Major League Baseball Salary
Major League Baseball Salary
1/C Morris, 2/C Morris and 2/C Turner
Major League Baseball players average just over four million a year making it the second highest
paying sport. Players determine win loss records which drives ticket sales which creates revenue and
so on. This is why player salaries is one of the most critical aspects of running a MLB team. These
salaries are negotiated using statistics such as batting average, on base percentage, hits and more.
When negotiations are not working, an arbitration process is used which is unique to the MLB.
Within Major League Baseball there are two trade deadlines. The first is July 31 (or August 1 for leap
years) and the second is August 31. Before the July deadline, teams face no penalties or additional fees
in trading. However, after July 31 and before August 31 trades can take place with waivers and
additional fees. While this discourages trades after the July 31 deadline, if a player is truly desired by a
team, especially in the upcoming postseason, no barrier will prevent a team from acquiring that player.
After the world series free agents are free to move from team to team. For roughly five days teams
will try and negotiate a new contract with their expiring players. Most of the time this works but if a
contract cannot be reached salary arbitration is used. Both the player and the team will present a
proposal salary to the arbitrators who then select the proposal they believe to be the fairest. Arbitration
is rare

Yuan Zhao Daoism
Yuan Zhao was a Daoist healer in ancient China [471 99] who used his knowledge of the five phases
to diagnose and cure a young girl of evil demons that had made her sick after numerous other Chinese
healers were unable to even understand the source of her afflictions, which is meant to spread Daoism
as much as tell a story. The story is a good example of ancient Chinese medical practices but to fully
understand how the different elements of his story fit together it is helpful to have information on the
five phases. The story begins with the young girl and her military family coming to the Daoist healer
with an affliction that had confused other healers for several years. Yuan Zhao diagnoses her as being
possessed by a demonic painting from

Sky Cathedral Presence
Survey of World Art
By
Vyacheslav Borts
The sculptress Louise Nevelson was a towering figure of American modernism. Born in 1899, she
came to prominence in the late 50s, gaining renown for monochromatic structures built out of
discarded wood. Critic Arthur C. Danto wrote, There could be no better word for how Nevelson
composed her work than bricolage a French term that means making do with what is at hand. (Danto
2007) Her pieces evolved and expanded in size across the latter 20th century, moving from smaller
pieces to wall sized ones, and the plays of volume therein, between light and mass, generated
comparisons to numerous different movements. The following paper will examine these ... Show more

The poignancy of this girl s untimely death and the instant of life the Grave Stele captures are both
magnified by the weight and constancy of the marble. By contrast, Nevelson achieves something like
suppleness in Sky Cathedral by her use of multiple layers and multiple new spaces that emerge from
different vantage points. From the Attic Greek to the Augustan age brings one to the Imperial
Procession, located on the North frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae (Fig. 4). The first two sculptures put
into conversation with Sky Cathedral were mortuary, but the Imperial Procession is celebratory. The
first two are both smaller than four feet, but the Procession is life sized, so its visual force is thus
magnified. Finally, the individuals therein are not idealized types, in contrast to earlier Greek modes
of statuary they naturalistic depictions of many actual people in the line of the Caesars. The Ara Pacis
took four years to build, due to its desired scale and quality, and that scale points to a salient evolution
from the Greeks to the Romans. Riegl claimed this vector went from what he call[ed] the haptic
objectivism of the Greeks the delineation of the clarity of the object through an appeal to and a
stimulation of the tactile associations of the viewer to the optical objectivism of Roman art, in which
the need to set the figure up in space as radically

Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn’s Disease Essay
Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn s Disease Crohn s disease is a form of inflammatory
bowel disease (IBD) that could occur anywhere from the mouth to the rectum. However, it usually
affects the intestines (Longstreth, 2010). Like many illnesses, there is no cure for Crohn s as the exact
cause of it is unknown. There are a number of tests and procedures available that aide in making the
diagnosis of Crohn s disease. Stool cultures and blood work can suggest IBD but may not directly
indicate the disease. Barium enemas, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI) are useful exams but the preferred method involves scoping via endoscopy. Endoscopy allows

esophagus, stomach and small bowel to a receiver worn by the patient. The capsule takes two pictures
per second, for a total of approximately 55,000 images (para. 12). After the specified time frame, the
patient returns to the office for removal of the data recorder. The capsule should normally pass
through the colon and be eliminated with a normal bowel movement. With traditional endoscopy, a
physician is required to perform and interpret the examination. However, capsule endoscopy can be
administered by any trained staff, downloaded and then read and analyzed by the physician. According
to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy:
Capsule endoscopy helps your doctor evaluate the small intestine. This part of the bowel cannot be
reached by traditional upper endoscopy or by colonoscopy. The most common reason for doing
capsule endoscopy is to search for a cause of bleeding from the small intestine. It may also be useful
for detecting polyps, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn s disease), ulcers, and tumors of the small
intestine. (para. 3)
Wireless video capsule endoscopy allows a physician to see his regular clinic patients without
blocking the day to perform procedures. It also allows the patients to arrive at the office early in the
day to complete ingestion

The Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem
Tropical rainforests contains the most diverse ecosystems of any biome, containing over half of the
world s flora and fauna species despite only covering less than 6% of the earth s surface. Ecosystems
have flourished here because of plentiful rainfall (over 100mm per year) a humid but consistent
temperature (http://www.blue planetbiomes.org/rainforest.htm). All this combines to something of a
nightmare to live in, especially for someone who has never experienced it before.
So whether your plane has crash landed into the Amazon or you were stupid enough to follow iMaps
when you told it to take you to the local McDonalds, this guide will instruct you to survive in a
tropical rainforest.
Water
You might think this one is easy, you re carrying a drink bottle with you! But that bottle isn t going to
last more than two days in this humid environment, and you re not going to make it out in that time.
Tropical Rainforests contain water sources that can be found in the form of streams or lakes or even
tiny water vines. One tip into finding a lake or stream is look for a place where shorter, fern plants
flourish, and not much tall trees are found. If a water source cannot be found, rainwater is more than
enough to keep you alive. Remember before consuming any water, to boil it over a fire (see Fire ) so
that any bacteria is killed off. (http://news.discovery.com /adventure/survival/top ways to purify water

Compare And Contrast The Hero Journey In The Count Of...
Hero Journey Comparison Contrast Essay A hero is often thought as someone who saves lives and
does admirable acts. This is not always the case as we see in The Count of Monte Cristo, where
Edmond Dantes is wrongly accused of a crime and sent to imprisonment for life. He is stripped of his
freedom and all he owns and rises to the top with only a goal in mind that he keeps dear to his heart.
In The Alchemist, Santiago seeks to find treasure and on his journey, he finds his true love. This is
very similar to The Odyssey when Odysseus is on the desperate search for treasure and finds that what
he really wants is his wife and his home life. As the reader travels with these heroes through their
personal journeys, the reader can start to notice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

quest on finding his treasure can also closely relate to The Count of Monte Cristo. Edmond is seeking

Regina s Flour Shoppe
This rustic pie takes all the great qualities from a regular pie: A browned pastry crust plus a gooey fruit
filling minus all the fuss thanks to it s free form style.
The filling is forgiving as you can use whatever is local and in season or head to the frozen section and
take your pick of frozen fruits (there is a grocer near me that stocks frozen cloudberries and local sour
cherries what a treat!), so choose your flavor, roll out the pastry which takes some muscle, but be
patient and it will work with you.
This galette is inspired by Kimberley Phaneuf of Regina s Flour Shoppe, from the newly printed

Pulse a few times, just until the dough comes together, adding more water only if it appears dry.
On a lightly floured surface, gently knead the dough three to four times, then pat it into a disc (or two,
if making smaller galettes) and wrap in plastic. Let it rest and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2
hours (or up to 24) before rolling.
When you re ready to roll out the galette, remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room
temperature until slightly softened, about 10 15 minutes.
Dust the countertop with flour and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough out in a
circular shape to about ¼ inch (6mm) thick. Don t worry if it looks a little wonky. It s rustic! Once
rolled, transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
To make the filling, add the sugar, cornstarch, lemon zest, and thyme to a large bowl and mix together.
Add the fruit and stir to combine.
Pour the fruit mixture onto the centre of the prepared crust, leaving a 2 ½ inch (6 1/2 cm) border
around the edge. Fold the edges of the crust over the fruit toward the centre this will keep your filling
contained. Chill in the refrigerator for 20 30

Compare And Contrast Islam And Christianity
The religions of Islam and Christianity have been widespread influencers throughout history. Both
religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include worshipping
only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of commandments,
believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their differences include
having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam has also given many
contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and philosophy. One of Islam
and Christianity s similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths are monotheistic However,
their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In Christianity, god is represented
through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that Christians were to worship Father and
Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should only worship God. Finally, it taught that
there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of
god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His
being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc (Why Islam 1). In both Christianity and Islam, they
revere the same early prophets. Some of these prophets include Abraham, Moses, and John the
Baptist. Both religions consider Jesus as a prophet as well, but Jesus role in the

Theories And Research Of Educational Psychology
Select one area of applied psychology in this module. Discuss how theory and research in this area has
been helpful or unhelpful in addressing human problems.
Educational psychology has produced a vast array of theory and research that can be applied to
educational settings to address problems that may occur. This essay will discuss how helpful, or not so
helpful, research and theory has been in dealing with problems found in schools such as morality and
understanding how children learn in order to create a rounded curriculum.
Piaget was the first to create a systematic study of cognitive development, and although he did not
specifically relate his theory to education others have gone on to do so. This has had many
implications in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is support for this idea as according to Piaget practice on a task that you are not biologically
ready for should not improve performance until sufficiently mature. Research supports this argument
as it has been found that children aged 10 and 13 did not improve on formal operational tasks when
tutored, but 17 years olds did (Danner Day, 1977) as Piaget s theory would expect. Therefore, the
concept of readiness may be helpful in understanding why children may not show improvement on
challenging tasks even with tutoring. If this is the case then teachers should revise the material they
are teaching to make sure their age group is biologically ready to interpret the material.
On the other hand, there is research that also contradicts the idea that a child has to be biologically
ready to be able to learn something. Bryant and Trabasso (1971) showed that children in the pre
operational stage could be trained to solve some logical tasks which, according to Piaget s theory they
should not be able to do. Instead, they argued that children s failure was due to memory restrictions
and not an absence of logical thinking that appears in the operational stage. They showed that when
given suitable training 4 year olds showed good performance on these tasks. They then suggested that
it is practice and not readiness that matters when children are learning new

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: To prove that the United States should withdraw from the United
Nations
The time has come to recognize the U.N. for the anti American, anti freedom organization that it has
become. The time has come for us to cut off all financial help, withdraw as a member, and ask the
U.N. to find a headquarters location outside the United States that is more in keeping with the
philosophy of the majority of voting members, someplace like Moscow or Peking (Rousos, par. 30).
Those are the words of Barry Goldwater, the late 1964 presidential candidate and Republican Senator
from Arizona, calling for US withdrawal from the United Nations, and these concerns are as valid
today as they were almost four decades ago, if not more so. Since its inception, the United Nation s

Ecclesiastes One Night Analysis
I stumbled upon this chapter in Ecclesiastes one night and as I read it, it was explaining to me exactly
how I felt that moment when I had opened my bible. I had been in a busy season of life, and at the end
of every day, I was consistently finding myself overwhelmed and stressed, and every night I would
think about how life is always going to be stressful, maybe expressed differently and hidden in
different aspects of life, but nevertheless, stressful. Many times when I find myself stressed, my
perspective is taken off of God and placed on my circumstance, which causes me to not tolerate stress
well.

often I find that I ve lost myself in a crazy routine of trying to stay on top of things, failing always. It
is only ever necessary to strive hard after God. He will fit in everything else that He finds fitting for

The Leader s Companion By Gardner
It was Thursday, August 25, at eight in the morning when I walked into my second leadership class
ever. The first class was just reviewing the syllabus so to me this was the real first class . We discussed
The Leader s Companion by Gardner and how there is currently a cry for leadership. I heard that there
was a need for leaders at all levels and that can be achieved by studying leadership. After hearing that
I understood there was a problem, I wanted to be the adequate leader the world needed and I first

learned a lot about myself, group interactions, and my leadership identity, which all come together to
enhance my understanding and appreciation of leadership itself.
In order to lead others, you first need an understanding of yourself, your values, and your beliefs. In
How to Live With Purpose, Identify Your Values and Improve Your Leadership, Anne Loehr, said that
values are what is important to us and what gives us purpose. These reflect who we are in everything
we do. By aligning our values, we have more energy and are fulfilled as opposed to the demotivated
and unauthentic characteristics of our actions that are not aligned with our values. In order to put
values into action, one must review their values prior to making a decision and decide if they outcome
of their decision aligns with their values. Additionally, one should remind themselves of their values to

Descriptive Essay On A Day At The Beach
Traveling the distance for a day of no school, work and responsibilities for a quick getaway, is the
medication to a happy lifestyle. So we set off a trip to a destination that is worry free. The long car
ride is spent singing to our favorite throwback songs and arguing about the dumbest of things, like
who ate the last slice of pizza the night before or maybe even who left the seat up last. All of which
are moments worth a chuckle. When we finally arrive at the wonderful place, the first breath of fresh
air is taken as the door to our white suburban is opened and we come into contact with the grounds of
Pismo Beach. With the help of the seven individuals that poured out of the cramped car; we start to
unpack the trunk with gadgets that are needed for the day to begin. Ice chests, sand buckets, shovels,
foldable chairs, towels and a radio, all come along with us in our journey for a day at the beach.
Immediately it is noticed that there is a drastic change in temperatures as it dropped a couple degrees
from how it felt back home. The breeze here fills my skin with goosebumps that the short hairs on my
arms stand up as it is too cold for normalcy. The wind also elevates the grainy sand to reach the height
of my head, and the particles become a part of my tangled brunette hair, where later it will almost
become impossible to get every single sand bit out of the barkish stands. Heading down to the
oceanside, we choose a section to set up. Towels are thrown on the surface of the beach. Sandwiches
are in the factory of Momma s kitchen being prepared for the hungry stomachs of my siblings and I.
After filling out human gas tanks, it s time to get a feel of the finest, Pismo Beach. Buckets are filled
with sand because it is time to build unstable castles and mansions that is a representation of our ideal
home when we grow up. My dad will think it s cool acting like the hulk, stomping around our
masterpiece and burning it down to the core, smooshing together the damp sand, with the only thing
left is the stamp of his size thirteen foot. And us. rolling in the sand laughing at the character he played
so carelessly. The scene he created, the laugh we felt in our stomachs, are all just part of why we love

A Psychoanalysis of The Anal Stage of Development effects in The Summoner s Tale .
Can one s experiences as a toddler affect their personalities later on in life? According to the Freudian
psychosexual stages of development this reigns true. The Anal stage of development plays a huge role
in defining why multiple characters like; John the Friar, Wife of Thomas act, Thomas, and the
Landlord s Wife act the way that they do within the tale. The characters within the tale display either
an anal expulsive personality or, an anal retentive personality, that personality is explained by their

High Cost Of Higher Education
Many students will soon drop out of college due to the constantly rising cost of higher education.
Research shows that both the two year and four year education system in the U.S. has experienced a
significant increase in college tuition over the last three decades. If this trend is allowed to go on
unchallenged, the likelihood of most students being unable to meet the high cost will be very high in
the coming years as there are already notable signs of this happening. According to education expert
Philips Elliot from the Christian Science Monitor (2013), the tuition cost for students attending the
public two year schools went up by 6% in 2012. This pushed the total cost of attending this program
to nearly $10,000 per year. This rise is estimated to have been 24% over the overall inflation rate. The
same case was replicated in the four year category where the cost of tuition went up by 9%, bringing
the total cost for this program to nearly $27,000 per year. The same costs were witnessed in the private
learning institutions where the cost of attending college went up by an average of 14%. This brought
the total cost to $42,000. The costs were even higher for students who chose to attend college outside
their home states. The official records show that students in this category paid more than $31,000 to
complete a four year program signifying an 11% increase (Elliot, 2013). Stakeholders from the
education sector have given various reasons to justify this increase.

Influence Of American Culture On Consumers
In my opinion, I feel that consumers can get too much of a product. American culture of consumerism
appears to be quite addictive. Shopping can become a drug for some. For example, with every new

In the book Neuromancer by William Gibson, the technology and violence shown by the people and

letting our technologies evolve too fast until we depend on technology too much for bettering our lives

Homer Cummings And Alcatraz Research Paper
What would be strong enough, safe enough, and suitable for such terrible humans, is what people
asked themselves for years, until Alcatraz. In 1934, the Rock was functioning and welcoming some of
the worst criminals alive. The man behind the plan was none other than Homer C. Cummings. Why?,
alcohol. A law was passed in the 1920s that was prohibiting liquor due to so many innocent yet drunk
people putting others in danger. However, that didn t stop anybody. Gangsters saw a new way to make
money, illegally selling alcohol. How d they do it? They would either make their own or smuggled it
from other countries. Would you buy booze from them, no you probably wouldn t. More likely so, you

Last of all, guards. What s any prison without guards. Since the guards would be out all day everyday
on the island, a school, a church, and homes were built for their families. Everything was intact. Time
for the prisoners. Who came, you may ask. Some of the mightiest criminals alive. Try Al Capone; the
most powerful criminal in the world who was responsible for more than 1,000 deaths of politicians,
policemen, and other gangsters. He killed anyone who got in his way, even if they were his own men.
This guy may ring a bell, Robert Stroud aka The Birdman; stabbing guards and killing innocent
people, he was sent to prison for life. In that time, he had already wrote two books about birds and
lived in a cell filled with feathered creatures. How d these men react, different. The first few years of

He drove him so nuts that when he was freed in 1939, he died a few years later. He wasn t the only

The Democratic Government Of Canada
Summary
The Liberal Government of Canada has promised the implementation of a new electoral system within
the next 18 months according to the second chapter of the document Real Change: A New Plan for a
Strong Middle Class. The document seeks to affirm that the 2015 election will be the last federal
election held under the first past the post electoral system and that many reform options will be
thoroughly explored to replace it. Proportional representation (PR) systems appears to be the most
beneficial and logical alternatives to our current system. However, there is variety of different forms
of proportional representation and this paper will seek to explain why Single Transferable Vote is the
most viable proportional representation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regionalism allows for some voters to have more power with their votes, particularly Ontario and
Quebec over other provinces thus furthering regional tension and divide.
Voters in areas with a lesser impact on the Election outcome may feel a sense of voter apathy and will
be less likely to engage with political discourse.
Potentially wasted ballots on small fringe parties with no chance of winning or in electoral districts
with a strong partisan leaning.
Parties that have a diffuse national support may be underrepresented in House of Commons, The New
Democratic Party and in some historical instances the Conservative Party have been negatively
impacted by this.
The inverse of the prior problem occurs as well, parties with a concentrated regional support become
over represented in the House of Commons; The Bloc Quebecois have traditionally been an example
of this.
Strategic voting may occur to ensure a party is removed from power, voters will vote for an opposing
party with a good chance of winning versus a party with lesser support but whose platform they agree
with.
On Election Day a winner can be determined before polls across Canada close, once the Maritimes,
Quebec and Ontario are counted, a winner can be determined before the polls close out West.

Comparing Victor Frankenstein And The Creature In Mary...
Though Victor Frankenstein thinks fundamentally in terms of who belongs to whom , he and the
Creature share a strange bond that goes beyond the bounds of mere possession. Frankenstein clearly
ignores his mutual obligations and promises, especially towards the Creature, creating a relationship
between the two that is composed entirely of power struggles rather than any form of mutuality. In
addition to this, as one who thinks about social organization in terms of sheer power, Frankenstein
extends this master slave relationship to nature itself in short, he treats nature the same as he treats his
unnatural Creation.
Though Frankenstein clearly does not love the Creature, he does seem inseparable from him: there are

without sex. This is yet another way in which he is attempting to exert some form of control Victor is
thinking, again, in terms of possession and sees nature (like the Creature) as something to control and
defeat. He seems always to be searching for the inherent power in things the first time he witnesses
lightning he watches its progress with curiosity and delight because he has never beheld anything so
utterly destroyed [as the ruined tree] . Once he is taught of electricity, the cause of this force, the
knowledge [throws] greatly into the shade Cornelius Agrippa...the lord of [Frankenstein s] imagination

deformed and abortive creation . In other words, he seems to lose interest in science as soon as he is
shown that the way to understand natural phenomena is not through secrets or magic powers; that the
way to understanding cannot be reached through exertion of force or power. It seems that Frankenstein
is deeply afraid of what he cannot control, and not just nature: contemplating the Creature (a being
requiring love and mutuality) he muses a new species would bless me as its creator and source; many
happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his

The Intelligence Cycle
Intelligence is the result of a process or a cycle as identified by the intelligence community. This cycle
involves five or six steps based on the agency s needs. These steps include planning and direction,
collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. Planning and direction step it is an important part
of the process because the essential elements of the intelligence cycle are identified especially the
collection requirements. To produce an intelligence product the information collected from the
multitude of sources available to analysts or the collections assets must be analyzed and must be
disseminated to the consumers of intelligence, so they can make the decisions. There are many types
of sources important to intelligence analyst and these are only some of them: HUMINT, SIGINT,

Health Systems Are Not An Open Society
Today not everyone has equal opportunities and access to health care. Not everyone is respected the
same due to their physical features: skin color, texture of hair, and body type. An open society helps
individuals to respect for diversity, to promote inclusion, to support for national and global initiatives
dedicated to eliminating disparities, and to create open, healthy societies. In order to be an open
society, one must have an open mind of co workers and patients and self discipline to laws.
An open society is considered to be utopia (Nyswander, 1985). Health systems are not an open society,
but are always working to improve and striving to become an open society. In an open society,
workers respects their coworkers and patients, future laws, and abide the rules. Workers in an open
society are all free men , who are self disciplined, respect for rational order, and accept conformity to
laws for the general good, and trust others (Nyswander, 1985). Free men know how to work with
workers efficiently by communicating.
As individuals, we have to promote inclusion. In an open society, people need to always brainstorm
new goals to help the system to improve. Goals are mainly accomplished when everyone works
together comfortably. In some type of way, everyone should be included in the task such as, coming
up of goals or ways to accomplish the goal or being a part of the goal to help accomplish it. By having
everyone work together, it will create a positive

Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
The Desire s Breakdown
Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire is a web of themes, complicated scenarios, and clashes
between the characters. Therefore, it might ve been somehow difficult to find out who the protagonist
of this play is if it wasn t for Aristotle s ideas of a good tragedy because neither of the main characters,
Stanley Kowalski and Blanche Dubois, is completely good nor bad. According to Aristotle s Poetics, a
good tragedy requires the protagonist to undergo a change of status which only happens with Blanche
Dubois.
From my point of view the protagonist of A Streetcar Named Desire is Blanche Dubois. Blanche is a
woman who was born and raised in the plantations in Mississippi. She s about 30 years old. She is an
English teacher who got fired for having an affair with a 17 year old student. She goes to New Orleans
in 1947 to stay with her sister, Stella, and her sister s husband Stanley Kowalski.
In this play Blanche has a praxis: She must get a companion to share her life with who can provide her
with shelter, food, and financial support and that s what makes the whole story happen. This praxis is
created when two things happen: First, Blanche finding out that the man she married was having an
affair with another man and he decided to shoot himself after she confronted him, and second, the loss
of her house in Mississippi. These two things create her need of a shelter, financial support and food
therefore she decides to stay with her sister Stella.

Effective And Efficient Use Of Investment Tax Incentives
Executive Summary
It has been observed from past experiences that there is ample room for effective and efficient use of
investment tax incentives in Australia. It was found that tax incentives are does not make much impact
on changing the investment climate and many times tax incentives turned out to be redundant that is,
investment would have been undertaken even without the incentives. The fiscal cost of tax incentives
can be high, reducing opportunities for other required spending like on infrastructure, education and
health care or any other sector.
Effective and efficient use of tax incentives for small businesses requires careful tax designed. Many
times government use income tax exemptions to attract investment or persuade for joint ventures to
attract investments. Good infrastructure, long term effective policies, economic stability etc. are
important for bringing investment. There is a need of have correct taxation policy to really have a
great impact on domestic small business.
Good governance of tax incentives is critical for small business growth. Transparency is necessity of
time to facilitate accountability, providing opportunities for opening business or for extracting
information for rent seekers and to curtail corruption. There are many stakeholders involved in the tax
incentive proposal approval but the best in the ministry of finance that enforced and monitored by the
tax administration. To grant tax incentives it should be based on rules rather than

Beethoven s string quartet Op.59 No. 3 where in the system two, a fast, rhythmically and harmonically
dense melody is played and suddenly in the end of system 2 (measure 6) the first violin has a measure
long segmented high violin solo. The sudden change in harmonic rhythm and density make this
measure eye catching already but the fact that it is in an extremely high register makes it more jarring
and immediately transiting into a more melodious section, which leads to theme II in the expository
section. Comparing it to the first movement of Beethoven s String Quartet in F major Op. 18 No. 1

conversation between the first and second violins. However, these phrases are still connected unlike in
the heroic style many phrases like this are separated and the accents on the rhythm are very different.
Another habit of Beethoven when composing his pieces in the heroic style would be to insert warlike
themes and motifs into his pieces. Some of these themes include death and victory. Loh 4

The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has such a
bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce that movement? I don t believe that is a
realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred years ago,
reducing that flow now would be near impossible.
International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead, focus

One problem a policy like this will face is trying to globally enforce a standard of quality with
countries that are not cooperative. Refusing to receive shipments that do not pass that standard is an
option. Moreover, a better quality of life globally will help as well.
The global community can t expect products to have been properly grown without bad pesticides and
grown absorbing good water from countries that have a water quality issue. If the water issue for these
countries isn t fixed, then their products become contaminated. Helping the countries come up to
standards first could ease the process of them implementing and adhering to strict global standards of

Urban Poverty in China
Over the past two decades, China has experienced rapid economic growth, which has also brought
about a rise in social and economic inequality. A nation that once operated under the principle of
egalitarianism, China now struggles with a level of inequality that has surpassed most of its East Asia
neighbours. In the 1980 s, poverty was a problem restricted mainly to rural areas, but recently it has
forayed into urban areas as well. Since the mid 1990 s, urban poverty has grown at a very fast pace
under the influence of globalization (Fulong, Webster, and Yuting 5). The economic restructuring of
China is a huge contributor to this phenomenon. The Chinese government officially recognized urban
poverty as a problem in 2001 through a report ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earliest of these attempts was by expanding higher education, which succeeded in matriculation,
but did not provide sufficient stimulus towards consumption as families opted to save for higher
education. The attempt to commercialize the housing market also ended up in a similar scenario, as
families opted to increase their savings in order to afford the higher prices charged for apartments
(Riskin and Qin 25). The urban poverty problem arises from the disparity between lack of income
growth and massive growth in social wealth (Fulong, Webster, and Yuting 37). In order to remedy this
problem, the government should not develop policies targeting only the poor; instead, it should ensure
that there exists a resource framework that is not only adequate for rich and middle class needs, but
one that is accessible to everyone. A strategic readjustment that ensures commensurate growth in both
social and economic wealth would be highly beneficial to the people (Wanlong and Wong 26). The
growth of incomes for residents should be strengthened and should also be accompanied by reforms in
state owned corporations.
One of the ways to remedy the consumption problem is through a rise in income levels and
implementation of reforms in monopolized state owned industries to bring about income
redistribution. Income redistribution is a government role that can be attained through proper fiscal
policies like tax reforms to ensure a balanced and fair

Socrates s Influence On The Youth
Socrates claims that he could not have harmed the youth of Athens willingly, and his claim that all
desire is for the good, are interconnected with each other. For Socrates claim about his influence on
the youth to be true, the claim that everyone desires for virtuous things and not wicked, must also be
true. The Meno states that: It is clear then that those who do not know things to be bad do not desire
what is bad, but they desire those things that they believe to be good but that are in fact bad. It follows
that those who have knowledge of these things and believe them to be good clearly desire good things
(Meno 77e). The key point in the above statement is that sometimes someone does something morally
wrong with the belief that their action are upstanding. They may justify their action by their feelings
that they feel at the moment when otherwise they would know that that action is bad. This is an
acceptable point of view because Socrates never said that it has to be a true belief. As long as one has
it in their mind at the moment that the action is a justified one then they follow Socrates example. The
above quote leave the question then what happens to those that acknowledge the things that they do
are immoral? The answer there are no such people. Comparable to the eastern philosophy of karma,
Socrates proclaims that those who do bad believe that detrimental things will come back to harm them
too. That being harmed leads a person to be miserable and unhappy, and no

Rhinoplasty Case Study
Individuals who are unhappy with the shape and/or size of their nose should consider having a
rhinoplasty (nasal surgery) to address the characteristics of their nose that they would like to change. A

Douglas Adams Writing Style
A Guide to the Humorous Galaxy What would you do if your closest friend told you that he or she
was an alien and the world was about to blow up in 12 minutes? The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy
by Douglas Adams is about a man named Arthur Dent who sets off on an adventure when his good
friend, Ford Prefect, turns out to be an alien and tells him that Earth is about explode. In the novel,
Ford helps Arthur escape the destruction of Earth and together they survive in the universe as
hitchhikers, with the help of The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, Ford s universal encyclopedia.

by his diction, characterization, and applied theme. To begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Adams humorously depicts each character with his or her own distinctive personality. For instance, he
depicts Marvin the robot as depressed when Marvin says, I only have to talk to somebody and they
begin to hate me. Even robots hate me. If you ignore me I expect I shall probably go away (214). The
way in which Adams jocularly illustrates Marvin s depressed attitude makes it funny. This instance is
additionally funny because no one would expect a robot to have any emotions. Another way Adams s
characterization reveals his humorous style in this case is the fact that Marvin is so depressed he
makes witty remarks that can make one laugh. This characterization is also shown in Zaphod s attitude
when he says, If there is anything more important than my ego I want it found and shot now (98).
Adams shows Zaphod as a carefree and self centered person who can make some funny decisions.
Zaphod also is a character that makes jokes that can make the reader laugh. Arthur s confused
personality is yet another example of Adams s use of characterization. This is shown when Arthur says
I don t know if this sounds like a silly question, but what am I doing here? (54). Arthur s confused
attitude can make him ask laughably dumb questions. Also, Adams makes Arthur, shown as an
ordinary human, go on an adventure in a very extraordinary universe, which is entertaining for the
audience. Douglas Adams s humorous style is effectively revealed through his use of

Each strategy is intended as a pre teaching activity, large group or small anticipatory set, or as closure
activity in a lesson plan. These strategies are to pique young readers interests prior to intensive
teaching.
Part 2 Students that are rely on sight words lack decoding skills. Their focus is on the image of a word
and not the sounds of the individual letters create or its relationship to words. It is a dangerous
pedagogy because it creates cognitive damage such as dyslexia and ADHD (Price). The practice of
using sight words promotes lower syntactical awareness, guessing and students become word callers;
students are not comprehending what they are reading, just decoding. However, sight words serve
their purpose for words that do not follow phonic rules in emergent readers. Nonetheless, as a child

Thus, young designers will seek to profit from the support of investors to finance their growth.
Branded watches have continuously been well liked throughout the years and will still continue to be
trendy in the years to come for the reason that after consumers buy into a brand, they reap countless
benefits. With their knowledgeable purchasing routine, consumers continue to purchase in style brand
watches for five important reasons.
1. The primary goal consumers get branded watches is that they are very dependable. This is of unique
significance because they will know from their previous experience whether a brand is of quality or
not. After the watch confirms reliability, the brand will be bought often times by loyal customers. As a
result, the top quality brand watches will continually perform well.
2. The next cause boils down to a large extent of how the consumers regard the brand. There are many
assorted brands available in the marketplace these days but consumers continue to obtain only a
handful of the brands they trust and are familiar with. The reason for this is that when consumers
decide to buy a new watch, they normally purchase a brand which they highly regard.
3. These fashionable brand watches are known to be tough and this is the third reason why consumers
obtain branded watches. It is a considerable aspect to be aware of

  • 2. Major League Baseball Salary Major League Baseball Salary 1/C Morris, 2/C Morris and 2/C Turner Major League Baseball players average just over four million a year making it the second highest paying sport. Players determine win loss records which drives ticket sales which creates revenue and so on. This is why player salaries is one of the most critical aspects of running a MLB team. These salaries are negotiated using statistics such as batting average, on base percentage, hits and more. When negotiations are not working, an arbitration process is used which is unique to the MLB. Within Major League Baseball there are two trade deadlines. The first is July 31 (or August 1 for leap years) and the second is August 31. Before the July deadline, teams face no penalties or additional fees in trading. However, after July 31 and before August 31 trades can take place with waivers and additional fees. While this discourages trades after the July 31 deadline, if a player is truly desired by a team, especially in the upcoming postseason, no barrier will prevent a team from acquiring that player. After the world series free agents are free to move from team to team. For roughly five days teams will try and negotiate a new contract with their expiring players. Most of the time this works but if a contract cannot be reached salary arbitration is used. Both the player and the team will present a proposal salary to the arbitrators who then select the proposal they believe to be the fairest. Arbitration is rare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poignancy of this girl s untimely death and the instant of life the Grave Stele captures are both magnified by the weight and constancy of the marble. By contrast, Nevelson achieves something like suppleness in Sky Cathedral by her use of multiple layers and multiple new spaces that emerge from different vantage points. From the Attic Greek to the Augustan age brings one to the Imperial Procession, located on the North frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae (Fig. 4). The first two sculptures put into conversation with Sky Cathedral were mortuary, but the Imperial Procession is celebratory. The first two are both smaller than four feet, but the Procession is life sized, so its visual force is thus magnified. Finally, the individuals therein are not idealized types, in contrast to earlier Greek modes of statuary they naturalistic depictions of many actual people in the line of the Caesars. The Ara Pacis took four years to build, due to its desired scale and quality, and that scale points to a salient evolution from the Greeks to the Romans. Riegl claimed this vector went from what he call[ed] the haptic objectivism of the Greeks the delineation of the clarity of the object through an appeal to and a stimulation of the tactile associations of the viewer to the optical objectivism of Roman art, in which the need to set the figure up in space as radically ... However, it usually affects the intestines (Longstreth, 2010). Like many illnesses, there is no cure for Crohn s as the exact cause of it is unknown. There are a number of tests and procedures available that aide in making the diagnosis of Crohn s disease. Stool cultures and blood work can suggest IBD but may not directly indicate the disease. ACG reports that, once swallowed, the capsule begins transmitting images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and small bowel to a receiver worn by the patient. The capsule takes two pictures per second, for a total of approximately 55,000 images (para. 12). After the specified time frame, the patient returns to the office for removal of the data recorder. The capsule should normally pass through the colon and be eliminated with a normal bowel movement. With traditional endoscopy, a physician is required to perform and interpret the examination. However, capsule endoscopy can be administered by any trained staff, downloaded and then read and analyzed by the physician. According to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: Capsule endoscopy helps your doctor evaluate the small intestine. The Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem Tropical rainforests contains the most diverse ecosystems of any biome, containing over half of the world s flora and fauna species despite only covering less than 6% of the earth s surface. All this combines to something of a nightmare to live in, especially for someone who has never experienced it before. But that bottle isn t going to last more than two days in this humid environment, and you re not going to make it out in that time. One tip into finding a lake or stream is look for a place where shorter, fern plants flourish, and not much tall trees are found. In The Alchemist, Santiago seeks to find treasure and on his journey, he finds his true love. Both religions share common teachings, as well as having contrasts. Their similarities include worshipping only one god, revering the same early prophets such as Jesus, following a set of commandments, believing in a day of judgement, and having a concept of heaven and hell. Their differences include having different founders, the concept of sin, and the resurrection of Jesus. Islam has also given many contributions to Western Civilization, such as science, math, medicine, and philosophy. One of Islam and Christianity s similarities is worshipping only one god. Both faiths are monotheistic However, their beliefs in the way in which god is expressed is different. In Christianity, god is represented through the trinity. According to the BBC, The Bible taught that Christians were to worship Father and Son and Holy Spirit. It also taught that Christians should only worship God. Finally, it taught that there was only one God. In Islam, there is no concept of a trinity, and they believe in the oneness of god, The most fundamental teaching of Islam is to believe in the Oneness of God, in the sense of His being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc (Why Islam 1). Discuss how theory and research in this area has been helpful or unhelpful in addressing human problems. Educational psychology has produced a vast array of theory and research that can be applied to educational settings to address problems that may occur. This essay will discuss how helpful, or not so helpful, research and theory has been in dealing with problems found in schools such as morality and understanding how children learn in order to create a rounded curriculum. This has had many implications in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is support for this idea as according to Piaget practice on a task that you are not biologically ready for should not improve performance until sufficiently mature. Research supports this argument as it has been found that children aged 10 and 13 did not improve on formal operational tasks when tutored, but 17 years olds did (Danner Day, 1977) as Piaget s theory would expect. Therefore, the concept of readiness may be helpful in understanding why children may not show improvement on challenging tasks even with tutoring. If this is the case then teachers should revise the material they are teaching to make sure their age group is biologically ready to interpret the material. On the other hand, there is research that also contradicts the idea that a child has to be biologically ready to be able to learn something. Bryant and Trabasso (1971) showed that children in the pre operational stage could be trained to solve some logical tasks which, according to Piaget s theory they should not be able to do. Instead, they argued that children s failure was due to memory restrictions and not an absence of logical thinking that appears in the operational stage. They showed that when given suitable training 4 year olds showed good performance on these tasks. They then suggested that it is practice and not readiness that matters when children are learning new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By aligning our values, we have more energy and are fulfilled as opposed to the demotivated and unauthentic characteristics of our actions that are not aligned with our values. All of which are moments worth a chuckle. If this trend is allowed to go on unchallenged, the likelihood of most students being unable to meet the high cost will be very high in the coming years as there are already notable signs of this happening. According to education expert Philips Elliot from the Christian Science Monitor (2013), the tuition cost for students attending the public two year schools went up by 6% in 2012. This pushed the total cost of attending this program to nearly $10,000 per year. This rise is estimated to have been 24% over the overall inflation rate. The same case was replicated in the four year category where the cost of tuition went up by 9%, bringing the total cost for this program to nearly $27,000 per year. The same costs were witnessed in the private learning institutions where the cost of attending college went up by an average of 14%. This brought the total cost to $42,000. The costs were even higher for students who chose to attend college outside their home states. The official records show that students in this category paid more than $31,000 to complete a four year program signifying an 11% increase (Elliot, 2013). Though Victor Frankenstein thinks fundamentally in terms of who belongs to whom , he and the Creature share a strange bond that goes beyond the bounds of mere possession. Frankenstein clearly ignores his mutual obligations and promises, especially towards the Creature, creating a relationship between the two that is composed entirely of power struggles rather than any form of mutuality. In addition to this, as one who thinks about social organization in terms of sheer power, Frankenstein extends this master slave relationship to nature itself in short, he treats nature the same as he treats his unnatural Creation. This is yet another way in which he is attempting to exert some form of control Victor is thinking, again, in terms of possession and sees nature (like the Creature) as something to control and defeat. Not everyone is respected the same due to their physical features: skin color, texture of hair, and body type. An open society helps individuals to respect for diversity, to promote inclusion, to support for national and global initiatives dedicated to eliminating disparities, and to create open, healthy societies. In order to be an open society, one must have an open mind of co workers and patients and self discipline to laws. An open society is considered to be utopia (Nyswander, 1985). Health systems are not an open society, but are always working to improve and striving to become an open society. In an open society, workers respects their coworkers and patients, future laws, and abide the rules. Workers in an open society are all free men , who are self disciplined, respect for rational order, and accept conformity to laws for the general good, and trust others (Nyswander, 1985). Therefore, it might ve been somehow difficult to find out who the protagonist of this play is if it wasn t for Aristotle s ideas of a good tragedy because neither of the main characters, Stanley Kowalski and Blanche Dubois, is completely good nor bad. According to Aristotle s Poetics, a good tragedy requires the protagonist to undergo a change of status which only happens with Blanche Dubois. From my point of view the protagonist of A Streetcar Named Desire is Blanche Dubois. Blanche is a woman who was born and raised in the plantations in Mississippi. She s about 30 years old. She is an English teacher who got fired for having an affair with a 17 year old student. She goes to New Orleans in 1947 to stay with her sister, Stella, and her sister s husband Stanley Kowalski. In this play Blanche has a praxis: She must get a companion to share her life with who can provide her with shelter, food, and financial support and that s what makes the whole story happen. This praxis is created when two things happen: First, Blanche finding out that the man she married was having an affair with another man and he decided to shoot himself after she confronted him, and second, the loss of her house in Mississippi. These two things create her need of a shelter, financial support and food therefore she decides to stay with her sister Stella. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socrates s Influence On The Youth Socrates claims that he could not have harmed the youth of Athens willingly, and his claim that all desire is for the good, are interconnected with each other. For Socrates claim about his influence on the youth to be true, the claim that everyone desires for virtuous things and not wicked, must also be true. The Meno states that: It is clear then that those who do not know things to be bad do not desire what is bad, but they desire those things that they believe to be good but that are in fact bad. It follows that those who have knowledge of these things and believe them to be good clearly desire good things (Meno 77e). The key point in the above statement is that sometimes someone does something morally wrong with the belief that their action are upstanding. They may justify their action by their feelings that they feel at the moment when otherwise they would know that that action is bad. This is an acceptable point of view because Socrates never said that it has to be a true belief.
