not tolerated because

Market leadership and technological innovation have marked Sealed Air s participation in the U.S.
protective packaging market. Several small regional producers have introduced products, which are
less effective than Sealed Air s but similar in appearance and cheaper. The company must determine
its response to this new competition. The company is faced with a difficult choice of choosing from

Film Noir In The Dark Knight And The Third Man
Movies have changed and it appears that less of them fit the classic guidelines of what original film
noir demands. Film noir is defined as a type of crime film featuring cynical and malevolent
characters in an unflattering setting. Such settings may include an ominous atmosphere that is
enforced by shadowy photography and foreboding background music (Dictionary). Accurate
portrayals of the genreinclude, but are not limited to: Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight, Carol
Reed s The Third Man, and John Huston s The Maltese Falcon. These films are perfect examples of
film noirbecause they are stylized crime dramas with similar attributes. I would like to start off
with Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job of making a film
noir with a modern feel. Nolan used a great screenplay, had an appropriate use of... Show more

The most intriguing aspect of the movie is that viewer cannot solely identify who is good and
who is bad . An example of this concept is the Joker (Heath Ledger). The Joker is essentially the
villain of the film. Yet Nolan humanizes the Joker, causing viewers to build a sort of sympathy
towards his character. Another character who exemplifies this is Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). In
the beginning of the movie, Dent is the district attorney who is nobly trying to rid the city of bad
influence. Until, he and his girlfriend Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) are targets of the Joker.
When Batman chooses to save Dent over Rachel due to limited time, he turns to the dark side and
becomes known as Two Face. Then there is, Bruce Wayne/Batman

you can t control what they put in them and a giant cup of smoothie isn t healthy. When you do
make them at home be careful about your portions you should only throw one serving of fruit in it

Even if you prefer the sugar free options they re still going to contribute to a serious high before

The Bell Jar
Throughout the movie, The Other Boleyn Girl and the novel, The Bell Jar, director Justin
Chadwick and author Sylvia Plath respectively present the struggles faced by women in order to
establish identities within their patriarchal societies. The authors of both texts explore these causes
by situating their texts within a society where women are potentially disempowered at the hands of
men. Where Chadwick explores the systematic disempowerment of women who are a threat to their
men, Plath contrastingly reconnoitres the dissociation women experience when they don t fit
societal expectation. In order to heighten reader s response and personalise the respective texts,
each author has explored the experiences of a central female protagonist. However,... Show more

Within both texts, it is clear that the societal expectations of women are what separate the genders:
women are caged in a domestic duty to their men, used purely for marriage, reputation and
procreation purposes. Esther, who consistently rejects the ideals held by the society at the time,
resents these duties, however Anne accepts and acts accordingly to her domesticated expectations
in order to become the Queen of England. Society within both texts is governed by the domination
of men in powerful occupations, particularly obvious through King Henry being the King of
England, and Buddy Willard of The Bell Jar being in training to become a doctor. The hierarchy
instigated by Chadwick gives men a pseudo religious authority, demonstrated by the consistent
reference to religion and the wrath of God instilled by all characters. Through King Henry XVIII
governing his country based on the Catholic faith, and then excommunicating himself from the
church in order to divorce his wife, Chadwick is successful in expressing the unimaginable
power men were in possession of. Furthermore, in the novel as opposed to the movie, it is seen
that Henry divorces his wife, Katherine of Aragon (who was originally married to his brother),
after realising that, as stated in Leviticus 20:21, sleeping with another mans wife is barred by the
Catholic church and such a union will remain childless. These intertextual references give the men
arguably Biblical power, reinforced by the nomenclature: with the central main character of King
Henry consistently being referred to as either King , My Lord or His Majesty . While his dealings
as King remain unclear to the reader, it is clear that his position is one of immense power.
Contrastingly, Anne Boleyn, as a widely read, intelligent female character, attracts King Henry with

The Between Vigne s And Davis s Accounts
Davis s monograph demonstrates the complexity of the story that Vigne failed to incorporate as
well as to point out the differences of the interpretations between Vigne s and Davis s accounts.
Davis provides a detailed description of the two trials of the accused imposter. The first trial
occurs at a local court in Rieux, where the imposter is charged with stealing another person s
identity and impersonating Martin s life, while in the film the trial occurs in the same village of
Artigat. Pierre Guerre, Martin s uncle, presents the charge of imposture. Davis argues that
Bertrande implies her support for the accusation with the hopes that Pierre would lose the case
against the imposter. Bertrande proceeds to protect herself by coaching the imposter covertly
while publicly supporting the move by Pierre. Specifically, Davis asserts that the couple worked
out a plan to follow during the trials to counter Pierre s arguments. Bertrande either by explicit or
tacit agreement ... helped him become her husband (Benson 44). The trial declares the imposter
guilty of the crime and sentence him to death, but he appeals the case. After the trial, according to
Davis, there was a scheme by the couple to show Pierre coerced Bertrande into lying for him.
Consequently, Davis interprets Bertrande s actions as a double game. Bertrande first sends him
[the imposter] food and money to indicate her support, but then she agrees with Pierre that she will
become a plaintiff (56). Davis shows

She spent all her time doing household chores and creating a barrier between herself and her
daughter. Through introspection she realizes that she needs to spend more time with her daughter
hugging and showing her love, but she is too late. The point of view in every work of literature
can be different. An author uses the point of view to stress one aspect of a story or a novel to make
it more meaningful. The point of view in this short story is crucial in understanding the
phycological standpoint of the main character. The author s decision to make this story in first
person allows for the reader to really get inside the character s head. If the story was not written
in first person then it would be much harder for the reader to understand the true feelings of the
character. For instance, the regret the narrator felt for the way she raised Emily would not be as
evident and sincere if the author just wrote, The mother really felt bad for the way she raised
Emily. Another significant purpose of writing this story in first person is because it allows the
narrator to express her own thoughts and feelings. In order to fully grasp the narrator s mindset it is
necessary to hear the story from her point of view. One very important aspect of a psychological
story is introspection. The character looks into their actions and thoughts and grows through their
thoughts. It would be very difficult to see and understand the introspection of

agent assists clients in buying or selling houses. A real estate agent must have a great knowledge
of the local market and is able to tell someone how much their house is worth. Agents also must
have a general knowledge of the communities in the area, as well as any restrictions or covenants
for that same area. In a way, real estate agents serve as the backbone to the entire deal. We assist

Young Misleading Love in Romeo and Juliet
Young love is a very deep immature feeling, which tends to misguide those affected by it, and the
affected ones fall too deeply in love, which leads to a tendency of self destruction. The concept of
the young misguiding love is emphasized in the drama, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare.
Romeo and Juliet are young when they first see each other and make the mistake of loving each
other without knowing their family names. Their deep lovewithout any understanding of the
concept of love leads to the young lovers committing suicide, which is a rash decision. They do not
embrace their situation, and think about other solutions other than suicide. Romeo and Juliet act on

He jumps right in, and tells Balthasar to get the horses ready at once. Romeo and Juliet s lack of
maturity also causes them to love one another without a limit. They are too immature to realize
that the feeling of love should not conquer common sense and reasoning. They love each other
too such an extreme, that they are inseparable; and once separated, they are willing to go up to
any extent to be loyal to each other and their love. This idea is strongly emphasized when Juliet is
willing to kill herself rather than marry Paris which proves that she is loyal to her love. Romeo, in
return, kills himself after he sees Juliet dead, which shows that he too is loyal to his love. Romeo
and Juliet are both young and immature when they fall in love with each other, and their
immaturity results in them not understanding that love has its limits. The young lovers love to an
extreme neglecting love s limits, which leads to them not taking mature decisions and steps, but
rather rashly and abruptly on impulse to honor their love for each other. Romeo and Juliet feel such
a burden to honor their love for each other that they end up committing suicide.
Romeo and Juliet s excessive love and blind love are the most powerful ingredients to their self
destruction. The young lovers, Romeo and Juliet s idolatry for each other symbolizes excessive
love by them willing to go against their families and committing suicide at the

idea of being able to help someone for the better and even saving their life. To help me get into one
of the jobs in these professions I chose psychology a level, and health and social care level 3 at
college. These subjects will hopefully get me into university and a job that I am wanting to go into.

quite good at making and listing ideas for things. I am good at being able to adapt and change to
fit my environment or work. I am also good at making the right and appropriate decisions for
things that tend to work a lot/most of the time. All these skills are important in a health and social
care environment and setting as they show that I can be on time for anything and that I am good at
making the correct decisions for myself and that I am also confident and trust myself, so others can
also trust me.

Bacteria Classification by Gram Staining Essay
Bacteria Classification By Gram Staining
THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO
BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
SCIENCE 453 : BIOLOGY FOR ENGINEERS REPORT No.1
Presented By : Karim A. Zaklama 92 1509 Sci. 453 01

Objective:
To test a sample of laboratory prepared bacteria and categorise it according to Christian s gram
positive and gram negative classes and also by viewing it under a high powered microscope and
oil immersions; classify its shape and note any special characteristics.
Introduction:
Bacteria was categorised into two groups in 1884 by the Danish
Bacteriologist Christian, gram positive and gram negative by a staining technique where the ability
to avoid de coloration of Crystal Violet solution by alcohol would render the category ... Show more

11. Leave the slide to air dry.
B. Examination:
1. Place the slide under microscope on low powered lens. 2. Move the slide using the apparatus
until the sample can be seen as a blur under the microscope.
3. Focus the lens to ensure that there is a sample directly under the lens. 4.
Move to higher powered lens, repeat step 3. 5. Move to higher powered lens, repeat step 3 6. Move
microscope aside and add Oil immersion, leave for a few seconds and re examine the slide.
Note Shape and colour and any other observations.
Results and Observations:
It was evident by visual examination that the alcohol was de colouring or a least partially de
colouring the bacteria. The sample appeared a dark pink or close to violet by the naked eye; a
microscope was needed to ensure results. Under the low powered microscope shades of pink
were noted. Under the medium power, the shades were more clear but no shape could be made
out. Under the high powered microscope clumps of pink rod (bacilli) shaped bacteria cells could
be observed. Under Oil Immersion and high powered lens the cells could seen more spaced out
and thus a clearer indication of the pink colour, bacilli shape and spores could be made out in the
individual cells.
Conclusion:
The Shape was noted as Bacilli (Rod like) shaped cells; a gram variable shape, distinct in either
Gram Negative or Gram positive bacteria. The final colour of the cells were stained pink by

Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Summary
The Golden Lotus Lisa See s novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is narrated by an eighty year
old Lily as she reflects back on her life in China during the 1800 s. Lily s story begins in her early
life when she is six years old a diviner and matchmaker, both tell Lily s mother to take special care
with her footbinding for she had the potential of having them be perfect. The story continues
through the process of Lily and her surrounding female relatives foot bindingexperience until she is
eleven and her feet have healed perfectly resulting in the golden lotus. This perfect foot binding
grants her an immediate marriageproposal to a wealthy high class family in a distant city from their
rural country home. The rest of the tale is about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say that this was a way for men to hold dominance over a female due to the fact that she
could not run away with such fragile feet. The bound feet are also thought to have shown social
class if a family could bind the feet of a member of their family, hence they did need that person
to work, it showed a greater social status. From this book s perspective, it was a duty a daughter
could perform in order to secure a prosperous marriage, thereby providing financial security for
her family and herself. Men desired these golden lotus feet and so women made the physical
sacrifice to show their virtue and dedication to being a virtuous wife. At one point in the book,
Lily and Snow Flower must flee from rebel warriors and hike up a snowy mountain, granted this
is a fictitious story but the foot binding did not cause these women to be immobile. The women
in the story experienced horrific pain during this trek until the snow helped numb their feet, but I
imagine that anyone that had experienced the five to seven years it took to bind their feet and
then learned to perform daily task on those feet could carry them a long while if they wanted to
escape their marriages. It is my opinion that the fear of starvation or worse possibilities for a
woman would keep a woman in a marriage during these times, they did not need to reshape their
feet. In addition,

Evaluation Of A Nurse For My Clinical Essay
This week, I had the opportunity to be in the OR department for my clinical. I spent a whole day
observing the operation processes and the procedure itself, at the same time, I was able to get
the patient to the post operative care before they are discharged or sent to another floor for
further observation. I had an opportunity to observe four procedures. When I first arrived I was
fortunate enough to meet with a nurse who let me in the OR, who happened to be the
preoperative nurse that I will work with. After changing, we got a list of 2 patients. The first
thing the nurse did was to explain to me that we had to look for basic information such as
allergies, lab results, present history and physical for the patient. If there is no previous history
within the last month or weeks, then we need to remind the doctor to write a new one. Once we
met with the patients, we started by taking vital signs, asking their identity, and ask them to explain
why they are there and what procedure they are there for. I remember my nurse asking the patients
about whether or not they are in the menopausal stages or if there is a chance of them being
pregnant. At the same time, my nurse gave antibacterial wipes for the patients to wipe themselves
in specific areas and change into the hospital gowns. My nurse then started the IV with fluid and
antibiotics while we discuss the medical history of the patient from the previous procedure to active
diagnosis, to medication that they are taking and

Absolutism Dbq
After the Renaissance, there were many factors that gave way and led to chaos, and then the choice
between an absolutist government, or a constitutional one. These factors included the decline of the

from famed Renaissance thinkers, and riots/revolts from unhappy citizens of numerous classes.
Some states like France, Russia, and Prussia, resulted in all the power gathered under the monarch

They all had similar tactics in taxation, but each had economic policies which resembled one
another. Colbert, Louis XIV s financial manager, promoted mercantilism, a policy of maintaining a
favorable balance of trade in order to accumulate wealth. These mercantilist policies massively
boosted France s economy. The French people were to produce everything they needed, exports
were increased, and immigration by talented peoples was encouraged. Positively, this approach
allowed France to become a competitor in trade. As a result, France surged in power and wealth,
giving Louis XIV the ability and money to reform other areas of the government. Likewise, Peter
the Great was inspired by his travels to use mercantilist ideas. More money meant more opportunity
to better the country. Furthermore, he boosted industry and production of raw materials. This
whole economic sector was underneath the monarchy s control, in order to promote the success

Causes Of Neurogenesis Of Autism
Neurogenesis of Autism
Molecular switching on/off due to genetic mutation is one of the causes of developing Autism. In a
new study, neurogenesis mechanism which increases the risk of development the autistic spectrum
disorder has been explored.
UBE3A gene encoded an enzyme in human named Ubiquitin protein ligase E3A. Changes in this
gene may cause different neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism and Angelman syndrome.
Autism is a genetically heterogeneous disorder associated with synaptic deficits, social impairment,
and stereotyped behaviors. For a number of years, researchers in genetic science have been
exploring so many gene mutations in patients with autism and their families but how these
mutations affect protein function or contribute to disease was unknown. It is therefore welcome
news that recent study explored the molecular mechanism that seems to underlie autism disorders.

Character Elements In Pygmaite
The story illustrates the Pygmalion myth originated from Ovid s Metamorphoses in which
Pygmalion is a sculptor who creates a sculpture of a woman so perfectly formed he falls in love
with her. While Shaw maintains the skeletal structure of the fantasy in which a gifted male
fashions a woman out of lifeless raw material into a worthy partner for himself, Shaw does not
allow the male to fall in love with his creation. In Pygmalion George Bernard Shawincorporates the
idealistic attitude of Ovid s Metamorphoses Aphrodite by emphasizing the connection between
Professor Higgins and Eliza Doolittle through intense insults. Professor Henry Higgins of
George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion is a dominant character in the story. He is particularly direct,

Sacagawea s Impact On The Lewis And Clark Expedition
Sacagawea s help on the Lewis and Clark Expedition Makes it a Success All across America
people know the name of Sacagawea, the Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Sacagawea was known for being the only woman on the expedition, but many people may not
know all the reasons as to how she survived being the only woman. She became strong through all
of the events that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition,
survived because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good
interpreting skills. Sacagawea, also known as Bird woman, was the daughter of a Shoshonechief( A

born in either 1788 or in 1789(Patrick, Mcgrath). Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa
Indians at the young age of 12 and she was also raised by them( A Fine Boy ). Because she was
the daughter of an Indian tribe, she made the expedition a success and was able to accompany
Lewis and Clark on their return back to their own country(Fisher,Doris,pg 14). The expedition may
not have been a success without the courage and the knowledge of Sacagawea(Kelly, Stephanie,p

How To Understand Gymnastics

Everybody knows that feeling when you finally accomplish something that you have been
working on for a long time. This is a major part of Gymnastics. The sport is all about working up

where you wanted to be. You have to just get over the fact that yes, you may fall or not get it on the

or you will get out of practice and loose the feeling and sensation of that trick. So I guess that

How To Keep Food On Landfill
Keeping Food on the Plate, and out of Landfill s We as people probably don t realize how much
good food we throw away every day and how much of it lands in a landfill where so much of it goes
to waste. So much of perfectly good food is being thrown away when it could go to someone who
really needs it. Although I concede that the best buy and use by labels law is a big contributor to
landfills, I still insist that people overbuying foodis one of the biggest contributors to landfills. Let s
start out by discussing why landfills are becoming largely filled with perfectly good food. Some
people when they go grocery shopping feel like they need to have a full fridge and panty but
when in reality half the food they buy ends up going in the trash. Some people also have food go
to waste because they don t know how to properly store leftovers and ways to keep it fresh and
last longer. Whenever you buy something there will be a label on their that will either say use
by this date or best buy this date. Some people only go by the dates and think since its past the
date we need to throw it away. Households are not the only place where food is coming from that
ends up in a landfill. Now let s discuss the reasons why the food label law is not one of the big
contributors to the landfills.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This theory looks deeper at a personal level of the way one views their self worth and position in
society (Macionis, 2015).
Social stratification is the way in which our society places people into categories based on
certain principles. Principles such as social position in a society, and class standing. It s based
on a hierarchy of what one has and of inequalities, in addition to beliefs represented with in that
society. Social inequalities stem from what a group of people believes to make themselves
different from others and set apart. These inequalities give certain people more power than
others, while setting them off as being unequal s. We see these inequalities in all aspects of our
culture, from wealth and occupation, to race and gender. Sexual orientation outside of the norm is
a large bases of inequality in our culture, leaving people debating whether to reveal their sexual

of mind based on romantic and emotional attraction to another person. The norm with in our society
is heterosexuality, being attracted to the opposite sex, however, for some this may not be their
preference. Sexual orientation can also be seen as homosexual, bisexual and asexual also known as

Atrocities of the Holocaust Essay
Of all the examples of injustice against humanity in history, the Jewish Holocaust is one of the
most prominent. From 1933 to 1945, the Nazis waged a vicious war against Jews and other lesser
races . This war came to a head with the Final Solution in 1938. One of the most horrific results of
the Final Solution were the scores of concentration and death camps spread across Nazi Germany,
Poland, and other parts of Nazi controlled Europe. In the aftermath of the Holocaust, people around
the world were shocked by final tallies of human losses, and the people responsible were punished
for their inhuman acts. The Holocaust was a dark time in the history of the world. The beginnings
of the Holocaust can be traced as far back as 1933, when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the first major act of violence against Jews in Germany. The Nazi s intentions were
now clear. Nazi plans for the Jews of Europe were outlined in the Final Solution to the Jewish
question in 1938. In a meeting of some of Hitler s top officials, the idea of the complete
annihilation of Jews in Europe was hatched. By the time the meeting was over, the Final
Solution had been created. The plans included in the Final Solution included the deportation,
exploitation, and eventual extermination of European Jews. In September 1939, Germany
invaded western Poland. Most, if not all Jews in German occupied lands were rounded up and
taken either to ghettos or to concentration camps. The ghettos, which were located inside cities,
were a sort of city/prison to segregate Jews from the rest of the public. Conditions in ghettos were
horrific. Jews were subject too mass overcrowding, lack of food, and lack of sanitation, as well as
brutality by Nazi guards. By June 1941, most of the Jews in Europe lived in lands controlled by
Nazi Germany. The SS deployed 3000 death squads, or Einsatzgruppen , to dispatch Jews in large
numbers (Wallechinsky). In September 1941, all Jews were forced to wear yellow Stars of David
on their arms

What is the primary function of connective tissue?
The connective tissue s primary function is to join bodily structures like bones and muscles to each
other or to hold tissues in their correct places in the body.
B. What can the shape of the cells in a particular type of tissue tell about the function of that tissue?
The shape of the cells in a particular tissue can tell us the function of that particular tissue based on
how it can move or communicate with other parts of the body. For example, a neuron can carry
electrical messages from the brain to other parts of the body because these cells are long and thin,
making them mobile.
C. What is matrix? Why do some tissues have more matrix than others?
The matrix is the extracellular fibers and ground substance of a connective tissue. Some tissues
have more matrix because the cells and fibers are not as tightly packed.
D. What do collagen fibers provide?
Collagen is strong and flexible and resists force in one direction. It is stronger than steel when

H. J Mccloskey s Article On Being An Atheist
H. J. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why
he is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable
and reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the
cosmological argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the
ontological argument. He then goes on to say how belief in Godis not necessary and living by faith
is irrational. My goal of this paper is to examine his article, point out the flaws, and prove that his
arguments do not prove atheism to be true. McCloskey refers to proofs as an argument that
favors God but cannot make a case for God. He then goes on to argue that those proofs should
not be used and discarded. Dr. Foreman, however, suggested the accumulative case approach,
which tells us to collect the proofs and evidence that says God, in fact, exists. One main reason
that we cannot be one hundred percent sure when we say that God exists is the possibility of us
being wrong. On one hand, Dr. Foreman argues that things that take place around us are evidence
of God. However, McCloskey says that the case for God cannot be proved through Christianity. In
response to McCloskey, we believe in many things that are unseen but have... Show more content on

These arguments both refer to a creator of some sort whether that is God or another outside force.
The teleological argument, however, suggests that there is purpose within the order of the universe.
McCloskey believes that both arguments, the cosmological and teleological arguments, cannot
prove that God is the ultimate designer. He also claims that there is not enough, if any, proof of a
designer. To counter his argument, I would argue that there is not enough proof to prove that there
is not a creator however, not one side can be absolutely sure that they are completely

Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Essay
Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Meyer (2010) states that since the birth of the EITC in
1975 it has grown dramatically in size and is now the largest antipoverty program for the non aged
in the United States. Meyer (2010) continues that in 2007, 25 million families received EITC
payments totaling $49.7 billion. Meyer (2010) avers that as a result, the EITC lifted at least 4.0
million individuals above the poverty line. Meyer (2010) further continues to explain that in
addition to directly raising incomes, the EITC has sharply changed work incentives, currently
increasing the after‐taxwage by up to 45% for those with low earnings.
The EITC overall is part of the tax system and does not necessitate individuals to have a tax
liability that the credit offsets. Meyer (2010) maintains that a person without a net tax liability
receives it as a payment that, by 2009, could be as large as $5,657. The objective of the EITC has
been to move earnings while stimulating employment. This characteristic paved the way for
political support for its early acceptance and for its following development. The agenda has
undertaken more distinction in recent years as policy makers have sought to decrease the reliance
that they assert has been promoted by welfare programs.
It s well known that elevated and unrelenting poverty is excessively found in rural areas, with
isolated rural areas experiencing the utmost poverty. Mammen and Lawrence (2006) state that time

Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Essay
Percy Jackson: The LightingThief The book Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief is one of the
five books in the Percy Jackson series. The series was written by Rick Riordan. The whole series
is based on Greek mythology. As you can tell by the title, the series is based on a twelve year old
boy named Percy Jackson. I have read the first two books and I will try to finish the series. The
book starts out by describing Percy Jackson and his school. He is a twelve year old boy that lives
with his mom and step father. He is in his sixth grade year and he is not a very good student. He
discovers that there is something wrong with him, he is half human, half god. He is sent to
Camp Half Blood so he can be safe from the monsters that attack half bloods. At camp he figures
out that he the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. When Zeus s master bolt, his main weapon, is
stolen, Poseidon and Percy are to blame. Percy is given until the summer solstice to retrieve the
master bolt and return it to Zeus. Percy believes that Hades, the god of the underworld, is behind...

Similarities And Differences Between Acidosis And Alkalosis
Differences between Acidosis and Alkalosis
Acidosis is when the pH of one s blood is below the normal level of 7.35. Alkalosis is when the pH
of one s blood is above 7.45. These can be broken down into two categories respiratory and
metabolic. Normal oxygen (CO2) levels are 35 45 mmHg in systemic arterial blood. Normal levels
for HCO3в€’ 22 26mEq/liter in systemic arterial blood.
Respiratory Acidosis occurs when the lungs cannot remove all the carbon dioxide that the body
makes. In turn this makes fluid in the body become too acidic. The distinctive feature of
respiratory acidosis is an abnormally high PCO2, meaning above 45 mmHg. Improper exhalation
of oxygen can cause the blood pH to drop. Any condition that decreases the movement of CO2
from the blood to the alveoli of the lungs to the atmosphere causes a buildup of CO2, H2CO3,
and H+ (Tortora, 2014, p.1036) . Symptoms of this condition may include: confusion, lethargy,
fatigue, sleepiness, and shortness of breath. Probable causes are: obesity, disease of the chest,
diseases of the lungs and airways, and drugs that suppress breathing (MedlinePLus, 2012). A
health care provider will perform a physical exam to see if this is what is happening. He may do
so by: arterial blood gas which measures oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood, basic
metabolic panel, a chest x ray, or possibly a pulmonary function test (MedlinePLus, 2012).
Treatment is mainly aimed at the underlying cause not at condition itself. It is treated

Theme Of Comradery In All Quiet On The Western Front
The psychologist Sigmund Freud once said, Because every man has a right over his own life and
war destroys lives that were full of promise; it forces the individual into situations that shame his
manhood, obliging him to murder fellow men, against his will. He initially stated this when he was
corresponding with Albert Einstein via letter. This quote is also a great explanation of the events
that take place during war that people chose to not recognise. War is terrible, and no matter how
hard we try, nothing will change that. Erich Maria Remarqueshows us that soldiers have endured
dreadfully throughout World War I
in his book All Quiet on the Western Front. The character in the
book, Paul Baumer, endures through the tragedies of war with some of his old schoolmates as
well as new comrades that he meets along the way. They survive through all of the tragedies
together, but in the end, the war made them lose their friendships as well as their lives. The reality
is that war comes with consequences while it destroys people, and there is nothing that will ever
be able to change that. The book All Quiet on the Western Front shows how war comes destroys
people s lives with its consequences through three of its themes: the importance of comradery, the
loss of innocence, and the horrors and brutality of war.
Comradery proved to be a great importance to all of the soldiers throughout the war. Whenever
somebody would get into a troublesome time, there was always another soldier

Mexican Drug War Essay
The Mexican Drug War
By: Blake Cohen

Word Count: 3800
Date: 4/22/13
In 2006, Mexico began to crack down on drug trafficking operations in union with the United
States. Why all of the sudden? In regard to that question, my paper will include a history of events
leading up to this sudden crack down on drug trafficking, from its start in the 1960 s until today.
After the history of the drug war, I will discuss the main states involved like the United States and
Mexico itself. Along with their main goal of eliminating drug trafficking all together, although it is
a very high expectation. Mexico has sent out 50,000 soldiers that are being paid less than a burrito
vendor, in attempt to lessen the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In February 2011 the United States began sending unarmed drones to collect information on
drug traffickers. Later in August, the United States started in cross border raids, sending CIA
operatives and older military personnel to aid the Mexican military. In addition to assisting
Mexico, the United States increased security on our side and spends approximately $3 billion on
securing the border. Decriminalization is a highly disputed policy option, in November of 2012
two states in the United States passed laws for the legalization of recreational use of marijuana.
However, it is still a United States federal law that marijuana is illegal. Although
decriminalization would lead to less incarcerations, it would put more drugs in the hands of
users and increase drug exporting from Mexico. A prime strategy that both the United States
and Mexico have been using is to take out the high value individuals or foot soldiers . This takes
out the mass exporters but still leaves the middle and lower class drug traffickers. Which then the
middle class moves up and takes over for whatever high value cartel that was just taken out.
Almost immediately after, Mexico s new president, Enrique PeГ±a Nieto took office in December
of 2012. Of those who reported missing or those who just disappeared the PeГ±a Nieto government
claims they will seek to verify all the missing ones. After coming into office, the administration of
PeГ±a Nieto changes the security policies. In

The Pros And Cons Of Restraint
Restraints limit a patient s movement. This brings up many ethical debates and issues. There are
certain guidelines that should be followed when it comes to using restraints. It is important to know
the different kinds of restraints, how to apply a physical restraint properly and how to administer a
chemical restraint safely. It is important to consider alternatives as the use of restraints can present
risk and negative outcomes.
History of Restraints Restraints were incorporated into health care many decades ago. In the
late 1970s, more than 25% of U.S residents in long term care facilities were restrained compared
to a current average of 5% (Taylor, Lillis, Lynn, 2015, p. 707). Since 1987, the federal
government and accrediting agencies have worked to reduce or eliminate the use of restraints
(Taylor et al. 2015, p. 708). Also according to Taylor, Lillis, and Lynn (2015) a Safety Alert from
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995 informed nurses and other members of the
health care team the risks of using side rails, especially when all four side rails are up.
Different Types of Restraints There are three categories of restraints. The three categories are
physical, chemical, and seclusion. According to Springer (2015), a physical restraint is a device that
keeps the patient from moving freely or from the patient harming themselves or other people
nearby. Chemical restraints are drugs that are administered that do the same thing a physical
restraint does.

  • 2. Company s Csr Efforts With Customer Base As mentioned throughout the previous sections, Target has a very inclusive CSR program that covers most areas under this field. Because of this, there is little for the company to do in terms of expanding into any brand new components of CSR; therefore, it would be most beneficial to fine tune some of its programs to align with the company s customer base more closely. Moreover, some of Targets current CSR efforts are rather broad and the company could benefit by really specializing within some of the areas and establishing more detailed goals. Although Target seems to emphasize its dedication to supporting the community and collaborating with other organizations, there seems to be a disconnect between this and some of the company s decisions. 3.2 Aligning Company s CSR Efforts with Customer Base Target recently released its third quarter financial statements for 2016, where the company recorded an 11% increase in EPS over last year. CEO Brian Cornell credited much of this growth to its strong back to school shopping sales. He went on to say that Target has invested much effort in differentiating themselves from other competitors like Walmart by offering a more family focused selection, particularly with children s apparel and educational toys. While it seems this strategy is currently paying off for Target, I believe Target could benefit even more by aligning its CSR efforts to connect with these shoppers. However, it seems that Target has other plans in mind, as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Discipline Is Vital To Parenting In Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Discipline is Vital to Parenting In today s society, parents that do not discipline their children are perceived as nonchalant, or carefree. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer, disagrees with this concept. Instead, Bradbury would say that discipline is a vital component of parenting, and without it, children will commit awful acts. With the use of foreshadowing and allusion in his short story, The Veldt , Bradbury depicts that a lack of discipline leads to horrendous, potentially deadly consequences. Bradbury foreshadows the parents fatal deaths to develop the repercussions they face for not disciplining Wendy and Peter. For instance, after the Hadleys have dinner, the parents head to the nursery and find George s old wallet with drops of saliva and blood smears on both sides (Bradbury 8). The disturbing state George and Lydia find the wallet in hints that something is wrong with the nursery and that the virtual animals can affect real life objects. Bradbury also adds the following dialogue between the parents: Those screams they sound familiar. Do they? Yes, awfully (9). The two screams Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heard were strikingly familiar because they were their own screams, hinting that the children wanted them dead and that the lions in the nursery were going to kill them. Throughout The Veldt , the parents hardly discipline their children, or care for them, causing the children to despise them and develop a rotten character. Had the parents properly ruled ... Reflection Of The Bean Trees The Bean Trees Reflective Paragraph 1 Throughout the reading of The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver, I noticed a numerous amount of times where Lou Ann seemed to somewhat change her personality in some way or another and I started to wonder why throughout different situations in the novel, she would do this. As we all know, Lou Ann is one of the sweetest, well mannered young lady in this novel who also has high respect and a lot of worrisome towards her family. When I first realized that she was having a hard time with self confidence, I couldn t quite figure out why until later on when I realized that she was sacrificing herself for others constantly. As I look back, I still feel somewhat sorry and thankful for where I stand today as an individual. In Chapter 9 (Ismene), there was a scene where a method of torture during interrogation was using an old style telephone as a crank to get answers while being tortured. I couldn t ever imagine being tortured like this and if I was ever in a situation where I was, more than likely I would do everything in my power to stop it from happening. I remember reading They disconnect the receiver wires and tape the two ends to your body and imagining the process of that and how that is so cruel to do to another human being. Although this is a method of torture to get answers from someone, I still can t figure out why it was brought up in the book. All I can think of is maybe that s how it was back then; but then again I thought that wouldn t there just be a death penalty. I feel that a death penalty would ve been more appropriate since it s either life or death depending on how you go about answering the questions. Torture just seems a little bit harsh in my opinion, but I did like how the author brought that way up and demonstrated how it was used as it clearly got my attention, and most definitely my ... The Time Of The End To understand the end time, or the end of this present age as we know it, you must first understand that in the Bible the time of the end spans from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation. Since it is often difficult for most people to find the time to study the Bible from cover to cover, it will be my job to highlight one of the most important threshold moments of the end time era for your understanding, and let that serve as a quick reference to knowledge that you so desperately need. Time is of the essence! In Last Call for The Church, you will get a truly unique understanding of the Raptureas it applies to a collective body of believers, referred to in the Bibleas a bride, or better known as the church. Every effort has been made to presentprecept upon precept from the viewpoint of a Pre Tribulation Rapture. Let me begin by saying, I did not want to write this book. I pleaded with God for five years to please find someone else to give this call to the church. I begged Him just like Moses did, please find someone else, someone more qualified than me, someone who speaks better than me, (Exodus 4:13 NIV). I was clearly having my very own burning bush moment with God. I was denying my calling by coming up with every excuse possible, and I knew it! God had caught my attention, and He might as well have been speaking to me from a burning bush. It was just that unreal! People go about in their everyday lives not even noticing the beauty of one s quot;inner silence. quot; Try an experiment: Close your eyes. Tune out the sounds from everything that s surrounding you, and focus on what is going on inside you. Take a deep breath and just listen. How many inner voices did you hear? Most people do not even realize the amount of noise that is carried around in the human body. As you can see, even in the remarkably noisy age we live in, the real noise is on the inside. One has to be able to drown out all sounds so that there is no sound to be heard. It s as though it doesn t exist. The Christian and Jewish methods, however, differ greatly. These two separate religions believe that to go about reaching a state of perfect silence and meditation, one must pray to God. Both of these religions teach that if a person wanted to drown out the rest of the world, including one s own self, that person must pray. A meditative prayer where people fall into a trance, allowing only thought to occur. No sound can penetrate their thoughts. Absolute, utter silence. Christianity, and mainly Monasticism, believe that silence keeps the heart and soul pure. By not speaking, one may not taint their lips with quot;evil quot;. Hence, in monasteries, monks take on vows of silence. They believe that with the help of God they can overcome the urge to speak evil against anyone else, thus keeping there souls pure. This, however, is much harder than it seems. Jews and Buddhists do not always need to keep silent. Jews meditate and pray on a weekly basis. Buddhists, too, don t feel as though they need to take on a full time vow like the monasteries demand. It is detrimental to a monastic lifestyle that a vow of silence be kept. Its importance is to help a monk concentrate on his prayers and his love of God. People who disregard this important rule of monasticism are not tolerated because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Bell Jar Throughout the movie, The Other Boleyn Girl and the novel, The Bell Jar, director Justin Chadwick and author Sylvia Plath respectively present the struggles faced by women in order to establish identities within their patriarchal societies. The authors of both texts explore these causes by situating their texts within a society where women are potentially disempowered at the hands of men. Where Chadwick explores the systematic disempowerment of women who are a threat to their men, Plath contrastingly reconnoitres the dissociation women experience when they don t fit societal expectation. In order to heighten reader s response and personalise the respective texts, each author has explored the experiences of a central female protagonist. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within both texts, it is clear that the societal expectations of women are what separate the genders: women are caged in a domestic duty to their men, used purely for marriage, reputation and procreation purposes. Esther, who consistently rejects the ideals held by the society at the time, resents these duties, however Anne accepts and acts accordingly to her domesticated expectations in order to become the Queen of England. Society within both texts is governed by the domination of men in powerful occupations, particularly obvious through King Henry being the King of England, and Buddy Willard of The Bell Jar being in training to become a doctor. The hierarchy instigated by Chadwick gives men a pseudo religious authority, demonstrated by the consistent reference to religion and the wrath of God instilled by all characters. Through King Henry XVIII governing his country based on the Catholic faith, and then excommunicating himself from the church in order to divorce his wife, Chadwick is successful in expressing the unimaginable power men were in possession of. Furthermore, in the novel as opposed to the movie, it is seen that Henry divorces his wife, Katherine of Aragon (who was originally married to his brother), after realising that, as stated in Leviticus 20:21, sleeping with another mans wife is barred by the Catholic church and such a union will remain childless. These intertextual references give the men arguably Biblical power, reinforced by the nomenclature: with the central main character of King Henry consistently being referred to as either King , My Lord or His Majesty . While his dealings as King remain unclear to the reader, it is clear that his position is one of immense power. The Between Vigne s And Davis s Accounts Davis s monograph demonstrates the complexity of the story that Vigne failed to incorporate as well as to point out the differences of the interpretations between Vigne s and Davis s accounts. Davis provides a detailed description of the two trials of the accused imposter. The first trial occurs at a local court in Rieux, where the imposter is charged with stealing another person s identity and impersonating Martin s life, while in the film the trial occurs in the same village of Artigat. Pierre Guerre, Martin s uncle, presents the charge of imposture. Davis argues that Bertrande implies her support for the accusation with the hopes that Pierre would lose the case against the imposter. Specifically, Davis asserts that the couple worked out a plan to follow during the trials to counter Pierre s arguments. Bertrande either by explicit or tacit agreement ... helped him become her husband (Benson 44). The trial declares the imposter guilty of the crime and sentence him to death, but he appeals the case. After the trial, according to Davis, there was a scheme by the couple to show Pierre coerced Bertrande into lying for him. Consequently, Davis interprets Bertrande s actions as a double game. The point of view in every work of literature can be different. An author uses the point of view to stress one aspect of a story or a novel to make it more meaningful. The point of view in this short story is crucial in understanding the phycological standpoint of the main character. The author s decision to make this story in first person allows for the reader to really get inside the character s head. If the story was not written in first person then it would be much harder for the reader to understand the true feelings of the character. For instance, the regret the narrator felt for the way she raised Emily would not be as evident and sincere if the author just wrote, The mother really felt bad for the way she raised Emily. Another significant purpose of writing this story in first person is because it allows the narrator to express her own thoughts and feelings. The bound feet are also thought to have shown social class if a family could bind the feet of a member of their family, hence they did need that person to work, it showed a greater social status. From this book s perspective, it was a duty a daughter could perform in order to secure a prosperous marriage, thereby providing financial security for her family and herself. Men desired these golden lotus feet and so women made the physical sacrifice to show their virtue and dedication to being a virtuous wife. At one point in the book, Lily and Snow Flower must flee from rebel warriors and hike up a snowy mountain, granted this is a fictitious story but the foot binding did not cause these women to be immobile. The women in the story experienced horrific pain during this trek until the snow helped numb their feet, but I imagine that anyone that had experienced the five to seven years it took to bind their feet and then learned to perform daily task on those feet could carry them a long while if they wanted to escape their marriages. It s based on a hierarchy of what one has and of inequalities, in addition to beliefs represented with in that society. Social inequalities stem from what a group of people believes to make themselves different from others and set apart. These inequalities give certain people more power than others, while setting them off as being unequal s. The norm with in our society is heterosexuality, being attracted to the opposite sex, however, for some this may not be their preference. Sexual orientation can also be seen as homosexual, bisexual and asexual also known as the lesbian, gay and bisexual community, (LGB). • 41. Atrocities of the Holocaust Essay Of all the examples of injustice against humanity in history, the Jewish Holocaust is one of the most prominent. From 1933 to 1945, the Nazis waged a vicious war against Jews and other lesser races . This war came to a head with the Final Solution in 1938. One of the most horrific results of the Final Solution were the scores of concentration and death camps spread across Nazi Germany, Poland, and other parts of Nazi controlled Europe. In the aftermath of the Holocaust, people around the world were shocked by final tallies of human losses, and the people responsible were punished for their inhuman acts. The Holocaust was a dark time in the history of the world. The beginnings of the Holocaust can be traced as far back as 1933, when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the first major act of violence against Jews in Germany. The Nazi s intentions were now clear. Nazi plans for the Jews of Europe were outlined in the Final Solution to the Jewish question in 1938. In a meeting of some of Hitler s top officials, the idea of the complete annihilation of Jews in Europe was hatched. By the time the meeting was over, the Final Solution had been created. The plans included in the Final Solution included the deportation, exploitation, and eventual extermination of European Jews. In September 1939, Germany invaded western Poland. Most, if not all Jews in German occupied lands were rounded up and taken either to ghettos or to concentration camps. The ghettos, which were located inside cities, were a sort of city/prison to segregate Jews from the rest of the public. Conditions in ghettos were horrific. Jews were subject too mass overcrowding, lack of food, and lack of sanitation, as well as brutality by Nazi guards. By June 1941, most of the Jews in Europe lived in lands controlled by Nazi Germany. The SS deployed 3000 death squads, or Einsatzgruppen , to dispatch Jews in large numbers (Wallechinsky). In September 1941, all Jews were forced to wear yellow Stars of David on their arms ... What is the primary function of connective tissue? The connective tissue s primary function is to join bodily structures like bones and muscles to each other or to hold tissues in their correct places in the body. B. What can the shape of the cells in a particular type of tissue tell about the function of that tissue? The shape of the cells in a particular tissue can tell us the function of that particular tissue based on how it can move or communicate with other parts of the body. For example, a neuron can carry electrical messages from the brain to other parts of the body because these cells are long and thin, making them mobile. C. What is matrix? Why do some tissues have more matrix than others? The matrix is the extracellular fibers and ground substance of a connective tissue. Some tissues have more matrix because the cells and fibers are not as tightly packed. D. What do collagen fibers provide? Collagen is strong and flexible and resists force in one direction. It is stronger than steel when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. H. J Mccloskey s Article On Being An Atheist H. J. McCloskey, an atheist author, wrote an article titled On Being an Atheist which explains why he is an atheist, his views on God, and why He believes that being an atheist is more comfortable and reasonable than believing in Christianity. While arguing against the proofs within the cosmological argument and teleological argument, McCloskey does not acknowledge the ontological argument. He then goes on to say how belief in Godis not necessary and living by faith is irrational. My goal of this paper is to examine his article, point out the flaws, and prove that his arguments do not prove atheism to be true. McCloskey refers to proofs as an argument that favors God but cannot make a case for God. He then goes on to argue that those proofs should not be used and discarded. Dr. Foreman, however, suggested the accumulative case approach, which tells us to collect the proofs and evidence that says God, in fact, exists. One main reason that we cannot be one hundred percent sure when we say that God exists is the possibility of us being wrong. On one hand, Dr. Foreman argues that things that take place around us are evidence of God. However, McCloskey says that the case for God cannot be proved through Christianity. In response to McCloskey, we believe in many things that are unseen but have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These arguments both refer to a creator of some sort whether that is God or another outside force. The teleological argument, however, suggests that there is purpose within the order of the universe. McCloskey believes that both arguments, the cosmological and teleological arguments, cannot prove that God is the ultimate designer. He also claims that there is not enough, if any, proof of a designer. To counter his argument, I would argue that there is not enough proof to prove that there is not a creator however, not one side can be absolutely sure that they are completely ... • 44. Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Essay Earned Income Tax Credit Evaluation Meyer (2010) states that since the birth of the EITC in 1975 it has grown dramatically in size and is now the largest antipoverty program for the non aged in the United States. Meyer (2010) continues that in 2007, 25 million families received EITC payments totaling $49.7 billion. Meyer (2010) avers that as a result, the EITC lifted at least 4.0 million individuals above the poverty line. Meyer (2010) further continues to explain that in addition to directly raising incomes, the EITC has sharply changed work incentives, currently increasing the after‐taxwage by up to 45% for those with low earnings. The EITC overall is part of the tax system and does not necessitate individuals to have a tax liability that the credit offsets. Meyer (2010) maintains that a person without a net tax liability receives it as a payment that, by 2009, could be as large as $5,657. The objective of the EITC has been to move earnings while stimulating employment. This characteristic paved the way for political support for its early acceptance and for its following development. The agenda has undertaken more distinction in recent years as policy makers have sought to decrease the reliance that they assert has been promoted by welfare programs. It s well known that elevated and unrelenting poverty is excessively found in rural areas, with isolated rural areas experiencing the utmost poverty. • 46. Similarities And Differences Between Acidosis And Alkalosis Differences between Acidosis and Alkalosis Acidosis is when the pH of one s blood is below the normal level of 7.35. Alkalosis is when the pH of one s blood is above 7.45. These can be broken down into two categories respiratory and metabolic. Normal oxygen (CO2) levels are 35 45 mmHg in systemic arterial blood. Normal levels for HCO3в€’ 22 26mEq/liter in systemic arterial blood. Respiratory Acidosis occurs when the lungs cannot remove all the carbon dioxide that the body makes. In turn this makes fluid in the body become too acidic. The distinctive feature of respiratory acidosis is an abnormally high PCO2, meaning above 45 mmHg. Improper exhalation of oxygen can cause the blood pH to drop. Any condition that decreases the movement of CO2 from the blood to the alveoli of the lungs to the atmosphere causes a buildup of CO2, H2CO3, and H+ (Tortora, 2014, p.1036) . Symptoms of this condition may include: confusion, lethargy, fatigue, sleepiness, and shortness of breath. Probable causes are: obesity, disease of the chest, diseases of the lungs and airways, and drugs that suppress breathing (MedlinePLus, 2012). A health care provider will perform a physical exam to see if this is what is happening. He may do so by: arterial blood gas which measures oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood, basic metabolic panel, a chest x ray, or possibly a pulmonary function test (MedlinePLus, 2012). Treatment is mainly aimed at the underlying cause not at condition itself. It is treated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Theme Of Comradery In All Quiet On The Western Front The psychologist Sigmund Freud once said, Because every man has a right over his own life and war destroys lives that were full of promise; it forces the individual into situations that shame his manhood, obliging him to murder fellow men, against his will. He initially stated this when he was corresponding with Albert Einstein via letter. This quote is also a great explanation of the events that take place during war that people chose to not recognise. War is terrible, and no matter how hard we try, nothing will change that. Erich Maria Remarqueshows us that soldiers have endured dreadfully throughout World War I in his book All Quiet on the Western Front. The character in the book, Paul Baumer, endures through the tragedies of war with some of his old schoolmates as well as new comrades that he meets along the way. They survive through all of the tragedies together, but in the end, the war made them lose their friendships as well as their lives. The reality is that war comes with consequences while it destroys people, and there is nothing that will ever be able to change that. The book All Quiet on the Western Front shows how war comes destroys people s lives with its consequences through three of its themes: the importance of comradery, the loss of innocence, and the horrors and brutality of war. Comradery proved to be a great importance to all of the soldiers throughout the war. Whenever somebody would get into a troublesome time, there was always another soldier ... • 48. Mexican Drug War Essay The Mexican Drug War By: Blake Cohen INR2002 Spring 2013 Jeff Hernden Word Count: 3800 Date: 4/22/13 In 2006, Mexico began to crack down on drug trafficking operations in union with the United States. Why all of the sudden? In regard to that question, my paper will include a history of events leading up to this sudden crack down on drug trafficking, from its start in the 1960 s until today. After the history of the drug war, I will discuss the main states involved like the United States and Mexico itself. Along with their main goal of eliminating drug trafficking all together, although it is a very high expectation. In February 2011 the United States began sending unarmed drones to collect information on drug traffickers. Later in August, the United States started in cross border raids, sending CIA operatives and older military personnel to aid the Mexican military. In addition to assisting Mexico, the United States increased security on our side and spends approximately $3 billion on securing the border. Decriminalization is a highly disputed policy option, in November of 2012 two states in the United States passed laws for the legalization of recreational use of marijuana. However, it is still a United States federal law that marijuana is illegal. Although decriminalization would lead to less incarcerations, it would put more drugs in the hands of users and increase drug exporting from Mexico. A prime strategy that both the United States and Mexico have been using is to take out the high value individuals or foot soldiers . This takes out the mass exporters but still leaves the middle and lower class drug traffickers. Which then the middle class moves up and takes over for whatever high value cartel that was just taken out. • 49. The Pros And Cons Of Restraint Restraints limit a patient s movement. This brings up many ethical debates and issues. There are certain guidelines that should be followed when it comes to using restraints. It is important to know the different kinds of restraints, how to apply a physical restraint properly and how to administer a chemical restraint safely. It is important to consider alternatives as the use of restraints can present risk and negative outcomes. History of Restraints Restraints were incorporated into health care many decades ago. In the late 1970s, more than 25% of U.S residents in long term care facilities were restrained compared to a current average of 5% (Taylor, Lillis, Lynn, 2015, p. 707). Since 1987, the federal government and accrediting agencies have worked to reduce or eliminate the use of restraints (Taylor et al. 2015, p. 708). Also according to Taylor, Lillis, and Lynn (2015) a Safety Alert from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995 informed nurses and other members of the health care team the risks of using side rails, especially when all four side rails are up. Different Types of Restraints There are three categories of restraints. The three categories are physical, chemical, and seclusion. According to Springer (2015), a physical restraint is a device that keeps the patient from moving freely or from the patient harming themselves or other people nearby. Chemical restraints are drugs that are administered that do the same thing a physical restraint does. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
