Voting Rights Victories
Not only is it ironic that Trump suggested the rigging of the election for Clinton s benefit since it
seems that the opposite statement could hold more merit, but there are 300 deaths and injuries from
lightning each year, meaning 4,769 more people were struck by lightning since 2000 than the
number of credible incidents of voter impersonation (VotingRights Victories, 3). Even more striking
is that many more people have been blocked from the polls by GOP voter suppression efforts than
have cast fraudulent votes yet the Republican National Committee released a statement on August
6, 2016, which was the 51st anniversary of the VRA, that the GOP remains committed to ensuring
access and fairness at the ballot box (Voting Rights Victories,

Even Donald Trump stated in 2012 that ,the Electoral College is a disaster for democracy. (The
Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 18). He kept this same opinion even after the
election until he undoubtedly was pressured by his advisers to tweet that the Electoral College
system is genius (The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 21). Though the Electoral
College does have faults, it makes things such as recounts much simpler, since a national recount
of the popular vote would require a mass effort that could take several weeks according to Lempert
(The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 22). Lempert also points out that threats to the
perceived legitimacy of election outcomes, and claims of illegitimacy might, in close elections, be
far greater if the Electoral College did not exist as we already have the inflammatory claims of
voter impersonation and speculation could only grow if popular vote decided the election (The
Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 22). In fact, the Electoral College is in many ways
genius, but there are a few things about it that make it

Essay on The Environments of the Earliest Australopithecus
Background and goals
The conditions in which bipedal locomotion emerged are still unresolved. However they are all
closely dependent on environment reconstructions. This project will contribute to the scientific
community s understanding of the environments of the earliest Australopithecine.
Australopithecus anamensis is the earliest species of the genus and the first indisputably bipedal
hominid. According to paleoecological analyses (isotopes, fauna, soils, etc) (2,3), these hominids
were generalists who lived in mosaic environments , e.g. a mix of habitat types. However, the
specifics of the exploitation of the environments by the hominids need to be further
explored.Understanding the conditions of local environments is essential ... Show more content on

Also, it has been reported that a number of bones of the Kanapoi collection show carnivore
induced damage . In addition, Allia Bay and Kanapoi yielded A. anamensis remains, but Mursi has
not. Does the Mursi collection differ from the two others, and if so how?
Methods
Because of the antiquity of the Pliocene environments, the only remaining witnesses of the
behaviours are the bones and the stones. One of the main approaches to this type of issue is using
the faunal remains. They are more abundant than the hominid fossils, and some indicator species
are excellent proxies for paleoecological inferences. In addition, we can study their taphonomic
signature, i.e. the processes that affect a bone between the death of the animal and its discovery as
a fossil, and how these processes affect information in the fossil record (6). By looking at the
different kinds of traces (grooves, cuts, abrasions, or any physical or chemical deformation) on a
bone, a researcher can study its individual history. By identifying these traces on all animal fossils
collected from a particular site, we can address the question of what the local environment was
like. To evaluate taphonomy, the researcher looks at the surface of each bone with a handheld
magnifying lens and records the type and intensity of the traces on each bone. Extant floral and
geological data will also be exploited.
Schedule and Materials
Taphonomy is unique among

Persian Mausoleum Essay
Creating A Persian Mausoleum
This essay is a How To guide on how to make a Persian Mausoleum. The most well known
Mausoleum is Cyrus the Great s. Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is
simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest.
The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was
easy and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design.
The scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose.
The structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians.
To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed
together to form a step like structure. There are seven pyramid succeeding steps which are irregular
in shape. The seven stones are significant in that they were ... Show more content on

The structure is a somewhat elongated square. The slanted roof above the square construction

Analysis Of Breath, A Blow A Kiss And Sand By Tim Winton
Many of Tim Winton s fictional texts mirror moments in his own life, and with an understanding
of Winton s personal context, we can begin to discover the importance of these events and an
understanding into why many of his text orbit around similar ideas. Through the insight given
in his landscape memoirs, Lands Edge and Island Home, a more considered reading of his
fictional texts; Breath, A Blow, A Kiss and Sand can be found. Specifically, these texts explore
the role that landscape and place have had in shaping his perspectives and distaste of the
expectations of Australian males. These texts each explore certain aspects of the expectations that
men all over Australia are subjected to that Winton strongly opposes. Winton grew up in the 1960
s middle class suburb of Karrinyup, WA, his working class Christian family s beliefs and values,
and events in his early life have evolved to form many of his present day values towards landscape
and masculinity.
Through his relationship with the land, Tim Winton was able to come to terms with the
expectations of West Australian Masculinity, and define his own version. Surfing and free driving
was first introduced to Winton in his teenage years after moving to the coastal town of Albany.
Before this, surfing had been a very female dominated sport, in an interview with ABC news
Winton describes, how strange it was to see men doing something so beautiful, something so
pointless, so elegant. With little to keep himself occupied in the

Comparing The Benedictine Abbey Church Of St. Michael And...
The two works I would like the compare are the Benedictine abbey church of St Michael, as well
as La Sainte Chapelle. The abbey church of St Michael is an early Romanesque style building and
is located in Hildensheim, Germany. The church was constructed between 1001 and 1031 during
the Ottoman period in the early middle ages. St. Michaels was commissioned by and built under the
direction of Bishop Bernward.
La Sainte Chapelle is located in Paris, France and was founded by King Louis IX. The
construction began in 1246 and was finished in 1248. This Gothis style cathedral was designed by
Thomas De Cormont, an architect also worked on Amiens Cathedral.
I decided to research St. Michael s Church as well as Sainte Chapelle because both churches are
very different compared to the other, yet both are beautiful works of architecture that depict the
artistic advancements for their time periods. St. Michael s building represents the Romanesque
artistic style of the Holy Roman Empire during the early middle ages. In contrast, La Sainte
Chapelle exemplifies the qualities and extravagance of the Gothic artistic era. The double choirs,
towers, cross vaulted crypt and painted ceiling are all examples of the historic decorative features
of the early Romanesque ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Psychological Theories In Mean Girls
Introduction Psychologists all over the world have studied the complexity of adolescents and
their behaviors through out this stage of the human life span. In the movie, Mean Girls,
(Waters, 2004) Lindsay Lohan portrays the main actress known as Cady Herron. Unlike most
teens, Cady was raised in Africa, with her parents as Zoologists. She was homeschooled for all
of her school years, and this would be the first attempt at public school. Cady like most
adolescents, finds herself in a rock and a hard place when she is caught between real friendship
and the fake ego plastic one. From the view of a Developmental Psychologist, there are several
key factors and theories strongly influencing Cady and her behaviors during this time in her life.
Moral emotions, moral reasoning, forging a sense of identity, and self esteem are among the
few that were chosen to take emphases on. Moral Emotion Moral emotion is classified under
Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory along with empathy, prosocial behavior, and antisocial
behavior. (Life Span, 2015, 2012, pp. 35 40) All are behaviors and stages that Cady is
experiencing at this time in her life. Moral emotions, both positive and negative, require being
able to evaluate whether you or others have exceeded or fallen short of standards of behaviors.
Cady shows signs of antisocial behavior when she works up a plan with best friend Janis Ian to
take down Regina George Queen Bee of the Plastics. She feels that even though she is pretending

Conduct Disorder Analysis
Conduct disorder (CD): a serious behavioral and emotional disorder that can occur in children
and teens. A child with this disorder may display a pattern of disruptive and violent behavior and
have problems following rules. (Mental Health and Conduct Disorder, 2005 2015 ). While it
might be surprising, aggressive and antisocial behaviors are the leading cause of child and
adolescent referrals to mental health clinicians. As a result, this leads to a diagnosis of conduct
disorder; which can develop into antisocial personality disorderfor adults. (1) (neurobiology) While
antisocial personality disorder is one of the most severe and disturbing disorders, it is not

distinctive lack of affect, remorse, or empathy. In addition, he believes they are considered to be at
risk of becoming psychopaths as adults. The article Latent Personality Profiles and the Relations
with Psychopathology and Psychopathic Traits in Detained Adolescents credits Waschbusch by
acknowledging that children with CU traits are more difficult to treat than with youth with conduct
problems only. Based on research and various studies, early intervention seems to be the

Alexander The Great Has Truly Shaped And Inspired The...
Alexander the Great has truly shaped and inspired the entire world as one of the greatest and
most successful military leaders in history. Alexander has influenced many writers, as he is
included in the national literatures of some eighty countries. At the age of just thirty, Alexander
had conquered what was known as oecumene (the inhabited world). Alexander the Great has
become worldly recognized and lives on to this day as a modern hero who took on, conquered
the world and spread Hellenic culture. Alexander III of Macedon was born in the royal palace in
Pella, the capital of Macedon, in July 356 B.C. The people of Ancient Macedonia were
considered to be barbarians or backward foreigners from a Greeks perspective even though the
Macedonians spoke and followed Greek culture. Alexander was born three years into the great
military commander of King Philip II s of Macedon s reign and Olympias, a princess who
belonged to a strange religious cult, from the neighbouring country of Epirus. The two were very
passionate and dynamic characters, and their traits and actions shaped their son s destiny along
with his tutors Aristotle, Lysimachus and Leonidas of Epirus. Demosthenes in 341 BC stated,
Philip is no Greek... He is a filthy wretch from Macedonia, . The Macedonians were clearly hated
by the Greeks and the country was considered to be a peasant, farming state. Defeating these
stereotypes about Macedonians, Alexander lived the privileged life of a young prince in the royal

Evaluation Of A Learning Organization
Organizations that strive to excel in aspects of innovation, competitiveness, and performance must
have clearly defined core values that are executed by specific learning disciplines (Senge, 2010).
Giesecke and McNeil (2004) stated, A learning organization is an organization skilled at creating,
acquiring, and transferring knowledgeand at modifying its behavior to reflect new knowledge and
insights (p. 55). In the pursuit of defining specific practices that would produce an ideal learning
organization, Senge (2008) proposes five disciplines that include, ...systems thinking, mental
models, personal mastery, shared vision, and dialogue (p. 1). In this application paper I will
analyze each of the five disciplines discussed by Senge (2008) and discuss how they can be
applied in an organization such as the high schoolwhere I am currently teaching to address specific
areas in need of improvement. The high school where I currently teach consists of twenty four
hundred students from grades 10th through 12th. This school organization as many others is in the
business of meeting educational challenges in the midst of innovative times in a noble attempt to
prepare students academically for the demands of an ever changing and knowledge driven work
environment. There are several key factors that I observe in our school that have in some way
hindered our progress in becoming an ideal learning organization. First, our school depends on the

Art As A Physical Form Of Creative Expression

Dbr Case
Based on the information in this case analysis, what are the types of threats DBR may be facing?
DBR is facing various kinds of threats like one from its competitors who could try to steal the
intellectual property of DBR and other from the advanced hackers who may be against the
offshore oil drilling projects and could target DBR for their role in those projects.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
Recently DBR released their advanced robotic prototype at an international tradeshow. Industry
experts have termed this prototype as the most advanced robotic system and also suggest that this
prototype is at least 5 years ahead of what DBR s competition has to offer. Because of this reason,
DBR fear that their competitors could try and steal their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Espionage through advanced persistent threat (APT)
Advanced persistent threat (APT) is most critical information security threat. Competitor
companies could try such attacks with intent of having ongoing access to DBR s research data. In
these attacks, the data is not damaged or deleted, but is stolen without raising any alarms. This is
the most advanced and critical threat because with APT attacks, competitors can have unrestricted
access to DBR s network and data for as long as they desire.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
The threat which DBR is facing from its competitors is another significant threat. Before the launch
of the new prototype robot, DBR s competitors had an upper hand in the market which they lost
once the DBR announced their new prototype. Network attacks from the DBR s competitors could
be aimed at either at stealing the intellectual property so that they can again get in front in the
robotics market or those attacks could be for damaging or corrupting the research data so that DBR
is not able to function as efficiently. Such network attacks are also capable of damaging the
company s infrastructure. Competitor s intent behind these threats is straightforward, they want to
get ahead in the market either by stealing the information from DBR or by hampering DBR s
functioning through data and infrastructure damage.

The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark
The Birthmark is a short story authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne and published in 1848. The story
is about Aylmer, a brilliant scientist who is obsessed with science and is planning to use his
experiments to remove a birthmark on the face of his wife Georgiana. Aylmer s love for science
made him yearn to obtain control of the entire divinity. His wife was among his victims of science
that was stronger in him than the love he had for Georgiana. Aylmer became blind to science to
the extent that he could not realize that he was damaging his wife and putting his marriage at risk.
It examines the obsession with science and human perfection that often cause problems if not
controlled as seen in the story. Hawthorne s aim with this tale was to warn its readers regarding the
dangers of science and knowledge with the story, and this is analyzed below.
Ronald Davis, Barbara Eckstein, Liz Rosenberg, Jerry A. Herndon, and Jeffrey Howard, are among
the authors who have analyzed Nathaniel s work The Birthmark. In an article titled Science and
Technology in the Birthmark, Ronald agreed by the fact that The Birthmark is a story with several
warnings. He identifies the main catalysts in the story as unnatural obsession with technology and
science by Aylmer, who is the main character. Ronald stated that in Nathaniel Hawthornes, The
Birthmark , there is an unnatural obsession with science

Two Meanings Of A Metaphorical Meaning
I believe this quote could have two meanings, a metaphorical meaning and a literally meaning. The
metaphorical meaning would be that Christians can make any location their home, but they do not

as their eternal home is in heaven. The literal interpretation of this quote would be that as previous

Lab #6: Preparation of 2 chloro 2 methylbutane an Sn 1 Reaction
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to prepare an alkyl halide, 2 chloro 2 methylbutane by
reacting 2 methyl 2 butanol (t amyl alcohol) with hydrochloric acid. Alkyl halides are of wide
interest because they are widespread and have diverse beneficial and detrimental impacts .The
overall reaction is given below:
Procedure
1 ml of 2 methyl 2 butanol was measured using 1 ml syringe and transferred into a 5 ml conical
vial. 2.5 ml of highly concentrated Hydrochloric acid was then slowly added while the vial was
constantly swirled. After mixing alcohol with HCl the vial was capped with a screw cap and
gently shaken for about 10 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this particular reaction calculations were straight forward due to 1:1 stoichiometric ratio with
an excess of acid. Using physical density constant, the volume of 2 methyl 2 butanol was first
converted into grams of alcohol. The grams were then converted into moles of alcohol using its
molecular weight. Using the reaction stoicheometry, the moles were then converted into moles of
chloride (product). Finally knowing the molecular weight of the product allowed to convert grams
into moles.
Calculating mass of 2 methyl 2 butanol:
Density = mass/volume mass = density x volume = 0.815 (g/ml) x 1 (ml) =0.815 g
Moles = grams/ MW = 0.815 (g) / 88.15 (g/mol) = 0.00925 moles
Using 1:1 stoichiometric ratio for product theoretical yield estimation:
0.00925 moles x MW of chloride (35.45) = 0.328 grams of product
Percent Yield = Actual yield / theoretical x 100% = 0.228 (g) / 0.328 (g) x 100% = 69.51 %
Discussion
It is not uncommon to have a percent yield less than 100% as was observed in our experiment.
Imperfect percent yield can be interpreted that the condition were not optimal and could be
improved. Despite careful measurements some component will still be lost during transferring
between containers. One way to get a better percent yield is by minimizing transfers. A low percent
yield could be a result of evaporation

The Legitimate Authority of a Despot in the UK
I will advance the thesis, if an enlightened despot seized power in the UK, and governed it justly,
then the despot would have legitimate authority. By saying the despot s authority would be
legitimate, I mean that, even though the despot abruptly seized power without the explicit consent
of the citizens, which would then result in a loss of autonomy and negative liberty, the authority is
governing the society justly, so a small amount of their rights must be sacrificed for a better society.
I have three reasons for asserting the legitimate authority of the despot; first, the tacit and
hypothetical consent theories; second, instrumentalism; and third, positive liberty. As mentioned
above, my thesis stating the legitimacy of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking this into consideration, the scenario in which an enlightened despot seized power in the UK
and governed it justly, the despot would only have legitimate authority if they have the consent of
the subjects. As obviously stated, the despot governs justly; therefore the society is not tyrannical
and unjust, so there is no coercion and force, and thus the despot would receive the tacit and
hypothetical consent from its subjects. First, the despot would receive the tacit consent from the
subjects because, in the political realm, men have tacitly consented to obey a governments simply
by remaining within its territory (Pitkin1965, p. 995), and thus, because the society is governed
justly, the subjects have the ability to leave whenever they want, so those who remain in the
territory give their tacit consent and obey the government, consequently making the authority
legitimate. As you can see, tacit consent theory is considered the real battle ground for consent
theory (Simmons 1976, p. 278), because the subject can change their mind at anytime. In a similar
sense, the authority is legitimate with the hypothetical consent theory because, as mentioned above,
the hypothetical consent theory claims that, if the authority governs in a way that could be in
principle agreed upon by the subjects, then it is legitimate as long as a government rules in the best
interest of it s subjects, which holds true for this despot because he governs justly, so he s

Exporting these items helped Vietnam in earning $16.85 million and accounted for over 25% of its

Exports and Imports
Over the past ten years, Vietnam has seen a gradual change in the goods they import and export.
Historically, Vietnam s exports have mostly consisted of agricultural goods, along with textiles,
fishery products, and forest products. Imports have evolved from being mostly agricultural goods
like fertilizer, and farm machinery to electronics, oil, steel, and other industrial goods. Exports from
Vietnam have begun to move towards the industrial sector as well with increases in earnings on
crude oil, electronics, and other consumer goods according to the General Statistics Office of
Vietnam (GSO).
The rate of industrial machinery, accessories, and instruments has increased from about 16% of
imports in 2005 to about 28% of imports in 2012 (the most recent year data available). The same
type of equipment has also increased dramatically on the export side as well. 20% of exports from
Vietnam fell into this group in 2005, 2012 saw 34% of exports from this category.
According to the GSO, about 80% of Vietnam s trade is done with members of other Asian
countries. Vietnam is also the president of The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as
of 2010. Through this position, Vietnam has increased trade both regionally, and internationally.

American Civil Liberties are NOT Violated by the Patriot Act
As we face the threat of terrorism, how do we protect ourselves without hurting our freedoms?
Today, terrorism is a major threat to our homeland security and has become increasingly more
prevalent and difficult to monitor with the public s accessibility to communication and information
through today s technology. Terrorists are now able to communicate more freely with recent
technological advances. In an effort to combat this new threat, the government passed the Patriot
Act, which was created to relieve some of the difficulties of monitoring communications and
activities of the public so the government can easily detect terrorist activity. In response to the ...

government, and we can t afford to have people lose their lives because part of the information is
in one department and part is in another department and they are not talking to each other (Frank,
2002, p. 1505).
The Patriot Act expands the pen register statute to include electronic communications and Internet
usage, which was previously limited to tracing of telephone numbers called by suspect criminals
(Olsen, 2001). In addition, this act allows the government to obtain warrants to examine what
people read in libraries and bookstores from records on what a person checks out or buys.
Moreover, the law allows the government to detain or deport suspects of terrorism as well as
monitor financial transcripts and electronic records. Recently, the federal court ruled to expand the
use of wiretaps and other surveillance techniques in tracking suspected terrorists under the Patriot
Act. The main part of the ruling is removing previously existing legal barriers between the FBI and
the Justice Department investigators, prosecutors and law enforcement personnel (Fox, November
2002).
Those opposed to the Patriot Act claim that it takes away our civil liberties and basic rights
afforded under the Constitution. Many argue that the bill was rushed through Congress and never
gave members time to go over it or interpret it (Demmer, 2002). According to one representative
who voted against the bill, the bill was never available to him to read before the

Han Dynasty And The Western Roman Empire
Although in different regions of the world and with cultural differences, the same problems
plagued both the Han Dynasty and the Western Roman Empire, significantly contributed to their
downfall. Some similar causes were pressure from barbarians and poor leadership which affected s
their empires. However similar, they were starkly different in areas such as the religious divide that
served to weaken Western Rome that did not exist in China.
One factor they played a role in the fall of both empires was poor leadership in their empires.
During the final days of Western Rome, there was no strong unifying leader in place due to the
number of generals that would claim leader then be quickly killed off. Rome s military were only
loyal to their generals, and when the generals would gather the power to overthrow the current rule,
they were not well received by the public or the rest of the army. They did not unify they public and
the government under strong rule, causing discord and distrust amongst the people. This lead to
many revolts and needless violence that hurt the empire. Similarly, in the Han Dynasty, the lack of
strong leaders caused people to become unsatisfied with their government. The people did not
follow the will of their leaders and the aristocrats refused to pay taxes and support the government.
Like Rome, this lack of poor leadership lead to revolts and needless violence that would ultimately
hurt their citizens, military, and entirety of their empires.

Neglect and abuse is more prevalent in disadvantaged environments and causes sometimes

Australian Catholic Social Teaching (CST)
Principles of Catholic Social Thought
Catholic social teaching (CST) or thought are belief or set of belief that is taught or developed by a
catholic church or religious organisations (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). It
expresses human dignity as a foundation for the common good in our society to flourish together as
one (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). Therefore, this wiki page will explain and
discuss each of nine CST.
Dignity of the Human Person
The principle of human dignity based on catholic social teaching is that every human being is the
live image of a god himself (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). therefore, every

Therefore, the individual s responsibility is to take care of the earth they live in. for instance,
taking care of family and friend and others with dignity is a way to show sign of our respect for the
god, who created the earth and the human (Catholic Charities, 2016).
Promotion of Peace
Most commonly heard catholic teaching is about the peace, concept that is action orientated and
about loving others (Catholic Charities, 2016). Promotion of peace involves peace and mutual
respects between people and the nations across the world (Catholic Charities, 2016). Therefore,
catholic teachings have a close relationship between peace and justice. When individuals and
nations keep the peace, society will flourish.
Participation
All individuals have a right to participate in the education, politic, economy and cultural life of
society (Catholic Charities, 2016). It is a fundamental demand of justice system and the
requirement for a human dignity that is assured for everyone in society to participate in the
community (Catholic Charities, 2016). Moreover, it is wrong for someone or group of people to
be excluded from participating social activities, treated unfairly or not be able to participate in
society (Catholic Charities, 2016). When every individual participates in society, it will flourish.

The French Connection
New York City Cops The NYPD is one of the finest law enforcements when it comes to containing
drugs, except one, heroin. The business of drugs exponentially grows to new heights every year.
Around the early 70 s, heroine was being brought over to the united states at very high rates. New
York City was a famous shipping ground for heroine, which made times tough for the law
enforcement. At one point in history a person could find all sorts of dirty businesses in New York,
whether it s pimping, selling drugs or other malicious crimes. There are many famous mobsters that

3. How much time do I have to execute this before the cops find out?
In the 70 s before there was much technology to help and crack down these major dealers, the police
would have to deal with it by purely just evidence.
These cases always have to be dealt with patience. Buddy and Popeye tail a Lincoln that
eventually parks on a side street. Just like in real life they wait and wait to see if anything occurs
and surely does, at 4:10 A.M they both catch two thieves trying to strip the Lincoln. The Lincoln
is towed back to a garage where it is searched for evidence or in this case drugs.
They search everywhere from the trunk, under the hood and in the seating but come up empty.
They start to get a bit impatient but do not give up and eventually do find the drugs. It turned out
to be in the car s rocker panels underneath the doors. From this they have all the evidence they
need to put these mobsters in prison once and for all. As in reality a big case such as this will never
be solved in a couple of days, it could take weeks, months or even years.
The French Connection is one of the most realistic police movies that I have ever seen and
teaches a lot about cops. There are some stereotypes as Popeye who plays the tough cop role and
at times could be racist, while his partner buddy is the more patient and quiet one than his loud and
obnoxious partner. It s a common formula seen in other police movies. This

Charles: Even though, much of what you said is true because many men were inspired by God

Gospel, who is one of the Twelve Apostles stated, But there are also many other things that Jesus
did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the

Sacred Scripture, as well as acknowledging that all they wrote came from His inspiration and not
His command for the apostles to write it down. Therefore, showing that would have been impossible

Analysis Of Albert Camus BookThe Plague
Shaver 1
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn t, than live as if there isn
t and to die to find out that there is.
Albert Camus, The Fall
In Albert Camus novel The Plague, the author employs three main characters the narrator,
Tarrou, and Father Paneloux to represent extremist views on religion and science in culture.
The narrator, Rieux, most closely resembles Camus own perspective while Tarrou and Father
Paneloux represent the radical views of the two opposite sides. Tarrou lives a life strictly reliant
on science and throws faith to the void; Father Paneloux being the man of religion has no
consideration for the world of science. Rieux often finds himself leaning more towards Tarrou,
but with a fuller understanding of Camus philosophy one can surmise that Rieux is not entirely
opposed to the faith culture, and thus excluding Camus from a full blown postmodernist view
(Brizee Oct, 2017). The character of Father Paneloux is introduced as a stalwart champion of
Christian doctrine, (Camus 92) thus leaving the reader with no curiosity about the qualification of
this man from a religious point of view. It is this character s challenges and responses to hardship
that reveal his loyalty to the faith based world that is so commonly overlooked in Camus novel.
The sermons of Father Paneloux are perhaps to be considered the strongest example of his faith in
the face of the plague. The nature of the first sermon is blunt and

Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The Discourses
The Renaissance was a time of classical revival and a turning point from the Middle Ages to the
Early Modern period in the course of history. Ancient texts and artifacts became sources of
inspiration for intellectuals and artists alike, and the desire to emulate or even surpass the
achievements of the past prompted them to study antiquities closely and saw them as models and
guidance. People were consciously distinguishing themselves from the medieval thoughts and using
history to make something new for their own era. In the field of political philosophy there s no
exception. Niccolo Machiavelli is perhaps the most representative and groundbreaking figure of this
trend in political philosophy. With his erudition in ancient literature, histories and political thoughts,
Machiavelli draws various sources from antiquity to critic and response to the political environment
of histime. While one may find seemingly discrepancies in The Prince and The Discourse on the
First Ten Books of Tius Livy, the use of histories as guide to demonstrate or propose ideal rules is
apparent in both works. We should note that synthesizing ancient philosophy or thoughts with
contemporary thoughts is nothing new. Thomas Aquinas, for example, reconciled Aristotelianism
and Christianity in his work Summa Theologica, using ancient antiquity to back up his Christian
beliefs. What is so noteworthy in Machiavelli is his emphasis and

AN ACT to discontinue, in such manner, and for or such time as are therein mentioned, the landing
and discharging, landing or shipping, of goods, wares, and merchandise, at the town, and within the
harbour, of Boston, in the province of Massachusetts Bay, in North America.
The British government started taxing various things that were being shipped to America such as
paper and glass. Most important to the cause of the Boston Port Act was that the British were
taxing tea that was arriving in the Boston harbor. The colonists became very frustrated, and they
decided to throw the next shipment of tea into the harbor. This became known as the Boston Tea

angrier and more united in their dislike against the British. To start with, the closing of the port put
almost 350 men out of work. Even though the closing of the port caused inconvenience to almost
everyone, the bigger problem was that the colonists did not agree that Britain should have any right
to close any American port. People were so angry about this that Lord Dartmouth suggested that

Conformity Orientation In The Luncheons
My last concept is conformity orientation: refers to how strongly a family enforces the uniformity

The violence that he creates with fight club is libertarian in a sense that it is out of the way,
between two consenting adults, but also a throwback to ritual combat. One man runs as a `chief
figure who announces and enforces the rules fight club. During one scene, Jack takes note of this
and compares the chanting of the crowd to a Pentecostal service, the crowd speaking in tongues.
With the condemnation of many of society s more violent activities, i.e., boxing, action films, et
cetera, fight club s slippery slope argument that men want violence in their lives seems to make
sense. Something IS missing in our lives, something that has always been there but is disappearing
as the decline of western civilization continues. Tyler addresses this problem on the public bus,

Analysis Of Heidi s The Great Gatsby
Heidi s tragic side is fully revealed in this entire speech where humor and drama are perfectly
blended to emphasize her moment of realization. She becomes a diminished character who no
longer knows who she is and decides to leave New York to sort out her future. Like a true dark
comedy protagonist, she is vulnerable and has lost control. She realizes her downfalls and the
comedylies in the superiority felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to
man (Capp 220). In the area of humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered
an everywoman for her generation. She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire shared by
women of all generations trying to balance personal dreams with societal expectations. The
illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by her need to laugh off the heartaches and mask
her true identity. She attempts to cover the duller elements of her personality and never turns to
a higher power for assistance, as is characteristic of a dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act
II referenced above shows signs of a dark comic protagonist who clears his throats and scratches
her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s tenet suggests,
be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162). She attempts to do so by adopting a baby,
however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of happiness will remain unanswered for

Violation Of Drug Testing
Some people may say that mandatory drug testing is a violation of the athletes Fourth Amendment

author of Mandatory Drug Testing Violates Rights believes that drug testing is a violation of the
Fourth Amendment of the Constitution; Courts have ruled that drugtestsare a search. A search is a

in some cases they may violate the rights of some citizens. Professional athletes, on the other hand,

Examples Of Innocence In Catcher In The Rye
1: Life Can Be Cruel and Unfair (Allie) Holden s view of life is that it can be very cruel and
unfair. The origin of this thinking is from his younger brother Allie. He feels guilty that he is
essentially wasting his life away, while Allie died so very young of Leukemia. This is a huge
part of his entire journey. Holden always describes Allie as a very smart and kind person that he
looked up to, which is why he feels life is so cruel. 2: Innocence Is Bliss (Holden s Dream)
Catcher In The Rye , is Holden s dream. He stands in a field of rye, while catching children who
are playing too close to a cliff. This represents his love of children s innocence. When he sees
kids who are innocent and how real it is, it makes him very happy. Little things upset him, such

Authentic and (Phonies) Holden always speaks about how he hates phony people. He respects
those who are authentic and speak their mind. While this makes sense, his opinion is very
controversial, because this doesn t work in the real world. He feels like his older brother D.B. is
phony for writing scripts for Hollywood, and not following his dream of doing his own work.
Ironically, Holden could also be phony. 4: Hold onto the people you care about (Phoebe) One of
the few people Holden actually cares about is his sister Phoebe. Throughout his journey, he always
thinks and talks about her a lot. He cares for her so much

New Imperialism In Europe
New imperialism is often described as the quick increase and take over of land that European
powers had during the 19th century. New imperialism was a movement that erupted very
suddenly. Many of the European powers were actually opposed to the idea of taking over new
territories. Of course, as time progressed, all of that changed. Sense there was a creation of new
nations; these nations need resources to be able to establish themselves. Italy and Germany were
the two new nations that used imperialisminitially. The change of balance cause more stable
European powers to want more control. There are many factors that are involved with the spread of
imperialism in Europe. Things such as underlying issues that promoted imperialism in Europe,

The scramble was a plan to take over unindustrialized locations around the world and claim them as
colonial possessions. Eventually these lands that were taken over were used for their natural
resources. These natural resources were normally used for European industrial complexes. The way
the European colonists justified their actions was by using social Darwinism through natural
selection. They believed that the European race was more superior or stronger than any other in the
world. This reason is why they conquered Africa. Another factor for the colonization by Europeans
was the missionaries. The missionaries used a less aggressive form of social Darwinism.
Missionaries felt that their purpose was to civilize Africans and spread Christianity. Real
colonization of Africa happened after the Brussels geographical conference. This conference
resulted in the creation of African international association. Later the Berlin conference happened
and Europe portioned the whole continent of Africa. As time passed there were more than 50
countries in Africa that under colonial rule. Many Africans that were against European colonization

The Social Problem Of Family Violence And Abuse
The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which
includes spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal
with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and
what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across
cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly
acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household
as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the
repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I
believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can
at least reduce the amount of family violencewe see throughout cultures. For one, people need to
acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violenceand child abuseis real and exists
throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is
not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we
love the most. The third action is to educate people in alternative ways they can deal with their
family members without having to resort to violence.
The first most important step in solving any problem is to actually express that there is a problem in

What Is A Transgender Rebuttal
Transgender Rebuttal:
Hello there, I m James Warmbier. I have to disagree with your sectionalism essay on being
transgender. I disagree with this because transgender people are human beings just like us. They
should not be judged for what they do with their bodies. In my opinion, it s just another form of
racism. And this country has way too much of that already.
Unfortunately, in your life, there will be a lot of things that creep you out. Just because
something creeps you out , doesn t mean it s wrong. Also, being creeped out isn t really a valid
reason. People don t go up to you and say You re creepy. Would you agree if a women got breast
implants? That s changing your body too. It would be pretty ridiculous to go up to that women and
say You re creepy. . Right?
Saying that transgender kids should not be able to go to school or even be separated in stores is
very extreme. I don t see why they shouldn t get an education. But having them separated in
stores is too crazy. How would they be able to shop for things they may need. In comparison, what
you re saying is just like when slavery was around. Whites were separated from blacks, but in this
situation, all people are separated from transgender s.
I don t really see what you mean by a controlled society . The people who discriminate are in the
way . It s not the transgender communities fault. If a male feels like a female, it s alright for a
person to change and not be discriminated against. They are the same

Argumentative Essay On Arranged Marriage
Arranged Marriages I didn t want to disappear into a forced marriage. I wanted my freedom
Sabatina James. One of today s societal norms is having the choice to marry who you desire. The
long age tradition of having arranged marriages in other countries and even in cultures in America
today, arranged marriages have different meanings and circumstances. Some countries like China
and India have modernized their tradition of arranging marriages, while other countries still use
arranged marriages for wealth and status in society. Although, at the core, arranged marriages
restrict any women s rights under forceful circumstances.
Divorce rates in America have reached a high of 40 to 50 percent. Arranged marriages in today s

The Meet and Greet is a more modern way of arranged marriages, but, it worked for this couple;
and they both knew that an arranged marriage was a better option for them.
We have friends that met in college, fell in love, and you know, they fought for that. But I think our
personalities are the type that we would probably wouldn t have fought for it, because we didn t
know each other that well either (Renee Montagne 28).
The modern arranged marriage is based on personalities and finding your compliment, but, also
for love and romance. The difference in modern arranged marriages compared to traditional
arranged marriages is that they are not based off of marrying a daughter off for wealth, to have a
higher social status or to just start having younger women once they reach a fertile age to be baby
dwellers. Based on the Muslim couple in the article Matched by Mom: Arranged Marriage
Liggett 3 in America and the foundation modern arranged marriages portray to just find a
companion, is a better option for some individuals and doesn t take away a woman s right.
A problem with arranged marriages, though in countries that do use arranged marriages still for
wealth, status and to give away their fertile daughters, take away a women s rights.
But women are the greater victims of arranged marriages. Arrange marriages

The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
In Cormac McCarthy s The Road, the father presents to the reader three distinct characteristics that
shapes his personality through novel. When the man mentions of carrying the fire to his son,
meaning that his son carries the load of civilization, compassion, and sympathy, the father
expresses multiple times that he lives for his son, and only for his son. The world of The Road is a
complete anarchy, and the mandisplays extensive amounts of bravery while trying to face the
struggles and hardships that is presented to them. Whether the challenge is to be hiding from
cannibals, or wandering into dangerous abandon houses, the man always exhibits ample
amounts of bravery. Even though the man s son is born into the disheveled and chaotic world
and experiences nothing else before, the boy s sense of right and wrong came from his father.
The man constantly influences his son by telling him that they are the good and guys: Look at
me, the man said. He turned and looked. He looked like he d been crying. Just tell me. We
wouldn t ever eat anybody, would we? No. Of course not. Even if we were starving?... But we
wouldn t. No. We wouldn t No matter what? No. No matter what. Because were the good guys.
Yes. And we re carrying the fire? And we re carrying the fire. Yes. (McCarthy 195) . The exchange
of the dialogue here between the man and his son shows how the man has shaped his son with a
compass of separation between good and bad. Although the man believes his son learns this

Essay On Sigmund Jung Jung Symbolism
According to Jung symbol is unconscious aspect that is never precisely defined or fully
explained. But it does explore around with various mystery or experiences faced in reality.
Furthermore, he also believes that people need to use symbols to express themselves because
every symbol has a significance to define a certain condition and feelings that we are aware of.
Expressing symbols shows what a person is going through, it might also give us a symbol related to
their problems.
The relationship that Jung establish among symbols, dreams and the unconscious is as a symbolic
image. They all contain an indefinite number of unknown factors that might end up disclosing
different kind of meanings under it.
In Jung s perspective it is natural to have a divided self because we all have different meanings
about different things in reality. Also, Jung thinks that it is natural to have divided self because
every experience contains of different points.
Primitive people often feel an unconscious identification with another person or object because they
have the most common mental disagreements that occur which is called the loss of a soul. This
characteristic of primitive people is relevant to modern people and their personal identity issues
because they both suffer from divided personality.
Jung supports his claim by talking about Sigmund Freud and based on his conclusion neurotic
symptoms are related to some conscious experience. He also mentions Freud s perspection related

Hasta Mudras Essay
The Dance therapy, especially Mudra therapy is involved in holding the hasta mudras to give the
therapeutic effect. When we hold a particular hasta mudra the nerves get stimulated and it is passed
to the brain via the spinal cord through the peripheral nervous system. To comprehend the
stimulations, while holding the Hasta Mudras; and the process of carrying the impulses to the brain
and back, we need to study the nervous systemof the brain and its functions. The nervous system
comprises the central nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral
nervous system, consisting of the cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerves, together with their motor
and sensory endings.
4.6.1 Central nervous system The central nervous system is composed of millions of nerve and
glial cells, together with blood vessels and a little connective tissue. The nerve cells or neurons in
the blood play a very major role in the transmission and reception of signals. The glial cells, termed
neuroglia, are characterized by short processes that have special relationships to neurons, blood
vessels, and connective tissue . These cells play a very major role in receiving and transmitting of
the signals on stimulating while holding the corresponding hasta mudras.

George W. Bush Speech Analysis
The central idea of the 43th president, George W. Bush Speech for the incident of dictator of Iraq
taking over Kuwait was that we are going to war with allies and soldiers who believe we have to
fight with the cruel dictator of Iraq because when we offered peace they only wanted war and now
we have to save the people of Kuwait. George immediately starts to play with our motions at the
beginning about the dictator of Iraqtaking over the weak Kuwait, when the dictator of Iraq
invaded a small and helpless neighbor... was crushed; its people, brutalized. Five months ago,
Saddam Hussein started his cruel war against Kuwait ( Bush 2). Bush started using invaded , small

connotations and effective words such as raped, pillaged, and plundered a tiny nation ,
unspeakable atrocities , maimed and murdered, innocent children , dangerous weapons of mass
destruction and Saddam prepared for war to show how Saddam is destroying and hurting this
little nation that had nothing to provoke them, even killing innocent children, and that would play

this horrible situation is to go into war with the Iraq dictator. Developing the central idea further

Eminem s Hip-Hop
Hip Hop belongs to the greatest artist alive: Eminem, and many artists, and fans can back that up
for you. Jay Z spoke about Eminem s album sales, saying it is a travesty that he is the highest
selling rapper of all time. Statistically, Eminem is the most successful rapper ever, building his
foundations with his first record The Slim Shady EP, and its follow up, The Marshall Mathers LP.
In fact, it was Eminems second place finish finish at the 1997 Rap Olympics that helped land him
on Interscope and, eventually, Dr. Dre s radar. Classic albums and unforgettable singles like Lose
Yourself, Not Afraid and Love the Way You Lie. For the most successful rapper in the world to be

The Distrust Between The Sexes By Karen Horney
Differences Between Men and Women
An analysis of The Distrust Between the Sexes by Karen Horney
Men and women have always been unequal, and it has always been an issue of women wanting
to be equal, and men wanting to be superior. Maybe in other countries across the globe they are
more equal, but in America they are not as equal and women want them to be. Women are
portrayed as the ones that are supposed to stay home and take care of the kids and cook and
clean the house all the time. Men are supposed to be the workers of the family and they are not
supposed to be the ones that cook the meals or clean the home. The man is supposed to be the
worker, the woman is supposed to be the housewife, and women are supposed to give birth to kids

Throughout this period, mainline Christian editors remained reluctant to support women s working
outside the home. The CENTURY feared two developments: 1) women might take jobs needed by
ethnic minorities (a legitimate concern because American industry in the 1950s might have
preferred women to minority employees); and 2) women working outside the home would likely
have an adverse effect upon the family life of America. They still thought that women working
outside the home was a bad idea. Just another example of how women are supposed to be in the

  • 2. Voting Rights Victories Not only is it ironic that Trump suggested the rigging of the election for Clinton s benefit since it seems that the opposite statement could hold more merit, but there are 300 deaths and injuries from lightning each year, meaning 4,769 more people were struck by lightning since 2000 than the number of credible incidents of voter impersonation (VotingRights Victories, 3). Even more striking is that many more people have been blocked from the polls by GOP voter suppression efforts than have cast fraudulent votes yet the Republican National Committee released a statement on August 6, 2016, which was the 51st anniversary of the VRA, that the GOP remains committed to ensuring access and fairness at the ballot box (Voting Rights Victories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even Donald Trump stated in 2012 that ,the Electoral College is a disaster for democracy. (The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 18). He kept this same opinion even after the election until he undoubtedly was pressured by his advisers to tweet that the Electoral College system is genius (The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 21). Though the Electoral College does have faults, it makes things such as recounts much simpler, since a national recount of the popular vote would require a mass effort that could take several weeks according to Lempert (The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 22). Lempert also points out that threats to the perceived legitimacy of election outcomes, and claims of illegitimacy might, in close elections, be far greater if the Electoral College did not exist as we already have the inflammatory claims of voter impersonation and speculation could only grow if popular vote decided the election (The Pros and Cons of the Electoral College System, 22). In fact, the Electoral College is in many ways genius, but there are a few things about it that make it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on The Environments of the Earliest Australopithecus Background and goals The conditions in which bipedal locomotion emerged are still unresolved. However they are all closely dependent on environment reconstructions. This project will contribute to the scientific community s understanding of the environments of the earliest Australopithecine. Australopithecus anamensis is the earliest species of the genus and the first indisputably bipedal hominid. According to paleoecological analyses (isotopes, fauna, soils, etc) (2,3), these hominids were generalists who lived in mosaic environments , e.g. a mix of habitat types. However, the specifics of the exploitation of the environments by the hominids need to be further explored.Understanding the conditions of local environments is essential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, it has been reported that a number of bones of the Kanapoi collection show carnivore induced damage . In addition, Allia Bay and Kanapoi yielded A. anamensis remains, but Mursi has not. Does the Mursi collection differ from the two others, and if so how? Methods Because of the antiquity of the Pliocene environments, the only remaining witnesses of the behaviours are the bones and the stones. One of the main approaches to this type of issue is using the faunal remains. They are more abundant than the hominid fossils, and some indicator species are excellent proxies for paleoecological inferences. In addition, we can study their taphonomic signature, i.e. the processes that affect a bone between the death of the animal and its discovery as a fossil, and how these processes affect information in the fossil record (6). By looking at the different kinds of traces (grooves, cuts, abrasions, or any physical or chemical deformation) on a bone, a researcher can study its individual history. By identifying these traces on all animal fossils collected from a particular site, we can address the question of what the local environment was like. To evaluate taphonomy, the researcher looks at the surface of each bone with a handheld magnifying lens and records the type and intensity of the traces on each bone. Extant floral and geological data will also be exploited. Schedule and Materials Taphonomy is unique among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Persian Mausoleum Essay Creating A Persian Mausoleum This essay is a How To guide on how to make a Persian Mausoleum. The most well known Mausoleum is Cyrus the Great s. Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest. The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was easy and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design. The scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose. The structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians. To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed together to form a step like structure. • 6. Analysis Of Breath, A Blow A Kiss And Sand By Tim Winton Many of Tim Winton s fictional texts mirror moments in his own life, and with an understanding of Winton s personal context, we can begin to discover the importance of these events and an understanding into why many of his text orbit around similar ideas. Through the insight given in his landscape memoirs, Lands Edge and Island Home, a more considered reading of his fictional texts; Breath, A Blow, A Kiss and Sand can be found. Specifically, these texts explore the role that landscape and place have had in shaping his perspectives and distaste of the expectations of Australian males. These texts each explore certain aspects of the expectations that men all over Australia are subjected to that Winton strongly opposes. Winton grew up in the 1960 s middle class suburb of Karrinyup, WA, his working class Christian family s beliefs and values, and events in his early life have evolved to form many of his present day values towards landscape and masculinity. Through his relationship with the land, Tim Winton was able to come to terms with the expectations of West Australian Masculinity, and define his own version. Surfing and free driving was first introduced to Winton in his teenage years after moving to the coastal town of Albany. Before this, surfing had been a very female dominated sport, in an interview with ABC news Winton describes, how strange it was to see men doing something so beautiful, something so pointless, so elegant. • 8. Comparing The Benedictine Abbey Church Of St. Michael And... The two works I would like the compare are the Benedictine abbey church of St Michael, as well as La Sainte Chapelle. The abbey church of St Michael is an early Romanesque style building and is located in Hildensheim, Germany. The church was constructed between 1001 and 1031 during the Ottoman period in the early middle ages. St. Michaels was commissioned by and built under the direction of Bishop Bernward. La Sainte Chapelle is located in Paris, France and was founded by King Louis IX. The construction began in 1246 and was finished in 1248. This Gothis style cathedral was designed by Thomas De Cormont, an architect also worked on Amiens Cathedral. I decided to research St. Michael s Church as well as Sainte Chapelle because both churches are very different compared to the other, yet both are beautiful works of architecture that depict the artistic advancements for their time periods. St. Michael s building represents the Romanesque artistic style of the Holy Roman Empire during the early middle ages. In contrast, La Sainte Chapelle exemplifies the qualities and extravagance of the Gothic artistic era. • 12. Psychological Theories In Mean Girls Introduction Psychologists all over the world have studied the complexity of adolescents and their behaviors through out this stage of the human life span. In the movie, Mean Girls, (Waters, 2004) Lindsay Lohan portrays the main actress known as Cady Herron. Unlike most teens, Cady was raised in Africa, with her parents as Zoologists. She was homeschooled for all of her school years, and this would be the first attempt at public school. Cady like most adolescents, finds herself in a rock and a hard place when she is caught between real friendship and the fake ego plastic one. From the view of a Developmental Psychologist, there are several key factors and theories strongly influencing Cady and her behaviors during this time in her life. Moral emotions, moral reasoning, forging a sense of identity, and self esteem are among the few that were chosen to take emphases on. Moral Emotion Moral emotion is classified under Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory along with empathy, prosocial behavior, and antisocial behavior. (Life Span, 2015, 2012, pp. 35 40) All are behaviors and stages that Cady is experiencing at this time in her life. Moral emotions, both positive and negative, require being able to evaluate whether you or others have exceeded or fallen short of standards of behaviors. While it might be surprising, aggressive and antisocial behaviors are the leading cause of child and adolescent referrals to mental health clinicians. As a result, this leads to a diagnosis of conduct disorder; which can develop into antisocial personality disorderfor adults. Alexander the Great has truly shaped and inspired the entire world as one of the greatest and most successful military leaders in history. Alexander has influenced many writers, as he is included in the national literatures of some eighty countries. At the age of just thirty, Alexander had conquered what was known as oecumene (the inhabited world). Alexander the Great has become worldly recognized and lives on to this day as a modern hero who took on, conquered the world and spread Hellenic culture. Alexander III of Macedon was born in the royal palace in Pella, the capital of Macedon, in July 356 B.C. The people of Ancient Macedonia were considered to be barbarians or backward foreigners from a Greeks perspective even though the Macedonians spoke and followed Greek culture. Alexander was born three years into the great military commander of King Philip II s of Macedon s reign and Olympias, a princess who belonged to a strange religious cult, from the neighbouring country of Epirus. The two were very passionate and dynamic characters, and their traits and actions shaped their son s destiny along with his tutors Aristotle, Lysimachus and Leonidas of Epirus. Demosthenes in 341 BC stated, Philip is no Greek... He is a filthy wretch from Macedonia, . Evaluation Of A Learning Organization Organizations that strive to excel in aspects of innovation, competitiveness, and performance must have clearly defined core values that are executed by specific learning disciplines (Senge, 2010). Giesecke and McNeil (2004) stated, A learning organization is an organization skilled at creating, acquiring, and transferring knowledgeand at modifying its behavior to reflect new knowledge and insights (p. 55). In the pursuit of defining specific practices that would produce an ideal learning organization, Senge (2008) proposes five disciplines that include, ...systems thinking, mental models, personal mastery, shared vision, and dialogue (p. 1). In this application paper I will analyze each of the five disciplines discussed by Senge (2008) and discuss how they can be applied in an organization such as the high schoolwhere I am currently teaching to address specific areas in need of improvement. The high school where I currently teach consists of twenty four hundred students from grades 10th through 12th. This school organization as many others is in the business of meeting educational challenges in the midst of innovative times in a noble attempt to prepare students academically for the demands of an ever changing and knowledge driven work environment. There are several key factors that I observe in our school that have in some way hindered our progress in becoming an ideal learning organization. This is the most advanced and critical threat because with APT attacks, competitors can have unrestricted access to DBR s network and data for as long as they desire. The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne Rawan Jabr Professor Stafford English 102 November 9th 2014 Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark The Birthmark is a short story authored by Nathaniel Hawthorne and published in 1848. The story is about Aylmer, a brilliant scientist who is obsessed with science and is planning to use his experiments to remove a birthmark on the face of his wife Georgiana. Aylmer s love for science made him yearn to obtain control of the entire divinity. His wife was among his victims of science that was stronger in him than the love he had for Georgiana. Aylmer became blind to science to the extent that he could not realize that he was damaging his wife and putting his marriage at risk. It examines the obsession with science and human perfection that often cause problems if not controlled as seen in the story. Hawthorne s aim with this tale was to warn its readers regarding the dangers of science and knowledge with the story, and this is analyzed below. Ronald Davis, Barbara Eckstein, Liz Rosenberg, Jerry A. Herndon, and Jeffrey Howard, are among the authors who have analyzed Nathaniel s work The Birthmark. In an article titled Science and Technology in the Birthmark, Ronald agreed by the fact that The Birthmark is a story with several warnings. Alkyl halides are of wide interest because they are widespread and have diverse beneficial and detrimental impacts .The overall reaction is given below: Procedure 1 ml of 2 methyl 2 butanol was measured using 1 ml syringe and transferred into a 5 ml conical vial. 2.5 ml of highly concentrated Hydrochloric acid was then slowly added while the vial was constantly swirled. Using the reaction stoicheometry, the moles were then converted into moles of chloride (product). Finally knowing the molecular weight of the product allowed to convert grams into moles. Calculating mass of 2 methyl 2 butanol: Density = mass/volume mass = density x volume = 0.815 (g/ml) x 1 (ml) =0.815 g Moles = grams/ MW = 0.815 (g) / 88.15 (g/mol) = 0.00925 moles Using 1:1 stoichiometric ratio for product theoretical yield estimation: 0.00925 moles x MW of chloride (35.45) = 0.328 grams of product Percent Yield = Actual yield / theoretical x 100% = 0.228 (g) / 0.328 (g) x 100% = 69.51 % Discussion It is not uncommon to have a percent yield less than 100% as was observed in our experiment. The Legitimate Authority of a Despot in the UK I will advance the thesis, if an enlightened despot seized power in the UK, and governed it justly, then the despot would have legitimate authority. By saying the despot s authority would be legitimate, I mean that, even though the despot abruptly seized power without the explicit consent of the citizens, which would then result in a loss of autonomy and negative liberty, the authority is governing the society justly, so a small amount of their rights must be sacrificed for a better society. Taking this into consideration, the scenario in which an enlightened despot seized power in the UK and governed it justly, the despot would only have legitimate authority if they have the consent of the subjects. As obviously stated, the despot governs justly; therefore the society is not tyrannical and unjust, so there is no coercion and force, and thus the despot would receive the tacit and hypothetical consent from its subjects. First, the despot would receive the tacit consent from the subjects because, in the political realm, men have tacitly consented to obey a governments simply by remaining within its territory (Pitkin1965, p. 995), and thus, because the society is governed justly, the subjects have the ability to leave whenever they want, so those who remain in the territory give their tacit consent and obey the government, consequently making the authority legitimate. As you can see, tacit consent theory is considered the real battle ground for consent theory (Simmons 1976, p. 278), because the subject can change their mind at anytime. In a similar sense, the authority is legitimate with the hypothetical consent theory because, as mentioned above, the hypothetical consent theory claims that, if the authority governs in a way that could be in principle agreed upon by the subjects, then it is legitimate as long as a government rules in the best interest of it s subjects, which holds true for this despot because he governs justly, so he s ... Analysis Of Albert Camus BookThe Plague Shaver 1 I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn t, than live as if there isn t and to die to find out that there is. Albert Camus, The Fall In Albert Camus novel The Plague, the author employs three main characters the narrator, Tarrou, and Father Paneloux to represent extremist views on religion and science in culture. The narrator, Rieux, most closely resembles Camus own perspective while Tarrou and Father Paneloux represent the radical views of the two opposite sides. Tarrou lives a life strictly reliant on science and throws faith to the void; Father Paneloux being the man of religion has no consideration for the world of science. Rieux often finds himself leaning more towards Tarrou, but with a fuller understanding of Camus philosophy one can surmise that Rieux is not entirely opposed to the faith culture, and thus excluding Camus from a full blown postmodernist view (Brizee Oct, 2017). The character of Father Paneloux is introduced as a stalwart champion of Christian doctrine, (Camus 92) thus leaving the reader with no curiosity about the qualification of this man from a religious point of view. It is this character s challenges and responses to hardship that reveal his loyalty to the faith based world that is so commonly overlooked in Camus novel. Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The Discourses The Renaissance was a time of classical revival and a turning point from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern period in the course of history. Ancient texts and artifacts became sources of inspiration for intellectuals and artists alike, and the desire to emulate or even surpass the achievements of the past prompted them to study antiquities closely and saw them as models and guidance. People were consciously distinguishing themselves from the medieval thoughts and using history to make something new for their own era. In the field of political philosophy there s no exception. Niccolo Machiavelli is perhaps the most representative and groundbreaking figure of this trend in political philosophy. With his erudition in ancient literature, histories and political thoughts, Machiavelli draws various sources from antiquity to critic and response to the political environment of histime. While one may find seemingly discrepancies in The Prince and The Discourse on the First Ten Books of Tius Livy, the use of histories as guide to demonstrate or propose ideal rules is apparent in both works. Even though the closing of the port caused inconvenience to almost everyone, the bigger problem was that the colonists did not agree that Britain should have any right to close any American port. • 36. Conformity Orientation In The Luncheons My last concept is conformity orientation: refers to how strongly a family enforces the uniformity of attitudes, values, and beliefs (page 323). The scene that ties to this concept is the second luncheon we see with Leigh Anne. In this scene, there is a second luncheon with Leigh Anne, Beth, Elaine, and Sherry, and this scene is incredibly different from the first luncheon we see in the movie. The women now know that Michael is living with the Touhy s and they noticed on the Touhy s Christmas card that Michael was also in the picture. Of course, there were some rather rude comments made about how big and dark Michael looks next to the familythat I am sure Leigh Anne takes to heart. On the surface it can is seen as a backlash to the feminization of men, and a celebration of violence for violence sake. But what is it really about? Fight Club is a protest against not the feminization of the western male, but against men themselves. The violence that he creates with fight club is libertarian in a sense that it is out of the way, between two consenting adults, but also a throwback to ritual combat. One man runs as a `chief figure who announces and enforces the rules fight club. During one scene, Jack takes note of this and compares the chanting of the crowd to a Pentecostal service, the crowd speaking in tongues. With the condemnation of many of society s more violent activities, i.e., boxing, action films, et cetera, fight club s slippery slope argument that men want violence in their lives seems to make sense. Something IS missing in our lives, something that has always been there but is disappearing as the decline of western civilization continues. Tyler addresses this problem on the public bus, pointing out a Calvin Klein ad and asking if that is what a man is. Should we buy what Madison Avenue tells us what to be? For thousands of years man has been the provider of families, the soldier, the knight, and the hero that saved the princess, the intrepid explorer. Fight Club argues that men should return to that state, but the blame is not placed on women, indiviuals, society or even a government. The blame for the emasculation of the male is placed on capitalism. Fight Club evolves (or, it could be argued, devolves) into Project Mayhem. • 38. Analysis Of Heidi s The Great Gatsby Heidi s tragic side is fully revealed in this entire speech where humor and drama are perfectly blended to emphasize her moment of realization. She becomes a diminished character who no longer knows who she is and decides to leave New York to sort out her future. Like a true dark comedy protagonist, she is vulnerable and has lost control. She realizes her downfalls and the comedylies in the superiority felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to man (Capp 220). In the area of humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered an everywoman for her generation. She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire shared by women of all generations trying to balance personal dreams with societal expectations. The illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by her need to laugh off the heartaches and mask her true identity. She attempts to cover the duller elements of her personality and never turns to a higher power for assistance, as is characteristic of a dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act II referenced above shows signs of a dark comic protagonist who clears his throats and scratches her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s tenet suggests, be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162). She attempts to do so by adopting a baby, however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of happiness will remain unanswered for Heidi: SCOOP. But now. Right now. ... Learning an instrument takes quite a lot of interest in music, as well as many hours of practice to perfect it. Learning an instrument was always the goal in mind. According to some people, these tests are unnecessary and therefore violate these rights. The author of Mandatory Drug Testing Violates Rights believes that drug testing is a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution; Courts have ruled that drugtestsare a search. A search is a privacy issue, and there has to be a reason for the search. This is true. Drug tests are a search, and in some cases they may violate the rights of some citizens. Professional athletes, on the other hand, do not get their rights violated by this. This is a huge part of his entire journey. • 44. The Social Problem Of Family Violence And Abuse The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which includes spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violencewe see throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violenceand child abuseis real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in alternative ways they can deal with their family members without having to resort to violence. Also, being creeped out isn t really a valid reason. People don t go up to you and say You re creepy. Would you agree if a women got breast implants? That s changing your body too. But it does explore around with various mystery or experiences faced in reality. Furthermore, he also believes that people need to use symbols to express themselves because every symbol has a significance to define a certain condition and feelings that we are aware of. Expressing symbols shows what a person is going through, it might also give us a symbol related to their problems. The relationship that Jung establish among symbols, dreams and the unconscious is as a symbolic image. They all contain an indefinite number of unknown factors that might end up disclosing different kind of meanings under it. In Jung s perspective it is natural to have a divided self because we all have different meanings about different things in reality. Also, Jung thinks that it is natural to have divided self because every experience contains of different points. Primitive people often feel an unconscious identification with another person or object because they have the most common mental disagreements that occur which is called the loss of a soul. This characteristic of primitive people is relevant to modern people and their personal identity issues because they both suffer from divided personality.
