Double Page Spread
Manipulations
I started off putting the
headline at the top of the
page. I used two different
fonts to create a stylish
vide to the article. As the
band is new and different.
I used a rhetorical question
for the headline to make
the audience feel more
engagaed.
Then I tilted the
second part of the
headline because it felt
would challenge
conventions, which is
what is wanted to
ultimately do with the
final product.
Then I added the
standfirst under the
headline as a simple
introduction for the
article. The band’s name
is in red because I felt it
would highlight the main
focus of the article
quickly. I added colour to
the headline red for the
“ready for” and purple
“the rebels?”. This was to
follow the house style
throughout the magazine.
I included a By-line
because it is a important
code and convention of
magazine articles. This is
so the reader because
familiar with the writers.
I moved the headline and the
standfirst over to the left. I
moved the by-line to
experiment how it look around
the page. I inserted the main
image of the band, that I
cropped from it’s original
background.
I inserted my final article
and wrap the text around
the main image of the
band. This makes the
article look more put
together. In addition, it
bring more attention to the
main image. I also added
more colour to the
standfirst.
I added a purple background to
keep with the housestyle. I
included a drop cap to show where
the article begins. In addition, I
added a grab quote, the same as
the quote on the front cover to
show continuity between the
article and the main cover line. I
included a page number, that is the
same as the one listed in the
contents page. The By-line was
more to the base of the page,
where there was more space. The
caption by the main image gives
the members of the band’s names,
to make the audience connect with
them qucikly.
For the final version, I
enlarged the grab quote
and the headline to draw
more attention to both. I
feel the article included
all the features normally
found in an Rock music
article.
