being a government agent in a way, some police officers are bribed by the owners of the young
girls to keep quiet. Kristoff lists that police officers are taking bribes. In the book Sold by
Nicholas Kristoff he lists Shahanna and Lakshmi having a conversation about police, saying
Policeman are supposed to stop people like Mumtaz from selling girls, she says. But she gives
