Mastheads
- 1. Masthead Choosing what I want my masthead to be
- 2. 1- Soul This masthead would be good to use for an RnB magazine because the lyrics of rnb music are mostly related with the hardships faced by people in many different situations. RnB songs are known for their relatable and truthful lyrics, therefore soul sounds like a good masthead as it shows how the genre of music affects a listener. 'Soul' relates to a wider audience and also to my target audience (16+) and is not a name that aims towards a specific gender, which is good as I want my magazine to be aimed towards males and females.
- 3. 2-Replay I have considered the masthead 'replay' as it reminds me of what someone would do when their favorite song is playing, however the masthead is quite general and doesn’t specifically relate to RnB only. Even though it does not exactly relate to the genre, the name is quite catchy and rolls off the tongue easily, making it optional as a masthead. My target audience is people from the age of 16-24, and they would most likely prefer a masthead that is catchy and easy to mention.
- 4. 3-Waves Waves would be a good masthead as it reminds me of the typically soothing sound of RnB music. It also makes a good masthead because it creates a calm mood and atmosphere, which is often the same atmosphere in a RnB song, therefore it represents the genre of my magazine. 'Waves' sends the message that the magazine is talking about relaxing music, therefore this would not be a bad masthead option.
- 5. 4-Pulse The reason I think pulse might be a good masthead is because it relates to the genre. The genre RnB is usually music that relates to many people and tends to get emotional quite often so I feel as if pulse would be a good way of representing the genre as it suggests something that is quite important. Pulse might also appeal to an audience more as it creates a sense of intimacy and seems personal.
- 6. 5-Flow I think flow would also be a suitable masthead because it could connect to the flow of the music in an RnB song. It would also be a good masthead to attract the attention of a young audience as it seems to be less formal compared to all the other mastheads. The name relates to RnB songs too as they tend to have a steady beat, and a good flow, therefore it has a suitable representational meaning.
