Task A – Audience Research
My target audience of my artist will be in the young adults range, specifically fromthe age
of 16-21. The reason for this is that this age range is the most common for the style of music
that I am going for therefore the sales of the CD disk will be higher as more people will want
to buy it. Another reason for choosing this target range is also to do with sales and that is
the fact that people in this range are the most likely to listen to a lot of music.
With my target audience I want to appeal to both genders with the music that I produce so
therefore I will have a variety of different styles with every song to therefore appeal to the
audience but it will still stick to the general genre that I am aiming for.
For the male avatar I think that on the NRS scale that my main
target audience will be round the C1 or the C2 area so in the
working class, as the album will be affordable for all the working
classes, however it might not be afford for the D class or the E
class. Furthermore, the working class is the most common class
for a male to be in therefore I assume that it will be roughly that
class. I believe that the aspects that they will like of the album is
the bass elements and the lyrics of the song. They will also enjoy
the varied styles in the songs making them want to listen to the
music more. I believe that he would be the mainstream on the
4Cs scale since he would like to listen and to watch popular
media that everyone else is in to. Furthermore, I believe the
music will end up being mainstream so it would interest him more.
The female avatar I believe will be of the same class on the NRS
Scale which is in the C1 and the C2 range, since it is also the most
common class for a female to be in due to the society. The
elements of the songs that I believe they will like in the song are the
melody and the varied styles in the songs to suit both genders. I
believe that they will also like the lyrics and the meanings of the
song. I believe that the female avatar I have chosen will be the
explorer on the 4C’s scale as they will be adventurous to this genre
as you don’t usually expect females to listen to this certain genre
and style of music.
